Dungeons & Dragons has included over-the-top fighting since it began. But the combat hasn't generally been overly graphic with a few exceptions. One of those exceptions was the blood-soaked desert world of Athas, which many fans thought may never be revisited due to what many considered its problematic nature.

But Hasbro / Wizards of the Coast surprised the gaming community by not just revisiting it, but going all-in on the violence. Dungeons & Dragons is returning to Dark Sun in 2027 as the first mature-rated setting in the game's history, and it will arrive shrink-wrapped with an 18+ warning for violence, bloodshed, nudity, and sexuality.

The reveal came during the Gen Con keynote on July 30, where executive producer Greg Bilsland told press to expect gore and adult content "so much so the lawyers told us we had to shrink-wrap it and put a warning on it." The plastic wrap is meant to keep the pages out of the hands of anyone under 18 on store shelves. A brutal animated trailer drove the point home, filled with psions and warriors eviscerating their foes. Bilsland described Athas as a place where "the dragon leaves you splattered in gore, your bones and viscera spread in the sand."

The return spans roughly 500 pages across five products. Blood and Power is a player-facing gameplay expansion that introduces the Psion, a psychic warrior class long tied to the setting and last seen in a 2025 playtest built around Psionic Energy Dice. Edge of Oblivion is a setting guide for Dungeon Masters covering the locations, history, and monsters of the dying desert world, with tools to build campaigns rather than a single pre-written adventure. Rounding out the lineup are a Dungeon Master's Screen, a map pack, and a limited-edition Player's Handbook with new Dark Sun cover art. Wizards has not confirmed pricing.

The decision reverses a stance Wizards of the Coast held for years. As recently as 2023 the studio called Dark Sun too problematic to bring back, citing themes like slavery and genocide. First introduced in 1991 and absent since D&D's fourth edition in 2010, the setting swaps the heroic fantasy of Forgotten Realms for a broken world where, as Bilsland put it, "survival is its own act of defiance."

Athas is ruled by tyrannical sorcerer-kings and scarred by magic that has drained the planet of life, leaving gladiatorial arenas and raw psionic power in place of the usual sword-and-sorcery magic and steel. Fans had suspected the revival for a while, thanks to public playtests of the Psion and a run of apocalyptic subclass material that dropped months before the keynote.

Dark Sun is the anchor for the game's Season of Survival, which runs from February through July 2027 and opens Wizards' publishing calendar for the year. That release is part of a broader plan that also includes a World of Warcraft crossover and a return to the classic setting of Greyhawk with the new Crown of the Witch Queen adventure.

Fan and players will all see if the upcoming Dark Sun's 18+ rating sets a new ceiling for what an official Dungeons & Dragons product is allowed to contain.

After an initial attempt to save the franchise from shutting down completely, salad restaurant chain Salad and Go has had to file for bankruptcy. A disappointing announcement was made on the Angie's Facebook page, with the news that all 70 locations would be closed after the final customers leave on Aug. 5, 2026.

Angie’s is not being affected by the closure, which is a chain owned by Salad and Go’s co-founders, Tony and Roushan Christofellas, who exited the salad chain in 2021. The salad company was sold to an investment firm at the time.

Salad and Go filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Aug. 4. This usually gives the company time to reorganize in an attempt to remain open. However, it looks like the chain has decided to bring everything to a close, and this may not come as a surprise to many. The chain had originally closed 40 stores in September 2025 due to financial problems.

Even before that, there were issues within the company. After originally becoming one of the fastest-growing concepts in the United States, in 2022, Wingstop’s CEO Charlie Morrison was hired. However, he left two years later to work with Jersey Mike’s, and Mike Tattersfield, who was the CEO of Krispy Kreme, took over. That was when Tattersfield decided to close 40 restaurants in Oklahoma and Texas, leaving just Nevada and Arizona.

Many loyal customers have commented that the restaurants were always packed and the food was reasonably priced, so they can only assume that “mismanagement” caused the bankruptcy issues. However, Fast Company shared that in July 2026, the company's competitors saw significant foot-traffic drops, which alludes to Salad and Go also facing problems, as just the smallest of drops in foot traffic has a high impact on a business that operates on close profit margins.

Salad and Go wasn’t directly affected by the recent Cyclospora outbreak that caused issues for Taco Bell and other fast-food chains that sold iceberg lettuce, but it did note that the news about lettuce products did put customers off from risking the purchase of it from anywhere.

In a Facebook statement, Angie's announced that Salad and Go started 13 years ago, and the aim was to bring “good-for-you food” at affordable prices. There was a dream to create a healthier McDonald's, but it wasn’t just about that. According to the Christofellas, the dream was to make “great food affordable for everyone,” according to The New York Post. That’s what Angie’s is all about.

By the late 70s, the rock band Kansas was going through a rough patch trying to develop a worthy hit to land on the radio, with "Carry on Wayward Son" having been their ticket to long-lasting fame from the charts, TV, and even sporting events.

Kansas were working on their fourth studio album, Leftoverture, when they felt that they were diminishing into the backdrop of the rock scene. Guitarist and chief songwriter Kerry Livgren called it a "frustrating time," according to Louder AAA. They were opening for every major name possible at the time, but "nobody would play with us any more" due to being a hard act to follow.

Until 1976, the band had yet to release a hit track that would land them notoriety on the charts, much less become a radio staple. When developing the album, vocalist Steve Walsh experienced writer's block that left the entirety of the songwriting up to Livgren, recalling, "on the very first day of rehearsals, Steve came to me and said that he had nothing – not a single song."

The pressure to develop an entire album wasn't something Livgren relished, but it would result in Kansas's biggest hit track that made them stars: "Carry on Wayward Son." Livgren would develop a new track every night and bring it to rehearsals at a vacant store in a strip mall in Topeka that the band was using. The track was "a song I’d written at the last minute," as the band had the needed seven songs for the album and were ready to pack up and head to a remote Louisiana location to record them.

“We were packing up our stuff when Kerry walked in with his last-minute addition,” drummer Phil Ehart remembers. “For such a very, very special song, it barely made the record.”

Livgren added that once the members heard the track, it changed everything. "Carry on Wayward Son" landed at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was put into heavy rotation, leading it to become a classic rock radio staple.

The track would become a generational staple as it became a sports arena anthem, although it wasn't intended that way. Over the years, NFL teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and Pittsburgh Steelers have played it in pregame warmups and stadium breaks. It's also commonly featured at MLB games by clubs including the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as at NHL and NCAA sporting events, where its iconic opening guitar riff and sing-along chorus make it a popular choice for energizing crowds.

Livgren developed the track with his own life and religious beliefs in mind, as he explained "It’s an autobiographical song. Parallel to my musical career I’ve always been on a spiritual sojourn, looking for truth and meaning. It was a song of self-encouragement. I was telling myself to keep on looking and I would find what I sought."

Part of its charm is its overall energy, with Livgren explaining its an "inspiration" to fans and, "When that a cappella vocal intro kicks in, there isn’t an audience in the world that doesn’t go crazy."

Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, are more in love than ever on their 25th wedding anniversary.

The beloved Irish actor, 73, who has tackled diverse roles in films ranging from Mrs. Doubtfire to James Bond flicks like Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough, wed Smith, 62, back in 2001. But in a new post honoring their anniversary, it's pretty clear their connection is a lasting one.

How Does Brosnan Have Such Great Hair?

Last year, Brosnan had a delightful answer when asked by Page Six why Irishmen seem to have such good heads of hair.

“It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair,” he explained, saying that his father, “Dear Tom…had good hair. I have no idea. Maybe it’s in the potatoes, or the butter, or the Guinness.”

 When told he’s aging like a fine wine, Brosnan said, “I’m doing my best!”

Brosnan recently starred opposite Ben Kingsley and Helen Mirren in The Thursday Murder Club, a Netflix murder mystery based on the popular book by Richard Osman. His character is a bit of a departure from some of his most famous roles.

“I’ve done rough-around-the-edges before,” said Brosnan, who knows a thing or two about being slick, as any 007 fan knows. “So entrenched in the world of the sophisticated man and Mr. Slick and Mr. Elegance, you know, sometimes you paint yourself into a corner with your own…you get hoisted by your own canard so to speak! It’s paid the rent over the years and given me the great joy of having the career that I’ve got.”

When it was suggested that he may be amidst a renaissance thanks to his role in MobLand, Brosnan said he wouldn’t fight the idea as he navigates his seventies.

“If not now, when? The clock is ticking,” he smiled.

Doctors sometimes get it wrong, and Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel is learning all about that. She took to Instagram to share about her “pretty major” misdiagnosis, although she hasn’t gone into the latest details.

Earlier this year, Frankel had opened up about being diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease. It was a scary revelation, which has led to multiple medical appointments and lifestyle changes. However, in her recent checkup, she has learned that this may not be the issue, and it’s left her “very confused.”

The Skinnygirl founder shared on Aug. 3, 2026 via social media that she had been to see a network of medical specialists to review her biometrics. Only then did she get the update that she had previously been misdiagnosed. While she hasn’t fully confirmed that the misdiagnosis was linked to her previous kidney disease announcement, there are signs that it is.

While in the post, she made it clear that she didn’t go to see some “vanity concierge doctor.” She wanted to point out that the specialists are “legitimate” and went on to share that people shouldn’t believe everything they read on the internet or that they get from an AI chatbot.

Frankel went on to share that she had been “operating with the idea that I have this…and it’s very confusing.” She doesn’t want to put the blame on one person, though, and refused to name any names or go into more details. In fact, she hadn’t even planned on sharing the update, but decided that she needed to make sure others were aware that this can and does happen, so that they can get the treatment needed.

This was the same reason the Real Housewives alum let everyone know about her chronic kidney disease diagnosis in the first place. In January, she shared that she wanted to make sure people got their bloodwork done. She wasn’t sure what it meant for her that she had received this diagnosis, and now it’s unclear what she’s living with.

It’s not the first time that the 55-year-old has shared her medical issues with her followers. She has raised awareness about multiple health conditions, including long COVID and POTS, through her social media channels. Her general advice is to get checkups and always turn to medical professionals rather than relying on AI.

Dancing with the Stars alum Sharna Burgess is getting the itch to return to the ballroom.

"I actually think if they were to ask me this year, I would absolutely say yes," Burgess shared with Us Weekly during the first-ever Dancing with the Stars convention, which took place over the weekend.

Burgess, who was a pro on the ballroom dance competition show for 14 seasons, actually shared that there was a "temperature check" conversation last year as to whether or not she'd want to return following her 2021 departure.

"I wasn't ready," she said. "My son was not in school yet, and I was building on other things. I've been acting and doing a lot of other stuff too."

However, the dancer said that the discussion got her thinking about putting on her dance shoes again.

"When I woke up that morning, like a little over less than a year ago, and I was like, 'I need dance back in my life,'" she recalled.

While chatting at the convention, which took place in Palm Springs, Calif. and featured panels and special performances from both pros and previous DWTScontestants, Burgess noted that the weekend-long event had her even more excited about the potential of returning.

"I can't tell you how happy my heart, my soul, and my body is doing this," she said. "And I think I still have a lot more to give."

However, as the show's upcoming season is set — with its cast announcement slated for Sept. 2 and its premiere on Sept. 15 — Burgess knows that participating this year isn't in the cards for her, but she'll be supporting from afar.

"The cast is incredible," she said. "I would never want to get a position, which means someone else doesn't have one. I love all of the women on that cast. They're so powerful. They're so different. I think they're inspiring millions across the country too. So, if there isn't a spot that I could be extra, I will forever be in the audience cheering them on."

Currently, she co-hosts podcast Penthouse with Peta, with fellow former pro Peta Murgatroyd.

Burgess is engaged to actor Brian Austin Green — her Season 30 partner — and took home the Mirrorball Trophy for Season 27 when she was partnered with radio personality Bobby Bones.

She and Green are parents to 4-year-old Zane.

Filming is underway for Crave’s season 2 of Heated Rivalry, starring Hudson Williams as Shane Hollander and Connor Storrie as Ilya Rozanov. With paparazzi already snapping photos of the two walking around Toronto together, Heated Rivalry and Accent Aigu Entertainment posted a joint statement on Instagram asking fans to respect the cast and crew.

“Your support, enthusiasm, and kindness have meant the world together,” the TV series posted. “As we gear up for more Heated Rivalry, please help us in making it the best it can be. If you happen to come across one of our filming locations, please give our cast and crew the space they need to do what they do best.”

The statement concluded with the “Heated Rivalry Family” saying, “We promise it’ll be worth the wait!”

In July, Williams had a tense encounter with what Variety called “autograph hounds.” In a viral video, Williams could be seen stepping out of a car as fans begged, “Please, Hudson,” with photographs in hand.

When Williams got offered a pen to sign the photos, he threw it into the street. He tried to burn their photos with a lighter, but when it wouldn’t catch, he said, “I’m gonna burn this at home.”

With this interaction fresh in the minds of fans, many commented on Heated Rivalry’s post saying that their statement didn’t seem “effective enough.”

In a recent sit-down video interview with Zane Lowe, Charli XCX discussed how the mediums named on her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film, led to legendary horror filmmaker David Cronenberg to guest on the haunting final track "No One Lasts Forever."

The rock-pop star told Lowe that she asked to meet Cronenberg while at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting a movie and was surprised that The Brood director graciously accepted the invite. "We just went for a coffee, and we just spoke about art and life," she said about their meeting, where she admitted to asking him a lot of questions about how he shoots and his art. "We actually got along really well, and he was telling me about this time where he was going home, and he kind of collapsed and had this moment where he was like, 'Oh, okay, I think this is maybe the moment that I'm gonna go.'"

She elaborated, "And, you know, I naively was asking him, like, 'Were you thinking about your work and, like, art?'" and described how that conversation got real existential in the way you'd expect a chat with Cronenberg to go, "He was like, 'No, no, no, no. Obviously not. I was thinking about my loved ones and also just being at peace with that this is the moment.' And that conversation really stuck with me."

While in the studio for Music, Fashion Film with her collaborators A.G. and Finn, Charli felt that "No One Lasts Forever" was missing a spoken outro. "And then I remembered the conversation I'd had with David. And so I sent him some of the album, and I sent him the song and just asked him if he would want to talk at the end if he responded to the song, and he said that he did," XCX explained of how Cronenberg agreed to a feature on a pop album "And so I flew back to Toronto, and we just sat in a studio and had a conversation for an hour where I asked him a bunch of questions. And towards the end of our conversation, he kind of started talking about that story again and then dropped that crazy phrase of 'oblivion is freedom.'" Which, of course, if you've listened to the record front to back, really infuses the album's closing number with cinematic Cronenbergian brushstrokes that evoke deeper questions about mortality.

The outro from Cronenberg is crystallized in the retelling of his near-death experience, which stood out to Charli XCX. The singer revealed that "he was just saying so much amazing stuff—you know, hearing him talk about art. how he sees himself as an artist and a director and a public figure versus [how] he doesn't really see himself as that and then yeah this phrase kind of came out the end." and added how it really summed up the album for her, "It's changed the way I think about a lot of things, actually, that conversation and that song. And what I want from my life, which is really to do the things that I love in the moment that I want to do them and not sort of torture myself thinking about the consequences."

The pop star concluded, "And I think I've always known that in the back of my mind, but hearing, honestly, like a hero of mine sort of say that to me on one of my own songs has really just cemented that for me."

As for Music, Fashion, Film, it's the singer's first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales, also marking her best sales week ever, with 57,000 copies sold in the United States in the week ending July 30, per Luminate. It also tied the chart peak of her previous album, Brat, with a No. 3 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Lindsay Clancy broke her silence, speaking in court for the first time on Tuesday, Aug. 5, to respond to the judge presiding over her case.

Specifically, she was asked if she agreed to a stipulation of facts. This mean that Clancy cannot contest certain facts in the case.

The agreement, which is said to involve facts related to the chain of custody of DNA evidence, could speed up the trial, which was projected to last several weeks.

“Yes, your honor,” Clancy responded.

Clancy is on trial and is charged with the murder of her three children, Cora (5), Dawson (3), and Callan (8-months-old). They were strangled to death in her Duxbury, Mass., home in January 2023. Clancy has pleaded not guilty, but is not denying that she killed her children. Instead, her lawyers are arguing that it was due to her suffering from postpartum psychosis as well as being overmedicated. After killing her children, Clancy jumped out of a second-story window and was paralyzed from the waist down. She and her children were discovered by Clancy's husband, Patrick, who had been out of the house running errands.

Jurors have heard testimony from Patrick as well as many of the first responders. But on Friday, July 31, they left the courtroom and went to the Duxbury home, being able to see where the killings took place. Along with the house, they also visited a CVS in Kingston and a restaurant in Plymouth’s Cordage Park, which is where Patrick visited before finding his wife and children.

General Tips for Keeping Your Arteries Healthy

“The foundation of healthy arteries is actually pretty simple, even if putting it into practice isn't always easy,” Dr. Sirisha Vadali, MD, a non-invasive cardiologist specializing in heart-health prevention, tells Parade.

She adds that one way to keep your arteries strong and flexible is by exercising regularly. According to scientific research, the best type of exercise to support your arteries is a combination of regular aerobic exercise and resistance training. This combination helps with arterial stiffness (how flexible arteries are), endothelial function (how well blood vessels dilate) and blood flow regulation.

When it comes to supporting your arteries through diet, Dr. Vadali recommends eating a wide range of minimally processed, nutrient-rich foods and minimizing ultra-processed foods. Additionally, she explains it’s important to maintain healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels, avoid tobacco, get adequate sleep, manage stress and maintain a healthy weight. 

“Small, sustainable habits practiced consistently over time can have a big impact on long-term cardiovascular health,” she says.

How To Know if You Have Healthy Arteries

Arteries are not like muscles: You can’t look in the mirror and tell what kind of shape they’re in. “Unfortunately, there isn't a simple way to tell if your arteries are healthy based on how you feel, either,” Dr. Vadali says, adding that plaque can build up silently for years before causing symptoms. 

So, how do you know how healthy your arteries are? Get your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels checked. If any of these numbers are outside a healthy range, it’s an indicator that you could likely benefit from making some diet and lifestyle changes (and potentially take a prescription medication), to not only turn your numbers around, but also support your arteries. 

Additionally, if you have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, it’s important to let your doctor know.

“Depending on someone's individual risk factors, their doctor may also recommend additional testing to look for early signs of plaque buildup,” Dr. Vadali explains.

The Popular Drink That Can Clog Arteries

Everything we put into our bodies impacts our health, for better or for worse. That includes what we drink. One popular drink that Dr. Vadali says can negatively affect artery health when consumed regularly is sugar-sweetened tea. Often, this type of drink has just as much added sugar as soda. 

Thought it was just salt that negatively impacts arteries? Consuming excessive amounts of added sugar can also. “[Sugary] drinks can contribute to weight gain, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, elevated triglycerides and chronic inflammation. Over time, those factors increase the risk of plaque building up in the arteries,” Dr. Vadali explains.

To this point, a 2025 meta-analysis published in Nutrition Journal found a strong association between a diet high in sugary beverages (such as soda and sugar-sweetened tea) and elevated risks of mortality and major cardiovascular outcomes, including hypertension, stroke, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.

Besides sugar-sweetened tea, Dr. Vadali says that energy drinks, flavored coffee drinks and fruit juices are other beverages that are often higher in added sugar than many people realize.

What should you drink instead? While nothing beats plain H20, simply opting for unsweetened tea is a great way to avoid the risks that come with drinking sugar-sweetened tea regularly. 

“For people who exercise regularly, spend time outdoors in the heat, or lose a lot of fluid through sweat, electrolyte beverages can certainly have a place too. I just encourage people to read the label because many sports drinks and electrolyte products contain large amounts of added sugar. When possible, choose electrolyte drinks with little or no added sugar,” she tells Parade.

Supporting your arteries requires an overall healthy diet and lifestyle; it doesn’t just come down to one singular food or drink. “Staying active, eating a heart-healthy diet, managing stress, getting enough sleep and keeping up with your preventive care are where you see some of the biggest benefits. When those habits work together, they can make a big difference in your long-term heart health,” Dr. Vadali says.

Don’t underestimate the power of small, sustainable habits—including choosing unsweetened tea instead of sugar-sweetened tea. When done consistently, small habits like this truly can make a difference.

Fortunately, The New York Times has just released their list of the top 50 thrillers of the 21st century, featuring a comprehensive breakdown of some of the greatest suspense novels we've seen thus far in the 2000s.

At the very top of their list, The NY Times selected Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel, Gone Girl, as the best thriller of the century, complimenting the movie for its constant twists and methodical approach to the thriller genre.

"Flynn’s sly, trick-mirror tour de force begins as the fairly straightforward tale of a Missouri woman named Amy Dunne who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary. Could her husband, Nick, be responsible? After all, he’s moody, struggling financially, maybe even having an affair. But Amy’s diaries, which flash back to the couple’s former life in New York and the much rosier beginnings of their romance, reveal other complicating factors. (This story has so many sides, it’s practically a polyhedron.)," the outlet wrote of the book.

"The narrative, with its nimble switchbacks and misdirections, excels at building tension right up to the final thunderclap reveal," the newspaper continued. "But it’s Flynn’s stinging, whipsmart insights — let us all pause here to honor the iconic 'cool girl' monologue — that land Gone Girl its richly deserved spot in the modern pantheon."

Following close behind Flynn's 2012 novel were Dennis Lehane's Mystic River, Tana French's In the Woods, Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men.

Perez Hilton is still in the hospital after first responders arrived at his Miami-area home on Tuesday, Aug. 4. Now, details of a 911 call are being released.

According to Page Six, a call about a "suicide attempt" came in around 10:41 p.m. local time. Emergency personnel arrived at Hilton's home around 11 p.m. "Multiple units" responded to the "active police scene." According to the outlet, the dispatch audio "gave a detailed description of Hilton’s self harm attempts." The gruesome details of the call were not shared by the outlet.

"The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention," a statement from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office read, per the outlet. "The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family."

The blogger and media personality shocked fans when he appeared to engage in self-harm self-harm during a livestream video. Internet users watched in horror as Hilton was covered in blood and appeared to be cutting himself.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls from concerned internet users who watched Hilton’s livestream and feared he was in danger. Deputies responded to the situation and welfare checks were conducted as officials worked to determine what had happened.

The incident quickly spread across social media, with many fans expressing concern for Hilton’s well-being and hoping he received the support and care he needed.

Hilton was reportedly alone in his home at the time of the livestream. He is a father of three children—Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8.

Cash's 1973 Sesame Street appearance also featured his then-3-year-old son, John Carter Cash. The singer adorably picked up his young son, placed him on his lap, and delighted in serenading the toddler with a song about numbers. A more welcoming collaborator than Oscar the Grouch, the younger Cash refrained from insulting his dad when the song was over.

The country star would go on to appear on Sesame Street a total of four times and also guest-starred on The Muppet Show, a reminder that behind Johnny Cash's cool on-stage persona was a playful father who delighted in exchanging snarky comments with a garbage-can-living monster while teaching his young son—and children watching at home—all about numbers.

As any dedicated comedy fan is sure to tell you, John Belushi remains one of the most energetic comedic performers of the past century.

First making a name for himself on NBC's earliest iteration of Saturday Night Live, Belushi soon became a household name thanks to his manic outbursts, agile physical comedy and frequently unpredictable on- and off-screen personality.

Sadly, as skilled a performer as he was, Belushi's life was tragically cut short when he was just 33-years-old, with the actor passing away from a lethal drug cocktail of heroin and cocaine.

Reflecting on the SNL icon's loss over 40 years later, Belushi's Animal House co-star Tim Matheson fondly recalled his larger-than-life cast member on a recent episode of Still Here Hollywood Podcast with Steve Kmetko.

“I can’t say we were — or I was — surprised,” the 78-year-old Matheson said. “He seemed indestructible. He was so strong, and so physically strong, and powerful, and funny — and we all knew his weaknesses, but you just felt ... ‘No, you know, not like that.’"

At the time of Belushi's death, Matheson said he was working on a production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.

“It was such a treasure and a pleasure to know him and work with him," Matheson went on to add.

The start of a new month allows us to look ahead at all the shows and movies getting ready to leave Netflix. Another Arrowverse series is getting ready to depart, as Black Lightning is on the list.

All four seasons are exiting the streaming platform in September. We’re getting closer to all of the shows from the iconic days of The CW leaving Netflix, which means looking around for the new platform — or platforms — they will be on.

When Is ‘Black Lightning’ Leaving Netflix?

Fans have until Aug. 31, 2026, to binge-watch all four seasons of the Cress Williams series. It’s departing at midnight on Sept. 1, 2026.

As with Arrow and other CW shows like Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, the quiet exit from the platform has nothing to do with quality. It’s due to the licensing agreement between The CW and Netflix from the pre-Nexstar days coming to an end. Each show was added to the streaming giant days after season finales aired, and then there was a strict time limit for how long it would remain once a show came to an end.

If you love the Arrowverse, it’s worth checking out Black Lightning. Williams’ titular character did crossover into the rest of the universe during The Flash Season 3 and then in The Flash Season 8, but this was minimal compared to all the other universe shows. It meant that it didn’t feel as integral to the rest of the universe, but it was an excellent series focusing on important social topics with a superhero element to it.

Get Ready for the Rest of the ‘Arrowverse’ To Leave Netflix

Black Lightning isn’t the last of the Arrowverse shows to depart Netflix. Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash remain on the streaming platform for now.

Supergirl is set to depart in December 2026 due to the ending licensing agreement, so you have some time to catch up and rewatch now. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is scheduled to leave in September 2027, while The Flash will remain on Netflix until 2028. That will mark the end of an era.

There isn’t a confirmed new streaming home for Black Lightning just yet. After Arrow left Netflix, it found a home at HBO Max, which makes sense as the CW series was produced by Warner Bros. We’re seeing more moves in which companies are taking back their property.

We could see something similar with Black Lightning. This will depend on whether another platform is interested in licensing the property. When Gilmore Girls left Netflix earlier this year, it went straight to Prime Video rather than HBO Max, which everyone expected. We could end up with a situation where different Arrowverse shows are on different platforms, making buying DVDs and Blu-Rays all the more convenient.

Vacationers sailing through the sunny Mediterranean will soon have a unique opportunity to leave its iconic coastlines a little better than they found them.

The MSC Foundation has officially joined forces with ocean conservation group Asociación Vellmarí to launch "Shallow Bays of the Mediterranean," a three-year conservation and community initiative designed to bring vital underwater habitats back to life.

At the heart of the project is Posidonia oceanica, a essential seagrass species native strictly to the Mediterranean basin. These lush underwater meadows act as natural marine havens, storing blue carbon, stabilizing the seabed, and defending popular beaches from shoreline erosion.

Over the next three years, the new initiative aims to plant up to 180,000 individual seagrass plants across more than 215,000 square feet of degraded coastal areas, expanding restoration work nearly threefold.

Launching first in Talamanca Bay in Ibiza before expanding to major cruise stops in Palma de Mallorca and along the Barcelona coastline, the project is designed to give everyday travelers, local schools, and sea enthusiasts a hands-on role in protecting the ocean. Through citizen science activities, field learning, and volunteer opportunities, the program plans to connect with more than 30,000 people—including 600 hands-on volunteers, local dive centers, and thousands of students.

"How easy it is to destroy these ecosystems, but extraordinarily difficult to restore them. That is why protecting the Posidonia meadows that remain must be our top priority," said Manu San Félix, Founder of Asociación Vellmarí.

The initiative officially kicked off aboard Explora IIIduring the ship's naming ceremony events, where Vellmarí co-founder Cristina Ozores was appointed as the vessel's official Godmother—a movement highlighting the strong bond between ocean travel and active stewardship.

"Every journey to protect the ocean begins with a simple moment: slowing down, discovering its beauty and falling in love with the sea," said Cristina Ozores, Co-founder and Director of Education at Asociación Vellmarí.

By inviting travelers, divers, and locals alike to slow down and participate in marine restoration, the effort turns a standard European getaway into a meaningful opportunity to safeguard the vibrant Mediterranean waters for generations to come.
