Dave Ramsey Says Debt Is the Enemy. Robert Kiyosaki Says It's a Tool. Here's Who's Actually Right for You

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 12:18pm

If you follow personal finance news, you'll recognize Dave Ramsey and Robert Kiyosaki — two of the most recognizable names in money management, and two personalities who rarely agree. The Dave Ramsey vs. Robert Kiyosaki debate has been raging for years, but a recent TikTok from finance creator Hannah Hammond reignited the conversation after she sat down with Kiyosaki to ask the question everyone wants answered: which money method actually works best?

@hannahbhammond

Who do you think is right about debt? Dave Ramsey or Robert Kiyosaki?

♬ original sound - Hannah Hammond Getting Debt-Free with Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey's financial philosophy is built on one core belief: debt is the enemy of wealth. A believer in living on less than you earn, Ramsey's approach centers on eliminating all debt through fast repayment strategies and building a foundation of savings before investing for the future.

Photo by Jackson Laizure on Getty Images

His step-by-step framework, the 7 Baby Steps, gives anyone needing a financial reset a clear path forward: save a $1,000 emergency fund, pay off all debt using the debt snowball method, build three to six months of expenses in savings, invest 15 percent of household income in retirement accounts, save for a college fund, pay off the home early and then build wealth and give. For anyone buried in high-interest debt or living paycheck to paycheck, Ramsey's debt-free method offers a structured, proven way out.

However, it is important to note thay many financial experts now suggest the $1,000 figure is too low given inflation)

Robert Kiyosaki's Good Debt and Bad Debt Approach

Kiyosaki, the bestselling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, takes the opposite view, suggesting that 'good debt' like real estate or businesses that build income can be a tool for wealth creation. Say you own a financed rental property. As long as it generates cash flow each month, it should be considered an asset and 'good debt' in your portfolio.

Photo by Patrick McMullan on Getty Images

It's important to note that, in these situations, Kiyosaki's method assumes you have cash flow and are willing to take on the risk involved in markets like real estate. Taking cautious and strategic steps on this path is crucial to ensuring your investments don't become a liability.

Diversify Your Debt Management

The Ramsey vs. Kiyosaki debate isn't really about who's right — it's about who's right for your specific financial situation. If high-interest debt is looming and cash flow is tight, Ramsey's eliminate-debt-first approach is likely the stronger foundation. If you have a steady income and the appetite for calculated risk, Kiyosaki's leverage-and-invest framework could accelerate your wealth-building timeline.

The most effective personal finance plan is one that aligns with your goals, your risk tolerance, and your current financial reality. Consulting a financial advisor who understands your specific circumstances is always the smartest first move.

Rosie O'Donnell Calls Out 'Conman, Narcissist and Psychopath' Donald Trump During Tony Awards

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 12:17pm

During a rare appearance at this past Tony Award celebration, Rosie O'Donnell didn't shy away from making her disdain for the current U.S. president achingly clear.

Reigniting her decades-long feud with President Donald Trump, the 64-year-old actress ripped Trump over both his controversial politics and past business practices, with O'Donnell seldom holding back in her honest assessment of the current commander-in-chief.

Speaking with Variety, O'Donnell said of Trump, "If you grew up in New York, you knew he was an a**hole and a liar from day one. And I am 64 years old and my whole life here. So, I remember when his planes were repossessed off the runways at LaGuardia. I remember when he was broke. I remember when he would call up places and pretend to be his own publicist."

"He is a conman. He is a narcissist. And he is a psychopath if you ask me," the former View host continued.

As for the specific politics currently characterizing the U.S., the comedian bluntly said, "I think it’s horrific."

Not slowing down, O'Donnell then went on to call out Trump's inner circle for "pretend[ing] not to notice" whenever the president "falls asleep" or when Trump allegedly "lets go gas and everyone shrieks and in disgust and backs up."

O'Donnell also mocked Trump for his recent comments mentioning that very few people realized the letter B was in the word "dumb."

"Surprisingly the word 'dumb' has a 'b' at the end, and most people don’t know that," Trump said.

In response, O'Donnell shared her reaction by telling reporters, "I’m like, yeah, most people under [the age of] six."

While O'Donnell and Trump have been engaged in a lengthy feud with one another for decades, the comedian has more recently moved overseas to Ireland due to what she described as the turbulent politics defining America right now.

"It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well," O'Donnell said.

A Simple Retirement Tweak at 62 Could Add $148,000 to Your Lifetime Income. Here's How It Works

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 12:05pm

Many people consider retirement to be final, but implementing a phased retirement could leave you with an extra $148,000 (or more, both of which depend on the scenario) when you finally stop working entirely. But what is phased retirement? And is it the right choice for you?

📩 Be the most interesting person in the room with stories from Parade's daily newsletter 📩

What Is Phased Retirement?

Just as it sounds, phased retirement is the process of phasing out of work rather than quitting cold turkey. Retiring cold turkey can be emotionally and financially taxing, but delaying allows you the opportunity to test it out and find your personal retirement style.

If you’re working a traditional job for an employer, you’ll want to negotiate a 60% work schedule based on your current position. This typically looks like going from 5 working days to 3 and taking a 40% salary cut. The key here is to negotiate this reduction before announcing retirement. Employers are less likely to negotiate if they know you’re on your way out.

Boosting Social Security and Savings

You’re eligible to take early Social Security benefits at age 62, but doing so will lower your overall monthly benefits for the rest of your life. Delaying until FRA (or even further to age 70 for even higher monthly checks) will get you more overall. It could even add $148,000 to your retirement funds, according to a 24/7 Wall St post.

For a worker making $90,000 a year with a portfolio of $620,000, taking retirement at age 62 will leave you with approximately $47,480 yearly if you collect Social Security and take a 4% draw from your portfolio. Delaying that until age 64 and using those transition years to negotiate a 60% phased retirement increases that yearly total to around $54,320 by allowing you to boost Social Security benefits and continue padding your investment account.

If you plan for your retirement funds to last from age 64 to age 88, that could add around $148,000 to your overall total. The combination of delayed benefits, continued salary, and a boost to your 401(k) in those transitional years leaves you with more money overall while also easing yourself into your next chapter of life.

If you delay even further, transitioning at age 65 and taking full retirement at age 67, those numbers go up even more.

Phasing into retirement is a financial strategy that will pay off in the end. For workers willing to have one honest conversation with their employer, phased retirement may be the most underused financial strategy available to people in their early 60s.

Dollar Tree's 'Super Cute' Glass Tumblers Are a Riff on Pricier Icon Styles for Only $1.50

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 12:05pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Somewhere along the way, drinking out of a regular glass just stopped being as fun. Enter the straw-and-tumbler era, a trend that somehow makes every beverage feel a little more exciting. Iced coffee feels café-worthy in one, and water just looks more appealing. An afternoon soda, lemonade or the emotional support beverage you carry from room to room all day? Better with a straw.

Part of the appeal is practicality. Tumblers are easier to carry around the house; they help keep ice where it belongs, and having a straw tricks many of us into drinking more water without even thinking about it. But a lot of it is aesthetic, too. Sipping from glassware is more satisfying—I don't make the rules; that's just the way it is.

Designer Glass Tumbler With Lid and Straw, $1.50 at Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree

Shop It!

That's exactly why stylish glass tumblers have become such a thing lately. The only problem? Trendy drinkware can get expensive fast. Thankfully, budget retailers have figured out that people want the look without the price tag—and that's where some surprisingly chic finds come in, like these Designer Glass Tumblers at Dollar Tree.

This take harnesses all the cuteness of Anthropologie's iconic glasses and the handiness of Target's popular lidded tumblers, but for only $1.50 each. You can choose from four different motifs: cherries, hearts, yellow flowers or blue flowers. Each one feels cheerful; it just depends on your personal preference.

Needless to say, Dollar Tree shoppers are digging them.

"These glasses are dupes of some of the ones at Target but cuter in my opinion," wrote a customer in their review. "I bought the one with the hearts, the cherries and the flowers."

Another shopper said, "Super cute glass jar cups! Decent quality, obviously don't suggest dropping as they're glass. Very happy with the product!"

Indeed, dropping anything made out of glass is a bad thing, whether it costs $1.50 or $150. No one wants to deal with shattered shards on the ground.

These glass tumblers aren't the only time Dollar Tree has riffed on another retailer's popular product. It has a bunch of cute Stanley dupes, not to mention dinnerware that looks decidedly like something from Crate & Barrel's shelves. All this to say it's worth popping into the Tree for affordable tableware that looks way more expensive than its price tag.

Actor James Handy's Final Film Project Reportedly Canceled Following His Death

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:59am

James Handy, who became known for various roles in his career, died on June 3 following a fatal stabbing in front of his home. The actor was scheduled to star in a comedy film, with its producer revealing they have decided not to move forward with the project.

In a report to TMZ, Heidi Anderson-Swan served as the writer and producer of what would have been the film Kickback V. The film would have focused on a group of nerds learning martial arts. Its storyline follows their growing bond as friends and with their karate sensei.

According to Anderson-Swan, Kickback V is officially cancelled following Handy's death. She also revealed that the project was already halted during pre-production due to several issues, including financing. When it came to the late actor, the producer said he was one of the "sweetest people" she's met in Hollywood and recalls how he helped her when she first broke into the industry. His impact on her is what led her to cast Handy in the film.

After learning of the actor's death, Anderson-Swan admitted she's still in shock. On June 3, it was reported that Handy had died after suffering fatal stab wounds. Authorities found the actor unconscious in his front yard with a stab wound to the chest.

West Valley area patrol officers had responded to a 911 call in the neighborhood involving unspecified trouble around 9:30 a.m. According to the report, the 911 caller stated, "I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin." It was later learned that the actor was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police later revealed that the stabbing was "an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time." They arrested 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy's girlfriend, and charged him with murder. Wendy Glendhill broke her silence to reveal that her son was diagnosed with schizophrenia in July 2025 and was taking medication. He had reportedly stopped taking them before the murder occurred.

Handy was known for his supporting roles in cult classic films like 1995's Jumanji. He also appeared in a small role in Tom Cruise's 2022 blockbuster hitTop Gun: Maverick. The action film was his last credited role on the big screen. He was also known for his series, like playing the role of Arthur Devlin in Alias and Lou Handleman in Profiler. In 2021, he played a guest role in 9-1-1.

"I've just marveled, as somebody who knows you and loves you, at your strength," Jenna said. "You coming back here and leading this ship, which I know has not been easy. And yet, here you are, morning after morning, getting out of bed, spending the mornings with us. And I know so many of you at home feel the same way about you."

As the former first daughter spoke, Savannah got teary-eyed. She then replied, "First of all, I can't even really look at you every day without crying. You are my best friend. You know, it's just really hard to come back. And I've been trying so hard to hold it together. And I promise I will."

Savannah continued, "This show and this hour, especially, is, like, about joy. But having you, everyone behind the scenes, people in my ear, the producers, our cast mates, it's like, when I see you in the morning, I know that you see me no matter what is going on. Sometimes it's almost too much because I feel like to do the job, I've got to, like, keep it together, pull it together, you know."

Mick Jagger's Daughter, Georgia May, Is a Beauty

While his son may have a great sense of humor, Mick Jagger‘s daughter, Georgia May Jagger, showed the world she's a true blonde beauty as she rolled around in a field of daffodils to promote her beauty line.

The daughter of the Rolling Stones icon, 34, who serves as the founder of May Botanicals, sports the same blonde hair as her Texan model mother, Jerry Hall. 'Country Music's Last Real Outlaw' Officially Announces Retirement, Final Tour: 'I Can't Do This Anymore'

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:41am

After a decade, Wheeler Walker Jr. is hanging up his microphone, officially announcing his retirement publicly today, Monday, June 8. Dubbed "country music's last real outlaw," the crooner isn't doing it quietly, either, as he's "riding off into the sunset, flipping double birds at Music Row the entire way out," according to a press release shared directly with Parade.

Before he departs from music, though, Walker is releasing one final album with an accompanying farewell tour, Pullin' Out, described as "a loud, filthy, bourbon-soaked middle finger aimed directly at the soul-less machine of modern Nashville."

“I can’t do this anymore,” Walker said in the release of his decision to retire, taking direct aim at the current country music landscape and AI: “Every song in Nashville is written by twelve idiots named Chase about trucks they don’t own and farms they never worked on. I really don't wanna be around when country music becomes fully AI, which sadly will be better than most of the crap they're putting out now.”

His sixth record produced by Grammy Award-winning Dave Cobb, the project is a "return to the hard-core country he knows and loves," following a detour into rock with his last album, 2023's Ram.

Like his previous work, it's said to be no-holds-barred: "Packed with savage commentary, gloriously offensive honesty, heartbreak, hangovers, and at least three songs that’ll probably get banned before release day, the record promises to remind fans what country music sounded like before the algorithms."

Walker first made waves with his debut album, the satirical, X-rated Redneck Sh*t, in February 2016. He made history by becoming the first-ever artist to simultaneously debut on the Billboard Top Comedy Albums and Top Country Albums charts, per Billboard.

On his last tour, the country artist is set to hit major markets across North America for the last time ever, hitting Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, Austin, Detroit, and multiple cities throughout Canada, with the final farewell show taking place at the Ryman on May 15, 2027. Tickets for Pullin' Out: The Farewell Tourgo on sale Friday, June 12, at 10 AM.

1984 Classic Became a Timeless Dance Anthem, Despite Being a One-Hit Wonder

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:41am

By 1985, you couldn't step into a club or turn on the radio without hearing Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)."

The song hit number one on the U.K. singles chart in March 1985 and reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Over the years, you may have seen Adam Sandler cover it in The Wedding Singer, caught the sample on Flo Rida and Kesha's "Right Round" or heard it soundtrack a roller-skating scene in Stranger Things.

Even after four decades, "You Spin Me Round" remains one of the most recognizable songs of the '80s (and the band's only hit). What you may not know is that the track that made their career almost never got made.

Dead or Alive's label, Epic, hated the song from the start. Frontman Pete Burns, in his 2007 autobiography Freak Unique, claimed he took out a £2,500 personal loan just to record it — only to be told by the label that it was awful.

The track was produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, a rising pop production team who were just as invested in its success. Producer Pete Waterman had first spotted Burns on BBC's Top of the Pops and was immediately “smitten” by his energy on stage.

When Burns later called requesting a collaboration, Waterman jumped at the chance despite the label's resistance and a budget so tight it was "almost impossible to make records with."

When both camps finally got into a London studio in 1984 to record three label-approved songs, Burns pulled Waterman aside before they started. "Can I play you this song we rehearsed at the weekend?" he asked. It was "Spin Me Round."

Waterman was hooked and suggested they forget the other three tracks. "We didn't have the budget and we certainly didn't have the permission of the record company to do it,” he recalled to Newsweek.

Over the next 14 days, the sessions grew increasingly tense, with Burns and the S.A.W. trio barely tolerating each other by the end. At one point, Waterman sent everyone home and spent the entire night mixing the track with audio engineer Phil Harding.

Burns came in the next morning not knowing what to expect. When he heard it, Waterman said, he “was like a little boy, he went barmy, he loved it.”

"The bassline took like four days to record. There were no computers in those days. We did everything by hand," the music producer recalled. "We knew from day one we wanted to break every rule. We didn't want the instruments to sound like instruments at all — if it sounded nothing like a guitar that would have suited us."

That iconic bass line wasn't even played on a bass guitar. “It’s a sound that Matt Aitken made up from steel girders being hit with a hammer,” Waterman revealed.

Despite the label's indifference, "You Spin Me Round" climbed to the top of the charts — though it took 17 weeks to get there.

S.A.W. rode the success into bigger things, eventually working with Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley. For Dead or Alive, it was as good as it ever got.

Burns didn't want to make the same song twice, and none of their follow-up singles found the same commercial success. Regardless, Waterman's feelings about the song have never changed.

"It was always a hit to me, from the first time you heard it."

Busch died of pneumonia leading to sepsis, according to a statement provided by the Busch family on Saturday morning, Yahoo News confirmed.

“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” the family said in a statement. “The Family asks for continued understanding and privacy during this difficult time.”

Yahoo added that twelve days before his death, Busch had complained of sinus issues while racing at Watkins Glen and asked for a doctor to visit him in his hauler after the race.

John Lithgow's Tony Win Sets a New Record

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:30am

The 79th Tony Awards celebrated another year of theatre. John Lithgow was nominated for an Oscar in 1983 for The World According to Garp, and in the next year for Terms of Endearment. He made Tony history with his third win on Sunday, June 8.

John Lithgow Is the Oldest Tony Winner to Win a Competitive Award

Lithgow became the oldest man to win a competitive Tony at 80 years old, according to Variety. He was awarded for his role as Roald Dahl in Giant, navigating his 1983 scandal in which he was criticized for his antisemitism. Roy Dotrice previously held the record for winning his feature-actor Tony in A Moon for the Misbegotten at 77.

"I’m such a lucky actor. This is my third Tony Award. My first one was 53 years ago at my Broadway debut in the American premiere of an English play, which by an amazing coincidence originated at London’s Royal Court Theatre, just like Giant,” Lithgow said.

He recognized writer Mark Rosenblatt in his speech. "I’ve had dozens and dozens of ecstatic moments on the stage, but I have to tell you right now, this moment has got to be one of the best," Lithgow said.

The Tony Award winner's performance was captured for a movie, but it's unclear how it'll be released. Aya Cash, Richard Hope, Tessa Bonham Jones, Elliot Levey, and Rachael Stirling are also in the cast.

Lithgow will also step into an iconic role after this achievement. He is playing Albus Dumbledore in HBO's Harry Potter series. Richard Harris then Michael Gambon portrayed the headmaster in the films. The first season will cover the book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Iconic 80s Actor Attends Unique Apple TV Event That Has Fans Calling Him ‘A Living Legend’

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:29am

Beloved actor Harrison Ford, best known for his massive influence on the film industry with his roles as Han Solo in Star Warsand the titular lead of Indiana Jones, has just attended a unique event for his most recent TV show, and fans are celebrating the star for his legendary status.

On June 6, the cast of Apple TV's popular comedy drama Shrinking came together for a public table read of the Season 3 finale, "And That's Our Time," which originally aired on April 8.

In a now viral video shared on Apple TV's official Instagram account, Ford, who plays Paul in the show, and Jason Segel, who plays main character Jimmy, perform an emotional scene in which Paul finally tells Jimmy that he loves him.

View this post on Instagram

The post is full of comments praising both performances, but commenters are especially highlighting Ford's legendary status. One commenter wrote, "Absolutely amazing, what a legend Harrison Ford is♥️," and another similarly said, "Harrison Ford is a living legend. A gift to us all ❤️."

Comments are also thanking those behind the show for getting Ford to play the role. One comment reads, "Thank you Apple for whatever you did to get Harrison F on this show ❤️" and another names co-creator Brett Goldstein in particular, saying, "Brett getting Harrison on this role, and Harrison accepting it, are such gifts to us 🤩."

Shrinking is an emotional, heartwarming streaming series that centers on Segel's character, Jimmy, as he navigates both his grief over losing his wife in a drunk driving accident and his career as a therapist. The basic premise sees Jimmy getting unprecedentedly close with his therapy patients as a means of healing his own wounds.

Ford's character, Paul, runs the therapy center, and although he is a very good therapist, he puts up a front as a grumpy older man, particularly when it comes to his interactions with Jimmy. As this scene shared by Apple TV confirms, though, he really does care about and even love Jimmy deep down.

Season 4 of Shrinking is confirmed to be in the works, but Apple TV has not yet announced a release date.

Is Stars Hollow Closing Up Shop? The Concerning Netflix Update That Has Gilmore Girls Fans Panicking

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:25am

When Gilmore Girls was added to Netflix in 2014, everyone knew it was the best thing the streamer could do. It immediately became a comfort binge-watch, but the time to do that may be coming to an end.

What’s on Netflix has shared that Gilmore Girls may be one of the shows leaving the streaming service in July 2026. This wouldn’t include the Netflix Original revival A Year in the Life, but it would mean that fans will need two streaming platforms to watch all seven seasons of the original series and then the revival.

Why Is ‘Gilmore Girls’ Possibly Leaving Netflix?

Don’t panic just yet, as there is still time for Netflix to secure the rights. As of right now, the licensing agreement is coming to an end. However, with no banner on the show’s page on the site, it indicates that Netflix is still fighting hard to keep those licensing rights, and it is something What’s on Netflix remarks.

This has happened before with other shows, including Arrested Development. If the series is pulling in the subscribers, it ends up making sense for Netflix to spend big numbers on licensing agreements.

However, there has been a move in recent years for studios to get their content back for their own streaming platforms. When Gilmore Girls first went to Netflix in 2014, Warner Bros. didn’t have its own platform. Now it has HBO Max, and it’s possible that it wants to benefit from its own content.

‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ Will Remain on Netflix

It’s worth noting that removing all seven seasons of the comfort binge won’t mean that fans can’t revisit Stars Hollow on Netflix. A Year in the Life will remain, as this is a Netflix Original series.

Yes, there have been Originals that have been removed. In fact, there is one coming up in July. However, that’s for the licensed originals, which A Year in the Life wasn’t. This was produced by Netflix, making it one of the official Originals in the United States. It’s much harder for it to be removed from the service.

Gilmore Girls has been a firm favorite on Netflix, so the news is sure to be distressing. It's one of those comfort binges, whether you're Team Dean, Team Jess, or Team Logan. This is a good time to revisit Stars Hollow for the perfect cup of coffee, just in case.

Doctors Say This Retirement Problem Is as Harmful as 'Smoking 15 Cigarettes a Day'

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:15am

Your career provided you with a steady income and the opportunity to save for retirement, but it also gave you something else. No one thinks about the social structure they’ll leave behind when they retire from their job. But a lack of meaningful social interaction in retirement is more common than you think, and its repercussions affect more than just your social life.

Your Job Did The Work

For years, you built relationships at your job. We all joke about the work wife or your office bestie, but those relationships provided the framework for a rich social life you didn’t notice you were a part of.

Harvard's Study of Adult Development affirms that “the quality of your relationships, not your money or professional achievements, is the strongest predictor of health and happiness in later life,” reports Kiplinger.

Your time in the office every week was doing more than helping you pad your nest egg. It helped you exist within a social structure. The sudden loss of that can feel jarring and lead to increased loneliness among recent retirees, according to a study of Western countries by the National Library of Medicine.

The Health Risks of Loneliness

“Unresolved, ongoing loneliness is equal to smoking three-fourths of a pack, or 15 cigarettes per day, on one’s health,” said Jay Weatherill, MD, psychiatrist at Avera Medical Group Behavioral Health.

In a 2023 report by the Surgeon General, the effects of loneliness on mortality were found to be more harmful than those of obesity or a lack of physical activity. On top of that, feeling lonely increases the risk for dementia by 31%, according to a study of 600,000 participants funded by the National Institute on Aging and published in Nature Mental Health.

Those are some pretty startling statistics, but they don’t stop there. The same Avera Medical Group report notes that loneliness releases more cortisol, which contributes to the increase of chronic conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and cognitive decline, to name a few.

Fortunately, these heightened health risks are completely avoidable.

What You Can Do

The best way to combat loneliness in your retirement years is to start now. Treat your social investment like a financial one by making it regular, intentional, and varied. If you don’t know where to start, you can begin by reigniting your curiosity. Diversify your social connections by spreading them out.

Retirement is often the time to revisit the things you put aside when you were younger in favor of building your career. In this chapter, you’ve built your savings, and now it’s time to build your social life. Join a gym, pick up a hobby, or try a part-time job like working at an independent bookstore.

By planning how you’ll stay socially engaged, you can take control of loneliness. Treat your social relationships like your retirement savings with mindful and purposeful actions, and you won’t have to worry about spending your years alone.

President Donald Trump Storms Out of 'Meet the Press' Interview Over Election Claims

Mon, 06/08/2026 - 11:13am

United States President Donald Trump walked out of an interview with NBC's Kristen Welker on Meet the Press, with the episode airing on Sunday, June 7.

But the actual interview took place on Friday, June 5, with the pair sitting down at a farm in Wisconsin to talk about a series of topics. Among them was a conversation surrounding the 2020 U.S. presidential election, in which Trump has continuously claimed was "rigged."

He also made similar claims regarding the current primary elections in California. Welker challenged this, asking Trump if he had specific evidence regarding the California election, but he said:  "All I have to do is look, and I listen." She then responded, "That's not evidence."

And from there, tensions grew. Welker also pressed the President on his $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund that will protect the individuals who claim they were improperly targeted by the government, which could include some involved in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capital.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with the weaponization fund,” Trump stated. “I love the idea, because people like you, the fake dirty press, the crooked press, people like stupid Biden, he’s not smart enough to know what’s going on, but people that surrounded him, surrounded his beautiful Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, what they did to the lives of people, they destroyed people. They sent people to jail who did nothing wrong.”

“Just to be very clear, there’s no evidence of what you’re saying,” Welker replied.

And with that, Trump took direct aim at Welker and the news program, saying that "you’re crooked, your press is crooked. And ‘Meet the Press’ is crooked."

Ultimately, he stormed off the set.

“Let's call it quits, because I've had enough,” Trump said. "Thank you, darling. Have a good time.”

Here is the full transcript of the interview.
