Queen Elizabeth 100th Birthday Celebration Marked By Rare Royal Moment

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 7:24am

The royal family marked the 100th birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth by gathering for a rare royal moment.

According to Town & Country, all the current working senior royals were photographed together, marking the milestone occasion. The last time the family were photographed as a group was during King Charles' coronation in 2023.

Included in the image were Princess Alexandria, the Duke of Kent, Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, Kate Middleton, Prince William, King Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

Missing from the photograph was Princess Anne's husband, Sir Timothy Laurence. He is not a senior working royal, therefore he was not included in the image shared to the royal family's Instagram account.

Also not included in the photograph are Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle. Although Harry is still included in the royal line of succession, he and Meghan stepped back from their royal roles in 2020.

Additionally, the queen's son, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his wife, Sarah Ferguson, were noticeably absent. So were their daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Royal watchers shared their thoughts about the historic event. They posted their remarks in the comments section of the royal family's Instagram post.

One follower wrote, "Lovely photo. I wonder why Prince Michael of Kent and his wife were not present? I know they retired from public life and were not fully working royals but they represented the crown in the past, and Prince Michael was first cousin of the late Queen."

"Wonderful, just such a shame the late queens other grandchildren aren’t included. Celebrating her majesty’s memory should not be consigned purely to working royals," claimed a second Instagram user.

A third social media follower penned, "Where is the rest of the family? The Queen always celebrated with ALL her family. Family is family unconditionally."

"I am happy to see the family reunited; it is a larger family than those present in the photo, and the Queen dedicated herself to them all while fulfilling her role with an unwavering sense of duty. She was incredible," summarized a fourth royal watcher.

Queen Elizabeth turned 100 years old on April 21. The monarch died on September 8, 2022.

The Real Reason Sydney Sweeney’s Big Scene Was Cut From 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 7:20am

Sydney Sweeney has been officially cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2. Sources at Entertainment Weekly confirm the Euphoria star filmed a three-minute sequence playing herself, only for the footage to end up in the digital trash bin.

In the original script, we found Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton running the show at Dior. Sweeney was meant to be her high-maintenance client. Picture the racks of couture and the buzz of a celebrity fitting. It was supposed to be our introduction to Emily’s new life of power. But when the producers looked at the final cut, the pacing lagged. The three-minute bit felt like a detour. So, they hit delete.

Disney and Sweeney’s people haven't made an official comment. The word is the production team liked the star's work, but didn’t want to sacrifice the film’s overall rhythm.

The sequel finds Anne Hathaway's Andy Sachs back in the orbit of the devil herself. Meryl Streep's boss from hell, editor Miranda Priestly is staring down a media world that doesn't care about print anymore. The magazine is bleeding cash. It’s messy. Andy and Nigel have to beg Emily to leave her throne at Dior to help them fix the wreckage.

Sweeney is everywhere right now. Between the new season of Euphoria and the American Eagle "great jeans" drama, she’s one of the internet's favorite subjects. "I was honestly surprised by the reaction," Sweeney said previously. "I did it because I love the jeans and love the brand. I don't support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign. Many have assigned motives and labels to me that just aren't true."

The film has plenty of star power: Lady Gaga is still in. She’s got a cameo and a new track called "Runway" featuring Doechii. The original gang is back too, Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman are reprising their roles from the 2006 hit. But don't expect Adrian Grenier, he didn't get the call to return to his role as Sach's boyfriend.

And the new blood? It’s a crowded house:

The film hits theaters May 1. Sweeney might be missing from the Dior offices, but the devil doesn't wait for anyone. Least of all an A-lister’s cameo. That’s all.

Director Reveals How the Destroyed Razor Crest Is Back in 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 7:16am

The return of the Razor Crest in The Mandalorian & Grogu has puzzled fans ever since the ship appeared in early footage and merchandising. After all, Din Djarin’s original gunship was obliterated in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, seemingly ending its story for good.

Now, director Jon Favreau has given a clear answer, and it’s simpler than many theories suggested.

The Razor Crest in the upcoming film isn’t the same ship brought back from destruction. It’s a different vessel of the same model, part of an arrested Imperial warlord's collection that was confiscated.

Even though it uses the original sets, Favreau says the intent is that the Imperial modded it out, stripped it down, and essentially turned it into a hot rod, something that has always been at the center of Star Wars creator George Lucas' heart.

The Razor Crest was always reflection of Din’s life on the fringes, just as much a home as a ship. Reintroducing it as a 'new'' ship preserves that identity while allowing the story to move forward without undoing the emotional weight of its destruction.

It also opens the door for something else entirely, a redesigned version of a fan-favorite icon.

Behind the scenes, Favreau and his collaborators approached the Razor Crest and other elements in the film in as practical way as was reasonable. Instead of relying solely on digital effects, the production built detailed miniatures and full-scale sets to preserve the Star Wars universe's lived-in feel.

Related: 5 'Mandalorian' Episodes to Binge Before the New 'Star Wars' Movie Drops

That commitment to practical filmmaking extends across the project. Physical models are still being used for certain shots, sometimes scanned into digital environments to preserve their texture and scale. In some cases, the team has even incorporated stop-motion animation from legendary effects artist Phil Tippett, using techniques that helped define the original trilogy.

The result is a blend of old and new that mirrors the Razor Crest itself. Just as the ship returns in a different form, the filmmaking combines modern technology with time-tested methods that audiences recognize and love.

For longtime fans, that may be the real story. The Razor Crest is back, but not by rewriting the past. Instead, The Mandalorian & Grogu uses its return to reinforce something Star Wars has always understood: the future works best when it’s built on what came before.

Top 5 'Fancy' Disney Spots That Will Make You Forget You're at a Theme Park

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 7:10am

Walt Disney World is synonymous with fantasy, fun and Dole whip. But it also happens to be an unexpected food hotbed for the discerning diner. Many are surprised to learn that the “most magical place on Earth” is also home to Michelin-star dining, award-winning food festivals and applauded sommelier-led wine programs.

I’ve been visiting Disney Parks for over 30 years, clocking in over 500 visits and along the way dining at hundreds of its restaurants. I’m so serious about my theme park eats that I’m penning an entire book about it (The Unofficial Disney Parks Retro Cookbook/HarperCollins Fall 2026).

And during my tenure as an aspiring theme-park dining scholar, I’ve discovered what I like to call the finer side of magic: fancy spots to enjoy while in the house of the mouse. Here, we’re trading our Mickey ears for fanciful attire and foie gras. Whether you’re on a romantic vacation or doing an adults-only trip, here are the top five fancy spots at Walt Disney World (and one deserving honorable mention.)

View this post on Instagram Victoria & Albert’s

For the true Mickey white-glove treatment, the ultimate Walt Disney World bucket list is Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It proudly holds the distinction of being the first American theme park restaurant to earn a Michelin star. You won’t believe you’re within ear shot of Cinderella Castle as you indulge in a multi-hour, multi-course tasting menu. Think: A5 wagyu, fresh seafood, attentive service and even a personal velvet tuffet to hold your purse. The AAA Five Diamond award-winning restaurant also has a water sommelier, 500-bottle wine collection, and even a zero-proof cocktail pairing option. It’s worth the small mortgage payment you’ll have to fork over for at least once in your lifetime.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World

I’ve stayed at every Walt Disney World resort hotel and dozens of properties nearby. And still, there’s simply nothing like the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World located within the ultra-exclusive Golden Oak neighborhood.

Oozing luxury, hotel guests are treated to a remarkable oasis with incredible on-site dining, including the Michelin-star awarded Capa with stunning rooftop firework views, and a standout adults-only pool. Some rooms even have an in-room wine dispense. You’ll truly feel like you’re living in Fantasyland when your private chauffeur shuttles you to Magic Kingdom Park.

Club 33

Any Disney fan has likely heard of Club 33, the ultra-exclusive, members-only club located in each of Walt Disney World’s four theme parks. While I can’t indulge how I’ve been (and no photos or videos can be taken inside), I’ve been to each and can attest they live up to the hype surrounding—and then some. Each are uniquely themed, and my favorite remains Magic Kingdom’s version with a you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea-themed Lounge. If you can score an invite, you’ll truly be living happily ever after.

Monsieur Paul

Michelin may have only recently come a-knocking to Walt Disney World, but various culinary pursuits have been paving the way for decades. Located at Epcot, Monsieur Paul has some serious culinary pedigree. And you might ask yourself, how did one of America’s most significant French restaurants end up at Disney? Opened by acclaimed French chef Paul Bocuse, Monsieur Paul flies largely under the radar because it's located inside of a theme park. With an impressive wine program and carefully curated chef's tasting menu, the Walt Disney World restaurant would be loudly applauded if it was in the likes of New York, Los Angeles or Chicago.

Here, you won't find Mickey Mouse or DOLE whip, but impeccable French architecture and snapper en Ă©cailles—the dish that first landed Chef Bocuse on the culinary map and was part of his success in being the only chef to keep three Michelin stars for over five decades. First opened in 1984, it remains one of the most significant French restaurants in American history, introducing the palate to Bocuse's pioneering nouvelle cuisine.

There are many incredible bars and lounges across Walt Disney World, and it might surprise visitors to learn that one of the country’s premier tequila bars gives new meaning to the "most magical place on Earth." It’s widely known for it incredible cocktail program (try the avocadomargarita) and its impressive selection of tequila. Fostering strong relationships with various makers, they’re on the pulse of what’s exciting in the world of tequila. And for the ultimate theme park activity splurge, the La Cava Experience is a private, guided journey into tequila. Call it ‘edutainment.’ During this small group class led by a tequila expert, you’ll learn about the different types of tequila while tasting your way through premium pours.

And promise me you’ll order the bone-marrow crusted filet mignon with irresistible four-cheese macaroni.

These Popular Retirement States Are at the Greatest Risk for Natural Disaster Insurance Hikes

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 7:08am

It's no secret that some states seem more prone to natural disasters than others. And while homeowners' insurance can help protect your property from expensive damages caused by things like wind or wildfires, that added layer of financial help comes at a cost. A cost which some experts say is likely to increase over the years, as the price to rebuild continues to increase.

So, which states are most likely to see an increase in the cost of homeowners' insurance? I spoke with some pros to find out what they thought, and what kind of hike you can expect to see when it happens.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

California

According to Brandi Richard Thompson, founder of Operation Prepare and former Federal Emergency Management Official, California is among those states with the highest disaster risk exposure. "Wildfire is the most costly and rapidly escalating threat," she says. "The state has experienced five of its ten most destructive wildfires in the last decade, with rebuilding costs in the billions."

2025's Palisades and Eaton fires alone caused an estimated $30 billion or more in insured losses, according to Richard Thompson, who notes that earthquake risk also remains ever-present, though insurers price that through separate policies.

Related: These Are the 3 Worst-Ranked Florida Cities to Retire In

Florida

Florida is almost synonymous with hurricanes at this point, which Richard Estrella, VP of Operations at Estrella Insurance, says earns it a spot on this list. Although hurricanes alone aren't the only things likely to prompt a rate hike for folks living in The Sunshine State, Estrella says tornadoes, windstorms, and flooding remain major risks.

While he can't say exactly how much insurance could go up, he says residents in the state could expect small increases, depending on how legislative changes from 2023 pan out. "A severe storm season will likely drive increases, while a mild season could lead to stabilization or even slight decreases," he says, noting that Florida homeowners have experienced increases of more than 50 percent in recent years. "There should be a gradual and steady correction over time, assuming no major catastrophic events."

Texas

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and it appears that saying applies to rate hikes as well. "This state faces the broadest hazard diversity in the country," according to Richard Thompson, who highlights hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, tornado activity across North and Central Texas, severe flooding statewide, and increasingly destructive winter storms. "The 2021 freeze demonstrated how a single event can overwhelm infrastructure and trigger massive claims."

Louisiana

The state was ravaged by Katrina back in 2005, and that seemed to kick off a string of devastating storms that caused insurance companies to revisit just how much it costs to purchase homeowners' insurance in the state.

"Repeated hurricane landfalls have caused multiple private insurers to exit the state market entirely, pushing more homeowners onto the state's insurer of last resort," Richard Thompson says. "Hurricanes Laura (2020), Ida (2021), and ongoing flood exposure have created a compounding coverage crisis."

Related: This State Was Just Named the Worst Place To Retire in the U.S.

Colorado

While the state of Colorado may not be one that springs to mind when it comes to natural disasters, Richard Thompson says that it's no stranger to destruction. "Front Range communities face growing wildfire and hail exposure," she says. "The Marshall Fire (2021) destroyed over 1,000 structures in suburban Louisville and Superior, demonstrating that wildfire risk is no longer limited to rural or mountainous areas."

Not only that, Richard Thompson says Colorado's severe hail events also generate billions in annual insured losses, highlighting the many different disasters the state can face in a single year.

How Can You Prepare for Insurance Rate Hikes

While it may feel like an insurance increase is almost inevitable, given the destruction many of these states see each year, Richard Thompson says homeowners aren't without recourse and that the conversation about insurance costs cannot be separated from the conversation about preparedness.

"The homeowners who fare best, both financially and emotionally, after a disaster are the ones who prepared before the event," she says. According to her, that means:

  • Having a current home inventory
  • Understanding your coverage gaps
  • Investing in mitigation options

"The insurance market is telling us through pricing that risk is rising," she continues. "Homeowners who listen to that signal and act on it will be in a far stronger position than those who wait for the next disaster to reveal what they did not know about their policy."

Who was voted off in the last episode of Survivor 50?Chrissy Hofbeck

Chrissy Hofbeck has been itching to rewrite her Survivor story. The Season 35 runner-up felt her game was actively hampered by a last-minute twist and her lack of social connections with her cast. And, after facing a cancer scare, she was ready to prove she had the skills necessary to win the game, and truly prove what a "survivor" means in more ways than one.

Unfortunately, like many people this season, Chrissy found herself falling into old habits, despite being almost a decade removed from Survivor. Her command around camp and compulsory "mothering" her tribe wore thin early on, making her an initial target. Luckily, Chrissy did not attend Tribal Council in the premerge, and by the time the merge hit, she had found solidarity among the old-schoolers. And, with a tepid numbers advantage at the Final 13, Chrissy was feeling good about her chances of going deep again.

That all got thrown out, however, when Chrissy wound up paired with Coach for this week's twist. It was fitting, in a way, a fun culmination of the unique relationship they had on the island. He told her at the swap, in no uncertain terms, to calm down, and that she would have gone home if they went to Tribal Council. She was now urging him to do the same, grounding him in the hammock to avoid getting into more trouble. Unfortunately for Chrissy, the die had been cast. The appeal of getting rid of her and Coach in one fell swoop was too tantalizing to resist. And so, yet again, Chrissy's chance at the win was ended due to a last-minute, never-before-seen twist.

Benjamin "Coach" Wade

The vibes were immaculate on Benjamin "Coach" Wade going into Survivor 50. Old-school players were looking to play with a man who staked his game on honor and integrity. New era players salivated at the idea of interacting with the "Dragon Slayer." And Coach himself proclaimed himself a changed man, someone who was finally ready to play to win. And he immediately proved himself wrong within hours of the game.

Sent to "Fight for Supplies" on Exile Island, Coach immediately mended fences with his old nemesis Ozzy Lusth. But, minutes later, he reopened that wound, spilling more bad blood out when he seemingly snaked the key away from Ozzy's clutches. When word began spreading of Coach's underhanded deed, he loudly proclaimed on the mat that they would be experiencing the same old Coach they were used to — feathers, warts and all. And, for what it's worth, Coach seemed to be in a fantastic position the rest of the premerge. Despite his over-the-top nature, he seemed to make genuine connections with people, making him the surprising social hub going into the merge.

Coach knew the best way to move forward in the individual game was to keep a low profile, especially early on. But it's clear from watching him play over 100 days that that's not who he is at his core. He was feeling as short with Dee Valladares as the haikus he was writing, and decided to lead the charge to go after her. The only problem was, while he fashioned himself the "general," the others weren't entirely happy being his troops. So it was no surprise, after running around the beach like a madman the previous day, his name was in many people's mouths come the next vote. As much as Coach tried to ground himself (literally), his game lived and died in the hammock. He had incidentally conducted his own swan song, taking him and Chrissy out of the game.

28 Years Ago, This Female Country Star Took Over the ACM Awards

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 6:11am

28 years ago today on April 22, 1998, Trisha Yearwood reached another milestone in her already celebrated career, winning Top Female Vocalist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

By the late '90s, Yearwood, 61, had firmly established herself as one of country music’s most powerful and consistent voices. Known for her emotional delivery and genre-crossing appeal, the win recognized a run of success that included hits like "How Do I Live" and "Perfect Love," as well as her growing influence beyond traditional country.

A Night Full of Country Music Heavyweights

Yearwood wasn’t the only star honored that night. George Strait took home Top Male Vocalist of the Year, further cementing his legacy as one of the genre’s most enduring figures. Meanwhile, Brooks & Dunn were named Top Vocal Duo or Group, continuing their dominance throughout the decade.

Rising talent also had a moment in the spotlight, with Kenny Chesney winning Top New Male Vocalist of the Year—an early sign of the massive career he would go on to build.

One of the night’s biggest highlights came from Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, whose duet "It’s Your Love" earned both Song of the Year and Country Music Video of the Year, capturing the attention of fans across genres.

A Defining Era for Country Music

The 1998 ceremony reflected a moment when country music was expanding its reach, blending traditional sounds with crossover appeal. Artists like Yearwood were at the center of that evolution, balancing heartfelt storytelling with mainstream success.

As a longtime visitor to Walt Disney World, I’ve stayed at every one of its immersively themed resorts. And soon, visitors to the mouse's house will have a new resort to call home. Disney Vacation Club has revealed a first look and details about the brand-new Disney Lakeshore Lodge coming to Walt Disney World Summer 2027. The waterfront retreat will be themed to natural beauty and weave inspiration from beloved Disney animated stories inspired by the great outdoors, including Brother Bear, Pocahontas and Bambi.

Connecting imagination with nature, this feels especially poignant as Walt Disney himself was profoundly inspired by nature. These elements will be subtly woven throughout seamlessly into the ambience, art and architecture.

Embracing its location and lush surrounding landscape, the resort will feature jaw-dropping expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Once the sun sets, its prime location along Bay Lake will offer unprecedented views of the fireworks soaring over Magic Kingdom Park.

"We're excited to share our vision for Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a place where the magic of Disney storytelling comes alive through the beauty of the natural world," shared Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Vacation Club. In total, there will be 967 purposefully built accommodations with varying styles for families of all kinds, ranging from studios to multi-bedroom villas, and designed with earthy color palettes and warm natural materials. Guests can also expect upscale amenities and various dining venues that will be revealed soon. Design elements throughout will pair Disney’s mastery in storytelling with the spirit of nature.

'60s TV Icon, 94, Appeared on ‘I Love Lucy’ 69 Years Ago Today—One of Her First Hollywood Roles

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 6:04am

On this day in 1957, Barbara Eden stole the show on I Love Lucy. The actress was just 24 years old when she appeared in a guest role in the episode “Country Club Dance”, which aired April 22, 1957, on CBS.

The I Love Lucy role was one of Eden’s earliest credited acting gigs. Eight years later, she’d go on to star in the NBCsitcomI Dream of Jeannie opposite Larry Hagman. The popular series aired for five seasons and made Eden a star.

On I Love Lucy, Eden played Diana Jordan, a blonde beauty who steals the attention of Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz), Fred Mertz (William Frawley), and Ralph Ramsey (Frank Nelson) at a country club dance, much to their wives’ annoyance.

Speaking with the Television Academy Foundation, Eden, who is now 94, looked back on the role on the iconic 1950s comedy series.

“I was the country cousin who came to visit,” she shared. “It was about a dance at the country club, and none of the men wanted to dance, you know, all the wives were sitting there, ‘Let's dance, let's dance’ until cousin, whatever her name was, came in and said, ‘Hi, you know. And here I was in that dress.
I came to sit down, and someone asked me to dance, and then they all stood up and wanted to ask me to dance.”

“It was one of those things, and of course I danced with Desi, and that gave Lucy lots of fodder, you know, to make her faces and look upset,” she added. “And it was fun.”

Barbara Eden said Lucille Ball was ‘wonderful’ to work with

Eden also opened up about her I Love Lucy role during a fan appearance in 2022, according to People magazine.

The actress noted that I Love Lucy was her third job in Hollywood. And while she was careful to stay away from Ball’s husband– “I knew Desi was a playboy, so I knew I had to be careful there,” she said—she totally hit it off with the comedy queen.

"[Lucy] was in her dressing room and she's like, 'Barbara, come here, come here,’” Eden recalled. “And I'm like, 'Oh my God. It's going to start. Here it is.' She said, 'Do you like that dress?' And I said, 'I love it. It's fine, it's fine, everything's wonderful.’ She said, 'Take it off.' So I take it off. Do you know that Lucy and her assistant sat there and put those shiny things [rhinestones] on that dress? They punched them in. But it was to make the dress look better.”

RELATED: Lucille Ball’s Favorite ‘I Love Lucy’ Episode Was a 1956 Classic

Eden also revealed that Ball liked her so much that she wanted to sign her for her production company. “The last day on the set, Lucy had wanted to put me under contract because she thought I had good comedy timing,” the actress told the Television Academy Foundation. “I was very excited about it, but I had done the test at Fox, and they had an option. So the very day of shooting on Lucy, I found out that they had picked up my option at Fox.”

“Of course, I was in awe,”  she added of her experience on I Love Lucy. “I was absolutely just all eyes, you know, just all eyes, but the most wonderful thing was Lucy. She was so good to me, so good to me.”

Nearly 70 years later, Eden still thinks of Ball's kindness. In a 2022 post to Instagram, Eden shared a photo from the I Love Lucy set with the caption, “Thinking back to the time I appeared on #ilovelucy as Diana Jordan in the ‘Country Club Dance’  episode. Lucy was such a wonderful woman, light years ahead of her time. I will never forget her kindness and generosity.“

Before He Was a Solo Star, This Country Legend Stepped in for Brian Wilson

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 5:58am

Born April 22, 1936—90 years ago today—in Pike County, Arkansas, Glen Campbell would go on to become one of the most recognizable voices in country and pop music. But before his string of solo hits, he had an unexpected role in one of the biggest bands of the 1960s.

In 1964 and 1965, Campbell stepped in as a touring member of The Beach Boys, filling in for Brian Wilson, who had stepped back from live performances due to health struggles. At the time, Campbell was already a sought-after session guitarist, but few could have predicted just how big his own career would become.

From Behind-the-Scenes Musician to Chart-Topping Star

Before stepping into the spotlight, Campbell built a reputation as one of the music industry’s most reliable studio musicians. His guitar work can be heard on classics like "Strangers in the Night" by Frank Sinatra, "You’ve Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" by The Righteous Brothers, and "I'm a Believer" by The Monkees—a resume that quietly shaped the sound of an era!

By the late 1960s, he had fully stepped into his own spotlight, scoring hits like "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," and "Rhinestone Cowboy." His smooth voice and crossover appeal helped bridge country and pop, making him a household name.

A Lasting Legacy Beyond the Stage

Campbell’s career extended far beyond music charts. He became a television host and actor, bringing his easy charm into living rooms across America. In later years, his life took a more difficult turn when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, eventually entering long-term care in 2014.

He died on August 8, 2017, in Nashville at age 81. However, his music and the unexpected chapters of his career, continue to resonate—a wonderful reminder that sometimes the biggest stars begin just offstage.

1977 Dave Mason Classic That Defined His Solo Career Still Reigns as His Biggest Hit

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 5:48am

Following the passing of Traffic co-founder Dave Mason, attention turns back to the 1977 smash that defined his solo career and became his biggest chart success.

"We Just Disagree" was Mason's biggest solo hit. The late ’70s classic became a defining moment in his career, showcasing his signature blend of soulful vocals and easygoing rock sound.

The song, featured on Mason's LP Let it Flow, peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also reached No. 19 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.

"We Just Disagree" was written by Jim Krueger, a guitarist in Mason’s band. In an interview with Arizona Central, Mason shared details about the song's creation and impact.

Mason said, "Jim Krueger, my guitar player, wrote it. He said, 'I've got this song. I think it would be great for you.' He played it, and I was like, 'Yeah, that's a great song.' That was it."

"I did it because it was a great song and it worked within the context of how I write, which is I try to write about timeless themes so that the songs don't become dated. Whether it was gonna be a hit or not, I had no idea."

He added that the song, "only got to the Top 20. I don't think it really was that big a hit. I've never had a No. 1 record or any big hit records even in all those years in the '70s when I was playing Madison Square Garden. I always had albums that did well."

The song tells the story of two lovers trying to make sense of the end of their relationship. The subjects try to understand how their love affair went from the heights of romance to its bitter end.

His publicist shared a statement about Mason's death with Rolling Stone. “On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason. He lived a remarkable life devoted to the music and people he loved.”

On Instagram, a message regarding Mason's passing read, "On Sunday, April 19, after cooking an amazing dinner with his beloved wife Winifred, he sat down to take a nap with sweet Star (the Maltese) at his feet. He passed away peacefully, in his favorite chair, surrounded by the beautiful Carson Valley that he loved so much."

Mason retired from performing in the fall of 2025. An announcement about his decision was made on his Instagram page. "Dave Mason has officially announced his retirement from touring, closing the curtain on 60 remarkable years of rock n’ roll and marking the end of a significant era in music history. He cites ongoing health challenges as the reason behind this difficult decision."

Dave Mason was a founding member of the rock group Traffic from 1967 to 1968. Following, he backed up music icons such as the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Fleetwood Mac, and George Harrison.

1965 Classic Featured in Beloved Film Was a No. 1 Hit 41 Years Ago Today

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 5:48am

Forty-one years ago today,The Beatleslanded at No. 1 on the UK singles chart with their hit song "Ticket to Ride." The song, featured in their film Help!, became the group’s seventh UK No. 1, further cementing their status as a global sensation at the height of Beatlemania.

Released in 1965, "Ticket to Ride" was written primarily by John Lennon andPaul McCartney and showcased a more mature, layered sound for the band. The track stood out for its distinctive guitar riff, heavier rhythm, and emotional depth—elements that signaled a shift in the band’s evolving musical direction.

How "Ticket to Ride" Marked a Turning Point for The Beatles

At the time "Ticket to Ride" was released, Beatlemania was in full bloom, and the band was already a worldwide cultural phenomenon. Each new chart-topping hit reinforced their influence, but "Ticket to Ride" was more than just another No. 1 single. It represented a turning point, as The Beatles began moving away from their early pop sound toward the more experimental style that would define their later work.

Featured in Help!, the song also highlighted how seamlessly The Beatles blended music and film during the 1960s. They were among the first artists to use visual storytelling as a way to deepen fan connection, a strategy that would later be embraced by artists like Taylor Swift,Beyoncé, U2, and Lady Gaga.

Why "Ticket to Ride" Still Resonates Decades Later

Decades later, "Ticket to Ride" remains one of the most recognizable songs in The Beatles’ catalog. Widely regarded by critics as a bridge between their early pop era and their more complex, innovative sound, the track marked a significant step forward in studio production. It was one of the first Beatles songs built in the studio rather than performed live, featuring more intricate arrangements and production techniques.

"Ticket to Ride" is often considered a precursor to heavier rock styles and helped extend The Beatles’ run of chart dominance. Reaching No. 1 on this day, the song continues to stand as a defining moment in music history, symbolizing a shift in the band’s sound and paving the way for some of their most groundbreaking work.

1976 Classic Hit Became a Feel-Good Anthem That Defined a Generation

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 5:29am

If you’re looking for a song to instantly lift your mood, the answer is "Dancing Queen" by ABBA every single time. "Dancing Queen"—complete with its cascading piano start, the angelic vocal harmonies of singers Agnetha FĂ€ltskog and Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad, its rising melody, and that steady disco beat—is legit feel-good anthem, which is still widely played today.

“Dancing Queen” was released by the Swedish pop group on August 16, 1976, during peak '70s-era, disco times. It was the lead single from ABBA's fourth studio album, Arrival. The song became a worldwide hit, topping the charts in the UK and the United States. In December 1976, the song debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and then it hit No. 1 on April 9, 1977. The disco-pop anthem stayed at the top for a whopping 22 weeks, helping define a generation.

Since then, the joyful, shimmering song has become timeless pop hit that exudes happiness wherever it is played. Today, it's massively recognizable and beloved across generations, likely because the lyrics tap into that nostalgia for an era of being "young and sweet, only 17." Also, you simply can't resist dancing to it. It's basically unstoppable.

In July 2023, "Dancing Queen" reached 1 billion streams on Spotify, according to ABBA's Instagram. To date, ABBA's 1976 hit song now has over 1.96 billion streams on the audio streaming service.

The iconic disco song continues to be played on dance floors and at wedding receptions and parties. In fact, “Dancing Queen” was recently found to be the second “most popular wedding song of all time,” based on a study conducted by Breezit, an AI-based online marketplace for searching wedding venues and vendors. In its analysis of 2,000 wedding-related playlists, ABBA’s hit song showed up on 19.7% of them.

Big then, still explosive now—that's what makes a classic. And if it's also one of the happiest songs ever written, that's everything.

If You’ve Been Waiting to Book Your First Disney Cruise, This New Deal Is Your Sign

Wed, 04/22/2026 - 5:10am

Let’s be honest: Disney Cruise Line is the gold standard for family vacations, but it usually comes with a "gold standard" price tag. If you’ve been hovering over the "book now" button but couldn’t justify the four-figure-per-person cost, the game just changed.

Starting today, Disney has launched its "Together at Sea" offer, which slashes 50% off kids’ fares for select sailings between October 2026 and March 2027. This isn’t just a minor coupon; it’s a massive logistical shift that makes the high-end Wish class ships significantly more affordable during the prime winter and spring break seasons.

Related: Disney World Fans Are Calling This New Summer 2026 Deal ‘Life Changing’

How Much Can You Actually Save?

To understand why this is a big deal, you have to look at how Disney normally prices their staterooms. Typically, the first two guests in a room pay full freight, and additional guests (kids) pay a "reduced" rate. This new deal cuts that already-reduced rate in half.

For a family of four eyeing a 3-night Bahamian escape on the Disney Wish or the brand-new Disney Destiny, the savings can be the difference between a "someday" trip and a "this year" trip:

  • The Old Math: A typical 3-night sailing for two adults and two kids in a Verandah stateroom could easily hover around $5,500.
  • The New Math: By cutting the kids' portion in half, that same room could drop closer to $4,300–$4,500.
  • The "Pro" Takeaway: You’re essentially saving enough to cover your airfare to Florida or your entire "extra" budget for Port Adventures at Lookout Cay.

Related: Disney Just Dropped a $99-Per-Night Summer Hotel Deal That’s Too Good to Miss

The Booking Window

The most important thing to note is the timing. This deal is valid for bookings made by June 14, 2026, for sailings departing between October 2026 and March 2027.

This covers the two best "value" windows in cruising: the fall "Halloween on the High Seas" sailings (think: spooky character meet-and-greets and themed deck parties) and the early winter "Very Merrytime" cruises. If you’ve wanted to see the ship decked out for the holidays without the peak-December price tag, this is your opening.

What’s Included (and What’s New)

The reason Disney's "50% off" hits harder than other lines is the sheer amount of "free" stuff you get once you're on board. Unlike many "budget" lines where you pay for character meet-and-greets or kids' clubs, on a Disney ship, the Oceaneer Club, the Walt Disney Theatre shows (like the new Hercules production on the Destiny), and the first-run movies are all included.

Plus, if you're sailing in 2026, keep an eye out for Bluey and Bingo, who are officially joining the fleet. They’ll be on the Disney Dream now and hitting the Disney Wish starting in June 2026—making it the ultimate "status symbol" vacation for the toddler and preschool set.
