According to a new post shared on Instagram, the 82-year-old folk and psychedelic singer Linda Perhacs has reportedly gone missing.

The social media post specifically claimed that Perhacs has yet to be seen eight months after she left a residential care facility.

"LINDA PERHACS FANS, WE NEED YOUR HELP. LINDA HAS GONE MISSING," the message began.

"Legendary singer-songwriter Linda Perhacs was discharged from a residential care facility approximately eight months ago under the supervision of her legal guardian," the post continued. "Since then, friends and longtime collaborators have been unable to reach her and repeated attempts to contact her guardian have reportedly gone unanswered."

The post was penned by Perhacs' former manager, Laurel Stearns, who shared a similar statement with People magazine, adding further information about the singer's apparent disappearance.

Per Stearns' statement, Perhacs' friends weren't "alleging wrongdoing," but were instead “seeking confirmation that Linda is safe, well, and receiving appropriate care, while expressing concern over the prolonged absence of communication with a beloved public figure.”

“As a public artist whose work has profoundly influenced musicians and listeners around the world, Linda’s well-being is of genuine concern to a broad community of admirers and colleagues,” Stearns said.

“Those issuing this statement respectfully request that anyone with verified information regarding Linda Perhacs’s current condition or means of contact reach out to her authorized representatives or designated point of contact," the statement continued. "The intention is not to intrude upon her privacy, but simply to ensure that she is safe and to re-establish communication with someone whose artistic contributions continue to resonate across generations.”

According to writer Jessica Hundley (Rolling Stone), Perhacs reportedly has dementia. However, Rundley added that she and Perhacs' other friends and family members have “called elder care and filed several police reports and have now retained a private investigator to help in finding her.”

“We are taking all measures,” Stearns went on to say. “Our priority here is to get the word out and make sure that she is safe and comfortable.”

Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere had fans feeling nostalgic during their red carpet appearance at the premiere of upcoming FX series, The Shards, on Monday — over 30 years after their parents, Cindy Crawfordand Richard Gere, were married.

In footage captured by creator Mickey Blank, the model, 24, and Euphoria star, 26, were seen on the red carpet together ahead of the show's August 5th release date. Fans online couldn't help but remark on the pair's connection through their famed parents, who were married from 1991-1995.

"So funny their parents were married at one time," one commenter said, while a second agreed, "It’s weird - I remember when their parents were married!"

"Remembering when it was the height of excitement to catch Cindy and Richard out in the wild at their favorite, Il Cantinori," another added, referring to a New York City hot spot the two would frequent.

"Ok, this is a bit too full circle for me," another said.

And while Crawford, 60, and Richard, 76, have a history, Gerber told Entertainment Tonight that she and Homer had never crossed paths before they started working together.

"I actually had never met Homer until we started filming the show," she said. "I met him about a week before we started, but it was so nice and honestly such a joy to work with. He's such a lovely person, and you know, he grew up East Coast, I grew up West Coast, but we've just gotten so close, and I couldn't have picked a better scene partner."

"I was just excited to meet him, honestly, and my mom's coming tonight," she added when asked about Crawford's reaction to her daughter's co-star.

Following Richard and Crawford's split, the Pretty Woman actor went on to marry Carey Lowell in 2002, with whom he shares Homer with. The two divorced in 2016. Gere then married Alejandra Silva, in 2018, and the two share two children.

Crawford, for her part, married businessman Rande Gerber in 1998. Along with Kaia, the two also share 27-year-old Presley Walker Gerber.

Marianne Ihlen passed away ten years ago in Norway, aged 81. She might not be a household name, but she inspired one of the most famous love songs of all time.

Ihlen met Leonard Cohen on a Greek island during the 1960s and became lovers. The song she inspired – "So Long, Marianne" – was one of the songwriter's most enduring tracks.

During their first years together, Ihlen inspired several of Cohen’s songs. Alongside “So Long, Marianne,” she inspired “Bird On A Wire,” and "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye," and he dedicated his poetry collection, Flowers For Hitler, to her.

Ilhen described their meeting on the island of Hydra, explaining how she saw him standing in the doorway of a shop. "He was standing in the doorway with the sun behind him, and you don’t see the face, just the contours, and so I hear his voice saying 'would you like to join us? Come into the sun. We're sitting outside'. He was wearing a beautiful little sixpence cap. When my eyes met his, I felt it throughout my body," she said, per the Scotsman.

“Oh, those years were really good,” Ihlen told author Kari Hesthamar, per Uncut, about their time together. “Very good. We sat in the sun and we lay in the sun, we walked in the sun, we listened to music, we bathed, we played, we drank, we discussed. There was writing and lovemaking and…It was absolutely fabulous, you know, to have it like that. During five years I didn’t have shoes on my feet, you know…And I met many beautiful people. Now they are cast to the winds. Some are dead. Many are dead.”

Speaking to Canada’s CBC Radio, Ihlen’s friend and documentary maker Jan Christian Mollestad said that he had informed Cohen of Marianne's ill health and the "Hallelujah" singer had penned a letter just weeks before her passing.

A letter obtained by Cohen's estate reads: "I’m just a little behind you, close enough to take your hand. This old body has given up, just as yours has too. I’ve never forgotten your love and your beauty. But you know that. I don’t have to say any more. Safe travels old friend. See you down the road. Endless love and gratitude."

Leonard Cohen’s Facebook page also marked his muse's death. “The death last week of Marianne Ihlen, the woman immortalized in "So Long, Marianne", has evoked an overwhelming response from those who knew Marianne well, those who knew her only as Leonard Cohen’s muse, and even those who previously didn’t know there was a real Marianne,” a post said.

The 2014 book So Long, Marianne: A Love Story by Kari Hesthamar said she left Hydra in 1973. It alleges she moved back to her native Norway and started working for Norwegian Contractors, who specialized in the construction of offshore oil platforms. She continued to visit Hydra for vacations, her relationship with Cohen becoming distant after the birth of Cohen's son, Adam.

Leonard Cohen died four months after Marianne, in November 2016.

In 1978, Boston—comprising musicians Tom Scholz, Brad Delp, Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan and Sib Hashian—released a song that would inspire listeners for years to come; nearly five decades later, "Don't Look Back" remains a motivational hit. Written by guitarist and frontman Scholz, it was released as the lead single and title track from the rock band's second studio album, Don't Look Back. According to Scholz, "It was one of those things where everything clicked. I didn't even record a demo for that song. I came up with chord changes, melody, and the arrangement and put it right on the master tape."

"Don't Look Back" remains one of the band's biggest hits. It was a smash in the U.S. and internationally, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. In total, it spent 13 weeks on the chart. The single also hit No. 6 in Canada, and No. 43 in the UK.

At the time of writing, it had racked up more than 62 million Spotify streams and 18 million YouTube views, speaking to its timelessness and generational transcendance. Fans chimed in on the classic rock masterpiece, with one writing, "in my opinion, this song has the best guitar solo of all time," in Genius' comments section under the song's lyrics. "This is my favorite Boston song. The lyrics are so positive, so uplifting! You can do anything after hearing this," another added.

While some horror movies are just continuously horrifying, others give audiences a break from the scares with an occasional silly scene, quippy dialogue, or some slapstick humor. For instance, on July 27, the publication Collider released a list of several horror films that many viewers will likely have a blast watching.

The ranking, titled "the 10 most fun horror movies of all time," included films like 2011's The Cabin in the Woods, the 1986 musical Little Shop of Horrors, Gremlins, released in 1984, Army of Darkness from 1992, and 1975'sJaws. According to Collider, the John Landis-directed and written 1981 movie, An American Werewolf in London, is the "most fun horror movie of all time."

The film, which has a score of 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, focuses on David Kessler (David Naughton) after an unfortunate encounter with a werewolf. As reported by Collider, the movie not only has a good amount of comedy, but it's also famous for its special effects, specifically a horrifying moment where David grotesquely sheds his human form and becomes a werewolf.

In a 2019 interview on The Joe Rogan Experience, the special effects makeup artist on An American Werewolf in London, Rick Baker, shared some insight into the revered horror scene. Baker said that Landis had requested him to create a realistically violent werewolf metamorphosis sequence, as opposed to what had been portrayed in past werewolf movies, specifically, 1941's The Wolf Man, starring Lon Chaney Jr..

"He said, 'I want to do a transformation in a way that has never been done before. It doesn't make sense to me that a man changing in his body, going through this metamorphosis would sit in a chair like Lon Chaney Jr. and be still until he finished changing. Because I think it would be painful. And I want him to be able to move, and I want to show the pain. And how would you do that?' 'I have no f--king idea, but I would love to know.' Because we both love those transformation scenes," recalled Baker during the 2019 interview.

Baker also shared that the memorable effect was created with the help of fake hands, hair "punch[ed] through rubber" placed on Naughton's body, and rubber heads.

In the 1970s, Susan Dey became a household name as a star on The Partridge Family, but unlike many former teen idols of that era, she eventually chose a life far away from Hollywood’s spotlight.

First cast as Laurie Partridge on The Partridge Family at age 17, Dey had no prior acting experience. She was a star on the musical ABCsitcom from 1970 to 1974 and became representative of more empowering roles for young women on television.

Dey was still famous enough to host Saturday Night Live years later, and she used her monologue to joke about her role as the keyboard-playing eldest Partridge sister.

“For four years I was Laurie Partridge on The Partridge Family,” Dey said in 1992. “I’d like to think I broke some ground there, not because I  was a female musician competing in a man’s world but because I was the first teenager in prime time to wear a pantsuit.”

In the 1980s, Dey made a major transition from her teen sitcom role to a serious, dramatic actress. Her biggest post-Partridge role was playing Grace Van Owen on L.A. Law from 1986 to 1992. Dey starred on the show for six seasons and won a Golden Globe. Dey continued to act sporadically until 2004, when she logged her final acting role on an episode of Third Watch.

When she was still acting, Dey distanced herself from The Partridge Family. In her 2013 book, Shirley Jones: A Memoir, her former TV mom Shirley Jones wrote, “Out of everyone on the show, only Susan consistently refuses to take part in any TV reunions of The Partridge Family.”

Dey, now 73, ultimately made a move to New York with her husband Bernard Sofronski. In May 2026, her Partridge Family co-star Danny Bonaduce told the Pop Culture Retro podcast that fame in general just wasn’t Dey’s “thing” and that she had chosen to live a private life in upstate New York.

“She has a normal job in upstate New York,” Bonaduce claimed. “A regular job with an office, but I don’t know if she still does it.”

As of July 2026, Dey was listed as a member of the board of directors of the MARK Project, an organization that works to “build resilient rural communities” in the small towns of the Catskills.

In her bio for the MARK Project, Dey revealed why she was drawn to the Catskills region.

For three decades, Sheri Moon Zombie has been the visual soul of her husband's horror films, appearing on screen in every movie Rob Zombie has directed since she first showed up in his 1993 video for "Superbeast." This week she stepped behind a microphone for the first time, and the target she picked for her debut was a different kind of monster, namely AI.

"I Love My Robot" arrives as Sheri Moon Zombie's first-ever single and video, produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, the same producer behind the score for Rob Zombie's 2022 film "The Munsters." The track pulls from lo-fi punk, with the sound reportedly inspired by the Japanese band Shonen Knife. The video that accompanies it was directed by her husband, marking a rare instance of Rob Zombie pointing the camera at Sheri without casting her in one of his films first, a pattern that began with 2003's "House of 1,000 Corpses" and ran through "The Devil's Rejects," the "Halloween" remakes and 2022's "The Munsters."

Despite the title, the song isn't a tribute to technology. Sheri Moon Zombie chants that she doesn't need the AI, closing the song's hook with the line that it's "a vampire sucking me dry." The video stays true to the couple's shared taste for B-movie camp: Sheri appears as a cheerleader rallying support for a robot while dancing alongside machines styled after 1950s sci-fi props.

A press description of the single says the song is anti-AI but pro-Roomba, a distinction that fits the song's tongue-in-cheek approach to a serious debate playing out across the music industry over generative technology.

The track gets a physical release on October 30 as a limited 12-inch picture disc through Nuclear Blast Records. The B-side is Rob Zombie's own "Sir Lord Acid Wolfman," pulled from his eighth solo album, "The Great Satan," released in February.

The release comes as Rob Zombie prepares for the Freaks on Parade tour with Marilyn Manson, a 21-date co-headlining run that begins August 20 in West Palm Beach and closes September 20 in Concord, California, with support from The Hu and Orgy. It is the fourth time the two shock-rock veterans have toured together since 2012.

For a couple who built an entire cinematic universe out of horror movies, "I Love My Robot" harks back to the zany kitsch of Zombie's "More Human Than Human" video, and it's refreshing to see Sheri Moon Zombie breaking out on her own.

It's been a long time since audiences last saw Rick Moranis on the big screen. But fortunately, we won't have to wait much longer to see the influential Canadian comedian reprise his famed role as Dark Helmet in the upcoming sequel, Spaceballs 2.

After entering a 30-year long retirement in 1997 for personal reasons, the 73-year-old Moranis is officially returning to the entertainment industry with the highly anticipated comedy film, Spaceballs 2.

Reflecting on his return to the industry after his lengthy absence, Moranis told fans at Comic-Con just how strange the entire experience has been.

“Well, I kept having to pinch myself because I would look at Daphne [Zuniga] and Bill [Pullman] and George Wyner. And then there were all these young people,” Moranis said at the event (via People). “And I realized I was their age 39 years ago when we made this. And here we are now and my kids are the age of this.”

“I felt like I was in a time warp, but I was in that outfit and wearing the helmet," the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids star continued. "And it just felt very strange to be honest with you. But it started to feel really good and I really started to love it.”

Moranis's return comes 30 years after his previous role in 1997's Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves. While the actor has since occasionally appeared in voice acting performances, he has mostly been focused on his family, raising his two children after the tragic death of his wife in 1991.

Of course, the comedian remains well-known for starring in a variety of movies and TV shows throughout the '80s and '90s, including such hits as Second City Television, Strange Brew, Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Spaceballs and Parenthood, among many others.

Spaceballs: The New One will land in theaters on April 23, 2027, exactly 40 years after the original's release in 1987.

Bruce Campbell is going through his cancer battle with "tons of hope," as the actor gives an honest update months after revealing his diagnosis to fans.

The Evil Dead star took to social media months ago to announce that he was going through a health issue known as cancer. He added that his diagnosis was treatable, but not curable, without divulging the exact form of cancer. While assuring fans that he is a "tough old son-of-a-b*tch," he opened up on Tuesday's episode of the Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum podcast about the journey so far.

“I think I’m doing as well as you can do for having cancer," he said. “I go through most of my day not thinking that I have any cancer. It’s a bit of a whack-a-mole life that I have to get used to.”

Campbell admits that the first few months after receiving the diagnosis were a series of "bad" information coming his way. He adds that there was "a lot of schooling" and meetings that he didn't want to be a part of.

“For breakfast, we’d have a s--- sandwich with a side of what the f---,” he quipped. “That was a couple month period where the information would come in all of it’s cryptic or bad or whatever.”

Above all, the Burn Notice star says that attending the cancer meetings was his least favorite due to them being "boring" and "time-consuming." Especially since they are mandatory and he had to show up because of the scans. Reiterating his original post about his cancer diagnosis, he's not curable, and his form of cancer is "something that will be with me until I croak, which, with treatment, is earlier than you want to croak."

The actor had an optimistic view of his journey thus far and plans to do treatments that he can "deal with, and that works" for the time being. He's also realistic in understanding that "If your body wants to kill you, it’ll f---ing kill you," but still holds on to "tons of hope" for his future. The cancer diagnosis has even given the horror icon a new perspective on life.

“If you want to get your financial house in order from A to Z, get cancer. If you want to rekindle with friends and family that you haven’t talked to in decades, get cancer,” he said. “If you want to refocus your life, laser focus only on the things that bring you joy and remove the drudgery from your life forever, get cancer," he explained.

The actor isn't necessarily stepping away from his career, as he was the executive producer on Evil Dead Burn and the upcoming 2028 installment, Evil Dead Wrath. He also voices the character Stan in Invincible.

We're all heard of songs that were banned on the radio and such over the years.

One time, a controversial hit received so much heat that it was actually removed from the music artist's album entirely. Tuesday, July 28 marks exactly 34 years since Warner Bros. Records took said action.

To explain: Ice-T announced on July 28, 1992 that the label would pull "Cop Killer" from all future copies of his "Body Count" LP, per the Los Angeles Times.

The song was condemned by President George Bush and had been the target of protests from multiple law enforcement agencies, who said "Cop Killer" advocates the murder of police.

"The song isn’t just the only issue," Ron DeLord, president of the Combined Law Enforcement Assn. of Texas (CLEAT), said at the time, per the LA Times. "What bothered us was that this company was willing to exploit the advocation of the murder of police to earn a buck. We’re not going to be happy until Time Warner admits that they made a mistake.”

Ice, 68, had also announced that he would offer free copies of the song to anyone still interested in hearing it, saying, "I’ll bring it back to South Central and give it away free at concerts."

Earlier this year, the Grammy winner — who ironically plays an investigator on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit — opened up about his decision to change the "Cop Killer" lyrics while performing at Warper Tour. In January, he explained on The Breakfast Club how he modernized the title to fit the political climate targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, per Billboard.

“When I did that, that didn’t happen just recently; that happened in L.A. when we played the Warped Tour,” he said. “When I was there, ICE was active out there. I’m in the midst of ICE raids. I’m in front of an L.A. audience and it just came up.”

Soap opera legend Brenda Dickson has been arrested for battery.

A former Miss California who danced for the armed forces with Bob Hope, Dickson, 77, rose to stardom when she originated the role of Jill Foster Abbott on the beloved soap, The Young and the Restless. She starred on the series from 1973 to 1980, and then returned from 1983 to 1987.

Recent news indicates that Dickson is in a bit of trouble. TMZ.com is reporting that Dickson was arrested and booked on July 9 for misdemeanor battery on a person, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office. She was released that same day on her own recognizance. Both the identity of the victim and their relationship to Dickson were not released.

In addition to her time on The Young and the Restless, Dickson made appearances on Love, American Style, and Falcon Crest.

Dickson wrote a book, My True Hidden Hollywood Story: My Memoir of Sexual Harassment, Blacklisting, and Love Affairs with some of the most Powerful Men in Hollywood, in which she shared that she ended up broke and homeless after being blacklisted from Hollywood by legendary daytime producer William J. Bell, the New York Post reported.

“I am fighting back,” she told The Post at the time of the book's 2013 publication.

Dickson claimed she began an affair with Bell when she was just 21 years old. She was fired 15 years later and says she has been blocked from working in the industry ever since.

Dickson claims she also had relationships with everyone from retail icon Fred Segal and Congressman Barry Goldwater to On Golden Pond playwright Ernest Thomas and The Waltons star Richard Thomas.

If you take levothyroxine, you may want to check your medicine cabinet.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has classified a nationwide recall of certain levothyroxine sodium tablets as a Class II recall after the medication was found to be potentially "subpotent," meaning some tablets may contain less active ingredient than intended.

Levothyroxine is commonly prescribed to treat hypothyroidism and other thyroid-related conditions. The recalled medication was distributed by Major Pharmaceuticals, and the affected products include multiple strengths. The recall covers certain lots of 25 mcg, 50 mcg, 75 mcg, 88 mcg, 112 mcg, 125 mcg and 150 mcg tablets.

The FDA's Class II designation means the recalled products could cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences, although the probability of serious adverse effects is considered remote.

The recall was initiated by Major Pharmaceuticals on July 13 and classified by the FDA on July 17. The affected products were distributed nationwide.

If you take levothyroxine, check the medication's packaging against the FDA's recall information, including the product's strength, lot number and expiration date. If you discover that your medication is part of the recall, contact your pharmacist or health care provider about getting a replacement and what to do with the affected medication. Patients should not make changes to prescribed thyroid medication without medical guidance.

Hayley Erbert is mourning the loss of her beloved stepfather, Jim

"It has been a week since Jim left us earth side, a week since his beautiful soul was set free," Erbert captioned an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, July 28. "He was the best bonus dad there was, even though 'bonus' will never be a big enough word. He showed me that being a dad isn’t about biology. It’s about showing up. It’s about consistency, patience, protection, and love."

Erbert went on to say that she was "lucky" to have had Jim in her life, calling him selfless, kind, calm, and funny. She included some photos from her wedding to Hough taken in August 2023. The professional dancer also included some sweet memories of her and Hough's daughter, Everley, with Jim.

"To know him is to love him," Erbert continued. "Everley didn’t have nearly as much time with him as any of us wish she could’ve, but she now has the best guardian angel. I will love you forever, Jim. And I will miss you even more."

Many of Erbert's friends and fans left their condolences in the comments section of the post.

"Jim will always and forever live in our hearts as we continue to keep his presence alive. Love you Jim, wrapping you all in love," wrote Erbert's sister-in-law, Julianne Hough.

"I'm so sorry for your loss sending you and your family so much love," said former Dancing With the Stars pro Lindsay Arnold.

News of Jim's death comes more than one year after Erbert and Hough asked fans for their prayers as Jim, who had been diagnosed with cancer, was preparing for a "high-risk surgery to remove a large tumor."

Jim made it out of surgery, though Erbert's mom, Debbie Schwartz, admitted that he had a "long road ahead."

Erbert didn't share Jim's cause of death.

Mick Fleetwood is more than the man behind the band's name. He's the reason Fleetwood Mac survived its highest highs and lowest lows.

In the band's early years, Mick was constantly rebuilding the lineup as members cycled in and out. By the late 1970s, he'd become the glue holding the group together through drug abuse, infidelity and betrayals playing out among his bandmates.

The band started out as a blues combo, led by guitarist Peter Green. He, like Mick and bassist John McVie, had come up playing in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. 

When Peter named the group, he was already thinking about leaving it. "Because I knew I was probably going to leave," he later recalled, per BBC. "I always wanted Mick and John to have a job."

The band scored several hits in the late 1960s, including "Albatross," "Oh Well," and "Black Magic Woman." The latter would later become an international hit for Santana. 

At the same time, Peter’s life was unraveling. His song "The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)" hinted at the drug-induced psychosis that would soon end his time in the band.

"I don't know why I left the group in the end," Peter wrote in Mick’s book, Love That Burns. "I know that people looked at me like I was in a dream. I could tell that, even at the time."

After he departed, Fleetwood Mac went through several lineup changes. Eventually, the band brought in John's wife, Christine McVie, who'd already made a name for herself with the blues band Chicken Shack.

She'd go on to write several of the band's most beloved songs, including "Songbird," "Don't Stop," "Over My Head" and "You Make Loving Fun."

The band's next turning point came in 1974. While visiting Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, Mick heard "Frozen Love," a track from the album Buckingham Nicks. 

Impressed by Lindsey Buckingham's guitar work, Mick quickly offered him a spot in the band. Lindsey agreed, but only if his musical partner and girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, came along too. 

The duo officially joined Fleetwood Mac on December 31, 1974. It didn't take long for the Buckingham-Nicks lineup to change Fleetwood Mac's trajectory. 

The band's 1975 self-titled album sold more than 500,000 copies in its first year, driven by songs like "Rhiannon," "Say You Love Me," and "Over My Head." 

"Landslide" wasn't initially one of those hits, but it would become one of the band's signature songs.

With the five members of its classic lineup finally together, Fleetwood Mac found the combination that would define its sound. Lindsey, Stevie, Mick, Christine and John would soon turn the band's rock-and-pop blend into a worldwide phenomenon. 

But the band's success was soon shadowed by the end of Lindsey and Stevies’ relationship. The two split in 1976, just as Fleetwood Mac was about to begin recording Rumours. 

Their breakup became part of the music, with the tension between them surfacing in "Dreams," "Go Your Own Way," "The Chain" and "Silver Springs," which was left off the original album.

Released in 1977, Rumours has since sold more than 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums in music history.

Over the years, the lineup changed as members came and went. Lindsey left in 1987 and returned a decade later, while Stevie took breaks to focus on her solo career. 

Despite the ups and downs, Mick’s gamble on two relatively unknown musicians created something far greater than he could have imagined — and fans are grateful he took the chance.

On July 28, 1978—48 years ago today—National Lampoon's Animal House burst into theaters and forever changed the comedy genre.

Made for just $3 million, the irreverent college romp starring John Belushi became a surprise blockbuster, grossing more than $141 million worldwide and turning a raunchy fraternity comedy into one of Hollywood's most influential films.

Its legacy has only grown over the decades. For its special The 100 Funniest Movies of All Time, Bravo ranked Animal House at No. 1, while the American Film Institute placed it at No. 36 on its list of the greatest American comedies. Time Out included it among the 100 best comedy movies ever made, Esquire named it one of the 50 greatest comedies of all time, and WatchMojo ranked it No. 14 on its list of the greatest comedy films. Calling it the "definitive comedy about the college experience," WatchMojo said the film "paved the way for decades of frat-boy comedies" that followed.

Directed by John Landis and co-written by Harold Ramis, Douglas Kenney and Chris Miller, Animal House follows the misfit members of Delta Tau Chi as they battle the authoritarian Dean Vernon Wormer (John Vernon) at the fictional Faber College. Alongside Belushi's iconic performance as Bluto Blutarsky, the cast featured Tim Matheson, Donald Sutherland, Bruce McGill and several future stars who were just beginning their careers.

Few studio executives expected Animal House to become a phenomenon. Produced on a modest $3 million budget, the film became the highest-grossing comedy of its time and helped launch an entirely new style of filmmaking. Its anarchic humor inspired generations of movies, from Porky's and the Police Academy franchise to PCU and Old School, while toga parties exploded in popularity on college campuses after the movie's release.

The movie also delivered some of the most memorable moments in comedy history, from Bluto's chaotic food fight to the endlessly quoted lines "Toga! Toga!" and "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son." Nearly five decades later, those scenes remain as recognizable as ever.

While Belushi was already becoming a breakout star thanks to Saturday Night Live, several of his co-stars were making their film debuts or landing their first major roles. Kevin Bacon, Karen Allen, the late Stephen Furst and Thomas Hulce all appeared early in their careers, with Hulce later earning a Best Actor Oscar nomination for Amadeus.

The production also produced one of Hollywood's most famous financial what-ifs. Sutherland was offered either a percentage of the film's profits or a guaranteed paycheck for his brief role as Professor Dave Jennings. Believing the movie would be only a modest success, he chose the upfront salary, a decision he later estimated cost him roughly $14 million in missed earnings, according to an interview he did with Variety.

Today, Animal House is preserved in the National Film Registry and continues to influence filmmakers, comedians and audiences. Whether remembered for Belushi's unforgettable performance, its endlessly quotable dialogue or the blueprint it created for generations of college comedies, the 1978 blockbuster remains one of the defining comedy classics of the modern era.

In the early '70s, celebrated keyboard player Rick Wakeman released an ambitious progressive rock instrumental record that tells a captivating tale.

The Six Wives of Henry VIII was released on Jan. 23, 1973 and was Wakeman's first studio album as a solo artist. As the title suggests, the record portrays the Tudor King's six wives —Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr — but through dramatic instrumentals that have been split into six defining tracks.

Inspiration struck while the British musician was touring the United States with his band Yes. He had originally planned to work on a concept album around  Jules Verne’s classic fantasy novelJourney To The Centre Of TheEarth, but changed his mind at the last minute after picking up a copy of Nancy Bryson Morrison's The Private Life Of Henry VIII at an airport bookstore.

After becoming fascinated with the life of Anne Boleyn, Wakeman revisited a piece of music he had been working on for a year. Following this, he began working on the concepts for the King's five other wives.

"I started reading about another wife and these sounds just came into my head and the concept started to come to the fore," he said, per Louder Sound. "I came back to England, read up on Catherine Of Aragon and decided that the music wasn’t supposed to be linked to factual matters but would be more abstract."

Wakeman's record label, A&M, weren't keen on the album, but that didn't matter to him. It was a hit with music fans, and sold 15 million copies worldwide.

"I remember collecting my platinum discs from the head of A&M in the UK at Midem [yearly music conference in Cannes], and this was the bloke who hated it, and he stands up and says: 'Every now and then something special lands on your desk. And the moment this landed I knew we had something really special,'" the musician explained. "I’m standing there absolutely gobsmacked and as he passes me he whispers, 'Don’t say a word…'"

In 2009, Wakeman performed the album in its entirety for the first time at the 500th anniversary celebration of the King's accession to the throne. Shortly after, he released the live album, The Six Wives of Henry VIII Live at Hampton Court Palace, and in 2015, he reimagined the original album with a reissue that included a quadrophonic sound mix, along with bonus tracks.

Now, the Korean grocery giant is taking it one step further with the announcement of its first-ever cookbook, H Mart: The Cookbook, Essential Ingredients, Techniques and Korean Recipes, set to drop in October 2026.

Rather than simply offering a collection of recipes (though it does a great job of that), the cookbook is designed as a guide to cooking Korean food at home. Readers will find home cook-friendly recipes alongside ingredient info, cooking advice and shopping tips for navigating the aisles of H Mart.

The project was authored by Stacey Kwon, president of H Mart, in collaboration with chefs, food writers and recipe developers, and features a foreword by New York Times bestselling author Eric Kim (@ericjoonho). They share the stories behind many of Korea's most iconic dishes and the family connections and traditions behind each dish.

At a time when Korean cuisine is enjoying a boost in popularity around the world, the 75-recipe cookbook feels especially significant. It's meant to be both accessible to home cooks and act as a tribute to folks who grew up with these traditions and flavors.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service, an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture, has published an announcement regarding a Class I food recall for bacon distributed in several states.

The announcement from the federal agency states that Maple Leaf Foods, Inc., a company based in Lisle, Illinois, has issued a recall for approximately 12,036 pounds of not ready-to-eat smoked bacon product. The refrigerated smoked bacon was imported from Canada “without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States.”

The affected bacon was produced on June 9, 2026, June 10, 2026, June 12, 2026, June 13, 2026, and June 15, 2026 and can be identified via the following markers:

• 12-oz vacuum package of "Royale Natural Applewood Smoked ALL NATURAL Uncured Bacon Product of Canada" with sell by dates of "SEP 01 2026" and "SEP 07 2026" printed on the side of the package.
• 12-oz vacuum package of "TOP VALU Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon PRODUCT OF CANADA" with various sell by dates of "SEP 01 2026", "SEP 02 2026", "SEP 04 2026", "SEP 05 2026", and "SEP 07 2026" printed on the side of the package.

Additionally, the recalled product has Canadian establishment number “EST. 1” printed on the side of the package, with health certificate number “2026-S732971612” on master case boxes. The bacon was distributed to Grocery Outlet distributors and retailers in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

“FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase,” states the Class I recall notice.

According to the FSIS website, “a Class I recall involves a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

The Guthrie family wants answers.

Nancy Guthrie has been missing for nearly six months and a new plea from Savannah Guthrie was posted on Instagram on Monday, July. 27.

"It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed," Savannah said in a candid video posted to her Instagram feed. “We have done our part and we will never stop looking for her."

Some people wondered what Savannah meant when she said "we have done our part," particularly because it has been widely reported that the family did not pay the ransom request made by the alleged kidnappers.

The phrase quickly drew attention because of the unanswered questions surrounding the case, including the unverified ransom messages sent to news organizations in the days after Nancy's disappearance. While investigators have not confirmed the authenticity of those messages, they have continued to examine their origins as part of the broader investigation.

The FBI reportedly knew that Savannah was going to release the video, an FBI source told TMZ.

"Anniversaries are the time to go back to the public and reignite interest [in a case]," the source said.

The outlet also reported that there hasn't been any money deposited into the Bitcoin account that was listed in the unverified ransom note. An FBI source told the outlet that the Today anchor was "referencing the $1 Million reward for the recovery of Nancy."

"We've made no progress here. We have no idea where Nancy is or who kidnapped her," the source added.
