1978 Rock Classic, Lasting Nearly 9 Minutes, Became a Legendary Road Trip Anthem, Without Ever Hitting No. 1

Fri, 05/29/2026 - 1:09am

In May 1978, Joe Walsh released what would go on to become the biggest song of his solo career. That tune is called “Life’s Been Good.”

Written solely by Walsh, “Life’s Been Good” came together in pieces, which he detailed during a 2012 intimate acoustic concert held at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California, as seen in the YouTube clip below.

“There’s a room in my head where I have all these bits and pieces, and when it’s time to write a song, I take them and put them out on the table like a jigsaw puzzle and see what fits. So that’s what I did,” the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist said, at the time, reflecting on how he came up with the song lyrics and melody for “Life’s Been Good.”

Ranked at No. 54 in Rolling Stone’s 2011 list of “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” naturally, Walsh’s solo-penned tune would include a few iconic guitar moments, such as the memorable opening that he said “had nothing to do with” some of the other major guitar riffs in “Life’s Been Good.”

Initially, one guitar part was meant for another song, but Walsh included it along with the rest of his collection of unused fragments, ultimately forming a track that would go on to become a timeless road trip anthem, due to its driving beat and cruising tempo.

Lyrically, “Life’s Been Good” is largely influenced by Walsh’s own life and serves as a tongue-in-cheek, satirical response to the over-the-top lifestyle of rock ‘n’ roll fame. He jokes about living in hotel rooms, despite owning a full-sized mansion and having a Maserati, but no licence to drive.

“I wanted to make a statement involving satire and humor, kind of poking fun at the incredibly silly lifestyle that someone in my position is faced with,” Walsh told the BBC in 1981. “In other words, I do have a really nice house, but I'm on the road so much that when I come home from a tour, it's really hard to feel that I even live here. It's not necessarily me, I think it paraphrases anyone in my position, and I think that's why a lot of people relate to it.”

The final product of “Life’s Been Good,” which appears on the 1978 album, But Seriously Folks…, ended up running well over eight minutes, making the song too long for radio. Walsh edited a version for radio with a 4:35 run-time, which went on to become a Top 20 hit, peaking at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Though “Life’s Been Good” didn’t become a No. 1 hit, the song has been widely regarded as Walsh’s signature song and has also become a staple in the Eagles' set-lists.

Farmers Across America Are Filing for Bankruptcy and Here's What That Means for the Rest of Us

Fri, 05/29/2026 - 12:42am

If you've never had the chance to pick a fresh fruit or vegetable while visiting your local farm, you're missing out. These sun-ripened items are usually in perfect condition, and can taste like nothing else you've ever had before. But a rise in farm bankruptcies may put an end to that practice in certain areas, as farmers say they are struggling to make money in today's economy.

What's worse is that the larger implications this has for the rest of the U.S. may mean more than just having to buy fresh food picked before its prime; it may mean Americans will once again face rising grocery prices. Keep reading to find out what I mean.

Farmers Say They Are Under Financial Strain

Reporting from the SC Times shows that farm bankruptcies have risen this year. According to the publication, Minnesota farmers led the way in bankruptcy court, with the most filings in the first quarter of 2026. And it's not just the Land of 10,000 Lakes that sees farmers struggling to make ends meet. According to the publication, the Midwest is being particularly hard hit.

"I know a lot of farmers that are really struggling," Bob Worth said in his interview, noting that he's seen a lot of struggles over his decades in the industry, adding that this recent series of downs is mostly caused by the increase in costs of essentials like fuel and fertilizer alongside the decreased price of crops.

And while Worth confesses that he first started to feel the pain four years ago, things have only seemed to get worse, citing the trade war, which not only brought tariffs but also caused China to pull back on its annual U.S. agricultural purchase.

Related: If You Want To Save Money, You Might Want To Start Carrying Cash

Fewer Farms Mean Higher Prices

While it may be hard to imagine the impact that the closing of eight farms in Minnesota can have on the price of food in Arkansas—and eight is the number of farmers from the state who have filed for bankruptcy already this year, according to the SC Times—the reverberations of U.S. farm closures can be felt across the state, and sometimes even the country.

Not only do closed farms not produce the fresh fruit delivered locally and nationally, but they also impact the local community, according to the Farm Bureau of Arkansas's September 2025 report. That's because closed farms don't pay the taxes that fund infrastructure improvements and schools. They also don't purchase supplies from other businesses that rely on them for everything from equipment sales to fertilizer, which can harm other industries.

Related: A Raise at Work May Not Reduce Your Money Stress, But This Might

That can lead to further job losses, quickly tanking rural areas and the communities that rely on them. But the picture isn't just dire for those living in these regions. A loss of local farms means retailers have to order fresh food from farther away, incurring higher shipping and fuel costs that are then passed on to customers.

That can lead to shortages, supply chain issues, and even marked-up prices, forcing Americans to pay more when they shop.

While this isn't an easy fix—farmers have struggled with the ups and downs of the industry for generations—it does highlight the importance of a healthy and well-established farm industry that can provide jobs and food for those in need of both.

At 72, John Travolta Unveils a Dramatic New Look: “I Started to Not Be Able To Differentiate…”

Fri, 05/29/2026 - 12:11am

John Travolta is embracing a bold new look with a beret. The actor was spotted sporting the hat during the Cannes Film Festival.

At the premiere of his directing debut, Propeller One-Way Night Coach, Travolta spoke to Varietyabout how the hat has helped him feel confident in the director’s seat.

“So I looked up all the old school directors and they all had berets and sometimes glasses and it was very it was cliché but in a wonderful way,” he shared “They were probably reflecting painters and musicians of the type.”

The 72-year-old added that the headwear has a deep history.

“The beret has been around for 800 years,” Travolta said. “You know, the military — it’s an old school thing. I looked at all the photographs of me for 50 years and I can’t tell you the difference. I started to not be able to differentiate and I said ‘well, you’re not an actor really.’”

The Saturday Night Fever actor gives credit to the beret for earning him a spot on the best-dressed lists from Vogue, GQ, and Harper’s Bazaar during Cannes.

“Guys don’t have enough to do,” Travolta said. “They’re putting men in skirts because there’s a lack of something there…why not change it up? We can have fun too.”

He admitted he now owns at least a dozen berets. Travolta explains he has always made an effort to be fashionable.

“My brother-in-law worked for Vogue in the ’60s and Harper’s Bazaar and he would style me as a teenager. I had my first bell bottoms, my first wide belt, my first double breasted suit. I looked like Warren Beatty, Bonnie and Clyde. So I’m very aware of how [women] have more options than we do,” the Pulp Fiction star said.

Travolta’s film Propeller One-Way Night Coach is based on his 1997 children’s book and available to stream on AppleTV+.

'90s 'Any Man of Mine' Icon Surprises With Intimate Pub Show - Then Opens for Harry Styles

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 11:22pm

Here's something you don't see every day: one of the biggest selling artists of the 1990s, a woman who sold over 100 million records and turned country music into a global phenomenon, playing a 200-person pub in East London.

But that's exactly what Shania Twain just announced.

On June 6th, the woman behind "Any Man of Mine," "That Don't Impress Me Much," and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" will take the stage at the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston — a scruffy, beloved little venue that holds 200 people on a good night. The same woman who headlined Hyde Park last summer and played a legendary set at Glastonbury 2024.

The same woman who, just weeks later, will be opening forHarry Stylesacross his record-breaking 12-night run at Wembley Stadium.

Let that sink in for a moment.

From Dalston to Wembley in One Summer

The contrast is almost too good to be true. Two hundred people crammed into a pub in East London one night. Ninety thousand people at Wembley the next month. It's the kind of summer that reminds you why Shania Twain has never stopped being one of the most exciting names in music.

The Shacklewell Arms is the real deal — a 200-capacity venue that's hosted cult favourites like FKA Twigs, Wolf Alice, Fontaines DC and Haim over the years. It's the kind of place where the sound bounces off the walls and you can feel the bass in your chest. The kind of show where you'll be close enough to see her smile.

Tickets are just £25 each ( equivalent to 33.50 USD) and won't be available through the usual channels. Instead, fans can enter a ballot for the chance to buy up to two tickets through Dice. Those who miss out can try their luck through Shania's social media channels on May 29th.

Twenty-five European pounds. Two hundred people. Shania Twain.

For context, this is her smallest show in decades.

The timing couldn't be better. Shania's seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain, arrives on July 24th via Republic — her first release since 2023's Queen Of Me. Everything about this summer feels intentional. The intimate show, the Wembley residency with Styles, the new album. This isn't a comeback. She never went anywhere. This is an artist who knows exactly what she's doing.

For anyone who grew up with 'Come On Over' blasting from every speaker in 1997, this summer is nothing short of a gift. Shania Twain in a 200-person pub. Shania Twain at Wembley. Shania Twain with new music.

She was your childhood. She was your road trips. She was every song you turned up when you needed to feel unstoppable.

And this June, she's playing a pub in Dalston for 200 lucky people.

That, actually, does impress us very much.

2011 Party Anthem Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 15 Years Later

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 11:04pm

One of the biggest party anthems of the early 2010s is unexpectedly finding new life, as Jennifer Lopez’s 2011 smash hit "On the Floor" is climbing the charts again 15 years after it first dominated dance floors and club playlists.

The song — featuring Pitbull and built around a sample of the 1989 hit "Lambada" — has reentered Billboard rankings after experiencing a resurgence online after it was featured in the smash hit Off Campus, proving that some songs never really leave the party.

Lopez reacted to the surprising chart comeback in a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

"I just found out because my team, they called me, and they were like, 'On the Floor' has entered the charts for the first time in 15 years," she told the host. "I was like, 'What?' It was just like out of the blue."

She added, "But that's the difference. It's like the music business, everything has changed because people discover music — like my kids are listening to all kinds of music that
I've never even heard of, and some stuff that is classic like the Beatles. But great music lives forever, as we know, but it lives in a different way now because they can find it easily."

Less than two weeks after Off Campus premiered on Prime Video, "On the Floor" landed at No. 117 on the Billboard Global 200 chart with 15.1 million streams worldwide.

When the song was released in 2011, it quickly became one of J.Lo's 10 top 10 hits, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kristin Cavallari Channels Early 2000s Britney Spears in Snakeskin Bikini at Fashion Show

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 11:01pm

Kristin Cavallari, 39, is known to the world as an outspoken reality TV star and podcaster. The former Laguna Beach star just added another accolade to her resume, taking Miami Swim Week by storm for the Uncommon James x Resa fashion show in a tiny snakeskin bikini that took fans right back to Britney Spears’ iconic "I’m A Slave 4 U" performance at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.

Cavallari may not have had a massive boa constrictor around her neck, but her fashion show look was classic early-2000s Britney. The reality TV star and mom of three confidently strutted down the runway wearing long blonde hair cascading down her tanned back and a snakeskin-print bikini that showed off her well-earned physique.

Kristin Cavallari’s Runway Look Sparks Britney Spears Comparisons View this post on Instagram

Britney’s 2001 MTV VMA performance remains one of the most iconic live pop music moments of all time, thanks in part to her unforgettable snake-themed styling and performance. While Britney famously incorporated a live snake into the performance and Cavallari did not, Kristin’s beachy blonde hair and snakeskin runway look served as a striking homage to the pop star’s legendary 2001 aesthetic.

“This feels like ‘I’m A Slave’ Britney came back to give the world what we neeeeeded right now in pop culture,” gushed one excited fan on video of Cavallari’s runway walk shared to social media.

Fans React to Kristin Cavallari’s Miami Swim Week Appearance

Kristin Cavallari is the mom of three children she shares with ex-husband and former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler. The effort and discipline needed to achieve such a fit runway-ready look was not lost on Cavallari’s fans.

“The body is insane!” shared one commenter. Another asked, “You birthed three babies?”

Indeed, she did.

Others were equally impressed by Kristin’s toned physique, especially her abs.

“I need your core ab workout,” wrote one follower. Another added, “Surprised the runway didn’t catch fire you GUYZZZZ.”

Why Early 2000s Fashion Nostalgia Is Everywhere Again

Kristin Cavallari’s apparent homage to Britney Spears’ 2001 "I’m A Slave 4 U" era reflects pop culture’s ongoing obsession with all things Y2K.

From low-rise jeans and cargo pants to Ugg boots and tiny tops, early-2000s fashion continues making a major comeback. The era’s upbeat dance-pop music is also experiencing renewed popularity, particularly across social media and nostalgia-driven trends.

Britney Spears fans, however, would argue the pop icon never went out of style.

Keurig Dr Pepper Officially Confirms Availability of Returning Cult-Favorite Flavor

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 10:48pm

Dr Pepper fans have been rejoicing over fan-favorite flavor Creamy Coconut making its grand return, and even more so after hearing that the limited-time offer would be hitting shelves permanently—or so they thought.

After rumors swirled that the dark soda beverage would supposedly be available year-round, lovers of the beloved fizzy drink couldn't contain their excitement, taking to social media to praise the company for the move. But now, it has officially been confirmed that the rumors were untrue, and Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut is, in fact, still only around for a limited time.

Trusted food blogger Markie Devo took to social media with the news on Thursday, May 28, sharing an Instagram post to announce that he received word directly from the company regarding the availability of the cult-favorite flavor. "Rumor killer… and yes, this is a sad one! 🕵🏻‍♂️," the update was captioned. "Over the past week, I’ve received several DMs about a rumor claiming that Dr Pepper Creamy Coconut would become a permanent shelf item."

"Unfortunately, the rumor is NOT true," he explained, claiming that he went the extra mile to ensure he got the scoop to share with his over 215K followers: "I contacted 3 different sources to confirm whether the rumor was true: Keurig Dr Pepper, a Keurig Dr Pepper sales rep, and a production worker."

In his post, he included a screenshot of the communication with Keurig Dr Pepper, which stated, "Creamy Coconut is a LTO through July, not a permanent flavor."

Devo further clarified that the offering is currently "available at major stores now through July, or until warehouse inventory is depleted. (Some stores may sell out earlier than others!)" and urged shoppers to "stock up while you can."

In the comments section, fans were less than pleased with the news.

"Annoying bc they’ll keep the nasty blackberry but not this," one top-liked comment read, while another agreed, "I need them to end blackberries permanent residency and give that spot to coconut immediately."

A third questioned the timing, writing, "But summer doesn’t end in July."

"It's out of stock everywhere I go! 😭" someone else lamented, as yet another commenter dropped, "Well that’s highly disappointing. They can keep the god awful cream soda around but not this?"

Still, others dealt with the update by vowing to purchase as many cases as they can find. "Guess imma have to stock up," one such Instagram user said, with another adding, "So you’re telling me that I have to stock up on this."

Meanwhile, one took it upon themselves to call on the brand personally with their request: "@drpepper@keurigdrpepper make Creamy Coconut PERMANENT, it's the best flavor!"

Chili’s Brings Back Its Iconic ‘Baby Back Ribs’ Jingle — With a Surprise Twist

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 10:45pm

If the words "I want my baby back, baby back, baby back…" immediately started playing in your head, you’re not alone.

One of the most recognizable restaurant jingles of the late '90s and early 2000s is getting a modern twist. Lizzo is putting her own spin on Chili's iconic "Baby Back Ribs" song in a new campaign celebrating the restaurant chain's revamped ribs.

The collab — which was announced on May 27 — features Lizzo recreating the famously catchy tune while paying homage to the original commercial. The video even includes visual nods to the classic ad before the "About Damn Time" puts her instrumental twist with a flute solo.

Yes, that is a rib-shaped flute she's playing.

"Weekends at Chili’s were a huge part of my childhood, and I’ve stayed a fan — you may have even seen me dress up as a Fried Mozzarella cheese pull on Halloween," Lizzo said of the collab. "So when they reached out about collaborating, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. I don’t think there’s a more memorable jingle, so when putting my own spin on it, I really wanted to honor that history while also making it feel fun and very me."

The collaboration comes as Chili’s promotes an update to its longtime Baby Back Ribs menu item, which the chain says now includes "meatier and more craveable" portions and a new barbecue sauce finish.

Anthropologie’s Delicate $30 Crystal Necklace Is the ‘Perfect Finishing Touch for Summer’

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 10:00pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

When it comes to summer jewelry, the best pieces feel timeless while still adding a little personality to your outfit. Warm weather dressing naturally leans lighter and more relaxed, so accessories that feel colorful, effortless, and easy to wear tend to stand out the most. Instead of heavy statement pieces, summer style works especially well with jewelry that adds sparkle and interest without feeling overly formal.

One option that strikes that balance beautifully is the Anthropologie Pop-Color Crystal Pendant Necklace. Right now, it’s on sale for 38% off at Anthropologie, bringing the price down from $48 to just $30. For a piece that looks far more elevated than its price tag suggests, it’s an especially fun seasonal find.

This piece reimagines the look of a classic tennis necklace with a more playful, modern twist. It features a strand of closely set crystals paired with a larger oval-shaped pendant that instantly catches the light. What really makes it stand out, though, is the colorful enamel detail holding the pendant in place. That subtle pop of color keeps the necklace feeling fresh and wearable instead of overly formal.

It’s available in four distinct colorways, each with its own vibe. The red-and-gold option feels bold and energetic, while the green-and-silver version leans a little more unique and edgy. The white-and-gold style is classic and minimal, and the light-blue-and-silver option feels softer and more delicate. Depending on the color you choose, the necklace can easily shift between playful and polished.

The necklace itself is crafted from gold- or silver-plated brass with glass, cubic zirconia, and enamel details. It measures 16.8 inches long and features a fold-over clasp that helps keep it secure while sitting comfortably along the collarbone. The scale feels delicate enough for everyday wear while still offering enough sparkle to stand out.

Because it blends luxury-inspired shine with colorful details, it’s surprisingly easy to style. It looks especially chic layered over a crisp white T-shirt and relaxed denim for an elevated casual look. For vacations or summer dinners, it pairs beautifully with linen, sundresses, or lightweight monochromatic outfits that let the necklace become the focal point.

The versatility also makes the necklace useful for a wide range of occasions. It works just as well for brunch, dates, and vacations as it does for bridal showers, weddings, or evening dinners. The colorful enamel keeps it from feeling too serious during the day, while the crystal detailing still gives it enough glamor for dressier settings.

At this price point, it also makes a great gift. Since pendant necklaces don’t require sizing like rings or bracelets, they’re easy to buy for birthdays, graduations, or just-because surprises. The different colorways also make the piece feel more personal since you can choose one that matches someone’s style or favorite color palette.

One shopper described the necklace as “cute” in a five-star review, adding, “It’s absolutely adorable — the perfect finishing touch for summer.” Another shared, “It adds a pop of sparkle and color coordination without being too over the top.”

Man Sentenced To 12 Years in Prison for Planned Attack on Taylor Swift's Vienna 'Eras Tour' Concerts

Thu, 05/28/2026 - 9:19pm

A 21-year-old man who was arrested in connection with a planned attack on Taylor Swift's canceled 2024 Eras Tour concerts in Vienna has been found guilty on several charges.

In photos taken from court, the man's face was covered by a binder to avoid being identified. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison in an Austrian court on Thursday, May 28.

“I would just like to say that I am sorry," the man said in court after closing arguments, according to the Associated Press.

In August 2024, Swift was set to perform in Vienna, but all three of the shows were cancelled after a man was arrested after the CIA received a tip just before the first of the shows. Specifically, according to AP, authorities searched his apartment and found bomb-making materials the day before the shows.

The singer addressed this scary situation in an Instagram post shortly after.

"Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating,” she wrote. "The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.”

"But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives," Swift continued. "I was heartened by the love and unity I saw in the fans who banded together."

There were expected to be 65,000 fans inside the stadium for each of the three sold out shows, with thousands of others expected to be outside.

However, following the news of the shows being cancelled, hundreds of fans gathered together, dancing while singing all of her songs. They also wore bracelets, with fans trading them with other strangers, which became an iconic part of Swift's tour, in a heartfelt moment, showing the singer's impact.
