2006 Hit Thriller Ranked Among Most 'Respectful' Films About 9/11

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 2:21pm

This September will mark 25 years since the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S.

Not too long after the devastating events, a film was released that reimagined what transpired inside one of the downed planes from that day. And now, Tuesday, April 28 marks 20 years since United 93 was released in U.S. theaters.

Directed by Paul Greengrass, the riveting thriller was both a critical and commercial success, ultimately receiving two Academy Award nominations at the 2007 ceremony.

Here's the official synopsis of the often hard-to-watch docudrama, which holds an impressive 90% average critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on more than 200 reviews:

"On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists seize control of United Airlines Flight 93 and three other planes. As realization of the imminent horror dawns on passengers, crew and loved ones on the ground, the courageous acts by those held hostage in the air count down in actual time."

The late, great film critic Roger Ebertgave the film four out of four stars, writing: "This is a masterful and heartbreaking film, and it does honor to the memory of the victims... The movie is deeply disturbing, and some people may have to leave the theater. But it would have been much more disturbing if Greengrass had made it in a conventional way. He does not exploit, he draws no conclusions, he points no fingers, he avoids 'human interest' and 'personal dramas' and just simply watches."

There have been other narrative movies made about 9/11, but fans and film analysts over the years have called United 93 one of the best and most respectful of the bunch. When the San Diego Union-Tribune reported on it at the time, for instance, its headline read, "United 93 a grueling but respectful study of doomed flight."

More recently, a Redditor posted that the action thriller was "one of the hardest movies I’ve ever watched in recent years." And looking ahead, other media surrounding the fateful day will certainly be revisited as well this coming September.

2011 Time Travel Novel Ranked the Best Non-Horror Books by Stephen King — And It Likely Won’t Get a Sequel

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:47pm

If you could change the past, would you? It’s a question many people have, and Stephen King opted to tell that story with 11/22/63. It created a somewhat alternate timeline and would later be transformed into a highly praised miniseries.

While King is well-known for his horror stories, there are the odd releases that branch out. This is one of them, and 11/22/63 has been ranked as the best of King’s non-horror pieces of work by Goodreads users.

‘11/22/63’ Offers a Time Travel Story

What if you could go back in time and save a life? That’s something Jake Epping has the opportunity to consider. There’s an element of the British TV series Goodnight, Sweetheart at the heart of the story, as time travel is possible through one portal in a local diner’s storeroom, and it only takes people to one particular time period: 1958.

Sure, that’s a few years before JFK was assassinated, but it allows Jake time to set up the stepping stones needed to prevent it. He has the opportunity to befriend the right people and keep a certain Lee Harvey Oswald away from Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

Of course, there is always the question of the butterfly effect. Is saving a life justified? How much does it change in the future? That’s something Jake learns as he goes on his journey and heads back in his own time. While it’s not quite a horror story, there is an element of horror to it. After all, monsters make sense, but people do terrible things for some of the most darkest of reasons.

Don’t Expect a Sequel of This Stephen King Story

King was once asked about whether he would develop a sequel to the story. After all, Jake survived, and so did his love interest, Sadie. Of course, not everything worked out the way many people wanted, especially those invested in the romance.

While King has admitted that he loved writing the story of Jake and Sadie, he doesn’t want to revisit them. It may be that he’s taking lessons from his own story. Can it be done just as well the second time, or is it best to leave good stories in the past where they belong?

King isn’t one to chase the profits. He will write what he wants and how he wants, and isn’t that what we respect the most about him as an author?

Brooke Hogan Reveals Why She Did Not Participate in Hulk Hogan Docuseries

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:33pm

Brooke Hogan is sharing why she decided to opt out of appearing in her late father's Netflix documentary series Hulk Hogan: Real American.

The four part docuseries featuring Hulk Hogan's final interview before his death released on Wednesday, April 22. The series also featured interviews from his son Nick Hogan, his ex-wife Linda Hogan, and his widow Sky Daily Hogan.

RELATED: 26 Most Shocking ‘Hulk Hogan: Real American’ Revelations

Brooke shared why she chose not to join her family in the documentary in an interview with Extra on Monday, April 27.

"Why come out of hiding and talk about something that I'm just gonna get raked over the coals for anyway?," she said "It's missing 98 percent of real life, like it was a beautiful showcase piece on my dad's life, but it didn't talk nearly about the underbelly of the beast.”

Brooke also told the outlet that "nothing in the documentary was a surprise" to her and said she "actually watched it kind of scared thinking there would be a surprise for me and there wasn't."

Brooke reflected on the complicated relationship she had with her father, telling Extra, "He did really hurt me, and I never really got a genuine apology or a sorry. The forgiveness just came from my love for him, but even in the documentary, I felt like there wasn't accountability, and I was just like, ‘This is basically your last chance to really be honest.'"

Hulk Hogan died in July 2025 from a heart attack at 71 years old. He spoke out his contentious relationship with his daughter and his use of fentanyl in the documentary. Including an affair he had with Brooke's former friend and assistant.

Brooke said that her father “quit cold turkey for a long time" and that she doesn't think "he had an addictive personality at all towards drugs."

"I think his addiction was validation, particularly from women. I think that it was, you know, the sex part," Brooke continued in her interview with Extra. "I think it was… ‘Am I still young? Am I still strong? Am I still attractive? Am I still good enough?'… That led to a lot of his downfalls and a lot of his scandals.”

Joey Fatone Recalls Wild Fan Scam Involving a Paternity Test During Early NSYNC Fame

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:33pm

Being famous and part of a popular boy band can lead to a few obsessed fans who will try anything to be a part of a pop star's life. NSYNC member Joey Fatone looks back at an encounter where a fan appeared on his doorstep, claiming he was the father of her child.

ID's Boy Band Confidential: Deep Cutstakes a deep dive into the spotlight years of the popular boy band in the mid-90s into early 2000s. Fatone details a wild experience he had during the start of the band's fame when a fan knocked on his parents' door while he was away on tour. He recalls his father opening the door, and the fan saying, "Hi, my name is such and such. That's your son's daughter' My dad's like, ‘I'm sorry?'"

The shock experienced by Fatone's parents is justifiable as the singer remembers getting a call from his mother, who was "hysterical crying." Unsure of what to do in the situation, his mother made him talk to the fan over the phone.

"And she puts her on the phone… she's like ‘Hey, I'm such and such. I don't want any money. We met a while back,' and it was the first performance we ever did as NSYNC, which was around 1996. What this woman told me is that we met, we hung out, we had a great time that night and then I hadn't seen her since," said Fatone.

The moment led the NSYNC member to believe that his career was over, and the shocking possibility that he was a father. When NSYNC was formed, Fatone was roughly 18 years old at the time and in his early 20s during their early breakthrough years. When the tour ended, Fatone was even more surprised to learn that the woman had taken legal action against him with a paternity test.

As Fatone's mother was "losing her mind," the singer received a supposed birth certificate with both his and the woman's name on it. The piece of paper ended up being the smoking gun Fatone needed to prove he wasn't the father.

"The font was in one type and then my name was in a completely different type of font and you can see that it was white out on it," he explained.

"The woman was just making the whole thing up. Basically, she wanted me to get a paternity test, take a photo of all of us walking into it so she would get paid by whoever wanted to list the story. And that was the only reason why.”

Fatone dodged a bullet thanks to having noticed the small detail on the birth certificate. Fatone has been linked to his high school sweetheart, Kelly Baldwin, in an on-and-off relationship after joining NSYNC during the early years. They rekindled their romance in the early 2000s and had their first child in 2001. They married in September 2004 and had another child in 2010.

Taylor Swift Admits She Wrote ‘Love Story’ When She Was Mad at Her Parents

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:29pm

It’s no surprise that when The New York Times recently polled over 250 music insiders and six of the publication’s own critics to compile a list of the 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters, Taylor Swiftwas one of the top picks. She’s won Grammys, she was named Billboard’s Top Artist of the 21st Century in 2025, and she has sold millions of albums. So how does she write her iconic songs? According to Taylor, one of her famous hits started with her parents!

Taylor Swift, she’s just like us. Okay, so maybe not really. After all, how many of us can say that we sold out a multi-country (make that multi-continent) concert tour that drew in over 10 million screaming fans? But when it comes to her creative process, the 36-year-old Grammy winner has one muse that we can all relate to.

Remember those tumultuous teen years when everything felt oh-so Earth-shatteringly important? And of course, your parents just didn't get you. Well, it looks like Taylor also remembers that time of her life—and it served as the catalyst behind the creation of”‘Love Story.”

View this post on Instagram

In The New York Times interview, Swift shares the spark behind her first forays into songwriting, “I started writing songs when I was 12. As soon as my love for singing and picking up an instrument happened, songwriting just spontaneously just started becoming the entire cornerstone of my life.”

She continues, explaining the type of music that really struck a chord with her early on, “A hypothetical structure would be, you know, first verse, you know, little girl learns a lesson that in the chorus her mom teaches her about. And the little girl grows up, and she realizes, Oh my god, my mom was right about this. Now, the second time you hear the hook, that same hook means something a little bit different because she’s, like, grown up in her life.”

And that brings her to”‘Love Story.” The lead single from her 2008 album Fearless, “Love Story,” shot to the top of the charts, and in 2015 the Recording Industry Association of America certified it eight-times platinum.

The song focuses on, as the name suggests, a Romeo-and-Juliet-esque love story in which an angsty teen is forbidden to pursue the romance they desire. At the time of its release, fans speculated that the hit was about a rumored relationship with Joe Jonas. But, as it turns out, that isn’t exactly true.

So what was the real inspiration behind the chart-topper? Swift explains, “I think the first time I felt like, I don’t care if people hate this because I love it so much, was when I wrote the song “Love Story” when I was 17, sitting in my bedroom, mad at my parents, because they wouldn’t let me go on a date. With a guy who was too old, so I shouldn’t have been on a date with him anyway.”

What’s the moral of this “love” story? Swift sprinkles in a pinch of humor, adding, “And this is why you need to discipline your kids. Because they might write songs. That go No. 1.”

Pilates Instructors Say These 3 Moves Are the Fastest Way To See Results in Your Core

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:25pm

Your Pilates instructor has a deep understanding of the core and how it works. In fact, many instructors complete more than 450 hours of training to become certified while studying biomechanics, anatomy and meticulous movement.

This helps ensure your Pilates workout is as effective and safe as possible. During sessions, instructors focus on engaging the deep abdominal muscles, back and pelvic floor—jointly referred to as the “powerhouse”—with precise, controlled movements. The result? Deep muscle engagement that supports mobility, flexibility and functional activities.

Pilates is a stellar low-impact, total-body workout that’s suitable for all fitness levels—plus, it’s incredibly adaptive. This modality blends strength and flexibility training to help alleviate pain, support injury rehab and promote a solid mental well-being.

Moral of the story? You may want to table your standard ab workout and prioritize Pilates instead.

“Traditional ab workouts tend to target the muscles you can see (the rectus abdominis or the ‘six-pack’ muscles) and they usually train them in isolation,” explains Daisy Zhang, certified Pilates instructor and founder of Mind Pilates. “Pilates goes deeper and activates the transverse abdominis, the pelvic floor and the deep stabilizers that traditional workouts miss entirely. Every Pilates movement is paired with intentional breathing, which is actually what switches on those deeper muscles. You're working smarter, and the results show it.”

Pilates works the core as a system, meaning the exercises you do during a session translate more accurately to real-life movement, posture and injury prevention, says Emma Stallworthy, certified Pilates instructor and co-founder of Your Reformer.

It’s time to roll out your mat and get started. We spoke with Pilates instructors to learn some of their go-to moves to see noticeable results in the core while boosting functional strength.

The 3 Best Pilates Exercises for Your Core

Jordi Salas/Getty Images

Instructors say these three Pilates exercises are the fastest ways to see real results in your core: planks, Hundreds and Dead Bugs.

“What makes these three stand out is that they all demand that you breathe, stabilize and control at the same time,” Zhang tells Parade. “That combination is what actually changes how your core looks and functions. Most ab exercises isolate one muscle, but these three train your entire core system to work together, which is what creates real results.”

According to Jill Drummond, certified Pilates instructor and vice president of Fitness at BODYBAR Pilates, these exercises recruit the transverse abdominis as the spine remains stable and elongated.

“Hundreds are a staple that builds strength, endurance and length, and planks and Dead Bugs follow that same pattern,” she explains. “All three challenge the core to stabilize the spine while the limbs move, which is why they deliver such fast, visible results!”

Now, let’s dive in and learn how to do them correctly.

Related: ‘I’m a Pilates Instructor—These 5 At-Home Exercises Helped My Clients Lose Stubborn Weight’

1. Plank
  1. Start by placing your hands below your shoulders on the mat.
  2. Press into the pads of your fingers and hug your inner arms in toward your armpits.
  3. Walk your feet out to hip-width.
  4. Gently lift through your pelvic floor and draw your waist in.
  5. Be mindful of lengthening from head to heels as you hold the position with proper Pilates form.

Related: Exactly How Often You Need To Do Pilates To Reduce Belly Fat, According to Instructors

2. The Hundred
  1. Begin sitting tall on a yoga mat.
  2. Roll back, bringing your chin to your chest and hovering your shoulders above the ground.
  3. Extend your legs to a 45-degree diagonal, bringing them together and pointing your toes.
  4. Reach your arms out in front of you.
  5. Keep your lower belly gently drawn in as you begin to pump your arms.
  6. Sync your breath in a smooth rhythm as you breathe in for 5 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds.
  7. Do this 10 times (one inhale and one exhale counts as a full rep).
3. Dead Bug
  1. Begin by lying flat on your back with your arms extended toward the ceiling and knees lifted to form a tabletop position.
  2. Press your lower back into the floor and brace your core.
  3. Lower one arm and the opposite leg toward the ground.
  4. Return to the start position.
  5. Repeat on the other side and continue to alternate.
Which Core Muscles Are Activated in These Exercises?

According to Zhang, these exercises engage the transverse abdominis, which serves as a natural “corset,” in addition to the internal and external obliques and the pelvic floor. While it may not be the main focus, your rectus abdominis does some work during these moves as well.

“That matters because the transverse abdominis is the muscle that actually pulls the abdomen inward and flattens the midsection,” Zhang points out. “You can do a hundred crunches a day and never touch it.”

Keep in mind that the deep core engagement required in exercises like planks, Hundreds and Dead Bugs is quite different than if you were to perform standard ab exercises.

“Crunches and sit-ups work by flexing the spine. Usually, people end up relying on momentum and surface muscles to get there,” Zhang tells Parade. “Dead Bugs, Hundreds and planks work in the opposite direction. Your spine stays neutral, and your deep core has to work continuously just to hold everything still. That constant, controlled engagement is what trains the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor in a way that crunches don’t.”

The Importance of Breathwork for Core Engagement

Focusing on your breath during every exercise in a Pilates practice is a non-negotiable. According to Stallworthy, it’s the tool that fuels deep core activation.

“When you exhale fully, the transverse abdominis naturally contracts and the pelvic floor lifts,” she explains. “Most people hold their breath during exercise, which inhibits deep core activation entirely. Pilates teaches you to synchronise your breath with your movement so that every effort phase is supported by this natural co-contraction.”

Holding your breath creates outward pressure and can derail the “flat abs” look you’re trying to achieve. That’s why it’s just as important to ace the breathing as it is to master the exercise.

“In Hundreds, breath is built into the exercise. The rhythmic inhale and exhale help fire the deep core and maintain endurance,” Drummond explains. “In [the] plank and Dead Bug, breath prevents bracing or gripping and helps maintain a neutral spine.”

If you’re looking to achieve a strong, toned core, these Pilates moves are an excellent place to start. With dedication and consistency, you’ll be well on your way to securing your desired results.

Country Superstar Shocks Fans With Yacht Rock Covers Album Amid Major Life Change

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 1:24pm

Keith Urban is in his easy-breezy era. In an unexpected pivot, the country superstar is about to “set sail” with a new yacht rock covers project. And seeing as how Urban is also wading through some rough waters personally with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, perhaps this softer side of rocking out couldn’t come at a better time.

According to Urban’s social media blasts, his next album will be a mix of classic yacht rock favorites from the late 1970s and early ’80s. Sharing the news at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, Urban shocked the crowd with his announcement, leaving the roomful of fans thinking he was joking, Whiskey Riff reports.

“It’s the first time I’ve done an album of covers,” he told the audience. “There is one original on the record. It’s a thematic record … yacht rock songs. You think I’m kidding? I’m not kidding.”

At the event, Urban shared the yacht rock original with fans, along with soulful renditions of Stephen Bishop’s “On and On” from 1977 and Robbie Dupree’s “Steal Away” from 1980. Here’s hoping The Doobie Brothers’ “What a Fool Believes,” which effectively launched the genre, is on his track list.

Ever since the relaxed subgenre of classic rock was given a name, yacht rock has surged in popularity. It is a surprising move from a country star, after all, as artists from competing genres, like pop and hip-hop, seem to be overzealous about wanting to dip their toes into the wild west genre. But Urban's taking a different approach, and instead leaning into the smooth '70s/'80s sound revival and genre comeback.

Beyond the stage, Urban has been in the headlines for personal matters pertaining to his split from his wife of 19 years. With Kidman rumored to be moving on with family friend and Scarpetta co-star, Simon Baker, outlets have reported Urban as having a difficult time. It’s possible this album is a musical escape before a creative new chapter.

The new album drops tomorrow (Wednesday, April 28), so be on the lookout. “We’re getting closer to Wednesday. Don’t drift too far now,” Urban writes on Instagram. “Nashville, hope you didn’t make other plans for the 29th.”

There’s something about boarding school novels that suck me right in. Personally, I think it’s being in that school system, where you can’t escape the drama, and you can’t rely on your own parents to step in when you need them. A House of Vipers by Emma Jackson offers that and more, creating a twisty and thrilling ride from start to finish.

I did find that it took maybe 20 percent of the book to really get a feel for the story and the characters. One of the issues is the short chapters constantly switching the POVs, so I felt like just as I was getting to know a character, I then jumped to another one. And no, I’m not counting the prologue, as that’s from the character you know is missing and presumed dead by many!

However, it’s a twisty story that once you’re in it, you’re hooked. It doesn’t slow down at any point, and there were certainly moments that I didn’t see coming!

More Than Just a Murder Mystery to ‘A House of Vipers’

When I first read about A House of Vipers, I was preparing for a YA murder mystery. Well, maybe not quite a “murder” mystery, but definitely a mystery that would lead to finding out what happened to Sutton’s brother a year earlier. I also thought that Sutton had chosen to go to the boarding school to get the answers, so I was a little surprising to find out that there was already a whole friend group there.

Once I changed my mindset on what I was expecting, I found myself thrown into this world of puzzles. This wasn’t just one mystery to uncover. As we got to find out Lawson’s last video on his phone and delved into the secret society, it was clear that this was more like an escape room.

The group of friends had to get to the bottom of each individual puzzle to solve the whole thing. Different members of the friend group brought their own abilities and skills, proving that more often than not, you need to rely on a team. There were also some cute reveals about characters that didn’t necessarily fit in with the mystery, making it feel a little more realistic and relatable.

Delacorte Press

A Love Triangle I Didn’t Expect

I’ll be honest and say that I’m not the biggest fan of the love triangle trope in YA anymore. It’s just one of those things that has been overdone. That being said, this love triangle was one I didn’t expect, and it also didn’t take over the story. It didn’t become the heart of it, keeping the focus on the puzzles, the life at the boarding school, and the topic of a found family and how important friends are to people.

The inclusion of the secret society was always going to draw me in. That is my jam, and I loved the mystery and darkness around them. Of course, you can usually tell where storylines about secret societies are going, but Jackson’s execution was engaging, making it a real page-turner.

A House of Vipers is definitely one of those dark academia YAs that I could see transforming well into a TV series. It works wonderfully for fans of One of Us Is Lying, Gossip Girl, and even The Order, and the twist and answers at the end will take you a long time to see coming.

If You Love ‘Legally Blonde,’ Jesse Q. Sutanto Has the Perfect Novel To Read Next

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 12:58pm

One of the great things about Legally Blonde was getting the message that anything was possible. People have hidden talents, and while their initial goal may not be to reveal them, they end up on a beautiful journey of self discovery. This is exactly what Ms. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block by Jesse Q. Sutanto offers.

It’s her latest novel, bringing the story of a woman in her 60s who is ready to make a change. That change only happens because her husband, Henk, leaves her for a much younger woman. At first, we get a somewhat face-palming experience, but you just know that we’ll see a woman transform into something inspiring.

About ‘Ms. Mebel Goes Back to the Chopping Block’

The new novel from Sutanto starts off with a tale sadly as old as time. A man in his 60s has decided to leave his wife of 30+ years for a much younger woman. In fact, this woman is younger than his own son, and it certainly leaves an icky feeling. Don’t worry; you’re never meant to like Henk.

We find Mebel struggling to deal with the loss of her husband. She wants to feel useful, and she wants to feel loved. Yet, her husband has left her, and her son just wants her to find something new to do with her life. Her daughter-in-law is just fed up with her constantly being around, and you can’t blame her when Mebel clearly has no boundaries.

This is a woman who goes as far as picking the lock to her son and daughter-in-law’s bedroom door so that she can walk in with some juice that has been prepared. And she sees absolutely no problem with this.

Things start to change as she realizes what she needs to do. She heads from Indonesia to Paris to learn how to cook French cuisine in an attempt to win her husband back. However, things don’t quite go to plan, as it turns out that she enrolled in the wrong campus, and now she’s heading to a small town in England to learn how to be a chef.

Mebel Suffers From Culture Shock — But Also Learns Valuable Lessons

If you’ve ever moved from one country to another, you’ll understand culture shock. Even when you speak the same language, there is a difference in the way of living. However, for someone going from an Eastern culture to the Western world, the culture shock is strong, and Sutanto captures that beautifully.

Mebel goes on and on in her head about how younger people should respect her. She’s old enough to be their mothers or grandmothers, and in her culture, they would move aside for her. That doesn’t happen in England, and she has to learn to fit in.

While there are some growing pains, she does, and this is where her growth begins. We get to see a woman who has always been a trophy wife — and happy with that life — to suddenly realizing what it means to be praised for abilities and skill and not just the way she looks or the social circle she’s in. There are many people in their 60s who haven’t experienced that, and Mebel works through the feelings that she experiences because of it.

It’s from here that she learns so much more about herself and the way the world is. She proves that she is more than “just” a trophy wife, and she even goes as far as making it clear that she doesn’t need a husband by her side.

As I said, it’s perfect for Legally Blonde fans, as Elle realizes that the reason she went to Harvard in the first place isn’t the reason she wants to stay or be a lawyer. There’s an empowering heart to the story, but it’s not a direct copy. One thing I appreciated is that Mebel struggles to fit in and accept people for who they are at first, while Elle would immediately accept people and help them achieve greatness.

My only complaint is that the novel is too short. It took me about three hours to read, with only 20 chapters to tell the tale, and I think that we could have had so much more. Some elements toward the end felt rushed, especially when it came to the big reveal of how to handle a particular male character and the conniving pair at the culinary school. We could have had maybe five to 10 more chapters to really flesh out that part of the story, but it is certainly a great read and perfect for various stages of life.

'House of the Dragon' Season 3 Finally Has a Release Date — Plus First Trailer and What Might Happen Next

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 12:51pm

Winter is coming and so is a third season of House of the Dragons. Before even a single Westerosi knight had been beheaded, poisoned or burned alive in Season 2 of the Game of Thrones prequel series, HBO had already ordered a third season of bloody mayhem. Season 2, which premiered on June 16, 2024, continued the journey of the Targaryen power struggle laid out in Season 1 and launched the all out war between the "Blacks" and the "Greens," two different alliances with different rulers aimed for the Iron Throne.

While little is known about Season 3 (we just learned who survived Season 2 after all), it will presumably continue the narrative that George R. R. Martin has laid out in his historical annals of the Targaryen dynasty, Fire & Blood. It's still early days, but here is everything we do know about the upcoming Season 3 of House of the Dragon, including release date and trailer.

Was House of the Dragon renewed for Season 3?

Yes! House of the Dragon will be back for a third season. The show was renewed ahead of the Season 2 premiere on June 13, 2024, a sign that HBO believes in the series.

Will there be House of the Dragon Season 3?

You bet. The series was renewed for a third season on June 13, 2024.

What is the release date for Season 3 of House of the Dragon?

At last, the long winter between seasons is almost over! House of the Dragon Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

When will House of the Dragon end?

After Season 2, House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal announced that the series would conclude after four seasons. This is a bit of a tight timeline given everything that happens in Fire & Blood, and how slowly everything moved during Season 2 of the series.

How many seasons will House of the Dragon be?

According to the show's showrunner, House of the Dragon will be made up of four seasons total, meaning we are halfway done with the series now.

Will House of the Dragon Season 4 be the last?

Yes. While Season 4 has not been announced yet by HBO, Condal did announce that the series would only consist of four seasons.

Who is in the House of the Dragon Season 3 cast?

No casting choices have been announced for Season 3. Presumably some of the Season 2 cast will return, BUT some didn't quite survive the season. The show has also recast key characters as they age, so depending on the period of time covered, we could see some key roles played by new actors a la The Crown

What is House of the Dragon about?

The HBO original series tells the story of the House Targaryen. The program is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and examines the predecessors to Daenerys, the Dragon Queen.

How many episodes are in House of the Dragon Season 3?

The length of Season 3 has yet to be announced. Since Season 1 consisted of 10 episodes and Season 2 will be 8 episodes, it's likely that Season 3 will be in that range.

What will happen in Season 3 of House of the Dragon?

It's hard to say exactly what will happen in Season 3. While this series is based on Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin, the series does take some liberties with the original material. Season 2 ended with the Battle of the Gullet, so Season 3 should pick up after that with the Blacks and the Greens as mad at each other as ever.

The First Electric Air Taxis Took off From Manhattan to JFK Airport, and Honestly, This Could Revolutionize Travel

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 12:34pm

It sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie: hopping into a quiet, electric aircraft in Manhattan and landing at the airport minutes later. But this week, that vision became reality. The first electric air taxi flights successfully completed trips between Manhattan and John F. Kennedy International Airport and the implications for the future of travel are massive.

A Historic First Flight

On April 27, 2026, aviation company Joby Aviation completed the first-ever electric air taxi demonstration flight in New York City. The aircraft took off from JFK and landed at a Manhattan heliport, completing the journey in about 10–15 minutes.

To put that into perspective, the same trip by car can take anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic and even public transportation options like the AirTrain JFK require transfers and added time.

The aircraft itself is part of a new category known as eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing). It takes off like a helicopter but flies more like a plane, combining speed with flexibility. The model used in the test can carry a pilot and up to four passengers while reaching speeds of around 200 mph.

Faster, Quieter, Cleaner

One of the biggest selling points of these air taxis is efficiency. The flight time between Manhattan and JFK could eventually drop to as little as 7–10 minutes, dramatically cutting down one of the most unpredictable parts of travel: getting to the airport.

But speed isn’t the only advantage. These aircraft are fully electric, meaning zero direct emissions during flight. They’re also significantly quieter than traditional helicopters, producing around 45 decibels compared to over 100 for standard choppers.

That matters in a city like New York, where helicopter noise has long been a major complaint among residents. A quieter, cleaner alternative could make urban air travel far more acceptable and scalable.

Related: American Airlines Is Revolutionizing Air Travel for Those With Special Needs (And Their Parents)

A Real Travel Shift

This is part of a larger push toward what’s known as urban air mobility, a system where short-distance flights complement traditional transportation.

Companies like Joby are already working with regulators like the FAA and local agencies to bring these services to market. The New York flights are part of a pilot program designed to test how electric aircraft can integrate into busy airspace and existing infrastructure.

There are also plans to connect these flights seamlessly with commercial airline travel. Partnerships with major carriers and transportation platforms could eventually allow travelers to book an air taxi as part of a single, door-to-door journey.

What It Might Cost (At Least at First)

Of course, this kind of convenience won’t come cheap, at least initially. Early estimates suggest rides could cost roughly the same as a premium car service, like Uber Black, around $150 to $200 for a trip between Manhattan and JFK.

That puts it out of reach for many everyday travelers, at least in the short term. But that’s typical for new transportation technology. Over time, as the technology scales and competition increases, prices could come down. We’ve seen similar patterns with ridesharing, air travel, and even electric cars.

Why This Could Change Travel Forever

Even with those hurdles, the potential is hard to ignore. Airport commutes are one of the most stressful parts of traveling. They’re unpredictable, often time-consuming, and heavily dependent on traffic. Electric air taxis offer a way to bypass all of that, turning a frustrating hour-long journey into a quick, predictable hop.

And it’s not just about New York. High-density cities around the world, from Los Angeles to London, are exploring similar systems. If successful, this could fundamentally reshape how we think about getting from point A to point B in major cities.

While it may take a few years before these services become widely accessible, one thing is clear: the era of flying over traffic instead of sitting in it is no longer just a concept.

Dolly Parton, Paul Simon, Taylor Swift, and More Just Made a Top 30 List of Best Living American Songwriters

Tue, 04/28/2026 - 12:31pm

While the thought of great American songwriters may bring names like Cole Porter or Louis Armstrong to mind, a new list out on Tuesday just put a current twist on who is deemed "the greatest" at their craft.

Compiled by The New York Times, the list, that was published in no particular order, was constructed by the outlet's critics along with 250 music industry insiders. Consisting of only living songwriters, each artist has made their impact on entertainment, whether their songs were released in the 1960s like Bob Dylan or their music was a soundtrack to a recent Super Bowl half time show like Bad Bunny or Kendrick Lamar.

Some of the celebrated songwriters, including Nile Rogers, were featured in a video interview, where they explained their approach to coming up with a hit.

"I can have a terrific idea, in my mind, to start with, by the time I finish with it, I've rewritten it three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10 times," he said. "So that's how I think of myself, that I'm an arranger, and because of my arrangements they become the foundation of the song."

Taylor Swift, for her part, said in her interview that her songwriting process is essentially a new venture every time.

"It's still such a mystery to me," she said of her music coming together. "I've been writing songs for so long and they never quite happen the same way and I still don't understand how it works."
