The One Rock Star Moment You Might Have Missed on ‘Gilmore Girls’
Gilmore Girls featured several rock star cameos during its seven-season run. Everyone from the Bangles to Sonic Youth to opening them singer Carole King made appearances on the beloved show. In addition, Skid Row rocker Sebastian Bach had a recurring role in the series, playing Gil, a sandwich shop owner and guitarist in Lane’s (Keiko Agena) band, Hep Alien, from 2003 to 2007.
But there’s one rock star cameo only eagle-eyed fans caught—and it’s a big one.
In the Season 7 episode “Will You Be My Lorelei Gilmore,” Rush legend Geddy Lee appeared as an extra at Lane's baby shower along with his daughter, Kyla, who was a superfan of the show. The legendary singer, bassist, and keyboardist can be seen in the final scene of the episode in a group shot of the party guests, but blink and you’ll miss him.
During an appearance on the I Smell Pop Culture podcast, Bach, now 57, revealed he has always been a Rush "fanatic,” and couldn’t believe when his hero Lee showed up on the Gilmore Girls set with his daughter.
“I came down there. We spent the afternoon together. We went to catering and got something to eat,” Bach recalled, before revealing he suggested to producers that Lee should make a cameo on the show while he was there.
“I go, 'If I'm in your show, that's wonderful, but you're crazy if you don't put him in the show,'” Bach said. “I can't remember who was directing that episode, but they came back and they said, 'Okay, go ask Geddy and his daughter if they want to be in the scene.' And I go, 'This is so surreal.' And also Sally Struthers was in that scene too. I was sitting there with Sally Struthers from All the Family and Geddy Lee of Rush, like how is this possible?”

Favorite 'Gilmore Girls' momentBach told Us Weekly that Lee’s cameo was his all-time favorite moment from his time on Gilmore Girls.
“My favorite Gilmore Girls memory was when the lead singer of Rush, Geddy Lee, came to the set with his daughter,” he said in 2016. “I’m the biggest Rush fan in the world, and I couldn’t believe it. I talked to the producers like, ‘You gotta get them in the show!’ So Helen Pai wrote a scene where Geddy and his daughter are in the background. You can’t really see them, but they’re there!”

Lee briefly addressed his Gilmore Girls cameo in an interview with ESPN as he talked about his love for o baseball. He noted that when he was on the set of the series, he was approached by actor Sean Gunn (Kirk on Gilmore Girls), who told Lee he was in his fantasy baseball league.
A past Rush referenceRush was one of the most iconic rock bands of the 1970s and ‘80s. The band’s late drummer, Neil Peart, was referenced on the Gilmore Girls series before Bach even joined the cast.
In a 2002 episode, “Help Wanted,” Lane discovered her passion for music when she spotted a drum set in the Stars Hollow music store.
“I have found my calling,” she told pal Rory (Alexis Bledel) in one scene. “I’m talking about my future, my path, my destiny, my thing, my scene, my bag. I’m talking about the number-one item on my cosmic to-do list. I’m gonna be a drummer … I am Keith Moon. I am Neil Peart. I am Rick Allen....I am rock ‘n’ roll, baby!”
As for his own real-life former band, Bach admitted he never wanted to hear Skid Row music on Gilmore Girls. “’18 and Life’ played when Lauren Graham [Lorelei Gilmore on the show] is driving in her car, which I found weird,” he shared. “I think it would take the viewer out of the experience. I’m Gil, this guy who owns a sub shop. I’m not Sebastian.”

Stephen King Found a Dead Friend's Email — and Finally Finished Their Unfinished Story
Stephen King and Peter Straub first met in 1977 at Brown's Hotel in London over beer. It was a friendship that would produce some of the most ambitious collaborative fiction in modern American horror. That partnership, cut short by Straub's death in 2022, is getting its final word.
On February 7, King unveiled the title, cover, and publishing details for Other Worlds Than These, the third and concluding novel in the Talisman trilogy. Scribner will publish the 624-page book on October 6. Two days after the announcement, Esquirereleased an exclusive first excerpt.
The road to this book is more than 20 years long. The Talisman appeared in 1984, following 12-year-old Jack Sawyer on a cross-country journey through parallel worlds to save his dying mother. The 2001 sequel, Black House, brought an adult Jack back (now a homicide detective who can "flip" between realities) and ended on a cliffhanger that had readers waiting ever since. King and Straub spent the next two decades announcing, postponing, and circling back to a third book, with schedules and health and other projects always intervening.
Then Straub died at 79 from complications of a broken hip. What saved the story was an old email. King found a message from his late friend containing the seed of a plot partly built around Charles Starkweather, the teenage spree killer who terrorized the Midwest in the late 1950s, when both men were boys. King carried that forward, consulted Straub's widow and children for their blessing, and began writing in early 2025.
'So far as it was possible, I wanted to collaborate with Peter,' King told Esquire. 'The seed was there, and I channeled Peter throughout like crazy.'
The book will be credited to both authors. It picks up Jack Sawyer's story again, pitting him against a gang of infected teenagers and the forces of something called the Gullet at the edge of Mid-World.
For readers of King's Dark Tower saga, that last detail matters. Other Worlds Than These is also a direct link with the Dark Tower universe. 'I wanted to go back to Mid-World, which was always the Territories by another name,' King has said.
Related: Will Stephen King’s 'The Mist' Remake Change That Devastating Ending?
King told Esquire the novel works as a standalone with no prior reading required. Whether that's entirely true will be debated the moment it lands, but the publisher and King himself are clearly aiming for reach beyond the existing fanbase.
Steven Spielberg has owned film rights to The Talisman since the 1980s. The Duffer Brothers, of Stranger Things, were once attached to a Netflixadaptation that never moved past development. What happens next with the IP now that the trilogy is finally complete is an open question.
The book is available for preorder now. Other Worlds Than These publishes October 6.
The Heartbreakingly Sweet Reason Peppa Pig’s Brother George is Trending: A Milestone in Muddy Puddles
A beloved preschool icon just delivered a sweet cultural milestone: Hasbro has announced a permanent evolution for the world of Peppa Pig, revealing that Peppa’s younger brother, George, is moderately deaf. This development is a deepening of a character who has been a household staple for two decades. By introducing George’s hearing loss, the brand is leaning into a legacy of representative storytelling that reflects the diverse reality of its global audience.
George’s story began with an immersive digital rollout. PEPPA PIG Tales on YouTube debuted content told from George’s specific audio perspective. These shorts offer a rare look at how a typical day can be a little trickier for a deaf child, while highlighting George’s resourcefulness and Peppa’s unwavering support.
“George has grown from Peppa’s curious little brother into a character with his own voice and experiences,” Esra Cafer, Hasbro’s SVP of Franchise Strategy and Management said in a statement. “As he enters this next phase of his development, we continue to celebrate joy, growth and confidence, reminding every child that there’s a place for them in Peppa’s world.”
In an era where representation is often promised but rarely delivered, Hasbro took a rigorous approach. The brand partnered with the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) and deaf executive producer Camilla Arnold, whose credits include Bridgerton and See Hear. Arnold’s expertise ensured that George’s experience was handled with the nuance the deaf community deserves.
“Authentic representation doesn’t happen by accident. True representation takes care and collaboration, and that’s exactly what we achieved with Hasbro,” added Arnold. “The result is a story that celebrates confidence, curiosity and belonging."
The narrative officially moves to the screen on Nickelodeon starting March 23 at 10 a.m. EST. In an episode titled “Hearing Test,” fans will follow the family to a routine doctor’s visit where George is fitted with his first hearing aid. Adding a layer of professional prestige, the audiologist is voiced by Jodie Ounsley, a TV personality and the first deaf female rugby player to represent England.
The emotional core of the season follows George as he discovers new sounds—ranging from the melody of an ice-cream van to the touching moment he says Peppa’s name for the very first time.
For our readers who appreciate the intersection of legacy brands and modern values, this move is a significant "vibe shift." George joins a cast that already includes Mandy Mouse (who uses a wheelchair) and Penny Polar Bear (who has two mothers).
As George Crockford, Chief Executive at the National Deaf Children’s Society, noted: “Introducing this storyline in a series as beloved as Peppa Pig is an important step toward creating a world where anything is possible for deaf children – a world where differences are celebrated and every deaf child feels seen, valued and included.”By treating a diagnosis as a beginning rather than an end, Peppa Pig is proving that the most influential stories are the ones that make everyone feel like they belong.
Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mom: Sheriff Says Latest Twist Is ‘Purely Speculative’
Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1, and authorities still have no identified a suspect or person of interest in the case.
More than a week after the FBI released photos and videos of a subject at Guthrie's front door, sources told reporters Brian Entin, Michael Ruiz, and others that the pictures were taken on two different nights. This suggests that the person at the home without a gun or a backpack could have been scoping things out prior to coming back to the home to carry out whatever he or she had planned.

Shortly after those reports surfaced, the Pima County Sheriff's Department issued a statement, calling the reports "purely speculative."
"We are aware that doorbell images released earlier in the investigation depict a suspect in different stages of attire, including with and without a backpack," the statement began. "There is no date or time stamp associated with these images. Therefore, any suggestion that the photographs were taken on different days is purely speculative."
"This remains an active and ongoing criminal investigation. As with any investigation, conclusions will be guided by verifiable evidence and established facts. Speculation, without factual support, does not advance the investigative process," the statement, signed by Sheriff Chris Nanos, concluded.
Authorities believe that Guthrie, 84, may have been abducted from her home in the middle of the night. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
The Heartbreaking ’90s TV Romance That Never Got Its Proper Goodbye
In the 1990s, television audiences were left feeling shortchanged when one of the decade’s most beloved series faded out with a whimper instead of the bang they had anticipated would continue.
My So-Called Life quietly slipped into television history after its final first-season episode. Fans were left heartbroken, longing for the storylines and characters that had captured their hearts.
Entertainment Weekly cited the 1994 series as one that ended on a major cliffhanger, with no resolution due to its cancellation. Elements of the beloved '90s teen drama were listed as unresolved for its viewers.
Jordan (Jared Leto) couldn’t find the words to apologize to Angela (Claire Danes) for cheating on her with Rayanne (A.J. Langer), so he got Brian (Devon Gummersall), who truly had feelings for Angela, to write a love letter on his behalf. Angela soon discovered the truth, but Brian denied it, leaving her caught in an emotional tug-of-war. At the season's end, she walked away with Jordan, but a lingering glance at Brian hinted that her heart may have been with him.

The series was a hit with younger viewers, who related to the teen drama's coming-of-age storylines. The characters behaved, dressed like, and spoke similarly to other '90s kids.
However, the series remained at the bottom of the Nielsen ratings, according to PEOPLE Magazine. Celebrating My So-Called Life's 30th anniversary in 2024, Danes said, “I think it was just so surprising to really enter the world of a teenage girl who was so earnest and so curious and thoughtful and sensitive."
The Los Angeles Times reported that the series's lack of success didn't lie in its audience but rather in its airtime schedule. The ABC series aired on Thursdays at 8 p.m., opposite NBC’s Mad About You and a new sitcom called Friends.

Taylor Tomlinson Told Her Agents Not to Worry: Then She Made This Special
Taylor Tomlinson spent years holding onto certain jokes, convinced she wasn't ready to tell them. On Tuesday, she finally did.
Prodigal Daughter, Tomlinson's fourth Netflixstand-up special, premiered overnight, and it's the most personal hour she's put on camera. Filmed at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the special leans directly into the religious upbringing she's circled around for most of her career. This time, she faces it head on.
'I know it's a lot of God stuff and a lot of gay stuff, and my agents are nervous,' she tells the audience near the top of the special.
Tomlinson, 32, grew up in Temecula, California, in a devout Christian family and began performing stand-up at 16, first in church basements, then coffee shops and school venues. Her mother died of cancer when she was eight. She left the faith gradually, then processed the fallout over years, in therapy and on stage. Some of that material she wrote long before she felt prepared to perform it. 'Jokes are kind of like outfits,' she told Rolling Stone. 'They have to be age-appropriate and make sense for how people see you.'

Prodigal Daughter is where those jokes finally found a home. The special covers coming out as bisexual in her 30s, religious trauma, her complicated relationship with death, and the results of growing up in abstinence culture. She also gets into dating, her dream assistant, and why Easter beats Christmas: 'It's where all our merch comes from.'
She directed the special herself and executive produced alongside Judi Marmel, Rachel Warden, and John Bravakis. It was filmed December 13, 2025, at Fountain Street Church.
The church venue for the show isn't ironic window dressing. In fact, in a lot of ways it's the whole point. She performed in rooms like it at 16. Coming back to one at 32, with this material, brings her full circle.
This is Tomlinson's fourth special for Netflix, following Quarter-Life Crisis (2020), Look At You (2022), and Have It All (2024), the last of which debuted at No. 1 on the platform. In 2023, she was the only woman in the top 10 of the year's highest-grossing comedy tours worldwide, performing 132 shows, more than any other comic in that group. She stepped away from After Midnight, her CBSlate-night show, in June 2025 after two seasons to return to stand-up.
'What I love about this special is I feel like it is kind of me in my final form,' she told Rolling Stone. 'This special, I feel, knows what it is and what it wants to say.'
Taylor Tomlinson: Prodigal Daughter is streaming now on Netflix.
Viral TikTok Dietitian Steph Grasso Drops First-Ever Cookbook — And Fans Are 'So Proud'
Anyone who has spent more than ten minutes on nutrition TikTok has almost certainly landed on Steph Grasso's page. The registered dietitian built a following of more than 2 million people by doing something refreshingly rare on the internet: telling the truth about food, making it funny, and never once asking anyone to give up carbs.
Now, she’s taking that same no-BS approach from the feed to the kitchen. On Tuesday, February 24, Grasso officially released her debut cookbook, Crave, Cook, Nourish.
While chatting with Forbes, Grasso explained what pushed her beyond clinical work and onto social media. “I shared my passion in the hospital, but I [would] only see 13 patients a day,” she said in a statement. “The fact that I had the opportunity to teach millions of people about nutrition, that was very motivating — especially when I started seeing comments saying, ‘You have helped me develop a healthier relationship with food. I’ve learned so much from you.’”
View this post on InstagramIt didn’t take long for the announcement to hit Instagram — and the comment section lit up instantly. “Ok queen 👑!!!!! Incredible 😍,” one fan wrote. “Congratulations Steph! You're beyond awesome! ❤️,” another added. “So proud of you! Congratulations ❤️❤️,” chimed in a third. “Love to see this!!! What an impact you've made 🔥,” someone else wrote.
For longtime followers, this moment has been building for years. In an August 2025 Instagram post announcing preorders, Grasso wrote, “I’VE BEEN WAITING 2 YEARS FOR THIS DAY!!!!!” adding that her “goal has always been simple: to help you eat what you crave — while nourishing what your body truly needs.”
View this post on InstagramThe finished book delivers exactly that. Packed with more than 80 recipes, from protein-forward breakfasts and flavor-packed bowls to nourishing mains and what she calls “doctored-up comfort classics,” Crave, Cook, Nourish doubles as a practical nutrition guide. “Beyond recipes, the book explores the roots and impact of diet culture and breaks down foundational nutrition principles in clear, digestible language,” the official press release states, adding that Grasso “provides practical guidance on grocery shopping, meal prep, and everyday kitchen strategies to make balanced eating feel achievable rather than overwhelming.”
For those just tuning in, Grasso, a registered dietitian from Oakton, Virginia, built a huge audience on social media after starting to post nutrition videos during the pandemic. Northern Virginia Magazine reported in 2022 that her first viral TikTok was about magnesium and that she had grown to 1.8 million followers on the platform.

Since then, she's become one of the most recognizable faces in digital wellness, with features on Good Morning America, ABC News with Linsey Davis, and The Rachael Ray Show.
The cookbook's release also comes alongside a full book tour Grasso — a collection of stops she described on Instagram as places that "shaped me, challenged me, and held me while I was becoming who I am today."
13 Best Clarifying Shampoos for 2026, Tested by Hairstylists
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
If your hair feels clean after washing but still looks dull, flat or somehow coated, you're dealing with buildup that regular shampoo can't touch. Product residue from serums, dry shampoo, hairspray and leave-in treatments accumulates on your hair shaft over time, along with hard water minerals, chlorine from swimming pools and environmental pollutants. The result? Well, it's not great: hair that feels heavy, won't hold a style, lacks shine and just looks tired no matter how often you wash it. But never fear! This is where clarifying shampoo comes in.
Understanding the difference between regular shampoo and clarifying formulas changes how you think about hair cleansing. Your daily shampoo is designed for maintenance—it removes light surface oils and dirt while preserving moisture balance and scalp comfort. Clarifying shampoo, on the other hand, is formulated for a complete reset. It uses stronger surfactants and often has a higher pH that encourages the cuticle to lift slightly, making it easier to dislodge heavy, waxy and sticky products that regular shampoo leaves behind. Think of your regular shampoo as daily face washing and clarifying shampoo as your weekly deep-cleansing mask.
The challenge with clarifying shampoos is using them correctly—too frequently and you'll strip your hair of natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle. Not frequently enough and buildup continues accumulating, making your hair products less effective and your hair increasingly difficult to style. The right frequency depends on your hair type, how many styling products you use and whether you're dealing with hard water. Fine hair that gets oily quickly might need weekly clarifying, while dry or curly hair might only need it monthly. But regardless of hair type, everyone benefits from the occasional deep cleanse that removes what regular shampooing misses.
We consulted professional hairstylists and trichologists to find out which clarifying shampoos actually deliver that fresh-start feeling without damaging hair. Here are their top picks for resetting your hair and scalp.

Clarifying shampoos go far deeper than your daily cleansing routine. They "deeply remove product buildup, excess oil, hard-water minerals and pollution. While regular shampoo is for maintenance, clarifying shampoo is for a reset," Rogerio Cavalcante, expert stylist and founder of Brazil Edition tells Parade. He tells clients that if hair feels clean but looks flat or dull, it's time to clarify.
Temur, premier hair colorist and stylist in Manhattan, gets more technical about how it works. "A clarifying shampoo is designed to deeply cleanse the hair and scalp, removing buildup from oils, styling products, hard water minerals and environmental pollutants that regular shampoos may leave behind," he says. "It uses stronger or more concentrated cleansing agents than everyday shampoos, which makes it effective for resetting the hair—but this means it is also more drying if overused."
Ladosha Wright, trichologist and RevAir's resident expert, explains the science behind the deep clean: "The magic of clarifying shampoos takes place in the bottle by way of ingredients. Many clarifying shampoos have more surfactants, which have effective scrubbing-like actions on heavier, waxier and stickier products," she notes.
She adds an important detail about pH: "When a shampoo is more alkaline, it encourages the cuticle to swell/lift a bit, which can make it easier to dislodge those heavy, waxy and sticky products."
The bottom line? Clarifying shampoo uses stronger cleansing agents to remove the buildup that regular shampoo can't touch. That said, it needs to be used strategically.

Your hair will tell you when it needs a deep cleanse if you know what to look for.
"If your hair feels heavy or kind of coated, your usual products aren't doing much anymore, your scalp gets oily really fast, your curls won't behave or your color just looks a little blah—those are all signs it's time to clarify," Cavalcante says.
"Common signs include hair feeling heavy, greasy or coated even after washing, lack of volume, dullness, curls losing their shape, color appearing less vibrant or scalp issues such as itchiness or flakes caused by buildup. If hair no longer responds well to styling products, that is also a strong indicator," Katie Brenner,Oli G global artistic director and hairstylist, tells Parade.
"The common signs someone needs a clarifying shampoo are a heavy, sticky feel on the hair that's commonly associated with using waxes to smooth edges, ponytails or braid extensions," Wright says. "Another indicator is when hair lacks movement, clumps together and loses its luster."
Monique McMahon, founder of Que Colour and pro ambassador for Christophe Robin, adds that blonde hair specifically benefits from clarifying. "A clarifying shampoo will stop your blonde from looking brassy. Blonde hair is very porous and more likely absorb pollution and products like spray tan," she notes.
The consensus? If your hair feels coated, looks dull, won't hold volume or your products aren't working like they used to, it's time to clarify.

How Often Should You Use a Clarifying Shampoo?Frequency depends on your hair type, product usage and water quality.
Cavalcante offers specific guidelines based on lifestyle, recommending:
- Most people: every one to three weeks
- Heavy product users or swimmers: weekly
- Very dry or damaged hair: every three to four weeks, followed by a mask and leave-in
"This depends on your hair type as well as the formula you're using," Temur explains. "In general, clarifying shampoo can be used once every one to four weeks. If you have very dry or curly hair, use it a little less frequently (maximum once per month), since clarifying shampoos can be drying to the hair."
"Our hair washing routine is very similar to our face cleansing routine. We use a favorite cleansing product daily and a face mask or exfoliator that we use once a week to gently deep clean our pores and stimulate skin cell renewal. Think of your clarifying shampoo—or treatment—as part of your weekly exfoliating ritual for your hair and scalp to get the same benefits," McMahon adds.
Are Clarifying Shampoos Good for Your Hair? When used correctly, clarifying shampoos are beneficial—but there's an important caveat.
"Clarifying itself isn't bad—skipping conditioning is," Cavalcante says. "I always pair it with a deep mask and a leave-in."
"Clarifying shampoos can be very beneficial when used correctly, but they can cause dryness or damage if overused. The key is moderation and following with a nourishing conditioner or mask to restore hydration." Temur says.
These shampoos are good for your hair and scalp because "they remove unwanted build up that can cause clogged follicles or block the hair from absorbing needed nutrients from regular shampoos and conditioners," says Gretchen Friese, Bosley MD/Keranique trichologist and hairstylist.

Cavalcante chose this as his best overall, as well as the best for colored hair. The color-safe formula uses a patented peptide technology to remove buildup without stripping color or causing damage. It's effective at removing product residue, hard water minerals and excess oil while the peptides actually help maintain hair strength during the cleansing process.
Unlike traditional clarifying shampoos that can leave hair feeling stripped, this maintains softness and manageability. Use it every one to two weeks for a complete reset.
Amazon
Both Cavalcante and Brenner recommend this specifically for curly and textured hair. The formula is designed to remove buildup without disrupting the curl pattern or leaving hair feeling dry and brittle. It gently clarifies while maintaining the moisture balance that curls desperately need.
The sulfate-free formula cleanses effectively without the harsh stripping that can make curly hair frizzy and unmanageable. It successfully removes product buildup from heavy styling creams, gels and oils that curly hair often requires. Follow with a deep conditioner to maintain curl definition and softness.
Neutrogena
Multiple experts love this affordable option. Cavalcante and Brenner both recommend it as the best drugstore clarifying shampoo. The simple, no-frills formula effectively removes up to 90% of heavy, dulling residue caused by styling products.
Despite being incredibly affordable, it delivers professional-level clarifying results. The gentle formula is mild enough to use weekly on most hair types. It's particularly effective for fine hair that gets weighed down easily by product buildup. For the price point, it's hard to beat the effectiveness.
Amazon
Cavalcante and Brenner both chose this for fine hair that needs clarifying without weight. The triple-action formula removes product buildup, pollution and heavy metals while being gentle enough for delicate, fine strands. It uses a patented Healthy Hair Molecule technology that removes impurities without stripping.
Fine hair tends to show buildup more obviously—it goes limp, loses volume and looks greasy quickly—and this formula addresses all those issues without leaving hair feeling stripped or dry. The lightweight cleansing is perfect for fine hair that needs thorough clarifying but can't handle anything too harsh.
Amazon
Temur specifically chose this color-safe option. "This color-safe clarifying shampoo deeply cleanses and purifies the scalp with thermal mud and red algae extract," he explains. "It also smooths the hair cuticle and helps protect against environmental damage."
The thermal mud draws out impurities while the red algae extract provides antioxidant protection. It removes buildup without fading color or leaving hair feeling stripped. The creamy texture feels luxurious and leaves colored hair looking vibrant and refreshed rather than dull and damaged.
Amazon
Cavalcante loves this for scalps that get oily quickly. The apple cider vinegar-based formula helps balance scalp pH while removing excess oil and product buildup.
It's particularly effective for oily scalps that produce sebum quickly, making hair look greasy within a day or two of washing. The chelating agents remove hard water minerals that can make oily hair look even worse. The lightweight formula thoroughly cleanses without over-stripping, which can actually trigger the scalp to produce even more oil. Use weekly to keep oily scalps balanced and fresh.
Amazon
Friese specifically chose this for natural hair textures. The bond-building clarifying treatment removes impurities while actually strengthening hair from within using Olaplex's patented technology. It's sulfate-free, which is crucial for natural hair that can't tolerate harsh surfactants.
The formula removes buildup from heavy oils, butters and styling products that natural hair often requires while maintaining moisture balance. Use it before installing braids or twists to ensure a clean, healthy foundation.

Cavalcante specifically recommends this for scalp issues. The charcoal-based formula draws out impurities, excess oil and buildup from the scalp while tea tree and peppermint oils soothe irritation. It's great for itchy, flaky or congested scalps that need serious detoxification.
The cooling sensation feels refreshing and the deep cleansing helps unclog hair follicles. Use it when your scalp feels irritated or you're experiencing flaking or excess oil production. The charcoal works like a magnet to pull out everything your scalp doesn't need.

Temur chose this specifically for mature hair that needs gentle but effective clarifying. "Oribe's clarifying shampoo uses volcanic ash to gently exfoliate and clarify the scalp, while sea kelp extract clears out pores and buildup," he explains. "This formula is gentle, yet effective."
Mature hair tends to be more delicate and can't tolerate harsh stripping, and this luxurious formula cleanses thoroughly while maintaining the moisture and strength that aging hair desperately needs. The volcanic ash provides gentle physical exfoliation that leaves hair feeling incredibly clean without any dryness.

Both Friese and Brenner recommend this for thick, coarse hair that accumulates serious buildup. Thick hair can handle more intensive cleansing and this formula delivers powerful clarifying action. It removes heavy product residue, hard water deposits and excess oil that thick hair tends to trap.
The name comes from the idea of using it once a week—on Sunday—as a weekly reset before starting fresh. It's the perfect option for thick hair that uses multiple styling products throughout the week. Follow with a rich conditioner or mask.

Cavalcante chose this as his best gentle formula pick. The sulfate-free clarifying shampoo uses natural surfactants derived from coconut to cleanse without harsh stripping. It's a good option for hair that needs deep cleansing but can't tolerate traditional sulfates.
The formula removes product buildup and excess oil while being gentle enough for sensitive scalps. The buckwheat extract helps detoxify while maintaining hair's natural moisture balance. It's proof that you can have effective clarifying without aggressive surfactants.
Amazon
Cavalcante loves this for serious product buildup. The super effective (and yet gentle and cruelty-free) formula is specifically designed to remove the heaviest styling product residue. Use it when your tresses feel truly coated and nothing else is cutting through the resin buildup.
Best Gentle Formula: Rahua Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo, $40Rahua
Brenner chose this as the best gentle option for those who need clarifying but have sensitive scalps or delicate hair. The plant-based formula uses natural ingredients like guayusa and palo santo to clarify without harsh chemicals.
It's gentle enough for frequent use while still being effective at removing buildup. The organic oils actually condition while cleansing, leaving hair soft rather than stripped. It's perfect for anyone who's been nervous about trying clarifying shampoo because they're worried about damage or dryness.

Disney Just Named a Marvel Legend the Official Godparent of Its Largest Ship Ever
Disney Cruise Line has made a splash with the announcement that Academy Award-winning actor and Disney Legend Robert Downey Jr. will serve as the official godparent of the Disney Adventure.
This appointment marks a significant milestone for the fleet's newest and largest ship, which is scheduled to begin its inaugural sailings from Singapore on March 10. As the first Disney vessel to be home-ported year-round in Asia, the ship represents a historic expansion for the brand.
The choice of Downey is a natural fit for a vessel that heavily features Marvel-themed experiences. His era-defining work as Tony Stark served as the bedrock of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a franchise that has redefined global box office records. While his decade-long run as Iron Man concluded with the historic success of Avengers: Endgame, his relationship with the studio continues to evolve; he was named a Disney Legend in 2019 and is set to return to the screen as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences and incoming CEO of The Walt Disney Company, expressed the company's pride in the selection. “Our new ship continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of bringing great stories to life at sea, and we are honored that Robert Downey Jr., who has guided audiences through unforgettable Marvel stories, is the official godparent for the Disney Adventure,” D’Amaro said.
The actor shared his enthusiasm for the role and the sheer scale of the 1,122-foot vessel. “It’s impossible to describe the majesty of the Adventure, and to be its godparent is an honor. As the largest ship in the Disney fleet, a gargantuan blessing must be bestowed … I’ll do my darndest,” Downey stated.

View this post on InstagramHis involvement highlights the ship's Marvel Landing zone, which boasts the Ironcycle Test Run. This 820-foot attraction is currently the longest roller coaster at sea.
Operating out of the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, the Disney Adventure is designed to be a standalone destination. It features seven themed zones, including Disney Imagination Garden, San Fransokyo Street and Toy Story Place.
With a capacity for approximately 6,700 guests and 2,500 crew members, the ship primarily offers 3- and 4-night "Magic at Sea" itineraries. These shorter voyages are tailored to allow guests maximum time to explore the massive onboard amenities. General bookings for the debut season opened on February 23, 2026, with initial sailings already seeing high demand.
One of Hollywood’s Most Beloved Films Began With a Studio Deal 88 Years Ago
While people everywhere know the story of a young girl from Kansas who gets swept away to the magical land of Oz in the beloved film The Wizard of Oz, most are unaware that it wouldn't have been able to come to the silver screen if Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) hadn't finalized the purchase of the story 88 years ago.
On Feb. 24, 1938, Variety reported on the deal that would play a significant role in film history, via CBS News, with MGM successfully buying the rights to the children's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum from another major film producer, Samuel Goldwyn. The deal was reportedly finalized a few days prior to the announcement.
The story had previously been adapted into a silent film in 1925, directed by Larry Semon, which removed all the fantasy elements. MGM considered doing the same, as fantasy movies hadn't proven to be that profitable yet. Thankfully, they didn't go with this idea and tried to stay faithful to the original story.
Once the script was completed, casting for The Wizard of Oz began, with Judy Garland getting the role of Dorothy. Ray Bolger played the Scarecrow, Jack Haley was the Tin Man, and Bert Lahr portrayed the Cowardly Lion, while Frank Morgan was the titular Wizard of Oz, and Billie Burke and Margaret Hamilton played Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.
The Wizard of Oz was filmed from late 1938 into early 1939, and it officially premiered in theaters on Aug. 10, 1939. The movie was a critical success, and the use of Technicolor in the movie, while not the first to do so, is seen as a historical moment in film.

The beloved film wasn't a box office success during its first run, due to the fact that the movie had a high production cost, as well as the cost of marketing, distribution, and other factors. This led to re-releases later on, including in 1949 and 1955, that officially earned the movie a profit.
The fantasy franchise of The Wizard of Oz has grown in the decades since the well-known film adaptation's release, with spinoffs, sequels and more coming out like The Wiz, Return to Oz, and Wicked, expanding the world many know and love.

How the Internet Killed Le Creuset’s Best-Kept Secret: 'People Had to Ruin It'
In the world of luxury cookware, Le Creuset is the ultimate status symbol—a heavy-duty flex that sits on your stovetop as a signal of domestic success. But for a dedicated subculture of "pot heads" and color-collectors, the real thrill wasn't just owning the cast iron; it was the hunt. Specifically, the hunt for the legendary Mystery Box at the brand's elusive Factory to Table (FTT) sales.
However, the flame has been turned down on that particular joy. Digital communities like Reddit are currently in a state of mourning following the realization that the high-value Mystery Box has been replaced by a much more modest "Mystery Gift." To the uninitiated, it’s a policy change. To the die-hards, “It Was Good While It Lasted.”
The ‘Golden Age’ of the $50 HaulFor years, the FTT sales were the stuff of legend, primarily due to the blind bag nature of the VIP shopping sessions. For a $50 add-on, shoppers were guaranteed a box of surprises that often defied logic in terms of retail value. “We had it so good! We didn’t even have a minimum purchase requirement when it started and the discounts were amazing,” shared one long-time enthusiast.
The contents were famously unpredictable, ranging from everyday spatulas to unicorn finds. As one user noted: “It seems to vary wildly. I’ve seen some people find pieces that are market limited, 3+ year retired rare pieces and pieces that are insanely discounted. Other times though it’s basically the same as an outlet. I will say if you love holiday pieces they seem to be plentiful at FTT in a way they aren’t always online/at local shops.”
The nostalgia is being fueled by the ones that got away. One shopper recounted a 2024 San Antonio win that sounds like a kitchen fairy tale: “My $50 mystery box (no minimum purchase required) consisted of 3 pieces of cast iron, all in Sea Salt: a 6.75 qt wide round dutch oven, square grill pan, and a bread oven. Plus a stoneware heritage pie dish. $50. I quickly traded them for 3 Cerise pieces: the oblong casserole, 6.75 qt wide round dutch oven, and 1.75 qt saucepan.”
Another couple shared a Philly haul that bordered on the absurd, totaling nearly a grand in product: “Our mystery boxes from philly a couple of years ago had almost 1000 dollars worth of product for 100... We got: 3.5qt wide round in nutmeg, Cassidu in cerise, Nonstick wok, Nonstick 10 inch skillet, 2 sets of Cambert dish, tray, and baker in merengue, One 5 qt meringue round dutch oven, A set of stoneware mixing bowls.”
Why the ‘Mystery Gift’ Doesn't Hit the SameThe new Surprise Gif" format requires a $300 minimum spend and offers only a single item, a contrast to the boxes that used to be “chock full of goodies.” The community consensus is that the magic has been replaced by math.
“The mystery box was $50 with a $150 purchase. It was guaranteed to have at least 1 cast iron item and valued at $350+. The mystery item just says 1 free gift with $300 purchase and has no guarantee. It could be a blue spatula for all we know,” one skeptical fan observed. Another added: “A mystery box was an amazing thing that had lots of goodies in it... The mystery gift is a single item, no minimum promised, with a $300 spend.”
Did Social Media Kill the Mystery? As with most best-kept secrets, the downfall may have been its own success. Some blame the viral "hacks" that took over TikTok. “Thank all the social media folks. They are the same ones that started the whole 'hack' of thrifting beat up pots and claiming warranty,” one user lamented, while another simply concluded, “People, as usual, had to ruin it.”
The 2026 Richmond Survival GuideIf you’re ready to brave the crowds for a Sea Salt miracle, the tour continues. The next FTT sale is officially descending upon the Greater Richmond Convention Center this spring. While the $1,000 box is gone, the chance for a retired rare piece still draws a crowd.
The Richmond 2026 Schedule:
- Thursday, March 26 & Friday, March 27: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM (Premier Sessions)
- Saturday, March 28: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (General Admission)
- Sunday, March 29: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (General Admission)
The Strategy: Premier Tickets are $20 and offer first access to the floor. If you're chasing the new Surprise Gift, remember it now requires that $300 threshold. For the rest, General Admission at $10 is the play. As one fan reflected, “At least I was able to get one epic mystery box before it all ended.”
Sebastian Bach Reveals How He Landed Iconic Role as Gil on ‘Gilmore Girls’
Sebastian Bach’s career has taken him all over. The former Skid Row frontman has gone from rock arenas to the Broadway stage to a recurring role on one of the most beloved television series of the 2000s, Gilmore Girls.
In a February 2026 interview with The Charismatic Voice podcast, the legendary rocker told host Elizabeth Zharoff that the creators of the beloved TV series came calling for him after his successful run in Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway. He credited all of the opportunities to Atlantic Records execs, who recognized that his voice transcended rock and roll.
“Atlantic Records was the label that put out all the Skid Row records with me,” Bach, 57, said on the podcast. “They're the ones that got me in Jekyll & Hyde … Frank Wildhorn, the composer, came to them and said, ‘We want a rock star to play Jekyll & Hyde.’ And I was their first call, and I couldn't believe it. I go, ‘Do you have the right phone number?’”
Bach said he was told by Atlantic Records executive Jason Flom that the way he sang the Skid Row classics "I Remember You” and “18 and Life” sounded like “Dr. Jekyll,” and the songs “Monkey Business” and “Youth Gone Wild” were “Mr. Hyde.”
Bach recalled Flom telling him, “They want two different voices in one guy. … That's you."
From Broadway to Stars HollowBach played Dr. Henry Jekyll in the Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde for four months, starting in June 2000, per Playbill. Gilmore Girls premiered on the WB in October 2000, just as Bach’s Broadway role ended.
On the podcast, Bach told Zharoff, “But then Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Dan Palladino, who write the show, they went to Atlantic Records and said, ‘We want a rock star on the Gilmore Girls. And they go, ‘Sebastian Bach.’ I go, ‘Cool.’ I guess I was the go-to guy for a couple years there. And so they called me on the phone. They couldn't believe that I was a Broadway actor. That impressed them big time there. Because obviously, on TV you can try it until you get it right. Broadway you get one shot, one shot. So they were very impressed by that. So that got me in the door. Broadway got me onto Gilmore Girls.”

Sebastian Bach was honored to appear on 'Gilmore Girls'Bach played Gil, a bandmate in Lane’s (Keiki Agena) rock band Hep Alien in 13 episodes of Gilmore Girls from 2003 to 2007. He also appeared in the show’s four-part revival, A Year in the Life, in 2016.
Speaking with Us Weekly, Bach said it was an "honor” to appear on Gilmore Girls. He also called out the Gwen Stefani song “Hollaback Girl” as his favorite tune Hep Alien performed on the show.
“Everybody thinks that’s hilarious,” he said. “When we did that shoot, the director, Dan Palladino, was like, ‘Hey, do you want to do a key lower because it’s Gwen Stefani and you’re a dude?’ I was like, ‘Who you talking to? We don’t change the keys! We don’t do that in Hep Alien! We do it in the original key. That’s the way we roll.’”
Bach looked back on his iconic career in a 2024 post on Facebook. “I consider myself so lucky to have the experiences that I have had in this life. Appearing on the TV show the @gilmoregirls was one of the highlights of my career,” he wrote. “The friendships that were made on this show are lifelong.”

I’m 45 and Officially Done with 'Average' Travel—My Soul Needed This One Luxury Weekend More Than Three Cheap Ones
When traveling as a cash-strapped college student and young adult, I often crashed on people’s couches and crammed into inexpensive hotel rooms with family and friends. Now, at the ripe age of 45, I can no longer go the cheap route. I value my personal space and peace of mind way too much to compromise my comfort.
That’s why I frequent properties that are synonymous with ease and luxury. A recent stay with my family of four at Acqualina Resort & Residences in South Florida met my needs and more.
Between its roomy accommodations and refined dining, this family-friendly luxury resort offered a lavish oceanfront escape tailor-made for a restorative three-day weekend. For me, paying more for the type of vacation that aligns with my standards and feeds my soul is worth every penny.
Here’s my honest review on my family’s multi-night stay at Acqualina Resort & Residences in Sunny Isle Beach.

Set on nearly five acres between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the sprawling property is Florida’s only hotel of its kind to be built completely open to the ocean, free of barriers between the 51-story tower and its 400 feet of glistening Atlantic shoreline. That unique detail sets it apart from other resorts I’ve visited. Being steps from the beach was a real treat for my tween and teen.
Plus, unlike other Miami resorts I’ve stayed at, there was a sense of serenity and tranquility. That’s the peace and quiet you get when you’re a 30-minute drive away from the throngs of tourists and glitterati that flock to South Beach’s splashy, buzzy scene.

The property boasts 98 guest rooms across several levels, including standard, one-bedroom suites, two-bedroom suites and three-bedroom suites.
My family and I stayed in a one-bedroom suite overlooking the ocean. There was an additional room with a daybed. As soon as my daughter saw it, she called dibs and immediately put her bags down. My son happily slept on the living room's pull-out sofa sleeper.
In addition to the expansive living room space, every suite features full gourmet kitchens with a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. Reminiscent of a Mediterranean villa, all guest rooms and suites have private terraces or balconies. Waking up to breathtaking views during our stay was one of the many highlights of our trip. One afternoon, we were lucky enough to witness a spectacular rainbow—its beauty so striking, it left us completely speechless.

My daughter, Ava, standing on our terrace.Overall, we appreciated the spaciousness of our suite. The kids had their own designated spaces and my husband, and I did too. We didn’t feel like we were on top of each other and had room to spread out and make ourselves at home.
Having a full, eat-in-kitchen is always a bonus when traveling with kids, especially if you tend to have leftovers. Plus, our suite also had a large, marble-clad bathroom with a bidet, which is always a welcomed amenity. There was also a decent size half-bathroom that the kids used.

With four distinctly different restaurants, guests have a variety of cuisines to choose from without leaving the property.
During our stay we grabbed lunch from Costa Grill. While the Floridian-Mediterranean eatery is ideal for beachside dining, an unexpected rain shower forced us to forgo al fresco and enjoy our meal in-room instead.
K
We also dined at Ke-hU, a Japanese restaurant serving traditional sushi and entrees like grilled ribeye and herb-crusted salmon. I had the latter, which was good, but a simple grilled option would’ve been more appetizing.
Taking a cue from New York’s celebrated dining scene, Acqualina features two Big Apple standouts: Il Mulino, famed for its Italian cuisine, and Avra Miami, the refined Greek hotspot with an outpost also in Beverly Hills.
In addition to restaurants, there’s also a gelato bar—a sweet way to cool down on sweltering days.

Family-friendly Activities Courtesy of Acqualina Resort & ResidencesCourtesy of Acqualina Resort & Residences
With three oceanfront swimming pools, there’s always an opportunity to take a dip. My kids are like fish and love to always be in the water, and this trip was no exception. When they weren’t swimming, they were playing foosball or ladder toss on the beach.
The resort also offers other activities like basketball, chess, soccer lessons and painting classes. If you’re traveling with younger children, there’s a kids’ club where they can do hands-on arts & crafts and play fun games to keep them active and entertained.
K
To unwind, I lounged by the pool under the crimson-colored umbrellas shielding myself from the sun rays while still getting a heavy dose of vitamin D. The pool attendants were some of the most attentive I’ve ever seen. They offered cool towels, frozen fruits, and tended to and anticipated our every need. That unparalleled level of service is what I want and expect with luxury resorts and Acqualina consistently delivered.
The SpaK
For me, a spa treatment is always the cherry on top of every luxury stay. My husband and I were excited to bask in the couples experience in the Royal Spa Treatment Suite. We were pampered with massages that relieved all our tension and stress. Plus, the salmon-colored Himalayan salt walls in the co-ed relaxation room were a nice, unexpected touch.
Following our treatments, we were handed chilled glasses of champagne and gourmet chocolates.
In addition to massages, the 20,000 square feet two-story spa offers a variety of rejuvenating treatments, restorative rituals, and healing spaces designed for guests to leave all their cares and worries behind. Plus, if you need your tresses styled, there’s also an onsite hair salon.
Getting ThereKarla
The location is the best of both worlds—at least when it comes to airports. It’s only 20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) and 30 minutes from Miami International Airport (MIA). We were advised to fly into FLL from NYC and we’re so glad we did. It’s significantly smaller and less congested than MIA. We had a seamless travel experience and would recommend flying into the airport, if possible.
’90s TV Icon’s Jaw-Dropping Confession About Dating John F. Kennedy Jr.
A 90s TV icon shared a jaw-dropping confession about dating John F. Kennedy Jr., claiming that she always felt she had to "apologize" for their relationship.
In a 1992 interview with The New York Times, Sarah Jessica Parker of Sex and the City fame, opened up about dating the handsome Kennedy heir. She said she was unprepared for the backlash that came with their roughly six-month relationship.
She called dating John Jr. "the Kennedy fiasco." The two initially met at a New York City theater, and he asked her out.
Parker soon realized that their relationship was being endlessly documented by tabloids. "We would go places where there wasn't a soul around, and the next day I'd see pictures of us there in the tabloids," she explained.

"I have been a semi-public person since Annie," she said of her 1979 breakout Broadway performance. "But I never had any idea what real fame was until I met John."
Parker added, "He's a nice man, but for God's sake, I feel like I should apologize for dating him. It has become the defining factor in the person I am."
The actress concluded, "It's pathetic. When I die, they are going to say, 'Oh, yeah, Sarah once dated John Kennedy.'"
In a 2018 interview for Bravo's late-night series Watch What Happens Live, Parker was asked by series host Andy Cohen, "What was it like to passionately kiss JFK Jr.?" She quipped, "What do you hope it was like?"
Cohen responded, "Everything." She nodded yes in response, saying, "Yes, it was pleasant."

The talk show host continued, "Did you run your hands through his hair?" Parker answered, "He had exquisite hair, it was like a paintbrush."
She concluded, "I feel if he were alive, I would feel more comfortable. If he were accomplishing all the things I am certain he would have accomplished and living a really joyful, adventurous life, I would probably feel more comfortable answering more questions about him."
John F. Kennedy Jr., 38, his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, 33, and her sisterLauren Bessette, 34, died in a plane crash in a plane piloted by Kennedy on July 16, 1999. Sarah Jessica Parker married Matthew Broderick in 1997.
People Who Constantly Overshare Develop These 6 (Surprisingly) Positive Traits
Have you ever left a party, packed up after a work day or waved goodbye after meeting new neighbors and suddenly started to feel self-conscious about what you revealed in one of your conversations? Immediately, your inner-critic takes over and you spend the next 30 minutes wondering when you'll finally learn to stop oversharing. But it's time for a reframe: opening up to others and sharing details about our lives, even certain tidbits that can be deemed "too much information" (TMI), can be a powerful strength.
While there are some personal topics that psychologists typically advise steering clear of, Leslie John, Harvard Business School professor and author of Revealing: The Underrated Power of Oversharing (out February 24), says that, in general, we should stop believing the myth that we'll scare people off with our vulnerability and transparency.
"We badly overestimate rejection," she tells Parade. "In studies and in my own work, people predict worst-case social fallout and are surprised by the actual responses."
Here, John shares two common reasons for "true" TMI, before sharing six positive traits of people who constantly overshare (hello, emotional intelligence!), four examples of when oversharing is often a better option than undersharing, what to do if you feel ashamed of revealing "too much" and so much more.
Related: 7 Subtle Signs You Might Be ‘Oversharing,’ a Psychologist Warns
Are you someone who leaves an interaction and just *knows* you went too far with oversharing? That go-to instinct of revealing personal information isn't all bad (as we'll talk about soon), but it can be problematic.
"TMI exists," John tells Parade. "But oversharing is usually less about what you say and more about how and when you say it: revealing too much to the wrong person, at the wrong time or without giving the other person a turn."
She explains that there are two common reasons why you might exit a conversation feeling this way:
"One form of oversharing is the 'Enough about me let’s talk about me' syndrome – i.e., when you say too much about yourself, without letting your conversational partner open up," John explains. "One reason for this? You’re trying to impress someone."
It's a pretty universal experience—even for John herself.
"I noticed this in my own dating life," she reveals. "In my mid-thirties I found myself single, and dating again. And what I noticed was that when I was really into someone I talked more about myself and asked fewer questions—exactly the opposite of what builds attraction. Wanting to impress can push you into one-sided revealing."
But it's not always about wanting to win someone else over. Sometimes, it's about your own discomfort.
"This syndrome can also manifest when you’re feeling anxious and trying to fill silence," she adds. "Resist the urge!"

"Another common form of oversharing is the failure to read the room, meaning you have not calibrated context," John tells Parade. "Revealing follows a Goldilocks principle. Too little can feel bland and forgettable. Too much can feel jarring. Just right so often depends on the audience and the moment."
Here's what this can look like:
"One of my favorite examples comes from the 1997 Miss Universe competition," she continues. "For the final question (the final round of the competition), the contestants were asked, 'If there were no rules for one day, and you could be outrageous, what would you do?' Miss Venezuela answered that she would spend the day traveling. Her response fell a little flat because it was somewhat bland. It was a classic case of TLI. Miss Trinidad and Tobago responded, 'I would not wear clothes.' That was TMI for a conservative beauty pageant crowd. In a different, looser social setting, it might have come across as excitingly candid and just right. But not there. Then Miss USA laughed and said: 'I would eat everything in the world! You do not understand. I would eat everything twice.' That answer was spontaneous, relatable and perfectly calibrated to the moment. She was just right, and she won."

6 Positive Traits of People Who Constantly Overshare"What we often call 'oversharing' is simply revealing, and revealers have some powerful strengths," John tells Parade, highlighting the following six traits:
1. They accelerate trust"When someone reveals something sensitive, they’re taking social risk… they’re literally showing the other person they trust them not to use that information against them," John explains. "In turn, we trust them back. And that’s pretty darn important because trust is the core building blocks of human relationships (which, in turn, are central to human flourishing)."

As John explains, "They are more apt to reveal their weaknesses, and this signals psychological security: you’re not invested in appearing flawless."
3. They create emotional permission"One person’s reveal often licenses others to open up—revealing begets revealing," she says.

John makes the point that anxiety can be reduced for everyone in the interaction.
"Naming what’s happening inside you tends to calm the nervous system; hiding emotions keeps them active and noisy," she shares.
As John explains, "That’s because putting thoughts and feelings into words requires self-knowledge and emotional literacy."

"In my research, I’ve found that the personality trait most strongly associated with revealing is agreeableness (basically, 'plays well with others')—not extraversion, as people often assume," John shares.

4 Instances When It's Better To Overshare Than UndershareAccording to John, there are a few instances when it's almost always better to overshare than undershare. "Think 'situations where the cost of silence is rising,'" she says, calling out these examples:
1. Close relationships"Daily sharing of feelings predicts relationship satisfaction; over time people stop sharing because they assume they already know one another, and that’s the trap," John warns.
She explains that too little information (TLI) is problematic in many different types of relationships.
"TLI is behind many of life’s missed opportunities… friendships that never deepen, romances that don’t spark, colleagues who never quite trust you…TLI stealthily erodes trust and closeness, and because we often don’t feel it as immediately and sharply [as TMI], we under-invest in preventing it. In fact, we often don’t even realize it’s a problem (like, until my book, we literally did not have a term for this, i.e. Too. Little. Information)."
"If a thought loops in your head, putting it into words—writing or telling a trusted person—helps your brain make sense of it and reduces its charge," she explains.
3. Small, recurring boundary violations"We often don’t speak up about these, because any given 'offense' is minor, and so we feel sometimes we’re being unreasonable for raising an issue," John says. "But the problem is that these can compound and bubble up into something worse if we don’t tell our partner say, that something they do really annoys us."
Here's personal example:
"A few months ago, my husband sheepishly, tentatively confessed that for years, it’s been driving him nuts how I put the toilet paper roll on 'the wrong way' (he likes the paper to flow over the roll, meanwhile I didn’t even realize there was a distinction!)," she shares. "Once he told me, he felt relieved and no longer grouchy after visiting the rest room!"

"Revealing gives the other person a chance to respond; silence yields no new data," she explains. "If you’re consistently the only one disclosing, that itself is diagnostic."
Ultimately, John isn't saying you should "tell everything."
Instead, "It’s: consider the cost of not saying something as carefully as you consider the cost of saying it," she stresses.

So many of us can relate to this experience—walking away from a conversation, replaying and overanalyzing everything that was said and feeling embarrassed by what was shared.
"Ah, the dreaded disclosure hangover!" John says. "First, don’t panic… it’s a normal, very human reaction to having been a bit vulnerable. That gut-wrenching feeling of having said too much is noisy, but it’s mostly noise in your own head."
Then, turn the dial in your head and think about it in a different way, if you can.
"Remind yourself that you’re likely exaggerating how long and how intensely others will replay your words (that’s a cognitive bias called 'impact bias'). Also remember that people can find something cringey and also admire you for having the guts to say it (and you usually only notice the cringe on their faces, not the admiration that follows)," John tells Parade.
Still squirming?
"If a comment truly seems to have landed badly, a short, genuine follow-up is often the simplest fix: pop by their desk, send a quick text or say, 'I’m worried I may have offended you. Can we talk?'" John suggests. "It’s not intuitive, but the antidote to disclosure hangovers is often to reveal a touch more… to clarify your intent, name the awkwardness or explain what you meant."
Ultimately, we're all human, and we're all just figuring it out.
As John explains, "Treat these moments as practice: revealing is a skill, and if you never feel slightly embarrassed now and then, you’re probably not stretching your range enough."

Why Does Oversharing Sometimes Feel Shameful? It may feel encouraging to some of us to hear about the strengths of people who overshare—but why does the aftermath of oversharing sometimes feel so uncomfortable?
"We’re culturally trained to 'keep private things private,'" John says. "Suppression often starts early and becomes a habit. A simpler, actionable reframe: feelings are information. When you share how something affected you—not just what happened—you give others the data they need to respond appropriately. That’s useful, not indulgent."
And if you continue to worry about how someone reacted to your words, she shares, "Candor functions as a filter… if a reasonable reveal causes someone to walk away, they probably weren’t the person for you anyway."

IKEA Fans Say This Food Market Find Should ‘Be Illegal’
Forget the flat-pack furniture and the impossible-to-pronounce bookshelves. The real drama at IKEA is currently unfolding in the food market, where a humble shortbread biscuit has sparked a digital frenzy. The KAFFEREP raspberry-filled cookies have amassed a cult following so intense that fans are calling for government intervention.
“These need to be illegal or else I'm going to eat them all,” one shopper posted to Reddit, triggering a wave of agreement that suggests these treats are the ultimate "main character" of the snack aisle. The conversation surrounding these cookies isn't about casual snacking—it’s about total surrender. Unlike your standard supermarket biscuit, the KAFFEREP has a reputation for disappearing in a single sitting. One devotee admitted the lack of restraint is a universal experience: “Dude I eat a whole sleeve of these in one sitting every time we go to ikea it’s crazy.”
The community cheered the snack section as a whole, but the conversation centered on the true MVP in the snack department. “I always get a few sleeves of them when I go. the chocolate ones are all well and good but THESE are where it's at,” another fan noted.

Is it the buttery shortbread? The tart raspberry jam? Some theorists believe the problem starts with the box itself. “The way the packaging on these is designed it's like they're encouraging you to just eat em all,” one user observed.
The obsession has even birthed its own terminology. Enter the "Purse Cookie." In a move that strikes a chord with busy parents everywhere, one user shared how these biscuits have become a high-stakes emotional currency: “I usually have them in my purse. My son calls them purses cookies and asks for them after a not great day at school.”
Part of the "illegal" allure is how easily these cookies can bypass a shopper’s budget logic. When a price drop hits, the fandom moves from "snacking" to "stockpiling." As one Redditor confessed, “these are literally my favorite snack ever. one time they were on sale for like 70c and I bought like 20.”
Whether they are being used as a reward after a grueling day of furniture shopping or being “SO good dipped in coffee or hot chocolate!” the KAFFEREP has transcended its status as a simple grocery item. It is now a pop culture staple for those in the know.
Just don’t say the internet didn’t warn you before you grab a sleeve (or five). As the community legend goes: “People don’t believe me when I warn them about these.”
