Dog Finds a Tiny Stray Kitten and Immediately Starts Caring for Her

Fri, 05/08/2026 - 8:55am

At first, it just looks like a sweet dog being curious… and then you realize she’s not just interested—she’s taken responsibility.

Because this isn’t a quick sniff-and-walk-away situation. This is a full “this is mine now” decision, and Luna has already committed.

Shared by TikTok user @neg0278, the clip is of Luna, a dog who found a tiny stray Tabby kitten, brought her inside, kept her safe from the other dog, and has been caring for her like she’s her own. The kitten is being bottle-fed by her human mom, but Luna is right there—hovering, protecting, and even attempting to nurse.

And yes, that part is real.

A Vet Tech Chimed in To Explain:

• Dogs can sometimes produce milk without ever giving birth.
• This is something that does happen in practice.
• As long as the kitten is being properly fed and gaining weight, it can be safe.
• Having a warm “fur mama” can be incredibly comforting for a young kitten.

So while it looks surprising… It’s not unheard of.

@neg0278

Day 4 update I think I woke her up to early LOL!!! #foryoupage #catsoftiktok #cutenessoverload #tiredmom

And Luna is fully committed to the role.

Viewers Were All In:

• “Actually, I was in the delivery room when [she] was born, that's 100% her baby.”
• “What do you mean she thinks it’s her baby? That IS her baby.”
• “Finders, keepers.”
• “That’s her daughter. No one can tell her differently.”
• “The cat distribution system doesn’t only apply to humans.”
• “Sometimes the true mother isn’t the one who carried her, but the one who loved her.”

And honestly… that last one lands.

Because this doesn’t feel like confusion. It feels like instinct.

My dog Kingston would absolutely try to insert himself into this situation, but mostly for attention. Luna is doing actual emotional labor here.

What To Do If You Find a Stray Kitten @neg0278

Replying to @Elizabethalonso566 Day 3 update still loving on her baby

Moments like this are sweet, but there are a few important things to keep in mind.

• Check if the kitten is truly abandoned—mom cats sometimes leave temporarily.
• Keep the kitten warm and safe, especially if the kitty is very young.
Contact a local rescue or veterinarian for guidance.
• Bottle-feeding may be necessary if the kitten is too young.
• Introduce other pets slowly and supervise them closely.
• Monitor weight and health to ensure the kitten is thriving.

Even when animals step in like Luna did, human support still matters.

But having a protective, gentle dog in the mix?

That doesn’t hurt.

Indian Ringneck Parrot Asks Baby Brother for Kisses—and It's Too Sweet To Miss

Fri, 05/08/2026 - 8:20am

I've always been a supporter of getting your pet a pet so they have someone to hang out with, play with, and love when we're not around. Some fur companions would make the best little buddy to any newcomers. You can tell by how affectionate and sweet they are that they might benefit from a sibling.

That's exactly what Boo got, and as an Indian Ringneck Parrot with a heart of gold, he wasted no time showering his new baby brother, Bowser, with all the compliments, kisses, and excited banter.

Parrots like Boo make the world a happier place, and this video is the perfect example of why. Bowser, an Eclectus Parrot, may have been scared to join a new family, but Boo made sure to roll out the red carpet! He's taking his big brother duties seriously, and it shows!

Boo's mom did a good thing by giving him a playmate to dote on because this is one darling bird with lots of affection to pass around. When I say he's sweet, that's an understatement. This cute Parrot so ridiculously adorable, he even chatters while he's sleeping.

@danielleshorr

Boo actually said his first words while asleep! Peekaboo 🦜 #parrotsoftiktok

♬ original sound - Danielle Why Parrots Mimic Human Behaviors

Parrots may not fully understand the context of our language, but they're smart enough to learn meaning through association. Mimicking is one way they bond with and become part of their flock, and that includes their humans! In the wild, they'll use a variety of vocalizations to form connections and socialize, and domesticated Parrots do the same through mimicking their humans for the same reasons.

As some of the smartest birds around, repeating words, phrases, and sounds is a great way to get attention or engage in interaction. Parrots adapt through mimicry for a few reasons, but mainly because these little rascals are vocal learners who think it's fun! It can also help with learning routines and adapting to a new environment, but communicating this way is another reason these special birds are so impressive.

Boo clearly learned these sweet words from listening to his humans, and now he gets to use them in his new, adorable role as big brother. There's nothing more precious than that!

Rare ‘Orange Creamsicle’ Ragdoll Looks Like He’s Made of Sweet Dreams

Fri, 05/08/2026 - 8:00am

When you think of a Ragdoll cat, you're probably thinking of a creamy white and brown cat, typically with stunning blue eyes. Those cats are definitely the ones to beat: they're so pretty!

Recently, though, another Ragdoll came in and is giving the originals a run for their money. He's fluffy and wide-eyed, just like a regular Ragdoll, but... He's orange! You rarely see this kind of coat color on these cats, which makes him so stunning:

@littleyoshiii

♬ Postcards from Provence - James Quinn

Yoshi the Ragdoll is orange all the way, which is just incredible. Even his eyes are orange! Just by looking at the structure of his coat, it's clear that Yoshi is a Mink Ragdoll, which would explain his unique coloring.

Yoshi is a little less than a year old, but he's already a big boy! He looks full-grown, and he will be within the next couple of months. He's still fluffy like a Ragdoll, though his fur has a little less length to it.

Related: Rare Brown Ragdoll Kitten Looks Like a Half-Baked Brownie

In keeping with his orange color, Yoshi is male (which is true for about 80% of orange cats), and he's a little crazy. He's been that way ever since he was a baby! The second he got to his forever home, he started screaming:

@littleyoshiii

He loves his mealtimes, which is also very typical of orange cats. I wonder how he would feel if somebody tried to serve him lasagna...

How Are Mink Ragdolls Different From traditional Ragdolls?

Mink Ragdolls behave very similarly to standard Ragdolls, and not everyone can tell them apart at first glance. However, once you know the difference, they're really easy to spot.

Orange-nosed Ragdoll kitten.

Mink Ragdolls are often:

  • Less fluffy than Ragdoll cats/their fur is shorter.
  • Different (solid) colors, like orange, brown, or lilac.
  • Not blue-eyed: their eyes can be green, amber, gold, or any other color.

These cats have been the cause of some debate in the cat community, since standard Ragdolls all have a few iconic looks and features about them. No matter what, though, they're so beautiful!

This Miniature Dachshund 'Turns Into a Cow' the Second He Hears the 'Happy Birthday' Song

Fri, 05/08/2026 - 7:15am

Dogs have big personalities and all kinds of strange quirks. Some dogs howl at sirens and others bark at the doorbell. Apple the miniature Dachshund, she transforms into a full-blown cow the instant anyone starts singing "Happy Birthday."

Not a demure cow. Not a gentle cow. A cow who has opinions and wants to be heard.

His mouth opens. And what emerges is not a bark, not a howl, but a MOO so powerful it could register on the Richter scale.

@appletheminidapple

Sausage dog or cow? You decide! #sausagedog #sausagedogsoftiktok #dachshund #dachshundlove #dachshundaddict

♬ original sound - Appletheminidapple

"MOOOOOOO."

The text overlay explains the situation: "POV: You accidentally trained your dog to make cow noises whenever anyone sings 'Happy Birthday!'"

Accidentally. Which means this wasn't planned at all. Apple's humans didn't sit down and think "let's teach our Dachshund to moo like a cow." It just happened… organically. And now they're living with the consequences every single birthday.

The caption asks: "Sausage dog or cow? You decide!"

The comments had thoughts—mostly about cows and sausage:

"He was a cow in his past life and a dinosaur in the one before that 😭😂"

"That's a powerful MOO."

"He got that cow in him."

Related: Dachshund Mix Is So Excited for Walks, He Jumps Just Like a Kangaroo

"I did not expect that level of moo! Amazing!"

"Wdym? That is a baby cow."

"Beef sausage."

"It's a sausage cow 😂"

"Could we get a step-by-step tutorial, please?"

That "beef sausage" comment is criminally and hilariously underrated. Also, whoever asked for a tutorial? Solid question that we all want to know the answer to. Because how exactly does one accidentally train a Dachshund to channel his inner Holstein?

For all intents and purposes, the running theory in the comments suggests reincarnation from the once great state of cow. Apple was definitely a cow in a past life, possibly a T-Rex before that. Now, he's living his best life as a tiny sausage-shaped dog, but every time "Happy Birthday" plays, his inner cow soul is awakened.

Why Dogs Try to Join the Family Conversation

Here's what's actually happening when Apple unleashes his inner bovine: he's just trying to be in the thick of it—part of this special family moment.

According to research by animal behaviorist Patricia McConnell, dogs see their humans as family members in a very real, attachment-based way. Studies show dogs display "secure base behavior"—meaning they're more comfortable exploring and interacting with their environment when their humans are present to supervise. That’s safety and security.

But this behavior goes much deeper than just feeling safe. Dogs actively want to participate in family activities. When everyone gathers together, having a good time and starts singing—which is a communal, emotional event—dogs often feel the need to join in the family fun.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Think about it like this: "Happy Birthday" is when the whole pack comes together, makes noise as a group, and celebrates the milestone. Dogs are pack animals. Group vocalizations are a big part of how dogs bond and communicate. So, when Apple hears everyone singing, his instinct says "I should be a part of this too!"

The fact that he chose to MOO instead of howl? That’s the head scratcher. That's the ‘accidental training’ part. Somewhere along the way, Apple tried to sing along and made that mooing noise during a birthday celebration.

Maybe people laughed and thought it was cute. Maybe that immediately got him the attention he wanted. Perhaps someone even said, "Good boy!" And now Apple's brain has permanently linked "Happy Birthday" with "time to sound like a cow."

Dogs are social creatures who genuinely see themselves as part of the family and consider you part of their pack. They don't want to sit on the sidelines during important family events. They want to celebrate too.

Apple's not being a weirdo—he's being part of the family. In his own, extremely bovine way.

So yes, Apple is technically a sausage dog. But in his heart? He's definitely a grade-A sausage cow. And every single birthday celebration is his chance to prove it.

Pit Bull Sisters Try Using New Doggy Door and It's Not Going Smoothly

Fri, 05/08/2026 - 7:10am

Doggy doors provide easy access to the outdoors for canines and convenience for their parents, who get relieved of door duty. While these floor-level flaps give some fun-loving fur babies a taste of freedom, other pooches find the contraption a bit challenging to navigate.

Cocoa, Bean, and Toast are three Pit Bull sisters who recently received a doggy door so they could go in and out as they pleased, yet figuring out how to actually use it wasn't easy.

View this post on Instagram

In the Instagram video from @thechonkettes, the pretty Pitties waited patiently in the living room until they were allowed to try out the new doggy door. Cocoa and Toast gave it a shot, but didn't know where to place their paws when going from indoors to outdoors. The look of confusion on the canines' faces communicated they were a little lost.

Bean came over to check things out and lend a paw, but she had no idea how to help and just sniffed the area for more information.

At one point, the female fur babies just went back to lying on the floor in surrender, feeling discouraged about the failed attempts. The frustration was palpable.

"I was so excited for the girls to use our new dog door — they do not share my enthusiasm," the caption noted, along with several modifications that were implemented to assist the precious pooches with the transition. "We taped up the flaps. We removed the flaps. I crawled through on my elbows. I tried to lure them out with pizza."

Despite the strong effort, the three sisters still couldn't cross over into the outdoors. "At this point, I think they'd rather pee inside," the story concluded. "We'll try again later."

Tips to Help Your Dog Use a Doggy Door

There are some practical ways to acclimate your dog to this new way of entering and exiting your home. Tips include:

  • Familiarize your dog with the door by letting them smell it, opening and closing the flap in front of them, and putting your hand through it so they see it's not dangerous.
  • Coax your dog through the door by staying on the other side and cheering them on.
  • Use positive reinforcement with lots of treats and praise.
  • Practice several times a day and make the door a part of your daily routine.

The more your dog is exposed to the doggy door and its function, the less intimidated they'll be. Lots of practice, patience, and praise go a long way to help your fur baby figure it out. These Pittie sisters just need a little time before they'll be cruising through the door on their own.

7 Signs You’re Your Dog’s Favorite Human

Fri, 05/08/2026 - 5:10am

If you’ve ever wondered whether your dog has a clear “favorite human” in your house, you’re not alone. Many pet owners notice subtle changes in dog behavior—some almost impossible to explain—when it comes to how their dog interacts with different people. Pet experts say canines often form strong attachments to those they love and those preferences can show up in everyday habits, routines and reactions. But how can you really tell where you stand? To find out, we gathered 7 signs you're your dog's number one human, according to a trainer.

From the way your dog follows you from room to room to how they respond when you walk through the door, there are small but meaningful clues that may reveal a deeper bond. Understanding the signs your dog prefers you or how dogs choose their favorite person can offer surprising insight into your relationship—and what your dog might be trying to communicate without words.

So, why do dogs pick a favorite human? "To your dog, you’ve become both their safe place and a source of joy," says Alexandra Bassett, the founder and head trainer at Dog Savvy Positive Dog Training. "Through consistent routines, positive experiences and shared moments, you’ve become a steady source of comfort, predictability and joy. In your dog’s world, that’s everything."

Read on to find out signs your dog loves you the most and how to tell if your dog has a favorite human or not!

If you've ever wondered, "Why does my dog prefer one person over others?" you're not the only dog mom or dad that's had that question cross their mind. Bassett explains that the most special part of being a dog's favorite person and having that special bond is that your dog didn't choose you as their go-to person out of obligation, politeness or social pressure. "If you're your dog's favorite person, that preferences was earned," Bassett says.

Bassett notes that meeting your dog's basic needs for food, water, exercise and shelter lays the foundation. "Becoming a dog's favorite person goes a step further. It’s built through training, play, and enrichment, which provide a dog with much-needed mental stimulation, life skills and joy," she shares.

Therefore, if you do all of the above, you may start to notice many signs that you're your dog's go-to human.

7 Signs You’re Your Dog’s Favorite Human

Dogs don’t always show affection in obvious ways, but trainers say there are clear signs your dog likes you over others in your household. From subtle changes in behavior to everyday routines, these patterns can reveal how dogs choose their favorite human and form strong emotional attachments.

1. They choose to sleep with you

One of the clearest signs your dog prefers you over others is where they choose to sleep. Some people assume their dog sleeping near or on them is just about warmth or routine, but trainers say it goes far beyond that. As Bassett explains, this behavior is “deeper than people think” and often points to strong dog bonding behavior and emotional attachment.

“Sleep is when dogs are most vulnerable,” Bassett says. “Choosing to sleep near—or on—you signals trust in your presence, comfort with your proximity, and a sense of physical and emotional safety.”

2. They choose to cuddle with you

Another one of the signs your dog loves you most that you can look out for is cuddling behavior. Pet owners often assume dogs are cuddly creatures, but Bassett says that's untrue. "Not all dogs are naturally cuddly, so when they seek it out, that matters," Bassett says. "Voluntary affection—especially when they’re not cold, not tired and not prompted—means your dog associates you with comfort, relaxation, safety, positive touch and affection."

Therefore, they make an active choice to cuddle with you rather than tolerate affection. When your dog does this, they’re signaling they feel connected to you and that you are their whole world.

3. They “check in” with you

One strong sign your dog prefers you over others is when they regularly “check in” with you during everyday activities. Bassett says this one is more than a telltale sign you're your dog's number one human. "It's one of the clearest signs of behavioral attachment," she says. "When your dog looks back at you during walks, circles back while playing, pauses mid-exploration to orient to you, they’re essentially saying, 'You’re still my reference point.'"

Bassett says these check-ins come from a history of strong engagement, secure attachment and positive reinforcement. "In training terms, you’re not just present—you’re relevant, even when the environment is exciting because you are your dog’s home base," Bassett says.

Related: Experts Name the No. 1 Companion Dog: A ‘Highly Intuitive, Sensitive Breed’

4. They initiate play with you

One of the more overlooked signs your dog is obsessed with you is when they consistently initiate play with you. "Many dogs are selective about who they invite into it," Bassett reports. "When your dog brings you toys, offers you a play bow and wants to chase or be chased by you, they’re expressing trust because play requires vulnerability and cooperation."

Because of this, this is an easy way to see if your dog shows favoritism to one person over another.

Additionally, when your dog does this, they are letting you know they associate you with something positive and fun. "It also means they see you as an active participant, not just background noise in their environment," Bassett notes.

5. They wait by the door/window

When it comes to dog bonding signs and dog emotional attachment signs, seeing them waiting for you by the window is one.

In fact, if your dog perks up at specific sounds, like your footsteps, or strategically places themselves by the door or window, Bassett says this behavior isn't just a routine. "It's emotional attachment," she says. "They’re not just noticing patterns they’re looking forward to your return. That is true devotion in action."

6. They lick your face (without a food context)

Does your dog have a favorite person? They might! This sign is one trainers say show you're your dog's number one person. Though, sometimes it is often misunderstood and written off as them thinking they are "licking food off your face."

"Affiliative licking is a natural social bonding behavior," Bassett reveals. "When it’s not about leftover food, it signals social connection, deference and emotional closeness."

Bassett says this behavior starts in puppyhood. "Dogs would lick caregivers to greet them and elicit attention, which is why it often shows up most strongly toward their primary person," Bassett says. "Face-licking is your dog’s way of saying, 'I love you,' and checking in on your mood. It’s like a furry little hug and mood boost rolled into one."

7. Their reunion behavior is intense and investigative

The way your dog greets you after time apart can reveal a lot about your bond. If you’ve ever wondered about how dogs choose their favorite human, this moment of reunion is one of the most telling.

It’s not just excitement—you may notice a focused, almost investigative energy as your dog greets you. They’re not only happy you’re back, but actively trying to take you in. “They’re thrilled to see you and want to gather information about you,” Bassett explains. “Yes, the excitement matters, but so does the sniffing. Dogs experience the world through scent, so this combo of excitement and investigation is a strong indicator that you are highly significant in their world.”

Chunky Gray Cat Makes for the Cutest Micromanager to His Work-From-Home Mom

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 8:20pm

Anyone who works from home with a pet will relate to this.

In this funny cat video, you will roll on the floor laughing when you see this cat micromanaging his work-from-home mom.

No one likes a boss who hovers, but at least this one is super cute in this very relatable pet moment!

This cute cat really looks like he's making sure she types everything correctly!

At least this chunky gray British Shorthair cat, named Clyde, is super cute.

Why Cats Love Interrupting Their Humans

Cats feel very territorial toward their humans, which is why they want to be close to them.

Maybe rubbing their head up against your shoulder or plopping themselves right on your keyboard.

They also know that humans will (hopefully) welcome this behavior, unlike maybe another kitty in the house.

Another reason is that humans are warm creatures, especially in their laps.

Related: Darling British Shorthair Kitten Is an iPad Kid and It’s So Real

That's just such a cozy seat for a kitty!

We can also see in this video that his mom's lap offers him the perfect view of her bright computer screen, which probably has some interesting things for him to look at.

Humans also offer protection to cats.

Cats, especially when they're sleeping, may feel quite vulnerable, but if they're close to you, they can relax a bit.

You may also be encouraging your kitty to act this way by constantly giving them affection, promoting a cycle of codependency.

Hence, Clyde the chunky cat, is rewarded when he acts as his mom's adorable micromanager with affection and pets.

Tabby Cat's Clever Plan To Keep Mom Home From Work Is Total Boss Material

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 7:20pm

As a pet parent to three cats and two dogs, I've learned over the years that there's a distinct difference between the way each of them communicates what they need or want. While my senior rescue dog leans on screaming at me until he gets his way, my other pup, a bossy Corgi, leans hard on glaring until I figure out what she's after (good luck to me!).

My cats, however, are a lot more diabolical and strategic—just like one of the internet's most intelligent Tabby cats, Milo the Chonk. The smart boy is known for running the house to better suit him, and now, he's mastered a plan to make Mom late for work. Watch this genius in action, and please explain to me how he's actually a human parading around in a cat suit!

I've covered Milo a lot over the last two years, and it's because of posts like this. His IQ has to be off the charts based on his methods alone. Making Mom 10 minutes late for work is but one tiny cog in the machine that Milo runs in *his* house, so if you're not familiar with his handy work, I implore you to do a deep dive into this boss!

This is one Tabby cat who seems to outdo himself with every new post. His latest shenanigans show how he trained Mom to carry him upstairs to bed. But he's only happy if he's carried inside his cat bed, and if she does it wrong, he makes her do it again.

@mrmilothechonk

I wouldn’t be surprised if his next demand would be for the bed to be heated before he’s carried up😂 #cats #catsoftiktok #foryou #foryoupage #viral

Pit Bull With Long Flowing Hair Looks Like a 1980s Rock Star and People Are Doing Double Takes

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 6:55pm

At first glance, you think you’re looking at a normal Pit Bull… and then the hair registers. You maybe start hearing Van Halen in your brain.

Because this dog has a totally epic do. Not just a little extra fluff. Full, wavy, flowing, “this dog has better hair than most people” levels of hair.

@kingtheo_princessrosie

He’s built different and he knows it!

♬ original sound - Jellyfish Jams Daily

TikTok user @kingtheo_princessrosie shared a clip of King Theo, a Pit Bull with a rare genetic mutation that gives him long, soft, almost glam rock-level hair—and yes, he absolutely knows it. The caption says, “He’s built different and knows it,” which feels less like a joke and more like a statement of fact.

Because Theo isn’t just fluffy. He’s giving full 1980s energy.

Related: Super-Fluffy Doodle Puppy With Wild Hair Walks in and Starts Grumble Talking

The slow walk. The volume. The presence.

Viewers Immediately Saw It:

• “My regular Pitty is jealous of your lion.”
• “Such a handsome boy, but I still see Fabio.”
• “I just KNOW he wakes up feeling Bonita.”
• “I did not know Pitties came in FLOOF!!!! He’s so cute!!!”
• “I love that it looks like he’s wearing a costume.”
• “Business in the front and party the rest of the way.”
• “He looks like a member of a glam rock band.”
• “He looks like a REAL ROCKSTAR.”
• “He wakes up every day thinking, ‘Ahh, another day of being glorious.’”

And that last one really sums it up.

Because this isn't subtle confidence. This is a dog who looks like he has a fan blowing his hair at all times.

Why This Pit Bull Looks So Different

This isn’t typical for the breed—and that’s what makes Theo stand out so much.

• A rare genetic mutation can affect coat length and texture.
• Most Pit Bulls have short, smooth coats.
Longer hair creates a completely different visual silhouette.
• It can make familiar breeds look almost unrecognizable.
• Unique traits like this often draw attention because they break expectations.

Basically, your brain expects one thing… and then Theo shows up looking like he just left a recording studio.

Pit Bull Mix Tries Creative Pup Cup Alternative—and It’s Even Better in Slow Motion

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 6:10pm

Canines clamor when they hear those two magical words: Pup Cup. That tiny container of whipped cream is enough to make any fur baby's day and is often saved for a special occasion. Dogs especially love joining their parents at a coffee shop or café to get their own cup full of something yummy.

Shmoo the Pit Bull was served a different spin on a Pup Cup while at home, but enjoyed it just as much as if it were from any Starbucks or Dunkin'.

In the TikTok from @shmoothemagicaldog, the pretty Pittie stared up at her mom waiting for the special treat coming her way. All of a sudden, a whipped cream can appeared and began spraying out that dairy deliciousness right into Shmoo's mouth.

"Sometimes instead of Pup Cups, we do Shmoo laces," the onscreen text explained as the video went into slow-motion to fully capture the creative flair used while spraying the whipped cream, along with the look of pure joy on the fur baby's face.

Shmoo opened her mouth as wide as she could with every drop of whipped cream that left the can. She kept her eyes wide open so she wouldn't miss a single dollop, and paid no attention to the mess it all made on her face.

"When the sugar hits and her eyes glaze over," the caption added.

When Did Pup Cups Start?

The beloved sweet treat for dogs began in the early 2000s when coffee shops and cafés noticed the demand for pet-friendly options that canines could enjoy with their parents.

Starbucks played a key role in launching the Pup Cup through a "secret menu" that offered a "puppuccino". The small cup of whipped cream was available upon request at most locations, and word quickly spread to dogs and dog lovers. More food and beverage establishments caught on and began offering the pooch-friendly item on their menus.

While Shmoo didn't have an official Pup Cup, she definitely enjoyed her special treat regardless of how it was delivered.

If you raise a dog with cats, and vice versa, you have to be careful. A lot of the time, they'll end up at least tolerating each other, but sometimes... It's much, much more than that. They can become the very best of friends!

One Golden Retriever has grown up around Ragdoll cats, and every single kitten who goes through her house grows up knowing her. They know her well enough to use her as a big, fluffy, Golden pillow:

@pearlsragdolls

Lucy can't move now that a kitten is napping with her

♬ original sound - Pearl’s Ragdolls

Pearl's Ragdolls have been nap-trapping Lucy the Golden Retriever ever since the day the first kitten made it to her house. These days, Lucy is in her late teens, but that's not going to stop her from loving her kittens. The cats in the home love her so much that they literally bring their babies right to her.

Once a kitten sets their paws on Grandma Lucy, she's not moving until they do! She's raised hundreds of babies by now: she knows that they need to nap. It's a nice break for their moms, which she's happy to provide. What better way to spend your golden years than snuggling kittens?

Lucy doesn't play favorites, though. It's not just the babies she likes to snuggle! She'll always welcome the older cats, too, even if they love to use her as free babysitting. She loves to make everyone feel special:

@pearlsragdolls

Josie grew up with Lucy so that's why she trusts her so much

♬ original sound - Pearl’s Ragdolls

The caption confirms what we already knew: the Ragdoll cats who grew up with Lucy trust her completely. Most mama cats wouldn't dare bring their young kittens around a dog, but Josie isn't just doing that. She's also making sure to give Lucy kisses!

Ragdoll Cats Are Typically Good With Dogs

One of the reasons Ragdoll cats are so beloved by everyone is that they're very agreeable. While they're sassy and outgoing, they're not typically super picky, and they can thrive in a lot of different situations.

Ragdoll cats aren't usually super timid, though it will depend on the individual cat. They can get along great with dogs, as long as you keep a few things in mind:

  • Starting socialization young will help the most.
  • They each need their own space to go and get away when needed.
  • You should always make sure they're separated to eat and that they each get one-on-one time with you, as well.

Luckily, Pearl gives her Ragdolls and her bestie, Lucy, everything they could need and more. These cats definitely won't have a problem with dogs in their forever home, especially if they're old and sweet!

These Adorable Pit Bulls Are Having a Banquet for Breakfast—and People are Obsessed

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 4:55pm

Content creator @reignstormpit uploads videos of her beautiful pit bulls, Reign and Snoh, to her social media accounts. The videos showcase their amazing lifestyle, and even their delicious, elaborate meals. In one of her most recent videos, Reign and Snoh's mother prepared a breakfast banquet.

The meal included many delicious dishes, including a grilled steak seasoned with special, dog-appropriate seasoning. I'm sure the puppies were already incredibly happy with this special snack, but their mother went above and beyond, preparing pancakes for her adorable pets. The ingredients of the pancakes include oat flour, half a banana, a tablespoon of peanut butter, an egg, and a bit of water.

The pancakes were beautiful and fluffy, and seemed like the diner pancakes you get on a sunny Sunday that taste delicious. If we could smell them through the screen, we'd all be salivating right now, which is what I'm sure the dogs were experiencing.

And if you thought that was the end of the meal, you thought wrong. Because Reign and Snoh's mother also prepared scrambled eggs for her puppies. The plated meal, served on what appears to be a ceramic bowl, included the sliced grilled steak, scrambled eggs, and two pancakes topped with whipped cream and strawberries. Yummy! Those are lucky dogs, am I right?

Can My Dog Eat This?

Treats like this—serving your beloved puppies a well-deserved, elaborate breakfast—are totally OK, but maybe not every day. It's important to check with your puppy's veterinarian about how much food they should be eating each day. This way, the professional can determine whether your dog is over- or under-eating, as well as whether they're getting the proper amount of nutrients for a healthy diet.

In addition, when serving your dogs "human" food, it's helpful to check whether the food is suitable for them. Many foods (such as chocolate) can be very toxic to our furry friends. Again, your dog's veterinarian can guide you on which foods are OK for your puppy to consume.

Food is nutrition, but also a way to connect with others, for both humans and animals. So, preparing a delicious breakfast for your pups doesn't go unappreciated by them. It's just important to be mindful of what they can eat, as the creator in the video was. Let us know if you have ever prepared a meal as delicious as this for your pets!

Neglected Golden Retriever Finally Reaches Freedom—and He Brought a Friend

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 2:00pm

Rescue dogs will all come with a few quirks, even if they came from loving homes that simply could no longer care for them. Not every shelter dog goes through trauma, but many do, and it's those dogs who might have the "strangest" quirks of all.

For one neglected Golden Retriever, his life didn't start out easy at all. He was kept outside, in a shed, with nothing but an empty bowl to play with. Eventually, they let him go... But now that he's in his forever home, thriving, there's still a strange friend along for the ride:

@jusazimfarms

Besides food aggression… he’s the best boy ❤️❤️#dogrescue

♬ original sound - janmegr - janmegr

The Just As I Am Farm is the perfect place for this sweet boy to have ended up. They have lots of land, other animals for him to play with, and most importantly, they truly love him just as he is. According to his new mom, he spent the first 8 years of his life locked in a kennel, with nothing but an empty food bowl for company.

He refused to let it get him down, however; he made sure to play with that bowl to its fullest potential. It was his only toy, and now that he's in his loving forever home, it's still his favorite. Someone in the comments said, "Now he and his bucket have freedom!" Great, I'm crying.

Related: Abandoned Golden Retriever’s Happy Hops After Rescue Are Pure Joy

This is the only video they've posted about this precious boy, but he's not the only rescue animal on the farm. There is also a massive flock of chickens who come racing to greet her the moment she gets home:

@jusazimfarms

But they love me…..😂😂#chicken #chickensoftiktok

♬ original sound - Hayu

These chickens speak volumes. They really show how much care they receive, and they prove that this is the perfect place to rehabilitate the rescued Golden boy!

Rescue Dogs Can Pick Strange Toys

This Golden Retriever choosing an empty bowl to play with is a little silly, but it makes perfect sense. It's the only toy he knows, so of course it's the one he feels the most comfortable with.

A Golden Retriever playing outside.

Rescue dogs have had different levels of access to toys throughout their lives. Some have come from loving homes with lots of toys, while others have literally never seen a toy before in their lives. If you're unsure what kind of toy your rescue dog prefers, try:

  • Asking the shelter for any information that might give you clues.
  • Researching the breed to see if there's a type of toy they tend to prefer.
  • Buying a couple of different ones and letting the dog choose.

If they seem timid, you could always start with stuffed toys that don't have squeakers. You can work your way up from there. Clearly, they'll let you know which ones they like!

This Abandoned Puppy's Life Was Forever Changed by a Loving Family

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 1:55pm

In under a minute, a viral Reddit video posted to r/DogsLoversCommunity showcases a family's life-changing decision to save an abandoned puppy. The video features a combination of clips, from the puppy's early days before he was adopted, to his current life, where he is loved and cared for by his family.

In the first clip, the puppy's long white fur is covered in dirt. The precious pup appears to be shaking and crying, unsure of his surroundings and too shy to approach the person behind the camera.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

The puppy's fur was then shaved, and this clip allows the viewer to spot how tiny and skinny the dog was, a common sign of neglect. But in a more positive light, with much less fur on, the black spots on the white dog's ears became much more visible and a lot more adorable.

Should You Shave Your Dog?

It's not always recommended to shave your dog, especially with a very short style. Even though puppies are adorable with both long and short hair, it's important to know that a dog's coat protects them from UV damage, sunburn and insect bites and helps regulate their body temperature. Which is why it's important to reconsider radical changes at the groomers.

However, in some cases, shaving a dog with a short style is due to medical reasons, and the lovely puppy in this viral Reddit video can be an example of that. For instance, it's very common for abandoned dogs to have a matted coat. Depending on how matted the dog's fur is, it's important to shave the dog so as not to harm them when attempting to untangle it.

Related: This Bernese Mountain Dog's Everything Shower Routine Is More Elaborate Than Yours

A professional can also choose to shave a dog due to an infection or skin wounds. That way, it's much easier to clean the area and apply medication.

In the video, it's clear that shaving the adorable dog was the right call, as it helped him recover and gain strength. With a lovely selection of clips, the dog goes from an anxious pet to a happy pup jumping up and down while waiting for his food.

The end of the viral video showcases the same dog, much bigger now, healthier, and with a beautiful, long, shiny coat. As he plays in the snow wearing a striped vest, it's clear that a loving family can change a puppy's reality. And it's so great to see this amazing dog find the happiness they deserve.

Sweet Street Dog Becomes National Icon as Brazil and Mexico Debate His Origins

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 12:48pm

Mexico recently made a move that has sparked a heated, albeit mostly lighthearted, international debate.

The country officially recognized the "caramelo" dog, the honey-colored, mixed-breed pup seen on nearly every street corner, as an official Mexican breed.

🐶SIGN UP to get "pawsitivity" delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

The caramelo dog has spent decades wandering the streets and sleeping outside cornerstones. After becoming part of daily life across Latin America, the caramelo dog is finally getting official recognition.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/OG1OZ0qFyeI

Yet that recognition sparked an international debate over identity. The news meant to honor the country's most vulnerable animals ruffled feathers in Brazil.

Soon enough, an Instagram post turned into a Mexico vs. Brazil comment war.

Brazil Has a Problem With Mexico

An Instagram post about the announcement sparked a debate, with Brazilian commenters insisting the dog belongs to them.

"This dog is Brazilian and no one can take him from us," one person wrote.

"Caramelo é brasileiro," another added, followed by a Brazilian flag emoji.

Others were even more direct: "Caramelo dog came from Brazil! Mexico has nothing to do with it!"

The reaction makes sense if you know how famous these dogs are in Brazil. The caramel-colored mixed-breed mutt has become a genuine internet symbol there, showing up in memes, jokes, artwork and even unofficial national branding.

In Brazil, the "vira-lata caramelo" represents the ordinary street dog people grew up seeing everywhere. However, this story is bigger than one country.

Related: Stray Dog Living in Abandoned Warehouse Gives Rescuer the Sweetest 'Thank You'

The Dog of Latin America

The caramelo dog is not a purebred with a tightly controlled bloodline. Instead, these mixed breeds can come in a variety of coats, sizes and colors. Some of them have medium builds, others floppy ears, some have short coats, and so on.

They can be found in Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia and many other places across Latin America.

One commenter tried to calm the argument with a longer explanation that spread widely online. "They are not taking them from Brazil. The only reason why it has been recognized is to honor those street dogs that nobody wants because they are not from an official breed."

And that is exactly what Mexico is trying to do.

The Recognition Has a Deeper Purpose

Behind the celebrated recognition lies a harsher reality. Mexico has one of the largest stray dog populations in Latin America. Shelters struggle to find homes for the abandoned dogs. The adoption rates for mixed-breed dogs are extremely low.

Recognizing the caramelo gives visibility to the kinds of dogs many people overlook. The message is simple: these dogs already belong to the culture. They already belong in homes, too.

The street dog has become a symbol. These dogs survived busy roads, heat, hunger, storms and people who ignored them.

They learned how to charm strangers outside food stands to get something to eat. Entire generations grew up seeing them as part of the neighborhood.

Now, they are finally recognized publicly. Whether they call them Mexican, Brazilian or simply Latin American, the caramelo has done something more important. This dog has made millions of people stop and appreciate dogs they used to walk past without noticing.

Finn McGee maintains his puppy-like personality, but now he's a little bigger and stronger, while Big Mama, the only bunny resident, is still top "dog."

Juul Pod (Mango Flavor) joined the family as an older pup, but his stunning, ice-blue eyes are just as captivating now as ever! And while the two kitties have grown up as live-in BFFs, fans can't get enough of the vibrant colors that popped up on the fish because it shows how much they're loved.

♬ Paddington Bear Theme (Overture) - Freddie Williams & The Master Singers & Michael Hordern How Loving Homes Change Rescue Pets

I've rescued a lot of pets throughout my life, and I can say, without a doubt, there's something about them that changes once they begin to feel safe enough to come out of their shells. With love, patience, and a strong, consistent, stable foundation, they start to choose happiness and confidence over fear, which does, in fact, alter their behavior, but also their physical appearance in some ways.

"Blooming" happens when they let their guards down, becoming more playful, relaxed, and attached to their new families. Their eyes soften and get brighter and more expressive than their days of defeat in a shelter, body language shifts from fear-based reactions to sprawling out in the most comfy couch positions, and they might even smile.

Not to mention a little TLC means their fur is shinier and their overall health and well-being are vastly improved—all of which are visible after their rescue. These "before-and-after love" transformations are proof that love really does heal all—my Staffy is proof.

These Precious Wild Cockatoos 'In Love' Are Just Like an Old Married Couple

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 12:00pm

Birds are my biggest inspiration for a lot of reasons. For one thing, they never shut up, which I try to emulate. They also form such strong bonds, both with each other and others, that it sometimes makes me wonder if I love the people around me enough.

These Cockatoos are a masterclass in what love is meant to be. When they were caught on tape having a sweet, loving moment together, it was impossible to ignore how much they obviously care for each other. They're perfect:

Jeremy Films Things all the time, but this might be one of the best things he's ever caught on camera. Only the fact that it was also an absolutely gorgeous day outside could make this better! These sweet birds were enjoying the nice weather, but they enjoyed each other's company even more.

I love seeing videos of Cockatoos, but more often than not, we see them in cages or having supervised play time elsewhere. There's something really special about seeing these beautiful birds in their natural habitat!

Related: Cockatoo’s Morning Cup of Tea Has Him Smiling Ear to Ear

These two Cockatoos didn't even notice Jeremy, which is exactly what a good wildlife photographer strives for. They were just preening each other, and he respectfully got his shot, then he moved on. Next, he found this incredible bird:

He was rehearsing his courtship dance. It is that time of year, after all! I hope it works out well for him, just as well as it worked out for those two Cockatoos!

Preening Is a Sign of Affection for Birds

The Cockatoos in the first video were completely relaxed, preening each other without a care in the world. Clearly, they're comfortable with each other, and it's even clearer that they really love each other.

Two Cockatoos sitting together.

Preening is something birds do to those they love, whether it's other birds or, in the case of captive birds, their favorite humans. If a bird is preening someone else, it means they're:

  • Happy.
  • Familiar.
  • Content.
  • Feeling safe.

Cockatoos tend to mate for life, so that makes this pair even sweeter! Hopefully, they get to preen each other for the rest of their long and happy lives!

This Samoyed Won’t Stop Looking Back at His Human During Walks—and There’s a Reason Why

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 11:20am

Being a dog parent means making time each day for exercise so they can stay their happiest selves. In an ideal situation, you'd exercise with them because it's good for you and your pup, and it's a fun way to bond and spend time together. Some dogs really get into their walks, while others are a little more relaxed about them. But some really make spending time together special.

In this video, we meet a sweet Samoyed who won't stop looking back at his human during their walks, and there's a very interesting reason why.

@nubethesamoyed

The video, shared on April 1 by @nubethesamoyed, shows an adorable Samoyed out for a walk with his family. They're taking a scenic stroll along the beach, and the water and the sand look so relaxing. Such a beautiful way to take in some daily exercise.

It's a beautiful place to run out some energy, but the look on Nube's face the whole time is probably the best part of this whole clip. He keeps looking up to his human with the biggest smile on his face. All to make sure they are having just as good a time as he is. It's impossible to have any other mood than absolutely elated from all the views in this clip.

Samoyed Dogs Are Great Exercise Companions

Nube, the Samoyed, genuinely looks like he loves going outside for walks, and that the exercise rejuvenates him and fills his heart with happiness. That's pretty expected with this beautiful breed.

According to Dogster, Samoyeds need lots of exercise to be their happiest and healthiest selves. Having at least 1 hour set aside for exercise each day is essential for the breed, but experts note that, ideally, 2 hours of exercise should be allotted. Of course, that doesn't have to be all in one go; it can be broken down into 30-minute intervals, like short-leashed walks, sledding, training classes, or swimming, all of which are great options, too.

Dogster also suggests playing an hour of chase or fetch as another great way to get your Samoyed some exercise each day. Both are great ways for them to burn off their energy without it being too much energy for you.

But if your pup looks at you the same way that this Samoyed looks at his family, you'll be more than happy to spend any and all time with them.

Cockatoo’s Morning Cup of Tea Has Him Smiling Ear to Ear

Thu, 05/07/2026 - 11:00am

Cockatoos are like little feathery toddlers. They talk like them, think like them, and they get excited like them, too! It doesn't take much to make a Cockatoo's day. The most important thing to them is knowing that you love them.

Well, most of the time. For one Cockatoo, the most important thing to him is having his morning cup of tea. It's his favorite part of the day! You can tell just by the way he looks at his mug every morning:

@laura_cx90

♬ Here Comes the Sun - Acoustic Duo

Merlin the Cockatoo gets a nice cup of tea every morning in his favorite bird mug. That's his mug: no one else drinks out of it, which is probably for the better. It's the best way to keep everyone, Merlin included, safe!

He has a couple of different flavors he chooses from every day, but chamomile is definitely at the top of his list. His mom brews it in warm water, no sweeteners of any kind. He doesn't drink the whole thing, but he loves his morning ritual! He also really loves that it's bonding time with his mom.

Related: Bratty Cockatoo Meets New Sister and Screams ‘Take Her Back’

His morning cup of tea is really the calm before the storm. After that, the day commences, and he spends the whole day as any Cockatoo would: hooting, hollering, and having fun, as usual. Now that he's settled into his loving home, he can let his true colors shine:

@laura_cx90

By far one of the best decisions ive ever made was to rehome this little terror #rehoming #rescue #cockatoo #cuteanimals #parrot

He was rehomed at 14 years old: his previous caretaker ended up being unable to take him when they moved into an assisted living facility. Adjusting to his new life has taken some time, but with a good enough cup of tea, he can conquer anything!

Lots of Birds Love Tea

Merlin is not the only bird in the world who likes to have a morning cup of tea, not even close! This is a ritual that a lot of bird keepers have with their birds, even the smaller ones. Cockatoos in particular really have an affinity for it.

Cockatoo standing outside.

Image via Shutterstock / UnseenFire

Birds like tea because of its strong flavors, which are usually either very fruity or floral: these are flavors they're used to. Flowers and certain fruits are a big part of a wild Cockatoo's natural diet! If you want to give your Cockatoo a nice cup of tea, make sure it's:

  • Either cold or just slightly warm.
  • Plain (no sugar, honey, cream, or anything else).
  • Caffeine-free.

Steer clear of spiced teas, too: no ginger, nutmeg, or cinnamon notes. Plain chamomile is usually a big hit, just ask Merlin!
