If you’re a grandparent, you might not be thinking about making a big impact on your grandkids; you're just doing the best you can and putting their needs first. You might show your love and care for your grandchildren in various ways, whether that’s being a naturally nurturing, “slow-living” and/or emotionally strong grandparent. You might value staying especially close to your grandkids, even when they live far away, or have a lot of insight into what kids need to hear from you.

Those are just some examples of wonderful traits and habits you might naturally have, or that you could build on as your relationship with the grandchild grows. What those traits and habits can lead to—other than meaningful relationships—is you being a highly respected grandparent. One who cares, loves and pays attention to their grandchildren (among other important things). 

If you’re not there already, or you want to continue becoming the best grandma or grandpa you can be, what can you do? Which habit is most common among highly respectedgrandparents, and what does it look like in practice? What are other meaningful habits you should prioritize practicing? 

To answer those questions and more, Parade reached out to a psychologist who works with families. As it turns out, there are lots of ways to be a highly respected grandparent—with one being particularly key—and those habits can bring great value to your relationships.

What Are Some Qualities of a Good Grandparent?

Prepare yourself: You may be surprised here.

“Being a great grandparent isn’t about how much you can give or how much you know,” says Dr. Golee Abrishami, PhD, a psychologist and the Vice President of Clinical Care at Octave. “Being a great grandparent is all about presence, warmth and showing a genuine interest in who your grandchild is becoming.”

And having a strong, healthy relationship with your grandchildren can have significant, positive impacts on the child’s emotional well-being.

The #1 Habit of Highly Respected Grandparents, According to a Family Psychologist

The main habit to focus on—the one that highly respected grandparents share—is showing up, even when it’s hard.

“Life is busy, and when the little ones aren’t your own children, it can be easy to let the busyness of life quietly push those visits and calls lower on your to-do list,” Dr. Abrishami tells Parade. “Grandparents who are respected and remembered are the ones who showed up often.”

That doesn’t mean solely for major life milestones, either. Show up on a random afternoon, go to a regular season game or call your grandkids without a major reason.

“Children don’t need grand gestures; they need consistency,” she adds. “Being reliable builds a close bond, and it also builds a child’s sense of worth.”

How To Be a Highly Respected Grandparent: 5 Other Common Habits

While showing up is the main habit to practice, highly respected grandparents also share other habits, which are explained below.

1. Being present

It’s important to remember to practice this habit when you’re showing up. Don’t be there just physically; be there fully. Give your grandkids your full attention. Put your phone away and engage in child-led play. 

“Undivided attention is one of the greatest gifts you can give a child,” Dr. Abrishami shares. “By giving them your attention, you’re telling them that they matter… you’re showing them that their thoughts and feelings are important to you.”

2. Sharing family history and personal struggles 

For a grandkid, knowing where their family came from and how their family overcame challenges can give them a sense of identity and belonging that “nothing else can replicate,” according to Dr. Abrishami.

“Those stories become part of how a child understands themselves and builds a sense of belonging and personal history,” she explains. “Respected grandparents share their life stories not just with the intention to teach, but genuinely to relate and bond.”

3. Knowing when to step in and when to step out

Grandparents have a different role than parents do: They support the parents.

“They show that they trust the parents’ judgment, and they leave their opinions at the door,” Dr. Abrishami says. “Yet, they are willing to offer advice or be a listening ear if the parent is seeking guidance.”

This helps create a healthy family dynamic.

4. Creating traditions and rituals

This can look all kinds of ways: a standing weekly dinner; a secret recipe that only the family knows; or a special nickname, for example. These traditions can give a grandchild joy, stability and self-worth.

“These rituals become anchors in a child’s memory and the things they will talk about for the rest of their lives,” Dr. Abrishami says.

5. Staying curious about the child’s world

While questions like, “How was school today?” have their place, get particularly curious about the ins and outs of your grandchild’s life. Ask genuine questions about their hobbies and friends. 

“Better yet, [highly respected grandparents] actually listen after they ask questions, and they often ask follow-up questions,” Dr. Abrishami adds. “Instead of letting parents relay information about the kids, grandparents intentionally go directly to the kids to learn about them and build a one-to-one relationship.”

One of the late '80s' biggest power ballads was actually created for one of Tom Cruise's highest-grossing films, and a classic. In 1986, new wave Los Angeles-based band Berlin performed the movie's title songs, which went on to win an Oscar, a Grammy, and was tagged as one of the best rock power ballads.

The action drama Top Gun cemented a young Cruise as one of Hollywood's A-list action stars. Based on an article by Ehud Yonay, the film follows Lieutenant Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Cruise), a young naval aviator. He and his radar intercept officer, Lieutenant Nick "Goose" Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards), are given the chance to train at Top Gun, the Navy's top Fighter Weapons School.

Top Gun dominated the box office, grossing over $357 million, and went on to become a cult classic, with its innovative filming style of real Navy aircrafts. The film was also tagged as having one of the most popular movie soundtracks to date, with Berlin performing the power ballad "Take My Breath Away."

"Take My Breath Away" was ranked by UltimateClassicRock as one of the "greatest power ballads in rock history" at No. 28. While Giorgio Moroder was tasked with the hit track "Danger Zone," Top Gun co-producer wanted a song to match the romantic scenes between Cruise and Kelly McGillis. Moroder developed a demo track and handed it to lyricist Tom Whitlock, who developed the words while driving home one day.

The power ballad was a hit among the director and producers, and was initially offered to The Motels. Moroder later decided Berlin was a better fit for the track after having worked with them on "No More Words."

Lead singer Terri Nunn said in a 2006 interview that Moroder said, "'I've got this great ballad, it's going to be the sound of the summer, it's going to be huge, you have to do it.' I was happy to go ahead, but John Crawford (the band's co-founder) hated it - he kept saying it just wasn't our sound or the right direction for us as a band, and that if we didn't write it we shouldn't record it."

Crawford would end up being wrong about the track, as "Take My Breath Away" topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was a hit in multiple countries. It would also land an Oscar win at the 59th Academy Awards for Best Original Song, beating "Glory of Love," "Life in a Looking Glass," "Mean Green Mother from Outer Space," and "Somewhere Out There."

That same year, it would also win a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. Berlin included the track in their album Count Three & Pray.

If you're a diehard Rolling Stones fan, chances are you've gotten into a fair number of debates about which album is the band's absolute best...that is, if you can even decide on a personal favorite. Ultimately, it might just be impossible to choose one Stones record above all the others. Some will swear it's Exile on Main Street, others will say Let It Bleed, still others will vote for Beggars Banquet...and then, of course, there's 1971's Sticky Fingers.

Featuring "Wild Horses," "Bitch" and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," to name just a few of the classic tunes, Sticky Fingers also gifted the world with one of the most iconic tracks in rock history: "Brown Sugar," released as a single on April 16, 1971.

The first single from Sticky Fingers, "Brown Sugar" went to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on May 29, 1971, and stayed there for two weeks. In the years since, it's become one of the band's most beloved songs ever; Rolling Stone ranked it #495 on their list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2010.

Interestingly enough, decades after Sticky Fingers came out, Mick Jaggeradmitted he could "never" write a song like "Brown Sugar" again.

In a 1995 interview with Rolling Stone's Jann Wenner, Jagger reflected on what makes "Brown Sugar" "work like mad" as a song.

"That’s a bit of a mystery, isn’t it?" Jagger quipped. "I wrote that song in Australia in the middle of a field. They were really odd circumstances. I was doing this movie, Ned Kelly, and my hand had got really damaged in this action sequence. So stupid. I was trying to rehabilitate my hand and had this new kind of electric guitar, and I was playing in the middle of the outback and wrote this tune."

"But why it works? I mean, it’s a good groove and all that," Jagger continued. "I mean, the groove is slightly similar to Freddy Cannon, this rather obscure ’50s rock performer — “Tallahassee Lassie’ or something. Do you remember this? 'She’s down in F-L-A.' Anyway, the groove of that — boom-boom-boom-boom-boom — is 'going to a go-go' or whatever, but that’s the groove."

As for the song's much-discussed lyrics, Jagger acknowledge that "Brown Sugar" references both drugs and women, not to mention a few other things.

"God knows what I’m on about on that song. It’s such a mishmash. All the nasty subjects in one go," he said, adding that he "didn't think about it at the time," but "never would write that song now."

"I would probably censor myself," Jagger explained. "I’d think, 'Oh God, I can’t. I’ve got to stop. I can’t just write raw like that.'"

As Jagger himself sang, though...it's only rock and roll. (And everybody still likes it.)

Hallmark staple Jonathan Bennett has joined General Hospital. As Parade reported, Bennett will take on the role of Joe Fitzpatrick and debut during May sweeps.

No official date for his premiere or details regarding the mystery character have been revealed. However, Bennet has since spoken out to say it was a no-brainer for him to return to daytime, where his career began 25 years ago.

The Mean Girls star got his break on All My Children as JR Chandler, son of Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Dixie Cooney Martin (Cady McClain). In an interview with People, Bennett got candid about having a full-circle moment when he accepted the role on General Hospital.

“I started my career on soaps, and when the opportunity to go and play a really fun character on General Hospital came up, it felt like a no-brainer,” he shared with the outlet.

Bennett went on to add, “I learned how to act on daytime television when I was 19 years old. Now I’m coming back, but I have a few more tools in my tool belt, so this should be fun!”

The official Instagram account forGeneral Hospital teased Bennett joining the show with a picture of him in the hair and make-up room. Fans filled up the comments section to weigh in on him as the newest cast member.

Ariana Grande recently received her flowers from this iconic actor.

CinemaCon, the annual trade show for movie exhibitors, is currently taking place in Las Vegas at the Caesars Palace. On Wednesday, Universal Pictures premiered the trailer for their upcoming comedy movie Focker-in-Law, with stars Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller present. The movie also stars Ariana Grande as Olivia Jones and Skyler Gusondo playing Stiller's son, as well as Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo, who will reprise their roles from the previous films.

The highly anticipated fourth installment in the Fockers film series and the sequel toLittle Fockers, follows an older Greg Focker (Stiller) facing his worst nightmare: his grown son, Henry (Gusondo), becomes engaged to a bold woman (Grande) who seems all wrong for him. The plot mirrors the original film, Meet the Parents, with Greg dealing with his own insecurities and meddling by his retired CIA father-in-law, Jack Byrnes (De Niro).

While presenting at CinemaCon, both actors praised Grande, calling it "an honor" to welcome her into the cast.

"[She is] probably the single funniest scene partner I’ve ever been lucky enough to share the screen with," De Niro said on stage.

In the trailer, the audience sees the "Problem" singer portray Olivia Jones, the loving girlfriend of Henry. In their first meeting, Olivia tells the family that she trained as an FBI hostage negotiator — and is intent on using her skills to free her boyfriend from a codependent relationship with his dad. Worse for Greg, the entire family is obsessed with Henry’s new girlfriend.

Grande got her start in the industry as an actress, with her first major role in the Broadway musical 13 in 2008, when she was just 15 years old. A couple of years later, she rose to fame on Nickelodeon's Victorious and Sam & Cat, playing Cat Valentine from 2010 to 2014, before establishing herself as one of the biggest pop stars.

After focusing on her pop music career throughout the 2010s, the 32-year-old star returned to acting in Netflix's Don't Look Up in 2021, which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill. From 2024 to 2025, she portrayed Glinda the Good Witch in Jon M. Chu's Wicked movies, which got her nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars and Best Supporting Female Actor at the Golden Globes.

Her co-stars are also successful in their own right. In his 50-year career, De Niro has won two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and has been nominated for nine Oscars, eight BAFTAs and ten Golden Globe awards. Meanwhile, Stiller is a very prominent actor, filmmaker, comedian and producer with multiple Emmy awards, Kids' Choice Awards MTV Movie Awards and more.

Focker-in-Law will be out in theaters on Thanksgiving Day, on Nov. 25.

Most audiences agree that a thriller should have plenty of stressful, suspenseful moments.

The publication Collider recently shared a list of the most suspenseful thriller movies ever released. The ranking featured beloved classics like Rear Window from 1954, 1960's Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs from 1991, and 2007's Zodiac.

1995's Se7en secured the number one spot for the most suspenseful thriller movie of all time. The publication reported that the David Fincher-directed film deserved the title because it's extremely upsetting and has an infamously dark ending.

In a 2017 interview with BAFTA Guru, Fincher discussed directing Se7en, which was his second feature film. He said after he directed 1992's Alien 3, he was sent the Se7en script, written by Andrew Kevin Walker. The Zodiac director said he was immediately impressed with the story, especially the relatively early reveal of John Doe's (Kevin Spacey) identity and the grisly fate of David Mills' (Brad Pitt) wife, Tracy Mills (Gwyneth Paltrow).

"I got sent a script and it was Se7en and I got to John Doe walks into the police station and gives himself up. And I was holding the script, like, I knew how many pages were left. And I was going, 'You can't do this. Like this is against the rules.' Like so I read to the end and I thought, 'This is insane.' So I called my agent and I said, 'This head in the box ending is unbelievable," recalled Fincher.

Fincher then said his agent let him know he mistakenly sent the script's first draft. After his agent asked Fincher if he'd like to see the final draft, he said he wanted to make exactly what was sent to him.

"He said, 'Oh my God I sent you the wrong draft. That's the first draft.' I said, 'What?' He said, 'Yeah there's like 11 drafts. Do you want me to send it?' And I said, 'No, no, no. This is the one,'" said Fincher in the 2017 interview.

As the daughters of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Audrey McGraw and her sisters, Gracie and Maggie, come from country music royalty. 17 of McGraw's studio albums have reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Album Chart, and he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2026. Hill has been equally successful in her career, winning five Grammy Awards. So it makes perfect sense that at least one of their kids would have some musical talent or interests.

As it turns out, both Gracie, 28, and Audrey, 24, have A LOT of talent. In 2025, Audrey even hit the road with Brandi Carlile on her "Lost Time Tour." While Audrey's time on the tour has come to an end, her own touring has not. On April 16, she shared her upcoming performance dates with her fans. First on the list is a show at Nashville's Blue Bird Cafe on April 23.

"My first hometown show with the amazing [August Ponthier] and [Madi Diaz]...," she captioned her Instagram post. "I'm so honored to share a round with y'all at this legendary spot."

After that, she has two shows in New York City: May 12 at Cafe Wha? where Diva Smith will open for her, and the following evening at the Crane Club. Two weeks later, she'll cross the ocean to play at the Green Note in London on May 26, a location that made the singer nostalgic.

"One of the first places I played live..." she wrote wistfully. "A room I really love that is so dear to me."

Along with the Brandi Carlile tour, Audrey had a very eventful 2025. In January, her father shared a video on his Instagram of his youngest daughter singing an emotional rendition of the Mexican fold song "Cucurrucucú Paloma."

"Had to post this," McGraw wrote. "Our baby girl Audrey bringing mom and dad to tears!"

By May, Audrey had released her first single, called "I Am... I Said," followed by four more singles before the year was out. Towards the end of the year, she also performed alongside her father during his Las Vegas residency, singing a powerful version of Heart's "Barracuda."

In 1982, Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner flopped at the box office. More than four decades later, it’s a sci-fi masterpiece all others are measured against. 

Starring Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, the film follows a “blade runner” cop who’s hunting humanoids (called replicants) in a dystopian Los Angeles where the lines between humans and machines are blurred. Pulling in $6 million on opening weekend against a $28 million budget, the director’s vision of the future didn’t quite connect with audiences. But, oh, the beauty of hindsight.

"Blade Runner initially suffered from a compromised cut featuring a studio-mandated happy ending and voice-over narration by a bored-sounding Ford,” Looper writes in an April story about genre-defining sci-fi films. “The film underperformed theatrically, but its reputation rapidly grew among cinephiles for its uniquely stylish, synthesizer-scored world of flying cars, punk cyborgs, and forbidden love.”

Adapted from Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, Blade Runner was re-released in 1992 as the Director’s Cut and in 2007 as Scott’s Final Cut, both of which elevated the film to “greatest” status and “the ultimate cyberpunk film.”

In an interview with Total Filmmagazine, per Slash Film, Scott calls his film “a monumental, five-month, day-by-day evolution," adding, “I knew I was making something very, very special.”

Widely regarded as the foundation of science fiction and neo-noir cinema, the film is celebrated for its philosophical themes, groundbreaking visuals, and enduring influence. According to Looper, no sci-fi picture that has come after Blade Runner hasn’t been influenced by it. Esquire considers it the greatest sci-fi masterpiece of all time. No Film Schoolranks it the No. 1 sci-fi flop that changed the genre forever. And Rolling Stone ranks it the seventh-greatest movie of the 1980s. 

“I hadn't seen Blade Runner for 20 years. Really,” Scott says. “But I just watched it. And it's not slow. The information coming at you is so original and interesting, talking about biological creations, and mining off-world, which, in those days, they said was silly. I say, 'Go f— yourself.”

The sequel,Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, premiered in October 2017. Again, it underperformed at the box office. But maybe it’s just another case of being ahead of its time. We’ll check back in 2050.

When it comes to fast-food debates, few are as heated as the battle for best chicken. According to a new nationwide study, Americans have made their pick—and one chain rose straight to the top.

After nearly a year of surveying more than 40,000 U.S. consumers, researchers ranked the most-loved restaurant brands across major menu categories. The data, collected between March 2025 and February 2026, looked at real diner impressions rather than a single taste test. Chick-fil-A Takes the Top Spot

With 25.3 percent of respondents naming it the best for fast-food chicken, Chick-fil-A ranked number one. KFC followed at 17.9 percent, Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen at 16.2 percent, Raising Cane's at 6.8 percent and Church's at 3.5 percent.

Fans say the win isn't just about the sandwich itself. Many diners point to freshness and consistency as key reasons they keep coming back. One fan noted that Chick-fil-A has always been a positive spot and that the food hits every time, especially considering how fresh everything tastes. Fans also noted the top-notch customer service.

Another respondent described the chain as fantastic, adding that even the famously long drive-thru lines signal quality and demand.

Customer service plays a major role in the brand's reputation. A younger diner noted that the warm feeling they get when they eat at Chick-fil-A comes from how team members greet guests with genuine smiles and keep dining areas clean, making customers feel valued rather than rushed.

Across all generations, Americans are three to four times more likely to have a positive impression of Chick-fil-A than a negative one. Gen Z respondents reported the highest positive sentiment at 47 percent and the lowest negative sentiment at 11 percent.

Not Without Controversy

While Chick-fil-A led the chicken category, the brand continues to spark mixed reactions. Some consumers say the company's leadership and past political and religious stances influence their decision to dine elsewhere.

One respondent over 50 shared that while the food and service are good, they disagree with the company's broader positions and choose to take a stand with their spending. Others echoed similar concerns, saying they would prefer to support establishments they feel align more closely with their personal values.

The study also crowned a winner in another major category: Best fast-food burger. I couldn't agree more with the winner, and now I need to get some fast food.

The popular Backstreet Boys' song "I Want It That Way" was released on April 12, 1999, and although it peaked at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the song ultimately hit No. 1 in more than 25 countries. So it would seem the band got something right in the making of "I Want It That Way"—or perhaps, according to at least one of the Backstreet Boys, they got something wrong, and that's exactly what made it a hit song.

When the Backstreet Boys, famously made up of singers Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, and Kevin Richardson, sing to "I Want It That Way," it's easy to get caught up in the ballad, their lovely voices, and the catchy tune. You may or may not have even noticed that the lyrics actually make no literal sense.

Wait, what does that even mean? Exactly. Well, during a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show, band member AJ McLean, who now goes by Alexander James, argues the song's quirky wordplay is exactly what made it work.

Referring to "I Want It That Way," the singer says, "[The song] literally makes absolutely no sense," James says, "to the point that the label made us re-record it to make sense."

He explains how the band wasn't feeling the reworked version even if it made sense. "We were like we’re not gonna gonna release this version. It’s gotta be the version that makes no sense," he says. "We just kept going back to the version that makes no sense. 'Tell me why ...' Tell you what? What way do you want it?"

"I don’t understand what this song means, but it doesn’t matter," the singer adds, "And if it had gone their way, no way in hell it would be as massive as it is today."

Liam Payne's sister, Ruth Gibbins, is remembering her brother more than a year after his death.

Gibbins shared a tribute to Payne on her Instagram story on Thursday, April 16. Payne died on Oct. 16, 2024 at the age of 21 after falling from his hotel balcony in Argentina.

"18 months without you, it feels impossible to be a sentence, yet here we are," she began the post.

"Healing is such a tricky thing to navigate. I can't return to who I was before, because grief has changed my outlook that I could never be that person again, but then I get sad Liam will never know me who appeared after his death," Gibbins continued. "And then the main part of me is so homesick to go back to my before life, if it was an option given to me between that life or solve all the problems in the world forever, id always choose to go back to my life where my brother existed."

Gibbins shared that the former One Direction member, "taught me so much in life, but he didn't teach me how to live without him and thats a lesson I'm really struggling to get to grips with."

She concluded the Instagram tribute with, "Liam, I know you are all around me, especially in the last couple of weeks. I miss you more than my heart can handle, you should be here with us," she finished the heartfelt post. "I know you're willing us to live, I hope you can see all we're doing in your spirit."

According to a toxicology report released in Nov. 2024, Payne had "alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants" in his system at the time of his death. In Sept. 2025, Payne's sister Nicola, shared on social media that the family had spent Payne's final birthday with him.

That night, celebrating your birthday with bowling and McDonald's, we celebrated you, your show Building the Bandyour dreams, and spoke of all the plans you had for the future,” Nicola wrote on Instagram. “We ended the evening with a hug. Telling you how proud we were and how much we loved you.”

She continued, “If I had known that would be the last time I'd see you, I would have said so much more. I wish I could step into a time machine and relive that night[,] hug you together, capture your smile and voice. Ask more questions, and write it all down so I'd never forget.”

A Trader Joe's lawsuit settlement means that many customers who purchased from the chain in certain locations can expect a check in the coming months.

According to People, the Trader Joe's settlement is in response to a lawsuit filed in 2019.

The lawsuit alleged that Trader Joe's violated an amendment to the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA). The issue was that some stores printed 10 digits of the customers' credit or debit card numbers on the receipts.

The purchases in question were made at certain stores between March 5 and July 19 2019. There does not appear to be a list of those specific stores available.

According to the website Top Class Actions, FACTA requires that merchants omit or limit all digits of credit or debit cards except a maximum of the last five. In addition, the expiration date should not appear on the receipt at all.

The 2019 class action lawsuit was initiated by Brian Keim. He alleged that during that time frame, some Trader Joe's receipts printed 10 digits from customers' cards rather than the maximum of 5.

The website pertaining to the Keim v. Trader Joe's Company lawsuit indicated that the receipts in question included the first six digits of the cards along with the last four. No other identifiable customer information was included on the receipts.

Trader Joe's "vigorously denies any and all liability or wrongdoing whatsoever" and noted that this issue did not happen at all of its stores.

Despite denying any liability, Trader Joe's indicated that its insurer "has nonetheless concluded that further litigation would be protracted and expensive, and has taken into account the uncertainty and risks inherent in this litigation, and has determined that it is desirable that the litigation be fully, completely, and finally settled in the matter."

What does this mean for Trader Joe's customers?

The proposed settlement fund is $7.4 million. Those who want to file a claim need to do so by June 9. As People noted, the payouts are estimated to be in the amount of $102.45 for each qualifying claim.

Those who have a Class ID number can submit their claim via the settlement website or by phone. According to KARE 11, Class ID numbers were sent, via email or mail, to some people who were determined to potentially have been affected.

Those who do not have a Claim ID number can print a claim form from the settlement website. They will need to submit the first six and last four digits of the card used, as well as the purchase date.

To file a claim for the lawsuit settlement, Trader Joe's customers have several options available to them.

In 2023, Harmon opened up to PEOPLE about a different squirrel, a 3-month-old one named Thomas.

“I mean, when he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was me,” Harmon told the publication. “So my youngest daughter found him on the sidewalk, and there was no tree to put him on.”

While they put him under a tree and waited for his mother to return, she never did. 

“So, I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll come get him,’” Harmon said. “And then I’ve had him ever since.”

Harmon would get up every hour and a half to feed the squirrel, and said she didn’t sleep for a month. She called the experience “brutal.”

As Thomas grew up, Harmon would show him off to social media and hold him as she did her makeup.

Spaceballs (1987) is widely regarded as one of the funniest comedy movies of all time, and the Mel Brooks classic is finally getting a sequel after four decades: Spaceballs: The New One.

Unlike Brooks' other fan favorite film, History of the World, Part I, the Spaceballs sequel will be a theatrical movie, not a streaming series.

The Star Wars spoof is so beloved that even Star Wars creatorGeorge Lucas loved it, giving Brooks his blessing and even having his own company handle the movie's special effects.

A sneak peek of The New One was screened at CinemaCon in April 2026, presented by director Josh Greenbaum and a panel of its stars, including father-son duo Bill Pullman and Lewis Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Josh Gad and, perhaps most excitingly, Rick Moranis. (More on all of that below!)

Gad is a co-writer of the film, along with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.

“Early days still, but working with the legendary Mel freaking Brooks to make something worthy of this franchise and his legacy has been a dream come true,” Gad wrote on Instagram in June 2024. He added that the Spaceballs 2 team was “doing everything in our power alongside Mel to make sure you get what you've waited 37 long years for. EVERYTHING.”

Yes! The long-awaited sequel wrapped production after nearly 40 years since the release of the original.

Brooks starred in a teaser video from Amazon MGM Studios released at CinemaCon in April 2026 announcing the official title of the sequel—and it's not what his character Yogurt initially predicted in the original.

"I have a major announcement: Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money is not going to be the title of this movie," Brooks animatedly said with a chuckle. "Why not? Because after all these years, I found the money. There it is! It was in my basement."

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing more than 10 weeks after she was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and in a new development involving DNA evidence, a sample from the 84-year-old's home has been sent to the FBI from a Florida lab.

On Thursday, April 16, ABC 7 reported that a private Florida lab working with the Pima County Sheriff's Department sent the DNA sample to the FBI within the past few days.

Reportedly, the FBI is using new technology for advanced analysis on the sample, in hopes of identifying the perpetrator in Nancy's kidnapping.

A Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the department has been "sharing a lot of things" with the FBI lab since the investigation into Nancy disappearance began.

Additionally, NewsNation Senior National Correspondent Brian Entin reported via X about the latest DNA evidence development. Entin shared that the sample "includes hairs found in Guthrie’s home."

This comes after evidence has already been tested through a Florida lab the Pima County Sheriff's Office uses.

In February, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that DNA evidence from Nancy's home was "mixed," meaning it contained genetic material from more than one person.

"Our lab tells us that there are challenges with it," Nanos told NBC Nightly News of the Florida lab, per Fox News. "The technology is moving so fast and in such a frenzy that they think some of this stuff will resolve itself just in a matter of weeks, months, or maybe a year."

Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named, despite Savannah offering a $1 million reward in exchange for information leading to her mother's recovery.
