‘Dancing With the Stars’ Legend Reveals Childhood Bullies Tied Him up and Put a Gun to His Head
Derek Hough is an accomplished ballroom dancer, choreographer, singer, and actor. He has won Dancing with the Starssix times and has since become a judge for the show. Although dancing has helped him rise to fame, he recently revealed that he used to be tormented by other kids in his neighborhood, partially due to the fact that he was a dancer.
“We had these neighbors who were — bullying is kind of too nice of a word — they tormented me,” he said during "The Bossticks" podcast on May 25. “They would hang me up in a tree by my ankles and put a gun to my head and spit on me or hogtie me in a field. I was scared. I would have night terrors and I would wet the bed. I was a scared kid, I was a terrified kid. Scared of the dark, scared of my shadow, just scared and constantly on edge.”

Hough continued, “I was always on the outside just trying to fit in and get in there. Being a dancer didn't help. I would get the crap beaten out of me. At one school, a kid punched me in the face. I'm bleeding everywhere, but then I retaliated and started beating him up, and then I got expelled from school.”
When speaking with Parade at the Disney Upfront, he also spoke about this time of his life. “I got into a lot of fights when I was a kid," he said. "I got bullied a lot, so I got beaten up a lot, so I had to fight back.”
During a panel discussion earlier this year, Hough spoke about how much Dancing with the Stars means to him, since it has changed the way that many people view dance, and has shown that dance is an art for athletes.
“For me, having a platform and having a stage like Dancing with the Stars that is elevating dance to new heights over this past, almost, 20 years, I can't tell you how much it means to me on some deeper level than just a compliment,” he said, as reported by PEOPLE. “It means a lot more because to see that little boy that grew up when dancing wasn't cool, and to see where it's now — it's looked at as artistic athletes. Dancers are artistic athletes. And that, for me, is just an amazing thing. So, I'm just thankful for this beautiful show that has elevated dance so much.”

1980 Rock Classic, Released After a Major Band Tragedy, Re-Enters the Charts 46 Years Later
In the wake of an unexpected death, AC/DC released a hit hard rock track that started a new era for the band. The 1980 song has regained popularity and has entered the Billboard charts.
"You Shook Me All Night" currently sits at No. 25 on Billboard's Hard Rock Streaming Songs charts, almost 46 years since it was originally released in mid August of 1980. The track has proven that the band still stands as one of the most iconic in the genre and music industry, with its backstory one that tugs at the heart.
Released as part of their Back in Black album, "You Shook Me All Night" was the first song released by AC/DC with new frontman Brian Johnson. His inclusion in the band came after the sudden death of lead vocalist Bon Scott from alcohol poisoning in February of that year. According to American Songwriter, the band initially refused to create new music until Scott's father urged them to keep playing and find a new singer.
Johnson would reveal that guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young had already developed the base of the track and asked him to create its lyrics. Wanting to impress his new bandmates, he wrote the rest of the song that same night.
“Malcolm and Angus said, ‘Hey listen, we got this song,’ and if you listen to the chords it just fell in anyway, so I can’t claim any credit on that. The rest was just filler, the verses, and it all worked out smashing," said Johnson.
"You Shook Me All Night" landed at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts upon its release, but became a solidified classic among fans. It's often been tagged as one of the best tracks of the '80s and for having one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. Johnson calls it one of his favorites and "I still think it’s one of the greatest rock and roll riffs I’ve ever heard in my life."
There's some lore behind the song, with multiple claims having come out saying Scott wrote part of the lyrics. A former girlfriend, Silver Smith, claimed he had written some of the song in her London apartment back in 1976. Another girlfriend claimed certain words and lyrics related to her, like her horse Doubletime.
Journalist Malcolm Dome also reported many times that Scott had shown him his book of ideas and scribbles of songs for the band. Many of them were for the Back to Black album, with certain scribbled lyrics later becoming part of "You Shook Me All Night Long." Scott has never been officially credited for creating the track, with Dome saying, "to this day no one's really sure what happened."
The song and album marked a major change for the band with Scott's replacement after his death. They even hesitated on whether fans would accept Johnson and if the album would even be popular. Back to Black was dedicated to Scott, with the track becoming a signature hit for the band.
Brendan Fraser's 'Pressure' Reveals the D-Day Secret That Almost Changed History
Releasing ahead of the 82nd anniversary of D-Day on June 6, Pressure is a riveting drama starring Brendan Fraser, Andrew Scott and Chris Messina. The film shines a spotlight on the intense preparations for the largest seaborne invasion in history—one which marked the beginning of the end of World War II.
But Pressure isn't a war movie—it's a weather movie. The film centers on the high-stakes calculations, analytics and storms-or-shine head-butting that went into planning the 1944 invasion, which involved some 300,000 Allied troops, a naval armada and airborne reinforcements. It's the true story behind the far-better-known one—predicting the optimal time to slip the mission between two monstrous North Atlantic storms brewing offshore while keeping it a secret from the Germans—and ultimately pulling off one of the riskiest Hail Marys in modern history.
The plot centers on Group Capt. James Staggs (Scott)—a no-nonsense Scot and the highest-ranking meteorologist in Great Britain’s Royal Air Force—who is brought aboard to head the invasion task force monitoring the weather. But he clashes with Irving Kirk (Messina)—a cocky military climatologist from California. And at the top of it all is Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower (Fraser), the Supreme Commander of the Allied forces.
Tempers flare as Staggs and Kirk spar over what kind of weather they think is coming to the coast of France, with Kirk insisting the date set for the invasion will be bright and sunny. Staggs, meanwhile, is steadfast in predicting abnormally unstable conditions with massive waves, torrential rain and near-zero visibility. Can Staggs convince the military that the invasion, as planned, will confront “the wrath of nature” and likely fail?
Related: The Meaning Behind ‘Twilight Zone’ Day Might Trace Back to World War II
None of the brass assembled in England sides with Staggs, or believes what he tells them about the desperate need to postpone their plans. They’re all rarin’ to go, particularly Britain’s battle-hardened Field Marshal Montgomery (Damien Lewis). Only Eisenhower’s chief aide, Kay Summersby (Kerry Condon), has a sympathetic ear for Staggs, especially after he gets some devastating news about a bombing back in Scotland that hits horribly close to home.
The movie’s title is appropriate. The invasion planning is a high-pressure situation, with hundreds of thousands of lives—and even the fate of the free world—hanging in the balance. What if Staggs steers the Allied forces wrong? But pressure also has meteorological significance, with atmospheric barometric pressure an augur of what the skies are going to do.
Related: Why Tom Hanks’s Newest WWII Project Is So Personal For His Family
The cast is top-notch, all conveying the magnitude of the decisions shaping the situation as the clock ticks away and days become hours. Director Anthony Maris (Hotel Mumbai) masterfully ratchets up the tension with every scene, never letting his characters slip into simple stereotypes. Fraser in particular puts another notch in his dramatic acting belt, following up his acclaimed roles in The Whale and Rental Family. Yes, the guy who once played Tarzan and George of the Jungle makes you feel both the crush and the crunch borne by the Supreme Allied Commander.
The D-Day landing has been depicted in numerous movies—including Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day and The Big Red One. This one also shows the bullets flying and bodies falling as the Allies come ashore, but that’s not its focus.
It’s a riveting backstory of weather pros and military honchos, all hunkered down behind the battle lines while orchestrating a pivotal moment that would go down in history one way or another, as a hard-won success or a cataclysmic failure. We see Eisenhower presenting two statements on the eve of the invasion, one to read if it were a success, and the other taking full responsibility if—as Field Marshal Montgomery puts it—the free world ends up overrun by goose-stepping to Hitler’s drumbeat.
In Pressure, that pressure is palpable, the stakes sky-high and the risks nothing less than global. See it and be reminded of a fraught moment in time when the winds of change, and the end of World War II, might have easily gone another way.
Pressure is rated PG-13 and arrives in theaters on Friday, May 29.
'Beyond the Gates' Star Reveals Why He’s Ready to Move Past Romance for a Major Character 'Beef'
Beyond the Gates star Robert Christopher Riley has been involved in one of the soap's biggest triangles in Nicole’s love life, but the Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald actor has shared who he hopes to work with more in the future.
Riley was interviewed by M. Skye for TV Source Magazine, where he discussed the similarities of Beyond the Gates production style to the grueling pace of a Tyler Perryproduction, along with Carlton’s complicated love life and so much more.
During the conversation, Riley discussed the types of storylines he would like to see Carlton explore in the future. “I think it should be a head-to-head with something a little bit more serious.”
The actor highlighted how his current storylines all revolve around romance, as his character is one point in the Nicole/Carlton/Kial (Greg Vaughan) triangle, and he would like to see that expanded more in the near future.
His first suggestion? Expanding upon a current confrontational relationship. “Some beef with Joey [Armstrong]. Jon [Lindstrom] is amazing, and he has that booming theater voice, as do I. I don’t know who’d come out alive, but that would be fun to do.”
Of course, Riely added he would love to work with the Dupree matriarch herself, Tamara Tunie. “Although we’re on the same show and I see her in passing, she’s been very complimentary of my work, which I greatly appreciate.”
The actor also added that he would love to work more with Nicole’s sister, Dani Dupree, played by Karla Mosley. “Karla’s just so quick; she’s just so snappy with her responses, and I love that type of energy.”
Regardless, fans will have to stay tuned to see who exactly Riely interacts with in the future and how Carlton navigates life, as his current love triangle appears to be expanding, with Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) circling the block in Nicole's life, could the triangle be expanding to a quad?
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS with episodes streaming weeknights on Paramount+.
Viewers can catch up on all of the drama from Fairmount Crest from the beginning of the series on Paramount+ or for free on Pluto TV’s dedicated 24/7 Beyond the Gates FAST channel.
This Sturdy 12-Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set Has Made Costco Shoppers Retire Their Le Creuset Sets for Good
Home kitchens are no longer just functional spaces for throwing together quick meals before moving on with the day. Cooking has become part hobby, part comfort ritual and part lifestyle aesthetic all at the same time. Social media has played a huge role in that shift, with beautifully plated pasta, homemade soups, sizzling sauté pans, and slow-cooked comfort meals dominating feeds daily.
At the same time, shoppers are becoming more intentional about investing in cookware that feels durable, timeless and built for real everyday use. Stainless steel cookware, in particular, has made a huge comeback because it gives kitchens an elevated, chef-inspired feel while still being practical enough for everyday meals.
😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔
That growing interest in professional-inspired cookware is exactly why multi-piece stainless steel sets are trending. Instead of piecing together random pans over time, more people want complete cookware collections that feel cohesive both visually and functionally.
Tramontina 12-Piece Tri-Ply Clad Stainless Steel Cookware Set, $189.99 at CostcoCostco
One set getting serious attention right now is the Tramontina 12-Piece Tri-Ply Clad Stainless Steel Cookware Set from Costco. Priced at $189.99, the set delivers the polished, high-end kitchen look people usually associate with much more expensive cookware. It includes an eight-inch sauté pan, a 10-inch sauté pan, a three-quart covered deep sauté pan, a 1.5-quart covered sauce pan, a three-quart covered sauce pan, a five-quart covered Dutch oven, and an eight-quart covered stock pot.
The cookware itself leans heavily into the professional-kitchen aesthetic currently dominating social feeds. The fine-brushed exterior finish, paired with the satin interior, gives the set a clean, refined appearance, while the mirror-polished stainless steel lids and handles make it feel even more premium. It has that substantial, heavy-duty look people gravitate toward because it instantly makes a kitchen feel more elevated.
Performance and practicality also play a major role in why stainless steel cookware keeps trending. The Tramontina Gourmet Collection is compatible with all cooktops, oven-safe up to 500°F, and dishwasher-safe, making it a perfect fit for modern lifestyles where convenience matters just as much as appearance.
One customer review perfectly captures why shoppers are gravitating toward this cookware set right now: "The thickness of these pieces is beyond what I had expected. I retired a set of le creuset for these and I could not be happier. They are easy to live with easy to clean and appear to be well made. Compared to an all clad pan I have these are a little heavier. I appreciate that the handles are attached with rivets and not spot welds. The lids aren't terribly thick but not so thin as to feel cheap. For the price I don't see how you could do a lot better. Unless they warp or fail in some way these are a tremendous value."
That kind of feedback reflects what shoppers are prioritizing right now. People want cookware that feels dependable, substantial and designed for long-term use instead of temporary trends.

Chelsea Handler Recalls 'Messy' Date With 'Cheap' Bobby Flay
Chelsea Handler is not afraid to name names.
During her appearance on Kristin Cavallari’sLet’s Be Honest podcast on Tuesday, May 26, the comedian opened up about some of her worst celebrity dating experiences—including one particularly awkward encounter with celebrity chef Bobby Flay that apparently ended with Handler getting stuck with the bill.
When Cavallari asked if she had a bad celebrity date story the public didn’t know about, Handler immediately responded, “Yeah, I went on a date with Bobby Flay. That was pretty bad.”
According to Handler, the two had been set up through mutual friends and started “talking on the phone” and “flirting a little bit” before things escalated into what she thought was a thoughtful gesture. While staying at a hotel with friends, Handler said Flay offered to order room service for the group because he “knew the hotel well.” You’d think that would mean he was paying for it, but according to Handler, that wasn't the case.
“But then they brought me the bill, and I’m like, what, what is this guy?” Handler recalled. “And then like somebody was like, ‘Oh yeah, he's really cheap.’”

Handler then revealed she hates cheap people. “If you're penurious, I'm not interested in you. I'm generous, and I like people to be generous with their money.”
The pair still went on an actual date afterward, though Handler said it became obvious pretty quickly that they weren’t compatible. “It was just not a match,” she explained. “It was messy, messy.”
Flay, for his part, went on to find love with Food Network star Brooke Williamson. The pair have been dating since March 2025, and recently celebrated their one-year anniversary with a trip to Tokyo.
The dating confessions came during a broader conversation about aging, therapy, independence, and why Handler says she’s happiest staying single. At 51, the comedian explained she’s no longer interested in traditional long-term relationships, adding that she prefers “a good sexy affair” over becoming part of a “unit.” And someone who will at least front the bill.
Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin Are 'Deeply Iconic' In Daring Photoshoot
Longtime Hollywood couple Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin are turning heads with their latest photoshoot.
In images taken by Los Angeles photographer Eli Russell Linnetz, the couple posed for a variety of photos, which included them half-dressed — with Rinna strategically sporting a tie around her neck for coverage. The bold shots were shared to Instagram and were complete with a caption explaining how the famed couple "represent a uniquely Californian vision of celebrity."
"Few couples embody the spirit of Los Angeles quite like Lisa and Harry," the post read. "After nearly thirty years of marriage, they represent a uniquely Californian vision of celebrity — where Hollywood, television, fashion, and personal mythology converge."

The evocative photos, where Rinna and Hamlin coordinated in matching brown ensembles for some of the images, garnered tons of reactions from friends, fans, and even one of their daughters.
"I can’t," the couple's 24-year-old daughter, Amelia Gray Hamlin, commented.
"Beautiful couple," said a fan, while another added that the photos were, "deeply iconic."
However, another fan had an idea for the couple's next project.
"These two have to be on a season of 'White Lotus,'" they suggested. "Have to."
Rinna sported her full look — which included a brown blazer and matching trousers along with the cheeky tie — at Monday night's American Music Awards where she presented the award for "Best Throwback Song."
While the former soap opera star and "Clash of the Titans" icon have been together for decades, their supportive relationship found its way into the spotlight during Rinna's stint on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Hamlin's appearances typically always showcased their love for each other while continuing to be working actors and raising Amelia as well older daughter Delilah Belle Hamlin.

Of their decades-long marriage, Rinna told Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his podcast earlier this year that she credits their "mutual respect" for each other as "the key" to their relationship.
"The minute you start to devalue one another, that's when you gotta go to therapy and stop that," she said. "Because it's easy. Resentment builds up, and you could be, like, mad from 20 years ago and not even know it."

If You Loved ‘The Chateau,’ Jaclyn Goldis Is Back With Another ‘Enjoyable’ Thriller
When it comes to thrillers, Jaclyn Goldis knows how to write — and how to write well! The Last Time We Saw Her is the new novel coming out on June 16, 2026, and it will be just as unputdownable as all the rest!
You know Goldis for her The Chateau and The Safari, among other wonderful thrillers. She brings the world to life, with her novels often jetting us to places we’ve never been before, and that’s the case with the latest release.
The Last Time We Saw Her takes us on an adventure ot the “Hawaii of Europe,” Azores. It all starts 10 years earlier, when a group of American campers headed to São Miguel for a heritage trip. That trip would change their lives forever, and not in a positive way. The “It Girl,” Sydney Azulay, went missing during that trip, and everyone believes that she is likely dead.
Courtesy of Simon & Schuster10 years later, Sydney’s father decides to host a memorial. Everyone who was close to her will attend, but you know what that means. Old feuds come back to the surface, and accusations tend to be made. When one of them turns up dead, they know that there has to be a murderer among them, and this time they need ot get to the bottom of it all.
There’s also an element of a lost treasure to add to the plot. Is it possible that this is something Sydney was killed for, or did Sydney die at all? That’s likely the biggest question that runs through the entire novel.
Just like with her other novels, Goldis brings Jewish characters to the forefront, while also managing to find the balance between “dark and joyful,” according to Hadassah Magazine.
Booklist has noted the novel as an “enjoyable read by a popular author,” while Publishers Weekly share that this is something for all the Riley Sager fans out there. It’s also great for fans of Lucy Foley and Lisa Jewell.
If you're looking for a summer mystery, then you'll need to pick up The Last Time We Saw Her on June 16, 2026.
‘80s Soap Icon Who Starred in the Highest-Rated Episode in Daytime History Turns 64 Today
Happy birthday to Genie Francis! The iconic soap star turns 64 today, and fans are sending their heartfelt wishes to the General Hospital ‘GOAT.’
Who Is Genie Francis? There are soap actresses, and then there’s Genie Francis. Best known for her breakout role as Laura Spencer on the legendary soap opera General Hospital, Francis made history with her fictional two-day wedding to Luke Spencer (played by actor Anthony Geary, who passed away in 2025). The iconic event aired on November 16 and 17, 1981, drawing in an estimated 30 million viewers.
Of course, General Hospital was not the actress’s first job. Francis, who was born on May 26, 1962, in Englewood, New Jersey, made her acting debut on Aaron Spelling’sABC drama Family at 14. The daughter of Canadian actor Ivor Francis and model Rosemary Daley, Genie looked bound for fame at an early age.
Francis was still a teen when she was cast as Laura on General Hospital. The actress was only 19 when she skyrocketed to fame as part of the dynamic Luke and Laura duo.

NYC, NY 1978 (Photo by Joe McNally/Getty Images).Their story was one of the most enduring and beloved soap-mances on daytime TV. But the couple’s love affair started off on a rocky note. Francis’s character wasn’t initially paired up with Luke when she made her General Hospital debut in 1977 as Laura Webber/Vining. Laura’s first marriage was to Scotty Baldwin (played by actor Kin Shriner).
Life in Post Charles wasn’t all roses for Laura. In 1979, her storyline made controversy when she fell in love with her rapist—Luke Spencer. After making a 360 and falling in love, the couple’s subsequent life together drew in audiences and captivated the public’s attention in a way that no couple before (and possibly no couple after) had.
Why Did Genie Francis Become So Popular? The wedding of Luke and Laura was more than just another soap stunt. It was a worldwide phenomenon that drew attention beyond the show’s regular viewers. Not only did fans tune in to watch the iconic couple say their I do’s, but the episodes also featured a legendary guest star. Actress Elizabeth Taylor played the cameo role of Helena Cassidine (the wife of Mikkos Cassidine).
Buzz for the beloved couple’s nuptials grew to such a frenzy that celebs even sent their well-wishes.Princess Diana famously sent a bottle of champagne to the actors in celebration of the ceremony.

Why 1978 Oscar Nominee Pushed for a Dance Solo in 'Saturday Night Fever'
The 1977 movie,Saturday Night Fever put disco at the forefront of a coming-of-age story. John Travolta dancing in that white suit is iconic.
But the movie almost didn't originally include his character ditching his dance partner to show off his moves alone. This is why Travolta, 72, fought to change that.
John Travolta Trained in Dancing for 5 Months for 'Saturday Night Fever'The teenage Tony Manero blew off steam at night with dancing. There is a scene of him leaving a woman in a green dress to take over the floor as the Bee Gees' "You Should Be Dancing" played. Everyone in the disco watched and cheered him along.
Related: 1952 Musical Ranked No. 1 for Most Difficult Dance for a Movie Role
"The partner dancing is fun and it looks great, and everything," Travolta told Brian Linehan. "But I said, 'You'll never make the audience believe that he can get the attention that he'd be getting like he does in the film or the way he can clear a floor without some sort of history to it.'"
The actor believed it was a "cop out" to not show Tony Manero handling the dance floor on his own. Travolta trained to dance in the film for five months, and producers still questioned including a dance solo.
"I didn't train five months to just do the partner dance," he said. "I could've done that before. I said I want to do what I worked on doing."
The actor's work paid off with him receiving a nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role. It was also far from the last time he would dance on screen. The next year Grease was released Pulp Fiction, and Hair Spray were released later.

Amanda Batula & West Wilson Leave the U.S. Before Explosive ‘Summer House’ Reunion
Amanda Batula and West Wilson were spotted leaving the country ahead of the explosive "Summer House" reunion, which will be airing on Bravo this week.
TMZ reports that the couple was spotted at the airport heading to Italy, with sources close to the couple confirming to the outlet that Batula is Wilson's "plus-1 to his cousin's wedding abroad."
Batula and Wilson's romance shocked fans everywhere, as Wilson previously dated Batula's best friend Ciara Miller. He is also close with Batula's estranged husband, Kyle Cooke, who also stars on the hit Bravo show. The couple confirmed things on March 31, posting joint statements on Instagram where they expressed that they have "shown up for each other as friends over the years, through all the highs and lows.
"And what’s developed recently was the last thing either of us expected," the statement continued. "Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care.”
Ahead of the reunion, audio was leaked in which Miller can be heard talking to Batula and Wilson, in which she calls her former best friend a "snake." In a teaser shared by the network, Miller also claimed that Wilson only got with Batula to "spite her."
“He wants to embarrass me," she added. "He wants to get his last little word. And I hope it works, because he’s with you to spite me.”
And recently, Miller told Peoplethat she is not interested in reconciliation with Batula following this betrayal.
“Yeah, for sure," she responded when asked about whether the friends are officially "dunzo."
“I couldn’t do this to my worst enemy,” she added. “The reunion was quite the day, but we’re on to bigger and better and, you know, we can say goodbye to certain things.
Part 1 of the “Summer House” reunion airs on Tuesday, May 26 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
“I’m ready to face the chaos and clear everything up," Batula says in a clip posted by Bravo.
'Cinema's First Female Action Star' Turns 77
Pam Grier, hailed as "cinema's first female action star" by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, is celebrating another year around the sun today, May 26, 2026, as she turns 77 years old. The iconic actress is widely regarded as a trailblazer in the film industry, knocking down barriers as a Black woman who saw massive success in the action genre.
"One of the most iconic figures in American cinema and pop culture over the past 50 years," according to the Wexner Center of the Arts, "combined an ass-kicking physical presence with subversive sex appeal, setting her apart from other women actors of her generation."
A Winston-Salem, North Carolina native, she moved to Los Angeles and began working as a receptionist for American International Pictures before being discovered by director Jack Hill and beginning her career on-screen. Shortly after the move, Grier was cast in a series of smaller films, including The Big Bird Cage (1972), but her standout performances in blaxploitationfilms Coffy (1973) and Foxy Brown (1974) served as her breakthrough roles.
Throughout the 1970s, Grier continued building her reputation with films such as Sheba, Baby, Friday Foster, Bucktown, and Black Mama White Mama. Her performances combined toughness, charisma, glamour, and emotional depth, helping establish a blueprint later followed by generations of female action stars.

(Photo by Silver Screen Collection/Getty Images)Decades later, Tarantino cast her in a lead role written specifically for her, 1997's Jackie Brown, reigniting her career and earning Grier Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. The hit was an adaptation of the 1992 crime novel by Elmore Leonard, Rum Punch.
"It was one of those things that I knew a good idea when I saw it. I thought Pam is perfect for the role. She is the exact right age. She looks younger, and she looks like she can handle anything. By doing that, it turned it into a Pam Grier movie. Nothing wrong with that. That sounds good; another Pam Grier movie I would like to see. Then it became very easy. The fact that she is black ended up giving the piece even more depth; not in a cheesy way or a cheap way," the director told The Guardian at the time of casting Grier. "Pam is such an icon. To one degree or another, it is like casting John Wayne in a movie."
In the 2000s and 2010s, Grier remained a prominent screen presence through films and television series such as The L Word, Ghosts of Mars, Law & Order: SVU, Bless This Mess, and numerous independent films. Beyond acting, she published her memoir Foxy: My Life in Three Acts, detailing both her groundbreaking career and personal struggles, including surviving stage-four cervical cancer after being diagnosed in 1988.
Today, the legendary actress' influence extends far beyond her early beginnings in blaxploitation films. Her groundbreaking portrayals of strong Black women reshaped action cinema and helped open doors for future actresses across Hollywood.
Happy 77th birthday, Pam Grier!

Spotify Is Changing the Way We Read Articles To Help Introduce More People to Audiobooks
Spotify is adding another element to its arsenal: Articles. The new feature added on May 26, 2026, offers a way to listen to long-form magazine articles. The aim is to bring more listeners to podcasts, audiobooks, and more.
Articles, which is the name of the new addition, offers narrated articles from a variety of publishers. So far the likes of Vanity Fair, Variety, Vogue, and The Atlantic have joined in, with a curated collection of stories. Each narrated Article comes in at less than two hours in length.
Premium users will be able to listen to the Articles through their current subscription. However, if you already listen to audiobooks, there is a slight problem. The Articles limit is included in the audiobook limit, which can differ for individuals. Another downside is that if you’re part of a Family or Duo Plan, only the Plan Manager gets access to the allowance, so that will mean the Articles isn’t included. If you don’t have a premium subscription or any allowance due to the type of plan you’re on, you can purchase Articles for $1.99.
The aim of this is simple: to help get more people involved in listening to audiobooks. With only up to two hours of listening, it’s easier to focus on topics that people love, and this can help encourage everyone to listen to more. As people create healthier listening habits, they can then add one of the audiobooks to their list.
After all, the idea of listening to a 30-hour audiobook can be daunting. Even an eight-hour audiobook can be a little too much for some people, so many need a gateway to explore longer-form listening, and Spotify believes that this is the way to do it.
It’s hard to believe that it’s only been two years since the audiobooks section of Spotify was launched. Since then, the top 20 most popular books have been revealed, and it’s clear that romantasy and dark romance lead the way for listeners. Since then, Page Match, Recaps, and Follow Along have all been added features, and Spotify has noticed that the number of listening hours has grown 60% over the years.

I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be…that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here. The 4 Birth Months With the Most Introverted Souls
Simply Psychology defines introverted individuals as those who "tend to be quiet, reserved, and prefer solitary activities." While extroverts thrive in social settings and enjoy spending time with loved ones, introverts recharge by spending time alone and reflecting, often without expecting to interact with others. Although introverts can have fulfilling relationships, there are four birth months that are more likely to produce introverts. According to expert astrologers, these individuals possess a soulful depth that is best understood by themselves rather than by others.
Which Birth Months Are Most Likely to Be Introverted?Check for your birth month below.
February — The Introvert Who Lives Mostly in Their Own MindNavigating life with a rich inner world, those born in February are wise beyond their years. From early childhood, even adults can sense the old-soul wisdom that lies behind their gentle eye contact. As humanitarian spirits who wish to bring greater healing to humanity, they can be sensitive to the grief, anger, or hurt feelings of those they encounter.
Alone time allows them not only to recenter in their own truth but also to daydream, create, and bring higher ideals down to earth. These introverted souls aren't here to bend to the mold. Rather, they are meant to shake up the status quo by carefully aligning with their innermost vision, bringing what some call fantasy into reality.
July — The Introvert Who Stays Home and Doesn't Feel Bad About ItJuly-borns are private, often retreating into their shell. Either a nostalgic Cancer or a bold Leo, this birth month reaches for emotional nurturance and safety. Therefore, they're often found at home. And why not?
They prefer a close-knit family or communal connections over a bustling social life with random encounters. People born in July seek alignment with their innermost intuition, preferring the quiet strength of their inner knowing over external validation. The hum of their soul brings them back into resonance with their true calling and alignment, making time in solitude deeply introspective and valuable.
Learn more about these birth months:
Born in February | Born in July | Born in September | Born in November
September — The Introvert Who Observes Everything and Says Very LittleWhen you have a friend who values quality over quantity and invites you into their personal world, it certainly makes you feel special. An introverted September-born person is selective about whom they share their energy with. Whether they are a detail-oriented Virgo or a diplomatic Libra, they possess excellent conversational skills and can engage with many people.
However, despite their ability to engage in intellectual conversations, they genuinely prefer quiet time, either to themselves or with a few trusted loved ones. Analytical and highly observant, they notice things that many others miss. As a result, they are more mindful about their choice of inner circle than most. Coming from a place of grounded self-fulfillment, they do not seek out relationships to complete them but rather look for connections that add value to their lives.
November — The Introvert Who Only Opens Up to a Chosen FewNovember-borns are often the most private among all birth months. They tend to be selective about who gets to see their true selves. Whether they are mysterious Scorpios or philosophical Sagittarians, these individuals are marked by a lack of superficiality. When they care, they invest their whole hearts in relationships, and small talk is not their style. Instead, they prefer engaging in conversations that feel transformative or aspirational. In solitude, they can quickly connect the dots between their conscious and unconscious minds, uncovering profound insights and a deeper sense of purpose. They often inspire change in others. While some may feel intimidated by their depth, November-born individuals do not mind. They are comfortable with who they are, flaws and all, and would rather spend time alone than force connections with others.
