This Golden Retriever Only Drops His Stick for One Thing—and It’s Not What You’d Expect

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 2:31pm

It’s no secret that dogs are full of personality. Depending on the breed, their antics can range from hilarious mannerisms and noises to wildly unexpected actions you never saw coming. But no matter the chaos or bouts of laughter they inspire, there’s hardly anything our fur babies can do to keep us from loving them.

In a recent video shared on Reddit by u/ImprovementOk2279, one adorable golden retriever takes a break from its walk to show off a totally unexpected skill. What starts as a video about a pup and the gigantic stick it found quickly becomes a majestic display of vocal talent nobody ever saw coming.

When a Golden Retriever Just Wants to Help

While out on a walk, it’s almost expected that your dog will try to pick up everything in sight. And if you’re not armed with toys or treats, chances are a stick will eventually become the designated “toy” for the moment.

Such is the case in this hilarious video, when a golden retriever momentarily drops a behemoth of a stick for one very important reason: the sound of fire truck sirens ringing in the background. As if to signal that help is needed to anyone within earshot, the helpful pup drops its stick, sits down regally and lets out one long, majestic howl.

“He only drops his stick for one reason…” reads the caption of the video.

“Wow, the voice,” one viewer marveled. “Mine only drops a stick when he thinks he found a better one.”

Others chimed in, calling the pup “a good boy,” praising its “magnificent awoo,” and insisting it certainly earns him “two sticks” as a reward.

“Awwwwwwww. My German Shepherd/Mastiff did the same thing with fire trucks,” another echoed the sentiment. “I miss that howl.”

Why Do Some Dogs Howl When They Hear Sirens?

While not inherent in every breed, most dogs get their howling behavior from wolves, who use howls to communicate with pack members over long distances. According to experts, when a pup hears a high-pitched sound like a fire truck or ambulance siren, its brain might interpret that noise the same way it once would another dog’s howl and respond by vocalizing back.

It’s also commonly suggested that dogs may howl because the siren seems unfamiliar or even potentially threatening, prompting them to raise their voices as a way of alerting their family or “calling attention” to what’s going on. That said, these instincts vary by dog, as some pups howl enthusiastically at sirens, while others barely react at all.

An easy way to tell why your dog is howling is by observing their behavior. Some howl out of anxiety or stress, pacing or whining along with the sound. Others are happy or playful, wagging their tails or bouncing while they vocalize. Some even use a howl to alert their humans, often sitting up tall and focused, like they’re sending a signal.

This is exactly what our adorable golden retriever does in the video above. Upon hearing the sirens, the good pup sits like a statue and lets out a long, majestic howl, ears down and alert, clearly signaling that something important is happening.

Shelter Dog Goes on Simple Walk—Then the Unthinkable Happens

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 12:48pm

It was supposed to be just another walk. A break from the shelter. A little fresh air. Instead, it changed everything.

A man known for carrying shelter dogs around New York City in a backpack took one pup out like he’s done many times before. The idea is simple: get dogs seen, let people interact with them and show who they really are outside the stress of a kennel.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

This time, it worked exactly the way every shelter hopes it will. By the time the man posted the story of the dog on Reddit, he was already adopted. Cinnamon has found his new forever home, and we cannot be happier for him.

I carry shelter dogs around NYC in a dog backpack to help them get adopted. Meet Cinnamon!
by u/kittytime in aww

As the original poster explained, Cinnamon is a 7-month-old who came to the Best Friends Animal Society as a stray with scars all over his body. He took Cinnamon on a walk on Saturday morning, and he was adopted on the same day. By the time he posted the video on Reddit on Sunday, Cinnamon had found his forever home.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

As we can see in the video posted on Reddit, Cinnamon enjoyed his day outside. He was interacting with people, giving kisses, playing in the park and almost falling asleep in his foster dad's arms. The video got plenty of comments and interactions on Reddit.

The highest praise came from a commenter saying, “Your videos are one of the highlights of Reddit, seriously. I love what you do, thank you.”

There were also cheerful comments about Cinnamon, saying, “Literally makes me so happy! I had a dog very similar to Cinnamon who was from a dog fighting ring and I miss my baby every day. I’m so happy he’s going to have a good family!” and “I'm incredibly sensitive, tough read. Thank you so much for giving Cinnamon a chance to be a dog.”

Why Shelter Dogs Often Get Misunderstood

When you see dogs in a shelter, they might seem anxious. Shelters are loud. Unpredictable. Full of unfamiliar smells and sounds. Even the calmest dog can seem reactive in that setting.

That is a huge reason why dogs get passed over. People are not seeing the dogs as who they are. They are seeing how dogs cope with stress.

Take that same dog on a quiet walk, and the difference can be immediate. Softer body language. Better focus. More trust.

Inside a shelter, dogs can seem completely different. They bark more. They pace. Some shut down entirely. Others come across as “too much energy" for the average adopter.

Then you take that same dog outside. Suddenly, they’re curious instead of anxious. They make eye contact. They lean into strangers. They show personality instead of stress, and that's where the magic is.

Small Ideas Can Change Outcomes

Walking through the crowded streets of New York City, you expect to see yellow cabs and hurried commuters, but you probably do not expect to see a dog’s head poking out of a specialized hiking pack.

But for one man, that is his mission. He carries shelter dogs through the city’s most high-traffic neighborhoods, giving "invisible" dogs a chance to be seen by thousands of potential adopters.

It is a reminder that small ideas can change a lot. Not every adoption story needs a massive campaign. Sometimes, it’s just one person trying something different.

Cockatoo's Cute Curiosity Seeing Turkey Vultures Is Too Precious for Words

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 11:59am

Some animal videos do not just make you smile; they make you stop and fully melt. That is exactly what happens in this sweet clip of Furby the Cockatoo being held by his mom while the two of them check out some turkey vultures off camera.

And somehow, as if that setup was not already charming enough, Furby is wearing the most hilarious little narwhal hoodie.

I mean, come on.

@furbythebirb

#furbythebirb saw some #turkeyvultures #outside #today

♬ original sound - Furby the Birb

You have Furby tucked up in his mom’s arms, dressed like a tiny sea unicorn, staring off with total fascination at something we cannot even see. But honestly, we do not need to see the vultures. Furby’s face tells the whole story. His curiosity is so open and so genuine that it turns the moment into something way bigger than a quick cute clip.

That is what makes this video work so well. It's not loud or chaotic. It's just pure interest. Pure wonder. Furby looks completely locked in, like his little bird brain is trying to process every detail of these giant, mysterious creatures in the sky. It is funny, yes, but it's also kind of inspiring. There is something really lovely about watching an animal be so fully in the moment.

And the narwhal hoodie somehow pushes it from adorable to unforgettable. Furby already has the kind of expressive face that makes every reaction feel personal, but adding that tiny outfit turns him into a full character. He looks like a curious toddler on a nature walk, except with feathers and stronger opinions.

That's the magic of bird videos when they hit just right. They show so much personality in such small gestures. A tilt of the head, a focused stare, a little lean forward, and suddenly you are emotionally invested in one cockatoo having a meaningful vulture encounter.

Furby is this soft, precious little guy in a narwhal hoodie, and the thing grabbing his attention is a turkey vulture, one of the more dramatic-looking birds in existence. The whole visual is incredible.

This is exactly the kind of clip people share because it feels fresh, funny, and wholesome all at once. Furby is not doing tricks. He is not performing. He is just being deeply, authentically interested, and that turns out to be more than enough.

View this post on Instagram Curiosity Is a Great Sign in Companion Birds

Furby’s sweet little stakeout is also a nice reminder that birds benefit from safe novelty and mental stimulation. Pet birds need enrichment and opportunities to explore with their senses, whether that means new sights, new sounds, changing toys, foraging activities, or supervised time taking in the world around them. VCA notes that pet birds need daily psychological stimulation and enrichment, and PetMD notes that enrichment helps prevent boredom and supports natural behaviors like exploration and foraging.

That can be as simple as rotating toys, offering safe perches with a view, introducing new objects gradually, and giving them calm chances to observe the world without overwhelming them. A curious bird is often an engaged bird, and that is a lovely thing to encourage.

Honestly, Furby looked like a tiny feathery naturalist who had just stumbled onto the season finale of Bird Planet.

Adorable ‘Tiny Giant’ Rhino Calf Makes Heartwarming Zoo Debut

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 11:48am

If you’ve ever watched a baby animal take its first steps, you know the feeling. That mix of clumsy and determined. The instinct to stay close to mom. The quiet confidence building with each movement.

That’s what’s currently happening at ZooTampa because thanks to another successful effort for preservation, the zoo recently welcomed a new southern white rhino calf.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

As we can see in a video the zoo released, the healthy baby girl is already sticking closely to her mother. She was named Kelele, a name that means “noise” and “highest peak” in Swahili. Kelele was born on Sunday, March 22, at approximately 3:30 a.m., according to ZooTampa.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EVqb-vPX_Cw

Meet the Baby

Born at almost 100 pounds, Kelele is the seventh baby of Kidogo, a 22-year-old adult rhino. Zoo sources revealed that Kidogo did well and that she has been very attentive to Kelele.

Kidogo was paired with the male rhino Mufasa as part of the Species Survival Plan (SSP). Mufasa is a second-time dad, and Kelele is his first daughter.

Facts About Southern White Rhinos

They are the second-largest land mammals on Earth, right after elephants. The adult males can weigh over 5,000 pounds.

Rhinos are surprisingly social animals. You’ll often find them grazing in small groups, and their wide, square-shaped lips are designed specifically for grazing grass.

Despite their name, white rhinos are actually gray. The name actually comes from a mistranslation of the Dutch word “wijd,” meaning wide.

A newborn calf can weigh over 100 pounds at birth and will stay close to its mother for years, learning everything from feeding habits to social cues.

An interesting fact is that their horns are made of keratin, which is the same material as human fingernails.

A Conservation Miracle

These mammals are listed as “near threatened,” but they represent a conservation miracle. In the 19th century, they were close to extinction, with only a small population of 100 individuals discovered in South Africa.

Yet, after a century of management, there are now almost 18,000 of these mammals. They live in just four countries in the wild: South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Kenya.

They can also be found in protected areas and private game reserves. Southern white rhinos are the only rhino species that are not endangered. The other four are considered endangered.

Great Dane Who ‘Fell in Love’ With a Maine Coon Kitten Is Such a Gentle Giant

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 11:00am

Great Danes might be the size of a small horse, but they're little lap dogs at heart. Their hearts are huge and full of so much love it almost feels impossible; truly, you'll never meet a more loving dog than a Great Dane!

All of that love has to go somewhere, and for one Great Dane, the new Maine Coon kitten in the family was exactly what he needed. Pretty much as soon as she got to her new home, he was ready to take action:

@mrskanline

I don’t even know what’s happening 😂 #greatdane #maincoon

Teddy and Winnie have a little bit of a complicated relationship. Teddy adores Winnie and thinks she's the best thing that has ever happened to him, but Winnie is still little... She's a little unsure!

In the video, Teddy is bonking his new baby repeatedly. She doesn't necessarily seem to be super upset by what's happening: if a cat wants to get away from something, they are going to move away. She's staying put, though, and it looks like she's enjoying it a little! Whenever she is having some time to herself, Teddy seems to get a little offended:

@mrskanline

She absolutely hides when she wants to, for the haters #teddyandwinnie #greatdane #maincoon

♬ original sound - Serena K

Apparently, there are other cats in the house, but Teddy is new, too! He's 7 and was just adopted. He probably likes finally having someone who really understands him, and he wants to comfort her!

Do Maine Coon Cats Like Dogs?

Winnie obviously doesn't hate dogs: if she did, Teddy would not have gotten that many boops in. As she's gotten more comfortable, she and Teddy have even gotten closer. In part, her easygoing nature is definitely due to her breed!

In general, Maine Coons typically don't mind dogs. They're outgoing, social cats who love adventure and meeting new friends! Whether an individual Maine Coon will like dogs is completely up to them, though, and it will depend on factors like:

  • Their age: older cats who haven't been around dogs will have a tougher time.
  • Their size difference: smaller cats and bigger dogs might need more time to adjust.
  • Past experience: some cats, especially rescues, might have past trauma around dogs.

Luckily, Winnie is a blank canvas. Finally, sweet Teddy will have a friend!

Golden Retriever Banished to Bedroom Has Uncontrollable Need To ‘Supervise’ Maintenance Man

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 10:10am

Dogs may feel their own sense of responsibility as part of a family. Their loyalty and devotion to their loved ones inspire them to help out wherever they can, whether it's an extra-long snuggle when someone's feeling down or scarfing down those extra crumbs on the floor so you don't have to vacuum. Our canine companions step up when they're needed, though sometimes they take on roles that were never assigned to them.

Winston the Golden Retriever got a little territorial when a maintenance man stopped by and felt he needed to oversee the home project.

@wackowinston

let me out please🥺

♬ original sound - Winston The Golden

Winston paced the bedroom in the TikTok from @wackowinston as his mom tried to soothe him. The gorgeous Golden whined in protest at being denied an exit and clearly had somewhere he felt he needed to be.

"POV: The maintenance man is here, and Winston is so upset he can't go and get in his way," the onscreen text explained.

Winston obviously felt his expertise was required with whatever the mainenance man was repairing and tried to convince his mom to let him out of the bedroom.

"It's okay," she said as she attempted to calm him down. "You're just going to get in his way, baby. I'm sorry."

The determined dog stood right in front of the door and stared, willing it to open. He sniffed underneath the door in the hopes he could smell what was going on, but to no avail. Winston couldn't believe there was work being done in his home without his assistance.

Followers and fellow Golden Retriever parents understood Winston's need to oversee all home projects.

"Golden Retrievers trying to 'help' maintenance workers — tale as old as time," someone noted.

"Mama… I need to supervise!! Help me, help him… please," a follower joked.

"Rule # 1: All tasks require Golden supervision," another pointed out.

Winston Was Finally Released

Thankfully, Winston didn't have to wait too long before his dad opened the door and announced, "Release the hounds!"

Winston immediately bolted out the door, most likely to inspect the maintenance man's work to make sure it was done correctly.

Super Rare Bengal-Ragdoll Mix Is Like a Silky Dream Cloud

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 10:00am

There are very few things in life I love to see more than rare, awesome cats. Whenever I see one, it literally makes my day. How could it not?! What's prettier than a rare cat, especially when they're a little fluffy?!

Just look at this awesome Bengal-Ragdoll cat mix. He's huge, gorgeous, and he gets whatever he wants, just like he should. He's perfect in every single way:

@kenzothemenacebengal

Kenzo the Bengal-Ragdoll mix is so beautiful it's almost unfair. He's a pretty perfect mix of Ragdoll and Bengal; his coat is mostly that silky, creamy Ragdoll vibe, with some Bengal-like speckles and stripes on his legs. Plus, he's apparently a menace, which is a very Bengal thing.

He's still a baby, but he's already pretty big, which makes perfect sense: Bengals and Ragdolls are both pretty big (Ragdolls are heavier, while Bengals are often longer). Specifically, he's a Snow Lynx Bengal/Blue Ragdoll mix, which explains his light coat and gorgeous blue eyes!

Related: Rare Bengal-Maine Coon Kitten Is Already the Size of a Full-Grown Cat

When Kenzo is not just wowing everyone with his good looks, you can usually find him committing crimes. Both Ragdolls and Bengals are very playful, which leads to a lot of interesting situations for mom:

Her toes are probably so tired of this guy, but they just have to learn to cope. He's probably never going to give up, even when he reaches adulthood. Adult Bengals are crazy, too! His sweet, cuddly Ragdoll genes try their best, but the Bengal in him wins out most of the time.

Life With Bengal-Ragdoll Cats

You're going to be hard-pressed to find cats of this breed; it's uncommon. Since both of these are typically considered more "high-end" breeds, there's more of an emphasis on keeping their bloodlines "pure." However, things happen, and sometimes you end up with a crazy mix.

Ragdoll-Bengal cats are rare, and they're precious, but they're not for everyone. These cats can be:

  • Very active, requiring more exercise every day than other breeds.
  • Super curious and often in the way whenever you're doing something.
  • Incredibly clingy.

They always want to be involved, and these cats will need plenty of training and care in order to reach their full potential. Luckily, Kenzo has that all covered!

Dog Mom of 9 Dachshunds, a Great Dane, and 2 Foster Dogs Celebrates Her Birthday With Pure Chaos

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 9:20am

There is nothing like starting your birthday with a celebration right when you wake up.

And that is exactly what the mom of nine Dachshunds, a Great Dane, a cat, a fish, and two foster dogs named Esme and Winnie did on her birthday.

The account is called @yunabugs, and the dog mom woke up surrounded by most of her dogs, which is a great way to start any day.

Almost all of her dogs were on the bed with her except for Einstein, her Longhaired Dachshund, who has the most amazing hair.

The next event on the perfect birthday is to have a very special birthday breakfast, but first, a quick trip outside for a bathroom break (for the dogs, not their mom).

Mom actually headed to rooftop yoga, and from the looks of it, she was doing a 6 a.m. class, as it was quite dark.

She put up a gate for the dogs, gave them a few treats, and then she was on her way.

After her beautiful yoga class with the sun coming up, she headed back to the pups, and now it was time for breakfast.

At this house, the pets eat first (which, as you can imagine, takes a while), as she has to feed all the dogs, the cat, and the fish.

Then, finally, it was time for her to eat her own breakfast, which was pancakes in the shape of Dachshunds, of course!

@yunabugs

The little boots on the cake at the end.. 😭🥹🥰❤️

♬ original sound - 🎧♪lyric_girly♪🎧

She also had potatoes and fruit. The dogs were, of course, interested in all of it.

The Birthday Ended With a Dachshund Cake

After breakfast, the gang headed back outside for some running time, swimming time, and more bathroom breaks.

Then, finally, to end the day, there was a birthday cake! The cake was perfectly aligned with the theme of the day and this dog mom's life, as it had a little Dachshund and balloons on it.

Senior Golden Retriever Has Magical Experience With Fish in Precious Clip

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:55am

Every first experience a rescue dog has is worth capturing. Regardless of what happened in their past, watching their personalities come alive in the safety of a loving home is truly one of the best things we pet parents can experience.

Duke, a senior Golden Retriever, has been in his forever home for a while now, but he's only just noticed the glowing fish tank. The heartwarming video is a great reminder to get these emotional firsts on film, because they're everything good in the world.

Duke is hypnotized by the swimming fish and the aquarium's ethereal glow. Despite his senior status, this Golden Retriever knows how to enjoy the little things in life. The 19-second video is the best timeline cleanser, highlighting why we'll never deserve dogs like Duke (he's too pure).

For anyone new to @lifewithduke2025, this sweet boy is known for the various odds and ends he retrieves from the house each day and takes to his bed. Whether it's an emotional support box, a good book, or a bottle of bubbly, Duke and his item of the day couldn't be any cuter! Knowing Duke, he's probably scheming up ways to somehow take the fish and their home to his bed!

Related: Golden Retriever Teaching New Puppy Sibling To Swim Is a Lifeguard at Heart

With his new pup sister, Leona, the internet is captivated by Duke's funny antics. Although, having a sibling around means she's running straight to Mom to tell on Duke when he takes something new.

His behavior is still a bit puzzling to Leona, but the rest of us know that when there's a new post, we can expect Duke to give a good show.

For many of the same reasons we like watching fish swim in an aquarium, dogs do, too. Aside from tapping into a dog's prey drive, the visual stimulation fulfills their natural curiosity and can be the perfect sensory activity for cognitive enrichment. Plus, watching the rhythmic motions of fish can be deeply soothing for anxious pups (and us!).

Duke may not have noticed the fish tank in his house before, but that's the beauty of dogs—they're always looking for new ways to see the world, and we're ever-grateful for it!

Dachshund With a Cleft Palate Has the Sweetest Little Snoot

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:20am

It’s our differences that make us unique and special, and this adorable little Dachshundnamed Archie is proof of that in the sweetest way.

Because the first thing you notice is his face. And then you keep looking at his face. And then you realize you’re completely in love with his face.

@archiewiththecleftie

😴😴😴

♬ Vibes do Studio Ghibli - Dandara Music

TikTok user @archiewiththecleftie shared the clip of Archie, a tiny tan Longhaired Dachshund, just lying peacefully with his head on the sofa like a little king. He’s calm, he’s cozy, and his little snoot… It’s different. It curves in a way you don’t expect, and somehow that just makes it even more perfect.

Related: Giant Great Dane Tries To Play With Tiny Dachshund Puppy and It’s Too Much

People in the comments were completely gone over it. One person wrote, “That is the most boopable snoot, and I love it,” and honestly, yes. Immediate boop. No hesitation.

Others couldn’t even process how cute he is, like, “Why is this the cutest dog I have ever seen?” and “How could you not kiss that nose every second?” which feels like a fair question.

Some comments just leaned fully into the uniqueness of it all: “I love the floopy schnozzo,” “He has a trumpet wumpet,” and “What a lovely snoot you have, sir,” which… all correct in their own way.

And then there were the softer ones, “He is such a sweet angel pupper!” and “I love his sniffer,” which is exactly the energy he gives off. Just gentle. Calm. Perfect.

One comment stood out, though: “It never occurred to me dogs could have a cleft palate, what a cutie,” and that’s actually something a lot of people don’t realize.

Do Dogs With Cleft Palates Require Special Care? A vet checking out a dog's teeth.

Image via Shutterstock/PeopleImages

Dogs with cleft palates may require some additional care depending on the severity. A cleft palate means there is an opening in the roof of the mouth, which can sometimes make feeding more challenging, especially when the pups are very young.

Some dogs need special feeding techniques or diets to make sure food doesn’t enter their nasal passages. In more severe cases, surgery may be recommended to correct the opening and improve their quality of life.

But many dogs with cleft palates go on to live happy, comfortable lives with the right support. They adapt. They figure things out. And most of the time, they are just like any other pooch, wanting love, comfort, and a soft place to rest their heads.

If you're considering adopting a dog with a cleft palate, please do. These special pups deserve all the love in the world, and they give it right back in ways that feel a little extra meaningful.

Tiny Parrots Join in on Neighbor’s Late-Night Party With the Silliest Dance Moves

If you've ever had noisy neighbors, you know how annoying it can be sometimes. While it's nice for people to have fun and be able to express themselves, when it's a pattern, it can get kind of annoying! Some might enjoy it, though...

Like these precious little Sun Conures, who were able to use their neighbors' late-night party as an excuse to stay up way past their bedtime. The music was just too good! They couldn't resist staying up to boogie:

@featherandfur

Next time just invite them please 😆 #parrotsoftiktok #birdslove #parrotlove #birdtok #dancingparrot

Bambi and Booja are two adorable Sun Conures living in a whole flock of birds. Their mom had managed to get everyone else to bed before the noise really started... But Bambi and Booja are troublemakers. Whenever they can, they're looking for an excuse to skirt bedtime.

Of course, she didn't want to ruin her neighbors' fun by telling them they were keeping her birds up past their bedtime. The only thing she could do was let the birds dance their little hearts out, and clearly, that's exactly what they did!

Related: Little Girl Helps Disabled Parrot ‘Feel Like She's Flying’ and She’s So Happy and Flappy

They had the most fun ever. That's a really high bar, too; their mom makes sure they have a lot of fun. She has to, or else they would probably get bored and fly off to the neighbors' house!

One of their favorite things is their Bird-kins (a play on the notorious Birkin bags). Recently, Bambi even let the world see what she keeps in hers... I wonder if she brings it to parties!

What’s in Bambi’s BIRDKIN?!?!! Welcome to TikTok Premium 😆 #parrotsoftiktok #birdslove #parrotlove #birdtok #birkin

I mean, that's a pretty good bag. Snacks, a mirror, and a good book? That's about all I keep in my purse, too. She's just missing a good lip balm! Beak balm?

Birds Need Bedtimes

I have three Budgies, and they love to try to get out of going to bed. I'm strict with it, though: they're in bed, cage covered, sound off, room dark at 9:30 pm sharp. Actually, all of the pets whose bedtimes I can control go to bed at that time.

Birds need routine, not just when it comes to bedtime. They thrive with structure! Bedtime is very important, though, because making sure they get enough sleep will help make sure they stay happy and healthy. A good bedtime routine for a bird (no matter what breed of bird it might be) is:

  • Pick a time in the early-mid evening, depending on their wakeup time.
  • Refill their water.
  • Make sure they're in a low-traffic, quiet area of your home.
  • Cover the cage.
  • Turn all the lights off.
  • Optionally, you can put on white noise.

White noise will help drown out other noises in and around your home, helping them fall asleep and stay that way. Partying with the neighbors every once in a while won't hurt, though!

Previously 'Abused' Foster Dog Asks for First Belly Rub and We're Melting

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 7:10am

Many rescue dogs have a traumatic and abusive past and need lots of patience from their new families when they get adopted. These canines often don't fully open up until they've had the time to fully decompress and acclimate to their new environment. Even then, rescue pups still deal with a lot of fear and anxiety.

Isabel Klee is a seasoned animal advocate with over 30 foster dogs to her name. Her most recent rescue, Marmie, suffered from severe trauma and is now slowly coming out of her shell and beginning to trust.

@simonsits

I have no words 😭😭😭 @Muddy Paws Rescue

♬ Ballerina - Yehezkel Raz

Klee recently began fostering Marmie with the help of her fiancé, Jacob, and fur baby, Simon. She previously shared that the foster pup was experiencing certain everyday things for the first time, like toys and television. Klee was used to challenges when it came to foster dogs and had plenty of experience helping previously abused dogs slowly let their guard down.

The TikTok from @simonsits revealed that Marmie may just be starting to feel at home, where she gave a well-known sign of trust.

"You guys have to see what is happening right now," Klee said with a smile as she sat outside with her pups. "This is the first time Marmie has truly, like, given me her full, full belly."

Marmie was lying in the grass on her back in full stretch mode, with her tummy completely exposed and waiting to be rubbed.

"You feel safe," Klee raved as Marmie enjoyed a spa-like belly massage. "You feel so happy."

Why Do Dogs Show Their Belly?

Dogs get into that cozy position on their backs and show off their tummies for several reasons, including:

Related: Street Dog's 'Resilience' and 'Strength' Kept Her 6 Puppies Alive

  • Trust and comfort — This vulnerable position shows that your dog feels safe and secure.
  • Submission — The belly-up pose reveals that your dog isn't looking to challenge anyone's authority and wants a peaceful environment.
  • Playfulness and invitation — Some dogs roll on their backs in silliness and use the position as a sign they want to interact.
  • Attention seeking — Canines often lie on their backs as a request for attention and those beloved belly rubs.
  • Cooling down — Since there is significantly less fur on a dog's tummy, lying on their back helps lower their body temperature after exercise or on hot days.

Marmie may have been communicating all of those items on the list as she continues to thrive under Klee's care, where her foster mom noted, "This is the life you were always meant for."

Grumpy Pug’s Angry Reaction to Slow Feeder Has Everyone Laughing

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 6:33am

Miki, a Pug with a seriously charming grumpy attitude, is not happy. Sure, Pugs are known for their expressive faces and demeanor, but Miki isn’t happy for a very specific reason: his humans have done the unthinkable and given him his lunch in a (gasp!) slow feeder.

Designed for pups who need to shed a few pounds, or for dogs who can’t help but inhale their food as if they’re getting rewarded for eating as quickly as possible, slow feeders can help dogs eat at a slower pace or eat less. In a video shared to social media, Miki makes it very clear he’s not happy with his egg-shaped slow feeder.

Keep reading to see the hilarious video that has social media followers rushing to the comment section and pressing “play again” over and over again.

In the video shared to social media, a wide-eyed white Pug named Miki can be seen giving some major stink eye to an egg-shaped slow feeder. When one of his humans places the carved wood slow feeder in front of the cute but cranky canine, Miki at first stares down his humans and the slow feeder. With no signs of the slow feeder being taken away, Miki begins to bat his paws at the wooden egg to get his meal to come out of the object’s designated holes.

Social media followers were completely enamored with the Pug, who made his disdain for the egg-shaped slow feeder crystal clear.

One wrote, “He’s eating each morsel with a heart full of spite.” Another added, “I don’t know if he absolutely hates his slow feeder or if he loves it.”

“He def does NOT wanna work for his snacks,” commented one more.

“So adorable,” noted another, “yet so rage filled.”

While Miki makes it clear he’s not thrilled by the effort he’s going to have to go through to get his (undoubtedly well-earned) treats, he does quickly get to work to procure his food.

Miki takes no time figuring out how to get to his food. This Pug may be putting his current mood on display, but he’s also demonstrating his smarts, too. Way to figure it out so quickly, Miki. Enjoy your snack.

Golden Retriever's Unbelievable Reunion with Dolphin After a Year Is Mind-Blowing

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 6:22am

Tula, the Golden Retriever, was unexpectedly reunited with a dolphin who had befriended the pup the year before, and the video is truly amazing. While Tula and her family were hanging out by the water, the dolphin appeared, swimming intently alongside the family's dock and clearly looking for its long-lost canine pal. Tula recognized the dolphin, and all her mom could do was keep the dog from jumping into the water.

Tula's mom and fans agreed that the unlikely friendship was straight out of a movie – namely, Zeus and Roxann, which is (you guessed it), a film about a dog and a dolphin who become besties.

@morgiepb

Fans called the meeting "magical" and "amazing," and were convinced that the two animals were communicating. While we can't know whether this dolphin is the same one from the year before, it's clear these two have a special connection. Tula's excitement and the dolphin's curiosity are genuinely undeniable.

Not The First Time

It seems that Tula and her pal are following in the footsteps of other dog-dolphin friendships, like Gunner and Delta. A golden retriever named Gunner and a dolphin named Delta met at a Florida marine center when Gunner was just an 8-week-old puppy, and they immediately clicked.

Related: Rescue Pup Smiles Uncontrollably at Seeing His Dad After 36 Hours

Instead of barking or losing his mind (as one might expect), Gunner calmly watched Delta from the dock, which immediately caught the dolphin's attention. Delta—described as playful and curious—started swimming over to him, even bringing him toys like a dog when trying to make a new friend.

From there, the relationship grew naturally. Gunner learned to “play” with Delta from the dock, and over time, their interactions became a regular thing. Years later, even though they don’t see each other as often, they still recognize one another right away—and Delta is usually the first to swim over and say hello.

The takeaway is less about science and more about vibes: sometimes calm energy, curiosity, and a willingness to engage are all it takes—even across species, land, and water.

Border Collie Achieves 'Diamond' Status With Flawless Regency Dance

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 11:48pm

Some dogs have a hard time learning the sit command. This Border Collie? Strike the Border Collie just performed a full Bridgerton-inspired dance routine.

There's a TikTok from @the_trickstars where a Border Collie's executing what can only be described as choreographed Regency-era moves, and the caption reads "Had to do a dog version of the Bridgerton dance.. 🤣" which undersells how impressive this actually is.

Strike is spinning, weaving, performing on cue—she’s basically doing everything except wearing a ballgown. It's a full choreographed routine. Coordinated. Timed. Absolutley flawless.

@the_trickstars

Had to do a dog version of the Bridgerton dance.. 🤣 #bridgerton #dancingdog #dogdance #dogtricks #bordercollie

♬ 360 (Arr. For Cello Obligato and String Quartet) - Peter Gregson

The comments are a mix of awe and people comparing their own dogs' capabilities.

"Flawless, my dear" somebody wrote, channeling their inner Bridgerton character.

"This is brilliant" captured the general reaction.

"I can't even get my dog to sit" one person admitted, feeling the gap between their dog and this performance.

"We've found this season's diamond 💎" using the Bridgerton language for the season's standout debutante.

Related: French Bulldog Gets PetSmart Shopping Trip—'I Won't Rush Him, This Is His Sephora'

"Lord Puppington 🥹" someone dubbed the performer.

Then came the comparisons and reality checks: "My dog farts and looks at me like I did it." "My dog can steal food from my kids." "I showed this to my dog, she said it's AI." "My dog barks at fresh air."

But this Border Collie? She’s performing a multi-step choreographed dance routine like it's opening night at Britain’s Got Talent.

Border Collies Are Exceptionally Intelligent Dogs Who Excel at Learning Complex Sequences

Here's why this Border Collie's performance makes total sense: Border Collies are consistently ranked as one of the most intelligent dog breeds. They're working dogs bred for herding, which actually requires them to learn and execute complex commands, often at a distance. Obviously, she was made for dancing.

Teaching a dog to dance isn't just one trick—it's teaching multiple separate skills and then stringing them together into a dance routine. It’s just as complicated as it sounds. Spins, weaves, standing on hind legs, moving in sync with a human—each one's a separate behavior that has to be learned, practiced, and eventually combined to music.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Border Collies excel at this kind of exercise because they're genuinely capable of learning long sequences. They are that smart. They thrive on mental stimulation and physical activity, which makes dance training the perfect activity for them. A bored Border Collie will find their own entertainment. A trained one will perform Bridgerton choreography. You choose.

The process involves breaking down each move, rewarding it consistently, adding verbal and hand signal cues, then gradually building the full routine. It takes a lot of time, patience, and treats. But Border Collies have the intelligence, the focus, and the perseverence to make it work.

This particular dog performing a Bridgerton dance? That's a Border Collie doing exactly what Border Collies do—working, learning, and executing commands flawlessly.

Diamond status? Absolutely earned.

Dog Mom Hilariously Creates Scene From 'The Devil Wears Prada' With Her Pups

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 8:20pm

The press and marketing for The Devil Wears Prada 2 have already been insane, and the movie doesn't even come out until May.

From paparazzi footage of them filming last summer to merchandising deals and teaser trailers, there is no doubt this movie will be huge.

But let's not forget the original and why it's a classic.

The Devil Wears Prada, which came out in 2006, made Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt big stars and had so many great one-liners like "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking."

View this post on Instagram

That is why we love this new video from the account @audreekate of a dog mom reenacting a scene from the film with her two dogs, a Poodle and a Golden Retriever.

She has her Poodle in sunglasses and a chic neck scarf, and has her Golden Retriever in a beautiful headscarf.

They are standing in her fabulous closet, or rather, a room where she keeps her gorgeous shoe collection on shelves.

The dogs give their mom perfectly judgy stares as she is dressed in a typical cold-weather, dog-walking outfit consisting of a big, puffy jacket (that's misbuttoned), Uggs, and messy hair.

She used the soundbite from The Devil Wears Prada, in which Meryl Streep's character, the iconic Miranda Priestly, judges Andy for her outfit (Anne Hathaway), but she mistakenly calls her Emily.

The dogs look at their mom as she pulls out a large roll of poop bags.

It goes perfectly with the dialogue, and we are here for it!

Audree writes in the caption, "We will need to minimize press at the dog park."

Get Ready for 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'

Clearly, these pups are ready for the film, but are you ready?

The highly anticipated sequel brings back most of the original cast, including Oscar winners Streep and Hathaway, as well as Oscar nominees Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.

As far as the plot, we don't know much, but we know it will focus on Miranda Priestly's fight to keep Runway magazine afloat as print media struggles.

New additions to the cast include Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, and B.J. Novak.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be in theaters on May 1, 2026.

Dachshund's Precious Little 'Lion Paws' Are Totally Pure Perfection

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 7:55pm

Of all the adorable pets on the planet, it takes a little something extra to stand out. Whether they have a human-looking face, dramatically long Dumbo ears, or a Swiffer Duster-looking tail, these cats and dogs are "#blessedtoimpress" in the most swoon-worthy ways.

Lil Reg, the Dachshund, leads a pack of his own with a unique feature you might not expect: his gigantic lion paws! For such a little gent, those disproportionate mitts are giving "short king" vibes all day!

@pawfectexplorer

Can't get enough of Reggie's paws 🤷‍♀️. Lion paws on a little body 🦁 . #sausagedog #dachshund #paws #appreciation

♬ original sound - Lil Reg

When Mom captions the post, "Can't get enough of Reggie's paws," and "Lion paws on a little body," she wasn't joking! The video gives us a front-row seat into the precious pup's tiny frame, zooming in on those epic-sized extremities, which were clearly meant for a much larger animal!

Reg may not have needed extra sauce in the womb, but he got it, and he's working it like a boss. This is one of those clips that doesn't need much context or action. It's all about the perfectly pampered prince showing the world why Dachshunds are so impossibly cute.

Related: Dramatic Dachshund Throws Theatrical Tantrum Over Having To Share With Family

I've never had a dog with paws larger than average, so I'm a little obsessed with Reg right now. If you're feeling the same, I have good news—he gets even cuter! I'm of the mind this good boy could do anything and make my heart go pitter-patter, but in another post, we get to hear Reg's darling noises when begging for treats.

Warning: If you didn't fall head over heels with Reg's paws, you'll be mesmerized by his mild and meek conversation!

@pawfectexplorer

...unless it's one where he refuses to walk 🤷‍♀️😅. I'm only playing 🤷‍♀️. As a big Harry Potter fan and an even bigger Reg fan, I had to do this trend. Reg could take on any of those #sausagedog #dachshund #harrypotteredit #dogreel #sausagedoglove

♬ original sound - Harry Potter Dachshunds Have Big Paws for Good Reason

As darling as Reg's paws are, they serve a specific purpose that dates back to their origins as hunters of small prey. Dachshunds' big, paddle-shaped paws, with thick pads and strong toes, act like mini shovels to dig tunnels. They also have slightly turned-out legs like seals to help with their digging efforts—all the better to do their jobs!

If you can't imagine the total picture of this Doxie (and why his paws are so significant), Mom shared another post showing his actual proportions (which you can see by clicking here), and it only adds to his charm. The impressively long Dachshund is the epitome of a "sausage pup" or "hot dog," lion paws and all, and we're not worthy!

Huge Doodle Perched in a Tiny Cat Tree Has People Doing a Double Take

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 7:20pm

A giant Doodle sitting in a cat tree is not something you expect to see, but that is exactly what’s happening here, and somehow it makes perfect sense.

This Doodle, named JumJum, has fully claimed a tiny cat tree, like it was built specifically for him, and honestly… no one seems willing to argue.

@monzbgs250

Whatcha looking at? 👀😹 . . . . . . . . . . . . . doglife #puppy #dogs #doglove #dogvideo #love

♬ original sound - mONzbGs250

TikTok user @monzbgs250 shared the clip of a very large Doodle named JumJum sitting on a tiny cat tree perch, as if he belongs there. Not awkwardly. Not unsure. Fully settled in.

The caption says he is absolutely convinced the cat tree is made for him, and honestly… yeah. You can tell.

Related: Sweet Cat Finally Gets a New Best Friend After Heartbreaking Loss

He’s up on this little perch on the patio, surrounded by other dogs and puppies below him like they are peasants, while a Black Cat casually exists on another level, and a Himalayan cat is tucked into one of the little hidey boxes. Just a full mixed-species situation happening, and nobody seems concerned.

JumJum is just sitting there, proud of himself. Happy. Comfortable. Zero thoughts about physics.

People in the comments immediately understood the assignment. One person said, “This is peak Poodle behavior,” which feels like something we should all accept as fact.

Another wrote, “Shhhh, he thinks he’s a cat,” and honestly, no one should correct him at this point.

Then there was, “He's assimilating,” which is a little dramatic but also… not wrong.

One comment went full-on philosophical: “The cat allows the dog to sit there as a display of his benevolence to all the other lower subspecies,” which feels exactly like something a cat would believe.

And then, simply, “But he's so happy!~” which is really the whole point.

Also, quick thought: The confidence it takes to just claim a cat tree as your own when you are clearly not the target audience… I respect it. On the other hand, our cat tree is by the front door, so the kitties can look out the window, and when we carry groceries in, we put our Pomeranian in it because he can't get down. So we use it like a dog jail.

Maybe Because His Best Friend's a Cat? @monzbgs250

BEST FRIENDS: Meow and Forever 🖤🤍 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #puppy #dogs #catoftheday #bff #dogoftheday

♬ original sound - mONzbGs250

There’s actually a second clip where JumJum is hanging out in another cat tree with a Himalayan cat, and the two of them are playing and chasing each other like this is just their normal routine.

Which makes the whole thing make a lot more sense.

Dogs who grow up around cats, or who spend a lot of time with them, tend to pick up on their habits. They get curious. They want to be where the cats are, doing whatever the cats are doing, even if it does not fully apply to them.

So if the kitty is in the tree… well. Obviously, he should also be in the tree.

It’s less about logic and more about friendship. And maybe a little bit about not wanting to be left out.

And honestly, if you had the option to sit up high and supervise everyone like that, you probably would, too.

Adorable Pit Bull Puppies Transform Into Characters from 'The Pitt'—And the Results Are Too Cute to Miss

Mon, 03/30/2026 - 6:55pm

If there’s one thing guaranteed to stop a scroll, it’s puppies. But a group of pit bull pups just took things to the next level by channeling characters from HBO’s The Pitt in a creative (and wildly adorable) adoption campaign.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

A 'Code Cute' Moment You Can’t Scroll Past

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) recently introduced a litter of nine adoptable puppies on its Facebook page in a way that was equal parts clever and heart-melting. Dubbed “The Pitt litter,” each pup was matched to a character from the show and styled accordingly. Think tiny doctor’s coats, scrubs and accessories that made them look ready to clock in for a shift at the cutest ER imaginable.

The concept was simple but effective: take something people already love (a buzzy TV show), pair it with something they really love (puppies) and create a post that’s impossible to ignore. And it worked!

Related: Husky Turning New Rescue Puppy Sibling Into a 'Movie Buff' Couldn't Be Sweeter

From Stray Beginnings to Forever Homes

Behind the playful photos, there’s a much bigger story. The puppies were born to stray dogs and found living outdoors in Georgia before being transported to ARF through a rescue partner. Like so many rescue pets, they had a rough start, but thanks to coordinated efforts, they were given a real shot at a better life.

And that’s exactly what they got. Within days of the post going live, all nine puppies were adopted.

Why This Creative Idea Worked So Well

Coming up with fresh ways to showcase adoptable pets isn’t always easy, especially for shelters that have been doing this work for decades. That’s where this campaign stood out.

By matching each puppy’s coloring and personality to a specific character, the rescue gave every dog a built-in identity. It wasn’t just “brown puppy #3”—it was a tiny doctor with a role, a vibe and a story. And people noticed.

Commenters couldn’t get over how accurate the pairings were, pointing out details like facial markings that resembled beards or expressions that perfectly matched their human counterparts. Others joked that the entire litter had earned a “PhD in cuteness”—and honestly, fair.

The Power of Social Media in Pet Adoption

Stories like this highlight something shelters already know: social media isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a game changer.

A single post can reach far beyond a rescue’s local community, connecting animals with adopters who might never have found them otherwise. Every like, comment and share helps boost visibility, increasing the chances that the right person sees a pet at the right time.

Even if you’re not in a position to adopt, engaging with posts from shelters can genuinely make a difference. That quick double-tap or share might be the reason a dog or cat finds their future family.

As for “The Pitt litter," their first season may be over, but it came with the best possible finale: every single one finding their forever family
