1976 Hit Ranked Among Best ‘American Rock Songs’ Became a Timeless Classic
In 1976, Blue Öyster Cult released a song that would become one of the most lasting and recognizable tracks in classic rock history.
Their single, "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" became the band's biggest hit, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and introducing their sound to a wider audience. Decades later, it continues to be ranked among the best American rock songs of all time, including by Ultimate Classic Rock.
Written by frontman Buck Dharma, the song was inspired by a deeply personal idea:coming to terms with mortality. At the time, Dharma was grappling with his own fears about death and sought to channel that anxiety into something more peaceful and reflective.
"I had been diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia and it scared me," Dharma told Ultimate Classic Rock. "The cardiologist said, 'You know this isn't going to kill you. You can manage this.' And it has been managed with medication for 45 or 50 years now. But it got me thinking about dying." The result was a song that doesn't fear death, but instead frames it as a natural part of life.
That weighty concept was paired with an unexpectedly accessible sound. With its chiming guitar riff, layered harmonies and steady rhythm, "(Don’t Fear) The Reaper" struck a balance between philosophical depth and pop appeal, helping it stand out on the radio in the mid-1970s.
The song also became known for one of rock's most famous, yet unexpected elements: the cowbell. Though it played a subtle role in the original recording, it later took on a life of its own in pop culture, especially after being immortalized in a memorable sketch on Saturday Night Live.
Despite the humor that followed, the song's core message has endured. Its exploration of life, love and mortality continues to resonate with listeners, giving it a timeless quality that goes far beyond its era.
Today, Blue Öyster Cult is still going strong. "As long as we feel good and sound good, we'll keep playing," Dharma told Guitar World last year. "It's a different group, but the current guys have been in the band longer than the original guys. And we still have the same vocalists, so that's something. We're taking some commitments for 2025, but there’s no promises for the future."
More than four decades later, "(Don’t Fear) The Reaper" remains a defining track for Blue Öyster Cult, and a powerful reminder that even the heaviest themes can be transformed into something lasting and universal.

Savannah Guthrie Breaks Silence on Ransom Notes in Mom’s Case
In her first interview since her mother’s disappearance, Savannah Guthrie is opening up about a troubling aspect of the case: the ransom notes sent to the family. Speaking with Hoda Kotbduring a new Today segment, Guthrie shared what she’s been told about the notes—and what she believes about their credibility.
"There are a lot of different notes, I think that came. And I think most of them, it's my understanding, are not real," Guthrie told Kotb. "But I believe the two notes that we received that we responded to, I tend to believe those were real."
Savannah and her sister, Annie Guthrie, and their brother, Camron Guthrie, posted two videos in which they spoke directly to the would-be kidnapper, pleading for their mom's release. Authorities believe that Nancy Guthrie, 84, was taken from her Arizona home in the middle of the night on Sunday, Feb. 1.
In the days that followed, a number of different ransom notes were sent—some to news outlets like TMZ and others directly to the family. However, authorities have worked to confirm the authenticity of these demands, even making an arrest after learning that one request reportedly sent to Annie wasn't legit. Derrick Callella was arrested and charged after sending a demand for ransom back in February.
As far as the public knows, none of the ransom demands were sent with proof of life. Savannah has not shared any additional details about what might have been written in those two particular ransom notes that made her and her family believe they were real.

‘70s Hit Classic Sitcom Canceled 52 Years Ago — Here’s Why It Lost to TV's No. 1 Show
It’s been 52 years since The Partridge Family ended its four-season run on ABC. The musical sitcom debuted on September 25, 1970, and ended with the episode “S.O.S.” on March 23, 1974.
Starring Shirley Jones, David Cassidy, Susan Dey, Danny Bonaduce, Dave Madden, Suzanne Crough, and Brian Forster, The Partridge Family was about a fictional family pop band. In real life, that fictional band made hit records, fronted by Cassidy and, occasionally, Jones, with session musicians doing the rest.
At the height of its popularity, The Partridge Family aired after The Brady Bunch on ABC’s Friday night schedule. A move to Saturday night in September 1973 partially sealed the sitcom’s fate, but the show likely would have ended anyway.
‘The Partridge Family’ couldn’t compete against a CBS hitFueled by Cassidy’s hit records, The Partridge Family was an instant success in 1970. But the network’s decision to split it from its Friday night Brady Bunch lead-in caused problems.
In an interview with the Television Academy Foundation, Jones noted that the show’s new competition was All in the Family, Norman Lear’s edgy CBS sitcom starring Carroll O’Connor, Jean Stapleton, Rob Reiner, and Sally Struthers.
“It was the beginning of a new kind of television,” Jones recalled. “They had the show with Archie Bunker, and we were going to be opposite All In The Family … that was a very different kind of family.”
“Our show was out of style, and we wouldn’t be able to compete with a show like All In The Family,” she shared. “So they decided we better go while the going’s good.”

David Cassidy had planned to leave the showThe new timeslot wasn’t the only problem. Cassidy, now a full-on teen heartthrob at age 24, was ready to break free of his pop family image.
“I think David, at this point in time, had had it on the show,” Jones said. “He wanted to do a different kind of music than just The Partridge Family kind of music. And I think they made the decision [to cancel] with those two things in mind.”
Cassidy also revealed that he had planned to leave the show regardless of the scheduling move. Speaking with Yahoo in 1998, Cassidy said, “The Partridge Family was a big hit TV show. Had I not planned on leaving The Partridge Family the following year — they kept trying to find these new acts to replace me with that were scary, as if they sought out the people with the least amount of talent, incredibly bad instinct.”
Cassidy noted that in the final season of the show, producers added random characters.
“The kid next door, the twins, the nephew of Reuben Kincaid… they tried a number of things,” he said. “There was this comedian who was really not funny. Still not funny. I think the network took it out of its time slot, put it up against what was the No. 1 show, All in the Family, in its last year, and put it on Saturday night when young people go out usually, and the show died a death.”
Bachelor's Ashley Iaconetti Thought She Knew Reality TV — Then She Joined ‘Real Housewives’ (Exclusive)
Ashley Iaconetti thought she had reality TV figured out, then came along Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
After years in the Bachelor franchise—where romance, rivalries, and on-screen tension are part of the deal—she assumed she knew what she was walking into. But stepping onto RHORI quickly proved otherwise.
“I kind of felt like I've been around conflict on screen before, but I truly haven't,” Iaconetti exclusively told Parade. “It was so much more dramatic than Bachelor.”
For longtime fans, that might come as a surprise. Bachelor Nation is no stranger to emotional moments and villain edits, but Iaconetti, 38, says the tone is completely different. “We might have disagreements… but normally the fights are like talking,” she explained. “We don't like curse out each other.” On Housewives, however, the intensity of those conflicts is dialed way up.
Instead of jumping into the chaos, Iaconetti made a conscious decision to stay on the sidelines. “You're not involved, so don't get involved,” she said of her mindset during one particularly tense moment between castmates Jo-Ellen Tiberi and Rosie DiMare early in the season. As a newcomer to a cast where many relationships were already established, she chose to observe rather than insert herself into long-standing dynamics.
That approach, however, came with its own concerns. Iaconetti admitted she may have been more guarded than expected while filming. “I went in with so much… education on it that I may have even been a little guarded,” she said, adding that she even worried she was “too careful” in how she came across.
Still, her presence marks a major crossover moment for the franchise. The Real Housewives of Rhode Island—which premieres April 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo—introduces a brand-new cast set in the Ocean State, including Kelsey Swanson, Alicia Carmody, Liz McGraw,Rulla Nehme Pontarelli, RHONJ alum Dolores Catania, plus Tiberi and DiMare.
’70s Yacht Rock Legend Dies — Cause of Death Revealed
Darrell “Dash” Crofts, the second half of Seals & Crofts, has died. He was 85 years old.
The classic rock legend is responsible for some of yacht rock’s biggest hits, like “Summer Breeze,” “Diamond Girl,” and “Get Closer.”
According to TMZ, Crofts died yesterday, March 25, with the duo’s longtime record producer, Louis Shelton, announcing the news this morning. Shelton told the outlet Crofts’ cause of death was complications from heart surgery.
“Sad to hear our dear brother and partner in music has passed away today. Sending love and prayers to all his family and many fans. R.I.P. my brother.....Dash Crofts,” Shelton wrote on Facebook with a photo of Crofts.
Shelton produced Seals & Crofts’ Year of Sunday (1971), the double-platinum Summer Breeze (1972), gold-certified Diamond Girl (1973), and the gold-selling Get Closer (1976), several of which had singles that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Crofts was born in Cisco, Texas. When he was young, he played piano for Dean Beard and the Crew Cats. This is where he met Jim Seals, also a Texan. Together, they toured with The Champs in 1958 and scored their first hit with “Tequila.” In the 1960s, they moved to the West Coast and by 1969 had “developed a new sound that would be described (sometimes derisively) as soft rock, Ultimate Classic Rock writes.
"About the same time as people like Crosby Stills and Nash," Crofts told the Record Mirror, per UCR, "we realized that we had to get out of the money-making aspect of loud rock 'n' roll into some music which we really believed in."
The duo broke up in 1983 but reunited in the '90s and 2000s. In 1998, Crofts released a solo album, Today. In 2022, Crofts’ longtime collaborator, Seals, passed.
No plans for a memorial have been set at this time, TMZ reports.

The museum’s auditorium will hold around 400 people and feature updated technology for an immersive experience.
“National Geographic has always been about sending our explorers out,” Jill Tiefenthaler, CEO of the National Geographic Society, told Parade, reflecting on the platform’s opportunity to be relevant for new generations, and noting that visitors should ideally set aside a few hours to explore the museum. “We are hoping to bring visitors here to get excited about our mission.”

Accessibility and inclusion has been integral to the museum’s design process, with content in both English and Spanish across the museum. The “In Focus” exhibit is a celebration of National Geographic’s photographic legacy, from George Shiras’ first photo of wildlife taken at night to Ami Vitale’s photo of the last male northern white rhinoceros. Another moving photography exhibit, “Photo Ark: Animals of Earth,” propels conservation to the forefront in collaboration with photographer Joel Sartore, whose Photo Ark project seeks to document every species living in captivity, from zoos and aquariums to wildlife sanctuaries and rehabilitation centers. Over 17,000 species have been photographed in the decades-long project.
“To see my life’s work featured as an inaugural immersive exhibition in the new National Geographic Museum of Exploration is truly an honor. Derek Jeter’s Net Worth in 2026 and How the Baseball Legend Made It
Derek Jeter’s name is up there with Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio when it comes to the most famous players the New York Yankees (and baseball as a whole) have ever seen; during his 20-year stint playing for the team, he saw great success and amazing wins. Derek Jeter's net worth is as massive as his fame.
Jeter’s personal life was also the source of much celebrity gossip as he was quite the playboy in his heyday. All of this notoriety helped Jeter stay in the spotlight beyond most baseball players. With endorsements, TV appearances and more, in addition to his baseball career, he amassed quite a fortune.
Here is everything you ever wanted to know about Derek Jeter’s net worth (2026).
Derek Jeter became famous for his time playing for the Major League Baseball team the New York Yankees, one of the most successful teams in the history of the MLB. Jeter is credited as being one of the primary contributors to the team’s fruitful run in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Jeter spent his entire 20-year MLB career playing for the Yankees, a rarity in professional sports. He was first drafted by the team straight out of high school in 1992 before being promoted to the major leagues in 1995 at age 20. He would continue as a shortstop for the team from May 29, 1995, until his last appearance on September 28, 2014.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Derek Jeter has a net worth of $200 million. This is cumulative earnings from his salary for playing for the Yankees, plus his business ventures, endorsements, appearances and more.
What is Derek Jeter's salary?Celebrity Net Worth reports Derek Jeter’s salary as $30 million. However, this appears to be the salary that Jeter was earning at the peak of his career from both playing baseball and having endorsement deals. Following his retirement from baseball, Jeter served a stint as CEO for the Miami Marlins. During that time, his salary as CEO was $5 million a year.
Jeter is rumored to still earn $30 million annually from his various endeavors. This will likely see an uptick thanks to his deal with Fox Sports as an MLB commentator.
How much did Derek Jeter pay for the Marlins? In the summer of 2017, Derek Jeter joined a group of partners led by Bruce Sherman to purchase the Miami Marlins from then-owner Jeffrey Loria for $1.2 billion. For his part, Jeter received only a 4% stake in the franchise, but he was in charge of running the baseball and business operations. According to Front Office Sports, when Jeter sold his stake in the team in February of 2022, it was reportedly worth just under $45 million.
At that point, the team was only worth $990 million, a drop from the $1.2 billion the investors had paid for the Marlins back in 2017. This means Jeter may have paid more than $45 million for his share of the Marlins back in 2017.

Derek Jeter joined forces with a group of partners to buy the Miami Marlins in 2017. The leader of these investors was Bruce Sherman, a New York businessman. Another minority shareholder in the team was reportedly basketball legend Michael Jordan. Jeter parted ways with the Marlins and sold his stake in February of 2022.

It is almost certain that Jeter lost money on his investment in the Miami Marlins. We know this because when he sold his shares in the team for a reported $45 million in 2022, the team was valued at $990 million, which is less than the $1.2 billion Jeter and his fellow investors had bought the team for in 2017.
Does Jeter still own part of the Marlins?Derek Jeter stepped down as the CEO of the Marlins and sold his stake in the team following a 5-year contract in February of 2022. This means that Jeter is no longer a part-owner of the Marlins and has no affiliation with the team.
It was reported that Jeter parted ways with the team due to a conflict with Sherman over his ownership share and the financial commitment to the team’s roster.
How much does Derek Jeter make a year?Celebrity Net Worth reports Derek Jeter makes around $30 million a year from his business investments, endorsement deals and appearances.
How much did Derek Jeter make with the Yankees?Just from his baseball salary alone for playing for the Yankees for 20 years, Derek Jeter made a reported $265 million. That earns him the thirteenth rank of the highest-earning baseball players of all time.
Who made more money, Alex Rodriguez or Derek Jeter? As mentioned above, Derek Jeter ranks as the second-highest-earning baseball player of all time. The first highest-earning baseball player of all time happens to be Jeter’s former teammate, Alex Rodriguez, with a reported $350 million in baseball earnings alone. However, Jeter’s career has not been mired by controversy the way Rodriguez’s has.

A kindhearted fan named Christian Lopez caught Derek Jeter’s 3,000th hit, only to give it back to the then-captain of the Yankees, like a real gem. This grand gesture potentially cost the fan an estimated $250,000!
How much did Derek Jeter make over his career? From his baseball career alone, Jeter earned around $265 million. During that time, he also earned at least $150 million from endorsements. This means Jeter earned a total of at least $415 million during his baseball career combined. Guess it pays to play!
How much did Derek Jeter make in endorsements?Derek Jeter made at least $150 million in endorsements during his baseball career, according to Celebrity Net Worth. That’s certainly enough to pay for a vacation or two.
How much did Derek Jeter make from Nike?Jeter has had endorsement deals with Nike, Gatorade, Avon, Steiner Sports, Movado, Rawlings, 24-Hour Fitness and Luvo. He has remained tight-lipped about the amount each deal has been worth, so we do not know for sure how much he has made from his deal with Nike. Considering how big the company is and that Jeter has made at least $150 million from various endorsements during his baseball career, we can imagine it was in the tens of millions.

How much did Derek Jeter make in The Other Guys?Derek Jeter filmed a cameo role in the Mark Wahlberg movie The Other Guys. However, his role was cut down from its original version. Either way, it is not known how much Jeter was paid for his participation in the movie.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Savannah Breaks Down as She Blames Herself for Mom's Abduction on 'Today'
Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing, going on eight weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and the Today co-anchor broke down in tears on the NBC morning show as she blamed herself for her mother's abduction.
On Thursday, March 26, Today aired an interview of Savannah speaking to her friend and colleague Hoda Kotb about the ongoing search for Nancy, 84.
Savannah explained that her brother, Camron Guthrie, a fighter pilot in the military, "saw very clearly right away what this was" when Nancy went missing. "He knew. And he said, 'I think she's been kidnapped for ransom.'"
"I just, I didn't want to believe... I just said, 'Do you think because of me?'" Savannah said to her brother. "And he said, 'I'm sorry, sweetie, but yeah, maybe.' But I knew that."
To Kotb, Savannah admitted they "still don't know" for sure if that's what happened. "Honestly, we don't know anything."

She continued, “I don’t know that it’s because she’s my mom and somebody thought, ‘Oh, that girl, that lady has money. We can make a quick buck,’” she said. “I mean, that would make sense. But we don’t know.”
After Savannah called the idea "too much to bear," she struggled to maintain her composure. "To think that I brought this to her bedside, that it's because of me... "
She tearfully added, “I’d just say I’m so sorry, Mommy. I’m so sorry. I’m sorry to my sister and my brother and my kids and my nephew and Tommy, my brother-in-law. I’m just, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. If it is me, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.”
Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on the evening of Jan. 31, with the search for her launching on Feb. 1. As of writing, no suspect has been named.

The 71-year-old supermodel and former America's Next Top Model judge went after Banks twice in less than two weeks — first on E!'s Dirty Rotten Scandals on March 11, and then again while hosting TMZ After Dark on March 23. Both times, she made it clear she has no interest in being diplomatic about her four seasons on the show.
On Dirty Rotten Scandals, Dickinson claimed Banks and producers pushed her to be meaner on camera. "The producers, especially Tyra, were begging me to be harsher and cruel, like Simon Cowell was on American Idol," she said. She alleged the show chewed contestants up and spit them out. "They left the show completely depressed and depleted while she got so effing rich," Dickinson said. "America's Next Top Model really tortured these girls for Tyra's ego. I was there and I saw it for four seasons."
View this post on InstagramDickinson also alleged Banks treated Black contestants more harshly. "She would go harder on the Black girls on the show because of competitiveness and jealousy and her being older than these young women," Dickinson claimed. She also referenced a specific on-set incident: "Tyra didn't want any competition. She went off on one girl and it was so frightening that I was going to get up and hold her down."
On TMZ After Dark, Dickinson went further. She said she regrets doing the show entirely, called Banks a "b****," and accused her of making contestants change ethnicities, pull out their teeth, and shave their heads.
Dickinson's comments come at a moment when ANTM is already under a microscope. Netflix's Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model dropped February 16 and quickly became the platform's No. 1 series. The three-part documentary features Banks alongside former judges and contestants revisiting the show's most controversial moments.
Jay Manuel, the show's former creative director, told People that Banks wouldn't speak to him off camera: "Tyra chose not to speak with me at all while the cameras were off. When they were on, she'd speak to me." He described his later cycles on the show as "torture."
Nigel Barker, another former judge, told Page Six in March that he hasn't spoken to Banks since the documentary aired.
View this post on InstagramBanks has not responded to Dickinson's specific allegations. She has previously described her tough on-screen persona as "a character" and has said in recent interviews that she "went too far" on the show.

‘Dirty Dancing’ Star Turns 66, Rocks Bikini in Sun-Soaked Girls Trip Pics
Three things we learned this morning: 1) Jennifer Grey is pals with Bad Bunny, 2) she named her dog Benito after the global trap artist, and 3) she does 66 better than anyone else.
The Dirty Dancing star, celebrating her 66thbirthday today, is captivating and timeless as ever. Sharing on social media news about a new puppy, a girls trip, her connection to Bad Bunny, and projects in the works, Grey has a lot going on.
Last month, the beauty took to Instagram to share a trip to the beach. Looking chill in a black two-piece bathing suit and matching shades, the actress lets her curly hair go free and poses on a pink blanket on the sand with the turquoise water lapping behind her.
“Long overdue girls trip @tracy.pollan 🤍 giggled like we were back in high school,” she wrote in the caption.
For the uninitiated, Tracy Pollan is the Emmy-nominated actress best known for her role on Family Ties, where she met her hubs, Michael J. Fox. The two are lifelong friends, with Pollan posting back, “Love you the mostest.”
In another pic, Pollan and Grey take a close-up bestie selfie, with both wearing sunglasses and black suits.
In puppy news, Grey recently got herself a new furry best friend. She shared details about him and his link to Bad Bunny in early February, writing the following.
“I first laid 👀on @badbunnypr in 2022. Suffice it to say…I was shooketh. Then 10 days ago, this little guy showed up and has stolen my heart. Please meet Benito, a name inspired by the miraculous and soulful #BenitoBowl, a powerful exaltation of love unity and joy #loveismorepowerfulthanhate,” she wrote in her February post introducing both her love for Bad Bunny and her new puppy.
As for work, Grey has a lot of irons in the fire. Upcoming projects include The Altruists, a series focused on the Sam Bankman-Fried story co-starring Hudson Williams, Terry Chen, and Julia Garner. She also has the Dirty Dancing sequel to look forward to. From Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, the film will see Grey reprising her role as Frances "Baby" Houseman and also have her executive produce.
Mom to Stella Gregg, 24, Grey has been married to actor/director Clark Gregg since July 21, 2001.
Have a wonderful birthday!
Ryan Gosling Just Revealed the 'Star Wars' Detail That Has Original Trilogy Fans Cheering
In interviews this week promoting the blockbuster Project Hail Mary, Ryan Gosling offered a series of behind-the-scenes details about Star Wars: Starfighter, the Shawn Levy–directed standalone film opening May 2027, that have generated significant attention among fans of the franchise.
The most substantive revelation involves the production's approach to alien characters. Gosling confirmed that Starfighter will feature practical puppets and physical creature work. Most of the creatures of the first three films, built by Stuart Freeborn and the puppet fabricators at Elstree Studios between 1976 and 1983, were physical objects on set. Yoda, introduced in Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, was a rod-and-cable puppet performed by Frank Oz. The Mos Eisley cantina aliens, the Jabba's palace denizens, the Ewoks, all built by hand, all present in the room with the actors.
The prequel trilogy, which ran from 1999 to 2005, shifted that balance heavily toward digital effects. Jar Jar Binks became the most visible symbol of what critics felt was lost in the transition. When J.J. Abrams revived the franchise with The Force Awakens in 2015, he made a deliberate point of returning to practical construction (BB-8 was a functioning physical robot), and the film's creature work drew explicit comparisons to the original films. The two films that followed were inconsistent on that front, and the Disney-era television productions have leaned more heavily on the StageCraft LED volume technology pioneered on The Mandalorian.
Gosling's confirmation that Starfighter is returning heavily to physical creature work is welcome news to fans of those earlier films.
Early in production, Gosling visited the creature shop and was amazed by the depth and breadth of the practical costumes and puppets that were being assembled for the shoot. He became so taken with one alien originally designed as a simple background character that he asked Levy to write him into a scene with it. Speaking toBBC Radio 1's Ali Plumb, he called it among the best scenes he has ever filmed before stopping himself. 'I think I have already said too much,' he said.
Fans are loving it. 'Man..... When I was growing up, I wanted to be a puppeteer or miniatures/sfx,' one fan responded. 'Then right before I started making important life choices, the time of green screens came and CGI replaced everything.... I saw the writing on the wall and pivoted... Now I'm 20yrs into a different career and boom, the puppets and practical sets are back! I love seeing it, just a little bittersweet. 😄'
The other story making the rounds involves further details about a widely reported Tom Cruise event. Levy had previously told The New York Times that Cruise flew his personal helicopter from London to the Starfighter set one day in November, watched the crew film a lightsaber duel in a flooded location, and then picked up a camera and began shooting the sequence himself, standing ankle-deep in muddy water. That footage will appear in the finished film.

Gosling learned about it from a text message. He was on his only day off. 'I worked on that movie the whole time,' he told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. 'I get one day off, and Shawn sends me a picture of him and Tom Cruise and Flynn [Gray] in the mud.' He added: 'I hope that was an accident.'
Star Wars: Starfighter is the first Star Wars theatrical release set fully outside the Skywalker Saga. It stars Gosling alongside Amy Adams, Mia Goth, Matt Smith, and Aaron Pierre, set approximately five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Between a director fresh off Deadpool & Wolverine's $1.3 billion run, a story built around original characters, practical creature work, and (somewhere out there in the mud) a scene Tom Cruise helped film, the anticipation is more than understandable. The film opens May 28, 2027.
Cinderella’s Castle Is Almost Done With Its Major Makeover
If you’ve been scrolling through Disney TikTok lately, you may have noticed that the skyline of the Magic Kingdom is looking a little different.
After several years of sporting a bold, "rose pink" exterior that debuted for the 50th anniversary, Cinderella Castle is officially shedding its blush tones in favor of a much more nostalgic palette.

View this post on InstagramThe repainting project, which was first teased at the Destination D23 fan event, is moving at a surprisingly fast clip. Travelers visiting this month have been treated to a castle that is rapidly returning to the classic grays, creams and deep blues that defined the park's opening in 1971.
While the 2020 "pink" makeover was a nod to the 70th anniversary of the Cinderellaanimated film, many purists are cheering for this return to the original "storybook" aesthetic.

Disney Imagineers aren't just picking colors out of a hat; the new (old) look is specifically designed to work with the intense Florida sun. During the 2025 D23 "Beyond the Spires" panel, the team noted that the updated grays and creams are meant to enhance the castle’s architecture, making it appear "picture-perfect" from every angle, regardless of the season.
The best news for those with upcoming trips? The work is nearing completion much faster than anticipated.
Guests who expected to see scaffolding in their family vacation photos are instead finding a castle that looks fresh, crisp and ready for its close-up. It’s a subtle but significant shift that proves sometimes the best way to move forward is to look back at the classics.

26 Years Ago, This Disney Song Won an Oscar—and It Still Makes People Cry
It’s one of the most emotional songs in Disney history—and on this day in 2000, it took home Hollywood’s biggest prize.
"You’ll Be in My Heart," written and performed by Phil Collins for Tarzan, won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 72nd Academy Awards—cementing its place as a Disney classic.
The song, which underscores the bond between Tarzan and his adoptive mother Kala, struck a chord with audiences for its heartfelt lyrics and powerful message about love, belonging and protection. Decades later, it remains one of the most recognizable—and tear-jerking—tracks in the Disney catalog.
The night itself was packed with memorable moments.
Hosted by Billy Crystal, the ceremony featured a star-studded presentation lineup, including Cher, who presented Collins, now 75, with the award. Later in the evening, Collins took the stage to perform "You’ll Be in My Heart" live, bringing the emotional ballad to life in front of the audience.
Animation also had a strong presence throughout the ceremony. Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody made a special animated appearance to present the award for Best Animated Short Film, which went to The Old Man and the Sea.
Music from Disney and Pixar films was also front and center. Sarah McLachlan and Randy Newman performed "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2, another emotional standout that has endured with fans over the years.
And in a nod to Disney’s legacy, "When You Wish Upon a Star" from Pinocchio was performed as part of a sweeping medley celebrating iconic movie songs.
The ceremony also took time to honor those the industry had lost. Presented by Edward Norton, the In Memoriam tribute recognized 27 individuals, including actor Jim Varney and legendary Disney animator Marc Davis.
But it was Collins’ win that remains one of the night’s most lasting highlights.
More than two decades later, "You’ll Be in My Heart" continues to resonate.

Both signs are wired to think ahead and embrace forward movement, whether by mapping out big picture goals or innovating on existing ideas. In turn, you’re the kind of grandparent who is happy to get the ball rolling on financial plans for your grandchild’s future, perhaps even before they’re born. You’ll also encourage them to be inventive, to network from the time they’re meeting other toddlers at the park, and to think about what kind of work they’d find most gratifying.
February: The Creative, Dreamer GrandparentBorn when the sun was moving through eccentric fixed air sign Aquarius or rose-colored glasses-wearing mutable water sign Pisces, you’re no stranger to letting your imagination take flight. As a result, you’ll encourage grandchildren to tap into their artistic impulses, allow their imaginations to run wild, and rarely discourage them from being idealistic, wide-eyed, and fantastical. You could be the person who introduces them to some of their favorite novels, films, poems, or plays. You’re also deeply empathic and capable of reading between the lines when your grandchild is moving through heavy emotions, so they’ll know that no matter the uphill battle they may be facing, they can turn to you for healing and support.

Shohei Ohtani's Net Worth in 2026 Is a Grand Slam Indeed
Shohei Ohtani's net worth in 2026 is going to go way up after his achievements on the field last year. In October 2025, he had what some consider one of the great performances in playoff history, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-0 series win over the Milwaukee Brewers and sending them to a World Series. L.A. went on to take home the Commissioner's Trophy, beating the Toronto Blue Jays in an incredible seven-game series.
Ohtani's historic performance follows his 2024 season's accomplishments, which saw the Dodgers go all the way to win the pennant. If you don't follow sports, you might assume that the 40/40 Club is just Jay-Z's chain of sports bars and lounges. However, the bar itself was named after a very elite club: Baseball players who both hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases within a single season.
Ohtani hit that benchmark on Aug. 25, 2024, and he hit it in the shortest time frame of anyone in history: 126 games, as opposed to the previous record of 147 by Alfonso Sorianoin 2006.
Ohtani continues to be paid quite handsomely for his record-shattering accomplishments on the diamond as well: He's the highest-paid baseball player in history. Find out how he made it and what his contract is like.

By being really good at baseball.
Born July 5, 1994, in Iwate, Japan, Ohtani had baseball in his blood, as his father and older brother were both amateur baseball players in the Japanese Industrial League. Growing up, he was known as "yakyū shōnen," Japanese for "baseball boy," as he was obsessed with the game, and he displayed a preternatural talent for the sport from the time he was in elementary school.
Ohtani continued playing baseball in high school, where he was also such a talented swimmer that his former coach told the Los Angeles Times he may have well become an Olympian if he'd pursued that sport as well.
Though he initially planned to join Major League Baseball upon graduating high school, he changed his mind and signed with Japan's Hokaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2012 and remained with the team through 2017. That December, Ohtani signed with the Los Angeles Angels.
