You can own every trendy serum, follow a 10-step routine religiously and drop serious money on professional treatments—but if you're missing one super important step, you're essentially lighting your skincare budget on fire. These are the unfortunate facts!

Dermatologists see this pattern constantly: patients investing in retinoids, vitamin C, peptides and in-office procedures while completely neglecting the one thing that determines whether any of those investments pay off. 

It's like buying an expensive car and never changing the oil—you're going to undo all that value through one simple omission. And the damage is cumulative, which means every day you skip this step, you're not just losing that day's protection. You're adding to years of deterioration that no amount of corrective skincare can fully reverse.

This isn't about adding something complicated or expensive to your routine. It's about doing something simple that most people either forget entirely or consider optional depending on the weather, their schedule or whether they're "really going outside today."

We asked board-certified dermatologists to identify the single most commonly skipped step that undermines everything else. Here's what they said.

The Skincare Routine Step to Never Skip, According to Dermatologists

It’s always the same culprit: sunscreen. 

Dr. Whitney Hovenic, double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, doesn't mince words. "The step I see patients skip most, and the one that can completely undermine everything else they're doing for their skin, is applying sunscreen as the final step of their morning routine," she says. We’ll say it again for the people in the back: you can spend a fortune on skincare products, lasers and in-office treatments, but it's all for nothing if you're not protecting the skin you're investing in.

The numbers back this up. "Up to 90% of visible skin aging is caused by sun exposure. Ultraviolet radiation breaks down collagen and elastin, triggers pigmentation and accelerates fine lines, wrinkles and uneven texture," Dr. Hovenic explains, adding that sunscreen isn't optional—it's the non-negotiable final step of any morning skincare routine.

Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every single morning, rain or shine, to protect your skin and preserve the results of everything else you're doing for it.

The Most Important Parts of a Good Skincare Routine

It’s worth taking a closer look at what truly plays the biggest role in taking care of your skin. Some people swear by multi-step regimens, while others keep things simple and still see results. Understanding what really makes a difference can help you avoid wasted time and money. 

Dr. Hovenic says that being consistent is often more important than the smaller details of your routine. "The best skincare routine is the one you actually stick to," she says. 

Dr. Chang Sonagrees. "Find a regimen that works for you—ideally with a specialist's guidance if needed—based on your ability to stay consistent, as well as the cost and time involved," he advises. "Once you establish a routine that fits your lifestyle, it's important to follow it consistently. Regular adherence is the only way to gradually change your skin's physiology and achieve the results you're looking for.”

Dr. Nicole Lee, board-certified dermatologist and owner of Epoch Dermatology, points out another all-too important part of any good skin care routine: "Washing your face at the end of the day! Cleansing is the foundation of any skincare routine," she says. 

This can be easy to overlook when you’re tired, but it’s vital. "Throughout the day, the skin accumulates oil, sweat, pollution, makeup and sunscreen,” Lee says. “If those aren't properly removed, they can clog pores and interfere with how the rest of your skincare products work.” A good cleanse essentially resets the skin so everything applied afterward can be more effective.

What Is the Best Anti-Aging Skincare Routine?

There are so many ways to approach anti-aging skincare, that it’s easy to get pulled in different directions trying to figure out what actually works. The advice never seems to stop. It helps to take a step back and look at what really defines an effective approach in the first place.

Looking at the bigger picture can shift how people think about skincare. Instead of focusing only on products or quick fixes, consider how your overall health and daily habits might affect your skin’s condition over time. 

Dr. Son takes a holistic view. "Remember, the skin is not an isolated organ—it exists in homeostasis with the rest of the body,” he says. So, adequate nutrition and overall good health may be among the most important factors in maintaining an effective skincare routine.

"Sufficient hydration and avoiding extrinsic factors that contribute to skin aging are essential," adds Dr. Son. 

It can be a lot easier to put those big-picture ideas into practice on a daily basis if you have a clear structure in place.

Dr. Lee breaks it down into four pillars. "A well-rounded anti-aging routine usually includes four key components: sunscreen to prevent collagen breakdown, antioxidants like vitamin C to neutralize environmental damage, retinoids to stimulate collagen production and accelerate cell turnover, and barrier-supporting moisturizers to maintain skin hydration and resilience," she says. "When used consistently, this combination addresses both prevention and repair.”

Once you have the foundation in place, you may want to build on those results with optional additional treatments. 

"Ingredients like hyaluronic acid and peptides help maintain skin plumpness and elasticity over time." Dr. Hovenic explains, and goes on to add that in-office treatments such as laser resurfacing or microneedling can also support long-term skin health by stimulating collagen and elastin production.

How To Build an Effective Skincare Routine

The way to create a skincare routine that works for you is to begin with a very basic one. Then slowly customize it based on any concerns you have specific to your skin.

Dr. Lee recommends doing this process slowly and patiently. "The best approach is to start simple and build gradually,” she explains. 

The basic elements of any skincare routine are essentially the same for everyone: cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. "That's your foundation,” says Dr. Hovenic. 

“Once your skin tolerates that foundation well, you can introduce targeted actives one at a time," Dr. Lee explains. "Introducing products slowly allows you to monitor how your skin responds and prevents unnecessary irritation."

“Add in a retinoid at night and vitamin C in the morning for its antioxidant properties," Dr. Hovenic suggests. "From there, identify your primary skin concern, whether it's acne, hyperpigmentation, aging or sensitivity and introduce one active ingredient at a time so you can monitor how your skin responds."

Whatever you do, don’t rush to make changes or add new products. Take every step bit by bit.

"I recommend giving any new product four to six weeks before evaluating results," Dr. Hovenic adds. And when in doubt, consulting a board-certified dermatologist can help ensure your routine is tailored to your skin's specific needs.

A royal author claims that Prince Harry faced scrutiny for Meghan Markle's past actions, leading to her being "unwelcome" at Balmoral after Queen Elizabeth's death.

Royal author Tom Bower reported in his book Betrayal that it was King Charles who delivered the news to Harry that Meghan shouldn't travel to Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where Elizabeth died on September 8, 2022, at 96.

Bower reported that Charles called Harry to share the news that Meghan was "unwelcome" after Harry expressed his need to have his wife there to support him. An excerpt from Betrayal was published by Express.

"When Charles heard that Meghan intended to come, he called Harry. That was unacceptable," Bower reported.

"Since Meghan had refused the Queen’s invitations to Balmoral in the Queen’s lifetime, she was unwelcome at her death," the author claimed. "Sharing his grief with Meghan, who maligned the monarchy, was unthinkable. [Charles] believed that, to her dying day, his mother was shocked by Harry’s disloyalty."

The author added that Meghan wasn't the only royal wife not in attendance. Reportedly, Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife, was also not invited to Balmoral to pay her condolences.

"Charles ended their argument by revealing that Kate would not be coming, so Meghan had not been picked on. Still fuming, Harry discovered that William, who was unwilling to wait any longer, had ordered the plane to take off," Bower concluded.

This moment was noted in an interview Harry had with Anderson Cooper. PEOPLE Magazine published an excerpt, echoing that same information.

"I asked my brother — I said, 'What are your plans? How are you and Kate getting up there?' And then, a couple of hours later, you know, all of the family members that live within the Windsor and Ascot area were jumping on a plane together, a plane with 12, 14, maybe 16 seats," Harry wrote.

"You were not invited on that plane?" asked Cooper. "I was not invited," Harry responded.

What Health Issues Has Susan Boyle Faced?

Boyle is shining these days brightly, but she’s faced significant challenges in the years following her breakout success. She was diagnosed with Asperger’s in 2013 and explained that she deals with depression and mood swings, according to The Guardian. However, she made it clear the diagnosis wouldn’t define her.

“It will not make any difference to my life. It’s just a condition that I have to live with and work through,” she explained.

In April of 2022, she suffered a stroke. On Instagram, she opened up about the event and the battle to recover.

“For the past year I have worked so hard to get my speech and singing back, with the sole aim of being able to sing on stage again & tonight my hard work & perseverance paid off, singing the song that started it all, ‘I Dreamed A Dream’…”

On April 2, 1974, the spotlight at the 46th Academy Awards turned to a surprising winner: Glenda Jackson, who took home her second Best Actress Oscar for her role in A Touch of Class. 

The ceremony, held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, marked a historic moment in Hollywood and a defining chapter in Jackson’s remarkable career.

The British star’s victory came as a shock to many. Competing against strong contenders like Ellen Burstyn for The Exorcist and Barbra Streisand for The Way We Were, Jackson was not widely expected to win.

Yet, when presenters Susan Hayward and Charlton Heston announced her name, it cemented one of the most memorable upsets in Oscars history.

Per Gold Derby, Jackson was not present to accept the award, just as she had missed her first win for Women in Love. Still, her performance as Vicki Allessio, a British divorcee navigating a romantic affair, left a strong impression on voters and critics alike.

The 1974 ceremony, co-hosted by Burt Reynolds, Diana Ross, John Huston and David Niven, celebrated some of the most iconic films of the era.

Crime caper The Sting, directed by George Roy Hill, dominated the night with seven wins, including Best Picture and Best Director. Meanwhile, Jack Lemmon won Best Actor for Save the Tiger.

Despite the strong competition and major box office hits in the lineup, Jackson’s win stood out for its unpredictability. At the time, many awards watchers believed the race was between Burstyn and Streisand, with Marsha Mason also considered a contender. Jackson, by contrast, was seen as a less likely pick.

Jackson’s second Oscar win placed her in a rare class of actresses recognized twice for Best Actress. Her success was driven not just by one performance, but by a wave of acclaim that followed her earlier triumph in Women in Love and her Emmy-winning turn in the BBC series Elizabeth R.

She was widely respected for her craft, often described as a serious actor rather than a traditional movie star. Her peers admired her intense performances and intellectual approach to roles, which helped her stand out in a crowded field of talented nominees.

Her victory also reflected broader support for A Touch of Class, which earned multiple nominations, including Best Picture. The film’s recognition across categories likely boosted Jackson’s chances, helping her edge ahead in a divided race.

Jackson remains one of the few performers to achieve the prestigious Triple Crown of Acting, winning Oscars, Emmys and a Tony Award. Her career spanned stage, film and television, marked by bold choices and powerful performances.

After reaching the peak of her acting career, Jackson made an unexpected move into politics, serving for more than two decades as a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom. She later returned to acting, earning renewed acclaim well into her 80s.

Her death in 2023 at age 87 prompted tributes celebrating her “three-act life” as an actor, politician and actor again. Today, her 1974 Oscar win is remembered not just as a surprise victory but as a moment that captured her unique place in entertainment history.

When we initially met Michael Allio on The Bachelorette, we had heard some of his story. In 2019, he had lost his wife to breast cancer, and he was a single father just trying to do the best he could for his son, and he certainly did.

He chose to leave the series because his son wanted him home, and it’s one of the best parenting decisions he could ever make. After that, he went on Bachelor in Paradise, and while he left in a relationship, that didn’t last.

It’s not a story of a man being unlucky in love. As I chatted with Allio about his new children’s book, Where the Wild Heart Grows, he shared that he is with a woman, Jade, who is everything he needed in his and his son’s life. We didn’t get too much into the new relationship, though — except that James genuinely adores her and she him — as we chatted a lot about Allio’s book and story.

Where the Wild Heart Grows is a beautiful story about loss and grief, while also focusing on embracing the different seasons of life on the path of becoming. It's one that touches deep in the soul, creating stories that can be revisited as time passes. The origin of it is the most interesting aspect, and it looks like there could be more to this storytelling.

“I originally started writing these short stories, bedtime stories, because I really struggled to find the right words, what to say, how to say it, how to breach the conversation to allow him to be a kid whilst creating a safe place for him to speak about all the things that happened in our life. We love to read at bedtime, and that’s when the world quietens down.

So, I started writing these stories for him that I found created a bridge between us, parent and child, where the child isn’t the center of the question. As I was writing this, there was a part of me that was healing in the process. I was writing words that I needed to hear.”

The “things that happened in our life” comment is directly attached to the loss of Allio’s wife, Laura. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, and she passed away two years later. James was only young, but she will always be remembered as a part of their lives. It’s something Allio would later confirm while speaking about Jade and how she fits into his life as a widower.

The short stories focused on loss and grief, giving James a chance to ask the questions that he needed. As Allio said, they helped to heal a part of him, which is why he knows Where the Wild Heart Grows isn’t just a children’s book. He went on to share, “I think parents that are reading this to their kids are going to pool different lessons and it’ll mirror their own life in so many ways.”

This isn’t about toxic positivity, either. It’s not about just moving on, but about feeling the emotions and sitting with them at times. The book isn’t even just about loss through death. There are all sorts of ways that we can feel grief and loss, whether it’s from a breakup, a job loss, or something else major that happens in our lives, and it’s why it works so well for so many people.

Where The Wild Heart Grows

It turns out that there are more than 40 short stories, but only seven have made it into Where the Wild Heart Grows, so there’s certainly room for a follow-up! Every story is set in a forest, where the world of nature interconnects, creating a way of looking at loss in a more organic way.

“Who knows better about the seasons of life than the things in nature?” Allio pointed out to Parade, “Trees losing their leaves and streams breaking apart. Those kind of lessons that we can pull from nature or exist in our own life”

So, where did this story start from? It turns out that it was Allio simply looking out of the window and seeing a tree losing its leaves. Allio started to look at it with a more human viewpoint, “Does that tree mourn the loss of the leaves? Is the tree wise enough to know that it goes through these seasons and, in order to let go of certain things, it makes room and space for something beautiful to grow? What if we are able to bring those concepts into our own life? Would that allow us to live a happier, more peaceful, free life?”

Personally, it made me think of the eagles on the live cams. If you’ve watched Jackie and Shadow, Mrs. T, or M15 (and mourned F23) on YouTube or TikTok then you know what I mean. Eagles don’t have the same human emotions as us, but they do mourn, and then they accept life as it is. They will see their babies fledge, and they may never know what happens to those babies afterward, but life moves forward, and so do they.

The artwork in the book is something that deserves its own attention. There are 35 oil-painted illustrations throughout Where the Wild Heart Grows, all exquisitely created by Luke Stretar, and there is a personal connection to Allio with them. 

“It’s the craziest story,” Allio explained, “Sometimes life just provides. After I wrote this book, I was thinking that I was going to have to search the country trying to find an artist. It turns out that James is in [Luke’s] son, Tommy’s, third grade class. They’re on the same baseball team, and Luke tells me he’s an artist. I looked at his art, and it’s tonalist. He paints gorgeous American landscapes, and the tonalist style is about light into darkness, so it was the perfect fit…It’s completely in line with the theme of the book, which is to slowdown.”

The artwork has been taken from the canvas to digital in the book, and you can get a sense of it just from the front cover. There is an old world vibe to everything, giving a sense of a form of storytelling that feels lost at times.

Don’t expect to see Where the Wild Heart Grows in major bookstores, though. While they’re great, Allio and his team want this to start out in the smaller stores — the independent bookstores that need our help. It does mean that it’s also not mass-produced, and you can pre-order for delivery directly from its own official website.

The website is a must-visit, as you’ll get to see much of the artwork that’s included. There are also teases of the seven stories included, a little about both Allio and Stretar, and another look into the meaning and hope behind the stories.

How did Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon meet?

Ashley and Jared met in 2015 while filming Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise. 

Their first date took place in Mexico, and for Ashley, it was “truly love at first sight,” she said on the digital series The Story of Us. But while Ashley famously dove in headfirst, Jared saw her as more of a friend than a romantic partner. He said he remembers feeling “so comfortable with [Ashley]” and how effortlessly their conversations flowed, but he wasn’t ready to pursue anything deeper. “It was a slow build for me,” he explained.

When did Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon get together?

The two officially became a couple in 2018—three years after they first met on BiP. Up until then, they were close friends, but Ashley still longed for something more. That was apparent on Bachelor in Paradise Season 3, when she tried to win Jared over yet again—only to wind up sobbing in confessionals over his total lack of interest.

“If I had any idea that Ashley was coming into Paradise, even if it was a small percentage, to either be with me or get over me, I would never have gone to Paradise,” Jared said at the time. He also revealed that he and Ashley had discussed returning to the show prior to signing on for it, and that they agreed they’d be “going for other people.”

Still, the two managed to put any hard feelings behind them and remain close friends. It wasn’t until Ashley started dating Kevin Wendt, who she met on The Bachelor Winter Games, that Jared realized he had feelings for her after all. 

“I was dating Kevin like out in the real world for two weeks and Jared came out about his feelings and he kissed me in the airport,” Ashley said on The Ben & Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast. 

She broke up with Kevin in March 2018 and officially started dating Jared in May. By June, they were engaged. Fittingly, Jared popped the question on Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise. 

How did Ashley Iaconetti end up with Jared Haibon?

After years of Ashley pining for Jared (and crying gallons of tears along the way), he finally reciprocated her love in 2018, when they were on a group trip. He later revealed that seeing Ashley date someone else made him realize he didn’t want to lose her.

“I remember I heard rumors that she might have met somebody, and I was sad,” Jared said on The Story of Us. “Sometimes I need a kick in the a--. That was a big kick in the a--.”

Still, he doesn’t regret the years they spent in the friendzone because it gave them a strong foundation. 

“Ashley and I got to see each other outside, in our lifestyles and how one another would fit in that—friends groups, careers, places we want to live, things of that nature,” he said. “We got to cultivate that friendship before we started dating.”

Jack Lemmon, the legendary Hollywood star, marked a pivotal milestone 52 years ago today.

Having appeared in over 60 films, Lemmon made his big-screen debut in the 1949 movie The Lady Takes a Sailor, where he played a minor role.

He made several iconic films in collaborations with Billy Wilder, appearing in iconic films such as Some Like It Hot and The Apartment.

Yet, despite his string of hits across comedies and intense dramas, it was the John G. Avildsen-directed film that became a turning point in his career.

In the 1973 classic Save the Tiger, Lemmon portrayed Harry Stoner, a middle-aged garment manufacturer grappling with PTSD after serving as a World War II veteran. He was joined by Jack Gilford as Stoner’s longtime friend and business partner Phil Greene and Laurie Heineman as Myra, a free-spirited hippie Stoner meets along the way.

Unlike his earlier film Mister Roberts, which was a box office hit, Save the Tiger received a more muted response from the public. Still, it earned Lemmon his first Oscar for Best Actor.

At the 46th Academy Awards, he triumphed over fellow nominees Marlon Brando (Last Tango in Paris), Jack Nicholson (The Last Detail), Al Pacino (Serpico) and Robert Redford (The Sting).

During his acceptance speech, Lemmon humorously noted that he had prepared a speech long ago, way back in 1959.

“I've forgotten it,” he joked, before thanking the film’s team and his family.

“If I took the time to thank all of the people, very honestly, that are responsible for this award we'd be here much too long. But naturally, to Marty Ransohoff, and Filmways and Paramount. I am deeply indebted for them letting us even make the film, because nobody wanted to let us make it. To Steve Shagan and John Avildsen. It would take much too much and much too long and I'll have to do it personally later.”

He also addressed the criticisms the award had faced in recent years, particularly accusations of "overacting," while emphasizing the honor of receiving it.

“I just want to say one more thing. In recent years especially there has been a great deal of criticism about this award. And probably a great deal of that criticism is very justified. I would just like to say that whether it's justified or not, I think it is one hell of an honor and I am thrilled. And I thank you all very, very much," he saud.

Before winning Best Actor, Lemmon had first received Oscar recognition for Best Supporting Actor for Mister Roberts, showcasing the range and enduring impact of his remarkable career.

On this day 22 years ago—April 2, 2004—the rom-com The Prince & Me starring Julia Stiles and Luke Mably officially hit theaters.

Paige ultimately graduates from college and opts to pursue her goal of joining Doctors Without Borders. Meanwhile, Eddie becomes king. However, he surprises Page at her graduation and promises to wait for her.

After its moderate success of $37 million worldwide at the box office, The Prince & Me inspired three direct-to-video sequels (and a moderate cult following). They included The Prince & Me 2: The Royal Wedding, The Prince & Me 3: A Royal Honeymoon and The Prince & Me 4: The Elephant Adventure. Stiles did not reprise her role in the sequels, as Kam Heskin took over the part of Paige. Mably starred in the second movie, but he was replaced by Chris Geere in the third and fourth films.

Tori Kelly chose not to find out her baby's sex in advance, so she and her husband decided to lean into muted, earthy, neutral and gender-neutral shades for the nursery.

"We chose neutral colors to make the room feel serene and grounded. Plus it gave us flexibility since we didn’t know the baby’s gender," Kelly explained in a statement shared with Parade. "The neutral colors create this really soft environment that instantly makes you exhale when you walk in."

The nursery's color scheme ranges from soft whites to warm beiges, with varying wood tones throughout the space. There are also plenty of knit and muslin blankets in colors like white, tan, light blue and dusty rose.

"I love neutrals because they feel timeless," Kelly continued, adding that she "was drawn to timeless pieces and natural textures."

"The idea of building a 'nest' for our baby felt especially meaningful, and it’s even more personal because my name means 'bird' in Japanese," Kelly said.

On top of making the nursery feel like a cozy and calm nest for Zayden to land, Kelly also added some bird motifs throughout the space. Above the cozy corner chair is a mobile featuring white felt birds, and on the ceiling are decals of birds flying across the sky.

In March 2026, heavy rains and storm systems led to multiple “brown water advisories” across Hawaii. These advisories have been issued on several islands, including Oʻahu, Maui, Kauaʻi, and the Big Island. 

A brown water advisory means exactly what it sounds like: ocean water turns murky or brown due to runoff flowing from land into the sea. That runoff can carry sediment, sewage, bacteria, chemicals, and debris, making swimming potentially unsafe. 

In some areas, conditions have been serious enough to close beaches entirely. For example, parts of the Big Island, including South Kohala and North Kona, have seen full beach park closures due to contamination concerns.

The main culprit is heavy rain. When storms hit Hawaii, water rushes down mountains and through urban areas, collecting pollutants along the way. This runoff eventually drains into the ocean, especially near stream mouths and coastal outlets.

One major example is the Ala Wai Canal on Oʻahu, which channels runoff from Honolulu directly into the ocean near Waikiki, often causing spikes in bacteria levels after rainfall. Other contributing factors include aging wastewater systems and thousands of cesspools across the islands, which can leak into coastal waters during storms. 

The result? Even beaches that typically look pristine can temporarily become unsafe.

Beaches and Areas to Be Cautious Of

While advisories can change daily, several types of beaches are currently higher risk:

• West Hawaii (Big Island): South Kohala and North Kona shorelines have seen closures and advisories
• Kauaʻi: North and east shore areas like Hanalei, Kapaʻa, and Wailua have been impacted by runoff
• Oʻahu: Areas near Waikiki and the Ala Wai Canal, plus parts of the North Shore after storms
• Maui: Shorelines from Lahaina to Hookipa and other rain-affected areas

In general, any beach near a stream, harbor, or drainage outlet is more likely to experience contamination after heavy rain.

The brown water advisory for Oahu created a lot of questions so let’s talk about it. People tend to think that if the water is blue that it should be safe, but it technically doesn’t need to be “brown,” it could be low visibility (aka murky) and less clear. You might not even notice this if you aren’t used to the water here, and it looks different than what you are used to. So you can check brown water advisory on the DOH website or ask the lifeguards. The general rule is to stay out of the ocean for 48-72 hours after heavy rain, after the sun has been out. If the rain has been particularly bad, some locals will opt to wait a week. If you end up going out into the water, no judgement but know the risks. You are risking coming in contact with the contaminants that come from run off, sewage water, human and animal waste. You are also at higher risk for shark activity because they like to hunt in these conditions and may mistake you in lower visibility conditions. The biggest concern isn’t just murky water, it’s what’s in it. Runoff can contain elevated levels of bacteria, such as enterococci, which come from human and animal waste and can cause illness. 

Health officials warn that swimming in contaminated water can lead to infections, stomach illness, skin irritation, and more serious conditions, especially for children or those with weakened immune systems. Because these contaminants aren’t always visible, clear-looking water isn’t always safe immediately after storms.

How Long Should You Avoid the Water?

It is recommended to stay out of the ocean for 48 to 72 hours after heavy rain, and longer if the water remains murky. Sunlight and calmer conditions help clear contamination over time, but it can vary depending on location and rainfall intensity.

What This Means for Travelers

If you’re visiting Hawaii right now, that doesn’t mean you should cancel your trip; it just means you should adjust your plans.

• First, check local advisories daily. Conditions can change quickly, and some beaches may be perfectly safe while others nearby are not.
• Second, be flexible. If your planned beach is under an advisory, consider heading to drier regions, such as leeward (west-facing) coasts, which tend to have cleaner water due to lower rainfall. 
• Third, don’t ignore warning signs. Lifeguards and posted advisories are there for a reason, and entering contaminated water isn’t worth the risk.

Hawaii’s beaches are still some of the most beautiful in the world, but right now, some are best admired from the shore.

If you’re traveling this spring, stay informed, avoid murky water, and give the ocean time to recover after storms. Because in paradise, even the clearest waters can change quickly.

Sinners scored massive recognitions and accolades, making it one of the "best movies of all time."

Set in the 1930s, the vampire thriller stars Michael B. Jordan, who plays the identical twins Elijah "Smoke" Moore and Elias "Stack" Moore, the protagonists facing a supernatural evil in their hometown, while Jack O'Connell takes on the role of Remmick, the Irish vampire and the antagonist of the movie.

Sinners also features Hailee Steinfeld as one of the lead stars, who portrays the role of Stack’s ex-girlfriend, Mary and Wunmi Mosaku as Annie, a spiritual healer and Smoke's estranged wife.

Marking its theatrical release in April 2025, the Ryan Coogler-directed movie not only received stellar reviews from critics and audiences but also raked in a whopping $48 million at the domestic box office, with an additional $15.4 million from the international market, bringing the global tally to $63.5 million, as cited by Variety.

From box office hits to historic success, Sinners made history by earning a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations, the most in Academy Awards history.

It surpassed the record previously held by Titanic, All About Eve and La La Land.

As for scoring wins at the 98th Academy Awards, Sinners took home four awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score and Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan.

According to the newly minted Oscar winner, he admitted feeling nervous but at the same time thrilled about playing such a challenging character.

“When my longtime collaborator and friend Ryan Coogler called and broke down the premise of Sinners to me, he said, 'Oh yeah, by the way, you’ll be playing identical twins,’” he told W magazine, adding, “That took me back for a second. It definitely presented a challenge, and I had a little bit of anxiety. But I was equally excited about doing something that pushed me out of my comfort zone.”

With the continued recognition and success, the supernatural horror film was added to the list of 300 highest-rated movies of all time, as ranked by Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on the rankings, Sinners debuted at No. 38 with an impressive 97 percent score on the Tomatometer, which reflects the positive reviews from professional critics.

Meanwhile, landing in the top five on the 300 Best Movies of All Time are The Godfatherat the top spot, followed by Seven Samurai, Casablanca, Rear Window and L.A. Confidential at fifth place.

Beginning with “Second Hand News” and “Dreams,” weaving through “Go Your Own Way” and “The Chain,” and ending with “Gold Dust Woman,” the album is a masterclass in consistency and emotion. “There isn’t a single ounce of fat on this thing,” Alper writes.

Even amid intra-band drama and tension, Rumours delivered four Top 10 hits, including “Dreams,” which reached No. 1. Singles from the album continue to chart decades later; Forbes reports “The Chain” recently climbed to No. 117 on the Billboard Global 200.

With new members Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joining Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, and John McVie, Christine described in a 1977 Rolling Stone interview that the album was made despite, “Drama. Dra-ma,” with the inner chaos fueling creativity. 

Rumours is ranked No. 7 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums. “It is a masterclass in tension and release. Sometimes, human misery is the best producer,” Alper adds — a reminder that great music can rise from the messiest moments.

In October 1973, Dolly Parton released 'Jolene,' a spare, aching plea to a beautiful woman not to steal her husband. It hit No. 1 on the country charts, became one of the most-covered songs in history, and eventually landed at No. 63 on Rolling Stone's revised list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. What nobody expected was that a decade later, one of the darkest bands in British rock history would make that country classic part of their repertoire.

The Sisters of Mercy formed in Leeds, England in 1980, driven by Andrew Eldritch and Gary Marx's desire to hear themselves on the radio. With Eldritch's bass-baritone at the center, a drum machine they called Doktor Avalanche keeping time, and a sound that drew equally from post-punk and American rock, they became the band that exemplified the goth look and the goth sound, the popularizers of the genre on a worldwide scale. Eldritch himself, for the record, has spent decades rejecting the goth label, reportedly joking that he has only to wear black socks to be called the demon overlord.

The Sisters covered 'Jolene' for the first time as early as 1983, and it became part of their live setlist again and again. The version most fans may know appeared in their David 'Kid' Jensen Session, recorded at Maida Vale on March 6, 1983 and broadcast on March 10, 1983. That session also featured original tracks 'Heartland,' 'Valentine,' and 'Burn', serious goth rock tracks.

The BBC Sessions collection also includes covers of the Stooges' '1969' and Hot Chocolate's 'Emma,' which tells you something about Eldritch's range of reference. He was not a man limited by genre boundaries. The 'Jolene' cover appears to have been part sincere homage, part gleeful provocation, as the band stayed true to Parton's lyrics and maintained their version as a woman singing about the fear that her man would be taken.

For decades, the recording existed only in bootleg form. The 1983 session boasted the Sisters cover version that had never otherwise seen official release. That changed in 2021, when BBC Sessions 1982-1984 was finally released, charting the band's earliest days as an indie band in 1982 to the time they signed to Warner Records in 1984.

What makes the whole song so delightful is the collision of worlds it represents. Parton's original is wide open emotionally. A woman at her most vulnerable, begging a rival for, mercy. Eldritch's version runs that same lyric through the Sisters' dark, mechanical engine. The words don't change. The feeling does, completely.

Parton, for her part, has always seemed unbothered by covers that take 'Jolene' somewhere she never intended. That may be the most country thing about this story: the song is big enough to hold whatever you bring to it. Even leather jackets, sunglasses, and Doktor Avalanche.

There may be only three episodes left, but The Pitt doesn't seem like it's slowing down anytime soon.

The cyber attack drags on, of course, while the line for CT scans only grows as more and more significant injuries roll in and the beef between varying members of the ER staff stews on, with many approaching their boiling points.
