Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:06pm

Victoria Konefal is opening up about a potential return to the Peacock streaming soap opera Days of Our Lives as the legacy daughter of Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso).

While promoting her film Scared to Death, Konefal spoke with Markos Papadatos of Digital Journal about her future plans, including acting and her upcoming rock album.

During the interview, she addressed the possibility of returning to the long-running soap. “I would love to go back to Salem at some point,” she said.

The Daytime Emmy Winner added, “I am not opposed! I would love to revisit Ciara Brady because she is a huge part of my career and the shaping of who I am.”

“I miss her,” Konefal continued. “I would love to play her again.”

Konefal joined Days of Our Lives in 2017 as Ciara Brady and was part of the full-time cast until 2020, when she shifted to recurring status. Since then, she has appeared periodically, most recently in 2025 during her on-screen father Bo Brady’s (Peter Reckell) return and exit storyline.

The role of Ciara was originated by child actors Dakoda and Danica Hobbs in 2007, before Lauren Boles assumed the role in 2008, with Vivian Jovanni aging the character up into high school in 2015.

During her time on the show, Konefal became a fan favorite for her pairing with Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson). The couple, known to fans as ‘Cin’ (Ciara and Ben), married on July 22, 2020 and later welcomed two children, Bo Weston and Addie Weston named after Ciara’s father and maternal grandmother.

Seniors Love This Fast-Food Chain Way More Than Younger Diners, New Study Finds

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 7:05pm

For a lot of us, ordering fast food is basically muscle memory. You pull into the drive-thru and don't even glance at the menu—you already know exactly what you're getting. Because you aren't there to overthink things or explore new options, this is strictly about comfort and routine. Our go-to orders become part of our personal playbook, especially when we're hungry and in a hurry.

But here's where it gets interesting: a new study examining fast-food habits shows that those default choices aren't as random as they seem. In fact, they say a lot about how different age groups approach food, convenience and even nostalgia. Some chains that younger generations barely think about are still absolute staples for older adults. Like, for example, those 65 and up are fiercely loyal to one particular fast-food spot that's kind of fallen off the radar for younger crowds.

Courtesy Wendy's

According to YouGov's Best Bites 2026 report, 30 percent of Americans hit up fast food joints weekly, with McDonald's the most "considered" brand when people are in the mood for something quick. However, when you look at the generational breakdowns of where different age groups head most often, a certain segment bypasses the Golden Arches in favor of another chain.

Among the 65-and-over crowd, the most considered fast-food brand is Wendy's, garnering 31.3 percent of respondents' votes. It beat out McDonald's by just 0.1 percent for that demo. Now that might not seem like a lot, but when you note that Wendy's only clocks in at No. 3 among those age 45–64; at No. 4 among 30–44 year olds; and all the way down at No. 6 for the 19–29 year old segment, the stat feels more interesting.

Why Are Boomers Still Relatively Loyal Wendy's Patrons?

The report doesn't explore that, but it's likely a question on the minds of Wendy's execs. When the company shared its 2025 fourth-quarter financial highlights, it was clear it had made less money overall. This is mostly because its existing U.S. locations weren't bringing in as much business as before. However, opening new locations helped make up for some of that loss—but not enough to fully offset it.

So which fast-food chain was tops among the other three age groups studied for the YouGov report? It was McDonald's first across the rest of the board, with Chick-fil-A coming in second. (Though it's tied with Taco Bell among the 30-to-40-year-old contingency.)

Jamie Ding’s ‘Full Circle’ Moment With Late Alex Trebek Sparks Buzz Amid 'Jeopardy!' Winning Streak

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 6:38pm

Fans of Jeopardy! are buzzing after contestant Jamie Ding sparked attention for a surprising connection to the show’s late, longtime host, Alex Trebek.

Ding, who is currently in the middle of a standout and closely-watched run on the quiz show, has drawn renewed interest not just for his performance on the game show stage, but for a lesser-known piece of trivia from his past.

Before appearing on Jeopardy! as an adult, Ding previously competed in the National Geographic Bee, a prestigious academic competition that Trebek hosted for many years.

His earlier appearance as a young contestant has now resurfaced online as fans connect the dots between the two moments in his life, saying it’s all come full circle.

During a recent Jeopardy! episode, Ding briefly acknowledged his momentary encounter with Trebek, with fans expressing that he recalled struggling to recognize Trebek at first because he’d shaved his iconic mustache.

The photo was shared on the Jeopardy! Reddit page, with many praising it for being “completely adorable."

"He’s a really likable champion," another viewer mused.

“Talk about meant to be. This is some full circle ish,” someone else declared.

Others couldn’t help but point out that Ding waited till he was at least 20 consecutive games in to drop the fun fact about Trebek, stating, “I’ll wait a few weeks. Then, on my 21st episode, BAM, I’ll hit ‘em with the Trebek anecdote,” as another emphasized of his confidence, “He knew he had time.”

A few also expressed that the date on the check is May 26, 2004, which is “exactly one week before Ken Jennings's winning streak,” putting the timeline in perspective and making many feel "old."

Legendary champ Jennings, who stepped behind the podium following Trebek’s death in 2020, holds the record for Consecutive Games Won, Highest Winnings in Regular-Season play and is in the number 2 spot for All-Time winnings, per the Jeopardy Leaderboardof Legends

So far, Ding has tied Jennings’ record for the most-correct responses in a single game, as they are the only two players to get 45 clues right, per People

Jennings had a 74-game run for a total of $2,520,700, which the late Trebek told PEOPLE in 2019 made him “shed a tear” when it was finally over.

“This marvelous streak had suddenly come to an end. And it will never be matched. By anybody,” he said at the time.

As Ding’s winning streak continues—he's currently won 22 consecutive games, bringing his total winnings to $627,600 as of April 13—audiences are watching closely to see where he’ll rank and what records he’ll beat, including whether he’ll have what it takes to overthrow Jennings for the top spot.

2008 Hit Film Ranked Among 'The Best Movies of All Time' Is a Sequel

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 6:36pm

Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight became an unlikely masterpiece when it was released in 2008. Not only is it a superhero movie, focusing on Batman (Christian Bale) trying to defeat The Joker (Heath Ledger), but it's also a sequel.

While Nolan began his Batman trilogy with the 2005 film, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight is the more acclaimed of the two. Ledger's take on Joker famously won him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2009, following his death in 2008. Rotten Tomatoes also ranked The Dark Knight as the 155th best movie of all time, with a score of 94 percent.

Nolan, who directed and co-wrote the film, discussed how Batman Begins and The Dark Knight differ in a July 2008 promotional interview. He explained that Batman Begins is an origin story for Batman, which focuses on the trauma related to the deaths of his parents. By the time The Dark Knight begins, the character of Batman, aka Billionaire Bruce Wayne, is "fully-realized." In addition, the film examines Batman grappling with the Joker's unhinged, violent presence in Gotham.

"The Joker absolutely delights in destabilizing, you know, people's views of the world. And Bruce Wayne as Batman has a very, very knife edge kind of set of morals, really. He's working outside the law but he's working for good so he's very vulnerable to that," explained Nolan in the interview.

In addition, Nolan complimented both Bale and Ledger for their acting abilities. He said he was particularly impressed with Ledger for being able to shake off his unnerving version of The Joker when he called cut.

"To be able to sort of channel that anarchic, horrendous character that is so unlike, who Heath was, you know, he was such a lovely guy, it's pretty amazing to watch an actor, you know, do that, turn that on in front of the camera. And then walk off set and have a chat with him," recalled Nolan.

1988 No. 1 New Age Hit Became a Timeless 'Pop Culture Anthem'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 6:31pm

For decades, music lovers in need of some rest and relaxation have trusted in the talents of one particular singer to lower their blood pressure a few points: Ireland's biggest-selling solo artist of all time, the incomparable Enya.

Ireland’s biggest-selling solo artist, Enya (Eithne Ní Bhraonáin) is a unique success story in more ways than one. Not only does her music sound like nobody else's, but she's managed to sell approximately 80,000,000 records worldwide (including over 25,000,000 in the U.S.) over the course of her career without touring. In fact, she rarely ever performs live at all. And of course, it all started with her first iconic hit: "Orinoco Flow."

Released as the first single from Enya's 1988 album Watermark, "Orinoco Flow" was a massive worldwide success. It topped the U.K. Singles Chart for three weeks and hit #1 in a number of other countries, as well, including Belgium, Ireland, the Netherlands and Switzerland, peaking at #24 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

As American Songwriter reported, "Orinoco Flow" was named after both the London studio where it was recorded and a 1,400-mile river in South America, which is fitting considering the song is all about sailing away on various bodies of water:

"From Bissau to Palau, in the shade of Avalon / From Fiji to Tiree and the Isles of Ebony / From Peru to Cebu hear the power of Babylon / From Bali to Cali, far beneath the Coral Sea"

While the massive popularity of "Orinoco Flow" did lead to the song being considered something of a new age cliché for a time, it's now viewed as a kind of "pop culture anthem," as music journalist Tim Greiving of The Ringer put it. In addition to being featured in countless TV shows, movies and commercials, "Orinoco Flow" was nominated for two Grammys in the categories of Best Music Video and Best New Age Performance. As for Enya, she's now one of the bestselling musicians of all time — not to mention one of the most private.

Enya lives in a secluded castle with her cats

While she avoids doing press for the most part, Enya revealed her favorite thing about living in a secluded castle in Ireland with her pet cats during an interview with The Guardian in 2015: The stunning views.

“In the morning I open the shutters — you’ll note in the castle it’s shutters, not curtains — and I look out onto the Irish sea,” she said. “It’s beautiful and very inspirational.”

As Enya told The Irish Times that same year, her focus has always been on music, not fame.

"From the beginning, with Watermark, the success came with the music," she explained. "People loved enjoying listening to 'Orinoco Flow' and then the album — but they didn't know if [Enya] was a band; they didn't know anything...because the focus was on the music, firstly, I didn't know that I had to become famous to sell it."

"There's no rulebook, so I felt like if I was younger, maybe I would have done things differently," Enya continued. "But I was 27, I was really excited about the music — and therefore, I asked questions about the interviews and the promotion that I was doing. I'd say, 'What does this entail? Does it focus on the music? Or is it going to make me more famous?' And sometimes, when it was more focused on me, I actually would refuse, because I didn't feel the necessity. I wasn't looking for the fame; it was more the success that I enjoyed."

Enya certainly found success, and on her own terms, too.

“Longevity is all any artist dreams of,” she added in the same interview. “It is something you really feel good about, when your albums are still listened to.”

Pabst Blue Ribbon Fans Say They're 'Intrigued and Horrified' by This New Collab With Grillo's Pickles

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 6:15pm

If there's one thing American food culture loves right now, it's a fearless collaboration—and Pabst Blue Ribbon has officially entered its "hold my beer" era. The iconic Midwest beer brand has teamed up with cult-favorite pickle makers Grillo's Pickles to launch a limited-edition pickle beer that's already making waves across social media. And yes, it tastes exactly as briny, bold and conversation-starting as it sounds.

Pabst Blue Ribbon's Pickle Beer Drop Is as Wild as It Sounds View this post on Instagram

The new release, simply dubbed PBR x Grillo's Pickle Beer, blends Pabst Blue Ribbon's classic light lager profile with Grillo's sharp, dill-forward punch. Early descriptions point to a beer that's tangy and refreshing, with a salty snap designed to mimic the experience of biting into a crisp pickle straight from the jar.

It's the kind of flavor idea that makes you pause, laugh and then immediately text a friend, "We have to try this."

PBR and Grillo's Fans React to the Pickle Beer News

Unsurprisingly, the internet is already doing what it does best—reacting loudly. While full consumer reviews are still trickling in ahead of its retail rollout, early social buzz is a mix of curiosity and chaos.

One Instagram commenter summed up the mood perfectly, writing, "I don't like beer and I don't LOVE pickles, but for some reason I'm curious," while another exclaimed, "Not gonna lie, I'm going to annihilate this." Others reacted with, "the pickle council needs to slow their roll," and "the pickle infatuation has gone too far."

The rollout strategy suggests PBR is leaning all the way into the spectacle. The beer will be available at major retailers nationwide—including Walmart, Safeway, Publix and Total Wine & More—starting May 4, while supplies last. That limited-drop energy only adds to the hype, turning what could have been a novelty shelf item into a must-try moment for curious drinkers.

At its core, this collaboration fits neatly into a growing trend of boundary-pushing food-and-beverage mashups. From pickle-flavored everything to savory-sweet soda experiments, consumers are increasingly open to flavors that would have sounded unthinkable a decade ago. The PBR x Grillo's release is less about replacing your go-to beer and more about asking a very simple question: What happens when two comfort foods collide in one very briny can?

Whether you see it as genius innovation or an elaborate prank on your taste buds, one thing is certain—this pickle beer is going to get people talking long after the last sip.

1992 Hit Ranked Among ‘Best Movies of All Time’

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 5:52pm

In 1992, Aladdin arrived in theaters and quickly became one of the most beloved animated films of its generation.

The Disney classic has since been ranked among the best movies of all time by Rotten Tomatoes, a testament to its enduring popularity and cultural impact.

Set in the fictional city of Agrabah, Aladdin is based on the Middle Eastern folktale "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" from One Thousand and One Nights, also known as Arabian Nights. The movie follows a street-smart young man who discovers a magical lamp containing a powerful Genie. With the help of newfound magic, he sets out to win the heart of Princess Jasmine while facing off against the villainous Jafar. The film blends adventure, romance and humor, creating a story that appeals to audiences of all ages.

At the center of its success is the unforgettable performance by Robin Williams, who voiced the Genie. His rapid-fire comedic delivery, improvisational style and larger-than-life energy brought the character to life in a way that redefined voice acting in animation. The role became one of the most iconic of his career and helped set a new standard for animated performances.

The film was also a major success at the box office and went on to win two Academy Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "A Whole New World." Its soundtrack and memorable musical numbers contributed to its widespread appeal.

In an interview, Scott Weinger, who voiced the role of Aladdin, recalled the first moment he meant his legendary co-star. He said, "I'm Scott, I play Aladdin," and Williams replied, "Well, I'll be your genie."

"It was such a surreal moment," Weinger continued. "I've talked about it so much and I remember it a certain way, and memories sort of change with the years, but I was very lucky that there's footage of us recording together."

Aladdin played a key role in Disney's animation renaissance of the late 20th century, standing alongside other hits of the era that revitalized the studio’s global influence.

More than three decades later, the film continues to resonate with audiences, thanks to its timeless story, vibrant animation and standout performances.

With its inclusion on Rotten Tomatoes' list, Aladdin remains a defining animated classic, one that continues to enchant new generations while holding a special place in the hearts of longtime fans.

1946 Box Office Flop Became One of the 'Greatest Movies of All Time'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 5:41pm

It’s a Wonderful Life is now considered one of the greatest and most beloved movies ever made—but when it was first released in 1946, it was a box office disappointment.

Directed by Frank Capra and starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, the film tells the story of a man who sacrifices his own dreams to help others, only to question his life’s worth on Christmas Eve. With the help of his guardian angel, Clarence (Henry Travers), he’s shown what the world would look like if he had never been born.

Despite its now-iconic status, the film struggled financially during its initial run. It needed to make about $6.3 million to break even—roughly double its production cost—but fell well short of that mark, ultimately being viewed as a commercial failure at the time.

Part of the challenge was timing. Released just after World War II, the film’s sentimental tone and introspective story didn’t fully connect with audiences expecting lighter entertainment. It also faced strong competition at the box office, which further limited its initial reach.

But the story didn’t end there.

Decades later, It’s a Wonderful Life found a second life thanks to an unexpected twist: its copyright lapsed in 1974, allowing television stations to air it freely. As it became a staple of holiday programming, new generations of viewers discovered its message of hope, community, and resilience.

Today, the film is widely regarded as a classic, frequently appearing on lists of the greatest movies ever made. The American Film Institute ranked it No. 11 on the list of the Greateest Films of All Time and named it the most inspirational American movie of all time; IMDB users have ranked it as No. 21 on the list of Top 250 Movies of All Time.

What began as a box office disappointment ultimately became something far more lasting—a film that continues to resonate with audiences nearly 80 years later, proving that sometimes a story just needs time to find its place.

Fans Baffled After Guy Fieri Caught Greeting 'Mayor of Misogyny Town’

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 5:33pm

Not everyone was cheering Guy Fieri at UFC 327.

The celebrity chef drew backlash after video from Saturday's Miami event showed him leaning over a railing to greet brothers Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate with a handshake and shoulder bump.

Critics flooded social media, with many saying the moment left a bad taste.

Andrew is currently under investigation in the United Kingdom on suspicion of assault and abuse, while he and Tristan both face human trafficking charges in Romania — allegations both brothers deny.

The self-described misogynist has also cultivated millions of fans online through his extreme masculine ideals, making him one of the manosphere's most prominent figures.

Fieri's fans, it's fair to say, were not exactly thrilled to see him cozying up to the brothers, and more than a few may have demoted themselves to former fans by the end of the clip.

— Spinnin Backfist (@SpinninBackfist) April 12, 2026

“@GuyFieri you’re pathetic,” wrote one user on X. “How is @FoodNetwork ok with this?!?” another added.

“Instead of Flavor Town, go to H*** @GuyFieri,” a third wrote. “This is gross.”

On Instagram, another added, “I'm really looking forward to the explanation for this one, the ‘Mayor of Flavor Town’ having a blast with the ‘Mayor of Misogyny Town.’”

“I wonder what all the female chefs on the Guy Fieri Network are going to think about this, or is the money worth it,” one fan wrote.

The brothers were taken into custody in Romania in December 2022 over human trafficking allegations, remaining in detention for several months as a pre-trial precaution. A Bucharest appeals court eased those restrictions in 2023, first moving them to house arrest before eventually requiring only routine check-ins with police.

Last week, a Romanian court lifted all remaining legal restrictions on the pair — though their legal troubles are far from over.

The brothers face 21 charges in the U.K., including trafficking and assault, and have been ordered to be extradited once Romanian proceedings are finished. Both men, dual citizens of the U.S. and U.K., deny any wrongdoing.

Beloved 'Little Rascals' Child Star Arrested

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 5:31pm

Bug Hall's name might ring a bell for anyone who grew up watching The Little Rascals. He's back in the news, though not for reasons fans would hope.

According to documents obtained by TMZ on Monday, April 13, the 41-year-old was charged with failure to appear for a court date back on  December 31, 2024. The original issue dates back to October 2024, when Hall was hit with a traffic citation for not having liability insurance.

The arrest is the latest development in what has been a turbulent few years for the former child star. Hall left Hollywood in 2020 after being arrested for allegedly huffing air duster cans during a visit to his parents in Weatherford, Texas, which he’s spoken openly about. He was booked on a misdemeanor possession charge, though he told The Daily Mail back in January he faced no charges.

The relapse came after 15 years of sobriety, and Hall said Hollywood's high-pressure environment had contributed to struggles he felt were largely swept under the rug.

Rather than return to the entertainment industry, Hall went off the grid. He told the outlet that he has taken "a vow of poverty" and relocated his family (wife Jill and their five children) to an 80-acre plot near Mountain View, Arkansas, where he plans to build an off-the-grid home.Beyond The Little Rascals, Hall also appeared in Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, The Stupids, as well as TV shows including Castle, Masters of Sex, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

On the episode dropping on Monday, April 20, Plaza broke the news to the hosts after recounting a story where she suffered a stroke in 2004. Hayes asked Plaza if she would ever take birth control again to which she said, "Well, there's a baby inside."

Plaza then clarified, "No, I said there is a baby inside of me right now."

The three hosts congratulated her on the "very exciting news" to which Plaza responded with, "I know, it's very shocking."

When asked if she was excited about becoming a mom, Plaza told Hayes, "I've always wanted to see what that's all about, you know? It just seems so interesting, that whole thing,."

Arnett, who has starred alongside Plaza in numerous projects over the years, said, "I just think that you're such a great person and I love you so much. I'm really happy for you."

1992 Power Ballad Named No. 1 Hit Song Became an Anthem of Unconditional Love

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 5:15pm

In 1992, Guns N' Roses released a song that would become one of the most ambitious and emotionally powerful ballads in rock history.

Their hit, "November Rain." climbed to No. 1 on the Cash Box Top 100, solidifying its place as a defining track of the era. Known for its sweeping orchestration and nearly nine-minute runtime, the song pushed the boundaries of what a rock single could be.

Written by frontman Axl Rose, "November Rain" blends hard rock with classical influences, featuring dramatic piano melodies, layered instrumentation and one of the most memorable guitar solos by Slash. The result is a song that feels both grand in scale and deeply personal in emotion.

Lyrically, the track explores themes of love, loss and the fragility of relationships, capturing the idea that even the strongest connections can be tested over time. Its message of enduring love despite hardship and heartbreak helped it resonate with listeners and transform it into an anthem of unconditional love.

Writing the song didn't come easy to Rose, however.

"When we were doing that EP for L.A. Guns, in like '83? He was playing 'November Rain' – and it was called 'November Rain' – you know, on piano," former Guns N' Roses guitarist Tracii Guns said in an interview. "Way back then, it was the only thing he knew how to play, but it was his. He'd go, 'Someday this song is gonna be really cool.' And I'd go, 'It's cool now.' 'But it's not done,' you know, he used to say. And, like, anytime we'd be at a hotel or anywhere, there'd be a piano; he'd just kinda play that music. And I'd go, 'When are you gonna finish that already?' And he'd go, 'I don’t know what to do with it.'"

Finally, Rose decided it was ready to release into the world. "The song "November Rain" was featured on the band's album Use Your Illusion I, a record that marked a creative peak for the group and showcased their willingness to experiment with sound and structure.

"November Rain" also became known for its cinematic music video, which remains one of the most iconic of all time, further amplifying the song's emotional impact and cultural reach.

More than three decades later, the track continues to stand as a landmark achievement in rock music, an epic, timeless anthem that captures the highs and lows of love with unmatched intensity.

1967 Hit Film Ranked Among 'Best Movies of All Time'

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 5:14pm

To some, he's known as "Butch Cassidy." To other film buffs, Paul Newman will forever be dubbed Cool Hand Luke.

The Oscar-winning drama added yet another stunning role to the late actor's impressive list — and it helps that the film overall was a remarkable and thought-provoking end result.

It's no wonder Cool Hand Luke, from director Stuart Rosenberg, ranks inside the top 25 on Rotten Tomatoes' list of 300 Best Movies of All Time. Here's the film's official synopsis:

When petty criminal Luke Jackson (Newman) is sentenced to two years in a Florida prison farm, he doesn't play by the rules of either the sadistic warden (Strother Martin) or the yard's resident heavy, Dragline (George Kennedy), who ends up admiring the new guy's unbreakable will. Luke's bravado, even in the face of repeated stints in the prison's dreaded solitary confinement cell, "the box," make him a rebel hero to his fellow convicts and a thorn in the side of the prison officers.

The movie remains at a 100% critics' consensus on Rotten Tomatoes after all these decades. Speaking of, the 1967 release is nearing its whopping 60th anniversary.

The late, great film critic Roger Ebert gave Cool Hand Luke four out four stars, writing in his review, "Luke is the first Newman character to understand himself well enough to tell us to shove off. He’s through risking his neck to make us happy. With this film, Newman completes a cycle of five films over six years, and together they have something to say about the current status of heroism. Whether this was anyone’s original intention is doubtful. But “Cool Hand Luke” does draw together threads from the earlier movies, especially “Hombre,” and it is a tough, honest film with backbone.

Whether it's Cool Hand Luke, The Sting, or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Newman will forever go down as Hollywood royalty.

Beloved TV Show Becomes ABC’s 3rd Longest-Running Drama With Renewal News

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 4:49pm

The Rookie has officially been renewed for season 9, making the popular TV show the third longest-running drama in ABC’s history.

ABC announced the renewal news on Monday, April 13. As The Rookie prepares for its ninth season, it trails behind only Grey’s Anatomy and NYPD Blue in the race for the network’s longest-running drama. Grey’s Anatomy is currently airing its 22nd season and has already been renewed for a 23rd, while NYPD Blue ran for 12 seasons from 1993 to 2005.

In its ninth season, The Rookie will tie with Dynasty and The F.B.I. as the third longest-running ABC drama ever. With both airing for nine seasons, Dynasty was on from 1981 to 1989, while The F.B.I. was on from 1965 to 1974.

TV fans may wonder why 9-1-1 doesn’t outrank The Rookie since the former is heading into its 10th season. However, 9-1-1 first aired on Fox for six seasons before moving to ABC in 2024.

The Rookie creator Alexi Hawley reacted to the show’s renewal on Monday, telling Deadline, “So far, the mindset across the board is, as [cast member] Melissa O’Neil said, ‘Let’s Grey’s Anatomy this thing.’”

Hawley assured fans that the show’s storyline potential is still rich despite its longevity.

“I think everybody is having a good time, it’s a cast that truly loves each other and enjoys coming to work, they get to do fun stuff every day,” he explained. “And at this point, heading into season 9, I don’t feel like we’re anywhere near out of ideas. Part of that is we’re not a procedural where I have to come up with a body drop every week. We really can reinvent ourselves a lot, and that helps with not feeling like we’re running out of story. Every time you bring in a new rookie or a new character, that also changes things. So, yeah, I would do this until they turn the lights out.”

Disney/John Russo

Despite being in its eighth season, The Rookie has experienced an uptick in viewership, achieving its most watched season ever on streaming. Hawley speculated about what keeps fans intrigued after all these years as well as draws in new viewers.

“I do think that ultimately the success of the show is partly because from week to week, the audience really doesn’t know what version of The Rookie they’re going to get,” he said. “Is it going to be a big fun event in the episode? Is it going to be more comedic or romantic or scary? I like switching things up, I like that sort of energy of it.”

The Rookie stars Nathan Fillion (John Nolan), Mekia Cox (Nyla Harper), Alyssa Diaz (Angela Lopez), Richard T. Jones (Wade Grey), O’Neil (Lucy Chen), Eric Winter (Tim Bradford), Jenna Dewan (Bailey Nune), Shawn Ashmore (Wesley Evers), Lisseth Chavez (Celina Juarez) and Deric Augustine (Miles Penn).

There are three episodes of The Rookie’s eighth season remaining. The finale is scheduled to air on May 4.

The Rookie airs on ABC Mondays at 10 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.

Is Finola Hughes Coming Back to ‘General Hospital’?

Mon, 04/13/2026 - 4:48pm

General Hospital fans' favorite Finola Hughes (Anna) has been off the canvas for months.

Back in October, Anna was kidnapped by Sidwell (Carlo Rotta), Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), and Pascal (Marc Forget) as she got too close to exposing their involvement in Faison's (Anders Hove) final project.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

The kidnapping coincided with Hughes' annual time off from the ABC soap. However, this time around, it seems like the actress has been off-screen for much longer than in the past.

Is Anna Coming Back to General Hospital?

Fans have been eagerly waiting and wondering when Hughes and Anna would return to the show. There is good news on that front, thanks to General Hospital star Chris McKenna (Jack).

When a fan on X mentioned that Anna needs to come back to take down Sidwell down, and a different fan declared that Hughes is missed, McKenna chimed in to say, “Finola is on her way back!”

Finola is on her way back!

— Chris L. McKenna (@ChrisLMcKenna) April 13, 2026

The actor didn’t give any details on what that means but May sweeps is looming and that would be a perfect time for Anna to resurface in Port Charles.

Fans were appreciative of McKenna letting them know the soap legend would be back on the small screen soon.

Where Has Anna Been on General Hospital?

Hughes did make a couple of brief appearances to take the kidnapping story to a different level. During February sweeps, Anna was suddenly free from the kidnapping and was found in France suffering a mental breakdown.

General Hospital fans know that Sidwell and Cullum set it up so Anna would believe Faison was alive and stalking her family, especially her granddaughter, Emma (Braedyn Bruner). However Anna’s family like Emma, Felicia (Kristina Wagner) and Mac (John J. York) believe that Anna had a mental breakdown.

Last week, Emma told Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Joss (Eden McCoy) that Anna was still struggling. Those scenes were filmed about six weeks ago, so fans should get a more positive update on Anna soon.

Fans should be on the lookout for Finola Hughes and super spy Anna Devane to be back in the Port Charles mix before summer.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
