During the summer, I keep a pair of slide sandals by my door that I can slip on to grab the mail or take the dog out. After undergoing surgery to remove a nodule from his lung, Pope Leo has been diagnosed with lung cancer says the Vatican.

According to CBS News, the pontiff was found to have a diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma. The news outlet reported, “The Vatican said the diagnosis had been suspected by preoperative tests and was confirmed during surgery.”

CBS News shared a statement that read, “To ensure a radical resection, the lower lobe of the right lung was removed using a video-assisted technique. Intraoperative histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of pulmonary adenocarcinoma, as suspected from pre-operative tests.”

EWTN News shared further details of the Vatican’s statement. “The Holy Father was in the operating room for approximately three hours, while the procedure itself lasted about 90 minutes. The operation was successful, and there were no complications. After surgery, the pope regained consciousness normally and, following a brief period of observation, returned to his room on the 10th floor.”

EWTN added, “Further postoperative tests, including a histological examination, are expected in the coming days. Doctors have not discussed chemotherapy or similar treatments at this stage.”

According to USA Today, the 71-year-old pontiff underwent a scheduled surgery after doctors discovered a nodule on one of his lungs after a recent checkup. The Vatican originally expected the pope’s recovery to take around one week, and his schedule had been cleared through October 20. That timeline has not yet been changed.

The pontiff was scheduled to visit South Africa in early November. Pope Leo was set to travel to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from Nov. 6-17. However, now that a cancer diagnosis has been revealed, there has been no confirmation of whether or not this trip will proceed as scheduled.

Unlike a president or head of state, there is no other person to step into the role when a pope is hospitalized. USA Today reported that Vatican business continues as scheduled, but any major papal decisions will have to wait until the pontiff has recovered.

Pope Leo assumed the role of the head of the Catholic Church after the death of Pope Francis in May 2025.

Did Peacock just find its next The Traitors?

Peacock is doubling down on ruthless social strategy with Assassins, a newly greenlit reality competition in which every player enters the game with someone to eliminate, while simultaneously being hunted by someone else.

The new series comes from B17 Entertainment, part of Sony Pictures Television, with Scarlett Johansson, Brien Meagher and Rhett Bachner serving as executive producers.

Peacock describes Assassins as a game of “cunning strategy and wit” inspired by the real-life game played around the world. But the premise adds an intriguing wrinkle to the social strategy genre that has exploded in popularity with shows like The Traitors.

From the moment the contestants arrive, every player is secretly assigned a target. Their mission is to eliminate that person before the season ends.

The catch? Every assassin is somebody else’s target.

That means no player is ever truly safe, and contestants will have to figure out when to make alliances, whom they can trust and whether the person helping them survive might also be plotting to take them out.

“With shifting alliances and deception, only the most calculating player will survive to win it all,” Peacock teased in announcing the series.

It’s easy to see why the concept could appeal to fans of The Traitors, which has turned deception, suspicion and strategic relationships into must-watch reality TV. But Assassins flips the formula by giving every contestant both offensive and defensive objectives. Instead of a small group of Traitors secretly targeting the Faithful, everyone has someone in their sights, and everyone has a reason to look over their shoulder.

The format is based on a game with numerous variations that has been played in schools, on college campuses and among groups around the world. Players are typically assigned another participant to “assassinate” using whatever harmless elimination method that particular game establishes. Once a player successfully eliminates a target, the game continues until only one participant remains.

Peacock hasn’t yet revealed exactly how eliminations will work on the television version, so we’ll have to wait to see how the familiar game translates into a full-fledged reality competition.

The streamer also hasn’t announced a host, cast, episode count, filming location or premiere date for Assassins.

But Peacock already knows there is an audience for reality TV that turns lying to your new best friends into a viable path to victory. Now Assassins is preparing to find out what happens when every single person in the game has a target on their back.

While previous attempts to turn the Street Fighter video game into movies have been flops, there is a lot of excitement around the 2026 attempt. With Warrior’s Andrew Koji and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’s Noah Centineo taking on the roles of Ryu and Ken, there is focus on creating an action-packed story.

Street Fighter will see Ryu and Ken join forces when Chun-Li (Callina Liang) calls on them to fight. Major names such as Jason Momoa and David Dastmalchian are part of the movie, which sees a World Warrior Tournament turn into a hidden conspiracy and fight for freedom and lives. Ken and Ryu will need to confront their past if they want to survive.

‘Street Fighter’ Streaming Window Explained

Unfortunately, Street Fighter won’t initially stream on Netflix. That doesn’t mean it will never head there, but the first streaming home is Paramount+. This is a Paramount Pictures movie, and all those movies head to Paramount’s own platform.

There is now a 45-day exclusivity window in theaters, but Paramount Pictures have taken around three months to go from theaters to home streaming. Scary Movie took 91 days, and Scream 7 took 90 days. With that in mind, we’re looking at Street Fighter to take around that same time, landing on Paramount+ around Jan. 14, 2027.

Movies tend to remain on Paramount+ for at least a year during the Pay-1 window. After that, the licensing can open, and it could be possible for Street Fighter to head to Netflix after that.

‘Street Fighter’ Box Office Predictions

So far, the box office predictions for the 2026 movie are strong, with Opening Weekend expected to bring in between $25 million and $40 million. The total domestic run is predicted to be between $50 million and $86 million, and much of that is thanks to the standout cast and chemistry.

Many critics are positive about the film, and when it comes to criticism, it’s mostly about the juvenile humor and some characters being underutilized. However, there are already talks about a sequel, which could fix that issue.

It is a PG-13 film, with the aim of pulling in younger audiences as well as those turning to it for nostalgic needs. Get ready to watch it on repeat at home come the new year.

Street Fighter will be out in theaters on Oct. 16, 2026.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis, 63, the only person ever charged with the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison on Tuesday, Oct. 13, ABC News reported.

Judge Carli Kierny sentenced Davis, saying that he would not “walk away” from taking a person’s life decades after Shakur’s death. “At this time, you are going to face justice for what you did,” Kierny added.

Davis’ sentence comes just over 30 years after Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip on Sept. 7, 1996. Considered one of the most infamous cold cases in American history, Shakur’s death sparked widespread speculation. and theories in the decades leading up to Davis’ conviction.

Davis, a former Southside Crips gang leader, was convicted in Sept. 2023 for first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon, in relation to Shakur’s death. However, in August 2026, the jury of 12 found Davis guilty not of pulling the trigger, but of orchestrating Shakur’s murder as the “shot caller.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Davis pleaded not guilty on the murder charge, and he maintained his innocence after his conviction.

Prosecutor Marc DiGiacomo told the jury that Davis bragged about “beating the feds” and that “Mr. Davis is trying to escape responsibility for a crime’ he admitted to multiple times, AP News reported.

“At the end of the day, hold him accountable,” DiaGiacomo said in his closing argument.

While in court, members of Shakur’s family gave emotional statements expressing their grief caused by the hip-hop icon’s death.

“I do believe that when you take a life like that, you deserve every minute, every minute of the maximum amount of punishment, time to sit down and contemplate what you’ve done to this world, not just to me,” Sekyiwa Shakur said.

There are some habits that it’s just not socially acceptable to ask your friends about, one being what their bowel movements are like. Asking your friend casually over coffee how often they poop might get a little awkward. But since no one’s talking about it, it can be tricky to know if your bathroom habits are normal. How are you supposed to know if you’re pooping as much as everyone else?

Especially if you struggle with constipation, which becomes more common with age, you may be wondering how long is too long to go without pooping. If a couple of days go by and you haven’t had a bowel movement, you may start to feel uncomfortable. It would be helpful to know how to safely move things along, and it’s also important to know when you should see a doctor because too much time has passed since you have had a bowel movement.

While it may be a little strange to talk to your friends about your bathroom habits, one space it’s completely safe to talk about is a gastroenterologist’s office. You should never feel embarrassed about talking about your bowel movements with a gastroenterologist; it’s literally their job. Here, three G.I. docs explain how often it’s considered normal to poop, how long is too long to go without pooping and when you should see a doctor.

How Often Should You Poop? 

Parade talked to three gastroenterologists, and all three say that there isn’t one specific set amount of time when it comes to poop frequency; it varies from person to person. “Normal bowel frequency spans a wide range, roughly three times a day to three times a week. In the largest US sample of adults reporting normal bowel habits, 95.9% had between 3 and 21 bowel movements per week, supporting the common ‘three and three rule,’ three a day to three a week,” says Dr. Zarema Singson, MD, a gastroenterologist and a member-at-large at GI Alliance.

There are several reasons why some people poop more frequently than others. Dr. Cuckoo Choudhary, MD, FACP, AGAF, a gastroenterologist with Jefferson Health, says diet (including fiber and hydration), physical activity, age, medications, hormones, stress, one’s gut microbiome and, importantly, how quickly an individual’s colon naturally moves stool, all impact bowel habits.

“Eating stimulates the colon through what we call the gastrocolic reflex, which is why many people need to have a bowel movement after breakfast or another large meal. Some people simply have a stronger gastrocolic response or faster intestinal transit than others,” Dr. Choudhary says. She adds that changes in routine can impact bowel habits too, including travel, changes in diet, reduced physical activity, illness and repeatedly ignoring the urge to poop.

Instead of focusing so much on bowel movement frequency, Dr. Michael Curley, MD, FRCPC, a gastroenterologist and the director of Dartmouth’s GI Motility Program, suggests thinking more about how you’re feeling. Are you bloated and uncomfortable? Are you experiencing abdominal pain? When you do have a bowel movement, do you have to strain or does it hurt? These questions, he says, are important clues about your gastrointestinal health to consider. 

How Long Is Too Long To Go Without Pooping?

Even though there is a range for what’s considered normal when it comes to bowel movement frequency, there is a point when it’s too long to go without pooping. According to Dr. Choudhary, going fewer than three times a week is one criterion doctors use when evaluating for constipation, especially if it’s accompanied by hard stools, straining, difficulty evacuating or a feeling of incomplete emptying.

Constipation isn’t just uncomfortable; it can impact your health.

“Constipation can lead to abdominal discomfort, bloating, excessive straining and hemorrhoids. In more significant cases, a large amount of hard stool can become lodged in the rectum or colon, resulting in fecal impaction,” Dr. Choudhary says.

She adds that the longer stool remains in the colon, the more water the colon absorbs from it. This, she notes, can make the stool progressively harder and more difficult to pass.

“Severe constipation can also cause nausea, loss of appetite and significant abdominal distention. Serious complications are uncommon in otherwise healthy people, but persistent or severe constipation should not simply be ignored,” Dr. Choudhary says.

How To Speed Things Along

If you want to poop more frequently than you are currently—perhaps it’s even what led you to this article—there are a few actions you can take. All three doctors say that an important one is upping your fiber intake. Dr. Singson recommends aiming for between 20 to 25 grams a day, and to increase the amount of water you drink too.

If you’re taking any prescriptions or supplements, Dr. Singson says it’s worth it to talk to your doctor about whether any of them could be making you feel constipated. The solution to being less constipated could be as simple as stopping a supplement or switching to a different medication.

In some cases, Dr. Curley says that taking a laxative or an over-the-counter fiber supplement may be used to treat constipation. For best practices, it’s best to talk to your doctor before treating constipation this way. 

“It’s also important not to repeatedly ignore the body’s urge to have a bowel movement,” Dr. Choudhary says. “Taking advantage of the gastrocolic reflex—particularly by allowing yourself unhurried bathroom time after breakfast—can be helpful.” In other words, if you feel like you have to poop, don’t fight the urge.

If your bathroom habits have drastically changed recently or you’re struggling with constipation frequently, these are both times when it’s important to see your doctor, the experts say. If you notice blood in your stool, seek emergency care. 

Remember, there’s a range of what’s considered normal when it comes to poop frequency. If it’s been more than three days since your last bowel movement, that’s a sign of constipation. But it’s also important to consider how you feel. If gastrointestinal issues of any type are interfering with your daily life, it’s worth seeing a gastroenterologist. Don’t let bathroom anxiety rule your life.

In 1969, Denise Nicholas began starring on the groundbreaking ABC series Room 222, playing guidance counselor Liz McIntyre at the fictional Walt Whitman High School in Los Angeles.

The series, which also starred Lloyd Haynes, Michael Constantine and Karen Valentine, was notable for its racially integrated cast and its willingness to tackle social issues at a time when American television was undergoing major changes.

But Nicholas says that while she was making the series, she once overheard a horrifying conversation just outside the soundstage.

Speaking with Steve Kmetko on the Still Here Hollywood podcast, Nicholas recalled being in a bathroom outside Stage 10 when she heard a group of Teamsters talking nearby.

“I was washing my hands, and I heard men talking outside the door, and they were Teamsters, and they were basically talking about killing Black people,” Nicholas recalled. “And I heard it, and I had to go back to work.”

Nicholas remembered returning to the studio looking visibly shaken after what she had heard.

“I guess I looked ashen, whatever color I would turn with all that makeup on,” she said. “But I said, ‘I heard the worst things.'”

According to Nicholas, the conversation was even more disturbing than a general discussion of violence.

“They were talking about throwing Black people out of the cars on the freeway,” she said. “They were all Teamsters.”

The incident was particularly jarring considering both the subject matter of Room 222 and Nicholas’ own history.

Before becoming a television star, Nicholas spent two years working with the Free Southern Theater during the Civil Rights Movement. She told Kmetko that she was “constantly” afraid for her life during that period and described the violence faced by Black Americans in the Deep South as relentless.

“I don’t think the masses of people in this country to this day know precisely how oppressive the Deep South was for Black people,” Nicholas said, explaining that portrayals of the era in movies and television sometimes soften what actually happened.

Nicholas experienced that danger firsthand. She recalled seeing police officers detaining photographers who had been documenting the Civil Rights Movement and destroying their cameras and film. When Nicholas tried to intervene, she said one officer put a gun to her head.

“He said, ‘If you take one more step, I’ll blow your brains out,'” Nicholas recalled. “So I didn’t move.” She described it as “probably the most horrifying experience” of her two years in the South.

Nicholas eventually made her way from the Free Southern Theater to New York’s Negro Ensemble Company before being cast in Room 222.

She told Kmetko that she viewed the ABC series as an outgrowth of the social changes brought about by the Civil Rights Movement and efforts to integrate America’s public schools.

“I believed that that show would not have been on the air had it not been for the Civil Rights Movement,” she said.

Despite the disturbing incident outside the soundstage, Nicholas remembers her actual Room 222 cast fondly.

“We genuinely liked each other,” she said, recalling spending time with Valentine, Constantine and her other co-stars away from the set.

Room 222 ran for five seasons from 1969 to 1974. Nicholas earned three Golden Globe nominations for her performance as Liz McIntyre before going on to star in projects including In the Heat of the Night.

Teddy Riley, known affectionately as the “King of New Jack Swing” for pioneering the popular ’80s/’90s fusion genre combining hip-hop, contemporary R&B, dance-pop, and funk, just celebrated his milestone 60th birthday with a special one-night-only event that fans are calling “incomparable.”

Over the weekend, the musician put on a lively concert at The Theater at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., alongside his band, Guy 2.0, and special guests Blacc Print. In honor of his personal new year, the show was coined the New Jack Swing Birthday Bash, and it delivered a musical experience celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Teddy Riley Experience that transported concert attendees back a few decades to a simpler time.

The Sunday, Oct. 11 show saw a wide range of attendees—as evidenced by the level of applause from those born from the 1960s through the ’90s during the decades roll call—proving the timelessness and generational transcendence of good music.

Riley took the stage with enthusiasm, performing hits like Guy’s “Groove Me” and “Teddy’s Jam,” in addition to delighting the crowd with Blackstreet hits “Joy,” “Before I Let Go,” and “No Diggity.”

Giving his fans even more of what they wanted, songs he wrote or produced but isn’t necessarily famous for singing were also on the lineup. Keith Sweat‘s “I Want Her,” Michael Jackson‘s “Remember the Time,” “The Show” by Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew, Bobby Brown‘s “My Prerogative,” “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D & The Boyz, and Hi-Five‘s “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)” all received major participation from the crowd.

Riley was even surprised with a birthday cake on stage in a heartfelt moment during the event.

Fans filled the comments section of a social media video from the concert, raving over the newly minted 60-year-old’s stunning vocals and showmanship.

“Amazing concert! I was front and center singing all the songs,” one wrote, as another called the show “incomparable” and a third chimed in, “Wow. Sounds great. TR brings them vocalists! ❤️ 🎶”

Though the event was a one-night-only affair, the musician promised he has more up his sleeve, urging fans to stay tuned for what’s to come. “I love yall and looking forward to bring the Teddy Riley Xperience to your town soon!! Keep in touch, Lots of surprises is coming your way!!!” he exclaimed in the caption of an Instagram post after the show, where he thanked fans for all the love, support, and birthday wishes.

Lucian Piane, a former musician and guest judge for RuPaul’s Drag Race has died at age 46.

He passed away on Monday, Oct. 12, according to records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, per TMZ. Officials have ruled the incident an accident.

The outlet wrote that he died from blunt trauma, with his place of death listed as a street. The case is still open, but his body is now “ready for release.”

Piane was hit by a car in the Los Angeles area. First responders tried to save him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The outlet added that he didn’t have any identification on him but was later identified. He did have a citation with him.

Piane had two run-ins with Glendale police the weekend before he died. On Saturday, he was cited for allegedly being under the influence of a controlled substance, and on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a police officer or emergency worker. He received a citation for both incidents and was released both times. He had a court date on Monday, the same day he died.

He was known for his time on Drag Race, even appearing on season 1 in 2009. His last time on the reality series was during season 8 in 2016. He publicly struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues, often seen on his social media accounts.

The production company World of Wonder wrote a statement mourning his death, “We are devastated to learn of the passing of Lucian Piane. Lucian left behind a legacy of truly beautiful music. May his struggles never dim the memories of a sweet man, a dear friend, and a master musician.”

During a 2024 interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Redmayne shared that he and his father, Richard Redmayne, were fans of the 1973 film.

“So I grew up watching the original movie with Edward Fox, who is sort of ingenious. There was something just so elegant and old school and kind of analog about it, and yet it was the genre that I was completely into,” said the 44-year-old Oscar-winner during the 2024 interview.

Recipes for the two-ingredient snack were circulating well before Brach’s packaged its own version in 2013, and the concept remains popular today.

In fact, even Planters has a recipe for Halloween Peanuts and Candy Corn on its website. The instructions couldn’t be simpler: Combine a 16-ounce jar of dry-roasted peanuts with two cups of candy corn in a serving bowl. That’s it. No baking, no fancy equipment and barely enough prep work to call it a recipe.

Brach’s eventually took the guesswork out of the combination with its Corn ‘N Nut Mix, which paired the brand’s signature candy corn with roasted peanuts in one convenient package. The product was documented in seasonal candy coverage in 2013, although the homemade combination had already been around for years.

The company also offered a Mini Candy Corn & Chocolate Peanuts Mix, featuring miniature candy corn and milk-chocolate-covered, sea-salted peanuts. It was a slightly more indulgent take on the familiar fall favorite, and one that developed its own devoted following.

Here’s the not-so-sweet news: Brach’s beloved candy corn and peanut mixes appear to have disappeared from store shelves, and there’s no indication they’re returning anytime soon.

Although Kroger and Instacart still have product pages for the chocolate-covered peanut version, Kroger lists it as unavailable for pickup or delivery. Neither that version nor the original Corn ‘N Nut Mix appears in Brach’s current Halloween lineup either.

Brach’s hasn’t publicly confirmed a discontinuation date or explanation that we could locate, but fans have certainly noticed the disappearance.

In an August 2024 Reddit discussion, one candy lover shared a photo of the chocolate-covered peanut mix and asked whether Brach’s still made it. Other commenters chimed in with their own memories and frustrations over not being able to find the seasonal treat.

Fortunately, the combination itself hasn’t disappeared.

One final note: Brach’s still sells its popular Mellowcreme Autumn Mix, but despite the name, it’s not the same thing. That bag contains assorted mellowcreme candies, not peanuts.

So, while Brach’s may have left the candy-corn-and-peanuts party, apparently nobody told Target. And for those who prefer the homemade version, all it takes is two bags, one bowl and a little self-control.

Tony Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris just celebrated a major milestone, but this one had nothing to do with his decades-long career. The How I Met Your Mother star took to Instagram yesterday to give a loving shout-out to his two children, twins Harper Grace Burtka-Harris and Gideon Scott Burtka-Harris, who have just turned 16 years old.

Harris shares Harper and Gideon with his husband, David Burtka. Harris and Burtka had the twins via surrogate in 2010, four years before the couple tied the knot. Now, Harris is looking back on the last 16 years, and it’s clear that he is a very proud dad. In addition to sharing an image of the twins showing them now in a side-by-side photo with pictures of when they were infants, Harris wrote in the caption, “Harper and Gideon turned 16 today…It’s amazing to see how they’ve grown, and I couldn’t be prouder of the people they’ve become.”

The star also joked, “Mostly, though, I’m so grateful that they can drive me around everywhere now,” and he gave a shout-out to Burtka as well, “for being a remarkable dad.”

Despite his 16 years as a dad so far, though, Harris hasn’t slowed down career-wise. In fact, Harris is currently gearing up for his upcoming return to Broadway in Damn Yankees, which will run with preview shows beginning on March 24, 2027, and then officially begin on April 20, 2027.

While many families are still preparing for Halloween, Joanna Gaines is already in the holiday spirit. The TV star and home decor expert is head over heels for her 2026 Christmas line, found on her Magnolia website and at her stores in Waco, Texas.

“We may have over Christmas-ed Christmas,” she laughed in a social media video posted on Monday, October 12. “No, that’s impossible. You can never over-Christmas Christmas!”

Absolutely giddy about setting up the holiday displays with her team at the Magnolia Market at the Silos, a tourist destination that attracts 1.5 million visitors each year, Gaines revealed in her video that this year’s line was inspired by the theme she used at home in 2025, centered on old-fashioned Christmas candies.

“I did this whole candy theme where I had all my vintage candy jars and this vintage-inspired candy,” she explained, holding a giant replica of a festively-wrapped hard candy. “And I was like, ‘Let’s do that in the shop this year!’ So here we are, installing Christmas at the market here in Waco, and I am in heaven.”

“I love nostalgia, I love candy,” Gaines gushed as she pushed a cart full of candy up to the door of her holiday shop. “We have all these fun visual displays you’ll see hanging from the ceiling that the team made. They’re adorable.”

The team distilled Gaines’ love of Christmas candies down to a single ornament she showed to the camera once inside her shop. Dangling the miniature glass candy jar that holds red, white and green replicas of candied ribbons, Gaines wistfully said, “This is what inspired all of this: my favorite ornament. Ugh, are you serious? I’ll take 20 of these! You guys, I am so happy.”

Fans swooned over the ornament and other festive decor in the comment section of her post, including one who wrote, “Ribbon Candy is my favorite, whether it’s in a decorative glass jar on my kitchen counter during the Christmas holiday or it’s in the form of an ornament on my Christmas tree; nostalgic.”

“I’m telling you, you guys, this Christmas is gonna be the most magical it’s ever been,” Gaines told her followers. She also recently unveiled her 2026 holiday line at Target that features vintage-inspired keepsakes, too.
