There’s a Medication That Could Help Prevent Long COVID—but Most Doctors Aren’t Prescribing It Yet

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:25pm

For most people, getting COVID is a temporary inconvenience. No one wants to be sick in bed for a few days, but most people bounce back relatively quickly. But for some people, COVID symptoms aren’t a short-term issue, and they continue to experience symptoms months and even years after getting the virus.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 6.9% of adults reported having Long COVID in 2022, a percentage that has likely gone up since the virus has now been around longer. Long COVID is when symptoms related to contracting the COVID virus last more than three months. These symptoms can include respiratory problems (like shortness of breath or coughing), cognitive issues (like brain fog or memory problems), fatigue, dizziness and loss of taste and smell, among other symptoms.

But according to a new scientific study, the antiviral medication Paxlovid could help with Long COVID symptoms if it’s taken for a longer period of time. Despite this promising development, most doctors aren’t prescribing it for Long COVID. Why not? We talked to an infectious disease expert to find out.

The Medication That Could Help With Long COVID

If you’ve never heard of Paxlovid before, it’s important to understand what the medication is and how it works before talking about it in the context of Long COVID. Dr. Eric Yager, PhD, an infectious disease expert and associate professor of microbiology at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, explains that Paxlovid is an antiviral medication used to treat mild to severe COVID infections in people who are at high risk of experiencing severe complications from the virus, including people 65 and older or who are immunocompromised.

Dr. Yager tells Parade that Paxlovid is a combination of two drugs. The first drug is nirmatrelvir, which blocks a key enzyme the virus needs to replicate. The second drug is ritonavir, which slows down the breakdown of nirmatrelvir (the first drug) so that it stays effective longer.

Related: 8 Sneaky Symptoms That You Might Not Realize Are Signs of Long COVID

“Paxlovid is a very effective drug against the virus and it’s recommended for individuals who are likely to have severe outcomes. But the tricky part is that you have to know that you are infected with COVID and not another illness, like the flu or RSV, for it to work,” he says.

On top of this, Dr. Yager adds that for Paxlovid to work, it must be prescribed within the first five days of being infected with the virus.

How Paxlovid Could Be Used To Treat Long COVID

Until recently, Paxlovid has only been used to treat acute COVID infections. But researchers at UC San Francisco found that it may help people experiencing Long COVID as well. Typically, Paxlovid is taken for five days. In the study, researchers had 13 people with Long COVID take it for 15 days. Some of the participants experienced a meaningful reduction in symptoms, but it didn’t work for everyone. Some participants felt better for a while, but their symptoms eventually returned.

With this in mind, when asked if Paxlovid can help treat Long COVID, Dr. Yager’s answer is…maybe. He says that while the research is encouraging, it’s not strong enough to truly show that it can help, which is why extended doses of Paxlovid are not being prescribed for Long COVID yet.

Related: This Bizarre Symptom May Be a Sign of Long COVID, According to COVID Experts

Dr. Yager points out that what makes using Paxlovid to treat Long COVID especially challenging is that it must be taken within five days of contracting the virus, and most people don’t realize they have Long COVID until weeks or months after that.

How To Decrease Your Risk of Long COVID

If you want to decrease your risk of getting Long COVID, Dr. Yager says the best action you can take is getting a yearly COVID vaccine. “There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to Long COVID, but what we do know is that being unvaccinated puts you at a higher risk of getting it,” he tells Parade. “If you get vaccinated for COVID, your risk of getting Long COVID isn’t zero, but it’s definitely lower than if you don’t get the COVID vaccine.”

Dr. Yager explains that, similarly to the flu vaccine, the COVID vaccine is continuously updated to reflect the latest COVID mutations. This is why it’s important to continue getting a COVID vaccine every year; if you haven’t received it since the vaccines initially came out, your protection from the virus is low.

What should you do if you already have Long COVID? Dr. Yager says that, currently, treatment for Long COVID is focused on symptom management; there is no cure for Long COVID—at least not yet. That said, if symptoms from Long COVID (such as shortness of breath, brain fog or fatigue) are interfering with your daily life, you should talk to your doctor about the best way to manage these symptoms.

While it may be disheartening to hear that there is no cure for Long COVID yet, Dr. Yager says that the new research on taking Paxlovid for an extended period of time is promising. Just because the science for using it to treat Long COVID isn’t quite there yet doesn’t mean it won’t ever be. An exciting breakthrough could be just around the corner.

This Fast-Growing 'Clean Cooking' Brand Is Now Hitting Stores Nationwide

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:25pm

A fast-growing "clean cooking" brand is making a major push into grocery stores across the country—and it's happening just months after its initial launch.

Marianne's, a premium cooking fats brand focused on purity and transparency, is expanding into more than 1,100 retail locations nationwide, including a major rollout into H-E-B stores and several regional grocery chains.

The brand, launched in November 2025, has quickly gained traction in the increasingly crowded cooking oil category by focusing on what it describes as 100 percent pure, third-party-verified oils and fats.

A Big Retail Expansion in Just Months

The latest expansion includes placement in more than 250 H-E-B locations, as well as availability at specialty retailer Pop Up Grocer and regional chains like Fresh Thyme, Hy-Vee, and Woodman's. In addition to its in-store rollout, Marianne's products are also available at select Costco locations and Sprouts Farmers Markets.

That rapid growth—reaching over 1,100 stores just five months after launch—signals strong demand for products positioned around clean-label ingredients and transparent sourcing.

Why Marianne's Is Selling

The brand's lineup is minimal, focusing on only two core categories: avocado oil and beef tallow. Its avocado oil range includes classic, organic, and Regenerative Organic Certified options, all designed for high-heat cooking with smoke points reaching up to 500˚F.

Meanwhile, its beef tallow products—both classic and organic—are slow-rendered in small batches and designed for roasting and frying, with smoke points up to 400˚F.

The company emphasizes minimal processing, including refining avocado oil "low and slow" to preserve nutrients and avoid contaminants, while its tallow is produced in small batches for consistency and flavor.

"Clean Cooking" Is Gaining Momentum View this post on Instagram

Marianne's is part of a broader shift toward ingredient transparency, fewer additives, and sourcing practices that consumers can trace.

The brand has leaned heavily into that positioning, highlighting certifications and third-party testing as a key differentiator. Its avocado oil has been recognized for purity in tests conducted by UC Davis and has earned a Clean Label Project Purity Award, indicating it is free of contaminants and impurities.

What's Next for Marianne's

With distribution expanding rapidly and new retail partners coming online, Marianne’s is positioning itself as a growing player in the premium cooking fats space.

For shoppers, that means these products may soon be easier to find on shelves—and part of a larger trend toward more transparent, ingredient-focused cooking staples.

We Asked Retirement Pros What the Biggest Issue Is With Inflation, and They All Said the Same Thing

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:23pm

By now, you've likely seen at least one news story about how the costs of everyday necessities seem to keep rising, leaving many people struggling to afford the essentials. And while that is definitely an issue for anyone struggling to make ends meet, retirees are in an especially challenging situation because they are on a fixed income, which means their earnings stay the same... no matter how expensive everything around them gets.

I spoke with several retirement pros to find out what they say are the biggest challenges for today's retirees when it comes to inflation, and they surprisingly all said the same thing. Keep reading to find out what it was, and what you can do to help offset rising costs in retirement.

Increased Costs of Healthcare and Essentials Shocks Retirees

When it comes to what retirement pros say is the biggest thing seniors need to know about when it comes to inflation, they all say the same thing about how it impacts the costs of those things you cannot live without.

"Inflation can impact retirement in ways that are not always obvious at first," says Tyler End, CFP and Co-Founder/CEO of retirement planning company Retirable. "The main effect is how pricing increases ripple through the rest of your financial life." End says that the categories that most often catch retirees off guard are healthcare costs and taxes.

Related: The Best Strategies To Protect Your Social Security From the IRS

"State income and property taxes can change dramatically when you move," he continues, saying that even in “tax‑friendly” states, higher real estate prices or sales taxes can offset savings. "On top of that, retirees also overlook the taxes triggered by mandatory IRA withdrawals or Roth conversions."

Retirees Underestimate Inflation Risks

Daniel Gleich, a Board Member and Shareholder at Madison Trust Company, a Self-Directed IRA custodian, says that inflation erodes purchasing power at a time when retirees need to make the most of the money they have.

"Even modest inflation can reduce the value of your savings," Gleich says. "What seems to be a comfortable nest egg today can potentially fall short in covering essential expenses like healthcare and housing later in retirement." However, he also says there are steps you can take to mitigate your risks.

Related: How Living In These States Could Shrink Your Social Security Check

You Can Make Financial Moves to Help With Inflation in Retirement

Nobody likes thinking about how all of their careful planning and saving won't be enough to keep them afloat during retirement. However, Gleich says there are things that money-savvy retirees can do to prepare for inflation, and that includes creating a diversified strategy that includes income-producing assets that can help offset inflation over time.

He says this may include"

  • Private lending
  • Real estate
  • Precious metals
  • Other alternative assets that have stood up to inflation in the past

"This is where Self-Directed IRAs can play a valuable role," he continues. "Unlike standard retirement accounts that are often limited to stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, a Self-Directed IRA allows investors to diversify into alternative assets such as real estate, private equity, and more."

Related: Apparently, the Future of Social Security Isn't All Doom and Gloom

These assets are not normally connected to Wall Street markets, according to Gleich, which allows them to act as a hedge against inflation, while also potentially generating passive income even during retirement. "Retirees can plan for inflation by regularly reviewing their strategies, budgeting for future costs, and building a flexible, diversified portfolio."

Of course, things can change in an instant. So, if you're worried about how inflation will impact your retirement, you may want to reach out to a retirement professional to talk about what steps you can take now to give yourself an added layer of protection as prices continue to rise.

1991 Hit Ranked ‘Best Action Movie of the ‘90s’ Is a Sequel Full of Thrilling Twists

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:17pm

When it comes to '90s action flicks, Terminator 2: Judgement Day tops the rankings.

The 1991 film, directed by James Cameron, is a sequel to the 1984 original. But the sequel, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, and Robert Patrick, earned so much acclaim that it became a critical and commercial success. That's why the movie tops SlashFilm's list of the "15 Best Action Movies of the '90s, Ranked."

"Drama, humor, and twisty paradoxes share the screen with big, practical stunts and brilliantly crafted sequences, resulting in one of Cameron's best movies," the description reads.

If you need a quick refresher on the classic, check out the trailer below:

Linda Hamilton Has Faced Mental Health Struggles

Hamilton, 69, revealed in 2004 that she had both bipolar disorder and depression. But in a recent interview with PEOPLE, the beloved actress, who appears in Stranger Things and  Resident Alien, opened up about her mental health journey along the way.

“Nobody ever thinks that I’m going to struggle. They think I’ll be fine — ‘It’s Linda Hamilton,'” the star told the publication.

Luckily, after years of working through her difficulties, Hamilton has found a system that works for her.

“I have found just true balance and steadiness in my day and in my life,” she explained. “And I also can activate all of the safeguards that I learned from 20 years of therapy.”

Therapy was her best investment, Hamilton explained.

“I can apply the brakes because I spent years and years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to get better,” she noted.

When it comes to her advice for other people who are struggling, Hamilton has plenty of thoughts.

“People just can’t give up on themselves. That’s the thing. It’s just keep looking until you find your way through it. I’m living proof that it can be done,” she said, joking, “And I was a hot mess for the first 40 years.”

She also advised people to focus on doing things for others and building self-esteem by doing esteemable acts.

“I never think about myself. That was the first 40 years. And when I got the balance, I made a deal with myself that it would never be about me again. And it hardly ever is. It’s just not about me,” she noted.

Hamilton Is Considering Ditching Acting for Grandparenting

Hamilton recently opened up about how she frequently says she’s considering quitting acting to soak up all the joy she gets from being a grandmother.

“I actually feel like we’ve known each other,” the mom of two told PEOPLE of her grandson. “There is something when we look at each other, and I’m like, ‘What is happening here?’ I don’t remember that feeling with my children. I mean, I guess you’re too busy raising them and being a single parent, but I have looked at this boy too many times now and just gone, ‘We’ve known each other,’ so it’s lovely.”

Everyone’s skin requires a consistent care routine—and not just for aesthetics. A healthy skin barrierhelps protect against inflammation, dehydration, bacteria, sensitivities and more—all of which could lead to redness or bacterial infections like cellulitis. Essentially, strong, resilient skin serves as daily protection for your complexion and overall health.

“The skin barrier refers to the outermost layer of the skin—the stratum corneum—which acts as your body’s first line of defense,” explains Dr. Rachel Westbay, a board-certified dermatologist based at Marmur Medical in Manhattan who’s widely recognized for her expertise in cosmetic and clinical dermatology. “It’s responsible for keeping water in and irritants, allergens and pathogens out. When it’s functioning well, your skin looks hydrated, smooth, and even-toned. When it’s compromised, you’ll often see dryness, sensitivity, inflammation and accelerated aging.”

You may be surprised to learn that your skin is your body’s largest organ and is made up of several tissues, including nerve, muscle, connective and epithelium. These tissues work collectively to perform essential functions.

A dermatologist plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating all skin conditions, from acne and rosacea to abnormalities and skin cancers. They can also tailor an effective treatment plan to best address your situation, including skincare regimens, laser therapy, anti-aging techniques to improve texture and tone, and more.

It’s essential to maintain a strong skin barrier, which is why we spoke with an expert to learn all about skincare. Dr. Westbay shares the morning routine she swears by to keep her skin barrier strong.

The Main Components of a Healthy Skin Barrier

Think of a healthy skin barrier as a “brick and mortar system.” The skin cells serve as the “bricks,” while lipids—cholesterol, fatty acids, and ceramides—are the “mortar” holding the bricks together.

“Natural moisturizing factors like glycerin and hyaluronic acid help attract and retain water, while a balanced microbiome supports overall skin resilience. All of these elements work together to maintain hydration and protect against environmental stressors,” Dr. Westbay says.

Signs Your Skin Barrier May Be Compromised

A healthy skin barrier should feel hydrated, comfortable and balanced. Common red flags that your skin barrier may be compromised include:

  • redness
  • increased sensitivity
  • flaking
  • tightness
  • new reactions to skincare products that never caused issues before

“Patients will often describe their skin as feeling ‘irritated no matter what they use,’” Dr. Westbay notes.

Everyday Habits That Can Damage the Skin

Cleansing your face can feel undeniably refreshing—but it’s important to not go overboard. Dr. Westbay notes that one of the most common culprits behind skin damage is over-exfoliation.

She also cautions against using too many active ingredients at the same time and skipping a crucial step: moisturizing. This is especially important for acne-prone individuals who worry moisturizer will intensify their breakouts.

“Environmental factors like cold weather and low humidity also play a role, as does inconsistent sunscreen use, which allows ongoing UV damage that weakens the barrier over time,” Dr. Westbay adds.

The Morning Routine a Derm Swears by To Keep Her Skin Barrier Strong

Now that you understand the importance of building and maintaining a strong skin barrier, let’s dive into Dr. Westbay’s regimen for her own skin. Her approach to skincare is always “support first, treat second.”

“[My personal] routine works because it prioritizes hydration, lipid support and protection—everything your barrier needs to function optimally,” Dr. Westbay points out, noting that she uses products that include ceramides, niacinamide and humectants for their healthy healing properties.

Related: Why Skipping This Step Can Undo Your Skincare Routine

“I consistently look for ceramides to replenish the lipid layer, niacinamide to support barrier repair and reduce inflammation and humectants like glycerin to draw water into the skin,” Dr. Westbay says.

Here are her daily skincare steps:

1. Cleanse gently, or simply rinse

The first step is gentle cleansing or simple rinsing.

“You don’t need to strip your skin in the morning,” Dr. Westbay advises. She uses Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleanser, which is free of essential oils, parabens, sulfates, microplastics and fragrance. The best part? This cleanser doesn’t cause breakouts and successfully washes away even the peskiest makeup.

“I am quite literally obsessed with this cleanser. It contains a hydrating triple-lipid complex restores ceramide and fatty acid levels depleted from age and environmental factors, a small particle hyaluronate blend that’s super hydrating and aloe, which is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, minerals and amino acids, and also helps the skin retain water,” Dr. Westbay tells Parade.

2. Use a hydrating serum that supports the skin barrier

Ingredients like glycerin and niacinamide are important to look for, as they double as soothing antioxidants. Choosing a serum that provides lightweight hydration and supports the skin barrier without overwhelming your skin is key. One of Dr. Westbay’s go-to’s is Cetaphil Advanced Defense Serum.

3. Moisturize

Consider this step non-negotiable. Moisturizing is essential to preserve the integrity of your skin barrier—even for those with oily skin.

“I am a firm believer that moisturizers do not need to be crazy expensive or fancy, particularly in the morning time,” says Dr. Westbay. “I like my morning moisturizer to be about barrier repair and hydration." She likes a formula that has natural lipids and fatty acids for skin barrier function.

Related:A Dermatologist Is Begging Women To Stop Making This Mistake With Their Beauty Blenders

4. Use a broad-spectrum SPF

One of the quickest ways for your skin barrier to break down is through sun exposure, so applying a broad-spectrum SPF every morning is essential—even throughout the cold weather months. For tint, Dr. Westbay uses the Revision Skincare Intellishade; when tint is not needed, she chooses Exuviance Age Reverse Day Repair.

“No amount of good skincare and/or treatments in the office are worth it if you are not protecting your skin every day against the number one thing that accelerates aging the fastest, and that is UV light,” Dr. Westbay says. “So, yes, SPF is an absolute must and my adherence to sun protection since I was quite young is a huge part, I think, of the reason why my skin quality is what it is.”

Achieving happy, healthy, glowing skin starts with your morning skincare routine. Dr. Westbay’s insight can get you moving in the right direction.

What Is 'Margo’s Got Money Troubles' About? Cast, Release Date and How to Watch

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:13pm

Margo's Got Money Troubles has a sweeter story than you might think.

Based on the book of the same name, the series stars Elle Fanning as the titular Margo, who finds herself pregnant and broke after hooking up with her community college professor (Michael Angarano). In order to stay afloat financially, Margo turns to OnlyFans to support herself and the baby on the way.

Fanning told PEOPLE that she created a real OnlyFans account to prepare for the role.

“Obviously, I am an Instagram user and a TikTok user. I got to look at that,” she said. “Also, we had to dive into OnlyFans a little bit. We did create an account for the writer's room, and for me, so I could check out how the website is. There was a lot of looking at OnlyFans with the writers, but we all gave consent to each other before we did it,” she added. “We were very responsible and we just tried to get as much information as we could before we started.”

Booking.com Hit by Insane Data Breach— Here’s What To Do if You Have an Upcoming Trip

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:11pm

If you’ve booked a hotel recently through Booking.com, you might have noticed something unsettling: messages that look legitimate but feel slightly off, urgent payment requests, “last-minute confirmation” emails, or texts that seem tied directly to your reservation.

Security researchers and travel industry reporting have flagged a wave of phishing attacks targeting Booking.com users and hotel partners. The key issue is not a single massive breach of customer databases, but rather that attackers are exploiting hotel and messaging systems tied to reservations to send convincing fake requests. This distinction matters because even though your booking is safe, the messages you are receiving might not be.

Sign up for our newsletter and get hidden gems, travel secrets, and stories like this delivered straight to your inbox!

What’s Actually Going On With Booking.com Messages

This situation is less about a single “hack” and more about a chain of smaller vulnerabilities. According to Booking.com guidance, attackers have been using phishing techniques and compromised partner accounts to send messages that appear legitimate. These often mimic real hotel communication on booking platforms, making them especially convincing.

Related: Travel Influencer Exposes One of the Sneakiest Tourist Scams in Popular Italian City

In some cases, travelers report being asked to “reconfirm payment” or “verify identity” shortly before arrival. The urgency is intentional. The most important takeaway is that this is not always a traditional data breach. It is often social engineering layered on top of real reservations.

Red Flags Travelers Should Watch For (Before Clicking Anything)

Most of these scams work because they feel normal. You are already in “trip mode,” so a message about your reservation does not immediately raise suspicion. Here is what security experts consistently warn travelers to look out for:

  • Requests for payment outside the official Booking.com platform.
  • Messages that create urgency, like “within 2 hours” or “reservation will be canceled.”
  • Links that do not lead to official Booking.com domains.
  • Emails or messages asking for credit card updates after you have already paid.
  • Slight spelling changes in hotel names or sender addresses.
  • QR codes sent unexpectedly for “check-in verification.”

Scams used to be obvious. Fake vacation giveaways. Poorly written emails. Now, attackers are inserting themselves into real systems and piggybacking on real reservations. A travel platform like Booking.com sits in a unique position. They connect millions of hotels and travelers in real time, which means even small vulnerabilities in partner systems can create believable communication pathways for attackers.

What You Should Actually Do If You Have a Trip Coming Up

This is the part travelers actually need, not panic, but a simple checklist. If I had a trip booked right now, here is exactly what I would do:

  • Open the official Booking.com app directly (not email links).
  • Confirm reservation details inside your account dashboard.
  • Verify the hotel’s contact number from Google Maps or the hotel website.
  • Call the hotel directly if anything feels even slightly off.
  • Never enter payment details through a message link.
  • Enable two-factor authentication on your travel account.
  • Screenshot your confirmed reservation details before traveling.

Booking.com itself advises users to report suspicious messages directly through its platform rather than responding to them. One small habit change makes a big difference here: treat your inbox as untrusted, but your app as the source of truth.

Stay in the loop with fresh travel stories and updates—subscribe to our newsletter.

The Traveler Reality Check: You Do Not Need to Panic

Most bookings are still completely safe. Most trips go exactly as planned. The issue is not that travel platforms are unusable, but that communication around travel has become a new attack surface.

The smartest travelers are not the ones who stop booking. They are the ones who slow down before reacting. Personally, I never respond to a booking message directly anymore unless I first verify it inside the app. It takes 20 seconds and removes almost all risk. Travel is still meant to feel exciting. You just cannot let urgency messages do the thinking for you anymore.

Prince Harry Follows in Mom Princess Diana’s Footsteps During Hospital Visit With Meghan Markle

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:09pm

Like mother, like son. Princess Harry and wife, Meghan Markle, recently visited the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, during a visit to Australia. And while the entire trip was special, this stop had extra significance for the Duke of Sussex.

Harry’s royal mum, Princess Diana, and her then-husband Prince Charles (of course, now King Charles) visited the same hospital in 1985. This time around, the staff, patients, and families welcomed the new Duke and Duchess. The royal couple spent time with the children, shaking hands and taking pictures. They also toured the facility before saying their goodbyes.

Is this Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first trip to Australia?

This is the first ‘down under’ visit for Harry and Meghan in almost eight years. The couple visited Australia in October 2018 for a 16-day tour, where they first announced Markle’s pregnancy (with the pair’s first child, son Archie).

When did Princess Diana visit the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne?

Back in October of 1985, Charles was still a prince, and Diana had just given birth to Harry. The young Duke of Sussex was only a year old when his famous parents went on a 13-day tour of Australia.

A trip to a children’s hospital wasn’t out of the norm for Diana. She was known for her relentless commitment to humanity, taking an early lead in HIV activism and supporting the homeless through her royal charity efforts. In a statement to the British Red Cross, Activenture Camp (a program in East Sussex for children with disabilities) youth officer Barbara Summerfield said of the Princess, “What went down well, more than anything else, was that Diana was a real person who the children could talk to.”

British Red Cross president for Greater Manchester, Edith Conn, added, “When she spoke to you, she looked directly at you…You felt as though she was really very interested in what you did and what you had to say.” And of course, Prince Harry wants to follow in his mother’s footsteps. But it looks like the current Duke of Sussex has some pretty big shoes to fill.

In 2022, Prince Harry spoke to People Magazine, opening up about his mother and sharing, “I certainly hope and believe everything I do makes her proud.” He went on to add, “I honor my mother in everything I do. I am my mother’s son.”

Based on the responses to his latest tour, Prince Harry’s fans already think he’s living up to his mother’s memory. When People recently posted pics of the couple’s trip on Instagram, some critics slammed the pair for seeking out the spotlight. But others had a softer view, with one commenter writing, “Diana used to bring William and Harry to hospitals and homeless shelters, showing them that there are other people that are more important than royals. He is visiting a children’s hospital and a veteran’s museum, showing his respect and compassion for people.”

An Iconic Las Vegas Restaurant Will Close Its Doors Forever In August 2026

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 1:08pm

After nearly three decades on the Las Vegas Strip, one of the city’s most celebrated dining destinations is preparing for its final curtain call. Le Cirque, the legendary French fine-dining restaurant inside Bellagio, will permanently close after dinner service on August 23, 2026, marking the end of an era for luxury dining in Las Vegas

Why Is Le Cirque Closing?

While the closure may feel sudden to longtime fans, it reflects a broader reality of Las Vegas: constant reinvention. MGM Resorts has announced plans to replace the restaurant with an entirely new dining concept, expected to debut in mid-2027.

Unlike some restaurant closures driven by financial struggles, Le Cirque’s exit appears to be part of a strategic refresh of the Bellagio’s culinary lineup. Las Vegas is known for evolving quickly to stay competitive, and even iconic venues eventually make way for new experiences.

Still, the decision is significant. Le Cirque is a destination with deep roots in fine dining history.

What’s Replacing It?

Details about the replacement concept remain limited, but what’s clear is that the Bellagio is planning something new and modern to take over the space.

If history is any indication, the replacement will likely be a high-end, globally recognized concept designed to attract the next generation of luxury travelers. The Bellagio has consistently refreshed its restaurant lineup over the years, swapping out older venues for trend-forward dining experiences.

For now, though, the spotlight remains on Le Cirque and its final months.

Why Le Cirque Is So Iconic

To understand why this closure matters, you have to understand what made Le Cirque special. Originally inspired by the famed New York restaurant of the same name, Le Cirque opened at the Bellagio in 1998 and quickly became one of the most prestigious dining rooms in Las Vegas.

It earned top honors, including the AAA Five Diamond Award and Forbes Five-Star recognition, placing it among the elite restaurants in the country.

But beyond accolades, it was the experience that made it unforgettable. The restaurant’s whimsical, circus-inspired interior, complete with vibrant colors and theatrical design, felt unlike anything else on the Strip.

Then there was the food: refined French cuisine served as multi-course tasting menus, paired with an extensive wine list and impeccable service. For many diners, Le Cirque was a once-in-a-lifetime experience reserved for special occasions.

How to Get a Reservation Before It Closes

If you’ve ever wanted to dine at Le Cirque, now is the time. Reservations are expected to become increasingly difficult as the closing date approaches, especially for weekends and special occasions. The restaurant is already known as one of the most sought-after bookings on the Strip.

Here’s how to secure a table:

  • Book as early as possible: Reservations can fill up weeks (or even months) in advance
  • Opt for weekday dining: Mondays and Thursdays tend to be slightly less competitive
  • Choose earlier seatings: Early dinner times often have better availability
  • Call directly for special requests: The restaurant is known for accommodating celebrations and preferences

Expect a formal, fine-dining atmosphere. Tasting menus can be a splurge, but for many, it’s worth it for a final taste of a Las Vegas institution.

A Final Chance to Experience a Legend

Las Vegas is a city built on change, but some closures hit harder than others. Le Cirque helped define what luxury dining on the Strip could be: elegant, theatrical, and unforgettable.

As it prepares to close in August 2026, travelers have a limited window to experience a true piece of culinary history. Because once it’s gone, it will be the end of an icon.

'Dr. Pimple Popper' Sandra Lee Reveals She Had an On-Set Stroke During Season 2 Filming

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 12:50pm

TV's beloved Lifetime dermatologist, Sandra Lee, opens up about the frightful medical emergency that occurred last November. The Dr. Pimple Popperstar revealed she suffered a stroke that paused Season 2 filming.

Dr. Lee spoke about the ordeal in an exclusive with People and detailed how she felt something wasn't right while on set. It occurred on Nov. 20 of last year while she was at her practice in Upland, California, seeing patients like any other day. While the cameras were rolling, she thought she was experiencing a "hot flash" and got "super sweaty" and simply wasn't feeling like herself.

After filming, she made the short trip to her parents' home that close to her office. Dr. Lee remembers feeling incredibly restless, and "in one leg I kept feeling shooting pains." Unable to sleep, she had gotten up to get something to eat when she "noticed that I was having a tough time walking down the stairs."

She knew something was wrong the following morning and soon realized the possibility of having a stroke. The dermatologist realized her hand would "slowly collapse" when holding it out and was having a tough time "articulating and just enunciating." Her father, also a dermatologist, told her she needed to go to the hospital immediately.

After a few tests, it was revealed that Dr. Lee had suffered an ischemic stroke. It's when brain cells are being deprived of oxygen and necessary nutrients because blood vessels to the brain are blocked.

“It was just a shock,” said Lee. “As a physician I couldn’t deny that I had slurred speech, that I was having weakness on one side, but I was like, ‘Well, this is a dream, right?’ What essentially happened is I had a part of my brain that died."

View this post on Instagram

Due to the stroke, Dr. Lee immediately halted filming of Season 2 and took two months to recover from the effects of the stroke. She underwent physical and occupational therapy to regain her balance and movement.

“I don’t like that I don’t have total control of my left hand or the grip wasn’t as strong. If I feel like I’m not at my best—it’s very scary," she said.

Looking back at what occurred, she admits that her blood pressure and cholesterol were "not under control" and are a major risk for a stroke. Her symptoms have since been resolved, with her on blood thinner medication and continuing physical therapy.

“Thankfully I’m pretty much back to normal. . . . It really makes you realize how precious life is," she added.

1990s-Era 'SNL' Star Chris Parnell Voted 'Most Underrated Cast Member' in Show's History

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 12:47pm

As expected from any show that's been on as long as Saturday Night Live,NBC's hit sketch comedy series has helped some of the biggest names in comedy get their start in the mainstream entertainment industry.

Whether looking at early cast members like John Belushi and Bill Murray or more recent breakout stars like Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph, SNL has long featured some of the most talented comics working today.

Of course, with literally dozens of comedians joining the series' cast list at some point in time, it's fair to assume some of SNL's more standout cast members have sadly failed to gain the recognition they rightfully deserve.

In a recent poll from Vulture, 65 cast members and writers who worked at SNL shared their thoughts on the show's most under-utilized players. In tallying the votes, Vulture found that '90s-era SNL star Chris Parnell and 2010s cast member Tim Robinson were definitively ranked as the show's most underrated cast members of all time.

A mainstay on SNL from his initial appearance in 1998 to his eventual departure in 2006, Parnell was often cast in buffoonish straight man roles that clashed humorously well with some of SNL's more outlandish cast members at the time.

As Vulture wrote of the comedian, Parnell served as something of "a thankless workhorse and under-the-radar MVP."

"Jerry Minor describes him as a performer 'who could do it all but was also content to do 'what was asked of him," the outlet continued.

In contrast, Robinson's popularity more directly aligned with his widespread popularity for his various post-SNL ventures, including his sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave and the more recent surreal mystery series, The Chair Company.

Trailing by just one vote behind the two was influential 2000s-era talent Will Forte, who many fans agree is among the most underrated performers Saturday Night Live has ever featured.

"Will Forte is the most underrated cast member ever," one fan shared on Reddit. "I’ll die on this hill."

The Perfect Novel for ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Is Out Today — And There Needs To Be a Sequel!

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 12:46pm

There’s nothing that really feels like Only Murders in the Building on TV, so we need to turn to books. The good news is that there’s a new release that will give you fresh and fun vibes, while unraveling a mystery.

It’s all about The Insomniacs by Allison Winn Scotch, which is now out in bookstores nationwide. While on the surface it’s a story of four people who can’t sleep, there’s heart, mysteries, and a question of life all thrown in.

‘The Insomniacs’ Will Take You on a Fun Ride

Not all thrillers need to be dark and twisty. One of the reasons Only Murders in the Building succeeded so much is that it brought fun to the genre. There was the ability to capture the podcasting craze, while also touching on found family and how age really is just a number.

That’s something The Insomniacs brings to light, as well. Yes, there is a mystery and there are questions about how well we know the people in our lives, but this is also a fun story with plenty of jaw-dropping drama mixed in.

Each of the characters is in a different stage of their lives. One is a retired man with secrets; one is a middle-aged woman who could have been an amazing surgeon; one is a 30-something baseball player; and one is a waitress who doesn’t want to get close to anyone. They each have one thing in common, though: they can’t sleep.

Yet, when one of them goes missing, things take a turn that you won’t initially see coming. Of course, for us as the reader, it’s easy to figure out what’s going on along the surface, but there is something much deeper and bigger at place that will leave you needing more.

Penguin Random House

Jaw-Dropping Moments That Make a Sequel Necessary

It’s rare that I want a sequel to a thriller. I’m usually quite happy with just the one story, as the mystery has been solved. However, The Insomniacs leaves things in a way that Only Murders in the Building does at the end of each season — with another mystery to solve.

Sort of, anyway.

While the main mystery is solved, there is something bigger at play. It all involves the wrong people going down for particular crimes, with the actual perpetrator being left with an element of freedom. However, that freedom isn’t true freedom. I know how vague that is, but I don’t want to ruin the twist at the end for you. Trust me when I say you will completely understand when you get to the last few pages.

There is a plot twist about halfway through that made me go back and read the blurb. I thought I knew what was going to happen going into this book. I thought I’d figured out who was going missing. Then the plot twist happened, and I had to figure out if I’d read the blurb right. Then I had to figure out if I’d read the first chapter right.

Everything I thought was true wasn’t, and it’s rare that a book does that to me. Funnily enough, it’s been two books in a row that have managed to leave me completely shocked at points. The other was Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. It was that point that I felt like I was in the world of Only Murders in the Building, and I could just see the trio doing a podcast about the mysteries. Only, The Insomniacs got to it first.

While there are twists, there is a heart to the story as well. This is more than just a hunt for a friend. Each of the characters needs to learn a lesson about themselves, and there are discussions about life after injuries, divorce, retirement, and much more. What do you do when your Plan A has been burned? It's a story we can all probably relate to in some way.

The Insomniacs is now out, and it definitely needs a sequel!

Little Debbie Donut Line That’s ‘Consistently Selling Out’ Gets Its First New Flavor

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 12:43pm

Another week, another new Little Debbie release—and this one hopes to ride the success of its "top-performing" predecessor.

Recently, fans have been treated to a first-ever ice cream bar version of its iconic Oatmeal Creme Pies, as well as a new Soft Baked cookie line and spring-inspired renditions of fan favorites. Now, Parade has learned that Little Debbie is addressing fans' "deep hunger for bakery-style classics" with another newcomer, one that's the perfect combination of "nostalgic texture and modern convenience."

On Tuesday, McKee Foods—the parent company of Little Debbie—announced that its new Chocolate Old Fashioned Donuts would arrive in stores soon.

"We saw an incredible response to the Old Fashioned Donut we introduced last year," Scott Brownlow, brand manager at Little Debbie, explained in a statement talking about the brand's June 2025 release, which the company later added that it has seen "exceptional retail performance" and has been "consistently selling out."

"We're doubling down on what works and giving both loyalists and new fans an irresistible reason to head back to the store," Brownlow added.

Little Debbie Expands Old Fashioned Donut Lineup With New Chocolate Flavor

Little Debbie's new Chocolate Old Fashioned Donut combines the brand's rich chocolate flavor profile, signature golden-brown ridges, with a moist, crumbly texture that defines an old-fashioned cake donut, according to the April 14 press release.

This single-serve option combines nostalgic comfort with everyday affordability, making it the perfect companion for a morning coffee or a midday break.

Even better, the new chocolate flavor is joining the original Old Fashioned Donut as a permanent staple in the Little Debbie's growing snack lineup—something fans aren't taking for granted, like popular food blogger Snackolator, who joked that "we have no chance" in a recent Instagram post highlighting the "goodness" coming soon.

Controversial 'Rolling Stone' Cover Goes Viral 16 Years Later: Here's Why

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 12:17pm

Yesterday, April 13, a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted an image of Rolling’ Stone’s September 2010 issue

On it, the three leads of Alan Ball’s award-winning True Blood series — Alexander Skarsgård, Anna Paquin, and Stephen Moyer — pose nude, spattered with blood, and strategically blocking each other’s private regions. (See the full image here.)

View this post on Instagram

An account that celebrates horror aesthetics, the social media user posted the image with the caption: ”True Blood was insane for this.” At this time, the post has nearly 1,000 comments and 45,000 likes, with fans reliving the phenomenon that gifted the world with one of the greatest love triangles of all time.

Premiering in September 2008 on HBO, True Blood reinvented the vampire subgenre, transforming it into darker, sexier, unapologetic prestige television, while introducing a world where vampires live openly thanks to a synthetic blood substitute.

Centered on a telepathic waitress (Paquin), the series pulled audiences into a supernatural web of romance, murder, and shifting power — and helped spark the vamp craze of the late 2000s, early 2010s.

Rolling Stone is no stranger to controversy; rather, it welcomes it. Further controversial covers over the years include the Charles Manson cover and interview in 1970, the image of Yoko Ono and a nude John Lennon photographed by Annie Leibovitz in 1980, and the August 2013 issue featuring the Boston Marathon bomber.

But as Drescher has been having a career renaissance, the actress has never forgotten where she came from. That's why we loved this moment where she snuggled in bed with her sweet mother.

Stephen King Ruled Horror Every Year of the '90s — Except One

Tue, 04/14/2026 - 12:09pm

The 1990s were a strange time to love horror. The genre's mass-market paperback boom had peaked, the bookstore shelves were crowded with legal thrillers andDanielle Steel romances, and yet horror kept climbing the Publishers Weekly annual fiction charts. Every single year it was on the shoulders of one man, with one very notable exception.

Here's the top horror fiction breakdown for each year of the '90s:

1990 — Four Past Midnight, Stephen King King opened the decade with this collection of four novellas, landing at No. 2 on the Publishers Weekly annual fiction bestseller list. The book (including 'The Langoliers' and 'Secret Window, Secret Garden') won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Collection that year and hit No. 1 on the New York Timesweekly fiction chart. Four novellas, one monster sales figure.

1991 — Needful Things, Stephen King Billed as the 'Last Castle Rock Story,' Needful Things came in at No. 3 on the Publishers Weekly annual fiction list. A new shop opens in King's fictional Maine town with a devilish proprietor offering irresistible bargains...at a cost. The novel later became a 1993 film. Castle Rock would never be the same, and King's grip on horror readers remained total.

1992 — Dolores Claiborne, Stephen King The only year in the decade that a horror novel sat atop the entire Publishers Weekly annual fiction chart. Dolores Claiborne was No. 1 overall, ahead of The Pelican Brief, ahead of everything. The psychological portrait of a Maine housekeeper accused of murder contained almost nothing supernatural, yet it was pure King, dark, relentless, and impossible to put down. Kathy Bates starred in the 1995 film adaptation.

1993 — Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Stephen King King's short story collection, 23 tales, each with an author's note, debuted at No. 5 on Publishers Weekly's annual fiction chart, ahead of Anne Rice's Lasher at No. 7. It spent 15 weeks on PW's weekly bestseller list.

1994 — Insomnia, Stephen KingThe Chamber by John Grisham went to No. 1 that year, but the top horror title was King's Insomnia at No. 5 on the Publishers Weekly annual fiction list, with Anne Rice's Taltosat No. 12. The 800-page novel follows an elderly widower plagued by sleeplessness and increasingly vivid hallucinations that grow impossible to distinguish from reality.

1995 — Rose Madder, Stephen King The Rainmaker pushed Grisham back to the top, but King placed Rose Madderat No. 7 on Publishers Weekly's annual fiction chart. The novel, about a woman who escapes an abusive husband and discovers a mysterious painting that takes on a life of its own, is one of King's more underrated titles of the decade.

1996 — Desperation, Stephen King In one of the most remarkable maneuvers in publishing history, King released two novels simultaneously in September 1996 under different names, Desperationas Stephen King and The Regulators as Richard Bachman. Both made the Publishers Weekly annual fiction chart: Desperation at No. 3, The Regulators at No. 5. Desperation, set in a Nevada mining town terrorized by a demonic sheriff, was the unambiguous horror entry.

1997 — Wizard and Glass, Stephen King King's only major release of 1997 was the fourth volume of The Dark Tower series, and it debuted as a No. 1 national bestseller. While the series blends fantasy, Western, and science fiction, Wizard and Glass contains substantial horror elements, including a Stand-style superflu apocalypse, and no other horror title came close to its commercial impact that year.

1998 — Bag of Bones, Stephen KingKing's first book with Scribner placed at No. 3 on the Publishers Weekly annual fiction list, behind Grisham and Tom Clancy. Bag of Bones, a ghost story about a grieving novelist who retreats to his Maine lake house, won King the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel and marked what many critics called a maturation in his writing. He had not lost his readers.

1999 — Hannibal, Thomas Harris The decade's lone exception to King's dominance. Thomas Harris's long-awaited sequel to The Silence of the Lambs ranked second on Publishers Weekly's 1999 annual fiction chart, second only to Grisham's The Testament, capitalizing on the character's cult following from the earlier novel and its film adaptation. The book moved millions of copies and Dr. Lecter devoured the competition. In nine of ten years, Stephen King was the best-selling horror author in America. Thomas Harris took the one that got away.
