More than 30 years after its formation, Taake is heading back on the road.

The long-running Norwegian black metal band has announced the En Skog Av Nidstang European Tour, a run of dates that will support its upcoming ninth studio album of the same name. The trek begins with a festival appearance in Germany before taking the band across Scandinavia and mainland Europe through September.

The newly announced itinerary includes stops in Germany, Sweden, Norway, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium, with additional festival appearances scheduled along the way. The tour launches at Full Rewind Festival in Roitzschjora, Germany, on July 31 before continuing through cities including Stockholm, Berlin, Bologna, and Amstelveen.

The tour coincides with the release of En Skog Av Nidstang, which arrives July 31 via Dark Essence Records. The four-track album follows 2023's Et Hav av Avstand and was previewed by the lead single "Einstoeingen og Eg." According to the band, the new record continues Taake's tradition of balancing black metal's raw foundations with an evolving, deeply personal songwriting approach.

"Something so deeply personal should be performed in its entirety solely by the person who is the source of it all," Hoest told Metal1 in 2024. "I have a very clear vision for my expression and am not willing to make compromises in the studio."

Founded in 1993 by frontman Hoest, Taake has become one of Norway's most enduring black metal acts. Known for weaving traditional Norwegian black metal together with folk influences, melodic passages, and progressive arrangements, the band has built a devoted international following through albums including Nattestid Ser Porten Vid, Hordalands Doedskvad, and Noregs Vaapen.

Despite more than three decades in the genre, Taake has remained fiercely independent, with Hoest continuing to serve as the project's creative force. That consistency has helped the band maintain its reputation as one of black metal's most respected and uncompromising names while continuing to evolve with each release.

"I am blessed to be accompanied by dedicated and loyal musicians, who make it their priority to be available for most [live performances]," Hoest told Valencia 'N' Metal. "Two members of the current line-up have been with me for almost 20 years. Very rarely have we chosen to include a stand-in musician when someone is unable to join an important concert or tour."

With a new album arriving at the end of the month and a lengthy European tour now on the calendar, 2026 is shaping up to be one of Taake's busiest years in recent memory. For longtime fans, the newly announced dates offer another opportunity to experience one of Norwegian black metal’s defining bands as it begins its latest chapter.

Kelly Clarkson is back—in Vegas.

The OG American Idol winner, 44, took the stage at Caesar's Palace on July 17 for the opening night of her residency, which was previously postponed due to the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

While addressing the adoring crowd, Clarkson took a minute to compare her life working as a talk show host versus as an entertainer. In doing so, she brought up her talk show, which is ending after seven seasons on NBC. The last episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show is set to air next month.

"I would get fired [by] NBC, but I don't work there anymore," Clarkson joked to the crowd according to footage posted by @jpasc24 on Instagram. "We are sad about [it]. It was a fun show."

"It's funny, you go to those HR meetings and you’re like, 'Nobody on the road would last,'" Clarkson continued. "It's just a different world. I was 19 on a bus with dudes. 'What? I can’t do what?' 'Yeah, that’s completely inappropriate.'"

Clarkson has been very candid about her feelings when it comes to leaving her talk show in the past.

"This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’" she wrote on Instagram back in February. "Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives."

Blackstock died in 2025 after a private battle with cancer. He is the father of Clarkson's two children, River and Remington.

Clarkson's residency in Las Vegas runs through August 15, 2026.

Robert De Niro has spent his career playing gangsters, villains, and sociopaths, but some of his most memorable performances have come when he's cast against type. One of those roles was fire investigator Donald Rimgale in Ron Howard's 1991 thriller Backdraft. According to Howard, De Niro's commitment to authenticity ultimately influenced one of the director's most beloved films. Speaking on the Talking Pictures podcast with Ben Mankiewicz, Howard revealed that he was stunned by how seriously the Oscar winner prepared for what could have been a relatively straightforward four-week shoot.

"He dug so deep to try to understand the dynamics of fire," Howard recalled. Rather than relying solely on the screenplay, De Niro met with three real-life fire investigators, asked them to read the script with him and studied everything from their personalities to their body language. At first, Howard admitted he wasn't entirely sure what the actor was trying to accomplish. That changed as soon as filming began.

"He's adopted one guy's posture, and he's got another guy's cadences," Howard said. "Then there was another guy's intensity and even anger. None of that's in the script." Howard realized De Niro wasn't changing the dialogue but building a richer character through careful observation. "He's breathing life into this... not out of his own imagination... but through observation," Howard explained.

The experience made such an impression that Howard borrowed the same philosophy when directing 1994's The Paper. To recreate the frantic energy of a New York newsroom, he spent time shadowing legendary journalist Pete Hamill at the New York Post and the Daily News, taking notes on the language, rhythms and interactions he witnessed. Howard even invited his cast to join him, believing those real-world details would translate to the screen. 

Looking back, Howard credits De Niro's work on Backdraft with teaching him that the most authentic performances don't always come from what's written on the page but from the actors themselves.

Another Real Housewivesstar has been diagnosed with cancer.

The family of Jeana Keough, who was an original cast member on the Orange County franchise, shared the devastating health news on GoFundMe.

“A few months ago, while visiting Shane and me in Florida, my mom mentioned a painful spot on her tongue,” Jeana’s daughter, Kara Keough, wrote. "She assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down. I asked her how long the sore had been there. She paused, thought about it, and realized it had been nearly a year."

Kara explained that her mom underwent surgery to remove the cancer, but needed a second surgery to remove some lymph nodes. She's been going to chemotherapy, which has totally wiped her out.

"She is exhausted, struggling to stay awake, and becoming malnourished because the pain in her tongue and throat makes swallowing even the smallest bites or sips incredibly difficult" Kara wrote, adding, "every day is a battle just to get enough nutrition and hydration to continue treatment."

The GoFundMe goal has been set at $22,000. At the time of this writing, more than $15,000 had been donated to help Jeana. The reality star has not posted about her diagnosis on social media, though she has been active on Instagram in recent days.

"My boyfriend takes the best pictures Laguna Beach Montage Resort, this is paradise by go on vacation I am@loving our staycation. Thank you Thomas," she captioned a post on July 16. Jeana recently went public with her new romance and fans seem genuinely happy that she's found love again.

Some fans have started leaving supportive messages in the comments section of that post.

"Sending you much love your way.. you got this," one person wrote.

Someone else dropped a string of red heart emojiin the comments after the cancer news was made public.

Although Jeana left RHOC after season 5, she has popped back up throughout the years in both "friend of" and guest roles, including the current season.

Brad Paisley is defending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's controversial Madison Square Garden wedding.

On Friday, July 3, the couple said "I do" in front of over 1,000 guests inside the iconic venue. Although critics were quick to call the nuptials "tacky," Paisley reassured fans it was anything but.

“Ironically, [it] was one of the least pretentious weddings that I’ve ever seen or ever will see,” the country star, who attended the wedding with his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley, told the Associated Press on Friday, July 17. “It meant a lot to be [invited]. The secret behind an authentic Greek chicken marinade isn't a mystery ingredient—it's the combination of plain Greek yogurt and fresh lemon juice.

Greek yogurt contains lactic acid and calcium, two natural tenderizers. The lactic acid gently loosens the chicken's protein structure, while the calcium activates naturally occurring enzymes that help break down tougher connective tissue. Unlike harsher acidic marinades, yogurt tenderizes without making the chicken mushy.

These six ingredients combine to make one delicious, mouthwatering marinade.

1. Chicken

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts are my go-to because they soak up the marinade beautifully, but chicken thighs are equally delicious if you prefer richer, juicier meat.

2. Greek Yogurt

Plain Greek yogurt creates the creamy base for the marinade while naturally tenderizing the chicken. I prefer whole milk, but low-fat or nonfat works well too.

3. Lemon

Use both the fresh zest and juice from one lemon. The zest provides concentrated citrus oils, while the juice delivers brightness and helps tenderize the meat.

4. Garlic

Freshly minced garlic adds the unmistakable savory backbone every great Greek yogurt chicken marinade needs. I won't judge if you add a few extra cloves to this recipe.

5. Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

Extra-virgin olive oil carries all the flavors throughout the marinade while helping the chicken brown beautifully during cooking. Grabbing a good-quality brand and variety makes a big difference too.

6. Herbs and Spices

Dried oregano is essential, while paprika adds warmth and color. Dried or fresh minced thyme rounds everything out with earthy flavor. Finish with kosher or sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

I like to season the marinade itself with salt, then lightly salt the chicken again after removing it from the marinade and just before cooking. That final seasoning layer really wakes up every flavor.

How Long Should You Marinate Chicken in Lemon and Yogurt?

I think 30 minutes is enough to add flavor, but the sweet spot is 1 to 2 hours.

If you're planning ahead, you can marinate the chicken overnight in the refrigerator, but I don't recommend going beyond 24 hours. The yogurt and lemon continue tenderizing over time, and leaving it too long can eventually affect the texture of the chicken.

How To Cook It: Grilling, Baking or Air Frying

One of the best things about this lemon olive oil chicken recipe is that it adapts to nearly any cooking method.

Grilling creates beautiful smoky flavor and those irresistible grill marks. Air frying is one of the quickest methods and delivers wonderfully crisp edges with juicy interiors. Roasting in the oven takes a little longer, but it's nearly hands-off. Pan-frying is another excellent choice, especially when you want dinner on the table fast or don't have access to an outdoor grill. A stovetop grill pan also creates gorgeous grill marks.

Whatever method you choose, make sure your grill, pan, oven or air fryer is fully preheated before adding the chicken. If pan-frying, heat a small amount of extra-virgin olive oil until shimmering before adding the chicken.

Cook until both sides develop a rich golden crust. Rather than relying solely on time, use an instant-read thermometer. Remove the chicken when it reaches 160°F, allow it to rest for a minute or two, then verify that carryover cooking brings it to the safe poultry temperature of 165°F.

Finally, let the chicken rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat instead of spilling onto the cutting board.

What to Serve With Greek Chicken

Greek chicken is wonderfully versatile. Serve it simply with fresh parsley and lemon wedges alongside lemon-roasted baby potatoes. Spoon creamy tzatziki sauce over the top, or serve it on the side for dipping.

Step-by-Step Recipe: The Best Greek Chicken You'll Ever Eat

Ingredients:

• 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
• 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
• Zest and juice of 1 medium lemon (about 1/4 cup)
• 2 teaspoons dried oregano
• 1 teaspoon paprika (sweet or smoked)
• 1 teaspoon dried thyme
• 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
• 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, divided
• 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to 1-inch thickness

Method:

1. Whisk together the yogurt, olive oil, lemon zest and juice, oregano, paprika, thyme, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper in a shallow dish.
2. Add the chicken, and toss to coat completely. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 1 to 2 hours, or up to overnight.
3. Remove the chicken from the marinade, discard the marinade, and lightly season both sides with the remaining salt and pepper.
4. Grill over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes per side; air fry at 400°F for 10 to 14 minutes; roast at 400°F for 15 to 22 minutes; or pan-fry over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes per side using a lightly oiled skillet.
5. Cook until an instant-read thermometer reaches 160°F, then allow carryover cooking to bring the internal temperature to 165°F.
6. Rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving with tzatziki, roasted potatoes or your favorite Mediterranean sides.

You may have seen posts on social media about Volufiline, which is often described enthusiastically as "filler in a bottle" for hollow under-eyes and sagging cheeks. The before-and-after videos and claims of significant volume increase are compelling. But does it actually work?

Volufiline is a patented cosmetic ingredient originally developed by French company Sederma (and now part of Croda International Group) that first emerged in the early 2000s. Its active component, sarsasapogenin, comes from a plant long used in traditional Chinese medicine, and is believed to influence fat-cell development and lipid storage—a mechanism very different from anything else in your skincare routine.

The ingredient remained relatively niche until TikTok brought it to mainstream attention in late 2024. By 2025 and 2026 it had become one of the most searched skincare terms globally—and brands raced to capitalize on the moment. But popularity is not the same as proof.

To find out how it works, what the science actually shows and how it compares to other anti-aging ingredients, we asked two board-certified dermatologists to weigh in: Melanie Palm, MD, cosmetic surgeon at Art of Skin MD, and Dr. Kseniya Kobets, Director of Cosmetic Dermatology at Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care.

What Is Volufiline—and How Does It Work?

Volufiline may encourage fat cells beneath the skin to fill up, creating a subtle plumping effect from the inside out.

It's "marketed as a topical alternative to fillers by claiming to stimulate fat cells and increase lipid storage, creating a plumping effect. However, that proposed mechanism is based largely on manufacturer claims and limited preclinical research, and it has not been convincingly demonstrated in human skin," Kobets tells Parade.

It contains "an extract from the root of Anemarrhena asphodeloides," Palm explains. "Its active component, sarsasapogenin, is believed to influence pathways involved in fat-cell development and lipid storage. In lab studies, it has been shown to encourage immature fat cells to differentiate and store more lipids."

"We still do not know how effectively a topical product penetrates deeply enough to create a meaningful change in facial fat," Palm adds.

Does Volufiline Really Help You Look Younger?

Possibly—but it hasn't been proven. "At this point, I think there's considerably more hype than high-quality evidence," Kobets says. "Any visible improvement is much more likely coming from the overall formulation—ingredients like squalane, humectants and emollients that temporarily hydrate and smooth the skin—rather than Volufiline itself meaningfully increasing facial fat. It may leave skin looking healthier and more hydrated, but I definitely would not consider it a topical substitute for fillers."

"I would view it as an optional skincare adjunct rather than a treatment for substantial facial volume loss," Palm adds.

For mild early hollowing and realistic expectations, it may be worth exploring, but for anyone who's been led to believe this is a needle-free alternative to filler, both experts agree that the evidence simply doesn't support that claim.

Is Volufiline Really Like Topical 'Filler'?

No—It is very different from injectable filler, Palm says. Injectable fillers are placed directly into the tissue by a trained clinician at precise depths; a topical cream sits on the surface and relies on passive absorption through the skin barrier.

Palm says that most social-media posts gloss over the facts. The frequently cited "up to 8.4%" volume increase refers to a subset of participants in a small manufacturer-sponsored study—not the result of most participants, she explains. "The average differences were not statistically significant. The claim refers to a subset of participants rather than the average result."

"At this point, there are no robust independent, peer-reviewed clinical studies showing that topical Volufiline can meaningfully restore facial volume," Kobets agrees.

What does the science actually say?

The evidence is preliminary and much less impressive than some of the social-media claims suggest, Palm says. The foundational clinical study was conducted by the ingredient's manufacturer, and involved just 30 young women applying a 5% Volufiline cream to one breast twice daily for 56 days—not the face—and reported a mean volume change of 1.4% after 28 days and 2.2% after 56 days.

"Most of the available data come from manufacturer-sponsored research, laboratory studies or consumer perception surveys rather than large, well-designed human clinical trials. Until we have stronger independent evidence, I think the 'topical filler' claims should be viewed with healthy skepticism," Kobets tells Parade.

"Lab results involving cultured fat cells are interesting, but cells in a dish are not the same as intact human skin," Palm, who has served on more than 60 clinical trials for advancements in cosmetic dermatology, explains. "I would describe Volufiline as promising in theory but not clinically proven to restore meaningful facial volume—at least at this point in time."

Where on the face does Volufiline work best?

Most of the original human testing was performed on the breast area, not the face. Facial products now target the temples, cheeks, under-eye area and smile lines, with hands and the décolletage also sometimes suggested.

"I don't think there's convincing evidence that it works particularly well in any one location," Kobets says. "If people notice improvement, it's more likely from temporary hydration and smoothing of the skin with accompanying ingredients rather than true restoration of lost volume."

Palm says to be cautious around the eyes. "The under-eye area is delicate, and puffiness, fluid retention or an overly rich formula can make some concerns look worse."

How Does Volufiline Compare to Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides?

"Volufiline is marketed as working through fat cells, whereas topical hyaluronic acid temporarily plumps the skin by attracting water, and peptides primarily support collagen and skin quality," Kobets explains. "The evidence supporting topical hyaluronic acid for improving hydration and skin appearance is much stronger, while peptide data vary considerably depending on the specific peptide and formulation."

"Topical hyaluronic acid is a humectant," Palm says. "It pulls water toward the upper layers of the skin, which can make the skin look smoother and temporarily soften fine lines. It is relatively predictable, although it does not replace deeper facial volume."

Who Should Try Volufiline—and Who Might Not See Results?

"Someone with mild dehydration, early fine lines or subtle skin crepiness who enjoys skincare and has realistic expectations may appreciate a modest cosmetic benefit," Kobets says. "Patients with significant hollowing, age-related fat loss, or deeper folds are unlikely to see meaningful structural improvement from a topical product alone."

People with oily or acne-prone skin may find some of the richer, oil-based formulas problematic, Palm adds. And people with mature skin shouldn't expect Volufiline to be a miracle anti-aging ingredient.

"Age-related facial volume loss involves changes in fat compartments, bone, ligaments, collagen and skin elasticity. A topical product cannot comprehensively address all of those factors."

How Long Does Volufiline Take To Work?

"Most brands recommend using it consistently for four to eight weeks based on the manufacturer's studies, although that timeline hasn't been independently validated in robust clinical trials," Kobets says. "Any earlier improvement is likely due to hydration and skin barrier improvement with other ingredients rather than new fat formation. There's no convincing evidence that any benefits are permanent."

Palm agrees, explaining, "A moisturizing formula may make the skin look smoother fairly quickly, but that should not be confused with new fat formation."

How To Use Volufiline in Your Skincare Routine

"Use it once or twice daily according to the product directions," Kobets says. "I would apply it after lighter serums and before or with your moisturizer depending on the texture. More importantly, don't neglect skincare basics like sunscreen, retinoids and maintaining a healthy skin barrier, which have far stronger evidence for improving skin quality over time."

Palm recommends doing a patch test first and to introduce it gradually.

More than a year after Ozzy Osbourne's death, his hometown is making sure the Prince of Darkness won't be forgotten.

On July 22, Birmingham, England, will celebrate its inaugural "Ozzy Day," a citywide tribute honoring the legendary Black Sabbath frontman and his lasting impact on music and the city where his remarkable journey began. According to People, the event marks one year since Osbourne's death at age 76.

The free celebration will feature live music, public art, special performances and fan tributes across Birmingham, with activities taking place at landmarks closely tied to Osbourne's legacy, including the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Bullring, and other locations that helped shape his story.

Among the performers are Bostin Brass and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, while Ozzy the Bull — the giant mechanical bull created for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and later named in the rock icon's honor—will also receive a special Ozzy-inspired makeover for the occasion.

Local leaders say the celebration is meant to recognize not only Osbourne's influence on rock music but also the pride he always took in his Birmingham roots.

Osbourne, who co-founded Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1968, helped pioneer heavy metal before launching a wildly successful solo career that spanned decades. Beyond his music, he introduced a new generation of fans to his family through MTV's The Osbournes, becoming one of rock's most recognizable personalities.

Even after achieving global fame, Osbourne never lost his connection to the city where it all began.

“Ozzy Day is a fantastic example of Birmingham working together to celebrate the legendary Ozzy Osbourne,” Sam Watson the chair of Central BID Birmingham said in a statement. “By bringing together businesses, cultural organizations and public spaces, we’re creating a city centre wide experience that encourages people to celebrate the legacy of a truly global, Birmingham-born icon.”

Simon and Yasmin Le Bon Are Grandparents

The couple has three daughters, and they are now enjoying the journey into grandparenting.

The couple’s middle daughter, Saffron, has two sons, Taro and Skye, while Amber welcomed a son, Sasha, last year. Amber chose to share photos of her new little one in the pages of HELLO!, the same publication where her parents shared the news of her birth 35 years prior.

“I love looking back at those photos with Mama and Daddy and I wanted Sasha to have something like that,” Amber told HELLO! “It’s like a lovely snapshot of our little family and it feels like we’ve gone full circle and closed the loop.”

Amber said her parents couldn’t believe that their daughters had produced a crew of boys, seeing as they have three daughters.

“They couldn’t believe it’s another boy – we’ve gone from all girls to being overwhelmingly outnumbered by boys,” Amber continued. “Both my parents and Ben’s have been amazing and hands-on; we’ve had so much help. Staying here has worked out perfectly because it takes that little bit of pressure off the day-to-day running of things, so that we get to kind of fall into being parents.”

They Won’t Be Renewing Their Vows Anytime Soon

Simon and Yasmin married in 1985. While the couple has made it 41 years together, it’s unlikely that she and Simon will be renewing their vows anytime soon. Five years ago, Yasmin opened up in an interview about how there are slim chances that it will happen.

“We thought about that years ago, but now I honestly don’t think I could be bothered to organize a party. It would just be an ad hoc kind of thing, and we couldn’t be a——-‘ she said in an interview with The Sun. “I think part of the reason that we’re still together is because we had a ramshackle wedding anyway.”

More than six decades after they first took the stage, The Rolling Stones have reached a milestone that only The Beatles had achieved.

According to a Reuters July 17 report, the legendary rock band has earned its 15th No. 1 album on the U.K. Official Albums Chart, tying the Beatles' long-standing record with the release of its new album, Foreign Tongues. The achievement comes more than 60 years after the Stones formed in London in 1962.

Released on July 10, Foreign Tongues is the band's 25th studio album and features an impressive lineup of guest artists, including Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Reuters also reported that the record includes one of late drummer Charlie Watts' final recording sessions before his death in 2021.

The chart-topping album follows the Stones' Grammy-winning 2023 release, Hackney Diamonds, continuing an extraordinary late-career run for the group.

Although the Rolling Stones now share the Beatles' total of 15 U.K. No. 1 albums, they don't yet hold the all-time record. According to NME, that distinction belongs to Robbie Williams, who has amassed 16 chart-topping albums in the U.K. as a solo artist.

The milestone also doesn't appear to mark the end of the band's journey.

Speaking at the Foreign Tongues launch event in London, Mick Jagger said he and guitarist Ronnie Wood are already looking ahead to taking the new music on the road.
"Ronnie and I are really into that, so we hope to see everyone on the road," Jagger told Reuters.

For a band that has spent more than six decades redefining rock music, matching one of the Beatles' most enduring chart records is just the latest reminder that the Rolling Stones continue to make history.

Matilda star Mara Wilson is looking back on how Danny DeVito helped her through one of the most challenging moments for her family.

The 38-year-old actress recently reflected on making the iconic 1996 film during a panel at the Fanboy Expo. She especially remembered working with her "favorite" uncle, who directed and starred in the family movie.

“Matilda means the most to me because I had a lot to do. It was a big responsibility. I was the title character,” she said, per PEOPLE. “It was difficult at times, I was also going through a hard time, but as I told you, Danny DeVito did not literally adopt me — that’s a myth — but he did take very good care of my family.” There had been rumors that DeVito and his wife, Rhea Pearlman, had adopted Wilson after her mother was hospitalised.

When making Matilda, Wilson's mother was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. Suzie Wilson sadly died in April 1996, just three months before Matilda was released. Wilson was just 7 when she made the film, based on the 1988 children's novel by Roald Dahl.

“[DeVito] really helped me and my family when we were going through something terrible. And they were very loving and kind, and I made so many lifelong friends on that,” she explained during the panel. “And yes, there were hard days, but there were also days where it felt like summer camp, and I am still friends with the people that I worked on it today.”

In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Wilson recalled how she "immediately felt a connection" with DeVito and that they "just understood each other."

During a 2013 interview with Parade, Wilson also credited their love and support for helping her come to terms with the seriousness of her mom's illness. "I remember feeling anxious when the movie wrapped, and it was really hard to go back to normal and dealing with my mom's sickness," she explained. "I definitely feel like having that family there, and having people willing to take care of us and help us out, made it easier."

In 2021, she explained how hard it was to be a child star and the misconceptions that they are "spoiled entitled brats who have everything given to us."

"There are long days, there are times spent away from family – I spent months away from my family. Right after my mother had died, I was living in other countries basically by myself," she said during BBC Radio 4’s new podcast, Pieces of Britney, which looked at how Britney Spears and other famous women were treated in the limelight.

She added: "Maybe there was a nanny but without any family when I was a young child. What we are instead of young entitled brats is we are people pleasers." Mara Wilson also appeared in Miracle on 34th Street and Mrs Doubtfire as a child.

After being a child star, Wilson took a 12-year hiatus from the industry. She recently returned, concentrating more on voice work, including podcasts and audiobooks.

Brian May has spent more than five decades cementing his place as one of rock's most celebrated guitarists. As the co-founder and lead guitarist of Queen, the English musician helped create timeless hits including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions." On Sunday, May celebrates his 79th birthday, marking another milestone in his legendary career.

The only child of Ruth Irving and Harold May, Brian May was born at a nursing home in England and got his education at a local primary school. For college, he attended Imperial College London to study math and physics, where he met Roger Taylor, who would soon be his band member in Queen. Before their Queen days, Taylor and May joined the progressive band Smile.

Queen was a popular British rock band that consisted of May, Taylor, Freddie Mercury and John Deacon. In 1973, the lineup was officially established and they released their self-titled debut album. The rock band didn't gain their success until they released their second album, Queen II, a year later, which charted in the UK.

In 1975, Queen released "Bohemian Rhapsody," which became the band's No. 1 hit, topping the charts internationally and popularizing music videos. They continued to release strings of hits such as "We Will Rock You," "We Are The Champions", "Another One Bites the Dust" and many more, throughout the decade.

"We thought, 'this is going to be a nice track for our new album [A Night at the Opera],' which hopefully is going to save us, because we’re seriously in debt and in a very bad situation as regards management," May told Big Issue when talking about the success of "Bohemian Rhapsody."

"We certainly weren’t thinking in terms of number ones, we just felt it was the best song on the album,” Taylor added. “It was the most arresting, unusual thing."

Queen released a total of 15 studio albums, with their most recent being Made in Heaven in 1995, their final record, which the band put out four years after their lead singer, Freddie Mercury, passed away from AIDS.

"I never heard him go, 'This is really awful. My life is [explicit]. I'm going to die.' Never, never, never. He was an amazingly strong person," May said while speaking about his former bandmate. He also explained that the last time he saw Mercury was with his wife Anita, and they visited Mercury at his home.

"I was talking about things in his garden, saying, 'That's really interesting,'" May recalled, remembering one of their last conversations.

"'Guys, you don't need to feel like you need to make conversation.'" Mercury told him. "'I'm just so happy that you're here. So even if we say nothing, it's just having these moments.'"

Stockard Channing has revealed the surprisingly practical reason she took on the role of Betty Rizzo in Grease: her mortgage needed paying. Speaking on the UK program Lorraine, the now-82-year-old actress said she had no idea the 1978 film would become one of the most beloved movie musicals ever made. "I was lucky to get a job for the summer," she told host Lorraine Kelly. "The mortgage was whispering in my ear. I mean, I'm not making that up. It's absolutely true."

What she thought she was getting into was a few months of steady work. What she was actually getting into was one of the most beloved movie musicals ever made.

"I thought, 'Okay, let's go for it. Let's be the world's oldest living teenager,'" she recalled, laughing.

She wasn't wrong about the ‘oldest living teenager’ part. Channing was 33 years old when she stepped into the role of Rizzo, the sharp-tongued, fiercely independent leader of the Pink Ladies. She was playing a high school student. She knew it was completely absurd. But she showed up anyway.

She wasn't alone in that particular predicament either. John Travolta was 23 playing Danny Zuko. Olivia Newton-John was 29 playing Sandy. The entire ensemble at Rydell High ranged in age from their early 20s to their mid-30s. The film that's defined the teenage experience for generations was made entirely by people who were no longer teenagers. Didi Conn, who played Frenchy, once described the atmosphere on set by saying the cast were "horny" during filming, which makes slightly more sense when you realize they were all adults.

But here's what makes that particular detail more interesting rather than just funny.

Rizzo works precisely because Channing wasn't 17. Rizzo's storyline involves a pregnancy scare that gives the character depth and emotional weight no other character in the film comes close to. Her quietly devastating "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" feels real because it came from someone who'd actually lived some life and been through some things. Her scenes with Jeff Conaway, who played Kenickie and died in 2011, remain among the most emotionally charged scenes of the entire film.

A teenager playing Rizzo would've been performing the emotion. Channing brought it with her from lived experiences.

The mortgage that sent her to the audition in the first place may have produced the best performance in the film. Channing even received a Golden Globe nomination for the role. The film became a box office sensation that's never stopped finding new audiences.

She had no idea any of that was coming.

"You never know," she told Lorraine Kelly. "Great oaks from little acorns grow."

At 82, She's Still Showing Up

Channing isn't spending very much time looking back. When asked about any planned celebrations for Grease's 50th anniversary in 2028, she said: "I have no idea."

She's focused forward.

In September 2026, she will return to screens as Aunt Franny in Practical Magic 2, reprising the role she played in the beloved 1998 original. The sequel reunites her with Dianne Wiest and brings back Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the Owens sisters. It's a reunion 28 years in the making.

Indeed, the color symbolism of gold is rich and includes references to divine authority. Lewis reports that in ancient Egypt, gold signaled a connection to the gods. In Christian artwork, gold halos surround sacred figures. It has also symbolized royalty, adorning the crowns of rulers across civilizations and generations. Gold medals, stars and certifications make the metallic the "universal standard of being the best," she says.

"On the most immediate level, gold's warmth and luminosity are genuinely flattering for warm-toned individuals," she adds. "It reflects light in a way that brightens the face and skin in a way few other colors can match. Years before Gabbriette became engaged to The 1975 frontman, Charli handpicked the model and musician to join her Netflix-created band Nasty Cherry. Through that friendship and Charli's own relationship with The 1975 drummer George Daniel, whom she later married, Healy and Gabbriette finally crossed paths after mutual friends had reportedly been trying to introduce them for years.

The pair first sparked romance rumors in September 2023 after they were photographed kissing in New York City. Less than a year later, they announced their engagement following one of Charli XCX's Brat concerts in Brooklyn. Naturally, Gabbriette couldn't resist name-dropping her friend's era-defining album. "MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT," she wrote on Instagram while showing off her gothic black diamond engagement ring. 

Now, the couple has officially made it down the aisle. According to People, the private ceremony brought together family and close friends, including Charli XCX and Daniel, along with a star-filled guest list from music, fashion and film. Leading up to the wedding, Healy even celebrated his bachelor party by jumping onstage with The 9075, a tribute band dedicated to The 1975, performing the fan favorite "The Sound."

Consistently getting good sleep is one of the most important habits for supporting your health both short-term and long-term.

The impact is even more devastating long-term when someone consistently doesn't get enough sleep. Not getting enough sleep has been scientifically linked to raising the risk of cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders (such as type 2 diabetes and obesity) and cognitive decline.  

If you’re 60 or older, you might have noticed that you’re naturally waking up earlier than you used to. While this is common with age, it might be giving you pause. After all, wouldn’t getting more sleep be beneficial as we get older to protect the aging brain?

Parade talked to sleep doctors about how sleep needs change with age and exactly how many hours of sleep people 60 and older should aim to get.

How Sleep Supports the Aging Brain

PSA: You are never too old to start prioritizing your health, and focusing on consistently getting enough sleep is a great place to start. “Sleep is one of the best investments we can make in our brain health,” says Dr. Natalie Dautovich, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University’s College of Humanities and Sciences and who specializes in sleep research.

Dr. Dautovich explains that during sleep is when the brain consolidates memories, processes new information and clears away metabolic waste that accumulates throughout the day. “We know that people who regularly get healthy sleep tend to perform better on tasks involving attention, learning and memory. While sleep isn't a guarantee against cognitive decline, it's one of several healthy lifestyle behaviors, including regular exercise, social engagement and managing cardiovascular health, that can help support healthy brain aging,” she says.

Dr. Heidi Ewen, PhD, FGSA, FAGHE, a behavioral scientist, gerontologist and nursing associate professor at SUNY Binghamton’s Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, adds to this, saying, “Sleep is when our body deeply relaxes and resets our internal systems. Dreaming helps us make sense of new information and process information.” 

According to a scientific article published in the journal Sleep Medicine Clinics, longitudinal studies show that poor sleep is associated with higher rates of both cognitive decline and depression. It also increases the risk of disability in basic activities of daily living and the risk of falling.

How Much Sleep Adults 60 and Older Need

With this in mind, how much sleep should adults 60 and older aim to get to minimize these risks? Dr. Dautovich recommends aiming for between seven and eight hours. This aligns with the recommendations set by the National Sleep Foundation. For comparison, it’s recommended that adults ages 18 to 64 get between seven and nine hours of sleep.

These guidelines were based on 133 different meta-analyses, taking into account 3,222 scientific studies. Researchers found that men and women need the same amount of sleep in each life stage, from childhood to old age. However, the recommended amount of sleep changes at certain points throughout one’s life. For example, newborns all the way through age 17 require more sleep than adults to support human development and growth.

“[The recommendation of adults over 65 getting seven to eight hours of sleep] is the amount associated with the best physical, mental and cognitive health for most people,” Dr. Dautovich says. “Sleep is when the body and brain do much of their repair work, so consistently getting enough sleep helps support everything from mood and immune function to memory and heart health.”

Why It’s Common for People Over 60 to Naturally Wake up Earlier

Both experts explain that one common change that happens with age is naturally waking up earlier. “Our circadian rhythms slowly change with age,” Dr. Ewen says. She explains that many older people wake early, sleep fewer hours a night and often have an afternoon nap. 

Dr. Dautovich agrees, explaining that many older adults notice that they get sleepy earlier in the evening and wake up earlier in the morning than they used to. “This change in sleep timing is primarily because our circadian rhythm, or internal body clock, naturally shifts earlier with age,” she says. 

At the same time, sleep often becomes lighter and more fragmented with age, so older adults may wake up more during the night or have trouble falling back asleep. “We also spend more time in deep sleep in the first half of the night. Therefore, it’s easier to wake up earlier in the morning because we all are spending less time in deep sleep during the second half of the night,” Dr. Dautovich explains.  

Dr. Ewen says that waking up earlier, sleeping fewer hours at night and having an afternoon nap is actually how our bodies have been designed to work, but the cultural demands of work get in the way of this. “Once we’re retired or the kids are grown, our bodies resume this natural rhythm. Most people report feeling fully or better rested than earlier in life," she adds.

Dr. Ewen emphasizes that sleep hygiene is complicated by social and cultural factors. “We often place societal demands above our bodily needs. Psychologist Karen Horney coined the term ‘tyranny of the shoulds,’ which means that we behave in ways we are told we 'should' rather than doing what we think is best. Sleep expectations are no different. Old age is the perfect time to embrace our internal sleep-wake cycle,” she tells Parade.

Both experts say that there isn’t one ideal time that people 60 and older should wake up. What’s more important is that you wake up feeling well-rested. That said, Dr. Dautovich says that circadian rhythm loves regularity, so it’s best to go to bed and wake up at relatively the same time every day.

If you find that you aren’t waking up refreshed or have trouble getting seven to eight hours of sleep a night, Dr. Dautovich recommends talking to your healthcare provider. “One misconception is that poor sleep is simply an unavoidable part of aging. While some changes in sleep are normal, chronic insomnia, loud snoring or excessive daytime sleepiness shouldn't be ignored. If sleep problems are affecting your daily life, talk with your healthcare provider because many sleep disorders are treatable,” she says.

Remember, it’s never too late to improve your sleep. “Small habits, like keeping a regular sleep schedule, getting morning light, staying physically active and limiting bright light at night, can have meaningful benefits for your sleep and your overall health,” Dr. Dautovich says.

Prioritizing sleep isn’t just important for having enough energy to get through the day. It’s important for supporting your long-term health too.

Foreigner is giving fans one more reason to catch the band on its ongoing 50th anniversary tour.

In a message sent to fans this week, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group announced a limited-time ticket offer for its "Double Trouble / Double Vision" tour, allowing fans in select markets to purchase two tickets for $50 while supplies last. The offer expires Sunday at 10 p.m. local time.

The promotion arrives just as Foreigner prepares to launch the next leg of its milestone anniversary celebration, which continues throughout 2026 and into 2027. The band's next "Double Trouble / Double Vision" run begins July 23 in Alpharetta, Georgia, before traveling across the United States and Canada this summer and fall.

The latest announcement comes during one of the busiest periods in Foreigner's 50th anniversary campaign. In recent months, the band has reunited multiple generations of its lead singers for the upcoming live album In the Eye of the Storm, released a live version of Simon & Garfunkel's beloved classic "Bridge Over Troubled Water," and even revived the rarely performed 1979 song for the first time in decades after it had long been absent from the group's concerts.

In the Eye of the Storm arrives July 24 and features performances from founding frontman Lou Gramm, longtime singer Kelly Hansen and current vocalist Luis Maldonado. Founding guitarist Mick Jones previously said the project represents the fulfillment of the vision he had when he formed Foreigner nearly 50 years ago.

The anniversary celebration has also included special performances, new merchandise and a theatrical concert film, as the band continues marking one of the most successful careers in classic rock. Since forming in 1976, Foreigner has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide with enduring hits including "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold as Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Urgent," "Juke Box Hero" and the No. 1 smash "I Want to Know What Love Is."

Alan Gorrie has spent more than five decades helping shape the sound of soft rock. As the co-founder, bassist and co-lead vocalist of Average White Band, the Scottish musician became the voice behind timeless hits like "Pick Up the Pieces" and "Cut the Cake." On Sunday, Gorrie celebrates his 80th birthday, marking another milestone in a career that has left a lasting mark on rock, funk and soul music.

Gorrie was born and raised in Perth, Australia, and started playing the bass at just 10 years old. His professional career began when he was just a teenager and started his own band called The Vikings. In the 1960s, he moved to London and played for various English rock bands, including Forever More, a progressive rock band.

After appearing in many movie soundtracks throughout the early 1970s, Gorrie and another Forever More band member, Owen "Onnie" McIntyre, formed the Average White Band in 1972. Others eventually joined, including Malcolm "Molly" Duncan, Michael Rosen, Roger Ball and Robbie McIntosh. Though their debut album, Show Your Hand, did not sell well at first, they eventually became a successful funk/R&B group, topping international record charts with their second studio album, AWB, thanks to their single "Pick Up the Pieces."

When asked a couple of years ago about his and AWB's success, Gorrie wouldn't have believed it when they first made their band more than 50 years ago.

"Absolutely no way could we have seen past five or 10 years, in fact, 10 years was a stretch for any band back in those days. Especially when you were doing something that was off the beaten track in terms of what UK music was all about in 1972 when we started forming the band," he told interviewer Kevin Cooper. "We were actually bucking the trend with soul music and RnB when Britain was firmly in the grip of the likes of David Bowie, Hard Rock and Prog Rock."

Despite their success in the 1970s, AWB ended up breaking up in 1983 due to the dwindling record sales, major changes in music trends, record company lawsuits and burnout from constant touring. During this time, Gorrie released a solo album titled Sleepless Nights, which remains his only solo record.

In 1989, AWB reunited and created Aftershock, which was released that same year. They continued touring throughout the 1990s, and released three more albums: Soul Tattoo, Living Colour and Inside Out from 1997 to 2018. They eventually stopped touring in 2023, celebrating 50 years as a band with their fans on their Let's Go Round Again One Last Time Tour.

"It’s a logical, natural thing for us to do. There is a lifespan to everything whether it is a tree or a person, a genre of music or what have you, and we just felt that this was the right time to be totally honest about it and say, 'Look folks, we are going to stop touring, we are going to do it this year, and we are going to give you one last great throw of the dice and do it properly,'" Gorrie said.

AWB eventually disbanded for good in 2024, and their final concert was made into a film titled Final Note, which was released in 2025.

On one of the last stops on the farewell tour, the rock band visited Perth, Gorrie's hometown, and he called the days leading up to it very "emotional." Though he was looking forward to performing, he called touring quite exhausting.

"It’s very gruelling touring," he told The Courier ahead of the Perth show in 2024. "It doesn’t leave you much time for a family life and other niceties, so that’s why we decided to be honest and upfront about it and make it a farewell tour so everybody can see us for a last time."

Nowadays, Gorrie spends his retirement days painting and songwriting, as well as spending more time with family.

"I’m going to stop touring so that I can hopefully get my head back into songwriting, painting, which I love doing, and other pursuits, including my family, who have been denied my input for half a century," he continued. "I’ve been getting into [painting] again and want to pursue it much more than I’ve been able to, so I’m looking forward to doing more."

As Gorrie celebrates his 80th birthday, his legacy extends far beyond Average White Band's biggest hits. His musicianship helped introduce generations of listeners to a distinctive blend of funk, soul, rock and jazz, and his influence continues to be felt through the artists and fans who still celebrate the band's music today.

Led Zeppelin is known as one of the greats when it comes to classic rock bands. They've had plenty of popular songs but never reached No. 1 in the U.S., although one song came close.

In 1969, the band released the single "Whole Lotta Love" off their second studio album, Led Zeppelin II, with the B-side "Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)." The track was only released as a single in certain countries, not including Led Zeppelin's home country of the U.K.

But it was good that they decided to put it out in America, as it became a huge hit. Decades later, it remains their highest-charting song in the U.S.

Band member Jimmy Page came up with the song's famous guitar riff while spending time on his houseboat on the River Thames in 1968. There was no special story behind the making of the song, although a production mishap led to some improvisation.

Audio engineer Eddie Kramer added some echo onto Robert Plant's voice to overcome a sound he thought was bleedthrough that he couldn't remove, and the band liked it. It made the final cut.

The song is a strong track, with lyrics about a man experiencing intense lust. Lyrics include, "You've been learning/ Um baby I been learning/ All them good times baby, baby/ I've been year-yearning."

When "Whole Lotta Love" was released in the U.S., Billboard spotlighted the song and said that it was a "powerful, commercial swinger that should have no trouble putting them up the Hot 100." The publication was right, and the song quickly shot up the music chart.

"Whole Lotta Love" eventually peaked at No. 4 in 1970, and it spent a total of 15 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 during its initial release. It's over 50 years after the song first came out, and rock fans everywhere are still rocking to the classic Led Zeppelin track.
