Marc Maron Still Has Nightmares About the Career Disaster That Nearly Broke Him

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 7:17am

For most stand-up comedians, bombing on stage is usually par for the course. But for Marc Maron, a disastrous early-career stand-up gig went so badly that it abruptly ended the show's scheduled run.

While headlining a series of shows in Australia in the early '90s, Maron realized he didn’t have enough material and struggled to connect with audiences, culminating in a painfully silent performance and his eventual dismissal from the gig. He says the experience shook his confidence, led to a relapse in his sobriety, and remains one of the most difficult moments of his career, something he described as "the f---ing worst."

His confidence wavered before the show even began when he arrived in town to find himself heavily hyped on a billboard. Already overwhelmed by being far from home, Maron felt unprepared and insecure. It also didn't help that he had to perform after two warm-up opening acts.

"The first time you deal with that, you're like, 'What the f--- are you doing? You're stopping the whole flow!'" he recalled on the Bombing podcast hosted by Eric Andre. "So I'm just sitting there, watching this show going, 'I'm f---ed. I'm so f---ed.' And I go out there the first night and struggle. It's okay, I stretch at the end, but it's okay. And I go through a whole week of previews where it's just getting worse and worse."

The minute Maron got on stage, it was all downhill, he recounted. "I get out there, I'm the headliner, and I'm smoking — you could smoke then — and some guy yells, 'Where'd you get that jacket,' and it was an American dude," he remembered. "And I was so f---ed up in my head confidence-wise that it just shut me down."

He added, "There was a point where all I could hear in a room full of 400 was the embers of my cigarette burning. It's not just a silence, there's like a suction to it. And I felt myself leave my body. It was literally like, 'I'm gonna go watch from over there.' And then I get off stage, and the owner comes up to me, and he has that look of someone who just saw an accident, he's like, 'Are you okay?' And I'm like, 'Yeah, I guess I'm okay.'"

He wasn't okay.

The following day, he got a call from the club owner, who suggested they end their contract and told Maron, "I think maybe you should just go home." Slightly relieved to not have to continue performing, Maron boarded a plane back home.

"I'd been sober for about a year, and on that plane ride back, totally f---in' got s---faced," he shared. "Totally relapsed. I just drank the whole way home."

McDonald’s Says Its New Menu Item Is Like All Your Favorites ‘In One’

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 7:15am

You pull up to the McDonald’s drive-thru window, but when it’s time to put in your order, you freeze: should you get a Big Mac? What about a Quarter Pounder instead?

The fast food giant says that with its new offering, you can get the best of both worlds. Beginning March 3, McDonald’s is rolling out the Big Arch burger, which it promises will deliver “a premium flavor experience” with a dream team of ingredients.

The brand’s biggest burger to date comes with two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of melted white cheddar cheese, pickles, lettuce, both crispy and slivered onions, all on toasted buns dotted with sesame and poppy seeds. And the pièce de résistance is something McDonald’s is calling a game-changer: the Big Arch sauce.

The tangy, creamy sauce combines sweet tomato, mustard, and pickle flavors that fans are begging to get their hands on. McDonald’s took to Instagram to get customers pumped about the upcoming menu item, writing, “it’s like all ur favorite mcd’s burgers in one burger. big arch out 3.3” as the caption to a video.

The post has overlaid text that initially reads, “Them: ‘What do you want on your burger?’” As the video plays, a Big Arch burger is constructed with additional overlaid text that reads, “Me: ‘Yes,’” before the complete burger is displayed with “Big Arch out 3/3” superimposed over the final image.

“This looks incredible,” wrote one enthusiastic fan in the comments as more agreed, writing, “She is beautiful to me,” and “I’ll take a 100 pls.”

“Best burger I’ve had at McDonalds,” said one commenter, a nod to the burger’s initial rollout in both Canadian and European markets. Additionally, it is already a permanent menu item in both Ireland and the U.K.

“We have it in Italy. It's Crazy good,” said one commenter, with another that is clearly on the same page, writing, “This is legit one of the best burgers they've ever made.”

Ryan Gosling's New Movie Has Celebs Calling It the Best Film of 2026 - and It's Not Even Out Yet

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 7:11am

Ryan Gosling's new movie has barely screened for anyone yet and it's already being called the best film of the year.

Project Hail Mary, the sci-fi drama opening March 20, drew a wave of celebrity reactions on February 24 after early private screenings. The verdict was unanimous, and the language people used was not subtle.

Frozen star Josh Gadposted to Instagram: 'Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the first masterpiece of 2026. I don't know how the hell they did it, but they have delivered a PERFECT adaptation of a book I thought was impossible to adapt. The novel is one of my all-time favorites and the movie somehow matches it pound for pound. See this movie on the biggest screen possible. Ryan Gosling has never been better.'

Jeff Bezos took to X the same day: 'Project Hail Mary is outstanding. Ryan Gosling is so talented he somehow conjures emotion and chemistry with his co-star, even though that co-star is an alien rock puppet. It's an amazing film.'

Project Hail Mary is outstanding. Ryan Gosling is so talented he somehow conjures emotion and chemistry with his co-star, even though that co-star is an alien rock puppet! It’s an amazing film — huge kudos to the whole Amazon Studios team. https://t.co/3cZKXbtOPX

— Jeff Bezos (@JeffBezos) February 24, 2026

Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchinocalled it 'an original, smart, human, and deeply moving film. And did I mention funny? One of those miracles of a movie you absolutely must see on a big screen.' Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch added: 'It's a weird, hilarious, joyful, dazzling gem of a movie. Ryan Gosling's chemistry with a puppet rock alien WILL make you cry.'

Related: 'Blade Runner 2099' Drops This Year: What We Know So Far

For anyone who hasn't heard of the film, here's what it's about. Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a middle-school science teacher who wakes up alone on a spacecraft millions of miles from Earth, with no memory of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns in fragments, he pieces together the stakes: a mysterious microorganism is consuming the sun's energy, Earth is headed toward extinction, and he was sent as humanity's last hope to stop it. Along the way, he discovers he's not entirely alone. His only companion is an alien he names Rocky, built using a combination of practical puppetry and CGI.

The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the duo behind The Lego Movie and the Spider-Verse films. It's based on the bestselling 2021 novel by Andy Weir, who also wrote The Martian, the book that became the 2015 Matt Damon film of the same name. The screenplay was written by Drew Goddard, who also adapted The Martian for the screen. As of January 2026, Weir's novel has appeared on the New York Times bestseller list for 28 consecutive weeks.

The book was very well received. 'Andrew Weir's Project Hail Mary,' one fan thread starts, 'is a masterpiece.'

The film runs 2 hours and 36 minutes and is rated PG-13. It was shot specifically for IMAX, and Amazon Prime members can access early screenings starting March 16 (four days before the wide release) through Fandango.

Why I Never Skip This Step When Booking a Cruise, From Someone Who's Sailed Over 100 Times

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 7:07am

Whether you’re a first time cruiser or a pro at sailing the high seas, there’s always something new to learn about cruise vacations. From deciding whether the drink package is worth it, scheduling dining reservations, getting to know the offerings of a new ship, and everything in between–there’s truly so much to think about. Enjoying a cruise is absolutely up to you to make it wonderful, and I’m here to help make sure that happens.

I worked as a performer on cruise ships for five years, and I’ve also gone on countless cruises as a passenger. It’s my favorite way to see the world, relax, and have fun. After spending so much time at sea, I’ve learned quite a bit about the ins and outs of cruising. When I finally “retired” from being a cruise ship performer, I decided to celebrate by going on a solo cruise throughout the Mediterranean. There’s something that I did right after I booked the cruise that changed the entire trajectory of my vacation, and trust me, you’re going to want to do it, too.

Join The Facebook Group For Your Specific Cruise Voyage

Once you book your cruise, go ahead and open Facebook. In the search bar, search for the cruise ship that you’ll be sailing on, and type in the dates of your voyage as well. There, you will find a Facebook group for your specific sailing. Most people in these groups are in the age range of about 40 to 60, however if you’re younger, don’t let that deter you. I joined the group for my solo Mediterranean cruise when I was 30 years old, and still found it to be very applicable to my time onboard.

Once I joined this group, I saw many conversations happening that helped me to plan my trip. Guests discussed all of the dining options onboard, and I was able to learn how certain restaurants stacked up against each other. Some passengers had been to the ports we were visiting, and were offering tips on the shore excursions that you could book through the cruise line, as well as sharing other options to do on your own. What I found most worth it, however, was connecting with fellow passengers around my age. I ended up finding two 30-year-old women who were also solo traveling in the group, and we ended up dining together several times throughout the trip. If it weren’t for the Facebook group, I don’t think we would have connected!

♬ Toy Story: You've Got A Friend In Me - Geek Music

A TikTok about a Facebook group for a Disney cruise went viral, where passengers all decided to wear the same shirt one evening. They all met up in the ship’s atrium, did a conga line, and connected over a silly, fun concept. This is just a simple example of how joining the Facebook group can make you feel more connected with the community on the ship.

Some Facebook groups are great, but some are just toxic. #cruise #cruisetok #royalcaribbean #msc #carnival

These groups aren’t run by the cruise line, but instead are created by fellow passengers. That makes it a great environment to get candid information about the ship from people who have sailed before. It also makes it an environment where people like to outwardly complain about certain situations that have happened to them onboard.

Unless you enjoy a little bit of drama (hey, I’m not judging) I highly recommend that you ignore those posts. Some people get easily drawn into the negativity, and you don’t want the opinions of others to negatively affect your experience onboard. Again, like I said before, your cruise vacation is what YOU make it–so only take in what serves you on these Facebook groups.

IKEA Is Selling a Lovely Lilac Storage Solution That's the Space-Saving Find You Didn’t Know You Needed

Not to get too dramatic or anything, but can we talk about the magic of wall-mounted storage for a second? When you realize your walls have been sitting there this whole time, just waiting to be useful, there are great storage options that can help them realize their full potential. Instead of cramming another bookshelf onto the floor (and making the room feel smaller in the process), you lift everything up. Instantly, the space feels lighter and cleaner.

And it's not just practical, it actually looks good. Wall-mounted storage lets you show off the things you love, like books, plants or a few favorite vases. It turns the organization into part of your décor instead of something you're trying to hide. Plus, keeping the floor clear makes vacuuming easier and makes your whole room feel more open.

EKET Wall-Mounted Storage Combination, Pale Lilac, $140 at IKEA

IKEA

All of this is why the IKEA EKET Wall-Mounted Storage Combo is so darn appealing. It makes your space work harder without looking like it's trying. And now this super functional combo comes in the prettiest pale lilac colorway.

Related: Shoppers Are Racing to Sam's Club for This 'Beautiful' Mahjong Set Celebrating Lunar New Year

The combo includes four individual storage cubes that hook together on the suspension rail to look like a cohesive unit. What's great is you can place it on the wall either vertically or horizontally—whichever fits best in your space. If lilac isn't your thing, there are other colorway options, including beige, dark gray-blue and walnut.

The unit comes with the aforementioned galvanized steel suspension rail for hanging, but you will need to purchase your own drywall anchors and screws separately. IKEA says screws aren't included with the storage combo because the kind you'll need depends on the type of wall you're attaching it to, which seems reasonable.

On top of that, the retailer won't commit to the storage unit's maximum weight because that also depends on the material of your walls. This might feel a little frustrating because you'll have to do a bit of fact-finding on your own to determine what kind of material your walls are made of and roughly how much weight they can support. Still, this cheerful lilac storage combo makes me want to put in the extra work, because it's just too pretty to pass up.

Zach Braff’s Net Worth in 2026: Inside His Massive 'Scrubs' Salary and Beyond

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 6:44am

Zach Braff is scrubbing in—and adding to his already impressive net worth! The 50-year-old actor will reprise his most famous—and most lucrative—role as John "J.D." Dorian on the ABC medical sitcomScrubs, more than 15 years after we last saw him in the Season 9 finale. (Scrubs ran for nine seasons from 2001 to 2010, at one point making Braff one of the highest-paid actors on television.)

For the long-awaited tenth season of the Bill Lawrence-created series, Braff will be joined by O.G. Scrubs stars Donald Faison (as J.D.'s best buddy Christopher Turk) and Sarah Chalke (as J.D.'s love interest Elliot Reid). Season 10 premieres on ABC on Wednesday, February 25, marking a major financial and career milestone for the star. (You'll also be able to stream Scrubs the next day on Hulu and with the Disney+ Hulu bundle.)

"To be honest, I was very surprised when it actually started happening that ABC was going to put it in prime time," Braff told The Los Angeles Times about the upcoming revival. "I thought it might be something on Hulu. That felt like a giant audience with Hulu the next day and a really big scale and really a belief in the project. That was really exciting."

He also pointed to Scrubs' "unique mix of comedy and pathos and emotion and fantasy" as reasons for its longevity over the past two decades. "It was so groundbreaking at the time. No one had done that in the network space," he told the outlet. "I think now the goal was...what’s a show that we can have on at 8 that pairs with Abbott Elementary that parents can watch with their kids? Maybe some jokes will fly over the kids’ heads, but it’s not trying to compete with what people are doing on streaming."

With Zach Braff back on our screens each week as Scrubs' J.D., here's what we know about the star's net worth in 2026, as well as a look back at his Hollywood career.

What is Zach Braff's net worth in 2026?

As of February 2026, Zach Braff's net worth is estimated at $20 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. That hefty sum is the accumulation of Braff's decades-spanning work as an actor, writer, producer and director—with most of his wealth generated primarily from his long-running role as John "J.D." Dorian on the doctor sitcom Scrubs. Braff will return to the series for its upcoming tenth season on February 25.

What is Zach Braff most famous for?

Along with his decade-plus performance as J.D. on Scrubs, Zach Braff is also known for the 2004 indie romance Garden State, which he wrote, directed and starred in opposite Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard and Ian Holm.

Elsewhere on the big screen, the New Jersey native also appeared in films like The Broken Hearts Club: A Romantic Comedy (2000), Chicken Little (2005), The Last Kiss (2006), The Ex (2006), Oz the Great and Powerful (2013), Wish I Was Here (2014, which he also directed), In Dubious Battle (2016) and the 2022 remake of Cheaper by the Dozen. How much was Zach Braff paid for Scrubs?

The exact financial figures for Braff's entire Scrubs run have not been publicized. However, in 2007, The Hollywood Reporterreported that the actor had inked a one-year contract with ABC that earned him $350,000 per episode in Season 7—a deal that made the star one of the highest-paid television actors at the time. That sum was a massive bump-up from Braff's rumored pay for earlier seasons of the sitcom, which was reportedly in the $75,000–$85,000 per episode range.

How much did Zach Braff make on Garden State?

Specific figures for exactly how much Braff personally took home from his cult-favorite flick Garden State are unknown. But given that the multi-hyphenate talent not only starred in, but also directed, wrote and compiled the dramedy's iconic soundtrack, he likely earned substantial profits off the Sundance darling. The indie film was made on a modest $2.5 million budget; it easily recouped that and then some when the title hit theaters in July 2004, grossing $35.8 million at the box office.

For his second directorial effort, 2014's Wish I Was Here, Braff turned to the aid of Kickstarter to get the film financed and received more than $3 million in crowdfunding. The move was a controversial one, with detractors pointing to Braff's own considerable fortune and clout within the industry.

Braff confronted those critics in a 2013 interview with The Hollywood Reporter: “There’s the Kickstarter financiers, there’s my own personal investment and then the difference will probably be met by pre-selling some minimal amount of foreign distribution,” he said. He also shared that his own investment into the project would be "a lot of money but I don’t know what it is yet because it will all depend on where we close on Kickstarter." The budget for the film ended up being between $5 million and $6 million; the film's total box office gross was roughly $5.5 million.

What is Zach Braff's highest-grossing movie?

Zach Braff's highest-grossing movie is the 2013 fantasy-adventure film Oz the Great and Powerful, which brought in $493.3 million at the global box office. Joining a cast that included James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Bill Cobbs, Braff voiced two roles in the film: Finley the winged monkey and Frank, the loyal yet long-suffering assistant of Franco's Oscar.

What awards has Zach Braff won?

For putting together Garden State's beloved soundtrack—which featured tracks from The Shins, Frou Frou, Coldplay and Iron & Wine, among others—Zach Braff won a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. He also garnered the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature—one he shared with Garden State co-producers Pamela Abdy, Gary Gilbert, Dan Halsted and Richard Klubeck.

As an actor, Braff has also received three Golden Globe nominations and a Primetime Emmy Award nod for his role as J.D. on Scrubs.

'Scrubs' Cast: Where Are They Now?

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 6:30am

Hospitals are a common setting for juicy TV dramas—Grey’s Anatomy, ER, Chicago Med, and many more—but they’re a far less common backdrop for sitcoms. Scrubs changed all that when it debuted on NBC in 2001 with a cast led by Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke. Created by Bill Lawrence, the series followed a group of employees at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital, with narration by Braff’s character, John “J.D.” Dorian. So, where is the cast now?

While the show ended in 2010, it's recently been given the revival treatment, with Season 10 premiering on ABC on Feb. 25, 2026. The series has always lived on in the hearts of fans—and for Braff and Faison, who remain best friends. In 2020, the duo started a Scrubs rewatch podcast called Fake Doctors, Real Friends, which features guest appearances from fellow actors and comedians as well as real doctors (like U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy).

“I think we showed dudes that it’s OK to be a little bit sensitive. It’s OK to be buds who say, ‘I love you,’” Faison told British GQin 2020 while discussing his and Braff’s onscreen relationship as J.D. and Turk. “For a really long time that was looked at as a bad thing. We might not be the original ‘bromance,’ but we’re definitely the best version of what a ‘bromance’ is because we’re very comfortable with each other. The machismo gets thrown out the window and we get to be who we really are.”

Braff, meanwhile, joked that he knew “at first sight” that his friendship with Faison was meant to be. “I was so nervous for the table read [for the first episode], and I knew who Donald was as an actor,” he recalled in the same interview. “And he turned around and gave me the warmest smile and a big hug, and then of course when we were shooting the pilot I could feel that we had really good timing together.”

Braff, Faison and Chalke star in the new revival season, alongside a few other Scrubs veterans in recurring and guest-starring roles.

Keep reading to see what the cast of Scrubs has been up to since leaving Sacred Heart.

This West Coast Beach Was Just Ranked 'Best Beach in America'

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 6:11am

TripAdvisor has released its 2026 Travelers Choice Award winners. These awards aim to celebrate both destinations and businesses that offer an amazing experience. These places are chosen through a 12-month period where ratings and reviews are collected, and within multiple categories, the ones that come out on top are given a Travelers Choice Award.

The Best of the Best Award is the highest honor given, with the winners being in the top 1% of listings on TripAdvisor. For the Best of the Best Beaches in the United States, La Jolla Cove came out on top. This beach is located in San Diego, California, and currently has a 4.6 star rating with close to 14,000 reviews.

Now, La Jolla Cove isn’t just like any other beach. The beach is surrounded by sandstone cliffs, which makes the waters very calm. This makes it an ideal beach to snorkel, kayak, paddle board, dive and more. If you head to the beach during low tide, you’ll get to experience crystal clear tide pools that customers rave about. If you’re not too into expending so much energy at the beach, there’s lots to see as you relax there as well.

La Jolla Cove is known for its large colonies of sea lions and harbor seals that are often seen hanging out near the waters edge, and are used to people taking in their activities day to day. Reviewers have shared experiences where they go to see the animals playing in the water, lounging on rocks, and interacting with each other. It’s better than any experience that you’d get in a zoo–as you get to witness the animals in their natural habitat.

The water is said to be a colorful mixture of deep blue and turquoise, creating a beautiful landscape to look at as you relax. Many reviewers suggest coming to the beach for either sunrise or sunset, as this area tends to have the most beautiful views for both. Plus, if you get hungry after an early morning or late beach stay, there are a ton of restaurants within walking distance from the beach.

What People Misunderstand About You, According to Birth Month

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 5:55am

Everyone forms a first impression, but not all of these quick judgments are just, balanced, or fair. People often assign personality traits based on initial encounters and quick assumptions. However, most of the time, these labels fail to capture a person's full complexity. Here’s a breakdown of common misunderstandings about each birth month, along with a brief mention of the zodiac influences that shape them. Each month has strengths that may be misconceived. Sometimes, what appears to be a flaw is merely depth, independence, or another trait presented in a different way.

How Is Each Birth Month Misunderstood?

They may take time to open up, but once they do, their loyalty is profound.

February - The Misconception: "Detached"

"Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”

Lawrence previously teased to Deadline that the tenth season would act as a “hybrid between a revival, revisiting original characters a decade and a half after the original series ended its run, and a reboot, revamping the original concept with new characters as the series is set to introduce new surgical interns.”

'Saturday Night Fever' Actor Dead at 86, Remembered for Scene-Stealing Role

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 5:38am

A beloved actor from the 1977 film classic Saturday Night Fever has died, leaving behind a performance that helped define one of the decade's most iconic films.

The groundbreaking drama, which starred John Travolta as Tony Manero, became a cultural phenomenon, capturing the pulse of 1970s Brooklyn nightlife and launching a disco-era soundtrack that topped charts worldwide. The film not only cemented Travolta’s status as a Hollywood leading man but also helped define an entire generation’s style and music.

While Travolta’s star-making turn remains central to the film’s legacy, fans also remember the supporting characters who gave the story its emotional weight and authenticity. One of these actors was Monti Rock III, who played the beloved DJ Monti at the disco the characters visited, The 2001 Odyssey.

Rock is best remembered from a scene where he calls out to Travolta and his fellow dancers. He says, “Hello, again! This is beautiful Monti, your delicious DJ!”

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Rock died at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. The site confirmed Rock's death via a longtime friend, Lucille Thaler. She added that he had been diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) in the years before his death.

Thaler also stated that in December 2024, Rock suffered a broken hip, for which he received surgery.

The Las Vegas Review featured a retrospective of Rock's career via YouTube, posted in 2020. In the series of video clips, the entertainer's Saturday Night Fever scene, as well as his numerous appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, are visible.

In an undated interview with the website Ultimate Classic Bands, Rock discussed his career, including his work with Disco-Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes, a disco group that had two hit singles, "Get Dancin'" (1974) and "I Wanna Dance Wit' Choo (Doo Dat Dance)" (1975), per AllMusic. The group later earned a lyrical nod from the Pet Shop Boys on their 1996 album Bilingual, with the song "Electricity" referencing them in the line, “It’s the greatest show with the best effects, since Disco Tex & the Sex-O-Lettes.”

To Ultimate Classic Rock, the entertainer claimed the group had sold “seven million records” and released three albums before Saturday Night Fever producer Robert Stigwood recruited him to appear in the now-classic film. Of his role in Saturday Night Fever, Rock said, "It made me legit in many ways. Robert Stigwood liked me basically."

He added, "It changed my life, actually. I had three years of premieres and talk shows, and I made a lot of money. I did a few other bad films."

Rock offered candid words of wisdom about his long career to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, reflecting that “the talent of surviving is a talent. Life has a way of, you either sink or swim. And I’ve been able to sink more times than swim. I’m the world’s most successful failure.”

Monti Rock III died on February 23, 2026. He was 86.

Only Song in History to Reach the Top 3 in 3 Different Decades — By 3 Different Artists

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 5:34am

Few songs in pop history are a hit one time. “The Loco-Motion” did it three times.

Written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, the track has now achieved something no other song ever has: it is the only title to appear three separate times on music journalist Fred Bronson’s authoritative “Top 3000 Songs of the Rock Era” ranking in his book "Billboard's Hottest Hot 100 Hits."

The song was originally recorded almost by accident by Little Eva—who had been babysitting for Goffin and King at the time—after what began as a simple demo unexpectedly turned into a breakout single.

The song first hit No. 1 in 1962 when Little Eva took it to No. 1 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart. Twelve years later, Grand Funk Railroad turned it into a guitar-driven rock anthem that also reached No. 1 in 1974 after producer Todd Rundgren reportedly encouraged the band to record it as a single when he heard them "messing around" with it. Then in 1988, Kylie Minogue’s pop version climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 after becoming a massive international hit.

That alone would make it unusual. But Bronson’s ranking system makes the achievement even more remarkable.

RELATED: 1971 Hit Ranked No. 1 ‘Greatest Song of All Time’ in New Book

How the ‘Top 3000 Songs of the Rock Era’ Works

Bronson, widely regarded as one of America’s leading chart historians, compiled the list by analyzing Billboard chart performance from 1955 through 2003.

Each week a song spent at No. 1 earned 100 points. A week at No. 2 earned 99 points, and so on down the chart. Additional bonus points were awarded for every week a song was No. 1, and only the time spent inside the Top 30 counted toward a song’s total.

The rankings were determined entirely by peak position and length of stay on the chart—not by sales totals, critical opinion or personal preference.

When all the numbers were added up, thousands of songs made the Top 3000. But only one appeared three times: “The Loco-Motion.”

On Bronson’s list:

  • Little Eva’s original ranks No. 754.
  • The Grand Funk Railroad version ranks No. 1026.
  • Kylie Minogue’s version ranks No. 1748.

Many songs appear twice on the master list. No songs appear three times.

RELATED: 1971 Smash Ranked One of the ‘Best Albums’ of All Time Still Holds a No. 1 Record 55 Years Later

A Rare Chart Feat Across Three Decades

Beyond the Top 3000 distinction, “The Loco-Motion” also made American chart history in another way. It reached the Top 3 in three different decades:

  • 1962 (Little Eva — No. 1)
  • 1974 (Grand Funk Railroad — No. 1)
  • 1988 (Kylie Minogue — No. 3)

Few songs have demonstrated that kind of generational elasticity. The track was only the second song of the rock era to hit No. 1 in America by two different musical acts. (The first was another Goffin and King composition, “Go Away Little Girl.”)

RELATED: Only Artist Ever to Have No. 1 Hits Before, During and After The Beatles Topped the Charts 50 Years Ago Today

The 1962 Little Eva version was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone ranked the song No. 359 on its original list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Even the legendary John Lennon took notice during a 1974 interview about current hits, saying of the then-smash hit Grand Funk Railroad version, “I like ‘Loco-Motion,’ thought that was a great record.”

More than six decades after its debut, the song remains one of the clearest examples of how chart performance, timing and reinvention can turn a simple dance tune into something close to immortal.

Three eras. Three chart runs. One record.

But here’s the good news: Tackling wardrobe chaos doesn’t have to be hard.

This Major Cruise Line is Debuting a First-of-its-Kind AI Attraction

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 5:25am

MSC Cruises is leaning into the future with a massive fleetwide entertainment refresh for 2026, headlined by a truly "first-of-its-kind" industry experience. The cruise line is officially introducing AI-powered robotic dogs and humanoid robots to its onboard lineup, marking a significant high-tech upgrade to the traditional guest experience.

Developed by Unitree Robotics, these tail-wagging and interactive additions are designed to serve as a destination attraction in their own right, appearing in meet-and-greets, theater productions, and themed parades. The pilot program for these advanced robotics is already underway in Asia aboard MSC Bellissima and is slated to join MSC Magnifica during its 2026 World Cruise.

Beyond just getting to see them live and in person, the initiative includes interactive workshops specifically designed to introduce children and teens to emerging technologies and the fundamentals of robotics. This move is part of a broader strategy to modernize how families engage with onboard programming, moving toward more immersive and digital experiences.

The leadership at MSC Cruises views this as a vital step in evolving with their audience. Matteo Mancini, MSC Cruises’ family entertainment development director, told Cruise Hive that the team is “fully focused on the future and is actively investing in the development of new, modern forms of entertainment, spanning digital and immersive experiences.”

By integrating these robots into family dance sessions and the daily schedule, the line aims to inject a new level of energy into the cruising experience.

In addition to the robotics rollout, the 2026 refresh will include an expansion of the LEGO Parade to 14 ships and the introduction of original game shows like "Chart Toppers" and "Quiz O’Clock" across the fleet.

Desi Arnaz’s 1976 Bestseller Is Back — And It Includes Previously Unpublished Writings

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 5:16am

Desi Arnaz’s long-out-of-print memoir, A Book, is back. The legendary bandleader and I Love Lucy star originally released his book in 1976. Fifty years later, an expanded edition has been announced by how daughter, Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill.

In a post to Instagram, Luckinbill shared the cover of the new edition of the book, with the caption, “We at Desilu, too LLC are so very proud to announce the Release of my father’s 1976 NY Times best-selling autobiography, A BOOK! This is also an ‘expanded’ edition with a variety of written materials culled from the papers he left behind and it is quite a read.”

Luckinbill also gave a “congratulations" to her dad, who died in 1986 at age 69.

The full title of the 50-year-old tell-all is A Book (Expanded Edition):  The Outspoken Memoirs of the Man Who ‘Loved Lucy’-And Revolutionized Television. A teaser reveals that the new edition features “Exclusive New Material with Commentary by Lucie Arnaz." The book includes 41 chapters with no titles and follows Arnaz's childhood in Cuba to his whirlwind romance with Lucille Ball to their I Love Lucy and television production fame and the aftermath of their devastating 1960 divorce.

A synopsis for the book reveals that the new print features additions from Arnaz’s uncompleted, never-published second memoir and new photos throughout.

Fifty years ago, Arnaz promoted his memoir with a rare appearance as guest host on the first season of Saturday Night Live. The February 21, 1976, appearance also featured Arnaz’s son, Desi Jr., and culminated with a conga line around the SNL studio.

Arnaz also turned up on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where the late-night host teased him about the two-word title of his book.

“Well, what do you want me to call it, A Pencil?” Arnaz cracked.

"No, I really was going crazy with all the titles that they suggest you know,” the TV legend continued.  “So you know you do a thing like this, I've never done a book in my life, and I never, don't even like to write letters. And when they asked me to do this thing, then towards the end they send you a thousand different things.  …when we have time, about an hour and a half one day, I'll read you the whole list. So I figured I just call  it what it is, A Book.”

Aldi's Folding Cutting Boards Are a Meal Prep Game Changer

Wed, 02/25/2026 - 5:05am

You may not be thinking about it, but something as basic as a cutting board can actually make or break your kitchen flow. Boards that are sturdy enough to chop away without puncturing are obviously a must, but they need to be easy to clean so you're not scrubbing for days. And maybe I'm asking for too much here, but a handle to hang them up is just "chef's kiss" for storage.

But the thing most of us overlook is flexibility. The kind where your cutting board actually bends a bit so you can funnel all those chopped onions, herbs or cubed veggies straight into your pot or pan without losing half of them on the counter. Wood cutting boards are beautiful, but they don't bend, and that can make meal prep a little trickier.

They give you the surface you need when you're prepping, and when it's time to transfer, they flex like a champ and make moving food feel effortless.

The large size of these cutting boards costs $4.99 and comes in three different colorways: blue (shown above), green and gray. But the same style of cutting boards is also available in a smaller size, two-pack for $4.99.

Each board features a textured handle with a hole so that you can hang it for easy access. And the nonslip material keeps it from sliding around your countertops as you work.

If you're a regular Aldi shopper, it goes without saying that the store is a mecca for anyone looking for convenient, affordable kitchen tools. For example, its $6 Food Prep Ball is kind of amazing for anyone who wants to slice and dice with ease. And Aldi's new comfort kitchen mats are a little treat for your feet while you cook and wash dishes. But if you're looking for something stylish to add to your cabinets, check out the Confetti Glassware that looks like something straight out of Sur la Table for a fraction of the price.
