On March 24, 1958, Elvis Presley—already the most famous rock-and-roll star in the world—traded in his rhinestone-studded stage outfits for a U.S. Army uniform. At just 23 years old, Presley was inducted into military service at the height of his career, a move that shocked fans and dominated headlines across the globe.

Elvis had registered for the Selective Service just 11 days after turning 18 in January 1953, during the Korean War. He initially received a student deferment while still in high school. When his draft number came up in 1957, however, the Army wouldn't wait much longer. He was granted a brief delay to finish filming King Creole, but shortly thereafter, he reported for military service.

At the time, Elvis was one of the most-watched performers on television. He had already released multiple No. 1 singles, put out several chart-topping albums, and starred in a string of successful films. His iconic "Jailhouse Rock" and "Heartbreak Hotel" songs, for example, were already world-recognized. Nonetheless, he was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division in Friedberg, West Germany, stationed near the strategically critical Fulda Gap—an area viewed as a potential route for a Soviet invasion during the Cold War.

What made his draft even more memorable was what happened next: his haircut. Known for his signature slicked-back pompadour, Presley's hair was as much a part of his identity as his voice. When the Army required him to conform to standard grooming regulations, however, he willingly sat for what would become one of the most publicized haircuts in history.

What became known as the "haircut heard 'round the world" took place two days after he was drafted, on March 26, 1958, at an Army barracks just west of Memphis, near the Oklahoma border. Inside the barracks was a barber shop (now the Fort Chaffee Elvis Barbershop Museum), where cameras captured every moment as Elvis's famous locks fell to the floor. The photos of his enlistment and haircut symbolize his dramatic shift from rebellious rock-and-roll star to disciplined serviceman.

"Hair today, gone tomorrow," Elvis said before the 55 members of the press who attended his haircut, according to the Veteran's Breakfast Club.

While in Germany, he also reportedly said: "I have no way of telling if my fame is fading. You just don't know. I hope the folks back home haven't forgotten me."

Despite fears that Elvis's career might dwindle during his service, he remained a powerful presence in pop culture. His manager, Colonel Tom Parker, ensured that previously recorded music continued to be released, keeping Presley on the charts while he was stationed overseas. When he returned to civilian life in 1960, he did so not as a forgotten star, but as an even more widely respected icon.

More than six decades later, Elvis's Army induction and that unforgettable haircut still stand as defining moments in music history. They capture a rare intersection of celebrity, duty, and transformation. Even the King of Rock and Roll was reshaped by the times in which he lived.

The cast of the original Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County MTV reality show is back together for the first time in 20 years, and fans are beyond here for it. It was and is really weird; Conrad's exactly right. The cast of then-teens were actual SoCal high school students, and this first-of-its-kind reality show chronicled the ups and downs of their lives. It aired for three seasons, ending in 2006, and was full of gossip, drama, love triangles, heartbreak, and ultimately—friendship.

The trailer gives us laughs and tears and what also appears to be a little peace and healing, which is all fans can hope for this group of former kids who bared their formative years for all the world to see.

Songwriter Chip Taylor has died just two days after his 89thbirthday. Taylor was best known for the 1960s hit song “Wild Thing” by The Troggs.

Billy Vera revealed news of Taylor’s death. The singer, songwriter, and producer shared the sad news on social media about his good friend and colleague.

Taking to Instagram, Vera posted a photo of him with Taylor on the red carpet. Vera kept the caption simple, revealing only that he had lost his friend.

“RIP: Chip Taylor, my friend and songwriting mentor, last night in hospice,” read the caption.

According to TMZ, Taylor died on Monday, March 23, after spending time in hospice care. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Taylor spent his life in music, writing hits like “Angel of the Morning," originally recorded by Evie Sands. It was later recorded by Juice Newton and became a popular country song in the 1980s. The song was also interpolated for Shaggy’s 2001 song “Angel.”

Some of his other popular songs include Willie Nelson’s "He Sits at Your Table," "I Can't Let Go," recorded by Evie Sands, the Hollies, and Linda Ronstadt, and “Worry" by Johnny Tillotson.

Taylor released his own music, too. His first song, "Here I Am," came out in 1962. The songwriter even had his own label, Train Wreck Records, which released various types of music, including folk and country.

The singer and songwriter was born James Wesley Voight. He was the younger brother of actor Jon Voight and uncle to actress Angelina Jolieand James Haven.

Taylor led a quiet, simple life in New York City with his late wife, Joan Carole Frey, who died in June 2025. Along with Voight and Jolie, Taylor is survived by his two children, son James, daughter Kelly, and three grandchildren, Riley, Samantha, and Kate.

RIP Chip Taylor. Our thoughts are with the family at this time.

"Pushover." It’s a bit of a harsh descriptor, but it’s also a pretty clear, understood one. Generally, a “pushover” is someone who’s easily influenced or made to do something. They might be seen as people-pleasers. People might manipulate them into doing something they really don’t want to. You might describe them as “too nice.”

People can act as “pushovers” at any age and stage, unfortunately, including in childhood. While children don’t have as much say as adults do, they should still have some say. Kids who are "pushovers" might always go with what the crowd wants and do things they aren’t comfortable with, just to name a couple of common behaviors. Experiences like that can affect those children, including how they behave as adults. In other words, the ramifications of growing up as a pushover can be long-lasting. 

Ahead, a psychologist shares the signs of a pushover personality, what causes some people to not have strong convictions, if being easily swayed as a kid typically means you’re easily swayed as an adult and nine common traits in adults who were pushovers in childhood. This kind of information can help us feel a bit more compassion and understanding for those with this kind of personality, whether that’s someone else or yourself.

What Are the Signs of a 'Pushover' Personality?

Let’s get expert-backed input on what exactly a pushover is. Essentially, a pushover “tends to make decisions that protect relationships in the hope of being valued, seen or chosen,” according toDr. Rosenna Bakari, PhD, a psychologist, educator, empowerment expert and author of Seven Exits: Leave Behind What No Longer Serves You.

This aspect of someone’s personality can stem from childhood experiences, especially those where obedience was highly valued.

“Children learn to make those kinds of decisions through repeated relational experiences that teach them that cooperation and compliance are safer than conflict or disobedience,” Dr. Bakari says.

What Causes People To Be 'Pushovers'?

Besides learning that perspective about compliance and obedience, these children begin to identify with it. They're the “good kid” who doesn’t argue, complain or disappoint others. Rather, they're always the ones keeping the peace. 

Dr. Bakari describes the developmental messages that shape pushover tendencies as SEEDs, or subtle experiences of emotional disempowerment.

“These are small, repeated relational experiences that teach a child that their voice, preferences or boundaries are inconvenient, unwanted or even unsafe,” she explains.

After decades of experience, she’s found that people who develop pushover patterns were often raised in environments where: 

• Disagreeing was interpreted as disrespect.
• “Putting others first” was a command rather than a value.
• Praise was tied to being compliant or “easy.”
• Feelings were dismissed instead of validated.
• Children were expected to keep the peace.
• Failure was punished, making risk-taking feel unsafe.

“Over time, these SEEDs don’t just shape behavior; they shape identity,” she continues. “What began as a strategy for belonging can slowly solidify into an adult personality.”

In other words, the patterns continue. People say “yes” when they mean “no,” avoid difficult conversations, apologize for others, feel responsible for other people’s emotions and disregard their own needs.

If You Were a 'Pushover' as a Kid, Does That Mean You’re One as an Adult Too?

While those patterns can continue, they aren’t fixed identities, according to Dr. Bakari. Experiences with emotional safety, autonomy and therapeutic support can help an adult overcome them.

Removing shame and realizing what was once a protective strategy is now a restrictive one can also help.

“When adults understand the SEEDs that shaped them, they gain the power to choose differently,” Dr. Bakari says.

9 Traits of Adults Who Were ‘Pushovers’ in Childhood, Psychologist Says

What does a child “pushover” look like as an adult? How did those experiences affect them? Dr. Bakari answers those questions below.

1. Feeling like life is unfair

Do you feel like a victim because of your felt need to be in constant compliance? That’s one concern.

“Compliance protects children; it disempowers adults,” Dr. Bakari says.

2. Overextending socially to feel valued

Doing “the most” is another sign.

“They may become overly available or highly social to gain recognition and belonging, often with few personal boundaries in place,” Dr. Bakari says.

3. Difficulty holding boundaries

These individuals may not only set few (if any) boundaries, but also struggle to maintain them.

“Being chosen, included or approved of can still feel like the primary goal,” Dr. Bakari explains. “As a result, they don’t trust themselves to hold firm limits.”

4. Overcommitting

People who were “pushovers” as children might go above and beyond to show others they’re loyal.

“They may take on too much to demonstrate reliability and avoid perceived abandonment,” Dr. Bakari shares.

5. Suppressed anger and hidden resentment

Don’t be fooled by the vibes they're giving off.

“While they appear agreeable on the outside, resentment can build beneath the surface, which may cause them to isolate or self-harm,” Dr. Bakari says.

6. Searching for rescue

People who want someone to “save” them may have grown up with a pushover personality.

“There may be a lingering desire for someone to finally show up and meet their unspoken needs as a partner, friend or leader who instinctively understands them,” Dr. Bakari states.

7. Blurred understanding of boundaries

Boundaries can be difficult not only to set and maintain, but to understand—within themselves and with others.

“Because their own boundaries were underdeveloped, they may struggle to recognize or respect the limits of others,” Dr. Bakari explains. “Boundaries can feel confusing, rejecting or unnecessary.”

8. Push-pull attachment patterns

After growing up as a pushover, closeness can feel both desirable and threatening.

“They may invite people in while simultaneously keeping emotional distance, unsure how to trust stability,” Dr. Bakari says.

9. High empathy and low self-advocacy

These two can go hand in hand as the adult focuses more on others than themselves.

“Many adults who grew up as pushovers are deeply compassionate and relationally intelligent, yet struggle to extend that same protection and advocacy to themselves,” explains Dr. Bakari.

If you identify with any of those traits or know someone who does, there’s no shame or judgment at all. Use this information to promote empathy and understanding. It’s well-deserved.

If you recently picked up ground beef, you may want to take a closer look at what’s in your fridge—or freezer.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Monday, March 23 for a specific White Oak Pastures ground beef product that “may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal.” 

While the item is no longer available for purchase and has not been officially recalled, officials are warning that some packages could still be in consumers’ homes.

According to the FSIS, the affected product was produced on February 26, 2026, and sold in 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packaging labeled “White Oak Pastures, Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef.” It can be identified by establishment number “EST 34729” inside the USDA inspection mark and a sell-by date of March 19, 2026.

Before the alert was issued, the product had already been distributed to retailers, including Mom’s Organic Markets, across Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

According to the FSIS, the issue came to light after the company received two customer complaints. While there have been no confirmed injuries linked to the product, officials remain cautious. Consumers are urged not to consume the ground beef and instead discard it or return it to the store.

A similar situation unfolded in December 2025, when the FSIS announced a recall of over 2,800 pounds of grass-fed ground beef tied to potential E. coli O26 contamination. That product, produced by Mountain West Food Group, was distributed across several states including California, Pennsylvania, and Washington.

One of the biggest issues with adapting books to screen is time. It means that characters don’t get the development that they deserve, and in some cases, it means they don’t get the full introduction that they deserve. Outlander Season 8 has fallen foul to that when it comes to Percy Beauchamp, but there is a bigger reason for that.

While you can read Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldonto get an idea of Percy’s current storyline, the details of his character go much deeper. Because the show hasn’t been able to adapt a specific set of novellas in the Outlander universe, it means a lot has been lost in the storytelling.

Even the ‘Outlander’ Books Don’t Explain Percy Fully

Even those who have only read the main Outlander books were thrown for a bit of a loop when Percy Beauchamp was introduced. He came into the story during An Echo in the Bone and stuck around, in search for Claudel — otherwise known to us as Fergus Fraser — and we got a brief backstory in that he is Lord John Grey’s stepbrother.

There is much more to them, as that story alludes. It’s clear that they had romantic feelings for each other, at least at some point, but the main novel doesn’t use the time to explain a lot of that. While Gabaldon says that she writes her books so that you can pick any of them up and not feel like you have to read the others to full understand the story, with Percy and John, you need to read the Lord John Grey novellas.

‘Outlander’ Fans Need To Read the Lord John Grey Novellas

Percy’s first introduction is in Lord John and The Private Matter, but it’s just briefly. It’s in Lord John and The Brotherhood of the Blade when we get to know him better, although he’s known as Percy Wainwright at the time. He certainly has a darker backstory than many other characters.

I don’t want to give spoilers from this point, but his relationship with Lord John Grey and the reasons he ends up in France are all explained within the novellas. It’s why so many people have asked that these books be turned into some sort of Outlander spinoff series.

Percy is certainly a man of opportunity and secrets. It’s what makes his search for Fergus so interesting, and it’s going to be exciting to see how it all plays out on the TV series.

If there's one thing we love, it's the little things that make our lives easier in the long run. Pioneer WomanRee Drummond's daughter, Alex Drummond, seems to be a master at finding these little hacks and sharing them with her fans, and her most recent is one that you'll want to remember.

Drummond's love of Trader Joe's hasn't gone unnoticed, as her social media posts highlight the various items she buys for recipes or snacking. Recently, she posted an Instagram story about her love for Trader Joe's 99-cent cards and why she makes it a habit to toss as many as she can into her cart when she's there.

"Any time I go to Trader Joe’s, I stock up on random cards for bdays/baby showers because they have really cute cards and they’re 99 cents!” she wrote alongside a photo of her holding a handful of cards. "It’s always nice to have cards on hand when you need them for baby showers, bdays, etc."

Drummond is definitely onto something. People have more options than ever when it comes to greeting cards, including digital e-cards and online ordering. However, those are not the cards that most Americans are buying.

"Last-minute buying behavior is a key reason physical cards remain relevant in the U.S., where convenience and immediacy take precedence over long-term planning," Grand View Research claimed in a recent report.

Along with the fact that many of us often buy greeting cards minutes before they're given, the prices of last-minute birthday, baby shower, wedding, and holiday cards keep rising. The biggest reason for the higher cost is the addition of music, pop-ups, and other factors.

“Art and editorial can set a greeting card apart from others,” Carlos Llanso, the Greeting Card Association (GCA) executive director, told the PostPress. “Publishers are leaning into sustainability as well as embellishments. Embellishments and finishing work are crucial for differentiation, as ‘ink on paper’ is not enough anymore.”

With these extra "embellishments" and other additions, birthday cards that are at least $5, some even as high as $9, are not uncommon. Therefore, we are completely on board with Drummond's genius hack that will certainly save all of us quite a bit of money.

It's been 27 years since the world fell in love with Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You, and, at 44 years old, there is nothing we hate about her. Not even close, not even a little bit, not at all.

On Tuesday, Mar. 24, the mom of three sat down for a quick get-ready with me video in partnership with Merit Beauty, where Stiles shared that her natural beauty does have a short routine behind it.

While getting ready for a "rare night out" while filming, Stiles began with a joke, telling the camera, "Hi, my name is Julia Stiles and these are 10 things..." before laughing and saying, "No, just kidding. I'm not going to do that."

From there, the Save The Last Dance actress explained how her appreciation of natural beauty was passed down "from a long line of women" and that her grandmother would even tell her not to "gild the lily."

Then, Stiles admitted that "we can all use a little…" before punctuating the moment with a playful kissing sound and a small pinch-like hand gesture, as if to say it just needed a little zhuzh.

Always the self-critic, she went on to question why she didn't wear enough sunscreen in her youth, pointing out the damage it has done to her upper chest now that she's in her 40s.

But it's her no-makeup makeup routine that needs highlighting here because at the root of it, she's definitely focusing on moisture. That's probably why, at 44, she still has a gorgeous natural glow that only took a couple dabs of concealer and bronzer plus a tiny touch of neutral eyeshadow to transform her into an off-screen goddess ready for a night out on the town.

Stiles admitted that she normally doesn't put that much effort in, opting for an even more natural look for her daily routine, but that she was "feeling a little crazy" and opted to add a couple of extra minutes to add a bit more dimension.

She also opened up about being a teenager in Hollywood and how grateful she was to land the role of Kat Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About Youbecause the role allowed her to play a more serious character who didn't care what anyone else thought of her. It also cemented her icon status and put her firmly on the map as one of Hollywood's most compelling young actresses of the 90s and 2000s.

Is it just me, or have the last couple of High Potential episodes have been so good? Things are picking up, questions are stacking, and don't even get me started on the whole Roman situation. I've been invested for two seasons now and will not stop talking about how I need more info.

Thank the programming gods because, yes, there's a new High Potential on March 24. This one is titled "Turn, Up the Heat" and it has our heroine Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) taking a trip down memory lane to ask some old friends for help on this week's case. The investigation involves street artists, and if you remember, her ex Roman was a street artist. So this should be an interesting peek into the people Morgan hung around with before her days as an LAPD consultant.

Former Today anchor Matt Lauer and his girlfriend, Shamin Abas, are still going strong.

Lauer, 68, who is best known as serving as co-anchor on NBC's iconic morning show, Today, until 2017, was just spotted with Abas in Sag Harbor, New York, on Monday, March 23, PEOPLE reported. The rare sighting of the duo, who prefer to keep a low profile these days, comes almost two months after Brooke Nevils released a memoir, Unspeakable Things, in which she detailed an alleged rape in Lauer's Sochi hotel room in 2014.

In the sighting captured by PEOPLE, Lauer and Abas appear bundled up to brave the cold after departing dinner. Abas walked down the street with her arm hooked into Lauer's. The sighting marks the first time the couple has been spotted by a photographer since November.

What Did Brooke Nevils Say About Lauer in Her Book?

Nevils, who previously worked at Today, shared in her book that she went to Lauer's hotel room in Sochi "drunk and alone." There, he "insisted on having anal sex" with her. She woke up with pain that was "undeniable," and it "hurt to walk," she said in an excerpt published in The Cut.

Lauer maintained that their relationship was "consensual" and called it “categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense,” Variety reported.

In response to her initial allegations of rape, NBC responded with a statement that read: “Matt Lauer’s conduct was appalling, horrific, and reprehensible, as we said at the time. That’s why he was fired within 24 hours of us first learning of the complaint. Our hearts break again for our colleague.”

One of classic rock’s most enduring hitmakers is showing no signs of slowing down in its milestone year.

Foreignerhas added new 2026 tour dates as part of its massive 50th anniversary celebration, expanding an already packed global run that now includes more than 90 shows.

The newly announced stops include Albuquerque, El Paso, Scottsdale and Reno, adding to a schedule that has already seen numerous sold-out concerts across the U.S. and Europe. The anniversary celebration will continue into 2027, marking 50 years since the release of the band’s self-titled debut album in March 1977.

The milestone year has been anything but ordinary. Alongside the touring schedule, the band is branching into new territory with Feels Like The First Time – The Foreigner Musical, premiering April 17–26, 2026, at Long Island University. Directed by Broadway veteran Adam Pascal, the production is set in 1985 and follows a suburban family whose lives are transformed after winning an MTV contest that brings a rock star into their home.

The anniversary rollout has also included multiple live formats. The year began with an intimate acoustic run in Colorado, followed by an orchestral residency in Las Vegas and a performance with the San Diego Symphony.

Founding member Mick Jones said, “When I started Foreigner in 1976, I never could have imagined that these songs would carry us through fifty years and still resonate with audiences around the world. This anniversary year is a celebration not just of the music, but of the fans who have been with us every step of the way.”

In April, the band will reunite with original lead singer Lou Gramm for a special Florida run tied to Foreigner 4 Deluxe, performing the album 4 in full alongside many of their biggest hits.

The celebration continues this summer with a 26-date European tour, followed by the “Double Trouble Double Vision” co-headlining run with Lynyrd Skynyrd beginning July 23.

Beyond the stage, Foreigner is also set to release a new concert film, In The Eye of The Storm, captured during a 2025 performance on Ellis Island. The project features Gramm and special guests, documenting a rare moment in the band’s long history.

With more than 80 million albums sold and a catalog that includes “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and the No. 1 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is,” Foreigner’s 50th anniversary is shaping up to be one of the most expansive celebrations any classic rock band has mounted.

Why Did Kelly LeBrock Leave Hollywood?

In a revealing interview with Fox News Digital, LeBrock explained that she “ran away” from Hollywood after her divorce from Steven Seagal in 1996.

“I was never impressed with myself or Hollywood. I never really cared about it. And I did the right thing,” LeBrock shared.

Instead, LeBrock ditched Los Angeles for a ranch in rural southern California, where she raised her three children, Annaliza, Dominic, and Arissa. She’s surrounded by animals, ranging from chickens and sheep to goats and horses. She’s also a grandmother of three.

“You know, I could always go back to a career, but I couldn’t go back to my children,” she explained. “And that was the most important thing to me, raising my children, because I grew up in boarding school. At five years old, I was sent away. And I didn’t want to have that story for my children.”

LeBrock didn’t feel like she fit in in Hollywood, either.

“The crowd is very ugly, and I didn’t want any part of that,” she told Fox. “I’m really quite shy, and I’m a homebody. I spent the two years of COVID completely by myself, pretty much in the wilderness. And you learn a lot about yourself when you’re not in the noise.”

When Was Weird Science's 40th Anniversary?

Last year was Weird Science‘s 40th anniversary. Looking back on the iconic film, LeBrock said she had no idea it would blow up.

“You never think about when you’re doing something, what’s gonna happen,” LeBrock recalled. “You just wanna do a good job and go home. No, you never know. And then sometimes you think something’s gonna be great, and it falls flat on its butt. So yeah, chance is a fine thing.”

Connor Storrie’s appearance on Saturday Night Live was supposed to be a huge event for him. The Heated Rivalry star has grown in popularity, along with his co-star Hudson Williams, since the release of the series, and the author of the books, Rachel Reid, is all here for it. She wants to support the boys in every way that she can.

That included being at the taping of Storrie’s debut on SNL. However, things didn’t quite work out the way she would have liked, and the appearance of two particular brothers made her “grumpy.”

The Heated Rivalry author shared with Glamour that she was “pretty grumpy all week” after Jack and Quinn Hughes took to the stage during Storrie’s opening monologue. This was supposed to be the man’s big debut, and instead, she shared it felt like everyone was doing “damage control” following events after the Winter Olympics.

Reid felt like the men’s team was trying to use the popularity of Heated Rivalry after Jack Hughes had already noted that people were being overly negative about the situation between the men and the women’s team. 

The women’s hockey team won Gold, and yet, they were faced with some disparaging comments from President Donald Trump. The men were highly praised, and they were immediately invited to the White House. While the women were as well — albeit discouragingly — the women chose not to go, while the men went, setting up some complaints from many people across the nation.

‘Heated Rivalry’ Author Got to Meet the Stars

When it came to two of the women, Hilary Knight and Megan Keller, making cameo appearances, this wasn’t as bad. In fact, Reid loved it.

During her time at SNL, Reid shared that she got a dressing room right next to Knight and Keller. This gave her the chance to meet the hockey heroes, which was exciting and helped to make the entire experience more positive and enjoyable.

Something that Reid has admitted is that she was “initially disappointed” in how many people were getting into hockey because of her books. That wasn’t the purpose, until she could see what was really happening. People were going to games in the merch from the show, and it brings hope that change can come for the community around the world.
