1935 Boris Karloff Film Ranked Among ‘Best Horror Movies of All Time’

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:49am

Rotten Tomatoes recently ranked “The 200 Best Horror Movies of All Time.” Topping the list was a 2020 movie, His House, which is about a refugee couple making a harrowing escape from their home and adjusting to life in a new town. A few more recent films appear on the list, including the award-winning Sinners and Get Out. However, there’s one older film that has made the top 10, Bride of Frankenstein.

The 1935 film, which is a sequel to the 1931 Frankenstein, has a 98% critic score. It stars Boris Karloff, who was known as a horror icon. He played the role of Frankenstein’s monster in the original film, then reprised it for this sequel. He also played Imhotep in The Mummy, which was released in 1932, and appeared in additional horror films like The Body Snatcher, The Black Cat, Black Sabbath, and Targets. He also voiced the Grinch and the narrator in the 1966 animated special, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Ultimately, he was awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. One was for Motion Pictures and the other was for Television.

Karloff died on February 2, 1969 when he was in his eighties. Bloody Disgusting, which covers the best horror movies and news, described him as nothing like his characters. “Though his roles onscreen were primarily villains and monsters, Karloff was a man of great gentleness, a lover of cricket, gardening, animals, and children,” Brian Keiper said. “He was a man with an innate sense of justice who championed the downtrodden. He was known to travel far on many occasions to play Santa Claus for disabled children in hospitals. He was personally very generous, but never public about his giving. By all accounts, he was a true gentleman and could not have been further from the monstrous roles he played.”

Bride of Frankenstein was one of Karloff's most famous roles. He acted alongside Elsa Lanchester, Colin Clive, and Valerie Hobson in the film, which was inspired by Mary Shelley's classic novel.

As one reviewer stated, “Chock full of stunning black and white photography, groundbreaking make-up and special effects, and mad dark comedy, classic horror doesn’t get much better than Bride of Frankenstein.” Another said, “It is no surprise that Bride of Frankenstein is heralded as one of Hollywood's best-ever sequels: it does everything a good sequel should.”

There have been many other Frankenstein adaptations since this film’s release, including the 2025 film by Guillermo del Toro, which won multiple Academy Awards for best makeup and hairstyling, costume design, and production design. The Bride! was also recently released, which stars Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale. However, the reviews were not nearly as favorable with a critic score of 58%.

Gordon Ramsay's Net Worth in 2026 Makes Him a Truly 'Next Level Chef'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:30am

Gordon Ramsay's net worth in 2026 is the result of good business acumen as much as a great beef Wellington recipe.

The famously foul-mouthed chef has cooked up a fortune over the last three decades, first as one of the UK's most celebrated restaurateurs, then as one of TV's most beloved curmudgeons (with a heart of gold underneath all those curse words).

Ramsay credits his work ethic for his success, and he has no plans to slow down anytime soon.

"When I started this career, it was nothing to do with money—it was passion and the drive to be the best," he told The New York Times. "The longevity comes down to not taking anything for granted."

Ramsay especially does not take his health for granted. The MasterChef star revealed in August 2025 that he underwent surgery to remove skin cancer. In an Instagram post, he shared that he'd been treated for basal cell carcinoma and thanked the medical team who removed it. Alongside a photo of his surgery scar, he issued a PSA, writing, "Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend."

Fortunately, he'll have no problem buying more sunscreen and paying his medical bills. Keep reading to find out Ramsay's astonishing net worth and the ingredients of his success.

How did Gordon Ramsay become famous?

Ramsay was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, and grew up dreaming of being a professional soccer player (or as he and other Brits would call it, a "footballer"), though he started cooking as a hobby in his teens. A career-ending injury dashed those dreams but drew his attention to a new passion: hospitality.

Ramsay went back to school to study hotel management and further developed his love of cooking. He trained under London chefs Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White, then in France with Joël Robuchon and Guy Savoy.

After a year-long sabbatical in which he cooked on a yacht in Bermuda, he returned to London in 1993 and became head chef (with a 10% ownership share) of the Rossmore, which was later renamed Aubergine. He stayed until July 1998, when he left to start his own eatery, a move that caused a massive staff walkout, according to The New York Times.

Later that year, Ramsay opened his eponymous eatery, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, in London's Chelsea neighborhood.

In 1999, he became the subject of the documentary Boiling Point, followed by its sequel, Beyond Boiling Point, a year later. The original UK versions of Kitchen Nightmares (titled Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares)and Hell's Kitchen eachpremiered in 2004.

In 2005, Ramsay became a full-fledged star stateside with the Fox adaptation of Hell's Kitchen. Two years later, the American Kitchen Nightmares premiered on Fox, further cementing Ramsay's role as one of the world's best and most cantankerous cooks—and one of the world's wealthiest chefs.

Just make sure you don't call him a "TV chef."

"I'm not a TV chef," he told The New York Times. "I'm a serious chef, and I happen to work on TV."

Initially planned as a venture to open 100 restaurants in the United States by 2024, the COVID-19 pandemic bumped the number down to 75 by 2026.

‘Summer House' Star Announces Run for Congress: “Reality TV Is Drama for Show—D.C. Is Real Drama"

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:24am

Luke Gulbranson, who starred on Bravo's Summer House in seasons 4 through 6, has announced he is running for Congress.

Gulbranson, who is also an actor appearing in series like The Flight Attendant and Love... Reconsidered, threw his hat into the ring, citing chaos from the current administration and his desire to return power to the people.

"Costs are up—we feel it at the pump and the checkout line. Health care is under attack, forcing families to choose between paying bills and affording prescriptions," he captioned an emotional Instagram video. "Unions are being targeted, like in St. Louis County where this administration is threatening to cut funding if we ensure fair wages for union workers. And in northern Minnesota, two mines are down, leaving 600 people out of work, all while the President uses foreign steel for his own projects. It’s time for Congress to work for the people again—not special interests, not party politics, and not the President."

Gulbranson is running in Minnesota’s 8th District, explaining in his video that he understands the struggles of everyday Americans. "I didn't grow up with much," he said. "I know what it's like to get the power turned off a few times. To need food assistance, or go hungry. To need Medicaid, or you couldn't see a doctor."

View this post on Instagram

Hockey was his passion, often giving Gulbranson that relief from tough times, adding, "Because life has a funny way of closing one door and opening another," he said. Gulbranson flicked at his time on Summer House, sharing, "Yeah, I've been on reality TV, but that's drama for show. What's happening in D.C., is real drama."

Gulbranson shared on his campaign website: "I’m running for Congress to help the family doing math at the kitchen table and coming up short, to protect the land, the water, and the hardworking people who deserve better, to give more opportunities to the kid skating on the outdoor rink until the lights go out."

Your Past Life Karma, Based on Your Birth Date

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:11am

Whatever you did or didn’t do in a past life will affect your soul for lifetimes to come. This is known as past life karma, which is the spiritual energy your soul carries from lifetime to lifetime. Past life karma can be a multitude of things, such as spiritual lessons your soul has yet to integrate or patterns your soul ought to acknowledge. It’s neither inherently negative nor positive. Past life karma typically corresponds with the habits, traits, and actions that ought to be addressed. Everyone’s past life karma is different, so it can be challenging to identify what yours is. Although there’s no “one size fits all”, you can still use your birth date to find your past life karma

According to spiritual experts and numerologists, your past life karma is based on your birth date. The strengths and weaknesses of your birth date speak to the karmic lessons that your soul is tasked to acknowledge and overcome in every lifetime. Learning the past life karma of your birth date can help your soul become spiritually stronger and more self-aware. Read on to discover the past life karma, based on your birth date.

Born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, or 28th

Those born on the 1st, 10th, 19th, and 28th are destined to find comfort in their independence. Individuals born on these dates align with numerology’s 1, which is a self-lead and self-concerned energy. Some may struggle with being selfish in past lives, especially if they couldn’t balance their needs with what others expected from them. As lifetimes have passed, these individuals have learned to listen to their inner voice and trust themselves. Their souls will overcome any fear of being alone and paving their own way. After several lifetimes of karmic lessons, people born on these dates eventually find peace in their sovereignty.

Born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th

Finding solace in one’s intuition won’t be easy for those born on the 2nd, 11th, 20th, or 29th. People with these birth dates align with numerology’s 2, which is a sensitive, lunar-ruled energy. Embracing 2’s energy isn’t easy, because it carries immense emotional weight and psychic abilities. Those born on these dates spend a few lifetimes struggling with the gravity of having divine knowledge. They would have dealt with loneliness since being intuitive could have led to dire consequences. Luckily, they will eventually learn to build a strong inner fortitude to trust their intuition without fear when they address their past life karma.

RELATE?: What Your Family Loves Most About You, Based on Your Birth Date

Born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, or 30th

Curiosity may have led those born on the 3rd, 12th, 21st, and 30th astray in a past life. Having one of these birth dates means they align with 3, which is a smart and inquisitive number. Carrying 3’s numerological energy throughout lifetimes means learning to find balance with one’s intelligence. Some lifetimes may have shown that sharing intel with the wrong person or at the wrong time had consequences. There might have been karmic lessons surrounding school, research, and knowledge. Hopefully, these individuals will feel more self-assured in their wit, honor their educational pursuits in this lifetime, and learn that their voice is powerful.

Born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, or 31st

Easy does it for those born on the 4th, 13th, 22nd, and 31st. Individuals born on these dates resonate with 4 in numerology, which is known for being practical, responsible, and consistent despite being ruled by Uranus, the astrological planet of disruption. Embodying this paradoxical energy as past life karma is difficult. Some could have spent lifetimes being wacky and unreliable, so they will have to find comfort in stability. Others could struggle with being overly rigid, so they will learn to lean into spontaneity. Regardless, people with these birth dates have to strike a balance between playing it safe and shaking things up.

FURTHER: Where You Should Retire, Based on Your Birth Date

Born on the 5th, 14th, or 23rd

People born on the 5th, 14th, and 23rd are known for their mutability. Their ever-changing spirit follows them in every life thanks to being ruled by 5 in numerology. Numerology says that 5 is adaptable and quick, so it bestows flexibility. Although this is a pro, it can also result in dealing with anxiety, restlessness, and instability. These individuals may have spent many lives uprooted. Even if there was steadiness, they may have sabotaged it out of fear of being stuck or complacent. Their past life karma encourages them to find peace in navigating periods of change and finding comfort in stillness.

Born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th

Holding space for others isn’t easy for those born on the 6th, 15th, or 24th. These birth dates align with 6 in numerology, so these individuals are known for being family-oriented and relationship-focused. Despite wanting an equal partnership, they struggle with finding their place in their communities and commitments throughout lifetimes. Their past life karma isn’t solitary, since their spiritual journeys are intertwined with other soul ties. They may have twin flames, soul mates, and soul families to navigate. Regardless, they have to learn how to assert healthy boundaries in their connections and find the confidence to walk away in search of something better.

EXPLORE: Which Kitten Breed Matches You, Based on Birth Month

Born on the 7th, 16th, or 25th

Being present doesn’t come naturally to those born on the 7th, 16th, and 25th. People with these birth dates resonate with 7 in numerology. These individuals don’t settle for superficial and shallow explanations in any lifetime. It’s not unrealistic that they may go many lives searching for something otherworldly, like a divine connection with the spirit realm or a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While their commitment to depth is admirable, their souls may feel unfulfilled. Their past life karma is learning to appreciate their lives as is. Once they’re able to be present and to accept their soul’s journey, then they will find true meaning.

Born on the 8th, 17th, or 26th

Soul lessons concerning money will follow those born on the 8th, 7th, and 26th. These birth dates embody the numerological energy of 8, so people born on these dates are concerned with balancing their abundance and success. Individuals with these birth dates may have gone lifetimes living in either extreme wealth or poverty. Regardless of their status in past lives, they would have revisited lessons regarding generosity and reciprocity. Hopefully, they will use their current lifetime to learn to share their abundance, no matter how much or how little they have. By doing so, they can reap the rewards of integrating their past life karma.

READ: Which Bird Mirrors Your Soul, Based on Birth Month

Born on the 9th, 18th, or 27th

Helping others gives those born on the 9th, 18th, and 27th immense fulfillment. Their birth dates align with numerology’s 9, which is a humanitarian number. No matter their position or status, these individuals are helpers in every lifetime. Although admirable, people with these birth dates must learn to take care of themselves before taking care of others. Their past life karma says that they cannot pour from an empty heart despite meaning well. They will have to learn to be a bit selfish, so that they can help without overextending themselves. Prioritizing themselves may seem counter-productive, but it will actually enhance their compassion and empathy.

The Secret List of Brooklyn Dodgers Teammates Who Wanted Jackie Robinson Gone in 1947: The Loneliest Bench in Brooklyn

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:01am

Walk into any stadium in the country on April 15 (Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium, it doesn't matter) and you’ll see something that only happens once a year. The date marks the anniversary of the moment Jackie Robinson officially broke the color barrier in 1947, a Tuesday in Brooklyn that forever changed American sports. In a collective tribute, all on-field personnel don Jackie Robinson's legendary Number 42 in Dodger Blue, complete with matching socks and commemorative cap patches.

In the stands, fans are doing it too. For nine innings, the sport looks like an army of one. While the league celebrates a hero, the names of the men who tried to stop him before he even saw a pitch have been forgotten.

Long before the first game at Ebbets Field, a group of Brooklyn Dodgers was busy passing around a piece of paper: a petition.

Led by Dixie Walker, then a fan favorite nicknamed "The People’s Cherish", a clique of Southern players, including Hugh Casey, Carl Furillo, and Bobby Bragan, decided they wouldn't take the field with Robinson. Walker threatened to quit, demanding a trade rather than sharing a dugout with a Black man. Dodgers manager Leo Durocher quickly put a stop to it, “I told them what they could do with their petition, and I don’t think I got much back talk on it,” Durocher recalled. “I told the players that Robinson was going to open the season with us come hell or high water, and if they didn’t like it they could leave now and we’d trade them or get rid of them some other way. Nobody moved.”

While movies like 42 give us heartwarming scenes of teammates eventually coming around, the reality was a cold war. These men turned the clubhouse into a silent vault where Robinson was the only one without the combination.

Pop culture has told the story for decades . Chadwick Bosemans Jackie found his way into the hearts of his peers, with the famed hand on the shoulder from Pee Wee Reese. But the names on that petition rarely get the spotlight today.

But the most unsettling pop culture trivia is the 1950 film The Jackie Robinson Story, where Robinson played himself. The baseball legend went to a movie set three years later and acted out the insults and threats from men who were still his colleagues.

It took another player to force the issue. Ken Griffey Jr., the 90s baseball icon with the backwards cap and his own Nintendo game, first broke the rules to wear the number for the 50th anniversary in 1997. Ten years later, he called the Commissioner to ask for permission again, even checking in with Jackie’s widow, Rachel Robinson, to make sure it was okay. What started as one player's personal tribute snowballed so fast that by 2009, the league turned it into a dress code.

The 1947 Dodgers roster eventually moved on. Walker got his trade to Pittsburgh. Ebbets Field was torn down for apartments. But the list of names on that petition remains a permanent part of the box score. On April 15, number 42 belongs to everyone: no one is allowed to wear it for the other 161 games of the year. The league retired the jersey and coordinated the tribute, the math of the 1947 clubhouse remains. It was a room divided, some waiting for Robinson to fail, the others watching him change the world.

The jersey is the tribute and the petition was the reality. Both are still hanging over the game today.

‘The Pitt’ Star Shabana Azeez Breaks Down Javadi’s 'Messy' Season 2: 'It Feels Like Cracking and Breaking Down' (Exclusive)

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 9:00am

Season 2 of The Pitt, which comes to a conclusion this Thursday, has seen some of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center's finest in a wildly different spot than when we first met them. Whitaker (Gerran Howell) went from a seemingly meek man in constant need of a change of scrubs to one of the most revered young doctors in the ED. The usually chipper Mel (Taylor Dearden) had a terrible, horrible, no-good, very-bad shift when she both faced a deposition and found out her sister had a relationship she didn't know about.

But perhaps the biggest transformation between seasons goes to Victoria Javadi (Shabeena Azeez). The medical student prodigy continues to find her voice in Season 2 of the Emmy-winning drama, as she searches for what field of medicine she wants to go into, amidst heavy pressure in one direction from her mother, Dr. Shamsi (Deepti Gupta). But while she seeks an identity in the hospital, she has firmly found one online as "Dr. J," a TikTok account specializing in giving medical advice.

And, in talking with Parade, Azeez reveals how elated she was when she found out about Javadi becoming an online celebrity.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

"Oh, I loved it," the 29-year-old says in an exclusive interview. "I think the TikTok element and the opportunity to explore gendered biases towards young women and people's assumptions. It's, I think, a really great opportunity, especially because we're releasing episodes once a week, for audiences to sit with their biases and their assumptions about her and assumptions about young women and social media. I was really excited about that."

Azeez would be the first to admit that Javadi is hardly the smoothest from a social-awareness perspective. But in a journey fitting for someone working at a teaching hospital, Season 2 has shown plenty of learning experiences that help Javadi develop a better bedside manner.

"She has all the tools to become a really great, socially aware physician," Azeez comments. "Social skills are so important for doctors. Particularly taking history is a really difficult thing. You have to figure out how to make somebody comfortable enough with them that they give them their personal lives, like their medical history and their family's medical history. Because so much of what is taking an effective history is having people talk about things that seem unrelated. 'Oh, you've got stomach pain. Let's talk about your shoulder.'

"Like Whitaker says to Ogilvie, it could be anything. You just don't know what is going to be the underlying cause. And there's so much work to be done. There's so much social stuff that goes into being a good doctor. But I think, with Ogilvie, we see her thrive socially. And so I think we're seeing her really come into her own."

Related: ‘The Pitt’ Star Lucas Iverson Reacts to Intense Fan Backlash: ‘I’ve Been Surprised — in a Great Way’ (Exclusive)

Speaking of Ogilvie (Lucas Iverson), the cocky fourth-year student immediately went toe-to-toe with Javadi during his first day at the PTMC. A competition soon emerged between the two of who had the most medical knowledge. But they went from competitors to collaborators during one particular case halfway through the season, cooling their heated rivalry.

"I think that at the start of it, he's insufferable," Azeez laughs. "But then it's like a relief. It's a relief to be able to not be perfect, to be able to be messy and icky. Because with Santos, you see her with everybody else be really held. When somebody says, and she disagrees, she just sort of ignores it. But Ogilvie is so annoying that it really gives her freedom to be all the icky versions of herself.

"But then, I think there's also this element of how socially inept Javadi is in the context of a hospital, she's really adept with other students, because she understands that dynamic. So she's not a gunner. She never talks over Ogilvie. In fact, when they finally work together for his patient who goes up to the OR, she's helping him. He never really gives that kindness back to her. He's just always a thorn in her side. But she knows, when push comes to shove, 'This person is in a really dire situation, and I'm just going to help Ogilvvie. There's no time for that dynamic. Let me be here for him.' Because that's something she understands."

One of Javadi's most profound cases in Season 2 involves Roxie Hamler (Brittany Allen), a cancer patient who comes to the ED after a nasty fall. As her condition worsens, knowing her time is up, she says an emotional goodbye to her husband and kids before eventually passing. Javadi is moved to tears in the room by the experience.

"You talk about people's kids' first experiences with death and with grief. And I think that Victoria saw a lot of death during the mass casualty, but it was so big and it was so collective," Azeez explains. "This is her bonding with Roxie and seeing Roxy's kids and knowing their names, and then her passing anyway. Especially after she's just almost lost a patient because of her own inability to figure out how the analog system works. It's really a way of experiencing grief that I think very few people will ever have to do."

"And she really does fail with Roxy," she continues. "Crying in the room with the family present is so unprofessional. It's something she needs to get a hold of. She needs to be able to compartmentalize. She needs to be able to hold her emotions in, as unhealthy as that sounds and is."

It probably doesn't help, of course, that Victoria has her own issues with her mother, who likes to drop in every so often to pressure her in more ways than one to follow her into sugery.

"I think she's trying to understand her mom so much," Azeez explains. "But her mom just wants her to succeed. It doesn't feel like her mom's really invested in her emotionally. She's invested professionally, invested in her success. It's a way of showing love, right? 'I want you to be the best version of yourself. I want you to succeed. I want to set you up for life. I want you to be okay.' That's very different to being like, 'I see you, and I want to see you and I'm invested in knowing who you are.'

"I think she's desperate for that from her mom. She's probably never going to get it."

The fate of many cast members on The Pitt are left in the air going into Season 3, with the shocking departure of Supriya Ganesh's Dr. Mohan showing that nobody's stay at the PTMC is guaranteed. But, regardless of where Javadi finds herself next time we see her, Azeez is excited for more maturation — and mess.

"She is, for me, The Pitt's coming of age story," she says. "The youngest one, she knows so little and she knows so much. She's so strange. She's so isolated. She's so unlike anybody else, but she definitely wants to be like everybody else, and she's finding herself. She doesn't know who she is in these really fundamental ways. And so I think I really like how messy that coming-of-age story will be.

"Season 2 doesn't feel like growth. I think it feels sort of like a cracking and a breaking down, a sort of excavation of who she is at her worst. But that is growth. And I hope that just continues to be that messy, that complex, because I want med students to be able to tune in on their worst day of med school and feel that like they can keep going after seeing Victoria."

Martha Stewart To Be Played By Two-Time Oscar Winner Cate Blanchett in Upcoming Biopic

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:59am

Given Martha Stewart's famously distinct personality, it's safe to assume it would take a truly remarkable actor to embody the role of the famed TV personality.

Fortunately, according to Variety, Stewart has seemingly found the perfect on-screen actor to help bring her personality to the big screen, as seen through the recent casting of Cate Blanchett as the celebrated 84-year-old icon.

As per Variety, Blanchett is set to star as Stewart in an upcoming biopic reportedly titled Good Thing about the TV personality's life and career. Filmmaker Janicza Bravo, best known for 2020's critically acclaimed film Zola, has also been confirmed to direct the project.

Blanchett's involvement in the film comes after weeks of speculation, with Stewart herself previously weighing in on the two-time Oscar winner's participation in the movie.

“I think there’s something in the works with Cate Blanchett," Stewart teased in the past.

With Blanchett's official casting in the movie, Good Thing is shaping up to be one of the more exciting biopics currently slated for release. As of yet, there's no confirmed release date set for the movie.

In the past, Blanchett has earned considerable renown for her acting capabilities across a wide array of genres, including comedy, drama and biographical pieces.

Most famously, the 56-year-old Blanchett won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004's The Aviator, in which she portrayed Golden Age of Hollywood legend Katharine Hepburn. She went on to win her second Oscar for Best Actress in 2013's Blue Jasmine.

In addition to her two Academy awards, Blanchett has earned various other prestigious accolades since her career began in 1990. This includes four Golden Globe Awards, four British Academy Film Awards, three Actor Awards and several nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award, Tony Award and Laurence Olivier Award, among many others.

36 Years Ago, an Actress Named One of the ‘Greatest Female Stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema’ Died

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:52am

Greta Garbo was a silent film star during the golden era of Hollywood. She was ranked No. 5 on the American Film Institute’s list of the “Greatest Female Stars of Classic Hollywood Cinema” and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress three times.

Garbo was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1905. She started her acting career in The Saga of Gösta Berling, a 1924 Swedish film that drew the attention of the chief executive of MGM. She ended up moving to Hollywood in 1925 and starred in her first American film, Torrent, then went on to act in other silent films like Flesh and the Devil, A Woman of Affairs, The Mysterious Lady, The Single Standard, and The Kiss.

In 1930, Garbo appeared in her first film with sound, Anna Christie, about a young woman who reunites with her estranged father and falls for a sailor, but struggles to tell them about her dark past. It was advertised with the tagline, “Garbo talks!” This film, along with Romance, which released the same year, earned her two nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Garbo appeared in more films throughout her career, including Grand Hotel, Queen Christina, Anna Karenina, and Camille. However, in 1941, when she was only 36, she retired from acting and stopped making public appearances. She later told Sven Broman, a Swedish biographer, "I was tired of Hollywood. I did not like my work. There were many days when I had to force myself to go to the studio ... I really wanted to live another life.”

Although she might not have wanted public attention, many viewers are still fans of her work to this day. As one comment on Reddit said, “She was one of the biggest stars for a few years in the late 20s early 30s, and was a great actor. And how she disappeared herself from Hollywood and lived the rest of her life in seclusion from the public is fascinating. My favorite film of hers is Flesh and the Devil. Gilbert and her were HOT.”

Another said, “She was gorgeous, talented, captivating, and mysterious. Her legend lingers 100 years after her debut. Even Bette Davis said she was the greatest there ever was. That’s huge praise from someone who was notoriously critical of her peers.”

Garbo died on April 15, 1990 when she was 84 due to pneumonia and renal failure.

Next-Level Spouse: Get to Know Gordon Ramsay's Wife, Tana Ramsay

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:30am

Gordon Ramsay's wife, Tana Ramsay, has been by the Hell's Kitchenhost's side for nearly three decades. During that time, the couple has had six children, and Tana has experienced countless tantrums (from both Gordon and the kids), though she says Gordon's tantrums are all in good fun.

In fact, she says her hilariously hot-tempered husband is actually a big softie underneath all of his bravado and belligerence in the kitchen (which anyone who's watched Master Chef Junioror the second half of any episode of Kitchen Nightmares could tell you).

"Gordon just loves winding people up. Absolutely loves it," Tana told The Telegraph in 2016. "You have to understand him to know what he’s like, and I understand him absolutely."

No doubt Gordon's had all the support in the world from Tana during his recent health scare. The Hell's Kitchen star revealed in August 2025 that he underwent surgery to remove skin cancer. He shared in an Instagram post that he'd been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma and praised the doctors who removed it. "Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend," he advised his fans in the caption, alongside a pic of his surgery scar.

While Gordon continues to heal, let's get to know the woman who won his heart.

How did Gordon Ramsay and his wife meet?

When Gordon first met Tana, she was in a relationship with someone else...and she absolutely couldn't stand Gordon.

She told The Guardianthat when she met Gordon for the first time at a New Year's Eve party, she thought he was a "complete arrogant arse." It wasn't until she met him again by chance years later that she softened her opinion enough to go out with him.

The Ramsays tied the knot on Dec. 21, 1996. On their 25th anniversary in 2021, Tana showed off how well she still fits into her wedding dress, despite being married to one of the best chefs on the planet.

On their 27th anniversary, Gordon gushed that Tana is an "amazing woman, wife, mother." Cute!

What does Gordon Ramsay's wife do?

Tana is a former Montessori school teacher, worked as a food editor for Grazia magazine and even owned a salon from 2011 to 2023. She's also the author of multiple cookbooks, including Tana Ramsay's Family Kitchen, Tana's Kitchen Secrets and I Love to Bake.

She told the Toronto City Newsthat she and Gordon's style in the kitchen couldn't be more different, but that when they're home with their family, he prefers her cooking to his.

She explained, "I've never been trained as a chef. I take forever to chop an onion or a carrot compared to [Gordon], but it's my way of real family food. Our dishes are completely different, and it's the home cooking he wants when he's at home."

Did Gordon Ramsay's wife have a baby? View this post on Instagram

On Nov. 11, 2023, Gordon announced that he and Tana welcomed a baby boy named Jesse to their family, and the Master Chef star said it would be their last, writing, "3 boys, 3 girls...DONE."

But the Ramsay family might have room for a seventh child after all. During a May 2025 appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Gordon revealed that his wife has hopes for baby No. 7.

“So you took like a break in the middle, so you were like overwhelmed, and then, just when things calm down, you were like, ‘Let’s do it again,'” Kelly Ripa joked to Ramsay, who then pointed to his wife, saying, “Tana wants one more! Number seven!”

Tana told Peoplethat fatherhood has definitely softened the famously foul-mouthed chef, at least at home.

"We go long periods of time when we don’t have all the kids home, and then when we are all together having dinner, Gordon will say, ‘It’s really nice to have everyone here.’ And they’re like, ‘Oh God, watch out! He’s going to cry!’" Tana said.

Does Gordon Ramsay live with his wife?

Tana and Gordon live together in London but also have a home base in Los Angeles for when Gordon is filming. When Gordon has to travel for work, he makes it very clear that he misses his wife: She's said he's known to call her "about 25 times a day" when they're apart.

"When it comes to our busy schedules, people say, ‘It must be hard having to be apart so often,’" she told People. "It is, but I feel really lucky that I still get butterflies when we haven’t seen each other for a few weeks. I never want to take that for granted—even with all these kids to worry about. We have a lot of fun." Awww!

The series features a contemporary romantic comedy trilogy that immerses readers in the fantasy of moving to a charming small town and starting over.

“Just One More Chapter coming your way in March 2027! Story Lake 3 brings the laughs and the feels to wrap up the series,” the caption reads alongside the photo of the manuscript, suggesting that the trilogy is all set.

The comment section was filled with reactions from readers who couldn't wait for the novel’s official release.

“I am going to miss these babies so much. CANNOT WAIT!!” a follower remarked.

The same goes for another who said, “Lucy, you have no idea how ready I am for this book. TAKE ME BACK TO STORY LAKE!!!! So ready for Levi’s story!!! Love the title.”

Moreover, others shared their excitement about returning to Story Lake, especially to revisit their favorite characters and see how their stories unfold in the final installment.

While the majority are thrilled with Score’s announcement, some were saddened as this means the end of the trilogy.

“SO EXCITED but also never want it to end,” a reader commented.

“I can’t wait! I’m gonna miss Story Lake when it’s done,” a fan echoed.

As for the second book, Mistakes Were Made landed No. 1 in Romantic Comedy on Amazon's Best Sellers lists.

Things We Left Behind, the final book in the trilogy, also landed No. 1 on the New York Times bestsellers list.

Disney Princess Fans—You’ll Have a New Parade You May Want to Travel For

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:10am

If you’ve ever braved the multi-hour queue at the Princess Pavilion or refreshed your app for weeks hoping for a character dining cancellation, you know that quality time with Disney royalty is the ultimate "exclusive" travel get.

But this summer, Disney Adventure World, the newly reimagined second gate in Disneyland Paris, is shifting the experience for super-fans. Starting July 24, a brand-new experience called The Disney Princess Cavalcade is making its debut, and it’s designed to give fans a closer, more interactive look at their favorites than a standard parade ever could.

While traditional parades are built on the "wave and smile" model, this cavalcade is leaning into the "adventure" theme of the park’s massive expansion. The show features four iconic princesses—including Moana and Raya—and focuses on the stories of courage and community that define them. But the real "Golden Ticket" for fans happens during the return route.

Unlike a typical parade that just passes by, this cavalcade includes an interactive sequence where the princesses stop to teach the public specific moves rooted in their cultures. You’ll find Moana leading traditional Pacific Island-inspired dance moves, while Raya demonstrates martial arts-inspired choreography created in collaboration with renowned choreographer Cécile Chaduteau.

For core fans, this is an accessible way to see the characters in action along Adventure Way, the new avenue stretching toward future Lion-King themed area and The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge. The floats themselves are high-design nods to the films’ heritage, from the village of Motunui to the Heart Palace of Kumandra.

Even the music is a specialized treat for the ears: two original songs produced in Nashville and written by Chris Sernel (the talent behind the 30th Anniversary hit "Ready for the Ride") feature infectious energy and specific musical quotations from the Princesses’ original themes.

As show director Matteo Borghi explains, the goal was to ground these "quests" in a sense of belonging. For the Disney fan who has "seen it all," this cavalcade offers a rare chance to skip the autograph line and actually join the journey.

1982 Country Classic That Almost Wasn’t Played on the Radio

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 8:04am

A 1982 country classic nearly missed radio play over one element that was considered too controversial for the genre at the time.

Alabama reached the top of the Billboard Country Music charts in 1982 with the song "Mountain Music." However, what seemed like a bona fide country hit was thought to be not country enough.

According to The Boot, "Mountain Music" initially faced pushback from Alabama's record label. The reason? The song contained a drum solo, unheard of in country music at the time.

It took several years for band frontman Randy Owen, to write the song. It reportedly told a story of his childhood growing up in Adamsburg, Alabama.

Parade Daily🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Owen said, as reported by The Boot, "I had written this song, and I was so excited about it. I told the folks at RCA, 'I've written a song, and it's got a drum solo in it!' They were like, 'Radio'll never play that.'"

He continued that the drum solo was included so that bandmate Jeff Cook "would have time to put the guitar down and pick up the fiddle."

RELATED: 1980 Freewheeling Country Classic That Became the Ultimate Road Trip Anthem

Owen said that some of the lyrics used phrases he understood growing up in the south, but might have been difficult for those who grew up outside the area.

"I got a little trouble out of this song, too, because some of the lyrics were not discernible. 'Skinnin' cats' was an exercise that me and the other boys did on hickory trees. We'd bend 'em [the trees] over, and then we'd chin ourselves and turn ourselves inside out, because we didn't have the kind of playground equipment that you folks see today," he explained.

According to the website Musixmatch, the song "reminisces about simpler times and the joy of connecting with nature and one's roots through music. The lyrics use metaphors like climbing mountains, floating down rivers, and playing back-home music to evoke a sense of nostalgia and freedom, encouraging listeners to appreciate the beauty of the natural world and the comfort of familiar tunes."

Alabama won the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal Grammy for "Mountain Music" at the 25th Grammy Awards in 1983 and Favorite Country Group at the American Music Awards. According to the band's official website, the group has sold 73 million albums, is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Sandra Bullock Stuns in Bold Red Blazer and Bra During Very Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 7:57am

For the first time since the 30th anniversary of Speed in 2024, actress Sandra Bullock stepped onto the red carpet.

With Nicole Kidman by her side, the two came together to promote their upcoming film Practical Magic 2 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Wearing a stunning red blazer revealing a black bra along with matching red pants and a chain belt, Bullock’s look comes from Gabriela Hearst’s Resort 2026 collection.

That same evening, Bullock and Nicole stepped onto CinemaCon’s stage holding hands to show their movie’s new teaser trailer.

“Why do we come here, Nicole?” Bullock asked. Kidman replied with her iconic AMC promo line, “We come to this place for magic!”

The Practical Magic sequel will reintroduce the sisters, as they continue to live their magical lives in the Owens family home. Bullock said they rebuilt the original house on the cliff and filled it with old and new characters.

“Home is what this is, and getting to return to these characters that have been so loved and so shared, it really has been magical. And being back together, it just clicked,” Kidman said.

In November 2025, National Enquirer reported that Bullock and Kidman are “closer than ever” after filming the new movie. While Kidman navigated her divorce from Keith Urban and Bullock continued to mourn the loss of her husband Bryan Randall, the stars leaned on each other.

“Sandra and Nicole are much closer now than they were almost 30 years ago when they made the first movie, and that was the whole goal of this project!” A source told National Enquirer. “This is going to keep running for the next year or so as they finish the cut of the movie and get out there to publicize it.”

Practical Magic 2 is set to release on September 18.

Ben Stiller's New 'Meet the Parents' Movie Stars This Iconic Pop Star

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 7:50am

Following her success in Wicked, pop artist and actress Ariana Grande returns for a new movie alongside Ben Stiller.

Continuing Stiller’s Meet the Parents franchise, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, Focker In-Law also stars Robert De Niro. Grande will play a character named Olivia, as Stiller returns to his role as Greg Focker. A 16-second first look at the film was released today, with a trailer debuting tomorrow.

“A young man named Henry, son of Greg and Pam Focker, faces family chaos when he decides to marry a strong-willed woman who appears to be his complete mismatch,” IMDb lists as Focker In-Law’s film description.

The first look shows Grande getting ready for a lie detector test, Stiller walking in and greeting her, and concludes with Grande answering a question during the test. Since its debut on Instagram this morning, fans have already been expressing their excitement for the new film.

“OMG I’m seriously going to die!!!! This is going to be phenomenal- exactly what we all need right now,” one user commented on an Instagram post made in collaboration with Focker In-Law, Universal Pictures and Stiller.

Even Regal Movies commented on the post: “Ariana what are you doing here? 🤩”

In November 2025, Stiller appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he praised Grande’s talent in Focker In-Law. He noted that this isn’t the first time he’s been in a movie with Grande. She made a cameo in 2016’s Zoolander 2, but Stiller said that filming Focker In-Law was the first time he had seen Grande since.

“She’s so great with comedy,” Stiller said during the interview. “She was amazing in Wicked, and she’s such a good singer, obviously, too. … I feel like she could do anything.”

'Night of the Living Dead' to Receive Unexpected Remake

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 7:46am

When looking at the overall trajectory of American film, few movies have managed to accomplish as much as George A. Romero's wildly influential horror movie, Night of the Living Dead.

Arriving in theaters in 1968, Night of the Living Dead single-handedly redefined what horror could look like in mainstream film, transforming the entire horror landscape (as well as low-budget independent filmmaking in the process).

Set against the backdrop of a global zombie apocalypse, Night of the Living Dead most famously served as the prototypal zombie movie of the modern era, influencing everything from Shaun of the Dead to the popular Resident Evil horror games in the process.

Like the titular creatures that menace the hapless human survivors in the film, it now seems that the living dead are officially set to return in an upcoming Night of the Living Dead remake set for release later this year.

As seen in a recent trailer for the film shared on YouTube, the new Night of the Living Dead acts as a modern-day retelling of the original movie. Starring Vivica A. Fox, Brittany Underwood, Richard Gabai, Dee Wallace and the late Robert Carradine, the film is likely to release later this year, although full details about the movie's release are yet to be announced.

Of course, with the original Night of the Living Dead's success back in the late 1960s, it's hardly a surprise that the franchise remains alive and well nearly six decade later.

Along with a steady supply of sequels (including the equally well-loved Dawn of the Dead), Romero's film also provided the inspiration for several remakes over the years, including a 1990 version directed by horror legend Tom Savini.

To day, however, none of these remakes have come close to rivaling the success of the original, as seen through the numerous accolades Night of the Living Dead has received in the decades since its release.
