“Come a Little Closer” was a classic rock song from Jay and the Americans. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release in 1964, making it the band’s highest-charting single. More recently, it was featured in The Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 during an iconic arrow scene. It was also used during Gilmore Girls and Ray Donovan.

When speaking about the creation of the song in an interview with Carl Wiser, Kenny Vance, who was a founding member of the band, said, “This was recorded in the last, probably five minutes of a session where we were trying to record something else that we spent the whole session on. In those days, the session ran for three hours, I think the musicians got $65 for a three-hour session. They didn’t want to go overtime, and they had recorded this one song, and they needed a flipside, and they said OK, boom, let’s do it. And we recorded it, and that’s it.”

Jay and the Americans achieved great success since starting in 1959. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2002. They even opened for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones during their first American tours.

When speaking about opening for The Beatles with Boca Magazine, Vance said, “When we got there, I was shocked to discover that The Beatles actually knew who we were. We had had hit records in England, and they were friends with the Ronettes, and we were friends with the Ronettes, and they had told them about us. They were young kids as I was a young kid, and there was a certain camaraderie—'I’m in a group, you’re in a group.’ There wasn’t a big separation in those days. We were contemporaries of theirs, and they accepted us as that.”

Jay and the Americans released over 10 albums. Some other notable songs from the band include “She Cried” and “Cara Mia.” They also performed a popular cover of “This Magic Moment,” which was originally by The Drifters.

Despite their success, Jay and the Americans officially parted ways in 1973.

An ’80s rock legend is opening up about a major health milestone as he prepares to return to the stage. Jon Bon Jovi, the frontman of Bon Jovi, opened up about his recovery in a new interview with People magazine, revealing he is now "fully recovered" following vocal cord surgery.

"I’d often joked and said the only thing that’s ever been up my nose was my finger. I never did anything to hurt the cords; I didn’t have any excesses. I’m a trained vocalist. I’ve practiced the craft,” Bon Jovi told the outlet. “So when a doctor had to explain to me that one of the cords was literally atrophying, it was confusing."

Following surgery and plenty of physical therapy that included exercising his voice, Bon Jovi is ready to get back out there.

"I’m fully recovered. It was longer than I’d ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith," he said.

Big changes are coming to Dinamita, a popular Doritos spinoff.

The rolled tortilla chip-style snack is known for its bold flavor variations, high crunch factor and vibrant spices, but some of its brand offerings are about to look a whole lot different as the PepsiCo Foods brand embraces a "simply naked" version of the snack.

The food and beverage giant has been on quite the health-focused kick lately, offering a new protein-packed version of Doritos, launching its first original prebiotic soft drink, not to mention last year's acquisition of the cult-favorite "better-for-you" soda brand, Poppi. Now, following the "disruptive" November 2025 debut of Simply NKD Doritos and Cheetos comes the new Doritos Dinamita Simply NKD Chile Limón.

Doritos Dinamita to Join the New Simply NKD Chip Line

As the line's name implies, the new Simply NKD Dinamita takes the iconic rolled chip that fans know and love for its "layered heat-filled flavor experience," and strips it of all artificial dyes and flavors.

According to the brand, this particular variation is the same as the original Dinamita of the same name and balances "zesty lime with a spicy kick" for the "perfect combo of chili and citrus" without the finger-staining added colors. It was not immediately clear what the company is using in place of artificial dyes or flavors (if anything) or if the Simply NKD category would grow to include other Dinamita flavors.

Aside from the lack of artificial additives, the only other difference between the first-ever Simply NKD Dinamita and the original chips is the packaging, which swaps the classic neon hues for a plainer look with high visual contrast.

More than four decades after helping bring professional wrestling into the pop culture mainstream, Cyndi Lauper is receiving a unique new honor.

Mattel Creations has announced a new WWE Elite 3-Pack that will feature the first-ever WWE action figure inspired by the 72-year-old music icon. The collectible set is scheduled to debut as an exclusive release at San Diego Comic-Con and celebrates one of the most memorable celebrity crossovers in wrestling history.

The set includes figures of Lauper alongside wrestling legends Roddy Piper and Captain Lou Albano, paying tribute to WWE's groundbreaking "Rock 'N' Wrestling" era of the 1980s.

For many fans, Lauper's connection to wrestling may be surprising today, but she played a major role in helping expand the sport's reach during one of its most transformative periods.

At the height of her music career, Lauper became involved in a series of storylines that blended the worlds of MTV, music, and professional wrestling. Her appearances alongside Captain Lou Albano and other wrestling personalities helped introduce WWE to a broader mainstream audience at a time when celebrity crossovers were still relatively rare.

Former Pima County SWAT commander Bob Krygier is raising a new point about the Nancy Guthrie investigation, saying one nearby location should “absolutely” be considered by investigators.

While talking with NewsNation journalist Brian Entin, Krygier was asked about the Tohono O'odham Nation Reservation that's near Guthrie's home.

"It's massive. It's right there between Tucson and Mexico. When I drove to Mexico, you drive through it. And it borders Mexico. Do you think that that should be part of the investigation when it comes to Nancy Guthrie?" Entin asked.

"Absolutely it should be," Krygier replied. "It's huge. There's a lot of...most of it is just the desert. ... There is an open border on the reservation."

Krygier said that part of the reservation runs into Mexico and that there are plenty of "options" to get over the border in both directions. He also noted that while the relationship between the reservation and the local authorities is "good," deputies typically do not patrol the reservation because they do not have the federal enforcement powers to fully operate there.

Krygier did not suggest the reservation is connected to Guthrie’s disappearance, but said its location and access routes make it an area worth considering.

The conversation between Entin and Krygier comes as a volunteer group in Mexico says it received an anonymous tip about Guthrie's remains being buried in an unmarked grave near the border. Though the area specified isn't part of the reservation, Entin was curious about the area and whether or not authorities should be including it in their investigation into Guthrie's disappearance. It's unclear if the reservation has been part of the investigation thus far.

Meanwhile, the volunteer group—Buscando Corazones Nogales—has been searching the area mentioned in the anonymous tip but hasn't found anything noteworthy.

Guthrie has been missing since Feb. 1. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Tucson’s 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

A recent study shows some concerning statistics about what Americans are eating.

What The Study Found

Americans have been feeling the pinch of this economy for almost two years now, with the last year being particularly bad. In fact, according to an Advance America survey, fruit and veggie prices have risen 6.1% from April 2025 to April 2026. 

This drastic increase in produce prices has left many Americans feeling that fresh food is beyond their financial reach. Some other statistics from the Advance America study show:

• 51% of respondents say their diet is less healthy than 2–3 years ago
• 48% are eating more processed foods because they're cheaper
• 34% are buying fewer fruits and vegetables per trip
• 28% say healthy eating isn’t financially realistic for them
• Families are spending an average of $13 more/month on produce

What Families Are Doing

A recent NPR report shows that nearly half of American families say they can’t afford basic necessities, including fresh, nutritious food. Another CDC report states that only 1 in 10 eat their recommended fruits and vegetables. 

Many families have switched to less expensive frozen and canned produce to help make up the difference. It is worth noting that frozen and canned fruits and veggies are as nutritious as their fresh counterparts, but the loss of options weighs heavily on consumers.

The Emotional Toll

Advance America revealed that 40% of respondents felt frustrated by recent prices, while 25% felt angry about the current situation. This isn’t an isolated finding; it's a national conversation about the state of the country. The states hit hardest by these prices are North Dakota, Idaho, Arkansas, Georgia, and New Jersey, but the data show that every state has seen price increases. 

For the U.S. consumer, Laura McCutcheon’s quote from the published study could ring especially true. 

"Fresh fruit and vegetables should feel like basic groceries, not premium add-ons. When parents are skipping produce for themselves to keep buying it for their kids, that tells you everything about the kind of quiet sacrifices families are making right now," said McCutcheon in a statement.

What You Can Do

First and foremost, calling your state representative to make them aware of the financial hardships you’re facing is a good start. While we assume that our representatives know our struggles, the more people who report issues to them, the more likely they are to make those issues a priority. 

As far as purchasing food right now, here are three tips to take with you to the grocery store:

• Lean into frozen and canned produce. It’s still as nutritious but may be more affordable. Cans, especially, are shelf-stable and able to last a while if food prices continue to rise. 
• Using the EWG's Clean Fifteen list to identify lower-pesticide produce that tends to be more affordable. When in doubt, clean produce with a mix of water and white vinegar to help remove harmful substances. 
• Utilize a local food bank in your area (and don’t feel bad about it; the more people use them, the more funding they get).

For so many years, the cornerstone of the American family has been sitting down to a meal around the dinner table. Broccoli may not have been considered a luxury at our family tables when we were kids, and it shouldn’t be now.

Henry Winkler, 80, played Arthur Fonzarelli from 1974 to 1984 on Happy Days. During that time, many fans had a crush on his legendary character—including some famous icons. Recently, Winkler spoke about one notable woman who admitted to having a crush on him.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, “He recalled, during an appearance at the Banff World Media Festival, how he’d been a guest on the podcast IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson and being told the former first lady had had a crush on his Fonzie character.”

“I met her,” Winkler said. “I was in awe. … She puts you at ease immediately. She is completely present. Her brother was warm and lovely. They had a conversation like sister and brother. I was honored.”

During the podcast, which occurred in December 2025, the former First Lady said, "Let me tell you who The Fonz was, at least to me. First of all, sexy.”

She continued, "Now what did I know about sexy at... I can't do the math, but I was young... preteen. I saw on the screen the coolest... You read tall!" She went on, "You read 6'3. Think an even cooler version of John Travolta, before John Travolta. Thick, black, luscious Italian hair. Who knew?"

Obama also spoke about a big change that was made in the show, when the Fonz changed from wearing a khaki jacket to putting on a leather jacket for the first time. She added, "I remember that change because I think it did something to me. I was like, 'Woo!'”

Winkler is now hosting and executive producing the series, Hazardous History With Henry Winkler, on the History Channel. The show, which discusses hazardous toys and household items that used to be common in the past, is in its second season.

“In this day of age, to be picked up for 30 episodes is an amazement,” he told TheHollywood Reporter.

Winkler is also the author of several books, including his memoir, Being Henry, The Fonz… And Beyond. “I was on the New York Times bestseller list for 11 weeks,” he said. “I was shocked as I had no idea how it would be received.”

Godsmack has made another major lineup change during its 2026 tour, bringing in former Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini after the sudden departure of drummer Wade Murff.

The veteran rock band introduced Mangini behind the drum kit during a June 12 performance at Morton Amphitheater in Riverside, Missouri, marking his first live appearance with the group on the ongoing “The Rise Of Rock” tour. The show featured Godsmack alongside Stone Temple Pilots and Dorothy.

Mangini joined guitarist and vocalist Sully Erna, bassist Robbie Merrill and guitarist Sam Koltun, who became a full-time member of the band earlier this year.

Following his debut performance, Mangini shared his thoughts on social media, revealing that he stepped into the role with virtually no preparation time.

“Taking this all in today with show 1 done,” Mangini wrote.

“And just like that, I finally get to play these dream venues in the USA with my Boston brothers in GODSMACK. I need to thank a lot of people for putting this together so quickly. I can't even express how grateful I am to Sully, Robbie, Sam and the entire organization for trusting me with no rehearsal. My gear companies performed nothing short of a miracle and my family, friends & fans never stopped praying for and supporting me. Thank you.”

The move comes as Godsmack continues navigating a period of significant personnel changes following the exits of longtime guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin in 2025.

Mangini’s arrival follows Wade Murff’s brief tenure with the band. Murff joined Godsmack earlier this year and performed more than a dozen shows between May and early June. 

His final appearance with the group came shortly before news emerged that he would fill in for Black Veil Brides drummer Christian “CC” Coma during the remainder of that band’s 2026 European tour.

Neither Godsmack nor Murff has publicly addressed the reason behind the sudden lineup adjustment.

The band's tour continues across North America before heading overseas for a European festival run later this summer.

Earlier this year, Sully Erna expressed confidence in the band's revamped lineup, including both Murff and guitarist Sam Koltun.

“Sam's on board now full-time, and he's gonna be the new player from this point forward. And the drummer that we chose, his name is Wade Murff. He's worked with DAUGHTRY and some other acts. A fairly under-the-radar kind of guy. A strong player. A great dude. Really good with attention to details, as Sam is.”

Mangini arrives with decades of experience in the rock and metal world. He spent 13 years as the drummer for Dream Theater after winning a highly publicized audition process in 2010. Before that, he built a reputation through performances with Extreme, Steve Vai, Annihilator, and numerous other projects.

After departing Dream Theater in 2023 following the return of original drummer Mike Portnoy, Mangini launched several new musical ventures, including the band Monolith and his solo album, Invisible Signs.

Now, the accomplished drummer finds himself on one of the year's biggest hard rock tours, helping guide Godsmack through its latest era.

As The Rise Of Rock tour continues, fans will get their first extended look at how Mangini fits into the band's evolving lineup and what the next chapter of Godsmack may sound like on stage.

The Evolution of Hilary Duff’s Musical Career

While Duff’s first musical release was a Christmas album in 2002 (‘Santa Claus Lane'), she soon followed with ‘Metamorphosis.’ The 2003 album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned the artist four-times Platinum status. Reality TV fans know the record’s breakout hit ‘Come Clean’ as the title track for the opening credits of MTV’s Laguna Beach.

She followed the chart-topper with 2004’s self-titled album ‘Hilary Duff,’ 2005’s ‘Most Wanted,’ and 2007’s ‘Dignity.’

After taking a brief break, Duff returned to the music scene, releasing 2015’s ‘Breath In. Breathe Out.’ 

Fast-forward 11 years, and she’s back at it again. Rolling Stone recently ranked her latest endeavor as one of the best new albums of the year (that is, so far), calling it “the sparkly synth-pop surprise we didn’t know we needed so badly.” 

Rolling Stone’s review of ‘Luck….Or Something’ continued, “The record, made with her husband Matthew Koma, offers a realistic and vulnerable glimpse at where her life is now — many years after Lizzie McGuire, ‘Come Clean,’ and that ‘With Love’ dance that became viral in the TikTok era.”

The mom-of-four (she shares 14-year-old Luca Cruz Comrie with ex-husband Mike Comrie and seven-year-old Banks Violet Bair, five-year-old Mae James Bair, and two-year-old Townes Meadow Bair with husband Matthew Koma) opened up about her return to the music spotlight, sharing withVariety in 2025, “I never wanted to jump the gun and do something that didn’t totally feel right.” 

The former child star also said of her comeback, “People have been following my career and having a connection, and I think I was just really ready to reintroduce myself to them.” 

While the rock band R.E.M. is iconic and well-known now, at the beginning of the 1980s, the group was just starting and hoping to make it big. Formed in 1980, the members quickly got to working on music together, and by 1981, they released one of their defining songs, "Radio Free Europe."

But the story of how the song came to be is an interesting one. The band members, Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe, were all attending the University of Georgia when they bonded over their love of music. Soon enough, they were performing and quickly gaining fans and attention.

"Radio Free Europe" was one of the band's few songs on a demo cassette they put together. While vocalist Stipe impressed his band members with the lyrics and melodies of the track, it turns out that the lyrics weren't actually finished when they recorded the song.

Stipe said in a 1983 interview with Alternative America, via Rocking in the Norselands, "Those earlier songs were incredibly fundamental, real simple, songs that you could write in five minutes. Most of them didn’t have any words. I just got up and howled and hollered a lot." In a later interview, he went even further, calling it "complete babbling."

Thankfully, the incoherent singing clearly worked in Stipe's favor. In the same interview with Alternative America, Stipe noted that R.E.M. planned to re-record "Radio Free Europe" and said, "I’ve got to write words for ‘Radio Free Europe,’ because we’re going to re-record that for the album. It still doesn’t have a second or third verse. I think there are actually lyrics to every song on the EP.”

Music fans didn't seem to mind the mumbled singing, and "Radio Free Europe" was a major hit. The song helped the band sign with I.R.S. Records, and they re-released the track on their debut album, Murmur, in 1983.

It was the first single from the band to make it to music charts. "Radio Free Europe" peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 25 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

In the 1960s, Bill Mumy was a prolific child actor, appearing in everything from Bewitched to Perry Mason to The Munsters before landing a main role as Will Robinson in the sci-fi series Lost in Space.

But by the late 1970s, Mumy set his sights on a career in music, becoming one half of Barnes & Barnes, the musical duo behind one of the weirdest novelty songs ever: “Fish Heads.”

Penned by Mumy and his friend Robert Haimer, “Fish Heads” featured nonsensical, high-pitched lyrics about “roly poly fish heads.” The quirky 1978  song was a staple on the syndicated Dr. Demento radio show, and the accompanying music video was directed by Bill Paxton. Rolling Stoneonce ranked “Fish Heads” at No. 57 on its list of the top 100 music videos of all time.

In a June 2026 interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Mumy, 72, revealed that because his parents wisely invested his money from his years as a child actor, he was financially free to pursue his passion for music as he got older. His childhood fame also opened a lot of doors for him, including the opportunity to record “Fish Heads.”

“You never know what's going to click with the audience, right?” Mumy said in the CBS interview. "I mean, you can have 300 songs that are very soulful and perhaps melodically interesting, and it's ‘Fish Heads’ that resonates and becomes locked in the id of society for 40 years.”

Mumy clarified that he was grateful for the success of the novelty song. “‘Fish Heads’ has been very, very good to me,”  he shared. “’Fish Heads’ has been very good. You know, it's been on The Simpsons. It's been a bunch of commercials. It's been in a lot of films. 'Fish Heads' has definitely bought a few guitars."

Mumy credited his late music partner Haimer for coming up with the “roily poly fish heads” line during a lunch outing.

“We had just been jamming. He's playing piano, I'm playing guitar, and we're making up funny songs because we both liked ‘50s horror comic books and the Three Stooges and that kind of stuff. And it's just a release of excess energy,” he said. “And we went out to lunch, a restaurant on Pico Boulevard in West LA…  and got a fish dish and it came with the fish head on the plate kind of coiled up and giving you a little stare back before you got your knife out. And he said, 'Roly poly fish heads. Let's eat them up. Yum.’"

"So he basically came up with that chorus, and it's a very primitive nursery rhyme kind of a melody," Mumy continued. "It doesn't go a lot of places. It's like three chords that just keep repeating themselves. And so we went up into my recording studio, and at the time it was just a little four-track recording studio, and I sat down and I wrote all those verses out.”

 Mumy previously told The Television Academy Foundation that Barnes & Barnes began as "a little secret release of excess energy” between him and Haimer.

“Barnes & Barnes was just a little something Robert and I would do at our houses with our little two-track machines originally, as like you know, goofy stuff, teenage kind of stuff,” he said. “We started it when we were 16, and it was never really meant to be shared. But over the years we wrote and recorded a lot of goofy little songs.”

“Robert was a huge fan of the Dr. Demento radio show…so he was like, ‘I'm going to send in a couple of these Barnes & Barnes songs, let's pick a couple of them and do them right,’” Mumy recalled. “So we cut a few, ‘Fish Heads’ was one of them, we sent it into Dr. Demento, and honestly, you know it is the most popular song in the history of his radio show. It became an immediate hit.”

Mumy also revealed that it was his idea to do “the Chipmunk chorus vocals,” and that he had to fight Haimer “tooth and nail” on that one.

The Lost in Space alum also noted that all credit for the music video went to Paxton, who was completely enthusiastic about the project.

“[He would] not take no for an answer, took his own money, flew to New York, he said to us, ‘I'm gonna get ‘Fish Heads’ on Saturday Night Live,” Mumy revealed. “And I thought, well that's not going to happen. …And sure enough, it ran two weeks in a row, they ran it twice, not a rerun but in two different episodes. And it ended up being entered into a lot of film festivals and it got garnished a lot of attention, and to this day we make a surprisingly good amount of money off ‘Fish Heads.’”

In total, the ride is obliterating six distinct world records on day one, immediately establishing itself as a global destination for thrill-seekers looking to test their nerve against the laws of physics.

The experience starts by carrying riders an astonishing 309 feet into the air, offering a sweeping, panoramic view of the entire metroplex. But you won't have long to admire the skyline. For anyone who grew up watching Corey Feldman sprint through the woods in Stand by Me or charge through the Goonies' caves, Monday's news was quite a shock. The 54-year-old actor was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a medical emergency aboard a flight from Chicago to LAX, met at the gate by paramedics and transported by ambulance for evaluation and treatment. By Tuesday, the scare had a name: a severe case of food poisoning.

Feldman's publicist confirmed to USA Today that he 'is doing much better and is now out of the hospital,' and that doctors had ruled out the more serious possibilities. Initial reports from TMZ, citing a source close to Feldman, noted that a physician who happened to be traveling on the same flight examined him mid-air and recommended paramedics meet the plane upon landing, suspecting the cause might be pancreatitis or gallstones. Tests cleared both. 'Corey wants to thank everyone for all of the love and well wishes,' his publicist said. 'He has definitely seen a lot of the messages and really appreciates everything.'

In an X post late Monday evening, Feldman told fans the experience was 'def scary' but that all signs pointed toward recovery. The flight home had followed what should have been a celebratory weekend: Feldman had been in the Midwest as part of the Stand by Me 40th anniversary tour, appearing alongside costars Jerry O'Connell and Wil Wheaton at The Chicago Theatre on June 14. The live tour, which had run for months across the country, combined a big-screen screening of the 1986 classic with a live, moderated reunion conversation among the surviving cast. It carried added weight this year asdirector Rob Reiner, who died in December 2025, had been involved in early anniversary plans with the trio before his passing.

Before heading to Chicago, Feldman made a personal detour, posting to Instagram that he had stopped at Michael Jackson's childhood home in Gary, Indiana, to pay his respects to the late singer, a reflection of the bond between the two that Feldman has written about at length in his 2013 memoir Coreyography.

Feldman is already looking ahead. His publicist says he is set to release a new single, 'What Am I Here 4,' on June 22, and has two birthday performances scheduled in Southern California for July 25 and 26. For a performer who has spent much of his adult life navigating adversity in public, including the loss of longtime collaborator Corey Haim and years of advocacy around his own experiences of abuse as a child actor, the ability to step back onstage less than two weeks after a hospitalization feels characteristic of the resilience he's shown over the years.

The feat occurred in 2013 at the tail end of Strait's 60th birthday. His record label, MCA Nashville, pushed for the event in a unique marketing campaign titled 60 for 60.

According to his official website, "His music career spans more than 30 years; includes 60 No. 1 singles, more than any other artist in any genre; and boasts 33 platinum or multi-platinum-selling albums, more than any country artist and third across all genres behind only The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Strait is the only act in history to have a Top 10 hit every year for over three decades and has sold more than 70 million albums and earned more than 60 major entertainment industry awards."

However, his most popular song is "Amarillo by Morning" according to a 2020 Rolling Stone Readers Poll. The music publication writes, "'Amarillo by Morning' has been a rodeo-circuit hit since 1973, when Terry Stafford wrote and recorded the original version following an all-night drive from one rodeo stop to another. But it took Strait to do the definitive version of this ode to the troubadour lifestyle, which recounts broken bones and loves lost by a journeyman cowboy who owns nothing but the clothes on his back."

Strait debuted in 1981 with "Unwound." He charted his first No. 1 just one year later with the song "Fool Hearted Memory."
