The emotionally charged 1985 hit "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday had '80s fans immediately obsessed, and its unforgettable music video turned the song into something even bigger. From the moment viewers laid eyes on cool-as-hell, lead singer Aimee Mann and her spiky, platinum-bleached locks to the iconic scream in the final scene, "Voices Carry" became one of those music videos fans simply couldn’t shake.

With its haunting melody and vulnerable lyrics, “Voices Carry” had a power that instantly captured music fans and made the new wave song a hit. Mann's restrained vocals gave the lyrics an intense and anxious loneliness. Lines like "I'm in the dark, I'd like to read his mind / But I'm frightened of the things I might find" and "I try so hard not to get upset / Because I know all the trouble I'll get" nailed the relatable, simmering tension of feeling trapped.

The success of "Voices Carry" only grew once its unforgettable music video landed in heavy rotation on MTV. The video tackled abusive relationship dynamics at a time when those conversations were pretty "hush hush."

The video opens with an increasingly controlling boyfriend, played by late actor Cully Holland, criticizing his girlfriend, portrayed by Mann. "I'm so happy the band is doing well," he says dripping with sarcasm. "By the way, what's with the hair? Is that part of the new image?" From there, the tension steadily builds as Mann’s character retreats into the music studio, where practicing “Voices Carry” becomes both an escape and a growing act of self-expression.

As the boyfriend’s jealousy burns into a rage, the video becomes surprisingly intense and realistic for MTV at the time. Mann’s wide-eyed and vulnerable performance gives the story poignancy, especially during the song’s bridge: “Oh, he wants me / But only part of the time / He wants me / If he can keep me in line.” By the time the now-iconic ending arrives, the video feels less like a standard music promo and more like a cathartic story about finally refusing to stay silent.

By the dramatic end scene, set in Carnegie Hall, the girlfriend is fed up and ready to let go of emotional suppression and (perhaps) her terrible boyfriend. In the theater seats at a performance, her boyfriend belittles her braided hair tail one last time and in an almost hypnotic uprising, the girlfriend begins singing aloud, her own voices lifting her out of the seat until she's belting out the passionate outro, "He said shut up, he said to shut up / Oh God, can't you keep it down?"

The brilliant and cathartic release and the characters demand to finally be seen resonated strongly in the MTV era, too. Years before these sensitive conversations became mainstream, the music video transformed “Voices Carry” from a hit pop new wave song into something far more culturally resonant.

The hit song "Voices Carry" by 'Til Tuesday was released on March 28, 1985, as the lead single from their debut studio album of the same name. While the entire band—lead singer and bassist Aimee Mann, guitarist Robert Holmes, keyboardist Joey Pesce, and drummer Michael Hausman—is credited with the music, Mann wrote the lyrics. "Voices Carry" became the band's biggest hit, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and won the 1985 MTV Video Music Award for "Best New Artist in a Video."

Mann became an unlikely MTV icon during this time. Her unique style, understated presence, and emotional authenticity was definitely in contrast with flashier ’80s pop stars. Her time in 'Til Tuesday ignited a long future musical career as a solo artist.

You can thank Gen X nostalgia the song’s lasting legacy and continued resonance, but it's found new audiences as well. To date, the '80s hit has over 72 million streams on Spotify. “Voices Carry” and its themes of emotional control and toxic relationship dynamics still feel surprisingly modern decades later. It felt ahead of its time on the topic of reclaiming your voice, and the final scene and her iconic scream became MTV history.

More than 40 years later, “Voices Carry” remains memorable not just because of its melody, but because it gave voice to emotions many viewers instantly recognized but rarely saw portrayed so openly on MTV. It was one of the early songs that pushed the power of MTV storytelling, and “Voices Carry” left an enduring impact as a defining MTV anthem.

Over the last few summers, flavored sparkling water has completely taken over people’s fridges, coolers, cupholders and pool bags—and for very good reason. Sometimes plain water just doesn’t cut it when you want something refreshing and fun, but you also don’t want to drink a sugary soda all day long. One of the things I personally love most about sparkling water is that you still get that bubbly, satisfying soda experience without the sugar crash. And I'm far from the only one who feels this way.

For this taste test of all of the Waterloo Sparking Water flavors ranked, I recruited my husband Jimmy, who is a huge sparkling beverage fan (aka a huge Diet Coke guy) and almost always has a cold can of something sparking within arm’s reach. I wanted a second opinion from someone who drinks sparkling water daily and has strong feelings about flavor balance, sweetness and carbonation.

On our little assigned date afternoon, we armed ourselves with ice-filled glasses and 15 chilled cans to sip through. We chugged our way through fruity favorites, citrus blends and Guy Fieri’s wildly chaotic Flavortown flavors to determine which ones are actually worth stocking in your beverage fridges this summer.

Waterloo added several new flavors to its lineup in 2026, including Banana Berry Bliss and Melon Medley, while also bringing back Lemon Italian Ice as a permanent flavor after strong fan demand.

What Does Guy Fieri Have To Do With Waterloo?

Guy Fieri teamed up with Waterloo for a series of over-the-top “Flavortown” sparkling water collaborations inspired by nostalgic desserts and summer flavors. Recent releases include Coconut Lime Cooler, Root Beer Float and Apple Pie à la Mode.

Previous limited-edition flavors included Lemon Italian Ice, Huckleberry Cobbler and Spiced Mango Sorbet.

How I Tested These 15 Waterloo Flavors

To keep the tasting as fair as possible, Jimmy and I chilled every flavor thoroughly before pouring them over ice in identical glasses.

We tasted each flavor side-by-side, paying attention to aroma, carbonation, sweetness perception, balance and how accurately the flavor matched the name on the can.

We also considered whether we’d actually want to drink a full can again or if one sip was enough.

Here's how the ranking sipped out after trying all 15 Waterloo flavors:

15. Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Apple Pie à la Mode

Before even opening the can, I wasn’t entirely convinced I wanted to consume sparkling apple pie in beverage form. The first smell delivered heavy apple pie spice notes, but after sipping, the flavor leaned more “pumpkin spice candle” than actual pie à la mode with minimal vanilla notes.

Jimmy pointed out that the can artwork made it feel far creamier and more dessert-like than the actual flavor delivered. Not for us...

14. Grape

This one landed firmly at the bottom for both of us. To me, it tasted exactly like children’s grape cough syrup, while Jimmy compared it to a melted purple ice pop. Either way, we both agreed it leaned heavily into that unmistakably artificial “grape flavor” territory that feels more candy-like than refreshing.

13. Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Lemon Italian Ice

As two New Jersey kids who grew up loving Italian ice, we were genuinely excited for this one, but it didn’t quite live up to the nostalgic promise. Instead of tasting sweet, tart and punchy like a true lemon Italian ice, it mostly tasted like a muted lemon sparkling water. It wasn’t bad, but it definitely didn’t transport us to the boardwalk the way we hoped.

12. Banana Berry Bliss

One of Waterloo’s newest flavors, Banana Berry Bliss immediately made us both nervous because banana is such a dominant flavor. Surprisingly, the banana wasn’t overwhelming, but it definitely gave nostalgic banana candy vibes...the kind you’d get from coin machines at pizza places as a kid.

Jimmy thought the berry balanced things out well, while I kept describing it as “sparkling smoothie energy.” Fun to try, but not something I’d personally stock up on.

11. Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Coconut Lime Cooler

This one smells intensely coconut-forward at the very crack of the can. Unfortunately, for me, the best way I could describe the taste was "the way sunscreen smells," which is both oddly specific and somehow accurate.

Jimmy actually liked this one most out of the Guy Fieri lineup, but we both wished the lime came through more strongly to brighten everything up and cut down on the intense coconut flavor.

10. Cherry Limeade

This flavor landed very squarely in the middle for both of us. Neither of us hated it, but neither of us felt particularly excited by it either. I wanted a sweeter, punchier cherry flavor, while Jimmy thought the citrus dominated a little too much. It’s drinkable, but slightly forgettable.

9. Raspberry Nectarine

Raspberry isn’t typically my favorite flavor because it can easily overpower everything else, but I appreciated that the nectarine still came through here. To me, it tasted more peachy than nectarine-specific, while Jimmy thought the raspberry notes hit first and the nectarine followed afterward. Overall, it felt balanced and refreshing.

8. Summer Berry

This flavor immediately gets bonus points for its adorable patriotic can design, which feels perfect for putting out in coolers an ice buckets for summer parties and holiday weekends. Flavor-wise, though, both of us agreed it leaned much more blueberry-forward than the mixed berry blend advertised on the can.

Still, it was refreshing, fruity and very easy to drink.

7. Lemon-Lime

Classic for a reason. This flavor tasted exactly how you’d want a lemon-lime sparkling water to taste: crisp, refreshing and balanced between both citrus flavors. Nothing groundbreaking, but very reliable.

6. Melon Medley

This ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the tasting. I immediately said, “Oh, I really like this” after the first sip because you rarely find melon-flavored sparkling waters.

Instead of leaning heavily watermelon, it delivered strong cantaloupe and honeydew vibes in a way that felt unique and unexpectedly refreshing.

5. Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Root Beer Float

Without question, this was the strongest Guy Fieri flavor of the bunch. It delivered noticeable sassafras flavor alongside actual vanilla notes (unlike the a la mode situation), which made it feel far more accurate to its inspiration than the other dessert-inspired options.

Jimmy wished it had a creamier finish, but we both agreed this one genuinely worked and are intrigued to pour it over some vanilla ice cream soon.

4. Peach

Simple, refreshing and very well executed. Sometimes single-flavor sparkling waters work best because there’s no competition happening in the can, and that’s exactly the case here.

The peach flavor is strong without becoming artificial, and I could absolutely see this being used as the base for brunch mocktails with fresh fruit.

3. Strawberry

This one tasted incredibly clean, refreshing and bright. The strawberry flavor was strong in the best possible way, and I immediately thought it would make an amazing sparkling strawberry lemonade when mixed with fresh lemonade.

Easily one of the most drinkable flavors of the entire lineup.

2. Ruby Red Tangerine

Both of us loved this far more than we expected to. It’s light, citrusy and incredibly refreshing, with just enough sweetness to keep it balanced without becoming tart.

I immediately thought it would pair beautifully in a skinny margarita, while Jimmy described it as “delightful” from the very first sip.

1. Blackberry Lemonade

This flavor has quietly become a staple in our fridge thanks to the seasonal variety pack at Costco, and after tasting everything side-by-side, it fully earned the top spot. While it definitely leans more blackberry-forward than lemonade, the balance works beautifully.

It’s refreshing, flavorful and feels like the kind of sparkling water you could happily drink all summer long. Jimmy described it as “berry-forward with minimal citrus,” but we both agreed it was simply delicious.

After tasting 15 different Waterloo flavors back-to-back, one thing became very clear: Waterloo isn’t afraid to have fun with sparkling water. Some flavors worked far better than others, but the best ones managed to feel refreshing, nostalgic and genuinely exciting without relying on sugar or sweeteners.

Whether you prefer classic citrus, fruity summer flavors or Guy Fieri collab dessert concepts, there’s definitely a Waterloo flavor that deserves a permanent spot in your fridge this summer.

On this day in 1978, “Miss You” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, and nothing about its arrival sounded like "business as usual" for The Rolling Stones.

You have to remember, this was a time when disco was dominating the airwaves. So, instead of resisting the moment, the Stones leaned in, fusing their gritty rock edge with a sleek, dance-floor pulse that stunned, even alienated, longtime fans. What followed, however, was one of the most unexpected reinventions in rock history and a No. 1 hit that would define the summer of 1978.

Established as legendary rockers, the Stones shifted their sound during their Some Girls era, with the disco-tinged “Miss You” proving to be as dynamic as the band itself. Cited by Billboard as part of the band’s “last perfect album,” the 1978 single helped yank the group out of a “creative slump” and propel the album to the top spot on the Billboard 200. The album also nabbed the band its only Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

“A lot of those songs like ‘Miss You’ were heavily influenced by going to the discos," drummer Charlie Watts revealed, via Far Out. "You can hear it in a lot of those four-on-the-floor rhythms and the Philadelphia-style drumming. Mick and I used to go to discos a lot. … It was a great period.”

Penned by band’s songwriting duo, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, during a jam session, the track got a little help from some friends, including Fifth Beatle Billy Preston on the keyboard and Bill Wyman on the bassline; although, Wyman will be the first to tell you the iconic bassline is the product of Preston's genius.

Though the finished product may have been debated by fans and critics for its change in musical direction, the track with a disco twist ultimately paid off, as it became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and solidified itself as one of the band’s era-defining, signature hits.

Today, the track still rocks. From Jagger’s stellar vocal phrasing to its timeless rhythm section and effortless swagger, “Miss You” remains a bridge between two worlds, feeling as fresh on a dance floor as it does on a streaming playlist. And when that iconic “Ah, ah, ah-ah-ah” kicks in, it’s hard not to sing along. We know you want to. Because we do, too. 

So, when The Rolling Stones refer to themselves as the “World’s Greatest Rock & Roll Band,” it’s really hard to argue, innit?

While music lovers in the '80s were inundated with plenty of "one-hit wonders," some briefly popular songs released in the decade are considered better than others. For instance, in May 2026, the publication Collider released a list of the "10 best classic rock one-hit wonders of the 1980s."

The ranking included '80s rock hits like 1982's "I Melt With You" by Modern English, Dexys Midnight Runners' 1982 song "Come On Eileen," and "867-5309/Jenny" by Tommy Tutone, released in 1981. According to Collider, the hair metal band Twisted Sister's"We're Not Gonna Take It" from 1984 deserved the list's top spot.

The anthem climbed to the number 21 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 1984.

Dee Snider Shared Some Insight Into Making the Hit Song in a 2015 Interview

The original singer of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider, discussed the long-lasting success of "We're Not Gonna Take It" in a 2015 interview with boom 97.3. He said the band was accused of writing the tune with the intention of it being a "pop anthem that was going to put us over the top." The retired musician, now 71, said, however, that wasn't the case.

"The fact of the matter is I had written the hook 'We're not gonna take it' in 1980, which is four years [before it] was released, before we had a record deal, but I couldn't finish the song," said Snider in the interview. "I had this great hook, and I would constantly go back to it, trying to come up with the verse and chorus for it, and I'd just come up empty."

He said that he "finally figured out the verse and chorus and completed the song" while working on the band's 1984 album, Stay Hungry.

In addition, he said that he's encountered people all over the world who know the hit song.

"It's to the point where they may not even know who wrote the song or who recorded the song originally. That's when it becomes a folk song," said Snider in the 2015 interview.

Those of us who are of a certain age remember Publishers Clearing House. Being on the receiving end of one of these checks was a lifelong dream of mine, and when I was younger, I hoped to someday be surprised with the cameras, balloons, and comically large payment.

Unfortunately, the brand has been hijacked by modern scammers who use the company's reputation to bilk money from unsuspecting seniors. One Kansas woman is living proof of the problem after she says she was cheated out of $11,000 in the scam. Keep reading to learn more and avoid a similar fate.

Woman Cheated Out of Money Through Publishers Clearing House Scam

A Kansas woman has turned to police for help after she says she was contacted by someone claiming to be working with Publishers Clearing House, according to a local NBC News affiliate. The Saline County Sheriff's Office told the publication that the man who reached out to the 67-year-old said she had won big money and a new car, but that she would need to open a special bank account to receive the funds.

Thinking she was in for a massive payday, the woman followed the instructions she was given and transferred $11,000 worth of Social Security payments into the bank account. However, after she checked back in on the money, that's when she realized she had been taken for a ride.

Why Do Scammers Use Publishers Clearing House to Trick People

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says that, while the organization is a legit sweepstakes, scammers use its reputation to scam folks out of their hard-earned money. So, how do you protect yourself? According to the agency, you can follow the following steps:

• If you're contacted by someone claiming to be from the sweepstakes company, call their number at 1-800-459-4724 to confirm
• Remember that Publishers Clearing House doesn't call in advance to let you know you've won, and instead shows up with cameras, balloons, and that giant check
• Publishers Clearing House doesn't ask winners for money, instead it is free to claim your prize

If you think you've been contacted by a scammer, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service says that you should immediately reach out to Publishers Clearing House directly at 1-800-392-4190 (please note that this is a different number than the one to confirm your winnings) to report any information or requests you've received.

You can also reach out to your local law enforcement agency, especially if you gave the scammers any of your personal or payment information before realizing it wasn't the real deal. While it can be embarrassing to be taken for a ride by fraudsters, the most important thing you can do is to report them and let law enforcement know what is happening so that they can help you potentially recover some of your lost cash.

Hootie & the Blowfish's first record, Cracked Rear View, featuring hits like "Only Wanna Be with You," "Hold My Hand," and "Let Her Cry," catapulted the South Carolina-based band into the spotlight. Songfacts reported that the 1994 record reached the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200 on May 27, 1995.

In a 2024 interview with Q with Tom Powers, the band's frontman and vocalist, Darius Rucker, shared his thoughts about the success of Cracked Rear View.

"Man, it's crazy, you know, I mean, even though we're much older now, I remember when we started, and if you told us we were going to do that, no one would've believed it. You know 21 million records [sold], and you know, they're great stats. We're really proud of those," said the musician, now 60.

He then said he believed Cracked Rear View immediately found lasting popularity because the record came out at "the right place, at the right time." Rucker also said that fans are still drawn to the album, over 30 years since its release.

"People still love it, you know. I think, you know, with the streaming and everything, it still does so well. It's just one of those records that, I don't know, you know, you have to respect it," said Rucker during the 2024 interview.  

During the Q with Tom Powers interview, Rucker also shared some insight into Hootie & the Blowfish joining Atlantic Records before the release of Cracked Rear View. He explained that record labels had taken an interest in the band after they began selling their 1993 EP Kootchypop at "Mom-and-pop shops."

In addition, Rucker said while they had the support of the then-president of Atlantic Records, Danny Goldberg, and Tim Sommer, who signed them, not everyone at the label thought they would be successful because they weren't a grunge band.

"There were people at the label that said, 'If you put Cracked Rear View out, Atlantic would be the laughing stock of the music business.' That was actually said," said Rucker during the interview.

There’s a rumor going around that the implementation of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” means no more taxation on Social Security benefits, but it simply isn’t true. While Social Security tax laws changed, it is still taxable under certain conditions.

How Taxes Worked Before

In a piece written for The Sumter Item, a local South Carolina newspaper, CFP, CPA, and Financial Advisor P. Reid Schwartz explains how taxes have worked. Social Security is taxed based on what the IRS calls Combined Income (or Provisional Income). That includes the following:

• Adjusted gross income
• Tax-exempt interest
• One-half of Social Security Benefits

Depending on your situation, up to 85% of your Social Security benefits could be taxable. Usually, it’s $25,000 for single filers and $32,000 for married couples filing jointly. 

If your income exceeds these levels, a portion of it becomes taxable. Since these numbers have not been adjusted for inflation, more seniors are finding their monthly income doesn’t stretch as far as before.

The New (Temporary) Changes

It’s important to note that these changes will only be available from the 2025 to the 2028 tax filing period. They’ll be phased out after that, and the new deductions will be eliminated. So things will go back to how they were originally. 

The new law doesn’t actually change how deductions are calculated or who is responsible for taxes. It provides an additional deduction to lower your taxable income. Single filers can see up to a $6,000 additional reduction, while married individuals can claim up to $12,000, depending on their Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) totals. 

Income Still Matters

If you have a yearly income of $75,000 as a single person or $150,000 as a married couple, the additional reduction begins to phase out. For single filers, it reduces by $60 for every $1,000 over the threshold, while married couples reduce by $120 for every $1,000 over their limit. Single seniors with an income of $175,000 or married couples with an income of $250,000 will not receive an extra deduction at all. 

Lower-income seniors will see a reduction in their tax bill, but those who were already in the lowest brackets won’t notice that much of a difference.

When Does It Go Into Effect

To qualify for the new tax break, you must turn 65 on or before December 31 of the tax year. It is important not to confuse this temporary $6,000/$12,000 OBBBA deduction with the IRS's permanent additional standard deduction for seniors (which sits at $2,000 for single filers and $1,600 per spouse for married filers). While those permanent senior tax perks aren't going anywhere, this massive new bonus deduction is a short reprieve that will completely vanish after 2028.

So while SS income is still taxable, some seniors will get a short reprieve through 2028. Unfortunately, though, taxation on Social Security benefits has not gone away.

A film is sometimes only as good as its soundtrack and main theme song. Director Joel Schumacher's 1987 comedy horror film, The Lost Boys, needed the right song to bring its gothic vampire energy to life, and found it thanks to Gerard McMahon's track created specifically for the film.

The Lost Boys would become one of the horror genre's most popular cult classic vampire films. With an $8.5 million budget, it was a box office success that made $32.5 million, which was well-liked by critics and fans. It would later spawn a franchise of low-budget sequels and a Broadway musical adaptation.

The film starred Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, Corey Haim, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and Dianne Wiest. It focuses on two brothers who move to Santa Clara with their recently divorced mother. The chance of a new start becomes complicated when Santa Carla's dark secret of bloodthirsty vampires puts them at risk.

The Lost Boys needed the perfect theme song, and the project was tasked to McMahon by the president of music at Warner Bros. "Cry Little Sister" was soon born and became the missing piece of the puzzle that would go on to become a gothic rock anthem and rock staple years later. Despite its popularity, the track never managed to enter the charts and had moderate success in Europe.

According to reports, McMahon was only sent the script and never actually saw any clips of The Lost Boys before developing the track. It was a first for him, but he ended up getting more inspired by Michael's (Patric) story and events in his own life. He recalls having an emotional connection, living in New York, which was at the time a "Gotham-like vampire place in very dark times."

McMahon has also said in other interviews that he related to Michael's loneliness as his own and was in a vulnerable place. He also saw a "kind of evil" on the streets of the city that was lined with vials and needles. The track became popular for its haunting use of a children's chorus in the backdrop.

"The song was brewing in my head with the choir as a chorus backing me. That all seemed to come within half an hour. Mike Maineri had this hypnotic beat, we refined it together, and my melody and chords melted right into it," he said in an interview with Old School.

With the demo done, he sent it to the film's director and got an ecstatic call two days later. Schumacher was over the moon and told McMahon that he had "nailed" the theme song for The Lost Boys" and was stunned it was created without having seen the film. While the song never actually mentions vampires, McMahon says he created the track based on "longing for a family from a rejected youth's perspective."

It’s been over 60 years since BobDylan released the album that turned him into a household name.

On May 27, 1963, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan hit shelves. It included hit songs such as “Blowin’ In The Wind,” “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” and “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall.”

The monumental record included mostly original songs, unlike his somewhat unnoticed first album, Bob Dylan (1962). His unique sound stood out to listeners.

“I wrote a lot of songs in a quick amount of time,” Dylan told Rolling Stone about his second album. “I could do that then, because the process was new to me. I felt like I’d discovered something no one else had ever discovered, and I was in a sort of an arena artistically that no one else had ever been in before ever.”

The album became his introduction for many fans. It peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 32 weeks on the chart.

The Beatles were among the new listeners after a French DJ gave them The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan.

“For three weeks in Paris, we didn’t stop playing it,” said JohnLennon. “We all went potty about Dylan.”

The album took him a full year, with eight visits to the studio. Dylan was just 20 years old when he began recording and celebrated his 22nd birthday days before its release.

Peter Yarrow, a member of folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary, and a close friend of Dylan’s, recalled watching him work.

“He was writing all the time, at night sitting in the clubs,” said Yarrow. “You’d see him reading a newspaper, and then the next day he wrote a song about what he had read.”

His hard work and dedication paid off. Dylan is now one of the most famous singer-songwriters of a generation.

In his over 60-year career, he produced over 50 albums, many credited for changing rock and folk music. Dylan has won 10 Grammy awards, a Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, an Academy Award for Best Original Song, and the Nobel Prize for Literature

Time to check your freezers– a nationwide recall for frozen pizzas has been expanded due to possible Salmonella contamination. An initial recall notice was issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on April 30, and was later expanded on May 15 for several frozen pizzas sold across the country that may be contaminated with Salmonella. 

“The problem was discovered when FDA notified FSIS that multiple FSIS-regulated establishments received FDA-regulated ingredients formulated with dry milk powder that had been recalled,” the government agency said in a statement, noting that, as of now, “There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a health care provider.”

The following frozen pizzas have been recalled nationwide, including ones sold at retailers like Aldi and Walmart:

Additionally, certain products sold in specific states were also recalled, like Culinary Circle Ultra Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza, sold in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington. Several kinds of taco pizza were also recalled, including the Ole & Lena’s Pizzeria version sold in Maryland and North Dakota, the Henry's Homestyle Pizza, Randy’s, and Kowalski's Markets versions sold in Minnesota, and the Papa Bob Gourmet Pizza version sold in Missouri and Illinois. 

Other taco pizzas affected by the recall include the Roberto's Pizza version sold in Iowa and Minnesota, and the Brothers Market version sold in Iowa. A full list of lot codes, use by dates, and production dates can be found here. 

While Salmonella typically clears up on its own, those affected by it can suffer from fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps, typically within 8 to 72 hours after exposure. Chills, nausea, vomiting, headache, and blood in stool can also occur.

The answer: "Who is Louis Pasteur?"

Given the pre-FJ scores ($19,800 for D’Angelo, $13,600 for Scott, $4,200 for Hoke), Scott could’ve technically caught D’Angelo with a maximum bet, despite his commanding lead. However, D’Angelo’s correct response, the only one of the trio, ensured the victory. He added $7,401 to the prize pot to remain the victor and take home $27,201 total for the day. 

Meanwhile, Scott's incorrect answer (“Who is Aud?”) meant that his near-total wager dropped him to $1, while Hoke’s incorrect guess (“Who is D-“) landed her in second place with half of her DJ total at $2,000 for the day.

D'Angelo will return on Thursday for a shot at his seventh win.

You've probably heard of panning for gold at state parks, but diamond hunting? That's an actual activity at Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. Beyond diamonds, the mineral-rich soil across the 37-acre search field contains quartz, jasper, agate, amethyst, and garnet. And here's the best part: anything you find is yours to keep.

Since the park became an Arkansas state property in 1972, visitors have uncovered more than 37,000 diamonds. The largest on record is the 40.23-carat "Uncle Sam." But most finds are pocket-sized. In January 2026, two TikTok streamers found a 6.03-carat canary-yellow diamond. 

A few weeks earlier, a Pennsylvania woman unearthed a 3.09-carat white stone. In March, a local regular named David Anderson discovered a 3.29-carat brown diamond he nicknamed "B.U.D." (Big Ugly Diamond). Over 16 years of visits, Anderson has found more than 400 gems total.

How It Actually Works

The park sits on the Prairie Creek Diatreme, an ancient volcanic formation that pushed diamonds toward the surface ages ago. It's one of the only places on Earth where you can legally dig for natural diamonds in their original volcanic setting.

After paying a small admissions fee ($15 for adults, $7 for kids 6-12, free for kids under 6), gem seekers have access to a 37.5-acre plowed field and need to bring their own equipment or rent shovels, picks, screens, and buckets at the Diamond Discovery Center. Most people use one of three techniques: surface mining (scanning the ground), dry screening (using mesh to sift soil), or wet sifting (rinsing gravel in buckets). Park staff provide free instruction and equipment demonstrations.

The diamonds you'll find are usually small and white, brown, or yellow. You'll also find other minerals and gemstones along the way, which many visitors consider the real treasure of the day.

Before You Go

Come with realistic expectations: you'll likely spend hours in the heat, get covered in dirt, and find nothing of value. That's okay if you're there for the experience. If you're banking on striking it rich, perhaps you should make other plans.

Spring offers the best conditions—especially after rain, when the ground is easier to work. The park operates year-round, and staff can identify anything you discover. If you find a diamond worth selling, they can certify it for you.

Rental equipment is available, though some visitors swear by bringing their own gear. The park also has the 1.2-mile Prospector Trail, historical structures, including a recreated early-1900s mine shaft, and Diamond Springs Water Park (open seasonally).

Most people leave with a handful of rocks, some stories, and an appreciation for geology. A few go home with actual diamonds. Either way, it's one of the few places where you can legally dig for real gems and keep what you find.

Social Security recipients are usually already working on a shoestring budget. However, policy shifts from the Trump administration mean those monthly funds could shrink due to a pair of new(ish) benefit offsets—one that is already taking a bite out of checks, and another looming on the horizon.

That means people could be looking at smaller monthly payments. Keep reading to find out what is being proposed and whether or not it could impact your Social Security payments.

Trump Administration to Add New Garnishment Requests to Social Security

According to Yahoo! Finance, Social Security recipients may see two new(ish) garnishments appear on their payments. First up is an overpayment recovery rate. Previously, the overpayment rate was set at 100 percent, which meant that if the Social Security Administration (SSA) overpaid your benefits, they could withhold future payments until that overpayment was settled.

This was a very unpopular plan, and it was repealed during Joe Biden's administration and set at just 10 percent so that recipients could still access their funds, especially when the overpayment was made through no fault of their own. However, the Trump administration has bumped that figure back up to 50 percent, so recipients could now lose half their benefits if they are overpaid by the SSA.

The second garnishment that appears to be added involves those who have defaulted on their federal student loans. According to the publication, there's been an increase in senior borrowers defaulting on these loans, and now an estimated 452,000 Social Security recipients could stand to have their benefits garnished if they are behind on those federal student loan payments.

When Will These Garnishments Go Into Effect?

According to the Department of Education, federal student loan default garnishments won't go into effect right away; instead, it will work with borrowers who have fallen behind, offering a few new options beginning July 1, 2026. This includes applying for income-driven repayment plans and finding other ways to help them meet their financial obligations.

As for the overpayment garnishment, it's already in effect. According to Yahoo! Finance, it was put in place after March 2025, when the Trump administration tried to reinstate the 100 percent rate.

While this news can be stressful for those receiving benefits, especially if it is your sole source of income, there are ways to get help. Those with questions about overpayments of benefits should reach out to the SSA to discuss any additional options they may have.

As for student loan borrowers, the Department of Education will have more information about the options available after the July 1 start date. The most important thing to remember is to reach out for help if you need it and to be patient, because lines are likely to be busy as many people look for ways to avoid having their benefits garnished.
