11 Best Setting Sprays To Keep Makeup Looking Perfect Even in the Summer Heat

If you're going to go through the effort of doing a full face of makeup, you want it to last. That's where the best setting sprays come in handy.

As Michelle Radow, celebrity makeup artist and makeup department head for Fox's Baywatch, explains, "Setting spray, to me, is how I want the makeup to look when I’m done after I have powdered. I will set it with this spray. Do I want a hydrated look, a matte look, a dewy look, a glittery look, a glass look?"

There are so many options for this product in the beauty space; that's why Parade consulted her and several other makeup artists to reveal the 11 best setting sprays for every occasion and look.

If you don't currently have a setting spray in rotation for your makeup routine, it's worth adding one, says celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal, who hosts the QVC show Over 50 & Fabulous.

"They're not magic, but they can absolutely make a difference," Roncal says, adding, "I've worked with celebrities, models, television hosts and everyday women for decades, and I've seen firsthand how the right setting spray can help makeup maintain its freshness much longer than it would on its own."

She adds, "It's one of those products that, once people try it, they often wonder how they ever did their makeup without it."

Keep reading to find the perfect setting spray for you, according to these expert makeup artists.

Top Setting SpraysHow Does Setting Spray Actually Work?

"Think of setting spray as a protective shield for your face," says Suna Myles, a celebrity makeup artist based in Beverly Hills who's worked with Euphoria's Bella Podaras, among others. Myles adds that chemically, setting sprays use polymers to create an "invisible net" to bind your makeup layers together.

Celebrity makeup artist Melissa Hurkman, on behalf of Catrice Cosmetics, explains that this "lightweight film ... helps hold complexion products together, reduces movement throughout the day, and can improve how makeup wears as oils, sweat, humidity and facial movement come into play."

Hurkman has worked with stars like Khloe Kardashian, Paris Hilton and more, and she adds that "different formulas use different film-forming ingredients, so some focus more on longevity while others focus on adding hydration or glow."

But you don't have to save setting spray for only the end of your routine.

Tiesha Williams, Black Radiance brand ambassador and professional makeup artist, says, "I personally set every layer of makeup with a setting spray so that my clients have the coverage they need with an airbrush-like finish."

She adds, "A setting spray works to essentially melt product into the skin so that the layers of makeup do not look heavy."

Setting Spray vs. Finishing Spray: What's the Difference?

"A setting spray can be used in between makeup steps to rehydrate the skin," says New York City-based makeup artist Natalie Desher, adding that the product makes sure "each step of glam is locked in along the way," and then "a finishing spray is usually a heavy duty sealant for makeup."

"This category can be very confusing because names are used interchangeably quite often in marketing products," adds Radow. "There are all kinds of different names marketed for makeup sprays. They’re often referred to as a setting spray, melting spray, finishing spray, fixing, fixer spray and sealing spray."

As its name suggests, a finishing spray is the final step in your routine, Radow says, explaining, "A finishing spray is what I will use to seal my makeup ... it usually contains alcohol and makes my makeup waterproof, smudge proof ... sometimes requiring a special remover to get the makeup off."

She adds that some setting sprays can do both a setting and sealing job in one.

Do Setting Sprays Really Make Makeup Last Longer?

Thynna Wagenblast, a New York City–based celebrity makeup artist who's worked with stars like Cardi B, says that in her professional opinion, "Setting sprays absolutely help makeup last longer." But it's mostly about choosing the right one for you.

"Whether it’s for a bride who needs their makeup to stay flawless all night or a celebrity client performing on stage, there are different setting sprays formulated for different needs," Wagenblast says, adding, "Some are designed for long wear and hold, while others focus on hydration or controlling shine, so you can really tailor the finish and longevity depending on the occasion."

Myles tells Parade that if you don't use a setting spray, your makeup can be more easily broken down by your skin's natural oils or the humidity in the air within hours.

"A true setting spray physically creates a barrier that isolates your makeup from these elements," she says, adding, "It can extend the pristine look of your makeup from a standard four to six hours to upward of 12 to 16 hours without fading or creasing."

Does Setting Spray Need Alcohol To Work?

Robin Schoen, celebrity makeup artist for stars like Kate Winslet, Ashley Graham and more, says that "alcohol-based setting sprays tend to be the most effective" in helping to prevent smudging or transferring, especially on hot days.

"Alcohol-free formulas can provide hydration and help makeup look more seamless and luminous, but they generally offer less hold and longevity than their alcohol-based counterparts," she continues.

Schoen adds that since most alcohol-based formulas dry matte, they're good for controlling shine, but if you want a glowy look, you can opt for an alcohol-free formula.

And as Elaina Badro, a celebrity makeup artist and entrepreneur based out of Hollywood, notes, alcohol-based formulas may not be a good pick for every skin type. "I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them for daily use," she says, adding, "If you have sensitive skin, it can be super drying and can irritate the skin."

How Often Should You Use Setting Spray?

"You should use a setting spray every single time you are doing a full glam look," says Williams, adding, "If you’re grocery shopping and running errands in a BB cream and gloss, I personally don’t find it necessary."

For Roncal, it's mostly about preserving her hard work. "For me, setting spray has become part of the routine, just like mascara or lipstick. You've spent time creating your look, so it makes sense to help it last." She says the product is especially helpful for "workdays, events, dinners, travel days or anytime you want your makeup to look its best for longer."

Myles adds that it can also depend on your skin and the climate you live in. "You definitely don’t have to use it every single time," she says, but "if you have oily skin or live in a humid climate, using a light mist daily can save you from constant touch-ups." That said, she recommends saving the most heavy-duty sprays for special events, nights out and long days that require eight or more hours of hold.

41 Years Ago, This No. 1 Charting '80s Pop Icon Did the Impossible

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 11:57am

Yesterday marked 41 years since the legendary 1985 "Live Aid" event, which featured two venues, one in London and one in Philadelphia in a massive unprecedented benefit concert that gave us some legendary moments. One of these is one of the most impressive performing feats I have ever heard of courtesy of Phil Collins.

Collins made history as the only person to perform at both Live Aid concerts, made possible with the help of a Concorde. About the feat, Collins said "Why am I playing at both Wembley and Philadelphia? Because I’m mad, that’s why.”

View this post on Instagram

It makes sense that Collins would be the one to pull this stunt, as he was one of the most popular musicians of the era. With 3 number one singled in the UK and 7 in the US, Collins dominated the '80s airwaves with his now iconic sound. He also changed the way drums were recorded and produced throughout the decade, with his "gated reverb" sound making its way into much of the decade's musical output.

Whether fans knew about this legendary feat previously or not, they took to the comments to show praise to Collins and what he was able to accomplish.

"Love Love Phil Collins my ultimate favorite since the 80's!!👏🙌👏🙌❤️❤️❤️🙌👏❤️❤️❤️"

"No, not mad….it’s love, sir. Incredible to play both side of the Atlantic on same day."

"Saw you in Philly….what an amazing day. What a fantastic time to be alive. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥"

Collins certainly set the bar extremely high for work ethic with his pair of performances for Live Aid, and it's hard to imagine an artist ever doing something close to this again. Maybe if we ever have an event as big as Live Aid again someone might try to top this incredible feat.

'Miracle on the Hudson' Hero Capt. Sully Shares Heartbreaking Health News

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 11:44am

Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger III shared some heartbreaking health news, telling PEOPLE that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

The diagnosis came in August 2025 after he began to notice that he was forgetting things.

"It is early stage. For now, this means a name may not come easily to me, I forget a story I have recently told, or I don’t sleep as well,” Sullenberger told the outlet in a statement, “but I am in the beginning of this long journey.”

Sullenberger is known for having landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River on Jan. 15, 2009, after a bird strike destroyed the engines. As a result, he was able to save all 155 passengers and crew. His heroics were captured in the 2016 film "Sully," directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks

Sullenberger retired from flying in 2010. He was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in September 2025.

"Just as he was the same steady person before and after Flight 1549, he is the same steady person now, before and after this diagnosis," his wife Lorrie added, saying that the couple is living each day with “hope” and “joy."

He decided to use his platform to let others going through this that they are not alone.

"I have spent my life in service, in the U.S. Air Force, as a commercial airline pilot, an accident investigator, and as the U.S. Ambassador to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization),” Sullenberger told PEOPLE. "I have advocated for the safety of the traveling public for decades. And, of course, after the landing of Flight 1549 in the Hudson River, I used the greater voice afforded to me by ‘The Miracle on the Hudson’ to further aviation safety by speaking out on the many issues facing the industry.”

“I was proud to work with many colleagues, fighting for increased pilot training, more pilot rest, in favor of the two-pilot rule, on increased technology issues, and more," he added. "This new phase of my life has challenged what it means to be of service. And the answer is to speak up. It is my hope that by sharing this, other families living in the shadows with this disease will feel they too can step forward. And about hope. So many people told us after Flight 1549, that the outcome gave them hope. Lorrie, my incredible partner of 37 years, says we can all use a little of that hope right now.”

Arrest Warrant Issued for Bill Belichick’s Daughter-in-Law After Missed Court Date

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 11:21am

An arrest warrant has been issued for Bill Belichick‘s daughter-in-law.

Jennifer Schmitt Belichick, who is the wife of Bill's son Steve Belichick, failed to appear for a scheduled court appearance, which led to a Brunswick District Court judge in North Carolina issuing an arrest warrant on Monday, July 13, PEOPLE reports. The hearing was due to a traffic violation that occured on May 21 around 5:43 p.m where Jen allegedly drove 88 mph in a 70 mph zone.

According to court records obtained and reviewed by the outlet, officials attempted to contact Jen on the phone after she missed the hearing, but they have been unable to reach her.

A court official who spoke with the California Post said that Jen has a few options to resolve this issue: "She can file a motion to recall the order, hire an attorney to handle the matter for her, or turn herself in."

Jen and Steve have been married since 2017. The two moved to North Carolina after Bill took the head coaching job at the University of North Carolina and hired his son to serve as the defensive coordinator. Steve previously worked with Bill on the New England Patriots’ coaching staff from 2012 to 2023.

Jen has made headlines over the last few years, specifically regarding Bill's relationship with Jordon Hudson, who is 25-years-old. She criticized Hudson for her behavior during Bill's infamous CBSSunday Morning interview. Comedian Nikki Glaser came to Hudson's defense, saying that she was just acting as Bill's publicist, but Jen fired back.

“Publicists act professionally and don’t ‘storm’ off set, delaying an interview,” Jen wrote on Instagram at the time.

She then reportedly went on a "nearly hour-long profanity-laced tirade" following one of UNC's games in 2025.

A24 and Kane Parsons’ 'Backrooms' Movie Available on Digital and For Rent Today

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 11:11am

2025 was the year of horror. Between films like Sinners and Weapons taking over the box office and Oscar wins and nominations, the genre is quickly becoming a fan favorite among cinephiles and moviegoers. This year is no different. We’ve seen the hype of films like Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Obsession and now Backrooms. And while horror films are still doing well in theaters, many are now getting earlier digital release dates, typically available for rent 2-3 months after their theatrical release.

A24’s latest horror film, Backrooms, which was co-produced by Blumhouse, hit theaters on May 29. It took the box office by storm, earning over 81 million opening weekend and grossing $350 million globally on a $10 million budget. As of today, July 14, the film is officially available for rent and digital release. This comes less than two weeks after the film's extended cut was released in theaters on July 3.

Directed by Kane Parsons, A24’s youngest director at just 20 years old, the film follows Clark, a lonely furniture store owner and failed architect who discovers another dimension beyond the store. Clark’s therapist, Mary, sets out to find him after his disappearance, venturing into the unknown. Parsons created the film after the success of his Backrooms web series on YouTube. “The places I’ve always been most fascinated by are the ones that see little (or ideally) no active foot traffic,” Parsons tells Dazed in an interview. “Industrial back corridors, storage rooms, crawlspaces, emergency exits, vacant offices, dead malls, or just plainly bizarre and outdated architecture hidden out of view from the public. Areas that rarely see use, but haven’t yet completely rotted away in abandonment.”

Backrooms is available for purchase for $24.99 or for rent for $19.99 on multiple streaming platforms, including Amazon Prime, Apple TV, YouTube and Fandango. While it doesn’t have an official release date for other streaming platforms, it is expected to hit HBO Max or Peacock later this year.

Campbell’s Breaks 128-Year Tradition With Surprising New Soup Launch

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 11:03am

If you’re looking to boost your protein intake, but eating lots of steak or chugging protein shakes isn’t your style, Campbell’s may have a new solution for you. Since 1869, the brand has become synonymous with pantry staples, and now it’s leaning into the protein trend with its latest launch.

A new line of protein soups from Campbell’s features ingredients like slow-simmered bone broth, white-meat chicken, quinoa, beans, and lentils to provide 20 grams of protein per can. The five new offerings combine fan-favorite flavors with added boosts of both protein and fiber and are easy to spot in the soup aisle as they have a green label on the can as opposed to the familiar Campbell’s red.

In fact, this is one of only a few times Campbell’s has deviated from its classic red and white soup can labels, which debuted in 1898. In 2012, the brand launched a limited-edition series of condensed tomato soup cans with labels inspired by Andy Warhol’s iconic work.

The new protein soup line seeks to “tap into trending flavors consumers are seeking,” says the brand, giving fans what they crave, as 71% of Americans surveyed in a 2024 study shared that they want to add more protein to their diets. The five new soup flavors are listed below:

  • Homestyle Chicken & Rotini features slow-simmered bone broth, white-meat chicken, carrots, celery, navy beans, and pasta.
  • Italian-Style Wedding is made with slow-simmered bone broth, meatballs, carrots, spinach, pasta, and navy beans.
  • Lemon Pepper Chicken is hearty with slow-simmered bone broth, white-meat chicken, carrots, chickpeas, rice, corn, celery, and kale.
  • Southwest Black Bean features bold Southwest-inspired flavors, including slow-simmered bone broth, black beans, tomatoes, and bell pepper.
  • Mediterranean Lentil is a vibrant blend of slow-simmered bone broth, lentils, tomato, carrots, red peppers, chickpeas, onions, and spinach.

1979 Rock Song, Written Last Minute, Remains a Classic Radio Anthem 47 Years Later

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 10:45am

Electric Light Orchestra's 1979 album, Discovery, led to a last-minute addition that would become one of the group's Top 10 hits on the charts and a staple with a comical story behind a misheard lyric.

"Don't Bring Me Down" became a smashing success for the group as their second highest-charting single in the UK, but also landed them at No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. At the time, the band decided to move away from their usual sound and go for a more disco vibe with their new album. Frontman Jeff Lynne was the one behind "Don't Bring Me Down," and once called it a "great big galloping ball of distortion."

During the creation of the album, Lynn was at a standstill as to where to head next with finishing "Don't Bring Me Down." Engineer Reinhold Max suggested that Lynn "just boogie out for the night" and do the track without strings, a first for the band.

Drummer Bev Bevan was also asked to develop a beat, but didn't want to take part int he jame session for "no reason," and they instead looped his drums on a tape. Lynne would compose the track's music on a piano with no string instruments also due to a developing issue.

"This was the first song I did without any strings. It was exciting to work with them when we started, but [after] six albums, I got fed up with them. There was also trouble with the unions. They’d stop playing before the end of the song if the end of the hour was approaching. Now they aren’t so rude since there are samplers and everything," he said, according to Far Outmagazine.

After developing some lyrics about a girl who thought she was better than her boyfriend, the song came together. Lynn explained in the liner notes of the 2001 reissue of the album, “I wrote it at the last minute [because] I felt there weren’t enough loud ones on the album. This was just what I was after."

"Don't Bring Me Down" became a staple on the radio, but it also has one of the most misheard lyrics, which many fans interpret as the word "Bruce." In reality, Lynn added a cute count-in during its creation despite the track not needing one. He made up the word "groos" to fill the gap in the vocals, and was later told by the engineer that it means "greetings" in German. Lynn thought it was lovely and kept it, but during concerts, the fans misinterpreted it as "Bruce" and led the singer to sing the same misheard lyrics.

Alongside the misheard word, the track also includes the real-life sound of a door closing, which was a metal fire door at MusiclandStudio. "Don't Bring Me Down" also became the unofficial theme song for the NASA Skylab space station in 1979.

New 'Spider-Man' Trailer Brings Back the Hulk Fans Wanted for a Decade

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 10:42am

For nearly a decade, Marvel fans have watched the Hulk get smaller. Not physically, but in every way that made him terrifying: since Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame, the rampaging monster gave way to "Smart Hulk", a friendly physicist in glasses who talks through his feelings. Fans have been vocal about wanting the monster back. On July 10, the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day gave him to them.

The scene is built a little bit like a horror reveal. Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner appears as a physics professor wearing a gamma inhibitor device, and he hands Peter Parker a simple instruction: "If you see me with this off, run." The trailer then makes good on the warning, showing Banner transform right in front of Spider-Man, who responds with the already much-memed line, "I didn't know you could get that big."

This is not Smart Hulk having a bad day. Hasbro's tie-in toy line confirms this is the Savage Hulk, the mindless, rampaging incarnation, returning to the MCU, and the trailer offers the first real look at him. Fans have wanted Hulk back to his monstrous ways through several evolutions of the character, and, as Comicbook.com said, the trailer "finally delivers the savage Hulk we've wanted for a decade." The last time audiences saw an uncontrolled public rampage was the Hulkbuster fight in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron 11 years ago. For fans who grew up on that version of the character, the wait has probably fely longer than that.

The MCU has never staged a Spider-Man versus Hulk fight, which makes this trailer a first in franchise history. And the Hulk does not appear to be acting alone: he seems to be under the control of an unseen foe, widely theorized to be Sadie Sink's still-unrevealed character.

Related: David Duchovny Reveals the Trick Behind Those X-Files Phone Calls

Then there is the color question. Sony's own Spidey Tracker site briefly showed the Hulk as grey rather than green, which would mark the first non-green Hulk in MCU history. Tom Holland fanned the flames in a Fandango interview by blurting "Hulk is green," only for Zendaya to counter, "Is he though?"

The trailer has some other exciting reveals. Jon Bernthal's Punisher appears, and a passing mention of Ned and MJ graduating from MIT confirms a four-year time jump since Spider-Man: No Way Home, meaning Peter has spent four years alone in a world that forgot him.

The movie opens July 31, three weeks after the trailer's release, and Sony clearly saved its biggest swing for last. A decade of Smart Hulk taught audiences to see Banner as safe, but this trailer just put the friendliest neighborhood hero in the rampaging Hulk's path.

If you were a ‘90s kid, there’s a solid chance Totino’s Pizza Rolls were an after-school snack staple in your household. Turns out, the brand is still going strong and has developed far beyond classic flavors like cheese and pepperoni.

In fact, according to a popular junk food news account called CandyHunting on Facebook and Instagram, Totino’s just launched three new Blasted flavors: Zesty Limón Blasted Pepperoni, Garlic Parm Blasted Pepperoni, and Nacho Boom Blasted Cheese.

Looking at the comments, it’s very clear that Totino’s Pizza Roll fans are pumped about these new mouth-watering selections. “I want all of them,” one user wrote. “This is why my back ain’t getting smaller,” joked another.

“These look ridiculous in the best way,” a third person chimed in, while a fourth echoed, “Take all my money!” One international fan even inquired how to ship them to Australia!

In addition to drooling over the three new flavors, fans also couldn’t help but reminisce about Totino’s Pizza Rolls flavors from yesteryear.

“Who remembers the ranch ones? Those were elite!” one fan asked. “They’re doing everything except bringing back the Taco Pizza Rolls,” a second fan argued.

A third person wrote, "I miss the ham and cheese ones," while a fourth mused, "Bring back the plain sausage!"

Domino's Gave Away $1 Million Worth of Pizza Earlier This Summer

When Folarin Balogun was given a red card during the United States’ win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup Round of 32, Domino's gave away approximately $1 million worth of pizza.

Why?

It was through a promotional event called “Emergency Pizzas for Red Card,” which said that if any player on the United States national soccer team is given a red card during a game, a select number of people would receive a coupon for free or discounted pizza.

NBC Hit Drama, Ranked Among the Network’s Most-Watched, Quietly Lands on Netflix for the First Time—But There’s a Catch

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 10:24am

Chicago P.D.is going international.

One of network television’s most popular crime procedurals is finally expanding its streaming footprint.

Chicago P.D. is quietly making its way onto Netflix for the first time ever, giving fans a new way to dive into the high-stakes world of the Intelligence Unit.

The Dick Wolf-created series, known for its gritty storytelling, intense action and character-driven drama, set amid the backdrop of the Windy City, has built a loyal following over more than a decade on air.

Previously, the series has only been able to stream on NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock; however, it’s now following in the footsteps of its sister shows, Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, which both had brief stints on Netflix.

The catch, however, is that the Netflix release will only be international, as What’s on Netflix reports that fans in the United Kingdom, Latin America and Europe will be able to tune in starting on Aug. 1

“We can currently confirm that Netflix UK and Netflix France are definitely on the roster, alongside a broader rollout across much of Europe, including the Netherlands and Spain. We can also see it’s set to release in Latin America, including Brazil, and in other global territories, such as some Asian territories and Australia,” the outlet noted.

The series, which premiered on NBC in 2014 as a spinoff of Chicago Fire, marking the second installment in the One Chicago franchise, wrapped up its 13th season this past spring.

It’s unclear if all 13 seasons of Chicago P.D. will be available for streaming or if it will be limited to select ones.

Chicago P.D. will return this fall for its 14th season, bringing back Jason Beghe as Hank Voight, Patrick John Flueger as Adam Ruzek, Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess, Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Dante Torres and Arienne Mandi as Eva Imani.

Original cast member LaRoyce Hawkins, who plays fan-favorite Kevin Atwater, is exiting the series and is expected to return for a few episodes in the first half of the season to wrap up his character’s storyline.

"NBC is the No. 1 most-watched entertainment network on Wednesday nights thanks to the strength of the One Chicago lineup," NBC reported, with Chicago P.D. ranking 13th among most-watched network shows of the 2025-26 season and third overall on NBC.

Unfortunately, Chicago P.D. is reportedly not expected to arrive on Netflix in the U.S. (at least not yet), so you’ll have to opt for re-watching on Peacock or waiting for reruns to air.

Everyone else, get ready to dive into the world of Intelligence and fast-paced police work on Saturday, Aug. 1!

4 Birth Months With a Powerful Inner Drive That Sets Them Apart

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 10:13am

Those with a powerful inner drive are wired to keep going. They don't need constant encouragement or someone reminding them what needs to be done. Once they decide they're working toward something, they're not easily thrown off course. Life may slow them down from time to time, but it rarely stops them for long. Every birth month has its own unique strengths, yet these four are often recognized for their inner drive, which helps them stay focused until they reach the finish line. Read on for beginner-friendly, expert astrology insights.

Which Birth Months Have a Strong Inner Drive?

Real determination usually isn't something you notice right away. It's the person who sticks with a goal after the excitement wears off, finds another way when the first plan doesn't work, and refuses to let a few setbacks decide the outcome. That's a quality that those born in March, June, September, and November possess. They approach life differently, and they all share a stubborn streak that helps them focus on what matters most.

March: Determined Dreamers Who Turn Goals Into Reality

March birthdays have a habit of surprising everyone, especially those who underestimate them. As an intuitive Pisces or a bold Aries, you balance empathy with the courage to take action when it matters. That combination allows March-born people to dream big while still having the determination to turn those dreams into reality. They may not always announce their plans, but they're constantly working toward something meaningful. Once this birth month decides they want something, they're willing to put in the time and effort to make it happen. Worthwhile goals usually take patience, and March-borns hold this truth close.

EXPLORE: These 4 Birth Dates Are Always Led by Their Higher Self

June: Curious Minds Who Never Stop Growing

People born in June are naturally curious and always looking for ways to improve themselves. They enjoy learning, asking questions, and finding better solutions. When they hit a setback, they usually don't stay discouraged for long. Instead, they adjust their approach and keep going. Their motivation comes from a desire to grow rather than to prove themselves to others. Resonating with either adaptable Gemini or caring Cancer, you bring warmth and curiosity that help people feel at ease. Behind that friendly personality is someone who quietly refuses to give up on the things that matter most.

RELATE?: These 4 Birth Dates Have the Soul of a Saint

September

Because September people have a steady work ethic, they rarely rush into decisions, but prefer to build their success one step at a time. While others may lose interest halfway through a project, September stays focused until the job is finished. Attuned as an analytical Virgo or a balanced Libra, you enjoy understanding both people and the world around you. That thoughtful mindset helps September-born people stay disciplined, even when progress feels slow. They're dependable because they believe consistency always wins over shortcuts.

FUN: Your Perfect Iced Coffee, Based on Your Birth Month

November

Whether you're an intense Scorpio or an adventurous Sagittarius, you're unafraid to face life's biggest truths. That fearless attitude gives November-borns the confidence to keep pushing forward when others might decide to walk away. If there's one birth month that refuses to quit after a setback, it's November. These individuals often have remarkable emotional strength and determination. Obstacles don't scare them—they challenge them. Even after disappointment, they're usually the first to pick themselves up and start again with even greater focus.

Country Icon, With Multiple No. 1s in 1974, Is Surging on the Billboard Charts Over 50 Years Later

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 10:09am

More than five decades after releasing some of his biggest songs, John Denver is still showing up on the country music charts.

Almost 53 years after dropping his 1973 compilation album, John Denver's Greatest Hits, the country legend returned to the Billboard leaderboards this week, as the record re-entered the Top Country Albums chart at No. 46, according to new standings dated the week of July 18.

It's only the album's second-ever week spent on the Top Country Albums chart, as well as the highest position it's ever reached on that chart.

But back in 1974, the compilation album reigned on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks straight, becoming one of Denver's three albums to ever hit No. 1, along with Back Home Again (1974) and Windsong (1975).

The greatest hits album was also one of Denver's chart-toppers when he had two different entries reach No. 1 on the exact same day. On March 30, 1974, John Denver's Greatest Hits reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while his popular song "Sunshine on My Shoulders" hit the top spot on the Hot 100, becoming his first song to ever do so.

Over the course of his career, Denver had three other songs hit No. 1 on the Hot 100: "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," "I'm Sorry" and "Annie's Song."

Denver re-recorded some of his most beloved tracks for his 1973 Greatest Hits album, giving some of the earlier tracks like "Rocky Mountain High" and "Take Me Home, Country Roads" a fresh, updated vibe in order to spice up the original recordings.

"I felt that some of these songs had grown a bit, that I am singing better than I was four or five years ago," Denver explained in the album's liner notes, per American Songwriter. "And that I would like to treat some of the songs a little differently than I had in the original recordings."

He also revealed at the time that the album's track list is made up mostly of song are songs that were "most often requested" at his concerts.

Legendary '70s Band Re-Enters the Charts 50 Years After Forming

Tue, 07/14/2026 - 10:00am

One of the late 1970's biggest bands that released hits like "American Girl" and "The Waiting" is climbing the charts, and it's none other than Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Billboard's Artist 100 list has revealed its weekly list of popular artists, with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers re-entering the charts decades after they originally came onto the scene in 1976. They ranked in at No. 49 on the list, right under one of the 2000s biggest rock bands, Linkin Park.

Out of Gainesville, Florida, came one of the era's biggest groups that released a string of hit anthems that have stood the test of time. The band was originally formed with lead singer and rhythm guitarist Tom Petty, lead guitarist Mike Campbell, keyboardist Benmont Tench, drummer Stan Lynch, and bassist Ron Blair. Over the next few years, the band would go through some lineup changes with Howie Epstein, Scott Thurston, and Steve Ferrone.

What made Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers stand out in an era of unrelenting talent was their hit power pop and pop rock tracks. They released their self-titled debut album in 1976 that would prove to be just write in skyrocketing them to fame.

They released "American Girl," which would become a staple classic rock anthem and was rated among critics as one of Petty's greatest works. While the track had a big rumor behind its inspiration, which Petty later debunked, with the singer having been inspired in while in is apartment.

"I wrote that in a little apartment I had in Encino. It was right next to the freeway and the cars sometimes sounded like waves from the ocean, which is why there's the line about the waves crashing on the beach. The words just came tumbling out very quickly - and it was the start of writing about people who are longing for something else in life, something better than they have," he said, according to SongFacts.

The track was only one of many tracks that the band would become known for on and off the charts. Their track "Refugee" landed at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, with Petty once saying it was one of their toughest that took 100 takes to get right. The 1981 track, "The Waiting," also landed on the charts. Despite the band's popularity, they never had a No.1 hit, with "Don't Do Me Like That" being their highest at No. 10 in 1980.

Throughout their career, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released 13 studio albums and toured regularly until Petty died in 2017.

“I still really love playing with this band. It’s just such a ridiculously good band; I think that’s what keeps me involved in going out on the road. it keeps me wanting to go out and play. I just really love playing with these guys. I think we all treasure the Heartbreakers; When we actually get together and it’s the Heartbreakers there’s a sense of pride in it. And we know we’re good [laughs], so that’s something to live up to, isn’t it? Every time we go out there we want to be really great," said Petty in 2005.
