French Bulldog Lets Little Girl Give Him a Full Jewelry Makeover Like a Reluctant Male Model
Many dog breeds are known for being good with children. Golden Retrievers, Pugs, Poodles, and Labradors are just a few popular breeds with families. Canines with a gentle nature and playful spirit are top picks for pet parents with young kids.
This French Bulldog was the picture of patience when a little girl wanted to play dress-up and recruited him for her jewelry display show.
@lifewithhattiemaeThis was not his idea 💀 #frenchbulldog #toddlersoftiktokfyp #funnyvids #fyp #dogsoftiktok
♬ sonido original - Juanki 🎼In the TikTok from @lifewithhattiemae, the child sat on the floor with the fashionable Frenchie as she placed some bracelets over his paws. The little girl was very gentle while carefully styling the fur baby with beaded bling, and seemingly very strategic on picking the full ensemble.
The canine cutie was completely compliant, though the expression on his face revealed his reluctance. He looked quite bashful and uncertain of the whole experience, but willing to continue if it made the little girl happy.
"This was not his idea," the onscreen text explained.
The patient pooch clearly wasn't cut out for the prep and primping it takes to be a model, yet he put his own feelings aside for his little bestie.
Followers raved over the Frenchie's devotion to the child and gave him props for being such a good sport.
"It’s the way he’s just casually allowing it at this point," one noted.
"Whatever the tiny human wants — Living his best life," someone remarked.
"He's like, 'fine, I'll only tolerate this because I love you," a follower posted.
"He looks so over it," another pointed out.
"This frenchie loves his little human so much he’s willing to partake in what ever activities make her happy," a fan commented.
French Bulldogs Have British RootsDespite the name, French Bulldogs did not originate in France. They were first bred in England during the 1800s as smaller versions of the English Bulldog. Lace makers brought these fur babies with them when they moved to France during the Industrial Revolution. The breed gained popularity there, prompting the "French" moniker.
French Bulldogs are known for their gentle, loving nature and make wonderful companions. This precious pup beautifully demonstrated how Frenchies are always willing to go the extra mile for loved ones.

Great Dane ‘Steals’ Brother’s Skateboard With Sneaky ‘Scooby Doo’ Moves
Great Danes are massive, and what's more, they're magnets for trouble. People call them gentle giants, and they certainly are that, but they're also insane. These horse-sized pups love chaos, and a lot of them also love kids, which goes hand-in-paw.
One Great Dane was living his best life watching his little brother skateboard... Until he decided that he actually wanted it. Naturally, he channeled his inner Scooby Doo and yoinked that bad boy right out from under his little bro:
@penny7146miss that dawg #greatdane #nostalgia #dog
♬ original sound - lmsNico the Great Dane was surprisingly good at driving the getaway board: the way it seemed so easy for him to push it along makes me think this was not the first time. He did exactly what I would've done: wait until his brother was distracted.
Taking in the bins was the perfect opportunity. After the boy is heard proclaiming, "he stole my ride," someone in the comments said, "bro, he IS your ride." It's a fair judgment when you consider that Nico was approximately the same size as the Trojan Horse.

This video is a throwback: Nico has been gone for a while. His brother still thinks about him every day, though, and everyone who sees this video knows exactly how much they loved each other. Except for the one time Nico tried to trample him:
@penny7146Replying to @Noah #greatdane #nostalgia #dog #aibs #childhood
♬ sonido original - Gabriel🧃🪄It was bone cancer, unfortunately, and Nico crossed the Rainbow Bridge at just 3 years old. This fate is decently common for Great Danes, but that doesn't make it any less tragic. While he was here, though, Nico was well-loved and very entertained.
How Common Is Bone Cancer in Great Danes?Big dogs in general have a much, much higher risk of bone cancer (and cancers as a whole) than smaller ones, and Great Danes are proof of that. These goofy, gentle giants have one of the shortest lifespans of any breed, typically ranging from just 8-10 years.
Great Dane outside panting.Image via Shutterstock / arfwag
Great Danes are particularly prone to osteosarcoma, at about 30x more likely than other breeds to develop it. There have been several studies done that provide different estimates, but anywhere from 10-25% of Great Danes will develop OSA in their lifetimes. This cancer causes:
- Lameness
- Fragile bones
- Extreme pain
OSA is very aggressive and often results in euthanasia within a year of diagnosis. Even so, as Nico well knew, it's better to have loved and lost! I hope he has all the skateboards he wants, wherever he may be.

Border Terrier Singing in the Sunshine Sounds Like a Blocked Drain
You hit play expecting a peaceful little moment. Sunshine, a sweet dog, or maybe a soft howl. What you actually get is Fudge. And Fudge sounds like he has been through something. Or many things. Spiritually. Vocally. Possibly with a pack of gravel.
The caption says, “Lovely Fudge singing in the sunshine,” and technically, yes, he is singing. But the sound coming out of this Border Terrier is less “angelic melody” and more… garbled whisper howl with a hint of 50-year-smoker energy. It is quiet, it is scrungly, and it somehow still demands your full attention.

“Voice of an angle,” one person wrote, and honestly, yes. Not an angel, an angle.
“He sounds just like he looks,” another added, which feels a little rude but also incredibly accurate.
“What’s Fudge’s favorite type of cigs?” someone asked, which I did not expect but now cannot unhear.
“Practicing your voice before you call in sick,” which is exactly the energy. He is warming up for something.
“God love him, he sounds like a blocked drain. Adorable X,” which perfectly sums up the entire situation. Concerning, but lovable.
“Sing it, you adorable piece of dryer lint!” one person wrote, and I think that might be his official title now.
“He’s so scrungly,” another added, which is not a word I use lightly, but it fits.
“How wonderful, he sounds like a stone sliding sound effect,” which is so specific and so correct.
“It’s nice you let that lint come out to enjoy the sun,” and again, we are really leaning into the lint narrative here.
“Does he like Marlboro menthols,” and “Gargles rocks but still precious as heck,” which honestly might be the most accurate description of all.
I keep listening and thinking, surely it will get more normal. It does not. It somehow gets more committed. 10/10, would buy the record and attend the concert.
Why Do Dogs Howl? Golden Retriever howling outside.Image Via: JSshots/Shutterstock

Dogs howl for a few different reasons, and while Fudge may be adding his own… unique interpretation, the behavior itself is completely normal. Howling is a form of communication that comes from their wolf ancestors, who used it to connect with their pack over long distances.
Related: Mom Asks Her Bulldog to 'Sing' and Her Immediate Response Is Pure Comedy Gold
Some dogs howl in response to sounds, like sirens, music, or even certain voices. It is their way of joining in, like they are part of the conversation. Others howl to get attention, express excitement, or sometimes even out of boredom.
Certain breeds are more prone to howling than others, but any pup can do it. And just like people, every dog has their own “voice.” Some sound smooth and melodic. Others… sound like Fudge.
The important thing is that it usually means your pooch is engaged, expressive, and reacting to the world around them. Even if that reaction sounds like a blocked drain trying its best.

Golden Labrador Literally Tap Dances Like a Rockette During 3rd Birthday Celebration
Birthdays can be celebrated in a variety of ways. Whether you prefer a fancy shindig, a small party, or a quiet dinner with a few friends, recognizing that annual milestone in your own personal style adds some fun to the year ahead.
Our fur babies enjoy a good birthday soirée as well and have no problem partying with pooch pals and plushies. Noodle the Golden Labrador recently celebrated his third birthday and showed his excitement with some fancy footwork.

♬ original sound - Carpaw KaraokeNoodle stood in front of a glittery blue birthday banner with streamers hanging down and a big, gold "3" balloon. The birthday fur baby had a celebratory black and silver plushie bone in his mouth to add some extra bling to the day.
The Golden Lab was bursting with joy and couldn't stand still. Noodle performed a full-on tap dance that looked like it was choreographed for a Broadway show. The fur baby bopped like a pro, yet the moves seem to come naturally to him. Noodle never stopped dancing throughout the entire video and wasn't winded in the slightest.
Apparently, Noodle likes to groove on a regular basis. The social media account was packed with posts of the dancing dog busting a move in various settings. Whether he was in the car or at home, Noodle was doing some sort of impressive jig worthy of the Rockettes.
While the prancing pooch was obviously delighted with his birthday celebration, the dance performance was something this dog does daily.
Ways To Celebrate Your Dog's BirthdayNoodle obviously likes to bring disco vibes when celebrating his special day. Your pooch may have a different preference and choose something more low-key or outdoors. There are numerous ways to commemorate your dog's birthday that suits their personal temperament. Some ideas include:

- Go for a hike and let your fur baby have unlimited sniff time.
- Take your pup for a shopping spree at their favorite pet store and let them pick out some plushies and treats.
- Invite some of their furry friends over for a playtime party.
- Bake your canine companion a dog-friendly cake and decorate the room with 'Happy Birthday' bling.
- Snuggle up with your pooch for a quiet movie night with some special treats for snacking.
You know your dog best and can tailor a party to their personality. Noodle definitely needs dancing involved for celebrations as well as everyday life.

Itty-Bitty Pinscher in Hilarious Granny Getup Is Mom's Little Doppelgänger
They say the longer you have pets, the more you all start to look alike. As I glance at my stout Corgi, stocky senior Staffy, and my three wildly different cats (a feral-acting Tortie, an impossibly fluffy Ragdoll, and a mean-girl Persian mix), I can't help but wonder who I'm twinning with...at least to the outside world.
For Yoshi, it's clear who his doppelgänger is: Mom! The teeny-tiny, itty-bitty micro Miniature Pinscher is the ultimate bestie who models whatever costume Mom puts on. In the most hilarious getup I've ever seen, Yoshi's impersonation of Mom—glasses, wig, and all—is so spot-on, it deserves some kind of award!

Honestly, little Yoshi is the best sport and does whatever is asked of him, as all besties would. He doesn't even care if his dog friends see this and make fun of him because he's THAT confident!

In one of his most-reposted and viral videos, Yoshi sports this lime-green situation, complete with a crocheted hat that had many comparing him to Snoop Dogg. You really have to see this!

These pups are energetic and confident little sweethearts, but can teeter on the brink of fearlessness to the point of getting into trouble. With good training, exercise, and socialization, Min Pins are amazing companions. They might even let you dress them up so you can twin-out together!

Bernese Mountain Puppy Turns Into 'Perfect Little Fluff Nugget' After First Grooming
My dogs detest taking a bath. There are no words strong enough to express their utter hatred for getting in the tub and dealing with a full shampoo. My Dachshund tries to escape several times while the water is running, and my Pug mix has to be carried through the door. Afterwards, I give them extra treats and let them have free-range zoomies in the house for enduring their ordeal.
Burgundy the Bernese Mountain Puppy didn't seem to love his very first bath, but he hopefully appreciated the adorable floofy results.
@alpenspiritbmdMy favourite thing to do with the puppies is always the first baths, this is burgundy boy from our Journey x Otis babies. 5 weeks old yesterday🫧🐾 #bernese #bernesemountaindog #bernesemountaindogpuppy #puppy #alpenspiritbmd
♬ 오리지널 사운드 - 스위니 sweeney - sweeneyBurgundy's mom prepped for the fur baby's bath in the TikTok from @alpenspiritbmd. She placed the precious puppy in the tub and talked him through the process of rinsing his fur. Burgundy looked unsure of what was happening, but calmly sat as his mom got the shampoo.
His mother was very gentle with the 5-week-old pup throughout the entire bath and let him smell the shampoo before she sudsed him up. He even lay on his side when his mom had to rinse off his round puppy belly. The canine cutie was completely compliant during his mini glam session.
She swaddled Burgundy in a towel like a human baby once he was finished. The clean, cloud-like puffball was so relaxed, he started to doze off. His mom gently used a hair dryer to warm him up as he rested in her arms. It was almost like a little spa treatment.
Burgundy looked like a floofy stuffed animal post-bath and showed his appreciation by giving his mom kisses.
Followers fell in love with the fur baby and were a bit envious of his mom's tub time with the pooch.
"Oh I know he smells like puppy breath and joy," one remarked.
"Such a cute little potato," another gushed.
"It's exhausting being pampered," a follower joked.
"Just gonna say it... You got the best job in the world," someone pointed out.
Burgundy Will Get Much BiggerThis adorable little fluff nugget won't reach full maturity until he's approximately 3 years old. Bernese Mountain Dogs tend to stay in the silly, playful puppy stage longer than other breeds. This big breed reaches 25 to 28 inches in height and tips the scales at 115 to 150 pounds at adulthood.
Burgundy definitely won't stay this small forever, but he'll probably always have that floofy fur. His mom should just plan on having a lot more Bernese to bathe as he gets older.

Siberian Husky Living the Luxe Life With Hotel Room Service Especially for Dogs Is Giving FOMO
Wiley, the Siberian Husky, is one pampered pup. When he isn't exploring the Oregon coast with his humans, the bushy beast is enjoying the good life by testing out the amenities at different dog-friendly hotels. In this recent TikTok, Wiley and his family stayed at the Willows Lodge in Woodinville, Washington, which boasts a room service menu designed especially for dogs. It looks like this Husky sampled a rice dish with chicken that was served under a cloche (just like the human version) and enjoyed every last grain.
@pnwsallyOrder the doggie room service #dogfriendly
♬ original sound - Kayzie WeedmanThis hotel isn't alone in trying to attract pet parents with special amenities designed just for them and their fur babies. More and more people see their pets as part of the family, so leaving them behind just isn’t the default like it used to be. Pet-friendly travel is quickly becoming the norm.
The biggest shift is in accommodations. These days, about 75% of hotels—across all price points—allow pets, and many are going way beyond a simple “pets allowed” policy. Instead of just tolerating animals, hotels are actively welcoming them with things like beds, bowls, treats, and even on-site “pet ambassadors” (yes, actual dogs greeting guests).
Vacation rentals are following suit, too. Platforms like Airbnb have seen a huge spike in searches for pet-friendly stays, showing just how much demand has grown.
Related: Golden Retriever’s Blissed-Out Reaction to a Head Massage Is Pure ASMR
Full Speed AheadAnd it’s not slowing down. The entire pet travel industry is booming, driven by the simple fact that people want to bring their pets along—whether that’s to avoid boarding costs or just because it feels better to have them there. Pet-friendly hotels are becoming a major competitive advantage.
Searches for pet-friendly stays are rising fast, and hotels that lean into it are seeing real benefits, from higher bookings to stronger guest loyalty.
What’s also interesting is how the definition of “pet-friendly” is evolving. It’s no longer just about allowing pets—it’s about catering to them: designated pet amenities, yes, but also flexible policies, and even services that make it easier for humans to explore while their pets are comfortably cared for.

Lady the Dachshund and Her Mom Celebrate Her Gotcha Day Anniversary and We're Crying
Time sure flies when you have an adorable little Dachshund.
It seemed like just yesterday that Lady, the Dachshund, was celebrating her birthday with her mom with an adorable cake and shopping spree, but this week, they were celebrating the one-year anniversary of her Gotcha Day.
Gotcha Day is the day a dog was adopted from a shelter, humane society, or breeder and brought to their forever home.
Lady's mom, Abby Baffoe, an influencer, decided to celebrate the day by posting a photo slideshow of some of their first memories.
The first night, Baffoe went to pick up Lady in Atlanta, but they couldn't get back to NYC because their flight was canceled, so they had to stay at a Four Seasons hotel.
Not a bad way to start your life, Lady!
We see a photo of Lady on a large hotel bed, looking at her mom's room service order.
Finally, they made it to their home in New York City, and Lady settled right into her mom's lovely apartment and began to live the glam life.
We see Lady taking her first bath and her first excursion (in Mom's jacket) to a restaurant for drinks.
Other memories included belly kisses, watching Lady & the Tramp for the first time (which is where Lady got her name from), and her first trip to Central Park.
View this post on Instagram Lady Has Lived Quite the Life AlreadyThen things get really glamorous, as we see photos of Lady's first modeling gig with Mom, her first purchase from Louis Vuitton, and her first stay at the iconic Plaza Hotel.
But it isn't all shopping and hotels for this little dog, as she also completed dog training school, learned to swim (reluctantly), and her mom even documented her having a not-very-glamorous accident on her Baffoe's bed.
Of course, then it was back to more chic memories: campaign photo shoots, Lady and her mom appearing on a billboard in Times Square, being the inspiration for a pajama line her mom did, and winning first place in a Halloween costume contest (she was a hot dog!)
They also took gorgeous Christmas cards together, and Lady was there for her mom's biggest milestone of buying a house at the beach in Michigan this year.
Quite a life she has packed into just a little over a year!

Cat Breed Ranked No.1 'Best for Apartment Dwellers' Is a Quiet and Content Kitty
Living in an apartment doesn't mean giving up your dream of being a cat parent. In fact, some breeds are genuinely happiest in a cozy, contained home environment. When it comes to cats that thrive in smaller spaces, there is definitely one breed that consistently ranks at the top: the British Shorthair.
If you want a cat that's content to do its own thing without needing constant entertainment and engagement, the British Shorthair might be perfect for you. They are calm, quiet, and genuinely happy just spending hours in their favorite spot without needing a everyone to know about it.

♬ original sound - TICA British Shorthairs Are Calm and Quiet Cats Perfect for Apartment LivingHere's what makes British Shorthairs the perfect apartment cats: they're loving without being needy, which is a rare and wonderful combination. They really like being around their people but don't need constant attention or high levels of play that can make small apartments feel chaotic.
British Shorthairs are just naturally low-key cats. They're not climbers who need to scale every surface they come in contact with. They're not talkers who constantly vocalize for your attention. They're the type of feline that settles into a comfortable routine and sticks with that.
Related: Cat Breed Ranked No. 1 'Best for Seniors' Is the Ultimate Gentle Giant
What they really need is very simple: a comfortable perch or soft cat tree where they can settle in and watch the world from a safe distance. Position it near a window and you've created their perfect setup. They'll spend hours upon hours there, perfectly happy watching whatever's happening outside the window.
They're also really easy to live with. British Shorthairs don't come with a laundry list of demands. They're not high-maintenance cats who need constant constant stimulation. They're content with the basics—food, water, a clean litter box, a comfortable spot to nap, and some quality time with their humans when everyone's in vibing.
For apartment dwellers, this temperament is gold. You don't need a lot of space. You don't need all kinds of expensive cat furniture taking over your entire home. You just need to provide the essentials and give them love when you're home.

British Shorthairs are also adaptable. They settle into your routine, no questions, and the typical sounds and activities of apartment living don’t stress them out. Neighbors passing by? Fine. Doors closing in the hallway? No problem. They're calm, reliable companions who bring chill energy to small spaces.
For anyone looking for a cat that could be genuinely happy in an apartment—quiet, content, loving without being overly needy—the British Shorthair is consistently ranked number one for a good reason.
Adorable Vitiligo Tuxedo Kitty Looks Like He Was Sprinkled With Stars
There are cats with fur so unique and beautiful that they make you stop mid-scroll and go wait… what am I looking at? Gatsby is that cat.
The caption reads, “Gatsby, my Galaxy Kitty, knows we must be careful not to waste too much time! It flows so quickly!” which feels very philosophical for a cat who looks like he was personally decorated by the night sky. This Tuxedo kitty has vitiligo, and the white spots scattered across his coat genuinely look like someone sprinkled stars all over him.

“He’s so beautiful, and what an amazing kitty,” and “I have never seen a cat this amazing looking,” which feels accurate because you really don’t see this every day.
And then just, “Gorgeous,” which kind of says it all.

If you’ve never seen a cat with vitiligo before, Sprite is the perfect example of how stunning, unique, and fascinating this condition can be. She started as a solid black cat, and now her fur is shifting into new patches, new markings, and new speckles of white that make her look like a celestial, galaxy-patterned cat. People say she looks like stardust, snowflakes, or tiny constellations across her fur. Every picture tells a new story, and every month her appearance becomes even more extraordinary. Vitiligo in cats is rare, and many people don’t know it even exists. That’s why I’m documenting her journey—to show the world how beautiful a cat with vitiligo truly is. Sprite has become a symbol of uniqueness, change, beauty, and confidence. She embodies the idea that being different makes you unforgettable. The camera loves her, and every transformation moment is breathtaking.@Barkbox 🎁 @Chewy #cats #vitiligobeauty #cattok #catlover #catsoftiktok
♬ original sound - SANDREAVitiligo in cats is considered quite rare. It's a condition that causes loss of pigmentation in the skin and fur, leading to lighter patches or spots over time. These changes can appear gradually and often become more noticeable as the kitty ages.
While it might look dramatic, vitiligo itself is not harmful or painful. Cats with vitiligo are just as healthy as any other kitty, and the condition does not typically affect their quality of life.
It can show up in any breed, but it is more commonly noticed in cats with darker coats because the contrast makes the lighter patches stand out more clearly.
So while it may not be common, it's completely natural. And in cases like Gatsby, it turns into something genuinely breathtaking. Some pet parents may notice the markings shift or spread slightly over time, which can make it feel like their furbaby's coat is constantly evolving. It’s one of those rare conditions where the change itself becomes part of what makes the cat so special.
And honestly, for a lot of people, it’s hard not to see something a little magical in it.

Maine Coon Kitten’s Surprising Transformation Makes Him the Most Handsome Boy
I love Maine Coon kittens because you blink and they're literally hardly kittens anymore. They grow so fast that by the time they're a few months old, they already look like adult cats. Then, they double in size! There's just nothing better.
I think I might've just found the cutest Maine Coon kitten of all time, and he got even more handsome with age. His transformation is truly something to behold, and I love it:

♬ original sound - Jordan ✨Black Diamond Maine Coons has some of the prettiest kitties around. They're not all Black Smoke Maine Coons, but a lot of them are. This sweet boy is, and he looks like a tiny chimney sweep at first!
As he grows older, his color darkens a little, but the entire point of a Smoke Maine Coon is that their fur is lighter at the tips and darker at the base. They grow up with a hazy coat, like a puff of smoke. Get it?

This kitten's coat grew in a particularly interesting way: he has a darker patch on his face, while the rest of his coat has that smoke effect. He's still a kitten, so it will continue to evolve as he ages. He's going to a forever home soon, so we likely won't get to see his adult coat, but it'll look something like this:

Maine Coons Take Years to GrowMaine Coons get anywhere from 2-3 times as big as a standard cat, but they also take 2-3 times as long to grow. Whereas most breeds are done growing by their first birthday, the Maine Coon continues to grow for anywhere from 2-5 years.

Exactly how long a Maine Coon will take to finish growing will depend on a few factors, like:
- Their gender.
- Their genetics.
- Their environments.
A Maine Coon who eats more will experience faster growth, and they'll often grow bigger than a Maine Coon who doesn't eat enough. In order for them to reach their full, lion-like potential, they need to live happy, healthy lives!

Rideable Rockin' Bull FloatSpeaking of durability, while this float is designed to handle regular use by a wide range of riders, it’s still important to follow a few care tips to help extend its lifespan. For starters, Five Below recommends inflating it with a manual pump rather than an electric one, as overinflation can increase the risk of popping.
In addition, while it may be tempting to rely on it in a pinch, this is not a lifesaving device, so avoid leaving small children unattended while it’s in use. And if a tear does occur, the float includes one repair patch to help extend its use, though you’ll likely want to pick up extras to stay prepared for future wear and tear.

Rare Dog Breed’s Puppies Are So Fluffy People Think They’re Baby Polar Bears
All puppies are cute, but there are certain ones you come across who make you stop mid-scroll or in the middle of your walk to do a double take. Maybe they remind you of a pup you had when you were younger or your favorite animal from a TV show. But other times, your attention is caught because the dog reminds you of another animal entirely.
That's what we see in this video of a beautiful but rare dog breed with a fuzzy coat of white fur and oversized paws that make the baby look more polar bear than dog. And it's a cute mix.

Previously Abused Senior Golden Retriever Finally Uses His Voice and It's 'Soulful'
Many rescue dogs have trauma and abuse in their past, causing them to be fearful and slow to trust. What may seem like everyday actions or activities to other pets are a leap of faith for some rescues, who have never learned a normal way of living. Receiving affection, getting treats, playing with toys, or even barking can be daunting to these dogs if they came from a dysfunctional environment.

"My senior rescue dog used to be so scared to use his voice due to his abusive past," the onscreen text explained. "When he finally felt safe enough, we discovered he has the most beautiful, soulful howl we've ever heard."
The second clip featured Bruce harmonizing again, where you could see in his eyes that he put a lot of thought into what he was expressing. He even appeared to take a breath and prepare before releasing his beautiful voice. The precious pooch glanced at his parents after each utterance, most likely for extra reassurance.

Cat Breed Ranked No. 1 'Best for Seniors' Is the Ultimate Gentle Giant
When you're looking for a cat that's calm, affectionate, and great company to be around, one breed consistently rises to the top of the list: the Maine Coon.
Despite being one of the overall largest domestic cat breeds—big enough to make you do a double-take or sure—Maine Coons have earned the fitting nickname "gentle giants" for good reason. They're sweet-tempered, laid back, and make the best companions for seniors looking for a loyal friend.

♬ original sound - Care with Kate Maine Coons Are Called Gentle Giants for Their Sweet Temperament and Large SizeHere's what makes Maine Coons absolutely perfect for senior family members: they're total softies underneath all that impressive size. They'll happily curl up in your lap, get cozy and make these adorably cute chirping and trilling sounds instead of regular every day meows. It's endearing in a way that standard cat vocalizations just aren't.
Maine Coons are also surprisingly smart. Some fans of the breed say they're dog-like because you can actually teach them commands. They're social and loving without being demanding, which makes them ideal for people who want lowkey companionship without constant high-energy activity.

Maine Coons come in a variety of colors and patterns, with tufted ears and paws that give them a slightly wild and exotic appearance. But their temperament is anything but wild. They're patient, gentle giants, and tend to bond deeply with their humans.
Unlike most cats who prefer their solitude, Maine Coons authentically enjoy being around their humans. They'll follow you from room to room, sit beside you while you read or watch TV, and give the kind of steady, calm presence that makes them excellent companions for elderly people.

They also do great in homes that have other pets, which really matters for seniors who already have a dog or another cat. Maine Coons are easy going and and get along well with other animals, making adding another pet into the mix less difficult.
One quirk worth mentioning: unlike most cats, Maine Coons don't actually hate water. In fact, don't be shocked if you catch yours playing in the shower or splashing around in their water bowl. It's just part of their Maine Coon charm that sets them apart from other breeds.
Their grooming needs are manageable—regular brushing keeps their long coats in good shape—and their easygoing, laid back nature means they're not constantly climbing furniture or demanding intense play sessions and all of your attention. For seniors looking for a cat that's loving, loyal, calm, and genuinely good companionship, the Maine Coon checks every single box. They're gentle giants in the truest sense of the word: big cats with even bigger hearts.
Oldest-Living Cat's Golden Abstract Fur Is Like a Beautiful Painting
In a perfect world, pets would live forever because they deserve to. The lucky ones make it far beyond what their typical lifespan should be, but you'd never imagine them living multiple decades.
That's exactly what a stunning Tortoiseshell cat named Flossie's done as the world's oldest-living cat—and she doesn't look a day over 15! If you can peel your eyes off her gorgeous golden fur that deserves a spot in an art gallery, you'll see Flossie is just the sweetest little lady who never takes each day for granted.
View this post on InstagramIn December 2025, Flossie celebrated her 30th birthday, which means this '90s baby (est. 1995) has lived through more world events than my human teens!
According to The Express Tribune, the British Tortie started her life in a feral cat colony in England before a hospital worker rescued her. She lived with several families throughout the years and eventually landed with the UK animal welfare charity, Cats Protection.

Guinness World Records verified the cute kitty's ripe old age of 26 and 316 days back in 2022, which was estimated to be the human equivalent of 120 years! The same year, her current mom, Victoria Green, adopted Flossie, who was found to be deaf with limited eyesight.
“I knew from the start that Flossie was a special cat, but I didn’t imagine I’d share my home with a world-record holder,” Green told The New York Post. “I’ve always wanted to give older cats a comfortable later life. I’m immensely proud that Cats Protection matched me with such an amazing cat.”
View this post on Instagram Secrets to a Cat's Longevity, According to FlossieEven with age-related conditions, the beautiful Tortoiseshell senior is otherwise in excellent health. Some things that might contribute to Flossie's longevity include a solid routine, which includes meals at the same time each day (she wakes early for breakfast), easygoing playtime, and a few more extended naps than she might've needed as a young girly.
PetMD suggests regular vet check-ups, keeping your kitty indoors, and watching their weight as basic ways to keep cats healthy for as long as possible. Also, make sure they get enough mental stimulation to keep their minds young and fresh!
Flossie's mom touted the precious kitty as "affectionate and playful" as if she were no older than a kitten, so her routines, naps, playtime, and meals are working for her. Here's to another 30 years for Flossie and at least three decades for the rest of our furry felines!

Rescued Peacock Growing Back His Feathers Is So Inspirational
Birds are some of the most commonly mistreated pets out there. People will buy birds because they're pretty, but they don't really understand how they actually need to care for them. Birds need a lot more than you might think!
One Peacock was recently rescued from a horrible situation, and he was really struggling. He was completely bare, no feathers in sight... Until he got to his new home. It seems like a little love was all he needed to grow back his beautiful feathers:
@sukithelionWhy did they do this 🥺 #animals
♬ Jacob and the Stone (Slowed) - Emile Mosseri & sped up + slowedSuki the Lion gave this Peacock the home he deserves, and you can clearly tell that it's working. When he first got there, there were no feathers on his body whatsoever. Apparently, he had been kept in a cage for his entire life.
He and several other Peacocks had been having their feathers plucked out, so all of the plucking you see in the first part of this video wasn't self-harm. It was intentional. While not all feathers will come back, especially with repeated plucking, his feathers are doing great!
Related: Stunning White Peacock Takes ‘Cloud Chicken’ to the Next Level
He even found a partner who was in a very similar condition. They've both been growing back their feathers together, and they look great! Growing back their feathers is only one step in a huge healing journey, but they're taking it on together!
When a bird plucks their feathers, they'll take weeks or even months to grow back, depending on the bird. There's also a risk of re-injury: traumatized birds or birds with a history of self-harm will continue to pluck budding feathers. If they're not monitored, continued plucking will result in permanent balding.
What Are Peacock Feathers Sold For?Clearly, whoever was keeping all of these Peacocks and plucking them was selling their feathers. You don't just do that for fun. Peacocks are famous for their stunning feathers.

Peacock feathers are used for decoration. People will craft things out of them, like accessories or home decor. Alternatively, you can often find them sold by themselves, meant for use as:
- Craft supplies.
- Centerpieces.
- Making banners/garlands.
There is such a thing as ethically harvested Peacock feathers, and people have been doing it for thousands of years. Healthy Peacocks naturally molt once a year, and those feathers can be harvested after they've fallen. Before you buy Peacock feathers, please do your research!

How Fast Do Kittens Grow?Who can resist a kitten? We can't. And it's important to savor every second of kittenhood because these funny felines grow up pretty quickly!
In fact, kittens typically double their birth weight during the first week. By 7 weeks old, their senses are developed, and they're rapidly gaining independence. Between 9 and 12 weeks of age, kittens are ready to play and even hunt. By 14 weeks, they've hit adolescence and are ready to be adopted. Aw. And we think children grow fast!
It's funny to watch the wheels turning in this kitty's brain as he tries to process this big cat. We hope the more mature cat befriends these little guys and shows them how cats of all sizes can be friends!

Another said, “I don’t know what was better, the dog joining or just seeing kids out playing together,” which is so real. Kids outside, no phones, just running around with a dog like it's 1998 again.
“Tommy has a better social life than me,” someone added, which… yeah. Same.
“And all those kids’ parents know they have a built-in bodyguard pupper,” which is actually such a comforting thought. Big, loyal dog, right there in the mix.
And then, “This will be a core memory for everyone involved,” which feels exactly right. You can see it happening in real time.
I keep thinking about how my own pets would handle this. Kingston would be overwhelmed in 3 seconds and just bark his dumb head off. Meatball would sit in the middle of the field and refuse to move. Tommy? Tommy said, put me in, I’m ready.

German Shepherds are often great with kids, especially when they are raised with them or properly socialized from a young age. They are known for being loyal, protective, and incredibly intelligent, which makes them naturally tuned into the people around them.
That said, like any dog, it really comes down to the individual pup’s personality, training, and experiences. A well-socialized German Shepherd who has been exposed to different people, environments, and situations is much more likely to be calm, confident, and gentle around children.
@tommythesoccerdogSome of you were worried about the street being close by. Here's what Tommy will do: he'll check for cars, wait if one is coming, chase the ball to stop it, and wait for a kid to get it. Then he'll herd them back to the grassy field. We're lucky to have such a great neighborhood where kids (and Tommy) can play safely! #gsdoftiktok #gsdlife #germanshepherdsoftiktok #dogsoftiktok #safetyfirst

It is always important to supervise interactions, especially with younger kids, and to teach both the dog and the children how to interact respectfully. But when everything lines up, you get moments like this. A dog who is not just tolerated, but invited. Not just present, but part of the group.
And judging by Tommy, he is absolutely living for it.
