We're extremely lucky to be getting brand new music from one of the greatest to ever do it, Neil Young, who just announced his second album with backing band the Chrome Hearts, entitled "Second Song."

Any release from Young should be treated as a massive event in music. I'm certainly biased, as Young is a top 3 artist for me, but I think he is one of the most singular musicians to ever exist. Between his guitar playing ability, which landed him the 30th spot on Rolling Stone's "250 Greatest Guitarists" list, his incredibly earnest songwriting, or his commitment to being completely authentic in his music, he is somebody who captures styles and ideas both new and old for a timeless style that I find a lot of personal solace and enjoyment in.

To tease the upcoming album, which is set to release September 18th, he released a single, featuring the same name as the album.

I really love this new single. It's an extremely reflective piece that feels stylistically in line with his material from "Harvest Moon," which is one of my absolute favorite records from him. the gentle melancholy of that record has always been close to my heart, and this song really captures that spirit. I'm also struck by how good Young's voice still sounds. There's not a lot of noticeable age to it despite over 60 years of performing.

If this track is any indication of what the new album is going to sound like, I am extremely excited. I love when artists get reflective, and the somber, beautiful tone of this song fits with the lyrical themes so nicely. Everyone should go give this new track a listen. It really showcases that Young has still got it all these years later, and is still creating deeply personal music.

Martha Stewart's account of what Meghan Markle said during a recent dinner party is reportedly being disputed.

According to People, Stewart told the outlet in a new cover story that she and Meghan Markle were both guests at a California dinner party shortly after Meghan returned from a trip to Europe, where she, Prince Harry, and their children reunited with King Charles. Stewart said she didn't speak with Meghan much beyond a few words, but claimed she knew Meghan was talking about the reunion at the event.

But according to the outlet, a source who hosted that dinner party disputes her recollection entirely, saying that Stewart's version of events is "simply untrue," and adding that Meghan only mentioned the family "had a great time" in Europe and didn't elaborate further. The source, who says they sat next to Meghan that night, also noted that Meghan has long admired Stewart and enjoyed getting to briefly meet her at the dinner.

The royal trip itself made headlines on its own. On July 10, King Charles saw his California-based grandchildren, 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet, in person for the first time since 2022, with the family reuniting at Highgrove House alongside Queen Camilla rather than at a palace, per the outlet.

Stewart's People interview didn't stop at the dinner party. She also weighed in on Meghan's now-cancelled Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. “If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show," she said. "It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”

That diss follows another: Back in 2025, Stewart made comments about Meghan in a Yahoo News Australia interview last year, where she said she didn't know Meghan well and hoped she "knows what she's talking about" when it comes to authenticity in her lifestyle brand.

The two women aren't strangers to each other's orbit. Per People, Stewart met with King Charles herself in April, when both attended the King's Trust Global Gala in New York City.

Once in a while a great rock song is destined to outlive the era in which it was created.

That has certainly been the case with "Under My Thumb," the classic Rolling Stones song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. First released in 1966 on the landmark album Aftermath, the swaggering rock track became even more iconic decades later when it was embraced by Tina Turner, the artist widely celebrated as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll."

The song arrived during one of the Stones' most creative periods.

Built around Brian Jones' distinctive marimba performance, driving rhythm section, and Jagger's commanding vocal, "Under My Thumb" showcased the band's willingness to experiment beyond traditional blues rock.

"It's got Brian playing these marimbas," Jagger told Rolling Stone in 1995. "That riff played on marimbas really makes it. Plus, the groove it gets in the end of the tune. It speeds up, actually. And it becomes this kind of groove tune at the end. It was never a single, but it was always a very well-known album track."

Although it wasn't issued as a standalone single in Britain or the United States, it quickly became one of the standout tracks on Aftermath and a staple of the band's live shows.

Its influence extended well beyond the Rolling Stones.

Over the years, "Under My Thumb" has been recorded by numerous artists, but few interpretations carried as much power as Tina Turner's. She recorded the song for her 1989 album Foreign Affair, transforming the mid-1960s rock classic with her unmistakable voice and commanding stage presence.

Turner's version offered a fresh perspective.

Rather than simply recreating the original arrangement, she infused the song with the energy and confidence that defined her solo career. Her performance became a fan favorite in concert, demonstrating how a song first made famous by one of rock's greatest bands could be completely reimagined by one of its greatest performers.

The enduring popularity of both versions speaks to the song's lasting appeal.

While The Rolling Stones continue to perform "Under My Thumb" as one of their signature deep cuts, Turner's rendition introduced it to a new generation of listeners and reinforced her reputation as one of rock's most dynamic interpreters of classic material.

On Thursday, August 6, the 13-year-old released the music video for her song "Aishite" pulled from her EP N0rth4evr, which came out in May.

A 13 year old, it's sad and disturbing,” the viewer wrote.

Other commenters drew parallels to their own teenage years, noting that angst and intense emotions can be a normal part of growing up. They also applauded North for expressing herself openly through her music. “Honestly when I was her age I was also angsty and I’m sure there’s a lot of confusing emotions about her life and experiences at an early age. I hope she is able to express and come to terms with who she wants to be,” another comment read.

A Big Moment Despite a Canceled Tour

The new video arrives after North's planned 14-date Kimokawaii Tour with fellow rapper Molly Santana was called off last month, just days before it was set to begin. North broke the news to fans directly, promising "something special" down the road, while Santana shared her own heartfelt apology to ticket holders, thanking fans for their patience and support, per NBC News. Even with the tour on pause, North's music career has kept moving, including a first festival performance alongside Santana at Rolling Loud Miami back in May.

As Heated Rivalry begins production on its second season, the hockey romance series has found its Troy Barrett and Harris Drover.

Played by Charlie Gillespie and Justice Smith, Troy and Harris’ story is found in Rachel Reid’s novel Role Model. When Troy is traded to Ilya Rozanov’s team, the Ottawa Centaurs, a budding relationship begins between Troy and the Centaurs’ social media manager, Harris. The second season will also continue to follow Shane Hollander’s relationship with Ilya Rozanov, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie.

In a statement obtained by Parade, Heated Rivalry’s showrunner, Jacob Tierney, and executive producer Brendan Brady said that “Reid has given us two beautifully layered characters in Harris and Troy who you can’t help but root for.”

“From the start of the casting process, we knew we were looking for actors who could create something truly special together and bring that same depth and heart to the screen. Justice and Charlie do exactly that,” Tierney and Brady said. “They immediately connected with the vulnerability and resilience at the core of these characters, bringing an instinctive understanding of who Harris and Troy are.”

When Crave made the announcement on social media, fans expressed mixed reactions in the comments section.

“I love Justice Smith, but Harris was written with a certain body type which I would have liked to see represented,” one user said, referring to Harris being a plus-size character in Role Model. “That being said, I can totally see Justin channeling Harris’ goofy, earnest, and fun-loving personality.”

“I’m not feeling good about Harris’ representation, sorry,” another said. “But Jacob, I trust in you.”

However, others are excited, with one user saying, “OH THIS IS PERFECT. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM!”

Gillespie and Smith’s casting announcement comes only a few days after Heated Rivalrysent an important update to their fans, asking them to respect the cast and crew as filming begins on the second season.

“Your support, enthusiasm, and kindness have meant the world together,” the TV series posted on Instagram. “As we gear up for more Heated Rivalry, please help us in making it the best it can be. If you happen to come across one of our filming locations, please give our cast and crew the space they need to do what they do best.”

Heated Rivalry is set to release in spring 2027, with the filmmakers saying that they “promise it’ll be worth the wait.”

Ghosts, pumpkins and black cats have become synonymous with Halloween, but not every spooky decoration has the same connection to the holiday's origins, explains real-life witch Celeste Mott. Some Halloween decorations are rooted in centuries-old folklore and harvest traditions, while others became Halloween staples thanks to books, movies and pop culture.

"Halloween is a sacred time for witches, but it's also a commercial holiday where the costuming, masking, and plastic fakery is the point," says Celeste Mott, a writer and the professional witch behind @celestemott. "Fortunately, there are plenty of classic halloween decorations that are both fun and meaningful."

With that in mind, we asked Mott to rank some of Halloween's most iconic Halloween decorations from most authentic to least authentic based on their connection to traditional Halloween and folk practices.

Storybook witches don't really factor into the authentic celebration of Halloween/Samhain—though yes, real witches do observe this time of year as a spiritual significant date,” Celeste explains.

10. Mummies — Least Authentic

Thanks largely to classic monster movies, mummies have become a Halloween favorite despite having little historical connection to the holiday itself. They round out the list as one of the least authentic decorations from a traditional witchcraft perspective, since they actually come from ancient Egyptian traditions.

As Celeste points out, authenticity isn't always black and white. "Ranking these by authenticity really means ranking them by how much real folk history is behind them versus how much is just horror-movie branding. Authenticity depends a lot on which specific witchcraft tradition you're talking about, since there are many, so this ranking reflects my own practice rather than a universal scale,” she explains.

As Little House on the Prairie and The Five-Star Weekend dropped on Netflix and Peacock, respectively, all eyes were on how they would perform in the Top 10 streaming charts that Nielsen tracks. Of course, nobody really thought they would overtake the reality sensation that is Love Island USA.

While everyone expected it to remain at the top, because there is something weirdly obsessive about this reality dating show, what people likely didn’t expect was for it to cross two billion minutes watched. This is across the 282 episodes on Peacock, so there is a little bit of an advantage here, but it makes it clear that the streamer has a huge hit on its hands. It’s the most views in one week that the series has ever had.

The season has been met with drama and controversies from the very beginning. Now in its eighth season, almost as soon as the new season began, one contestant was removed for using a racial slur. The week of July 6 marked a huge moment for Netflix, as its long-awaited reboot of Little House on the Prairie premiered on July 9, 2026. It didn’t take long for the series to land on the Top 10 for the streaming giant, and those figures also reflect on Nielsen’s charts. The binge-watch, which has already been renewed, pulled in a respectable 926 million minutes watched.

Sure, this is far behind Love Island USA, but let’s take into account that there are three days when the reality show didn’t have competition, and there are only eight episodes compared to 282 episodes. The reboot has proven that people wanted it, whether they were ready for a slightly more modernized version of filming or to see the changes in the storyline compared to the original adaptation of the books.

Netflix’s The Worst Neighbor Ever and I Will Find You pulled in third and fourth place with 820 million minutes and 718 million minutes watched, respectively. Sitting in fifth place was another series released on July 9. The Peacock series, The Five-Star Weekend, which has just been renewed for a second season, had 629 million minutes watched.

For this taste test, we made each celebrity s’mores recipe as written, following the original instructions and using the recommended ingredients whenever possible.

Because s’mores are all about balance, we judged each recipe on a few key factors: flavor, texture, creativity, ease of preparation and overall "s'moresiness." A great s’more should highlight the classic combination of chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker, while still offering something memorable.

We also considered whether each recipe felt worth making at home. Some s’mores twists require extra steps or additional ingredients, so we wanted to know which ones delivered enough to justify the extra effort.

These tasted exactly how we expected—in the best possible way. They're incredibly chocolate-forward thanks to the combination of the Oreo cookies and chocolate candy bar, while the marshmallow and Oreo creme filling make each bite undeniably sweet. If you're looking for a dessert that dials back on sweetness, this isn't it.

What we liked most was the size. Unlike a traditional s'more, which can be a little filling and a lot messy, these are perfectly bite-sized, making them easy to serve at parties or enjoy as a quick treat. The finished dessert lands somewhere between an upgraded s'more and an Oreo on steroids. While it doesn't completely replace the campfire classic, it's a fun twist that Oreo lovers will happily devour.

6. Simone Biles' S’mores Cookies

Olympic champion Simone Biles puts a cookie spin on the campfire classic with a recipe that packs all the familiar flavors of a traditional s'more into one oversized dessert. Instead, caramelized strawberries deliver the fruity sweetness, pairing with creamy peanut butter, a classic chocolate bar and a perfectly toasted marshmallow for a combination that's nothing short of magical.

The caramelized strawberries are what make this recipe stand out. Their bright, slightly tangy flavor cuts through the sweetness of the chocolate and marshmallow, while the peanut butter adds a rich, salty element that ties everything together. The result is a s'more that feels a little more sophisticated than the traditional campfire version, while still keeping all the fun and nostalgia of the original.

It’s the kind of flavor combination that makes you wonder why peanut butter and strawberry haven’t always been part of the s’mores conversation. The recipe feels fresh and summery without losing the familiar flavors that make s’mores such a favorite.

Liza Minnellibecame one of Hollywood's most celebrated triple threats, earning countless awards throughout her legendary career. Now, in her new memoir, she's opening up about her struggles with drugs and alcohol, her rise to fame, and the journey to sobriety.

The icon wasn't a stranger to show business, having grown up as the daughter of another Hollywood legend, Judy Garland, and director Vincente Minnelli. Having been integrated into the business at a young age, appearing alongside her mother, Minnelli began her own career at 17 years old in Best Foot Forward.

In a new Instagram post, Minnelli shared a recent photo of herself and a throwback, while mentioning her new memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This. Written with journalists Josh Getlin and Heidi Evans, the book is based on conversations she had with musician Michael Feinstein detailing her childhood and career in Hollywood.

Minelli's post focuses on one of the darker aspects of fame and shares a snippet of the book about her drug and alcohol abuse. She posts in celebration, as she's sober at 80.

“Growing up, I met a lot of people who popped too many pills, drank too much, and played games with dangerous drugs. They eventually stumbled and fell. I’d had a front-row seat to Mamas demons. But I was convinced I was different. I was too smart for that. I wasn’t a heavy drinker. I just liked wine," reads her memoir.

"If Valium calmed me down by day, why couldn’t a pill help me sleep at night? I used cocaine, but so did everybody else. Baby, I had it all under control. I was a survivor. ‘You’re too smart to ruin your life. Liza,’ I told myself. ‘You’re not that stupid.’”… WRONG!!! Sober at 80 is so much better."

Minnelli has been open and honest about her struggles with substance abuse and recovery, having gotten into alcohol and prescription drugs due to the pressure of fame and her mother's death. She would enter rehabilitation several times over the decades, with the most publicized being in 2004 when she became dependent on pain medication from a back surgery.

She once told AARP, "I haven't 'beaten' addiction. Nobody does if it's in the blood. It can flare up without warning if you're not vigilant. But for the first time, I've fought it to a draw. I'm keeping it at bay. That's the truth. That's the difference. One day at a time."

Fans rallied behind the star after her posts, with one fan commenting, "Liza we love you so much. Congrats on the sobriety journey, Im 4 and half years, took me two decades to get 4 and a half days! Im reading your book, I wrote one too called Pop Scars, in my dreams you will read it one day. Thanks for always being so honest In your life, My late sister adored you too, keep shining Liza, we love ya! ODAAT."

Four decades after the iconic heavy metal band Metallica released its 1986 classic "Master of Puppets," the track remains one of the defining songs in music history.

Formed by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the four-piece band rose from the underground metal scene to become one of the Big Four of thrash metal alongside Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax.

With countless accolades to its name, Metallica continues to earn recognition for its timeless catalog.

The latest honor sees "Master of Puppets" recognized as one of the "Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of All Time.”

Based on Rolling Stone's rankings, the publication compiled a list of the top 100 tracks that left a lasting mark on the heavy metal scene.

While Black Sabbath's 1970 song "Black Sabbath" secured the top spot, Metallica's “Master of Puppets” ranked No. 2.

Rolling Stone praised the track for its unexpected "twists and turns," from its "supercharged verses" to its "somber middle section" to its thunderous shout-along bridge and Hammett's searing guitar solo.

Written by Hetfield, arranged by Ulrich, with Burton contributing harmonies and melodies and Hammett delivering blistering, fast-paced guitar solos, the song was inspired by manipulation and the control of drug addiction.

“I’ve seen it done to different people,” the vocalist revealed in a previous interview as cited by Far Out Magazine. “Some of the stuff… well, ‘Master of Puppets’ deals pretty much with drugs. How things get switched around, instead of you controlling what you’re taking and doing, it’s drugs controlling you.”

The modern streaming resurgence also played a pivotal role in the song’s current status. For the first time ever, "Master of Puppets" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its placement in the 2022 season finale of Stranger Things.

With this, Hammett reflected on the song's enduring appeal, expressing his appreciation that it has remained relevant decades after its release.

“What surprises me the most is when I listen to the radio and something from ‘Master of Puppets’ will come on, and I’m amazed at how current and modern it still sounds,” he told Rolling Stone in a separate interview, adding, “I’m thankful for that. That doesn’t always happen.”

"To infinity and..." Wait, wrong franchise!

According to a recent story from Variety, Disney+ has officially ordered a pilot for a planned TV adaptation of Epcot's iconic theme park attraction, Spaceship Earth.

Among the original rides present at Disney World's Epcot theme park upon the property's grand opening on October 1, 1982, Spaceship Earth serves as a traditional dark ride inside the eye-catching geodesic sphere that sits at the center of Epcot.

Boarding the ride's cars, guests experience a 15-minute long narrated journey into the evolution of communication, from the earliest days of prehistoric cave paintings to the ongoing advancements of the modern internet.

As per Variety, the new TV adaptation of the ride will be overseen by showrunner and executive producer Jason Fuchs via Five Ten Productions. Michael Waldon will also serve as executive producer under his Anomaly Pictures banner, as will Lee Toland Krieger, who will also direct the pilot.

The official premise for the pilot episode reads, "When a mission to avert an imminent global cataclysm goes awry, a small band of teenagers from Earth’s past and future must join forces to confront a threat as vast and mysterious as time itself.”

Casting for the new TV series is currently open.

Of course, Disney has a long and accomplished track record when it comes to adapting some of their park's most beloved theme park attractions. Previously, the studio has adapted Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise, all of which have met with varying levels of success among audiences.

Over the years, Spaceship Earth has gone through a number of renovations and refurbishments, allowing the ride to keep up to date with new technology and rider preferences. The most recent planned update was delayed to the COVID-19 pandemic in the beginning of the 2020s, with the latest completed update coming in 2007.

Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur’s death, one of hip hop’s most enduring mysteries is finally heading to trial.

The Grammy-nominated rapper, actor and cultural icon was only 25 years old when he was killed in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting in September 1996. Known for songs like “California Love,” “Changes” and “I Get Around”, Shakur became one of the most influential artists of his generation, using his music to explore themes of social injustice, struggle, and life on the streets.

Now, the man accused of orchestrating his murder is set to face a jury and prosecutors say his own words could become a key part of the case. Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a former gang leader who has been charged with first-degree murder, is scheduled to go on trial in Las Vegas beginning Aug. 10. Davis has pleaded not guilty and maintains his innocence.

Shakur was killed on Sept. 7, 1996, after leaving a Mike Tyson boxing match. He was riding in a car driven by Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight when another vehicle pulled alongside them and opened fire. Tupac died six days later, leaving behind a groundbreaking music catalog and a legacy that continues to influence artists today.

For decades, the case remained unsolved. But as Billboard reported, Davis’ own words may become one of the most significant pieces of evidence in the case. In his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, Davis described his alleged involvement in the events surrounding Shakur’s death. In the book, Davis wrote about being inside the vehicle involved in the shooting and claimed he had obtained the gun used in the attack. 

Davis’ attorneys have claimed the memoir was created for entertainment and should not be treated as a confession. But a judge has ruled that prosecutors can present Davis’ statements to jurors, including comments in which he described the book as the “real truth.”

As the trial begins, fans around the world will once again revisit the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur - an artist whose influence has not waned. Nearly three decades later, the man accused of taking his life may now be forced to answer for the story he told himself, seemingly hoisted by his own petard.

It's hard to believe 30 years have passed since the original Space Jam movie hit theaters. And this year marks the 25th anniversary of its iconic soundtrack going platinum a whopping six times.

Among the film's memorable stars is Wayne Knight, a household name in the 1990s thanks to Space Jam and other classic projects as well. We're talking Jurassic Park, where he played the villainous computer programmer; Toy Story 2, where he voiced evil "Al" who wanted to send Woody and friends to Tokyo; and the show about nothing: Seinfeld.

Yes, Knight touched all sorts of genres three decades ago, but fans know him best of all as "Newman." Just reading his Seinfeld character's name might cue visions of Jerry Seinfeld exclaiming it with a burst of rage and a clenched fist.

Cut to 2026, and Friday, August 6 marks Knight's 71st birthday. It's fortunate to know that he remains busy in Hollywood after all these years, with recent projects including:

• the Prime Video series Them (where he portrayed Lieutenant Schiff for five episodes in 2024)

Knight's Seinfeld Co-Star Is Also a Birthday Boy

Friday is also the birthday of another memorable Seinfeld actor: Tobin Bell. Though just a guest star, he stole the spotlight in the season 4 episode “The Old Man” as the owner of a used record store, where Kramer (Michael Richards) and Newman (Knight) try to cash in on Jerry’s unwanted vinyl collection. The pair are insulted when the shop owner offers just $5 for the records, setting off one of the episode’s funniest side stories.

Bell, who is now 84, finally got his big break in 2004 when he was cast as John Kramer, better known as Jigsaw, in Saw. The low-budget horror film became an unexpected phenomenon, launching one of the highest-grossing horror franchises ever. Bell reprised the role in eight sequels, portraying Jigsaw across nine Saw films and earning a reputation as one of the genre’s defining villains.

Some of the most fascinating music in America has folk origins. Before contracts and patents took over the music industry, things worked off an honor system of sorts, which admittedly got more complicated the more music was commercialized. However, the sharing of songs and borrowing of melodies helped give rise to some of the most prolific music of our day.

Chicago singer-songwriter Steve Goodman is a prime example. On the way to New Orleans with his wife aboard the Illinois Central train to visit her grandmother, he was inspired by the gorgeous scenery to pen a tune in homage to the landscape. According to Songfacts, Goodman recorded it for his 1971 self-titled debut album after he learned the train line was set to be decommissioned. He released "City of New Orleans" as a single in 1972, but it ultimately didn't go anywhere under his recording.

That same year, he met fellow troubadour Arlo Guthrie, son of Woody Guthrie, and reportedly begged him to listen to the song. Guthrie agreed to listen to it in a Chicago bar for as long as it took for him to finish his beer, and consequently, completely fell in love with it. He asked if he could take a stab at recording it, and when he did, it shot up to No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. Dolly Parton even sang it in 1976 on her show Dolly.

In 1984, Willie Nelson retooled the song and took it all the way to No. 1. That year, the tune won a Grammy Award for Best Country Song, and since that is primarily a songwriting category, it was bestowed upon Goodman posthumously. Tragically, Goodman died that same year Nelson recorded it, on September 20, 1984, at the age of 36 after battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Goodman's career inspired many artists. "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" was co-written by Goodman but became a massive hit for David Allan Coe, as did his "Go Cubs Go," which remains an iconic anthem written for the Chicago Cubs. As Goodman lived with his cancer diagnosis for over a decade, he originally wrote “A Dying Cubs Fan’s Last Request,” but it was deemed too dark by the league.

Among the greatest sitcoms of the 1960s and early 1970s, Family Affair continues to dazzle nostalgic viewers with its buoyant humor and energetic performances, something that original series star Kathy Garver attributes to the show's endearing legacy today.

In spite of her positive appraisal of the original sitcom today, the 80-year-old Garver doesn't hold a very kind view of the failed 2002 remake series starring Gary Cole and Tim Curry.

“It was terrible,” Garver bluntly told Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview.

As with the original TV show that aired in the '60s, the failed 2000s remake of Family Affair saw an affluent engineer (Cole) and his English valet (Curry) trying to raise his orphaned children in a luxurious New York City Apartment.

Premiering on The WB in September 2002, the remake series was eventually canceled at the network after just 13 episodes, cutting its run short by early 2003.

In her assessment of the show, Garver pointedly said, "Excuse my language, it sucked. In my opinion, it’s very difficult to do remakes. I think sequels are great and they usually do well, but once something is embedded in the culture and in the fan or audience mind, that’s their character. Those are their friends.”

Garver believed that the main faults of the show had to do with the remake's cast, who she felt were unsuited to their respective roles.

“Each person was a loving person," Garver said of the original series' stars. "They were amiable, they liked each other, we all got along."

“Then, you go to Tim Curry, who is very funny," she continued. "When they did the remake, I did my scene with him, but he has a whole different kind of humor, and he didn’t have the same kind of warmth that Sebastian [Cabot] had. [Sebastian] had a warmth for people. Tim Curry, you know, was a little more edgy, so that took away one part of the big aspects of the Mr. French character."

“Gary Cole, love his soul.... he’s doing well on NCIS, but he’s not Uncle Bill," she went on to say. "Brian Keith had this special ability to be this macho guy with a heart of gold and sensitivity. He especially loved children, and that really came through. That was part of who he was.”

Hoda Kotbturns 62 on August 9. But her family isn’t waiting until Sunday to celebrate. The former TODAY anchor’s daughters, nine-year-old Haley and seven-year-old Hope, are treating their famous mom to an early birthday party. On Friday, Kotb shared a couldn’t-be-cuter clip on Instagram, showing off the sweet surprise. Along with the caption, “Wow! A couple of days early!” the mom of two featured a video of herself walking into a balloon-filled, streamer-covered hallway. Kotb was clearly taken aback by the pre-Bday mini-bash, saying, “Oh wow! Oh my…what? Wow!”

Hope puts a party hat on her shocked mom’s head as the family dog, Waffles, jumps at Hoda’s feet. But that’s not the end of the pre-party party. 

With King Harvest’s ‘Dancing In the Moonlight’ playing in the background, Kotb exclaims, "This is my favorite song in the whole wide world.” And, as she impatiently tells her mom, it was all young Hope’s idea. 

The BTS look into Kotb’s family life also includes clips of a happy birthday sign, more balloons, a birthday banner,  a family meal, and a series of sweet snapshots of Hoda and her two girls.

Fans flocked to the post, sending their well wishes with comments such as, “Happy Birthday to another lap around the sun. What you have taught your precious girls is a gift that will keep giving!” and “Happy Birthday Hoda woman…we share the same birthday…You love hard as I do. I wish you health, peace, and happiness this coming year. You bring so much joy to everyone.”

While Hoda is clearly taking some time off to spend with her daughters, she’s also hanging with her former co-host. Kotb recently shared a pic of herself and Savannah Guthrie, captioning the photo, “My favorite place…next to you.”

Fans may have noticed Savannah’s absence on the TODAY set. The star announced in late July that she would take some time off to film her upcoming Wordle game show, telling viewers, “I’m headed over to shoot Wordle over the next few weeks. We’re going to shoot the whole season, and we’re super excited. Cannot wait for everyone to see it. It’ll probably air, I think, in the new year.”

Tim Robbins is looking more handsome than ever with full white hair over thirty years after he played Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption.

Robbins, 67, kicked off his career with roles in The Sure Thing and Top Gun, and skyrocketed to fame in the role of Nuke LaLoosh in 1988’s Bull Durham. While he’s also an acclaimed director with projects like Dead Man Walking, he later became a household name in the fan favorite flick The Shawshank Redemption. Based on the Stephen King short story Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, the film went on to become a cult classic in the years that followed.

In the present day, Robbins is looking mighty fine with a head full of white hair. Spotted by photographers walking through New York City, the star of Apple TV+'s Silo is rocking Silver Fox territory with his luscious white locks.

Robbins Is Heading Back to the Baseball Field

It was Bull Durham, in which Robbins played the role of pitcher Nuke LaLoosh opposite Kevin Costnerand Susan Sarandon, that introduced many audience members to the star. Now, Robbins is heading back to the baseball field. The star is set to appear in The Catch alongside Sissy Spacek, Emma Stone, and Chris Pine, Deadline reported. Saturday Night Live favorite Ashley Padilla and comedian Druski have also joined the cast of the film, which will be directed by Dave McCary. The piece says details are being kept under wraps, but that “the film is a baseball rom-com in the vein of Bull Durham and Notting Hill.“

At least that will be familiar territory!

Robbins Isn’t Crazy About Netflix as The Future of Film

Back in 2024, Robbins opened up in an interview with The Guardian about why he’s not so crazy about streaming platforms.

“You go on Netflix right now, you see what films are coming out, and you tell me that that’s the future of cinema? We’re in big trouble,” Robbins told the publication, adding that when Shawshank Redemption hit theaters, it got “good reviews.” However, “nobody saw it.” Luckily, the world came to love the movie because it was played endlessly on VHS and on television.

“It remains on top of IMDb as the most favoured movie of all time,” he said. “So I know that a quality movie, a quality television show, will last. Whether it’s a hit or not is irrelevant compared to what people are going to think about it in 10, 15, 20 years.”

• The spangram describes the puzzle's theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. It may be two words.
• The spangram highlights in yellow when found.
• An example spangram with corresponding theme words: PEAR, FRUIT, BANANA, APPLE, etc.

Need a hint?

• Find non-theme words to get hints.
• For every three non-theme words you find, you earn a hint.
