Disney World's 'Iconic' New Announcement Has Fans Saying Today Is the 'Best Day Ever'

Disney World just got an iconic new update—and it has fans feeling super nostalgic.

The Orlando, Fla., destination's official Disney Parks Instagram took to the platform on Tuesday, April 14, to share big news with visitors: the beloved Mickey Mouse sorcerer hat is back and has found a home again at Hollywood Studios.

"Imagineers are hard at work, as the newly reimagined area opens to guests on May 26, 2026, with 'The Magic of Disney Animation' to follow in late summer 2026 ✨," the world-renowned amusement park announced in the post.

According to Walt Disney World News Today (WDWNT), Mickey's giant sorcerer hat was installed by crew members last night outside of The Magic of Disney Animation, a new version of an old attraction opening this summer. Inspired by the facade of the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, Calif., the hat remains an iconic symbol, first worn by the legendary mouse mascot himself in the original 1940-released Fantasia. It was featured again in Fantasia 2000, per the Disney Wiki fandom page.

While an official opening date for The Magic of Disney Animation has yet to be revealed, the reimagined area is slated to include character encounters, an Alice in Wonderland-themed playground, and more, the outlet noted.

As for the 122-foot structure, it first debuted on March 28, 2001, at then-Disney-MGM Studios as part of the 100 Years of Magic celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort. In 2015, it underwent demolition, a project that took over 49 days to complete, Walt Disney World Magic reported.

It seems Disney fans have sorely missed it ever since.

Fans couldn't fly into the comments section quick enough, as they raved over the park update.

"The hat returns!!! She is risen!! 🙌" one rejoiced, while another was awestruck: "Was NOT prepared to wake up to my childhood being resurrected. 🥹💙🌙⭐️."

"This is so important to me omg," a third echoed, as a fourth scream-wrote, "WE’RE SO BACK 🥹."

Several more notes of elation poured in from Instagram users, who added things like, "Crying 🙌," "Ahhh that’s so cool to have this back at DHS 😍," "mgm vibes are BACK 🎬✨," "YES FINALLY 👏👏👏👏 CHILDHOOD RESTORED 🔥," "Iconic photo spot loading 😍😍😍," and "I’m so excited it is back! The magic just keeps coming ✨✨✨."

Two more insisted the update completely made their day, chiming in with, "Needed this news today ✊🏼" and "BEST 👏 DAY 👏 EVER 👏."

Meanwhile, some were hesitant, dropping remarks about the hat's former placement and appearance. "I mean it was there years ago in the center of the park. Not sure why yall removed it. Weird," one pointed out.

"Now bring it back in its full glory!!! seeing the hat in the center of the park was much more of a park icon than tower of terror. I want the hat back as a park icon!!" someone else added, with another insisting that something feels off about it: "Awww it’s kinda sad looking. Hoping it’s nice in person. It’s lacking that Disney magic touch."

Still, the resounding joyful reactions overcame the uncertainty: "Can’t wait to see it 🤩 So magical!"

Lena Dunham Shares Unexpected Details on Adam Driver's Role in One of the ‘Best TV Shows of the Century’

Lena Dunham revealed some shocking details about what it was like working with her Girls co-star Adam Driver.

The two starred in the HBO TV series, Girls, from 2012 to 2017. Dunham, the show's writer, creator and main protagonist, played Hannah Horvath, a narcissistic, self-absorbed, yet self-aware aspiring writer. Meanwhile, Driver played her on-and-off-again boyfriend, Adam Sackler. The comedy-drama that ran for six seasons, followed four unconventional female friends (Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna) who are in their 20s navigating careers, relationships and drama in New York City.

Since its debut, Girls received numerous accolades, including two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, a BAFTA Award and a Directors Guild of America Award. Dunham has been nominated for 16 individual awards for her role as the series lead, writer and producer. Several of Dunham's collaborators and cast have also been nominated for various awards, including co-stars Allison Williams and Driver, as well as recurring guest stars Riz Ahmed, Becky Ann Baker, Gaby Hoffmann, Andrew Rannells, Matthew Rhys, Peter Scolari and Patrick Wilson. In addition, TheGuardian placed the series in 18th place on their list of "the 100 best TV shows of the 21st century."

Dunham released her memoir, Famesick, on Tuesday, where she wrote about her experience with fame, health struggles and life in the spotlight. In one of the sections, she detailed what it was like to work with Driver, and how the on-and-off dynamic they portray in Girls wasn’t too different from their real-life relationship.

Their rocky friendship immediately started when they filmed the first season. Dunham wrote about a time when the two were filming their first sex scene, claiming the blocking they rehearsed ahead of time "went out the window" and "he hurled me this way and that."

“Stunned, I couldn’t speak for a moment, unsure of what had happened — had I lost directorial authority, allowed the scene to go off the rails, not given proper instructions? Would I be removed from my command post immediately?” she wrote. “It wasn’t that I felt violated — and I also wouldn’t know if I had, as there was little in my sexual life that I hadn’t allowed to happen, and for no pay. But I felt that something intimate, confusing and primal had played out in a scenario I was meant to control.”

Dunham also recalled another situation where Driver allegedly "hurled a chair at a wall" while rehearsing the final episode of Season 1. Dunham was just 24 years old when she was the showrunner of her first major show, and it was very stressful for her. In her memoir, she explained that when she feels stress, she tends to disassociate.

“I remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence,” she revealed. “Late one night, as we practiced lines in my trailer, I found that mine were suddenly gone. I knew I’d written them. I’d known them only minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stammer — until finally, Adam screamed, '[explicit] SAY SOMETHING' and hurled a chair at the wall next to me. 'WAKE THE [explicit] UP,’ he told me. ‘I’M SICK OF WATCHING YOU JUST STARE.'”

Despite the allegations, the Girls star and showrunner revealed some moments when Driver was particularly kind to her. With the constant hot and cold, Dunham admitted that she "spent an inordinate amount of time wondering if Adam liked" her.

“He could be short-tempered and verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing. He could also be protective, loving even,” Dunham wrote in Famesick. She also recalled a time when Driver came over to her apartment every night to keep her company when the actress was dealing with a lot of anxiety. When filming wrapped after six seasons, Dunham says Driver told her, “I hope you know I’ll always love you” before saying goodbye.

“Who knows — maybe I’d write him new parts. We would tell new stories. We would laugh at the way things had been, and smile at the way they were now,” Dunham concluded. “But I never heard from him again.”

Dunham's memoir Famesick is out now, while all six seasons of Girls can be streamed on HBO Max.

1976 Book Ranked Among the ‘Best Modern Horror Novels’—And It’s Not Stephen King

Goodreads members voted on the “Best Modern Horror Novels” with Stephen King books taking up most of the list. The Shining came in at number one, followed by 'Salem’s Lot, The Stand, and It. However, if you’ve already read through most of King’s work, there are plenty of other horror authors worth reading. One included toward the top of the list is Anne Rice.

Rice’s debut novel was Interview with the Vampire, a gothic story originally published in 1976. In it, a vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac tells a reporter about his life, which Amazon calls, “a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write.”

Although the book originally received mixed reviews, Rice went on to create several more in the series, which is now known as The Vampire Chronicles. Throughout the 1980s, she started to get more favorable reviews from both critics and fans.

As one reviewer said, “I thoroughly enjoyed this from beginning to end. This was pure gothic-vampire horror but presented in a way the characters all had human emotions and interpersonal problems. I really liked the descriptive imagery used throughout the entire story: from dark 1700s Louisiana to shadowy Old Country Europe. The tone contained all the elements of a good vampire/horror story: dark and gothic. These were real vampires that killed people; whether to feed or the thrill of the hunt.”

The book inspired the 1994 film with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, which has an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It also went on to become a hit AMC series that started in 2022, which has a critic score of 99%. Its third season is releasing in June 2026.

Rice wrote more than 30 books throughout her career, including the Lives of the Mayfair Witches, which also inspired a show on AMC, and Ramses the Damned. Overall, her books have sold over 100 million copies, making her one of the most successful authors of our time.

Other books on the “Best Modern Horror Novels” list includes The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson and Ghost Story by Peter Straub.

American Songwriter Names This 1972 Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings Hit a Timeless Classic

When it comes to country music’s elite, legends Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings are the kings of outlaw country music. One of the most prolific musical partnerships of the 1970s, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings’ legacies are often intertwined, with some of each artist’s most impactful work written and performed together. The pair is racking up another accolade for their work. Over 50 years later, American Songwriter is naming a Nelson and Jennings classic as one of the most relevant songs in music history.

A Timeless Classic Recognized

American Songwriter, the online publication focusing on connecting fans with the craft of music, names "Good Hearted Woman" a timeless classic that remains endlessly relevant. Partly inspired by singer Tina Turner, the song was written by Jennings and Nelson and was first recorded by Jennings as the title track of his 16th studio album Good Hearted Woman.

““I’d been reading an ad for Ike and Tina Turner,” Jennings shared (via Songfacts). “And it said, ‘Tina Turner singing songs about good-hearted women loving good-timing men.’ I thought, ‘What a great country song title that is!’””

The Iconic Duet Version

In 1976, Jennings released another version of "Good Hearted Woman," this time with Nelson accompanying on vocals. The duet version has its own lore—Nelson recorded his vocals separately, and the track was later combined with Jennings’ original recording, adding to its organic, collaborative feel.

Jean Smart on Deborah Vance's Interior Design Style on Hacks

"I think [Deborah] craves respect so much, that I think it was very important to her to have a house that was very classic," Jean Smart explains in the video. "Not Liberace glam, not bright colors that we see a lot in Vegas desert homes. She's a lot more complicated than that."

That said, Smart believes Deborah's classy twist on Las Vegas glamour is only possible due to the fictional comedian's fortune.

"I think she has good taste, although I think if she didn't have the kind of money she has, there might be a lot more leopard print and gold in here," Smart jokes.

Rob Tokarz, who has served as the show's production designer on Seasons 3, 4 and 5, also appears in the AD video. He explains that Deborah's mansion was originally inspired by a French chateau, and that Deborah "wanted to bring Europe to Las Vegas" with her home.

In Deborah's living room, there are pillows embroidered with her character's initials, "DV" — which Smart says she "might have to make off with" after the show wraps. "I mean, they can't use them on any other show, right?" she jokes.

Smart also points out some unique plaster work in the living room that the show's original set designer designed to look like a row of tongues — because Deborah is a self-described mouthy broad. "I thought, this is genius, because no one but he and I are gonna know that," Smart says.

The same set designer also hung a piece of artwork depicting a dead matador just outside Deborah's bedroom, which he said was "a subtle warning to any man who even gets that far." The production team eventually removed this painting from the set, and Smart took it — and it now lives at her house!

The Hacks Production Designer Works Hard to Keep the Set Grounded

"In designing Hacks ... we keep everything grounded rather than play things broad, which would happen on a lot of comedies," Tokarz explains. "That gives our world a reality that I think is really important to let the jokes exist in the space that they're in."

Tokarz also reveals a few production tricks featured in the mansion — for instance, the staircase seemingly going down to the basement is actually just a trompe l'oeil painting of a staircase on a flat floor.

1971 Iconic Crime Classic Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’

In April 1972, The French Connection took home five Academy Awards, including Best Director for William Friedkin, Actor for Gene Hackman, and Picture for Philip D’Antoni.

The film about a relentless New York cop tearing through the city pursuing a French heroin ring was a massive success. With Friedkin’s guerilla-style filmmaking, a cast of acting powerhouses, and one of the most white-knuckle car chase sequences ever put on film, the iconic crime classic is now officially one of Rotten Tomatoes’ Best Movies of All Time.

Adapted from the same-name true-story book by Robin Moore, the film recruited real-life detectives to tell its gritty story. Friedkin and his cast worked with the NYPD’s Sonny Grosso, Eddie Egan, and Randy Jurgensen, who all advised on set and had parts in the movie.

Hackman’s character, Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle, was based on Egan, while Grosso was the basis for Buddy “Cloudy” Russo. In the film, Egan plays Walt Simonson, captain of the NYPD Narcotics Bureau, while Grosso plays Clyde Klein, one of the feds on the case. Jurgensen has a speaking role as an NYPD sergeant and is actually in the front seat during the infamous high-speed chase

Shot in real traffic, among real pedestrians, Jurgensen said the stunt driver reached speeds of 65 miles per hour in a commandeered 1971 Pontiac Le Mans, as he pursued a hitman fleeing on the BMT West Line in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn

“I'm saying to myself, I'm going to die today,” Jurgensen told Katy Trail Weekly in 2023. “Even though the car’s doing 65 miles an hour, my mind was doing 90 miles an hour, and it was like, just let us get through this thing without hurting somebody.”

Side note: The real-life drug bust took several months to develop and never involved a high-speed chase or shootout. But, hey, Hollywood, amiright?

In 1995, Egan passed away, followed by Grosso in 2020, and Hackman in February 2025, per The New York Post. Jurgensen, 92, is now the last living French Connection detective.

Hackman's legacy continues to be remembered in retrospectives and screenings across the globe, one of which is happening this Sunday, April 19, at London’s Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square. Can't make the jump across the pond? There are easier ways to see the film.

McDonald’s Is Launching Something New This Month—and It’s Not What You Expect

McDonald's is expanding its menu, but in a direction that customers may not have anticipated. After numerous changes to its food offerings in recent months, McDonald's is now tackling its drink options.

According to the Wall Street Journal on April 13, McDonald's is aiming for the popularity of energy drinks and specialty sodas.

On April 10, the Instagram account SnackWire gave followers a sneak peek at what McDonald's drinks will soon be available. According to SnackWire, the new initial drink menu debuts on April 28.

Additional options are expected to be introduced later in the year, with some coming in August, noted the Wall Street Journal.

McDonald's has not yet confirmed the list of new drinks it is adding to its menus later this month. In the meantime, the new drinks reportedly include:

  • Strawberry Watermelon Refresher
  • Sprite Berry Blast
  • Mango Pineapple Refresher
  • Orange Dream
  • Dirty Dr. Pepper
  • Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher

Reuters noted that McDonald's plans to price its new drinks very competitively, keeping prices below what customers may see for similar concoctions at Starbucks, Sonic, Dutch Bros., and other similar restaurants.

In December 2025, SnackWire shared that a handful of these drinks, along with a few others, were being tested in over 500 McDonald's locations.

In addition to the drinks listed above, testing options included a Sprite Lunar Splash, which included dried dragon fruit and lemon-vanilla syrup, a Popping Tropic Refresher, a Toasted Vanilla Cold Brew Frappe, a Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew, a Red Bull Peach Boost Energizer, and a Red Bull Dragonberry Energizer. Those may not be hitting menus this month, but fans may see them come later in the year.

Restaurant Dive shared that according to an email statement received from McDonald's, the chain believes that "Our fans' love for McDonald's beverages runs deep, from rallying for the return of Hi-C Orange Lavaburst to coining the iconic 'Spicy Sprite.'"

Behind the scenes, various locations have brought in new equipment and worked to streamline processes for staff to make the new drinks. The drink options are the latest additions made as McDonald's aims to adjust to changes in the economy and what customers want.

The Under $3 Menu and the Big Arch Burger are recent additions, and the return of the Snack Wrap has been a popular move among McDonald's customers.

The Cooking Oil To Avoid if You Have Fatty Liver Disease, According to Gastroenterologists

When we think about our digestive system, our minds may gravitate toward our stomachs (and toilets—read: poop). But the liver plays a vital role that GI doctors are begging people not to overlook.

"The liver is responsible for processing and metabolizing most of the things that enter our body," explains Dr. Andrew H. Moore, MD, a gastroenterologist at Endeavor Health and the section head of gastroenterology and medical director of endoscopy at Swedish Hospital.

So, what we put in our bodies matters for our liver health, including the fats in cooking oils.

"There are different types of fat in the various cooking oils available, and these can have different effects on how fat is stored in the liver and the inflammation of the liver," Dr. Moore tells Parade.

This knowledge is especially important if you are at risk for fatty liver disease, are already living with it or simply and understandably want to avoid it. Though we often think of liver disease as a product of chronic alcohol misuse, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (aka metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease or MASLD) can affect people who don't consume much (or any) alcohol.

It's caused by excess fat buildup in the liver, and another gastroenterologist agrees that diet is a critical tool for treating your liver well.

"By understanding which oils are beneficial and which may be harmful, you can make informed dietary choices to protect your liver and manage or even reverse the early stages of fatty liver disease," says Dr. Rosario Ligresti, MD, the chief of Gastroenterology at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Avoid This Cooking Oil if You Have Fatty Liver Disease, Gastroenterologists Warn

Dr. Ligresti says that research (mostly from animal studies) has raised concerns about how certain processed seed oils, including soybean oil, can affect the liver.

Let's back it up for a second. What, pray tell, is soybean oil?

"Soybean oil is extracted from soybeans and is also high in unsaturated fats, particularly omega-6 fats," says Kathleen Benson, CSSD, CPT, RDN, a registered dietitian at VNutrition. "These fats are essential—meaning we do need them—but most people already get plenty of omega-6 in their diet and could benefit from getting more omega-3s."

According to Dr. Ligresti, some research conducted on mice suggests that soybean oil might contribute to obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance and fatty liver disease, including a 2017 Science Reports study.

"This may be because an excess of omega-6 fats can promote inflammation," he explains. "Some studies also suggest soybean oil can increase cholesterol accumulation in liver cells and amplify oxidative stress, potentially accelerating the progression to more serious liver inflammation."

Both doctors emphasize that you shouldn't panic. Dr. Moore says studies in humans contradict the animal studies, importantly noting that unsaturated fats may have a more positive effect on LDL cholesterol, metabolic and liver health.

"The issue with soybean oil is that it is often used in restaurants and usually reheated many times, which creates trans fats and other harmful substances to the body, so this may be a reason why it’s potentially more harmful, not the original contents of the oil itself," Dr. Moore notes.

So, speak with your healthcare team or a dietitian about the best cooking oils for your specific liver concerns (and consider how you use soybean oil and avoiding dishes with it when eating out).

The Best Alternative to Soybean Oil

Cooking with oil is certainly not off the table if you want to keep your liver in good shape. Benson loves olive oil or avocado oil.

"They’re rich in monounsaturated fats and, in the case of olive oil, also contain polyphenols that support overall metabolic health," Benson states. "Swapping in olive oil as part of a Mediterranean-style eating pattern has fairly consistent evidence for improving liver fat and liver markers. So again, it’s not just the oil itself, but the overall pattern it tends to be part of."

Is Canola Oil Safe for the Liver?

Canola oil is made from rapeseed and also contains more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3s. The research on its effects on liver health is mixed.

"Canola oil has a more favorable fatty acid profile than many other vegetable oils, with low saturated fat and a higher content of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids (ALA)," Dr. Ligresti states. "Several human studies have shown positive outcomes."

For example, one trial indicated that consuming canola oil every day for six months could significantly improve the grade of fatty liver disease (how severe it is) and lower insulin resistance in men with NALFD. Another study suggested that replacing clarified butter with canola oil could lower a marker for fatty liver disease, the "fatty liver index."

That said, Dr. Ligresti adds that some animal studies indicate that canola oil "may not prevent the accumulation of fat in the liver and could even promote inflammatory markers."

4 More Tips To Keep Your Liver Healthy

Being mindful of the type of cooking oil you choose is one way to support liver health. Yet, the research on the effects of some cooking oils on health is a bit mixed (frustrating, we know). So, experts have four more tried-and-true ways to improve your liver health.

  1. Loose weight (if needed) or maintain a healthy weight. "When fat accumulates in the liver, it can cause inflammation, and this chronic inflammation leads to scarring or cirrhosis of the liver," Dr. Moore states, explaining that research supports that losing 7 to 10% of your body weight can lower liver inflammation and improve liver scarring and fibrosis before it snowballs into cirrhosis.
  2. Log regular, moderate-intensity exercise. Dr. Moore says that brisk walking, jogging, walking up stairs or swimming for 30 minutes daily, five times per week, can improve your metabolic health and reduce fat accumulation in the liver.
  3. Prioritize protein and fiber. "This helps with blood sugar stability and appetite, which supports insulin sensitivity and makes it easier to maintain a consistent intake overall," Benson says.
  4. Limit ultra-processed foods and added sugars, especially sugary drinks. Benson points out that these foods can lead to excess calorie intake and increased liver fat production.

If you're looking for a go-to eating plan to give your liver a boost, Dr. Ligresti is a fan of the Mediterranean diet.

"I recommend this approach because it emphasizes whole, unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, while using healthy fats like olive oil," he says. "This eating pattern has been consistently shown to reduce fat in the liver and improve overall metabolic health, which is crucial for managing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease."

If you frequently find yourself wondering what’s for dinner, lunch usually isn’t much easier to figure out. That’s where Costco’sdeli tends to come through, especially this time of year when quick, ready-made options start to feel even more essential.

Costco’s latest grab-and-go find is a new deli wrap that leans into bold flavors while still keeping things practical. If you’ve tried their sandwiches before, you already know they don’t hold back on portion size or ingredients, and this one follows suit.

These sound seriously good. The Costco deli Thai Chicken Wrap with Sweet Chili Sauce is made with Kirkland Signature rotisserie chicken, wrapped in a tomato tortilla with an Asian-style barbecue sauce, diced red onion, and a sunflower-based cream cheese spread. Each container also comes with a side of sweet chili sauce for dipping, which adds a slightly sweet, tangy finish to each bite.

Costco’s New Thai Chicken Wrap Makes Lunch and Dinner Easy

This deli option works just as well for a quick lunch as it does for an easy dinner when you don’t feel like cooking. With spring schedules picking up, they’re easy to pack in a cooler for the ball field, the beach, or even a picnic. You could also slice them into smaller portions for something more grab-and-go at brunch or a casual get-together.

At $6.99 per pound, the container shown comes in just over two pounds, bringing the total to around $16 for four large wraps. That makes it easy to split into a couple of meals or share, depending on how you serve them.

Because this is a newer deli item, it may still be rolling out and not be available at every location just yet.

One detail that stands out is the use of sunflower cream cheese. While sunflower-based spreads are often made with sunflower seeds and oils as a dairy-free alternative, this version appears to be a blend, as the packaging lists milk and cream and includes a dairy allergen warning.

1953 Hit Song That the Artist Famously Hated Reached No. 1 on the Charts 73 Years Ago

Lita Roza, an English singer who was born in 1926, is most well-known for a song that she never actually liked. Her recording of “(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?” reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in April 1953, 73 years ago.

Roza made history as the first British woman to reach the spot. The song also caused the American Kennel Club's annual registrations to raise by eight percent. However, she never performed the song again after the original recording.

When speaking about the hit in a 2004 interview, Roza admitted, "I sang it once, just one take, and vowed I would never sing it again. When it reached number one, there was enormous pressure to perform it, but I always refused. It just wasn't my style.”

The song was a cover, originally written by Bob Merrill and recorded by Patti Page in 1952. Although Page's version wasn’t as famous as Roza's cover, it was still popular, selling over two million copies. It hit No. 1 on both the Billboard and Cash Box charts.

Fans have raved about this nostalgic song, with one saying, “This is great tribute to all dogs. I loved this song.” Another said, “I had a Jack Russell and I sang that song to him. He always barked at me and wagged his tail. I know he is in heaven having fun with the angels.”

“(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?” was one of the most successful novelty songs ever created. Some others include "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" by Merv Griffin and the Freddy Martin Orchestra and "Purple People Eater" by Sheb Wooley.

Roza was born in Liverpool and got her first job as a singer when she was only 16. She went on to become the lead female singer with the Ted Heath Band in the 1950s, but in 1954, she left the band to pursue a solo career. She appeared as a lounge singer in the 1955 film, Cast a Dark Shadow, only two years after “(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?” became a hit.

Roza died in 2008, at the age of 82. She left £190,000 to three dog-related charities, the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, and The Cinnamon Trust.

This 'Days of Our Lives' Legend Debuted 43 Years Ago Today in 1983—And Daytime’s Most Iconic Romance Was Born

On this day in 1984, Kristian Alfonso made her debut on the NBC soap opera Days Of Our Lives as Hope Williams, daughter of Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) and Addie Horton (Patricia Barry).

Alfonso was the fifth actress to portray the role of Hope, since the characters birth in 1974.

The character quickly became a fan favorite, largely due to her romance with Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), which evolved into one of the show’s most iconic supercouples.

Alfonso remained on the soap opera until 1987, when Bo and Hope were written out with a “happily ever after,” leaving Salem with their newborn son, Shawn Douglas Brady, named after both Bo and Hope’s fathers.

In 1990, Reckell returned to the show full-time, and Alfonso briefly reprised her role for the fan-favorite ‘Cruise of Deception’ storyline. The arc ended dramatically, with Hope presumed dead after being dropped into a vat of acid by villain Ernesto Toscano.

Alfonso returned again in 1994 in a twist-heavy storyline involving super villain Stefano DiMera (Jospeh Mascolo). Her character was discovered at Stefano’s compound, Maison Blanche, in New Orleans, but appeared to be a woman named ‘Gina.’ After multiple twist, it was ultimately revealed that ‘Gina’ was, in fact, Hope Brady.

Alfonso remained a central figure on Days of Our Lives until her full-time exit in 2020. She later returned for the Peacock spinoff Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, where she reunited with Reckell.

Alfonso’s most recent appearance came in 2025, during a storyline in which Bo Brady battled sepsis and received a miracle cure, while Bo’s brother and longtime character John Black (Drake Hogestyn) was permanently written out of the series, as the character was killed off, as a result of saving Bo.

For her work on the soap, Alfonso earned multiple Soap Opera Digest awards as well as a Daytime Emmy Award for America’s Favorite Couple which she shared with Peter Reckell.
