Comedy Titans Arsenio Hall and Jay Leno Saved an Elderly Couple From Their Burning Home

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 6:06pm

Arsenio Hall and Jay Leno were both titans of late-night TV, but Hall recently revealed a story that explained the duo actually saved two lives together, too.

Hall, 70, skyrocketed to stardom on his late-night show, The Arsenio Hall Show, which ran from 1989 to 1994, and again from 2013 to 2014. He also had legendary film roles, like Coming to America, alongside Eddie Murphy. Leno, 75, a former stand-up comedian, hosted The Tonight Show for years, and famously ended his run in 2009. But in Hall's new memoir, Arsenio: A Memoir, it's revealed that the duo once saved an elderly couple from their burning home.

“Jay and I run out the front door and sprint to the burning house," Hall shared in the book, PEOPLE reported. "He presses the doorbell and I pound on the door. No one answers. In tandem, we kick the door and break it down."

Yelling to neighbors to run for help, Hall and Leno found an older couple asleep in the back bedroom.

"'You wake them up,' I say to Jay. 'They need to see you first, not a random Black guy standing over them,' " Hall recounted. "We wake them up and lead them out of their house. A few minutes later, sirens wail and firefighters arrive."

Hall was flabbergasted at what the two had just experienced.

"A few of them start clapping and the applause builds. I lower my head, feeling uncomfortable, but the crazy thought does occur to me, 'Tonight Jay Leno and I saved two lives,' " he recalled.

Were Jay Leno and Arsenio Hall Enemies?

It was commonly thought that Hall and Leno were enemies back in the '90s due to their dueling shows. Hall told Entertainment Weekly in 1992 that he would “kick [Jay] Leno's ass."

He later said the statement was "taken out of context and isolated from the rest of my conversation," and "took on a very different meaning than what I had intended."

When Does Arsenio Hall's Memoir Come Out?

Arsenio: A Memoir was released on March 31, and the comedy titan couldn't be more excited.

Iconic Broadway Musical Just Had Its Biggest Week in 30 Years Thanks to a 'DWTS' Pro and a 'Mormon Wives' Star

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:57pm

Chicago the Musical is having a moment, and the Dancing With the Stars family is the reason.

On Wednesday, April 15, Mark Ballas went to Instagram to celebrate what he called "Broadway History." The Season 34 DWTS pro, who joined the long running revival as slick defense lawyer Billy Flynn on April 6, said the show had just logged its "highest grossing week in 30 years."

"WE DID IT!!" he wrote, thanking the cast, orchestra and crew and giving a shout out to the costar he happens to know very well: Whitney Leavitt, his Season 34 DWTS partner.

A 'DWTS' Partner Reunion, on Broadway

Ballas and Leavitt were paired on DWTS Season 34, finishing sixth after the semifinals. Chicago saw a nearly 30 percent jump in ticket sales the week Ballas debuted opposite Leavitt, who recently returned to the cast as Roxie Hart.

A Very Long Running Show

Chicago's current revival opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on November 14, 1996. It transferred to the Shubert Theatre the following year, then to the Ambassador Theatre in 2003, where it still plays. Per Playbill's anniversary coverage, it is the longest running American musical in Broadway history, and with The Phantom of the Opera having closed in 2023, it is also the longest running show currently on Broadway. In other words, breaking the right kind of record here is hard to do.

The 'DWTS' Family Showed Up in the Comments

Ballas's post quickly filled with familiar names. Leavitt replied, "🔥🔥🔥ayyyeeeeeeeeee." Ballas's mother, Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, wrote, "Simply the best." Derek Hough added, "No doubts 🙌." Sharna Burgess, Maura Higgins, Lisa Rinna, Paula Abdul and Cameron Mathison all chimed in.

Ballas is playing Billy Flynn through May 3 as part of a limited engagement. Leavitt's run as Roxie is also limited, so anyone hoping to catch the DWTS partner pairing at the Ambassador will want to move fast.

Spring is finally here, and summer is right around the corner, which means that it’s officially sandals season! If you’re looking to update your shoe collection, you can’t go wrong with a pair of airy sandals that are equal parts comfortable, convenient, and cute. These Clarks Arla Waveslide Sandals check all those boxes, allowing you to effortlessly slip into them for all-day comfort. The best part? They’re currently on sale for up to 50% off at Amazon!

The blue version of these sandals normally retails for $70, but they’re now marked down to as low as $35! For just a few dollars more, you can snag a pair in three other colors. They’re available in a black style, black and white, and a beige version. Those normally retail for either $65 or $70, but they’re now on sale for $45, which is still a buzzworthy deal. Sizes range from 5 to 12, including wide sizes, and shoppers noted they fit true to size.

Designed with your comfort in mind, these sandals feature Clarks’ signature foam footbed that’ll cushion your feet with every step and prevent fatigue. It’s no surprise that these sandals are a part of the Cloudsteppers collection. According to several shoppers, wearing these sandals felt like “walking on clouds.”

The footbed has a curved silhouette, designed to provide your feet with the utmost support. Reviewers with high arches and plantar fasciitis confirmed this, noting that these sandals are especially supportive. They added that they were able to wear these sandals all day without experiencing any pain or discomfort.

The midsole is made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), and the sole is made of thermoplastic rubber (TPR). Both materials are lightweight and flexible, allowing you to walk around with ease. Along with the supportive footbed, EVA also offers excellent cushioning. The heel is around 1.6 inches high, which will give you the slightest lift without sacrificing stability.

“These sandals are incredibly comfortable,” one reviewer raved. “I really needed a cushiony and supportive pair of sandals, and these are it.” Another customer mentioned that they’re a teacher and said that “these shoes are super comfortable and supportive from day one.” They added that despite being on their feet all day, they didn’t feel any pain.

These sandals are fixed with two wide straps, creating a criss-cross design that’ll hug your feet and prevent them from sliding out. You can adjust the tightness of the straps thanks to the loop ring and riptape fastening. Shoppers noted that the straps are soft against their skin and don’t rub or cause blisters.

While these sandals are extremely comfortable and practical, they don’t compromise on style. Not only are the straps functional, but they’ll also add a playful accent to your look. The straps boast stripes that run all through the textile fabric, giving these sandals a beachy feel. They’re very versatile, allowing you to throw them on with nearly any warm-weather ensemble. These breezy sandals are ready to tackle all your spring and summer outings.

For a brand that's often praised for $100-plus one-pieces, seeing Andie at Target feels like a major fashion moment.

A Cult-Favorite Brand at Target Prices View this post on Instagram

Andie has long been known for its fit-first approach. From long-torso options to compressive fabrics that smooth and support, the brand carved out a loyal following by focusing on how swimsuits feel as much as how they look. Signature silhouettes like the Amalfi helped cement Andie as a go-to for women who want timeless swimsuits that don't require constant readjusting or tugging.

Now, Target is bringing that same design philosophy to a wider audience. The Andie collection for Target features inclusive sizing from XS–3X, as well as long-torso options in select styles. Shoppers can expect supportive one-pieces, versatile bikinis and easy cover-ups designed for real-life wear—think swimming, chasing kids or lounging poolside.

Even better? The prices are refreshingly accessible. Bikini separates start at $32, one-pieces ring in around $50, and cover-ups are priced under $50. For shoppers who have been curious about Andie but hesitant about the price tag, Target just made trying the brand a whole lot easier.

What to Expect In Stores and Online

The Andie collection is available in nearly all Target locations across the country, as well as on Target.com and the Target app. In total, the collaboration includes nearly 50 pieces spanning swim and ready-to-wear. Many styles are also available exclusively online, giving digital shoppers even more options.

Expect modern, streamlined silhouettes with thoughtful details like adjustable straps, supportive shelf bras and high-quality materials that feel substantial without being stiff. The overall vibe stays true to Andie's aesthetic: clean lines, classic colors and confidence-boosting cuts that won't go out of style next season.

Target has been steadily building its reputation as a swim destination, mixing in-demand national brands with affordable in-house labels. Adding Andie to the lineup only strengthens that position.

Daniel Radcliffe Weighs in on 'Stranger Things' Finale, Conformity Gate and Eleven's Fate

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:08pm

Harry Potterstar Daniel Radclifferecently revealed himself to be a huge Stranger Thingsfan, confirming not only that he watched the show from start to finish but also that he had clear opinions on the show's finale.

Although there was significant fan backlash to the Stranger Things finale, which began with responses to Season 5 Part 2, Radcliffe recently revealed on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz that he loved the show's conclusion and thought they stuck the landing.

"I loved it," the actor said. "I think people are so—I know, as always, when anything finishes, there's going to be discourse. But I thought they landed the plane amazingly well, considering all the stuff they have set up over that time."

Radcliffe's reference to fan responses to endings almost certainly relates at least in part to the Harry Potter movies. Although Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (both parts) was generally well-received, there was a fair bit of negativity when it came to certain aspects, such as the stylization of the actors for the epilogue's jump forward in time. Perhaps for that reason, Radcliffe wanted to honor the work that went into the Stranger Things finale, despite the mixed response (to say the least) that it was met with by audiences.

Radcliffe also spoke about the ambiguous conclusion to Eleven/Jane Hopper's story, which meant that she had either died when the Upside Down was destroyed or was still alive but could never reconnect with her family and friends again.

When asked if he believed Eleven was still alive, Radcliffe said, "I mean, yeah. Like, we're kind of allowed to believe the nice version if we want to, right? So, yeah, for me."

Radcliffe also spoke about the now infamous Conformity Gate, referring to the fan theory that the finale of the show had been a deception and a real (and, theoretically, better) finale was coming and would reveal that the characters had still been under Vecna's curse in the supposedly fake finale.

Of that theory, Radcliffe said, "Watching [the Duffer Brothers] have to shut down rumors about another episode is the most tiring thing. I'm tired for them. I'm just like, oh my God, you poor guys."

Radcliffe then joked about there being a secret Harry Potter movie.

Interestingly, Sarah Hindsgaul, who is married to Matt Duffer—one half of the Stranger Things creators—reshared the post, hinting that she might share in Radcliffe's views on the finale and fans' responses to it.

1990 Hit Ranked Among ‘Best Series of All Time’ Was Secretly Inspired by Marilyn Monroe

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 5:02pm

Twin Peaks was a revelation. But its origin story might just be even more surprising.

In 1987, creators David Lynch and Mark Frost were developing a project centered on the death of Marilyn Monroe. Adapting Anthony Summers’ Monroe biography, Goddess, they titled their screenplay Venus Descending and explored the idea that the Kennedy family were responsible for the screen star's death.

According to Mental Floss, studios balked at the premise, so the two switched gears, shifting their focus to a blonde homecoming queen named Laura Palmer and working elements of their Monroe-inspired script into a new murder mystery — one constructed around a familiar archetype: A beautiful young woman who becomes entangled with a powerful man meets a tragic end.

In a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair, Lynch made the connection explicit. “You could say that Laura Palmer is Marilyn Monroe, and that Mulholland Drive is about Marilyn Monroe, too,” he said. “Everything is about Marilyn Monroe.”

Related: Rare 1961 Bikini Photos of Screen Siren Surface Ahead of MoMA Retrospective

A year later, Lynch expanded on that fascination. “It’s hard to say exactly what it is about Marilyn Monroe,” he told Vice. “It’s not just the woman-in-trouble thing that pulls you in. It’s more that some women are really mysterious.”

Acclaim for the show is certainly no mystery. With a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 78% and an audience rating of 92%, the three-season series was a hit. So much so that 25 years later, Lynch and Frost returned with Twin Peaks: The Return, which Rolling Stone called “the most groundbreaking TV series ever,” and which also ranks among Letterboxd’s top miniseries of all time.

The original Twin Peakspremiered 36 years ago this month and is now consistently ranked across best-TV lists — see: Time, Empire, The Hollywood Reporter, Rolling Stone. A prestige legacy it owes to the one and only Marilyn Monroe.

Trader Joe’s Fans Swear This Viral New Shampoo Is a Dupe for Luxury Haircare Brands

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:58pm

Budget beauty lovers may have just found their next holy grail.

Trader Joe’s shoppers are buzzing over a new bonding shampoo and conditioner, with many comparing the affordable duo to high-end haircare staples from Olaplex, Kérastase, and Aveda.

Priced at just $7.99 each, the new products have quickly captured attention online. By comparison, luxury shampoos from brands mentioned above often retail between $30 and $45 per bottle, making Trader Joe’s latest launch a major steal.

Natasha Fischer of Trader Joe’s List spotlighted the products in a recent Instagram video. “Trader Joe's might have just recreated a really popular high-end hair product, and the price difference alone is kind of wild,” she said.

According to Fischer, the formulas are designed to nourish and hydrate using innovative ingredients. “It's powered by plant-based bonding agents formulated with hydrolyzed keratin and silk to nourish and hydrate,” she explained, reading from the packaging.

Allure states that bonding shampoos are formulated to repair and strengthen hair by reconnecting broken bonds within the hair shaft—damage often caused by heat styling, chemical treatments and environmental stress. By restoring these internal structures, such products help improve elasticity, reduce breakage and enhance overall shine, making them a staple for many.

“Ran the ingredients through chatgpt and it’s actually a best match for Aveda’s Botanical Repair not olaplex or redken products,” one user noted in the comments of the video.

Another revealed, “These are so good. The pair as as good as Kerastase. My hair is soft and silky. Absolutely perfect combination.”

“They’re SO good! My hair has never felt better!” a third chimed in.

Trader Joe’s is known for producing high-quality dupes for many beauty products as a fraction of the cost. Some other notable mentions include the cult-favorite Cacay Oil Body Butter ($7), which shoppers say rivals the warm, luxe scent of Baccarat Rouge 540 Body Lotion ($80). The Daily Facial Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40 ($13) has also earned praise for its lightweight, primer-like finish, drawing comparisons to Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen ($38). In the haircare aisle, Trader Joe’s Hair Oil ($6) is frequently likened to Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil ($32) for its ability to smooth frizz and boost shine.

4 Spiritually-Gifted Birth Months With Magic in Their DNA

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:45pm

There are souls that seem to navigate life with a deeper sense of understanding—an intuition that is hard to explain but impossible to ignore. While everyone has the capacity for spiritual awareness, certain birth months tend to carry an extra spark. This isn't about being "better" or more special; it's about being naturally attuned to energies that others might overlook.

Here are four birth months often associated with a quiet, powerful kind of magic. Ultimately, spiritual gifts are not limited to a select few; they manifest differently in everyone. However, if you were born in one of these months, it's likely you've felt a gentle pull toward something deeper. That feeling? It's worth listening to.

Which Birth Months Are Spiritually Gifted With Magic in Their DNA?

Check for your birth month. Disregard your birth date.

February — The Otherworldly One

People born in February often feel like old souls navigating a modern world. There's a natural detachment in how they observe life, almost as if they're watching patterns unfold from a higher perspective. Their intuition doesn't shout, it whispers, but it's usually right. Whether you're an innovative Aquarius who sees beyond limitations, or a deeply empathetic Pisces who feels everything on a soul level, February-born individuals carry a rare blend of vision and emotional depth that makes their spiritual awareness feel almost otherworldly.

May — The Quietly Magnetic One

There's something grounded yet mysteriously magnetic about those born in May. At first, they don't recognize their spiritual strength because it's grounded in stability rather than intensity. As time passes, their connection to nature, energy, and their inner balance is undeniable. If you're a steady, sensual Taurus who finds meaning through the physical world, or a curious, perceptive Gemini who connects dots others miss, being born in May gives you the advantage of having magic that reveals itself through patience, growth, and quiet realization.

October — The Perceptive One

October individuals walk the line between the light and shadow with ease. They tend to understand both beauty and complexity in ways that give them emotional intelligence far beyond their years. Their spiritual gift lies in perception—they can read people, situations, and energy with uncanny accuracy. Whether you're a charming Libra who seeks harmony and truth, or an intense, intuitive Scorpio who dives fearlessly into the depths, October-borns possess a natural ability to transform and guide, both themselves and others.

Their magic lies in their resilience and faith, even when life becomes unpredictable. 1994 Hit Track Ranked Among 'Best Rock Songs of All Time' Became a Timeless Love Anthem

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:36pm

When faced with undying love, there's sometimes nothing better than belting out a heartfelt ballad. British rock band The Pretenders released a successful ballad that deviated from their usual style and became a timeless anthem that ranked as one of the best rock songs of all time.

In 1994, frontwoman Chrissie Hynde was known for her powerful voice with hits like "Talk of the Town," "Back on the Chain Gang," and many more that cemented the band in the rock genre. No one expected her and The Pretenders to release a moving ballad that captured the emotions of unshakable love.

"I'll Stand by You" was part of their sixth studio album Last of the Independance that released on April 11th of that year. The track was written by Hynde with the songwriting team of Tom Kelly and Bill Steinberg, with Ian Stanley serving as its producer. It soon ranked at No. 12 on Billboard's Best Rock Love Songs of All Time, calling it a "genuinely beautiful, heart-rending ballad that wasn’t what the world expected from rocker Chrissie Hynde in 1994."

"Hynde’s haunting voice sounds lived in and a little sad as she pledges timeless devotion to someone who could be a lover (and yes, this song makes for a great old-school slow dance) — but could just as easily be a friend or family member, for whom love survives against all odds," they added.

While the track has become a timeless anthem about love, it didn't top the charts, reaching No. 16 on Billboard Hot 100. It also landed at No. 21 on the Modern Rock Track chart. Many praised Hynde's vocals, calling them a "powerful, moving presence." Others also applauded her ability to go from hard-edged rocker to giving them "a gorgeous ballad" that tugged at the heartstrings.

"I'll Stand by You" also gained popularity years later when it was covered by hit artists like Carrie Underwood, the British girl group Girls Aloud, and Shakira. Girls Aloud covered the track as the official charity single for the 2004 Children in Need fundraising campaign. Underwood followed with the same idea in 2007 as a charity single for Idol Gives Back and entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 6.

In 2010, Shakira covered the track as a promotional charity single for the Hope for Haiti Now campaign. The popular series Glee also covered the track and entered the charts.

Controversial Rock the Country Music Festival Slashes Ticket Prices in Half

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:35pm

Rock the Country Music Festival shocked fans on Wednesday, Apr. 15, when they unexpectedly slashed their ticket prices in half.

"Fuel costs are up and we want to help! ⛽️ In response to rising transportation costs, you can enjoy up to 50% off general admission passes to any of 7 small town stops for a limited time only," the festival wrote via Instagram. "Use code FUEL for $59 single-day and $99 weekend GA tickets at rockthecountry.com while supplies last. Take advantage of this offer, fill up your tank and we’ll see you this summer! Promotion ends April 23rd at midnight ET."

In the same post, Rock the Country also announced that Staind would be replacing Jelly Roll for the Sioux Falls, South Dakota stop on June 28 due to scheduling conflicts.

In the comment section, fans expressed their disappointment that the discount was offered after many of them had already purchased tickets.

"where’s the discount for people who bought the day sales opened ??" wrote one fan. "We basically get punished for buying tickets right away?" commented another.

"so can i get a partial refund on the tickets i already bought, not very fair to discount the tickets after people bought them for full price," added a third.

This is far from the first controversy to hit the music festival—Rock the Country has seen four performers drop out since the lineup was announced in January.

The departures came shortly after the festival was dubbed a “MAGA fest” by critics online, as headliners like Kid Rock and Jason Aldean are vocal supporters of PresidentDonald Trump.

Rock the Country even had to call off their stop in Anderson, South Carolina after nearly all of the headlining artists pulled out.

In a statement to Parade on Feb. 9, Rock the Country said the festival “was created to unite people together through music. Our lineups and our crowds reflect that sentiment—a wide range of voices, backgrounds, and stories that make up this country.”

“Our focus remains where it’s always been: Supporting our artists, honoring our fans, and delivering unforgettable nights throughout the country,” the statement continued. “The shows ahead represent the heart of what Rock the Country stands for: music, community, and pride in where we come from. Loving America isn’t political; it’s who we are.”

Harrison Ford Says He Unintentionally Hummed the 'Indiana Jones' Theme While Filming 'Shrinking'

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:35pm

Harrison Fordrevealed that a Shrinking easter egg was entirely unintentional.

During an Apple FYC event on Sunday, April 12, Ford shared that the season 3 moment where his character is humming the Indiana Jones theme song was unplanned.

“I didn’t know that what I was … well, the melody that I was mouthing was ["The Raiders March"] from Indiana Jones," he said.

This revelation came when the cast discussed Ford's lengthy career and nods to his past that made it into the latest season of the comedy series. Ford said that he was just as surprised as viewers when watching the episodes back.

Being in them is different than watching them,” Ford said. “And it’s often surprising to me when I watch it.”

Ford's Shrinking co-star Jason Segal asked the actor is he thought he "made that up" when he was humming the song.

“No,” Ford responded. “I just thought it was some kind of familiar thing."

Ford then shared how the iconic theme song composed by John Williams has become a part of his everyday life.

“As I told John Williams in a speech at a tribute to him, they were playing that f***ing song when I went into the operating room for the colonoscopy,” he quipped.

Ford portrays Dr. Paul Rhoades in Shrinking, a senior therapist navigating Parkinson's disease. Shrinking's co-creator, Bill Lawrence, praised Ford at the FYC event for his portrayal of Parkinson's.

"It is a burden to play a real condition as an actor. I can’t do justice to how seriously Harrison takes that responsibility," Lawrence said.

All episodes of Shrinking all available to stream on Apple TV.

‘Temptation Island’ Reunion: Season 2 Cast Reveal They’re Filming

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:29pm

There was a lot of drama in Temptation Island Season 2. The final bonfires involved each couple alone sharing their final thoughts on their journey. They decided whether they would leave together, single, or with one of the new tempting singles.

It feels like there could be more closure with the whole cast reunited and sharing their thoughts. The cast finally showed they are filming one.

Summit Says the ‘Temptation Island’ Season 2 Reunion Is Loading View this post on Instagram

"Temptation Island Reunion loading...?" was written in a video Summit Wallace posted of himself in swim trunks. He then welcomed the other male stars one by one into frame. The video was posted on April 14.

The four female stars posed together for a video in their Instagram Stories and tagged the location in Hollywood on April 14. Everyone who was in a couple, except for Sydney McGregor and Mikey Bivens, stood together in another Instagram video. "Can you guess who is together now?" was written over their heads.

Nick Viall and Natalie Joy posted an Instagram video saying they will be at Netflix Is A Joke with the cast of Temptation Island on May 4 at 9:45 p.m. PT. The first season didn't have a reunion on Netflix.

Instead, The Viall Files hosted the reunion. The podcast recently did the same for season 1 of Age of Attraction. The episode was close to three hours long. This could mean season 2's reunion will be a deep dive into what happened on the island.

It's unclear if any of the tempters or temptresses will be at the reunion. A fan asked Xzavier Odom through his Instagram story if there will be a reunion episode. He posted a picture of himself in a horse stable and answered "Stay tuned" on April 14.

The popular game show, which was originally helmed by host Bob Barker from 1972 until 2007, and has been hosted by Drew Carey ever since, will air a live episode in prime time in December to coincide with the holiday season.

“Viewers gain unprecedented behind-the-scenes access alongside host Drew Carey, announcer George Gray, the models and the production team as they race to keep the show on track-resetting games, transforming the stage and beating the clock,” Paramount said in a statement, sharing that contestants will “play fan-favorite games Plinko, Cliffhangers and Lucky Seven, before spinning The Big Wheel for a shot at a luxury showcase – all played out live.”

An official air date for the historic Christmas special for the number one show in CBS’ daytime lineup has yet to be announced.

Though Paramount is seemingly leaning into its popular CBS game show, The Price Is Right was recently embroiled in controversy after a docuseries came out that alleged a hostile work environment, racism, and harassment behind the scenes in the show's earlier days.

Several former staffers and models appeared on the E! Series Dirty Rotten Scandals, where they talked about their own experiences working on the show during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, describing incidents that included alleged groping, inappropriate gawking, and feeling like they had to take harassment issues into their own hands during their tenures.

Costco's New $18 Suede Sandals Look Just Like a Designer Style Nearly 8x the Price

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:25pm

This new Costco find looks way more expensive than it is, and I cannot wait to snag a pair. They're perfect for a casual-chic look and ideal for vacations, errands or lounging around the house.

Costco is known for offering budget-friendly $18 suede sandals that look very similar to Birkenstocks, which usually cost a whopping $140. The price difference alone is enough to make shoppers do a double-take.

Why Suede Sandals Are So Popular View this post on Instagram

Suede flat sandals, like these Costco styles shown by @costco_empties, are a favorite for a reason. First, suede is soft and flexible. Unlike some stiff leather sandals, suede feels gentle against your skin. That makes these sandals a smart pick for all-day wear.

Another reason people love suede is the elevated look. The soft texture adds a rich feel to simple outfits. You can throw them on with jeans, a skirt or a breezy dress and instantly look more put together. This Costco find proves that you do not have to spend a fortune to get that stylish finish.

Suede sandals are also great transitional shoes. They work in the heat of summer but can easily carry into early fall. Pair them with shorts now and cozy knitwear later. These sandals come in two neutral shades—black and brown.

Why This Costco Find Is Getting Attention

This Birkenstock dupe from Costco checks a lot of boxes. The flat design is easy and casual. The buckle details add a chic touch without being over the top. They're exactly the kind of sandals you can slip on and go.

They would be perfect for spring and summer vacations. Imagine packing one pair of sandals that works with everything from poolside outfits to dinner by the beach. That is the beauty of a simple suede style.

Of course, there is one thing to remember. Suede is not waterproof. It can absorb water easily, which may cause stains or damage. If you pick up this Costco find, it is best to avoid wearing them in the rain or in other wet conditions. You can use a protective spray to help make them more water-resistant, but they are still better suited for dry days.

At just $18, this Birkenstock dupe feels like a total steal. Costco has done it again with a stylish sandal that looks designer-inspired without the designer price tag.

Alexander Dumas’s Didn’t Write His 1846 Masterpiece Alone — And He Went to Court Over It

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:23pm

You know of Alexander Dumas’s work. The Three Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask are both two that will stand out, and right now, there is a third thanks to a PBS adaptation. The Count of Monte Cristo is considered one of the best revenge stories ever told, and there’s no doubt that the PBS adaptation has brought to life exactly why that is.

Originally a serialized story in the Journal des Débats between 1844 and 1846, The Count of Monte Cristo was published fully as a novel after the last segment in 1846. At the time, only Dumas was credited as the writer, but he had help, and that help would eventually take him to court.

Alexander Dumas Teamed Up with Auguste Maquet on Multiple Stories

The Count of Monte Cristo was just one of the many novels Dumas turned to writer Auguste Maquet to help develop. Maquet would handle the initial plot lines and the in-depth historical research to ensure the best story was told. It was from there that Dumas would develop the characters and dialogue.

Maquet was never credited for any of the work done, even in the original publications of the work. Eventually, he decided it was time to take Dumas to court, and it turned out that 18 novels in total included his involvement, including the popular The Three Musketeers. While Maquet is still not named as an official co-author, he did win royalties and now he is mentioned as a “collaborator.”

The Prison Is Just One True Part of ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’

There are a few elements of The Count of Monte Cristo that needed research, and one of those was the Château d'If, which was a real state prison in 1580. It was a prison mostly for high-profile political foes and religious dissidents, so it would make sense that someone like Edmund would end up there.

The part that doesn’t fit history is the escape. There were no recorded escapes. Of course, that doesn’t mean there weren’t escapes. Why would a prison like that want a record of any sort of failure? There weren’t as many checks and balances in the past, but it is just a small sign of the research Maquet did to make Dumas’s novels feel like they could be real.

The Count of Monte Cristo adaptation currently airs on Sundays at 10/9c on PBS and streams on PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video and PBS Passport.

1996 Hit Film Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’

Wed, 04/15/2026 - 4:18pm

In 1996, a horror film arrived in theaters that would completely change the rules of the genre.

Scream, directed by Wes Craven, has since been ranked among the best movies of all time by Collider, thanks to its innovative storytelling and lasting cultural impact.

Set in the fictional town of Woodsboro, the film follows a group of teenagers targeted by a masked killer known as Ghostface. Blending slasher thrills with self-aware humor, Scream cleverly plays with, and often subverts, the classic tropes of horror films, creating something that felt entirely fresh at the time.

One of the film's most shocking moments comes right at the beginning. Drew Barrymore, who was the biggest star attached to the project at the time, appears prominently in the opening scene. Audiences expected her to be the film's lead, making it all the more surprising when her character is brutally killed just minutes into the movie. The twist, one of Barrymore's own invention, immediately signaled that Scream was willing to break expectations.

"In the horror film genre, my biggest pet peeve was that I always knew the main character was going to be slugging through at the end, but was going to creak by and make it," Barrymore said in a 2020 interview. "What I wanted to do is to take that comfort zone away. I asked if I could be Casey Becker so we would establish this rule does not apply in this film."

The film also features standout performances from Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, helping to ground the film's mix of suspense and satire.

Scream was both a critical and commercial success, revitalizing the slasher genre at a time when it had begun to fade. Its sharp script, memorable characters and unexpected twists influenced a wave of horror films that followed.

"Scream is a great example of something that is very innovative and has drawn top talent, inspired by great scripts written by Kevin (Williamson)," Craven told Interview Magazine. "It has allowed me to do some of my best work and most popular work. Kevin is a great writer, and I love doing his material. I also like doing films that I write myself."

Nearly 30 years later, the film remains a defining entry in horror history and has led to several sequels, with Scream 7 released earlier this year.

With its inclusion in Collider's ranking, Scream stands as a testament to the power of reinvention and a reminder that sometimes the most iconic moments come when audiences least expect them.
