Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, shared a trial update with Good Morning America on Tuesday. During a September 8 interview with George Stephanopoulos, Reddington said that he hoped Donald Trump would consider granting Clancy a pardon.

When Stephanopoulos pressed the attorney on what comes next for his client, Reddington replied candidly, “I’d like to say that perhaps Donald Trump, who felt compelled to speak out about this case, may very well, Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady, the type of person she is, what she’s been through, and consider a pardon.”

Clancy, who stands accused of killing her children before attempting to take her own life, is currently in the midst of a media frenzy over her recent mistrial. After a jury failed to reach a unanimous decision last Friday, Judge William Sullivan read a statement from the foreperson: “It is with a heavy heart that we report we are unable to come to a unanimous decision and will not be able to.”

While Clancy doesn’t deny the accusations, she entered a not-guilty plea. The 36-year-old former labor and delivery nurse’s defense team alleges that she cannot be held criminally liable for her actions due to an impaired mental state resulting from postpartum psychosis. 

During the interview with Stephanopoulos, Reddington admitted that he knew little about postpartum depression and psychosis before the trial, saying, “I’m horrified at what women have to deal with postpartum. Dealing with postpartum depression. Dealing with, god forbid, postpartum psychosis, and the horrific actions that occur as a result of that. People do not understand or know what they are doing. And it is real, and it is frightening.” 

Trump weighed in on the case when asked about the mistrial announcement during a press briefing on Friday, “It’s a horrible tragedy. I see what’s happened, and it looks like it’s a hung jury, and I think the judge said it’s going to be a mistrial. I assume there’s going to be another trial.”

He continued, “It’s a terrible situation. Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can’t be worse. But you’ll find out what the price to pay is. There will be a price. It’s going to be a mental institution or jail or something. But I guess they’re going to go through another trial. It’s too bad.”

Reddington’s Statement about a Presidential Pardon Ignites a Social Media Firestorm 

Following the interview with Clancy’s attorney, GMA posted a clip (on Instagram) of Reddington’s plea to Trump. Critics jumped on the post to give their thoughts, with one pointing out, “These are Massachusetts state charges, so a presidential pardon has no legal effect.” A series of swift replies followed, including, “That lawyer knows this”, “That’s what I’m thinking,” and “There’s a bigger reason for saying this. Think bigger.”

“This attorney is now crossing the line. What?!” questioned another commenter, as others added, “Regardless of what she’s been through, I don’t agree with a pardon,” and “Excuse me, sir, ‘feel the need to speak out’ about this case. He was asked a direct question, and he gave an answer.”

As of now, Trump has not publicly responded to Reddington’s request.

But that doesn’t mean thin hair is destined to look flat or lifeless.

The right cut can absolutely change the game. Rugetti loves creating “clean, intentional shapes with strategic layers” that give hair “movement and volume without taking away too much weight.”

1. Blunt micro-bob

Amerah Underwood, pro stylist and co-founder of UMI Salon, calls the “blunt edge” the “single best trick for fine hair,” since cutting the jaw-to-chin length straight across “stacks the hair’s weight at the bottom,” creating the visual effect of thicker ends.

The important part is resisting the urge to feather or over-layer the perimeter, which Underwood says can actually “thin it out further.”

At home, she recommends blow-drying with a round brush and rolling the ends under, then adding a root-lifting spray directly at the scalp before drying. The result is compact and full without needing a ton of product or fuss.

2. Modern lob

For anyone who wants the fullness of a shorter cut without going quite that short, the modern lob hits the sweet spot. Gina Rivera, celebrity stylist (who has worked behind-the-scenes at the Grammys, NBA All Star Week and the Coachella) and founder of Phenix Salon Suites, recommends a collarbone-grazing length because it “makes the hair appear fuller,” while still leaving enough room to switch up the styling.

A little lightweight mousse at the roots gives the hair some lift, then a flat iron or large-barrel curling iron can create soft waves and texture through the lengths. It’s an especially good option for someone who wants movement without sacrificing that strong, full-looking perimeter—and, bonus, it can easily swing from sleek to beachy depending on the day.

3. Textured pixie

The textured pixie is proof that going shorter can actually make thin hair look more substantial. Rivera loves this cut because it “has a lot of volume at the root” while eliminating the length and wispy ends that can make thinner hair look even more sparse.

A lightweight volumizing mousse helps give the style some lift, while blow-drying the hair at the crown at a “90 degree angle” creates maximum root height. It’s also refreshingly low-maintenance. Rivera calls it a great choice for women who want an “easy chic look,” and honestly, the less time spent wrestling with the hair, the better.

4. Blunt bob

There’s a reason the blunt bob keeps showing up on every fine-hair list—it just works. This jaw-grazing version keeps the ends “blunt” and strong, which creates the appearance of density rather than allowing wispy ends to disappear into the rest of the cut.

Rivera recommends a root-boosting spray before styling, followed by a paddle-brush blowout for volume without adding too much curl. That distinction matters, because the goal isn’t big, bouncy hair everywhere, but a little lift up top paired with substantial-looking ends.

It’s sleek, flattering and one of those cuts that makes thin hair look intentionally minimalist rather than lacking in volume.

5. Soft curtain bangs

Underwood explains that they “add visual density right at the hairline and temples,” areas where fine hair can become more noticeable, while also softening the forehead and drawing attention toward the eyes.

The key is keeping them long, blended, and center-parted rather than creating a harsh, heavy fringe. For styling, Underwood recommends using a round brush to pull the bangs “down and out to each side” before finishing with a cool shot to set the shape. It’s a small change that can make the entire haircut feel fuller and more face-framing.

6. Short shag

The short shag takes a slightly different approach to fullness. Instead of creating the illusion with a super-clean perimeter, it uses texture to distract the eye. Underwood explains that the shag’s “deliberately undone, piecey texture disguises gaps between strands far better than a smooth, sleek style would,” which is particularly useful for thin hair.

The jaw-to-shoulder shape gets plenty of choppy layers and a soft fringe, giving the haircut that cool, slightly messy personality that makes flatness much harder to spot. A texturizing spray on damp hair followed by a little light-hold paste through the dry ends brings out those individual pieces. Basically, a little messiness is very much the point.

For styling, she recommends volumizing mousse followed by a round-brush blowout focused primarily on lifting the roots, rather than overworking the ends. In fact, Rivera advises avoiding too much curl at the bottom and making sure the hair is “completely dry” before finishing. The result is simple and strong—the kind of ‘do that lets thin hair look like it has plenty of substance without trying too hard.

How To Talk to Your Stylist About Thinning Hair

Talking about thinning hair with your stylist doesn’t have to feel like a big, awkward reveal. Rivera recommends being upfront and sharing “the historical pattern of your hair,” since knowing how your hair has changed over time gives your stylist a much better starting point. From there, let them work their magic. “Your professional will offer suggestions for your hair type, what you want to achieve and tools to help you,” she explains.

It also helps to come prepared with a few photos of the look you’re after, but don’t feel like you have to dictate exactly how to get there. As Rivera puts it, “I would still recommend showing your stylist what you are wanting to achieve—they will know best how to achieve your expectations.”

Common Maintenance Mistakes That Make Fine Hair Look Sparse

When fine hair starts looking a little more sparse, the culprit may not be the haircut—it could be a few sneaky habits in the routine. Underwood flags “overwashing” as a big one, since washing fine hair every day can strip away the natural oils and texture that help it hold volume.

Every other day, or even every third day with some dry shampoo in between, is often a better move. She also warns against putting “heavy conditioners or oils on the roots,” which can coat the scalp and flatten freshly styled hair almost instantly.

And while brushing may feel harmless, “over-brushing smooths out the very texture that’s doing the visual work of adding fullness,” so fingers or a wide-tooth comb are often the better bet.

Regular trims matter, too—Underwood recommends every six to eight weeks because damaged ends can make fine hair look even sparser. At night, skip tight ponytails and reach for a silk or satin pillowcase to minimize friction and breakage, and pay attention to shampoo, too. “Heavy, ultra-moisturizing formulas” can be way too much for fine strands, while products made specifically for fine or thinning hair are designed to add body without the baggage.

Prince George is officially a boarder at Eton College!

The 13-year-old prince arrived for his first day at Eton accompanied by his mother Kate Middleton and father Prince William.

George’s first day, September 6, also happens to be the fourth anniversary of his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II‘s death.

Kate looked radiant in an emerald green dress by Emilia Wickstead and a chunky chain necklace, which she paired with chocolate brown heels and pantyhose.

Her gold-plated brass chain is by Laura Lombardi and retails at $192.

The princess’s hair was styled into loose curls for the momentous family occasion, which she protected from the UK fall drizzle with an umbrella.

George was all smiles as he met with Eton’s headmaster and the school’s Provost in the school’s cobbled courtyard.

The young future king, who is second in line to the throne, was dressed in a suit, shirt and tie to match his dad’s outfit.

New photos released later in the day revealed that George had changed into Eton’s famous uniform of a black tailcoat, black waistcoat, black pin-striped trousers and a detachable white collar.

He looked strikingly similar to pictures of William when he was a student at Eton 31 years ago.

Prince George Follows in Prince William’s Footsteps

It wasn’t confirmed until fairly recently that George would be attending Eton this fall. There were strong suggestions that Kate was against the idea, and would have preferred her eldest son to attend the co-ed school of Marlborough, where she herself was educated.

But although Marlborough is prestigious it is nowhere near as elite as Eton, and by becoming an Etonian George is following in the footsteps of both his father William and his uncle Prince Harry.

When William started at Eton in 1995 he was memorably photographed signing the school register with his parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana looking on, as well as his younger brother Harry.

Although George will be boarding at the school, his family’s home of Forest Lodge is only a 15-minute drive away.

Forest Lodge is in the grounds of Windsor Castle, which is one of King Charles III‘s official residences, so it seems likely that George will make a habit of swinging by the castle for tea with his grandfather the king—much as William used to travel from Eton to Windsor to visit his grandmother the queen.

What Will Prince George’s Life at Eton Be Like?

Eton has many rules and codes of conduct that students are expected to follow.

For example, George will be expected to prove on his first day at the school that he has memorized the set of colors for each of Eton’s 25 boarding houses.

Every school day begins with 10 minutes of chapel, followed by seven lessons and two hours of intensive sport.

Although William and Kate are reported to have fought for even more privacy for their son than William had during his time at Eton, George is still at risk of having his privacy invaded due to the prevalence of phone cameras and smart glasses, not to mention the tourists who visit the town of Eton who will be eager to snap a pic of the future king.

In 2022, Ryan Murphy brought the story of Jeffrey Dahmer to life on Netflix. And its popularity had the streamer deciding, much like the killers highlighted in Monster, to go serial. So far, viewers have been captivated by the tales of Dahmer, the Menendez Brothers, and Ed Gein. And Season 4 is taking us back the furthest in time, all the way to the late 1800s to a criminal incident so memorable, it’s earned its own schoolyard rhyme.

The latest group of episodes will dive deep into the life of Lizzie Borden, who was accused of killing her father and stepmother on Aug. 4, 1892. Earlier this year, we sadly had to say slán to Outlander, capping off an incredible eight seasons across twelve years. But if you’re already craving some more sweeping Scottish vistas and romantic dramatics, you won’t have to do much time traveling. Blood of My Blood, the first-ever Outlander spinoff, explores the twin tales of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp’s parents, hopping between 18th-century Scotland and 20th-century England. As Season 2 arrives, one question lies at the front of our berets: Much like Claire and Jamie proper, could we possibly see their own flesh and blood converging timelines as well?

Survivor 51 (CBS): Sept. 23 The cast of ‘Survivor 51’

Earlier this year, Survivor celebrated a massive milestone, hitting a whopping 50 seasons on the air. In honor of the occasion, the hit CBS reality series brought back two dozen players from the past 26 years, serving as one of the show’s most talked-about installments to date. It’s admittedly a tough act to follow, and producers have decided to do so by kicking off a brand-new era for the series. Survivor 51 officially starts the “open era,” as any previous idol, advantage, or overall twist can be unveiled at any point in time.

To showcase how unconventional this phase can be, the season sports a historic 21 new players, ranging from a former Grey’s Anatomy star to a professional wrestler to a whopping three farmers. But no matter what their background or their level of Survivor knowledge, they — and we — truly have no idea what Jeff Probst and company have in store for the next era of the greatest game on Earth.

Fifteen years ago, Ryan Murphy opened the doors to a murder house. And the rest is history. When American Horror Story dropped back in 2011, it became an instant sensation, lauded for its superstar ensemble cast and true commitment to all things freaky. Across twelve seasons, Murphy and company have taken us all through space and time, from the Salem witch trials to a 1950s circus to a 1980s summer camp. A huge array of stars have come through to lend their talents, most prominently standouts like Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Jessica Lange (the latter of whom won an Emmy for the show). And many of them will be appearing in the upcoming Season 13, which serves as the ultimate crossover for the AHS universe. While movie fans are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday later this year, some people can check out their own supernatural crossover event happening a couple of months earlier.

S.W.A.T. Exiles (STARZ): Sept. 25 Shemar Moore as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson

For eight years, S.W.A.T. could not be swatted away. The Shemar Moore-led drama held on for dear life to the CBS primetime schedule, surviving multiple cancellations and subsequent reversals and renewals of said cancellations. Finally, on May 16, 2025, the show seemingly found its resting place. But if the procedural has proved anything over the years, you can’t keep a good Hondo down. Moving the action to STARZ, S.W.A.T. Exiles pulls the former LAPD leader out of forced retirement, tasked with leading a ragtag experimental unit made up of untested, unruly recruits. It’s a perfect representation of where the S.W.A.T. franchise currently stands, as Moore hopes to bridge a generation gap, creating a new chapter for his star-making role.

Earlier this year, Yellowstone fans got to see Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) wear a brand-new hat, as the rancher and former Navy SEAL became one of the Montana Marshals. And, after a blockbuster first season on CBS, the spinoff is already back in the saddle to come back this fall. Season 2 will pick up from the pulse-pounding shootout cliffhanger that left multiple marshals’ lives hanging in the balance. But it seems like everyone on the team is still in attendance, including Cruz (Ash Santos), despite her saying her goodbyes at the end of last season. With Tate’s (Brecken Merrill) betrayal causing a rift between father and son, it seems Kayce has plenty of chaos to deal with both at home and on his home turf. And we’re loving every minute of it.

NCIS: New York (CBS): Oct. 6 LL COOL J as Sam Hanna in ‘NCIS: New York’

NCIS spinoffs lately have had their hits (the Gibbs prequel Origins) and misses (the one-and-done Paramount+ series Tony & Ziva). But CBS is hoping a trip out east will fall squarely into the latter — and it helps to have a familiar face. NCIS: New York will take Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) from coast-to-coast, as he returns to his hometown of the Big Apple to lead a brand-new team. While LL is the only actor reprising his role, he’ll be joined by plenty of notable names, including Scott Caan and Jennifer Beals. But, given how many crossovers exist in the NCIS universe, we wouldn’t be surprised at all that some high-profile cameos will show up in a New York minute.

Carrie (Prime Video): Oct. 7 Summer H. Howell as Carrie in ‘Carrie’

Mike Flanagan is the proverbial prom king of televised horror. After hitting it big with The Haunting of Hill House, the director has gone on to create four more projects for Netflix, including Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher. Now Flanagan has transferred to a new streaming school as he gives another iconic horror property a new life: Carrie. Based on the novel of the same name that launched Stephen King’s career, Summer H. Howell takes a turn as the titular teen who contends with both rampant high school bullying and the emergence of telekinetic powers. Admittedly, it will be tough to top the Sissy Spacek film adaptation from 50 years ago. But if there’s anyone we can trust to give a bloody good new spin on one of horror’s most iconic characters, it’s Mike Flanagan.

For five years, Ghosts has given (after)life to comedy on CBS, as the adaptation of the hit British series has become one of the network’s most popular shows. Unfortunately, it will be a bit of time before we check back in with the denizens of Woodstone Manor, as the show isn’t set to return until midseason (save a couple of holiday specials). Luckily, another supernatural series has appeared in its place, courtesy of the same showrunner. Eternally Yours focuses on a married vampire couple played by Ed Weeks and Allegra Edwards who are well past the seven-year itch. The two are brought out of their stupor, however, when their daughter Emma (Helen J. Shen) begins to romance a human (Jaren Lewison). Hopefully the new series will have a “fang-tastic” reception and not serve as a nail in the coffin for renewal prospects.

Crystal Lake (Peacock): Oct. 15 Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees in ‘Crystal Lake’

In 1980, the face of horror was changed forever with a singular hockey mask. Friday the 13th introduced us to Jason Voorhees and his penchant for murdering teenagers, producing twelve films and myriad Halloween costumes. People may not remember, however, that Jason was not the killer in the original movie; rather his mother, Pamela Voorhees, was slaughtering youths as revenge for her child. Crystal Lake, a new Peacock prequel, will shine a spotlight on the matriarch, grieving her son’s alleged death as the town seemingly moves on from the tragedy. Things are far from returning to the status quo, however, when a series of bodies begin turning up, uncovering her dark history in the process. With Linda Cardellini anchoring the series, horror fans will be thrilled about getting a deep dive into the demented, depraved woman who would kick off one of the most iconic pop culture franchises ever.

The Diplomat Season 4 (Netflix): Oct. 15 Keri Russell as Kate Wyler (L) and Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler (R) in ‘The Diplomat’

If you’re getting too beleaguered by political machinations and tense international relations in our modern-day society, you can always turn to a slightly less dramatic version on Netflix. Over three seasons, The Diplomat has put Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) into a series of conflicts that span not only our country, but the entire world. Last year, Kate — and the audience — got brought fully into the White House inner circle, as new president Grace Hagan Penn (Allison Janney), and her mysterious intentions, entered the Oval Office. In one of her first maneuvers as Commander-in-Chief, she’s kept the Wylers at arm’s reach, making Hal (Rufus Sewell) her Vice President and co-conspirator. Season 4 will continue to build on the foursome of Kate, Hal, Grace, and First Gentleman Todd (Bradley Whitford), as the Americans’ conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon could spark World War III. No matter what happens globally, things are about to go nuclear.

The One About Matthew Perry (Netflix): Oct. 27 Matthew Perry

In 2023, the world was rocked by the death of Friends star Matthew Perry, who passed from acute effects of ketamine use, along with accidental drowning. And three years after the shocking loss, Netflix is bringing the first-ever in-depth documentary about the late actor. The One About Matthew Perry is a three-part series covering the tumultuous life of the Emmy nominee, anchored by testimonies from his lifelong best friends and sister Mia Perry Bowick. Featuring unreleased photos and videos from the family’s private archive, it follows Perry’s roller coaster life, from his meteoric rise to one of TV’s favorite comedic stars to his private struggles with addiction. As Perry Bowlick puts it, “I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was, and the legacy he leaves behind.”

The Gilded Age Season 4 (HBO): Nov. 1 Carrie Coon as Bertha Russell (L) and Morgan Spector as George Russell (R) in ‘The Gilded Age’

The day after Halloween is typically one to pack up the costumes for another year. But, on HBO, The Gilded Age will keep supplying us with beautiful gowns straight out of the 1880s. Season 4 of the period drama will see Bertha (Carrie Coon) reconciling with the unconventional choices she’s made, her position in society jeopardized. And Agnes (Christine Baranski) is not helping the cause, eager to find her way back into a position of power. One of the most heralded parts of The Gilded Age is its voluminous ensemble, as Marian (Louisa Jacobson), Peggy (Denée Benton), and Ada (Cynthia Nixon) all attempt to navigate an ever-changing world. And Season 4 aims to bring even more into the fold, including comedian Jim Gaffigan, Tony Award winner Bonnie Milligan, and Tony nominee Taylor Trensch.

Ten years ago, we lost Muhammad Ali, arguably one of the most famous athletes to ever walk the planet, let alone enter the ring. Surprisingly, despite his legendary career, there’s never been a television series made about his incredibly eventful life. But Ben Watkins, the showrunner of Prime Video’s Cross, is taping up to take on such a feat. The Greatest tells the story of Cassius Clay as he works through bouts both in and out of gloves in his quest to become, indeed, the greatest. With a starmaking turn from Jaalen Best as Ali, the episodes will be sure to float like a butterfly, with enough emotional wallops to sting like a bee.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 (Prime Video): Nov. 11 Morfydd Clark as Galadriel (L) and Charlie Vickers as Sauron (R) in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’

Almost a decade ago, in what seems like a completely different age of men, Amazon acquired the television rights for The Lord of the Rings properties from the estate of author J.R.R. Tolkien. In exchange, the company committed at least five seasons and $1 billion, making it far and away the most expensive TV show ever made. All that is to say, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power isn’t reaching its conclusion anytime soon. But that’s not to say that we still can’t be excited for everything we’re about to see go down amongst the massive swath of characters and stories dotted across Middle-Earth.

Season 3 picks up five years after the last episode, as the Elves are caught up in a feverish war with the Dark Lord Sauron (Charlie Vickers), having created a safe haven to the north in Rivendell. Sauron’s focus, however, lies with the creation of a set of rings, and more specifically, one to rule them all. With the original Lord of the Rings films celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, there’s no better way to celebrate a birthday than with a new series of adventures from some familiar faces, including Gandalf, Galadriel, and Elrond.

The Good Daughter (Peacock): Nov. 12 Rose Byrne as Samantha Quinn (L) and Meghann Fahy as Charlotte Quinn (R) in ‘The Good Daughter’

We’re always a sucker for anything involving some powerhouse performances, a broken family, and a mystery to solve. Luckily, Karin Slaughter brought all three together in the TV adaptation of her novel The Good Daughter. Sisters Samantha (Rose Byrne) and Charlotte (Meghann Fahy) have spent 20 years trying to dissect one night of violence that forever changed their lives. But a blast from the past arrives in the most unexpected way, when another attack in their small town has Charlotte as the first witness on the scene. Over the course of the six-episode series, the siblings will essentially crack two mysteries at once, trying to uncover truth in the present while incidentally digging up bodies of the past — perhaps quite literally.

Yellowjackets Season 4 (Paramount+): Nov. 20 Melanie Lynskey as Shauna in ‘Yellowjackets’

In 1996, a high school girls’ soccer team had their travel plans to a national championship derailed when their plane crashed in the Canadian wilderness. In 2026, their story finally comes to an end. Yellowjackets was one of the buzziest shows when it debuted, using a Lost-like flashback structure to show how a select number of the girls survived the ordeal, and the weight they still carry from that experience to this day.

The fourth and final season attempts to bring the stories of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa (Tawny Cypress) and Misty (Christina Ricci) to a close. In the past, rescue seems imminent, as reality begins to settle in and the girls attempt to both physically and emotionally bury their dirty deeds. While in the present, Shauna is attempting to reclaim the power she felt out in the wild, no matter what blood may be spilled to get it. Featuring appearances from Elijah Wood, Hilary Swank, June Squibb, and Molly Ringwald, we shall see if the stinger at the end of Yellowjackets comes with a definitive queen bee.

Blade Runner 2099 (Prime Video): Nov. 25 Michelle Yeoh as Olwen (L) and Hunter Schafer as Cora (R) in ‘Blade Runner 2099’

Ever since Blade Runner hit theaters back in 1982, fans of the hit sci-fi movie have shed plenty of tears in the rain, waiting for more stories from the gritty, dystopian future. And while we were treated to just that with the sequel Blade Runner 2049 in 2017, Amazon is jumping 50 more years into the future and bringing the bots to the small screen. Blade Runner 2099 drops us in a time when the robotic Replicants have risen up, rendering humans second-class citizens. Olwen (Michelle Yeogh), a Replicant Blade Runner near the end of her life, is partnered with Cora (Hunter Schafer), who is actually a human masquerading as artificial intelligence, to take down a group of rebellious Replicants. Given the great talent involved, as well as support from Ridley Scott himself, the new Prime Video series has the perfect circuitry and wires to become your newest sci-fi obsession.

The Hunting Wives Season 2 (Netflix): Nov. 27 (L to R) Malin Akerman as Margo, Brittany Snow as Sophie in ‘The Hunting Wives’

One of Netflix’s buzziest shows of 2025 took us out to East Texas and the dramatic, dangerous clique known as The Hunting Wives. Over the course of the first season, we watched Sophie (Brittany Snow) get introduced to and subsequently wrapped up in the web of socialite Margo (Malin Akerman), as the two become friends, co-conspirators — and lovers. Season 2 of the drama will pick up with the women keeping their distance, however, with Margo’s husband Jed (Dermot Mulroney) seeking political office. It’s not long, however, before they’re drawn back into each other’s orbit, as old secrets and new foes make them wonder if they may take a turn at being the hunted. Dropping all of its episodes on Thanksgiving Day, you can digest all the deep-fried turkey by binging another Southern guilty pleasure.

When Sir Tom Jones was abruptly dropped from The Voice UK after 14 seasons as a coach, the decision blindsided the legendary entertainer.

Fans were left stunned that a musical titan with over six decades of chart-topping hits could be dismissed so suddenly. Especially from a show where his legendary vocals and genuine warmth had made him an instant fan favorite.

Reflecting on his sudden departure, the powerhouse vocalist released a social media statement where he pulled no punches.

He posted to Facebook, “To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience. ITV made this decision — obviously a while ago, and I was told just recently.”

Jones continued, “The reason given is because of a financial difficulty with insurance. They now say in the press they wanted to ‘refresh’ the show, and with a new coaching line-up there wouldn’t be a chair for me.”

He concluded, “They are offering a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I’m not thrilled about that. So the only thing I know right now is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job.”

Fans responded to the announcement with shock and disdain.

“Well, I don’t want to watch it anymore. You were phenomenal on that show, as you were in St. Anne’s Park in Dublin, and every time I’ve seen you since. The Tom Jones Show when I was a kid. The best. Sir Tom. The very best,” declared one fan.

A second follower penned, “No way this has to be a joke right? Well when you leave my screen from the voice that’s one viewer less with me! I only watch the show to see Tom and hoping to hear him sing as he has such a lovely voice and is charming with it too! ITV will soon bring you back when they see the ratings drop! Hopefully people will boycott the show to get them to bring Tom back where he belongs!”

“You are the main judge in my eyes and awesome in what you do. I’m sure they will lose lots of viewers without you on the show. Keep your head up high, lovely man. I’m sure you will get another break with your talent. Your world is your oyster. God bless, lots of love, Sir Tom,” wrote a third Facebook follower of the entertainer.

According to Deadline, the entertainer has been a coach since the series premiered on the BBC in 2012. Season 14 is currently airing.

In 1967, Bob Dylan released John Wesley Harding, a stark, country-influenced album that marked another musical turn for the legendary singer-songwriter. Its final track, “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight,” would eventually become one of those Dylan songs that seemed to belong to everyone.

The tender love song attracted an extraordinary assortment of performers over the decades, including Bobby Darin, Anne Murray, Engelbert Humperdinck, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Hank Williams Jr., Kris Kristofferson and the Hollies.

Even Goldie Hawn recorded it.

And 24 years after Dylan’s original arrived, “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” went all the way to No. 1 thanks to an unlikely pairing of artists.

Dylan recorded “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” with a small group of Nashville musicians, including Pete Drake on pedal steel guitar, Charlie McCoy on bass and Kenneth Buttrey on drums. McCoy and Buttrey had also contributed to Dylan’s 1966 album Blonde on Blonde.

The song appeared as the closing track on John Wesley Harding, which Dylan recorded following his 1966 motorcycle accident.

Rolling Stone later ranked John Wesley Harding No. 337 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, describing the record as a sharp turn toward “country fables and stark mystic folkways.” The magazine noted that its stripped-down sound represented Dylan once again rejecting contemporary musical trends and going his own way.

“I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” provides a warm sendoff to an album filled with considerably more mysterious characters and imagery. Dylan’s narrator offers reassurance and companionship, encouraging someone to put aside their worries for the night.

Dylan apparently didn’t leave the song behind in the ’60s, either. He first performed it in concert at the 1969 Isle of Wight Festival with the Band and has gone on to perform it more than 650 times.

“I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” quickly took on a life beyond Dylan’s recording.

One particularly unexpected version came from Hawn, who recorded the song for her sole studio album Goldie, released in 1972.

By then, Hawn was already famous for Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, but Goldie found the actress trying her hand at country-tinged pop with a rather remarkable collection of songwriters.

Dylan wasn’t the only legend represented. Hawn also covered Joni Mitchell’s “Carey,” Dolly Parton’s “My Blue Tears” and Van Morrison’s “I Wanna Roo You.”

In his retrospective AllMusic review, Stewart Mason described Goldie as a “sweetly endearing country-tinged” pop album, arguing that its material generally played to Hawn’s vocal strengths. In other words, what could easily have been a celebrity novelty record turned out to have considerably more going for it.

But Hawn was only one of the many artists who found something of their own in “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight.”

More than two decades after Dylan introduced the song, British singer Robert Palmer teamed up with reggae band UB40 to reinvent “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight.”

Their version was released in 1990 and appeared on Palmer’s album Don’t Explain. The reggae-flavored rendition became an international success, reaching No. 6 in both the United Kingdom and Ireland and hitting the top five in Australia, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Then, in February 1991, it reached No. 1 in New Zealand, 24 years after Dylan’s original release.

It’s an impressive second life for a song tucked at the end of a 1967 Dylan album. But perhaps its longevity shouldn’t be surprising. “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” has traveled remarkably well, moving from Dylan’s spare Nashville recording to Hawn’s country-pop experiment to Palmer and UB40’s reggae interpretation.

More than half a century later, all those radically different versions also demonstrate something about Dylan’s songwriting: Give the same song to enough artists, and each can somehow find a different way to make it their own.

It hasn’t been all fun and games for Lucci in recent years. The actress lost her beloved husband, Helmut Huber, in March 2022. In her recent memoir, La Lucci, which was released on Feb. 3, Lucci shared that she never fully understood the depth of grief until she experienced it herself.

“I realized that grief is not something you can really understand until you go through it — until you experience it. Until it’s your grief and you’re sitting in the front row at the funeral,” she writes in the new memoir, AARP reported. “I spent the whole month of March with Helmut, and I am forever grateful for the time I had with him every day. I felt lucky to share that time together.”

Announced on Tuesday, the former talk show host has landed the role of the Genie in Aladdin — and she will be the first woman to ever take up the part.

“I’ve taken my family, my nieces and nephews, to see this musical and I never dreamed that I would one day be a part of the ‘Aladdin’ family. So I am beyond thrilled,” she told The Associated Press.

Shepherd will be starring in the show from Oct. 16 to Jan. 3.

And although this isn’t her first time on Broadway — she was the evil Stepmother in Cinderella in 2014 — she told AP that she’s not only taking voice lessons to prepare, but she’s tapping her theater friends for advice.

“I’m talking to my friends, Kristin Chenoweth; Steven Boyer, who was in Kimberly Akimbo, Wayne Brady — anybody I know who has been on Broadway,” she said. “I am calling them up going, ‘Help me, help me, help me’ and getting a lot of advice.”

The show, which first opened in 2014, is a stage adaptation of the 1992 film with slight changes to the story — where the main character uses the magic lamp to grant his wish of charming the princess — adjusting for an in-person theater experience. Original Broadway cast member James Monroe Iglehart played Genie when the show first opened and won the Tony for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Typically categorized as a children’s show, Shepherd noted the significance of how her being the first female to play the part could be an example for the musical’s young audience.

“I want the children to see the possibilities,” she said. “I want the little girls to say, ‘Oh yeah. I know I used to dress as a princess, but I could be the Genie. I can make wishes come true. Maybe I could be president.’”

While Shepherd is gearing up for her Broadway return, she’ll also be returning to The View to mark the talk show’s 30th season.

When Pretty Woman swept into theaters in 1990, no one predicted that a last-minute addition to the movie’s soundtrack would become a classic.

The 1990 romantic comedy turned Julia Roberts into a superstar, but its soundtrack was an equally big deal. Tucked into one of the movie’s quietest scenes was an upbeat song by British duo Go West.

Instead of fading into the background, the track, heard during the film’s opening, gave moviegoers a chance to hear every beat. This allowed “King of Wishful Thinking” to become a massive radio hit and one of the band’s biggest songs.

Originally, the song wasn’t even meant to be on the Pretty Woman album. Go West was signed to EMI America, and the record label saw the soundtrack as a prime opportunity to highlight its star-studded music roster. The initial lineup already featured heavyweights like Roxette, Natalie Cole, Robert Palmer, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and David Bowie.

In an interview with News.com.au, Peter Cox (one-half of Go West with Richard Drummie) revealed, “They paid Robert Palmer a lot of money for his song ‘Life in Detail.’ I think they wanted ‘Addicted to Love Part 2.’ Instead, they got something very different. We had a more commercial song, so we got promoted up the ladder.”

He continued, “It’s the first song in the film. And it’s over a section of the film where there’s no dialogue, so you hear the words of the film and an entire chorus, which is quite unusual and very lucky for us.”

Cox concluded, “We didn’t have any idea what the movie was about from a politically correct point of view. It does seem an odd film for women to embrace and love. It’s almost as if it’s on a loop on TV; you can always tune into it. Very fortunately for us that’s a beautiful thing; people are still hearing our song.”

The song’s title came after Cox overheard Drummie saying the band was “the kings of wishful thinking” while hanging out in a bar with members of Robert Palmer’s band, per News.com.au. Before “King of Wishful Thinking” hit the Pretty Woman soundtrack in 1990, Go West were already major stars in the UK and Europe, with songs such as “We Close Our Eyes” and “Call Me.”

According to Songfacts, the film raked in $178 million at the box office and became the most iconic rom-com of the decade. Its popularity helped push “King of Wishful Thinking” to the No. 8 position on the Billboard Top 100.

Thirty-six years after their breakout Pretty Woman track, Go West hasn’t slowed down. Vocalist Peter Cox and rhythm guitarist Richard Drummie are still out on the road.

It’s been a long road for Guthrie this year as she’s returned to Today while navigating her mother’s disappearance. Before her big return in April, Guthrie sat down for an interview with her close friend and colleague, Hoda Kotb. In the interview, Guthrie shared that she was apprehensive, but hopeful, about returning.

“I don’t know if I can do it,” Guthrie said to Kotb. “I don’t know if I’ll belong anymore, but I would like to try. I would like to try.”

Billy Joel is breaking his silence over the recent death of his longtime friend and collaborator, Jon Small.

Taking to social media to mourn his lifelong friend, Joel posted multiple pictures of himself and Small throughout their careers on Instagram. The influential music giant succinctly captioned the slideshow with the comment, “RIP Jon Small.”

Referring back to their earlier career, Small was instrumental in helping Joel first break into the music industry back in the 1960s. At the time, he recruited Joel into the rock band the Hassles.

“With all bands, you always have arguments about the creative way you’re going,” Small said in the documentary. “Amongst the Hassles, only Billy and I were as serious. Me and Billy, we were in sync and the other guys weren’t. And then we realized that we didn’t need the other guys. So we left the Hassles.”

Interestingly, in that same documentary, Small also reflected on the momentary tension he experienced with Joel owing to the love triangle formed between the two musicians and Small’s then wife, Elizabeth.

“Elizabeth was very important to me, but I think I was not the guy she hoped I would be,” Small said. “I kept seeing that Billy was not the same guy. Something was the matter. And Billy one day came up to me, became a little honest, and said to me, ‘I’m in love with your wife.’ So it was a very devastating thing for me, because these were basically my two best friends.”

At 93, Ellen Burstyn isn’t simply looking back on an extraordinary acting career. She’s still adding to it. The Oscar winner has two projects at this year’s Venice Film Festival, Place to Be and Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s short film Flesh Impact, while also receiving a lifetime achievement honor.

But after more than six decades in the business, Burstyn has a perspective few actresses can offer. Speaking at Venice, she reflected on how dramatically opportunities for women have changed since she entered an industry where men held nearly every position of power. And her career offers an interesting measure of both how far Hollywood has come and how much work remains.

Ellen Burstyn Has Watched Hollywood Change From the Inside

When Burstyn began acting, she said women were largely relegated to jobs such as script supervisor, hairdresser and makeup artist, while men dominated the rest of a film set. Today, she sees women working throughout productions.

“Women are everywhere now,” Burstyn said, according to Reuters.

She credits the women’s movement with helping transform the industry and recalled meeting Gloria Steinem during the 1970s. Burstyn also played a part in changing how women appeared onscreen.

Her performance in 1974’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress. Burstyn told reporters that the film was significant because it depicted a woman taking responsibility for her own life rather than depending on a man to rescue her.

More than 50 years later, Burstyn isn’t being relegated to ceremonial appearances celebrating what she did decades ago. She’s still working.

In Place to Be, she stars as an elderly woman traveling from Chicago to New York with a middle-aged man to return a lost racing pigeon. In Flesh Impact, she portrays an imagined 100-year-old Marilyn Monroe.

For an actress who began working when women’s opportunities both in front of and behind the camera were considerably narrower, simply remaining creatively active at 93 says something about what’s possible now.

Hollywood’s Progress for Women Is Still Complicated

Burstyn herself acknowledged that Hollywood hasn’t reached gender equality, and this year’s Venice Film Festival provides a striking example.

Of the 21 films competing for the Golden Lion, only one fiction film is directed solely by a woman, May el-Toukhy‘s Woman Unknown. Another competition documentary has a female co-director.

Gyllenhaal, who is serving as jury president, called the disparity a “systemic problem,” arguing that female filmmakers continue to face difficulties getting their stories financed and treated as serious art.

El-Toukhy made a similar point, telling Reuters that women still have to work harder to obtain opportunities and funding.

That makes Burstyn’s career an interesting contradiction.

She has lived through enormous progress. Women now direct, produce, write and occupy positions on film sets that were overwhelmingly held by men when her career began. An actress can also arrive at one of cinema’s biggest festivals at 93 with new work to promote rather than simply a career to remember.

But the same festival honoring Burstyn’s longevity is also confronting questions about why so few women are directing its most prestigious films.

Burstyn’s career proves Hollywood can change. Her continued presence at 93 may be one of the clearest examples of that progress.

The industry around her also shows that the change isn’t finished yet.

Elon Musk’s ex Ashley St. Clair is speaking out about her decision not to sign her former partner’s alleged NDA agreement that would have granted her a whopping $40 million payday.

According to Variety, St. Clair, who gave birth to Musk’s 13th child last year, revealed that her decision not to sign the NDA helped her speak about her ex in the new documentary Musk.

“When you are offered something like that, it creates a debate about what your speech means and how valuable that is,” St. Claire said at the recent Venice Film Festival press conference for Musk. “Why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak?”

Explaining the further circumstances of her decision, St. Clair said that she settled on appearing in the documentary to “set the example for my kids that we should never take being materially comfortable that we’re speaking the truth.”

The media influencer is also reflecting on the right wing politics she espoused that helped gain her national exposure, namely for her conservative and anti-trans beliefs (both of which she said she regretted voicing).

“I got involved with Republican politics when I was 18 after I met Charlie Kirk, and there was an air of ignorance,” said the 28-year-old St. Clair. “But that ignorance does not excuse any role in that. I hope the risk that I’m taking now in speaking out and trying to fight back at least helps a little bit.”

Musk is set to premiere this Tuesday, acting as a documentary that reveals that the “so-called ‘visionary genius’ is little more than the 21st-century reincarnation of a confidence man,” the movie’s synopsis reads.

As the movie’s director Alex Gibney said, St. Clair was one of the few people close to Musk who agreed to participate in the nearly four hour long documentary.

“The thing that struck me most, particularly early on, there was a tremendous sense of fear of talking — both among people who were his critics, colleagues and friends,” Gibney said. “I talked to many, many, many people. Many declined to speak.”

When it comes to Tom Hanks movies, there are a few from the 1990s that will stand out. Many of them land on multiple lists of best movies of all time, and yet, there is one that falls short on one particular list. The Green Mile, which is considered one of the best Stephen King adaptations, only scored 78% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on the novel of the same name, The Green Mile sits at No. 25 on the IMDb list of best movies of all time. Yet, when it comes to the Rotten Tomatoes list, it falls short, and that’s due to its lower rating. While audiences give it a 94% score, the critics weren’t as impressed with the storytelling.

Matt Brunson shared that “There are several scenes of tremendous power. But the same problems that plagued The Shawshank Redemption are in full force here,” while Derek Adams shared, “The supernatural elements carry an undeniable emotional charge, but the solution to the underlying murder mystery is disappointingly tidy and trite.”

Yet, it’s a story that King himself was happy to see developed. He believes it’s one of the strongest adaptations of his work, and it’s likely why audiences resonate with it so well. The Master of Horror even visited the set and sat in “Old Sparky,” only to ask to leave the chair a few minutes later because it felt so eerily uncomfortable.

The casting of John Coffey is one of the more interesting points about the movie, as it was something The Green Mile had to get right. Many will want to thank Bruce Willis for the movie for finding the perfect man. He’d just come off the back of filming Armageddon with Michael Clarke Duncan, and when he learned that director Frank Darabont was struggling to find someone to take on the iconic role, he suggested the man who will go down as the perfect one for the job.

Duncan had shared in an interview at the time that he prayed to get the role, and he had faith that he could do it. When it came to acting opposite Hanks, he only had great things to say, sharing, “He makes it so easy for you. You look at him, and you say, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do our close-ups, and I’m with a two-time Academy Award winner.’ You know he knows his stuff. That’s automatic.”

He continued saying, “What you have to do is you have to learn from this gut. It’s like playing with Michael Jordan and Michael Finley. You learn by playing with them. You don’t take over. ‘I can do that.’ I never thought.”

He made sure to ask Hanks questions about how to be a better actor, and some of that meant working well with the rest of the cast and crew.

Duncan wasn’t quite as tall as he seems on the film. He was only five inches taller than Hanks, and to make him look so much more menacing and threatening (at first), camera angles were used to make him look taller and larger.

The Green Mile likely isn’t the horror that many would expect from King, but the author isn’t just known for his ability to write scary stories. He also writes those that are thought-provoking and meaningful, and that’s something this novel offered, with the movie getting the balance just right.

The downside is that The Green Mile isn’t currently available to stream for free anywhere. You’ll need to buy it digitally via Prime Video, Apple TV, or wherever you get your digital copies.
