Great Wolf Lodge’s Limited-Time Dessert Deeply Divides Fans: ‘I’m Calling the Cops’

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 11:00am

People who love ranch dressing can be very vocal about their love of the tangy dip  (remember when ranch fountains were a trend?), but some people think a new take on the buttermilk-based salad dressing from Great Wolf Lodge is going too far.

The resort chain, which boasts 22 locations across the United States, is leaning into the ranch craze with a limited-offering on its spring menu that’s not quite a snack or a dessert: it’s both.

A new ranch milkshake will be available at Great Wolf Lodge locations from March 5 through May 20, combining vanilla ice cream with ranch dressing. To further confuse taste buds, it will come with a sweet and salty lime rim and a whipped cream topping, all garnished with crispy chicken, carrots, and celery.

“Blurring the line between dessert and snack, it can be sipped (or gulped) like a shake or used as a dip, we won’t judge,” Great Wolf Lodge told Parade in a statement, sharing that on National Ranch Day, March 10, guests can snag their own ranch milkshake at any of the chain’s locations for $3.10.

Foodbeast shared images of the milkshake on Instagram, asking followers if they would try it, and comments were deeply divided. Some were solidly in the negative column, writing, “No why,” “absolutely not,” and one person going as far as to write, “i'm calling the cops” with a laughing emoji as another declared “JAIL” in all caps.

But others were open to the unexpected flavor pairing, commenting, “WHY DO I WANT TO TRY THIS” and “Fantastic give me 14 of em rn.”

“I would dip some pickles and French fries in it to eat, probably wouldn’t drink it straight up,” said one commenter who seemed willing to treat the offering as a dip, not a drink.

In addition to the ranch milkshake, more traditional menu items can be found at Great Wolf Lodge, like pizza, pasta, burgers, and sweet treats like ice cream.

1966 Classic Ranked Among Best ‘American Rock Songs’ of All Time Became a No. 1 Hit

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 10:51am

Few songs in rock history have a comeback story quite like Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence."

Originally recorded as an acoustic ballad and released on the duo's 1964 debut album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., the song initially went nowhere. The album failed commercially, and the partnership between Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel appeared to stall. Disappointed, Simon moved to London to pursue a solo career, believing the American chapter of the duo had quietly closed.

But the story was far from over.

In 1965, as folk rock surged in popularity thanks to electrified hits from artists like Bob Dylan and The Byrds, Columbia Records producer Tom Wilson saw potential in the overlooked track. Without Simon or Garfunkel's knowledge, Wilson overdubbed electric guitar, bass and drums onto the original acoustic recording, transforming the contemplative folk song into a radio-ready folk-rock anthem.

The gamble paid off.

The remixed version of "The Sound of Silence" began climbing the charts, eventually reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1966. By the time Simon learned of its success, the song was already a national hit and he quickly returned to the United States to reunite with Garfunkel.

The unexpected chart-topping success didn't just revive the duo; it reshaped their trajectory. The electrified version became the opening track on their 1966 album Sounds of Silence, launching a remarkable run that would include classics like "Mrs. Robinson," "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

Lyrically, "The Sound of Silence" captured the alienation and unease of the era. Its opening line, "Hello darkness, my old friend," remains one of the most recognizable introductions in rock history. The song's themes of isolation, communication breakdown and social unrest resonated deeply during a decade defined by political upheaval and cultural change.

"The Sound of Silence was the first song I wrote which seemed to come from some place that I didn’t inhabit," Simon said in a 2024 interview.

"At age 23, it was unusual, well beyond my age and abilities. Then it happened again throughout my writing. 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' was another song that came mysteriously. So did a lot of 'Graceland.' I wrote 'Slip Slidin' Away' in 20 minutes – usually it takes me a couple of months to get a song. There are other examples, like 'Darling Lorraine,' of songs that came from some place else... A mystery, you could call it."

Now ranked among the best "American rock songs" of all time by Ultimate Classic Rock, "The Sound of Silence" stands as both a product of its time and a timeless reflection of it.

What began as a commercial disappointment ultimately became a No. 1 hit and one of the most enduring songs in American music history.

Paramount Is Buying Warner Bros. Discovery — Here’s What It Means for HBO Max, CBS and Your Favorite Shows

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 10:51am

Paramount has announced plans to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery in a massive $110 billion deal that could reshape the streaming landscape.

The proposed merger, which has been unanimously approved by both companies’ boards and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 pending regulatory and shareholder approval, would combine some of the most recognizable brands in entertainment under one corporate umbrella.

That includes HBO Max, Paramount+, CBS, CNN, DC Studios, Nickelodeon, MTV, Warner Bros. Pictures, Showtime, and more.

So what does this actually mean for viewers?

Could HBO Max and Paramount+ Combine?

The companies say the goal is to create a stronger direct-to-consumer streaming competitor by uniting the strengths of both platforms. While no immediate changes have been announced, the long-term strategy appears focused on building a more powerful streaming offering that can better compete with Netflix and Disney.

That could eventually mean:

  • A bundled offering
  • A rebranded combined app
  • Or deeper content sharing across platforms

For now, both services are expected to continue operating as they do today.

What Happens to Major Franchises?

If the deal closes, the combined company would control an enormous portfolio of intellectual property, including:

In practical terms, this gives the merged company greater flexibility in how it develops sequels, spinoffs and streaming releases. It also strengthens its position in theatrical releases.

The companies say they are committed to releasing at least 30 theatrical films annually, with a minimum 45-day exclusive theatrical window before streaming availability.

What About Sports and News?

The merger would also unite significant sports rights under one roof, including the NFL, Olympics, NHL, UFC, Big Ten and Big 12 football, NCAA basketball and Champions League soccer.

News brands such as CBS News and CNN would also be part of the same corporate structure.

Will This Affect Jobs or Content?

Executives say the merger will generate more than $6 billion in synergies through technology integration and operational efficiencies. Historically, media mergers often result in restructuring and consolidation, though the companies emphasized their commitment to investing in both studios and creative talent.

The combined company would operate in more than 200 countries and control a film library of over 15,000 titles. It remains to be seen how much consolidation will happen.

When Would It Take Effect?

The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approval and a shareholder vote from Warner Bros. Discovery investors in spring 2026.

Until then, both companies will continue operating independently.

Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal's Relationship Was Strained by 'Envy,' She Admits

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 10:31am

Maggie Gyllenhaal andJake Gyllenhaal are both superstars in their own right, having been born to director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Achs and beginning to act as children. However, Jake got a little more famous a little faster, and Maggie admitted in a new interview that it put a strain on their sibling relationship.

"There absolutely is enough [work] to go around. But I don’t think I knew that at first, when I was young and Jake was a movie star right away," she told The New York Times on Feb. 28 while discussing her new film The Bride!. "I don’t think I was in touch with the envy, but it was there."

Though Maggie insists they've "never been estranged," as some fans have speculated, they've gotten closer in recent years. “In the past, I’ve had to be separate from my family, from my brother,” she said. “Like, cool, I’ve got my own thing going. We both started so young."

Now, she's happy to close that gap. "We’ve never been as close as we are now," she said. “We’re finally, maybe in the last five years, more and more and more, even each day, really interacting, which is hard for people to do.”

Part of that closeness may come from the fact that Maggie is now directing her brother in The Bride!, which features Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster, Jessie Buckley as the the bride of Frankenstein, and Jake as an actor named Ronnie Reed.

Maggie recalled the tense moment she asked her sibling to be a part of the film, saying, “I waited until I was absolutely sure that asking him to do this part was the right thing to do."

"I remember asking him and tearing up alone in this hotel room I was in, because it meant so much to me," she continued. "It meant so much for me to interact with him.” She added that the move "was just a really honest, vulnerable, what’s underneath rage, reaching out," because she "wanted to interact" with him.

To steel herself to do it, she had to remind herself that she wasn't "asking him to do something that he can’t do," but "making an offer, which is a generous thing to do.”

The Bride! is set to be released in theaters on March 6, 2026.

‘I’m an Endocrinologist—This Is the Worst Juice for Blood Sugar Spikes’

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 10:25am

The most frequently given tip for keeping blood sugar in a healthy range is to minimize added sugar intake. It's not the sweetest advice, but it can help you manage or prevent diseases like type 2 diabetes. From there, registered dietitians and endocrinologists will often suggest that people shop the perimeter at the grocery store to load up on fresh, whole foods.

In other words, you want to spend little to no time in the candy aisle. That's a good start, but not every item around the perimeter is blood sugar-friendly, even if it contains fruit. Notably, drinks are often in the refrigerated and frozen section on one end of the grocery store.

"Candy is easily recognized as something to avoid," says Dr. Jennifer Cheng, DO, the chief of endocrinology at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center. "People often forget about the things they are drinking and don't realize how much dissolved sugar is in drinks like fruit juices and sodas."

Also, you may feel pretty stuffed after having a baked good or candy. Not for as long as you would if you had an apple and Greek yogurt, maybe, but satisfied. Liquid sugars are a whole different ballgame. "Liquid sugars and calories do not give the same feeling of fullness as calories from solid foods," Dr. Cheng says.

She warns that sugar-sweetened beverages, such as juice, can also spike blood sugar levels, leading to immediate and long-term effects on your health. She says one ubiquitous juice in particular can send your blood sugar on a roller coaster. Scroll on for Dr. Cheng's pick for the worst juice for blood sugar spikes.

This Is the Worst Juice for Blood Sugar Spikes, Endocrinologist Warns

Oscar Wong/Getty Images

Orange juice has long been a breakfast table staple and is a popular ingredient in smoothies. However, Dr. Cheng warns that OJ's nutrient content and popularity make it the most problematic juice for blood sugar spikes.

"The body responds to the large sugar content in the orange juice," she says.

Orange juice has a moderate glycemic index, ranging from about 34 to 51, depending on the type you choose. It's not just about the added sugar in orange juice, though. The entire nutrition label matters.

"The juice lacks the fiber found in an orange," Dr. Cheng explains. "Its fiber content usually delays the absorption of sugars in the bloodstream when eaten."

For this reason, fiber is crucial for appetite regulation, as research consistently shows. "The body does not have the satiety signals, which can lead to overconsumption of calories throughout the day," she adds.

The lack of fiber also fast-tracks a rise in blood sugar. "The body responds by releasing more insulin to decrease or mitigate sugar spikes triggered by the high sugar drinks," Dr. Cheng adds. "Insulin from the pancreas helps place the sugar into cells."

As a result, you'll notice short and long-term changes to your body when you drink orange juice, especially consistently.

"One isolated sugar spike may cause you to feel tired and crave more sugar later," Dr. Cheng says. "A habit of drinking many sugary drinks and the resulting sugar spikes may lead to an increased risk of insulin resistance. This resistance can lead to abnormal glucose metabolism and eventually pre diabetes and diabetes."

Should I Stop Drinking Orange Juice?

"No, you do not need to stop drinking OJ completely," Dr. Cheng shares.

In fact, a 2025 study in Nutrition & Diabetes indicated that even people with well-controlled type 2 diabetes didn't experience issues managing their blood sugar after drinking orange juice. Plus, OJ generally has a lower glycemic index than other juices, such as mango (56) and papaya (50), but you're less likely to have those juices in your fridge.

Dr. Cheng says that sometimes it's medically necessary for people with type 2 diabetes to drink four ounces of orange juice if their blood sugar is dangerously low. Yet, the goal here is worth noting: to quickly increase sugars, which is why...

"Moderation is key," she emphasizes. "We have our patients with diabetes limit OJ intake unless their sugars are too low. "

OJ isn't all bad either.

"OJ does have vitamin C, it just needs to be consumed with care since it does cause higher sugars," Dr. Cheng states.

How To Keep Blood Sugar in Check (Even if You Love OJ)

One of the best ways to get the taste of orange juice without all the added sugar is to consume regular, juicy-as-heck oranges. "That’s so you get the fiber and other vitamins that may be stripped away during the processing of the orange juice," Dr. Cheng states.

If orange juice is a morning ritual for you, consider swapping it for a more blood sugar-friendly beverage. she suggests:

  • Water (some of her favorite add-ins to water include lemon, lime and mint)
  • Unsweetened green or black teas
  • Black coffee

If you can't squeeze orange juice out of your diet, consider portion size and what you're eating. "I recommend drinking 4 ounces of OJ paired with eating lean proteins and healthy fats to delay absorption of sugars," Dr. Cheng says.

Harry Styles Just Exposed His 'Boy Dinner' Routine, and We're Crying

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 10:25am

Celebrities, for the most part, live in a different universe. Red carpets, stadium tours, couture everything. So when one of the biggest pop stars on the planet casually reveals a dining habit that feels aggressively normal, the internet understandably spirals. This week's viral moment did not involve a fashion campaign or a surprise duet. It involved dinner. A very specific kind of dinner. And Harry Styles.

His admission has everything to do with the eternal debate between "girl dinner" and "boy dinner."

The 'Boy Dinner' Confession

During a February 2026 appearance on the YouTube series Royal Court, Harry Styles shared what he considers the ultimate "boy dinner." His answer? Eating a rotisserie chicken over the sink with his hands.

"Boy dinner, I've discovered, is just eating a rotisserie chicken over the sink," he told host Brittany Broski, describing the habit as having "caveman" energy. He also admitted he simply likes eating with his hands, adding that burgers and fast food are high on his list of favorites.

View this post on Instagram

Naturally, the internet lost it.

The idea of girl dinner has long been associated with snack plates, picky bits and low-effort comfort food. Boy dinner, according to Harry Styles, is far less curated. It is primal. It is efficient. It is you, a rotisserie chicken and absolutely no plate.

Fans immediately flooded social media with reactions. Some were shocked. Others felt deeply seen. There is something oddly comforting about knowing that a global superstar sometimes stands over the sink, tearing into a rotisserie chicken like the rest of us after a long day.

Costco Rotisserie Chicken Energy

Let's be honest. When most of us hear rotisserie chicken, we think of Costco. Costco's rotisserie chicken has become a cultural icon in its own right. It is affordable, reliable and almost always ends up in someone's cart, whether they planned on it or not.

Now imagine leaving Costco, getting home and skipping the carving board entirely. That is the boy dinner lifestyle.

Of course, longtime fans might remember that Harry Styles previously said he did not eat meat. The internet was quick to point out the change. But in this era of transparency, perhaps dietary evolution is just part of the journey.

Either way, the image of Harry Styles standing over a sink with a rotisserie chicken has officially entered pop culture history. Girl dinner walked so boy dinner could sprint barefoot through the kitchen at midnight.

11 Leave-in Conditioners That Transform Dry, Dull Hair, Tested by Stylists Themselves

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 10:15am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If your hair feels dry and tangly by midday (raises hand!), looks frizzy the moment you step outside (raises hand again!) or breaks when you brush it (both hands are in the hair now!), you're missing a crucial step in your hair care routine: leave-in conditioner.

Unlike the rinse-out conditioner you use in the shower that gets washed away after a few minutes, leave-in conditioner stays in your hair all day, continuously working to hydrate, protect and smooth. It's essentially your hair's daily support system: locking in moisture after washing, making styling easier and creating a protective barrier against heat, friction and environmental stress.

Understanding what makes leave-in conditioner different from regular conditioner changes how you think about hair care. Regular conditioner addresses immediate softness and detangling in the shower, then disappears down the drain. Leave-in conditioner continues working on damp or dry hair to maintain moisture balance, improve elasticity and protect against the real-life situations your hair faces daily (think: dry weather, heat styling, constant friction from coats and pillows, brushing damage, etc.). This ongoing protection is especially crucial for curly hair, color-treated strands, fine but fragile hair or anyone who regularly uses heat tools.

The leave-in market has evolved dramatically beyond basic spray formulas. Today's options include lightweight mists, rich creams, silky serums and hybrid primers that combine conditioning with heat protection up to 450°F. Yes, 450°F! The key is matching the formula weight to your hair type and needs. Fine hair requires ultra-lightweight formulas that hydrate without coating or weighing down, while thick, curly or coily hair benefits from richer creams that provide slip for detangling and ongoing moisture retention. The wrong formula can make fine hair look greasy or leave thick hair still feeling dry, while the right one transforms how your hair looks and behaves between washes.

We consulted hairstylists who work with all kinds of clients to find the best leave-in conditioners that actually deliver all-day hydration, protection and manageability. Here are their top picks for keeping hair healthy between washes from the experts.

Top Leave-in ConditionersWhat Do Leave-in Conditioners Do?

Leave-in conditioners provide ongoing benefits that rinse-out formulas simply can't deliver.

Rogerio Cavalcante, expert stylist and Brazil Edition founder, thinks of them as essential.

"They hydrate, detangle, control frizz and protect the hair all day long," he explains. "Think of them as your hair's daily support system—they lock in moisture after washing and make styling easier." He adds that he honestly never lets a client leave the chair without one.

Not only that, according to celebrity hairstylist Sami Knight, the benefits of leave-in last a very long time. It helps manage frizz, adds slip, reduces breakage from brushing or styling, and keeps hair hydrated through all the real-life situations, she says.

Do You Put Leave-in Conditioner on Wet or Dry Hair?

The experts agree that application timing makes a significant difference in results.

Sarah Potempa, celebrity hairstylist and founder of The Beachwaver Co., says to apply to damp, towel-dried hair after washing to lock in moisture.

Monique McMahon, founder of Que Colour and pro ambassador for Christophe Robin, agrees that you should use them after shampooing your hair and squeezing out any moisture. She recommends apply to mid lengths and ends.

McMahon adds that leave-ins can be used on dry hair between washes too. Potempa seconds this. In fact, when she's styling celebrity clients or models during fashion week, she'll also use a small amount of leave-in conditioner on dry hair to refresh the ends. She says this creates a smoother, more polished base.

Related: The One Hair Color Technique for Women Over 50 to Look Instantly Younger, Says Celebrity Colorist

How Often Should You Use Leave-in Conditioner?

Usage frequency depends on your hair type and how much damage or dryness you're dealing with.

"Every wash day is ideal," Cavalcante says. "If your hair is dry, curly or damaged, you can absolutely use it between washes too."

Temur, a hair colorist and stylist in Manhattan, agrees, explaining, "Thicker and textured hair types can use a leave-in conditioner every time they wash their hair, especially if the hair is dry, damaged or color-treated. Those with thin or fine hair don't typically need to use a leave-in conditioner, as a rinse-out conditioner is usually enough to moisturize the hair."

However, if fine hair types do choose to use a leave-in, he recommends using it every other wash day or every few wash days and applying it only on the mid-lengths and ends.

Knight recommends you use leave-in conditioner as often as your hair needs it. For some people that's every wash, for others it might be every few days, she says. "I tend to think of it less as a treatment and more as part of normal hair care, especially if your hair is colored, textured, fine but fragile, or exposed to heat and the elements."

The takeaway? Most people benefit from using leave-in after every wash, with fine hair using it less frequently or only on ends.

The 11 Best Leave-in Conditioners, Tested by HairstylistsBest Overall: Sachajuan Leave-In Conditioner, $40

Amazon

This was a favorite because it strikes the perfect balance of providing moisture and protection without weighing hair down. Cavalcante likes it for the lightweight formula that works beautifully across all hair types, from fine and delicate to thick and textured. It is made to strengthen and protect hair while adding body and manageability.

The versatile formula hydrates and smooths without any greasiness or heaviness, making it ideal for anyone who wants effective conditioning that won't compromise volume or movement. Apply to damp hair focusing on mid-lengths and ends for soft, protected hair that still has life and bounce.

Best Detangling: RevAir Hydrating Leave In Conditioner Spray, $28

Revair

Crystal Mallett-Williams, hairstylist and RevAir's resident expert, specifically recommends this for its superior detangling abilities. The spray format makes it easy to distribute evenly through tangled hair without pulling or causing breakage. It provides lightweight hydration while creating slip that makes combing through knots significantly easier.

The formula works beautifully on both wet and dry hair, making it perfect for refreshing and detangling between washes. It's great for thick, textured or curly hair that's prone to tangling after washing.

Best for Curly Hair: Milbon Curl Care Leave-In Treatment, $48

Milbon

Temur loves this specifically for curly and textured hair types. Infused with cuticle-enhancing technology and hydrolyzed silk, the formula is lightweight but provides deep hydration that curls desperately need. The silk proteins help define curl pattern while reducing frizz and adding shine.

It's particularly effective at maintaining moisture throughout the day without weighing curls down or leaving them crunchy. Apply to damp hair after washing and scrunch into curls for bouncy, defined results that last.

Best for Fine Hair: Epres Healthy Hair Conditioner, $38

Knight specifically chose this for fine hair because it's quat-free, meaning it doesn't coat the hair with heavy deposits that weigh down delicate strands over time. "Unlike most conditioners that just smooth the surface, Epres Healthy Hair Conditioner is actively repairing the hair even after it dries," she explains.

Since it doesn't coat with heavy deposits, it allows fine and thinning hair to finally use leave-in conditioner without the dreaded flatness. The formula actively bonds with hair without chemical buildup, leaving fine hair soft, manageable and bouncy rather than limp and greasy.

Best for Dry Hair: Amika Hydrorush Intense Moisture Leave In Spray, $28

Amazon

Mallett-Williams recommends this for seriously dry, thirsty hair that needs intensive hydration. The hyaluronic acid-infused formula delivers moisture deep into the hair shaft while the spray format ensures even distribution. It's great for dry, damaged or over-processed hair that feels brittle and straw-like.

The intense moisture formula doesn't weigh hair down despite its hydrating power. Use it generously on damp hair after washing or as a refresher on dry hair between washes to restore softness and manageability.

Best for Frizz: Living Proof Leave-In Conditioning Spray, $34

Amazon

Flower Avila, Oli G educator and hairstylist, loves this product's frizz-fighting abilities. The formula helps keep hair smooth and controlled, especially in humidity, which is when frizz tends to be worst. The formula blocks humidity from entering the hair shaft, preventing frizz before it starts. Apply to damp hair and let air dry or blow dry for sleek, smooth results that last all day.

Best Cream Formula: Brazil Edition Leave-in Treatment, $29

Brazil Edition

Cavalcante chose this as his best cream formula because it delivers rich conditioning in a texture that works beautifully across all hair types. The cream consistency provides better control during application than sprays or mists, allowing you to focus product exactly where you need it most. It hydrates, detangles, controls frizz and protects hair all day long without any greasiness or heavy buildup.

The multi-benefit cream formula means you don't need to layer multiple products—it handles hydration, protection and smoothing in one step. Apply to damp hair after washing, focusing on mid-lengths and ends for soft, manageable results.

Best Heat Protection: NULASTIN NuProtect Leave-In Primer, $32

Amazon

Temur calls this hybrid leave-in conditioner and primer an amazing multi-tasker. "It not only hydrates the hair, it also reduces breakage and frizz, adds shine and protects against heat damage up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit with clinically-backed results," he explains.

The formula works as both a conditioning treatment and a heat-protecting primer, which means you can skip layering multiple products. It's perfect for anyone who regularly uses blow dryers, flat irons or curling tools. The lightweight spray doesn't leave any residue but creates a serious protective barrier against thermal damage.

Best Spray Formula: Beachwaver Co. Luxe Leave-In, $25

Target

"Luxe Leave-In from Beachwaver Co. is a standout because it delivers deep conditioning in a lightweight, easy-to-use mist," Potempa explains. "The high-viscosity sprayer helps evenly distribute the hydrating formula throughout the hair for consistent coverage without weighing it down."

It's infused with the active strengthener HiX, which helps fortify hair while conditioning—leaving strands softer, stronger and more manageable. The mist format makes application quick and even, which is especially helpful when you're rushing through your routine.

Best Reparative: Olaplex No.5 Leave-in Moisturizer and Mend Conditioner, $32

Amazon

Mallett-Williams loves this cream formula for its reparative properties. The patented Olaplex bond-building technology actually repairs broken bonds in damaged hair while providing intensive moisture. It's particularly effective on bleached, colored or chemically treated hair that's become weakened and brittle.

The rich texture provides serious hydration without greasiness and works beautifully on thick, coarse or very dry hair. Apply to damp hair and work through to the ends for best results.

Best Budget: Garnier Fructis Silk and Shine Leave In Conditioner, $5

Amazon

Mallett-Williams chose this as the best budget option because it delivers effective conditioning and shine at an incredibly accessible price point. The lightweight formula detangles and smooths without weighing hair down or breaking the bank.

It's perfect for anyone who wants the benefits of leave-in conditioner without investing in expensive formulas. The silkening complex adds shine and smoothness while protecting against damage. Apply to damp hair after washing for all-day softness without spending a fortune.

Ethan Hawke Says the 25 Years Between His Oscar Nods Went ‘So Fast’

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:53am

Ethan Hawke landed his first Oscar nomination in 2001 for his portrayal of Jake Hoyt in Antoine Fuqua’s Training Day

Now, 25 years later, Hawke, 55, is nominated for Best Actor in Richard Linklater's Blue Moon. "I was the youngest in my category, and now I'm the oldest," the esteemed actor, who plays Lorenz Hart in the film, told People in an interview published on Saturday, February 28.

"And it happened so fast. It feels like six years ago that Training Day came out to me in my brain, so it's hard not to think about a lifetime spent doing this. I'm incredibly grateful to be here and to still be doing this dance because I enjoy it a lot, but it does make you think a lot about time,” Hawke added.

Hawke is nominated for Best Actor alongside Timothée Chalamet for Marty Supreme, Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, and Wagner Moura for The Secret Agent.

Looking back on Training Day, Hawke acknowledges how blessed he was to act alongside Denzel Washington

"I was having a great time in 2001. I don't know if I needed a lot of advice. I knew how fortunate I was to be there, to get to do this whole event with Denzel,” he said. “He's one of the greatest actors who've ever lived, and so to get to ride shotgun — that wasn't lost on me what a special experience that was."

The Oscars, hosted by Conan O’Brien, air live on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. ET. You can watch the awards show on ABC or stream it on Hulu.

'80s Rock Superstar Eyes Long-Awaited Honor in 50th Anniversary Year

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:42am

Billy Idol hopes to have two reasons to celebrate in 2026. The music icon, who was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the second year in a row, told Billboard the nod is even more meaningful this time around.

“It’s really exciting,” Idol, 70, said in February 2026. “It would be incredible this year. This is 50 years ago when I started (with the band Generation X), so it would be really incredible.”

“It would cap off an amazing 50 years,” the rocker added. “When I walked through that door, that punk rock opened up, you really didn’t know if you’ve got the goods; only over time, you see, I really did have the goods, and I think the songs I’ve made are lasting, the recordings are still good. And I had great people around me to get to where I wanted to go.”

Idol formed the punk rock band Generation X in London in 1976. The band released the albums Generation X (1978), Valley Of The Dolls (’79), and Kiss Me Deadly (’81), the latter of which featured an early version of Idol’s later solo hit “Dancing With Myself.” As a solo artist, Idol found massive fame with the ‘80s hits “White  Wedding,” “Rebel Yell,” and "Eyes Without a Face,” which were all fueled by the rise of MTV.

Speaking with Billboard, Idol noted that it is “unusual” to be inducted into the Rock Hall upon the first nomination. “It’s a process, and I can see why,” he added. “There’s quite a large number of people involved in deciding who gets in. It’s no guarantee.”

In addition to Idol, nominees for the class of 2026 for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame include Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, and 13 more.

When he was originally nominated for the honor last February, Idol told Ultimate Classic Rock that he was "knocked out" to receive his first nomination.

"It's a great honor," he said at the time. "If I do get to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, you really get a chance to thank your fans. That's what I like about it. You know, you get a chance to really thank everybody who supported you through thick and thin. So that's an incredible honor."

Legendary Rock Band Has Fans 'Excited' For New Album After 'Masterpiece' Single: 'This Is What's Been Missing'

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:30am

Shinedown is possibly one of the hardest-working current bands. Despite spending most of 2025 on tour and hitting several music festivals, they recently announced the release date of their eighth studio album and a new tour.

The legendary band will be dropping their latest album, aptly titled EI8HT, on Friday, May 29, 2026. EI8HT has 18 tracks, several of which the band has already released as singles, including "Safe And Sound," "Searchlight," "Killing Fields," "Three Six Five," and "Dance, Kid, Dance" which also served as the name of their last tour.

To promote the new album, they are headed back out on the road as well, for a 54-show tour that will see them perform in 11 countries.

The Dance Kid Dance Act II World Tour will start on May 13, 2026, in Green Bay, WI, at the Resch Center and run through November 2026.

Along with the new album announcement, Shinedown dropped a new single, "Safe and Sound," that has created quite a bit of buzz as fans share their excitement for new music.

One thing that can be said about this new album is that it will have something for every Shinedown fan with songs that vary from heavier rock like "Safe and Sound" to obvious arena hits like "Three Six Five," and even the Southern rock sound of "Searchlight."

One dedicated fan was found gushing over lead singer Brent Smith in the comments when they wrote, "this dudes voice is just unbelievable.. shinedown never disappointed."

"This is very Sound of Madness and I'm loving it, excited to see how the whole album comes together!!" another wrote.

A third Shinedown fan called this song, "Another masterpiece by Shinedown!!!!"

Others commented on how "Safe and Sound" sounds like some of the older Shinedown songs, with one suggesting it had pre-2010 vibes and another declaring, "This is what's been missing the past few years - loud and banging."

The 'Brat Pack' Members Ranked by Net Worth in 2026, From Lowest to Highest

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:30am

The "Brat Pack" is a term coined by a 1985 New York Magazinearticle, referring to the up-and-coming young actors who starred in ‘80s hits like The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo’s Fire.

“[The Brat Pack] is to the 1980s what the Rat Pack was to the 1960s,” wrote the article's author, David Blum. The members were quickly taking over the movie industry. The reign of serious Hollywood sagas like The Godfather was coming to an end, and a new kind of film was born—one that featured hot 20-somethings playing out all the angst and drama of growing up.

“Suddenly Hollywood realized kids go to the movies way more than adults,” Brat Pack member Andrew McCarthy explained in a Peopleinterview.

The nickname stuck, not only to McCarthy but to seven other ‘80s actors. While they didn’t always appear in films together, they were popular faces of the cultural zeitgeist, and their careers certainly didn’t suffer from it.

Here’s a look at the members of the Brat Pack, ranked by net worth, and what they’re up to now.

While Ally Sheedy may not be the richest member of the Brat Pack, she has had her share of Hollywood success. Best known for her roles as Allison Reynolds in The Breakfast Club and Leslie Hunter in St. Elmo’s Fire, Sheedy acted in a number of other ‘80s movies, including WarGames, Oxford Blues, Short Circuit and Maid to Order.

Though she doesn’t have a ton of recent credits, she did star in the Freeform show Single Drunk Female, in which she reunited with former co-star Molly Ringwald for one episode. She also teamed up with Ringwald for the 30th anniversary of The Breakfast Club in 2015.

Anthony Michael Hall's net worth: $4 million Anthony Michael Hall

Anthony Michael Hall lived up to his Brat Pack status with the ‘80s movies Six Pack, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science and Johnny Be Good. He was young—only 14 in his breakout role in Six Pack—and quickly typecast as the nerdy nice guy. He also became the youngest-ever cast member of Saturday Night Livein 1985.

In the ‘90s, he successfully broke away from his typecast, snagging a role in the 1990 hit Edward Scissorhands. He’s continued to act since then, with roles in movies like The Dark Knight and TV shows The Dead Zone, The Goldbergs and Reacher.

Judd Nelson's net worth: $4 million Judd Nelson

Judd Nelson played everyone’s favorite bad boy in The Breakfast Club, but that wasn’t his only ‘80s movie moment. He also acted in Making the Grade, St. Elmo’s Fire, The Transformers: The Movie, From the Hip and Relentless.

Nelson continued to act through the ‘90s, starring in the sitcom Suddenly Susan opposite Brooke Shields and the movie Hail Caesar alongside fellow Brat Pack member Anthony Michael Hall. Though he’s had less commercial success since the 2000s, he revived his Transformers role via voice acting and was in the 2022 film The Most Dangerous Game.

Molly Ringwald's net worth: $11 million Molly Ringwald

Ringwald was the good girl to Nelson’s bad boy in The Breakfast Club, and also starred in the classics Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink. Her other ‘80s credits include The Pick-up Artist, For Keeps and Fresh Horses.

Although she rose to prominence in her John Hughes films, Ringwald was a child actress who’d been in the sitcoms Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life. Much in the same way, her career continued after the ‘80s peak wore off. In the late ‘90s she moved to Paris and starred in several French films, and has appeared in more recent American shows like The Secret Life of an American Teenager, Riverdale, The Bear and Feud: Capote vs. The Swans

Andrew McCarthy's net worth: $12 million Andrew McCarthy

Photo by FOX via Getty Images

McCarthy’s impressive ‘80s filmography includes the films Class, Heaven Help Us, St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, Mannequin and Weekend at Bernie’s. And while he undoubtedly made a good living from acting, he also made a name for himself as a TV director (with credits on Gossip Girls, Orange Is the New Black, Good Girls and more) and a travel writer for National Geographic.

In 2021, McCarthy released his memoir, Brat Pack: An ‘80s Story, and he followed that up with a Hulu documentary about the Brat Pack experience, Brats, released in 2024.

Emilio Estevez's net worth: $18 million Emilio Estevez

Photo by: Nathan Congleton/NBC via Getty Images

Emilio Estevez is more than just an ‘80s darling—he’s the son of famous actor Martin Sheen and brother of Charlie Sheen, although he chose to keep his birth surname to forge his own path in Hollywood. His ‘80s movie credits include Tex, The Outsiders, Repo Man, The Breakfast Club, St. Elmo’s Fire and Young Guns.

In the '90s, Estevez starred in films like Men at Work, The Mighty Ducks and Mission: Impossible. He later pivoted to directing and has mostly stuck to that since.

Rob Lowe's net worth: $100 million Rob Lowe

Dubbed "The Most Beautiful Face" in New York Magazine’s Brat Pack article, Lowe’s breakout film role was in 1983's The Outsiders as Sodapop Curtis. He went on to act in ‘80s movies Class, Oxford Blues, St. Elmo’s Fire, Youngblood, About Last Night and Masquerade.

In the late ‘90s, Lowe transitioned to TV acting and starred in The West Wing, later adding his talent to the casts of 2000s shows Brothers & Sisters and Parks & Recreation. He recently starred in 9-1-1: Lone Star and Netflix's Unstable, and currently hosts The Floor on Fox. Despite all these credits, Celebrity Net Worth claims he’s made most of his fortune from endorsements and real estate.

Demi Moore's net worth: $200 million Demi Moore

Photo by Robyn Beck / AFP

By far the richest member of the Brat Pack, Moore acted on daytime television before making it to the big screen. In 1984, she had her breakthrough performance in Blame It on Rio. Her list of ‘80s hits includes St. Elmo’s Fire, About Last Night, One Crazy Summer, The Seventh Sign and We’re No Angels.

What separates Moore from most of the Brat Pack is that her star power just grew brighter after the ‘80s. In 1990 she starred in Ghost, the highest-grossing film of that year. She also starred in A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure, Now and Then, G.I. Jane and more, cementing herself as a leading lady of both the 1980s and 1990s.

Moore is still active as both a film and TV actress, most recently starring in FX's Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, and she received critical acclaim for her leading role in the body horror film The Substance, which garnered her several Best Actress nominations and wins.

I Tried Aldi’s Cookie Copycats vs. The Girl Scout Originals—Here’s What Surprised Me

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:17am

There's no denying the force that is Girl Scout Cookies. Each year, the organization sells about 200 million boxes of its cookies to loyal fans around the country. Many people have eaten these treats since they were children, tapping into a serious feeling of nostalgia with every bite.

I was a Girl Scout, and I vividly remember going door to door in my neighborhood to sell these iconic treats. Because my parents wanted to support my troop, they always bought a few boxes for us to enjoy, too. But the biggest challenges with Girl Scout Cookies are that they're pricey and seasonal. You can only snag a box from January until about April. If you want to enjoy these treats outside of that time frame, you either have to hoard them or try to find something to fill the void.

And that's where Aldi comes in. There's a lot of buzz online about how the fan-favorite grocery store sells cookies that are quite similar to some of the core Girl Scout Cookie flavors. These copycat treats are made by Aldi's Benton's brand, and you can pick them up for a much lower price and also snag them year-round.

As a lifelong Girl Scout Cookie fan, I was instantly intrigued and had to check out these sweets for myself. So, I gathered 10 boxes of cookies and set up an Aldi copycat vs. Girl Scout Cookie taste test to try the grocery store lookalikes vs. the real thing. So, should you save some cash and pick up Benton's cookies instead? Here's what I found.

What Are Girl Scout Cookies?

Courtesy Korin Miller

Girl Scout Cookies are legendary treats that have been sold nationwide since the 1920s. The proceeds from cookie sales go to the local troop and council, making this a huge fundraiser for the organization. The fundraising aspect is why the cookies go for a higher price, $6-$7 per box, depending on where you live.

The Girl Scouts have added different flavors over time, but there are mainstays that have been part of the cookie collection for years, including Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs and Trefoils.

And a quick note about cookie names: Because Girl Scout cookies are made in two regional bakeries, some of the flavors are known by two different names (Samoas vs. Caramel deLites, for example). In this test, I used the name of the cookie in my region.

What Are the Aldi Benton's Girl Scout Cookie Copycats?

Courtesy Korin Miller

Benton's Girl Scout Cookie dupes aren't specifically labeled that way, but many of these have such a similar look, taste and feel that it's hard to deny what they're trying to do. These cookies are significantly cheaper than standard Girl Scout Cookies (anywhere from $2 or so vs. $6-$7 or more for Girl Scout Cookies), but offer the same flavor combinations.

What People Are Saying About Aldi's Girl Scout Cookie Copycats

Courtesy Korin Miller

There's a lot of online chatter around these cookies. "They taste the exact same," one person wrote on Facebook of the dupes. Another swore that the Aldi version of Tagalongs is "so good," adding, "and may even taste better than the Girl Scout version."

A fellow fan said that the dupe versions of Samoas are "sooo amazing," while others wrote that they pick up the boxes on every trip to Aldi.

How I Tasted These Cookies

Courtesy Korin Miller

Some Aldi Benton's Girl Scout Cookie dupes look exactly like the real thing. In the case of Samoas and Tagalongs, I had to double-check the other cookies in the box to confirm what I was tasting. But others look slightly different. To try to avoid bias, I did a round of blind taste testing with my family, followed by "regular" taste testing to judge the cookies on their full presentation.

The cookies were tested head-to-head, as well as solo. Each cookie was rated on a range of factors, including appearance, taste, texture and value. If a cookie was a true dupe, I also looked at how similar it was to the original.

As a lifelong Girl Scout Cookie fan, I expected the originals to blow the Benton's versions out of the water. But I was surprised at just how good some of the Aldi cookies were. Here's what I learned.

Taste Test: Benton's Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Cookies vs. Tagalongs

Both of these cookies have a crunchy cookie interior, with a layer of peanut butter and a fudge coating and they look very, very similar.

Benton's Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Cookies, $2.45

Courtesy Korin Miller

Benton's Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Cookies are nearly identical to their Tagalong cousins—they're just slightly larger. This cookie was one of the favorites of the entire testing. It has more creamy peanut butter than the Tagalong, along with a nice crunch when you bite into it.

Tagalongs Girl Scout Cookie, $6

Courtesy Korin Miller

There's no denying that Tagalongs are a tasty cookie. The blend of peanut butter, chocolate and crunchy cookie gives fans the best of all worlds. The peanut butter in this cookie was slightly saltier than the Benton's versions, really bringing out that chocolate flavor. But there was less peanut butter overall, and the cookie itself is smaller than Benton's. It's hard to justify paying more for a smaller cookie that's nearly identical to something you can pick up year-round.

Taste Test: Benton's Caramel Coconut Fudge Cookie vs. Samoas

Courtesy Korin Miller

These cookies feature a blend of caramel, fudge and plenty of coconut for a nutty, chocolatey taste with a crunchy cookie interior.

Benton's Caramel Coconut Fudge Cookie, $1.55

Courtesy Korin Miller

Chocolate-caramel coconut cookies aren't something you come across every day, making the Benton's find an exciting one. But the excitement ended there. These cookies didn't taste fresh, and they were soft instead of crunchy. The coconut flavor was a little off, too. The cookie wasn't bad, but there was a clear winner in this taste test.

Samoas, $6

Courtesy Korin Miller

To be fair, Samoas are a legendary cookie with a massive fanbase, but the Girl Scouts completely crushed it with this cookie recipe. You can really taste the coconut and caramel, and neither flavor tastes fake. There's a nice crunch once you get through the coconut, chocolate and caramel layer, making for a really satisfying bite. It also tastes like a candybar. This cookie is simply delicious—and totally worth the wait and the higher price.

Taste Test: Benton's Peanut Butter Creme-Filled Cookies vs. Do-Si-Dos

Courtesy Korin Miller

Like peanut butter? You're in luck. These cookies have a peanut butter exterior and interior, giving you double the nutty flavor.

Benton's Peanut Butter Creme-Filled Cookies, $3.05

Courtesy Korin Miller

I'll be honest: The peanut butter-on-peanut butter cookies were the least liked category overall, making it hard to choose a winner. Nobody was really into either of these cookies. That said, there are a few key differences to note. Benton's Peanut Butter Creme-Filled Cookies don't have a strong peanut butter flavor. It's there, but it's a little subtle. There is a nice crunchy exterior and creamy interior, though. It's not a bad cookie, and you get a lot for the money. But it's not the best you can do if you're craving a peanut butter cookie.

Do-Si-Dos, $6

Courtesy Korin Miller

These cookies are a solid choice if you're craving a wall of peanut butter hitting your tongue. The exterior and interior deliver in the peanut butter flavor department, and each has a nice blend of saltiness and sweetness. Overall, we thought this cookie needed something more, like a hint of chocolate or some other flavor in the mix. They do taste great as a topping when you crumble them over vanilla or chocolate ice cream, though.

Taste Test: Benton's Mint Striped Fudge Cookies vs. Thin Mints

Courtesy Korin Miller

These cookies combine mint, chocolate and fudge in a crunchy treat.

Benton's Mint Striped Fudge Cookies, $1.25

Courtesy Korin Miller

There's a lot of mint coming your way with the Benton's Mint Striped Fudge Cookies. These cookies have a creamy mint interior, along with mint striping on top, making it hard to miss this flavor profile. The cookies have a nice crunch and strong flavor, but the mint can feel a little overpowering—and even a bit like toothpaste. If you're a big fan of minty treats or if you're even looking to freshen your breath while snacking, this one is worth a try. Otherwise, it's a little much.

Thin Mints, $6

Courtesy Korin Miller

Thin Mints are consistently ranked America's favorite Girl Scout Cookie, making them hard to beat. The Girl Scouts do a really nice job balancing the mint and chocolate flavors so that you're not overwhelmed by either one. The mint is subtle and perfectly complements the chocolate. While there's a thin fudge coating, these cookies are all about the crunch. This one is definitely worth the price.

Taste Test: Benton's Danish Butter Cookies vs. Trefoils

Courtesy Korin Miller

Buttery, rich and only mildly sweet, these shortbread cookies are a classsic.

Benton's Danish Butter Cookies, $4.29

Courtesy Korin Miller

Benton's Danish Butter Cookies are a large, round cookie that really nails that shortbread flavor. They have a nice, buttery flavor, that really brings out the taste of the shortbread. The cookie tin has several varieties inside, including some that have oversized sugar crystals on top. These cookies are slightly larger than Trefoils, too, giving you more to dive into. They're slightly crumbly, but that's not unusual for a shortbread cookie.

Trefoils, $6

Courtesy Korin Miller

Trefoils are a shortbread cookie with a twist. They have that classic buttery flavor, but with a marshmallowy hint. They have a nice crunch, but even with the marshmallow notes, I didn't find that they had a ton of flavor. They're also pretty small—you could easily toss one back in two bites, and possibly even one—making the price tag a little hard to justify for what you get.

Winner: Benton's Danish Butter Cookies

Courtesy Korin Miller

Final Takeaways

It's important to point out that none of these cookies were bad, and each had its own special qualities. In the end, the Girl Scouts originals edged out the Benton's cookies three to two in the head-to-head tastings, but that doesn't tell the whole story.

Courtesy Korin Miller

If a $6 box of cookies isn't in your budget and/or it's not Girl Scout season, by all means, hit up your local Aldi and go to town. The Benton's varieties were all tasty, and some were closer in look and feel to classic Girl Scout Cookies than others. You also can't beat the price.

But if you want a classic cookie that will bring back childhood memories, the classic Girl Scout Cookies are the way to go. Some options, like the Samoa and Thin Mints, just can't be replicated. Plus, you're making a donation to the organization in the process, supporting local kids.

Mike & Molly was originally supposed to hit Netflix on February 20, however, it was quietly delayed. The reason for the delay is unclear.

Once-Exclusive Disney Parks’ Treat Drops New Flavor

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:13am

A new Dole Whip flavor is heading to the ice cream aisle!

The iconic treat, which was initially made famous as an exclusive to Disney Parks, landed in grocery stores for the first time about three years ago. Now, Parade has learned the lineup of popular fruit-based frozen desserts is officially expanding to include an even brighter, more tropical variety.

"Dole Whip is everything today's consumers are searching for but couldn't find in the aisle," Mike Secor, vice president of marketing for Dole Packaged Foods US, shared in a statement. "It's a moment of sunshine—smooth, creamy, vibrant, made with real fruit, and unlike anything else on the market. That's why this isn't just a new product launch. It's a category disruption."

Dole Whip Expands, Debuts "Exciting" New Tropical Flavor

When the company says it's unlike anything else on the market, it means it. Dole Whip isn't ice cream, sherbet, gelato, or sorbet, according to the Feb. 24 press release. If you've had the cult-favorite dessert, you'd likely agree. But if you haven't, imagine putting sorbet through a soft-serve machine—it's so much creamier than scooped sorbet, but doesn't have the added dairy (or high-fructose corn syrup, for that matter) that's found in sherbet.

Dole Whip starts with real fruit puree that's blended with water, sugar, tapioca syrup (the secret to its soft and creamy texture), and a few other ingredients until it hits the perfect consistency.

It originally debuted at Magic Kingdom in the '80s and went on to become one of the most famous Disney Parks desserts, known for being cold, creamy and ultra-refreshing on hot days. Initially available only in pineapple flavor, the treat eventually became so popular at the theme parks that other flavors (like Lime, Orange, and Strawberry) were added, and the treats were expanded to retail stores outside Disney.

And now, fans will have an additional flavor to consider the next time they're looking for a sweet snack in the freezer section of nearly any grocery store or major retailer across the country: Dole Whip Tropical Guava Passion.

Consumers can now enjoy Dole Whip in three tropical flavors made with real fruit.

The new "globally-inspired" flavor is a "vibrant, aromatic flavor fusion of guava and passion fruit," according to the official announcement. It joins the existing retail lineup of Dole Whip, Pineapple and Mango.

All three Dole Whip flavors are now available in 14-ounce containers at select retailers nationwide, including Albertson's, Harris Teeter, Publix, Ralph's, Stop & Shop, Hannaford, and Target, with more stores set to stock the line in the coming months (prices may vary). The original Pineapple Dole Whip and Mango flavors are also available in convenient cups, sold in packs of four. The company also confirmed that larger packs of cups will be back at Costco this spring, for a limited time as a seasonal offer.

1986 Cult-Classic Movie With One of the 'Greatest Soundtracks of All Time' Hit Theaters 40 Years Ago Today

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:10am

Four decades later, fans are still craving the movies, style, music and culture of the 1980s. ‘80s bands like Duran Duran, Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode still reign supreme, not to mention the enduring popularity of ‘80s fashion and nostalgic TV shows. Forty years ago today, one of the era’s most popular and genre-defining films was released, boasting “one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.” Press play on one of the greatest mixtapes of the 1980s, the Pretty in Pink soundtrack.

The John Hughes–penned, Molly Ringwald–starring Pretty in Pink was released on February 28, 1986. Directed by Howard Deutch and also starring Andrew McCarthy, James Spader, Jon Cryer, Annie Potts and Harry Dean Stanton, Pretty in Pink became one of the defining teen movies of the ‘80s. The film remains an enduring touchstone for Gen Xers who connect with its themes of class, identity and high school romance.

Pretty in Pink was an instant commercial success and cemented Ringwald and McCarthy’s status as ‘80s film icons, but it is the film’s soundtrack that has elevated its legacy. The title track, "If You Leave" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), became a major hit and is still closely associated with the film’s pivotal prom scene.

The Pretty in Pink soundtrack also features music from The Psychedelic Furs, whose song "Pretty in Pink" inspired the film’s title, as well as tracks from New Order and The Smiths.

The Pretty in Pink soundtrack helped accentuate the film’s moody, romantic teen angst tone and gave it lasting pop culture relevance.

'Pretty in Pink' Soundtrack Track List

Reading like a mixtape of iconic ‘80s artists whose New Wave, synthesizer-heavy sound defined the decade, the Pretty in Pink soundtrack taps into the youth culture of the 1980s that still rings true four decades later.

"If You Leave" – Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD)
"Left of Center" – Suzanne Vega (featuring Joe Jackson)
"Get to Know Ya" – Jesse Johnson
"Do Wot You Do" – INXS
"Pretty in Pink" – The Psychedelic Furs
"Shellshock" – New Order
"Round, Round" – Belouis Some
"Wouldn’t It Be Good" – Danny Hutton Hitters
"Bring On the Dancing Horses" – Echo & the Bunnymen
"Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" – The Smiths

The Lasting Legacy of 'Pretty in Pink'

The themes of class, romance and Hughes’ expert coming-of-age storytelling remain defining elements of the Brat Pack era of teen films. From Molly Ringwald’s pink prom dress to McCarthy’s white tuxedo jacket to Cryer’s eccentric style and indelible record-store dance solo, Pretty in Pink serves as a snapshot of 1980s youth culture and continues to connect with teen angst and identity searching across generations. However, it is the Pretty in Pink soundtrack, a careful curation of New Wave sound that perfectly reflects the music of the era, that continues to resonate most deeply.

It’s hard to believe 40 years have passed since the release of Pretty in Pink. Even the film’s star Andrew McCarthy, whose Brat Pack documentary, Brats ,for Hulu revisited the era’s stars as they reflected on being labeled the Brat Pack, is scratching his head wondering where the time went.

“Forty years today... in the blink of an eye,” McCarthy shared on social media. Maybe it’s time for a Pretty in Pink sequel. We’d watch. Would you?

Taylor Swift’s Famous Friend Hints at Wedding Date Leaving Fans Scratching Their Heads

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 9:03am

Fans of Taylor Swift are buzzing after a famous TV host appeared to hint that the pop superstar may have a selected a wedding date. The unexpected remark quickly spread online, fueling debate among listeners who are unsure whether the comment revealed real plans or was meant in jest.

"So exciting that @taylorswift13 has a date for her wedding now! #TheGNShow," read a message posted on X on Friday, Feb. 27.

Many Swifties were quick to respond to Norton's message, many questioning why he posted it, if it was legit, and whether or not his comment would get him in trouble.

"Are you sure you're allowed to say this... Babes delete," one person wrote.

"She trusted you…?!" someone else said.

"We get that you’re invited. So do you feel entitled to announce it? As happy as we are that there’s already a date, we’re not okay with you getting ahead of the couple and announcing their decision. The hell is wrong with u?" a third comment read.

"Delete this," a fourth X user added.

A look at Norton's feed suggests that he was simply sharing quotes and memories from the "very best bits of the season." Regardless, fans were clearly confused by that particular comment.

Swift, who got engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in August 2025, has not shared any details about her upcoming wedding. However, when she visited The Graham Norton Show to promote the release of The Life of a Showgirl in October 2025, she hinted that Norton would be invited.

On the January 26 episode of his Wanging On podcast, Norton said that he's had to sign NDAs regarding the wedding.

"I can say nothing," Norton said. "I've signed so many NDAs.”

Many Swifties have been fiercely protective of information surrounding Swift and Kelce's wedding. In fact, many have posted that they hope others give Swift space and privacy during this exciting time in her life.

5 Mercury Retrograde Myths, Busted by an Expert Astrologer

Sat, 02/28/2026 - 8:58am

When you hear about Mercury retrograde, chances are you think about everything that can possibly go sideways. Three to four times a year, for about three weeks, the messenger planet appears to move backward from our vantage point on Earth, throwing a wrench into communication, transportation, and technology. Whether you’re concerned about travel plans falling through, crossed wires that lead to arguments or lasting consequences, or tech breakdowns that throw a wrench in your ability to get important work done, it’s true that the transit can spur a wide variety of slowdowns, delays, and headaches. But not everything you’ve heard about this transit is true.

As the author of Mercury Magic: How to Thrive During Retrogrades and Tap Into the Power of the Messenger Planet All Year Long, I can attest that there are various misunderstandings (ironically) and myths that deserve to be busted. Read on to better understand how to navigate any Mercury retrograde by separating fact from fiction.

LEARN MORE: What Does Mercury Retrograde Really Mean? A Guide Beyond the Chaos

1. Myth: All forms of communication are bound to get bungled and confused.

You’ve likely heard that Mercury retrograde is the worst possible time to write that important email, sign a contract, create a presentation, or have a crucial heart-to-heart, because when the planet of communication is compromised, it’s far more likely that you or someone else will be misunderstood. It’s easy to feel as though you must avoid all communication.

Fact: You may be nudged to pick up conversations from the past — or dive into introspective forms of self-expression.

The truth is that when Mercury, the planet that oversees cerebral energy, is retrograde, miscommunications can occur more readily. But it is simply not realistic to put off all important communications. In fact, certain types of interactions make even more sense to dive into when Mercury is retrograde. For example, if you have to follow up on an issue that cropped up during the last Mercury retrograde (say, an incorrect bill), it makes sense that you’d pick it back up when Mercury is once again moving backward.

All planetary retrogrades encourage you to go inward in some way, and in the case of Mercury retrograde, you may find you’re drawn to and fulfilled by introspective forms of communication, like therapy or journaling.

Also, if you happen to be someone who was born during Mercury retrograde, you could find that you actually get into a flow in conversation or writing more readily. That’s because during the trickster planet’s backspins, the world is encouraged to process information and communicate in a way that’s more aligned with how you think and express yourself innately.

2. Myth: You need to tend to and resolve any old business from the past that pops back into view.

Whether an ex you haven’t talked to in a million years sends a text out of nowhere or you see an interesting job listing at a company you used to work for, you could feel like these blasts from the past must be coming up for a reason and are worthy of your attention.

Fact: Some blasts from the past are actually more about bolstering self-awareness.

Sure, some loose ends from the past could be valuable expenditures of your time and energy, but it’s important to remember that Mercury is the trickster planet. You’re not necessarily meant to pick up where you left off with everyone who re-enters your life. Previous connections, patterns, and experiences could come back up for no real reason other than to remind you how far you’ve come.

3. Myth: Avoid intention-setting or manifesting of any kind.

If you’ve heard just about anything about Mercury retrograde, it’s that you want to avoid starting anything new at all costs. It’s a time for tending to unfinished business that was started in the past versus planting seeds.

Fact: Two things can be true at the same time.

At any given time, various astrological transits are happening simultaneously, so we often have to try to balance conflicting energies, opportunities, and challenges. Case in point: A Mercury retrograde may overlap with a new moon that’s perfectly wired for goal-setting and launching an ambitious endeavor. In that case, it’s best to be aware of the retrograde while going about new moon-fueled business. You might opt to set intentions in a more self-reflective, introspective, meditative way versus organizing a super-social event with friends that requires a lot of planning (an endeavor that’s probably better suited to Mercury moving direct). You could also do some self-work that involves looking in the rearview mirror, acknowledging how far you’ve come, before clarifying your vision for the future.

4. Myth: During all Mercury retrogrades, you’ll experience a slew of communication meltdowns, tech glitches, and transportation issues.

You might feel like these stereotypical Mercury retrograde headaches are inevitable, because they’re so highly publicized as symptoms of Mercury moving backward.

Fact: How you’ll experience a Mercury retrograde really depends on how it’s interacting with your birth chart.

Of course, if Mercury is moving back through your third house of communication, which is associated with the messenger planet and air sign Gemini and involves short-distance travel, learning, communication, transportation, etc., you could experience that retrograde in a far more stereotypical way. Your car could end up in the shop, or you might be trying to address an ongoing tech issue at work.

But when Mercury goes retrograde again in a different sign and an entirely different place in your chart, like, say, your eighth house of emotional bonds and shared resources, the themes that come up could be very different. You might be more immersed in revising a budget or business proposal alongside your significant other than in putting out fires related to your tech devices and daily commute. That’s why it can be so helpful to familiarize yourself with your birth chart and pinpoint the house(s) Mercury will be moving back through during any given retrograde.

5. Myth: Mercury retrograde is an entirely frustrating transit with zero silver linings.

Given all the trouble it can cause, it’s easy to think it’s probably best to just lay low as much as possible whenever the messenger planet is moving backward.

Fact: Mercury retrograde presents a bevy of opportunities to rest, recharge, revise a particular area of your life, and even pursue personal growth.

As go-go-go as we’re expected to be these days, just about anyone would agree it’s pretty much impossible to move forward 24/7/365. And that’s a case for taking time to rest, recover, rejuvenate, and refine how you’re moving through life. That’s exactly what Mercury retrogrades encourage us to do. They encourage us not only to tie up loose ends but also to tap into the power of mindfulness and dreams and to recognize that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is to slow down.
