When it comes to storage, some of the smartest solutions are the ones that don't immediately look like storage. Multifunctional pieces help maximize your space while reducing clutter, making them especially valuable in apartments, bedrooms, and smaller living rooms. A floor lamp with built-in shelves is a perfect example, combining organization and lighting in one space-saving design.

One standout option is the Daybetter Floor Lamp With Shelves. Right now, it's on sale for 33% off at Walmart, bringing the price down from $60 to just $40. For a piece that serves multiple purposes, that's a hard deal to ignore.

Depending on your needs, you can choose between a 62-inch model with three shelves for $40 or a taller four-shelf version for $45. Both feature a sleek profile that adds storage without taking up much floor space.

Built from 6-millimeter black metal tubing and high-density composite board, the lamp is designed to handle daily use with ease. The high-quality KT lampshade helps diffuse soft, glare-free light, creating a comfortable glow that's ideal for reading, working, or relaxing.

The built-in shelving adds plenty of practical storage. On the three-tier model, each shelf supports up to 22 pounds, giving you room for books, plants, photo frames, decorative accents, and everyday essentials. It's an easy way to take advantage of vertical space while keeping surfaces clear and organized.

Convenience is another major plus. The lamp is designed for hassle-free assembly and comes with all the necessary tools and clear instructions. It also features an accessible bulb replacement design and a generous power cord that makes placement easier. Its clean look works well with everything from minimalist and modern spaces to rustic-inspired interiors.

One shopper described the lamp as “practical, smart, and very easy to put together,” writing, “It's very light and dainty and would actually fit with any decor.”

‘The People’s Princess’ Would Have Been 65 Today

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 11:05pm

Diana Frances Spencer, who became known to the masses as "The People's Princess" or simply "Princess Diana," was born on July 1st, 1961. Were Princess Diana still alive, today the iconic philanthropist, style icon, and humanitarian would have turned 65.

Diana was born at Park House, located near Sandringham, Norfolk as the youngest daughter of then Viscount and Viscountess Althorp. She grew up with three siblings; sisters Sarah and Jane, and younger brother, Charles. The Spencer family grew up close to the Royal Family, with Diana playing with Prince Andrew and Edward at holidays and even growing up referring to Queen Elizabeth II affectionately as "Aunt Lilibet."

At seven-years-old, Diana's parents divorced and her father won custody of her shortly after the holidays in 1967. She inherited the title of Lady Diana after her father became Earl Spencer in 1975, at which point her father moved the entire family from Park House to Althorp, the Spencer seat in Northamptonshire.

Diana was first introduced in 1977 to Charles, Prince of Wales when she was 16 and the Queen's eldest son and heir was 29 and, at the time, dating her older sister, Sarah. A few years later, the heir apparent began to express interest in Diana as a potential wife. The two courted from 1980 until February of 1981 when they became engaged. They kept the engagement secret for two and a half weeks before announcing it to the public.

Diana became Princess Diana of Wales at the age of 20 when she wed Charles at at St Paul's Cathedral on July 29th, 1981. The wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer cost about $48 million at the time. When adjusted for inflation, that equates to $140 million today. Their nuptials remain one of the most expensive royal weddings in history. Globally, 750 million watched their wedding via television while more than 600,000 lined the streets in London hoping for a glimpse of the couple.

Diana and Charles had two sons, William and Harry. Notably, Diana gave her sons more experiences outside of typical royal life. She took them to school when she was able, planned outings for them, and would even rearrange her calendar to be more in line with her children's.

From 1987 to 1995, Diana's relationship with Charles was very tense, subject to many scandals, and both had admitted to extramarital affairs. The marriage was clearly on the rocks and despite multiple attempts at reconciliation, the two divorced in 1996. Diana lost the title of "Her Royal Highness" at the insistence of Charles in the divorce and her oldest son William told her, "Don't worry, Mummy, I will give it back to you one day, when I am king."

A crowd of mourners gather close to St James's Palace to lay flowers and read tributes to Diana, Princess of Wales.

On August 31, 1997, Diana was involved in a fatal car crash and died at the young age of 36. The crash occurred while her driver was fleeing from paparazzi. Her funeral, televised on September 6th, was watched by more than 2.5 billion people worldwide.

Over the years, Diana has remained one of the most notably popular member of the British monarchy. She was known for her kindness, humor, compassion, advocacy, and being a hardworking and resilient person. She was a devoted mother to her children, and she stuck true to who she was despite being in one of the most highly pressurized positions possible.

Amazon’s 'Light' and 'Airy' $17 Cotton-Linen Shorts Are 'Easy to Throw On in the Summer'

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 10:45pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Denim cutoffs will always have a place in my summer rotation, but this season I’ve noticed a trend. Linen and linen-blend pieces are showing up everywhere, and the appeal is obvious. Warm-weather dressing is centered on comfort, and these fabrics do most of the heavy lifting thanks to their breathability, moisture-wicking properties, and non-clinging structure that helps keep you cool by allowing air to circulate instead of sticking to the skin.

Scrolling Amazon, I found the Micoson Cotton-Linen Ruffle Waist Shorts, which look both timeless and off-the-moment. The fabric blend is “light and airy for summer,” according to shoppers, with a “relaxed” silhouette that works for everything from errands to travel days. Best of all, they’re currently marked down 32%, dropping from $25 to just $17 as we head into this season’s hottest months.

Micoson Cotton-Linen Ruffle Waist Shorts, From $17 (was $25) at Amazon

Made from a breathable blend of 45% linen, 35% cotton, and 20% viscose, these shorts have a soft, lightweight feel with enough structure to hold their shape throughout the day. The high-rise pull-up waistband is finished with delicate ruffle detailing that creates a paperbag effect, while the adjustable drawstring lets you customize the fit. Shoppers said this design makes the shorts "easy to throw on in the summer."

Front seam details create a tailored look, and the wide-leg cut gives the shorts a drape instead of clinging through the hips. Oversized patch pockets are stitched directly onto the front, adding both storage for your phone, cards, or sunglasses and a utility-inspired finish.

On sale in seven easy-to-wear neutrals, they pair just as easily with a fitted tank and leather sandals for sightseeing as they do with an oversized linen button-down, woven tote, and slides for vacation dinners or beach towns. Add white sneakers and a simple tee to keep them casual, or choose a lightweight knit or crisp blouse to make them casual office-friendly.

Care is low-maintenance — simply wash on a gentle cycle and hang or lay flat to dry to keep these shorts looking their best. Available in sizes small through XX-large, it's easy to find a comfortable fit across a wide range of body types. Black and khaki are the most budget-friendly at $17, while the other five colors are $19, meaning every option still stays comfortably under the $20 mark.

These “breathable” and “well-made”  shorts are “perfect for hot summer days,” according to reviewers. “These shorts are so comfortable and lightweight for warmer weather," one shopper wrote, noting that "the linen-style fabric gives them a cute casual look that works really well for summer, vacations, or just everyday errands.”

That same reviewer also highlighted the ruffle waistband, saying that “it makes them look a little more put together than basic lounge shorts.”

74-Year-Old Country Icon With the Most No. 1's Is Surging on the Billboard Charts Again

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 10:39pm

George Strait is still climbing up the music charts, even over four decades after first kicking off his career.

45 years after putting out his first official single, the 74-year-old country icon is having a major resurgence on the current Billboard charts, particularly with his 2004 compilation album, 50 Number Ones.

Strait's 20-year-old compilation album climbed up to No. 74 on the Billboard 200 this week, jumping up ten spots from last week's position at No. 84, according to new chart standings dated the week of July 4.

The new feat earns the album another week on the Billboard 200, bringing its total number of weeks spent on the chart to a whopping 390.

Released in October 2004, 50 Number Ones was Strait's sixth compilation album, and it features some of the biggest hits of his career, like "Carrying Your Love With Me," "All My Ex's Live in Texas," and his first-ever No. 1 hit, "Fool Hearted Memory."

But Strait would go on to have more than 50 No. 1 hits in his career, and his legendary catalog now boasts 60 chart-topping hits. 44 of his most successful songs reached the summit of the Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, while 16 songs reached No. 1 on non-Billboard charts, including Radio & Records, Mediabase and The Gavin Report.

'60s Rock Band, Disbanded After One Year, Ranked Among 'Best Supergroups' of All Time

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 10:30pm

Blind Faith, one of the most iconic rock bands that dominated the late 1960s, continues to leave an enduring legacy in music.

Composed of notable musicians from highly influential bands, the group featured Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker from Cream, Steve Winwood from Traffic and Ric Grech from Family, who brought a different kind of sound that blended psychedelic rock, blues and hard rock, showcasing expressive and powerful music.

With this, the quartet secured a spot on Rolling Stone’s list of the 10 Greatest Supergroups of All Time, based on a readers' poll asking fans to vote for their favorite supergroups.

While Traveling Wilburys, Cream and Temple of the Dog landed in the top three spots, Blind Faith ranked No. 6 on the list.

Formed in the late 1960s, the band was introduced as rock’s first true supergroup in February 1969 following the breakups of Traffic and Cream.

At that time, expectations for the British rock band were sky-high, especially since all four members were established musicians.

As part of their highly anticipated debut, Blind Faith surprised fans with a free show in London’s Hyde Park, marking their first official gig as a group, drawing an estimated 100,000 fans and performing a set of covers and new material.

Blind Faith members Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood perform on stage in Hyde Park, London, 7th June 1969.

Blind Faith members Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood perform on stage in Hyde Park, London, 7th June 1969.

Later that year, they released their first and only self-titled album, which featured their standout tracks "Can't Find My Way Home," "Presence of the Lord" and "Had to Cry Today."

Moreover, the album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart in the United States for two weeks and also topped the UK Albums Chart.

Despite their massive commercial success and having sold more than half a million copies in its first month alone, Blind Faith called it quits.

The supergroup officially disbanded in October 1969, just two months after releasing its debut album.

According to Winwood, the band’s split was due to the members’ different artistic ambitions and struggled to reconcile their creative vision with the commercial expectations surrounding the group.

“Blind Faith was pretty murky, really. That didn’t really work out quite as well as Eric and I had intended,” he said, as mentioned in an Instagram post. “I don’t think there was any one reason for that, but Eric didn’t want to carry on doing what he’d been doing with Cream - we were both looking for something else. The music that we started off doing was acoustic and jangly. It had a sort of folk element to it, not something that goes down too well in the arena rock environment. But of course, rock was becoming big money at that time.”

Despite lasting only a short time, Blind Faith left a lasting impact and earned recognition as one of the greatest supergroups of all time.

Country Star ‘Almost Got Locked Up’ After Being Mistaken for Someone Else: ‘I Was Freaking Out’

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 10:23pm

A man by the name of Jordan Davis may have found himself in some trouble, but it’s not the country star. In fact, the singer, 38, recently revealed he was taken in for questioning after being mistaken for another man who shares the same name.

On Monday, June 29, Jordan Davis (the country star) uploaded a video of himself on Instagram, sharing the nerve-wracking story with some of his busmates.

“Dude, the two cops came up here, pulled me into the Border Patrol [station],” a casual-looking Davis, sporting a long-sleeved, cream Henley and eyeglasses, can be heard telling his buddies in the clip. “They’re like, ‘I need you to be real serious with me, man. Are you in some trouble in Indiana?”

View this post on Instagram

According to a Taste of Country report, Davis encountered U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers while returning to the United States after a weekend performance at The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

“I was freaking out,” he admitted of the scary incident, explaining that he told the agents: “I’ve never even been arrested before.”

Davis goes on to say, “They were serious for a second, dude….[The agent] was like, ‘You need to come with me. We’re not gonna put you in handcuffs; just walk with me. That’s when I was like, ‘Whoa!’... I just kinda got quiet because they were pretty serious. Somebody in Indiana named Jordan Davis is in trouble.”

The “Next Thing You Know” singer’s busmates shared their reactions to seeing the officers walk up during the moment, with one person behind the camera noting that he had no idea Davis was being detained and initially thought the Border Patrol agents were joking with the singer.

Another person inside the tour bus said he figured the officers were going to ask for a photo with the Louisiana native. And though the moment was quite shocking for Davis, the star shared that after a few minutes, officers finally realized who he was and asked: “Are you the country singer?”

“I was like, ‘Yeah,’” Davis shared of his response, adding, “‘He was like, ‘Oh dude. Now, you’re gonna go back and bash us, huh?’ I was like, ‘No. All good. Just let me get outta here.”

“Bro, but the whole time I was in there, all these people were like coming in [and looking at me]. And I was like, damn... Almost got locked up, ‘cuz,” Davis added. “I was freaking out. At first, I just thought like…it was like the second I walked off that bus, he got pretty serious.”

1981 Rock Classic, Reimagined 20 Years Later, Became a No. 1 Hit

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 10:13pm

Some songs are so instantly recognizable that a single guitar riff is enough to introduce them to an entirely new generation.

That was exactly what happened with "Edge of Seventeen." Released by Stevie Nicks in 1981 as the third single from her debut solo album, Bella Donna, the hard-driving rock classic became one of her signature songs. Twenty years later, its unmistakable opening riff found new life when Destiny's Child prominently sampled it in "Bootylicious," helping propel the pop anthem to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song marked an important milestone for Nicks.

Although she had already become a global superstar as a member of Fleetwood Mac, Bella Donna allowed Nicks to establish herself as a solo artist. Inspired by the deaths of both John Lennon and her uncle Jonathan, "Edge of Seventeen" blended deeply personal emotions with one of rock's most memorable guitar hooks, creating a song that would endure long after its original release.

While "Edge of Seventeen" became a staple of classic rock radio and one of Nicks' defining performances, its biggest commercial resurgence arrived two decades later.

In 2001, Destiny’' Child built "Bootylicious" around the iconic riff after receiving Nicks’ blessing to use the sample. Released as the second single from Survivor, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the trio's biggest hits.

"I remember when I started hearing people criticize me after I had put on some weight. I was 19. None of the sample clothes fit me. I was feeling a bit insecure from hearing some of the comments, and I woke up one day and refused to feel sorry for myself, so I wrote 'Bootylicious,'" Beyoncé told Harper's Bazaar in 2021.

Nicks even made a memorable cameo in the music video, further connecting the two generations of artists.

"Without all the make-up and everything, they just looked like three really cute, little teenage girls,'" Nicks told Elle UK. "Then of course, they're just like me, they put on — whatever it is that makes them — them. Whether it's your boots or jacket or whatever, then they became Destiny's Child, and I saw it. It was really a marvel to see."

The collaboration highlighted the timeless appeal of Nicks' songwriting. Rather than simply borrowing the riff, "Bootylicious" introduced millions of younger listeners to "Edge of Seventeen," prompting renewed interest in the original recording and reaffirming its place in rock history.

"I always feel like I know them, even though I really don't," Nicks continued. "I feel like I know Beyoncé even though I really don't know her at all. I feel like I know her because I was with them for a long time that day. They gave me a chance to pretend like I was playing guitar. I don’t think anybody ever gave me that chance ever again.'"

The success also underscored Nicks' lasting influence across genres. Beyond Fleetwood Mac's legendary catalog, her solo work has continued to inspire rock, pop, R&B and hip-hop artists, with "Edge of Seventeen" remaining one of the most frequently referenced songs in her repertoire.

More than 40 years after its original release, "Edge of Seventeen" continues to resonate with listeners old and new. Its transformation from a classic rock favorite into the foundation of a No. 1 pop hit proved that truly great songs never stop evolving, finding fresh audiences with each new generation.

This verdict comes after a two-week trial, which ended in favor of MariaAvila, the housekeeper whom Brown’s 200-pound Caucasian shepherd attacked. The event happened while she was taking out the trash at the singer’s Tarzana, California, house.

“I will never be the same again,” Avila told jurors on June 24, according to Rolling Stone.

Billboard was the first to report the news. Brown and his company, Black Pyramid LLC, owe $12.9 million in damages to Avila for negligence. Additionally, they owe her sister, PatriciaAvila, $885,000 for emotional distress. Avila’s husband, OscarOlivo, was awarded $50,000.

Per Rolling Stone, Avila claimed the attack resulted in severe injuries to her arm and face, scarring, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She explained that she now struggles with nerve damage and chronic sensitivity on her left side, making it difficult to perform daily activities. She doesn’t have the arm strength to clean, essentially ending her career as a housekeeper.

Avila’s daughter, YoselineEspinoza, testified about the call she got from her aunt, Patricia Avila, after the attack. “She was just freaking out, telling me, ‘Your mom can’t breathe. She keeps passing out on me. The ambulance is still not here. Chris Brown fled the scene,'” Espinoza testified. “I did not think she was going to make it.”

Brown said that the dog was for security purposes, not a personal pet. He also said that after the attack, he fled the scene, driving around for hours. He testified that after he heard the dog growling outside, he ran out to discover Avila motionless on the ground. He said he locked up the dog, made sure she was still breathing, and called over his security for help. He explained that he did not call 911 because he was afraid a recording would be leaked to the media.

“Because of how my image is and always used. I didn’t want a misleading story, or like a circus, from my status. It’s pretty sticky when it comes to that. So me staying out of the way was advised,” the singer said.

Prior to the trial, Brown admitted negligence under California’s dog-bite statute in a court filing. He disputed the severity of Avila’s injuries and claimed she was partially at fault since she went outside alone.

1977 Classic Ballad, Named No. 1 Hit for Three Weeks, Became a Soft Rock Anthem

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 9:43pm

Long before disco came to define the Bee Gees, the group had already mastered the art of writing unforgettable ballads.

That gift was on full display in 1977 with "How Deep Is Your Love." Originally written for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, the tender love song showcased a gentler side of the trio and quickly became one of the biggest hits of their career. It spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains one of the defining soft rock anthems of the decade.

The song arrived at a pivotal moment for both the band and popular music.

Written by brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, "How Deep Is Your Love" was among several songs they contributed to Saturday Night Fever. While the soundtrack became synonymous with the disco explosion, the ballad stood apart through its understated arrangement, lush harmonies and emotionally rich lyrics, providing one of the film's most memorable moments.

"If you listen to 'How Deep is Your Love' you think it's a single voice but it's me and Barry singing in unison, which produces a nice sound, as it does on 'New York Mining Disaster,'" said Robin Gibb in The Art of Noise: Conversations with Great Songwriters. "There's a sound that we do, it's almost like a single voice, but it isn't, and it's not double-tracked, it's two voices together. It's something that we've done a lot."

Its success extended far beyond the movie.

Released as the soundtrack's first single, "How Deep Is Your Love" became an international smash, topping charts around the world while earning the Bee Gees a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Group.

"A lot of the textures you hear in the song were added on later," Barry Gibb later explained in an interview. "We didn't change any lyrics, mind you, but the way we recorded it was a little different than the way we wrote in the terms of construction."

The song also helped propel Saturday Night Fever into one of the best-selling soundtrack albums of all time, cementing the Bee Gees' place at the center of one of popular music's most influential cultural moments.

Although the group would continue producing chart-topping dance hits including "Stayin' Alive," "Night Fever" and "Too Much Heaven," "How Deep Is Your Love" demonstrated the remarkable versatility that had defined the Bee Gees since the 1960s. Its blend of pop, soul and soft rock appealed to audiences across genres, ensuring its popularity long after the disco era faded.

Over the decades, the ballad has been covered by countless artists, including Take That, whose 1996 version introduced it to another generation of listeners. Yet the Bee Gees' original recording has remained the definitive interpretation, continuing to receive regular airplay on classic hits, adult contemporary and soft rock radio.

Nearly 50 years after topping the charts, "How Deep Is Your Love" remains one of the Bee Gees' most cherished recordings. Its timeless melody, heartfelt lyrics and exquisite harmonies have ensured that one of the greatest love songs of the 1970s continues to resonate with listeners around the world.

2000s Metal Band Announces Major 20th Anniversary Tour

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 9:35pm

Wake up and smell the tour news: The Black Dahlia Murder just announced Two Decades of Nocturnal, a 29-stop headline tour through Europe celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band’s landmark 2007 album, Nocturnal

Performing a special set that will pull from the iconic album, as well as feature fan-favorite tracks spanning the melodic death metal icons’ entire catalog, the monthlong tour kicks off Jan. 14, 2027, in Frankfurt, Germany, and includes stops in 13countries before wrapping Feb. 14 back in Germany, this time in Karlsruhe

View this post on Instagram

“Super excited to announce this celebration of Nocturnal’s 20th anniversary, which we will present across Europe this winter,” vocalist Brian Eschbach said in a press release. “The set will feature a great deal of material off the band’s third release. Can’t wait to see y’all again.”

Released in September 2007, via Metal Blade Records, Nocturnal helped shape the extreme metal subgenre. It was recorded with Eric Rachel at Trax East, mixed by JasonSuecof at Audiohammer, and peaked on the Billboard 200 at No. 72.

“With its visceral combination of flesh-searing riffage, mind-bending guitar solos, and disgustingly poetic lyricism, Nocturnal pushed the boundaries of melodic death metal with an intensity and craft that resonated far beyond American shores,” Blabbermouth wrote. “It remains, nearly two decades on, widely regarded as the gold standard of modern U.S. melodic death metal and one of the most important extreme metal records of the 21st century."

Formed in Michigan in 2001, The Black Dahlia Murder has had to overcome adversity since its founding. Following the death of co-founder and vocalist Trevor Strnad in 2022, the band chose to honor their fallen mate by trudging forward. Their latest album, Servitude, was released in 2024, also via Metal Blade Records, and serves as their first record since Strnad’s passing.

"I still feel proud of this album,” Strnad told Kerrang! in 2019 of Nocturnal. “I feel like it was us coming into our own as a band. It was a meteoric kind of rise for us at that point--we headlined Summer Slaughter, it’s when we recorded the Majesty DVD … it was amazing. It was probably the best time in the band that I can think of.”

Today, the band consists of Brian Eschbach on lead vocals, Ryan Knight on guitar, Wes Hauch on guitar, Max Lavelle on bass, and Alan Cassidy on drums.

Tickets for Two Decades of Nocturnal are on sale now attbdmofficial.com.

’70s Rock Legend and Founding Member of Beloved Rock Band Turns 82

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 9:19pm

Before Little River Band became one of Australia's most successful rock groups, Glenn Shorrock was already making a name for himself.

The singer, songwriter and founding member of Little River Band turns 82 on June 30, 2026, marking another milestone in a career that has lasted more than six decades.

Shorrock was born in Chatham, Kent, England, before moving with his family to Adelaide, South Australia. His music career began there, and by the time Little River Band formed, he had already found success with earlier groups, including The Twilights and Axiom.

That history made him a natural fit for Little River Band, which formed in Melbourne in 1975 and went on to become one of Australia's biggest rock exports.

With Shorrock as one of the band's defining voices, the group reached listeners far beyond Australia and built a strong following in the United States. The band has sold more than 30 million records and earned major success with songs such as "Reminiscing," "Help Is on Its Way," "Lonesome Loser," "Lady," and "Cool Change."

One of Shorrock's most enduring contributions to the soft rock genre came with "Cool Change," which he wrote for Little River Band. The song was released in 1979 and later became one of the band's most well-known recordings. In 2001, the Australasian Performing Right Association named "Cool Change" among its Top 30 Australian songs, highlighting how deeply the track remained tied to the country's musical history.

Shorrock's work has also been recognized through the ARIA Hall of Fame. He was inducted as a solo artist in 1991, and Little River Band was later inducted in 2004, giving him a rare double recognition for both his individual career and his role in one of Australia’s biggest rock bands.

Although Little River Band's lineup changed many times over the years, Shorrock's voice remains closely tied to the band's classic era. His smooth delivery helped define the group's soft-rock sound, giving its biggest songs a warmth and polish that still makes them stand out decades later.

At 82, Shorrock's legacy remains connected not only to Little River Band, but also to a wider era of Australian rock that found a lasting audience around the world.

Could Lara Jean Exist in 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Universe?

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 8:47pm

There are two successful book series by Jenny Han that exist and are focused on romance. To All The Boys I've Loved Before's world continues on Netflix through XO, Kitty. The Summer I Turned Pretty is almost wrapped up on Prime Video.

The adaptations might be on different streaming platforms. But do their worlds connect? Lana Condor, who played Lara Jean, answered if her character would hang out with Belly (Lola Tung).

Lana Condor Says Lara Jean Would Be Fine With 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Characters

Bettina Strauss/Netflix

Condor, 29, is in a movie called The Devil's Mouth with Gavin Casalegno of The Summer I Turned Pretty. This was probably the closest we'll get to Han's TV adaptations colliding. But Entertainment Tonight asked the actors if they think Lara Jean and Belly could meet.

"You know, Gavin I have to admit this," she told him. "I actually have not seen your show." She regretted saying this already to the press before him.

"That's OK," Casalegno, 26, responded. She has seen clips of the Prime Video show online.

"So I don't actually know what Belly's personality is," Condor continued. "But I'm imagining Lara Jean can kind of get along with a lot of people. So I'm imagining she would be fine."

Casalegno has finished filming the final movie for The Summer I Turned Pretty. "I think it's a continuation of this love triangle story and how familiarity breeds contempt. And then trying to work through old wounds, old hurts, old relationships," he said. The actor predicts fans will be "pleasantly surprised."

The two series are connected, but not the way you think. "Yeah, all these Easter eggs," Han told Refinery29 in 2018. "There’s a copy of my book, The Summer I Turned Pretty, in [Lara Jean's] bedroom, if you look closely. There’s also a picture of me and the cover model, Helen, on the third book cover."

That would make the fictional book-lover a fan of the series instead of being in its world. Han wrote The Summer I Turned Pretty first, but the trilogy movies of To All The Boys I've LoveBefore were released first.

Han revealed that she preferred the TV series format after doing both. "I think that TV is more novelistic," the author told W Magazine. "You can really dig into characters and spend hours with them and on their journeys in a way that you can't with a movie. Since TV is more of a writer's medium and movies are more for directors, I just knew I would have more creative control."

The release date of The Summer I Turned Pretty movie hasn't been announced. The Devil's Mouth will be released on July 29, 2026, on Prime Video.

Alice Halsey, the New Laura Ingalls, Reveals How She Reacted to Meeting Melissa Gilbert

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 8:41pm

Alice Halsey, 11, is taking on the role of Laura Ingalls for the upcoming Netflix series, The Little House on the Prairie, adapted from Laura Ingalls Wilder's book series.

In a June 2026 interview with Entertainment Tonight, alongside her Little House on the Prairie castmates, Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, and Skywalker Hughes, Halsey shared that she met actress Melissa Gilbert, now 62, who played Laura in the NBC Little House on the Prairie television series, which had a nine-season run until 1984.

Halsey told the publication that she was delighted to meet Gilbert. According to Halsey, she "ran up to her" and "gave her a big hug" when Gilbert visited the set of the new Little House on the Prairie show, which premieres on July 9.

Hughes, who is playing Laura's sister, Mary, also described Gilbert as being "so amazing and so supportive" towards the new show's cast.

"I think she's really just excited that the fact that another little girl gets the experience of being Laura and gets to have such an amazing time. And I know she was so proud of her," said the 14-year-old actress, before telling Halsey she's also proud of her.

Alice Halsey Discussed Her Instant Bond With Her On-Screen Sister

In a June 2026 interview with Comic Book Resources, alongside Bracey and Fitzgerald, Halsey shared she felt an instant bond with Hughes. According to Halsey, she immediately felt that Hughes was perfect for the role of Mary.

"We just, kind of, we clicked. It was, like, I saw Skywalker and I was like, 'Okay, that's her. There you go,'" said Halsey during the interview.

Fitzgerald then shared that Halsey and Hughes' friendship made it easier for her and Bracey to play their parents, Caroline and Charles Ingalls.

"It was pretty instantaneous for them, and they made it so comfortable for us. Meeting us, they kind of like ran into our arms, first time having met both of us. And they made the vibes like really, really nice," said Fitzgerald.

1996 Film That Inspired One of Alternative Rock’s Most Haunting Ballads Became a Cult Classic

Tue, 06/30/2026 - 8:37pm

To be or not to be a Radiohead fan was never in question. Especially after the alternative rock band’s haunting contribution to one of the most iconic films of the late ’90s.

Tasked with composing a love song for Australian auteur Baz Luhrmann’s highly stylized adaptation of the Shakespearean classic Romeo + Juliet, Radiohead’s primary songwriter, Thom Yorke, composed the appropriately titled “Exit Music (For a Film),” then delivered it to the director with a note that read, “To Baz, from Thom. Hope you like it and that it’s not too late.”

The track became the final note to a tragedy everyone knows the ending to, soundtracking the film’s closing credits.

“They were on tour at the time,” Luhrmann explained in an interview with Opening Ceremony, “and we’d all discussed how perfect they would be to do that final moment after the tragic death. So I reached out to Thom on the road, and so began a series of phone calls where I would variously ring him, brief him about the song, and talk about what it could achieve emotionally.”

Chilling and devastatingly beautiful, the slow-burn ballad whispers about doomed lovers trying to escape an oppressive world. Featuring a melancholic acoustic guitar with Yorke’s ethereal falsetto, the track builds to Jonny Greenwood’s buzzing bass climax and Phil Selway’s percussion release. It was truly the perfect way to conclude Luhrmann’s reimagined literary tragedy about star-crossed lovers.

Now considered a timeless anthem, “Exit Music (For a Movie)” was so good, Radiohead even added it to their landmark 1997 album, OK Computer.

“Now, no doubt R+J was a special soundtrack,” Luhrmann said. “But even if it had been a total train wreck, the fact that Thom Yorke and Radiohead were able to use that context, story, and environment for a moment to come up with ‘Exit Music (For a Film),’ which became part of that small triumph called OK Computer, that would have been enough.”

Radiohead’s anthem was just one of several iconic hits on the film’s soundtrack, an eclectic ‘90s time capsule that drew on alternative rock, trip-hop, gospel, and more to translate Shakespearean themes of rebellion, love, and isolation into a youthful lexicon that resonated with modern viewers. The Cardigans, Garbage, Des’ree, and Everclear all made appearances alongside Radiohead.

The soundtrack was one of the biggest reasons the film grossed nearly $150 million globally against a $14.5 million budget. Another? The crackling onscreen chemistry between Leonardo DiCaprio, just 21 at the time, and Claire Danes, only 17. The pair gave the film such an electric spark that audiences are still talking about it 30 years later (see: this story).

That staying power extended beyond Romeo + Juliet itself. While Yorke wrote “Exit Music (For a Film)” specifically for Luhrmann’s adaptation, the ballad took on a life of its own. Since then, it has appeared across several screens, from the filmNumber 24 to series including Black Mirror, Westworld, and Yellowjackets.

Opening at No. 1 in November 1996, Romeo + Juliet captured a massive teen audience and introduced an entirely new generation to Shakespeare through a soundtrack packed with vibrant music. Proof that sometimes the quickest way to make a centuries-old tragedy feel timeless is to wrap it in pop-rock anthems and, in this case, inspire one of the rock's most enduring songs.
