Paris Hilton Shares How ADHD Helped Shape Her Success — and Her Take on the Y2K Revival (Exclusive)
After establishing her It-Girl status in the early 2000s, Paris Hilton has proven time and time again that she can do anything she sets her mind to. Throughout the years, she's charmed audiences with her beloved reality television shows, written several books, founded the global content company 11:11 Media, recorded hit albums, and is an award-winning DJ. Hilton, a mother of two, has also used her platform to advocate for survivors of the "Troubled Teen Industry," sharing her powerful testimony before Congress.
In an exclusive interview with Parade, Hilton attributed having ADHD as one of the reasons she's been able to successfully take on so many projects.
While speaking to Parade, Hilton discussed partnering with Collegium Pharmaceutical to launch JORNAY PM's "Embrace Your Sparkle" campaign, which spotlights attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Hilton also teased her upcoming projects, the proudest moment in her career, and something fans might be surprised to find out about her. In addition, she revealed her favorite moments from her time on reality TV and what she really thinks about the Y2K revival trend.

(Photo by: Charles Sykes/Bravo via Getty Images)In her interview with Parade magazine, Hilton shared that she hopes her new "Embrace Your Sparkle" campaign will be a source of inspiration for others who have ADHD. According to Collegium Pharmaceutical, "ADHD affects approximately 15.5 million adults and 6.5 million children in the U.S."
"I am really excited about this 'Embrace Your Sparkle' campaign, because I want to inspire and empower others with ADHD to embrace their sparkle," said Hilton to Parade.
Hilton, who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, shared that she "felt so alone and misunderstood" as a child. She explained that while she was "growing up nobody was talking about [ADHD], especially, for young girls and women, because there was just not any data or studies done on them." Hilton said this is why she wants to be a beacon for others with ADHD.
"It's very healing to me now, like, healing to my inner child to be able to do that for others. Let them know that they're not alone and inspire them and give them hope that they can follow their dreams and anything is possible," said Hilton. "And just releasing the stigma behind it, because, you know, people don't understand just all the strengths there is that come with ADHD."
Hilton also said, "It's been amazing just connecting with this ADHD community."
"There's millions of people all around the world who have it as well. And some of the most brilliant and creative minds in the world. So, I think that's incredible when, you know, young kids growing up with it, can see others and feel like they have that representation out there," continued Hilton.
She also told Parade that it was "life-changing" when she got her ADHD diagnosis. She explained that "so much in [her] life makes sense now."
"It's like looking back and just seeing everything that I went through, and now as an adult and knowing about it, it's so healing for me in so many ways," said Hilton to Parade. "My ADHD is something, like, I wouldn't be the entrepreneur I am today without it, where I almost see into the future. I take risks and do things first. I'm always thinking outside of the box. I always have a million ideas going through my mind all the time. And it also gives me really, just, deep empathy for others and feeling emotions very deeply."
In addition, she says ADHD gave her a "fun, silly side," which was showcased on her 2000s reality television series, The Simple Life, which also starred Nicole Richie. According to Hilton, fans of The Simple Life will often comment on social media, "that show is so ADHD-coded."
"I just think that's really funny because it was just like my really fun, playful side," said Hilton.
Hilton also said that she has been taking Collegium Pharmaceutical's central nervous system (CNS) stimulant prescription medicine, JORNAY PM, as her ADHD medication after speaking to her doctor.
"I love that it's a medication that you take at night. And then when you wake up in the morning, I'm just ready to take on the day. I have so much more focus and really put my attention on things that I'm really passionate about," said Hilton to Parade.

(Photo by Monica Schipper/WireImage/Getty Images)Hilton told Parade that her favorite moment from her career as a reality television personality was the entire five-season run of The Simple Life, which followed her and Richie humorously taking on different tasks, varying from working at a Sonic Drive-In to helping out at a dairy farm.
"It was so much fun. It's my favorite reality show. I still watch it all the time," said Hilton.
Hilton noted that not only is the series entertaining, but it changed the landscape of reality television.
"It's like inspired millions of people around the world and really created its own genre of television. I think it's just fantastic," said Hilton, who also starred in Paris in Love, Paris Hilton's My New BFF, and Cooking with Paris.
She shared that her children, London, 2, and Phoenix, 3, whom she shares with her husband, Carter Reum, have occasionally tuned into TheSimple Life, which ended in 2007.
"I love watching it now with my daughter and my son, London and Phoenix. And they like laugh and just like love it as well," said Hilton.
Hilton also has a fondness for the three-episode 2024 reunion series, Paris & Nicole: The Encore.
"I really loved the reunion show that Nicole and I did for Peacock. Pulling together and creating the Sanasa Opera which was so hilarious and just spending so much time with her again. It was so much fun. She's the best," said Hilton.
Despite being comfortable on camera and in front of crowds, Hilton shared that she is "actually very shy." She said that some fans might find it surprising that she's "kind of an introvert in many ways."
"I'm such a homebody. I think people are so used to seeing me like on the red carpet or just like at events. And that's a part of my life. But I would much rather be at home with my babies and my puppies chilling and cooking," said Hilton.
Paris Hilton Shared Her Thoughts About Y2K Fashion Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton in 2004 (Photo by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)Throughout the early 2000s, Hilton became the fashion trendsetter with her pink velour tracksuits, denim miniskirts, and rhinestones. Hilton told Parade that she still has a deep appreciation for Y2K trends.
"I love everything about Y2K fashion because I invented it. I think it was just the most fun time in fashion. It was just so extra. I am obsessed with rhinestones and sparkles and velour tracksuits. And just having fun with fashion. I think that it was such a special era," said Hilton to Parade.
She also shared that she's happy about the revival of Y2K fashion trends. In addition, she believes her unique fashion choices from the early 2000s "lead back to [her] ADHD."
"I think it was just so creative and just, again, like wearing things first before anyone was," said Hilton to Parade. "It just makes me really proud just to see so many people inspired by those looks and wearing them now. And seeing so many of those looks on the runway now."
Paris Hilton Revealed She's Most Proud of Her Advocacy Work Paris Hilton in Washington, DC. (Photo by Samuel Corum/Getty Images)While speaking to Parade, Hilton shared how she's managed to juggle being an entrepreneur, designer, pop star, DJ, advocate, author, and a mother. She said that "every day is different," requiring a different set of skills.
"One day, I could be in DC and speaking with different senators and passing legislation and bills to protect children. Or I'm at home here, I have 11:11 Media in my office that I built out at my house. My team and I just go over just different approvals for all my product lines or what events I have coming up," said Hilton.
Hilton also let fans know that she's been in the studio for her third album and is rehearsing for her upcoming tour. In addition, she's been working on her skincare line, Parívie, and "just shot the campaign for [her] 32nd perfume," which "will be out soon this year."
With so many accomplishments under her belt, Hilton shared that her proudest moment has been "turning [her] pain into a purpose," referring to her experience with youth facilities.
"The fact that I now passed two federal bills [including the Stop Institutional Child Abuse Act] and almost 20 state laws to protect children and be the hero that I needed when I was a little girl, has been something that I'm just so incredibly proud of and it's been truly the most meaningful work of my life," said Hilton.
How to Watch 'Outlander' for Free
After what has felt like centuries (appropriately so), Outlander's eighth and final season has arrived. Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) have survived basically everything under the sun in pursuit of their time-traveling love. Given what's at stake for Diana Gabaldon's hit franchise, you'll want to make sure you don't miss a second of what Season 8 has to offer. And the good news is, you may be able to do so without breaking the bank!
Here's how you can watch Outlander for free.
Season 8 of Outlander will only be available with a STARZ subscription. However, if you subscribe to the channel through other streaming services, you may be able to find a window. Prime Video, the Roku Channel, and Hulu all offer a 7-day free trial of STARZ. So, if you want to watch Outlander for free, you can wait until the season is over (or at least a week until the series finale), get a free trial, and binge to your heart's content before you'd have to pay a dime!
Pro-tip: Don’t forget to cancel your subscription before the free trial ends. Nothing more annoying than an auto-renew.
Additionally, if you're looking to simply get a taste of Outlander without subscribing to anything, the Roku Channel, Philo TV and Sling TV all currently have the first episode of the series for free. After that, however, is going to cost you, whether it's buying the episodes themselves, or subscribing to a streaming service that has them.
Yes, but not all of it! Netflix’s deal for the show is with Sony Pictures Television, which can only license to Netflix in the United States after an exclusivity period with STARZ. Specifically, at least two years need to pass following the finale of a season for it to become available on Netflix.
Currently, six and a half seasons of Outlander are on Netflix. The second half of Season 7 would be set to drop two years after the finale, or Jan. 17, 2027. As for Season 8, it's going to be quite a bit before the streamer gets their hands on that, as we'll have to wait all the way until May 8, 2028.

Fans Are 'Obsessed' With This Fiery New Kombucha Flavor That Taps Into a Growing Food Trend: 'I Can't Wait'

It's no secret that yours truly prefers everything with a little extra spice. I've developed my own seasoning blend to add some extra heat to my hot wings, my preferred breakfast sandwich always includes hot sauce, and although I've never tried sriracha on my ice cream, I probably wouldn't turn it down. Honestly, there aren't too many places where an extra dash of heat isn't appreciated. Although we've all got different tolerances, sometimes all a dish needs to wake it up is a sprinkle of crushed red pepper or a generous dusting of cayenne. It bridges the gap between cloying sweetness and blandness.
Whether you're livening up your avocado toast with a drizzle of chili crisp or adding an extra kick to your favorite beverage, there are limitless ways to spice things up. But if you're prone to being heavy-handed with the heat like I am, you might want to leave the concocting to the professionals who know a thing or two about balance. Fortunately, Health-Ade Kombucha understands the harmonious juxtaposition of sweet and heat, and the brand's newest swicy offering has us racing to stores to find it.

The newest limited-edition flavor to join Health-Ade's lineup of flavor-forward kombuchas is Strawberry Mango Chili. Pardon me for drooling. This summer-ready flavor features a vibrant blend of juicy strawberry and sun-ripened mango with a playful dash of chili to liven everything up. It's practically made to be sipped poolside. Each blend is crafted with real organic fruit juice, living probiotics, and gut-supporting organic acids, making it a functional sip as well as a flavorful one.

Not only is this trendy new offering perfect on its own, but you could also turn it into a vibrant mocktail or immune-boosting gummies for whenever you need an extra kick to get through the day. You can find bottles of the limited-time flavor exclusively at Sprouts locations nationwide or order directly through Health-Ade's website. That being said, you might want to hurry and snag a few bottles because, judging by the response from fans, Health-Ade might want to consider making this flavor permanent.
View this post on Instagram"Immediately yes," quipped one fan. Can I have 1000?" inquired someone else. Beyond that were several fans who could say nothing more than, "Omg omg omggggg." Naturally, this writer emphatically agrees. To put it even more plainly, this is one flavor that I wouldn't mind having a vending machine full of in my home. You know, just putting that out there. If this is any indicator of what to expect from Health-Ade in the future, then we can't wait to see what's next.

Will Ozzfest Carry On? Sharon Osbourne Addresses its Future After Nearly 10-Year Hiatus
Who remembers Ozzfest? It's been almost a decade since the late, great Ozzy Osbourne's event was held — but co-founder Sharon Osbourne is here to say that it may not be gone forever.
The widow and TV personality, 73, recently hinted once again that she's still planning to revive Ozzfest as a touring festival next year.
“Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it,” Osbourne said during a conversation at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France this week as part of the MIDEM 2026 conference.
Sharon added, "The last one we did was 2018. It was just a month before Ozzy got sick, and that was at the Forum in L.A. And there was no plans to stop it. We were still gonna do it, but Ozzy couldn’t. And Ozzy and I would talk about it, and he’d say, 'Do you think Ozzfest would work without me?’ And I’m, like, ‘Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you.’ And he said, 'We should do it.'"
Check out Sharon's recent chat about Ozzfest's future in the YouTube clip below.
Added to that, Sharon had told Billboard last month that she’s been “talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently. It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country. It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”
Ozzy died last July 22 at age 76. His health caused a number of postponements and cancellations in the later years of his career, with his last full concert occurring in 2018. In early 2023, he took to social media to share “one of the hardest things [he ’s] ever had to share with [his] loyal fans,” announcing that he was canceling his planned international tour as his body was too “physically weak” to “deal with the travel required.”
1988 Hit Voted ‘Best Comedy Movie’ of All Time
Comedy movies are one of the foundational pillars of cinema, and that's just a fact. Since the beginning of Hollywood, filmmakers dating back to Charlie Chaplin have mastered comedic storytelling in various ways, and because of that we have been lucky to have seen hundreds of on-screen comedies that have entertained us for decades upon decades.
To celebrate the impact that comedic movies have had on cinema and on culture as a whole, the entertainment outlet Variety published a list of the 100 best comedy movies of all time, pulling films that range from old classics to modern masterpieces and highlighting what makes them quintessential comedic watches.
Beating out iconic titles such as Trouble in Paradise (1932), Bridesmaids (2011) and Pink Flamingos (1972), the No. 1 best comedy movie of all time, according to Variety, is the 1988 hit The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! directed by David Zucker.
Starring Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley, the film follows the clueless but confident Lieutenant Frank Drebin, a detective with a talent for turning simple situations into chaotic disasters. When Drebin uncovers a plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Los Angeles, he must stop the scheme while navigating absurd misunderstandings, deadpan one-liners and over-the-top physical comedy. The film opened to major success, landing in the No. 1 spot at the box office during its opening weekend.
"The glory of The Naked Gun is that it’s a shamelessly uninhibited, anarchically observational drive-by comedy that will make fun of anything: global autocrats, stodgy film noir dialogue, safe sex, a professional baseball game, food left in the refrigerator for too long," Variety writes.
Following its release in 1988, the film saw two more additions to its franchise with The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994). A spinoff film called The Naked Gun was released in 2025 and stars Liam Neeson as Lieutenant Frank Drebin Jr., the son of the legendary detective from the original trilogy.
The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! is available to stream on Paramount+.

Flyers Are Baffled by 'Cheek-Splitting' Seat That Looks Anything But Comfy
Air travel is full of quirks: tiny bathrooms, unpredictable gate changes, seats that recline barely an inch. Yet once in a while one particular oddity captures the collective imagination of travelers everywhere. That moment happened recently when a photo of a peculiar airplane seat on a Japan Airlines Boeing 737‑800 appeared on Reddit, instantly earning nicknames like "the Cheek Splitter 9000" and sparking widespread confusion, laughter, and curiosity.
Some travelers saw it and wondered whether airlines had begun experimenting with unusual seating. Others assumed it was a factory mistake or an exaggerated design choice. What makes this story fascinating is how a simple seat cushion became a topic of global curiosity, revealing how deeply travelers now pay attention to every detail of their flying experience.
I've been on a lot of planes around the world but this was a first.

What the Internet Really ThoughtThe most common responses were playful or humorous. Users leapt on nicknames that highlighted how ridiculous the seat looked, describing it as “hostile architecture,” something designed to discourage use rather than provide comfort. Others compared it to uncomfortable furniture or joked that it was the next frontier in airline minimalism.
One comment with many upvotes simply noted that it might be the most intentionally uncomfortable seat ever photographed, clearly mocking the seat’s design. Another popular comment suggested that the seat was a form of passive signage: if airlines wanted to be sure no one sat there, this was an obvious way to make it uncomfortable to the eye and body.
Beneath the humor, many Redditors offered grounded, logical explanations. Multiple commenters pointed out that in their experience, airlines sometimes modify unwanted or unused seats instead of removing them. This consensus suggested that what we see is less a functional seat and more a marker of non‑use, a replacement cushion or covering that makes it visually clear that the seat is unavailable.
One commenter with aviation experience said that every airline has unique ways of signaling that a seat is out of service. For some it is tape, for others a tag, and for some a custom cushion like this one. Another person emphasized that leaving the seat outfitted this way maintains the official seat count and aircraft paperwork without violating safety requirements.
The Real Reason the Seat Looks So BizarreSo what is this seat really for? The answer is surprisingly practical and tied not to comfort but to aviation safety, aircraft configuration, and regulatory compliance.
This seat sits in row 15 on the Boeing 737‑800 operated by Japan Airlines. That row is often a transition zone in aircraft cabins. As airline and aviation experts explain, certain rows on aircraft are governed by strict safety requirements. Seats near emergency exits, in front of bulkheads, or at specific structural points must meet precise design criteria to ensure proper passenger restraint and safety in turbulence or emergency landings.
What this means in layman's terms is:
- If a particular seat does not meet these safety specifications, it cannot be certified for passenger use on that flight.
- Removing the seat entirely can create gaps in the cabin layout, complicate aircraft paperwork, and affect how flight attendants walk, where service carts go, and how passengers behind it are seated.
- Airlines prefer to maintain consistent cabin layouts so they do not have to reconfigure safety documentation, seating charts, and flight manifests.

Instead of removing the seat physically, the airline simply marks it as unusable with a modified cushion that makes it visually and physically unattractive or awkward for passengers to choose. That makes the aircraft compliant with safe seating requirements, avoids difficult mid‑flight situations, and keeps cabin weight and balance consistent.
In short, the seat was not designed for comfort, nor was it ever intended for regular use. It was a smart but funny way to design around a safety and certification challenge without leaving an empty hole in the cabin.

A Deeper Look at Flying TodayFlights today pack more passengers into cabins than ever before. Airlines balance comfort with economics and strict safety standards. The result is a world where seats can look odd, overhead bins dominate visual attention, and passengers find themselves laughing at design oddities as much as daydreaming about open beaches and concrete jungles they are flying to.
The Cheek Splitter moment is more than just a funny image on Reddit. It reminds travelers that flying involves complex design choices you rarely see from the outside. From regulatory compliance to interior modifications and unconventional seat markings, the story of this seat tells us something about the broader state of commercial aviation.
1978 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 47 years ago
Forty-seven years ago, the Bee Gees topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their classic Grammy Award-winning hit "Stayin' Alive."
Released on December 13, 1977, the track was featured on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack album as the second single. Immediately upon release, the song garnered significant mainstream attention, climbing to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart by early February. "Stayin' Alive" dominated the charts for four consecutive weeks, selling over 40 million copies worldwide and becoming one of the biggest selling songs of the disco era.
The track was produced by the Bee Gees, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson via RSO Records. Recognizable for its driving rhythm, the song is praised for its upbeat nature and polished disco production.
Aside from its groovy feel, the song is widely known for its 103 beats per minute (BPM) tempo, which is the rhythm recommended for CPR training. Barry Gibb’s high pitched, soul-inspired falsetto instantly engages listeners with an ear worm chorus, making it no surprise that the song achieved such massive global popularity.

Written for the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever, the song emphasizes the grit of working-class America. The lyrics tell the story of a young man struggling to find a sense of purpose in an unforgiving urban environment, reflecting the film's plot, which follows a young dance king navigating life in Brooklyn.
The themes of perseverance and survival that "Stayin' Alive" highlights continue to resonate with modern day audiences. The streaming era has brought together new and old listeners to appreciate the Bee Gees' classic. On Spotify alone, the track has garnered over 1.6 billion streams, attesting to the song's enduring popularity.
'POV: You Told Tyra You Almost Died in a Doctor's Office': Jonathan Van Ness Pokes Fun at 'America's Next Top Model' Challenge
Jonathan Van Ness—the effervescent hairstylist and Queer Eye star—joined a viral trend poking fun at one of television's most iconic (and controversial) reality shows, America's Next Top Model. After the release of Netflix's docuseries Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model, social media users have been riffing on one of the show's signature tropes: turning contestants' personal drama into bizarre-themed photo shoots.
The trend has been circulating across TikTok and Instagram. Users caption comedic photoshoot videos with something like "POV: You told Tyra X, and this is your next shoot." People have layered it with everything from peanut butter-smeared faces to standing awkwardly in trendy outfits with props that don't make a whole lot of sense—all meant to mimic the random, sometimes insensitive direction contestants were infamously given on America's Next Top Model.
Van Ness joined with, "POV: You told Tyra you almost died in a doctor's office," and it fits perfectly into the narrative. He's modeling in a doctor's office with ridiculously dramatic poses. It's the sort of darkly humorous hyperbole the internet loves: Imagining America's Next Top Model legendary creator Tyra Banks spinning a contestant's medical scare into a stylized photo concept.
View this post on Instagram"Smize!" one fan commented. "Unresolved trauma, but make it fashion."
Others added that Van Ness was giving "the fashion [they] needed," while "cackling" at him jumping in on the trend.
This trend, while silly on the surface, also intersects with bigger conversations about how the original show handled participants' stories. The Reality Check docuseries highlighted how producers sometimes emphasized personal struggles for dramatic effect, including making contestants do dental work or portray traumatic scenarios for the camera.
So when stars like Van Ness join in, it's less about mockery and more about communal catharsis. Everyone is looking back at classic reality-TV absurdity, turning it into a moment of shared humor, and, of course, unforgettable captions.
Christina Applegate Just Admitted to Dumping Brad Pitt for This Bad-Boy Rocker
Christina Applegate’s new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, is full of sobering revelations.
For instance, not only did the now-54-year-old actress almost turn down the role that made her a star, Kelly Bundy on Married With Children, but she reveals that her mother, Nancy Priddy, suggested she get liposuction on her thighs as a teenager, leading to body image issues throughout her time on-screen, and that she waited until 8/8/88 to have sex for the first time.
View this post on InstagramAnother tell-all bit that’s causing a stir online is the fact that Applegate dumped Brad Pitt at the 1989 MTV Movies Awards for Sebastian Bach, the lead singer of ’80s metal band Skid Row. Of course, at the time, Pitt hadn’t yet become the Hollywood power player he is today, but still … that hair, those cheekbones, that jawline. We digress.
Setting the scene, per Page Six, Applegate, writes, “I had spent all night staring at Bach, who was then a long-haired hunk fronting the band Skid Row.” Applegate, who was 17 at the time, continues, “I hate to put it like this, but Brad back then was still making his way as an actor, and he wasn’t yet THE Brad Pitt, the man of so many people’s dreams."
She continues, “And it gets worse: Brad was left to sullenly drive my mom … home. Apparently, at a gas station on the way, Brad almost got into a fight with a bunch of gang members, and, not surprisingly, was subsequently very mad at me.”
She shares that she immediately regretted her decision, as Bach had a longtime partner and 1-year-old at home. Pitt, on the other hand, “didn’t talk” to her “for many years.”
“Eventually, we agreed that I’d been a kid, and though he deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row,” she writes. “Of course, Brad is now THE Brad Pitt, and Sebastian Bach … well, he still has long hair, I guess.”
In June 2021, Applegate, then 49, revealed she’d been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, or MS, a chronic autoimmune disease. Since then, she has been open about her journey and details the “excruciating agony” in her book.
“I wish I could say that I am a miracle,” she writes, per the New York Post. “Though most days it’s very hard to believe, and in any case, I don’t want to minimize what this disease does to a human body and soul. The pain I felt initially was not like it is these days. Back then, it was more of an I‐have‐no‐strength kind of pain, rather than the often excruciating agony I’m in now.”
The actor’s last onscreen role was in Dead to Me, released in November 2022 on Netflix. In 2024, she presented at the Emmy Awards, and last month she paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live. Promoting her memoir, Applegate sat down this week with Good Morning America’s Robyn Roberts, sharing that she has not yet accepted her MS diagnosis.
View this post on Instagram“Where am I at with acceptance? Not at all. I hate it. But, I wake up every day and go, ‘I’m Sadie’s momma,’” she said.

This Popular Drink Isn’t as Good for Your Gut Health as You Might Think
You’ve likely heard the age-old saying, “You are what you eat”—and it’s true. Everything you consume plays a role in fueling your body and impacting your physical and mental well-being. If your goal is boosting gut health, it’s common to turn to a nutrient-dense diet that emphasizes lean proteins, fruits and vegetables, while avoiding foods that are highly processed and packed with sugar.
What’s often overlooked in the gut health conversation is how closely your digestive system is tied to your daily habits beyond food alone. Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria that help break down food, support immune function and even influence mood and cognition. These bacteria are highly sensitive to what you consume—and that includes liquids, not just meals. While water is essential for digestion and helps keep things moving through the gastrointestinal tract, other drinks can disrupt the balance of beneficial bacteria, irritate the gut lining or contribute to inflammation over time.
Many popular beverages are marketed as “healthy” or “natural,” which can make it harder to recognize their potential downsides. Some contain added sugars, artificial sweeteners, emulsifiers or high levels of caffeine, all of which may affect digestion differently depending on the person. For individuals with sensitive stomachs, irritable bowel syndrome or existing gut issues, these ingredients can contribute to bloating, discomfort or changes in bowel habits. Even for people without diagnosed conditions, frequent consumption can influence the gut microbiome in ways that aren’t immediately noticeable.
But it’s just as important to be mindful of what you drink. In fact, certain beverages can wreak havoc on your gut, which is why we learned of one popular drink that’s not as good for you as you might think. Read on to find out what it is, and where the caveats come in.

The Popular Drink That’s Not Always Great for Gut HealthIt's kombucha, a fermented, antioxidant-rich tea. Because it’s concocted through a fermentation process that creates live microorganisms and organic acids, it’s considered by many to be beneficial for the digestive system, explains Dr. Kezia Joy, RDN, a registered dietitian nutritionist and medical advisor at Welzo.
Here’s how the fermentation process works: “During fermentation, bacteria and yeast convert sugar into organic acids, which gives kombucha its tangy taste and creates the perception that it is rich in beneficial microbes,” explains Dr. Rockford Yapp, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist with GI Partners of Illinois.
Kombucha’s rise in the wellness space has helped further pave its way as a “superdrink”—but many of its touted “benefits” are just potential, according to research.
Related: ‘I’m a Registered Dietitian—This is What I Do Every Day For My Gut Health’
Here's where the major caveat comes in: Some kombucha contains living bacteria and yeast; however, the type and amount of both can vary greatly based on how the kombucha was prepared, stored and whether or not it was pasteurized. Most commercial kombuchas don’t divulge to consumers the specific strains of yeast or bacteria, along with the number of colonies in each serving, that are present in the product you’re buying.
“Many products are heat-treated to extend shelf life, which significantly reduces live bacteria. Even when live microbes are present, they often have not been studied to show they survive stomach acid or provide measurable digestive benefits,” Dr. Yapp explains. “Compared to clinically studied probiotic strains found in certain foods or supplements, kombucha’s probiotic impact is unpredictable. The variabilities in production, the lack of clinical studies, and uncertain additives all contribute to the uncertainty of benefits.”
For many kombucha drinkers, the probiotic benefits are likely small and shouldn’t be considered as a main source of probiotics to enhance gut health. It’s best to think of kombucha as a fermented drink that offers potential health benefits rather than a surefire way to boost gut health.

How Kombucha Compares To Other Fermented ProductsSimply put, kombucha falls short when compared to other fermented foods.
“Yogurt and kefir, [for example,] are typically more reliable sources of probiotics due to being fermented using specific strains and controlled conditions. Additionally, kefir tends to provide a larger range of beneficial microorganisms,” Dr. Joy explains.
Fermented vegetables like sauerkraut and kimchi deliver probiotics and fiber, a crucial nutrient that supports your current gut bacteria. When stacked against these options, kombucha offers less probiotic potential and typically contains zero grams of fiber. Dr. Joy says it’s more of a “lighter complement” to other gut-friendly products.

How Added Sugar in Kombucha Affects the GutMany bottled kombuchas, unfortunately, contain an excessive amount of added sugar to help support the fermentation process. This can wreak havoc on the gut, causing bloating and discomfort—especially in those who already have digestive issues.
“Sugar is a key concern. While some sugar is needed for fermentation, many commercial kombuchas contain added sugars that can work against gut-health goals. Excess sugar may feed less beneficial gut bacteria and contribute to bloating, inflammation, or blood sugar spikes,” Dr. Yapp tells Parade.
Tips for Enjoying KombuchaExperts agree that kombucha really isn’t as good for your gut health as you might think. That said, if you do decide to sip this beverage now and then, it’s important to do exactly that—drink it in moderation, and remember that portion control is crucial.
Jessica DeLuise, PA-C, CCMS, a physician assistant, certified culinary medicine specialist, and Mid-Atlantic Emmy award winner for Eat Your Way to Wellness, encourages you to start slow and increase gradually. (This goes for any probiotic beverage or supplement.)
She stresses, "Don't force yourself or consume something that doesn't make you feel good,” noting that the fizz element can cause GI discomfort.
It’s important to always be a mindful label reader. One of the main things to keep an eye out for? The sugar content.
Dr. Joy recommends, “When selecting a product … low sugar content should be the primary criterion … Ingesting high-sugar versions of kombucha regularly will most likely reduce the overall digestive health benefits associated with consuming kombucha.”
Those managing blood sugar issues, individuals with weakened immune systems, or anyone who is pregnant should approach kombucha with caution. Moderation and personalization are essential.
When in doubt, it’s always wise to consult a healthcare professional before adding too much of anything new to your diet. After all, gut health is important to your overall well-being, so it’s especially key to be mindful of everything you put into your body.

Beloved Snack Brand Pulls Brand-New Product From Shelves Amid Safety Concern
Popcorn lovers may want to take a closer look at their snack stash. A beloved snack brand is pulling a brand-new product from store shelves due to safety concerns, especially among those who can't eat dairy.
SkinnyPop is voluntarily pulling its new White Cheddar popcorn from store shelves after raising concerns about possible confusion for shoppers with milk allergies. The move comes shortly after the company introduced a new White Cheddar flavor made with real dairy.
Skinny Pop
SkinnyPop has long offered a dairy-free White Cheddar option, and the packaging between the two varieties looks very similar. That similarity sparked concern that shoppers could accidentally grab the wrong bag, especially those who rely on clear labeling to avoid allergens.
The decision to remove the new product was made out of caution. The dairy-containing version is considered safe to eat for people who do not have a milk allergy or sensitivity. However, for those who must strictly avoid dairy, any mix-up could pose a serious health risk.
Why the Popcorn Is Being RemovedAccording to the announcement, the issue really centers on packaging similarity between the original dairy-free White Cheddar popcorn and the newly launched dairy version. Because both products share comparable branding and design elements, there is a risk that consumers could mistake one for the other at the store or at home.
To prevent that confusion, parent company the Hershey Company began removing the new dairy-containing popcorn from shelves on March 2, 2026. The recall is voluntary and focused specifically on the newly introduced real-dairy White Cheddar variety.
Importantly, other SkinnyPop products are not affected. The original dairy-free White Cheddar popcorn remains available for purchase and is still labeled accordingly.

What Shoppers Should KnowIf you purchased the new White Cheddar popcorn made with real dairy and do not have a milk allergy, the product is considered safe to consume. The concern is specifically for individuals with milk allergies who could mistakenly believe they purchased the dairy-free option.
If you or someone in your household has a milk allergy, it is best to double-check any recently purchased White Cheddar SkinnyPop products and avoid consuming the dairy-containing version. Customers with questions can contact the company directly for more information.
Food safety recalls and voluntary removals like this one are designed to protect consumers and prevent potential harm before it happens. While it may be disappointing for fans excited to try the new flavor, the proactive move aims to keep snack time safe for everyone.
In the meantime, popcorn lovers can still enjoy the classic dairy-free White Cheddar flavor or explore the brand's other fan-favorite varieties without worry.

Reese Witherspoon's March 2026 Book Club Pick Will Keep You Guessing: 'You Think You Know the Villain'
Reese Witherspoon and the team behind Reese’s Book Club officially announced the March 2026 book club pick. The book is the novel Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser, which the book club describes as "a reimagining of Cinderella’s stepmother that explores motherhood, family, and the pressure to be perfect."
Witherspoon writes, "You think you know the villain… until you hear her side of the story."
Photo via Macmillan PublishersIn their social post, the book club team gathers to share their thoughts on the book and why they picked it. Reese says, "Loved the idea that it's a retelling of the Cinderella story. What we thought we knew, we don't know at all. Cinderella is not the hero."
Another book clubber, says the book, which Witherspoon compares the popular Wicked by author Gregory Maguire, is "Humanizing the villain."
So like Wicked reimagines a deeper, more empathetic backstory for Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, this new novel flips the script on Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's "evil" stepmother, whom we all grew up hating.
"The evil stepmother is actually the hero of the story," Reese says.
Check out the official announcement for the book club pick for March:
Did Lady Tremaine, more widely known as the wicked stepmother in the well-known Cinderella fairytale, get a bad rap? What happens when you walk a mile in this stepmom's shoes? Will it change how you feel about her after all?
In the retold Cinderella story, Lady Etheldreda Verity Isolde Tremaine Bramley (aka, the stepmother) is a single, twice-widowed mom raising two daughters (aka, the evil stepsisters) and one stepdaughter (aka Cinderella). Lady Tremaine is barely holding it together and feels the only way to bestow any kind of hopeful future for her daughters is via marriage. The upcoming royal ball where she can show out those daughters to the future king is her only hope! Unlike the old familiar story, what unfolds is a very different story of true motherly love.
About the author Rachel HochhauserRachel Hochhauser, a California native, attended New York University and received a master’s in professional writing from the University of Southern California. Lady Tremaine is Hochhauser's first novel. She lives in Portland, Oregon with husband and two daughters.
If you're a forever fan of Reese’s Book Club—or you're a stepmom, a single mom, or you love both—it's time to get reading.
Witherspoon says, "I think people are gonna love it" and recognizes the real-life heroes and the work that they do and love and caring they give, "Stepmothers everywhere, you're actually doing a really good job, especially if you're doing it by yourself!"
Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser releases today, March 3, 2026.
The Father of Hot Rods, Who Served in WW2, Dies at 104
A hot rod is an older car, typically the Ford models created before World War II, that was modified so that its speed, acceleration or style is changed. Ed Iskenderian, known as Isky and "the Camfather," became well known in the car community as "an affable, cigar-chomping hot-rod pioneer, innovative machinist and clever promoter," according to the New York Times.
Iskenderian built his first hot rod when he was a teenager, using an old Ford Model T, and raced with friends in the Mojave Desert, hitting speeds up to 120 miles per hour. In 1946, he eventually established Isky Camshafts in Culver City, where he specialized in "fast action" cams for Ford Flathead V8 engines. His business quickly grew, and his influence can be felt in the motorsport industry to this day.
View this post on InstagramIt was announced by Car and Driver on Feb. 4 that Iskenerian passed away in hospice care at 104 years old. He is survived by his children: Richard, Timothy and Amy, as well as eight grandchildren and his brother Ben.
Born on July 10, 1921, in Tulare County, California, Iskenerian was the son of Armenian immigrants and always had a love for cars, especially because California was known for car and hot rodding culture. His family eventually moved to Los Angeles, where his father opened a shoe repair shop. By elementary school, he began working with tools and by junior high, was starting to repair radios and taking auto shop classes in high school.
Years later, he served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. When he returned to his home state after the war, Iskenerian started building cars and reprofiling camshafts so that they were more powerful, had higher revs and better fuel management. Camshafts are a car engine's heartbeat, and consist of a rod and shaped lobes that synchronize the opening and closing of an engine's air intake and valves.
His cams started attracting attention from racers and he was able to get marketing possibilities and sponsorships from iconic racers of that day, such as Richard Petty, Don Garlits and Jim Clark.
Thanks to Iskenderian, he revolutionized the camshaft business and helped turn the automobile industry into a hobby. His impact is still seen in many of the country's biggest races, such as the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500.
"His influence can be felt in every form of motorsport today," Car and Driver wrote in their tribute. "Isky lived long enough to enjoy the changing landscape of the industry he helped pioneer."

HGTV's '100 Day Dream Home' Is Back, But Here's What Really Happens Behind the Scenes
After you've watched HGTV long enough, these shows start to feel less like watching TV and more like catching up with friends who happen to be outrageously talented. You settle in on the couch, snacks in hand, and suddenly you're hanging out with people who can knock down a wall, redesign a kitchen, and install custom cabinetry before you've even finished that bowl of popcorn. It's the same energy as that one crafty friend who casually assembles your IKEA bookshelf in 10 minutes flat while you stand there holding the Allen wrench in moral support.

Netflix Announces Celebrity ‘Squid Game’ With Dylan Efron, Mel B and More Stars
The VIPs are no longer watching from behind gilded masks. This time, they’re playing.
Netflix has officially announced Squid Game: The VIP Challenge, a celebrity edition of the hit competition spinoff that will drop eight well-known personalities into the franchise’s nightmare of childhood games turned dramatic strategy battles.
On the show, “eight VIPs will step into the high stakes game and put their wit, strategy and skillset to the ultimate test.”

His ex is none other than Khloe Kardashian, with whom he shares two children, True and Tatum.
Viper Glanton (Squid Game: The Challenge)Fans will remember Viper from season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge, where his bold “back of the line” strategy during the emotionally charged “Catch” game backfired in heartbreaking fashion. He told Parade at the time, “Honestly and truly, when we were all strategizing in my mind—I was like, I just cracked Da Vinci’s code.”
His elimination became one of the season’s most talked-about moments, and now he gets a second shot, this time among celebrities.
What Is ‘Squid Game: The VIP Challenge’?While Netflix has not yet revealed the specific games or prize structure, the format suggests this will mirror Squid Game: The Challenge, which crowned its most recent winner after weeks of social maneuvering, brutal eliminations and insane twists.
The original spinoff began with 456 contestants competing for $4.56 million, delivering some of the most tense reality competition television of the year.
But now, the VIP lounge is empty. The famous faces won’t just be observing the chaos. They’ll be inside it.
