41 Years Ago, an Overlooked ‘80s TV Dramedy Launched Future Star Bruce Willis’ Career

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:13am

While most people know Bruce Willis as a huge Hollywood star with an impressive legacy of past roles, at one point, he was just an actor starting out on the scene, hoping to land a great role.

41 years ago, on March 3, 1985, the young actor debuted as one of the leads of the TV series Moonlighting. The show also starred Cybill Shepherd, Allyce Beasley, and Curtis Armstrong in the main cast, while other familiar faces to appear throughout its five-season run include NCIS star Mark Harmon, Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint, and movie actress Brooke Adams, among others.

Shepherd starred as Madolyn "Maddie" Hayes, a former fashion model forced to run a detective agency after her accountant embezzled her money and left her bankrupt. Originally called City of Angels Detective Agency, detective David Addison, played by Willis, convinces Maddie to rebrand to Blue Moon Detective Agency, and they become partners solving cases together.

The series had five seasons total, running from 1985 to 1989. Along with the intriguing and entertaining cases, one of the best parts of the show was the relationship between the two leads. The series was one of the first to really showcase a "will-they/won't-they" relationship, with the tension between Willis and Shepherd's characters a major draw for viewers. Willis won an Emmy for his performance in 1987, and decades later, Moonlighting is still seen as one of the best TV shows of all time.

But thanks to the success of the show, Willis' career was taking off, and in 1988 he starred in one of his most famous roles, playing John McClane in Die Hard. His busy schedule might've contributed to Moonlighting coming to an end after Season 5, and in 1990, Die Hard 2 was released.

Willis didn't slow down after his breakout in Hollywood, and in the next five years, he starred in Death Becomes Her, Pulp Fiction, Nobody's Fool, Die Hard with a Vengeance, and 12 Monkeys, among other roles.

An Iconic Piece of Disney History Just Vanished From the Park

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:10am

If you’re heading to the West Coast for a spring break getaway, you might notice a famous face is missing from the "Happiest Place on Earth."

This week, guests at Disney California Adventure Park were surprised to find that the iconic "Storytellers" statue—which depicts a young Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse—has vanished from its usual spot on Buena Vista Street.

While the "Partners" statue in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle is the one most people know, "Storytellers" holds a special place in the hearts of Disney history buffs.

Installed in 2012, the bronze sculpture shows a 1923-era Walt just as he arrived in Hollywood from Missouri, carrying a frayed suitcase and a "checkered coat," with a pre-fame Mickey standing by his side on a travel trunk. It represents the "wonderful audacity of youth" that built the Disney empire from just forty dollars and a dream.

The disappearance isn't a permanent "goodbye," but rather a high-stakes spa day. As of February 24, beige construction walls have gone up around the pedestal where the duo usually stands.

Because bronze naturally oxidizes over time, these statues require deep restoration beyond a simple nightly polishing to keep them from turning green or losing their luster in the California sun.

Disneyland Resort hasn't officially shared a "return to stage" date yet, but this kind of maintenance is standard for the park’s most precious landmarks. In the meantime, the quote on the statue’s plaque—"We are just getting started"—feels especially fitting as the park gears up for a busy 2026 season.

Whether you're a lifelong fan or a first-time visitor, it's a reminder that even the "Storytellers" need a little pixie dust and a fresh coat of shine every once in a while. While the walls might make for a less-than-perfect photo op today, the restored bronze is sure to be back in the spotlight soon, welcoming guests to the start of Walt's Hollywood journey once again.

'Sister Wives' Star Drops Bombshell Book Announcement

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:08am

After years of speculation, a star of TLC's Sister Wives has dropped a bombshell book announcement.

In an interview for the YouTube channel Notes to Self 444, Meri Brown has revealed that she is indeed writing a book. The reveal came after a viewer asked the reality star if she had plans to share her story.

Her remarks come at the video's 43-minute mark, where the channel's host Melanie, daughter of a high-ranking member within the Apostolic United Brethren religious group, posed the question.

Brown said, "Yes" when asked if she would be writing a book. She also answered in the affirmative when asked if she had already started writing.

"I talk to Jenn [Sullivan, Meri's friend and frequent Sister Wives guest] about this all the time. I want it all organized, and I want to plan," she began.

"They asked me to write an outline. I hated that part in my English class growing up," the reality star added.

"Jenn's like, 'just start writing,' so I have been just writing stories," Meri continued. "I'll organize it later."

Meri's book reveal comes one year after Christine Brown announced her memoir, Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom. The book was released in September 2025 and detailed her life within polygamy, her marriage to Kody Brown, and leaving her faith behind, becoming a No. 1 New York Times bestseller.

Fans have rallied for Meri to write her memoir for years. In the video's comments section, they shared their excitement over the project.

One fan commented, "Yea! I will definitely read." A second wrote, "I really love your honesty Meri and I look forward to your book."

However, a third fan wasn't convinced Meri's book would be the tell-all Sister Wives viewers are hoping for. "The question is, are we going to get anything new or just the circles they keep going in?"

Thus far, Christine and Meri are the only two of Kody's wives to write down their story. Janelle has not shared whether she will ever write down the story of her life as a polygamist. The three women shared their lives with Kody Brown and had a collective 13 children before he married Robyn Brown in 2014.

Kody and Robyn Brown live monogamy. His three exes left over the course of three years, from 2021 through 2023.

Sister Wives is currently on hiatus. The series airs on TLC.

1968 Masterpiece Named ‘Best Movie of All Time’ Was Initially Walk-Out Bad

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:00am

In the endless debate over cinema’s greatest achievement, there are always the usual suspects: The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Vertigo. All spectacular contributions to the canon of best movies ever, for sure, but it’s always refreshing when a little something unexpected makes its way to the top of these subjective lists. That’s what we get with the ranking from Time Out, updated last month.

Written by senior film critic Joshua Rothkopf and film writer Matthew Singer, and edited by global film editor Phil de Semlyen, the list indeed has the aforementioned masterpieces on it -- Francis Ford Coppola’s mob saga is No. 2, Orson Welles’ tycoon picture No. 3, and Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller No. 20 -- but at the top? They have Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey

Released in 1968, Kubrick’s sci-fi opus was light years ahead of its time. Encompassing 4 million years of human evolution, the film stars Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood as cosmonauts on a mission to Jupiter to uncover the origin of a mysterious artifact on the moon. But, really, the film is less about plot and more about revolutionary camerawork and big brainy ideas like evolution, isolation, humanity’s place in the universe, and artificial intelligence.

“Kubrick’s frighteningly clinical vision of the future -- AI and all -- still feels prophetic, more than 50 years on,” Time Out writes.

View this post on Instagram

The movie clocks in at two hours and 49 minutes, so there’s a ton of Kubrickian Easter eggs to dissect and unpack. Film students, critics, buffs, and professors alike continue doing so to this day. Interestingly, though, 2001 was on the verge of fading into obscurity in the late ’60s and perhaps risked never becoming the seminal classic it is today.

When the film premiered, 241 people walked out, per Slash Film. One of those moviegoers was Hollywood actor Rock Hudson, who was reported to have said, “Will someone tell me what the hell this is about?” He wasn’t alone in his confusion.

The initial response to the film was so rotten, Kubrick’s writing partner, Arthur C. Clarke, feared he’d made the biggest mistake of his career. In tears, Clarke ditched the premiere during intermission (remember when movies had intermissions?) leaving Kubrick to pace the theater alone.

The New York Times wrote it up as boring, yet majestic. Roger Ebert noted the walkouts but defended the experience as significant and profound. Newsweek panned it as obscure, annoying, and banal.

According to Forbes, though, the tide turned during the film’s first year in theaters, due to the Moon-watching generation getting wind of the film and appreciating it for its “scope, depth, and pace.”

As polarizing as the film was during its genesis and as lauded as it is today, it still finds itself in a love-it-or-hate-it divide. But no matter if you watch 2001 and feel captivated by its visionary storytelling or like you just want your three hours back, one thing is for certain: It will forever provoke thought and stir emotion.

Costco’s Sweet New Find Delivers a Tropical Twist on a Timeless French Classic

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:00am

Crepes are one of those rare foods that work at any hour of the day—breakfast or dessert, there's really no wrong way to enjoy them.

The versatile food can be made sweet or savory, depending on your mood, with fillings ranging from your favorite ingredients like jams, fruits, whipped cream, hazelnut spreads, or even melty cheeses, meats and vegetables.

Now, Costco is elevating the crepe game to a whole new level, delivering a vibrant and fruity twist on the timeless French classic, best described as an ultra-thin pancake originating from Brittany, France.

Costco's Pink Guava Crepes from St. Michel

With spring just around the corner, lighter and fluffier fare is becoming a draw, and shoppers at the warehouse giant spotted an irresistible crepe flavor that's almost too pretty to eat—pink guava!

The Instagram account, Costco So Obsessed, was the first to report the findings, writing, "Pink guava crepes 🩷🩷🩷 @stmichel_us@stmichel_fr these look great !!"

Hailing from St. Michel, the French family-owned bakery operating since 1905, also responsible for the fan-favorite sponge cake Madeleine, the pink guava crepes were a delight for many who saw them available at their local store.

The Costco Momma took to TikTok to admit that while she came for the beloved Nutella-filled crepes, she found the pink guava ones instead and wasn't one bit disappointed.

"Costco just switched things up with these French pink guava filled crepes and I did not see that coming. They’re soft, sweet, and definitely different from the usual chocolate filling," she wrote on the video, which gave fans a peek at the pink packaging.

♬ Just Saying - Alina Eremia

The packaging describes the crepe as "unlike any other," noting that it's "light, tender, and filled with a delicious guava purée."

"A unique fusion of French savoir-faire and vibrant flavors, offering a fresh, surprising twist on a timeless classic," the description continued.

Costco shoppers were ready to give the new crepe flavor a whirl, writing, "Ok yum!" and "I love Guava i need to try 🫶🏻."

That being said, you may have to catch a flight to enjoy these, as they are only available at select stores for $7.99.

Pink Guava Gaining Popularity as a Seasonal Flavor

While this seems to be the first time Costco has added a pink guava crepe, the tropical profile isn't entirely new, with the retailer previously selling Guava Sweet Rolls and a Guava Cheesecake that shoppers have only found in select locations like Hawaii, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Guava is a yearround flavor in warmer climates, and while it doesn't have the seasonal association like pumpkin or peppermint, it has been trending on menus lately as part of seasonal rollouts along other tropical flavors like mago and passion fruit.

These are often seen as spring and summer flavors as they boast a bright and light flavor profile, along with the pink and coral color that emphasizes spring aesthetics.

Shoppers at certain Costco locations may spot other St. Michel products on shelves as the season warms up, with Costco So Obsessed also noting that the French Mini Tarts in Mango and Passion Fruit have begun popping up.

Sex Pistols Reschedule North American Tour With Frank Carter

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:47am

The Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter have officially announced rescheduled North American tour dates for fall 2026, putting months of fan speculation to rest after the original run was scrapped before a single show was played.

"Hear ye hear ye hear ye, here is some fantastic news! We're back," the band wrote on FacebookMonday, March 2. "Hittin the stage again with our rescheduled North American tour dates this Fall 2026."

The tour was originally set to launch last fall, but guitarist Steve Jones sustained a broken wrist in September 2025 that forced the cancellation of all remaining North and South American dates. Jones, now fully recovered, addressed the comeback in his own way. "Mr. Jones here with an update on my wrist," he said in a statement. "I think it's good enough to do the upcoming tour. Now if I can just stop my legs from buckling up, I think I'll be in good shape."

This version of the Pistols features original members Jones, bassist Glen Matlock, and drummer Paul Cook alongside vocalist Frank Carter, who joined the lineup in 2024 after Matlock's son suggested him for a set of charity shows at London's Bush Hall. Carter, formerly of Gallows and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, has since earned widespread praise for the raw energy he brings to the stage. At a 2025 show at London's Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust, he reportedly got the entire crowd into a “giant circle pit,” according to Blabbermouth. A sold-out 100 Club gig drew Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, and Bobby Gillespie.

Not everyone’s a fan, though. Original frontman John Lydon, who’s been estranged from his former bandmates for years, has publicly called the Carter-led shows “karaoke.” In a February interview with The i Paper, he said learning about the reunion without him “pissed me off,” adding that the remaining members were “trying to trivialize the whole show.” Carter, for his part, has taken the high road, telling NME he plans to “leave every single ounce of me on that stage because that’s what the record deserves.”

According to the tour announcement, each stop will feature a full performance of the band’s 1977 album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols from start to finish, plus additional songs from the catalog. The run is part of a broader celebration marking 50 years since the band's formation. Confirmed cities include Dallas, Austin, Houston, Nashville, Kansas City, Toronto, Montreal, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Cleveland, Detroit, Columbus, Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Phoenix, and Los Angeles.

2018 No. 1 Hit Ranked Most-Streamed Breakup Track With Billions of Listens

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:44am

A new study from digital entertainment platform JB.com reveals that music listeners overwhelmingly turn to Lewis Capaldi, with his hit "Someone You Loved" when going through a breakup. According to the study, which was shared directly with Parade, the 2018 track emerged as the most-streamed breakup track since its release.

The ballad has amassed more than 4.23 billion plays on Spotify and appears on thousands of heartbreak-themed playlists, underscoring its lasting resonance with audiences navigating the aftermath of a split.

Per the study, Capaldi's hit track, which spent three weeks atop Billboard's Hot 100 Charts, is just "as popular as Adele" when it comes to the newly heartbroken. JB.com also points out that the song could very well be the "most-streamed breakup track" ever.

"Breakup songs have become a genre of their own," JB.com's CEO said of the study. "One of the industry's lesser-known secrets is that major artists are often assigned songs and genres that meet market demand. This may sound strange given how emotionally connected we may feel to some of these tracks, but if it comes from a big pop artist, there is a good chance it was shaped by prior market research. Every genre and theme has its own data, and the people working with pop artists always consider these trends when making albums. That’s how the hits are made."

"Someone You Loved" was written for the masses in that Capaldi made it clear that he wanted to write something relatable.

"I said, “I don’t want to write about the same break-up. I want to write about the feeling of losing someone in general, and have the story be broader so that people could make their own story of it. And from there, we got this idea, and we were able to write it very quickly," he explained in a Q&A with Songwriter Universe.

Sixty years ago, The Monkees released their hit song “I’m a Believer,” with the B-side “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone.” Both songs became hits. “I’m a Believer” was ranked the Monkees’ Top Billboard Hot 100 hit of all time, while “Steppin’ Stone” ranked at No. 10 on the list.

The latter song, written by legendary songwriting duo Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, was released on Nov. 12, 1966, and was regularly featured on The Monkees TV show, which starred bandmates Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith, Davy Jones, and Peter Tork.

Early on, Boyce and Hart would perform backup on Monkees songs, and they sometimes did it during the original recording sessions.

In his 2015 book Psychedelic Bubble Gum: Boyce & Hart, The Monkees, and Turning Mayhem Into Miracles, Hart recalled the studio sessions with The Monkees bandmates. “Having the background vocals already on the tracks gave an instant support to the leads,” he wrote. “On a song like ‘(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone,’ for instance, it’s easy to notice the symbiotic relationship between our voices and Micky’s.“

He added that both he and Boyce adlibbed one part of the song, which some fans may have assumed was Dolenz.

“It’s not just the blending of our voices on the three-part harmony of the chorus and the call and response background parts,” he wrote. “Tommy’s adlibs of ‘No!’ and ‘Oh, no not me’ and my scream of ‘Noooo!’ fit seamlessly into the breaks between Dolenz’s impeccable performance.”

Hart’s scream can be heard around the 1:45 mark of the song, just after Boyce’s cries.

‘Steppin’ Stone’ had ‘guts’

“Steppin’ Stone” took a step back from The Monkees' bubblegum image. The song was hard-rocking enough to later be covered by the Sex Pistols on their 1979 album The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. The iconic punk band starring Johnny Rotten released their version as a single, and it gave “Steppin’  Stone” even more credibility in the eyes of Monkees band member Peter Tork.

“The songs that we got [in the ‘60s] were really songs of some vigor and substance,” Tork told Entertainment Weekly in a 2016 interview. “‘(I’m Not Your) Stepping Stone’ is not peaches and cream. It comes down hard on the subject, poor girl. And the weight of the song is indicated by the fact that the Sex Pistols covered it. Anybody trying to write ‘‘60s songs’ now thinks that you have to write ’59th St. Bridge.’ Which is an okay song but has not got a lot of guts. ‘Stepping Stone’ has guts.”

Monkees fans still request ‘Steppin’ Stone’

Sixty years after “Steppin’ Stone" was released, fans still request the song from Dolenz, who is the last surviving member of the band and is currently on tour.

In a 2020 interview with Goldmine, Dolenz said fans buy tickets to hear him sing “I’m a Believer’ and ‘(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone.'” He still plays the two songs from the 1966 single’s A and B sides at every show he performs.

"Once they know they’re gonna get that, they come,” he said of the songs. “And I know that’s why they’re there, so I always give it to ’em. Every single show I do. I made that decision to do that a long, long time ago.”

Following Hart’s death in September 2025, Dolenz posted a TikTok tribute featuring a Monkees “romp” scene with "Steppin’ Stone” playing over it. "Still thinking about Bobby Hart," Dolenz captioned the clip. "He and Tommy gave us so many classics, and '(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone' was one of the first that really rocked on stage.”

“Even though it was a B-side it still made its way up the charts,” the Monkees singer added. “Playing that song live still gets me. It proved a B-side could be as powerful as a hit.”

Netflix's Live-Action 'Scooby-Doo' Cast: 16 Actors Who Should Join Mckenna Grace

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:26am

With Mckenna Grace set to play Daphne in Netflix’s upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo prequel series, the Mystery Inc. van is finally starting to fill up. Which begs the questions: Who will step into the turtleneck as Velma? Who’s got the square-jawed confidence for Fred? Who can scarf down a sandwich like Shaggy? And perhaps most importantly, who can deliver a satisfying "Ruh-roh!" as the voice of Scooby?

While fans wait for Netflix to make its selections, we dreamed up our own cast for the rest of the gang—including fan-favorite picks.

Who should play Velma in the live-action Scooby-Doo prequel?  The Black Phone's Madeleine McGraw would make a great Daphne!

Photo by PATRICK T. FALLON on Getty Images

Madeleine McGraw

After nailing her supporting role in The Black Phone, McGraw stepped up as the lead of The Black Phone 2, playing a girl who uses her psychic dreams to solve a decades-old mystery and put an end to a deadly supernatural killer. While everyone else is spinning their wheels, she is piecing together clues that will save the day—a very Velma thing to do. It stands to reason she’d be great at portraying Mystery Inc.’s most observant, intuitive member.

Priah Nicole Ferguson

Ferguson knows how to bring a brainy, no-nonsense character to life. With razor-sharp one-liners, she stole nearly every scene as Stranger Things' Erica Sinclair. And yet, for all their intellectual overlap, Erica and Velma are very different kids: Velma is earnest and a little socially awkward; Erica is bold and confident. That’s what makes this fan-casting so intriguing. It would give Ferguson the chance to play a different kind of analytical brainiac, while possibly adding a welcome bit of edge to Velma’s traditionally dry persona.

Sunny Sandler

Adam Sandler’s youngest daughter has popped up in small roles in her dad’s movies for years, but taking the lead in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah (which Sandler produced) proved she’s a star in her own right. There’s nothing overtly “young Velma” about her performances so far—though she’s clearly adept at both comedy and teen earnestness—but it would be plain fun to see her tackle the role, and she certainly has the potential to look the part. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that she already has a foot in the door at Netflix.

Julia Butters

Butters held her own in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opposite Leonardo DiCaprio when she was just 10 years old, showing a level of poise, wisdom and emotional restraint that would be perfect for a teen Velma. Then she won over audiences as Lindsay Lohan’s angsty daughter in Freakier Friday, proving she has the bite needed to deliver a compelling, modern take on the character, too. Sign her up!

Who should play Fred in the live-action Scooby-Doo prequel?  Heartthrob Fred could easily be played by Cobra Kai's Tanner Buchanan.

Photo by John Nacion on Getty Images

Tanner Buchanan

With roles in Cobra Kaiand He’s All That, Buchanan has already shown that he can capture the all-American charm and confidence that define Mystery Inc.’s de facto leader. It helps that he’s also got that classic teen heartthrob look, not unlike Freddie Prinze, Jr., who portrayed Fred in the 2002 live-action Scooby-Doo and its sequel.

Logan Shroyer

The This Is Us actor is currently slated to recur in another prequel—Elle, the Legally Blonde TV spinoff—but in theory, he could still be available for this reimagining. And audiences should be so lucky! Shroyer proved on TiU that he can bring emotional depth to an outwardly over-confident character, and that sleight of hand would work well for a young Fred, who would probably be insecure in his early leadership abilities.

Jacob Tremblay

A lot of fans are into this idea, and it’s easy to see why: Tremblay is a great actor (with a square jaw, to boot). Given his critically acclaimed roles in Room, Wonder and Good Boys, we know he has the chops to pull off Fred’s earnest, slightly oblivious nature without turning him into a cartoon. Plus, he’s currently slated to portray a young Ted Kaczynski in Netflix’s Unabom, so he’s got a good “in” at Netflix. Someone get Ted Sarandos on the line!

Michael Consuelos

The son of Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa, Michael’s been awaiting his breakout role since he graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2020 (he majored in film and television production but is also an actor). He excelled at playing a young version of his father’s character, Hiram Lodge, on Riverdale, so it stands to reason he could bring some of that nostalgic prequel energy to Scooby-Doo as well.

Who should play Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo prequel?  Jack Champion has starred in a slew of recent hits. Could Scooby-Doo be next?

Photo by Presley Ann on Getty Images

Jack Champion

Champion is an inspired choice for Shaggy, and not just because he’s got the right hair and physical blueprint for the role, but also because he’s got acting chops. In Avatar: The Way of Water, where he played a human teenager on Pandora, he had to deliver his performance in largely empty studios, acting opposite CGI characters—no small feat!

Casting him would also feel like a subtle nod to Matthew Lillard, who famously played Shaggy in the 2002 film and its sequel, since both actors share a connection to the Scream franchise: Lillard was one of the original killers, and Champion followed in those footsteps in Scream VI

Finn Wolfhard

Physically, Wolfhard’s got the tall, lanky build that defines Shaggy. And we know from his turn on Stranger Things that he excels at playing a friend who remains loyal, even in the face of fear—another crucial Shaggy trait. Assuming he’s game to jump back into another Netflix series so soon after wrapping his massive hit, he’d be a near-perfect fit. Zoinks!

Mason Thames

Some fans are eager to see Thames play Fred; others have pointed out that he’d actually make a pretty great Shaggy. They’re not wrong: A prequel would likely lean into Shaggy’s origin story—how he became the lovable scaredy-cat we know—and we saw in The Black Phone that Thames has the emotional range to make that evolution feel authentic. Plus, he has Shaggy’s signature lanky, slightly awkward build.

Cooper Hoffman

In Licorice Pizza, Hoffman played a fast-talking, impulsive teen with big ideas and zero filter, which feels somewhat Shaggy-esque. And while he may not match the iconic character’s exact build, he certainly shares his likeness when it comes to his hair color and rumpled charm. Plus, stepping into a Scooby series would mark a fun departure from Hoffman’s more highbrow film work, the kind of unexpected pivot his father, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, took with Along Came Polly.

Who should voice Scooby in the live-action Scooby-Doo prequel?  It would be iconic to bring Matthew Lillard back to the franchise as the voice of Scooby!

Photo by Frazer Harrison on Getty Images

Matthew Lillard

A contender with deep roots in the franchise, Lillard—who played Shaggy in the 2002 movie and its sequel—would be a clever full-circle pick.

Frank Welker

Welker has been voicing Scooby-Doo for decades across series and films—his signature “Ruh-roh!” is sacred to fans. Bringing him into a Netflix live-action prequel would instantly lend authenticity to the project.

Katharine LaNasa

ThePitt star comes to mind for her smoky, expressive voice and knack for playing the glue that holds everyone together.

Nikki Glaser

Back when she first hosted the Golden Globes in 2025, Glaser did an impression of Adam Sandler saying “Timothée Chalamet” that strongly suggests she could pull off a solid “Ruh-roh!” Plus, you know she’d bring the laughs to the press tour.

Disneyland Just Launched a New Way to See the Park—and It’s Not Your Average Tour

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:10am

If you’ve ever walked through a Disney theme park and wondered how a group of artists managed to turn a simple sketch into a global icon, a new experience at the "Happiest Place on Earth" is about to pull back the curtain.

Starting March 6, Disneyland is launching a brand-new guided experience that trades the usual trivia for a deep dive into the hidden history of the park’s most legendary attractions.

The Women Who Make the Magic Guided Tour is designed to spotlight the powerhouse creators whose names aren't always on the front of the map, but whose fingerprints are all over the park.

From the bold, colorful whimsy of Mary Blair—the artistic force who gave "it’s a small world" its signature look—to Leota Toombs, the Imagineer who literally became the face of the Haunted Mansion’s Madame Leota, the tour explores how these women shaped the visual language of our childhoods.

Timed perfectly for the start of Women's History Month, the tour moves beyond the typical tourist paths. Guests will be led on a curated walking route through the park, hearing "insider" stories about how these pioneers navigated a male-dominated industry to bring Walt Disney’s wildest visions to life. It’s a chance to see the park through a different lens, focusing on the design evolution and the artistic "secrets" hidden in plain sight.

Disneyland has been leaning heavily into its history lately, and this new offering is the latest way for families and casual fans to get a "behind-the-scenes" feel without needing a hard hat. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion or just someone who appreciates great design, the tour offers a unique perspective on how the magic actually gets made.

Reservations are officially live on the Disneyland website and app, and they are expected to go fast. While you might be able to snag a same-day spot at the Guided Tours booth near the park entrance, booking in advance is your best bet to ensure you don't miss out on this limited-time look at the women who built the dream.

1978 One Hit Wonder Proved Even Rock Icons Can Have Just One Big Smash

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:08am

In 1978, a singular rock classic gave a future Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee her one major hit in a career that would span more than five decades.

Patti Smith became an industry standout with the raw, unfiltered delivery of her collaboration with Bruce Springsteen on "Because the Night." The passionate love song reflected a defining moment in Smith's career, earning her a song that almost cracked the Billboard Top 10.

In an interview with CBS Mornings, Smith explained how her standout collaboration with Springsteen came to be. It was all thanks to producer Jimmy Iovine, a friend of both artists.

"Jimmy Iovine was engineering for Bruce Springsteen. He brought ['Because the Night'] on cassette," Smith explained.

"I didn't want to hear it," Smith continued. "I wanted us to write the record. I wanted it to reflect where we were and where I was."

"Jimmy prodded me night after night to listen to the tape, and one night I did. I knew right away. I said out loud 'it's one of those darn hits.' I just knew it, everything was there."

"It had the chorus, the chorus is not mine. I wrote the verses. I wouldn't know how to write a chorus like that," she added.

The titular collaboration fused Springsteen's catchy chorus with words of love written by Smith to her then-boyfriend, the inspiration for its lyrical longing. "I was very in love with my boyfriend Fred "Sonic" Smith, and he's the hero of the song. He's who I wrote the lyrics for," Smith revealed.

The couple would eventually marry in 1983 and welcome two children, Jesse and Jackson. Fred Smith died in 1994.

Patti Smith's legacy as a performer would be defined by her 1975 watershed LP Horses and its cornerstone tracks "Gloria," "Redondo Beach," and "Birdland." The album merged rock, punk, and poetry, earning Smith the non-official title of the Godmother of Punk Rock.

However, it was her career-defining collaboration with Bruce Springsteen that gave her the one big hit that shared her music with the masses. They celebrated their one-off partnership during Smith's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 by performing the classic tune together.

Patti Smith is also an author. She released Bread of Angels in 2025.

1973 Glam Rock Hit Went Straight to the Top of the Charts 53 Years Ago Today

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:07am

If you grew up during the '80s, chances are you associate the song "Cum on Feel the Noize" with the band Quiet Riot. But a decade before their version became the first single by a heavy metal band to break the Billboard Hot 100, the original track — by British glam rockers Slade — shot to the top of the charts in the U.K.

On March 3, 1973, Slade's "Cum on Feel the Noize" became their fourth number one in the U.K. and the band's only single to hit number one in the first week after its release, something that hadn't been accomplished by anyone since the Beatles with “Get Back” in 1969, per This Day in Music.

As Slade bassist Jim Lea explained in an interview with The Rockpit in 2020, it was important to the band to have songs that would make fans want to sing along.

"I just wanted to do that from the beginning where everything was sung along with the audience," he recalled. "But I never had the guts to just really go for it. When we did ‘Cum on Feel the Noize’ I was cleaning my car and the Beatles came on, it was ‘She Loves You’ I think, obviously not in 1963, this was in the 70’s on an old chart show or something. I love those shows where they pick a year and play songs from it, I find them really illuminating. I love when they do a chart rundown!"

Lea definitely accomplished his goal. After seeing Slade for the first time in 1973, iconic music critic Lester Bangs wrote, “I’ve never seen anything like it," as the Financial Times reported.

“Slade and its audience have more energy, more raunch and vitality, than the sagging corpus of rock has seen in many a moon," Bangs continued. "I walked into my first Slade concert totally unprepared, and got shook straight up. It was so powerful, and so beautiful, that you almost couldn’t take it; you almost had to leave the room.”

Quiet Riot turned 'Cum on Feel the Noize' into a hit in the U.S.

Quiet Riot's success with their 1983 cover of the song helped pave the way for countless hair metal record deals throughout the decade. As Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider explained in Nöthin' But a Good Time: The Uncensored History of the '80s Hard Rock Explosion, “Quiet Riot didn’t just break through. They didn’t just put a hole in the wall. They knocked the f—king wall down.”

As for Slade, while their original wasn't a hit in the U.S., they were at least able to profit Quiet Riot's good fortune.

“Quiet Riot’s version was rather cabaret — and I never, ever dreamed it would be a hit in the States,” Lea told Music Radar in 2018, going on to quip, “I just sat around in the garden and earned more money than ever before in my life.”

1989 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 36 Years Ago Today

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 6:00am

It was the end of an era and the start of another.

In 1990, we were at a cultural crossroads, saying farewell to the flash of the ’80s and ushering in the edge of the ’90s. Pop and R&B ruled the airwaves, with Paula Abdul’s 1988 Forever Your Girl and Madonna’s iconic Like a Prayer from 1989 still working their thangs. And, of course, there was another pop diva making massive moves at the turn of the decade.

Yes, it was Miss Janet. Miss Jackson if you’re nasty.

Following her self-titled debut album, released in 1982, Jackson dropped Dream Street in 1984 and Control in 1986, which went on to become a multiplatinum breakthrough feat.

Her fourth album, Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, debuted in 1989, and is widely considered her landmark project, as it topped the charts and still holds the historic Billboard record as the only album to ever produce seven top-five singles on the Hot 100 chart.

A concept album that redefined how pop music was delivered to audiences, Rhythm Nation produced six No. 1 singles and one top-five single. “Come Back to Me” peaked at No. 2, with “Miss You Much,” “Rhythm Nation,” “Alright,” “Black Cat,” “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” and “Escapade,” all peaking at No. 1.

It’s the latter, “Escapade,” that was No. 1 on this day, March 3, 36 years ago, and would stay there for three straight weeks.

View this post on Instagram

Originally inspired by ’60s Motown, “Escapade” booted Abdul’s “Opposites Attract” from the pinnacle spot and went on to become a massive summer jam, with a killer choreographed video to match. According to Stereogum, Jackson wanted to remake Martha and The Vandellas’ Motown oldie “Nowhere to Run,” but was talked out of that by regular collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

In Fred Bronson's Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits, per the outlet, Jam said, "I suggested that instead of doing a remake of ‘Nowhere to Run,’ let's do something that has that kind of feel to it, but do our own song. … ‘Escapade’ we thought was a cool word. It is kind of old fashioned. People don't say ‘Let’s go on an escapade’ anymore, but it really worked with that track.”

The escapist anthem then wrote itself, with Jackson supplying the flirty lyrics and her partners programming the drum mix, synth bass, and the rest. The song itself is simple in message — There are adventures yet to be had! Let’s go! — yet revelatory in execution. With a music video helmed by Peter Smillie and carnival-set choreography, the whole shebang added levity to the heavier beats of Rhythm Nation. And of course, it features that signature Janet giggle.

Give your Tuesday a lift and revisit Janet Jackson’s “Escapade” below.

The beauty industry has evolved dramatically in recent years. With advancements in technology have come a slew of noninvasive treatments designed to treat common skin concerns including wrinkles, sagging, scarring, and acne. Red light therapy is among the most popular. Once used primarily to treat some types of early skin cancer, the treatment is now a staple in many beauty routines around the world.

It's available in a variety of formats, including handheld wands, face masks, and full-body panels, all promising smoother skin and fewer fine lines when used regularly. The appeal of these glowing devices is largely because they're painless and bring an element of professional-grade service right to your home. And according to the experts we spoke with, they can be a worthwhile addition to a comprehensive routine.

"Light-based therapy is here to stay," said Dr. Hadley King, a board-certified dermatologist and Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College. She noted that the underlying biology gives red light therapy its staying power. At its core, the treatment relies on specific wavelengths of light to help your skin cells function more efficiently.

The result, according to Dr. Whitney Hovenic, a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon based in Reno, is support for collagen production, reduced inflammation, and improved overall skin repair. "It offers a gentle but meaningful way to be proactive about skin health," she explained.

Red light in the 630-660 nanometer range is typically used for surface-level concerns like texture and early wrinkles, explained esthetician Danielle Gamble, with near-infrared light between 830-850 nanometers to target issues like inflammation and tissue repair. Dr. Hovenic similarly cautioned against choosing based on price alone, noting that insufficient power output may not deliver meaningful results. The good news is that you don't have to spend a small fortune to reap the benefits of red light. The following well-reviewed picks span a range of budgets, and they start at just $68.

Solawave Radiant Renewal 4-in-1 Skincare Wand, $118 (was $169) at Amazon

C

Solawave's 4-in-1 wand is one of the most popular options on the market. The sleek, handheld tool combines red light therapy with a very gentle facial massage and light warmth. It glides smoothly over targeted areas and can be an especially useful preventative tool while also potentially slowing the development of crow's feet, frown lines, and other types of wrinkles. The massaging action can also perk up your complexion, brightening dull spots and reducing puffiness.

Expectations matter, though. "Results are subtle and cumulative, not dramatic," Dr. King noted, adding that red light won't tighten significant laxity or replace injectables or lasers. Dr. Aderonke Obayami, a board-certified dermatologist at Mount Sinai Doctors in New York, added that she views it as "part of a comprehensive skin strategy, but not a standalone solution."

Clara Red Light Therapy LED Face Mask, $99 at Walmart

V

Those who prefer full-face coverage can bring the spa experience right to their home with this mask. Combining red and infrared light to firm, brighten, and repair acne, it's clinically proven to deliver results in two to four weeks. Made with smooth silicone, it features adjustable straps for a comfortable fit and has a built-in timer that turns the device off after the recommended 10-minute treatment. Once a day is all that you need to potentially see a change in both the tone and texture of your skin.

Viconor Red Infrared Light Therapy Lamp, $68 (was $90) at Amazon

C

This is a comprehensive option that treats both the face and body with 660 nanometers of red light and 850 nanometers of infrared light. Full-body therapy can be useful in improving blood circulation and metabolism, and this is a solid price for a lamp that you can easily position over different areas. Because it's a floor lamp, it offers flexibility for those who are curious about red light's skin and muscle recovery benefits and want to weave it into their daily routine. Featuring a curved silhouette, the lamp is safe to use for up to 30 minutes daily.

If you’re considering adding one of these devices to your routine, just take note that experts emphasize that red light therapy isn't for everyone. "The best candidates are patients with acne, sun damage, rosacea, inflammation, fine lines, and wrinkles," said Beverly Hills aesthetics specialist Mariana Vergara, NP-C, adding that pregnant patients and individuals with photosensitive conditions or those taking medications that increase light sensitivity should speak with a provider first. All experts also agreed that it should not be used over active cancers or suspicious lesions.

Whether you opt for a wand, a mask, or a lamp, all of these modalities can provide the benefits of red light therapy at home. Think of it as an addition to your self-care routine, optimizing your beauty regimen with a spa-at-home element that allows you valuable time to focus on yourself.
