Over time, I’ve learned that the most useful carry-on items are the ones that reduce stress and work in multiple situations. Whether I’m heading out for a quick overnight or a longer trip, my approach to packing stays the same: streamlined, practical and easy to access.

As someone who covers shopping and travel for outlets like Coveteur, Martha Stewart Weddings and Harper’s Bazaar, I’ve tested countless suitcases, organizers, beauty minis and travel gadgets. After trying just about everything, these are the items that are always in my carry-on, no matter where I’m headed, including a clutch, portable chargers and adapters and a few other essentials I rely on from takeoff to landing.

'Will Trent' Star Iantha Richardson Takes the Director’s Chair for Heart-Stopping Death-Row Episode (Exclusive)

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 9:02am

When Will Trent airs tonight, it will mark Iantha Richardson’s television episodic directorial debut, and it’s quite an episode as it deals with capital punishment, giving her quite the topic to tackle.

The subject matter comes up when a witness shockingly reveals that his testimony in a murder trial was false, forcing Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) and Faith Mitchell (Richardson) to race against the clock and reinvestigate a death-row case, trying to prevent an innocent man from being executed.

“I loved it,” Richardson exclusively tells Parade of getting assigned such weighty material to direct. “I never anticipated in my life being able to tell that lens of it. Even in playing a detective, I never anticipated being a detective on this side of capital punishment. I thought what an opportunity to shine a lens on what it looks like. To show that the people that you see, who you think are doing certain things, aren’t always there, and to eradicate stereotypes, to show that we aren’t monoliths. All of those things are genuine purposes of mine personally. So, I was really grateful that I was able to be a part of that narrative.”

Both Ramón Rodríguez, who stars as Will Trent, and Christensen have directed previous episodes of the hit ABC series, so Richardson had the support of her cast and crew when she took the reins. But she says when it came to having to direct her own scenes, she trusted a lot on her scene partners and on her DP Tim Gillis.

“He not only served as a shepherd for things that I didn’t know, but he was a pioneer for my goals and my dreams, and I could trust him with that,” Richardson says. “To have him as well as everybody else in the crew surrounding you, I was really upheld in a beautiful way. I was able to relinquish some of the things that I would have felt precious if I was totally directing or totally acting to be able to have a split mind in those moments so that I could do both at the same time.”

The one big difference between previous projects that Richardson has directed and the “It Was a Meat Cute” episode of Will Trent was the money. Previous projects include a short film and a web series, which had her scrambling to figure things out with the finances.

“Here, you still have budget restrictions. But it’s like the world is your oyster, which can you imagine in terms of what you would want to do visually for this?” she says.

But time was also a fact. “There’s a lot more time than any short that I’ve ever done,” she continues. “So, I think it just felt a lot more easeful and streamlined. But you also have other people who have the idea that this is their baby, and so you want to be able to carry it to success as much as possible. Somebody’s handing something to you and you’re trying to hand it back as much as you can better than what they gave you.”

Did you learn anything new about yourself from directing this episode?
One of the biggest things that I feel like I took away from this was people and people management and communication. The kind of leader or collaborator that I’d like to be I already knew, but to put it in action is a whole other thing. There were days where I had to give myself pep talks and be like, ‘Okay, well this is the roadblock, this is the obstacle, this is what you’re going up against, and how do you want to go about it. How do you want to actually show your character the way that you say you have it?’ So, I learned that I could do it in real time even when things weren’t or people didn’t feel like they were necessarily in ease side by side with me or alignment in some things, but it all worked out at the end of the day. Everybody is coming in for a common goal.

Ianatha Richard as Faith Mitchell and Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent

Disney/Daniel Delgado Jr.

In Season 1, Faith really disliked Will because he was responsible for her mother being forced to retire, but they have developed into this really great partnership. Talk about the journey along the way for you as an actress and how you develop the character.
I sit with my coach, often every episode, Ted and I go through everything, and he really helps me track from Season 1 to now her feelings, her thoughts, her forgiveness, her reconciliations – all of those things, and how it all aligns with her relationship with Will. I think that Will and Faith’s story is one for the books. It requires a lot of empathy and compassion on her end and a lot of understanding and growth on his [end] also. I think they’ve both grown beautifully together as they’ve gone through different things, life-changing life-saving situations which brought them essentially closer and able to see each other’s point of view in a really beautiful way currently as it stands.

Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent and Julia Chan as Ava Green

Disney/Matt Miller

Speaking of growth, one of the things I noticed in your directorial episode is that when Will goes on his date with Ava, he’s not wearing his three-piece suit. He’s actually wearing a very cool jacket and a sweater underneath that. That’s a very different Will. How did that come about that?
That wasn’t necessarily my doing, but I would have said something about it. We have a costumer, Mary Jane [Fort], who is beautiful at what she does and knows story extremely well. So that was hers, for sure. But I think the divergence from his normal three-piece suit had a lot to do with the storyline that was being told. He’s not in his normal space; he’s trusting somebody in a way that he does not trust people at all, specifically a woman outside of Angie. That is unheard of. He is really letting go.

The theme of this is that you could let go and life will not break apart. The overarching theme is rage. And so, this is a slice of life that takes us out of this overarching very angry, rage-filled and honestly, self-loathing version of Will and puts him in joy. It puts him in fun and adventure. And I think his clothing is a reflection of that.

At the end of your episode, it looks like Ormewood [Jake McLaughlin] might start a romance with Joanne Drexel [Ilfenesh Hadera]? Is that a tease for what may come?
It was a tease. The writers wrote it in. Their chemistry was amazing. I just said press play, for lack of better words. Yeah, I think that there’s potential for romance for sure. We don’t know exactly where it’s going to go. Sometimes the writers say that they write to the chemistry of the show, and they do, but I think there is very good potential, given what they saw from my episode, for there to be more in the future, for sure.

Ilfenesh Hadera as Joanne Drexel and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood

Disney/Matt Miller

But Faith has fun, because you have so many different hairdos. Most of those are wigs though, right, because you couldn’t do all that to your own hair?
They weren’t, but now they are. Some of them were, some of them weren’t, which you know can cause damage to your hair, which is nobody’s fault but me wanting to be creative with the hairstyles. But now in this season, they are all wigs. A lot of them were like pieces to the hair that were added on, but a lot of that was my hair, actually, at that time – other than the braids, obviously.

I really wanted to show that Black women specifically, and Faith being a Black woman, we change our hair so often. It’s normal for us to be like, I want my hair straight, and then I want it curly, and then I want braids. I was inspired by being on This Is Us, because if anyone would notice, Susan [Kelechi Watson] or any of the little girls had a different hairstyle almost every episode. And I was like, ‘That is so real.’ Just a mom every day, you might have this hairstyle when you go out, and it might just be normal or like whatever your normal is for another day. But I really wanted to highlight that in a creative way as Faith goes about her days.

Your character also has diabetes. Do you know somebody who has it? Did you have to research it? Why do you think it’s important for the character?
I think it’s important for the character because Faith has, as well as Will, a large wall. It’s hard for her to be accessed, and when you have chinks in the armor it allows for vulnerability for people to get in. So, from a story standpoint, I can see that her diabetes is a place sometimes for people to seep in and to see her for not her weakness, but her actual self, her navigating this new thing as a very young woman.

My grandma had diabetes for most of her life. She died at 96. And my vantage point from it was so removed because I was young at the time when I was around her when she had it. But it almost felt like it wasn’t a thing for her. She was so good at holding everything [together]. She had 10 kids, so that was one thing.

Although her kids would make sure she took her insulin or pricked her finger and didn’t have too much sugar, it never felt like it was overriding her life. And so, stepping into this version with Faith, it feels like an override of life, and I can see how much she was carrying simultaneous to life itself. So, it was very eye-opening. It gave me a lot of information about her, this woman who I knew inside and out, or I thought I did, in a really beautiful way.

There have been some really fun dance videos that have come from this set. I know that you have studied dance, and I think maybe you were with Alvin Ailey for a while?
I wasn’t with the company, but I got my BFA in dance from a dual program with the Ailey School and Fordham University. I’ve performed with Ailey in their Peace Memorial and some of their City Center seasons, but I haven’t been in the company first or second. But I did go to the school, and I trained with them, and that’s where I got my college degree.

Are the dance segments something that the scriptwriters came up with and put in the episode? Or is something that you guys started doing on the set and then you said ‘oh we’re going to post these on TikTok and Instagram.’ Because they’re very fun.
No! The scriptwriters, that’s them. Liz [Heldens], one of our showrunners loves dance. She had a whole show [The Big Leap] about dance right before this show came about. She loves to insert dance and music wherever she can. And I love it because I’m a dancer. So, that’s where it came from.

Does everybody have moves?
Yes, they do! Surprisingly. Even the people who act like they don’t or don’t want to, they are forced because we have to for the show, but they all can dance, and I love to watch it. It just brings joy to the set.

Do they bring in a choreographer, or do you just improvise?
Oh no, we have a choreographer, and they’re amazing. They actually were nominated for an Emmy last year, surprisingly. Surprisingly, because we’re a procedural, not because they aren’t fantastic.

Bluebell as Betty

Disney/Chris Reel

Betty is so much the heart of the show. We all love her. Is it difficult to direct Betty?
No. She just has her own set of rules and way that she operates, and how she takes direction; you just have to be very clear with what you want her to do. That’s it.

And her trainer can get her to do it?
Her trainer, typically, as long as you tell them in advance, they can get her to do it. She has a lot of requirements of treats. So, that’s all she needs to get the job done.

I was watching an interview that you did with KTLA, and you were talking about being a perfectionist. It was in terms of food, but are you just in terms of food, or does that translate into other areas of your life? Because Faith is so not a perfectionist.
She’s not. I’m not as far right as her, or left as her, and outside of food, I wouldn’t necessarily label myself a perfectionist in all ways, but I do have perfectionist tendencies, if that makes sense. I definitely am not messy. My house could never be a mess. I would go crazy if I was like Faith, or my car, like those things are not me. But I can be a little bit more flowy with the way that I allow myself to go, and things like that. With my work, I can be a perfectionist. With my goals, I can be a perfectionist. But there’s room in between those things.

Will Trent airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Streams next day on Hulu.

Japan Raises Price of Iconic Tourist Attraction for Non-Residents and It Is Worth Every Penny

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 9:00am

Japan has just taken a bold step in reshaping its tourism landscape. Starting March 1, 2026, Himeji Castle, one of the country’s most iconic and beloved historic sites, more than doubled its admission price for visitors who don’t live in Himeji City. The new adult ticket for non-residents now costs ¥2,500 (about $16), up from ¥1,000, while local residents still enjoy the original rate. Children and youth under 18 remain free regardless of residency.

This change has sparked conversation around travel costs, overtourism, and how countries balance accessibility with preservation, but beyond the headlines, there’s a compelling case that this increase is not only justified, but beneficial to visitors and the site’s future.

View this post on Instagram Overtourism Is Real

Japan’s tourism boom is back with a vengeance. In 2025, foreign visitors to Japan reached record heights, topping the previous year’s total by roughly 16 percent and pushing the country well past pre-pandemic visitor numbers. That surge brings economic benefits, but also very real challenges: crowded streets, stressed heritage sites, overfull public transit, and significant pressure on local communities.

Across Japan, local governments are trying to respond. Kyoto, another major destination, has implemented a new five-tier tourism lodging tax that charges visitors up to ¥10,000 per person per night depending on accommodation price. National cultural agencies are even exploring differentiated pricing at museums and galleries within the next five years.

These aren’t isolated changes, they’re part of a global trend. Many countries struggling with heavy tourist traffic, from Egypt (with the Pyramids) to India (with the Taj Mahal) and even France’s Louvre Museum, use tiered pricing or higher fees for non-residents to help fund preservation and manage demand.

So Why Is the Price Increase Worth It?

When travelers hear “price increase,” the first reaction is often “That sounds steep.” But a visit to Himeji Castle is a journey into one of Japan’s most remarkable achievements of medieval architecture and a living testament to centuries of history.

1. A Masterpiece Preserved Through Time

Himeji Castle is widely regarded as Japan’s finest surviving castle complex. Its brilliant white exterior, which has earned it nicknames like “White Heron Castle,” and sprawling defensive design capture both artistic beauty and historical ingenuity. It’s one of the few castles in Japan that remains intact from the feudal era, with original structures dating back over 400 years.

This level of preservation doesn’t come cheap. Maintaining wooden interiors, ancient plaster walls, roof tiles, structural supports, and safety features is an ongoing, expensive effort. The doubled entry fee helps ensure the castle can be protected against earthquakes, weathering, and the wear that comes with millions of visitors.

Related: Japan Cancels a Beloved Cherry Blossom Festival as Tourism Hits Record Highs

2. Less Crowding, More Experience

Higher entry costs can also act as a natural crowds management tool. When thousands of tourists rush to a site every day, the experience degrades for everyone, long queues, packed walkways, and rushed photo stops become the norm. By charging a premium, the castle’s custodians can moderate foot traffic and encourage visitors to plan visits more thoughtfully, especially during peak seasons like cherry blossom time in spring.

3. Support for Local Economy and Services

Non-resident admission fees contribute directly to local conservation. Unlike general city taxes that go to broad municipal spending, this revenue is earmarked for the castle itself, from staff training to multilingual signage, audio guides, and enhanced interpretive materials that enrich the visitor experience.

Plus, preserving a world heritage site means more than walls and floors. It’s about protecting the cultural landscape, enhancing public spaces, and ensuring that the next generation can experience this treasure as we do today.

Japan’s decision reflects a broader rethink of how iconic sites, and the destinations that surround them, should balance visitor access with sustainability. It’s about making tourism work for locals and travelers alike, not against them.

For visitors, that means paying a bit more upfront but enjoying a better experience, knowing your ticket directly supports the legacy and longevity of a priceless cultural wonder.

In an era where overtourism can degrade the very places we travel to see, thoughtful fee structures like this aren’t a tax, they’re an investment in the future of travel itself.

Iconic ‘70s Rock Band Announces First U.S. Tour in 23 Years

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 9:00am

The Guess Who are back and they’re coming to the U.S. this summer.

The Canadian band led by rock legends Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman recently won back the rights to their band name and to celebrate they’re launching the Takin’ It Back tour on June 25 in Minneapolis, Minn.

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

The U.S. tour, which follows previously announced Canadian dates, will also stop in Chicago, Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, as well as other markets. Former Eagles member Don Felder will serve as the opening act.

“Randy and I are incredibly grateful that our music has endured all these years. Knowing that people still want to hear these songs live means everything to us, and when we go out on stage, our goal is to truly honor the music.” Cummings said in a statement.

“I’m really excited about reuniting with Burton and touring again as The Guess Who. We created an amazing body of work together, along with memories that have lasted for decades, and those songs are still as strong as ever. I can’t wait to sing them with everyone very soon.” Bachman added.

Tickets will be available via a Citi presale beginning on March 4 at 10 a.m. local time, followed by an artist presale on that same day at noon local time. Additional presales will run throughout the week, leading up to the general sale on March 6 at 10 a.m. local time on TheGuessWho.com.

Formed in 1965 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Guess Who had an incredible run before calling it quits in 1975, with 14 singles in the top 40, including “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature” and “No Time.” In addition, the band’s 1970 album American Woman, reached No. 9 in the U.S. and topped the chart in Canada. The single “American Woman” became the first No. 1 single by a Canadian band to top the Hot 100 when it reached the summit in 1970. The band was so successful, they were dubbed “the Canadian Beatles.”

“American Woman” enjoyed a second life when it was covered by Lenny Kravitz in 1999 for the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me soundtrack.

After the Guess Who broke up in 1975, former bass player Jim Kale launched an unauthorized version of the band and toured and recorded under the Guess Who banner for several decades before Bachman and Cummings were finally able to regain control of the band name in 2024 after a protracted legal battle.

Bachman and Cummings played their first show as the Guess Who in 23 years back on Jan. 31 at the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada with a set of Guess Who classics as well as three hits by Bachman Turner Overdrive, Bachman’s post-Guess Who combo, and a solo selection from Cummings.

Nancy Guthrie Latest Update: Neighbor Explains Why Video Footage Has Been a 'Challenge' for Investigators

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 8:43am

The search for answers in the case of Nancy Guthrie has often centered on whether nearby security cameras captured anything useful. But neighbor Jeff Lamie says the reality may be more complicated.

Speaking on a recent podcast, Lamie outlined what he described as the shortcomings of video systems at surrounding homes, explaining that camera angles, resolution limits and coverage gaps could make it difficult to extract clear or actionable footage tied to the investigation.

On the Surviving The Survivor podcast, Lamie explained that the residents have cameras to protect their own homes. And, because of how many of the lots are laid out, many of these camera angles don't show much beyond property lines.

— Surviving The Survivor Podcast (@PodcastSTS) March 3, 2026

"The challenge is...the cameras were situated to view your home, to protect your home. And with the size of the lots, they didn't really capture much beyond that," Lamie explained, acknowledging that this is just his personal assessment and he's unsure what, if anything, law enforcement has been able to see in video footage shared by residents in the area.

Lamie went on to say that, to his understanding, footage from his home and from his neighbors' homes didn't show anything of use.

Perhaps the most important video footage would be whatever authorities can get from Guthrie's home. The 84-year-old went missing on Sunday, Feb. 1, and it's believed that she may have been abducted in the middle of the night. However, without a subscription to Google Nest, those videos have been hard to come by.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI released some video footage that was recovered from Guthrie's front door the night that she went missing. Outside of those clips, however, no additional footage has been released.

In an interview with NewsNation’s Brian Entin, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos clearly stated that authorities have not received any additional footage from Guthrie's home cameras.

"We’ve asked Google,” Nanos told Entin. “They said…’Sheriff, we don’t think we can get anything. But we’ll try.'"

New RHONY Star Exposed for Allegedly Body-Shaming Influencer in DMs Dating Back to 2017

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 8:41am

When the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City Season 16 was announced on March 2, podcaster Claudia Oshry immediately recognized one name: Hailey Glassman, a woman she claims had been sending her body-shaming messages on Instagram since 2017.

And Oshry came prepared with years of receipts.

In a TikTok video posted just hours after Glassman was named one of the newbies of RHONY, Oshry shared screenshots of numerous Instagram DMs she says she received from Glassman, including insulting and persistent messages that mocked her weight.

"I know Hailey Glassman. She has been a troll of mine, like a deep internet troll, since 2017," Oshry said. She then shared a DM from Glassman that read, "Omg your voice is so annoying. Like Janice from Friends."

Oshry claimed that Glassman was "obsessed" with her weight, showcasing DMs that read, "Damn, you were thin," and "Skinny minnie, now."

While another shocking message read, "Looks great but you gotta own you’re on wegovy. You’re an influencer and you really should be honest on your platform about it. When you need any skin tightening, since you def lost enough to need it, I’ll set you up with a great plastic surgeon in NYC."

The messages continued. "Incredible shrinking woman. Once you get to where you want, we’ll take care of you for a 30s neck lift. #GlassmanPlasticSurgery."

Glassman even took aim at Oshry's husband, Ben Soffer, DMing the influencer, "#DadBod lol."

Oddly, Glassman sent a Happy Mother's Day DM to Oshry, and a month later, wrote, "So weird how you were skinnier pregnant than you were 2 years ago not pregnant. You’re a magician! Congrats Momma."

View this post on Instagram

“I don’t know what barrel Bravo was scraping the bottom of casting this person, but it’s giving Monica from Salt Lake City," Oshry shared, referring to Monica Garcia, who appeared on Season 4 of RHOSLC but was later booted off the show for running an Instagram troll account about the Utah ladies.

According to People, Glassman, who works as a public relations professional, will also be joined by newbies Erika Hammond, a celebrity fitness trainer, and Daisy Toye, a celebrity makeup artist, for the new season.

Returning cast members include Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, and Sai De Silva. It was also revealed that RHONY alum Carole Radziwill would also be joining Season 16.

Boasting a slightly rustic yet sculptural vibe, the bookshelf is made from engineered wood. The effect is naturally down to earth, making it a fitting addition to a classic home or rooms where cottagecore and farmhouse aesthetics are dominant. Many shoppers felt the "tree" design lent the structure an especially unique vibe.

It's a practical fit even for more compact rooms, standing 43.3 inches tall and measuring 14.2 inches wide. With a depth of just over 7 inches, it's just right for nudging into a corner or pushing against the wall. Each tier offers plenty of space to stack up to 10 books, with an overall capacity of about 77 pounds. There's even a roomy drawer at the bottom that provides a concealed compartment for extra books or other small items.

The size makes it more versatile than the average bookshelf, too. Several customers noted they set it up in children's bedrooms, man caves, home offices, and even classrooms. It also comes with a wall anchor, with easy instructions that shoppers said made assembly a relatively simple and straightforward process.

"Beautiful and well made," one person wrote. "This is the sturdiest piece of furniture you can buy. Absolutely gorgeous!" Another reviewer said that it's "perfect for organizing a small, cluttered space" and added that it's "quirky, cute, and stylish."

Tyler Perry's Where There's Smoke will consist of 16 episodes, and will be written, directed and produced by Perry. This serves as the latest of a handful of series in his creative partnership with Netflix, joining shows like Beauty in Black, Miss Governor and A Madea Homecoming.

This series will serve as only the second on-screen appearance for Hunter outside of the Fijian islands. Last year, he was spotlighted in an episode of 48 Hours, centered around the story of his late sister, Joanna. Titled "Joe Hunter's Mission," it told the story of her life and death, and Hunter and his family's yearslong into investigation into her possible murder at the hands of her former husband, Mark Lewis. Joanna was the original Survivor fan in the household, and Hunter has used her as an inspiration in both of the seasons he's played so far.

"I didn't get to put to rest that dream, because I did promise her a win," Hunter tells Parade on the island days before the start of Survivor 50. "And so I need to make right on that promise. And I never mentioned that because I just thought I was gonna have to put that to bed. Obviously, you play once, I gave it my honest, and that was a peace I made with her. But I got another shot, and I can make it right, and I can bring home a win for her."

‘The Traitors’: Rob Rausch Costars in Eric Nam's ‘How the Fire Started’ Music Video

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 8:14am

Fellow season 4 traitors reunite because they have unfinished business.Eric Nam'smusical abilities were used as misleading evidence on the Peacock reality show. Now he's back with a new music video, and Rob Rausch will face off with him for betraying him.

Spoiler warning for The Traitors Season 4 winner.

The Traitors Season 4 faithfuls get revenge with Eric

Eric, 37, posted a teaser for "How the Fire Started" on TikTok on March 2. There is a close-up of the singer's belt buckle with the letter e on it. The camera shows his face and more of his cowboy hat and outfit. Rob walks up in his beloved overalls, cowboy hat, and rope. They look like they're preparing for a standoff in a pen for animals. "This time, I won't let him make me a fool," is written over the video. The music video came out the next day.

Eric stars as "The Vengeful" and Rob is "Robby Bobby." The lyrics are about Rob never caring about him. The Traitors' faithfuls are introduced as cowboys one by one. Yam Yam Arocho is "El Toro," Maura Higgins is "The Velvet Blade," Natalie Anderson is "The Iron Mare," Ron Funches is "The Rattler."

The faithfuls tie up Robby Bobby and pour gasoline on him. They walk away after lighting a fire. However, Ron feels guilty and goes back to save him.

Rob recruited Eric to be a traitor after Lisa Rinna and Candiace Dillard-Bassett were banished. The Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star 2 alum was a quiet and nervous traitor. "I'm hoping that the nice guy can win in the end," Eric told host Alan Cumming in the finale. He made it to the fire of truth with Tara Lipinski, Maura, and Rob. They voted to banish Tara. Maura and Rob then turned on Eric.

Eric defended himself by voting to banish Rob. He said he was certain Maura was a faithful and that left Rob as the last remaining traitor. Rob voted for Eric and said, "Sorry, dude." Maura also apologized to the singer. That left Rob as the last traitor, taking home over $200,000.

Cazzie David Reveals Her ‘Only Skill’ —and Seth Meyers Became the Punchline

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 8:10am

Despite clearly having many talents, Cazzie David joked to Seth Meyers that she really has only one true skill: renaming celebrities to match their “true essence.”

David stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to celebrate the release of her new book, Delusions, where she broke down her tongue-in-cheek celebrity renaming process — a bit she frequently showcases on Instagram.

"It's a gift," the 31-year-old explained. "But I more read their essence and give them a better name that fits their essence. It's definitely not a better name."

David put those skills on display beginning with actor Jack Black, explaining, "because he's not really a Jack. To me... a Dodger. I stand by that."

An image of Demi Moore was swiftly matched with the name Joan. "Now I'm starting to understand how it works," Meyers said, trying to hold back his laughter. David then insisted that Michael B. Jordan just isn't a Michael. "I mean, no offense to Michaels, but I think that's a good thing to not be a Michael," she said.

After ruminating over why you don’t want to "exude Michael," David concluded that Jordan should actually be a Ritchie. Clearly. "I think Richie's a cool essence," she asserted.

Her next renaming — Nicolas Cage — is one she’s "done before," referring to the actor as a Jonah, to which Meyers added, "That's the most I've agreed with you so far."

David continued cycling through celebrities, even pushing back when Meyers suggested Rachel McAdams was "giving off" Rachel vibes. No, David insisted, McAdams is Josie because it’s "a little more spunky."

Naturally, Meyers couldn’t resist asking David to rename her father, comedian Larry David. However, "because unlike some of the others, he's very much a Larry David," she admitted. Still, she added that he could also be a Clyde.

By the end of the segment, Meyers hoped David would agree that he’s a Seth — and thankfully, she did. "I do think you are totally a Seth."

She did, however, have an alternate name she wasn’t sure he’d like. "You could be a Robin," she said. Laughing, Meyers replied that it was going to "take me a month to process that. But I'm really happy you shared it with me because I think a lot of people, if they thought that about me, would, like, keep it to themselves."

Late Night with Seth Meyers is on weeknights on NBC.

David's book Delusions is now available for purchase.

Norwegian Cruise Line Just Reversed Its Controversial New Dress Code After Guest Backlash

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 8:10am

For anyone who has ever stressed over what to pack for a week at sea, Norwegian Cruise Line is making things a little easier—or at least, a little more flexible. After a recent attempt to tighten the rules on dining room attire sparked a wave of passenger pushback, the cruise line appears to be softening its stance and returning to its "freestyle" roots.

In recent weeks, Norwegian had rolled out stricter signage at its main dining rooms and specialty restaurants, explicitly banning items like tank tops, hoodies, robes, baseball caps and jeans with holes or tears. The move was a departure from the line’s laid-back reputation, and many regular cruisers felt the new rules were a bit too rigid for a vacation that markets itself on choice.

Fast forward to today, and guests onboard have spotted a new breed of "relaxed" signage, according to Cruise Hive. The updated language is much more inviting: “We simply ask that attire feels put-together and suited to the setting.” While the signs still ask guests to keep swimwear by the pool and avoid "extremely short shorts" in the dining room, the specific laundry list of banned items has largely vanished.

However, as any seasoned cruiser knows, "put-together" is in the eye of the beholder. The shift has left some travelers asking for more consistency. "I don’t care what the guidelines are—but they need to be clear," one guest commented on Reddit. "I don't like how vague they manage to make it, all while still advertising ‘freestyle’ cruising!"

It’s worth noting that a few of the line's high-end specialty spots—like Cagney’s, Le Bistro, and Ocean Blue—still maintain a "no shorts or flip-flops" policy for dinner to preserve that upscale atmosphere. But for the rest of the ship, it seems the "clothing police" have been called off.

Whether you're a fan of dressing to the nines or you prefer a "No shirt, no shoes, no problem" vibe, the message from Norwegian is clear: they’ve heard the feedback. Just maybe keep the bathrobe in your cabin when it's time for dessert.

Cillian Murphy Shares Surprising Reaction to Taylor Swift's 'Opalite' Video Appearance

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 8:08am

Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy stunned everyone after making an appearance in Taylor Swift's Opalitemusic video. While fans are still figuring out how this surreal crossover even happened, Murphy is finally opening up about how he ended up in the middle of a Swift production.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Oppenheimer star, who is usually known for his intense portrayals and quiet public persona, discussed his cameo and explained how what seemed like a standard night on a talk show couch eventually morphed into an invitation he couldn't pass up.

When asked about the experience, the 49-year-old actor didn't shy away from praising the pop sensation. He went on to describe the track as a "really sweet, lovely song" and spoke warmly about the music video. "It’s amazing, we were all on the sofa together, and then she reached out, and of course we all said yeah. It’s good, it’s a really sweet, lovely song and video," Murphy said.

The smile on the actor's face showed he was genuinely pleased with the finished product, noting he was happy to have been involved in such a creative and positive endeavor. The actor added, "I was happy to be involved."

The Folklore hitmaker actually got the idea for her new music video after a memorable night on The Graham Norton Show. She decided to bring back the same group of guests she sat on the red sofa with during that episode to star in the project.

The video for Opalite is packed with familiar faces, featuring actors Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, and Jodie Turner-Smith, alongside singer Lewis Capaldi. Even Graham Norton himself makes an appearance. While he isn't seen dancing on screen, Murphy lent his famous voice to the track, providing a special voiceover that ties the whole thing together.

Work-wise, the Academy Award-winning star is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Manwhich is scheduled to hit theaters in the US on March 6. Meanwhile, it will be available for streaming globally on Netflix on March 20th, 2026.

McDonald’s CEO Video Review of Big Arch Burger Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:59am

The Golden Arches are currently under a digital microscope, and for once, it’s not because the ice cream machine is down. Instead, the internet has found its new favorite comedy: McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski attempting to eat the company’s massive new Big Arch burger without actually looking like he wants to eat it.

The viral clip, which has been making the rounds on social media, features Kempczinski introducing the beefy newcomer as a "product"—a term usually reserved for shampoo or industrial solvent—before taking a bite so tiny it would make a hamster look like a competitive eater.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ulbVWj6NYL8

In what was likely intended as a polished promotional moment, the CEO offered a nibble that can only be described as cautious. Rather than the hearty, "I’m lovin’ it" enthusiasm the brand has spent decades cultivating, social media users said Kempczinski looked visibly uncomfortable, remarking, “There’s so much going on with this,” with a flash of what viewers called "genuine regret."

The reaction on Reddit was swift and ruthless. One user captured the collective confusion, asking: “Is this intended to drive sales lol? While McDonald’s is the ultimate everyman brand, its leader handled the burger as if it were radioactive. The disconnect provided an open goal for social media critics.

“I thought about that, but then I thought who's gonna tell the CEO 'we can't upload it because you come off like you've never eaten a burger in your life'?” one commenter noted. Another observer added: “Easy. 'It didn't do well in internal testing.' He knows he's not really the face of the brand.”

As if the viral roasting weren't enough, Burger King decided to turn the heat up. In a masterfully timed piece of troll-marketing, Burger King North America President Tom Curtis showed the internet how a burger is actually consumed. Curtis posted a clip where he didn’t just take a bite—he attacked a Whopper, ending up with a smudge of mayonnaise on his face. It was messy, it was authentic, and it made the McDonald’s micro-bite look even more like a taste test gone wrong.

View this post on Instagram

For many, the awkwardness was all about the vibe. By calling food a "product," Kempczinski leaned into the sterile vocabulary of a boardroom. “I guarantee him and his cronies insisted to marketing that this would go great,” one Reddit thread read, while another user provided a "friendly reminder that CEOs speak almost exclusively to shareholders. And it shows."

The most scathing critiques centered on the apparent lack of familiarity with the menu. “He didn’t even know what was in his own 'product.' Two patties, some lettuce and a bun?? YUM!!!! Could they have not given him more info? It’s obvious he’s not involved at all in anything,” a user remarked.

Whether this was camera shyness or a man who truly prefers a kale salad, the "McNibble" is now internet history. As one commenter put it: “Yeah this is my first time ever seeing the CEO of McDonald's and, well, it tracks.”

Next time, Mickey D's might want to let an actual hungry person do the talking.

Beck is Taking His Catalog Overseas This Spring — With a Symphonic Twist

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:57am

A man who needs no introduction.

If you need proof, check out the music documentary The Sparks Brothers (2021), which features an interview with Beck. Instead of giving the Grammy-winning artist, 55, a subtitle to remind viewers who he is in the world, it simply reads "see above" under his name.

And now, more than 30 years after he broke into the biz with his hit song "Loser," Beck is continuing to expand his reach with new spins on his music.

The Grammy-winning artist, 55, just announced that he's bringing a "symphonic reinterpretation" of his catalog to Australia for the first time, Billboard reports. He'll perform five orchestral shows this May, including three nights at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

The "Up All Night" singer has previously taken his catalog to London’s Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl in orchestral form, the music magazine also noted on Monday, March 2.

Despite the "pop" sound that bleeds into Beck's various albums over the years, fans will recall that his LPs Sea Change and Morning Phase — the latter of which won album of the year at the Grammy Awards — are tinged with orchestral sounds.

Beck last performed in Australia in 2023, appearing at Bluesfest and Harvest Rock alongside headline theatre dates. The 2026 performances mark a more curated, concept-driven return, per Billboard.

The versatile artist has moved fluidly between alternative, pop, electronic and folk over these past three decades, earning multiple Billboard 200 top 10 albums along the way.

Presale tickets for Sydney Opera House Insiders members begin March 3, with additional presales on March 4. General on-sale begins March 5, with Sydney tickets available from 10 a.m. AEDT and Melbourne tickets from 11 a.m. AEDT, per Billboard.

Here are the tour dates:

  • May 7 – Sydney Opera House, Sydney
  • May 8 – Sydney Opera House, Sydney
  • May 9 – Sydney Opera House, Sydney
  • May 12 – Palais Theatre, Melbourne
  • May 13 – Palais Theatre, Melbourne

Chick-fil-A Quietly Makes Long-Awaited Change to Waffle Fries and Fans Couldn't Be Happier

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:45am

Most people would agree that when it comes to a tried-and-true favorite, it should probably just be left alone. The saying goes, "If ain't broke, don't fix it," for a reason. Not everything needs to be new and improved or amped up with extra protein. Sometimes the original is just better. Sure, some change is inevitable and maybe even necessary, but why reinvent the wheel if you really don't have to? Especially when it comes to things we've grown accustomed to, like Twinkies or the Big Mac, any subtle change to the recipe can have a dramatic impact on the overall taste and experience.

Imagine if Reese's decided to replace their creamy peanut butter centers with various flavors of nougat or if In-N-Out decided to change the recipe for their famous spread. It would be pure pandemonium that could potentially tear a hole in the fabric of the space-time continuum as we know it—just saying. OK, maybe we are being just a touch dramatic, but the point still remains. Some things are just better the way they were.

Chick-fil-A Removes Pea Starch From Waffle Fry Recipe

Case in point, Chick-fil-A has always received rave reviews from fans who praise the chain for its unmatched consistency and steadfast commitment to quality. Those perfectly fried chicken sandwiches, that deliciously tart lemonade, and of course, those mouthwatering waffle fries. But in 2024, the beloved Atlanta-based chicken chain decided to add pea starch to its iconic waffle fry recipe, and the backlash from fans was immediate. For years, customers have begged the brand to return the fries to their original recipe sans pea protein, and it looks like the fans are finally getting their way.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Chick-fil-A quietly updated its website with a new FAQ page that answers the question "Does your waffle fry recipe contain pea starch?" with a very succinct "No." Cue the confetti! The chain also updated the ingredient list to reflect the change as well. Although the news was confirmed on the hush, fans on Reddit were quick to weigh in on the update, with several saying, "I noticed they taste so much better again!" A few people noted not being able to tell much difference between the two, but the apprehension to pea starch goes well beyond flavor for some fans.

Fans React to the Quiet Reversal with Fanfare

"I hope so. My wife is deathly allergic to peas," commented one person. Because peas are considered legumes, they can cause a severe allergic reaction in people who may also be allergic to peanuts. That means that until now, customers either had to risk it or settle for choosing a different side altogether. Although the reversal doesn't necessarily mean you're in the clear if you have a severe allergy, it significantly reduces the risk of a potential allergic reaction. And it doesn't hurt if the fries taste better in the long run.

While Chick-fil-A does fry its breaded chicken in 100 percent refined peanut oil, it uses canola oil to cook its waffle fries and hash browns, which makes it easier for fans with allergies to trust those items. Not to mention, there was never anything wrong with the waffle fries to begin with. We'll take this one as a win for the fans (and the space-time continuum).

40 Years Ago Today, Metallica Released the Album That Defined Metal. Then Tragedy Struck.

Tue, 03/03/2026 - 7:25am

On March 3, 1986, Metallica released Master of Puppets. It was their third studio album, recorded with producer Flemming Rasmussen at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen. Forty years later, the record still commands the kind of reverence that very few albums in any genre ever earn.

At the time, Metallica was a band on an impressive trajectory. They had signed to Elektra Records, toured as openers for Ozzy Osbourne, and James Hetfield and bandmates arrived in the studio with an ambition that Rasmussen later described to Rolling Stone as wanting to essentially redo Ride the Lightning, only better in every conceivable way. Lars Ulrich took drum lessons before recording. Kirk Hammett returned to his old guitar teacher, Joe Satriani. They were not coasting.

What came out of those sessions was eight tracks, average length approaching seven minutes, that somehow balanced machine-gun thrash ('Battery,' 'Disposable Heroes') against sprawling epics (the title track, 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)') and a fully cinematic instrumental in 'Orion.' The album peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard 200without a traditional promotional single or music video. Metallica simply went on tour and let the music speak.

The record has since been certified 8x Platinum by the RIAA and surpassed 10 million copies sold worldwide. In 2015, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Recording Registry, the first metal recording ever to receive that designation, deemed 'culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.' That is not a small thing. That is an institution built around preserving American history deciding that a thrash metal record belongs as a permanently documented part of it.

The tragedy that falls across all of it is Cliff Burton. The band's bassist, whose approach essentially redefined bass guitar in hard rock, co-wrote three of the album's tracks and influenced the classical undertones woven throughout. On September 27, 1986, while the band toured Europe in support of the album, the tour bus skidded off a highway in Sweden and flipped. Burton was thrown from his bunk through a window. The bus came down on top of him. He was 24 years old. Master of Puppets would be his final recording.

The album's reach has only grown in the decades since. In July 2022, a scene in Stranger Things Season 4, in which fictional metalhead Eddie Munson shreds through the title track while in the Upside Down, sent the song onto the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in its 36-year existence. A whole generation that hadn't been born when the album released found themselves hunting down the record.

And that's the measure of it. A 40-year-old thrash metal album from four kids out of the Bay Area can still stop a person today and make them need to hear more.
