In an era where open-concept living can sometimes feel a bit exposed, the nook has returned as a vital architectural element of the home. The goal is to find furniture that offers a sense of enclosure and privacy without requiring a separate room. This is where the classic silhouette of high-back seating excels, offering a physical barrier against the distractions of a busy household while providing the support needed for long periods of reading or reflection.

The psychology of comfort suggests that we feel most relaxed when our physical surroundings offer a sense of cradle. Deep seating, supportive headrests, and a place to elevate the feet are the three pillars of ergonomic lounging. Beyond the physical benefits, the visual impact of a statement piece cannot be overstated. Adding a pop of bold color or a unique texture to a neutral room can instantly elevate the entire aesthetic, turning a functional seating area into a focal point of sophisticated design.

Why Josh Duggar’s Early Release Bid Is in Limbo Weeks After Joseph’s Arrest

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:51pm

Josh Duggar’s latest legal push isn’t gaining traction just yet, and it all comes down to a technical detail that could make or break his case.

The former reality star appeared in federal court on Wednesday, April 15 via video as part of his ongoing effort to challenge his 2021 conviction involving child sexual abuse material. Duggar, now four years into a 151-month sentence, is asking for a new trial or for the conviction to be thrown out entirely.

According to PEOPLE, his legal team laid out several arguments, including claims that key witnesses weren’t properly questioned and that expert testimony presented during the trial was flawed or misleading. The 38 year old also pointed to the resurfacing of past allegations involving his sisters, arguing that it unfairly influenced the jury.

Things took a turn as the court zeroed in on whether Duggar’s appeal was even filed on time, an issue that has to be resolved before anything else can move forward. Duggar and his attorney say the paperwork was mailed on June 24, 2025, which would have met the deadline. The problem is that prison mail records reportedly don’t show anything sent by Duggar on that date.

That discrepancy has effectively paused the case. For now, the judge is holding off on reviewing the actual arguments until it’s clear whether the filing itself was valid—leaving Duggar’s appeal stuck in limbo.

The timing adds another layer to an already complicated moment for the Duggar family. Just weeks earlier, Josh’s younger brother Joseph Duggar was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a minor. Additional charges followed in Arkansas, where both Joseph, 31, and his wife KendraDuggar were accused of child endangerment in a separate case. Both have since been released on bond.

Kendra, 27, was released shortly after her arrest after posting a $1,470 bond, while Joseph later posted a $600,000 bond in Florida and was released on March 31. The couple has not publicly addressed the charges themselves, though Kendra’s family shared a statement expressing heartbreak over the situation and support for the alleged victim.

Chet Hanks, the son of screen legend Tom Hanks and actress Rita Wilson, is looking quite handsome on the red carpet.

While his father is known for iconic films like Apollo 13Saving Private Ryan, and Philadelphia, Chet, 35, is coming into his own these days. After early roles, guest-starring on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Atlanta, Chet has gone on to recurring roles on series like Empire and Your Honor. Now, he stars alongside Kate Hudson in a recurring role on the Netflix series Running Point. At the season 2 Los Angeles premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, Hanks looked quite handsome as he worked the red carpet with his castmates.

Did Chet Hanks Get Stuck in Colombia?

It seems so, but he's back home now! Apparently, the actor was traveling on his Greek passport and visiting friends in Puerto Rico when he decided to head to Colombia for a few days. However, because he didn't have his American passport, which was about to expire, he was stuck in Colombia. In a unique Instagram video, Hanks declared, "free me."

“So I'm literally stuck in Colombia. I'm stuck in Medellin. Granted, there's worse places to be stuck, but I literally have no f------ idea what I'm going to do. And the only embassy to get this shit settled is in Bogotá. I don't want to go to Bogotá. So, yeah, free me. You know what I'm saying? Free me,” Hanks told the camera.

Don't worry, because Hanks managed to make it home to sunny Los Angeles safely!

Any fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm will remember the hilarious episode where Sammy, the daughter of Jeff and Susie, has a new boyfriend, Victor. But some may not remember that Chet Hanks plays Victor. Naturally, Larry David makes a fool of himself by refusing to say "Thank you for your service" to Victor, enraging the entire household. It's definitely worth a rewatch!

Here’s Why Everyone Is Obsessed With Meghan Markle’s Meaningful ‘Mama’ Tee, and Where To Get One

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:42pm

On her recent trip to Australia, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out in an absolutely adorable ‘Mama’ t-shirt. And while pics of Meghan Markle in the top are trending, this isn’t the typical high-end fashion she usually wears. Instead, the sweet shirt is a nod to her friend Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of the nonprofit organization Alliance of Moms.

Whether you already saw the photos of Markle in the heart tee and thought, “Hey, where can I get one of those myself?” or you just want to learn more about the heartwarming story behind this chic choice, here’s what you need to know!

Kelly McKee Zajfen is more than just Meghan Markle’s friend. Obviously. While her royal connection puts her in the spotlight, Zajfen is no basic Hollywood socialite. She’s a former model, advocate, and dedicated philanthropist who co-founded Alliance of Moms, a nonprofit that supports pregnant and parenting teens in the Los Angeles foster care system. Zajfen is also a board member of the Alliance of Children’s Rights, which helps protect the rights of children/young adults in foster care.

In 2022, Zajfen’s nine-year-old son, George, tragically lost his life to Covid and viral meningitis. She later shared a heartfelt essay (in 2024), opening up to People about the grief she felt after this sudden and unexpected loss.

Zajfen is also the mother to 13-year-old Lilly and recently welcomed her second son, Jack Oliver Zajfen

How are Zajfen, Alliance of Moms, and Meghan Markle’s ‘Mama’ tee connected?

The stylish white t-shirt with a big red heart that reads ‘Mama’ is more than just a fashion statement. It’s a charitable contribution to Zajfen’s organization, Alliance of Moms. The limited-edition item was created in collaboration with the brand Free & Easy.

In a statement on the Alliance of Moms website, Free & Easy founder Kevin Circosta said, “We created this T-shirt as a small symbol of something big: care, dignity, and selflessly showing up for people with love, support, and compassion.”

Zajfen recently posted a belly bump-baring pic of herself (on Instagram) wearing the shirt, explaining the meaningful way the tees can help pregnant and parenting teens, “By purchasing a t-shirt you are helping build that community for them. Helping them get all the resources they need to stand on their own two feet with all the hope and love and support that they would otherwise not get.”

1973 Hit Ranked Among ‘Best Rock Songs’ of All Time Became a Timeless Classic

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:42pm

In 1973, The Stooges released a song that would go on to reshape the sound, and attitude, of rock music.

Their track, "Search and Destroy" has since been ranked among the best rock songs of all time by Entertainment Weekly, a recognition that recognizes and immortalizes its lasting influence.

Featured on the album Raw Power, the song opens with a blistering guitar riff before launching into a relentless, high-energy performance. Frontman Iggy Pop delivers the lyrics with a ferocity that would become his signature, channeling themes of chaos, rebellion and survival.

"Search And Destroy" originated at RG Jones Studio in Wimbledon," Stooges guitarist James Williamson told Louder. "During a break in rehearsing, I started goofing around making machine gun sounds with the guitar, and it kind of clicked with me. Then back where we were living in Chelsea, I worked out the rest of the song around that."

"Search and Destroy" stood out for its raw, stripped-down sound, a sharp contrast to the more polished rock music dominating the early 1970s. Its aggressive energy and confrontational style helped pave the way for the punk movement that would emerge later in the decade, influencing countless artists across genres.

"Iggy's a stream-of-consciousness writer," said Williamson. "He'd been reading about Vietnam a lot in the papers, so with the machine-gun guitar it just came to mind."

The songs impact extends far beyond its original release. Over the years, it has been covered, referenced and celebrated as a defining moment in rock history. Its unfiltered intensity and unapologetic tone continue to resonate with listeners who are drawn to music that challenges convention.

While it may not have been a massive commercial hit at the time, "Search and Destroy" has grown into a cult classic, widely regarded as one of the most important songs in the evolution of modern rock.

More than 50 years later, the track remains a powerful reminder of rock music at its most raw and uncompromising.

With its inclusion on Entertainment Weekly's list, "Search and Destroy" stands as a timeless classic—one that continues to inspire generations of musicians and fans alike.

Steve Irwin’s Legacy Lives On in Touching New Photo of Granddaughter Grace

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:35pm

Steve Irwin's wife, Terri Irwin, shared the sweetest full-circle moment on April 16 when she posted a photo of her granddaughter, Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, using a swing Steve built for Grace's mom, Bindi Sue Irwin, decades ago.

"Steve originally built this swing for Bindi," Terri wrote in the caption of the photo, which shows the little girl beaming while playing on the swing made of two ropes and a board hanging from a tree. "He would be so happy to know that now Grace is playing in the sunshine on the swing he made with love."

Fans were touched by the sweet photo and seeing Steve's legacy live on with his grandkids. "I can absolutely picture Steve standing proudly behind precious Grace in this picture. Big Ol' Smile on his face," wrote one, while another added, "So sweet to see the next generation of Wildlife Warriors." A third said, "Why is my screen so blurry all of the sudden?"

Bindi first met her now-husband Chandler Powell in 2013 when he visited the Australia Zoo, where her family works and lives. The two stayed in touch and began a long-distance relationship before eventually going public and building a life together in Australia.

Powell proposed in July 2019 on Irwin’s 21st birthday, and the couple married on March 25, 2020, in a private ceremony at Australia Zoo, with only close family present due to COVID-19 restrictions.

They later welcomed their daughter, Grace, on March 25, 2021, exactly one year after their wedding day. Becoming parents was extra special for the duo, because Bindi's endometriosis made conception complicated.

"We feel so lucky to have Grace," Bindi told People in 2023. "I think that every day I wake up and I look at our beautiful daughter and think she is our tiny little miracle and it makes me cry because we were very, very lucky to have her."

Her name is also very special to the couple, and a tribute to Bindi's late dad, who died in September 2006 after being pierced in the heart by a stingray's barb while snorkeling. "Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior," she shared on Instagram after the little one's birth.

4 Birth Months Most Likely to Read Minds

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:33pm

You know those people who just get it, the ones who can tell something's wrong before you say a word, or somehow respond to exactly what you needed to hear? They aren’t just making guesses; they're attuned to a level that most people never quite reach. Interestingly, astrology reveals birth months are cosmically aligned with the traits most likely to produce these quietly intuitive individuals more than others. Some people listen carefully, while others tend to observe closely. However, those born in the following four birth months seem to have a deeper understanding without needing anything spelled out.

Which Birth Months Are Most Likely to Read Minds?

Check for your birth month. Disregard your birth date.

FURTHER: The 4 Birth Months That Make The Best Writers

February

Those born in February see the world with a subtle kind of awareness. They tend not to be the loudest in the room, but they are most definitely the most perceptive. They notice pauses, shifts in tone, the things people try to hide. They understand emotions before they're fully expressed, which makes them incredibly easy to open up to. Whether you're a forward-thinking Aquarius who naturally reads between the lines, or a deeply intuitive Pisces who feels what others won't say out loud, February-borns seem to pick up on everything without even trying.

RELATE?: Which Bird Mirrors Your Soul, Based on Birth Month

March

March brings a different kind of intuition that feels instinctive. These individuals don't always need evidence or explanation; they know. They trust their inner voice to guide them on the right path. They can sense changes in energy before anything actually happens, and they often pick up on emotions that others haven't even processed yet. It's a powerful, if sometimes overwhelming, gift. Whether you're a sensitive Pisces who absorbs the feelings around you, or an instinct-driven Aries who reads situations in an instant, March-borns carry a natural awareness that's hard to explain but impossible to ignore.

MORE: The 4 Birth Months With a Naturally Calming Presence

June

June people quietly sense things others miss. They are aware of mood shifts, tone changes, and pauses that say more than words do. Talking to them is easy because you don't have to overexplain yourself; they're already a step ahead. They listen, but also read between the lines, and that is where their strength is. Whether you're a quick-witted Gemini who catches every nuance in a conversation, or an intuitive Cancer who naturally feels what others are going through, June-borns have a quiet way of understanding what's really being said.

NEXT: The 4 Birth Months With the Strongest Auras

October

October-born people have a quiet precision when it comes to reading others. They don't jump to conclusions; rather, they observe, take things in, and find the right insight. They're good at picking up on hidden tension or feelings, even when everything looks fine on the outside. It's this subtle awareness that makes them so socially intuitive. Either a balanced Libra, who senses emotional shifts in a room, or a perceptive Scorpio, who sees straight through facades, October-borns rarely miss what others overlook.

A Popular Fishing Hole in Wyoming Mysteriously Turned a Rusty Red Color

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:31pm

In Wyoming, a popular fishing spot has recently shifted into an unsettling rusty red hue, surprising anglers, locals, and even environmental experts who are still working to understand what is driving the transformation. According to reporting from WyoFile, the change has persisted long enough to rule out a simple one-time disturbance, raising questions about chemistry, ecology, and climate stress in high-altitude waters.

“A dark, murky brownish-red. That’s the color of Sublette County’s Little Soda Lake as of the last few weeks” says Caitlin Tan, Wyoming Public Media reporting on Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality investigation.

Standing at the edge of a lake like that, you would probably do what I would do: pause, squint, and try to convince yourself it is just the light.

Stay in the loop with fresh travel stories and updates—subscribe to our newsletter.

Why a Wyoming Lake Turned Rust Red: What Scientists Are Saying

Per Wyofile, the exact cause of the color shift is still under investigation, but early explanations point to natural chemical reactions occurring in the water and surrounding soils. In similar cases across the Rocky Mountain region, iron-rich sediments can oxidize when exposed to changing oxygen levels, producing a reddish or rust-colored tint in the water.

That process can be triggered by a range of environmental changes. Lower water levels, shifts in temperature, or changes in runoff patterns can all expose minerals that were previously stable. Once iron interacts with oxygen, it essentially behaves like rust forming on metal, but on a landscape scale.

Related: The Great Lakes Are Finally Getting a Michelin Guide—Here Are the Cities Included

Experts quoted in Wyofile's reporting on the Wyoming lake have suggested that this may not be a single cause but a combination of natural processes amplified by recent environmental conditions.

There is also another layer to consider: microbial activity. Certain bacteria thrive in iron-rich environments and can influence both water chemistry and color, sometimes accelerating visible changes in the water column. That means what looks like a simple discoloration can actually be a living, shifting ecosystem response.

What a Rust-Colored Lake Means for Travelers in Wyoming

If you are visiting Wyoming expecting postcard blues and glassy reflections, a rust-colored lake feels almost like a glitch in the landscape. But Wyoming is a state that often rewards close attention. Its high plains and mountain basins are constantly adjusting to seasonal and climatic shifts, which means water bodies here can change more visibly than in more stable environments.

For travelers, a lake like this becomes less about recreation and more about observation. Anglers might still fish nearby waters depending on local advisories, but the visual transformation itself becomes the attraction.

Explore the latest travel stories and updates by subscribing to our newsletter.

Is It Safe to Visit or Fish in the Discolored Lake?

At the time of Wyofile's reporting, there had been no widely issued warnings indicating immediate danger from the water’s color change, but conditions like this are typically monitored closely by state wildlife and environmental agencies.

In situations involving iron oxidation or natural sediment shifts, water can remain biologically stable even while looking unusual. However, officials generally recommend checking local advisories before fishing or swimming, since changes in chemistry can sometimes affect fish behavior or oxygen levels.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department routinely monitors water quality in popular fishing areas, especially when unusual discoloration appears, to ensure aquatic life is not being negatively impacted in ways that are not immediately visible at the surface.

Across the western United States, water systems are becoming more visually dynamic as drought cycles, temperature shifts, and altered runoff patterns affect sediment movement and water chemistry. The U.S. Geological Survey has documented how changes in mineral exposure and oxygen levels can significantly alter the appearance of water in lakes and reservoirs over time.

The Travel Takeaway: When Nature Changes the Color of the Map

Some travel moments are about what you planned to see. Others are about what you did not expect to find. It is not a manufactured attraction or a curated viewpoint. It is a reminder that even in places that feel stable and familiar, nature is constantly rewriting itself.

If you find yourself driving through Wyoming and see water that does not match the picture in your mind, it is worth slowing down. Because sometimes the most interesting travel stories are not the ones written in guidebooks.

Aaron Carter’s Mom Launches GoFundMe to Honor Late Singer With Walk of Fame Star

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:26pm

Aaron Carter's mom, Jane Carter Schneck, is asking fans for help in raising money to get the pop icon his own Walk of Fame star. Carter died in November 2022 after police found the singer unresponsive after drowning in a bathtub.

According to TMZ, Schneck has started a GoFundMe campaign in the hopes of securing $85K to fill out the necessary paperwork to secure a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in her son's honor. Unknown to most, but to secure a star on the infamous walkway, a formal application has to be filled out, as well as a sponsorship fee.

The application must then be approved by the Walk of Fame selection committee. Shcneck says she hopes to have the funds available by the time she plans to submit the paperwork by the May 15 deadline.

"The funds will cover the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star. We are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy," she wrote in the campaign.

"Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. If you’re unable to give, sharing this campaign means just as much. Let’s come together to celebrate Aaron’s life, his music, and the lasting mark he left on so many hearts. Thank you for your love and support."

The GoFundMe campaign is still in its early stages of donations, with a month to secure the necessary funds. It has currently secured over $300 since it was created on Tuesday, April 14. According to the pop star's mother, Aaron's siblings, Nick and Angel Carter, are also in support of the campaign.

Aaron was a teen pop icon in the late '90s into the 2000s and was a cemented teen heartthrob among his fans. He rose to fame with his self-titled album in 1997 and hits like "I Want Candy," "I'm All About You," and his chart-topping album Aaron's Party (Come Get It). He also appeared in his series, like Lizzie McGuire, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and a guest role on 7th Heaven.

In 2001, he made his Broadway debut as JoJo in Seussical the Musical and later returned to the stage in a 2011 Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks.

In early November 2022, Aaron's ex-fiancée, Melanie Martin, reported the news of the singer's death. His house sitter found him unresponsive in his bathtub, with authorities later reporting it as an accidental death by drowning.

We Asked 3 Gastroenterologists About the Best Morning Habit for Gut Health and They All Said the Same Thing

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:25pm

Morning routines can turn into self-care rituals that put you in the headspace to take on the day. They can also be something you plow through groggily with a cup of coffee in hand. We're not here to judge either approach, but gastroenterologists say there are things you can add to your morning routine to set yourself up for a good gut day.

"Your morning routine can quietly set the tone for your gut for the entire day," says Dr. Ami Behara, MD, a gastroenterologist with Endeavor Health. "Your digestive system is especially responsive in the morning, so what you do can support smoother digestion."

Another gastroenterologist agrees that morning is a critical time to rise and help your gut shine.

"The gut responds directly to your daily rhythms," explains Dr. Vikram Tarugu, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist and founder of the Wellington Digestive Institute. "Sleep, stress, the way you move and your diet all influence your microbiome and digestive function. When you understand that connection, gut symptoms stop feeling random."

Dr. Tarugu says our daily habits can work for or against our guts. Ready to wake up to the idea of building a morning routine that supports your digestive system? It's a good idea to take it one step at a time if you're new to a morning routine that doesn't involve groggily turning on your coffeemaker, or if your current habits aren't the best for your gut health. We asked three gastroenterologists to share the best first step, and they all agreed on the same morning habit.

The Best Morning Habit for Gut Health, per Gastroenterologists

Ekaterina Goncharova/Getty Images

Gastroenterologists agree that the best morning habit for your digestive health is to drink water soon after waking up.

"Drinking water in the morning does a lot for your short-term health, Dr. Tarugu tells Parade. "First, it helps to rehydrate the gut lining. Assuming you’re getting eight hours of sleep, that’s eight hours without fluids, meaning your intestinal lining is dry. Drinking water helps to restore that protective layer so that food can move through comfortably."

Dr. Behara says the well-hydrated intestinal lining doesn't just help food pass through your system; it also helps your body absorb key nutrients more efficiently.

Of course, at some point, something (aka poop) has to come out. Thanks to water, it'll come out more easily.

"Adequate hydration is important for avoiding constipation," explains Dr. Adam Pont, MD, a gastroenterologist with Medical Offices of Manhattan and labfinder.com contributor. "Not consuming enough water can certainly lead to constipation, especially if you tend towards constipation at baseline."

Dr. Behara adds that water helps move stool through the colon by activating the muscles in your intestines to contract. The result? "Easier, more regular bowel movement," she says.

If you make this habit stick, it can become almost second-nature, which is good if you're someone who drags in the morning, and it can provide long-lasting gut health perks.

"Drinking water every morning trains your gut to work better over time by building regular bowel patterns, supporting a healthier gut lining, maintaining a microbiome balance and reducing chronic digestive issues," Dr. Behara says.

When you habitually drink water in the morning, you'll likely notice that you're more regular. You'll protect your gut and keep it balanced."It's a small habit, but it creates a consistent signal that keeps your digestive system running smoothly," Dr. Behara adds.

Indeed, water intake is consistently linked to less constipation.

How Much Water Should You Drink Each Morning?

"In general, 8 to 16 ounces—1 to 2 cups," Dr. Behara advises. "This range is enough to kickstart your gut without overwhelming your system."

Dr. Tarugu shares similar sentiments. "I recommend two standard glasses within the first half hour to hour of waking up, so about 16 ounces," he says. "If you struggle with constipation, warm or room-temperature water might be more effective at stimulating gut motility than drinking ice water."

When you drink your water can also matter. "I also recommend drinking water before you have your first cup of coffee or before you have breakfast," Dr. Tarugu states. "Coffee is a diuretic, so hydrating first gives your gut a head start."

3 More Great Morning Habits for Your Digestive System

Drinking water is an excellent and foundational morning habit. But you can build from there. GI doctors share three more morning habits that can improve your gut health:

1. Eat a fiber-filled breakfast

"Americans do not get enough fiber in their diets," Dr. Tarugu states.

You can put yourself on the path to meeting your fiber needs through breakfast foods that are easy to keep on hand, like oatmeal, berries and spinach in an omelet or smoothie. Dr. Tarugu says these foods will "help to feed the beneficial bacteria in your colon."

2. Get moving

It doesn't have to be anything high-impact, but Dr. Behara suggests moving your body in the morning. "You can take a short walk, stretch or do light exercise for 5 to 15 minutes," she says. "Movement stimulates your intestines to contract, which helps to move gas and stool along.  This allows for easier and more regular bowel movements and less bloating."

3. Stay calm

Try to ease into your day. "Avoid rushing-try deep breathing or sunlight," Dr. Behara suggests. "Stress can slow or upset digestion, and a calm state tells your gut that it's 'safe' to function normally."

Worried About GLP-1 Shortages? Here’s Exactly What To Ask Your Pharmacist

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:25pm

At the end of 2025, President Trump announced agreements made between the U.S. government and pharmaceutical companies to lower the costs of GLP-1s. The goal was to make the drugs (used for diabetes and weight loss management) more accessible. So far, GLP-1s have become more accessible thanks to these agreements as well as the introduction of oral GLP-1s for weight loss.

As the number of people being prescribed a GLP-1 continues to grow, you may be wondering if the supply will run out. If you are currently taking a GLP-1, whether it’s for diabetes management or weight loss, you may be concerned that the more people who are prescribed a GLP-1, the harder it will be for you to attain your medication. After all, there have been severe GLP-1 shortages in the past.

Related: This Common GLP-1 Dosing Mistake Can Backfire Fast, Doctors Warn

“According to the Food and Drug Administration, semaglutide and tirzepatide are no longer in shortage as of February 21, 2025. However, dulaglutide and liraglutide are considered in shortage currently,” explains Dr. Erika Gray, PharmD, a pharmacist and the founder and chief medical officer of Toolbox Genomics. That means, if you take Trulicity (dulaglutide), Victoza or Saxenda (liraglutide), you could have a hard time getting your prescription this spring.

Even though Wegovy, Ozempic and Mounjaro are not in short supply right now, future shortages aren't off the table. “As GLP-1s become more and more popular and there are additional indications, I think we will see these shortages come and go for the next few years,” Dr. Gray says.

How do pharmacies deal with GLP-1 shortages? And more importantly, how should you? Here’s everything you need to know.

How Pharmacies Navigate GLP-1 Shortages

Dr. Taylor Clark, PharmD, a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Binghamton University, State University of New York, says that pharmacies handle GLP-1 shortages in several different ways.

“If the pharmacy is still able to obtain a limited stock but not enough to meet the demand of their patient population, they may manage a wait list for the medication that tracks all patients waiting for the drug in chronological order,” she explains.

Related: We Asked 3 Metabolism Experts What People on GLP-1s Should Never Skip—They All Agreed

If that isn’t possible, Dr. Clark suggests the patient transition to an alternative medication. Another way pharmacies navigate shortages, Dr. Gray explains, is by giving partial refills that will hold patients over until additional shipments of the drug come in.

Both pharmacists say that patients with a medical necessity are prioritized during a drug shortage. “For example, GLP-1s are used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes or weight loss. Those with type 2 diabetes who are reliant on this medication for lowering their blood sugars would likely be prioritized,” Dr. Gray explains.

Questions To Ask Your Pharmacist and Other Tips for Managing GLP-1 Shortages

It’s completely normal to have questions during a GLP-1 shortage, and it’s helpful to know what questions pharmacists can and can’t answer. Dr. Gray says that some questions you can ask your pharmacist during a GLP-1 shortage are:

  • Which GLP-1 medications are in short supply?
  • Which GLP-1 medications are not in short supply?
  • Will this shortage affect my own access to my GLP-1 medication?
  • If my GLP-1 medication is in shortage, can I switch to an alternative?
  • Can we use a different strength?

To answer these questions, the pharmacist may have to consult your doctor, but together they can work toward a solution until the medication is back in stock.

Is It Safe To Take a Compounded Medication Instead?

If the type of GLP-1 you take is in short supply, you may be wondering if it’s safe to take a compounded medication instead. A compounded medication is a drug created by a pharmacist when a commercial, FDA-approved drug is not suitable for the patient or available. It’s important to know that compounded medications are not approved by the FDA.

Dr. Gray warns against taking a compounded GLP-1. “The American Diabetes Association strongly advises against the use of non-FDA-approved compounded GLP-1s because there is uncertainty about their contents and quality. Since the compounded products are not FDA-regulated, their safety and efficacy may not be the same as what is expected with the FDA-approved products,” Dr. Clark says.

If you are going to take a compounded GLP-1 during a shortage, Dr. Gray suggests using a 503A or B pharmacy that has certificates of analysis for their products.

Another thing you should not do during a GLP-1 shortage is to lower your dose in an effort to make your medication last longer. If you have had to taper your dose down due to a shortage—which should only be done if your doctor advises it—she says not to jump right back to your original dose when the shortage is over. Instead, work with your doctor to titrate up to your original dose.

When GLP-1 shortages occur, your doctor and pharmacist can answer any questions you have and will work together to manage your care. Drug shortages may be frustrating, but they are temporary. Doctors and pharmacists are trained to know how to bridge the gap during shortages until the supply is steady once again. Instead of troubleshooting on your own, allow them to guide you.

Google Settles $135 Million Android Data Lawsuit — Here's Who Benefits

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:24pm

If you're not an iPhone user, chances are there's an Android in your pocket.

Some customers may have already caught wind of the class action lawsuit Google has been battling. Either way, all that seemingly came to an end when the corporation agreed to a $135 million settlement recently, to resolve claims that it used Android devices to transfer information to Google without user permission, consuming cellular data, Top Class Actions reports.

The Google class action settlement benefits consumers who have used mobile devices running the Android operating system to access the internet through cellular data networks since Nov. 12, 2017, and those who are not class members in a similar lawsuit, Csupo v. Google LLC.

Under the terms of the Google settlement, class members can receive a cash payment. Exact amounts will vary depending on the number of participating class members and the amount each class member paid for cellular data while using Android devices.

According to the settlement website, there are approximately 100 million class members. Each class member is expected to receive the same amount from the settlement fund, but exact payment amounts are not available at this time.

According to the class action lawsuit, Google’s Android operating system caused devices to transfer information to Google without user permission. The transfers allegedly took place in the background, even when devices were idle and not in use, Top Class Actions also noted earlier this month.

The plaintiffs in the case say that Google could have made these transfers happen only when devices were connected to Wi-Fi — but instead chose to use cellular data. The unauthorized use of cellular data allegedly violated the law and required Google to compensate users for the cellular data used for its own benefit.

Google has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to the $135 million settlement to resolve the allegations.

The deadline for exclusion and objection to the class action settlement is May 29, 2026. The final approval hearing for the Google settlement is scheduled for June 23, 2026.

’80s Brat Pack Heartthrob Looks Unrecognizable in Rare Outing

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:11pm

The ’80s gave fans the Brat Pack and a wave of unforgettable heartthrobs, including actor Judd Nelson.

Though he’s continued acting over the years, Nelson stepped away from Hollywood’s glitz and glamour, opting for a quieter, more private life after the height of the Brat Pack era.

Nelson mostly avoids the limelight, even declining to appear in fellow Brat Pack star Andrew McCarthys documentary titled Brats.

This week, however, the 66-year-old is making headlines again after being spotted on a rare Los Angeles outing, looking vastly different from how many remember him. And it’s not because of his age either.

In the photos, Nelson can be seen sporting a scruffy, bushy gray beard with specs of black, while rocking a motorcycle helmet and sunglasses. The actor was wearing camouflage pants, a long blue coat, motorcycle riding gloves, and had a backpack flung over his shoulder.

One of the pictures obtained by the Daily Mail featured Nelson riding away on his motorcycle.

It was his breakout performance as rebellious bad boy John Bender, who falls for prom queen Claire (Molly Ringwald) in The Breakfast Club, that put Nelson on the map.

Nelson also starred inSt. Elmo's Fire, another major Brat Pack hit, playing clean-cut, Alec. The character was very different from Bender, but he was far from perfect, with his infidelity one of his biggest flaws.

St. Elmo's Fire reunited Nelson with his The Breakfast Clubco-stars Ally Sheedy and Emilio Estevez, as the mega hit film also starred McCarthy, Rob Lowe,Demi Moore, and Mare Winningham.

Some of his other notable roles include films such as New Jack City, Billionaire Boys Club, and Blue City. In the late '90s, Nelson scored a TV gig as Brooke Shields' boss, Jack, in the sitcomSuddenly Susan.

Whether he was the good guy or the bad guy, fans couldn’t get enough of Nelson back in the day, largely due to his hunky looks and amazing talent.

Despite his desire for a quiet life, Nelson has steadily worked since The Breakfast Club, even making a rare appearance when the film's cast reunited in 2025, marking the first time Nelson, Ringwald, Sheedy, Estevez, and Anthony reunited in decades.

This 1,000-Page Novel Is Just One Sentence — And It Won a Major Award

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:11pm

Most novels come with chapters, paragraph breaks, and, well, many, many sentences. Ducks, Newburyport offers none of that, and judges at one of fiction's most prestigious prizes called it a masterpiece anyway.

Lucy Ellmann's Ducks, Newburyport, a novel of more than 1,000 pages written mostly in a single sentence, won the 2019 Goldsmiths Prize, a British literary award given annually to fiction that 'breaks the mold or extends the possibilities of the novel form.'

The novel's main character is an unnamed middle-aged woman who lives in Newcomerstown, Ohio. What unfolds is a stream-of-consciousness meditation on life, memory, motherhood, and the randomness of everyday experience, captured as she bakes pies in her kitchen. The stream of thought pulls in everything from shopping lists and parenting anxieties to climate change and gun culture, building up over 1,000 pages.

The continuous stream-of-consciousness is interrupted only by short episodes involving a mountain lioness and her cubs, told by a separate narrator. These interludes use more conventional narrative structure, with multiple sentences and a focused story. The lioness roams West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio searching for her cubs after they are taken by humans.

Related: Stephen King Ruled Horror Every Year of the '90s — Except One

Judges chair Erica Wagnercalled the novel 'that rare thing: a book which, not long after its publication, one can unhesitatingly call a masterpiece,' saying Ellmann 'remakes the novel and expands the reader's idea of what is possible with the form.'

Accepting the award, which comes with a cash prize, Ellmann said, 'It's a lot of money for one sentence and it may make me write a few more.' You have to love that level of wit.

The book's publishing journey was also unconventional. It was published by Galley Beggar Press in Norwich, England after being rejected by Ellmann's regular publisher, Bloomsbury. North American publishing rights were acquired by Windsor, Canada-based Biblioasis.

Ducks, Newburyport was also shortlisted for the 2019 Booker Prize, the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction, and the Saltire Prize, and went on to win the 2020 James Tait Black Prize.

Ellmann was born in Illinois and moved to England as a teenager. She lives in Edinburgh. Her debut novel, Sweet Desserts, won the Guardian Fiction Prize.

For readers who've powered through long 'realist' novels before, like Infinite Jest or Anna Kareninas, Ducks, Newburyport still presents something genuinely different. The meandering length itself seems to be part of the book's whole point.

There's nothing quite like settling into a patio or porch when the weather finally cooperates. It's that moment when you can sit outside comfortably for more than 20 minutes without chasing shade or swatting at the air. It's the little moments that make it perfection, whether you're quietly reading a few pages, catching up with a friend, or sipping something cold while the sun dips low. Having even a small outdoor space to call your own can feel like a luxury.

But if your setup is more "cozy corner" than sprawling backyard, making it functional can be a bit of a puzzle. Full-sized patio furniture isn't always realistic, and overcrowding the space kind of defeats the purpose of relaxing in the first place. That's where foldable or space-saving pieces really shine. They give you the flexibility to create a comfortable spot when you need it, and tuck everything away when you don't.

This Beloved ‘80s Classic Is Officially Getting a Third Film

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:02pm

During Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, it was announced that everyone’s favorite aviator is back for Top Gun 3.

Tom Cruise will be reprising his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, the skilled naval aviator and pilot in 1986’s Top Gun and 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. Jerry Bruckheimer is also back to produce the film.

View this post on Instagram

Top Gun 3 officially in development with a script underway, reuniting Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer,” Josh Greenstein, Paramount film co-head, said on Thursday.

Jay Ellis, who played Reuben “Payback” Fitch in Top Gun: Maverick, hinted to US Weekly last year that Top Gun’s third film was in the works.

“So here’s what the story’s going to be. It’s going to be payback. No, no [I’m kidding],” Ellis jokingly said during the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards. “In all honesty, they’re still working on the script. They’re still working on the story. They’re wanting to get it right.”

Ellis told US Weekly that Top Gun 3 would need to enhance the story lines already established in the first films.

“[It’s also about] really making sure that this story is not done just to make a movie, but made because these characters are going to make people lean in,” Ellis said.

According to Variety, Top Gun: Maverick became the highest-grossing movie of Cruise’s career at $1.49 billion. Fans couldn’t get enough of the sequel, which won one Oscar for Best Sound and was nominated for six Academy Awards.

A director and release date for Top Gun 3 have not been announced yet. Stay tuned for more details to come.

'My Memory Started to Fade As He Drove Me to the Hospital,' Says Woman Who Swore She ‘Just’ had COVID

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 1:00pm

In March 2021, the world was still very much reeling from the pandemic. We were slowly clawing our way back to normalcy, but the fear and uncertainty around the disease and its seemingly endless possible symptoms made it the scapegoat for many illnesses that befell people.

Kyle Donahue, a mom of two, thought her extreme exhaustion was just that. She had just finished a ski trip with her son and felt no different while on the mountain. She drove her younger son home from Vermont and headed to bed. Yet, she still woke up extremely exhausted. She stayed in bed—which was quite uncharacteristic for her—so her husband, Jim, made an appointment at a COVID clinic for the following morning. But by then, Kyle realized she couldn't even get out of bed. Jim noticed she was struggling to get dressed, so he switched from the clinic to the ER.

"My memory started to fade as he drove me, and by the time we got to the hospital, I didn’t remember anything," Kyle tells Parade. "I don’t remember the next 6–8 weeks, but from what they’ve told me, none of us (Jim, James, and William) were in good shape! I had no idea what was going on, and my family was worried about my diagnosis."

A Devastating Diagnosis

Courtesy of Kyle Donahue

Kyle's CT scan revealed that she needed to have fluid drained from her brain. She was told she couldn't remember the year or the president, so her team knew something was very wrong. After she was flown to Boston for the surgery for an external drain, they performed a biopsy. The result was a glioblastoma.

"Patients can have a variety of symptoms based on the location of the tumor in the brain," explains her neurosurgeon, Dr. E. Antonio Chiocca, Chair of Brigham's Department of Neurosurgery. "They could present with seizures, headaches, and/or neurologic deficits such as loss of speech or memory, weakness, or confusion. In Kyle’s case, the location of her tumor led to severe confusion and almost a comatose-like state."

For those not in the know, a glioblastoma is an aggressive type of brain cancer that begins in astrocytes, which support nerve cells. It is the most common malignant brain tumor in adults, but it most often forms in older adults. Currently, there is no cure.

A Hopeful Treatment

Courtesy of Kyle Donahue

However, neither Kyle nor her doctors were ready to throw in the towel. After some speed bumps in approaching how to remove the tumors, Kyle's doctor suggested an innovative clinical trial of CAN-3110 (linoserpaturev).

"It involves an intratumoral injection of the biologic agent," explains Dr. Chiocca. "We perform this in the operating room, but the procedure is so well tolerated that most patients go home the next day or even the same day. We now perform it under local anesthesia with sedation."

Kyle began the trial in February 2022, and for the past 5 years, she has only received positive reports.

Related: Woman Thought She Was Just Tired From Her Hectic Schedule, but Secretly, Her Kidneys Were Failing

"I continue to progress and can feel myself getting back to my pre-cancer self," Kyle says. "Now, I refer to time as BC (before cancer) and AC (after cancer). The clinical trial is definitely working—my blood work is back to normal, my MRIs continue to look good, and I can do many of the activities that I did before the glioblastoma diagnosis. Really, one of the only things I cannot do is ski. If you offered me a choice of skiing or living, I’d have to take living! Jim and I take lots of walks along the coast and through the cranberry bogs in our South Shore town, so that makes up for the skiing!"

Now, Kyle has also immersed herself in the world of art, following her doctor's recommendation to find a hobby she enjoys while she recovers. It became a true passion, and she began selling her paintings to donate the proceeds to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund.

While it is great news that the tumors shrank and the trial seems to be working, Dr. Chiocca says they must remain vigilant.

"Is there a prognosis beyond now, or is this a really rare case? A 5-year survival rate is so rare that we don’t really have a lot of good data to know the answer."

For now, Kyle is seeing it as a huge win.

"I want people to see hope in my story… for themselves, and for family and friends," Kyle says. "Keep smiling, believe in yourself, and trust the care and treatment you receive. Hopefully, other people and your health will follow."e of gratitude.” Keep smiling, believe in yourself, and trust the care and treatment you receive.
