5 Major Changes on ‘The Forsytes’ From the Books That Affect Everything

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:30pm

When books are adapted into TV shows and movies, we’re used to changes. Sometimes, a storyline just doesn’t work anymore, or there are elements that can’t transcribe from book to show. In other cases, it’s all due to time available in the forms of storytelling. The Forsytescertainly could have had all of those problems, but showrunner Debbie Horsfield decided to change almost everything.

She made it clear ahead of the PBS show's premiere that the series wouldn’t follow The Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy. Instead, this new series is just “inspired” by the books, taking the characters and keeping some elements of the plot, but taking many storylines in completely different directions, and here are five changes that affect everything.

The Introduction of Louisa Byrne

From the beginning of The Forsytes Season 1, we knew that there would be a major change with the introduction of the dressmaker, Louisa Byrne. At the mention of the name “Forsyte,” her face dropped as she realized that she could end up coming face-to-face with a man she once loved.

Sure enough, we got a small flashback in the first season, and it’s clear that this previous romance is going to come up again. It’s time for a love triangle that isn’t in the books, creating some romantic drama for viewers, but also threatening Joylan’s entire arc from The Forsyte Saga.

Focus on the Female Characters

The books are mostly focused on the male characters. While women like June and Frances get some mentions, they’re not fully developed characters. This was the main reason for the idea that the series would be inspired by the books. The aim is to make the series and the stories more progressive in nature.

After all, the 1800s was a major time of change for women. They were slowly realizing that they could have something more, but it wasn’t all that easy. We now get to see how the different generations handle that in a similar way that Downton Abbey did.

Jolyan Is June’s Stepfather

While initially it seems like a small change, opting for Jolyan to be June’s stepfather rather than biological one affects everything. For one, it makes him a completely different man to so many others of his time. Just look at the way his uncle referred to June as a brat that Jolyan would now need to look after.

Jolyan enjoys being a father to June, whose biological father has died. They create a friendship and there’s an element of respect between them that could only happen with this change. It also makes Jolyan’s decisions much harder in the season, as he finds himself torn between two women.

Irene Isn’t Disgusted By Soames

In the novels, Irene ends up marrying Soames, but the reasons for it don’t make a lot of sense. She despises the man, and that’s not surprising why. Soames isn’t a character to like in any way, shape, or form. In fact, he turns out to be an abuser and a rapist, and who could ever root for a character or relationship like that?

The Forsytes changes everything by making Soames a more likable character. Sure, he’s not perfect, but there is room for growth, and it’s not like he’s so detestable that it makes no sense for Irene to fall for him. This opens the door for a real relationship that we can root for, without adding more to Jolyan’s story.

Jolyan Taking Over the Family Business

At the end of The Forsytes Series Premiere, Old Jolyan announces that his son will take over the family business. Now, this could change as the season progresses, but for now, there is a substantial change to Jolyan’s story. In the books, he doesn’t get this opportunity, stepping away from the family business to pursue his artistic nature.

It does look like Jolyan has already been able to spread his wings, and that he’s decided to follow duty rather than passion. This could be linked to marrying Frances and taking in June as his own. It’s only after his father’s death that he takes over the legacy in the books, but that would mean losing a master of the arts like Stephen Moyer, and The Forsytes probably doesn’t want to do that!

Crofton Floral 2-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven, $19.99 at Aldi

Aldi

Hitting stores on Wednesday, March 25, Crofton's Floral 2-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven couldn't have arrived at a better time. With spring rolling in and Easter right around the corner, it's the perfect cookware upgrade to bring pastel colors and a charming vibe to your kitchen.

Upon arrival, shoppers can expect to find burgundy, lilac, blue and pink colors in stock, with Lilac and Blue stealing the show in our opinion. No matter which color you choose, it comes with a long-lasting porcelain enamel interior and exterior, superior heat retention and distribution and a two-year warranty to help you get started with your new cast iron piece. It also features Crofton's classic stainless steel knob affixed to a gorgeous floral-print enameled lid.

Best of all, this sucker is compatible with all cooktops, including induction, as well as oven safe up to 482°F, making it ideal for oven-to-table serving, creative recipes and more. Cast-Iron Care and Tips

Speaking of easy meals, having a cast-iron Dutch oven in your corner is your ticket to some of the easiest, most flavorful recipes you'll ever make. And while this two-quart offering is perfect for small portions and appetizers alike, don't think it will ever hold you back in the kitchen; that couldn't be further from the truth.

With a two-quart Dutch oven in your kitchen, the possibilities are actually much bigger than the size suggests. From single-serve casseroles, savory soups and hearty stews to small-batch baked pasta, breads and desserts, it's the perfect tool for experimenting with seasonal ingredients, whipping up quick weeknight dinners or impressing guests with personalized appetizers straight from the oven.

Aldi

And when it comes time to clean, its long-lasting porcelain interior and exterior wipes clean with ease and can be deep cleaned with a light soap and a sponge without needing to toss it in the dishwasher. That said, we'd recommend refraining from using abrasive scrubbers and giving it an immediate towel dry after each wash. Additionally, you'll want to stick with wooden or silicone utensils to avoid damaging the interior surface during use.

Don't miss out on snagging one (or two!) of these spring-ready Dutch ovens while they're here this week. And if you're on the hunt for more seasonal essentials, be sure to check out Aldi's adorable Easter floor mats and cottage-style tablecloths

Elysian Brewing Just Launched a New Tropical Hazy IPA for Spring Adventures

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:25pm

Spring beer season tends to bring a wave of lighter lagers and fruit-forward ales, but Elysian Brewing is taking a different approach this year. The Seattle-based brewery has introduced Jacktail Hazy IPA, a new tropical-leaning release designed to pair just as easily with hiking trails and campfires as it does with a backyard cooler.

The new beer joins Elysian's growing IPA lineup, building on the momentum of Space Dust, the brewery's flagship hazy-adjacent IPA that has become one of the most recognizable craft beers in the country.

A Tropical Take on the NEIPA Style View this post on Instagram

Hazy IPAs, also called New England IPAs (NEIPA), have remained one of the most popular craft beer styles over the past decade thanks to their softer bitterness and fruit-forward flavor profiles. Instead of the piney, aggressively bitter character that defined West Coast IPAs, hazy IPAs typically emphasize juicy notes like mango, pineapple, citrus and stone fruit, often with a smoother, almost creamy mouthfeel.

Jacktail leans into that interpretation, positioning itself as a tropical, easy-drinking IPA aimed at outdoor occasions. The brewery describes the beer as an homage to its Pacific Northwest roots while embracing the adventurous spirit that has long defined craft beer culture.

That positioning makes sense given how hazy IPAs have evolved. While early craft IPAs were often judged by bitterness alone—a profile that largely defined the West Coast IPA movement—today's drinkers tend to gravitate toward balance, aroma, and drinkability. Tropical hop aromatics and lower perceived bitterness have helped broaden the appeal of the style beyond traditional IPA hop-loving fans.

Growing From Space Dust

The launch also reflects Elysian's continued growth in the IPA category. The popularity of Space Dust—a beer that earned a 91 rating on Beeradvocate—has helped establish the brewery as a major player in the craft beer world, and expanding the lineup with another permanent IPA offering shows how important the style remains to the brand's identity.

Adding another hazy IPA also aligns with broader industry trends. Brewers across the country continue to experiment within the style, finding new ways to deliver bold aroma without overwhelming bitterness, often targeting drinkers looking for flavorful but approachable options.

With Jacktail Hazy IPA positioned as a spring and outdoor-friendly release, Elysian appears to be aiming for exactly that balance: a beer with enough hop character to satisfy IPA fans but enough smoothness to appeal to casual craft drinkers.

As warmer weather approaches, the timing makes sense. For many beer fans, spring marks the return of camping trips, patio cookouts, and outdoor concerts—and breweries know those moments often shape what ends up in the cooler.

'Below Deck' Chef Reveals the Brutal Truth About Cooking on Superyachts

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:22pm

While most crew members think they have the hardest job in yachting, Below Deck Down Under Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph explains exactly why yacht chefs hustle the hardest.

In a recent Islander Magazine article, Tzarina says going from working as a chef on land was mere child's play compared to cooking on a superyacht. She says the pressures, especially those solo yacht chefs face, have "shaped me." These pressures include working in cramped, often poorly designed galleys while juggling constant sourcing challenges and last-minute changes. They carry full responsibility for every meal, balancing high-end guest expectations with crew morale, all while enduring long hours with little rest and no room for error.

"I developed resilience, adaptability, and a mental toughness few land chefs ever need," she wrote. "The chaos of a charter, a missing ingredient, or equipment failure taught me resourcefulness. I built a calmness under pressure that no training course could ever teach."

Back on land, when she works in kitchens or private households, "they feel easier in context," she explained. "The expectations are still high, but the variables are fewer. Yachting taught me to anticipate the impossible."

View this post on Instagram

Her advice to yacht chefs: embrace the unique challenges of the role, advocate for better galley design, and prioritize crew meals to support morale. Just as important is protecting mental health and viewing the experience as a valuable stepping stone for future opportunities.

"To every chef who’s burned garlic at 3 a.m. or plated 25 covers in a rolling sea after provisioning at midnight — I see you," she shared. "The pressure is real. The sacrifice is real. But so is the growth. If you walk away from yachting, you carry with you a mastery few others will ever understand. Kitchens ashore will feel lighter. Careers will bend to your strength, your adaptability, and your ability to thrive when nothing else is stable."

Tzarina added, "To the next chef stepping into the galley: hold your head high. You’re doing one of the hardest jobs in hospitality — and no one can take that away from you."

Below Deck Down Under is on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Henry Thomas, Known as Elliott in ‘E.T.,’ Recalls Thinking He ‘Lost the Part the Minute I Opened My Mouth'

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:21pm

Henry Thomas rose to stardom as Elliott in the 1982 blockbuster E.T., but the child star thought that he had completely blown the audition.

Thomas, 54, earned acclaim for his role in the science fiction film, which was produced and directed by Steven Spielberg and told the story of an extraterrestrial named E.T. that gets stranded on Earth. Co-starring Dee Wallace and Drew Barrymore, the film went down in history as a classic and dominated the box office. But in a revealing new interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywoodpodcast, Thomas, who normally avoids the spotlight these days, admitted that he thought he lost the role.

“I felt like I had done the worst job possible,” Thomas shared in the podcast interview. “I thought I blew it the minute I opened my mouth.”

What Happened During His Audition?

During the interview, which has gone viral in recent years, Thomas got very emotional and started to cry when Spielberg told him he needed to act as if his friend was being taken away.

"You can't take him," Thomas said, PEOPLE reported. "You can't take him away, he's mine!"

When the clip ends, Spielberg can be heard in the background saying, "Okay, kid, you got the job."

However, Thomas says there's more you didn't see in that clip.

"felt like I had done the worst job possible," said Thomas. "I felt like I had lost the part the minute that I opened my mouth and uttered the first line on the page. And so when you see the audition tape that exists, at the very beginning, if you look at my face, I'm looking down and I look really sad and defeated."

Thomas went on, saying, "And that's why, because I thought I blew it. So I'm sitting here thinking, 'Oh man, you just, you, you had an opportunity and you let it go.' And then, you know, obviously, they also noticed that it wasn't working. I wasn't wrong, that it was bad."

1970 No. 1 Hit Became a Beloved Breakup Anthem

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:19pm

Long before breakup playlists and sad-girl pop ruled streaming, one song captured the devastation of love gone wrong in under three minutes.

When "Band of Gold" by Freda Payne was released in 1970, it became the top song in Ireland and the United Kingdom for six weeks, and peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 over the summer. The track was written by Lamont Dozier, Ron Dubar and Brian and Eddie Holland, and it tells the story of a girl who is recently married to a husband who is incapable of loving her, resulting in the couple sleeping in seperate rooms on their honeymoon. There are many interpretations of the song, including one theory that the husband was gay and that was the cause of the breakup. There are also other theories that the man was impotent.

View the original article to see embedded media.

When they first offered the song to Payne, who was nearly 30 years old at the time, she rejected it because she thought the material was more appropriate for a teenager or a younger woman. She reluctantly recorded it for Invictus Records, a fairly new record label made by Dozier and the Hollands, and immediately became one of the singer's major hits.

"[Band of Gold] gave me confidence," Payne told Courageous Woman Magazine earlier this month. "I had been singing and traveling for eight years before 'Band of Gold,' so when it became a hit, it felt like confirmation — like God was saying 'You're on the right track.'"

The song has also been covered multiple times, including by Bonnie Tyler in 1986 and Kimberley Locke in 2007.

Payne, now 83, was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up surrounded by music, listening to jazz singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, and attended the Detroit Institute of Musical Arts. She officially started a professional music career shortly after graduating from the music conservatory, where she sang radio commercial jingles and won many local and radio talent shows. In 1963, she moved to New York City and released her debut album, After the Lights Go Down Low and Much More!!!. Throughout the 1960s, she mostly released jazz records, appeared in Broadway shows and made occasional appearances on late-night talk shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Carlson and The Merv Griffin Show.

When "Band of Gold" was released in February 1970, it became an instant success, and the album of the same name also did very well. Many other songs she released with Invictus Records did well, including "Deeper and Deeper," "You Brought Me Joy" and "Bring the Boys Home," a protest song against the Vietnam War, which also hit the Billboard Hot 100. In 1973, she left Invictus and recorded albums for ABC/Dunhill and Capitol Records, but never found the same commercial success. Since Band of Gold, her third studio album, she has released 13 more records, with her most recent being Let There Be Love in 2021.

In 2021, Payne released a memoir also titled Band of Gold, which was co-written with Mark Bego and detailed her journey from a young singer to a pop star in the 1970s. These days, she has been focusing on live performances, recording new music and starring as Ella Fitzgerald in the musical Ella: First Lady of Song.

"Band of Gold" and all of Payne's discography can be listened to on all streaming platforms.

Iconic 2004 Rom-Com Is Getting Rebooted—And the Internet Has So Many Thoughts

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:10pm

One of the most iconic rom-coms of the '00s is officially getting a reboot at Netflix.

13 Going on 30 has been given the green light by the streaming giant, replacing JenniferGarner and Matt Ruffalo with two new leads—Emily Bader and LoganLerman.

While millennial hearts are either bursting with joy or frustration at the news, depending on your personal opinions surrounding reboots, the promising news is that Garner will be attached to the project as an executive producer.

While their roles have been kept under wraps, as have the plot details, Bader, known for Netflix hit rom-com People We Meet on Vacation, will likely take on Garner's Jenna Rink, while Lerman, from Percy Jackson and Oh, Hi!, will star as the best-friend-turned-romantic-love-interest.

It also reunites Bader with the director of People We Meet on Vacation, Brett Haley, which is promising as the duo created magic together as the film topped the Global Top 10 Movies for four weeks, per Deadline.

Fans Have a Lot of Thoughts About Netflix's 13 Going on 30 Reboot

Of course, the internet had plenty of thoughts about the news, namely, that a reboot of a film that's become a cultural touchstone is not needed.

"WE DONT NEED A REBOOT," one scream wrote of the announcement coming more than 20 years after the original debuted.

Another took issue with Netflix's tagline, stating, "thirty, flirty, and rebooted… we really can’t let classics rest huh."

Thirty, flirty, and thriving... Emily Bader and Logan Lerman will star in 13 GOING ON 30, a new reboot of the 2004 classic.

"This is such a classic.. I hope this isn’t f---ed up," another chimed in, with others noting, "As much as I love this casting why do we need a reboot for everything" and "Unnecessary The original film is still ROM COM gem."

While it's yet to be determined if a reboot could ever capture the magic created by Garner, many felt hopeful about her involvement in preserving the quality.

"Thirty, flirty, and thriving… again let’s see if this reboot lives up to the magic of 13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner behind it," one mused.

Related: 29 Years Ago Today, a Movie Flop Became One of the Greatest TV Shows of All Time

"This could be amazing or... risky. But with Brett Haley directing? Fingers crossed it captures that feel-good energy," another weighed in.

The solid casting also had many feeling hopeful, with one stating, "Logan Lerman and Emily Bader? That’s a top-tier casting choice! And Jennifer Garner executive producing makes it even better. Can’t wait!"

Director Brett Haley's Promise to Longtime Fans

13 Going on 30 has remained a rom-com classic for many reasons, including its clever premise, lovable performances, timeless romance and pure 2000s charm, keeping audiences smiling even 20 years later. It touches on relatable themes of growing up and self-discovery, while offering unforgettable moments like the Thriller dance and nostalgic fashion.

Understandably, longtime fans are protective of the film's reputation, which Haley seemingly is well aware of, considering his statement to Deadline: “13 Going on 30 is one of those rare, perfect films. Funny, emotional, deeply human, with unforgettable performances from Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer. I’m a longtime fan, so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility.”

Here's hoping he lives up to his promises, or he'll have to answer to millennials everywhere.

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:09pm

Kevin DiCicco, the creator of Air Bud and real life owner of Buddy, has died at the age of 63.

DiCicco's death comes weeks after he was hospitalized in San Diego.

Kevin DiCicco Cause of Death

Earlier this month, DiCicco was rushed to the hospital in San Diego as he battled severe pneumonia, TMZ reported.

The writer told the outlet that he had been fighting the disease for two weeks.

"He tells us the pneumonia is bad and he's currently being treated with an arsenal of antibiotics," the outlet reported at the time.

While it's unclear whether pneumonia was DiCicco's official cause of death, his brother told TMZ that the late creator "passed away Saturday after spending some time in hospice."

‘It’ Fans Get a Hopeful Update About ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Season 2

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:08pm

There is no doubt that It: Welcome to Derry was a huge success, and yet, HBO continues to remain silent about its renewal. While HBO may not want to share much just yet, executive producers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti are not shy about giving the update we’ve all been waiting for.

On top of that, fans of the original Stephen King work will want to pay attention. The TV series is set to develop other parts of the novel, which previous adaptations haven’t tended to focus on too much, and it’s about time!

‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Season 2 Is Going To Happen

During an interview with Collider, the Muschietti siblings confirmed that It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 is in the works. Again, this is despite HBO confirming anything just yet. The siblings did not mince their words, and even shared why the network hasn’t made an announcement yet.

Barbara Muschietti confirmed that the second season is “going to be official,” so it does sound like not all the Is have been dotted or the Ts have been crossed. Everyone is working toward the second season, but that there is one stumbling block to get over: they need the material to be real.

Andy went on to explain that the announcements happen when the networks are ready to “declare their confidence” in a project, but he knows that It: Welcome to Derry is good. He did also confirm that the full green light hasn’t happened yet, but there is a lot of confidence in the future of the show.

Interludes of ‘It’ Included During Season 2

For fans of It by King, one of the disappointing elements of adaptations is the lack of time to delve into some of the interludes. We all know that Pennywise has a 27-year cycle. He has been to Derry multiple times, and there have been atrocities each time he’s arrived. However, the TV shows and movies have mostly kept the focus on the main story.

It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 promises to offer something unique, by delving into the interludes. The seasons will work back in time, so we’ll pick up with the interlude in 1935, which was when the Bradley Gang was massacred. It allows the team to continue working with the source material, while keeping the story focused on Pennywise. After all, he is the ultimate villain.

Of course, HBO still needs to make an official confirmation, but the signs are good that a second season is coming.

Quote of the Day: Stevie Nicks on Believing in Your Own Magic

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 2:05pm

When you witness 77-year-old Stevie Nicks cast her spell on a sold-out arena, it's wild to think about the fact that the "Landslide" singer was dropped from her very first record label.

Back in 1973, Nicks and her then-boyfriend—Lindsey Buckingham—were signed as a duo. But when their debut album failed to sell, the label dropped them and they were forced to start over. Nicks may have been heartbroken and barely able to afford groceries, but she refused to let anyone else's opinion define her worth or deter her dreams. Instead, the Arizona native waited tables and cleaned houses to get by. And most importantly, she channeled the magic she felt inside of her to continue crafting songs and writing lyrics that would eventually reach millions.

In a twist of fate, Mick Fleetwood heard the couple's failed album and asked Buckingham to join his band. Buckingham insisted they were a package deal, so on New Year's Eve 1974, Fleetwood Mac welcomed two new members. Shortly after, the band entered the studio to record Rumours. Despite the agonizingly public implosion of Nicks and Buckingham's relationship during the process, the former waitress powered through to record vocals on an album that sold over 40 million records and became one of the best-selling of all time. Now that's magical.

But Nicks didn't just experience success with Fleetwood Mac. In 1981, she released her debut solo album Bella Donna. Since then, her solo projects have garnered eight Grammy nominations and sold millions of records. In fact, Nicks was the first woman to be inducted two times into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame—first with Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and then as a solo artist in 2019.

Of course, her 50+ year journey in music wasn't without profound hardship—including the fractured relationship with Buckingham and the tragic loss of her best friend, Robin, to cancer. Yet through every crushing low, she refused to let anyone else steal the magic that has inspired millions. Her unwavering conviction is exactly why Stevie Nicks is today's quote of the day.

Quote of the Day by Stevie Nicks

"I believed it. I painted the picture. And guess what? Here I stand 43 years later singing a song that I never thought would ever be performed… So I just want you to hold on to your dreams… Don't let anybody ever tell you that you're not pretty enough or smart enough or talented enough or educated enough… because you are. You have it right in your hands."

Stevie Nicks shared these beautiful words onstage during her 24 Karat Gold Tour. When she said 43 years later, she was referencing the year 1973—the exact year the Buckingham Nicks album was released and subsequently failed. She would tell these stories to encourage the audience and inspire them to never give up.

Deeper Meaning of Stevie Nicks' Quote: Unwavering Conviction

It's easy to forget that Nicks—one of the most iconic musical artists of all time who regularly sells out arenas—is a real person who's overcome so much adversity to get to where she is. Her command to never let anyone tell you that you aren't talented enough comes from a woman who had to fight relentlessly for her art and for her voice to be heard.

Whether it was getting dropped from her record label, navigating her personal and professional relationship with Buckingham, or just simply being a woman in the music industry, Nicks never let anyone dim her light. She channeled her hurt and heartbreak directly into her music, proving her resilience in real time.

No matter what your dreams are, she's imploring you to hold onto them and never let go. Whether someone tells you you're not good enough, or not smart enough, or not pretty enough, never let another person's words diminish your dreams. Because at the end of the day, your life is a blank canvas and you are the only person holding the paint brush. Or in Stevie's case, the pen and microphone!

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 1:49pm

Grief is a wild thing to experience. Whether you've lost a parent, a partner, or even a beloved pet, it profoundly changes you. If there’s one universal truth, it’s that grief emphasizes making the most of the time we have. Sadly, many people learn that lesson through untimely, unimaginable loss.

Leslie Harter-Berg knows this all too well. She lost her husband, Ryan, unexpectedly to an aneurysm and stroke while on vacation with their two young sons. In the years since, her life has been turned upside down—and, in some ways, right side up. She eventually found love again and has worked to navigate grief while continuing to move forward.

But because grief isn’t linear, it finds its way into everyday life in unexpected ways. Leslie has made it a priority to preserve her late husband’s memory for their sons, Whit and Rory, who were just 1 and 3 when they lost him. One tradition she started was spending Ryan’s birthday doing the “man-child” things he loved—playing with Legos, rock climbing, and skateboarding. But after discovering a teenage bucket list among his belongings, she found an even more meaningful way to honor him.

View this post on Instagram

Each year on his birthday, Leslie and the boys check an item off Ryan’s list.

“It’s the sweetest, quirkiest list that is so Ryan,” Leslie told TODAY.com. “The day is really all about getting them to get to know their dad. And this list just shows who he was so much.”

Honoring Ryan’s Birthday Through Experiences

The list itself is filled with playful, heartfelt entries. In a video she shared on TikTok, it shows her boys dressing like pirates in public, playing chess in the park, building a three-foot card tower, visiting an art museum, and even taking piano lessons. While there are some experiences she won’t be tackling—like bungee jumping—there are still countless meaningful adventures ahead for their blended family.

What stands out most to me are the items that encourage getting out into the world. Ryan included several experiences centered around travel and exploration: going on a road trip, surfing, jet-skiing, and snowmobiling. Each one reflects a deeper message about truly experiencing life.

It’s a reminder many of us need: stop waiting. Book the trip. See how the world lives. Feel it for yourself.

“I’m really glad that we have this moment in the calendar that we always know we’re not going to work, we’re not going to go to school—we’re going to pause and feel what we feel,” she told the outlet.

And in doing so, they’re creating new memories in his honor—experiencing the world in a way that feels exactly like something Ryan would have wanted.

‘80s Glam Metal Icon Gets Sentimental in Birthday Post

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 1:46pm

As lead singer of the ‘80s glam metal band Poison, Bret Michaels had a chart-topping hit with “Talk Dirty to Me.” But now the performer has nothing but sweet things to say—or should we say nothin’ (that is, as in “Nothin’ but a Good Time”).

Michaels recently took to Instagram to post an absolutely adorable birthday wish for mom, Marjorie Sychak. Along with a mother-son snapshot of the pair, the doting son wrote a cute caption, expressing his love and gratitude towards Sychak.

The Poison frontman gushed, “Mom, wishing you the most incredible Happy Birthday. Thanks for all you’ve done for me. And for being there when I turned diabetic, and helping to form a diabetic camp that inspired me, and so many other kids like me, and gave us hope.” Michaels went on to add, “On behalf of the family and I - love you, Mom! Happy Birthday!”

Multi-platinum musician and all-around star Brett Michaels is known for many things. And one of them is his journey with diabetes. Diagnosed with Type 1 at age six, the rocker has helped to raise more than just awareness of the disease. As a diabetic in a position of influence, Michaels has used the spotlight to help raise millions of dollars for research through his Life Rocks Foundation with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Of course, Michaels isn’t the only one in the family dedicated to helping people with type 1 diabetes. In his Instagram post, the musician mentions the diabetes camp his mother helped found. And yes, Sychak was involved in the creation of a camp in Pennsylvania for children with T1D.

In 2025, Bret kicked off Diabetes Awareness Month with an Instagram throwback to his days at this program, writing, “I thought you may enjoy this photo from my very first dianetic camp. It was life-changing…It helped me to understand and to manage my diabetes, how to be a warrior, not a victim.”

Thanks to Michaels and his mom, many other children will get the same chance he did. In a 2025 Giving Tuesday Instagram post, the celeb T1D activist shared a precious pic of himself with a young fan. The little girl is seen holding a sign that reads, “Thanks Bret! Because of you I’m going to diabetes camp Sunday.”

Gwen Stefani's Ageless Appearance in Fishnets and Orange Tracksuit Turns Heads

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 1:38pm

No Doubt just did a photo shoot to promote their upcoming 18-show residency at The Sphere, and Gwen Stefani can't stop sharing behind-the-scenes sneak peeks.

It started a few days ago when Stefani dropped a handful of photos from the shoot where she was decked out in an orange cropped Adidas tracksuit and fishnets, declaring that she's "feelin hella good."

Now, she's done it again, this time sharing a video from the same shoot, calling it a "from our sphere first look reveal." Technically, it would be the second or even the third look at Stefani's sexy tracksuit outfit that has fans going gaga. After all, the official No Doubt Instagram page also shared a photo from the shoot, but theirs showed all the band members in matching tracksuits with hers just a bit more revealing than the guys' outfits.

View this post on Instagram

In the latest video, shared on Tuesday, Mar. 24, Stefani is all smiles as she lifts one fishnetted leg until her patent leather pump is flat against the wall behind her. Her bleached blonde hair is pulled up tight into a vertical space bun.

Her makeup is perfectly set with shimmery glam eyeshadow and long black lashes, soft rosy cheeks, and a neutral pink pout that gives the pop-ska singer a youthful, ageless glow.

The comments section exploded as Stefani's fans exclaimed how "obsessed" they are, with one calling her the "queen of cool."

Based on all the fire and heart emojis, it's safe to say Stefani's look is a big hit. Others talked about the song she used for the video. "Stricken" is from No Doubt's independent album, The Beacon Street Collection, an album they released just seven months before Tragic Kingdom put the band on the map.

This 'Delicious' Costco Bakery Item Is Finally Back and Shoppers Say It's a Must-Try

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 1:34pm

Costco shoppers know that if they spot something in the bakery section that looks promising and appetizing, it’s best to grab it before it disappears.

And the latest find, a returning favorite, has been generating plenty of buzz, with many shoppers calling it a must-buy and a must-try.

The warehouse retail giant, known for an incredible rotating bakery lineup, has officially brought back Kirkland's Blueberry Carmelized Cheesecake Croissant.

Honestly, I’m convinced to buy it simply because of the name.

Nothing says summer quite like blueberry and cheesecake. And wrapped up in a croissant, and then caramelized? You simply can’t go wrong.

And there’s a reason that the returning baked good has gone viral, popping up all over shoppers’ social media timelines.

It sounds like something you’d immediately grab if spotted at the farmer’s market, but in this case, since it’s available at Costco, there’s more than just one, so you can indulge on more than one occasion—or share with loved ones, if you’re feeling generous.

The Instagram account Costco New Deals put the baked good return on our radar, writing, “Blueberry caramelized cheesecake croissants are back."

While they’re surely enjoyable all on their own, the account gave a tip that might make the experience even better, writing, “Air fry them for a few minutes 10/10 or add them to a waffle maker.”

Just the versatility alone is enough to convince us to grab a pack.

But then there’s the price—$12.99 for six generously sized croissants. Depending on your location, prices may vary, but still, it’s roughly about $2 per croissant.

And they’re packed with flavor. There’s obviously the blueberries and cheesecake filling, but they also boast a butter streusel, butter croissant dough and a caramelized bottom for a melt-in-your mouth exprience.

The account e40 threw them in the air fryer with some Kerrygold butter, noting that the caramelized bottom looked like a glazed donut. And his verdict? Just as expected, he noted it’s “hella good.”

“You know it’s 🔥 when you can barley get the words out lol😂” one commented on his reaction, as another chimed in, “These were amazing! !!

View this post on Instagram

After seeing the croissants go viral, many put them to the test, and not a single person was disappointed, with the only complaint being that they may be a tad too sweet for some.

Without heating it up, it was “pretty good,” but Chow Down Detroit was in heaven once he took a bite of it warmed up, stopping to savor the taste for a minute before adding, “That’s amazing.”

He noted that warmd up you get a “nice flaky crust,” while inside it remains “creamy without being too sweet.”

The Kirkland goodie passed the taste-test in nearly every video, as content creators channeled their inner DWTS judges and assigned all 9s and 10s.

Reddit even weighed in on the “so good” new dessert item, with one writing, These things are stupidly delicious and I have to walk past them in a rush so they don’t hop into my cart.”

“They're so good that I vowed to never buy another pack again because I don't trust myself not to gain 100 lbs if I keep them in the house,” someone else wrote, with a third complimenting, “These are the best bakery item made from a store that I have ever had.”

While many pointed out that these were sold out whenever they stepped foot in a Costco, so truly, if you see them available, act fast.

1976 Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 49 Years Ago Today

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 1:31pm

Rocky, the ultimate underdog tale, was still punching on this day in 1977.

Directed by The Karate Kid’s John G. Avildse, the film was released on Dec. 3, 1976, and endured at movie theaters for multiple months. Beyond scoring highest-grossing film for the year it was released, the boxing classic starring its writer, Sylvester Stallone, spent eight weeks either at or near the top of the box office, breaking records and earning more than $117 million in North America alone.

View this post on Instagram

March 24 begins the film’s last week at the top, before being booted by Airport ’77, a disaster flick starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Grant. Four days later, however, the film was back on top.

From Oscar Glory to Pop Phenomenon

On March 28, 1977, the Italian Stallion’s instant classic went on to dominate the 49th Academy Awards, winning three Oscars out of 10 nominations. Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Film Editing all went to the knockout film. However, Stallone, who was in the running for Best Actor, lost to Peter Finch, who won posthumously for his role as Howard Beale in the stunner Network.

About a small-time Philly boxer who goes round for round with the world heavyweight champion, Rocky is more than just a sports film. It’s a testament to grit, determination, and chasing the impossible dream. Having given the world iconic lines like “Yo, Adrian! I did it!” and one of cinema’s most legendary runs up the set of stone steps leading to the Philadelphia Museum of Art — which are now named the Rocky Steps, by the way — the film lives on in pop culture. Not to mention, it’s also spawned one of the most enduring film franchises that has ballooned to include the Apollo Creed universe.

From Rocky to Rambo and Beyond

The film marked Stallone’s debut as a feature screenwriter. Beyond Rocky and its sequels, he’s brought plenty of action to screens big and small, writing for Rambo, The Expendables, and Paramount’s Tulsa King.

Rocky is available to rent or buy on Prime Video.

‘I’m a Neurologist—This Is the One Habit I Always Avoid for Brain Longevity’

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 1:25pm

Daily exercise and healthy living are prioritized now more than ever before—and for good reason.

After all, keeping your body strong and healthy is essential in order to stay active, independent and live life to its fullest for hopefully many years to come. There is much research-backed information available about strength training and the importance of rebuilding muscle, since you naturally lose it with age. But while so many individuals plan their workouts with precision, get in daily steps to maintain a cardio routine and focus intently on diet and nutrition, far fewer people dedicate the same thought and care to keeping their brain healthy.

Your brain is really the “control central” for your entire body. It influences your movements, decisions, memory and cognitive function. It deserves extra tender loving care, don’t you agree? Your brain can benefit greatly from additional healthy habits—simple tweaks that wouldn’t even call for drastic lifestyle changes. There are small intentional things you can do each day to boost your mental well-being. Experts recommend simple things that may surprise you—like staying social, getting sufficient sleep and lowering stress. These are all productive ways to support brain longevity.

For a better understanding of the things that “mindfully matter,” so to speak, we chatted with Dr. Rab Nawaz Khan, MD, a board-certified neurologist with over 10 years of clinical experience, who practices as a Consultant Neurologist at MyMSTeam. He shares one habit he personally avoids to keep his brain in top shape and foster long-term cognitive wellness.

The One Habit a Neurologist Avoids To Promote Brain Longevity

Constantinis/Getty Images

According to Dr. Khan, sleep is essential and should be prioritized accordingly. That said, so many of us are guilty of one common habit—and it’s something Dr. Khan avoids at all costs.

“The one habit I avoid is stealing sleep by staying up late on my phone or laptop, especially in bed,” Dr. Khan explains. “People think of it as harmless downtime, but it is often the start of chronic sleep debt. Sleep is when the brain stabilizes memories, resets stress circuits and runs its overnight cleanup systems. When you cut sleep, you may still function, but the cost accumulates quietly over years.”

Related: Longevity Experts Say This Daily Habit Matters Much More Than Supplements

Here’s What Happens When You Regularly Engage in This Habit

Not getting enough sleep—or experiencing interrupted sleep—keeps your brain in high alert mode, fragmenting essential deep and REM sleep. According to Dr. Khan, deep sleep is majorly linked to immune balance, learning and clearing brain tissue of metabolic waste products.

“Over time, chronic sleep loss is associated with worse attention, slower processing, lower mood stability and higher vascular risk, all of which can push cognitive aging in the wrong direction,” Dr. Khan adds. “It does not mean one late night causes dementia, but a long pattern of poor sleep is a real risk multiplier, especially when paired with high blood pressure, diabetes or untreated sleep apnea.”

Related: The One Thing That's More Important for Longevity Than Your Genes

Sleep Hygiene Habits a Neurologist Swears By

It’s important to optimize your nighttime routine to promote restful, uninterrupted Z’s. What works for one person may not work for another. For instance, some may find white or green noise soothing, while others enjoy taking a warm bubble bath before slipping into bed. Some individuals favor a firm pillow, while others like theirs soft.

That said, Dr. Khan’s pro tips are absolutely worth trying out. “I prioritize a consistent wake time, because it anchors the body clock more reliably than a perfect bedtime. I aim for a wind-down routine that is boring on purpose: dim light, minimal screens and a predictable transition into sleep,” Dr. Khan tells us. “I also treat movement as nonnegotiable most days, since aerobic fitness supports brain blood flow and sleep quality. Finally, I take snoring and daytime sleepiness seriously, because untreated sleep apnea is one of the most fixable threats to brain health.”

If you were to make only one change, Dr. Khan stresses the importance of keeping your phone outside the bedroom altogether. If you need it in your bedroom, charge it across the room.

“Set a hard screen cutoff 45 to 60 minutes before bed and replace it with one calming cue, like a warm shower, light stretching or a few pages of a book,” Dr. Khan says. “If racing thoughts drive the scrolling, do a two-minute brain dump on paper, then close the notebook. Most people do not need more willpower; they need fewer triggers within arm’s reach.”

Remember that sleep is not a luxury—it’s essential to your overall well-being and brain longevity. If you optimize your sleep habits, you can increase your chances of leading a very long, healthy existence.

For a minute, when S.W.A.T. was canceled by CBS, it looked as if there was hope of a return by Moore to reprise his role as FBI profiler Derek Morgan, but then came the news that Sony had greenlit a 10-episode sequel, S.W.A.T. Exiles, so Moore is back to playing Sgt. Hondo Harrelson, rather than returning to CME.

Who are the guest stars for Season 19 of Criminal Minds: Evolution?

The official announcement of guest stars is long, but doesn't include Matthew Grey Gubler or Shemar Moore. It does include: Connor Storrie (Heated Rivalry), Justin Kirk (Angels in America), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), Clark Gregg (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Paul F. What happened in Criminal MindsEvolution Season 18 finale?

In the penultimate episode of Criminal Minds: Evolution, the Disciple (Jordana Spiro) kidnapped Dr. Ochoa (Aimee Garcia) and Voit after killing the staff at the hospital. Her plan is force Voit into killing someone in hopes that that will trigger him into becoming Sicarius once again.

We initially see how Cyrus (Silas Weir Mitchell) kidnapped Tessa (Spiro) and kept her prisoner which eventually led to her becoming the Disciple. Tessa feels that she and Voit are family since they both suffered abuse by Cyrus and since Voit set her free, she feels bonded to him.

In order to get him to kill someone, she uses Dr. Ochoa as bait. One of her minions is about to put lethal spiders down Dr. Ochoa’s mouth, so Voit kills him.

Then Voit pretends to side with the Disciple, but takes her to task for making his serial killer network public. He comes up with a plan for them to escape, using Dr. Ochoa as the fall guy, but to do so, they need to reach out to the rest of the network. He pretends to kill Dr. Ochoa, and the messages sent to the network reveal their whereabouts to Garcia.

The BAU figures out where the Disciple is holding Voit and they prepare to make entry, but all the entrances are set with IEDs. Garcia is able to block the signal, and the BAU enters.

Voit has a gun and he points it at JJ pretending he is going to shoot her, but she knows better and won’t kill him. They arrest Voit and the Disciple.

Back at the BAU, Voit doesn’t trust himself, so he confesses to all of Sicarius’ crimes. He is sent to a supermax prison and when he is on the bus with the other prisoners he has what is either a hallucination or a fantasy about killing one of the men. Is Sicarius back?

Are there any spoilers for the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19?

Parade spoke to showrunner Erica Messer about what that final scene in the finale means. Is Sicarius back?

"It’s meant to make us wonder if Sicarius is back," she told us. "I think one of the things that really excited us about exploring this side for Voit was to give Zach that challenge of taking a character who was pretty much irredeemable and making us actually feel for him. And doing that through Aimee Garcia’s character, and Garcia doing aromatherapy with him in this season. He feels like a different person, but he has this crazy set of skills, which could kill somebody. Any way you could imagine he can do it.

"The fact that he’s imagining a scenario in which he would have to kill, because he’s basically going to get attacked on a prison bus, it’s almost like he’s justifying how to use that skill set. Or how to scratch the itch of being a killer.

"Then when we get into Season 19, you’ll get to see that challenge is still there of how do I quiet this beast that’s in here. Because I now have a conscience and it’s wrong to do that."

Also, Season 19 will have a new chapter ahead for JJ, according to Messer. "She’s preparing for Henry to go away to college, and that’ll be a new journey for her. Garcia is having some fun in the dating world, let’s leave it at that. Alvez has a lot going on this year. I feel like as far as emotional journeys if last season was like JJ and Tara, this year it’s Alvez. He has a lot going on that we’ll allude to in the first episode, but it really comes into light episode two and onward."
