Amazon’s ‘Soft’ and ‘Breathable’ $8 Tank Top Is a ‘Summer Staple,’ and It Comes in 35 Colors

When you’re building a capsule wardrobe, one of the most important pieces to have on hand is a reliable everyday tank top. It’s one of those staples you can throw on without thinking, and you’ll probably end up wearing it more often than you expect. While it’s easy to assume basics need to be expensive to look polished, there are plenty of affordable options that still feel elevated and well made.
The Anrabess Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank Top is a great example of that balance. Right now, it’s on sale for 46% off on Amazon, bringing the price down from $15 to just $8. That makes it an easy addition to your wardrobe, especially if you’re looking to stock up on essentials ahead of summer.
Anrabess Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank Top, From $8 (was $15) at Amazon Shop at AmazonIt’s available in a wide size range from extra small through 4XL, making it accessible for different body types. The fabric is made from 92% rayon and 8% elastane, giving it a soft feel with a comfortable stretch. It has a medium thickness that keeps it from feeling too sheer, and it’s easy to care for with a gentle cold machine wash.
The fit is slim and designed to be slightly body hugging without feeling restrictive. One standout detail is the vertical ribbed texture, which adds subtle dimension while also enhancing the stretch. It keeps the top from looking too basic, even when you’re styling it in a simple outfit.
The scoop neckline and wide straps are both practical and flattering. The straps are bra-friendly, which makes the tank easier to wear day to day. A thicker binding around the neckline gives it a more structured look, so it feels closer to a polished top rather than something you’d only wear as an undershirt.
This tank fits perfectly into a minimalist capsule wardrobe. It’s simple, versatile, and easy to mix and match with other pieces. While it’s especially useful in the summer on its own, it also works year round. You can layer it under sweaters in the winter, flannels in the fall, or lightweight cardigans in the spring.
With over 400 five-star ratings, shoppers seemed to love it too. One reviewer described it as “simple, comfortable, and versatile,” adding, “The fabric is soft, breathable, and not too thin, which is perfect for layering or wearing on its own.”
Another shopper dubbed it a “summer staple,” writing, “The fit is perfect — it is stretchy, tight, but it is comfortable! You can wear it under a blazer to work or with a pair of jeans shorts on the weekend. They are also extremely comfortable for lounging or even sleeping in.”

‘I’m a Pilates Instructor—These Are the 5 Moves I Give Every Client Who Wants To Lose Weight After 50'
Whether you’re looking to boost muscle definition, burn some calories or a combination of the two, Pilates is a stellar training modality to consider. Doing exercises on the mat and the reformer can strengthen your deep core muscles while improving mobility, flexibility, functional movement and overall mind-body connection. Basically, Pilates is your golden ticket to building a lean, mean physique—and research backs this up. According to a 2021 study published in Frontiers in Physiology, Pilates can result in a significant decrease in both body weight and body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage.
How exactly does Pilates impact the scale? While it can help you build a toned body, it isn’t a “calorie-crunching HIIT class—and thank goodness for that,” notes Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor at OnlinePilatesClasses.com, who has taught thousands of students and trained hundreds of Pilates teachers. It’s effective because it helps sculpt lean muscle, which is incredibly important as you age and we naturally start to lose that muscle mass.
“Muscle is metabolically active—it burns more than fat even when you’re just sitting on the couch. Plus, when you move better, you move more in your daily life. That’s the secret sauce,” explains Logan.
Below, Logan shares with us five moves she gives every client who wants to lose weight after 50—i.e. someone who may have a slower metabolism and is looking to build muscle. Keep in mind that these exercises shouldn’t be performed as a clunky circuit, but rather, they are a flow. Move from one exercise to the next without taking a water break or checking your phone every two minutes, Logan instructs.

The 5 Best Pilates Moves for Weight Loss Over 50, According to an InstructorLogan selected these moves because they fire up the entire body, challenge your heart rate via control rather than chaos, and help tweak your alignment as you work.
She says, “If you’re coming to me for a ‘magic pill’ to drop 20 pounds by Tuesday, you’re in the wrong studio. I’m not about the scale; I’m about how you move through the world.”
When clients 50+ tell Logan their goal is to “lose weight,” they're also typically striving to feel capable in their own skin once again. This means they’re craving a functional transformation. They want to feel firm rather than “soft” and feel confident enough to get up off the ground or carry grocery bags with ease.
“They want the ‘zip’ back in their step, the ‘tone’ in their arms and to stop feeling like their posture is collapsing into their lap,” she tells Parade. “If we want to support a changing body, we don’t need more 'grind,' we need more connection."
Here's how to actually do it.

1. The HundredLogan’s flow begins with the hundred to get your blood pumping—she calls it “internal heat.” If you aren’t breathing deeply during the exercise, you’re not burning.
- Start seated on a yoga mat.
- Roll back, bringing your chin to your chest and hovering your shoulders above the floor.
- Extend your legs to a 45-degree diagonal, bringing them together and pointing your toes.
- Extend your arms out in front of you.
- Keep your lower belly gently drawn in as you swiftly pump your arms.
- Sync your breath in a smooth rhythm, inhaling for 5 seconds and exhaling for 5 seconds. Make sure your abdomen does not protrude.
- Do this 10 times (one full inhale and one full exhale counts as 1 rep).
Related: Exactly How Often You Need To Do Pilates To Reduce Belly Fat, According to Instructors
2. Abdominals“This is the ultimate stamina builder. It forces the core to support the limbs while they’re in motion—that’s where the ‘tone’ happens,” Logan says.
In a typical Pilates abdominal series, you’d likely perform exercises like the double-leg stretch, single-leg stretch, single straight-leg stretch, double straight-leg stretch and criss-cross—so take your pick. Here's how to do the criss-cross:
- Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and forming a tabletop position.
- Place your hands lightly behind your head.
- Lift your head, neck and shoulders, activating your core.
- Extend one of your legs out straight to a 45-degree angle.
- Rotate your torso, bringing your opposite elbow to meet the bent knee.
- Switch sides, extending the other leg and rotating your torso toward the opposite knee.
“Most people over 50 lose lateral stability. This shapes the hips and glutes, which are your biggest metabolic engines,” Logan explains.
- Begin by lying on one side with your body, forming a straight line from head to feet.
- Rest your head on your bottom hand.
- Position your top hand in front of you for balance.
- Bring both legs slightly in front of your hips to form a 30 to 45-degree angle.
- Brace your core as you lift the top leg to hip level.
- Use control as you slowly kick that leg forward.
- Then, sweep the leg back behind you.
- Repeat on the other side after completing all prescribed reps.

4. Swan“We spend too much time hunched. To look and feel leaner, we have to open the front body. It strengthens the back and improves the ‘long’ look everyone wants,” Logan notes.
- Start by lying face down on a mat with your legs extended behind you, hip-distance apart.
- Place your hands below your shoulders with your elbows bent and close to the sides of your body.
- Press the tops of your feet into the floor to gently activate your buttocks.
- Bring your shoulders down and back, maintaining a long neck like a swan.
- Inhale as you begin to lift your chest.
- During the lift, gently press your hands into the mat.
- Take a deep breath out as you slowly lower back to the ground.

5. The Seal“It looks fun, but it’s all about control and massage. It’s the perfect way to find your center and finish with a bit of joy,” Logan says.
- Begin seated on a mat with your knees bent and feet lifted off the ground, finding your balance right behind your sitbones.
- Open your knees just a bit and bring your arms inside your legs.
- Hold onto the outsides of your feet or ankles.
- Maintain a tall chest and braced core as you hold this rounded position.
- Take a deep breath in and roll back onto your shoulders.
- Exhale as you roll forward to return to the start position.
These exercises work together by challenging the core while the rest of your body offers resistance. By dedicating just 15 to 20 minutes a day to this flow, you’re reaping all the mind-body benefits Pilates has to offer.

Carnival’s Brand Ambassador Roasts the ‘Very Sad’ Trend of Working From Sea
The "Zoom background" has officially reached its final, slightly tragic evolution. While many of us have spent the last few years trying to convince our bosses that we aren't working from a beach chair, a growing number of travelers are actually doing it—and Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald has some hilariously blunt thoughts on the matter.
In a recent Facebook Live "3-Minute" video, Heald addressed a note from a cruiser named Jordan who lamented the lack of professional office space on board. "I cruise a lot, John, and I spend my time working," Jordan wrote, adding that "the new working from home is working from the ship."
The "Soulless Empty Space"In his signature dry style, Heald didn't just sympathize; he gave us a reality check on what "work-life balance" looks like in 2026. "You’re absolutely right—there are more and more people who are working on the ships now," Heald admitted. "I see it every time I go on board. I see people hunched over the laptop, me included. It's just the way of the world."
While Heald promised to "speak to the beards" (Carnival’s upper management) about adding dedicated business centers, he couldn't help but roast the idea of a corporate cubicle in the middle of a vacation. He suggested that if the demand is there, perhaps the cruise line should provide "a dedicated area where you can have a printer, peace and quiet, and a soulless empty space where you can work." He then added with a wink, "We'll put a box of tissues there so you can cry. Very sad."

The "Steel Drum" HoaxThis debate comes on the heels of a viral hoax involving a remote worker supposedly fired after his employer caught him living on a Carnival ship for 14 months. While the story was a total meme—complete with "steel drum music" accidentally playing in the background of his video calls—it resonated because the "Cruise Office" is no longer a fantasy.
As the viral meme suggested, there’s something inherently funny—and slightly heartbreaking—about trying to maintain a professional "corporate" persona while a steward is making towel animals in the background. Thanks to Starlink, you can run a board meeting from the Lido deck, even if it means trying to look professional while the "Hairy Chest Contest" rages on three feet away.

Is It a Smart Move?Heald’s real lament isn't about the Wi-Fi; it’s about the loss of the real reason you came—an actual vacation. He admitted, "It does make me sad because I wish people could switch off completely from work."
The "Cruise Office" is the ultimate 2026 travel paradox. It’s a game-changer for saving vacation days, but it requires a level of discipline most humans don't possess when a Guy’s Burger Joint is within smelling distance. As Heald implies, the ultimate smart move isn't finding a printer on Deck 9; it’s finally closing the laptop and realizing the only thing you should be "zooming" toward is the nearest sail-away party.

1967 Movie Theme Became a Timeless Classic in Its Own Right — A Haunting Hit From Music Royalty
In 1967, Nancy Sinatra recorded the movie theme song, “You Only Live Twice.” The daughter of legendary Crooner Frank Sinatra followed in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones to release a memorable James Bond theme. “You Only Live Twice” hit No. 3 on the U.S. Easy Listening Chart and No. 44 on the coveted Billboard Hot 100.
Featuring a lush orchestral intro, the movie song was written and composed by Leslie Bricusse and John Barry and reworked by Lee Hazlewood for the single using session musicians. Decades later, Sintra shared on Facebook, “When Lee heard the version of ‘You Only Live Twice’ I recorded in London with John Barry, he said it was great but not very commercial. So, we went into the studio to re-record it with The Wrecking Crew for the single.”
Nancy Sinatra was terrified to record ‘You Only Live Twice’Sinatra was just 26 years old when she recorded “You Only Live Twice.” On the heels of her signature hit “These Boots Are Made for Walkin,’” the young singer was terrified to be involved in the high-profile project at the height of 007 fandom. The recording session required nearly 25 takes before there was enough material for the song, according to Songfacts.
"I was panic-stricken from the very beginning of the whole procedure. I would rather have root canal surgery than go through that again,” Sinatra once said, per MI6.
In an interview with Best Classic Bands, Sinatra explained that she felt the title song was out of her league as a young singer. “I felt it was a huge stretch for me, and I suggested they call Shirley Bassey, who had sung ’Goldfinger,’” she shared. “They wanted me to do it. So, I went to London. We did the initial session with Leslie Bricusse in the booth and John Barry conducting the huge, pretty much symphonic orchestra. …And John wisely said to me after seeing me struggling, ‘Would you like me to record the track, and we’ll do your vocals later?’ And I said, ‘Oh yes, please.’ And that is what we did.“
“Later I found out what they did was they edited different parts of the recording, the overdub sessions, so they could actually have a complete take, because vocally I was just all over the place,” she added. “I was right about not being the right person to sing that thing. But I’m not complaining. It did very well.”

Rave reviewsSinatra’s song is often ranked among the best of all of the Bond movie themes.
Rolling Stone called the 1967 Bond theme “John Barry's finest moment,” while Esquire noted, “Those moody strings that open this tune are a perfect fit for Nancy Sinatra's brooding voice.”
GQ described the violin and horn-heavy opener as “unquestionably iconic,” noting that it surpassed the movie to become “a timeless musical cue.”
“You Only Live Twice” became such a timeless theme that legendary musician Robbie Williams sampled the song for his solo single “Millennium” in 1998. Sinatra’s song was also prominently featured in the Mad Men season 5 finale, “The Phantom,” in 2012.

'80s Timeless Classic Officially Ended Its 8-Year TV Run 34 Years Ago Today
More than three decades ago, one of television’s most influential sitcoms signed off for the last time. When The Cosby Show aired its series finale on April 30, 1992, it closed the chapter on a cultural phenomenon that had dominated prime time for nearly a decade.
The NBC hit, led by comedian Bill Cosby as beloved obstetrician Dr. Cliff Huxtable, first premiered in 1984 and quickly became one of the most-watched shows in America. By the time its final episode aired, the series had spent years at or near the top of the ratings and helped redefine what a successful sitcom could look like.
The Huxtables Changed TV ForeverAt the center of the show was the Huxtable family—smart, loving, funny, and unmistakably relatable. Cliff and his wife, lawyer Clair Huxtable (played by Phylicia Rashad), raised their five children in a lively Brooklyn brownstone filled with humor, life lessons, and plenty of memorable moments.
The Huxtable kids were played by a cast that would become instantly recognizable to viewers: Malcolm-Jamal Warner as Theo, Tempestt Bledsoe as Vanessa, Lisa Bonet as Denise, and Keshia Knight Pulliam as Rudy. Later seasons also introduced audiences to young star Raven-Symoné as Olivia.
The show’s warmth and humor were paired with stories about school, relationships, and growing up—topics that resonated with families across the country.

It was a cornerstone of NBC’s legendary Thursday-night lineup and played a major role in turning the network into the ratings leader during the 1980s. Beyond its ratings dominance, the show also earned widespread critical acclaim, collecting multiple Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards during its run.
Why the Show Became an IconPart of what made The Cosby Show so impactful was its portrayal of an upper-middle-class Black family on television—something rarely seen in prime time when the show debuted. The Huxtables were successful professionals, loving parents, and ambitious students, and the series presented their lives with humor and heart rather than stereotypes.
The show also blended comedy with real-life lessons. Episodes tackled topics like education, peer pressure, and responsibility, often wrapped in Cliff Huxtable’s playful parenting style and memorable one-liners. Its influence rippled through television for years, paving the way for later family sitcoms and helping normalize diverse portrayals of American families.
A Finale That Marked the End of an EraBy the time the finale aired in 1992, the show had completed an impressive eight-season run and produced more than 200 episodes. The final episode focused on Theo graduating from college—bringing the Huxtable family story full circle and celebrating the importance of education, one of the series’ core themes.
Even 34 years later, The Cosby Show remains one of the most discussed sitcoms in TV history. Its cultural impact, memorable characters, and record-setting ratings ensure that the Huxtables’ place in television history will never be erased.

1971 Timeless Classic, Named One of the 'Best TV Theme Songs,' Never Made It To No. 1
Carole King has no shortage of chart-topping successes, but one fan-favorite track never made it to No. 1.
King's "Where You Lead" was featured on her career-defining Tapestry album in 1971, but some of the song's best days wouldn't come for another two decades when it became the theme song on the hit TV show Gilmore Girls.
King recorded a special version of "Where You Lead" for the 2000s series, which follows the unique mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, played by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, respectively.
In sticking with the theme of the show, King re-recorded the 1971 track specifically for Gilmore Girls, this time joined by her own daughter, Louise Goffin. She even changed some of the lyrics to make the song more suitable to a mother-daughter duo, rather than its original message about a woman's love for a man.
@wearespotlightHappy #MothersDay 💕 You might associate this song with one of TV’s most iconic Mother-Daughter duos 😏 #caroleking #gilmoregirls #throwbacksongs #fyp
♬ Where You Lead I Will Follow - Carole King"It was her idea to do it with her daughter which was, you know, our immense good fortune," said the show's creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, in a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly. "And if we were on for a hundred years we would never change that theme song. How could you change that theme song? Good Lord. It's the greatest theme song in the entire world."
And even though she may be a bit biased, Sherman-Palladino isn't the only one who loves the Gilmore Girls theme song. Rolling Stone included "Where You Lead" on its roundup of the 100 Best TV Theme Songs of All Time, coming in at No. 45 on the list. The song was also ranked at No. 17 Hollywood Reporter's list of the 30 Most Memorable TV Theme Songs.
King even had a cameo in Gilmore Girls, appearing as record store owner Sophie Bloom in a few episodes. (She also returned for an episode of the 2016 Netflix reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.)
But "Where You Lead" never even hit the Hot 100, which Billboard credits to the fact that Tapestry "simply had too many bangers for them all to be released as singles." Instead, she had a 5-week run at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with the double A-sided single, "It's Too Late"/"I Feel The Earth Move."

1963 Heartbreaker Became a No. 1 Hit After Tragic Twist 63 Years Ago Today
Country music has always had its share of lonesome songs, but few carry a story quite like “Lonesome 7-7203.”
The single, recorded by Harold "Hawkshaw" Hawkins, climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard country chart on April 30, 1963, after first hitting the chart in early March. It would become his only chart-topper, and the timing of it all turned the song into something much bigger than a standard heartbreak hit.
Just three days after its release, Hawkins was killed in a plane crash that also took the lives of Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas. He never saw the success of the record in his lifetime.
The song briefly disappeared from the charts following his death, then returned and surged, eventually spending four non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 during a long run that stretched across the spring and summer of 1963.
Written by Justin Tubb, “Lonesome 7-7203” is built around a simple but quietly devastating premise. A man changes his phone number after a breakup, tired of answering calls meant for someone who’s no longer there. But he leaves one door open, giving the new number only to her, just in case she wants to come back.
That mix of resignation and hope is what gives the song its staying power. It feels conversational, almost like you’re overhearing a private moment between the two exes instead of listening to a polished studio recording:
It's not in the book now so you'd better write it down
Just in case your love for me, should ever come around
You might want to call and break the news to me
Just call lonesome 7-7203
The record didn’t just climb the charts, it fought its way there. Through April, May and into the summer, it traded the No. 1 spot with Bill Anderson’s heartbreaking song “Still” and Buck Owens’ hit “Act Naturally,” bouncing back multiple times in a rare three-song tug-of-war at the top.
For Hawkins, it was a breakthrough that had always just been out of reach. He had been a steady presence in country music through the 1950s, known for his smooth baritone and commanding stage presence, but a No. 1 hit had eluded him.
“Lonesome 7-7203” finally got him there.
And because of the fact that he was killed in a terrible accident just days after its release, the song became more than a chart success. It kept playing on the radio long after he was gone, taking on a weight it didn’t have before.

Quote of the Day: Alan Jackson Reveals What Really Matters as You Get Older
Born in Georgia in 1958, Alan Jackson grew up in a small town where integrity, values and family were at the center of his world. His dad worked construction, while his mom ran the house and weekends were for making memories and going to church. "Growing up in Georgia, I used to think people up north or out west were so different," he's said. "They're really not. They're just regular people who live in small towns. They grow up and try to raise families and have a job and go to church and play softball. It's that way everywhere."
Jackson's childhood shaped everything about him—including his passion for traditional country music, his humility and his work ethic. While chasing his dreams, he worked as a car salesman and mailroom clerk to make ends meet, never letting rejection stop him. In October 1989, he signed his first record deal at the age of 30. Just a few months later, he'd released "Here in the Real World," which soared to No. 3 on the country music chart.
From "Chattahoochee" to "Remember When," the artist has given us songs that feel like conversations with an old friend—honest, heartfelt and rooted in real life. And while he may be from a small town, Jackson's accolades transcend continents: The 67-year-old has sold over 75 million albums and released 35 No. 1 hits. Through it all, Jackson has remained remarkably humble and never forgotten his roots. "You need to keep your perspective," he's said. "You have to remember where you came from." From his music to his message, Alan Jackson constantly inspires—and that's why he's today's quote of the day.
Quote of the Day by Alan Jackson"The older you are, I think you realize what you enjoy and what you don't need, what wears you out and what's important."
Jackson's words are so simple, but so important. Just like his music, they'll resonate with all kinds of people from all walks of life. He's not talking about his career accolades or material items, he's giving us a front row seat to the lessons he's learned during the course of his life. Getting older can be scary—but he's saying there's nothing to be afraid of. Because we're not losing anything, we're gaining wisdom and continuing to discover who we are and what moves us.
Related: Quote of the Day: Reba McEntire’s 9 Words on Fear Say It All
Deeper Meaning of Alan Jackson's Quote—With Age, Comes WisdomIt's been close to 40 years since Jackson signed his first record deal, but over the years, he hasn't changed. He's simply learned more about life and what's important—and that's the perfect perspective on aging. You may grow older, but life gets better because you understand what brings you joy and avoid the things that don't.
Jackson lives out these words in his daily life. While he could afford to eat at Michelin-starred restaurants, he'd rather go to the local Cracker Barrel for a meal. "Those are the kind of people who like the kind of music I'm making," he told Billboard. And when Jackson wants to relax, he doesn't go to a fancy spa; he takes one of his antique cars for a drive.
That attitude extends to the singer's perspective on his career: “This is a job. You have to work, commit and be dedicated. It’s also fun and rewarding, and it’s not near as hard work as most of my fans have to do for a living. It’s hard to complain.”

Chewy’s 'Adorable' Fruit-Themed Cat Tower Is on Sale for $81, and Pet Parents Are Obsessed
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
f there’s one thing cat parents are going to do, it’s accept (fully and without question) that they are no longer in charge of their own home. The windowsills? Occupied. The coziest blanket? Claimed. The random cardboard box you were about to recycle? Suddenly, it's the most important item in the house. At a certain point, you stop fighting it and start curating your space for them. Because realistically, if they’re going to take over anyway, it might as well look good.
And once the seasons shift, that instinct kicks in even more. Warm weather rolls around, your space gets a little lighter, a little brighter, and naturally, your cat deserves a seasonal refresh too. The Happy And Polly Fruit World Plush Cat Tree at Chewy leans all the way into that energy. It’s colorful, playful, and feels like a much-needed upgrade from the standard beige carpet tower situation. Even better, it’s currently on sale for $81, down from $105, which makes treating your cat feel a little more justified.
Happy And Polly Fruit World Plush Cat Tree, From $81 (was $105) at Chewy Shop at ChewyThis cat tower fully commits to the theme, turning each level into a literal piece of fruit — mango, strawberry, and orange — stacked into a bright, playful climbing setup. The platforms are rounded and sculpted rather than flat, so each perch feels like its own little destination instead of just another step up. It comes equipped with three perches at varying heights, a cozy leaf bed for napping, six sisal-wrapped scratching posts placed throughout, and a few dangling toys for batting and pouncing. At just over 41 inches tall with a 19-by-19-inch base, it’s compact enough for smaller spaces but still gives your cat room to climb, perch, and claim their favorite spot.
The structure is made from engineered wood with plywood components, giving it a sturdy base that stays stable during active play sessions. The tower weighs about 17 pounds and supports cats up to 20 pounds, making it suitable for most single-cat households or lighter multi-cat use. It’s a freestanding design with all tools included for assembly, so it’s straightforward to set up.

Pet parents highlighted the “adorable,” “colorful,” and “vibrant” design, along with how “durable” the structure feels. One shopper wrote, “The components are sturdy, the hardware is well threaded, and it’s heavy enough to not have to worry about falling over while being light enough to lift by yourself.”

1994 Classic by One of the ‘Greatest Country Artists of All Time’ Became a No. 1 Hit
32 years ago today, on April 30, 1994, Faith Hill scored her second No. 1 hit with her cover of the rock ‘n’ roll classic “Piece of My Heart.” The tune’s release followed the chart-topping success of the singer’s debut single, “Wild One,” which cemented her as an unstoppable force and undeniable female powerhouse in the country genre.
Written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns, “Piece of My Heart” finds the singer showcasing a sense of vulnerability as they question why their significant other is taking their romance for granted. Throughout the chorus, the singer accepts that the relationship is one-sided and continues to stick with the cycle of being with someone who lacks true love and commitment.
Different RenditionsBefore Hill released her rendition of “Piece of My Heart,” the song had already gone through several recordings, with Janis Joplin’s version becoming the definitive one. Surprisingly, however, Joplin’s take on the classic did not top any chart, but Hill’s did.
Joplin’s 1968 rendition, recorded with Big Brother and the Holding Company, made it to the No. 12 spot on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming a pop hit. Hill’s, meanwhile, topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart (now known as the Hot Country Songs chart) for one week. Additionally, the song reached No. 1 on the Canadian country charts in 1994.
Faith Hill Was Unfamiliar With the Song Before She Recorded ItIn an interview on former Canadian daytime talk show The Dini Petty Show, shared via YouTube, Hill, who in 2024 was named one of Billboard’s ‘Greatest Country Artists of All Time’, reflected on her recording of the song, admitting that she was unfamiliar with Joplin’s version.
“If I had [heard Janis Joplin’s version], my version would’ve been a lot different, but a friend of mine in Nashville had recorded it on another female, and they recorded it country, and that’s how I learned it,” Hill explained. “So when [my producer] Scott Hendricks and I started working together, we just took that and made it our own. We added my personality and style to it.”
“When Warner Brothers found out that I hadn’t heard Janis Joplin, they said, ‘Whatever you do, do not listen to that record until you finish recording yours, just don’t...,” she added before sharing her reaction to hearing Joplin’s rendition later on. “I couldn’t believe it. I couldn't believe I had taken this legend’s song and recorded it country, but it works.”
A third version of the tune, and the original, was recorded by Emma Franklin, who, in 1967, took her soul-tinged track to the No. 10 spot on Billboard’s Hot Rhythm & Blues Singles chart. Other interpretations of the hit include Dusty Springfield’s in 1968 and Melissa Etheridge and Joss Stone’s duet on the song in 2005.
Hill’s “Piece of My Heart” appears on her debut album, Take Me as I Am, which also spawned a top 5 hit with the title track.

Target’s 'Versatile' and 'Comfy' $60 Floor Lounge Chair Is the Smartest Small-Space Upgrade
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
When you’re working with limited space, your furniture can’t just be decorative — it needs a job. Actually, multiple jobs. There’s no room for pieces that just sit there looking pretty while you’re trying to make everything fit. If it’s taking up space, it should be pulling its weight, like a coffee table with hidden storage, a bench that works as both seating and a landing spot, or a rolling cart you can move from room to room.
That kind of flexibility is exactly what the Costway Adjustable 14-Position Floor Chair at Target delivers — and right now, it’s on sale. It’s currently marked down by a massive 71%, dropping from $210 to just $60. For something that can flex into multiple uses without taking up much room, that price point makes it an easy yes.
Costway Adjustable 14-Position Floor Chair, From $60 (was $210) at Target Shop at TargetInstead of a fixed setup, this floor chair is built around adjustability and structure. The backrest moves through 14 settings, so you can set it upright for reading or working, angle it back for more relaxed use, or lay it nearly flat when you want to nap or host overnight guests. Inside, a steel frame that can support up to 264 pounds runs through the core of the chair, giving it consistent support through the back and waist without needing to lean against a wall. The backrest has a slight curve to align with your spine, and the hinge system is designed to hold each position in place without slipping.
The seat is padded with high-resilience sponge cushioning, which is designed to maintain its shape, even with repeated use. It’s covered in a cotton and linen fabric blend, which allows for airflow and helps regulate temperature. Fully extended, it measures approximately 42 inches in length, 21 inches in width, and 4 inches in thickness.
When not in use, the chair folds completely flat, reducing it to a low-profile form that can be stored under a bed, in a closet, or along a wall. Weighing 9.5 pounds, it’s also light enough to carry between rooms.

Blue, pink, black, and cobalt are the most budget-friendly options, but all colors are priced under $65, making it a good value no matter which one you choose.
Shoppers left plenty of praise for this “versatile” and “really comfy” lounger in the reviews section. “The ergonomic design provides great back support, and the steel frame feels sturdy, easily supporting my weight. It's lightweight yet durable, and I love how it folds flat for easy storage under the bed,” one shopper wrote.
