A 2026 Indeed Flex press release shows that retirees are taking a different approach to the end of their careers. And while many people are enjoying their downtime, one in three people surveyed said that they would consider returning to work in a temporary or flexible capacity. But it wasn't just financial pressure driving that decision, according to the survey findings, 52 percent said they missed the social interactions they got at work.

If you're missing the connections you once had at work, but aren't ready to head back into the office, it could be time to consider finding a "third place" to spend time. Psychologists say this is the missing piece for many retirees who are longing for social connections once they leave the workforce. And, according to the experts we spoke with, it is easy enough to find once you know what to look for.

What is a Third Place?

The phrase "third place" is a sociological one that was coined by Ray Oldenburg in the 1989 book The Great Good Place, and it is used to refer to a place that is not your home (first place) or work (second place, but for younger people, this can also be school). "Historically, they've included places of worship as well as community centers such as the YMCA or in the more distant past, community squares where people gather," Dr. Stephanie Freitag, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, and Founder of New Gen Psychology, says.

These are the places where community happens naturally, Dr. Katherine Loflin, Founder of The City Doctor, explains. "They provide opportunities for social interaction, personal growth, and a sense of belonging without requiring a formal invitation," she says, adding that more importantly, they provide a place where you can "develop meaningful emotional connections" to the people and community in the space, without actually having to know everyone personally.

Some examples of third places include:

• Coffee shop
• Local park
• Library
• Volunteer organization
• Community gathering space

However, in your neighborhood, these places could look different and may include churches, pickleball courts, or other gathering places.

Why Retirees Need a Third Place More Than Anyone

From a research perspective, Dr. Loflin says third places help satisfy one of humanity's most fundamental needs: social belonging. "Research consistently shows that people thrive when they feel connected, valued, and part of a community," she continues. "Third places provide the repeated experiences and interactions that foster those feelings, making them essential not only for social well-being but also for overall quality of life."

But these places are essential for more than just adults over 60. "Third places are not just important to retirees but to society as a whole," Dr. Freitag adds. "We need places to congregate to build social connections that aren't tied to work/education."

How to Find Your Perfect Third Place

If you don't already have a third place in mind, Dr. Freitag says you should start by looking at places you already frequent or that have an emotional connection for you. She says it could look like finding something that connects to your hobbies, artistic interests, or a leisurely activity you love. "I encourage people to go to this space on a regular basis because a one-off experience will not yield deeper social connections or a sense of community," she says, adding that you should try out a venue multiple times before deciding whether it's the right fit for you.

And don't expect to commit to one place right away, either. Matt Grammer, LPCC-S, a mental health professional and the founder of Therapy Trainings, says you should give yourself plenty of flexibility as you check out potential spots. "Curiosity over commitment is a great rule to follow," he says. "So, take a look at lots of different choices, attend an event many times, and be aware of the places you have to try to contain excitement and the places that energize you."

"In my work studying place attachment, I've found that people connect to places through a variety of pathways, including relationships, memories, experiences, identity, and personal goals," Dr. Loflin adds. "A retiree who loves history may find deep fulfillment volunteering at a historic site, while someone who values wellness may find that same sense of connection through a walking group, fitness class, or local trail."

As for when you should start looking, Grammer says the sooner, the better. "The social transition of retirement can be abrupt, and people can underestimate that," he says. "I tell my clients to begin their searches during the last year or two of their work so they have the connections to social sticks they need when they retire."

How to Know You've Found the Right One

Dr. Loflin offers this quick guide to determine whether a third place is right for you, saying that the right place will share these characteristics:

• You feel welcomed and accepted
• The place is easy to visit regularly
• It encourages interaction over isolation
• Participants share common experiences, interests, or values
• It offers opportunities to contribute, serve others, or learn
• It's easy to recognize other people who frequent the space over time
• You leave feeling fulfilled, energized, and connected

"I generally encourage retirees to explore several options before deciding what fits best," Dr. Loflin concludes. "Finding a third place is much like finding a favorite restaurant or neighborhood—you may need to experience a few before discovering where you truly belong."

Of course, since there’s limited availability and plenty of demand for the patriotic release, getting your hands on one might be a little trickier than expected (though hopefully, not as crazy as when Starbucks dropped the glass Bearista cup).

How to Get the Eagle Cup From Dunkin’

The already-viral and limited edition Eagle Cup will be available at participating Dunkin’ locations for one day only—on June 29th.

And if you've ever tried to get something limited, you know what you have to do! As they say, the early bird gets the worm, so waking up early and getting in line to snag one is going to be crucial, as they will only be available while supplies last. Reports indicate there will be roughly 20 cups per store.

As with the previously released Barbie cup, customers can purchase it for $10.99, which comes with a free medium beverage, served separately.

There will also reportedly be a code inside the cup that can be used for $3 Medium Dunkin’ Zero drinks
 or $3 Medium Refreshers.

You can call your local Dunkin' ahead of time to see if they are participating and will carry the cup.

Dunkin' released its summer 2026 menu that includes sweet sips and brand-new treats, along with a patriotic offering that pairs perfectly with the Eagle cup—the Rocket Pop Classic Donut.

Costco shopper @costcojacque just spotted Three Dots cotton-blend shorts in stores and online, and many fans say they're surprisingly good for the price. The shorts come in rust, brown and black and are available in sizes XS–XL.

The shorts also feature two pockets, which is always a bonus in my book. They have lightweight fabric, a stretchy waistband and a super comfortable fit. Some shoppers even recommend sizing down.

Back in 1981, pop culture was defined by the wedding of Princess Diana, the launch of MTV, and songs that 45 years later still get stuck in our heads. One such song was the hit single "Jessie's Girl" from Australian rock superstar, Rick Springfield. The global chart topper would go on to win Springfield his only Grammy award in 1982.

Recently, Springfield took to the stage in Indiana on tour with Sammy Hagar and performed the career-defining hit. The performance, which took place on June 14th, shocked fans in the best way possible.

Springfield shot to stardom in the 1980s with his music career, and became synonymous with power pop rock anthems. In addition to his music career, Springfield has also found plenty of success on both the big and the small screens. America’s Got Talent finds some of its best talent internationally and such was the case with the dance troupe Come Here that flew in from South Korea to audition for judges Simon Cowell, Mel B,Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara.

Come Here filled the stage with its energy as the 23-member troupe’s dance style is unique in that it’s a combination of several styles of dance rather than just one.

Watching the judges reaction during the performance, it appears that Come Here will receive an enthusiastic four yeses from the judges, but will it be enough to get them through to the live shows? Only 44 acts make it through and 10 of those slots are filled by the Golden Buzzers.

To date, Simon gave his Golden Buzzer to singer Lai Noelle, host Terry Crewsused his first one for the dance/dog act Acro Canine Crew, Howie awarded both of his to rapper Luke Taleno and the magic act Hundred Fingers, and Sofia used hers for singer Lara D. Mel B has yet to make a commitment.

Naturally, Aldi shoppers collectively lost their minds when the retailer first introduced an ultra-affordable reformer-inspired machine in its famed Aldi Finds aisle. It's the kind of item that has people speed-walking through the automatic doors the second the store opens. And now the Crane Fitness Reformer Board is back for $39.99.

This season's Aldi reformer board is the same one it sold back in September 2025. It's foldable, which makes the board really easy to store, and comes with two resistance bands you can plug in for standing work, as well as built-in elbow pads on rails for those targeted core exercises.

Since this isn't Aldi's first rodeo with a reformer board, there are plenty of reviews online to help current shoppers decide whether it's worth scooping up when it hits stores on Wednesday, June 17.

"I got the one from last year," says a member of the Aldi Aisle of Shame Community Facebook Group. "I like it. The paddles are spring loaded so they have some resistance but nothing too crazy. Easy to use for someone just starting to workout and only using body weight."

What I will say is that one of my favorite sections of any Pilates class is footwork, which you can't do with this reformer board because, well, there isn't a foot bar. There isn't the ability to do feet in straps, either. With that in mind, it's a nifty item to have around when you want to squeeze a workout in without hitting a studio. And there's a lot to be said for that.

The clue: "He's got 12 Oscar nominations & 2 wins & a Henry Mancini Award from ASCAP & in 2018 received the German Order of Merit."

The answer: "Who is Hans Zimmer?"

Remsen went into the FJ round with a massive lead of $28,400 at the end of DJ, compared to Rahman’s and McCleskey’s $1,600 and $6,000, respectively. 

While Rahman was the only one to answer the question correctly, he wagered only $25 for a third-place total of $1,625. 

Remsen’s wager and incorrect answer didn’t matter as much, as he dropped down to $21,800 with the wrong response of “Who is Frankenheimer,” taking his third consecutive win. Meanwhile, McCleskey wagered $2,700, not enough to beat Remsen either way, got it wrong with “Who is John Williams,” and walked away in second place with a final total o $3,300.  

Remsen will be back on Wednesday for attempt number 4.

As Heated Rivalry prepares to film its second season this summer, Deadline announced that François Arnaud from the hockey drama show has joined the cast of Hulu’s upcoming series Count My Lies.

Arnaud has joined the series in a recurring role, playing Danny, the friend of Lindsay Lohan’s character, Violet.

According to Deadline, in Count My Lies, a compulsive liar, Sloane (Shailene Woodley), fibs her way into a nanny position for Violet and Jay Lockhart (Kit Harington). It seems like she’s landed her dream job, “but little does Sloane know, she’s just entered a household brimming with secrets that are about to explode — with potentially catastrophic consequences for all.”

The series is based on a recent novel by Sophie Stava of the same name. It was chosen as the GMA Book Club Pick for March 2025, with Good Morning America calling it “an unputdownable suspense novel about deception, privilege and the price of keeping up appearances.”

The TV show will also feature Sophia Bush, known for her role as Brooke Davis in One Tree Hill. She’ll be playing Allison, a “stylish Tribeca architect and mother,” according to Deadline. Her role was announced in April, and she took to Instagram to share the news.

“New York City with Shailene Woodley, Lindsay Lohan, and Hulu? Why yes, yes I would like a bite of that apple,” Bush posted.

Arnaud also posted about his casting announcement to his Instagram story, simply captioning it with a smiley emoji.

It was recently announced that Heated Rivalry will begin filming this August, with a release date set for spring of 2027. Although it hasn’t been confirmed if Arnaud will return as Scott Hunter in Heated Rivalry, his partner in the show, Robbie G.K., who played Kip Grady, is hoping the two will reprise their roles.

If your blonde has gone from icy and bright to vaguely yellow and sad since your last salon visit, you're not imagining it. Brassiness is one of the most common complaints among color-treated hair clients, and it's also one of the most preventable.

And it’s not your fault! Brassiness isn't a hair failure. It's just chemistry. When hair is lightened, the underlying warm pigments get exposed over time through oxidation, sun exposure, heat styling and even the minerals in your shower water.

The cool, bright tone your colorist worked to achieve starts fading after just a few washes, and without something to counteract it, yellow and orange creep back in. We asked them about how purple shampoo actually works, who needs it and which formulas they'd use themselves.

What Is Purple Shampoo and How Does It Work?

Haygood says that the purple in the shampoo counteracts any yellow tones, canceling out brassy hues and leaving hair more neutral.

Arrojo puts it another way: "Think of it as makeup for your hair color—a quick way to refresh your tone between salon visits." The violet pigments coat the hair shaft during washing and neutralize whatever warmth has crept in since your last color service, leaving blonde hair brighter, silver hair cleaner and gray hair noticeably less yellow.

What it doesn't do is lighten or bleach. Our experts were very clear that purple shampoo simply tones, keeping your color looking fresh between appointments.

Who Should Use Purple Shampoo?

Simply put, more people than are currently using it. Haygood points out that it's not just for blondes—it's fab for silver, gray and even brunette hair with highlights or balayage. Hakim agrees, noting that natural gray hair specifically benefits because it brightens the hair and reduces the yellow discoloration that comes from environmental exposure over time.

Gadegaard says that for anyone with extensions, purple shampoo isn't optional. "Extensions can oxidize and shift warm over time just like natural hair," she explains. "Purple shampoo is not optional. It is maintenance."

How Often Should You Use Purple Shampoo?

Once to three times a week is the consistent recommendation, but the right frequency depends on your specific hair. Hakim advises clients not to overdo it—too much can leave hair looking dull or over-toned, which is a different kind of unflattering. Very platinum or freshly toned hair may only need it once a week. Hair with more warmth or hard water exposure can handle more frequent use.

Gadegaard's advice is to pay attention to what your hair is telling you. "If it starts looking dull or brassy, reach for it," she says. "If it starts looking too ashy or cool, pull back a little." The goal is a neutral, bright tone—not lavender.

Can Purple Shampoo Dry Out Your Hair?

It can, and the experts are upfront about it. Hakim notes that the toning pigments and cleansing agents in many purple shampoos are stronger than in regular formulas, which matters most for already-lightened hair that's naturally more porous and moisture-deprived. Her solution is to always follow with a deeply hydrating conditioner or mask.

Gadegaard recommends rotating a nourishing formula in between toning wash days rather than using purple shampoo every single wash. "It restores softness and shine without weighing the hair down," she says of her Laced Hair Care Moisture Masque, which she uses specifically on purple shampoo days. Choosing a formula with moisturizing ingredients built in is the other fix—and several of the picks below do exactly that.

What Causes Brassiness and Dullness in Blonde Hair?

Brassiness is the warm underlying pigment in hair reasserting itself after color fades. Arrojo breaks it into two distinct issues. Brassiness comes from oxidation—sun exposure, heat styling, hard water, pollution and even regular washing all gradually shift blonde hair toward warmer yellow or orange tones.

Dullness is a different problem, he says, explaining, "When the hair cuticle becomes rough, it reflects less light, causing blonde hair to lose its brightness and shine."

Buildup, surface damage and environmental stress are usually the culprits. Haygood adds that salon toners fade with repeated washing, which is why hair that looked perfect on day one starts shifting toward gold by week three.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell reunited with his former bandmates in Sweet Savage to record two new songs.

Sweet Savage frontman Ray Haller confirmed to Eonmusic at the Download Festival last weekend, where he told reporter Eamon O'Neill that Campbell and the band made new music recently, marking Campbell's first contribution to Sweet Savage since leaving in 1982.

"Universal [wanted] to put out all the old stuff, so we're going to," Haller said. "We've gone through all these tapes and all these recordings from the '80s. Then Viv and I came up with the idea, 'Why don't we do two new ones?' So we recorded two new songs, and they're ready to rock and roll."

The new music will showcase the quality of the group's songwriting and style from the 1980s, which helped establish them as one of the most respected bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. The two new songs were supposed to be released earlier this year, but due to Def Leppard's touring schedule and Campbell's inability to promote the songs, it was pushed back to an early 2027 release instead.

Sweet Savage was formed in 1979 by Campbell, Haller, Trev Fleming and David Bates in Belfast, Ireland. Since its formation, they have released four studio albums and are considered the pioneers of the new wave of British heavy metal movement, alongside Iron Maiden, Saxon, Diamond Head and Def Leppard. After not being able to produce a studio album, Sweet Savage went on a hiatus in 1983, but came back with a different lineup a year later. After multiple changes in the past 50 years, Sweet Savage's current members are Haller, Marty McCloskey and Phil Edgar.

Despite Campbell leaving in 1983, he and Haller remained good friends over the years. After leaving Sweet Savage, Campbell worked with multiple bands and artists, including Dio, Whitesnake, Lou Gramm and the Riverdogs. In April 1992, the Irish guitarist joined Def Leppard to replace Steve Clark, their former guitarist, who passed away in January 1991. Campbell also dabbled in some solo work during the 2000s and early 2010s.

Sweet Savage released their latest album, Bang, which came out on Sept. 12, 2025, via German music label earMusic. Although Campbell's tenure with Sweet Savage was brief, his guitar work on their early recordings became a defining part of their legacy.

"The two new songs are absolutely amazing," Haller said. "It's Viv, and it's the Viv that we know."

On June 16, Joseph Duggar appeared in a Florida courtroom remotely for two motions he filed in May to modify a no-contact order.

The 19 Kids and Counting star is currently facing an underage sexual assault case. He has two charges of lewd and lascivious behavior, and was released from jail on a $600k bond. Duggar was in court to modify the conditions of his pre-trial release.

One of the motions “sought permission for Duggar to perform work at several rental properties he owns, which would place him within 500 feet of his alleged victim,” according to People. The second motion would allow him to see his four children unsupervised. The judge denied both motions.

Duggar asserted that he had been unable to see his children, which the judge took issue with. Duggar is able to see his children with supervision.

According to the first motion, Duggar was attempting to amend the order banning him from visiting “a number of land parcels that he owns due to their proximity to the home where his alleged victim resides with her family,” People reported.

The motion said that the alleged victim and her family have moved. However, this motion was also denied.

Duggar’s sister, Joy-Anna Forsyth, recently opened up about how she’s been doing since her brother’s arrest. On an episode of The Jinger & JeremyPodcast, hosted by her sister Jinger Duggar Vuolo, Forsyth admitted she’s been struggling.

“It’s already impacted my family so much,” Forsyth said. “I feel like the more I talk about it publicly, the more it just gets rubbed in our faces and I want to just move on with life in some ways.”

Duggar’s pre-trial court date is set for July 14. He will head to trial on August 10.

And now, fresh off her juicy turn in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Gellar is set to star alongside Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks) in the upcoming movie Thud, where they’ll respectively play the juicy roles of the Grim Reaper and the Devil, Deadline reports.

The romance story sees the infamous personas meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event where they’ve each come to sow their own chaos, Deadline also noted on Tuesday, June 16.

Gellar's other recent projects include Showtime’s Dexter: Original Sin and a cameo in Sony’s reboot of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise.

Pankow, 28, will next be seen in Hulu’s comedy Never Change!, which is coming off its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival, per Deadline.

Thud will be helmed by Mali Elfman, whose feature directorial debut was the genre-bender Next Exit, which also premiered at Tribeca and was released in theaters in 2022.

Earlier this month, Gellar paid tribute to Anthony Head after the fellow Buffy actor died at age 72. The actress took to Instagram to share a quote from their beloved series, something she had done for both the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg and Nicholas Brendon.

She posted: “Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok” Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok. But I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world.”

While including the line from the show, she added her own words, because quite frankly, she doesn’t “have it figured out.”

The task force investigating Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is aware of a new cybersecurity report examining a rise in targeted crimes, and Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed the information has been flagged for investigators, according to Fox News Digital's Mike Ruiz.

Rumors of a possible “wrench attack” in the Guthrie case have circulated since early in the investigation. The concept refers to situations in which criminals orchestrate a crime and hire others to carry it out.

In these cases, "the victim of the violence is a more vulnerable relative of the person criminals are looking to extort," Ruiz wrote on X.

While there is no official indication that Guthrie’s case involved this type of crime, experts say the report highlights a growing concern in cases involving vulnerable targets.

"The bad guys in these cases and in many types of criminal cases utilize open source information and social media information to find their targets and the targets’ vulnerabilities, the pressure point," Lisa J. Miller, a retired detective and law enforcement executive at the Colorado Attorney General's Office, told Fox News Digital. "News releases from companies describing wealth, social media posts showing off big expenditures, big toys, big homes. Many of us put at least some of our lives out there for everyone to see — and it’s usually the happiest part."

"Nancy Guthrie could have been viewed by someone watching [her Today] segment as a vulnerability—Savannah Guthrie's pressure point," Miller added.

Miller's comments comes on the heels of CertiK—a cyber-security firm—putting out a report that designated Guthrie's abduction as a wrench attack by proxy.

When Fox News Digital asked Sheriff Nanos about the potential relevance of a wrench attack in the Guthrie case, he said he had “flagged it to the investigation team.”

Guthrie, 84, has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1.

In the early ‘80s, Kira Roessler made a name for herself playing bass in Black Flag alongside frontman Henry Rollins and the band’s founder, guitarist Greg Ginn, adding a nimble female touch to the testosterone-fueled rage of the late period lineup of the legendary punk band

After her two years in Black Flag, which ended when the band broke up in 1985, she went on to form Dos, a two-piece band with her now former husband Mike Watt of the Minutemen. Her punk credentials date back to her pre-Black Flag days as a member of Twisted Roots with former Germs and future Nirvana and Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear. While she’s kept a low profile in the music world of late, Roessler has returned to the scene with Enigma, her first album in five years due on July 10, and the preview track, “You Will Feel My Pain,” out now.

The new release marks her first new music since her 2021 return to the scene with her acclaimed debut solo album. Roessler turned 65 on June 12.

"Enigma is the continuation of the narration of my life through song — honest, if over-dramatized statements about what is in those moments," Roessler explained in a statement. "Leaning into the raw feeling of it all. I feel very lucky to be able to share some new music with those who listen."

She also spoke about the first track released from the album, “You Will Feel My Pain,” which examines the moment when inner turmoil can no longer be hidden under wraps over a tasteful jazz-like blend of piano and melodic bass lines.

"What happens when my inner turmoil leaks out to the rest of the world?" Roessler explained. "You will, they all will feel my pain."

In a sense, Enigma is a family affair with her brother and fellow punk legend Paul Roessler of the Screamers and 45 Grave fame co-producing the album with Kira. Also featured on the album is Petra Haden of the band that dog, who provides.

The album also features a lounge music-like take of the Black Flag rager “Drinking and Driving” in which Roessler’s restrained croon replaces Rollins’ fist-in-your-face vocals.

While Roessler has been absent from the music scene, she didn’t abandon the world of entertainment entirely as she has built an impressive career as a sound editor for movies and TV. Her credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Game of Thrones, and Project Hail Mary.

Daughtry is celebrating two decades in the music industry with a special fall tour.

The 2000s rock band, with lead singer and guitarist Chris Daughtry, announced the 20th anniversary tour—with a twist.

Instead of a full-scale production, the tour will take place in smaller, more intimate venues, featuring an unplugged, acoustic set that will put the focus solely on the music and lyrics that fans have come to love over the years.

"The tour will pull the band's music into a more raw and immediate space, where the weight of a lyric, the scrape of a guitar string, and the quiet before a chorus can hit as hard as the full-band impact," a press release reiterated, per ABC Audio.

The tour will begin on Oct. 12 in Troy, N.Y., and span several cities, states and venues, before wrapping up in Dallas, TX, roughly a month later, on Nov. 14.

Fans will be able to score tickets starting this Friday, June 19, at 10 AM local time on the Daughtry website. There will be a chance to get tickets via the presale on Wednesday, June 17, which is also when VIP packages will be available.

The announcement on social media teased, "Get ready for an unforgettable acoustic experience filled with classics, current hits, and a few surprises. This show is going to be different, you don't want to miss it! 🤘"

The tour is being supported by special guest Ryan Perdz.

Daughtry formed in 2006 after the frontman's run on American Idol on Season 5. Despite coming in fourth place, it fueled a post-Idol success story.

The band's debut album was among the fastest-selling rock debuts in Nielsen SoundScan history, producing multiple radio hits, according to BMI.

While they never scored a Hot 100 No. 1 hit, they achieved multiple major mainstream hits, along with several No. 1’s on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock / Adult Pop Rock-style charts, including “Home,” “It’s Not Over,” and “Over You.”

The band’s most recent album release was SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM, which featured two EPs spanning 2024 and 2025.

Todd Chrisley is opening up about the behind-the-scenes work his daughter, Savannah Chrisley, did while he and Julie Chrisley were in prison.

During a new interview on FOX News Media's Hang Out with Sean Hannitypodcast, Todd and Julie praised Savannah's effort to help bring them home after their federal convictions.

But Todd also revealed a private sacrifice he said the family did not fully understand until after he and Julie were released.

Todd Chrisley Says Savannah Paid for Everything Herself

Todd said he and Julie had given Savannah power of attorney over their assets while they were away, giving her access to their money.

According to Todd, they later learned that she had not used it to care for her younger siblings.

"She never used a single dollar of our money to take care of her siblings," Todd said on Hang Out with Sean Hannity.

Todd said they only found out after everything was turned back over to them. He said Savannah had covered those expenses herself.

Savannah Chrisley Kept Fighting for Her Parents

Todd said Savannah worked constantly to advocate for him and Julie, including traveling to Washington, D.C., attending events and trying to make the right connections.

Julie said Savannah carried folders with information and took them wherever she went, hoping to get them in front of anyone who could help.

Todd also said Savannah did not talk to Julie about everything she was doing because she did not want to get her mother's hopes up.

Instead, he said, she would come to him and tell him about her plans.

Todd recalled telling her to pray about it and live her life, but said Savannah remained convinced he would come home.

Todd Says Savannah Spoke Directly With Trump

During the interview, Todd said Savannah eventually met President Donald Trump at an event in Georgia.

According to Todd, Savannah gave Trump what she called her "elevator pitch" and told him about her parents' case.

Todd said Trump listened and told Savannah that if he were reelected, he would look into it.

Trump pardoned the Chrisleys in May 2025 after they had been serving prison sentences tied to their 2022 fraud and tax-evasion convictions. Todd and Julie have maintained their innocence.

The Chrisleys Recalled the Pardon Call

Todd also described the moment he learned he had been pardoned.

He said a correctional officer approached him after he had been in the library and told him he was getting out. Todd said he asked if he could call Savannah, and when he reached her, they were both crying.

Savannah, he said, told him Trump had called her while she was coming out of Sam's Club.

Todd said Savannah came to pick him up, while his sons went to get Julie.

Why Savannah's Role Stands Out

Savannah's advocacy for her parents was already public. She spoke out about their case, sought political support and became one of the most visible voices in the family during Todd and Julie's prison sentences.

According to him, Savannah was not only trying to help secure her parents' release. She was also supporting her siblings without using her parents' money.

For Todd, that made her role in the family's story even bigger than he realized at the time.

It’s a cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet, which is the eating plan with the most scientifically-backed research linked to longevity and a lower risk of heart disease, certain types of cancer and dementia. 

In fact, olive oil is so beneficial for the body that registered dietitians recommend consuming it every single day. Doing so can lead to a cascade of health benefits, including lower cholesterol, greater satiety after meals, better digestion, a lower risk of certain cancers and a lower risk of dementia.

Given its myriad benefits, it’s perhaps not surprising that taking a daily shot of olive oil has become the latest wellness trend among celebrities and health influencers on social media. Hailey Bieber mentioned that she knocks back a daily shot of olive oil in a recent interview with Time magazine. Singer-songwriter Paul Anka, who is 84, has said that he takes a daily shot of olive oil, too. 

There’s no question that olive oil is steeped with health benefits. But are there actual benefits to taking a daily olive oil shot, or is this just another overhyped wellness trend? I decided to interview a doctor about it and try it for myself to find out.

Are There Benefits To Taking a Daily Olive Oil Shot?

Dr. Randolph Martin, MD, FACC, a cardiologist and clinical professor of cardiothoracic surgery for the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, is a big proponent of consuming olive oil regularly. 

He’s seen firsthand how olive oil is front and center in Mediterranean countries and complements an overall healthy lifestyle. “Copious amounts of it are used in cooking vegetables, meats, soups and pasta. A bottle of it is always on the table,” he says.

Dr. Martin emphasizes that it’s extra-virgin olive oil in particular that’s the most beneficial for health because it’s the least processed type of olive oil and the highest quality. “Extra-virgin olive oil is full of monounsaturated fats and a type of antioxidants called polyphenols,” he tells Parade, explaining that both nutrients are beneficial for heart health, brain health and lowering inflammation.

While Dr. Martin says that taking shots of olive oil isn’t harmful, he says that consuming it with food is more beneficial than just knocking it back on its own. He explains that the fats in olive oil make some of the nutrients in other foods better absorbed in the body. For example, leafy greens are high in vitamin A, E and K, which are all fat-soluble. That means if you put olive oil on your salad, the nutrients in the greens will be better absorbed in the body.

Dr. Martin also points out that people who live in Mediterranean countries and naturally follow the Mediterranean diet aren’t drinking shots of olive oil; they’re simply incorporating it into their cooking and meals.

While olive oil tastes good when it’s consumed with food, Dr. Martin says that it can be pretty pungent to have as a shot. “Some people, like Paul Anka, add lemon juice and a little honey to their olive oil shot to make it more palatable,” he explains.

Even though Dr. Martin shares that consuming olive oil as part of a meal is a better way to reap its health benefits than taking a shot, he says that taking a daily shot of olive oil isn’t harmful. “Hey, it’s better than tequila!” he laughs. With that, I began to try the experiment for myself.

My Experience Taking a Shot of Olive Oil Every Day for 2 Weeks

For my two-week-long experiment of knocking back olive oil shots, I used GundryMD polyphenol-rich extra-virgin olive oil, which was sent to me specifically for this experiment. Dr. Steven Gundry, MD, is a former heart surgeon and the author of several books, including The Plant Paradox. 

The olives used to make the GundryMD extra-virgin olive oil are sourced from Morocco. According to the product description, the harsh desert environment triggers a “nutrient surge” that makes the olives particularly high in polyphenols.

I absolutely love olive oil. Give me a plate of bread and a small bowl of olive oil for dipping and I’m set. Because I love olive oil so much, I wasn’t really worried about not liking the taste of an olive oil shot, so for my first shot of the week, I decided to have it straight with no added ingredients.

As soon as the olive oil hit my tongue, I was overwhelmed with its pungent taste. I actually gagged. It definitely tasted different than having olive oil with food. The consistency was so thick that it was hard for me to take it all at once, so I suffered through small sips. I was shocked at how hard it was for me to get down, given how much I love olive oil.

After I eventually finished the whole shot, I settled into the workday. I hadn’t eaten breakfast yet and while I still felt hungry, I wasn’t as ravenous as I typically am in the morning, which I credited to the satiating fats in the olive oil. Other than that, I didn’t feel any different.

The next day, I decided to dilute the olive oil with a little water so that it wouldn’t be as thick. This definitely made the olive oil easier for me to sip, but it was still too pungent for me to take a full shot of it all in one go and still didn’t taste very good. 

On the third day of my experiment, I decided to take Dr. Martin’s advice and mix some fresh lemon juice and a bit of honey into my olive oil shot. Just like the day before, I added some water so it wouldn’t be as thick. Adding the lemon juice and honey definitely made the shot more palatable, though it still didn’t taste good. Now, the shot tasted super tart, which made it hard to swallow for another reason. Still, I got through it.

For the rest of my experiment, I mixed lemon juice, honey and water into my olive oil shot to make it easier to sip on. That really did make it slightly more enjoyable!

The Physical Differences I Noticed From Taking Olive Oil Shots

After taking my daily shot, the only physical difference I would feel is not being as hungry as I typically am in the mornings, similar to how I felt on the first day of the experiment. This wasn’t surprising to me because I knew that the benefits of olive oil come with consuming it regularly and support long-term health in ways that aren’t exactly felt (the way caffeine is, for example), but are nonetheless still beneficial.

I have to say, as much as I love olive oil, I was relieved when my experiment was over and I could go back to integrating olive oil into my meals instead of doing shots of it. After talking with Dr. Martin and trying it myself, this is one wellness trend I believe is more hype than healing. As long as olive oil is your go-to cooking oil or you’re regularly incorporating it into your meals in other ways, there’s no need to do shots of it.

Now that the experiment is over, I plan on leaving shots of olive oil behind me—just like those tequila shots.

Ella Langley has a new furry friend.

The country star shared that over the weekend, she adopted Joan, a rescue puppy from Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Florida. Langley visited the shelter ahead of her headlining performance at Alan Jackson's 5 O'Clock Somewhere Fest in West Palm Beach to spend time with more than 100 beagles that were rescued from a medical testing lab. While visiting, the 27-year-old singer decided to bring one of the puppies home.

Langley shared her experience on her TikTok account, which shows her and her friends petting and playing with the rescue pups.

Langley already has two puppies at home, Crue and Bee. She also serves as the Director of Fundraising for the Pawsitive Rescue Division, a non-profit dog rescue that operates in Tennessee and Connecticut. The organization focuses on rehab, training and personalized adoption placements, ensuring that every dog has the perfect home.

Pawsitive Rescue Division also has a partnership with Big Dog Ranch Rescue, the largest cage-free rescue in the United States. Fellow country singer Miranda Lambert also adopted her dog Bellamy from the same rescue shelter in 2013.

Starting her professional music career in Alabama, where she performed locally around bars and festivals, the "you look like you love me" singer released her debut album, Hungover, in 2024 with Columbia Records and Sony Music Nashville, which became a huge success and shot her into the mainstream. Langley followed it up with Dandelion a year and a half later, which includes the lead single "Choosin' Texas," a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks straight. The second single, "Be Her," hit No. 1 on the country radio charts over the weekend.

With "Choosin' Texas," Langley broke a record previously held by Taylor Swift: the song spent 6 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs. It was also the first song by a woman in country to lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts at the same time.

"Every day I wake up, it's like something more insane has happened," Langley told Billboard. She celebrated the song hitting No. 1 with her team, as well as Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, who co-wrote the tune with Langley. "We loved the song when we wrote it, but none of us thought it would be the song to do everything it's doing. It keeps giving us a reason to celebrate new milestones."
