‘Sister Wives’ Star Wows Fans With Hidden Talent on Instagram

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:39am

A star of TLC's Sister Wives has Instagram buzzing over her hidden talent.

Christine Brown Woolley showed off her latest creation, an adorable ladybug birthday cake, on her social media feed. The reality television star delighted fans with her baking skills, sharing a peek behind the scenes of her colorful and whimsical design.

Woolley was photographed showing off the delightful dessert. Her creativity shone through in her design and use of fresh fruit to create the colorful bug-inspired details, making the cake as charming as it was delicious.

She utilized strawberries to make the ladybug's bodies, and blueberries for their heads. Green icing resembled grass and bright sunflower additions gave the cake a lighthearted touch.

In the caption, she wrote that even though the cake wasn't perfect, it was made with "love."

"I make cakes with love. That’s my main ingredient. They actually taste really good. They just don’t quite present like the picture. Think 'inspired by' instead of 'identical.'"

Woolley continued, "I watch those cake decorating videos like, 'oh that looks easy, and then somehow mine has… personality. A little uneven, a little extra frosting here and there… but honestly? Still proud of her. You can judge my cake all you want… just don’t judge my heart."

Woolley's fans were delighted by her creative and spring-inspired birthday cake. They shared their remarks in the post's comments section.

One Instagram user penned, "I love the perfectly imperfect best!" A second noted, "It’s made with love, that’s all that matters."

A third fan wrote, "What a cute idea to turn strawberries into lady bugs! LOVE IT!" "So cute," exclaimed a fourth social media follower.

Love Goodreads Challenges? 12 New Spring Challenges Have Been Released

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:28am

There’s a lot of love that comes with reading, and one of those is winning challenges. Goodreads allows us to set our own reading challenge, with a number of books we aim to read in a year. While that’s great, it can leave us a little limited, as we all tend to stick to the genres that we love the most.

That’s why Goodreads started offering other types of challenges. The 2026 Spring Challenges are now live, with 12 offers for readers. Only a handful of those challenges are open now, with the others being opened later in the season or as you claim the first ones.

7 Goodreads Reading Challenges to Get Started With

There are currently seven out of the 12 challenges available, with one of them being “Editors’ Picks.” You can also opt for “Page-Turner,” “Speed Reader,” “Book Boss,” ‘Community Picks,” “Trending Books,” and “Marathon Reader.”

This is where it becomes a little more limited, as you need to ready one of those within the 90 days of spring set — and there are 89 days left at the time of writing this — for the read to count. Even if you’ve read one of the books in the past, you’ll need to read it again for it to count.

The other five challenges are mysteries right now. They’ll open up soon!

Which Books Can You Read This Spring?

With the “Page Turner” challenge, you need to read two books within the period of April 1 and July 1, 2026. These can be any books you want. The “Speed Reader” challenge is another one where you need to read a certain number of books rather than specific options. You’ll need to get through three books during spring.

Likewise, “Book Boss” is another quantity challenge. In this one, it’s getting through five books within the three-month period.

The “Trending Books” category changes with each challenge, and they are newer books with early buzz. Goodreads goes through all the early reviews to see what people think are the best, breaking it into different genres. Some of the top picks this season are Good People by Patmeena Sabit, Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser, The Astral Librady by Kate Quinn, and Mate by Ali Hazelwood.

“Community Picks” covers mystery and thrillers in spring 2026. The list includes novels released across the years, with Dead Debbie by Freida McFadden and My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney on the list.

“Marathon Reader” is aimed at those who want to read longer books. They are at least 500 pages in length, promoting devotion. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy and Les Miserables by Victor Hugo are among the list.

Finally, it’s “Editor’s Picks,” which is a little more self-explanatory compared to other challenges. These are the ones that Goodread picks, with a selection from different genres. For this spring, you can choose from the likes of Marog’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe, Kin by Tayari Jones, The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf, and The Shots You Take by Rachel Reid.

Now you just need to find the time to get through all the challenges. Are you up for it?

Grammy-Winning Band’s Founding Guitarist Arrested on Second-Degree Murder Charges: Report

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:24am

Brady Ebert, a founding member of the Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile, has reportedly been arrested on second-degree murder charges.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Ebert, 33, was taken into custody on Tuesday, March 31, in Montgomery County, Maryland. The publication also noted that in addition to the attempted murder claim, Ebert was also charged with one count of assault in relation to an incident on Sunday, March 29.

Ebert appeared in court on Wednesday, April 1, and is currently being held without bail. According to Stereogum, there are no reputable reports about Ebert's alleged target or about the incident that led to his arrest.

Ebert formed the group in 2010 with Brendan Yates, Franz Lyons, and Daniel Fang. However, he departed in 2022 under circumstances that haven't been discussed publicly. Pat McCrory and Meg Mills later joined the band.

Since leaving Turnstile, Ebert launched a new Baltimore hardcore band called the S.E.T. While they released their debut EP, Self Evident Truth, Ebert was soon kicked out of the band for trashing Turnstile on social media, Stereogum reported.

Turnstile's Success at the Grammys

Without Ebert, Turnstile found success at the Grammys, even before they won a single award. The band had the honor of being the first group to ever be nominated in the Rock, Metal, and Alternative categories in a single year. But 16 years after forming, they took home the award for Best Rock Album for their 2025 record, Never Enough.

In a unique move, the album was also accompanied by a movie, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

“Yeah, it was something I’ve always wanted to do, as far as having a full album film, but it always felt very out of reach,” Yates told Rolling Stone last December. “Obviously, it’s an insane thing to do. But when writing the songs, once you start to kind of shape songs, you start to kind of get visuals — you start to feel colors and then, it kind of goes to settings. By the time we finished the album, there was kind of an outline for how a film could bring the songs a new life that goes beyond just the songs themselves.”

The 4 Birth Months That Make Everyone Feel Welcome

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:18am

Some people have a unique ability to make you feel comfortable almost instantly. This talent isn't always obvious or flashy; it can be something as simple as the way they greet you, how they involve you in conversation, or how quickly they sense what might make you feel more at ease. It often manifests in small actions: creating space for others, asking questions, or noticing who hasn’t yet had a chance to speak. In astrology, the energy associated with someone’s birth month can influence how they interact with others and the type of environment they create. Certain birth months are often associated with social awareness and warmth, helping people feel genuinely welcomed.

Liking people and making them feel welcome aren’t always the same thing. The difference often comes down to awareness through who is paying attention, who is making space, and who is thinking about how others are experiencing the moment. While anyone can create that kind of environment, these birth months tend to do it in a way that feels natural and consistent over time. Read on to discover which four birth months tend to make everyone feel welcome.

March

People born in March often create an inviting environment that allows others to relax effortlessly. Whether you are a Pisces or an Aries, you bring passionate and direct energy to social interactions and are highly attuned to the feelings of others. This sensitivity enables you to notice subtle changes in mood or body language, allowing you to respond instinctively in ways that help ease tension. Additionally, March-born individuals tend to take the initiative by starting conversations, making introductions, or adjusting the atmosphere when it feels off. They generally feel less pressure in new situations, which leads to less second-guessing and less awkwardness about where to stand or what to say. Consequently, others feel more comfortable and at ease, even upon first arriving, because people born in March create a safe space for everyone to express themselves authentically.

RELATE?: The Most Powerful Zodiac Signs Ranked, According to Astrologers

June

Individuals born in June have a unique ability to make others feel at ease through their conversational style. Whether you are a Gemini or a Cancer, your genuine curiosity about people shines through. You ask thoughtful questions, follow up on responses, and remain engaged in discussions. This approach allows conversations to flow naturally without making anyone feel interrogated. Moreover, you are an attentive listener, which people notice immediately. You prioritize creating a comfortable, familiar atmosphere, making it easy for others to engage. Taking the time to check in with others softens the mood and prevents the tone from becoming too harsh or impersonal. In your presence, people's focus shifts less toward managing the room and more toward ensuring everyone feels included and at ease.

September

People born in September tend to make others feel welcome in subtle and thoughtful ways. They have a knack for noticing details that others might overlook, such as who feels out of place, what someone might need, and how to ensure things run more smoothly. Whether they are mindful Virgos or charming Libras, they are aware of the social dynamics at play. They care about inclusivity and whether things feel balanced, often making small adjustments to keep everyone comfortable. This manifests as someone who pays attention to the room as a whole. While they may not always point it out explicitly, their attentiveness creates an atmosphere that everyone present unconsciously feels. People leave feeling valued and considered, even if they cannot quite explain why.

December

December-borns often create a welcoming environment due to their natural openness. Whether you fall under the sign of Sagittarius or Capricorn, you have a knack for drawing people in effortlessly. You initiate conversations, introduce others, and help to make situations feel more relaxed just by being yourself. In group settings, you pay close attention to your surroundings, noticing who seems settled, who doesn’t, and how the overall atmosphere is flowing. By being aware of how things are structured and how people interact, you help prevent chaos and disconnection. As a result, people born in December often create a space that feels both lively and comfortable, where everyone knows how to engage and be part of what’s happening.

1986 Horror Novel Ranked No. 1 'Scariest Stephen King Book' by Goodreads

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:09am

Stephen King has published more than 60 novels, but Goodreads readers who voted on the site's 'Scariest Stephen King Book' list landed on one title: It, the 1986 novel about seven children stalked by a shape-shifting entity in the fictional town of Derry, Maine. The book earned a score of more than 9,000 points on the community-ranked list, edging out runner-up The Shining by nearly 700.

The novel runs to more than 1,100 pages, spans two timelines, and builds its horror on the specific fears of childhood, and the particular way adults forget them. The entity at the center of it, most often wearing the face of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, became one of the most recognizable figures in modern horror before a single frame of film was ever shot.

It has been adapted for the screen twice, most recently as a two-part film series beginning in 2017. The 2017 film grossed over $700 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing horror film of all time. It was made on a budget of just $35 million. Its $123.1 million opening weekend shattered the previous record for a horror film by more than double, and stood as the largest September debut in box office history at the time.

Related: Stephen King Found a Dead Friend's Email — and Finally Finished Their Unfinished Story

It ranks atop a top 20 filled with monsters, spirits, psychological horror, and, frankly, insight into a lot of our own fears. The Shining (1977) holds the No. 2 spot; Stanley Kubrick's 1980 adaptation, starring Jack Nicholson, grossed $47 million and has endured as one of the titles most consistently cited as among the scariest films ever made. Pet Sematary (1983) sits at No. 3, Salem's Lot at No. 4, and Misery(1987) at No. 5. The 1990 film version of Misery grossed $61.3 million worldwide, and Kathy Bates's Academy Award for Best Actress made it the only film based on a King novel to win an Oscar, as well as sending ankle-based shivers down the spines of everyone who saw it.

Of the 20 books on the list, 18 have been adapted for either film or television. The two exceptions are Revival(2014), King's unsettling riff on Frankensteinand Lovecraftian horror, which came close to a film adaptation when Mike Flanaganwrote a screenplay and received King's own approval, but Warner Bros. ultimately considered it unfilmable within the approved budget, and Duma Key (2008), which has had multiple adaptation rumors circulate without any reputable or recent project materializing.

The rest of the top 20 spans four decades of King's output and covers nearly every variety of horror he has worked in: supernatural possession (Christine, No. 9), psychological confinement (Gerald's Game, No. 10), small-town corruption (Needful Things, No. 11), creature horror (The Mist, No. 12), and alien invasion (Dreamcatcher, No. 19). Apt Pupil, the 1982 novella about a teenager who befriends a former Nazi war criminal, rounds out the list at No. 20, a reminder that King's most disturbing material doesn't always require a supernatural element.

The Stand (1978), King's post-apocalyptic epic and one of his most celebrated books, appears at No. 6 despite being a novel that many readers consider more science fiction than horror. That reflects something about how Goodreads readers evaluate fear. Specifically, it's not always the monster that makes something scary.

5 Small Town 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives' Spots That Are Worth the Road Trip

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:06am

There’s a moment on every road trip when hunger stops being casual and starts feeling urgent. It hits somewhere between exits, when your tank is fine but your patience isn’t, and suddenly a handwritten sign or gravel parking lot feels more promising than any five-star reservation.

That’s the space "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" has lived in for years. Not polished or precious, just places rooted in something real, where the menu tells a story before the server even reaches the table.

I know that pull well. My dad is a longtime fan, and on a trip to Boulder, Colorado, he made it a mission to eat at Triple D spots. At one stop, he even snapped a photo with the owners, as if they were true celebrities.

Be the first to know about new travel trends, tips, and tales—subscribe now.

Small Town Diners Worth the Detour (Real Spots, Real Flavor)The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint — Ocean Springs, Mississippi

The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint is less of a restaurant and more of a living, breathing roadside experience. Built from salvaged materials and covered in what can only be described as organized chaos, it’s known for slow-smoked ribs and a fiercely loyal local following. Guy called the ribs “as tender as you can get.”

After you eat, the town invites you to linger. Walk through the live oaks downtown or head toward the Gulf Islands National Seashore. It’s the kind of place where one meal quietly turns into a full afternoon.

Related: 12 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' Spots That Have Closed Forever (and Why)

Vincentown Diner — Vincentown, New Jersey

Vincentown Diner is exactly that kind of place. Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, it built its reputation on unapologetically large comfort food, from stacked meatloaf to its now-famous apple pieFrench toast. The diner leans into local ingredients and a farm-to-table approach, which gives even its heaviest meals a sense of intention. When Guy Fierivisited, he summed it up mid-bite, calling it “tender” and “juicy,” before admitting, “I can’t stop eating it.”

I’ve always thought diners like this double as town squares. Sit long enough and you start to understand the place through its regulars. If you have time, nearby trails and farmland offer a quiet counterbalance to the meal.

Junkyard Extreme Burgers and Brats — Lancaster, Wyoming

This unincorporated farming community is about as small as it gets. Roughly 30 people call it home, according to owner Craig, and the town itself is tied together by family. That restaurant is Junkyard Extreme Burgers and Brats, and it is exactly what it sounds like. Built from a race trailer with a shed attached, it doesn’t try to be anything other than what it is.

The burgers here are not subtle. One customer laughs that the signature burger is “bigger than her head,” while another calls it “an explosion of taste.” It’s messy, oversized, and completely unapologetic.

The drive-thru is less of a lane and more of a moment. Customers pull up in pickup trucks, sure, but also on horses, in tractors, and even in combines during harvest season.

Guy Fieri, who has seen just about everything on the road, summed it up best:
“We’ve seen some crazy stuff on Triple D, but this is up there.”

Duluth Grill — Duluth, Minnesota

Duluth Grill has been spotlighted for its commitment to scratch cooking and locally sourced ingredients, including produce grown in its own on-site garden. When Guy Fieri stopped in, he kept it simple, calling the pie “pretty dynamite,” a reaction that feels right for a place that quietly exceeds expectations.

Overlooking Lake Superior, Duluth carries a kind of rugged calm, and the food reflects that. Think grass-fed meatloaf, house-made pies, and dishes that feel thoughtful without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place where breakfast turns into a slow morning, and a slow morning turns into a day you didn’t plan but are glad you had.

Lotus Cafe — Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jackson Hole has a way of feeling both rugged and refined at the same time. It’s a place where mornings start with mountain air and end with something unexpectedly thoughtful on your plate. At Lotus Cafe, Chef Amy Young leans fully into that balance. The menu is built around organic ingredients, from responsibly sourced meats to fresh vegetables, creating dishes that feel clean without sacrificing flavor.

One customer in the episode puts it simply when she said, “I think Amy has done a really unique thing here.”

Another diner describes it as “part of the Jackson Hole experience,” which feels accurate in a place where wellness and wilderness coexist.

Even Guy Fieri summed it up in his own way by saying, “Next time you’re in Jackson Hole, make sure you come to Lotus Cafe. This girl is off the hook.”

Beyond the meal, Jackson Hole gives you plenty of reasons to stay. You can explore Grand Teton National Park, take in sweeping mountain views, or simply walk through town and feel that blend of old Western roots and modern energy.

How to Build Your Own Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Style Road Trip

Start with one place that catches your attention, perhaps somewhere you have read about or heard recommended, and then leave plenty of room in your plans for discovery. Often, the most memorable meals happen in the unplanned stops, in the gaps between destinations, rather than at the locations you expected.

Pay attention to small signs that a restaurant is worth visiting. Give yourself permission to linger longer than you initially intended. Some restaurants are not meant to be rushed through, and they are meant to be experienced slowly, one bite at a time, allowing both the food and the atmosphere to leave a lasting impression.

Award-Winning Author Reveals Intriguing and Immersive New Novel Is Not an April Fools Prank — And It’s Available for Preorder!

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:04am

April 1 is the day for pranks, and many authors, publications, businesses, and individuals love to get involved. So, when Freida McFadden shared that she was releasing a new thriller that sounded completely different from the style she is used to writing, many fans erred on the side of caution.

Was this some sort of prank? If they pre-ordered the new novel, The Dinner Party, and it turned out to be a prank, would they get their money back? Some decided to take a leap, but others reached out to the award-winning author to find out the truth, and she graciously responded.

‘The Dinner Party’ Is a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Book

McFadden released the news that she had a new novel coming out. While that wouldn’t usually be a cause for concern, The Dinner Party is different. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure book (or “pick your poison” as it’s also been referred to), allowing readers to pick the path that they would prefer to take. The best thing about these books is that you can read them multiple times and end up with a different plot and ending.

Considering The Housemaid author usually writes traditional psychological thrillers with wild twists, it was only natural that fans didn’t quite jump into pre-order. After all, this was announced on April 1, 2026, and it just seems too wild to be true.

Freida McFadden Settled Her Fans Minds

One of the great things about McFadden is that she is responsive and active on social media. Not only does she hang out in a couple of psychological thriller groups on Facebook, but she is also active in a group that is all for Freida McFadden fans

After getting questions from many, she took to one of the groups to share that The Dinner Party is, in fact, a real book. The pre-order link will lead to getting the release, and it will be in paperback and eBook format first. The best thing about Kindle reading is that the links to the chapters will be clickable, making it easy to jump to the story.

While most of her novels are released on Audible, that’s not going to happen with The Dinner Party just yet. You can probably imagine the trouble jumping from chapter to chapter while listening! There will be an audiobook version eventually. McFadden shared that Dreamscape says they've done it before, and Megan Tusing and Will Damron will narrate.

The Dinner Party will be released on April 4, 2026 in paperback and on Kindle. Now is the time to head to Amazon to get your pre-order, ready to pick your poison on this very real book adventure.

Colby Donaldson Reveals He Was Hours from Medical Evacuation on 'Survivor 50' (Exclusive)

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:01am

Survivor 50 is here! Every week, Parade's Mike Bloom will bring you interviews with the castaway most recently voted off the island.

While Survivor 50 has been full of plenty of surprises so far, perhaps the biggest is the enthusiasm Colby Donaldson brought to the beach. Indeed, over the 15 years he was away from the show, like Hollywood has done many times, Superman had returned to life. And so one of the show's original heroes was back for the landmark season, eager to find redemption — and some joy. And, while he ultimately left the game with no vote and no win, he left with another prize he had been pining for since the zenith of his days in the Australian Outback: An island experience that was sweeter than any Hershey Bar.

Considering the considerable hiatus between appearances, Colby was eager to work with players both old and new. The exception, however, was the biggest unknown: Rizo Velovic. Or at least, that was the case initially. Indeed, as Vatu began to relax in a winning streak, the "Colbster" warmed up to the "RizGod," seeing a version of himself who started this journey all those years ago. But, while Colby basked in the majority, a couple of things poured a bucket of cold water (much like his brother did all those years ago). One of his allies, Kyle Fraser, was medevaced. And Colby faced another massive loss in his vote, as he went toe-to-toe with fellow challenge record holder Savannah Louie during the journey.

🔥Don’t miss our weekly Survivor newsletter! Sign up to get Mike Bloom’s exclusive interviews with the players and the latest news about the show right to your inbox.🔥

But that was a matter for another day (or ten). While everyone was told to drop their buffs, Colby picked right back up from where he left off, albeit on a new beach. He was able to make amends from the first Heroes vs. Villains challenge with Coach Wade, going from being frogmarched to hopefully marching with him to the end. Unfortunately, the newly-named "Tide Walker" and "Oakbound Warrior" would soon be pitted against one another.

The new "Blood Moon" twist divided the merged tribe up into three groups, which would each be going to Tribal Council. In the challenge, Colby's foot injury left him without a leg to stand on, literally, making him a sitting duck for the vote. And so, bathed in the glow of the fires he's visited many times before, he talked about his 50s as a time of reflection. And indeed, Survivor 50 in those few minutes became the show reflecting on its legacy players, both the impact the show has on its contestants, and vice versa. Colby's immense gratitude for the show that has occupied half of his life left everyone in tears. Because, at the end of the day, Colby Donaldson only knows how to play one way, and that's full-guilt.

Now out of the game, Colby talks with Parade about the extent of his foot injury (and how he was almost removed from the game), who he was looking to work with and target at the merge, and the moment he found the most joy on Season 50.

Related: Read our Survivor 50 pre-game interview with Colby Donaldson

So we have to start with where things ended at your first, and ultimately last, Tribal Council. There's been a lot of discourse online the past 12 hours about the fairness of the "Blood Moon" twist. Considering you didn't have a vote, when you saw the group you would be with, did you automatically think your number was up?
Oh, yeah. Because one, it's the other four people that are in my tribe. Two, it's the challenge we walk up on. And I think, Mike, in an interview I did prior to the challenge, when they were asking me about my foot injury, I said, "Just my luck, we're going to show up to a challenge where you got to stand on the foothold." I'd done that challenge before in Heroes vs. Villains. I hated the challenge the first time. I hated it even more the second time. But those are the breaks, right?

But, yeah, to answer your question, when I saw the other four, obviously, Coach and I were playing the game together, so that was a friendly face. But it did me no good. Without a vote, he can't do anything to help me. And I just know Cirie too well. We had already heard on our beach. We knew that she was playing with several other players. We knew she had she had really started to get locked in. But also I just know how good a player she is. After I lost the challenge, and Dee won it, I had to start thinking like Cirie. And her best move was to get rid of me. No doubt. When you're that exposed, not having a vote and not having a Shot in the Dark, anyone would be a fool not to take that shot, because it's an indefensible position that you're in, and when you don't have the numbers.

So yeah, a lot of luck in the rock draw. It's random. I hate the rock draw stuff. But I gotta say, my friend Genevieve had worse luck than I did. Not just at last night's rock draw with regard to her tribe, but in the entire game. She found two idols, and has to give both of them away. What are the odds of that?! So she caught some bad luck along the way as well.

Let's talk some more about this foot injury. We saw you at one point say it was hyperextended, then you say it was a stress fracture. So what was the extent of your injury? And, as Dee and Emily speculated, if you had stayed, would you have been medevaced?
They didn't show a lot of it, because, again, it didn't, it didn't matter in the storyline of things. I got voted out anyway. The first injury came by way of the Zac Brown challenge, and it was a hyperextension of my foot as we're pushing the boat up the beach. But what that did — and I learned after the game, once we got imagery — it tore a ligament in the bottom of my foot. So that wasn't good, but I probably could have made my way through the game. I certainly wasn't going to be a threat and physical challenges moving forward, but it wasn't an injury that was going to take me out of the game.

Separate and unrelated to that, but ironically, on the same exact foot. At some point, I stepped on something after the Zac Brown reward that must have punctured my foot, because I began to develop an infection on the beach. And we're checking in with medical before and after every challenge. If you go to Tribal, there's medical tents there. You can go in and privately discuss things with the doc and and have them look at you. And he immediately knew. He said, "Colby, this isn't good. You've got an infection in your foot. This can't be related to the ligament injury. You had to have punctured your foot." He couldn't find anything in the bottom of my foot that looked like a puncture wound. And they can't give you any antibiotics while you're in the game. So he said, "We've just got to see what happens with this." And that was on Day 9.

So by day 10, it's getting worse. Day 11, and I'm on the beach, and Chrissy comes over, and she knew it was bad. You could touch it, and it was scorching hot, which tells you right away, it's an infection. It was swelling, it was getting much redder. And then it started to develop a big — not to get gross — but a big pus pocket. So it was most definitely an infection. They can't treat that in the game.

And so when I met with Dr. Joe, before that Tribal Council, I knew I was going home, and he was ready to pull me. But he wasn't going to do it if I didn't want to go. And I said, "Look, Doc, I'm not surviving this Tribal Council tonight. If I do, we'll reassess this tomorrow. But I'd like to at least go to Tribal without getting medically removed from the game." After I got voted out, and then back at Ponderosa, Dr. Joe kept coming to check on me every couple of days. And it ended up being one of the worst infections they've had in since Dr. Joe got brought on to the game. So it was bad. And that infection. Mike, I could not have made it through the game with that. There was no way I could have finished the game out. Not because of the ligament damage, but because of the infection.

Cautionary tale to those of you wanting to go back and play again, or for first time players going. This is a little inside pro tip here. There are only two of us, Ozzy and myself, that did not wear our shoes at Ponderosa when we're doing our interviews. When I interviewed with you, Mike, remember that day we're all going around all the different media outlets and doing interviews? I wasn't wearing shoes that day. Strategically, I was toughening up the bottom of my feet. Ironic that I end up with a foot injury. But I was walking around barefoot everywhere, as was Ozzy. And I looked over there and saw Ozzy doing it, but we were just getting used to being barefoot all the time. And I was just on a I was on a production trail. This was a trail that production had made through the jungle so they could get equipment back and forth. But you can imagine the amount of traffic, and thereby the amount of bacteria on stumps and everything in the trail. But I've regretted that ever since going barefoot. Because the infection would have been prevented had I been wearing shoes, heading back to the holding area where they had us.

That is absolutely eye-opening. One of the reasons why you get the boot here is, as Cirie says, you were perceived as the "head of the snake" of a possible old-school alliance brewing. How accurate is that? Who were you trying to bring together at the merge?
I wouldn't frame it as an old school. Yes, there were those of us from the old school in it. But then there were old schoolers like Cirie not necessarily in it. But we also, Mike had some of the new era players. And that was part of my strategic game that I was very proud of. I bonded, like I mentioned, with Genevieve on Night 1. Genevieve and I were locked in Kyle. Obviously, he went out. Q went out. But those were also two new era players that I really bonded with.

Rizo is another one. At this point in the game, Rizo and I have been apart for a while, but we're still on very good terms. I know Rizo is playing both sides of it, but I have to believe, and I've talked to him since, I still had a little bit of influence on Rizo at this point. And had I been able to make the merge and bring those together, I was pulling in players from a lot of different areas. So it wasn't just what people would assume is the old school group. And again, I don't know that I was the head of the snake at all, but I had a lot of friends on different beaches and a lot of ways to play. I'd put myself in a good position with most of the players. Now, there was a faction of players out there that I simply didn't connect with. And unfortunately, a few of those were on this little squad of five that I ended up with at this challenge.

If this first merge vote had been with all 17 people together, who would you have tried to go after? Was it somebody that you were not friends with?
Well, we had discussed Aubry and Tiffany on our beach. So if we just step back for a second to the Kalo beach, we had Coach, Joe, me, Chrissy and Genevieve over there. And so it was Aubry or Tiffany. So we always had a target. And in fact, going all the way back to the beginning of the game, when it was Stephenie, Kyle, Q, me, Rizo, and Genevieve, we were targeting either Aubry or Angelina at that time, right? And so we sort of had our sights on Aubry early on, so much so that we really discussed throwing a challenge intentionally. Because at one point early on, Mike, Q didn't have a vote, and I didn't have a vote. So if we go to one Tribal Council, we both get our votes back. We both become valuable again.

And we had the numbers to throw a challenge and take out Angelina, flush out Aubry's idol. We knew Aubry had an idol. We knew it even though we didn't find it in her bag. There were so many things that were at play. Some of it you've seen on TV, a lot of it you didn't ,where we knew she had the idol. So anytime we were going to try to take her out, we needed to split the votes.

We came onto Kalo. So now we're looking at intentionally throwing a challenge so that I can get my vote back. And we had the numbers. We had the numbers with Joe, Coach, Chrissy, Genevieve and myself. I have no vote, Coach and Chrissy, let's say, vote for Tiff. Genevieve and Joe vote for Aubry. Aubry and Tiffany vote for Genevieve. Aubry plays her idol. So now we've got a tie. You go to a revote, the idol's out, and then the players with votes could then take out either Tiffany or Aubry, right?

So again, there were many discussions about throwing a challenge intentionally, and that goes against everything Coach and Joe and me and all of us want. Nobody wants to throw a challenge. But Q is the first one that brought it up, and I thought it was ludicrous. And then I sat on the beach with Q and Genevieve, because she's exponentially more intelligent than I am, and she knows the game to a degree far greater than I do. I said, "Genevieve, run the numbers. Where does the risk fall here versus reward if we throw a challenge?" And Genevieve noodled on it for a while, and she came back to me and she said, "Colby, this could really work. I think we need to throw a challenge." And once I had a great strategic mind like hers on board, then I was ready. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I was ready to throw a challenge. We couldn't get everybody on board. Same thing at Kalo. Joe really didn't want to throw the challenge. Now here's a little tidbit, Mike. You've seen that one challenge that we won immunity last week.

Right, with throwing the sandbags.
Yeah, tossing the sandbags up onto the dish. Did you see in that first leg where Joe was in last place and looked gassed? He wasn't gassed. Joe was pulling up. Joe was giving the other tribes a chance to get ahead. Because we knew if we lost, we could navigate or execute what I was talking about in terms of the split vote. So that was Joe not being gassed out. He was acting like it, but giving everybody else a chance, in the hopes that we might lose this thing and be okay and go to Tribal Council.

It was at the end that his pride came in, and I get it, man, you know. I'm sure he's sitting there throwing those bean bags up, and he's like, "Dude, my buddies back at the firehouse are going to give me all kinds of hell if I lose this challenge." And the male ego took over, and we ended up winning.

And they didn't show this. But Chrissy and I are over on the bench, on the side. And we win. Normally, you just come off the bench and you're high fiving and cheering. And there was a camera on us, but they didn't cut to it in the edit. Chrissy and I don't even get up, and we turned to each other. And I looked at her and I said, "S—t, we can't even lose when we're trying." And that's the way we felt. We really wanted to go to Tribal Council at that challenge. And again who knows how things would have been different? You never know. Things could go sideways at Tribal Council, so it's always a risk. Tiffany could have had something we weren't aware of, whether it was an Extra Vote or an idol or something like that. So it is a huge gamble; it's a big risk. And it's a selfish ask of me, because I'm the dude without a vote. So if I'm trying to convince a tribe to throw a challenge intentionally, it just feels very self-serving to do that.

I want to finish with the last words you tell the other players, and it was one of the first things you said in the opening of the season: Find the joy. What was the moment you found the most joy in Survivor 50?
Well, the players were a huge component to it. And I meant that when I said the friendships I forged over there, or are so meaningful with so many people. And a lot of them, I didn't expect to become friends with so many players in the game. But my one of the takeaways from this time is the same as it's been on all my experiences. Some of the times I cherish the most are at night when everyone's asleep. And I wake up in the middle of the night and there's one or two camera guys. And I can go down the beach by myself, because there's no point in following me. I'm not talking strategy with anyone.

The stars are out, the moon is out. And I talked to my family back home, and. And that will always be a gift from Survivor that you can only get in a situation like that. When are you going to be on a beach in Fiji in the middle of a game where things are so chaotic, and be able to walk down the beach by yourself at night, under the moon and stars, and really appreciate all that you love and you miss back home. You're in this game, but you're missing a whole lot that's back home. And I will always remember those times. Those are my favorite moments on Survivor, believe it or not. Ironically, are the quiet ones when I'm by myself. It's unmatchable.

Finally, that Tribal Council was one major moment of reflection on both how Survivor has affected you, and how you have affected Survivor. What was it like to have Jeff Probst tell you, "One last time, Donaldson," before getting your torch snuffed, considering the relationship you've had over the decades?
He hadn't called me by my last name in a decade and a half or more. That was his little tip of the hat to me. And I appreciate our friendship that he and I have had for a lot of years.

’80s Trailblazer With Historic Oscar Win Turns 81

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 9:00am

Linda Hunt is celebrating a major milestone as she turns 81 today.

Born on April 2, 1945, the iconic actress, whose real name is Lydia Susanna Hunter, was a native of Morristown, New Jersey.

In the ‘70s, she began her career in her 20s through theater plays. Hunt made her first professional acting appearance after joining the 1972 New York Shakespeare Festival production of Hamlet, where she took on the character of Player Queen.

With her growing experience performing before large audiences, she later made her Broadway debut as Norah in the 1975 revival of Eugene O'Neill's Ah, Wilderness!

Three years later, driven by her determination and passion for acting, she made her first on-screen appearance in the 1978 television movie Fame, playing Mona, a female jockey who abandoned her dream to pursue acting because of physical limitations.

However, unlike her role in Fame, Hunt’s condition didn't hinder her from chasing her passion for acting.

The iconic actress was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism, which contributed to her slow motor development in childhood.

During her teenage years, she was later diagnosed with hypopituitary dwarfism, resulting in her height of 4 feet 9.

“Everybody either wanted to take care of me or push me around, you know?” she told CBS Sunday Morning, adding, “I was teased a lot, sure I was, of course. Fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade, everybody was taking their spurts except me. I was not growing up.”

Despite the challenging circumstances she was dealing with and feeling “totally alienated by school,” Hunt never felt different at home, where her family remained a constant source of support.

“I was so lucky my parents were encouraging on every level,” the actress shared with The Bulletin in 1991.

Linda Hunt Makes Oscar History

With her impressive acting skills and commanding stage presence, the New Jersey native landed iconic roles, including Henrietta "Hetty" Lange, the operations manager on NCIS: Los Angeles and not to mention portraying male Chinese-Australian photographer and political activist Billy Kwan in The Year of Living Dangerously.

Interestingly, this role also earned Hunt her first and only Oscar after taking home Best Supporting Actress at the 56th Academy Awards. The win was also a record-breaking moment, making her the first actor to have won an Oscar for portraying a character of the opposite sex.

Fans may also recognize her signature raspy voice, heard as Grandmother Willow in Disney's Pocahontas and as the narrator in the God of War video game franchise.

Magnum’s New Ice Cream Bar Flavor Is ‘Heavenly,’ Fans Say

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:58am

Magnum is finally giving ice cream bar lovers in the U.S. its version of one of today's biggest flavor trends.

The iconic ice cream company is known for its wide-ranging flavors, high-quality ice cream and the crackling texture of its decadent chocolate shell, which breaks with each bite to reveal the ultra-creamy, premium ice cream beneath. Fans all across the globe know they can count on the brand to churn out something tasty and depending on where they're located, sometimes they can enjoy first dibs or exclusive releases not seen elsewhere.

But if there's anything snackers are going to do, it's talk about what they ate, so when Magnum dropped a Dubai Chocolate-inspired ice cream bar overseas last year, it didn't take long for fans all across the globe to know about its existence. It first popped up in India, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, but now, word on the street is that Magnum's Dubai Chocolate Style Ice Cream Bars have landed stateside.

Magnum Drops Its Dubai Chocolate Style Ice Cream Nationwide

According to an official retailer's description, the new Magnum ice cream bars feature a "delightful combination" of pistachio ice cream, chocolate and kadayif, delivering a "rich and creamy experience that is truly indulgent."

Each bar is made with premium pistachio-flavored ice cream that's dipped in smooth milk chocolate, perfectly complemented by crispy kadayif pieces, according to the brand.

When we say "premium ice cream," we're not using the term to mean it's elite, but to refer to strict standards defined by the FDA that determine how a product is labeled. In the case of premium ice cream, experts say it typically has a higher fat content, less overrun (air whipped in during the churning process), and higher-quality ingredients, making it creamier and more flavorful than standard ice cream.

Reviewers seem to agree that this is definitely premium, as one fan overseas gushed in an Instagram Reel, saying, "It's insanely good."

"The 'aesthetic' break was a fail," a second joked, "but that green center is a 10/10 💚."

"This heavenly delicious 🤤," a third declared, adding "this deserves to be hyped😍."

"It's actually soo gooddd🫠," another shared.

Even those who haven't had it are convinced that they just have to grab it.

"This better not be an April Fools' joke," one demanded while another cheered, "Omg! Can’t wait😋."

Where Will Magnum's New Ice Cream Bar Flavor Be Available?

So far, shoppers have spotted Magnum's new Dubai-Style Chocolate Ice Cream Bars in the freezer aisles of Sam's Club, in boxes of 12 individually wrapped treats for about $11.86 (prices may vary). Whether the flavor is exclusive to the mega retailer or will be available elsewhere in smaller packages is currently unclear.

The 'Magic Number' For a Comfortable Retirement Just Increased—Are You Even Close?

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:49am

Each year, Northwestern Mutual publishes a survey that determines how much money the average American will need to enjoy a comfortable retirement. The 2026 edition of the report has just been released, and according to the company's findings, Americans will need to set aside an additional $200,000 if they want to live comfortably in retirement.

Unfortunately, many of the people surveyed say that it will be an impossible feat, especially when looking at the new "magic number" that Northwestern Mutual says you'll really need if you want to be able to avoid working in retirement. Honestly, I can't see myself ever saving up this much money, even if I had started decades ago.

The 'Magic Number' Americans Need in Retirement Has Increased

According to a press release from Northwestern Mutual, the new magic number Americans need to retire is $1.46 million. This is an increase from last year's estimates, and falls more in line with what the financial experts say in 2024. The report included the past five years of its findings, which broke down to the following "magic numbers" by year:

  • 2025 was $1.26 million
  • 2024 was $1.46 million
  • 2023 was $1.27 million
  • 2022 was $1.25 million

"The new 'magic number' reflects a convergence of factors—from persistent inflation and longer life expectancies to uncertainty about the future of Social Security," John Roberts, chief field officer at Northwestern Mutual, said in a statement. "Retirement is increasingly complex, and Americans are responding by setting higher expectations for what they'll need. What matters now is pairing those expectations with a thoughtful, comprehensive financial plan that will enable them to reach their unique goals."

Americans are Not Prepared to Save Enough for Retirement

According to the press release, Northwestern Mutual says most people will need to replace about 80 percent of their pre-retirement income after leaving the workforce. However, 23 percent of the people surveyed said they have only about 1 year's worth of income saved so far.

As expected, the figures break down differently depending on the generation, and Northwestern says that Gen Xers feel fairly prepared for retirement, with 49 percent saying they will be financially ready when the time comes. Meanwhile, 55 percent of Millennials and Boomers say the same.

Gen Z seems to feel the most prepared, though, and 58 percent of that age group says they think they'll be in good shape when the time comes. However, half of Millennials and Gen X believe they will work through their retirement, highlighting a deeper insecurity about what the future will hold for the next two generations in line for retirement. That being said, it's not too late to catch up on your retirement savings. Talking to a certified financial advisor about your retirement goals and how you can save enough money to achieve them is one of the best ways to determine the steps you can take to prepare.

Dave Ramsey Claims  Americans Who Say They Can't Live on Average Income These Days Are Lying, and People Are Calling BS

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:45am

Most Americans are familiar with financial guru Dave Ramsey, whose budgeting advice has been a lifeline for many families who struggle to keep their spending in check. And while Ramsey is beloved by those who have benefited from the extra help, there are those who are critical of his approach.

Some of those people ended up in the comments of a recent Facebook post Ramsey made about "average income," where he called people out for saying that they can't afford to live on today's wages. After reading through these responses, I can't help but wonder if Ramsey's approach is falling out of favor with Americans who find themselves stretched even thinner as their debt grows and their buying power shrinks in today's economy.

Dave Ramsey Shared a Post on Facebook About 'Average Income'

Ramsey kicked off April with a Facebook post about how Americans are wasting their money because they aren't being intentional with their purchases, saying that it's a lie that you can't live off the "average income" in America, claiming that the Median household income in America is $83,730, and the average household expenses are $78,535.

"After doing this for 30+ years, I can tell you that the issue probably isn’t your income. It’s what you’re doing with it," he wrote, saying that many people wonder where their money went at the end of each month despite not having done anything productive with it.

"You don’t have to live that way. When you get intentional, when you get on a proven plan, when you say no to things that don’t matter so you can say yes to things that do, everything changes," Ramsey's post continued. "An average income with discipline will take you further than a high income with chaos ever will."

He ended his message by telling his followers that there is "hope" and a way forward, but first, people have to decide to stop doing what other people are doing.

Ramsey's Followers Blasted Him Over His Remarks

While Ramsey typically has a loyal following, his comments seem to have hit a nerve with people, especially when he used figures to talk about "average income."

"Love you, Dave. But you might be missing how much the mean income is skewed by billionaires and the uber-rich," one person wrote while sharing a meme that claimed that the true average American income was just $35,500 when you exclude the wealthiest Americans.

Meanwhile, other people pointed out that today's economy isn't the same as it was previously, with one person writing, "While that may be true, how much buying power do we have now vs 20 or 30 years ago?"

"Median and average are two different ways of measuring data. I’m going to show this to my statistics class tomorrow and talk about how people can manipulate data to prove any point they want," another person wrote.

The Average American Income Isn't as High as Ramsey Says

It sounds like Ramsey's math is really at fault, and Fidelity says the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found the median wage in 2025 was just $62,088. Those numbers varied by age as well, with younger Americans taking home less pay (25- to 34-year-olds made just $58,500 per year) than older Americans (those ages 45 to 54 made $71,552 per year).

Meanwhile, the average amount of debt per U.S. household outpaces earnings, at $105,056, according to CNBC, with the numbers further broken down by age, showing once again that the younger population carries more debt, while older Americans carry much less.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Former Prosecutor Suggests Case Could Go Cold Unless ‘Somebody Talks’

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:44am

A former Orange County prosecutor is weighing in on what it may take to move the Nancy Guthrie case forward. On a recent episode of Prof Jo Explains, Matt Murphy said he believes investigators will eventually get answers, but warned that without someone coming forward with information, the process could take years—something he says is not uncommon in cases like this.

"I think, eventually, they're going to catch this guy," Murphy said. "There'll be answers. But it may take—I mean, I did cold cases that were 15, 20 years old sometimes—so, it'll take a while. I think somebody's gonna have to talk."

Guthrie, 84, was reported missing by her family on Sunday, Feb. 1. Following an initial investigation, authorities believe that Guthrie was abducted from her home in the middle of the night. Despite receiving thousands of tips, neither the Pima County Sheriff's Department nor the FBI have been able to identify a suspect or suspects in the case.

As for a possible motive, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has offered a few confusing statements.

"We believe we know why he did this, and we believe that it was targeted, but we can’t — we’re not 100% sure of that, and so it’d be silly to tell people, ‘Yeah, don’t worry about it. You’re not his target.’ No, you could be,” Nanos told NBC News in mid-March. Days later, Nanos seemed to walk back that statement.

"When I tell you that I believe that this occurred or that occurred, that is my opinion. That’s all that is,” Nanos said on KVOI AM 1030’s Bill Buckmaster Show. “The case will get us there. We let the evidence show us the way, and that’s what we base everything on. Right now, everything is speculative. We don’t have anything in front of us that says ‘this is who did this, and this is why’."

Murphy is also stumped on a motive, as there are still many possibilities.

"Right now, it could be absolutely anything, right? Could be sexual assault, could be a kidnapping gone wrong, could have been a, I mean, theoretically, could have been a burglary," he said on Prof Jo Explains. "Part of it is, we haven't seen the inside of the house." Murphy said that there had to be some kind of evidence inside the house that investigators saw, that the public hasn't been told about.

"It could be anything," Murphy said.

Why Skipping This Step Can Undo Your Skincare Routine

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:43am

You can own every trendy serum, follow a 10-step routine religiously and drop serious money on professional treatments—but if you're missing one super important step, you're essentially lighting your skincare budget on fire. These are the unfortunate facts!

Dermatologists see this pattern constantly: patients investing in retinoids, vitamin C, peptides and in-office procedures while completely neglecting the one thing that determines whether any of those investments pay off.

It's like buying an expensive car and never changing the oil—you're going to undo all that value through one simple omission. And the damage is cumulative, which means every day you skip this step, you're not just losing that day's protection. You're adding to years of deterioration that no amount of corrective skincare can fully reverse.

This isn't about adding something complicated or expensive to your routine. It's about doing something simple that most people either forget entirely or consider optional depending on the weather, their schedule or whether they're "really going outside today."

We asked board-certified dermatologists to identify the single most commonly skipped step that undermines everything else. Here's what they said.

The Skincare Routine Step to Never Skip, According to Dermatologists

It’s always the same culprit: sunscreen

Dr. Whitney Hovenic, double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon, doesn't mince words. "The step I see patients skip most, and the one that can completely undermine everything else they're doing for their skin, is applying sunscreen as the final step of their morning routine," she says. We’ll say it again for the people in the back: you can spend a fortune on skincare products, lasers and in-office treatments, but it's all for nothing if you're not protecting the skin you're investing in.

The numbers back this up. "Up to 90% of visible skin aging is caused by sun exposure. Ultraviolet radiation breaks down collagen and elastin, triggers pigmentation and accelerates fine lines, wrinkles and uneven texture," Dr. Hovenic explains, adding that sunscreen isn't optional—it's the non-negotiable final step of any morning skincare routine.

Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every single morning, rain or shine, to protect your skin and preserve the results of everything else you're doing for it.

The Most Important Parts of a Good Skincare Routine

It’s worth taking a closer look at what truly plays the biggest role in taking care of your skin. Some people swear by multi-step regimens, while others keep things simple and still see results. Understanding what really makes a difference can help you avoid wasted time and money.

Dr. Hovenic says that being consistent is often more important than the smaller details of your routine. "The best skincare routine is the one you actually stick to," she says.

Dr. Chang Sonagrees. "Find a regimen that works for you—ideally with a specialist's guidance if needed—based on your ability to stay consistent, as well as the cost and time involved," he advises. "Once you establish a routine that fits your lifestyle, it's important to follow it consistently. Regular adherence is the only way to gradually change your skin's physiology and achieve the results you're looking for.”

Dr. Nicole Lee, board-certified dermatologist and owner of Epoch Dermatology, points out another all-too important part of any good skin care routine: "Washing your face at the end of the day! Cleansing is the foundation of any skincare routine," she says.

This can be easy to overlook when you’re tired, but it’s vital. "Throughout the day, the skin accumulates oil, sweat, pollution, makeup and sunscreen,” Lee says. “If those aren't properly removed, they can clog pores and interfere with how the rest of your skincare products work.” A good cleanse essentially resets the skin so everything applied afterward can be more effective.

What Is the Best Anti-Aging Skincare Routine?

Getty

There are so many ways to approach anti-aging skincare, that it’s easy to get pulled in different directions trying to figure out what actually works. The advice never seems to stop. It helps to take a step back and look at what really defines an effective approach in the first place.

Looking at the bigger picture can shift how people think about skincare. Instead of focusing only on products or quick fixes, consider how your overall health and daily habits might affect your skin’s condition over time.

Dr. Son takes a holistic view. "Remember, the skin is not an isolated organ—it exists in homeostasis with the rest of the body,” he says. So, adequate nutrition and overall good health may be among the most important factors in maintaining an effective skincare routine.

"Sufficient hydration and avoiding extrinsic factors that contribute to skin aging are essential," adds Dr. Son.

It can be a lot easier to put those big-picture ideas into practice on a daily basis if you have a clear structure in place.

Dr. Lee breaks it down into four pillars. "A well-rounded anti-aging routine usually includes four key components: sunscreen to prevent collagen breakdown, antioxidants like vitamin C to neutralize environmental damage, retinoids to stimulate collagen production and accelerate cell turnover, and barrier-supporting moisturizers to maintain skin hydration and resilience," she says. "When used consistently, this combination addresses both prevention and repair.”

Once you have the foundation in place, you may want to build on those results with optional additional treatments.

"Ingredients like hyaluronic acid and peptides help maintain skin plumpness and elasticity over time." Dr. Hovenic explains, and goes on to add that in-office treatments such as laser resurfacing or microneedling can also support long-term skin health by stimulating collagen and elastin production.

How To Build an Effective Skincare Routine

The way to create a skincare routine that works for you is to begin with a very basic one. Then slowly customize it based on any concerns you have specific to your skin.

Dr. Lee recommends doing this process slowly and patiently. "The best approach is to start simple and build gradually,” she explains.

The basic elements of any skincare routine are essentially the same for everyone: cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. "That's your foundation,” says Dr. Hovenic.

“Once your skin tolerates that foundation well, you can introduce targeted actives one at a time," Dr. Lee explains. "Introducing products slowly allows you to monitor how your skin responds and prevents unnecessary irritation."

“Add in a retinoid at night and vitamin C in the morning for its antioxidant properties," Dr. Hovenic suggests. "From there, identify your primary skin concern, whether it's acne, hyperpigmentation, aging or sensitivity and introduce one active ingredient at a time so you can monitor how your skin responds."

Whatever you do, don’t rush to make changes or add new products. Take every step bit by bit.

"I recommend giving any new product four to six weeks before evaluating results," Dr. Hovenic adds. And when in doubt, consulting a board-certified dermatologist can help ensure your routine is tailored to your skin's specific needs.

Prince Harry Learned Meghan Markle Was 'Unwelcome' at Balmoral After the Queen’s Passing, Claims Royal Author

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:42am

A royal author claims that Prince Harry faced scrutiny for Meghan Markle's past actions, leading to her being "unwelcome" at Balmoral after Queen Elizabeth's death.

Royal author Tom Bower reported in his book Betrayal that it was King Charles who delivered the news to Harry that Meghan shouldn't travel to Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where Elizabeth died on September 8, 2022, at 96.

Bower reported that Charles called Harry to share the news that Meghan was "unwelcome" after Harry expressed his need to have his wife there to support him. An excerpt from Betrayal was published by Express.

"When Charles heard that Meghan intended to come, he called Harry. That was unacceptable," Bower reported.

"Since Meghan had refused the Queen’s invitations to Balmoral in the Queen’s lifetime, she was unwelcome at her death," the author claimed. "Sharing his grief with Meghan, who maligned the monarchy, was unthinkable. [Charles] believed that, to her dying day, his mother was shocked by Harry’s disloyalty."

The author added that Meghan wasn't the only royal wife not in attendance. Reportedly, Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife, was also not invited to Balmoral to pay her condolences.

"Charles ended their argument by revealing that Kate would not be coming, so Meghan had not been picked on. Still fuming, Harry discovered that William, who was unwilling to wait any longer, had ordered the plane to take off," Bower concluded.

This moment was noted in an interview Harry had with Anderson Cooper. PEOPLE Magazine published an excerpt, echoing that same information.

"I asked my brother — I said, 'What are your plans? How are you and Kate getting up there?' And then, a couple of hours later, you know, all of the family members that live within the Windsor and Ascot area were jumping on a plane together, a plane with 12, 14, maybe 16 seats," Harry wrote.

"You were not invited on that plane?" asked Cooper. "I was not invited," Harry responded.

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ Legend Susan Boyle Shines With Bright Blonde Hair on 65th Birthday

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:39am

Susan Boyle is 65 and shining as a blonde on her birthday!

The Scottish singer, who skyrocketed to fame when her performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables at her Britain’s Got Talent audition went viral back in 2009, is doing better than ever after several years of health difficulties. Boyle took to Instagram on Thursday to thank her friends, family, and fans for the well-wishes on her birthday, and looked happy and healthy while sporting a chic blonde bob. Wearing a pink-and-white coat and glasses, the talented singer was surrounded by balloons as she expressed her gratitude.

"Thank you all so much for your lovely birthday wishes, cards, and gifts. I’ve felt so spoiled and very grateful for all your kindness.💕 I’m truly touched by all the love you’ve sent my way, it means more to me than I can say. I’m so excited for the year ahead and everything that’s to come. I can’t wait to share it all with you. 💫 With love, Susan x," Boyle captioned the photo.

What Health Issues Has Susan Boyle Faced?

Boyle is shining these days brightly, but she’s faced significant challenges in the years following her breakout success. She was diagnosed with Asperger’s in 2013 and explained that she deals with depression and mood swings, according to The Guardian. However, she made it clear the diagnosis wouldn’t define her.

“It will not make any difference to my life. It’s just a condition that I have to live with and work through,” she explained.

In April of 2022, she suffered a stroke. On Instagram, she opened up about the event and the battle to recover.

“For the past year I have worked so hard to get my speech and singing back, with the sole aim of being able to sing on stage again & tonight my hard work & perseverance paid off, singing the song that started it all, ‘I Dreamed A Dream’…”

It’s so great to see the star doing so well!

52 Years Ago Today, '60s Icon Won Her Second Best Actress Award at the Oscars

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:38am

On April 2, 1974, the spotlight at the 46th Academy Awards turned to a surprising winner: Glenda Jackson, who took home her second Best Actress Oscar for her role in A Touch of Class

The ceremony, held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, marked a historic moment in Hollywood and a defining chapter in Jackson’s remarkable career.

The British star’s victory came as a shock to many. Competing against strong contenders like Ellen Burstyn for The Exorcist and Barbra Streisand for The Way We Were, Jackson was not widely expected to win.

Yet, when presenters Susan Hayward and Charlton Heston announced her name, it cemented one of the most memorable upsets in Oscars history.

Per Gold Derby, Jackson was not present to accept the award, just as she had missed her first win for Women in Love. Still, her performance as Vicki Allessio, a British divorcee navigating a romantic affair, left a strong impression on voters and critics alike.

The 1974 ceremony, co-hosted by Burt Reynolds, Diana Ross, John Huston and David Niven, celebrated some of the most iconic films of the era.

Crime caper The Sting, directed by George Roy Hill, dominated the night with seven wins, including Best Picture and Best Director. Meanwhile, Jack Lemmon won Best Actor for Save the Tiger.

Despite the strong competition and major box office hits in the lineup, Jackson’s win stood out for its unpredictability. At the time, many awards watchers believed the race was between Burstyn and Streisand, with Marsha Mason also considered a contender. Jackson, by contrast, was seen as a less likely pick.

Jackson’s second Oscar win placed her in a rare class of actresses recognized twice for Best Actress. Her success was driven not just by one performance, but by a wave of acclaim that followed her earlier triumph in Women in Love and her Emmy-winning turn in the BBC series Elizabeth R.

She was widely respected for her craft, often described as a serious actor rather than a traditional movie star. Her peers admired her intense performances and intellectual approach to roles, which helped her stand out in a crowded field of talented nominees.

Her victory also reflected broader support for A Touch of Class, which earned multiple nominations, including Best Picture. The film’s recognition across categories likely boosted Jackson’s chances, helping her edge ahead in a divided race.

Jackson remains one of the few performers to achieve the prestigious Triple Crown of Acting, winning Oscars, Emmys and a Tony Award. Her career spanned stage, film and television, marked by bold choices and powerful performances.

After reaching the peak of her acting career, Jackson made an unexpected move into politics, serving for more than two decades as a Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom. She later returned to acting, earning renewed acclaim well into her 80s.

Her death in 2023 at age 87 prompted tributes celebrating her “three-act life” as an actor, politician and actor again. Today, her 1974 Oscar win is remembered not just as a surprise victory but as a moment that captured her unique place in entertainment history.

'The Bachelorette’s' Michael Allio Created a Children’s Book in the Most Heartbreakingly Adorable Way Possible (Exclusive)

Thu, 04/02/2026 - 8:32am

When we initially met Michael Allio on The Bachelorette, we had heard some of his story. In 2019, he had lost his wife to breast cancer, and he was a single father just trying to do the best he could for his son, and he certainly did.

He chose to leave the series because his son wanted him home, and it’s one of the best parenting decisions he could ever make. After that, he went on Bachelor in Paradise, and while he left in a relationship, that didn’t last.

It’s not a story of a man being unlucky in love. As I chatted with Allio about his new children’s book, Where the Wild Heart Grows, he shared that he is with a woman, Jade, who is everything he needed in his and his son’s life. We didn’t get too much into the new relationship, though — except that James genuinely adores her and she him — as we chatted a lot about Allio’s book and story.

Where the Wild Heart Grows is a beautiful story about loss and grief, while also focusing on embracing the different seasons of life on the path of becoming. It's one that touches deep in the soul, creating stories that can be revisited as time passes. The origin of it is the most interesting aspect, and it looks like there could be more to this storytelling.

“I originally started writing these short stories, bedtime stories, because I really struggled to find the right words, what to say, how to say it, how to breach the conversation to allow him to be a kid whilst creating a safe place for him to speak about all the things that happened in our life. We love to read at bedtime, and that’s when the world quietens down.

So, I started writing these stories for him that I found created a bridge between us, parent and child, where the child isn’t the center of the question. As I was writing this, there was a part of me that was healing in the process. I was writing words that I needed to hear.”

The “things that happened in our life” comment is directly attached to the loss of Allio’s wife, Laura. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, and she passed away two years later. James was only young, but she will always be remembered as a part of their lives. It’s something Allio would later confirm while speaking about Jade and how she fits into his life as a widower.

The short stories focused on loss and grief, giving James a chance to ask the questions that he needed. As Allio said, they helped to heal a part of him, which is why he knows Where the Wild Heart Grows isn’t just a children’s book. He went on to share, “I think parents that are reading this to their kids are going to pool different lessons and it’ll mirror their own life in so many ways.”

This isn’t about toxic positivity, either. It’s not about just moving on, but about feeling the emotions and sitting with them at times. The book isn’t even just about loss through death. There are all sorts of ways that we can feel grief and loss, whether it’s from a breakup, a job loss, or something else major that happens in our lives, and it’s why it works so well for so many people.

Where The Wild Heart Grows

It turns out that there are more than 40 short stories, but only seven have made it into Where the Wild Heart Grows, so there’s certainly room for a follow-up! Every story is set in a forest, where the world of nature interconnects, creating a way of looking at loss in a more organic way.

“Who knows better about the seasons of life than the things in nature?” Allio pointed out to Parade, “Trees losing their leaves and streams breaking apart. Those kind of lessons that we can pull from nature or exist in our own life”

So, where did this story start from? It turns out that it was Allio simply looking out of the window and seeing a tree losing its leaves. Allio started to look at it with a more human viewpoint, “Does that tree mourn the loss of the leaves? Is the tree wise enough to know that it goes through these seasons and, in order to let go of certain things, it makes room and space for something beautiful to grow? What if we are able to bring those concepts into our own life? Would that allow us to live a happier, more peaceful, free life?”

Personally, it made me think of the eagles on the live cams. If you’ve watched Jackie and Shadow, Mrs. T, or M15 (and mourned F23) on YouTube or TikTok then you know what I mean. Eagles don’t have the same human emotions as us, but they do mourn, and then they accept life as it is. They will see their babies fledge, and they may never know what happens to those babies afterward, but life moves forward, and so do they.

The artwork in the book is something that deserves its own attention. There are 35 oil-painted illustrations throughout Where the Wild Heart Grows, all exquisitely created by Luke Stretar, and there is a personal connection to Allio with them.

“It’s the craziest story,” Allio explained, “Sometimes life just provides. After I wrote this book, I was thinking that I was going to have to search the country trying to find an artist. It turns out that James is in [Luke’s] son, Tommy’s, third grade class. They’re on the same baseball team, and Luke tells me he’s an artist. I looked at his art, and it’s tonalist. He paints gorgeous American landscapes, and the tonalist style is about light into darkness, so it was the perfect fit…It’s completely in line with the theme of the book, which is to slowdown.”

The artwork has been taken from the canvas to digital in the book, and you can get a sense of it just from the front cover. There is an old world vibe to everything, giving a sense of a form of storytelling that feels lost at times.

Don’t expect to see Where the Wild Heart Grows in major bookstores, though. While they’re great, Allio and his team want this to start out in the smaller stores — the independent bookstores that need our help. It does mean that it’s also not mass-produced, and you can pre-order for delivery directly from its own official website.

The website is a must-visit, as you’ll get to see much of the artwork that’s included. There are also teases of the seven stories included, a little about both Allio and Stretar, and another look into the meaning and hope behind the stories.

Where the Wild Heart Grows is available for pre-order now, and whatever type of loss you’ve felt, it’s an elegant tome filled with lessons and light.
