54 Years Ago Today, Classic '60s Sitcom Aired Its Final Episode—But It Wasn’t Actually Canceled

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 6:02am

It's been 54 years since Bewitched ended its eight-season run on primetime TV. The classic sitcom aired on ABC from Sept. 1964, to March 1972. Starring Elizabeth Montgomery as suburban housewife/witch Samantha Stephens, the beloved series featured Dick York, Agnes Moorehead, Dick  Sargent, Erin Murphy, and more.

The final Bewitched episode, titled  “The Truth, Nothing But the Truth, So Help Me Sam,” aired on March 25, 1972, on ABC. The storyline, about a truth spell Endora (Moorhead) places on Darrin (Sargent), was basically a remake of the Season 2 episode “Speak the Truth" and was about as far from a series finale as it could be. Bewitched signed off that season with no official goodbyes or resolutions—and that’s because the show was actually supposed to return that fall.

In an interview with Pop Entertainment, Murphy, now 61, said it was “not true” that the series was canceled by the network. “We were never canceled,” the actress said. “We were supposed to go on, but Liz Montgomery decided that she didn’t want to do another season. So we went off the air gracefully. We weren’t canceled. We all thought we were coming back.”

'Bewitched' could have gone on for 10 seasons

Murphy, who played Tabitha Stephens on the classic comedy series, told Fox News Digital that Bewitched actually had a multi-season renewal when the cast and crew went on summer hiatus after filming Season 8.

"We’d been picked up for two more seasons,” she said. “So we went on our hiatus thinking we were going to come back a month or two [later], and we never did. … They sent a letter to our house [stating] that they decided not to continue. So, I went to Girl Scout camp."

Because the series ended so abruptly, Murphy didn’t have memories of the finale.

“No, and the reason I have no special memories of the final episode is that it wasn’t supposed to be the final episode," she told ReMind magazine in 2025. “We all had contracts for two more years, our show had been picked up for two more seasons, and we went on hiatus like always, expecting to come back.  We all received telegrams and letters which explained that Liz had decided not to do the show anymore, and that we wouldn’t be coming back. The final episode was just like any other week of the show. None of us knew it was the final episode while we were filming it.”

A divorce put a  damper on ‘Bewitched’

Montgomery’s husband, William Asher, was one of the directors on Bewitched. By the time Season 8 rolled around, the Hollywood power couple’s marriage was on the rocks.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Peter Ackerman, the son of Bewitched executive producer Harry Ackerman, claimed his father was given an ultimatum by  Montgomery in 1972.

“The network wanted to continue with the series [but Montgomery] would only do it if my dad would agree to basically fire her soon-to-be ex-husband,” Peter Ackerman alleged. “They had broken up at that point and hired this other fella who was directing that episode to be the new director. My dad said, ‘Liz, Bill Asher is my partner, I’m not going to do that to him.’ And she said, ’Well then, Bewitched is done.’“

Montgomery and Asher divorced in 1973 after 10 years of marriage.

1977 No. 9 Soft Rock Classic Was Written ‘Totally Out of Spite’ by Hard Rock Icon

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 5:50am

In 1977, Alice Cooper had a surprise soft rock hit with the song “You and Me.” The legendary shock rocker hit No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 13, 1977, and remained on the chart for 21 weeks with the sentimental ballad about the simple moments in a loving relationship.

“You and Me” was the first single from Cooper’s 1977 album Lace and Whiskey, but it wasn’t his first ballad. Along with songwriting collaborator Dick Wagner, he previously penned “Only Women Bleed” and “I Never Cry,” which both hit No. 12 on Billboard.

Cooper, who was known for hard rock songs such as “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and “Welcome to My Nightmare,” once revealed that he recorded the trio of ballads as a clapback to naysayers.

“I did those songs totally out of spite,” Cooper told Creem magazine in August 1977.I kept reading so many interviews and articles that I said I was never considered musical. Best rock show they ever saw, but musically lacking. 'They aren't as good as ELP'. Of course not, we didn't want to be!"

"They kept saying I was a performer but didn't write anything,” he continued. “So I said, 'Oh yeah? Yeah? OH, YEAH? Wait till you hear this!' So Wagner and I wrote those ballads just to show we could write."

Cooper finally felt ‘mainstream’

Cooper had prior radio hits, most notably his breakthrough hit "School’s Out” in the early 1970s, but he admitted it was the ballads that brought his music to a mainstream audience.

“I think the ballads were [mainstream],” he told Where Ya At in an interview. “I think ‘Only Women Bleed’ and  ‘You and Me’ and ‘I Never Cry.' ... I mean, Frank Sinatra did ‘You and Me.’ Tina Turner did ‘Only Women Bleed.’ A lot of female artists did a lot of our songs. … I could name you like 20 or 30 different women that have covered Alice Cooper ballads. I wanted to write ballads that would really affect women."

In the Creem interview, Cooper described his ballads as "heavy metal housewife rock." He also joked that some of the easy listening fans may not have known who he was.

“Wouldn't it be shocking if some of them were so out of touch that they didn't know anything about Alice Cooper, and then they saw one of those grizzly pictures with a doll at one end of a sword with blood all over it. 'Well, that must be another Alice Cooper," he cracked in 1977.

Cooper went a step further than mainstream radio with “You and Me.” In 1978,  he guest-starred on The Muppet Showto perform the song as a duet with a Muppet character named Beakie.

During a 2015 appearance at the Edmonton Expo, Cooper explained that when he was invited on The Muppet Show, he told producers, "Yeah, I want to, but I really don't want to give up the Alice character, you know. Alice, the character, I don't want to soften it that much."

And then I said, ‘Well, who have you had on recently, you know?’ " Cooper recalled. "And they said, ‘Well, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price.’ And by that time I went, ‘Yeah, I'll do it.’ Because I figured, you know, if those guys can do the show, then of course I want to do the show.”

1977’s Sweetest Love Song Comes With a Surprisingly Dark Backstory

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 5:49am

In 1977, there was no escaping the Debby Boone song "You Light Up My Life."

The song spent 10 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It topped the chart in mid-October 1977 and held its position through December.

In a twist, according to a Rolling Stone readers' poll from 2011, "You Light Up My Life" was called one of the Top 10 Worst Songs of the decade. The sentimental tune was written as a love song, but Boone reportedly interpreted it as a song about her devotion to God.

The singer told Entertainment Weekly, "I can't say how many weddings I've sung that song at. I've had a lot of DJs over the years saying, 'I got so sick of playing that record.'"

The hugely popular track was written by Joseph Brooks for the 1977 film of the same name, earning an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and a Grammy Award for Record of the Year. The film You Light Up My Life starred Didi Conn, Joe Silver, Michael Zaslow, Stephen Nathan, and Melanie Mayron.

However, what few listeners knew was that years after the song became a hit, in a dark twist, Brooks would be convicted of an unspeakable series of crimes.

According to The New York Times, in 2009, Brooks, 71, was arrested on sexual assault charges. He reportedly lured over a dozen women into his apartment on the premise that he was casting them for a role.

Brooks was freed on bail, but took his own life in his New York City apartment in 2011. It was said he left behind a note saying he believed he would be cleared on all charges.

The family's legal problems continued when, in 2010, Brooks' son, Nicholas Brooks, was arrested after his girlfriend, Sylvie Cachay, was found strangled at a private Manhattan club. Brooks was charged with murder and is serving a sentence at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville, New York, per The Cinemaholic.

Brooks is eligible for parole in December 2035. Cachay's murder was documented in the Netflix series Homicide: New York in an episode titled "Soho Horror."

According to her official website, Debby Boone lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Gabriel Ferrer (son of actor José Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney). She remains active as a performer and has no ties to the aforementioned crimes.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available 24 hours a day through RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673.

‘Today Show' Legend With Iconic Mustache Turns 100

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 5:22am

Gene Shalit, the longtime Today Show film critic known for his unmistakable mustache and colorful bow ties, turns 100 on March 25.

Shalit became a familiar presence on morning television beginning in the 1970s, joining NBC’s Today Show in 1970 before becoming a regular contributor in 1973. Over the next four decades, he delivered film and book reviews with a distinctive style that combined sharp insights, wordplay and a touch of humor.

With his oversized handlebar mustache, fuzzy hair and expressive delivery, Shalit quickly became one of the most recognizable personalities on television. His reviews were often filled with puns and playful language, making him stand out from more traditional critics and helping him connect with a broad audience.

Beyond his on-air presence, Shalit built a long career as a journalist and writer. He contributed to publications including TV Guide, Ladies’ Home Journal, Cosmopolitan and The New York Times, establishing himself as a widely read voice in entertainment criticism.

During his time on Today, Shalit interviewed countless celebrities and brought a sense of warmth and curiosity to his conversations. His unique approach made him a memorable part of the show’s identity for generations of viewers.

Shalit retired from Today in 2010 after 40 years, famously joking, “It’s enough already.” Since then, he has largely stayed out of the public eye, with only occasional appearances, including a brief return to the show in 2015 to celebrate colleague Willard Scott’sretirement.

Colleagues have continued to reflect on his impact. During the show’s 70th anniversary celebration, Al Roker recalled Shalit’s ability to connect with both audiences and guests, saying he “was just spectacular in what he knew and who he knew,” while still remaining approachable.

Shalit’s influence also extended into popular culture, with his distinctive look and style parodied on shows like Saturday Night Live and Family Guy, further cementing his status as a cultural icon.

As he celebrates his 100th birthday, Shalit remains one of the most recognizable figures in the history of television criticism, remembered as much for his personality as for his words.

This Is One of the Best Florida Escapes for Art Lovers—and It’s Not Miami

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 5:10am

When you think of Florida and art together, your first thought probably goes to Miami. And that's no surprise. Between Wynwood's iconic living art walls to Art Basel, the multi-day art fest that celebrates the city's artistic pulse every winter, it's often viewed as the one and only place to go when you're craving an art fix in Florida. However, Miami isn't the only place you can go for inspiring museums, manicured gardens and famous residents. Just 3.5 hours north of sun city sits is another must-visit if you're craving culture—St. Petersburg, or St. Pete as the locals call it.

As local expert Marcea Cazel puts it, "St. Pete an arts mecca." And one quick visit will instantly solidify why. At the center of it all is The Dalí Museum, home to the largest collection of Salvador Dalí’s work outside Spain, but the city’s artistic flair goes far beyond just one institution: there’s the Chihuly Collection and live glassblowing at the Morean, the glass-focused Imagine Museum, the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, whose stunning waterfront location is equally part of the appeal. Beyond museums, there's also a burgeoning food scene (where meals make the art), hand painted murals, instillations and more that have made this city such an acclaimed cultural icon.

Related: I’ve Been on 5 Cruises This Year—This New Downtown Miami Hotel Is My Secret to a Stress-Free Port Morning

The art scene starts with Dalí, but it does not end there

The Dali Museum deserves all of the accolades, as it holds one of the most important collections of Salvador Dalí’s work outside Spain, in a building dramatic enough to hold its own against the art inside. But there's more to St. Pete's art than just Dali. The Museum of Fine Arts gives you almost 5,000 years of work in one sweep, from Monet and O’Keeffe to Kehinde Wiley, and the Chihuly Collection boasts live glass demonstration at the Morean Glass Studio, which turns a leisurely museum stop into something truly interactive. And then there is the city itself. The passionate people behind the SHINE mural festival have also helped by turning the downtown and surrounding arts districts into an open-air gallery, with nearly 170 painted murals since 2015.

Why Now May Be the Best Time to Visit

The Vinoy

St. Pete has had the museums for years, but now is the time to go. Destiny Snyder, a Tampa Bay-based travel blogger, moved to St. Pete in 2017 and has seen the city change so much since then. "There’s always something happening here—whether it’s a local market, an art walk, a foodie pop-up, or some cool new mural that just appeared overnight," she says. The Vinoy, freshly renovated in 2023 and now in its second century, still anchors the waterfront with old-Florida glamour. The Moxy has brought fresh energy to Central Avenue, Sparrow gives downtown another rooftop perch, and Elliott Aster, led by chef Lee Wolen, has turned The Vinoy’s original dining hall into a food experience worth the splurge. Add St. Pete-Clearwater’s inclusion in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide expansion, and the timing starts to look particularly good for travelers who plan trips around where they want to eat as much as what they want to see.

Art isn't just for the grown-ups here either

St. Pete's Art Alliance

For families, one of St. Pete’s biggest strengths is that the art here feels approachable and interactive for artists old and young. FloridaRAMA is the clearest example, offering a playful, explorable immersive art space built with more than 75 artists and layered with a scavenger-hunt-style narrative. At The Dalí, recurring family programming includes the Little Surrealist Tour and Sensory-Friendly Sundays for kids who prefer a lower stimulating tour. The Museum of Fine Arts has built out its own strong family program too, from Sensory Saturdays to Museum Minis and free hands-on Studio Saturdays. Beyond the museums too, St. Pete's nearly 361 days of sunshine beckons families outside, and a bike ride around the city will give kids the chance to see the many murals, the blend of old and new architecture and beautiful landscaping up close on their own time.

Where to eat and stay

SkyBeach Resort

Start with SkyBeach Resort if you want a stay that feels a little more tucked away than downtown, with a manicured private beach and wide-open bay views. Originally opened in 1954, the historic property has taken on new life after an extensive renovation, and right now the biggest draw is LUMA, its new Mediterranean restaurant, which opened in January 2026 and adds a stronger food angle to the hotel’s laid-back waterfront setting. For something right downtown with a little more glitz and glamour, look to The Vinoy for the classic St. Pete stay that's pink, polished and walkable to Beach Drive, the pier and several of the city’s best museums. The Birchwood is a good pick if you want something smaller in the middle of downtown, while Moxy St. Petersburg Downtown makes sense if you want to be close to Central Avenue with a livelier, more social energy.

Perry's Porch

With St. Pete-Clearwater now part of the MICHELIN Guide’s 2025 Florida expansion, dining feels like a bigger part of the story here than ever. At Juno & The Peacock, start with the hamachi crudo or seafood tower, then add Monica’s Cornbread or the Maryland crab cake for a lunch that feels a little indulgent in the best way. At Perry’s Porch, right on the pier, go for the charred octopus, tuna crudo or sweet corn and crab arancini and stay for the bay view. And for dinner, Elliott Aster is the splurge, with wood-fired steaks, standout pastas like squid ink lumache and the a beautifully decorated dining room that feels right out of the 1920's.

Shoppers are enamored with this patio chair, calling it "dreamy" in reviews on Target.com, appreciating its comfort and chic style. On average, the chair has earned 4.1 stars on Target.com.

"My new favorite spot for the summer. It shipped fairly quickly for residential freight. A few sections of weaving arrived busted, but luckily they are in hidden areas. The chair is super comfy and stylish. Would buy again!" wrote one fan in a four-star review on Target.com.

"I have owned this swing chair for over three years now. We get compliments on it whenever anyone sees it in our yard. We opted to hang it from our wood pergola rather than use the included metal stand. I think it’s quite comfortable especially with a small lumbar pillow. My kids love it too. It’s always the favorite spot in our back yard. My only recommendation is that it gets placed inside during rain or snow as the water gets inside the metal framework and leaks out rusty water. I’m glad we picked this swing chair and I would purchase again if I was looking for another like this," said another happy shopper in a five-star review on Target.com.

You can find this best-selling hanging egg chair exclusively on Target.com. It retails for $585.

‘Brady Bunch’ Star Never Stopped Acting After ‘70s TV Fame—‘I’ve Worked Every Year of My Life’

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 4:42am

Eve Plumb first found fame playing Jan Brady on the 1970s sitcomThe Brady Bunch, but she didn’t stop acting when the series ended. Plumb went on to become an artist and business owner, but she also continued to book acting jobs almost every single year along the way.

“I’ve worked every year of my life on one thing or another,” Plumb, 67, told Woman’s World in an interview published in March 2026. “And I think even the most famous person will tell you that it never ends. You’re always auditioning for the next job in one way or another. You’re always hoping for the next thing. … It’s a myth that at some age you can just coast.’”

Plumb’s IMDB page lists a steady stream of acting credits from the 1960s to the present. Her post-Brady Bunch credits include Little Women, The Facts of Life, Murder She Wrote, One Day at a Time, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Blue Bloods, Grease! Live, and more.

Plumb credited an early post-Brady role for forging her career path as an adult. In 1976, she played a teenage runaway and prostitute in the NBC TV movie Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway.

“I think it was probably why I continued to work as an adult actress,” she said in the 2026 interview. “I think that’s why my parents were for it, and I think it was wise. That’s why it was done. You know, ‘Let’s see Jan Brady on the streets of Hollywood.’”

The Dawn movie was so popular that Plumb appeared in a sequel, Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn, in 1977, thus passing up a singing and dancing role in the variety show, The Brady Bunch Hour, with her former Brady Bunch co-stars.

Eve Plumb was lucky to break out of her Brady role

While Plumb reposed her Brady Bunch role in the spin-off, The Brady Brides, and the successful 1988 TV movie A Very Brady Christmas, she never felt typecast as Jan.

“I haven’t faced a lot of typecasting,” she told Fox News Digital in 2023. “I’ve been fortunate enough to continue to be cast in different roles. Nobody has seemed to put me in a niche.”

More than 50 years after The Brady Bunch ended its five-season run, Plumb is a working artist and owner of the online home décor and accessories store Plumb Goods. On the acting front, she most recently voiced Big Judy in the TV series Praise Petey and she has another project, Folk, in post-production.

Plumb’s memoir, Happiness Included, will be released on April 28, 2026.

1967 Pop-Rock Anthem Became a No. 1 Hit 59 Years Ago Today

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 4:34am

On this day in 1967, The Turtles' career-defining hit song topped the top of the music charts.

The pop-rock anthem "Happy Together" soared to the top of Billboard's Hot 100 on March 25, 1967, where it remained for three consecutive weeks. It not only became The Turtles' first song to hit No. 1, but it would also end up being their only song to do so.

Written by Alan Gordon and Gary Bonner, who were not members of The Turtles, "Happy Together" was released as a single in February 1967, and was later included as the title track of their identically-titled third studio album. As it rose to the summit of the Hot 100 chart, it knocked out The Beatles' iconic track "Penny Lane" for the top spot.

"Happy Together" became The Turtles' signature song, known for its classic sunshine-pop sound, upbeat tune and mesmerizing harmonies from vocalists Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman. As the band's most enduring track, it was one of only two songs from their catalog to break the top five on the Billboard chart, in addition to with "She'd Rather Be With Me," which peaked at #3.

It was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007, and in 2025, it was ranked at #14 on Billboard's 2025 list of the 50 Best Rock Love Songs.

4 Core Traits of People Born on the 27th, Per Numerology

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 4:26am

What does it mean if you’re born on the 27th? No matter your birth month or zodiac sign, your birth date is spiritually significant. According to numerologists, each birth date aligns with the numerological properties and characteristics of one to three numbers. So, those born on the 27th align with the numerological meanings of 2, 7, and 9. Having your birthday fall on the 27th suggests you’re an intuitive, emotionally mature individual who sees the bigger picture. Read on to discover the numerological significance of 27, challenges to watch for, and four core personality traits that define you.

The Numerological Significance of Number 27

Finding the numerological significance of 27 is easier than one thinks. Begin by breaking 27 down into two single-digit numbers, 2 and 7. Then add the numbers together to get 9. The individual numerological meanings of 2, 7, and 9 come together to form 27’s unique vibration and significance.

2 is a balanced and intuitive energy that creates a harmonious, diplomatic personality. 7 is mystical and wise, since it seeks to understand the meaning of life. 9 compassionate and caring, because it understands that there’s more than what meets the eyes. Altogether, this creates the peace-seeking, humanitarian energy of 27. People who embody 27’s energy value meaningful connections above all else. They can get along with anyone, but they’re especially selective about their inner circle. Individuals who represent 27’s energy seek meaning in all aspects of their life, so they choose their partners and loved ones wisely.

People who align with 27 also work with 27’s planetary ruler, Mars. This astrological planet represents action, ambition, and passion. Mars gives these individuals a much-needed edge to assert their boundaries and finish what they’ve started. Their Martian personalities aren’t afraid to fight for what’s right or to be the hero others need. Of all crystals, they may feel drawn to Carnelian, which elevates courage, bravery, and self-assurance.

Challenges to Watch For

People born on the 27th are destined to face personal challenges relating to their diplomatic nature, heroic efforts, and kindness. Individuals with this birth date are beloved for their kind, caring nature. However, they’re also at risk of being taken advantage of. It’s not unlikely that they’re asked to intervene, since they’re gifted mediators. Despite meaning well, their diplomatic efforts and desire to help the underdog don’t always go as planned. They may accidentally put themselves in harm’s way. If they’re unharmed, then they may struggle with the task of always being expected to help others work through problems and obstacles. While this can be fulfilling, it can also be draining. These individuals must learn that they cannot always fight other’s battles or solve other’s problems to avoid unnecessary challenges.

Core Personality Traits of Those Born on the 27th1. Everyone’s Hero

Someone born on the 27th can always be counted on to save the day. People with this birth date feel like they’re destined to fight for what’s right. It might begin in childhood if they stuck up for other kids on the playground or made mature decisions that most children would avoid. As they get older, they may find themselves doing both small and immense acts of service to better their community. Some may say they’re vigilantes, others think of them as peacekeepers. Regardless, they’re here to swoop in and be the hero everyone needs.

    2. Diplomatic & Considerate

If anyone can manage a crisis, it’s someone born on the 27th. Having this birthday means having the ability to handle anything that life throws at them. They’re gifted with emotional maturity and balance, so they’re not easily swayed by a problem. Others flock to individuals with this birth date because they’re the preferred shoulder to lean on. They know how to de-escalate any situation they’re in while making others feel validated and seen. Their sensitivity to pertinent matters makes them deeply kind and caring, so they know how to handle delicate matters with ease.

      3. The Humanitarian

Nobody cares more than people born on the 27th. The numerological meanings of 2 and 9 suggest that people with this birth date are deeply sensitive. They have immense empathy for all living beings. It’s not unusual for these individuals to get involved in humanitarian work. They’re more likely to volunteer at shelters, donate to non-profit organizations, and rally for what’s right. Helping others gives them a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment, so they can always be counted on to stand for what’s right.

        4. Intuitive & Mystical

Mystics are born on the 27th. People with this birth date have an otherworldly connection with the spirit realm. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by their intuition, they often feel validated and comforted by it. These individuals know there’s something greater than what’s right in front of them thanks to their intuition. They don’t need proof to trust their inner voice, spiritual knowledge, and guidance from their spirit team. As a result, they have a grounded yet esoteric view that often comforts others searching for intuitive advice and wisdom.

8 Best Refurbished Cruise Ships to Experience Luxury for Less This Spring

          Wed, 03/25/2026 - 4:10am

For travelers who value a "perfect fit" over a "brand new" shine, there's a certain magic in finding a ship that has been seasoned by years of service but polished by a multi-million dollar investment. While the industry tends to chase the newest megaships, a fascinating new shift is proving that the "modern classics" are actually the ones winning the hearts of the most frequent cruisers.

According to recent data from Cruise Critic, nearly half of the eight most popular ships in the world right now are actually older, "amplified" vessels that have undergone significant recent glow-ups. As the experts at Cruise Critic note, these "loyal favorites" remain a "home-from-home for cruisers of all ages," largely because they provide a "wide range of comfortable cabins and enough entertainment to please everyone from the kids to grandparents" without the overwhelming scale of the newer classes.

For the savvy traveler, choosing an older, amplified or updated ship is a strategic move to enjoy the most popular features of the fleet—like the signature Royal Promenade or world-class specialty dining—with a price point that feels like a genuine steal. In a year where we're all looking for more value without sacrificing the "wow" factor, the "oldie but goodie" category is officially the smartest way to book your next escape.

Here are 8 refurbished cruise ships that still deliver incredible value:

          1. Celebrity Reflection (The #1 All-Star)

          Celebrity

It’s the second year in a row that this 2012 beauty has been ranked the most popular ship on the planet. Why? Because it just received a "minor refresh" that kept its sophisticated soul while polishing its "Retreat" suite enclave while it waits for its major Solstice class glow-up to come. It’s the gold standard for that "aged like fine wine" feel.

Related: This 2012 Cruise Ship Was Just Ranked the No. 1 Most Popular in the World

          2. Mariner of the Seas (The Royal Caribbean ‘Sweet Spot’)

Originally amplified in 2018 (to a tune of $120M) and now fresh off its March 2026 makeover, the Mariner is back in Galveston and looking better than ever. It now features those coveted private pool casitas and RFID "Wow Bands," giving you that Icon-class convenience on a much more navigable, 3,100-passenger footprint.

          3. Celebrity Solstice (The Multi-Million Glow-Up) Celebrity Solstice Upgrades include revitalized Retreat Deck

          Celebrity Solstice

If you want that brand-new "Edge-class" feel without the price tag, this is your ship. As the first of five Solstice-class ships to undergo a massive total $250 million modernization, it now features "Panoramic Infinite Veranda" suites that bring the ocean right into your room.

          4. Norwegian Spirit (The $100 Million Transformation)

This isn’t just a refurbishment; it was a total bow-to-stern reimagining. After a $100 million investment, the Spirit now feels like a boutique adult-focused hotel. It’s smaller, sleeker and perfect for the traveler who wants the NCL energy without the 5,000-person crowds. You can find her sailing unique itineraries around Asia, Australia and the South Pacific in 2026.

          5. Crystal Symphony (The Personalized Powerhouse)

Crystal is back and better than ever after its recent multi-million dollar dry dock. With a staff-to-guest ratio that is almost one-to-one and signature spaces like Casino de Monte-Carlo and Nobu’s Umi Uma, this refurbished classic offers a level of service that rivals the most expensive yachts in the world, but with the amenities of a mid-sized ship.

          6. Harmony of the Seas (The Oasis Upgrade)

          Royal Caribbean

Even the "big kids" need a spa day—and while it hasn't been refurbished yet, it's coming soon. The Harmony is entering dry dock this April to add 91 brand-new staterooms and a fully refreshed pool deck inspired by the newer Lime & Coconut tropical vibe. It’s the perfect way to do a "mega-ship" vacation with a "brand new" shine.

Related: Royal Caribbean Is Giving Three Fan-Favorite Ships a Top-to-Bottom Makeover in 2026

          7. Majestic Princess (The Refined Refresh)

During its 2025 dry dock, the Majestic has added fan-favorites like O’Malley’s Irish Pub and the upscale Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria. It’s a masterclass in how a ship can stay "classic" while adding the modern dining concepts that today's foodies crave.

Related: A Popular Cruise Line Is Launching a Major New ‘Coolcation’ Series for 2027

          8. Independence of the Seas (The ‘Indy’ Icon)

          Royal Caribbean

Affectionately known as "Indy," this ship remains a firm favorite because its "Royal Amplified" upgrades—like the Sky Pad and the Perfect Storm waterslides—continue to feel cutting-edge. It proves that a great layout and a smart refurbishment can keep a ship in the top 3 for decades.

Keeping all of your craft and DIY supplies organized can definitely be a bit of a feat. From pens and markers to paint brushes, rulers, beads, screws, and washi tape, there’s no shortage of tiny tools that seem to multiply the moment you sit down to create. One minute your workspace is clear, and the next it’s covered in glitter, buttons, and half-used glue sticks with nowhere to go. For anyone who loves crafting, sewing, jewelry-making, or even small home projects, the real struggle isn’t inspiration — it’s storage.

Right now, Amazon has the Craftsman 30-Compartment Storage Organizer for just $17, marked down 40% from its original $28 price tag. Compact but surprisingly roomy, it’s designed to neatly corral all those small-but-essential items that tend to clutter drawers and countertops.

Made from heavy-duty plastic, it’s sturdy enough to handle everything from beads and bobbins to screws and spare batteries, while the clear design lets you instantly spot what you need mid-project. Even better, it can be mounted on the wall to free up valuable desk space or stacked with additional units to create a custom storage wall that grows with your hobbies.

DIY enthusiasts love that these mini drawers help everything stay “clean, organized, and in one place.” One shopper shared, “The little drawers actually hold a lot, and they're made not to fall out and spill the contents when opened all the way,” highlighting how thoughtfully designed they are for everyday use.

United is Turning Economy Seats Into a Bed and We’re Obsessed

          Wed, 03/25/2026 - 3:25am

And now, for some why didn't anyone think of this before? news, the upgrade of the decade has just been announced for anyone who has ever tried to survive a 10-hour flight in a middle seat. In a move that feels like a total game-changer for international travel, United Airlines just announced the United Relax Row—a dedicated section of economy seats that transform into a flat, couch-like bed.

If you’ve ever looked longingly at the lie-flat pods in Polaris while walking back to row 42, this is officially the smart-splurge solution we’ve been waiting for.

"Customers traveling in United Economy on long-haul flights deserve an option for more space and comfort, and this is one way we can deliver that for them," said Andrew Nocella, United's Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer said in a statement.

The concept is brilliant in its simplicity: a row of three economy seats outfitted with special leg rests that flip up at a 90-degree angle. Once they’re up, they meet the seat cushion to create a continuous, mattress-like surface. It’s essentially a "couch in the sky" where you can actually stretch out, nap or—if you’re traveling with kids—create a safe little play zone.

United is the first North American carrier to offer this (they actually secured the exclusive rights to the design), and they aren't skimping on the amenities to go with it. When you book a Relax Row, you get:

          • A custom-fitted mattress pad
          • Specially sized "couch" blankets and extra pillows
          • A Children’s Travel Kit (featuring a very cute Sesame Street collaboration)
          • A plush toy for the little ones

          Who Is This For?

As someone who's mastered the art of Premium Economy perks on a Basic Economy budget, I see this as the ultimate hack for three types of travelers:

          1. The Cuddly Couple: You can book the full row of three and basically have a private lounge for two.
          2. The Solo Splurger: If you want a bed but don't want to drop $5,000 on a Business Class ticket, booking a Relax Row is the ultimate clever upgrade.
          3. The Family Survivalist: If you’re traveling with a toddler, having a flat surface means they can actually sleep, which means you might actually get to watch a movie.
When Can We Book—and How Much Is It?

While I wish I could use this for my trip to Disneyland Paris this week, we’ll have to wait just a little longer. The United Relax Row is slated to launch in 2027.

United plans to roll this out on more than 200 of their widebody "dream" planes (the Boeing 787 and 777) by 2030. You’ll find these special rows tucked right between the standard Economy cabin and United Premium Plus, with about 12 sections available per plane.

So, the big question: How much is this "couch in the sky" going to cost? While United hasn't released a specific price list just yet, they are positioning the Relax Row as a bridge between standard Economy and Premium Plus. Industry insiders expect it to function similarly to the "Skycouch" model used by Air New Zealand, where you typically pay a discounted fee to "buy out" the remaining seats in your row.

It probably won't be as pricey as a $5,000 Polaris pod, but it will definitely be a step up from a standard seat selection fee—making it the ultimate strategic upgrade for travelers who want to sleep like a pro without the first-class bill.

          The Bottom Line

This follows a major trend we're seeing in 2026: airlines are finally realizing that economy travelers value comfort just as much as the folks in first class. Between this and Jet Blue's more 'affordable' first class, it’s a very good year to be a savvy traveler who knows how to spot a high-value upgrade.

It's finally the time you've been waiting for: beach season. If your source of happiness is suntanning by the closest ocean, then it's likely that you're willing to invest in some useful beach items. Aside from a beach towel, sunscreen, and, of course, a cute bathing suit, you'll want to grace your lower back with a beach chair for some extra comfort. While most outdoor chairs can cost a pretty penny, we found some from Walmart that are actually affordable.

The GVDV Backpack Beach Chair Set, which includes two folding chairs, is up to 47% off right now. The set initially cost $180, but has been reduced to as low as $96 in the blue colorway. You can also shop for it in blue and red or rainbow stripes. If you prefer to purchase just one chair, it's available in blue and is currently on sale for $70. Each chair can support up to 350 pounds and weighs only 9.9 pounds, so it's fairly easy to carry, especially using the built-in backpack straps.

The chairs are made of fabric with an alloy steel frame, and feature four tilted positions that allow you to lean, lie fully flat (up to 180 degrees), or fully upright (95 degrees). The design features two storage pockets — one closed for small miscellaneous items like your phone, and the other is open for your cool beverage. There's even a foldable towel bar located on the back so that your damp towels dry in the hot sun and off the sand.

For those worried about long-term comfort, just know that the chairs have a head pillow, padded backstraps to transfer the chairs hands-free, and armrests that you can adjust for your convenience. This "perfect" chair set is marked as a bestseller and is currently marked down with a Walmart flash deal. It's already in over 25 customer carts, so you'll want to jump on this sale quickly before the stock disappears.

They added that the chairs are "incredibly portable and lightweight, making it easy to carry to the beach, campsite, or park." Plus, since the furniture reclines, you can soak up the sun and relax automatically.
