A normal day on the golf course requires some planning to make sure you've got all the supplies you need to play your best game. But for some players on the green, their game took a sharp turn when a gigantic alligator casually made his way across the greens like he owned the place. 

When nature decides to wander onto the fairway in an "only in Florida" moment, terrified players have no option other than to freeze. Take a look at this scary scene.

TikTok user @oliviabrenlla shared a video she took while out on the golf course getting some exercise in. She was minding her own business when an unwelcome visitor started to stroll across the green. Not a person, not a bird or a dog, but a massive alligator. 

She notes in the caption that the alligator is just "Florida for ya" and that it was "so scary but so cool," but I'm not sure how everyone is just standing there. That's perhaps the best move: to not panic and draw attention, but alligators can run. And this is a massive, giant alligator!

In the comments, hundreds of people were also caught by surprise at how big this alligator really seems. 

One person wrote, "The way I immediately knew it was Florida without reading the caption."

Another shared, "What’s up with gators/crocs and golf fields? I don’t get it."

Someone else added, "I need to travel to Florida [because] this is the excitement I can benefit from since my depression won't let me feel."

Other comments included, "Alligators aren’t aggressive, crocodiles are," "Is it just me or are gators getting taller?" "He's safer on the green than the pond while I golf," "This is why I’m not moving to Florida. It’s so hot, too," "I genuinely forgot they existed," and "I’d just stand there and cry."

It doesn't seem like the person who recorded and shared this video is terribly afraid of the alligator, and as she notes, it's not unusual at all to see them if you live in Florida. But if you're not a resident or someone who has lived there for a while, Naples Florida Vacation Homes has a few safety tips. 

They explain that yes, alligators are a "part of life down here," but even if you've been there forever, seeing one in real life can still produce a big fear response. "These critters are often found on the golf course or in a neighborhood—really, anywhere close to fresh or even brackish water," the site notes. 

You should never approach an alligator on land, and if one turns toward you and starts to run, your best bet is to run straight away from the alligator and the water. But they say that while it's natural to be stressed and afraid of seeing an alligator in the wild, generally, if you're not bothering them, they won't bother you. 

There are some pet videos that feel less like content and more like a plea.

This one is about Noir.

And honestly, it is hard to watch without wanting to reach through the screen and scoop him up.

The video caption says this is a second attempt to help him find a home, and that alone already hurts. Noir is a Black Shelter Cat who, according to the post, gets overlooked because he is not what some people think of as the “prettiest looking.” He also has synechia, which needs to be monitored, though he does not currently need extra care for it. None of that changes the most important part, which is obvious the second you watch him.

He is loving.

He is social.

And he really does not want to be left alone.

You can see it in the video. Noir is not shut down or distant. He is reaching out. He wants human companionship. He loves other cats, loves toys, and seems like the kind of cat who would happily turn into your shadow if you gave him the chance. Some shelter animals look resigned. Noir still looks hopeful, and for some reason, that almost makes it worse.

Because how is this little guy still waiting?

One comment says, “You do such a good job showing off the beautiful things people overlook. I would have a 100 kitties if I could ❤️,” and that really gets at the heart of it. So many wonderful animals get ignored for the shallowest reasons, whether it is their color, age, medical quirks, or the fact that they do not photograph like a perfectly polished kitten in a greeting card. Meanwhile, the actual things that matter, affection, personality, sweetness, the ability to bond deeply, are sitting right there in front of us.

Another commenter wrote, “I’m praying he finds he’s forever home 🥹🙏🏻🫶🏻 he deserves all the happiness in this world 🤍” and yes, exactly. Noir does deserve that. Not eventually. Not after ten more people scroll past. Now.

It's not just sad. It's unfair in such a familiar way. A cat who clearly has so much love to give is being judged before he even gets the chance to offer it.

And Noir is not asking for perfection.

He is asking for one person to see him clearly.

If Noir’s story hits you in the chest, there is a reason. Shelter animals who are older, black-coated, medically unique, or visually “different” often get passed by faster than their personalities can register, even though they may be just as affectionate, playful, and deeply bonded to people as any other pet. A good rule when adopting is to spend a little extra time with the animal who was not your obvious first pick, because that is often where the magic is.

The post encourages serious adopters to apply through NAWS, and that's also a good reminder to ask shelters direct questions about temperament, social needs, and daily care rather than focusing only on appearance. Sometimes the pet who gets overlooked in the shelter is the one who ends up loving you the hardest.

Honestly, Noir is the kind of cat who looks like he would spend one week in your house and then start acting like he emotionally rescued you.

If you've ever had more than one dog, you've probably noticed they start picking up each other's habits. But these adorable golden retrievers have taken it to a whole new level.

In a hilarious and adorable YouTube Short posted by @TuckerBudzyn, two golden retrievers prove they're operating on the same wavelength. The on-screen text sums it up perfectly: "My dogs all share the same brain cell."

From the very first clip, the duo moves in near-perfect sync. They walk side by side with their tails swishing at the exact same rhythm, as if they rehearsed it. Another clip shows them both "splooting" onto the floor in identical positions, facing the same direction, as if someone hit copy and paste.

The coordination doesn't stop there. The two pups are also seen rubbing up against textured hallway walls at the same time, tearing into their BarkBox deliveries with matching enthusiasm and rolling onto their backs in the grass in complete unison.

It's the kind of synchronization that is actually pretty incredible to witness. And viewers seem to agree.

"They are literally the same dog sharing a brain cell," one person wrote in the comment section.

"I thought this was 1 dog and a mirror," another added.

"Oh my gosh, if that isn't the most adorable mind syncs of all time," someone else said.

And honestly, they're not wrong—it really does look like one dog duplicated.

As incredible as it looks, this kind of behavior actually has some pretty simple explanations.

Dogs are highly social animals, and they naturally learn by observing one another—a concept known as social learning. Basically, one dog does something, and the other follows.

Over time, dogs who live together also develop similar routines and responses to their environment. They eat, play, rest and react to the same cues, so it's no surprise their behaviors start to line up.

There's also something called behavioral mirroring, where animals (and humans, too) subconsciously copy each other's movements—a sign of bonding and comfort within a group.

So while these golden retrievers aren't actually sharing one brain cell, it definitely looks like they are!

A lot of cats politely tolerate grooming, and then there is Charlie, a Tabby cat who has decided grooming time is his moment to fully let go of every last shred of dignity. In a video that is equal parts hilarious and slightly NSFW, Charlie is stretched out on his cat mom’s bed while she brushes him, and… he is not holding back.

The caption says, “We love grooming time very much,” which feels like an understatement once you see what is actually happening here. Charlie is fully spread out, legs wide, toes splayed, making biscuits in the air like he is clocked into a job no one asked him to do. It is a full production. It is commitment. It is a level of comfort I personally have never known.

This hilariously pearl-clutchy clip was shared on the TikTok account @thesydneybuchanan, and those in the comments immediately understood the assignment and escalated things further.

“Me at my wax appointment,” one person wrote, which is both deeply relatable and something I did not expect to read today.

Another said, “What in the onlypaws is going on here,” and honestly, correct. There are questions. Many questions.

“A bean spread and air biscuit combo?!” someone added, which sounds like a menu item, but it also perfectly describes the situation.

“Air biscuits and toe beans workin' overtime,” another commenter wrote, and you can literally see it. This cat is multitasking.

Then came the concern. “Does your cat know you posted this?” and “There are kittens on this app,” which feels fair because Charlie is exposing… everything. All of it. No mystery left.

“You know it’s good when they make air biscuits,” someone pointed out, which is actually true. That level of relaxation usually means a kitty feels safe, comfortable, and completely unbothered by the world around them.

And then the line that took me out: “Even rumors don’t spread that wide.”

“Just exposing all the business,” another person added, which, yes. That is exactly what is happening. Charlie is not just relaxed. He is aggressively relaxed. Like if one of my cats ever did this, I would simply turn off the lights and give him privacy, but Charlie said no, this is a public event.

Most cats learn to enjoy brushing when they're introduced to it early, ideally as kittens. Starting young helps them associate grooming with something positive instead of something suspicious that they must fight at all costs.

Short, gentle sessions are key at first. You want to keep things calm, use a soft brush, and pair it with treats or quiet praise so your kitty starts to connect grooming with feeling good. Over time, many cats will actually start to seek it out, especially if they realize it means attention, relaxation, and maybe a little treat situation afterward.

Pay attention to your pet's body language, too. If they start getting tense or overstimulated, it is better to stop and try again later rather than push through and turn it into a negative experience. The goal is not perfection. The goal is eventually getting to a place where your furbaby is so comfortable they are… well, doing whatever Charlie is doing here.

Because while this level of chaos may not be guaranteed, a relaxed, happy cat who enjoys being groomed absolutely is. And occasionally, you might just get a full bean spread performance as a bonus.

Police officers face a mix of situations ranging from dangerous interactions to piles of paperwork. Sometimes they get called to serve in animal control, which can bring its own set of challenges.

On April 1, New Jersey State Police responded to an unusual call that sounded more like an April Fool's joke than a genuine concern. A bear cub was spotted in a ditch in Union Township and couldn't find his way out, so the NJ officers came to the rescue.

New Jersey Troopers in Union Township rescued a lone bear cub who was spotted in a roadside ditch. Troopers found the cub alone and in need of assistance. He was later released to the Department of Environmental Protection for proper care.

The troopers from Troop "B" Perryville Station arrived on the scene along Interstate 78 in the early afternoon.

"Mama bear was apparently nowhere in sight," WABC-TV's Sade Baderinwa reported in the TikTok from @abc7ny, with heartwarming clips of the adorable baby bear in a trooper's arms and appearing to play peek-a-boo behind the back seat of the patrol car. "Troopers came by, scooped the cute little bear up, and brought it back to the barracks after a little fun in the cruiser."

Troopers later released the cub cutie to the Department of Environmental Protection to ensure he received appropriate care.

"Thanks to the swift response of the troopers, the cub is now safe and receiving the attention he needs," the New Jersey State Police said, according to foxweather.com.

Viewers fell in love with the fur baby and praised the police for their rescue.

"So adorable and precious — thank you officer for saving this beautiful soul," someone raved.

"Name him Fuzzy Wuzzy!!" another suggested.

"His face is saying, 'I'm so getting grounded'," one joked.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) noted that black bears have been sighted in all of New Jersey’s 21 counties this winter, with the majority living in the Northwest part of the state. Food items and trash left outside should be kept to a minimum to avoid bear encounters in your neighborhood.

"We’ve had a long winter, and black bears are emerging from their dens and searching for food," NJDEP Fish & Wildlife Assistant Commissioner Dave Golden remarked. "It’s very important that residents reduce the potential for encounters by removing trash and other potential food sources, as the smell can draw them into neighborhoods."

Thanks to these New Jersey State troopers, this baby bear is safe and will hopefully stay out of trouble from now on.

The video shows Nugget curled up in a plush, cave-like cat bed. The look on his face appears to say, "Yes, this is mine now." 

When his mom tries to gently coax him out, Nugget isn't having it. He stays put, tucked in and comfortable, making it very clear he has no intention of leaving his chosen gift behind.

According to the caption, it took quite a while to eventually get him out.

Viewers were completely charmed by Nugget's no-nonsense approach to birthday shopping.

"You're gonna have to just carry him in there straight to the register," one person wrote in the comment section.

"Can't blame him… if that thing came human-sized, the staff would have to carry me in it all the way to the counter," another wrote.

"All natural organic advertising—even I want one seeing how cozy he looks in there," someone else added. Honestly, same.

So what made Nugget zero in on this bed in particular?

Cats are naturally drawn to cozy, enclosed spaces because they make them feel safe and secure. In the wild, small, tucked-away spots offer protection while still allowing cats to quietly observe their surroundings. Domesticated cats still carry that instinct with them.

There's also the comfort factor. Soft, plush beds trap warmth, creating the perfect environment for a long, uninterrupted nap—something cats are always on the lookout for.

So when Nugget climbed right in and refused to leave, he wasn't being dramatic—he was doing exactly what cats are wired to do.

While the video doesn't reveal whether Nugget's mom ended up buying the bed, it's hard to imagine leaving the store without it, especially with Nugget already settled in, as if he owns it.

You spend $30 on a dog toy. It lasts four days. Then you leave a cat toy on the floor by accident, and suddenly your dog hasn't moved in an hour.

That's exactly what happened here. One second, it's lying there, clearly designed for something smaller, lighter, more delicate. The next, a full-grown German shepherd has claimed it as if it were the most important object in the house.

And it looks like he is not giving it back. At first, the German shepherd in the video shared on Reddit's r/germanshepherds looks curious about the cat toy. He is trying to scratch it with his paws.

And unlike any dog toy he has played with before, the cat moves like a mouse. And that makes it that much more interesting. At one point, he even tries to grab it with his mouth.

What changes here isn't the toy, it's the dog's reaction to it. At first glance, it's funny. A big dog obsessed with something tiny. But watch closely, and it starts to make more sense.

The way he carries it, guards it, re-engages with it over and over again. This isn't random; it's instinct to find an unexpected outlet.

What looks like a big dog instantly turns into a cat-like animal trying to catch a mouse. One fan commented, "He is thoroughly amused by it. Very cute. Still some mysteries to this toy."

More pet parents have tried experimenting with cat toys. One person said, "I gave mine a moving fish cat toy. He does that but he also keeps barking at it."

Most people think the only difference is durability. It's not. Cat toys are designed to trigger prey-like movements—quick, erratic and unpredictable. These movements activate a cat's hunting sequence: stalk, chase and pounce.

Dog toys, on the other hand, are built for chewing, tugging and sustained engagement. They're less about quick bursts and more about endurance.

That tiny toy moves in a way most dog toys don't. It's light. It reacts instantly. It feels alive in motion.

For a German shepherd, a breed wired for work, tracking, and responsiveness, that kind of stimulation can flip a switch.

That movement taps into the same chase-and-capture instincts used in herding or protection work, just in a much smaller, more chaotic package.

You never know what you're going to see when you go to the beach. The ocean is so vast it's really scary, and there are just so many possibilities. You could see a cool shell, an awesome fish... Or, apparently, a beached shark who needed to be rescued.

That's exactly what happened to one woman when she was on a walk along the beach. It's not every day a shark will need your help, but when they do... I suppose some brave people will answer the call:

She says she's spent her entire life admiring sharks, so to see him so up close even before he got messed up on the beach was already incredible. Then, apparently, a wave came in and totally flipped him over, sending him into shallower waters.

He got stuck there. Now, this is when a lot of people might call someone, but she couldn't help herself. She watched him struggle until she was totally positive he couldn't free himself, and then she and another kind human stopped to help. After about 2 hours, they freed him! There's another angle of the encounter:

FINAL PART. When we first saw the shark we tried a first approach to help, after a couple trys we called FWC, but they told us it could take a while to get there. Sharks can die fast in situations like this... So we continued to help him... in one ocasion this shark entered in a kind of paralysis for being upside down from another wave... After almost two hours trying, at the end and with the help of two fishermen, the four of us finally managed to push him into the deeper middle channel between the sandbars. I was crying and praying the whole time. 🙏 Then something unbelievable happened. 🌎🦋 Three bigger waves rolled in. 🌊First wave… boom. 🌊Second wave… and the shark took it like a surfer and cleared the sandbar.🦈🤯💙🙏 I dropped to my knees crying, exhausted, and with an explosion of hormones.. 🥹 That moment will live in my memory in slow motion forever. One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. 🦈🌊 And I have seen so much beauty in this world, but what I lived in that moment is a difficult beauty to explain 🤍 The last images were actually recorded by a biker passing by the highway. Before posting any of this I already sent the footage and full story to FWC and several shark research institutions. To clarify this shark had no tag, looked strong and healthy, just a small patch of skin missing near the dorsal fin, no fishing hooks either. (Thank God!) A true beast. And he wanted to live!! I’m sharing this because sharks are so misunderstood… but they are key to a healthy ocean. According to her, they tried to call professionals, but they told her it would be a while, and beached sharks are kind of an urgent issue. Was this the safest thing ever? No, but it was a compassionate thing. I'm glad all of the humans and the shark made it safely!

Someone said, "Steve Irwin is smiling at this." Is there seawater in my eyes or are those tears..?

This shark was beached for about 2 hours, though luckily, he'd gotten himself stuck somewhere with at least some water. She did say in a caption that he seemed to enter a state of paralysis at one point, but he ended up being okay in the end.

Exactly how long a shark can survive out of the water will depend on the type and size of the shark, as well as the temperature. Some small species can survive for hours, but bigger sharks, like Great Whites, can only survive a couple of minutes.

They have to keep swimming to keep water flowing through their gills, so even being stuck in shallow water won't be enough to keep them alive for very long. Most likely, being moved around by this team of people helped keep this boy alive long enough to make it to safety!

If you see something like this on the beach, though, you should always contact professionals before even thinking about attempting anything. Additionally, never go it alone!

A Woodstock, Georgia Pug is lucky to be alive after suffering a violent Raccoonattack. The Pug was playing in his backyard when the Raccoon aggressively pounced on the pup. The Pug’s human came running out to rescue the dog, only to end up getting into a physical fight with the Raccoon himself. The whole incident was caught on video and shared with a local news station, leaving viewers shocked. Video of the attack quickly went viral, with commenters commending the dad for his heroics.

Fox 5 Atlanta shared the story in a televised news report, followed by a social media post. In the video, the Raccoon attacks the Pug, wrestling it through the backyard while tearing at its coat. Dad comes running onto the scene, first attempting to kick the Raccoon off the Pug, only to find himself off-balance and falling to the ground. He rolls a few feet before recovering his footing and then attempts to pull the wild critter off his beloved dog.

Dad then resorts to trying to separate the Pug and the Raccoon with a long stick but has no luck. Eventually, Mom runs out to help but also finds herself sliding down the sloped backyard. The brave pair ultimately frees the Pug and safely gets the Raccoon to exit.

“I love people who care about dogs,” commented one viewer after seeing the video of the attack.

Another shared, “I feel sorry for both the dog and raccoon,” echoing the sentiments of many.

“Oh my goodness! How scary,” shared another.

Some commenters were quick to place blame on the humans. In the report, Dad mentions he noticed a family of Raccoons living in his backyard and approached to get some video. That’s when the Raccoon attacked his dog and chaos ensued.

Ultimately, Raccoons can be aggressive and sometimes carry rabies, so it’s best not to approach them. It’s also important to note that with any wild animal family, from Raccoons to Bears, a mother will quickly become aggressive to protect her young.

It’s entirely possible this harrowing incident started because a mama Raccoon felt her babies were being threatened. If that’s the case, who could blame her?

We already know how much Chewy LOVES his grandma. He's enjoyed burger dates with her and heeded her important advice, but in this latest video, the sweet Newfie is earning his keep by helping the busy 96-year-old in the garden. What grandma says goes, and when she directs Chewy to dig, the gentle giant digs. They have quite the assembly line going: grandma points, Chewy digs the hole, and grandma plants the flowers until the task is finished. The whole thing is truly adorable and heartwarming.

For dogs like Stevie, that means that the world is just reorganized. They map space using scent trails, air movement, sound reflection, and memory of repeated paths.

This is where routine comes into play. Once a blind dog learns a space, they move through it with surprising confidence.

There's a quiet shift that happens when you walk a blind dog. You stop thinking of the leash as control and start seeing it as communication.

Every step you take tells them something: you are safe, keep going, nothing ahead can hurt you.

Rescue dogs need time and patience to acclimate to their new surroundings when they are fostered or adopted. Previously abandoned or abused canines have a lot of trauma to heal from, and their anxious behavior is often a result of their past. With compassion and understanding, these dogs flourish once they feel safe.

Isabel Klee has fostered over 30 dogs to date, most of them with serious medical and behavioral challenges. Marmie is her most recent foster and came from an abusive situation, so Klee is patiently helping her learn to let her guard down. Recently, the animal advocate left Marmie alone to take her other fur baby, Simon, for a quick walk. Marmie was not happy about it and let her mom know.

Apparently, Klee was gone for less than half an hour, but that seemed like an eternity to Marmie. The little pooch loudly vocalized her frustration with loud barks the entire time she was alone. The TikTok from @simonsits showed Klee's conversation with the precious pup upon her return.

"Are you sorry for causing a ruckus?" Klee softly asked as Marmie joyfully climbed all over her foster mom to greet her. "I could hear you barking from outside. You know that?"

Klee had a loving talk with Marmie to go over the incident, and remind the canine cutie that she would never be abandoned again.

"I could hear you barking," Klee reiterated. "That's a little dramatic. I just left to walk Simon, and you knew I was going to come back. When we were walking down the street, I heard a little dog bark. And guess who it was? It was you."

Klee took an extra gentle approach with Marmie, who couldn't stop cuddling with her mom.

"Why were you so upset?" Klee sweetly asked. "It was like 20 minutes. It was not very long. What do you have to say for yourself?"

Marmie just stared back at Klee with pure love in her eyes. The fur baby expressed her apology through tons of affection, which her foster mom happily received and reciprocated.

In time, Marmie will learn that Klee will always come back for her.

Emus are large, flightless birds native to Australia, and while they might look like chaotic backyard celebrities in videos like this, they do require specific care. Compared to all other Persian cats, Atchoum really is in a league of his own, respectfully! He doesn't have to perform any cool tricks or show off any vocal skills because his existence is the gift. I wouldn't get any work done, ever, if I had this cutie chillin' like a villain in my house!

As you can see, Atchoum has quite a bit more fur than other Persian cats. "Werewolf syndrome" is technically called hypertrichosis, and it's an extremely rare, nonfatal, and congenital condition in cats that spawns rapid and excessive hair growth and claw thickening.

All that hair sprouting out makes them look like they're always having a bad hair day in the cutest, most disheveled way. Atchoum is probably the most famous cat with the disorder, so it's great that his mom is using social media to educate us all about the unique look.

She noted on his website that he's the only one known to have the condition, so she doesn't know how things will progress. The syndrome also caused him to have tiny teeth, and he's well cared for by his vet, living his best life. It doesn't hurt that Mom's a skilled groomer to help keep all that sweet hair looking its best!

Maine Coon kittens are my favorite kind of kitten. They always have been, and they always will be. When they're born, they're already bigger and fluffier than a regular kitten, and they grow like weeds for several years after.

Black Diamond Maine Coons is a cattery with some of the most beautiful cats in the game. They specialize in European-style Maine Coons, so the ones who grow up to look like little lions. They also have a lot of Maine Coons with this sort of coloring!

When this little kitty was young, he looked nearly identical to a polar bear cub, especially in his face. He looked like the kind of guy you'd find out in the tundra, battling a seal to survive! However, he's in fact a cat, safe and sound with his caretaker. He also has different-colored paws!

Maine Coons don't reach full-grown until about 3-4, but after about 2 years, you'll notice that they seem to "stop" growing. They might not get any bigger, but a lot of things about them are still changing. Their facial features sharpen, their coats continue to fill out, and their growth plates close.

Black Diamond Maine Coons has all sorts of pretty kitties, but one of the main things they specialize in is "Smoke" cats. They come in tons of different colors, and they're so beautiful!

"Smoke" refers to a specific pigmentation structure. Essentially, the base of the fur is dark and full of pigment, but as you get further towards the tip of the fur, it loses the pigment, typically becoming either light grey or white. It gives the appearance of a shroud of smoke.

The coloring is typically not all over the cat: it's usually concentrated in different areas. The neck is a big one, often leading to that "collared" appearance. They're so regal, and I know this sweet polar bear boy will make the best addition to a loving home someday!

This adorable bird is definitely a sign that spring has arrived. (Yay!) These birds return to the Northeast as the weather grows warmer. They have a unique coloration pattern that allows them to blend in with wooded environments. They're also known for their long bills, which they use to grab earthworms out of the soil.

Woodcocks are also famous for their "meep" vocalizations, which have made them popular with birders and non-birders alike. But, of course, they're not just doing it for our entertainment. This is part of their mating ritual. Their goofy dance moves might seem like an addition to that, but it's more likely that birds take those bouncy steps to loosen soil and locate more worms. (Sorry, worms!)

Whatever the reason, we're excited to catch this gorgeous creature living the life of a New Yorker in spring—enjoying the park and making new friends!

It looks peaceful, still water, and a gentle drift. Then you notice what she is holding.

The first time you watch the video shared on Reddit's r/Awww of a sea otter mother with her baby, you might not even notice the offspring.

But look closely, and you will notice a mother otter, floating on her back, cradling her baby against her chest. Not loosely. Not casually. Tightly, like she knows exactly how fragile this moment is.

Fans genuinely loved how the sea otter mother was protecting her baby. They commented things like "I would trust her with my whole existence," "This has melted my heart," and "The way otter mommies fuss over their babies is so freaking cute."

And then one commenter mentioned the important date coming up in May, saying, "Happy Mother's Day in advance." (The United States and Canada celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May, which this year falls on May 10.)

Sea otters spend much of their lives in the water, including raising their young. That creates a challenge most land animals never face. There is nowhere solid to rest.

At the same time, newborn otter pups are not ready for the ocean right away. Their fur is so dense that they float easily, but they lack the strength and coordination to survive on their own.

Mothers have to adapt, and they do it by floating on their backs, using their bodies as both cradle and anchor. Sometimes, they even wrap themselves in kelp to avoid drifting away while they rest with their pups.

They invest an enormous amount of energy into grooming their babies to maintain the insulating quality of their fur, all while diving for food. They have learned that holding their babies is more than affection; it is protection.

After about six months, otter pups begin to develop the skills they need to survive independently. Hunting, diving and grooming all become part of their daily routine.

At some point, the mother stops carrying them. It is gradual, but clear. The pup starts to drift a little farther each day, no longer anchored to her chest. It is the natural shift from protection to independence.

Niall Harbison created his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo, to help street dogs get the food and medical care they needed not only to survive, but to thrive. The animal advocate and his team also give these canines lots of love, affection, and emotional support so they can fully heal from past trauma and abuse. Harbison tends to dogs of all ages and sizes, and is committed to helping every pooch he finds.

Twix was just a puppy when he crossed paths with Harbison, but then he disappeared. The Happy Doggo founder never forgot about Twix and set out to make sure they reunited.

Twix was just a small, brown, fluffy pup when Harbison discovered him on the streets of Thailand. The Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo featured the rescue founder holding the precious puppy, yet Twix went missing shortly after their time together.

"We searched for months for a puppy who had vanished," the onscreen text shared. "Until we finally found him."

Never one to give up, Harbison searched for Twix and eventually located the canine. A few months made quite a difference in Twix's size — he had grown into a medium-sized, honey-colored pooch with the same heart of gold. Harbison "knew he deserved more than the streets" and was determined to find Twix a forever home.

The friendly fur baby was adopted and transported to his new family. The video showed Twix walking toward his new home with "his first look at forever." Clips of the sweet dog running on the beach and playing with toys highlighted how he's enjoying his new life.

"It’s been a few weeks since Twix left the island, and he’s already forgotten what life on the street was like," the caption shared. "From a puppy who vanished to a dog who’s found his soulmate. You made it, Twix."

The former street dog is now thriving with his forever family. "Twix finally found where he belongs," the video concluded.
