Ground Beef Alert Issued in 6 States After Contamination Concerns
If you recently picked up ground beef, you may want to take a closer look at what’s in your fridge—or freezer.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Monday, March 23 for a specific White Oak Pastures ground beef product that “may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal.”
While the item is no longer available for purchase and has not been officially recalled, officials are warning that some packages could still be in consumers’ homes.
According to the FSIS, the affected product was produced on February 26, 2026, and sold in 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packaging labeled “White Oak Pastures, Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef.” It can be identified by establishment number “EST 34729” inside the USDA inspection mark and a sell-by date of March 19, 2026.
Before the alert was issued, the product had already been distributed to retailers, including Mom’s Organic Markets, across Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

According to the FSIS, the issue came to light after the company received two customer complaints. While there have been no confirmed injuries linked to the product, officials remain cautious. Consumers are urged not to consume the ground beef and instead discard it or return it to the store.
A similar situation unfolded in December 2025, when the FSIS announced a recall of over 2,800 pounds of grass-fed ground beef tied to potential E. coli O26 contamination. That product, produced by Mountain West Food Group, was distributed across several states including California, Pennsylvania, and Washington.
To Understand Percy Beauchamp on 'Outlander' Season 8, You Need To Read These Books
One of the biggest issues with adapting books to screen is time. It means that characters don’t get the development that they deserve, and in some cases, it means they don’t get the full introduction that they deserve. Outlander Season 8 has fallen foul to that when it comes to Percy Beauchamp, but there is a bigger reason for that.
While you can read Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldonto get an idea of Percy’s current storyline, the details of his character go much deeper. Because the show hasn’t been able to adapt a specific set of novellas in the Outlander universe, it means a lot has been lost in the storytelling.
Even the ‘Outlander’ Books Don’t Explain Percy FullyEven those who have only read the main Outlander books were thrown for a bit of a loop when Percy Beauchamp was introduced. He came into the story during An Echo in the Bone and stuck around, in search for Claudel — otherwise known to us as Fergus Fraser — and we got a brief backstory in that he is Lord John Grey’s stepbrother.
There is much more to them, as that story alludes. It’s clear that they had romantic feelings for each other, at least at some point, but the main novel doesn’t use the time to explain a lot of that. While Gabaldon says that she writes her books so that you can pick any of them up and not feel like you have to read the others to full understand the story, with Percy and John, you need to read the Lord John Grey novellas.
‘Outlander’ Fans Need To Read the Lord John Grey NovellasPercy’s first introduction is in Lord John and The Private Matter, but it’s just briefly. It’s in Lord John and The Brotherhood of the Blade when we get to know him better, although he’s known as Percy Wainwright at the time. He certainly has a darker backstory than many other characters.
I don’t want to give spoilers from this point, but his relationship with Lord John Grey and the reasons he ends up in France are all explained within the novellas. It’s why so many people have asked that these books be turned into some sort of Outlander spinoff series.
Percy is certainly a man of opportunity and secrets. It’s what makes his search for Fergus so interesting, and it’s going to be exciting to see how it all plays out on the TV series.

Molly Hatch Stoneware Dog Mug, $13 (was $18) at Anthropologie Shop at AnthropologieThis mug features a classic, heritage-inspired design that would feel right at home in a cozy, countryside kitchen. Its blue-and-white palette nods to traditional Delftware, while a more streamlined, graphic approach keeps it feeling fresh and modern.
A sturdy, rounded base and gently tapered rim give it a timeless, hand-thrown pottery look that feels both comforting and substantial to hold. The mug's shape is slightly flared inward or outward, depending on which version you purchase. A delicate contrast line along the rim adds a subtle vintage touch, while the softly rendered dog illustration and simple text below are done in an ink-like style that mimics antique hand-painted ceramics, giving the whole piece an effortlessly charming, collected feel.
There are currently nine different breed options available, with several popular picks included in the sale. Styles featuring a corgi, black lab, French bulldog, dachshund, goldendoodle, and even a mixed-breed design — perfect for celebrating rescue pups — are all discounted right now. One reviewer shared, “This mug has been through the dishwasher so many times and hasn't even started to fade,” while another noted that it “has handled all the wear and tear without a chip.”

'Pioneer Woman' Ree Drummond's Daughter Reveals Genius 99 Cent Trader Joe's Hack
If there's one thing we love, it's the little things that make our lives easier in the long run. Pioneer WomanRee Drummond's daughter, Alex Drummond, seems to be a master at finding these little hacks and sharing them with her fans, and her most recent is one that you'll want to remember.
Drummond's love of Trader Joe's hasn't gone unnoticed, as her social media posts highlight the various items she buys for recipes or snacking. Recently, she posted an Instagram story about her love for Trader Joe's 99-cent cards and why she makes it a habit to toss as many as she can into her cart when she's there.
"Any time I go to Trader Joe’s, I stock up on random cards for bdays/baby showers because they have really cute cards and they’re 99 cents!” she wrote alongside a photo of her holding a handful of cards. "It’s always nice to have cards on hand when you need them for baby showers, bdays, etc."
Drummond is definitely onto something. People have more options than ever when it comes to greeting cards, including digital e-cards and online ordering. However, those are not the cards that most Americans are buying.
"Last-minute buying behavior is a key reason physical cards remain relevant in the U.S., where convenience and immediacy take precedence over long-term planning," Grand View Research claimed in a recent report.
Along with the fact that many of us often buy greeting cards minutes before they're given, the prices of last-minute birthday, baby shower, wedding, and holiday cards keep rising. The biggest reason for the higher cost is the addition of music, pop-ups, and other factors.
“Art and editorial can set a greeting card apart from others,” Carlos Llanso, the Greeting Card Association (GCA) executive director, told the PostPress. “Publishers are leaning into sustainability as well as embellishments. Embellishments and finishing work are crucial for differentiation, as ‘ink on paper’ is not enough anymore.”
With these extra "embellishments" and other additions, birthday cards that are at least $5, some even as high as $9, are not uncommon. Therefore, we are completely on board with Drummond's genius hack that will certainly save all of us quite a bit of money.
'90s Star Julia Stiles Stuns With Natural Beauty, 27 Years After '10 Things I Hate About You'
It's been 27 years since the world fell in love with Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You, and, at 44 years old, there is nothing we hate about her. Not even close, not even a little bit, not at all.
On Tuesday, Mar. 24, the mom of three sat down for a quick get-ready with me video in partnership with Merit Beauty, where Stiles shared that her natural beauty does have a short routine behind it.
While getting ready for a "rare night out" while filming, Stiles began with a joke, telling the camera, "Hi, my name is Julia Stiles and these are 10 things..." before laughing and saying, "No, just kidding. I'm not going to do that."
From there, the Save The Last Dance actress explained how her appreciation of natural beauty was passed down "from a long line of women" and that her grandmother would even tell her not to "gild the lily."
Then, Stiles admitted that "we can all use a little…" before punctuating the moment with a playful kissing sound and a small pinch-like hand gesture, as if to say it just needed a little zhuzh.
Always the self-critic, she went on to question why she didn't wear enough sunscreen in her youth, pointing out the damage it has done to her upper chest now that she's in her 40s.
But it's her no-makeup makeup routine that needs highlighting here because at the root of it, she's definitely focusing on moisture. That's probably why, at 44, she still has a gorgeous natural glow that only took a couple dabs of concealer and bronzer plus a tiny touch of neutral eyeshadow to transform her into an off-screen goddess ready for a night out on the town.
View this post on InstagramStiles admitted that she normally doesn't put that much effort in, opting for an even more natural look for her daily routine, but that she was "feeling a little crazy" and opted to add a couple of extra minutes to add a bit more dimension.
She also opened up about being a teenager in Hollywood and how grateful she was to land the role of Kat Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About Youbecause the role allowed her to play a more serious character who didn't care what anyone else thought of her. It also cemented her icon status and put her firmly on the map as one of Hollywood's most compelling young actresses of the 90s and 2000s.
Is ‘High Potential’ New Tonight (March 24, 2026)? All the Details
Is it just me, or have the last couple of High Potential episodes have been so good? Things are picking up, questions are stacking, and don't even get me started on the whole Roman situation. I've been invested for two seasons now and will not stop talking about how I need more info.
Which brings me to this week. It's Tuesday, March 24, and naturally the question is: are we getting a new High Potentialtonight, or are they about to leave us hanging again? Because at this point, I don’t think any of us are emotionally prepared for more schedule shenanigans when the story is this close to giving us answers.
Is there a new episode of ‘High Potential’ tonight?Thank the programming gods because, yes, there's a new High Potential on March 24. This one is titled "Turn, Up the Heat" and it has our heroine Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) taking a trip down memory lane to ask some old friends for help on this week's case. The investigation involves street artists, and if you remember, her ex Roman was a street artist. So this should be an interesting peek into the people Morgan hung around with before her days as an LAPD consultant.

Matt Lauer and Girlfriend Shamin Abas Are Still Going Strong
Former Today anchor Matt Lauer and his girlfriend, Shamin Abas, are still going strong.
Lauer, 68, who is best known as serving as co-anchor on NBC's iconic morning show, Today, until 2017, was just spotted with Abas in Sag Harbor, New York, on Monday, March 23, PEOPLE reported. The rare sighting of the duo, who prefer to keep a low profile these days, comes almost two months after Brooke Nevils released a memoir, Unspeakable Things, in which she detailed an alleged rape in Lauer's Sochi hotel room in 2014.
In the sighting captured by PEOPLE, Lauer and Abas appear bundled up to brave the cold after departing dinner. Abas walked down the street with her arm hooked into Lauer's. The sighting marks the first time the couple has been spotted by a photographer since November.
Do Lauer and Abas Ever Make Public Appearances Together?Yes. Occasionally, Lauer and Abas will step out to make a public appearance together. The Duo attended The Bridge VIII at The Bridge in 2024, and smiled brightly for the camera in the sunshine.

What Did Brooke Nevils Say About Lauer in Her Book?Nevils, who previously worked at Today, shared in her book that she went to Lauer's hotel room in Sochi "drunk and alone." There, he "insisted on having anal sex" with her. She woke up with pain that was "undeniable," and it "hurt to walk," she said in an excerpt published in The Cut.
Lauer maintained that their relationship was "consensual" and called it “categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense,” Variety reported.
In response to her initial allegations of rape, NBC responded with a statement that read: “Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific, and reprehensible, as we said at the time. That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break again for our colleague.”
When Did Matt Lauer Get Divorced?Lauer was previously married to Annette Roque for 19 years. She filed for divorce in 2019, and he started dating Abas the same year. The former couple has three children together: Jack, Romy, and Thijs.

Chobani's 'Most-Loved' Coffee Creamer Flavor Is Officially Back for a Limited Time
Chobani is delighting fans with the news that one of its "most-loved" limited-batch coffee creamer flavors is officially heading back to store shelves for the season.
This year, the company is kicking off hot-weather vibes early, bringing back its beloved summertime staple: S'mores.
The ChobaniS’mores Coffee Creamer is rich, indulgent, and made with real cream and simple ingredients, the brand promised in a press release shared directly with Parade, and it comes along with a brand-new yogurt flavor, too, as Chobani Flip Peanut Butter S'mores is launching with the returning release. The dairy snack is "a creamy peanut butter-chocolate-marshmallow yogurt with crunchy mix-ins, made with only natural ingredients."
2026 Q1Also back by popular demand, the food giant is reviving its Colombe ready-to-drink S’mores Latte, with notes of cocoa, toasted marshmallow, and graham cracker—the perfect beverage companion to add a splash of Chobani S'mores creamer to.
"Without the campfire, Chobani and La Colombe bring nostalgic S’mores flavor into everyday moments, from morning coffee to a protein-rich afternoon snack break," the brand teased.
With spring having officially sprung, summer is coming soon after (and we can't wait!)—so prepare early by indulging in all-things-summery. The trio of S'mores products will be available at major retailers nationwide for a limited time starting in early April 2026.
Chobani's Fan-Favorite Coffee Creamers: So Many Flavors to TryThe news that Chobani is reviving its S'mores coffee creamer flavor comes after an exciting few months of launches for the brand. In January, new addition Raspberry Rose made waves across social media with its floral, fruity taste.
Late last year, Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Toasted Coconut Vanilla were released in December and said to be "coffee's perfect match," along with the welcoming back of the fan-favorite Confetti Birthday Cake.
Chobani’s “Simple Ingredients” ApproachChobani’s dairy creamers are known for a short ingredient list: real cream, real milk, cane sugar, and natural flavors—with no added oils, emulsifiers, or carrageenan. That’s been the brand’s calling card since it entered the category.
The latest flavors joined the grocery brand’s current available lineup of coffee creamers: Sweet Cream, Vanilla, Hazelnut, Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Macchiato, Cinnamon Coffee Cake, as well as the recent limited-time (and absolutely delicious) holiday 2025 drop, Cookie Butter.

‘Weird Science’ Star Kelly LeBrock Turns 66 and Is Stunning After Ditching Hollywood for Grandchildren
Kelly LeBrock, who is best known for her role in Weird Science, is 66 and better than ever.
The brunette beauty, who played Lisa, the dream girl of Wyatt and Gary (played by Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith) inthe John Hughes-directed flick, was a staple of the '80s. But with her 66th birthday on Tuesday, the screen queen is still absolutely stunning. Back in December, LeBrock sported leather to hit the red carpet at the 7th Annual Vanderpump Dog Foundation Gala at The Maybourne Beverly Hills. While she's opened up about saying goodbye to Hollywood, she still rocks a red carpet when she chooses to make an appearance!
Photo by Amanda Edwards on Getty Images
Why Did Kelly LeBrock Leave Hollywood? In a revealing interview with Fox News Digital, LeBrock explained that she “ran away” from Hollywood after her divorce from Steven Seagal in 1996.
“I was never impressed with myself or Hollywood. I never really cared about it. And I did the right thing,” LeBrock shared.
Instead, LeBrock ditched Los Angeles for a ranch in rural southern California, where she raised her three children, Annaliza, Dominic, and Arissa. She’s surrounded by animals, ranging from chickens and sheep to goats and horses. She’s also a grandmother of three.
“You know, I could always go back to a career, but I couldn’t go back to my children,” she explained. “And that was the most important thing to me, raising my children, because I grew up in boarding school. At five years old, I was sent away. And I didn’t want to have that story for my children.”
LeBrock didn’t feel like she fit in in Hollywood, either.
“The crowd is very ugly, and I didn’t want any part of that,” she told Fox. “I’m really quite shy, and I’m a homebody. I spent the two years of COVID completely by myself, pretty much in the wilderness. And you learn a lot about yourself when you’re not in the noise.”
When Was Weird Science's 40th Anniversary?Last year was Weird Science‘s 40th anniversary. Looking back on the iconic film, LeBrock said she had no idea it would blow up.
“You never think about when you’re doing something, what’s gonna happen,” LeBrock recalled. “You just wanna do a good job and go home. No, you never know. And then sometimes you think something’s gonna be great, and it falls flat on its butt. So yeah, chance is a fine thing.”

'Heated Rivalry' Author Was 'Grumpy' About This 1 Element of Connor Storrie's 'SNL' Appearance
Connor Storrie’s appearance on Saturday Night Live was supposed to be a huge event for him. The Heated Rivalry star has grown in popularity, along with his co-star Hudson Williams, since the release of the series, and the author of the books, Rachel Reid, is all here for it. She wants to support the boys in every way that she can.
That included being at the taping of Storrie’s debut on SNL. However, things didn’t quite work out the way she would have liked, and the appearance of two particular brothers made her “grumpy.”
Rachel Reid Wasn’t Happy About the Hughes Brothers AttendingThe Heated Rivalry author shared with Glamour that she was “pretty grumpy all week” after Jack and Quinn Hughes took to the stage during Storrie’s opening monologue. This was supposed to be the man’s big debut, and instead, she shared it felt like everyone was doing “damage control” following events after the Winter Olympics.
Reid felt like the men’s team was trying to use the popularity of Heated Rivalry after Jack Hughes had already noted that people were being overly negative about the situation between the men and the women’s team.
The women’s hockey team won Gold, and yet, they were faced with some disparaging comments from President Donald Trump. The men were highly praised, and they were immediately invited to the White House. While the women were as well — albeit discouragingly — the women chose not to go, while the men went, setting up some complaints from many people across the nation.
‘Heated Rivalry’ Author Got to Meet the StarsWhen it came to two of the women, Hilary Knight and Megan Keller, making cameo appearances, this wasn’t as bad. In fact, Reid loved it.
During her time at SNL, Reid shared that she got a dressing room right next to Knight and Keller. This gave her the chance to meet the hockey heroes, which was exciting and helped to make the entire experience more positive and enjoyable.
Something that Reid has admitted is that she was “initially disappointed” in how many people were getting into hockey because of her books. That wasn’t the purpose, until she could see what was really happening. People were going to games in the merch from the show, and it brings hope that change can come for the community around the world.

Body Cam Footage Reveals Taylor Frankie Paul’s Heated 2023 Clash with Cops
Taylor Frankie Paul has been at the center of a media storm for weeks now.
And today, March 24, police body cam footage of the night she was arrested in 2023 has been released, showing Paul slurring her words, breaking into fits of tears, and struggling to keep her balance.
The star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and founder of the viral social media influencer group MomTok, Paul was involved in a domestic violence incident three years ago, to which the police were called.
In leaked video of the now infamous fight between Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, the mom of two can be seen throwing barstools at her ex, pulling his hair, and hitting him, while her daughter, now 8, watches from the living room couch.
Body Cam Footage Shows Taylor Frankie Paul's 2023 ArrestIn the body-cam footage released by TMZ today, Paul can be seen getting heated with an officer, who is being calm and “kind” to her. She is visibly intoxicated and struggles to keep her balance as she continuously denies the officer’s requests.
View this post on InstagramThe video begins outside Paul’s home, with the 31-year-old asking, “I’m curious why I’m outside my house, and [Dakota's] inside. Bring him out here.”
As the officer explains, Paul ignores him, enters her home, walks over to Dakota, and kicks him out, with the officer following close behind her.
“We’re trying to be kind right now, OK, and just find out what’s going on,” the officer says.
“OK, you’re good. No worries, you’re being nice, I get it,” she says as she pulls out her phone and calls her dad after being told not to get on the phone.
The conversation with the officer continues, with Paul getting heated at times and asking him what his “job is exactly.” At one point, the officer tells her she needs to "chill" and tells her to lower her voice because her children are in the home.
Later in the video, Paul apologizes to her daughter. The body cam footage concludes with Paul getting arrested for domestic violence. Telling the police she’s “peed her pants,” she puts her arms behind her and the officer places her in handcuffs.
Taylor Frankie Paul Pleads GuiltyThe incident authorities are responding to in the body cam footage happened in the reality TV star’s Utah home.
“As we previously reported ... Taylor later pled guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to 3 years’ probation, which is scheduled to end in August. Prosecutors dropped four other charges, including domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse, and criminal mischief,” TMZ shared.

Beloved 1990s Boy Band Released Its Career-Defining Debut Album 29 Years Ago Today
For die-hard fans in the late '90s and early 2000s, NSYNC was all we ever wanted and, frankly, all we ever needed. In 1997, the boy band made it clear—lyrically, of course—that they got the flow and the skills to keep the party pumpin' all the way until the break of dawn (a party powered by Capri Sun and Kool-Aid Jammers). What we didn't know then is that they'd keep that party pumpin' for nearly three decades and counting.
Twenty-nine years ago, NSYNC released their eponymous debut studio album, NSYNC, marking the beginning of one of the most iconic pop careers of the new millennium. First released on March 24, 1997, in Europe, the album laid the foundation for the group's global success before arriving in the United States a year later.

At the time, NSYNC—made up of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass—was still finding its footing. But their blend of tight harmonies, synchronized choreography, and polished pop production quickly resonated with young audiences. Early singles like "I Want You Back" and "Tearin' Up My Heart" became breakout hits overseas, helping the group build a loyal fanbase before their American breakthrough.
When the album was released in the U.S. on March 24, 1998, it didn't just introduce NSYNC to a wider audience; it defined the sound of an entire era. The late '90s were primed for a boy band resurgence, and NSYNC stood at the forefront alongside groups like the Backstreet Boys.
NSYNC's debut album quickly achieved multi-platinum success—certified Multi‑Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)—for massive sales propelled by relentless radio play, MTV rotation, and a growing teen fan frenzy. It reached 6x Multi‑Platinum status in the U.S. (six million units) by March 1999. Eventually, it sold so many copies that it achieved Diamond certification (10x Platinum) in the United States, reflecting over 10 million units sold.
Just a few years later, the group would release No Strings Attached, shattering sales records and cementing their place in music history.
Since their prime, the members of NSYNC have each taken their own paths. Justin Timberlake launched a hugely successful solo career with multi-award-winning albums, starting with Justified (2002). He also built a flourishing acting, comedy, and production portfolio. JC Chasez also pursued solo music briefly before shifting to songwriting, producing, and mentoring talent on shows like America's Best Dance Crew.
Chris Kirkpatrick focused on voice acting, side music projects, and appearances at fan conventions, while Joey Fatone became a TV host, reality show contestant, and stage actor. Lance Bass ventured into media, hosting, and advocacy work, notably training for space travel and becoming an LGBTQ+ advocate.
The band still occasionally collaborates for special performances, keeping the legacy of their debut—and the hearts of the millions of millennials who fell head-over-heels for them—alive. Tell us what to do now because we want them back.
More Popeyes Locations Are Closing—Here’s What Fans Need to Know
Some Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants are closing as a major franchisee is navigating a Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
According to People, Sailormen, a major franchisee with over 130 Popeyes locations, filed for bankruptcy in January. Some locations owned by Sailormen had already closed in early 2026. However, more recently, three additional locations in Georgia have also shut down.
In total, People noted, about 20 of the franchisee's 130 locations have closed. Their restaurants have been located in Florida and Georgia.
In January, Fast Company reported that Sailormen immediately closed 17 locations after filing for bankruptcy in Florida. The franchisee was "seeking to reject the leases at those locations," the media outlet noted.
The bankruptcy petition cited a decline in foot traffic since the COVID-19 pandemic along with high borrowing rates and inflation as reasons contributing to the need to file bankruptcy. Sailormen indicates they have about $130 million in debt.
Restaurant Business added that the franchisee fell behind on rent in some locations, which prompted legal issues with vendors, their lender, and landlords.
Sailormen may have closed about 20 locations, but overall, Popeyes is still a giant in the fast food chicken market. There are currently more than 5,000 locations worldwide.
The "underperforming" locations closed by Sailormen in January included five in Georgia. Those restaurants were located in Brunswick, Hazlehurst, Jesup, and two in Waycross.
The other Popeyes restaurants closed in January by Sailormen were scattered across Florida. Locations included restaurants in Arcadia, Chiefland, East Palatka, Fort Pierce, Jacksonville, Keystone Heights, and Leesburg. Others in Macclenny, Melbourne, and Tampa were also shut down.
More recently, according to a March 10 filing and reported by USA Today, three additional Georgia Popeyes restaurants are closing. They are located in Baxley, a second location in Brunswick, and Homerville.
Despite the closures and challenges one major franchisee is facing, the president of Popeyes in the U.S. and Canada, Peter Perdue, said the brand as a whole is holding strong.
Perdue stated, "I can confidently tell you that Sailormen's announcement does not reflect the healthy unit economics that you are experiencing in your restaurants."
At the same time, Restaurant Business noted, the first three quarters of 2025 showed same-store sales declines for Popeyes. Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of Popeyes, sought to turn that around in November by naming Perdue the new brand president.
Despite the 20 Popeyes closures by Sailormen so far, Perdue indicated that "a large majority of their restaurants will continue to operate in the Popeyes system."
This 'Easy and Reliable' Sourdough Kit at Costco Includes Everything You Need to Bake a Perfect Loaf
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
There's nothing more gloriously satisfying and simultaneously rage inducing as breadmaking. It's tactile and hands-on, requiring you to tune in to what the dough is saying rather than just blindly following a recipe. You have to become one with the dough and understand that it might require a few adjustments here and there to turn out the way you want. The problem with that is, unless you're a trained boulanger, you probably have no clue what to look for. Sure, a recipe might offer a few clues, but factors like humidity, the type of water you use, and even altitude can affect how your final product turns out.
Even if you've managed to successfully whip up a promising-looking loaf, sometimes the odds just aren't in your favor. Knowing what to look out for is only part of the job, though; the rest is up to the tools you use to bring it all together. While you can certainly make a gorgeous loaf without any special equipment, if you're after bakery-quality artisanal bread that's crusty on the outside and airy and pillowy on the inside, it might be worth investing a little bit.

Nordic Ware Simply Sourdough Starter Kit, $79.99 at Costco Shop It!Although it might look unassuming, this game-changing kit makes breadmaking nearly foolproof—provided you're okay with a little trial and error as you go. The two-in-one aluminum baking pan features a PFAs-free non-stick interior, and the lid doubles as a proofing bowl for your dough once everything is mixed. It's also lighter than a typical cast-iron bread dome or Dutch oven, making it easier to transport, and because you don't have to preheat it ahead of time, it shortens the journey to delicious homemade bread.
In terms of care, avoid using metal utensils or cleaning brushes to keep the nonstick coating intact, and you should probably steer clear of the dishwasher. More importantly, while a cast-iron bread oven from Le Creuset can set you back a whopping $310 and you'll still have to shell out cash for the remaining utensils, this all-inclusive set from Costco will only cost you a meager $79.99.
And if you're still not convinced, the kit has been stress-tested by several shoppers who have given it a healthy 4.5 stars. One person gave it a coveted "10/10" and several others say it's "the perfect 'all in one' starter kit." Naturally, there are a few critical reviews, with some reporting that the dough whisk broke or that their pans developed some mystery stain, but overall, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
