Canadian rock band Default is heading back on the road to celebrate a major milestone. The group has officially announced The Fallout 25th Anniversary Tour, marking 25 years since the release of its breakthrough debut album, The Fallout. 

The tour will travel across Western Canada and Ontario this fall and feature special guests Wide Mouth Mason and Limblifter on select dates.

The announcement was shared through the band's official Instagram account, where Default revealed plans to perform songs from the album that launched their career while reconnecting with longtime fans across the country.

"We told you we had big news…” the band wrote. “The Fallout 25th Anniversary Tour is coming to Canada this fall with Wide Mouth Mason and Limb Lifter! The Fallout is the album that started it all for us and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 25 years than hitting the road and playing it live for you all.”

The anniversary tour arrives a quarter-century after The Fallout helped establish Default as one of Canada's most successful rock bands. Originally released in 2001, the album produced several major rock radio hits, including "Wasting My Time," "Deny" and "Slow Me Down."

Beyond the live shows, Default is also releasing special 25th Anniversary Edition vinyl and CD versions of The Fallout. The commemorative package features updated artwork, a photo collage highlighting the album's legacy, full printed lyrics, and a new anniversary message from the band.

The release gives longtime fans an opportunity to revisit one of the defining Canadian rock albums of the early 2000s while introducing a new generation of listeners to the record that launched Default's career.

Frontman Dallas Smith reflected on the milestone in an official statement.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since we released The Fallout,” says Default frontman Dallas Smith, according to 604 Records. “Those songs changed our lives and opened doors we never could have imagined. We’re incredibly grateful to the fans who have supported this band from the beginning, and we’re excited to celebrate this milestone by getting back on stage and playing these songs together again. The Fallout will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we can’t wait to share these shows with everyone.”

The album remains one of the band's most successful releases. Its lead single, "Wasting My Time," became a Billboard Mainstream Rock hit and helped introduce Default to audiences in the United States. The record later achieved platinum certification in both Canada and the U.S.

Default formed in Vancouver in 1999 and quickly rose through the Canadian rock scene. The band released four studio albums and sold more than one million records throughout its career. In 2002, the group earned the JUNO Award for Best New Group.

After taking a hiatus in 2013 while Dallas Smith focused on a successful country music career, the band reunited in 2018 and has continued performing select live shows. The upcoming anniversary tour represents one of Default's most significant touring runs in recent years.

Hugh Laurie has officially issued an apology for his blunt (yet hilarious) comeback to one journalist's criticisms of House.

Returning to social media, the 66-year-old actor and comedian humbly apologized to British journalist Janet Murray for his fiery response to her negative analysis of the show. Even more humorously, Laurie attributed the tone of his response to being "very slightly drunk," as well as dealing with a separate issue that had "nothing to do" with Murray.

"I’m sorry if people have been having a go at you because of my tweet," Laurie shared on X. "Not at all the plan. I was very slightly drunk and already upset about something that had nothing to do with you. If it’s any comfort, I got it in the neck too. I’m a thin-skinned tw*t, apparently, even though it wasn’t my skin. I was sticking up for the writers who I adored."

"Obviously I shouldn’t have cited Bach/Kahlo/Moore - asking for trouble - and would have done better to go for the 10,000 blues songs written around the same 12 bar chord structure," the comedian continued. "I’ve listened to most of them and will keep doing so. Because we love what we love."

Sharing her own response, Murray accepted Laurie's apology and complimented House and Laurie's performance in the show.

"‘Having a go’ is probably an understatement but I appreciate the apology and recognise you may have been sticking up for colleagues," Murray wrote. "For what it’s worth, I like the show - despite the repetition - and I like you in it. The response to my initial post was so warm-hearted and affectionate towards House, which perhaps made what followed all the more surprising. Anyway, no hard feelings. I’m hoping you’ll be back for another series of Tehran."

The back-and-forth came roughly a day after Laurie's reaction to Murray's criticisms took off on social media.

Laurie first wrote on X, “Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren't happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn't happy.”

"One could apply your trenchant analysis to other art forms: JS Bach wrote 30 Goldberg variations on the same chord structure; Frida Kahlo painted 50 portraits of herself;  Henry Moore, what??” Laurie went on to say.

Claire Kittle Chronicled the Cabin's Renovation on Instagram

Claire's Instagram followers have been keeping up with the renovation journey since last spring.

"Guys here's my off-season project because one thing about me I crave a home project," Claire wrote alongside a video of the empty cabin in early 2025. "We just bought this cutie cabin and she just needs some TLC I'm so excited for her."

She kept her fans updated over the past year, showing off "before" and "during" shots of various spots in the house, including the primary bedroom and closet, the basement, bathrooms, windows and the kitchen.

The national salad chain is launching its new seasonal menu built around summer ingredients, including a first-of-its-kind salad for Sweetgreen which will be available through July 6. The tomato panzanella salad features chopped romaine, arugula, avocado, basil, cucumbers, pickled onions, garlic breadcrumbs, feta, and fresh tomato vinaigrette. Though this salad isn’t as loaded with bread as a traditional panzanella, which typically forgoes greens in favor of cubed bread, the tomato-forward take from Sweetgreen feels like summer in a bowl. 

Two other seasonal salads are also part of the summer menu, and they’ll be sticking around a little longer through August 10. First up there’s the picnic bowl, which is made with chopped romaine, golden quinoa, blackened chicken, a summer vegetable medley, crispy onions, corn salsa, and charred jalapeño ranch.

When Brooke Elliott reflects on Season 5 of Netflix’s hit drama Sweet Magnolias, one word comes to mind: Growth.

For Dana Sue Sullivan and her lifelong best friends, Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and Helen Decatur (Heather Headley), the new season is about discovering what comes next.

“I think all three of them are very similar in that they want to know what more they can do, what more they have in them, and what more they can offer Serenity, and their friends and family,” Elliott exclusively told Parade. “They want to keep growing and expanding, and I love that about these women.”

That desire for growth fuels much of Season 5. Dana Sue, Maddie, and Helen are all stepping into new opportunities, pursuing fresh dreams, and challenging themselves in unexpected ways. One major development is Maddie’s new publishing career in New York, which creates exciting possibilities for the trio.

“Dana Sue is trying really hard to make that happen while also supporting everyone else’s dreams,” Elliott said. “That’s very much like the women in our lives.”

As always, Dana Sue finds herself balancing her own ambitions with her deep commitment to family, friends, and community. But this season also shines a spotlight on more challenges closer to home -- particularly in her tumultuous marriage to the impulsive Ronnie Sullivan (Brandon Quinn).

According to Elliott, Ronnie’s tendency to charge ahead without seeking advice continues to create tension.

“I find Ronnie’s journey so interesting because he still has some old habits and defense mechanisms, and it’s really time for those to drop away,” she explained. “But he uses those things as a source of pride, and that’s where there’s such a disconnect between the two of them,” putting a big strain on their marriage.

Dana Sue sees warning signs that Ronnie either misses or chooses to ignore. While his intentions may be good, Elliott believes he often fails to recognize the impact of his actions.

“Ronnie is trying to prove himself to other men, to his wife, and to his daughter Annie (Anneliese Judge),” she said. “He’s so headstrong that he believes everything will ultimately work out. But everyone else sees him as misguided and creating more problems.”

However, Ronnie remains convinced that Dana Sue will eventually come around. “He believes Dana Sue will be on board if she just hangs tight,” Elliott said. “He’s missing the fact that he’s making critical errors that are eroding their relationship.”

Those unresolved issues trace back to the couple’s reconciliation. “They didn’t fully work through everything they needed to when they got back together,” Elliott noted. “Old habits are still at play for both of them, and it’s exposing cracks in their foundation.”

While Dana Sue faces difficult truths this season, Elliott views those struggles as an essential part of her evolution.

“Dana Sue has missteps and triumphs, but I see all of it as a learning curve,” she said. “Her trips and falls help her learn more about respecting herself, respecting others, and understanding what she truly needs.”

That journey resonates deeply with the actress. “One of the things I appreciate the most about Dana Sue is that she’s a person of integrity,” Elliott said. “She’s coming to some important truths, and those truths aren’t always easy to face. I relate to that because I’m always looking for more truth in my own life.”

In fact, Elliott believes truth and respect emerge as two of the season’s strongest themes. “I saw that throughout the season -- respect for yourself and respect for others,” she said. “Sometimes that leads you to a truth you didn’t want to see or maybe didn’t even realize was there.”

Another major storyline involves Dana Sue’s daughter Annie, who is preparing to graduate from high school and head off to college.

For Dana Sue, it marks a profound transition. “It’s about your daughter or son growing up and not being your child anymore in the way you knew them before,” Elliott said. “That’s a huge adjustment as a woman, a mother, and a person. It also affects her relationship with Ronnie.”

The empty-nest experience forces Dana Sue to reevaluate not only her role as a mother but also the future she wants for herself. While Season 5 explores change and uncertainty, Elliott believes the series’ enduring appeal lies in something much simpler: friendship. The bond between Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen remains the emotional center of the show, and Elliott feels it’s especially meaningful in today’s world.

“Having a friend who sees your heart, understands your intentions, and has your back -- even when they may disagree with you -- is priceless,” she said. “To have people you can always rely on is life-changing.”

That unwavering support system is what makes the Sweet Magnolias trio so special. “I think that’s what Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen are for each other,” Elliott said. "Hopefully, people have that in their own lives. And if they don’t, maybe they can experience it through watching our show.”

Fortunately, the chemistry viewers see on screen extends well beyond the cameras. Elliott says she quickly developed a close friendship with Swisher and Headley, and their real-life connection strengthens their performances.

“They are both so wonderful,” she said. “What exists between Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen is a deep respect for each other’s dreams, hearts, and intentions.”

That mutual respect, she believes, is the foundation of their friendship.

“They understand each other’s hearts,” Elliott said. “That’s one of the reasons their friendship is so strong.”

Some of Elliott’s favorite memories from filming involve the show’s signature Margarita Nights, where the three friends gather to share laughs, advice, and support.

“We have such a great time shooting those scenes,” she said. “They can take five or six hours to film, so we spend a lot of time together.”

The cast often gets opportunities to improvise and play with the material.

“I love those moments because they’re so fun,” Elliott said. “The girls are hilarious, and we have such a blast.”

Like Dana Sue, Elliott enjoys spending time in the kitchen, although she’s quick to point out that she’s not a professionally trained chef.

“I love cooking,” she said with a laugh. “A friend of mine always leaves messages saying, ‘Cooking with Brooke would be the funniest show.’ ” Her approach is less about precision and more about creativity. “I like to play and experiment,” she said. “I enjoy the creativity of it.”

As Season 5 approaches, Elliott hopes viewers return not only for the romance, drama, and surprises, but also for the sense of belonging that Serenity provides.

“I hope they come back for the sense of community,” she said. “At times, people can feel really lonely, and I hope they feel like they’re part of Serenity.”

She believes audiences connect with the show because it offers both comfort and authenticity.

“I hope they love the drama, the fun, the sweetness, and even the hard times,” Elliott said. “All of those things are part of these characters’ stories.”

Fans often tell her that Sweet Magnolias feels like home. “I’ve had so many people tell me, ‘I wish I could crawl into the TV and go to Serenity and be friends with Dana Sue, Maddie, and Helen,’” she said.

Those reactions don’t surprise her. “I think people are looking for solid friendships they can rely on,” Elliott said. “They want a world that supports them, respects them, and makes them feel welcome. They want friends who truly see and hear them.”

That sense of connection is also why Elliott hopes Netflix will renew the series for season 6. “I would love to see what happens next with these characters,” she said. “I’d love to dig deeper into all the things we leave unresolved at the end of season 5.”

More importantly, she believes the show serves an important purpose. “We need shows where people can feel seen, heard, and included,” Elliott said. “I personally think this show does that. I’d love for viewers to have another season and another opportunity to feel like they’re part of this world.”

Season 5 of Sweet Magnolias premieres June 11 on Netflix. Seasons 1 through 4 are currently streaming on Netflix.

Katy Perry is proudly sharing her love for boyfriend Justin Trudeau.

The "Firework" singer, 41, and former Canadian prime minister, 54, made their red carpet couple debut at the Tribeca Festival on Monday, June 8, taking a major step in their relationship almost a year after they first sparked romance rumors.

Perry, who was sporting a stunning white halter gown, cozied up to a suit-clad Trudeau as they posed for pictures ahead of a special screening of her new concert film, The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris.

Later in the evening, Perry declared Trudeau to be the "love of [her] life" during a post-screening Q&A session, as she reflected on her 2025 Lifetimes Tour.

“I would say now at the end of 91 shows, I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life. I am very in love,” she gushed, adding of her November 2025 Paris tour dates, "Actually, that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that."

She continued, "I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite—I fly super high. Sometimes I need to be anchored, so to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”

The "Teenage Dream" artist and former politician were first rumored to be romantically involved in July 2025 after they were spotted walking and grabbing dinner together in Montreal.

The relationship speculation came shortly after Perry's split from longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. Trudeau, meanwhile, split from wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in August 2023.

Lisa Lopes, who was also known as Left Eye, was a singer and songwriter from the popular girl group TLC. She was in the band along with Tionne Watkins and Rozonda Thomas. The band won four Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Lopes also had a  brief solo career, where she ended up with two top 10 Singles, “Not Tonight” and “U Know What’s Up.”

In 1993, Lopes started dating Andre Rison, a football player from the Atlanta Falcons. According to Paper Mag, their relationship was fraught from the start. “Six months in, they had a grocery store parking lot argument,” the outlet reported. “Rison allegedly assaulted Lopes and then fired off a gun to warn strangers not to get involved. He was arrested, but charges were dropped.”

However, that wasn’t their only argument. In 1994, she got into a fight with him where he "tried to calm her down, which to him meant slapping her, pinning her on the bed, and sitting on her." In retaliation, after he left to stay the night at a teammate's house, she threw something into the bathtub. (Some say it was a piece of cardboard, while others say it was a pair of his new shoes). Then she lit the item on fire. That fire quickly spread, and his million-dollar mansion went up in flames, turning it to ash.

Lopes was arrested for first-degree arson and sentenced to years of probation and court-mandated therapy. However, she continued dating Rison on-and-off for years after the incident, until her death at age 30.

When asked about her dating life in a 1998 interview with Mad Rhythms Magazine, she said, “I do the pursuing. I give them that look and then we hook up. I get distracted very easily. It's not just a lover thing, but what kind of person is inside that body. I'll talk to people just because I was interested in them as the person. I'm so open and down to earth, like I'm their next door neighbor. They'll be like, ‘Left Eye did not just walk up to me and show some interest.’ After we talk for a while, he forgets that I'm Left Eye,I'm just Lisa. I maintain good relationships with my old boyfriends. If there's a friendship there, I like to keep it.”

Lopes died in a car crash in Honduras in 2002. She had been shooting a documentary and lost control of her rental car while driving. There were several other passengers in the car who made it out alive, but she was the only one not wearing a seatbelt and died from her injuries.

Disney fans have a special anniversary to celebrate today.

On June 9, 1934, one of the company's most beloved characters made a memorable debut in the animated short The Wise Little Hen. More than nine decades later, the character remains a cornerstone of the Disney universe and a favorite among generations of fans.

"Donald’s debut in 'The Wise Little Hen' was built around his voice, supplied by the uniquely talented Clarence Nash. His appearance was simply that of a generic cartoon duck, with the long bill, extended neck, and waddling gait common to his species. As he returned to play additional supporting roles in 1934 and 1935, his appearance remained essentially the same," according to the Walt Disney Family Museum.

Though he looks a bit different from his 1934 debut, Donald Duck is instantly recognizable for his signature blue sailor shirt and matching cap, along with his famously expressive personality. Over time, both his appearance and character evolved, helping turn him into one of Disney’s most enduring and iconic figures.

Donald is also a central figure in the DuckTales franchise and has appeared in hundreds of animated shorts, films and television series. Alongside characters like Mickey Mouse and Goofy, he helped define the golden age of Disney animation and remains a staple of the brand nearly a century after his debut. His long-running popularity has made him one of Disney’s most recognizable and profitable characters, continuing to introduce new generations of fans to his legacy around the world.

Pop-synth legends Soft Cell have announced their final album, Danceteria, which will honor the late Dave Ball.

Ball was a founding member of Soft Cell and died on October 22, 2025, just two days after the upcoming record was completed.

The album is set for release on Sept. 25, 2026, and will be the sixth and final studio record by the musicians. The 12-track record — along with the two bonus tracks on the CD version — will act as a love letter to New York, a city that has long inspired Soft Cell's music. The album title is an ode to the former Manhattan nightclub of the same name.

"Danceteria is a love letter to New York in the early '80s. The time we spent in New York — where we recorded our first three albums — shaped us both as artists and people," vocalist Marc Almond explained in a statement. "To celebrate this period is a fitting farewell to Dave Ball and the final Soft Cell studio album."

Frontman Almond said he felt it was time to close the book on Soft Cell's almost 50-year career, highlighting the significance of this bittersweet finale.

"There can be no more recordings of Soft Cell without Dave, it would not be possible," he stated. "The sad reality is that Dave Ball was half of Soft Cell, and live work aside, I can’t write Soft Cell songs without him."

Along with the album announcement, Soft Cell dropped the eponymous single, a catchy, electronic dance number built on layered synthesizers and complemented by a nostalgic music video.

A farewell to Soft Cell, Almond is currently touring North America on the Generations Tour alongside The Human League and Alison Moyet.

Soft Cell rose to fame with their cutting-edge cover version of “Tainted Love,” which was released in 1981 and flew to the top of the charts in 17 countries.

Mick Box, the founder and only original member of the iconic band Uriah Heep is marking another chapter as he turns 79.

With a decades-long and illustrious career in the industry, the beloved musician is celebrated as one of rock’s true gentlemen.

Amid his many achievements and accolades, he also earned a special nickname, “The Nicest Guy in Rock.”

As Box turns a year older, here’s a look back at his remarkable career and unforgettable moments that have defined his journey in rock music.

Born on June 9, 1947, the guitarist, whose real name is Michael Frederick Box, knew that he wanted to become a musician at a young age.

At 14, he got his very first guitar, which his mom purchased from a pawn shop, a cherished instrument he reportedly still owns today.

“It was a Telston semi-electric single-cutaway sunburst with a single DeArmand pickup. It cost twelve pounds ten shillings,” he mentioned in an interview as cited by Louder Sound. “I never had to sit and do scales. Luckily I had good ears, so I just picked up what I wanted to play and played it.”

Although Box was heavily influenced by jazz music during his early years, it was rock and roll that truly captured his interest, prompting him to start the band The Stalkers, where they played plenty of classic Chuck Berry songs.

From the mid-1960s to the early 1970s, the band transitioned from Spice to Uriah Heep, the group it is known as today.

During the release of their debut album Very 'Eavy… Very 'Umble, the band’s official lineup consisted of frontman David Byron with Mick Box as the lead guitarist, Ken Hensley on keyboards, Paul Newton on bass and Alex Napier on drums.

It was with their 1972 album Demons and Wizards that the band achieved commercial success after “Easy Livin’” became their breakthrough song, and the rest is history for Uriah Heep.

With over 40 million records sold worldwide and Uriah Heep becoming one of the biggest names in rock, Box remained humble and did not let fame, fortune and rock stardom change who he was.

As a result, he also earned the moniker “The Nicest Guy In Rock” and has continued to live up to it.

When asked about his thoughts on this label, he told Classic Bands, “Lordy, Lordy, that’s a bit of a tag, isn’t it?” and laughs.

Box is also a longtime supporter of charitable causes such as the Nightingale Cancer Support Centre.

Among his activities was the donation of personal items such as exclusive memorabilia and a guitar for a charity auction, helping raise funds for causes close to his heart.

Prince William is earning fresh praise from royal watchers after a subtle gesture in his latest public appearance went viral.

A retired FBI agent says a key development in the Nancy Guthrie investigation left investigators with little doubt about the seriousness of what occurred.

During a recent interview with NewsNation's Brian Entin, O'Connell said images released by the FBI fundamentally changed how investigators viewed the case.

"Just what the FBI did, in that moment is invaluable to this investigation. It's unbelievably invaluable because it let us know—and I remember the moment I saw those images, I was just shocked and appalled for what Nancy had to go through in the moments that followed that," O'Connell said on the June 8 episode of Brian Entin Investigates.

"We saw the gun. We saw how he was covered. We saw that he came prepared. We saw that he probably had a kill kit in that backpack with a tarp. We knew right then that there was absolutely no denying ever that something horrible had happened to Nancy," she continued.

Despite the fact that elderly people on certain medications, like blood thinners, can bleed quite a bit from just a scratch, O'Connell says that's not what happened in this case.

"Once we saw these images, once the FBI was able to pull that rabbit out of the hat with that thing, and we saw that porch guy, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that something absolutely, monumentally horrific happened to Nancy Guthrie," O'Connell added.

Investigators believe Guthrie was abducted from her Arizona home in the early morning hours of Feb. 1. Despite thousands of tips and the release of surveillance images showing a person of interest on her front stoop, authorities have not identified a suspect.

Indiana has always wanted to be a tennis star, and ever since snagging a slot at the elite Outer Banks Tennis Club, she’s found that her star is rising. In fact, we get to see how much work she’s putting into her dream in the exclusive excerpt we have from Wildcard, just in case you forgot about that dream, considering all the steam!

Where’s the steam coming from? It’s where her heart is starting to lure her: to sports agent Jack Harrison. Maybe it wouldn’t be as bad if he weren’t the brother of her best friend, Penny, and that’s something else that comes up in the excerpt.

Indy and Jack want to keep things on the down low for now, but at the same time, they know that if Penny finds out in any way other than them sharing it with her, then she will be hurt. INDY’S PALM SLAPPED AGAINST JASMINE’S WITH A SATISFYING thwack. There were grass stains on her elbows and a gigantic bruise blooming on her knee, but neither could stop her wild smile as she caught her breath.

She and her doubles partner were at the top of their game and had absolutely dominated their training session, two separate entities moving around the court as one seamless unit. They were so ready for Wimbledon.

Now she just needed that wildcard.

Two really, one for singles, one for doubles.

Two potential paths to victory.

“Nice,” Dom called from the sidelines, actually standing up and applauding with his own broad smile slipping over his perpetually tanned features. But he then turned his attention to their training partners, two young men who were regulars on the Challenger circuit, standing flat-footed and winded, grumbling to each other in low tones.

“And what the holy hell do you two think you’re doing?” Dom barked at them.

Indy couldn’t help but smirk at Jas as they listened to Dom’s lecture.

“Last I checked, this was the Outer Banks Tennis Club. Did you think because they’re women they’d be easy pickings?” he asked, gesturing toward Indy and Jasmine with a sweep of his arm. “They took the best doubles team in the world to three sets. Indy just kicked the shit out of the entire field in Bari. You’re lucky to share a court with them. Get out of here. I’m sick of the sight of you.”

The young men trudged off the court still muttering, and Dom’s eyes narrowed. “Changed my mind. Three tours. Want to make it four?”

The taller one nudged the smaller with his elbow as they both shook their heads and said, “No, Coach.”

“Good. Get lost.”

They took off down the path at a measured jog, conserving their energy for the three laps of the entire facility, a circuitous route that would take them through the maze of forty-five practice courts, finishing up with a sprint across the sandy beach that lined the OBX property.

Jasmine raised her eyebrows toward Indy, who smiled back. In her short time at OBX, she’d endured Dom’s wrath enough to simply enjoy when someone else was his target.

“Ladies, that’s enough for this morning,” Dom called over to them. “Cool down. Indy, get some ice on that knee before it blows up like a balloon.”

She’d taken a little tumble during that last rally, but it didn’t even sting.

“It’s fine,” she said, glancing down at it. “I bruise easy.”

“Okay, then, video analysis after lunch,” he said before leaving them for his next training session.

Indy grabbed her water bottle and swished a mouthful before spitting it out. Too much water would weigh her down for the rest of the day, but she had to stay hydrated under the hot North Carolina sun as the weather shifted from a warm spring toward what promised to be a humid summer. Though, if she had her way, most of that summer would be spent far from OBX, on courts around the world, starting with the grass lawns of Wimbledon. She envisioned herself there as she swung her arms around in slow circles, letting those muscles gradually recover from the intense workout she’d just put in, before moving farther down her body, twisting and bending at her core, then lunging and reaching for her legs.

“Better every day,” Jasmine said as they left the court and headed in the direction of the locker room for a shower and a fresh set of clothes.

Indy pulled her long blond hair free from its ponytail and ran her hands through the sweaty locks. “I just wish they would make a decision.”

They were the All England Club, the British equivalent of the USTA and the people in charge of her fate for the next month or so. It was within their power to grant entries to the Championships at Wimbledon.

After she and Jasmine pushed the number one doubles team in the world to a third-set tiebreaker, it made sense that they’d be granted a wildcard into the main doubles draw. If the wildcards didn’t come through, they’d both be relegated to the qualifying tournament, but that was out of Indy’s control, and even though it had only been a week since Bari and her first tournament win, patience had never been one of her virtues.

“It should happen soon, maybe tomorrow,” Jasmine said as they entered the locker room. The buzz of dozens of young women echoing off the tile floors and metal lockers soon faded. Since their return, the atmosphere at OBX had been strange, to say the least. Indy was used to it. She’d been an outsider from the moment she arrived, but her stomach twisted for Jasmine, who’d spent her entire career training inside the high fences of the best tennis club in the world. She didn’t know how to handle the silent glares and fervent whispers that followed them everywhere.

“Ignore them,” Indy said, “they’re just jealous.”

Jasmine sighed heavily. “Just like I was when you first got here.”

Indy shook her head, not letting Jasmine go back down that road. She’d moved on. “To be fair, I can be a massive pain in the ass.”

And that did the trick. Jasmine laughed. “Yeah, you can be, and speaking of asses, how are things with you-know-who?”

“‘Speaking of asses’?” Indy asked, the rest of the question not registering fully.

Jasmine grinned wickedly. “He has a really, really nice one, or haven’t you noticed?”

For half a second, Indy indulged in the memory of exactly how nice Jack Harrison’s ass was and the deep rasping noise he made when she had her hands on it, but then reality set in. Looking around quickly to make sure they were alone, Indy said, “Not here.”

Jasmine stared at her, unimpressed, and then whispered, “You’re not going to be able to keep the secret forever.”

“I know,” Indy said quietly.

“Have you talked to her?” Jasmine asked, thankfully changing the subject. She nodded toward Penny’s empty locker while grabbing her shower kit from her own.

“Yeah,” Indy said, wrinkling her nose. “She’s pissed off that she can’t train.”

“Sucks,” Jasmine said before walking off to the shower room.

“Totally,” Indy agreed. She’d never missed tennis because of an injury before, but just talking to Penny on the phone told her all she needed to know. She could hear the longing in her friend’s voice to get back on the court, to do something. But, in true Penny fashion, she hadn’t wallowed for too long. She’d gushed about being able to spend time with Alex in England and reported that PT was a bitch but going well. And she’d even hyped Indy up for Wimbledon qualifying because she knew how hard Indy was working, knew how hard it had been to build herself back up after her mom died and how shitty it was that her dad really only cared about Caroline Morneau. And all the while Indy had sat there biting her tongue and trying desperately not to let it slip about Jack.

God, she was a shitty friend.

A little more than a month ago, Penny and Jasmine hadn’t even known she existed, and somehow they’d become her closest friends. Now she was lying to one and asking the other to lie for her.

Jasmine was right— she needed to come clean; and she would, if she could only work up the courage to do it.

The hot water was heaven after the morning workout. Indy took her time, letting her muscles recover as much as they could because she’d need them again during that afternoon’s singles training. Building her endurance up to pursue both was even more grueling than she’d imagined. She never thought it would be easy, but knowing that in theory was one thing; the everyday reality of it was another.

The locker room was blissfully empty as she emerged from the showers. Jasmine had gone to lunch with her parents. So, Indy could get ready in peace. She left her hair alone, knowing the warm air outside would make it curl, and pulled on a pair of white terry cloth shorts, then a bronze T‑shirt with the Nike swoosh blazoned across the chest in black. It was a gift from Penny, who had more Nike merchandise than she knew what to do with after signing a lucrative sponsorship deal to become the face of their tennis line. Indy smiled to herself, knowing that one day soon, she’d have her own sponsorship deal. Caroline, her agent, had said as much over and over again since they’d returned from Italy. She had made contact with all the big outfitters, and it was just a matter of waiting for the best deal and negotiating terms that brought in the most money for the most exposure.

Stepping into the sunshine, Indy shouldered her bag and turned toward the OBX video room to keep cool while analyzing some of her own play from the past week, when a shadow crossed over her path, a large body falling into step with her, close but not touching, their strides matching.

“Jack,” she said, glancing up at him sideways, a small smile threatening at the corners of her mouth.

“Indiana,” he said, echoing back her name, sending a shiver down her spine. He was the only one she didn’t mind calling her that, the only person who made the name she’d hated since forever sound so, so good.

They walked together in silence, turning the corner that separated the courts from the residential area of the complex, but her steps were suddenly cut off when Jack slid his arm around her waist and pulled her into a shady walkway between buildings. Her heart leapt as he gently guided her back against the wall, his eyes boring into hers.

Walls were their thing. Their first real kiss had been against a wall in a random hallway at Roland-Garros, their second pressed against the wall of their hotel in Paris, and now that they were back in North Carolina, they’d found any excuse to push each other against a wall and kiss until

they were gasping for air and their bodies begged for relief.

Now Jack’s lips trailed from her temple, using the wall behind her as an anchor before bending his head to hers. Pushing up onto her toes, Indy met him halfway. She’d never been so grateful for every millimeter of her five feet ten inches as she was when she was kissing Jack. She fit perfectly against him.

She pulled away to draw a breath. “My favorite part of the day,” she murmured, and he answered with a soft chuckle.

“Mine too.” His hands slid through her hair, twisting it around his fingers, then cradling the back of her head, drawing her mouth firmly against his.

Indy brought her hands to his torso, gripping his T‑shirt, letting her palms press against the cut of muscle that disappeared into his cargo shorts. His mouth fell open just

enough to allow her tongue to slide in, deepening the kiss, before letting her teeth nip at his bottom lip. A groan rumbled in his throat as he pressed even closer, his body full length against hers.

He wrenched his lips from hers, trailing his mouth over the line of her jaw to the spot just behind her ear. “You feel incredible,” he said before diving in for more. It was her turn to gasp, and her head fell back, scraping against the wall, as she arched into him. Jack smiled against her skin as her fingertips dug into his sides, and she let a moan slip free as he focused his attention on that spot, his teeth sharp against it, then soothing that small pain with a flick of his tongue. Her hands scrambled to get purchase against his shoulders, desperate for some leverage, anything to help her press her body against his. Then he was gone, his hand out of her hair, his mouth away from her neck, and his body inches then feet from hers. Indy blinked at him, trying to figure out what had happened, when the voices echoing down the pathway toward them finally reached her ears.

He was already lifting her bag from where it had fallen on the ground as she desperately ran her fingers through her hair, knowing he’d made an unholy mess of it.

“You’re fine,” he muttered, handing her the bag, keeping the distance between them as a group of junior boys stomped past, none giving them a second glance.

“You have good ears,” Indy said finally, biting her lip at the close call. If those boys had seen them, the news would have spread like wildfire through the OBX campus and everyone would have known by the end of the day. And they couldn’t have that. She was a young tennis pro on the verge of breaking out; he was an up‑and-coming agent. The last thing either of their careers needed was the heightened publicity of a controversial relationship, even if Jack Harrison was far more of a gentleman than any guy she’d ever met. Sometimes, a little too much of a gentleman, truth be told.

Jack glanced back over his shoulder again before facing her fully. “I’m sorry about this.”

She reached out and took his hand. “We agreed,” she said, entwining their fingers, “it’s just between us for now. It makes sense for both of us.” He nodded, but she knew he wasn’t entirely convinced. Hell, she wasn’t entirely convinced. “You said you were okay with it.”

“I just wish it were different,” he said, tugging her closer, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. His hands released hers and dropped to her hips, the edges of his thumbs brushing against her hip bones in slow circles, sending shivers over her skin.

“Me too.” She wanted to scream it from the rooftops that this amazing guy was hers. That he had deep green eyes that glowed at her touch and a smile that brightened whenever he looked at her. That he was brilliant in ways she couldn’t even fathom with a degree from Harvard to prove it. That he’d fought their attraction for so long because of an ingrained sense of honor, like one of those heroes in a fairy tale, except Jack was real, flesh and blood.

“Have you thought at least . . . maybe we should tell Penny?” Indy asked, her guilt from earlier creeping back in even as her fingertips landed on his forearms, gently stroking up to his elbows and back down to his wrists. Maybe Jack would have some answers there.

Jack let out a heavy breath. “Penny has a lot on her plate right now.”

“I know. I just feel funny keeping it from her. And Jasmine knows. I would feel bad if Penny found out from someone who wasn’t us.”

“You think she’d tell her?” Indy considered for a moment. “I don’t think so, not on purpose anyway, but secrets have a way of getting out, one way or another.”

“If you’re uncomfortable, Indiana, then the rest of it doesn’t matter. If you want to tell Penny or tell everyone, that’s what we’ll do.”

“No, I . . . that’s not what I mean. I don’t need a supportive. . .” She hesitated, almost using the word boyfriend, but that didn’t really fit, did it? Not if they were keeping it a secret. “I need your honest opinion.”

He leaned back, looking her in the eye. “Honest? Honestly, my sister doesn’t do well with change. It freaks her out, and right now, I’m not sure that the idea of you and me will go over that well. On the other hand, if we don’t tell her and she finds out?”

“She’ll be pissed.”

“Yep.”

“We could tell her in London.”

Jack considered for a moment. “Face‑to‑face instead of over the phone.”

“There’s always FaceTime,” she said, though her stomach twisted at the thought of telling her at all. She wasn’t really sure if she wanted to know what Penny, the only girl who’d befriended her when she first arrived at OBX, would think if she found out she and Jack were together and they’d both lied about it.

“There’s that,” he said, sounding just as hesitant as she was.

“No.” They should do it in person. They should have done it before they left Paris, but Penny had been so devastated after she had to withdraw from the tournament that it hadn’t felt like the right time then either. “In London. We’ll be there in less than a week. We’ll tell her then.”

“Okay, in London,” he agreed.

They stood together for a moment, just breathing each other in, until Jack leaned away, checking his phone. “I should go. I have a meeting with a potential new client this afternoon and I’ve got to prep.”

Indy snorted a laugh. “Right, like you don’t already have a complete profile worked up, along with potential sponsors to contact if they sign.”

“You know me so well.” He smiled, peering around the building, checking the pathway for any more unwanted spectators. “I’ll go this way.”

Indy gestured back in the opposite direction. “And I’ll go that way.”

He hesitated for a second and then leaned in for one more kiss, quick and fierce, that sent a current of white-hot electricity through her. Then he was gone.

She adjusted her bag over her shoulder and headed toward the video room. She’d only have about half the time for vid analysis that she originally planned for. But as she pressed her fingertips lightly against that spot on her neck, recalling the feel of his mouth and the way her entire body was lit on fire by his touch, she decided it was totally worth it.

“Are you sure that is a good idea?” A voice rang out from just a few steps behind her, the French accent giving its owner away, if the superiority and condescension weren’t enough of a clue. Indy spun around and came face‑to‑face with Caroline Morneau, her agent. Tall, blond, perfectly put together in a silk blouse and linen skirt, she somehow looked completely cool and calm despite the blazing sun and oppressive humidity. She was in town before they all left for England, mostly to go over her plans for Indy’s future off the court.

Words of denial formed on Indy’s tongue, but she knew it was useless. Caroline had clearly seen them. Shit.

“Good idea or not, it’s none of your business.”

Raising her eyes to the sky and shaking her head, Caroline said, “You are my business, Indiana.”

“How many times do I have to say it? Don’t call me that, and my tennis is your business,” Indy corrected. “Keep your nose out of everything else.”

“It is not that simple,” Caroline insisted, her voice inching up in pitch.

“It really is.” Indy turned on her toe and walked away, wanting to look back, hoping that Caroline’s brow was furrowed and her hands were on her hips, mouth twisted in aggravation. But looking back would ruin the moment. Even though Indy had gotten the last word, Caroline now

had the upper hand, and it was only a matter of time before she pressed her advantage.

For generations of Star Trek fans, William Shatner's Captain Kirk remains the face of the franchise. That's why a newly revealed behind-the-scenes story from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is so interesting. It turns out producers spent years trying to bring Shatner back, and the idea they developed sounds like something many longtime viewers would have loved to see.

The revelation comes from Strange New Worlds executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman, who recently discussed one of the biggest stories they never managed to bring to the screen. According to multiple interviews published ahead of the show's upcoming fourth season, the creative team repeatedly explored ways to involve Shatner in the series. The effort stretched across several seasons and included multiple story concepts.

Their most ambitious idea centered on a return to 'The City on the Edge of Forever,' widely regarded as one of the greatest episodes in Star Trek history. In the original 1967 story, Kirk falls in love with Edith Keeler while traveling through time. He ultimately allows history to take its tragic course in order to preserve the future.

The proposed Strange New Worlds storyline would have imagined an alternate version of Kirk who made a different choice. Instead of returning to his own time, this version would have remained with Edith Keeler (played by the amazing Joan Collins), creating an entirely different future. Shatner would have played that older alternate Kirk, allowing the actor to revisit one of the most important relationships from the original series decades after it first appeared on television.

According to the producers, the concept was discussed repeatedly and scripts were developed, but the episode never moved forward. No definitive explanation has been provided for why the project failed to materialize. With Strange New Worlds now approaching its final seasons, the opportunity appears to have passed.

What makes the story especially compelling is how neatly it connects multiple generations of Star Trek. Strange New Worlds has already embraced the franchise's history while introducing new audiences to classic characters. A Shatner appearance tied directly to one of the most beloved episodes ever produced would have created a wonderful bridge between the original series and the modern era.

One additional 'what if' detail is that Joan Collins is thankfully still with us, so there's a possibility that she may even have been able to return to her original role in the story. Now that would have been a way to boldly go into a sequel to a Trek classic.
