2015 Black Comedy Was Just Ranked the 'Most Original Movie of the Last 15 Years'
While modern audiences seemingly can't escape remakes, movie-goers still occasionally get treated to unique and daring films. For instance, Colliderrecently shared a ranking of the "10 most original movies of the last 15 years."
The list, published on May 28, featured unusual but acclaimed films like 2022's Barbarian, I Saw the TV Glow from 2024, Get Out, released in 2017, and 2019's Parasite. According to Collider, the 2015 Yorgos Lanthimos-directed film, The Lobster, deserved the title of the most original film that debuted after 2011.
The publication reported that the film utilized frank, unflinching dialogue and images as a way to critique the belief that fulfillment can only be found in romantic relationships.
The Lobster holds a score of 87 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and 82 on Metacritic.
Colin Farrell Discussed the Message of 'The Lobster' in 2015In a 2015 interview with HeyUGuys, The Lobster's star Colin Farrell, who played David, discussed the absurdist film's underlying messages. He explained that Lanthimos and his co-scriptwriter, Efthimis Filippou, didn't seek out to address one specific topic.
"There's no singular message that the filmmakers were trying to put forth. I know that for sure. But different people are coming away with different things. You know, the idea of the pressure, obviously, is one of the obvious ones, that society lives under to pair themselves off into a couple. And you know, the virtues of living alone, and the conflict between those two things," said Farrell in the 2015 interview.
He also said while he "didn't really get any one particular message from" the film, he believes "it's a really beautiful tale."
In addition, Farrell said working on the movie "was an extraordinary experience." He then shared that he wasn't used to the script's "peculiar" material and the way Lanthimos directs.
"The process of making the film, and the lack of rehearsal, and the lack of talking about character and backstory and narrative. There was none of that, and it was all just very immersive in a kind of an unusually clinical way, which was bizarrely pleasing and surprisingly warm for its clinicality," said the actor, who collaborated with Lanthimos again for the 2017 movie Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Iconic '70s Hit, Accused of Plagiarism, Named Biggest No.1 Song of the Era
Fans of The Beatles may be aware of George Harrison's solo career, in which he quickly established himself as a successful artist in his own right. Shortly before and following the iconic group's breakup, the musician released a whopping 12 albums under his own name, with many of them enjoying critical acclaim, even more than five decades later.
In 1970, the Beatles' lead guitarist released All Things Must Pass, his third solo album and the first after the breakup of the legendary Liverpool four-piece. The record featured "My Sweet Lord," a song that has now taken the top spot on Grunge's list as the biggest No. 1 hit of 1970.
The track is arguably Harrison's most famous song after it left him in the middle of a huge music scandal that has gone down in history. In 1971, less than a year after the release of "My Sweet Lord," Harrison was accused of plagiarizing The Chiffons' 1963 song "He's So Fine."
Bright Tunes Music, the owners of "He's So Fine," sued the former member of The Fab Four, and the legal battle was dragged out for decades after his former manager, Allen Klein, purchased Bright Tunes and subsequently became the one to be suing his previous client.
In 1976, the landmark copyright lawsuit found Harrison guilty of copyright infringement and subconscious plagiarism, meaning the court believed he did it unintentionally. He was ordered to pay $1,599,987 of the earnings from the song, per Performing Songwriter,
"It’s difficult to just start writing again after you’ve been through that," the singer told Rolling Stone in a 1979 interview. "Even now when I put the radio on, every tune I hear sounds like something else."
In 1980, John Lennon, Harrison's former bandmate, spoke to Playboy about the court case, sharing his doubts on the ruling of "subconscious plagiarism."
"He must have known, you know," the vocalist said, per Far Out. "He’s smarter than that…He could have changed a couple of bars in that song and nobody could ever have touched him."
Despite the controversies, "My Sweet Lord" climbed to the top of the charts, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in December 1970.

1978 Glam Rock Hit Was Originally a '60s Garage Rock Classic
Before they were the classic rock band known as the Rascals, they were the Young Rascals...and before the pioneering group had their first #1 song with "Good Lovin'" in 1966, they made their debut on the charts with the 1965 single, "I Ain't Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore," a garage rock classic that ended up being a glam rock band's biggest hit over a decade later.
Written by Lori Burton and Pam Sawyer, "I Ain't Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore" was originally intended for a British Invasion-type band, as Burton told the Record Plant Diaries Oral History Project.
“Pam and I agreed to meet with the Rascals and I played ‘I Ain’t Gonna Eat My Heart Out’ on the piano," Burton recalled. "They loved it and they loved ‘Baby Let’s Wait’ too, so we went to A&R Studios and I got Roy [Cicala, Burton's then-husband and production partner] to record them. The Rascals came into A&R after hours and, before you know it, they were laying down tracks for ‘Good Lovin’’ and ‘How Can I Be Sure.’ Roy recorded everything on that first album.”
"I Ain't Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore," was just a modest success for the Young Rascals, peaking at #52 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it established the band as a force to contend with.
Over a decade later, the song returned to the Hot 100 as glam rock band Angel's only top 50 hit. Their cover of the tune, released on the 1978 album White Hot, went to #44 on the chart.
Originally discovered by Gene Simmons of Kiss, Angel wasn't a tremendously successful band from a commercial standpoint, but they amassed a highly loyal following that's still with them today. Though Angel did break up for decades, they reunited in 2018 and have been active ever since.
Reflecting on Angel's longevity, founding member Punky Meadows told Guitar World in 2023, "it's because we love what we're doing."
“A lot of times, you see bands come back, and they’re shadows of themselves," he continued. "Many older bands go through the motions, but that’s not the case with Angel. When we hit the stage, we mean it. We don’t rely on what we’ve done; we focus on improving. It’s not always easy; being on the road is hard; eating and sleeping aren’t always good. But once you hit the stage and the fans are there, you give it your all."

Mackenzie Shirilla Taking Double Murder Conviction to Ohio Supreme Court
Mackenzie Shirilla is asking the Ohio Supreme Court to review her double murder conviction.
According to TMZ, her lawyers filed the appeal paperwork, alleging that "there is medical evidence" that Shirilla “suffered from a pre-existing medical condition that could have caused her to black out while driving.” They also said that her attorney didn't "properly investigate this possibility initially."
Court documents obtained by the outlet showed that the first appeal was rejected because it was filed a day late, which Shirilla's legal team claimed happened because they didn't properly account for the leap year.
"The state supreme court has not yet ruled on whether or not it will hear Mackenzie's case," TMZ writes.
Shirilla was convicted of double murder and was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 15 years to life with eligibility for parole in 2037 after she drove her car into a brick wall, going nearly 100 mph, killing her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend Davion Flanagan.
Her case has received increased attention recently due to the Netflix true crime documentary titled The Crash, which is a about the car crash.
Mackenzie Shirilla Defense Team Said She Suffered From POTS During 2023 TrialIn the Netflix documentary, Shirilla discusses what happened during the crash, saying that it was due to her 2017 diagnosis of POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome), which caused her to "black out."
But during the bench trial, no medical records or expert testimony to confirm the diagnosis were given. Instead, the prosecutors showed that the gas pedal was floored and there was no attempt to use the brakes before the crash.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, POTS is a "is a condition that causes your heart to beat faster than normal when you transition from sitting or lying down to standing up," with the symptoms being "dizziness and fatigue."

'90s Rock Classic Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts Nearly 30 Years Later
Nearly 30 years after its original release, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" is climbing the charts once again.
The beloved ballad by Green Day has reentered Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales chart and currently sits at No. 8, proving the song's remarkable staying power nearly three decades after it first became a hit.
Released in 1997 on the album Nimrod, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" marked a major departure from the punk-rock sound that had made Green Day famous earlier in the decade.
"I had no intention of starting any kind of acoustic thing with Green Day, and I just wrote it, it was just sort of, like, from the heart to the four-track," said in a 2018 interview.
"You make these decisions – well, you can stay in your comfort zone or you can try doing this song…just put it out there and see what happens. So, I remember the first time I ever sang it live. We were somewhere on the east coast, we’re on the ‘Nimrod’ tour, and then I was like 'Ok, I'm gonna sing this song. I'm gonna do it'."
Built around an acoustic guitar and a reflective lyric, the song showcased a softer side of frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and initially surprised fans who were accustomed to the band's louder, faster material.
The gamble paid off.
The song quickly became one of Green Day’s most recognizable recordings and eventually evolved into a cultural phenomenon.
"It's about an ex-girlfriend who had moved to Ecuador," Armstrong told Guitar World. "In the song, I tried to be level-headed about her leaving, even though I was completely pissed off. So I named it 'Good Riddance' just to express my anger."
Over the years, "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" became a staple at graduations, farewell ceremonies, retrospectives and major life milestones thanks to its nostalgic message about embracing change and looking back on meaningful moments.
Its emotional resonance also helped it become one of the most licensed songs of its era, appearing in television shows, movies and countless year-end montages. Part of the song's latest resurgence appears tied to streaming and social media, where younger listeners continue discovering classic songs through playlists, video edits and nostalgic trends.
The track has also remained one of Green Day’s most-streamed songs, introducing new generations to a band that helped define alternative rock in the 1990s.
For Green Day, the song remains one of the most important entries in a catalog that includes hits such as "Basket Case," "When I Come Around" and "American Idiot."
Yet "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" occupies a unique place in the band's history because it demonstrated that Green Day could connect with audiences just as powerfully through quiet reflection as through punk-rock rebellion.
Nearly three decades later, the song's return to the Billboard charts is another reminder that some classics never truly disappear, they simply find new listeners.

Scooter Braun Makes Rare Comment About Taylor Swift Feud: 'I Don't Know Taylor Swift'
Scooter Braun is opening up about his past feud with Taylor Swift.
During the Thursday, May 28 episode of Suzy Weiss' Second Thoughtpodcast, the talent manager shared some insight into the conflict that arose after he purchased the master recordings of Swift's first six albums back in 2019.
The move led Swift to re-record four of those albums, with “(Taylor’s Version)” attached to their titles and tracks.
“[I] went from being like, loved and appreciated for over a decade to literally a villain the next night. I don’t want to go into that, but I will say something that will really sum it up that I don’t know if I’ve ever really said," Braun began.
“I don’t know Taylor Swift. I think I’ve met her in my life three times. I have never had a substantial conversation with her in my life," he continued. "I one time got invited to a private party by her. She told me she had the utmost respect for me. I told her I had the most respect for her. You don’t spend $300 million buying a label that she’s on unless you’re excited at the opportunity to work with her. I will never truly understand that situation. To this day, I wish her nothing but the best."
Although Braun is still "confused" by that part of his life, he says he's chosen to "learn and grow" from the situation.
"As confusing as [the situation was] to me, I think what it did bring to light is that artists are going to start wanting to own their masters, and I think you’re seeing artists more and more do that, and I think that’s great," he added.

Though the two barely knew each other prior to the sale, the pop star considered Braun an enemy due to his close ties with Kanye West and Justin Bieber—two people she had feuded with in the past.
Shortly after the purchase, Swift accused Braun, Bieber, and West of years-long “manipulative bullying,” calling the sale of her masters the “worst case scenario” for her.
Following the controversy, Braun sold the music catalog to private equity firm Shamrock Capital for $300 million back in 2020, who ultimately sold it to Swift in May 2025 for an estimated $360 million.
“I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me,” Swift wrote on her website after the purchase went through. “And all my music videos. All the concert films. The album art and photography. The unreleased songs. The memories. The magic. The madness. Every single era. My entire life’s work.”
Kohl’s $10 Crossbody Tote Bag Comes in the Daintiest Prints Perfect for Summer Schlepping
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
I'm pretty sure I'm never without a crossbody bag. At this point, it's less of an accessory choice and more of a lifestyle. If I'm running errands, heading to the grocery store, taking my kids to the playground or doing that thing where I somehow need to carry snacks, wipes, sunglasses, my phone and approximately 14 random receipts, a crossbody is coming with me. I just can't deal with shoulder bags constantly sliding down my arm or digging through a giant tote trying to find my keys while a child is actively sprinting away from me. If you know, you know.
What I love most is that crossbody bags really do come in different categories for different versions of life. There are the chic ones that make you feel styled for dinner plans or running around town, and then there are the everyday workhorses—the bags that are cute enough to wear everywhere but won't send you into a spiral if they get tossed onto a park bench or accidentally covered in cracker crumbs.
Reusable Crossbody Tote Bag, $9.60 (originally $12) at Kohl'sKohl's
Shop It!This Reusable Crossbody Tote Bag at Kohl's falls under the latter category, and I love that it's both utilitarian and comes in so many different colorways and prints. There's the beige with florals and stripes shown above, a cutesy pink bow motif, gingham cherry print, and so many more. Typically the bag costs a modest $12, but right now you can get 20 percent off with promo code SHOP20, bringing the price down to $9.60.
It's made from cotton canvas, so the bag has that easy, casual vibe, and the adjustable shoulder strap (with a generous 46-inch length) makes it easy to wear crossbody comfortably while keeping your hands free. It's also roomy at over 14 inches tall and 15 inches wide, which means there's plenty of space for your everyday essentials plus the random extras that always seem to tag along.
In terms of reviews, shoppers love its simplicity and functionality.
"I really enjoy the fabric and adjustable strap," said one customer.
Another person actually used it to package a gift. "Very cute and quality bag for the price," they wrote. "I had a great discount and used it as a gift bag for a bachelorette party. It is a durable canvas material and I liked the two different types of straps for carrying."
The toughest decision here really isn't whether to buy this crossbody tote, but which print to choose. But that's a choice you'll have to make yourself.

And based on Bettina’s latest post, their family could expand sometime soon—making the couple even busier.
The newest Trump family member recently shared a carousel of pre-wedding pics, captioning her Instagram post, “The calm before the celebration of a lifetime.” While fans of the political pair are still waiting for a glimpse of the wedding dress, Bettina did add a few new photos from the Memorial Day weekend getaway, including a snapshot of herself wearing a breezy white button-down with green palm trees and a matching green skirt (while snuggled around her groom), a glam selfie in a baby blue wrap mini dress, a precious family pic, photos of a dinner table (the rehearsal dinner, perhaps?), an image of a custom candle that reads, “Love Trumps All,” pictures on the beach, a candid of Don Jr. hitting golf balls from a pier, and a close-up of the cute couple kissing.
Among the many comments was a sweet sentiment from the groom, “Love you babe. Best wedding ever!” Um, we hope so. After all, it is the second for the groom. Bettina gushed back with her own lovey-dovey remark, “You are my whole heart.”
View this post on InstagramEven though the romantic social media exchange caught fans’ attention, these weren’t the only comments people noticed. One commenter wrote, “Baby next,” and Bettina replied directly, adding the folded hands praying emoji…twice. Shortly after, another comment appeared: “Babies. Many babies.” And again, Bettina responded with folded hands emojis (this time three).
While neither Bettina nor her husband, Don Jr., has publicly revealed if and when they want to have children, this Instagram exchange is a pretty big clue.
Bettina’s prior (as of Wednesday) Instagram bio famously said, “I’m just your typical stay-at-home mom…only I don’t do household chores…or have a husband…or have kids.” Of course, she’s already changed the husband part.
As for Don Jr., the president’s son already has five children with ex-wife Vanessa Trump: Kai Trump (born in 2007), Donald Trump III (born in 2009), Tristan Trump (born in 2011), Spencer Trump (born in 2012), and Chloe Trump (born in 2014). And now everyone is wondering, is number six coming soon?
'70s Rock Legend, Whose Career Spans Five Decades, Turns 81
Canadian music icon Bruce Cockburn has turned 81, marking another milestone for a singer-songwriter whose career has stretched across more than five decades and influenced generations of folk and rock musicians.
Born on May 27, 1945, in Ottawa, Ontario, Cockburn built a reputation as one of Canada’s most respected artists through his mix of folk, rock, jazz and politically driven songwriting.
Over the years, he has written more than 350 songs, released more than 30 albums, and earned 13 Juno Awards while maintaining a strong voice in environmental and human rights activism.
Cockburn’s long-running career includes major hits such as “Wondering Where the Lions Are” and “If I Had a Rocket Launcher,” songs that helped bring his music to international audiences in the late 1970s and 1980s.

Even at 81, the veteran musician remains active on stage and continues touring in support of his 2023 album O Sun O Moon.
The singer-songwriter first found success in Canada during the early 1970s after releasing his self-titled debut album in 1970. His guitar work and thoughtful songwriting quickly earned attention, leading to three straight Juno Awards for Canadian Folksinger of the Year from 1971 to 1973.
Cockburn’s breakthrough in the United States came with the 1979 album Dancing in the Dragon’s Jaws. Its hit single, “Wondering Where the Lions Are,” climbed to No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led to an appearance on Saturday Night Live. The album helped introduce his music to a wider audience outside Canada.
Bruce Cockburn’s Music Career and Political ActivismThroughout the 1980s, Cockburn’s music became more political as he focused on world events, environmental destruction and humanitarian issues. His experiences visiting refugee camps and conflict zones shaped some of his best-known songs.
One of the strongest examples was “If I Had a Rocket Launcher,” written after Cockburn visited Guatemalan refugee camps near the Mexico border in 1983. The song became an unlikely MTV and radio hit while also sparking conversations about violence and war.
Speaking about the song years later, Cockburn said to Image Journal, “It was such a revelation. You don’t have to be perfect to get along with people. In fact, nobody ever is.”
The artist worked closely with organizations, including Oxfam and the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. Many of his songs also addressed Indigenous rights and environmental concerns, including “If a Tree Falls,” which criticized deforestation in the Amazon rainforest.
The Canadian Hall of Fame inductee has remained productive well into his 80s. In recent years, Cockburn has continued performing live across Canada and the United States while working on new music projects.
His 2023 album O Sun O Moon featured collaborations with artists including Shawn Colvin, Allison Russell, Buddy Miller and Susan Aglukark. Reports from 2025 and 2026 also confirmed that Cockburn has been working on a cover album inspired by music from the 1930s through the 1950s.
In May 2026, Cockburn appeared at a benefit concert celebrating environmentalist David Suzuki’s 90th birthday, performing his song “If a Tree Falls.” He also joined other musicians at guitarist Jorma Kaukonen’s 85th birthday celebration.
Over the decades, Cockburn’s work has earned recognition beyond the music industry. He became a Member of the Order of Canada in 1982 and was promoted to Officer in 2002. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2001 and later entered the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.
Cockburn also received numerous honorary doctorates and humanitarian honors for his advocacy work and contributions to Canadian culture.
Away from music, Cockburn released his memoir Rumours of Glory in 2014. As Bruce Cockburn celebrates his 81st birthday, his legacy continues to grow through decades of music, activism and songwriting that have reached listeners around the world.
Country Legend Pulls Out of D.C. Concert Over 'Misleading' Political Ties
Country superstar Martina McBride will not be performing at the Great American State Fair, despite being previously announced on the lineup.
The 59-year-old singer was initially supposed to perform at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. next month to celebrate America's 250th birthday, but she announced this week that she is dropping out of the performance due to the event's unexpected political ties.
The Great American State Fair is a 16-day national expo slated to run between late June and mid-July. It's being put on by Freedom 250, which claims to be a "nonpartisan" organization, though its CEO, Keith Krach, was appointed by Donald Trump, who tasked him with organizing the celebratory event. A statement on Krach's website reads, "I am grateful to President Trump for the opportunity to execute his vision for Freedom 250."
According to McBride, she was previously unaware that the event was affiliated with the Trump administration in any way. She reached out to her fans via social media on Thursday, May 28 to "clear the air" after being announced as part of the lineup. In her post, she clarified: "I will not be performing at the Great American State Fair on June 25."
View this post on Instagram"I was presented an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading," McBride wrote, assuring her fans that she had "asked lots of questions and was assured this was a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states."
"In my mind I thought it was a great way to celebrate the states and also bring people together in the way that only music can," she continued. "I saw it as just a bigger version of so many state fairs I have performed at over the years, celebrating community and what makes each state special. Sounds fun, right? Wholesome even. Yesterday things started changing and what we were told is, in fact, not what is happening."
McBride also wrote: "I've spent my entire career singing songs about real people with real issues. I've been blessed with the opportunity to be a voice for those who have felt like they didn't have one. It greatly upsets me that any fan who has been moved by my music may now feel like I'm abandoning the meaning behind those songs. I assure you, that is not the case. I appreciate every single fan who has reached out."
McBride isn't the only artist on the lineup to drop out so far, as Morris Day, Young MC and The Commodores have already announced publicly that they will not be performing.
1972 Rock Classic, With Iconic Guitar Riff and Legendary Songwriter, Became a No. 1 Hit
In 1972, T. Rex released a glam rock classic that helped solidify the band's place at the forefront of British music.
"Metal Guru" became a No. 1 hit in the United Kingdom and further established frontman Marc Bolan as one of the era's most influential songwriters.
Built around a simple but unforgettable guitar riff, soaring vocal harmonies and Bolan's distinctive songwriting style, the song captured the energy of the glam rock movement at its commercial peak.
By 1972, T. Rex had already become one of Britain's biggest bands, thanks to hits such as "Get It On," "Hot Love" and "Telegram Sam." "Metal Guru" continued that remarkable streak, becoming another chart-topper and helping fuel what fans often refer to as "T. Rextasy," or the intense popularity that surrounded the band in the early 1970s.
The song's meaning has been debated for decades. Bolan himself suggested it was written as a love song, describing the "Metal Guru" as a kind of spiritual figure representing love and positive energy rather than a literal person.
"I relate 'Metal Guru' to all gods around," Bolan said in a 1972 interview. "I believe in a god, but I have no religion. With 'Metal Guru', it's like someone special, it must be a godhead. I thought how God would be, he'd be all alone without a telephone."
Like much of Bolan's work, the lyrics mixed fantasy, mystery and emotion in ways that encouraged listeners to create their own interpretations.
"My lyrics always come before the music," Bolan recalled. "Repetition comes into my songs a lot because I think my lyrics are so obscure that they need to be hammered home. You need to hear them eight or nine times before they start to make sense."
The song later appeared on T. Rex's album The Slider, which became one of the defining glam rock records of the decade.
Bolan's influence extended far beyond the charts. His combination of catchy hooks, electric guitars and flamboyant style helped shape the future of rock music, influencing everyone from punk bands to alternative rock artists decades later.
Although his life was tragically cut short when he died in a car accident in 1977 at the age of 29, his songwriting legacy has continued to grow.
More than 50 years after topping the U.K. charts, "Metal Guru" remains one of T. Rex's signature recordings, a glittering glam rock anthem built around an iconic riff and the imagination of one of Britain's greatest rock songwriters.

Legendary ’60s Rockers Hit No. 1 With New Anthem 61 Years After Their First Topper
Rock and roll has no expiration date. For proof, look to The Rolling Stones, who just scored another No. 1 hit with their new anthemic single, “In the Stars.”
The lead track off their upcoming 25th studio album, Foreign Tongues, the song leans into the Stones’ signature rock with a polished production behind it.
View this post on InstagramWritten by core songwriting duo Mick Jaggerand Keith Richards, the tune waxes philosophical about destiny and emotional resilience, pointing to love and certainty as the only currency worth anything in a world marked by chaos and unpredictability.
Released on May 5, the single shot up to No. 1 on two charts in the United Kingdom: the Official Vinyl Singles and Official Physical Singles charts, Forbes reported. The feat marks the band’s fifthNo. 1 hit, following “Angry,” “Living in a Ghost Town,” “Ride ‘Em on Down,” and their first, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” which spent two weeks at the top in 1965.
Accompanying the track is a stellar music video featuring Marty Supreme’s Odessa A’zion and directed by Francois Rousselet, who also helmed the Stones’ videos for “Angry” and “Ride ‘Em on Down.” As for the band, Rousselet utilized de-aging technology to take the guys back to the 1970s. It's pretty trippy.
Foreign Tongues, dropping July 10, has a few other surprises for longtime fans, including a guest appearance from The Cure’s Robert Smith.
Reflecting on the moment the two decided to collaborate, Jagger said, via Louder, "I turned up one day to do my vocals in London, and there's this bloke standing there with his back to me with this long gown on. And when he turned around, he was covered in lipstick. And I said — I'd never met him before — ‘You're Robert Smith of The Cure!’ He said, ‘Yeah!’ And I said, ‘Well, while you’re here then, you better go and do something.’”
The follow up to 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, the album also features Paul McCartney, SteveWinwood, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith. According to Louder, the record was finished in less than a month at Metropolis Studios, with four tracks added from previous sessions.
In addition to the first track, the Stones have released their second single, "Rough and Twisted." At the time of writing, neither song has yet to break into the Billboard Hot 100, but it’s far too early to underestimate rock’s most enduring hitmakers.

7 Genius McDonald's Hacks Employees Actually Use When They Order for Themselves
McDonald’s fans have spent years trading “secret menu” tricks online, but some of the best hacks actually come from the people who work there. Employees know which customizations are worth trying, which requests will get you fresher food and which ordering habits make the experience smoother for everyone involved. From TikTok videos to Reddit threads filled with former crew members sharing insider advice, these employee-approved tricks have become a huge part of fast-food internet culture.
People love the idea that workers know something the average customer doesn’t, and beyond that, many of these hacks can genuinely improve your order. Whether it’s getting hotter fries, using the app for ordering tricks and hacks, or saving money by customizing cheaper menu items, small tweaks to the existing McDonald's menu options can make a surprisingly big difference.

Social media has also made these hacks more visible than ever. Former employees regularly post behind-the-scenes tips on TikTok and Instagram, while Reddit communities like r/McDonaldsEmployees have become a goldmine for honest discussions about what actually works.
Of course, not every “secret” is guaranteed at every location because franchise rules and ingredient availability vary. Still, many workers say the McDonald's menu hacks below are common knowledge behind the counter.
7 Staff-Only Menu Hacks at McDonald'sCHALERMPHON SRISANG / Shutterstock.com
If you want to order smarter at McDonald’s without annoying the staff, these are the employee-approved hacks worth knowing before your next drive-thru run.
1. Ask for Fresh Fries Instead of No-Salt Frieshttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/2_PhS7TWbsM
One of the internet’s most famous McDonald’s hacks is ordering fries with no salt so employees have to make a fresh batch. Workers on social media have confirmed the trick works, but many say it also slows down the kitchen unnecessarily, especially when customers immediately ask for salt packets afterward.
According to social media and the McDonald's website, the better option is to simply ask for fries “dropped fresh” or politely requesting fresh fries. Workers claim most locations are happy to do it if they aren’t slammed with orders.
2. Customize a McDouble Into a Cheaper Big Machttps://www.youtube.com/shorts/KYVPnVQLypg
This hack has circulated for years because it can save customers money while delivering a very similar taste. Employees and longtime McDonald’s fans recommend ordering two McDoubles with shredded lettuce and Big Mac sauce and removing ketchup and mustard.
Then, simply combine the two sandwiches together, putting one of the buns in the middle to mimic a Big Mac. The final result is a budget-friendly Big Mac that's pretty close to the real thing with even more patties.
3. Order the "Big Chicken" @hellthyjunkfood#lovin #the #chicken #bigmac @mcdonalds #foodhack #foodhacks #menu #hack #special #order #request #nobeef #bigmac #mcdonalds #hacks #fyp #viral #food #fastfood #fypシ
♬ original sound - HellthyJunkFoodThe “Big Chicken” is one of those employee-style McDonald’s hacks that feels like it should already exist on the official menu. The trick is simple: order a standard McChicken, then add Big Mac sauce, shredded lettuce and pickles. The result tastes surprisingly close to the limited-edition Chicken Big Mac that McDonald’s tested in select markets, but at a lower starting price and with a slightly crispier, lighter build.
Because the McChicken already has the same basic structure—soft bun, breaded chicken patty and mayo—the added Big Mac sauce and toppings instantly push it into familiar Big Mac territory.

4. Use the McDonald's App Before ArrivingEmployees frequently recommend ordering through the McDonald’s app because it speeds up the process and unlocks exclusive deals. Former workers have said app orders are often easier for staff to handle because everything is entered clearly in advance. Some ex-employees also point out that checking in before you arrive can help your order get started faster during busy hours.
You also earn reward points that can add up to free food at future visits. Plus, McDonald's offers deals like free fries with a drink purchase or a certain percentage or dollar amount off your order if you spend a minimum amount. The app also saves previous orders to make it faster at checkout too.
5. Ask for Cook-to-Order Burgers During Slow Hours @chefmikeharaczFormer #McDonalds corporate chef tells you how to get fresh food every time. #McdonaldsLife #McDonaldsTikTok #mcdonaldssecrets #McDonaldsSecret #mcdonaldshack #mcdonaldshacks #food #tiktokfood #foodfestontiktok #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #fastfood #FastFoodSecrets #FastFoodTikTok #fastfoodhacks
♬ original sound - Chef Mike HaraczAccording to former employees on Reddit, many McDonald’s kitchens have a cook-to-order option that allows burgers to be made fresh rather than pulled from a warming tray. A former McDonald's corporate chef claims Quarter Pounders are always (at least they should be) cooked to order, so that's something to keep in mind when deciding what you want.
Workers say a cooked-to-order request is most reasonable during non-peak hours. During lunch or dinner rushes, kitchens are already moving fast, and special requests can back things up significantly, so timing is everything.
6. Use the "Round Egg" Ordering Hack for Breakfast Sandwiches View this post on InstagramOne of the smartest breakfast hacks at McDonald's is the “Round Egg Upgrade.” While the fast food giant uses three different kinds of eggs for its breakfast menu, not all of them are made the same way. Many sandwiches come with folded eggs made from a liquid egg mixture that's frozen, but the round egg used on the Egg McMuffin is freshly cracked and cooked on the grill.
The trick is simple. Order your favorite breakfast sandwich and ask to substitute the standard folded egg with a round egg instead. It’s an easy customization that can make your meal taste fresher and more homemade without dramatically changing the price.
7. Be Polite With CustomizationsMarcin Golba / NurPhoto via Getty Images
This might be the simplest hack of all, but employees say it genuinely matters. Workers across Reddit consistently mention that polite customers are more likely to get help with unusual requests, extra sauces or off-menu tweaks.
Many "secret menu” items are really just custom orders, so attitude can make a huge difference. Employees say respectful requests are usually easier to accommodate, especially when the restaurant isn’t overwhelmed.

What to Know Before You OrderMario Tama / Getty Images
Not every McDonald’s hack works at every location, and employees say the biggest factor is timing. Franchise owners can set different rules on customizations, certain ingredients may not be available all day, and some requests simply aren’t realistic during lunch or dinner rushes.
Workers cannot stress enough how important it is to be polite with custom orders. Across social media, employees say customers who are patient and understanding are far more likely to get help with requests, extra sauces or unofficial tweaks.
It’s also worth remembering that some online hacks become exaggerated once they spread across social media. A trick that worked perfectly in one restaurant may not work the same way somewhere else because menu systems, ingredient prep and staffing vary by franchise. Even employee-approved hacks can depend on the specific crew working that day.
The safest approach is to think of these hacks as optional upgrades rather than guaranteed “secret menu” items. At the end of the day, the best McDonald’s hacks aren’t necessarily the most complicated ones. According to workers themselves, small adjustments, good timing and basic courtesy are usually what make the biggest difference.

Psychologists Say if You Turn Down the Radio To Focus on Driving, You Likely Have These 9 Traits
The human brain is fascinating. Because what do you mean we sometimes need to turn down the radio to see better while driving? In theory, the auditory input in your car shouldn't really affect how well your eyes are functioning, but in practice, there's actually a lot of correlation between the two regarding this behavior. And if you're someone who puts this habit into practice, there are a few traits you probably exhibit in your everyday life beyond just driving. Parade spoke with three psychologists to better learn about why having a quieter environment to "see" better feels like it actually works.
Parade consulted Dr. Michele Goldman, a psychologist and media advisor for the Hope for Depression Research Foundation; Dr. Matthew M. Leahy, a psychologist and the Director of Group Programming, Mental Health Services at Momentous Institute; and Dr. Lily Kaufmann, a licensed clinical psychologist and anxiety specialist.
Dr. Kaufmann says she's personally in the camp that prioritizes silence to hone in on driving. "It seems silly, right? Turning down the volume while driving doesn't help you see better! However, it can help you focus more," she shares.
If you're in that same group—where you need less audio input to better concentrate—these psychologists share nine traits associated with turning down your music, podcast or audiobook to focus on driving that you may not have recognized as connected.
Why Do Some People Turn Music Off or Down To Focus or ‘See Better’ in the Car?Igor Suka/Getty Images
"It’s not really about your eyesight," shares Dr. Leahy, concerning the action of turning down the radio for better focus. "It’s about your brain. Your brain has a limited amount of attention to go around, and sound takes up some of that space."
He says when you reduce the volume, "You’re reducing extra input, which frees up more mental energy to focus on what you’re seeing and doing."
Dr. Goldman adds that it's more common for this behavior to kick in when you're driving in a new area, trying to park in a small spot or you're a bit lost.
"When we are familiar with an area, we can rely on spatial memory, which is a type of memory that is created over time with repetition," she explains, adding that new or difficult driving scenarios challenge that spatial memory. "We are trying to process every street sign, turn, traffic pattern [and] complex intersections."
She shares that this can produce "cognitive overload because we are not running on autopilot."
"Turning down the volume can help to reduce the stress, [since it's] one less thing for the brain to be encoding and interpreting," she tells Parade.

9 Traits of People Who Turn Down the Radio To Focus on Driving, According to Psychologists1. Detail-orientedDr. Leahy says the type of driver who turns down the volume to focus tends "to be detail-oriented, especially in situations that require precision like parking or navigating."
"In those moments, your brain is working harder to scan for signs, judge distances [and] make quick decisions," he explains.
2. Passionate"[Maybe] you're really into that song or podcast episode you're listening to," says Dr. Kaufmann, attributing this behavior to passion. "You might have gotten so caught up that you didn't realize you missed your turn. Now you need to turn the volume down and refocus on getting where you're going."
3. Easily overwhelmedDr. Goldman says the "competing sensory input" of auditory, visual and tactile stressors can also lead to a feeling of overwhelm.
"The brain can only process so much information at a given time before it fatigues," she says, adding, "Driving taxes the brain... turning down the volume to reduce input might be a sign that [someone has] limited attentional bandwidth."
Related: 9 Signs Someone Is Emotionally Overstimulated, Not Actually Angry, According to a Psychologist
4. UnconfidentDr. Goldman says people may feel the need to turn down the volume because they're "lacking confidence in their working memory." They may feel like the high volume is interfering with their "ability to recall information."
5. DistractableDr. Kaufmann says you may also be generally prone to distraction.
"You're sensitive to new sights or sounds in your environment," she shares. "It doesn't take much to get your attention, and you might have a hard time sticking with one thing."
6. Mentally flexibleIt's not all negative, though. Dr. Leahy says that those who "recognize when something feels harder and quickly make small changes" show important mental flexibility.
7. AnxiousAnxiety is another trait Dr. Kaufmann attributes to those with this driving behavior.
"[You're] the person who starts feeling antsy when you hit unexpected traffic or can't find a spot in the grocery store parking lot," she notes. "You need fewer things trying to grab your attention so you can get yourself where you need to go."
8. DaydreamerDr. Kaufmann states that you may also just "have an active imagination" that causes you to get "so lost in your thoughts that you lose touch with your current surroundings."
"You might need a gentle nudge to reconnect with where you are and what you're doing," and turning down the volume while driving is one way to achieve that, the psychologist shares.
9. Self-awareAt the end of the day, this can also be traced back to a secure grasp on your own self-awareness. Dr. Leahy says that people who turn down the volume while driving "are often pretty self-aware and good at adjusting their environment to help them focus."
Related: 7 Traits of People Who Talk to Their Pets Like Humans, According to Psychologists
Is It a Bad Thing if You Need It To Be Quiet While Driving?"It’s actually a smart and very normal response," says Dr. Leahy. He continues, sharing, "It means your brain is working the way it should by prioritizing important information and reducing distractions when needed."
Dr. Goldman adds that different people have different capacities for distraction.
"For some, driving in general is highly stressful and taxing. For others, they love to drive and find it relaxing... others cannot manage their stress when driving in the rain," she says. "If you are someone who needs to turn down the volume, just know it means you are trying to allocate your focus differently... giving yourself more space to be able to attend to the task at hand."
And when it comes to something as serious as operating a vehicle, she says that prioritizing your focus is "an excellent thing."
"There's nothing wrong with listening to music, a podcast, an audiobook... while driving," Dr. Kaufmann says, ultimately. "It can make longer drives more bearable and add a little self-care to your commute."
She adds that having some forethought, if you do have this habit, might be good in the future, though.
"You might just want to plan ahead if you're heading somewhere new or can anticipate the drive will be challenging in some way so that you can give it your full focus," she states.
