Benicio del Toro Reveals Unique 'Connection' With Non-Actors in 'One Battle After Another'

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 11:53pm

Sean Penn may have just scooped the BAFTA Film Award for Best Supporting Actor, but many fans' favorite performance in One Battle After Another goes to fellow Oscar-winner Benicio del Toro.

Both renowned performers are Academy Award-nominated for their standout turns in director Paul Thomas Anderson's latest film, which actually has a whopping 13 nods going into next month's ceremony.

In the meantime, del Toro, 59, opened up in a new interview about his unique first day on set of the acclaimed film, which involved a scene in El Paso, Texas alongside lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio — and a few Spanish-speaking storeowners.

Anderson, 55, put DiCaprio, 51, and Del Toro in charge of communicating with the non-actors, as del Toro told The Hollywood Reporter.

"There’s real money from the store. And I’m taking money out of there [for the scene]," del Toro tells the magazine in a cover-story article published on Monday, Feb. 23. "And the lady is sitting right next to me. She’s looking at me like this [widening her eyes]. And then I give it back when Paul called ‘cut.’ But that was her money, not prop money."

The Usual Suspects star continued, "Suddenly there’s this connection between the non-actors and Leo and myself. And Leo and I, we talked a little bit about it. We were in charge here. This was our show. These non-actors were looking to us to know what to do. And so for Leo and I, our heads instantly pointed in the same direction — it was a bonding moment."

Check out another memorable scene between del Toro and DiCaprio below:

Also during his THR interview, del Toro spoke candidly about grief, having lost his mother when he was a child. Fausta Genoveva Sánchez Rivera died of hepatitis when he was just 9 years old.

“I’m still dealing with it,” he said. “I had my mother for nine years. What is crazy about losing a parent at that age is that there hasn’t been one day in my life that I haven’t thought about her.”

1990s Country Duo’s No. 1 Hit Among ‘Greatest Country Songs of All Time’ Released 34 Years Ago Today

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 11:29pm

Brooks & Dunn have a long list of hits in their catalog, and one such timeless classic that has long resonated with both country music and artists alike is the duo’s heartbreak track, “Neon Moon.”

The award-winning country music artists, made up of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, released the song 34 years ago today on Feb. 24, 1992, as the third single from their debut album, Brand New Man. An instant hit, the song quickly topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, becoming the act’s third consecutive No. 1 behind Brand New Man’s title track and“My Next Broken Heart.”

The Lyrics

Written solely by Dunn, the song’s subject matter focuses on a lonesome and heartbroken man yearning over a lost love. He spends his time at a rundown bar across the railroad tracks, where he drowns his sorrows “drink by drink,” and promises the light of the neon moon will help ease his pain.

“Oh, if you lose your one and only / There's always room here for the lonely / To watch your broken dreams / Dance in and out of the beams / Of a neon moon,” the stirring chorus of the song goes.

Commercial Success

Surprisingly, “Neon Moon” was not given a video treatment, but the lack of one did not hinder the commercial success of the song. Since its release, the song has earned 5x Platinum certification, underscoring its enduring popularity. Though the tune didn’t win any major awards, the track has also landed at No. 41 onRolling Stone’s ranking of 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time in 2024.

Other Versions

Over the years, “Neon Moon” has been covered by various artists. Kacey Musgraves released a version of the song for Brooks & Dunn’s 2019 duets album Reboot, while Morgan Wallen reimagined the song for the band’s 2024 Reboot II album.

Other artists who offered covers of the popular song include Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, the latter of whom duetted the track with Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Blake Shelton as part of a Kellyoke segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show

"It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away. In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon on light to everyone around him," the statement began. "We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby’s valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness."

The family concluded the statement asking for privacy as they navigate Carradine's devastating loss.

"At this time we ask for the privacy to grieve this unfathomable loss. With gratitude for your understanding and compassion," said Carradine's family.

Eric Church Reveals How a Country Legend Helped Him Cope With His Brother’s Death in 2018

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 11:02pm

Eric Church is reflecting on the death of his younger brother Brandon and how he coped with the aftermath of his passing.

The country singer's brother died back in June 2018 after suffering multiple seizures that led to cardiac arrest, according to TMZ. An autopsy report later deemed it to be "consequences of chronic alcoholism." Brandon was just 36 at the time.

Looking back on that period during an episode of All There Is withAnderson Cooper, Church admitted that he "wasn't prepared" for how the death affected him and his family.

"When my brother died, I didn't comprehend that it's never going to be the same again — with my parents, with their relationship, with the whole family, the family dynamic. When my brother died, I wasn't prepared for that part," Church shared on the Feb. 19 episode.

But in the midst of their grieving process, Church says Vince Gill called him to give him wise words of advice.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

"Of all people, like two or three days after my brother died, Vince called me. And I didn't really know Vince very well. And he actually was the first one that said to me, 'You don't understand this now, but you're never going to be the same. Your mom and dad are never going to be the same. Your sister's never going to be the same. Y'all are never going to be the same as a unit,'" Church explained.

Gill went on to say that the quicker he understood that it wasn't "ever going to be the same," the "better you'll deal with it."

"At the time, I didn't get it. I was sitting there thinking, 'Well, it was grief. We've always been the family.' But looking back on it, he's exactly right," he said. "It never is the same. When something like that happens, it changes everything. And it becomes a new normal."

Biles’ influence extends far beyond the gymnastics floor. She recently made headlines at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, cheering on fellow American athletes.

Biles shared ESPN’s Instagram post celebrating the dominance of U.S. women at the Games, writing: "I know that's right 🤏🏾🤏🏾🤏🏾" in support of female athletes like figure skater Alyssa Liu and the gold-winning U.S. women’s hockey team.

During the games, Biles was a comforting presence for teammates and competitors alike. When men’s figure skater Ilia Malinin fell short of the podium, she offered personal encouragement.

“I did a couple bullet points and just sent it to him right away so he knew that he had support in a different aspect,” Biles said. “It was really heartbreaking.”

Off the mat, Biles has found a partner who shares her passion for athletic excellence. She married NFL safety Jonathan Owens in April 2023 after meeting him on a dating app in 2020. 'CIA' Series Premiere Ending Explained: 4 Major Questions After Episode 1 of the 'FBI' Spinoff

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 10:00pm

Meet TV's newest buddy comedy: an FBI spinoff that starts with an office full of people being violently poisoned.

Tom Ellis stars in CIA as Colin Glass, an unpredictable rule-averse CIA agent who teams up with a by-the-book FBI agent (Nick Gehlfuss) whose name is literally Bill Goodman. Glass needs the FBI to operate in New York, so Goodman is sent by FBI's Jubal Valentine (guest star Jeremy Sisto) to assist Glass with a counter-terrorism operation. It's a classic set-up for conflict and hijinks, and in fact, it's so classic that the show doesn't yet feel particularly new. It's a bit like CBS' grittier version of a USA show from the 2010s, which could turn out to be a compliment, because who didn't love the era of Psych, Burn Notice, White Collar, and Suits

At the very least, that first episode of CIA left me asking a lot of questions that I can't wait to see answered.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Is Colin just Lucifer in disguise?

Lucifer was just a role that Ellis played on TV for six seasons, or was it? Ellis embodied that character so completely that it feels like any other character he plays could just be Lucifer up to something. We don't yet know enough about Colin to see him as anything other than charming, mysterious, and a bit manipulative, but that's not typically how characters on these shows operate. Both Colin and Bill have surely been through some life-changing backstory that we will learn soon enough.

How does the FBI handle the rule-fudging of the CIA?

While we get a taste of friendship between the two agents, Bill is mostly totally thrown by how Colin operates. He's got assets who would normally be arrested for terrorism, and when they get injured, he takes them to a surgeon in the back of a pawn shop. The CIA takes surprise meetings in cars and saunas and makes decisions based on gut, so does Bill just have to approve their wild plans, or at least know about them in advance? Exactly how does this cooperation work, and how much do we even want to know about it before it gets unnecessarily boring?

What's the deal with the mole?

Of course, this can't just be a good-faith collaboration between the CIA and the FBI. At the end of the episode, Jubal tells Bill that a) he's now permanently assigned to the CIA/FBI fusion team, and b) there's a mole, and it's up to him to figure out who it is. So is the mole a CIA employee leaking FBI information, or CIA leaking CIA's own information? Who are they leaking to? What does Jubal know about it? If Bill is already having to get used to a world where nothing is by the book, how is he going to tell what's really not by the book?

Will they or won't they or are they not even thinking about it?

I cannot lie and say I never thought that Colin and Bill should think about kissing, which could just be because FBI fans are starved for romance. (See: the Scolina engagement and wedding, which took four seasons to happen, and only actually includes one regular FBI character.) It could also be because both Ellis and Gehlfuss are naturally charming on screen and have good chemistry with most other charming actors. And it could also be that Bill and Colin belong together forever, because opposites attract and sometimes enemies turn into lovers. It's hard to say just yet, but just in general, the FBI universe needs more kissing, and more emotional tension to go with its crimefighting. Ellis and Gehlfuss are both quite adept at longing, and it would be a waste to not let them do it.

It will all hopefully happen as the first season of CIA unfolds, Mondays at 10/9c on CBS.

Beloved '90s Actress Ranked Best 'Friends' Guest Star Ever

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:43pm

As any die-hard Friends fan can tell you, the iconic sitcom had some of the most memorable guest stars of any TV series in history. Viewers never knew when one of their favorite stars might pop up in an episode, but plenty of major names made appearances on the show throughout its 10-season run.

That's why Variety made a list ranking the comedy's 30 best guest stars, and the winners don't disappoint. Some of the picks weren't even huge stars yet when they were on the series, or at least, they weren't as massively famous as they would go on to become: When Jennifer Coolidge (ranked #30) played Monica and Phoebe's hilariously pretentious former friend Amanda she was known for movies like American Pie, A Mighty Wind, and Legally Blonde — but it was long before she would win two Emmys for her role on The White Lotus. Hugh Laurie (#28) was well-known to British audiences when he played Rachel's exasperated seatmate on her flight to London, but he hadn't yet become massively popular as the title character in House.

The top 10 included a mix of stars who made single episode appearances and those who had recurring roles, starting with Gary Oldman at #10 as Joey's inebriated, spit-happy World War II movie co-star Richard Crosby. Ninth place went to a joint appearance by Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, who played a pair of squabbling Central Perk customers, followed by Reese Witherspoon as Rachel's delightfully spoiled and scheming little sister Jill at #8.

Coming in at #7 was Bruce Willis in his Emmy-winning turn as Paul, the disapproving father of Ross' girlfriend (and Rachel's overly emotional love interest), while Hank Azaria took the #6 spot for his role as Phoebe's sweet, nerdy chemist boyfriend David. Kicking off the top five wasJulia Roberts, who made a cameo as Susie (a makeup artist who went to elementary school with Chandler and never stopped hating him), followed by Brad Pitt as Will, who went to high school with Rachel and never stopped hating her, either. (Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time of his appearance.)

In third place was Tom Selleck as Monica's older, nearly impossible-to-get-over boyfriend Dr. Richard Burke, while second place went to Paul Rudd as Phoebe's extremely lovable, piano-playing boyfriend-turned-husband Mike.

Ranked the best Friends guest star of all was Christina Applegate as Rachel's other sister, the hilariously self-absorbed Amy.

As Variety put it, "Both of her episodes are among the best in the show’s later years, and Applegate is a riot from start to finish. An Emmy-winner for the role, she is one of our greatest comedic actors — and Friends knew exactly how to showcase it."

Applegate's Emmy was well-deserved, no doubt about it. Years later, the Amy episodes — of which there were only two — just get funnier and funnier...after dozens (hundreds?) of viewings.

‘The Voice’ Contestant Reveals Surprising Connection to Elvis Presley

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:39pm

The Voice premiered its 29th season tonight with coaches Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and John Legend and it’s labeled The Voice: Battle of Champions as all three coaches have previously won at least one season.

Each coach will get 10 singers on their team to total 30 artists, a big drop from the 48 featured last season, but there will be a new twist. The coach that gets the most three-chair turn artists on their team will earn an advantage.

The coach who gets the most artists who’ve been awarded a three-chair turn earns a “Super Steal” for the Battles. This coveted prize can only be used once and trumps any other coach’s attempt to steal, guaranteeing a win.

The Voice Blind Auditions usually have a singer or two with an intriguing background and Monday night was no different as Bay Simpson shared in his video package that “my mom’s dad’s aunt Minnie Mae is Elvis Presley’s grandmother. As near as I can figure that makes the 26-year-old from Muscle Shoals, AL, Elvis’ second cousin once removed.

“I don’t know what that makes me, but I’m not making it up,” Bay says. “It’s really cool to be related to the King because I love rock ‘n’ roll. It’s like this spiritual thing that I need to carry the song somehow."

For his performance, rather than go with one of his cousin’s songs, Bay chose "The Waiting" by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers

View this post on Instagram

“To me, Tom Petty is the definition of rock ‘n’ roll,” Bay adds. “He’s on my Mount Rushmore of artists, so it’s really cool to be able to sing one of his songs on the show. I don’t have a backup plan, so this is a big moment for me.”

But it was also a nerve-wracking moment. Bay was at the very end of his performance before a single chair turned during the last few notes of the song. And that single-chair turn was Adam Levine.

“That wasn’t a sneaky move or anything like that,” Adam said, after Kelly explained that the two of them had been talking about it. “It seems sneaky as hell.”

“My mom’s a singer, my step-father is a hit songwriter, my dad’s a drummer, so I was always in studios as a kid,” Bay explained when John asked what it was like growing up in Muscle Shoals, which is a famous music hub.

“It’s in your bones,” Adam said. “The tone and the way you delivered the vocals really showed me an understanding of you know rock ‘n’ roll music. Knowing that you know it, is enough for me to be like, ‘This dude is awesome. He’s going to be different than anybody on the show.' I’m super happy that I snuck in and got you at the last minute and didn’t behave like an idiot. I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a lot of taste in common and I’m really excited to find out more.”

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.  Streams next day on Peacock.

‘Boy Meets World’ Star Rider Strong Reveals the Actor He Didn’t Want To Join the Cast

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:20pm

Boy Meets World saw plenty of cast changeups with guest stars and costars throughout the show's 7 seasons—but one actor who joined the series wasn't exactly welcome at first.

On a new episode ofthe Brotherly Love podcast, hosted by MatthewLawrence and his brothers, they spoke to Boy Meets World star Rider Strong about the early years of the show.

According to Strong, he wasn't thrilled when Lawrence joined the cast during season 5 to portray Jack Hunter, Shawn’s long-lost half-brother. Looking back, he said he was initially intimidated by Lawrence and his brother's careers.

"Before you got there, I would say all three of you guys were very intimidating...because you guys were like the established Hollywood people," Strong explained on the Feb. 20 episode. "You were the very successful set of brothers who had become superstars and done all this stuff. So for us, I think there was a sense of like, 'Oh God, the Lawrences are coming.'"

By the time Lawrence joined the cast, he had already appeared in Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Mrs. Doubtfire as well as his family's sitcomBrotherly Love on NBC.

“So when you came on set, I think there was this [question] like, 'What is he doing here? Does he even need to do this?'" Strong shared. "It sort of felt like you were being imposed on us...The network wants a Lawrence in our show and we were like, 'But we don't need him.'"

Strong was admittedly "against" Lawrence joining the cast and still found it "weird" when he started filming. But as time went on and the pair got to hang out together, Strong realized everything was "fine" and he had been reacting to the Lawrence's "reputation as a family" and "Hollywood establishment."

Lawrence ended up appearing on the final three seasons of Boy Meets World, which ended with season 7 in 2000.

HGTV Announces Return Date for Fan-Favorite Show After Recent Cancellations

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:03pm

The HGTV show Renovation Aloha will be back on the air in March 2026.

In a February 23 post on the official HGTV Instagram account, the premiere date of Renovation Aloha season 3 was announced. The upload featured a picture of the show's stars, husband-and-wife home renovators, Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama.

"#RenovationAloha is back! See Tristyn & Kamohai tackle their toughest Hawaii flips yet—from a property with a shocking lava‑tube discovery to a massive multi-home project in Hilo—on a new season starting Tuesday, March 31, at 8 pm ET/PT on HGTV," read the caption of the post.

Several fans flocked to the post's comments section to share that they were excited about Renovation Aloha's return.

"Yay!! I love your renovations and beautiful designs!! Very sweet family too!" wrote a commenter.

"Love this show so much and love their family!" added another.

"Yay!!!! We can’t wait. Wooo Hoo!!" shared a different person.

"It's about time! Can't wait!" stated a social media user.

Kamohai & Tristyn Kalama Said They Didn't Plan on Being HGTV Stars

While Renovation Aloha is officially coming back for another season, several HGTV series, like Married to Real Estate, Christina on the Coast,Izzie Does It, and Bargain Block, were canceled in 2025.

Renovation Aloha, which focuses on the Kalamas renovating homes in Oʻahu, Hawaii, premiered in February 2024. In an April 2024 interview on the Keep it Aloha podcast, Kamohai and Tristyn said they never intended to be television stars.

"It was never on the vision board, we literally just had our heads down and we were trying to build our little empire and impact as many people around us," said Kamohai during the interview.

Kamohai explained that their "peers and some real estate agents" had recommended them to HGTV when the network was "looking for a husband and wife team that does fix and flips developments on Oʻahu." He said while he thought the first email from the production company was a "scam," they eventually decided to take on the roles of HGTV personalities.

Savannah Guthrie’s Husband Reportedly Makes Emotional ‘Today’ Visit Amid Search for Nancy

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:01pm

Savannah Guthrie’sToday show family continues to rally around her family as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, stretches into its third week.

According to a source close to the family who spoke with Page Six on Monday, February 23, Savannah’s husband, Mike Feldman, recently made a quiet visit to the Today set to personally thank her colleagues for the overwhelming support they’ve shown over the last few weeks.

Feldman reportedly stopped by about two weeks ago, and the insider (who was present) called the meeting “very emotional.”

“There were a lot of tears,” the source shared to the outlet, explaining that Feldman went on behalf of his wife to express gratitude. “It was a large group and he went around and thanked everyone, and got a bunch of hugs.” The insider added that the Today team feels like “an extension of their family, and never more so than now. They’re more than coworkers. The tears were real”

Another source said, per the outlet, that from “the top of the company to the bottom – it’s gone beyond just a workplace.” Colleagues have reportedly offered to help in any way possible, asking if they can help with food or childcare

While Savannah remains off the air, with former co-anchor Hoda Kotbstepping in alongside Craig Melvin, the show has publicly honored Nancy. During the February 18 broadcast, Kotb and Melvin wore yellow ribbons in solidarity, and the studio was filled with yellow flowers—a tribute reportedly inspired by members of the Tucson, Arizona, community, where Nancy was taken from her home on February 1. Locals have also been placing yellow blooms around the city as a symbol of hope.

Though Savannah is “not in a position to respond to anyone right now because it’s too overwhelming,” the source said to the outlet, “she’s seeing the messages, and hears the prayers.”

Nancy’s investigation has drawn growing scrutiny. More than three weeks since her abduction, no suspects have been publicly identified and no major breakthroughs have been announced, prompting criticism from some within local law enforcement. Sgt. Aaron Cross, president of the Pima County Deputies Organization, claimed, “It is a common belief in this agency that this case has become an ego case for Sheriff Nanos.

Reports also indicate that the FBI is prepared to take over the case, but federal authorities cannot assume control unless the Guthrie family formally requests it.
