Video of Kind Man Sharing His Water With a Thirsty Squirrel Has the Internet Melting

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 5:06am

If you’ve ever come across a Squirrel while out at a local park or on a woodsy hike, you know these curious critters are particularly cute. Squirrels can also be incredibly bold—if not fearless—in the company of large crowds of humans, especially if those humans have what most squirrels want: food. Despite their adorable faces and busy, fluffy tails, Squirrels aren’t domesticated and should be considered wild animals, even when they approach for food.

Squirrels are, however, incredibly smart animals known for their complex problem-solving abilities. These small rodents are also highly adaptable and can remember thousands of food locations for months. While Squirrels can be tricky when it comes to protecting their food, they can also grow accustomed to humans and even learn from them.

A social media-famous Squirrel recently went viral for his highly unusual interaction with a hiker on a hot Phoenix day. As the man sat down to take a break from the blazing desert heat, the parched Squirrel approached him after noticing his water bottle. The hiker quickly recognized that the Squirrel was incredibly thirsty. Rather than shooing the little animal away, he took the straw from his water backpack and used it to create an ad hoc water fountain for the thirsty Squirrel.

We love how calm the hiker was and how trusting the Squirrel was in return. Judging by how much water the Squirrel drank, the hiker stepped in just in time.

“The Squirrel was so polite about it, too,” observed one commenter. “Humanity is still alive,” added another.

Another viewer gushed, “This is the sweetest thing I’ve seen all week.”

The internet can’t get enough of the viral video, though some caution that Squirrels can carry diseases and, despite their friendly appearance, may bite or scratch if humans get too close. Luckily for the hiker in the video above, this Squirrel just wanted a sip of water. Judging by the over-100-degree temperatures in Arizona in February, the generous hiker came along at just the right time to help a Squirrel in need.

Border Collie Foster Puppy Sliding on His Belly for Pets Is Too Sweet

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:20pm

Most dogs run to greet you. Other dogs jump, some bark, some lose their entire minds. This Border Collie foster puppy? He slides. Fully commits to it. Belly to the ground, little legs working overtime, inching his way toward his foster mom like a tiny, fluffy love missile with zero brakes.

The caption says, “Our foster puppy has the cutest way of greeting us when we get home. My heart can’t handle it,” and honestly, same. Because this is not just cute. This is the kind of cute that makes you pause midday and question your entire emotional stability. He is white and tan, ridiculously fluffy, and clearly trying so hard to contain his excitement that it just leaks out sideways in the form of this slow, determined belly crawl. Check out how incredibly precious this baby is!

The adorable TikTok clip was shared by @winniethecattledog, and people in the comments were immediately in love.

“Active submission, letting you know he’s friendly and not threatening and the bestest boy,” one person wrote, which is exactly what it feels like. Like he’s politely introducing himself in the most dramatic way possible.

Related: Previously 'Abused' Foster Dog Asks for First Belly Rub and We're Melting

“How could no one fall in love with a puppy who is made of love?” another said, and honestly, I don’t have an answer. I would fail immediately. Papers signed. He lives here now.

“Give the pup a kiss from me,” someone added, and yes, several. Immediately.

“Sneak attack belly rubs will never not be precious,” which feels like the correct response to a dog who is literally presenting himself like this.

“Trying so hard to control his excitement!” another person pointed out, and you can see it. He wants to explode with joy but is somehow channeling it into this very polite, very wiggly crawl.

“That’s heart-melting. What a sweet little man!” and yes. Exactly that.

And then the comment that always gets me: “So cute, I don’t think I will ever be able to just foster them. I will just keep them all.” Same. I would be a complete foster failure within hours. But you have to give it to all the incredible foster dog parents out there who just give these pets the best starts before finding their forever homes, so they can then welcome another furbaby in need into their houses and hearts.

What To Expect When Fostering a Puppy @brynn_buono

best “impulse decision” I’ve made to date #fosterpuppy #austinpetsalive #austinanimalcenter

♬ original sound - 🤍🥥S•phia🐚🍨

Fostering a puppy is one of those things that sounds simple until you are actually in it, and then suddenly your entire house revolves around a tiny creature who needs everything. It is rewarding in a way that's hard to explain, but it also comes with real responsibility, and yes, emotional risk.

You can expect a lot of adjustments in the beginning. Puppies may be nervous, unsure, or overly excited, depending on their background. They are learning a new space, new people, and new routines all at once. That means patience is key, especially in those first few days.

There is also the practical side. Feeding schedules, potty training, basic commands, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable. It's a lot of small, consistent effort that adds up quickly.

But then there is the part no one fully prepares you for. The bond. Puppies, especially foster puppies, can form deep attachments fast. They look to you for comfort, security, and love, and it is very easy to fall right back.

Which is why “foster failure” is such a real thing. You go in thinking you are just helping temporarily, and then one day a tiny fluffy puppy slides across the floor toward you like this… and suddenly you are rethinking everything.

Tabby Cat Becomes Reluctant Babysitter to Newborn and We Can't Even

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 7:55pm

It is always a transition when a new baby enters the picture.

There are new sounds, new stuff, and new smells.

This can be a lot for a dog or cat, though it seems that cats tend to enjoy using the baby's stuff a bit more, especially the beds.

It seems like we keep seeing video after video of cats taking advantage of all the new pillows, cribs, and bassinets around them to find the perfect places to take a nap!

In a new video from the account @dontstopmeowing, we see a beautiful, big Tabby cat contentedly taking a nap in his new human baby sister's bassinet.

Little does he know that his mom was planning on putting his sister down for her nap in her bed.

Well, the Tabby seems to have no intention of moving, so his mom decides he will just have to share the space.

She moves a blanket and then lays his sister down next to him.

He looks a bit perplexed about why he has to share, but not enough to vacate the bed.

Then his mom tucks them both in with a blanket, and they make the absolute cutest duo.

Soon, the cat falls asleep, and they are two sleepy peas in a pod.

Mom then says, "Why do I keep having babies when I should just keep having cats!"

Then she points out that now the baby and the kitty are linking arms. It couldn't be any cuter!

Then it cuts to the baby waking up a little later and wiggling a bit, but the cat is still not moving, and he's decided to give in to his role as the babysitter.

He didn’t sign up for this 🤣😂 #fyp #foryou #foryoupage

Why do cats love to use baby stuff?

Well, first of all, cats are naturally curious, so if something is lying around their space, they are probably going to check it out.

Plus, it is soft and smells like a baby, which is intriguing to them.

Kitties are also very maternal (even male cats), so though he played it off like he didn't care at first, he may want to be near the baby to protect her.

Fluffy Corgi's Adorable 'Hello' for Mom Makes Him the Cutest Hype Man

Having a dog greet you as you walk in the door is the best feeling ever. You're never more popular than strolling through, being greeted by the best hype squad on Earth. Even the quiet, demure pups have a way of making us feel like celebrities.

If you're a Corgi parent like me, you're not getting demure; it's more like your own personal cheering section! In one of the most Corgi-coded videos I've seen, Walnut knows how to make his mom feel special, too. The second she's home, he literally screams with joy!

In all honesty, I knew *nothing* about Corgis when we adopted my girl, Tater Tot, at the end of 2020. In case you've been thinking of adding one of these cool pups to your family, here's what I've learned from experience.

Corgis are athletic, lively herding dogs who have unmatched enthusiasm for pleasing their pack—just don't underestimate the herding part! Tater loves herding our cats (and human kids) upstairs, and by the look on her face, she's proud of herself for doing it!

She's also one of the most devoted, intelligent, and "will do anything for those I love" kind of dogs I've ever had, but also really chatty. She "awoos" as if having real conversations with us, and it's the cutest. And any passing sirens are her chance to show off her pipes!

I can't rave enough about the breed. Corgis really are that awesome!

This Bengal Cat’s Rare, ‘Psychedelic’ Coat Has People Wondering If She’s Real

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 6:55pm

A Bengal who was recently posted to Reddit’s r/SupermodelCats looks so unreal, some people genuinely aren’t sure if they’re looking at a real animal or AI.

The jaw-dropping feline is captivating viewers with her high-contrast markings, icy blue eyes and hypnotic coat pattern. At first glance, her look feels almost too other-worldly, like something digitally created. But according to her pet parent, she’s very real, and just as mesmerizing in person.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

A Rare (and Seriously Stunning) Combination

In the comments section, her pet parent shared that she’s a charcoal seal lynx (snow) Bengal, a rare combination that explains her striking appearance, as seen below.

The “seal lynx” coloring comes from the same colorpoint gene seen in Siamese cats, giving her that pale, creamy coat and vivid blue eyes. The charcoal trait—passed down from the Bengal’s wild ancestor, the Asian leopard cat—adds that dramatic dark mask and boosts contrast throughout her coat.

The result is a surreal look that stops people mid-scroll. And it’s not just the color. Her markings—those swirling rosettes—are bold and well-defined, adding to her mesmerizing appearance

Related: This Cat’s Dreamy Aqua-Teal Eyes Have Everyone Mesmerized

The Internet Is Completely Captivated

Reddit users had a lot to say about this striking feline.

“Whoa… she almost looks psychedelic!” one person wrote.

“She is STUNNING! Wow!” said another.

“I am mesmerized with the pattern on her!” added a third.

One commenter even questioned whether the cat was AI-generated—a fair reaction, honestly. But the pet parent quickly reassured everyone: she’s very real, and there are plenty more photos where that came from.

Beauty Meets Big Personality

Of course, she’s not just a pretty face. According to her mom, she's incredibly affectionate (but on her own terms, of course). She’s a “massive purr-er” who sounds like a jet engine, loves nighttime scratches and has recently started sleeping curled up on her human’s back or chest.

And her signature move? Headbutts—enthusiastic, full-force ones.

Is This Type of Bengal Rare?

Bengals themselves aren’t exactly rare—they’re a popular (and highly recognizable) breed known for their wild, leopard-like look. But this particular combination of traits is where things get uncommon.

This cat’s charcoal seal lynx (snow) coloring is considered rare within the Bengal breed. Snow Bengals are less common than the typical brown variety, and adding the charcoal gene makes the look even more unusual.

In other words, while Bengals are known for being eye-catching, this cat is a next-level version of that signature look.

Blind Basset Hound Who 'Thinks She's Begging' Is the Cutest Thing We've Ever Seen

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 6:10pm

Dogs who deal with certain physical challenges are known to compensate by depending on their other abilities. Deaf canines usually have razor-sharp eyesight to make up for the hearing deficit. If a dog is missing a limb, they find ways to navigate their environment by strengthening their three legs. Their capacity to overcome obstacles is just another testament to a canine's resilience and ingenuity.

Lily the Basset Hound is blind and recently tried her best to beg for some treats, but still needs to work on honing her other skills.

♬ Tchaikovsky "Dance of the Reed Flutes"(1257471) - kzy

Lily sat in the kitchen, facing the cabinets and refrigerator in the TikTok from @readrinserepeat. Apparently, she was attempting to get something from her mom.

"My blind dog thinks she is begging," the onscreen text explained.

The sweet Basset Hound wasn't aware that her mother was behind her rather than in front of her.

"Lily, you're in the wrong direction," her mom gently told the pooch. "Can you come over here?"

The canine cutie stood up and walked forward instead of turning around, still under the assumption that she was facing her mom.

"Honey, this way — turn around," her mom encouraged, clapping to give Lily a clue of her location.

Lily continued her forward motion and even "nose booped" the refrigerator and cabinets. She sniffed the area in front of her, expecting her mom to be standing right there. Her mom kept cheering her on to do an about-face.

Lily Finally Found Her Mom

With some time and effort, Lily eventually turned around and headed toward her mom, but not without bumping into a chair. At last, the beautiful Basset made it to her destination, with her mom praising her accomplishment. Lily then immediately resumed her begging expression and stance.

"The say if you lose one sense the others sharpen… we are still waiting for evidence of that over here," the caption joked.

Pregnant Cat in the Universal ‘Tired of Being Pregnant’ Pose Has Moms Everywhere Cracking Up

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 5:00pm

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, no matter what species. The miracle of life is incredible... But in every pregnancy, there comes a point where you're ready to meet the life you created and get it out of your body.

That's exactly where one cat is at in her pregnancy right now, and you can tell. Her mom walked in on her sitting in bed, striking a pose that anyone who has ever been pregnant knows all too well:

@magsmat13

♬ Little Life - Robert Gromotka

Tomasa the Cat has been pregnant forever. Okay, it's only been a couple of months, but it feels like it's been forever. She's not just growing one baby, remember: cats are typically pregnant with litters of 3+ kittens at a time, even when it's their first litter.

Tomasa was close to her due date in this video, and she clearly knew that. It's possible that lying on her stomach is uncomfortable, which is why she's stretched out on her back. Or, maybe she's just looking at her mom like, "do you see what I have to go through?!"

Related: Mama Cat Gives Birth the Morning of Her Spay and Her Kittens Are Little Balls of Happiness

A few days after this video was taken, Tomasa actually gave birth! There were six babies in total, including a couple of orange ones, a couple of black ones, a Tuxedo, and a Tortie! They're a beautiful bunch, though the video is a little graphic. Before they were born, though, their mama loved belly rubs:

@magsmat13

Tomasa is the sweetest girl 🥰

♬ A Gentle Sunlight - James Quinn

Tomasa's mom says that the babies and their mom will all be getting spayed or neutered as soon as it's possible and safe. She knows Mama doesn't want to have to go through that again!

Do Cats Get Tired of Pregnancy?

Pregnancy takes a toll on the body. It's long, it's awkward, and it's always uncomfortable. Expectant mothers normally feel some type of way, even cats: there comes a point when you just want to be done being pregnant!

Kittens lying with their mother.

Image via Shutterstock / Pif Paf Puf Studio

As a cat's pregnancy begins to reach its end, you might notice that they're more irritable than normal. They might not want to snuggle, and they might be less inclined to let you pet them. Additionally, they may become a little less hungry as their due date approaches.

A decrease in appetite and increased lethargy is completely normal in a cat who's about to give birth, but a cat who refuses all food and is basically unresponsive is not. If you think your cat could be having complications, get them to the vet quickly!

Fluffy Cat With Lilac Fur and Mesmerizing Copper Eyes Has Everyone in Awe

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 4:55pm

Not all showstoppers strut down a runway. Some just casually sit on a cat tree and gaze out the window. Such is the case with Clay the cat, who recently graced Reddit’s r/SupermodelCats.

A Cat That Stops You Mid-Scroll

Clay is turning heads for all the right reasons. With his fluffy, lilac-toned coat and piercing copper eyes, he has the kind of look that makes you do a double take.

His soft, smoky fur paired with those warm, glowing eyes creates a contrast that feels almost unreal. Add in his plush, cloud-like coat, and you’ve got a cat that looks more like a work of art than your average house pet.

A Rare (and Mysterious) Look

According to his pet parent, Clay was adopted from a shelter as a kitten, making his unique appearance even more surprising.

She later learned—after sharing about him in a cat genetics subreddit—that he’s likely a long-haired lilac, a coat color that many people (herself included) had never even heard of before.

Because Clay is a rescue, his exact lineage is unknown, which only adds to the mystery. But whatever his background, it resulted in a truly one-of-a-kind look.

Related: This Cat’s Dreamy Aqua-Teal Eyes Have Everyone Mesmerized

The Internet Is Obsessed

Unsurprisingly, Reddit users are completely captivated.

Comments on the post range from simple admiration to full-on awe, with people calling out everything from his “mesmerizing” eyes to his unusual coat color and soft-looking fur. Others couldn’t get over how stunning his features look together.

Even veterinary professionals have taken notice. His mom shared that her vet was “holding him up in the air and muttering about how intriguing his fur color was.”

More Than Just a Pretty Face

While every cat deserves love, Clay’s story is a great reminder that you don’t have to go to a breeder to find a truly striking, one-of-a-kind pet. Shelters are full of cats with unique looks, personalities and stories, all of them just waiting for someone to notice them.

Choosing to adopt not only gives a cat in need a second chance, but also helps make space for other animals to be rescued and find homes of their own.

Clay may have the look of a rare, designer cat, but at the end of the day, he’s a rescue who simply got his chance. And now, he’s out here stealing hearts one mesmerizing stare at a time.

Gigantic Swordfish Weighing Nearly 500 Pounds Caught Off Florida Keys and the Video Is Wild

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 4:00pm

The ocean is one of my favorite things in the world. I love learning about it, and I will watch any documentary on it at any time. It's so diverse, colorful, and completely puzzling in every way. When it comes to getting near it, though... No thanks.

There's some crazy stuff in there! Recently, a couple of fishermen managed to catch a swordfish that weighed nearly 500 pounds! You have to see it. That thing is massive:

@nbcnews

A swordfish weighing over 480 pounds was caught off the coast of the Florida Keys, taking the boat captain more than 5 hours to reel the fish in.

♬ original sound - nbcnews - nbcnews

I'm glad @nbcnews posted this video: some people try to tell me being scared of going in the ocean is unreasonable, but things like this make me disagree. That swordfish is so big!

Related: Precious Baby Manatee Who Looks Like ‘Tiny Marshmallow’ Has Hearts Melting

The captain of the boat, Jose Rodriguez, is a fisherman in the waters off the Florida Keys. He's caught tons of fish, including kingfish, other swordfish, and more, but this swordfish is the most impressive of them all! According to the crew, it took 5 hours to reel it in and secure it on the boat.

The swordfish weighed about 480 pounds! A swordfish of that size is most likely between 15-20 years old, and was almost certainly a female. The first mate and his son were the ones who reeled it in, and their dedication was impressive!

What Is a 480-Pound Swordfish Worth?

Market price for seafood is ever-changing, but one thing that stays relatively consistent is that swordfish is one of the most expensive cuts. Somewhere between 60-80% of a swordfish's body weight can be filleted into good meat, depending on the fish.

Swordfish being pulled onto a boat.

Image via Shutterstock / lunamarina

Right now, the average price of a swordfish steak is about $25 per pound in most places. If this 480-pound swordfish has 60% quality meat, that's 288 pounds, which will yield about $7,200. The total could also be different, depending on:

  • If there's more good meat.
  • Who they sell to (wholesale buyers typically buy for less).
  • The demand.

Regardless, they'll make a pretty penny, and even better, they'll have an awesome story to tell forever! This is the kind of thing that would have had our ancestors believing that sea monsters were real! To be honest, I still kind of believe it...

We Can't Stop Laughing at How This Golden Retriever Watches Her Cartoons

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 12:48pm

The children's TV show Twirlywoos may have stopped airing in 2017, but thanks to streaming, toddlers are still being delighted by it. And for one golden retriever, the show still very much feels like must-see TV.

"Yesterday she perched herself on the table to get a closer look at a car zooming around the screen....who knows, maybe she'll learn something from the show too!🤷‍♀️" wrote the curious pooch's owner on Reddit's r/goldenretrievers.

In the video, we see the golden completely mesmerized by the show's colorful stop-motion animation.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

One commenter painted another perfect picture of a similar situation, saying, "My 5yr old golden watches the Wheel of Fortune with my elderly parents every night. He knows their schedule, so at 6:29pm every night he gets up from wherever he is and goes to their TV room and sits and leans against my dad's leg and watches with them. When it's over he goes back to napping."

Can't help but wonder if this pooch has amassed an extensive vocabulary thanks to the game show.

Another commenter talked about what happens when another dog appears on the screen, saying, "My dog was oblivious too, except for one time when she looked up and saw another golden retriever on the TV. That time, she barked and bumped the screen with her nose."

Why Moving Images Are so Hard for Dogs to Ignore

Dogs experience the world differently from us, especially when it comes to vision.

They are far more sensitive to motion than humans. Modern televisions with higher refresh rates display motion in a way that dogs can clearly perceive. Older televisions often looked like flickering images for dogs, but newer screens appear smoother and more lifelike.

That means fast-moving shapes, bright colors and animated characters can grab their attention in a very real way.

The Joy of Sharing a Screen With Your Dog

There is something oddly comforting about seeing a dog enjoy something so ordinary.

You sit on the couch, turn on a show, and suddenly your dog is right there with you, watching. Not out of loyalty, but genuine curiosity. While we may never know exactly what they think they are seeing, moments like this make it feel like the gap between us is just a little bit smaller.

2-Month-Old Puppy Becomes Tech Firm’s ‘Employee of the Month’ for Zero Work

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 12:48pm

She showed up on Monday, and by Tuesday, the standup meeting ran 10 minutes long because nobody wanted to stop talking about her.

That is what happened at a tech firm that shared the story of its new employee, a 2-month-old Chow Chow puppy, on Reddit.

Often, when employees bring dogs to the office, things change. It starts with one glance. Then another. And before anyone realizes it, an entire office has quietly stopped working.

Our newest coworker is only 2 months old! Her main job seems to be being cute.
by u/KIRI_Engine_App in aww

Here is the moment when productivity can disappear. You sit down with your morning coffee, open your laptop and prepare to check your to-do list. Then, you hear soft paws on the floor. A tiny head appears beside your chair.

You tell yourself you will just pet her for a second. Ten minutes later, you are on the floor.

That is the kind of shift a puppy creates. It is not loud or disruptive. It is softer than that. More persuasive. The kind of distraction people welcome.

One commenter on the original Reddit post summed it up perfectly: zero work done, still employee of the month.

How Are Fans Reacting to It?

Naming her employee of the month was not the only funny comment. People loved seeing the two-month-old Chow Chow puppy and had some thoughts on her work at the office.

“Best we can do is doubling the treat quota and adding a 15-minute scheduled nap every hour,” wrote one person. Another commenter said, “Nono, her job is to help raise morale and provide emocional support in the Office, her being cute is just a bonus.”

And one commenter gave her a new title: CCO. In his words, “She's the CCO... Chief Chaos Officer! (Or Chief Cuteness Officer, depending on her mood, lol).” We couldn't agree more.

How Puppies Change the Entire Mood of a Workplace

There is a reason this scenario feels so familiar. Puppies do more than distract. They reset the emotional tone of a room.

Research on workplace animals has shown that dogs can lower stress levels and increase social interaction between coworkers. Even brief interactions, like petting a dog for a few minutes, can reduce cortisol, the hormone linked to stress.

In a high-pressure environment like a tech firm, that matters.

People talk more. They smile more. Conversations start that would not have happened otherwise. And for a few moments, deadlines feel less overwhelming.

The next time someone suggests bringing a dog to the office, maybe the real question isn't whether it's professional. It's whether your team needs it, and from the looks of the joy this pup brings, we think every office could use the boost of morale a puppy brings.

Rare Golden Retriever-Bernese Mountain Dog Mix Is the Perfect Blend of Two Beautiful Breeds

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 11:20am

All dogs are beautiful in our eyes, but some just have something extra that takes their beauty to a whole new level. When it comes to rare-breed mixes, seeing features or colors we're not used to adds to the spectacular and adorableness of it all, and these pups tend to be very memorable.

And this video of a stunning Golden Retriever-Bernese Mountain Dog mix is the perfect example of how two very distinct-looking breeds can somehow still shine through. Her features are so gorgeous that she's a real, true beauty.

Social media user @tootsiedrama shared a video of their stunning dog, Tootsie, a mix of two very beloved pups that we don't often see combined. She's a stunning half Golden Retriever and half Bernese Mountain Dog, and somehow she has all the features of a Golden while in the coat of a Berner—she oozes charm.

In the comments, thousands of people left messages about how stunning this pup is, and they had some words to share.

One person wrote, "I like how anything mixed with a Golden just looks like a Golden format with different color palettes."

Another shared, "I just know she's the biggest, BIGGEST BABY ever just from those eyes."

Someone else added, "It looks like a Golden Retriever was trying to cosplay a Bernese Mountain Dog and painted himself."

Other comments included, "Gorgeous," "OMG, this is the perfect dodgie," "I love dog eyebrows so much, they are so cute," and "Two of my favorite dogs."

Both Golden Retrievers and Bernese Mountain Dogs Have Kind Personalities

Toostie, the mixed-breed dog, is such a sweet charmer; it's easy to understand why so many people have fallen in love with her looks and personality. And all that makes sense because both the Golden Retriever and Bernese Mountain Dog are known for being true charmers, according to experts.

The American Kennel Club says Golden Retrievers are "intelligent, friendly, [and] devoted," while the Bernese Mountain Dogs are considered "good-natured, calm, [and] strong." The Golden is part of the "sporting group," which is said to be "well-rounded," and the Bernese Mountain Dog is from the "working group," which is "strong, watchful, and alert." These are much-loved qualities in a pet, so it makes a lot of sense that when combined—called the Golden Mountain Dog—they're so loved.

Wag! explains that the Golden Mountain Dog is usually black or brown and has a thick coat that needs grooming to stay shiny and untangled. These pups have a "reputation for being gentle giants," and they love to make their families happy. Add in their intelligence, easygoing attitude, and love of work and tasks, and they're a dream to add to the family.

And we believe that fully when we watch Toostie's videos!

Massive, Rare 'Stop Sale' Issued for Popular Cat Food Due to Serious Health Risks

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 11:00am

When we're picking out our pet food brand, most of the time, we're picking out the food they're going to eat for the rest of their lives. We want to make good, healthy choices: the better the food we choose, the happier they'll be. For many, they want to go with raw food.

Right now, there's a massive recall and "stop sale" issued for one of the most popular raw cat food brands on the market: Go Raw L.L.C.'s Quest Cat Food. Specifically, there's a recall on the Frozen Raw Cat Food: Chicken Diet.

Back in February, GO Raw issued a voluntary recall for some of their freeze-dried products, but has now expanded the recall and included two lots of their Raw Cat Food: Chicken Diet. The affected lots (including the initially recalled product) are:

  1. Quest Cat Food Freeze Dried Chicken Recipe:
    Lot #C25288 Best By 10/15/27
  2. Quest Cat Food Frozen Raw Cat Food (Chicken Diet), 2LB Bag:
Lot Code: MCC25321 UPC: 6-91730-17104-9 Best By: 5/17/27
  3. Quest Cat Food Frozen Raw Cat Food (Chicken Diet), 2LB Bag:
Lot Code: MCD25350 UPC: 6-91730-17104-9 Best By: 6/16/27

The products are being recalled due to having low levels of the essential thiamine (Vitamin B1). Affected bags of food were sold in retail stores across 21 states, and the bags are all the same: beige plastic with a zip-lock and a purple stripe. If you have a bag, you'll be able to find the lot information and best-by date on the front of the bag.

GO Raw L.L.C. has ordered a stop-sale of all Quest products while they investigate the issue further and address it. For now, consumers who purchased affected bags should return them to retailers for a refund or contact the company if they ordered from them directly.

Vitamin B1 Deficiency In Cats

The biggest danger with GO Raw's Quest Cat Food is that the food is deficient in thiamine, more commonly known as Vitamin B1. It's essential for cats, and going without it long-term could potentially lead to:

  • Seizures.
  • Ventral neck flexion, or neck-curling.
  • Weight loss.
  • Lethargy.
  • In extreme cases, death.

If you have been feeding your cat affected food, contact your vet: they will be able to diagnose based on the symptoms or via bloodwork and draft a treatment plan to help get them back on track!

This Sleepy Kitty Takes the Biggest Yawns You've Ever Seen, and It's Adorable

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 10:48am

There's a moment, somewhere between sleep and wakefulness, when a kitten opens its mouth in a yawn so complete it looks like it might turn itself inside out. The whole face reorganizes. The eyes squeeze shut. The tiny pink tongue curls.

That moment might last just a few seconds, yet, somehow, it's the most adorable thing you've seen all day.

One Reddit user recently shared a video of their kittens waking up from a nap, and what follows is a sequence of yawns so expressive, so physically committed, that viewers couldn't stop watching.

Tiny Yawns
by u/LCCheerio in aww

The moment one yawn ends, you are eagerly waiting for the next one, and your patience gets rewarded.

Commenters loved seeing this tiny kitty's big yawns, writing, “It's tiring being so little. Everything is so far away!” and “Aww what a tired baby.”

Watching a kitten mid-yawn is something that can make you stop scrolling and smile. The mouth opens wider than seems physically possible for something that small. The jaw drops. The tongue stretches into a pointed curl. Whiskers fan forward. For a brief moment, the whole kitten is just yawn, nothing else.

It is so compelling to watch. There's no performance here. Just a small animal doing something with unintentional grace.

What makes it look so dramatic on a small face is proportion. A kitten's mouth, relative to its head, opens to roughly the same angle as an adult cat's. But on something that fits in your palm, that same gape looks almost cartoonish. The anatomy is identical, but the effect is completely different.

Why Do Kittens Yawn?

Yawning in kittens works much like it does in humans, but there are a few extra layers.

First, it helps regulate oxygen and wakefulness. Kittens cycle quickly between sleep and activity, so yawning helps their bodies adjust.

Second, it’s tied to brain development. Young animals spend a lot of time sleeping because their brains are growing rapidly. Yawning often appears during these transitions between sleep stages.

Do Kittens Stop Yawning?

No, kittens never completely stop yawning and continue to do so through adulthood. Yawning is a normal, involuntary behavior that continues through adulthood. Cats use yawning to signal relaxation or boredom, or to wake themselves up.

Think of it like humans. When we wake up, we stretch and yawn to transition between the sleep stage of the day and wakefulness, and it is the same with cats. But as this video shows, when tiny baby kittens do it, it's way cuter.

Tiny Foster Kittens All Born With One Missing Foot Are Stealing Hearts Everywhere

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 10:10am

Litters of puppies and kittens are sometimes born with health issues. One fur baby or all siblings may be affected by a genetic disorder. Sometimes it's easy to trace the source of the complication, while other situations aren't as clear.

These four black-and-white kitten siblings were all born without one foot. A foster mom is now tending to these pretty kitties and making sure they get lots of love.

The foster mom picked up each kitchen in the TikTok from @emiliexfosters to show how they were all missing their back left foot. The litter includes two boys and two girls, who were all letting out plenty of sweet little "meows".

While the foster mom didn't have a specific reason for the abnormality, she concluded it may be from an incident during the mama cat's pregnancy rather than a genetic disorder.

"We don't know what happened, but the likely scenario is that they got tangled in the umbilical cord," the onscreen text explained, adding, "Unfortunately, they were brought to the shelter without a mom."

The adorable kittens appeared perfectly content and happy as they snuggled with and piled on top of each other. None of them seemed to notice anything was missing, especially since they had each other.

Common Genetic Disorders in Cats

There's a strong focus on DNA in pets in recent years, resulting in some significant genetic discoveries. Cats seem prone to certain genetic disorders, including:

Related: Mother Maine Coon Cat's Cuddle Session With 3-Week Old Kittens Will Make You Go 'Aww!'

  • Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease — Symptoms include straining to urinate, urinating small amounts frequently, painful urination and urinating outside the litter box.
  • Polycystic Kidney Disease — Mostly found in Persians and Himalayans due to a defective gene found at a high frequency in these breeds.
  • Heart Disease — Specifically, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, caused by genetic mutations in Maine Coon and Ragdoll cats.
  • Manx Syndrome — Occurs mostly in Manx cats but can happen with other breeds, where they are born with extremely short or absent tails.
  • Deafness — Often results from the inheritance of an abnormal gene, called "W” by feline geneticists.
  • Blindness — Specifically, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), is known to have a genetic cause in some cats and usually occurs later in life.

With early intervention and proper veterinary care, cats afflicted with these disorders can live long and productive lives.

These little kittens already have a wonderful head start thanks to their loving foster mom, who promises in the onscreen text, "You're safe now, babies."

Tripod Cat Picks Fight With Sister Using Phantom Limb and We Can't Stop Laughing

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:55am

Some cats pick fights, and then there are cats who invent entirely new ways to pick fights. A gray tripod cat in the following video is doing exactly that, squaring up with her Tuxedo sister from across the bed and fully committing to a battle strategy that involves… a limb that isn't even there.

In the clip, the gray kitty leans forward with intense focus, moving her whole body like she's delivering a series of very serious slaps, despite the fact that the limb in question is not actually there. She knows exactly what she is doing, and in her mind, she is absolutely landing every single hit.

@bunnythetripodcat

♬ I Do Whatever The Fuck I Want - Nick Hustles

TikTok user @bunnythetripodcat shared the hilariously adorable video, and those in the comments immediately recognized this three-legged baddie for the main character she is.

“A little imaginary skippity pat-pat,” one person wrote, which honestly deserves to be added to the official cat vocabulary.

Related: Precious Tripod Dog Refuses To Eat Until She Gets a Kiss

“Older sister felt every bit of those phantom skippity pats, too,” another added, and you know what, she probably did. The energy alone was enough.

“Bless her bad a*s heart,” someone said, which feels accurate. This is bold behavior.

One commenter pointed out, “She was so satisfied with those pats she laid back like the reigning queen,” and that might be the best part. The confidence does not end with the “fight.” It carries all the way through the victory lap.

“The confidence and seriousness of those skippity pats-pats are epic!” another wrote, and yes. There is no irony here. She means it.

And then, of course: “Once a baddie, always a baddie,” followed by, “This is the confidence us queens should all be striving for.”

Honestly, I agree. If my Maine Coon cat ever tried this, he would knock himself over mid- swing and then pretend it never happened. This cat, meanwhile, delivered a full smackdown and stuck the landing.

Five Reasons To Adopt a Tripod Cat Tripod Tabby cat standing.

Image Via: Ferda Demir/Shutterstock

First, they adapt incredibly well. Most tripod cats learn to move, jump, and play just like any other cat, often within a surprisingly short amount of time. They figure it out, and then they carry on like nothing ever happened.

Second, they tend to be incredibly resilient. Whatever they have been through, they come out the other side with this very specific mix of toughness and sweetness that is hard to explain until you see it.

Third, they are just as playful as any other cat. As this video clearly proves, they will still chase, pounce, and yes, even pick fights using creative techniques that no one else could possibly invent.

Fourth, they often form strong bonds with their people. There is something about their journey that makes them especially affectionate and connected.

And finally, they deserve their happily ever after just like any kitty, and many times, these precious cats are overlooked in favor of their four-legged counterparts at animal shelters. If you are looking to add a cat to your home, please consider giving a tripod kitty a chance.

Gorgeous Maine Coon Answers Mom’s Every Question Like a Tiny Human

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:20am

Most pet parents have talked to their animals in their own way. They may use a funny voice or even funny words, and of course, all the nicknames for their beloved canine or feline companions.

The best, though, is when our pets talk back to us, and we see that here with a beautiful Maine Coon cat who is literally having a full-on conversation with her mom.

In the video from the account @chakacoon, this Tabby-patterned Maine Coon could not be more talkative as her mom asks her question after question, and she politely answers.

"What do you want?" Meow. "Whatcha doing?" Meow. "You want to go to bed?" Meow. "You just want to cuddle?" Meow. "Where were you today?" Meow. "Were you outside?" Meow.
"You weren't?" Meow.

Each meow was distinctively different, like she understood what Mom was saying and answered accordingly.

Some couples don't have conversations this long and thorough!

The Maine Coon's mom also noted in the captions that she was very engaged with eye contact during the conversation. "It’s not the talking cat, it’s the eye contact for me..." she wrote.

@chakacoon

It’s not the talking cat, it’s the eye contact for me.. #mainecoon #funnycats

♬ original sound - ChakaCoon

Some of the comments on the video included, "I love a chatty cat. We just be talking for hours, LOL" and "Sounds like she's saying, Mom."

One person also noted that because of their large size, she always expects Maine Coons to roar instead of meow, but clearly, as we see in this video, they meow.

Do Cats Really Talk to Humans?

When we see videos like this one and others that are similar, where kitties even mimic the sounds of their humans, we have to ask if cats do understand language?

Well, it is complicated.

According to a study called "Meowsic," launched in 2016 by Lund and Linköping universities in Sweden that looked at how cats communicate with people, it was found that "adult cats only meow to humans and not to each other, most likely because their mothers stopped responding once they were weaned off [their] milk," according to The Science Explorer.

The study also found that humans tend to speak in the same way to cats as they do to small children.

They speak in a higher-than-average pitch and in a sing-song tone.

Spoiled German Shepherd Gets a 20-Minute Morning Massage, and It’s Hilarious

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:48am

Life can feel unpredictable. Busy mornings, bad news, plans falling apart before noon.

But for one German shepherd, there’s one thing that never changes in his routine: his morning massage.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

Every day, without fail, he gets a full 20 minutes of slow, focused attention. And if you watch the video posted on Reddit, you can see exactly how much it means to him.

For dogs, consistency and routine are everything. Routine builds trust, reduces stress and helps dog cope with everyday issues.

For this German shepherd, the massage isn’t a luxury. It’s part of his daily rhythm. It’s the kind of calm most owners spend years trying to create.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

Many fans resonated with the post. Pet parents nowadays are trying to spend more time with their dogs, and giving a massage is a great way to do it.

Related: Wait Until You See This German Shepherd's Heartwarming Shelter Transformation

Some people commented things like, “We call our dog a bougie boy because he demands a turn when we use the massage gun” and “Best part of my girl’s day, and my day too!”

Others commented on the actual massage, saying, “Well played. And smart to include the paw massage. I waited too long on that and had trouble grooming mine” and “Demands a full body massage multiple times a day and falls asleep.”

One fan even provided some encouragement for the original poster, whose post had the caption “No matter how dumpster fire my life may be, my dog will still get his morning 20 min full body massage.” To that, the person replied, “You have a GSD. Life is far from a dumpster fire. Hope things get better for you!”

The Benefits Dogs Get From a Massage

Massage does more than just feel good to dogs. It improves circulation, which helps muscles recover, and it reduces stiffness, especially in active or large breeds like German shepherds.

It can also help lower stress hormones. Dogs that receive regular physical contact in a calm setting often show fewer signs of anxiety.

Large breeds carry significant tension in their joints and muscles. German shepherds are prone to hip dysplasia and arthritis as they age, and gentle, consistent massage may help increase blood flow to these vulnerable areas. It may also reduce muscle stiffness after a long walk.

The Importance of Bonding Time

Most of the time, bonding between pet parents and their dogs happen in ordinary moments.

Not during training sessions or big outings, but in the quiet routines. Sitting together. Walking the same route. Repeating small interactions every day.

This pet parent and their German shepherd took it a step further. Their bonding time requires attention on both sides. Dogs notice when you devote your full attention to them, and it builds trust in a way that’s hard to replicate.

We're so happy this human and German shepherd get their special one-on-one time every single day because when we slow down and spend time with our pets, everyone benefits (and who doesn't love a massage?).
