Orange Maine Coon Cat Gets Head Stuck in Box and It’s Pure Doofus Energy

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:55am

You ever watch a cat make a choice in real time and just… know it’s about to go wrong? That’s this. No hesitation, no second thoughts, just a big, fluffy orange Maine Coon committing to something he absolutely should not be doing.

The setup is simple. He’s sitting on his pet parent’s desk like a normal, dignified cat, probably trying to get into something he shouldn't be getting into. And then suddenly, he is not dignified at all because he has somehow managed to get a tiny contact lens solution box fully stuck on his head. Not near his head. Not loosely resting. On his head. Secure. Locked in.

@pinotthemainecoon

♬ Look at my son - I Green Screen Things

TikToker @pinotthemainecoon shared the clip of the big, fluffy orange menace just sitting there with the box on his head while “Dear Theodosia” from Hamilton plays in the background. And I’m sorry, but the lyric: “Look at my son, pride is not the word I’m looking for…” has never been used more appropriately.

The comments were exactly what you would expect.

“But hear me out, that tail can sweep wonders!” one person wrote, which feels like a completely separate skill set that does not help him here.

“It’s always an Orange Cat,” another added, and honestly, yes. There is a pattern. We are seeing the pattern. As a cat mom of two Orange Cats, I can cosign this.

“Music choice, chef’s kiss,” which is correct. No notes. Perfect pairing.

I keep looking at him, thinking, are you going to fix this? Are you going to learn anything from this? And the answer is obviously no. He will simply sit there, box-headed, existing, like this was the plan all along. Meatball, my big ol' orange Maine Coon boy, would absolutely do this and then scream until someone helped him, so I feel personally connected to this moment.

Orange Cat behavior” is one of those internet phrases that started as a joke and then slowly became… not a joke. It refers to the very specific, often chaotic, sometimes deeply questionable decision-making that seems to show up again and again in Orange Cats.

While there is no scientific evidence that coat color affects personality, Orange Cats have gained a reputation for being extra goofy, bold, and prone to situations like this one. Getting stuck, knocking things over, making strange choices, and fully committing to them without hesitation.

They also tend to be incredibly affectionate and social, which makes the chaos easier to forgive. You get the nonsense, but you also get a kitty who wants to be involved in everything you’re doing.

So, no, Orange Cats are not actually wired differently. But also… explain this.

Golden Retriever Poses for Photo With Strangers Like He's the Main Character

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 11:20am

Some dogs meet strangers.

Joey hosts them.

In this video, Joey, the Golden Retriever, is sitting in front of a giant group of people, like he was booked for the event, approved the lighting, and is now waiting for everyone else to catch up. He looks completely at home, totally unbothered, and weirdly experienced at being adored by a crowd.

♬ original sound - ✆𝐐𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𖦤 - αєяιє υɢн

Then the caption makes it even better: “Here is my dog posing for a photo with a group of strangers he just met.”

Just met.

Which means Joey did not slowly warm up to these people. He did not cautiously sniff around and decide they seemed fine. He saw a large group of unfamiliar humans and apparently thought, yes, this is my fan base now.

And honestly? Fair.

He is not off to the side. He is not awkwardly in the frame by accident. He is seated like the main attraction, as if everyone else in the photo is lucky to be included in his press materials. The confidence is absurd. The social ease is unreal. Joey looks like the kind of dog who would sign a headshot with a paw print and keep moving.

One of the comments says, “My dog was more popular than me, people used to visit my house to spend time with the dog.🤣” and that feels extremely possible here. Another says, “He knows he’s the star of the show 🌟” and yes, that is exactly the issue. Joey absolutely knows.

He has that Golden superpower of making strangers feel like old friends in about 4 seconds. Some pups are friendly. Joey is politically gifted. He could probably cut a ribbon at a grocery store opening and have the whole town emotional by lunchtime.

It is not just a dog in a funny situation. It is a dog with outrageous charisma. Joey is giving celebrity meet-and-greet energy. He is giving beloved mayor. He is giving the one guy at the party who somehow knows everybody and still has time to look amazing in photos.

Meanwhile, my dog Lola would have handled this very differently. She would have barked at the group, barked at the camera, barked at the idea of group photography as a concept. We are working on it. So yes, Joey’s effortless “everyone loves me because obviously” energy is especially impressive from where I'm sitting.

He is not just in the picture.

He is the reason there is a picture.

Some Dogs Really Are Social Butterflies

Joey is hilarious, but he is also a good reminder that some dogs genuinely enjoy meeting new people when those experiences stay positive and low-pressure. Calm exposure, rewarding relaxed behavior, and letting dogs approach at their own pace can build confidence over time. PetMD has a helpful guide on how to socialize a puppy, and a lot of the same basics apply to helping pups feel good around new people and busy environments.

Honestly, Joey sat down in front of those strangers like he was about to ask who was handling his merch table.

Orange Cat's Unbothered Attitude While Being Attacked by Mockingbird Is Such a Vibe

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 10:10am

Some people have a gift for keeping calm and letting outside annoyances bounce right off. Whether it's stressful traffic, a co-worker who pushes your buttons, or an unrelenting sound that doesn't go away, some are surprisingly unfazed by situations others would find maddening.

This orange cat is the epitome of self-composed despite being pecked at by a Mockingbird and it's quite impressive.

@marvenus2424

This bird is always bothering my cat.. Im noot sure if he wants to play or he just hates him😅😂 #cat #catsoftiktok #catlover #cattok #fyp

♬ Sneaky Shenanigans - Solis

The pretty kitty was taking a stroll outside, just minding his own business in the TikTok from @marvenus2424. With each step he took, an aggressive Mockingbird intermittently swooped down and purposely bumped into him. Apparently, this was not the first time the bird had a bone to pick with the orange feline.

"This bird is always bothering my cat," the caption explained. "I'm not sure if he wants to play or he just hates them."

Despite the mockingbird's persistent pecks, the feline was completely unfazed. He didn't speed up his pace or even turn around to give an angry look. The fur baby took his time with each step and paid no attention to the pesky bird.

Followers were amazed at how relaxed and unruffled the orange cat was during the contentious interaction and wanted his secret to serenity.

"I want to be as unbothered as your cat," one remarked.

"Your cat has the patience of a saint! That bird is such a bully," another pointed out.

"The cat is amazing for not caring," a fan posted.

"I seriously wish I could be this unbothered by life's issues," someone shared.

Mockingbirds Are Very Territorial

The bird may have been in attack mode if he felt his territory was being invaded. Although Mockingbirds can exhibit some aggressive tendencies, they also have some interesting qualities including:

Related: Orange Cat Physically Refuses to Let Dad Go to Work and It's a Little Scary

  • Mockingbirds can imitate over 200 different bird songs.
  • They often repeat phrases multiple times before trying a new sound.
  • Mockingbirds can sing day and night, especially during breeding season.
  • They are vigilant defenders of their territories and will confront intruders without hesitation.
  • Mockingbirds can live for over 10 years.

Maybe one day this Mockingbird will take the time to introduce himself in a friendlier manner. In the meantime, this cat doesn't seem to care either way.

One of the World's Rarest Dog Breeds Looks Just Like a Wise Old Fisherman

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:55am

All dogs are cute; some are goofy, and others look like they've lived more than 100 lives in the span of ours. With their expressive faces and shaggy coats, some breeds have a way of looking almost human in the eyes, with a full old-man aura about them in the best ways possible.

That's the vibe we get in this video, where a rare dog is serving serious "wise old fisherman" energy. It's probably not his intention or what he's going for, but it absolutely stands out like that. Take a look at this pup!

@kraken.otterhound

♬ original sound - Short Life Soles

TikTok user @kraken.otterhound shared a video of a stunning dog named Kraken, who, in the best way, looks like an old human fisherman playing outside with his older sister. As he's running out, Kraken's older sister "sneak attacks" him, and it's the cutest thing.

If you're looking at Kraken and curious about what breed he is, what makes those cute features, like the human-like eyes and interesting coat texture, it's because he's an Otterhound, a rare breed we don't see a lot of.

Related: Rare Otterhound Has the Time of His Life With a Single Toy

It turns out that the Otterhound is known as "one of the rarest breeds in the world," and that has nothing to do with how cute this breed is. Watching Kraken have the best time with his sister, running and jumping, he looks like he has the most fun personality, and we love that!

Kraken's sister isn't an Otterhound like he is; instead, she's a Northern Inuit, which, surprisingly, is also a rare breed usually found only in the United Kingdom. She more closely resembles a German Shepherd-Siberian Husky mix. But another fun fact about the Northern Inuit is that they're the breed used to portray the Dire Wolves in Game of Thrones.

Interesting Facts About the Otterhound

Kraken is such a beautiful dog, and we can definitely see his silly personality shine in this video, too, which is pretty common for this breed.

The American Kennel Club describes the Otterhound as being "even-tempered, amiable, and boisterous," and they can grow to weigh up to 115 pounds, so they're big pups. They're very affectionate, though, landing at the top of the scale and are in the middle for being good with kids and other dogs.

These used to be significantly more common when hunting otters was a thing way back in medieval England, when they were a popular breed for hunting. They're great swimmers and have all the features that make swimming easy for them, including a dense coat and webbed feet.

We think Kraken is a really stunning dog, and even though his breed's not that popular, being one of the rarest dog breeds is cool, too, and he's an unforgettable one.

'Handsome' Cane Corso Acts Like a Human Ordering Coffee at the Counter

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:49am

Cane Corsos may be known for their massive size and imposing presence, but this dog breed is fiercely loyal. They make excellent guard dogs and are known to be icy with strangers. A social media-famous Cane Corso named Dave is defying the breed’s reputation.

Described by his humans as a dog who goes “literally everywhere,” Dave recently hoisted himself on top of a coffee counter, as if he’s a human saddling up to order his favorite latte. Dave may be a big dog, but he’s proving Cane Corsos are actually pussycats at heart, judging by the way he interacts with his buddies.

In the video, with a charming Austin Powers-esque soundtrack setting the tone, Dave can be seen trotting through a furniture showroom toward the business’ coffee bar. The baristas eagerly await Dave’s arrival—he’s clearly a regular—before the dog hurls himself up to the bar and lays his head down on the countertop, as if he’s ready to order a coffee, or maybe something stronger.

Dave hangs out for a while as he receives tickles and cuddles, leaving one to hope there’s a pup cup in his very near future.

“He is so handsome,” gushed one adoring viewer.

“This dog is just perfect,” added another, echoing the sentiments of many.

Another commenter shared, “He is so cute.”

@bigassdavid

♬ original sound - BigAssDave

Cute and beautiful, indeed, which might be part of the reason the Cane Corso is a breed rising in popularity. The American Kennel Club recently released its annual list of most popular dog breeds, and the Cane Corso jumped from No. 14 in 2024 to No. 11 in 2025. What dog lands at No. 1, you ask? The French Bulldog is the most popular dog breed in the U.S. for the fourth year in a row, overtaking the ever-popular Labrador Retriever, which reigned supreme prior to the French Bulldog and now sits at No. 2.

Cane Corsos like Dave are growing in popularity, in part because of viral social media videos like the one shared above. Though it’s safe to assume that if Dave keeps ordering coffee this way, and his humans keep sharing it, this breed has nowhere to go but up.

Maine Coon Cat Who Sounds Just Like a Puppy Will Make You Do a Double Take

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 9:20am

If you've ever had a cat, you're aware of the funny noises that come out of them when they're feeling a little feisty. They have a wide chatter, trill, purr, and yowl vocabulary, and they're not afraid to use it!

It's especially true in large cat breeds, which is where Barny, the Maine Coon, comes in. This funny feline's special talents include showing off his stunning good looks and doing his best puppy impersonation. If you close your eyes, you'll think he is actually a dog!

@mainecoon.barny

As one fan commented, Barny is "so cute when he's angry!" The "no touch" chatter is big in the cat world, but Barny's puppy sound is a new one! Many wondered if he was raised by dogs, but the answer is a resounding no; however, his impression is still spot-on.

Being the majestic Maine Coon he is, Barny doesn't have to do much of anything except exist, and we're all obsessed. His bio says he's a Maine Coon and Sapphire Ragdoll mix, which basically means he's the hostess with the mostest and sparkling emerald eyes to boot.

It's his meek and mild vocalizations that take him over the top from a basic kitty to so very extra (in the best way possible). They seem to be more regular during playtime.

Despite being a cat (obviously), Barny and others in his breed have a lot of things in common with pups. Maine Coons are beloved for their social, docile, and easygoing temperaments, which allow them to get along with just about anyone—specifically dogs!

Combined with a quiet confidence, curiosity about all things water and faucets, and a love of playing a game of fetch, Maine Coons really are a dog's best friend. It doesn't hurt that this sweet fella has the added genetics of Ragdoll in his blood, because they're equally as cool, calm, and collected in the presence of other pets.

It sounds like Barny hit the DNA lottery! He may not actually be a puppy, but should one ever join the family, he'd fit right in, showing off his identical dog sounds and adorable trills!

Unlicensed Baby Goat Massage Therapists Have Us in Stitches

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 7:12am

I've heard of goat yoga, but goat massage is a new one for me – and for them, too, apparently. In this hilarious TikTok, two baby goats are filmed happily climbing all over one of their humans, providing the farmer inadvertently – and unskillfully – with a massage-ish experience.

The caption reads: "Just trying to treat my partner with a romantic night in..." which is pretty much the opposite vibe of this DIY goat spa.

Despite these baby therapists being absolutely adorable, however, the client admits, "They are not well-trained." Guess a glowing Yelp review is out of the question, though I personally would still pay good money for an appointment with these two masseuses.

The client tries to work with the amateur therapists by changing positions and tolerating a lot of baby goat antics, but alas, the "luxury wellness package" wasn't luxurious, nor did it enhance wellness. I feel totally blissed out and satisfied, however, after watching this side-splitting display, and I would gladly become a repeat customer.

Baby Goats As Roommates?

Anyone seeing this video can't help but notice that this activity is happening inside the family home, with the kids climbing freely on the dining room table, etc. While this clip makes rooming with baby goats seem both fun and funny, I wondered whether it was actually possible, not to mention a good idea. The following advice from this blog post helped shed some light on the subject.

The biggest thing to understand is that goats are outdoor animals, through and through. They’re natural grazers who need constant access to vegetation and space to roam, climb, and explore. Keeping them inside takes away those essential instincts and can quickly impact their physical and mental well-being.

There are also some very practical issues. Goats are messy, difficult (read: nearly impossible) to house train, and they mark territory with urine, feces, and scent. Add in their strong natural odor, and an indoor setup becomes… less than ideal, fast.

Space and social needs matter, too. Goats are active and require room to move, plus they’re herd animals that need companionship. A single goat in a house is likely to become bored, stressed, and destructive—think counters, cabinets, and anything remotely snack-adjacent.

There are also health considerations. Goats can carry parasites and diseases that are better managed in an outdoor environment, making indoor living a risk for both animals and humans.

That said, there are exceptions. Very young, elderly, or sick goats may temporarily need indoor care for warmth, monitoring, or frequent feeding. In those cases, a clean, contained setup (like a crate or designated area) can be helpful—but it should always be short-term.

It seems the takeaway is that goats aren’t indoor pets. They thrive outside, with space to roam, other goats for company, and an environment that lets them be exactly what they are: not massage therapists.

Fluffy Goldendoodle Who 'Whisper Barks' Looks Like a Real-Life Muppet Baby

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 7:10am

Goldendoodles became popular in the 1990s and have since been a top choice for pet lovers. This hybrid of Golden Retriever and Poodle results in a sweet, loving, playful, floofy fur baby with heartwarming charm. Some Goldendoodles have wavy coats, where others are a mound of curls, Either way, their fluffy fur gives them a sort of stuffed animal vibe.

Mila the Goldendoodle is a perfect example of that plushie look that resembles a storybook character rather than a canine.

♬ Frolic (Theme from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" TV Show) - Luciano Michelini

In the TikTok from @milathegirlydoodle, Mila was lying on the ground reading a book — a Colleen Hoover novel, to be precise — and appeared to be in a library. Whether it was a public place or a room at home, there is apparently a rule to be quiet while reading.

The precious pooch let out a bark and was reprimanded by her parents, with her dad giving her a firm "no" command. Mila stared at them with a look of surprise on her face. Then, she realized she wasn't supposed to make any noise, but still wanted to communicate.

Mila opened her mouth to vocalize a tiny "whisper bark" to get her point across while keeping the rule of silence. Barely any sound came out but she seemed satisfied with her statement.

"When you're not allowed to bark inside, you learn how to 'whisper bark'," the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, "In this house, we speak quietly.

While the nonverbal bark was over-the-top adorable, Mila's Muppet-like appearance was more noticeable than anything else.

'The Muppets' Should Give Mila a Call

Mila's little face was practically hidden behind soft and shaggy tufts of fur that stuck out in all directions. Her shiny, round eyes looked like they were straight from a stuffed animal. The pup's floppy ears seemed to be a part of her head, making it hard to tell where her ears ended and her fur began.

The canine cutie had a childlike innocence that would probably put her in the Muppet Baby category rather than an adult like Kermit or Miss Piggy. The overall effect was irresistible cuteness.

Followers noted the resemblance and commented on Mila's toy-like persona.

"She looks like she could be on the set of The Muppets," one pointed out.

"Omg she looks like a stuffed animal," someone remarked.

"Your dog looks like a person dressed as a doggie. Too cute," another noted.

"She looks like a Muppet!" a follower posted.

Mila's got the cuteness factor in spades and the smarts to know when to "whisper bark". Maybe the Muppets should consider making room for another member of the gang.

These Simple Everyday Habits Make Dogs Feel Happy, Vets Say

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 6:10am

Having a dog means making a commitment to supporting your pet’s happiness. While you probably do everything you can to make sure your dog is happy and healthy, it’s fair to wonder if there’s more you can be doing. After all, your devoted companion is part of your family—and small changes to your daily routine can make a big difference in their well-being and behavior. To learn about some simple everyday habits that can make dogs feel happy, keep reading. That way, you can start including these easy, vet-recommended dog care tips in your pup’s life.

While every pet is an individual, it's tough to say that all canines will enjoy certain activities. However, vets say that there are a few easy ways you can improve your furry friend's life that pet owners sometimes overlook—and they’re worth trying with your pooch, if you’re not already leaning into them. “Together, these behaviors satisfy the fundamental needs of dogs in their day-to-day lives,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. The best part is, additions don’t require you to spend any extra money. “A dog’s contentment does not depend upon expensive items or complex processes,” Warner explains. “Instead, it often results from a variety of small, consistent activities that allow your pup to feel secure, stimulated and connected to those around them.”

From exercise options to sniff walks to how you interact with your pet, these habits can go a long way with your pup. Here’s why these vet-approved dog wellness tips work—and how to put them into practice starting today. Trust us, your pup will thank you!

These simple vet-approved dog tips can not only boost your dog's happiness, but they can improve their mood, and support their mental health as well.

Devoted one-on-one time

How do you make your dog happy? Even though there’s a lot going on in your life, according to vets, taking the time to just be with your pet and enjoy their company can go a long way toward making them happier. “Many dogs appreciate human interaction and it’s one of the activities they look forward to the most,” Warner says. “Even just a short playtime can make them feel happy and secure.”

"Dogs are social animals, and their bond with you means everything to them," explains Nita Vasudevan, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance. “That focused attention, whether it’s petting, talking to them or just sitting together, helps reduce their anxiety and builds a sense of security. In veterinary medicine, we can see a lot of behavior issues improve simply when dogs get more intentional time with their people.”

A consistent routine

One of the simplest ways to make your dog even happier comes down to their routine. Knowing what’s next is important for dogs, according to Vasudevan. “Dogs thrive on predictability,” she says. “Feeding, walks and bedtime happening around the same time each day helps them feel safe because they know what to expect.”

When routines are irregular, she says a dog will show more stress-related behaviors like whining, pacing or even gastrointestinal issues. Warner agrees. “When there’s routine, they won’t be anxious figuring out what’s next or coming for them in the next few minutes,” she says.

Related: 8 Signs Your Pup Is Totally Smitten With You, According to Experts

Sniffing

One habit that improves dog behavior happens to do with their nose. In fact, sniffari walks are popular for the reason that they bring joy to your dog. “Sniffing is mental enrichment,” Vasudevan says. “Letting them stop and smell on walks engages their brain in a really important way.” In fact, she says that a short walk with lots of sniffing can be more satisfying to your pup than a longer, rushed walk. “Just make sure there are no potential hazards in the area,” Warner says.

Dedicated exercise time

Another habit that can make your dog feel happy? Veterinarians recommend getting them proper exercise! While taking your dog along on your walks is great, exercise focused on your pup’s needs is especially good for your pet’s mood, according to Warner. “Exercise that is specifically designed for the pet is essential for their happiness as well,” she says. “Physical exercise is essential for their health and well-being and allows them to use up excess energy.”

Warner notes it can also help to eliminate destructive behavior and Vasudevan agrees. “Many behavioral concerns, like destructive chewing or hyperactivity, are often tied to not getting enough exercise and stimulation,” she says.

Constant positive reinforcement training

One more simple way to bring joy into your dog's life comes down to how you speak to them. That's why positive reinforcement is huge with training. “Training isn’t just about obedience. When dogs are rewarded for good behavior, they learn faster and feel more secure because they understand what’s expected of them,” Vasudevan says.

Plenty of play time

Play time allows your pet to unwind and just be a dog. “Play time forms a healthy part of the life of a pet and provides an avenue for the pet to express itself and have fun,” Warner says. “For many pets, playtime forms a major part of the source of happiness and a key part of the bond that forms between the pet and the owner.”

Play time also strengthens your relationship with your pet and gives your dog the chance to engage in natural behaviors like chasing or tugging, Vasudevan says. “Dogs that play regularly tend to be more relaxed and less prone to boredom-related issues,” she adds.

7 Signs Your Dog Thinks You’re a Good Leader

Thu, 04/09/2026 - 5:10am

You may hear about how dogs are "pack animals." They crave connection, companionship, and value strength in numbers. For years, humans thought that dogs needed to see us as the "alpha" and that we had to assert our dominance by force. However, that line of thinking missed the mark. "The days of alpha theory are long gone," shares Bridget Murphy, the CEO of Koru K9 Dog Training. "Dogs don’t see humans as 'alpha wolves' the way older training theories suggested. What they do look for is leadership—as in a good boss or parent. They want a person who will guide them, teach them, advocate for them and keep them safe." To see if your dog thinks of you that way, keep reading to learn about 7 heartwarming signs your dog thinks you're a good leader.

It's a good idea to understand the signs your dog respects and trusts you as their owner. That way, you can maintain your skills or build new ones if you need to. However, in order to do that, you have to pay attention to your dog's body language since they can't directly talk to you and let you know if you're being a good pet owner or not.

Read on to discover some of the surprising ways your dog shows affection and respect, proving that you’re in the running for “World’s Best Mom/Dad.” While they can’t hand you a trophy for being a great pet parent, they’ll reward you with lifelong love and companionship, which is much better!

How to Be a Good Leader for Your Dog

So, how can you be the best dog owner and leader to your pup? "Leadership isn’t about dominance or intimidation, "Murphy says. "It’s about providing structure, direction and stability so your dog doesn’t have to guess what’s expected, as well as to work to create a relationship based on mutual trust and respect."

Murphy adds that dogs are pros at identifying people who bring structure, guidance and consistency into their lives. "When those things are present, dogs relax because they don’t feel responsible for making decisions themselves," Murphy says. "Instead, dogs will be more confident because they know someone else is in charge. When those things are not present, dogs become anxious, fearful and will start to display behavior issues. Those issues are symptoms of the problem."

Unsure if you're a good pet parent? Scroll on. You may be surprised at how easy it is to miss some of these signs that your dog thinks you're a good leader and has a strong relationship with you.

1. They frequently check in on walks and at dog parks

Dogs love to take in the sights and sounds on walks and at the dog park—from other dogs, humans and animals who have been there. However, none of those takes precedence over knowing you're with them. In fact, one sign your dog thinks you’re a good leader is if you notice them checking in on you and making sure you are behind them.

"Dogs who view their owner as a leader naturally look back to check in," Murphy reports. "It’s their way of confirming that everything is OK and that they’re still connected to you and watching you for direction."

Murphy adds that this behavior is a major clue that your dog sees you as the "North Star."

2. They leave a high-value treat when you say "leave it"

Another sign that your dog thinks you're a good leader is when they obey your commands, especially if you say, "Leave it." Murphy says it's absolutely possible for your up to do this with careful training and consistent leadership from you.

"When a dog walks away from something valuable after hearing a cue, that shows a lot of trust and respect," Murphy says. "This means a dog believes listening to you will lead to a better outcome than grabbing the treat on their own. If your dog does that—great job."

3. They come when called in busy environments

Murphy shares that it's easier for a dog to come when called in a quiet backyard than in a loud space. However, if your furry companion is good at recall, this is a sign your dog respects you and that they view you as a great pet parent and leader.

"Any pet parent knows that recall when there are other dogs, smells and distractions— like squirrels—is much harder," she points out. "When a dog chooses to come back to you despite everything else going on, that’s a strong indicator they trust your guidance, even if they really want to chase that squirrel."

4. They let you take the lead in new situations

The world is much bigger than a dog's block and any applicable backyard. Because of that, new environments (or even new sounds or people in their current environment) may feel unsettling to them. A dog who sees you as their lifelong guide and hero will lean into that (figuratively and perhaps literally) when things feel new or off.

"In unfamiliar environments, dogs who trust their handler will often look to them for direction," Murphy points out. "Instead of rushing ahead or reacting first, they wait for cues from you before deciding how to respond. They look to you as their advocate in the world and as their human who will keep them safe."

So the next time you catch your pup behaving this way, know they are letting you know they think you are a good dog owner and they have a strong dog-owner bond wth each other.

5. Waiting calmly at doorways

Waiting calmly at a doorway is a skill that doesn’t come naturally to most dogs, because it requires impulse control and respect for dog training guidance. However, Murphy says that if your companion does this, it’s a clear sign of trust and good leadership in your relationship.

“A dog who pauses and waits at the door instead of charging out is showing impulse control, respect, and obedience,” Murphy explains. “This kind of positive dog behavior often develops when dogs learn that you control access to exciting things like walks and the outside world."

6. Soft eye contact

Learning to read your dog’s body language can reveal subtle signs that your dog sees you as a good leader. One of the most heartwarming is soft eye contact.

“Relaxed eye contact between a dog and their owner is a sign of trust, affection and connection,” Murphy explains. “It’s different from fixation, when a dog is 'locked on' to a trigger. Soft eye contact usually means the dog feels secure, comfortable, and confident with the person they’re looking at.”

7. Choosing to rest near you

Yes, dogs will show you that you are a phenomenal "head honcho" in their sleep. In fact, one of the sweetest signs your dog trusts you and sees you as a good leader is when they choose to rest or sleep near you. "Dogs who feel safe with their handler often choose to sleep or relax nearby," Murphy says. "It’s not about dependence. It’s simply that dogs gravitate toward the people they trust the most—just like we do."

Hairless Chinese Crested and Her Dog Mom Are Twinning With Huge Blue Anime Eyes

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 9:20pm

You know those videos where you’re like, “Oh, cute dog,” and then 2 seconds later you’re sitting there slightly unsettled because something is… too similar? That’s this one. This is that exact feeling.

The caption explains, “Was trying to make a video about dogs looking like their [pet parents], so she freaked us both out and proved my point,” and honestly, mission accomplished. Because the second you see them together, it’s the eyes. The huge, bright blue, almost anime-level eyes. Matching. Identical. It’s a lot.

@rollmodelspodcast

Also I promise she’s usually okay with being held like this- BUT NOT TODAY #makeup #dogs #dogsoftiktok

♬ day 1 nightcore - rv 🍰

In the clip shared on the TikTok account @rollmodelspodcast, the stunning hairless Chinese Crested Dog is being held by her mom, and the resemblance is immediate. Same eyes, same vibe, same slightly intense stare, like they both know something the rest of us don’t. It’s giving twins. It’s giving copy and paste. It’s giving… wait a second.

Related: Dogs at Day Care Meet Their Mini-Me Twins and It’s Double the Cute

Also, it’s worth checking the comments because people immediately started sharing photos of themselves looking like their own dogs, and it turned into a whole thing. Once you start noticing it, you can’t unsee it.

The comments on this one were incredible.

“I once attended a ‘dogs that look like their owner’ competition in Florida, it was the best day of my life,” which honestly sounds like an event I need tickets to immediately.

“Not you guys having the same makeup on,” which… yes. The eyeliner situation is suspicious.

“Y’all look equally stressed out by this situation,” which makes it even better. Same eyes, same emotional state.

“What a beautiful Chinese Crested Dog. Love seeing uncommon breeds!” and yes, they really are such a unique, striking breed.

“Your dog has her mother’s eyes,” which feels very literal in this case.

And finally, “Not you both wearing the same eyeliner!” which I still cannot get over.

I keep staring at them because the resemblance is just so specific. Like if Meatball and I suddenly had matching features, I would simply not recover.

Why Do Dogs Sometimes Look Like Their Human Parents? @therealflameditz

Pets looking like their owners Pt1 #fyp #dogs #viral #xyzbca #foryoupage

♬ Monkeyshine-JP - Lt FitzGibbons Men

It might sound weird, but there is actually a reason people think dogs look like their humans. Studies have shown that people are often drawn to dogs who resemble them in some way, whether it’s hair type, coloring, or even facial features.

For example, someone with long hair might subconsciously choose a dog with long ears or flowing fur. Someone with sharper features might be drawn to a pooch with a more angular face. It’s not something most people do on purpose, but it happens more often than you’d think.

There’s also the personality factor. Over time, dogs and their humans tend to mirror each other’s expressions, habits, and energy. So even if they didn’t start out looking alike, they can begin to feel alike, which somehow makes the resemblance stronger.

And then sometimes, like in this case, the universe just decides to be funny and gives you matching anime eyes. Which no one is prepared for.

Tiny Mini Horse's Adorable Gallop Is Cuteness Overload

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 8:55pm

If there's anything that can bring a little sunshine to your day, it's going to be a ridiculously cute animal doing ridiculously cute things. Puppies and kittens are one thing, and unlikely friendships between two different species are another, but there's a whole other category of happy-making pets: horses!

I'm not talking about just any horse, but a darling Miniature Horse frolicking, galloping, and zooming around the farm like it's her job!

@haylees.minis

What a sweet little baby. I just adore this little girl. ❤️ #minihorse #minihorses #tinyhorse #horse #horses

♬ All I Want is You - Barry Louis Polisar

As captioned, that really is a sweet little baby, and we adore her, too! Not a care in the world as she lets the breeze rustle through her luxurious mane. I don't know what's more precious—the fact that this party girl is a tiny version of a big, majestic Mustang, or that she's full of so much joy she can't help but move her hooves!

Related: Miniature Shetland Pony Goes Viral for 'Lip-Synching' and Everyone's Obsessed

The sweet little horse only recently came into the world on March 30, so I'd say she's crushing this growing-up thing. Born to her mama, Phantom, everyone was smitten with the pretty baby from the moment she arrived. You can just tell she's ready to take on the world!

@haylees.minis

2nd foal of the season born just a few hours ago! what a beautiful little LOUDLY MARKED buckskin pinto filly! Phantom (momma) did have a little trouble but Toni was right there to help! Welcome to the world little one! ❤️ #minhorse #minihorses #minihorsesoftiktok #horses #horse

♬ Just Sitting Belong It - Sola Grey How Big Do Miniature Horses Get?

As you can tell, the gallop gal above is small in size, and it only adds to her allure. Generally, Miniature Horses grow to be 34 to 38 inches tall at the shoulder, with most of them only reaching the 34-inch mark. Weight-wise, they're typically born around 20 pounds, but can get to 150 to 350 pounds of pure, adorable, human toddler-sized fury!

Something else about these animals that's interesting (if you're not quite horse-savvy, that's OK): Miniature Horses are proportioned like full-sized horses, which is different than ponies, who are built with shorter necks, thicker coats, and broader bodies like small, stocky horses. Likewise, ponies are more often used for driving or riding, while Mini Horses, like our princess above, are usually used for competition and/or breeding.

However you slice it, Miniature Horses are some of the greatest sources for making any bad day better. In fact, when in doubt, scroll through the many cute Mini Horse posts by @haylees.minis, and you're guaranteed to feel a whole lot happier!

Cashew the Dachshund Opens up His New Hermès Scarf and We're Jealous

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 8:20pm

There is nothing like receiving that very special little orange box from Hermès, and this applies even if you are a Dachshund.

Dachshunds appreciate the finer things in life, too!

We can definitely see that in a new video of Cashew, the blond Longhaired Dachshund, who received one of those orange boxes with the brown bow.

His mom helps him open it (since he doesn't have thumbs) and reveals a beautiful red handkerchief with a green-and-blue chain design and a little silver bow hanging off it.

His mom slips his collar into the handkerchief and wraps it around his neck.

Cashew looks like a supermodel!

His mom writes in the caption, "It's not a Birkin, but it will do." And it definitely will!

We found out in another recent video from the account that Cashew's mom brought the bandana back on a recent trip to Europe for him, along with a slew of other treats!

"I just felt like my son really needed something from Hermès Paris," she says in the video.

What a lucky boy!

We have seen our fair share of dogs in Hermès accessories, especially Dachshunds.

Though any dog can wear the iconic brand, it does seem that it looks particularly good on Dachshunds.

We saw this a few months back with the dog of influencer Audrey Peters, who wears Hermès and also got to accompany his mom to the Hermès store in Paris.

Another influencer, Serena Kerrigan, even threw her dog Pancho, of course, another Longhaired Dachshund, a Hermès-themed birthday party.

Hermès has a whole line of dog accessories, which includes beds, coats, collars, dog carriers, sweaters, bowls, leashes, and even tents.

They are definitely on the pricey end, but it is an iconic brand, and all these items could be seen as investment pieces.

Elusive Rare Cat With Huge Alien Eyes Makes Surprise Cameo on Woman's Vlog

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:55pm

Capturing a rare-breed cat in their natural habitat is a huge deal, and for wildlife biologist, Holly O'Donnell, a very cool surprise.

While filming in the Amazon Rainforest, the experienced jungle guide noticed a pair of gigantic, curious eyes staring back at her. It's a blessing we live in the time of camera phones, the internet, and social media because now, we all get to see Holly's rare find: the Margay (Leopardus wiedii)!

View this post on Instagram

This may be Holly's first Margay sighting, but it's mine, too! These small, spotted cats are sometimes called "tree ocelots" or "painted cats," and despite their stature that could get lost in the jungle's stunning scenery, you can't miss their enormous, alien-looking eyes.

These rare miniature felines reside in Central and South America, and they're classified as "near threatened" by the IUCN due to deforestation and low reproductive rates (only one, maybe two kittens every two years).

Related: Gigantic Rare Cat Looks Like a Mini Tabby Tiger

Facts About Extremely Rare Margay Cats

If this is your first time seeing a Margay, congrats! There are a lot of awesome things about these little cuties (aside from how adorable they are). They can be confused with an ocelot, though they're smaller in size and have longer tails. The biggest giveaway that it's a Margay is those large, striking eyes!

You might consider Margays as the cat version of monkeys because of their sharp claws, grippy hands and feet, and prehensile tails used to show off their incredible climbing skills. They're arboreal, which means they live primarily in the trees, taking up space between branches and scaling forest canopies and trunks—also like monkeys!

Here's a view of the fierce predator (via wildlife vet @dr.evanantin) doing silly, goofy cat things!

View this post on Instagram

These cool kitties are generally solitary and can navigate vertical habitats like Olympic gymnasts. Their talent for descending down trees headfirst is all thanks to their 180-degree rotating ankles, and should you ever catch them in action, you will be mesmerized!

Actual population numbers aren't known, but their low production rate alone makes them unique, hard-to-find cats. The fact that Holly not only spotted one of these felines is pretty special. That video will be hard to beat—even in the Amazon!

Sweet Golden Retriever Just Wants to Watch the Birds While Holding His Mama’s Hand

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 7:20pm

Something happens when you reach a certain age, when suddenly, birds become very interesting. Like deeply interesting. You’re standing at the window going, “Wait, what kind is that?” like you’ve always been this person. And apparently, this Golden Retriever named Henry is right there with me. Grandma hobbies. Bird-watching. Holding hands. I would not be surprised if he also enjoys gardening and embroidery.

The caption says, “He’s been bird watchin' and holdin' my hand since he was a baby,” and honestly, that tracks because the second his mom asks if he wants to go watch the birds and hold hands, he locks in. Full attention. Head tilt activated. Processing every word like this is the most important conversation of his life.

@goldboyhenry

He’s been bird watchin and holdin my hand since he was a baby. 🕊️🤝💛 #goldenretriever #cute #birdwatchin #dogsoftiktok #fypシ

♬ original sound - Henry

The video, shared by @goldboyhenry, shows sweet Henry following her to the window, settling in, and gently handing her his paw, like yes, this is part of the experience. We will be doing this together. And then when he spots a bird, he gets so excited he starts pointing like he’s personally responsible for identifying it.

Related: Golden Retriever With Flowers in Her Fur Is Living Her Springtime Princess Era

The people in the comments were completely in love.

“Look at the birds AND hold mommy’s hand??? What a day!!” one person wrote, and honestly, dream life.

“The way he started aggressively pointing to the birds!” which is my favorite part. Sir, we see it.

“The head tilt is so cute,” and yes. That head tilt could fix things.

“He knows exactly what you’re asking… the comprehension. I love Henry,” which you can absolutely see. He gets it.

“The hand holding is a critical step in every Golden experience,” which feels like science.

“I’d quit my job and hold hands and watch birds all day,” same.

“A hobby shared is a hobby enjoyed twice as much,” which is way too wholesome for the internet, but I accept it.

I keep thinking about my own pets. Our dog Kingston would lose interest immediately. Meatball (My giant cat) would block the entire window and ruin the vibe with his eck-eck-eck noises. Henry? Henry is emotionally invested in both the birds and the hand-holding.

Why Do Dogs Love Watching Birds So Much? Dog watching birds.

Image via sophiecat/Shutterstock

Dogs love watching birds because it taps right into their natural instincts. Even the sweetest, gentlest pups still have a built-in prey drive, which means movement immediately grabs their attention. Birds are fast, unpredictable, and constantly hopping or flying around, which makes them basically the most entertaining thing on earth from a dog’s perspective.

There is also the stimulation factor. Watching birds gives dogs something to focus on without actually having to chase anything, which is kind of the perfect setup. It keeps their brain engaged, their eyes tracking, and their body alert, all while staying safely inside. It's like live TV, but better.

For some dogs, especially intelligent and observant breeds like Golden Retrievers, it can even become a little routine. They learn where birds tend to show up, start recognizing the patterns, and suddenly, bird-watching becomes a full-on hobby. Which, honestly, same.

And then there is the emotional side. If they are doing it next to their favorite person, maybe holding a hand, maybe just sitting close, it becomes more than just watching birds. It is a shared moment. Calm, focused, a little exciting, and very comforting all at once.

Dog Siblings Hear Xbox Turn off and Immediately File for Bedtime

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 6:10pm

Dogs thrive on routine and repetition. They take their cues from certain sounds, commands, and signals. Whenever I pick up my dogs' leashes, they immediately head to the door for their walk. The second they see me take a step toward their food bowls, they start jumping up and down for dinner. It's like they've been programmed without me even saying a word.

These three dogs are obviously used to their dad playing video games and know when it's time for lights out.

@bconner88

Xbox trained them well!

♬ original sound - Brandon Conner

In the TikTok from @bconner88, three dogs were just chilling with their dad as he played some games on his Xbox. The blue light from the television glowed in the room as the music played in the background.

After a few moments, their dad turned off the TV. The sudden silence prompted the three canine cuties to get out of their cozy positions and head to the bedroom. Not a word was spoken — the trio of fur babies automatically knew it was time to hit the hay. They even lined up in formation according to size, with the smallest leading the way and the largest bringing up the rear.

"Xbox trained them well!" the caption noted.

Followers got a kick out of the dogs' bedtime routine and were impressed with their orderly exit.

"I love that they leave in order of smallest to largest," someone pointed out.

"The two big dogs looked at each other like 'our shift is over?'" another joked.

"Dogs know that sound means its bedtime," one posted.

"The Pavlov training is real," a follower remarked.

Classical Conditioning Also Applies to Humans

Most people have heard of Pavlov's response, which is also known as classical conditioning or respondent conditioning. This learning process was initially proposed by Russian psychologist Ivan Pavlov in the early 1900s, where an individual develops an involuntary response to a given stimulus.

We see these responses in our dogs, yet there are also numerous examples with people as well. Examples of Pavlovian responses include fear conditioning, morning routines, and appetite conditioning.

Whatever response you can call it, these three dogs have their nightly routine down to a science.

Guide Dog Detects Life-Threatening Issue He Wasn’t Trained to Spot—and It Saved His Human’s Life

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 4:55pm

We often think of service dogs in terms of the specific tasks they’re trained to perform—guiding, retrieving or alerting. But every so often, a dog does something completely outside of that training that leaves everyone wondering how they knew what to do. That’s exactly what happened in Luis Perez’s case.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

A Life-Changing Partnership Luis Perez with his guide dog, Jerry.

Courtesy of Dogs Inc

For Luis, life hasn’t been easy. Now 45, he has spent much of his life managing multiple sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune condition that has impacted his mobility, vision and overall health. He lost his sight in his early 20s and now receives regular plasma infusions to help manage his MS symptoms.

Like many people facing chronic illness, Luis has also experienced periods of anxiety, depression and isolation.

Hoping to regain some independence and confidence, he turned to a non-profit organization called Dogs Inc, which breeds, raises and trains guide and service dogs. In September 2024, Dogs Inc matched Luis with Jerry, a black Labrador.

Jerry was trained as a guide dog to help Luis navigate the world safely and live more independently. But it didn’t take long for him to go above and beyond the call of duty.

Related: Service Dog-in-Training's Overly Enthusiastic Response to a Command Has the Internet Laughing

Jerry Sensed Something Was Off

One day, Luis began experiencing pain in his left leg. He assumed it was related to his MS, which often causes pain in different parts of his body.

But then something unusual happened. As Luis rested in his recliner, Jerry repeatedly approached him and pressed his chin firmly against his left leg. He kept returning to the same spot, again and again, as if he was trying to communicate something.

Jerry had never acted like this before. Eventually, Luis and his wife decided to take the hint and go to the hospital to get it checked out, just in case.

A Surprising Finding

After hours of testing, doctors discovered something serious: Luis had developed deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a dangerous blood clot in his leg. Left untreated, DVT can quickly become life-threatening.

Incredibly, the clot was located exactly where Jerry had been repeatedly pressing his chin.

And here’s what makes this story even more remarkable: Jerry wasn’t trained to detect medical conditions like this. He’s a guide dog, trained to assist with navigation—not to identify blood clots or internal health issues.

A Life-Saving Connection Luis Perez hugs Jerry, his guide dog.

Courtesy of Dogs Inc

So, how did Jerry know? There’s no definitive answer as to how Jerry detected the blood clot. Some experts believe dogs can pick up on subtle changes in scent, behavior or body chemistry, even without training. Luis believes his deep bond with Jerry also played a role.

If Jerry hadn’t been so persistent, Luis says he likely would have dismissed the pain as an MS symptom and waited too long to seek care. It’s very possible Jerry saved his life.

And while we may never fully understand how dogs do things like this, stories like Luis’s and Jerry’s are a powerful reminder of just how intuitive, perceptive and extraordinary dogs can be.

Red River Hog Piglets Born at Walt Disney World Have Everyone Smitten

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 4:21pm

Disney World just got three new adorable residents, and they're already stealing hearts across the internet.

Three red river hog piglets were just born backstage at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Mark Penning, Disney's vice president of animals, science, and environment, shared the joyful news on Instagram on April 3 with photos including a curious piglet looking straight into the camera and sweet candids of the babies with their mama.

The text overlay says: "Meet our newest piglets,"really, that's all the introduction these adorable triplets need. The extreme cuteness speaks for itself.

The comments came in fast.

"A three-pack of absolute cuties! 😍,"one fan wrote, creating the perfect product description.

"I'd like to name one Pumbaa, please. 🥹🫶🫶🫶🫶," because the Lion King connection is obvious.

"I'm in love." Same.

"Cuteness overload" accurate assessment.

"I'm going to need a cuddle..." the universal and perfect response.

The three little piglets are currently getting settled backstage, but they'll be moving into the public habitat very soon and park visitors can see them alongside the other red river hogs already living there.

Red River Hogs Are Native to Africa and Known for Their Striking Appearance

Here's what makes these piglets extra special: red river hogs are only native to West and Central Africa and are considered to be the most visually striking members of the pig family. Their bold reddish-orange coats with contrasting black markings make them very memorable to see in person.

They're not the kind of animal most people would ever encounter in their every day life, which makes spotting them at Animal Kingdom Lodge an even more special experience. And now there are three more to see.

This isn't the first time Disney World celebrated the birth of a red river hog—another piglet arrived back in 2023. But a three-pack? That's a whole different level of adorable.

The piglets are currently backstage getting comfortable, learning from mama, and preparing for their public Disney debut. Soon, park visitors will be able to see them exploring their habitat, playing, and doing all the things baby piglets do.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge just became a little more worth visiting. Three new reasons, specifically. A three-pack of absolute cuties who are already making people fall in love through Instagram photos alone.

Tortoiseshell Kitty Becomes Rare ‘Snapping Turtle Cat’ When Orange Sister Gets on Her Nerves

Wed, 04/08/2026 - 4:00pm

Cats do not like to be annoyed, and they don't like being subtle, either. If something has made a cat angry, you're going to be able to tell pretty quickly. For most cat parents, it's one of the best things about them. There is no mistaking a cat's true feelings.

Recently, one Tortoiseshell cat let her sister know she was getting on her nerves. The first hint, which was a bit more subtle than the next, didn't get through. There was only one more thing to try. She went full snapping turtle:

@willow_maple24

I mean what else can you expect from a tortie 🤷‍♀️ #catsoftiktok #tortitude #tortie #orangecat #badcat

♬ original sound - 𝕹𝖎𝖈𝖐 𝕸𝖆𝖘𝖘𝖆𝖈𝖗𝖊

Willow and Maple love each other... Most of the time. Sometimes, they really can't stand each other. It's mostly Willow who gets all snappy with her sister: Maple, the orange one, is just sitting there in this clip.

Most likely, Willow got upset about how much of their mom's lap her sister was taking up. They're supposed to share, after all! Honestly, I might get a little mad, too. She's trying to nap. That's serious business.

Related: Rescue Cat With ‘World’s Saddest Eyes’ Comes Alive in New Loving Home

Maple seems to know better than to fight back, luckily. She probably did the first few times, but her big sister has put her in her place. She takes the high road most of the time, just turning the other cheek so that her sister won't keep going. Luckily, Willow is easily distracted:

@willow_maple24

No straw is safe around Willow 😅 Although I think she also likes the chance to chew on her sister 😂 #catsoftiktok #tortie #tortitude #stanleycup #orangecat

♬ Drama effect Mach - Don Nahum

Note that it's an orange cat straw topper she keeps biting. Seriously, girl, what is your problem with your sister?! She's wild, but that's what her mom loves about her.

Is It Normal For Cats to Fight?

Personally, I hate confrontation. I don't have cats anymore, but when I was little, I hated it when our cats would fight. It's scary!

Two cats fighting outside.

Image via Shutterstock / Mariya Ilmaz

Just like with every other species on the planet, pretty much, it's normal for cats to fight a little. They live together and have very little opportunity to get away from each other, so there are going to be little things to fight over. They might include:

  • Toys
  • Who gets to sit with their human
  • Their favorite nap spot

You should always keep an eye on a cat fight: most aren't serious and will be over in a few seconds. If it persists or escalates, though, you absolutely need to break it up. Luckily, Willow didn't go too far!
