Lauren Tom, who played Julie on Friends, has announced that her daughter is fighting cancer.

Tom, 64, rose to notoriety in 1993's hit film The Joy Luck Club, based on the Amy Tan novel of the same name. But it was her role as Julie, the girlfriend of David Schwimmer's character Ross Geller on the beloved NBC series Friends, that catapulted her into comedy stardom. While Tom still acts onscreen frequently and has a major voice-over career, her message this week wasn't a joyful one.

In a new Instagram post, Tom shared that her daughter, Ellie, 25, has bone cancer.

"I wanted to share some tough news today…This is my beautiful daughter, Ellie. She is currently battling osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and my family and I are doing everything we can to aid in her healing. I am reminded of the Fred Rogers quote, 'When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’”

Tom went on to thank her friends and family, as well as their medical team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, "for their ongoing boundless support, love, and care.
It is truly humbling to see how willing people are to reach out and help."

Along with a carousel of photos of her daughter, Tom called Ellie "an amazing, deep, sensitive, wise, strong, brave, intelligent, and funny soul. Beautiful inside and out. What Is Osteosarcoma?

A kind of cancer that tends to happen most often in teenagers and young adults, Osteosarcoma begins in the cells that form bones, according to the Mayo Clinic. However, it can also happen in younger children and older adults. While it can start in any bone, it's most often found in the long bones of the legs, and sometimes the arms.

When Kate Bush released The Kick Inside in 1978, one of its most captivating songs had actually been written years earlier.

"The Saxophone Song" was penned when Bush was just 16 years old, making it one of the earliest compositions from the remarkable body of work that introduced her to the world. More than 45 years later, the dreamy ballad remains a favorite among longtime fans and a shining example of the songwriting maturity that made Bush one of music's most celebrated artists.

Bush wrote "The Saxophone Song" during a prolific creative period as a teenager, alongside several other songs that would eventually appear on The Kick Inside. Even before she had a recording contract, she was crafting sophisticated compositions that blended poetic imagery with melodies unlike anything else in popular music at the time.

"The Saxophone Song" showcases those qualities in abundance.

Built around gentle piano, lush instrumentation and Bush's unmistakable voice, the song paints an atmospheric portrait of longing and romantic idealism. Its flowing melody and emotional warmth helped it stand out on an album filled with future classics, revealing a songwriter whose artistic vision was already remarkably fully formed.

"I love saxophones so I wanted to write a song about them," Bush said in a 1980 interview with Sounds. "I think of a beautiful sax like a human being, a sensuous shining man being taken over by the instrument. The perfect setting was this smoky bar in Berlin with nobody listening except me in the corner."

Although it was never released as a single, the ballad has earned lasting appreciation over the decades.

Fans have long praised its rich arrangements and evocative lyrics, while critics have pointed to it as evidence of Bush's extraordinary talent at such a young age.

"I'd get up in the morning, practice scales at my piano, go off dancing, and then in the evening I'd come back and play the piano all night," Bush told VH1 of the hot summer of 1976. "I had all the windows open and I used to write until four in the morning. I got a letter of complaint from a neighbor who was basically saying, 'Shut up!' They got up at five to do shift work and my voice carried the length of the street."

The song also demonstrated the softer, more introspective side of her songwriting, balancing the theatrical energy of hits like "Wuthering Heights" with a more understated emotional depth.

The Kick Inside proved to be a landmark debut.

The album launched Bush to international fame, topped the U.K. charts, and established her as one of the most original voices of her generation. Its success paved the way for a career defined by fearless creativity and timeless songwriting, with Bush going on to influence countless artists across rock, pop, alternative and art music.

More than four decades after its release, "The Saxophone Song" continues to resonate with listeners through its graceful melody and heartfelt emotion. What began as the work of a gifted 16 year-old ultimately became a timeless soft rock favorite, offering an early glimpse of the extraordinary songwriter Kate Bush would soon become.

On Monday, July 20, TLC released its first look at the upcoming season—and revealed that the release date is just around the corner.

In the trailer, Amy and Tammy ring in the New Year with family and tackle New Year's resolutions. Amy and their brother, Chris Combs, hit the gym. Meanwhile, Amy announced, "I've started writing AI music."

When producers asked their sister, Misty Wentworth, what she thought of Amy's songs, she whispered, "Ask me when I'm off camera." Chris wasn't impressed either, as he pointed out, "If you use AI to do anything, you didn't do it."

Amy then quipped, "It ain't AI, it's Amy."

As far as Tammy and Amy's relationship was concerned in the wake of a serious rift, Amy explained, "Me and Tammy are taking things slow. We're still rebuilding trust."

Tammy agreed, adding, "It's gonna take time to get that bond back."

Amy also had goals of undergoing excess skin removal surgery and learning to drive with the help of her husband, Brian Lovvorn. "This is Amy 2.0, b---hes," she declared.

Another moment featured in the trailer showed Amy's siblings laughing after she shared her desire to make a music video. She bitterly told producers of her unsupportive family members, "When I get rich and famous, don't come crying to me. Do not darken my doorstep."

Elsewhere in the trailer, Tammy went horseback riding with her then-girlfriend, Andrea Dalton, calling the experience a "dream come true."

But not all was well in their relationship, as Andrea explained, "I care a lot about Tammy, but I can't be on this rollercoaster. I know what I have to do."

The trailer ended with Andrea asking Tammy, "Will you marry me?"

Additionally, TLC teased of Season 9, "As both sisters pursue new goals and navigate evolving relationships, they remain committed to repairing and strengthening their bond, proving that despite life's challenges, their connection remains at the heart of their journey."

1000-Lb Sisters Season 9 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC and streaming the next day on HBO Max.

Henry Winkler is known around the world as the beloved actor who brought Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli to life on Happy Days.

But before he became a household name, he spent years struggling with something he didn't understand and feeling like he wasn't living up to his family's expectations.

During a conversation with Hoda Kotb on Joy 101 with Hoda Kotb, Winkler, 80, opened up about his childhood, his parents' experiences as immigrants from Nazi Germany, and the lasting impact of growing up with undiagnosed dyslexia.

Winkler explained that his parents left everything behind when they fled Nazi Germany and worked to build a new life for their family in the United States.

"My parents came from Nazi Germany. They left everything behind. They started a new life," Winkler shared. "A new language, a job. They gave us, my sister and I, a life."

But he said the trauma his parents carried with them affected the way they viewed his struggles as a child.

"Somewhere in that journey, their psyche was beaten to a pulp," Winkler said, describing the emotional damage they experienced after surviving such a difficult time.

The actor recalled feeling like he was constantly disappointing them, especially because he struggled in school. At the time, he did not know that dyslexia was the reason learning came so differently for him.

"They had no child vision. I was supposed to be. I was bred to be. I didn't. I was an embarrassment. I didn't do well in school," he said.

Winkler also shared one of the most painful memories from his childhood: a nickname his father used when frustrated with his academic struggles.

His father, who spoke 11 languages, did not understand that dyslexia could be hereditary or that his son's challenges were not a reflection of intelligence.

Winkler said his father told him he was a "dummer hund," a German phrase that translates to "dumb dog."

For years, Winkler believed those struggles meant something was wrong with him. Without a diagnosis, he said he developed a damaged sense of self.

"I had no sense of self," Winkler has previously shared about growing up with undiagnosed dyslexia.

As an adult, Winkler learned that his difficulties in school were connected to dyslexia, a diagnosis that helped him understand himself in a new way. He has since become a passionate advocate for children with learning differences, often speaking about the importance of recognizing when a child is struggling.

During his conversation, Winkler acknowledged the sacrifices his parents made and the challenges they endured, while also reflecting on what he wishes had been different.

"I take all of the total of the achievement and the courage and the pain of my parents," he said. "What I cannot abide is what I just said."

He explained that when a child is struggling, adults should look beyond the behavior and recognize that something deeper may be happening.

"You see the child in front of you," Winkler said. "You might not be able to define the problem, you might not be able to fix the problem, but you know there's a problem, and then you act accordingly."

Today, Winkler's story is a reminder of how much can change when children receive understanding instead of judgment. The actor who once felt like he wasn't enough went on to become one of Hollywood's most enduring and admired figures while using his own experience to help others feel seen.

Jason Bateman Was Once Arrested in Monaco Rocking Leopard-Print Attire

Before Ozark practically broke the internet, one of Bateman's biggest hits was TV series Arrested Development, though it turns out he had real-life experience 'in the clink', as Michael Scott would say.

Monaco is a map-dot country bordering the French Riviera known to draw many of the world's one-percenters who don't bat an eye at exorbitant prices — and it sounds like the Emmy-winning actor had a little too much fun abroad.

Per TMZ, he was cuffed for 'being drunk and disorderly'. The most surprising aspect however is what he was wearing, seeming to take a page out of The Hangover's playbook.

He didn't wake up with a new face tattoo, but he was decked out in a "nice little leopard outfit".

With Monaco being known for its flashy casinos and opulent splurges, the next tidbit he revealed wasn't all that surprising. He told SmartLess co-hosts Sean Hayes and Will Arnett that he was caught "all banged up" after downing Champagne, with his pockets stuffed full of casino chips.

No word on how much he was banking, but the bonkers story is worth every penny.

It's reported Bateman's next project is Clue, a film adaptation of the popular Hasbro board game co-starring Ryan Reynolds.

Given that '70s soft rock bands tended to produce breezy tunes, arguably best listened to on sunny days, it's understandable that this type of music is often synonymous with the summer. For instance, the publication American Songwriter recently released a list of "3 soft rock songs that defined summer for millions of Americans in 1974."

The list, published on July 18, featured the 1974 soft rock songs Chicago's "Call Me," America's "Tin Man," and “Another Park, Another Sunday”off the Doobie Brothers' fourth album, What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits.

While "Another Park, Another Sunday" is a quintessential easy-listening song, it does depict heartbreak following the end of a romance. In an interview with Songfacts, the band's singer, Tom Johnston, was asked, "Is 'Another Park, Another Sunday' based on events that happened to [him]?" Johnston confirmed that "Yeah, that was."

"That was based on breaking up with a girlfriend. And that's basically what that was all about. Including the park and all the rest of it," continued Johnston.

In addition, Johnston said that he thinks radio stations didn't play the song, which secured the number 32 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 the year it was released, because of some of its lyrics.

"You know, that was a single, and actually got put out, and was doing real well, and then it got yanked off the radio for the line, 'And the radio just seems to bring me down,' because the song being played reminded me of the girl. But radio took it as, 'Oh, yeah? The radio brings you down, huh? Well, guess what?' – yank," said Johnston, now 77, while speaking to Songfacts.

During the interview, Johnston shared that "Another Park, Another Sunday" was among several Doobie Brothers songs that didn't take him too much effort to write. According to Johnston, "Listen To The Music" (1972), "Greenwood Creek" (1971), "Growing A Little Each Day" (1971), and "Dark Eyed Cajun Woman" (1973) also "seemed to just come naturally."

"I always feel like I'm a conduit when things like that are going on. I'm just the one putting it down on paper and playing the chords. But wherever it's coming from was out of the ethersphere somewhere," explained the musician.

D’Arcy Carde never wanted to stop talking to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and who can blame her?

The comedian and actress is best known for playing Janet in The Good Place and Greta Gill in A League of Their Own. She admitted to the insane lengths she went to keep the conversation going with Louis-Dreyfus in a recent episode of Vulture’s Good One podcast.

Carde shared that during COVID, actress Megan Mullally would host Zoom meetings for female actors.

“It was mind-blowing. It was amazing the people she would put together,” the actress recalled. “Maybe like six to eight women, and it was just like when during the lonely times of COVID.”

The online calls would usually last around two hours. Carde praised the Will & Grace actress for spearheading these meetings.

“It was really wonderful, like some of my favorite COVID life memories,” she said.

The Good One podcast host Jesse David Fox asked Carde about her time on the 2012 sitcomVeep and if she had ever met Louis-Dreyfus.

“I have had a couple of run-ins with her that have been A+. She rules; she's definitely like she's as high up as she can be for me,” the Emmy Award-nominated actress said.

Carde began hesitantly telling a story about one of the COVID Zoom calls that included the Seinfeld actress, Mullally, Lisa Kudrow, and herself.

“We’d been talking for a long time. I had to pee really bad, and I knew that if I said I had to pee it would be done,” she remembered. “It was like crazy how long we'd been talking, and it would remind them that we've been talking too long and they'd be like, ‘Oh, yeah. We should go.’”

She continued, “I'm sitting at my desk, and I have a trash can next to my desk with a plastic in it, and I just sort of did this, and I muted myself,” she said as she scooted away from her chair. “Then I moved the trash can, and I peed in the trash can, and I put it back, and I put my seat back, and I unmuted myself, and I kept, and we and they never knew until this moment.”

Fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the Big Bang Theory universe should expect something a little different. According to creator Chuck Lorre, the upcoming spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, won't follow the traditional sitcom formula—and the decision was entirely intentional.

The main thing that fans are going to notice is that the episodes are shorter than a standard sitcom. In fact, Lorre says that some of the episodes are only 15 minutes long.

"We just felt that we’d successfully told the story," Lorre explained during an interview with Deadline. "And to add would be padding, and padding, generally, is a hammock between important scenes, and why would we do that if there’s no real reason."

Per the outlet, one episode is 15-minutes long, four are 18 minutes long and the other five are somewhere between 20 and 25 minutes long for a total of 10 episodes in Season 1. Lorre doesn't seem too concerned with following the norm, however.

“The historic length of a show is entirely arbitrary, it comes from network television where a certain amount of advertising has to be sold to pay the way of making this television, but it’s not an element any longer in streaming," he said. “So, why not just make the best show we can and hope the audience is entertained and is not looking at their watch, going, ‘Oh, I need five more minutes. You need to go further with this.’ I don’t think that would happen, that’d be my guess. I would think you either loved the episode or you didn’t, and you weren’t looking at your watch."

It's been one year since Deadline confirmed that HBO had ordered a season of the spinoff, which will star some of the original cast members, including Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom), Lauren Lapkus (Denise), Brian Posehn (Bert) and Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke).

There's also the possibility that some other OG Big Bang Theory stars will make cameo appearances. Parade previously askedKaley Cuoco if she'd be interested in making an appearance on SFTSTU—and she's totally open to it.

"If Chuck calls me, I’ll be there," she said.

The highly anticipated spinoff is set to premiere on July 23 on HBO—a little more than seven years after the finale of The Big Bang Theory aired on CBS.

What Is the ‘Dark Showering’ Trend?

Dark showering is exactly what it sounds like: showering in the dark or in a dimly lit setting, typically right before bed. This relaxing wind-down ritual is making waves on TikTok, with users swapping harsh bathroom lights for candles or red light lamps to set a calming scene. Overall, it looks like a soothing way to end a hectic workday.

“The idea is to reduce sensory input and create a relaxing environment that prepares the body for sleep,” explains Laura Bojarskaite, Ph.D., neuroscientist and sleep researcher at the University of Oslo, who studies the biology of sleep, brain recovery and circadian rhythms. “From a neuroscience perspective, this is essentially an attempt to strengthen the brain’s normal transition from wakefulness toward sleep.”

Does Dark Showering Actually Help You Sleep?

Does taking a pitch-black shower before hitting the sheets actually help you sleep, or is it just another overhyped TikTok wellness trend? I spoke with experts to find out the scoop and they told me that dark showering can improve sleep indirectly by making relaxation more seamless. According to Dr. Kendra Becker, MD, sleep medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California, indulging in a warm shower causes your core body temperature to naturally drop afterward, which is a key trigger for sleepiness.

“Adding this to darkness signals the brain to secrete melatonin. Eliminating bright lights—especially blue light—right before bed is a highly effective way to signal to your brain that it is time to wind down for sleep,” Dr. Becker explains.

Essentially, this nighttime habit combines several elements that can support relaxation, including warm water, dim lighting, reduced sensory stimulation and mindfully transitioning away from blue light devices and the chaos of the day.

The Benefits: Reducing Sensory Overload and Anxiety

One major benefit of eliminating bright bathroom and bedroom lighting before sleep is that it can reduce sensory overload, helping to calm mind chatter.

As time passes, making this practice a regular nighttime ritual establishes “a strong psychological cue,” Dr. Becker says. In other words, it tells your body to prepare for deep rest the moment you slip into bed.

“From a neuroscience perspective, dark showering is plausible as a relaxation ritual—not because darkness has special powers, but because it may reduce evening stimulation, minimize unnecessary light exposure, reinforce a consistent bedtime routine and encourage people to slow down before sleep,” adds Bojarskaite.

My Experience: I Tried Showering in the Dark for Two WeeksDark showering made me more relaxed

I love my daily shower time—in fact, I genuinely look forward to it. In addition, restful sleep is inconsistent for me. So, it should come as no surprise that I was eager to try this trend.

Each night for two weeks, I added dark showering to my bedtime routine—and by “dark,” I mean I lit my favorite scented coastal candle and took a warm shower in my candlelit bathroom. I despise harsh lighting in general, and my home is filled with mood lighting—from lamps to candles to lanterns. Even when I’m relaxing in bed at night, I always choose my lamp over the ceiling light.

And the experts were right—I felt incredibly relaxed while dark showering. There’s something so calming about washing away the worries and stress of the day in a dimly lit bathroom, buttering up in my favorite lotion afterwards and slipping into a cozy pajama set before drifting off to dreamland.

I slept better

Since I’m somewhat of a terrible sleeper, I sleep with green noise to drown out any sounds because even the smallest disturbance will wake me up in the middle of the night. Once I’m awake, I usually have trouble falling back asleep. The struggle is real, so I’m always looking for tips and tricks I can try before bed that will hopefully turn me into a better sleeper. Dark showering certainly seems to make a difference—and my sleep stats don’t lie.

I wear a Fitbit to easily track my sleep score and see where there might be room for improvement. During my two-week dark showering test, my sleep scores ranged anywhere from 84 (“good”) to 90 (“excellent”). To give you an example, one Sunday morning, I woke up to my Fitbit sharing, “That 10-hour sleep was a serious recovery win,” and my overall sleep score was a 90. Most of that night was spent in the deep and REM stages, which support muscle recovery and mental sharpness.

I also found myself sleeping more soundly and waking up less during the night. I usually wake up two to three times a night, but once I introduced dark showering, I only woke up once—or not at all.

It helped me establish a mindful new bedtime ritual

Since I was on a roll with dark showering, this new habit encouraged other healthy habits in my nighttime routine. I was genuinely curious to see if it would work, so I found myself watching less TV at night and grabbing a book instead. I also started closing my laptop earlier rather than working until 7:30 or 8 p.m. and did some light stretching while streaming calming sounds on Spotify.

Now, this collective ritual has become a staple in my bedtime routine. I use the end of the day to completely relax my mind and body to support a better night’s rest.

Is It Dangerous? How to Dark Shower Safely

In order to safely engage in this trend and reap its benefits, there are some things to keep in mind. For one, experts caution against showering in complete darkness. Instead, consider lighting a candle and placing it safely out of reach so you have some visibility in order not to fall.

Dr. Becker also stresses, “Older adults and individuals with preexisting vision or balance impairments should take extra precautions or avoid total darkness altogether. Of course, a wet surface in the dark significantly increases the risk of slips and falls.”

In addition, make sure you’re properly hydrated, as hot water can dilate the blood vessels, leading to sudden dizziness.

People are always seeking new ways to lower stress without investing in yet another pricey gadget or supplement. More than five decades after its formation, Saxon is showing no signs of slowing down.

The legendary British heavy metal band has announced that its 25th studio album, Gods Of Thunder, will arrive on Jan. 22, 2027 via Silver Lining Music. The reveal comes months after frontman Biff Byford confirmed the release date, while guitarist Brian Tatler recently unveiled the album's title during an interview at the Maid of Stone festival.

Fans won't have to wait until 2027 to hear new music.

According to Byford, the album's first single and accompanying music video will arrive in September, with pre-orders opening around the same time. The record has already been completed and was once again mixed by longtime collaborator Andy Sneap, who has produced or co-produced every Saxon studio album since Sacrifice in 2013.

While the band has remained tight-lipped about the songs themselves, Byford recently offered a glimpse of what listeners can expect.

Speaking to Louder, he described the new material simply as "heavier, more than anything," noting that guitarist Brian Tatler played a significant role in shaping the record alongside Doug Scarratt.

Gods Of Thunder follows 2024's Hell, Fire And Damnation, which was widely praised by critics and fans as one of the strongest releases of the band's later career. The new album also marks another milestone for Tatler, the Diamond Head guitarist who officially joined Saxon following Paul Quinn's retirement from touring and has now become an integral part of the band’s songwriting team.

Formed in 1976 in Barnsley, England, Saxon emerged as one of the defining bands of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal alongside Iron Maiden and Def Leppard. Albums such as Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law, Denim and Leather, and Power & the Glory helped establish the group as one of heavy metal's most enduring acts, while classics like "747 (Strangers in the Night)," "Princess of the Night," and "Motorcycle Man" remain staples of the genre.

The album announcement comes during a particularly active period for the band. Saxon recently unveiled the Gods Of Thunder U.K. and Ireland tour for February 2027, which will see the return of the band's iconic mechanized Eagle stage prop for the first time in years.

"We wanted to make the Gods Of Thunder U.K. and Ireland tour extra special," Byron said in a statement. "And what better way than to fly our beloved Saxon Eagle again… Get ready for take-off!"

Additional international dates are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Fifty-one years after first taking the stage, Saxon continues to prove why it remains one of heavy metal's most enduring institutions. With a new album, a world tour, and another chapter just around the corner, the British legends are showing that their creative fire is still burning strong.

Created in collaboration with Graceland, the photo collection opens the Graceland Archives for an in-depth exploration of Presley's legendary stagewear. Featuring more than 150 pieces from across his career, the collection showcases everything from his early tailored suits of the 1950s to the dazzling jeweled jumpsuits that became synonymous with his Las Vegas years.

Among the highlights are several of Elvis' most recognizable looks, including the iconic gold lamé suit that helped establish his early image, the black leather outfit worn during his celebrated 1968 Comeback Special, and the final jumpsuit he wore onstage before his last concert in Indianapolis in 1977.

The book also includes original designer sketches by longtime costume designer Bill Belew, rare archival photography and new images documenting the craftsmanship behind each garment.

One especially fascinating section explores Elvis' famous "Dude Suits," a collection of white gabardine outfits that became staples of his concert wardrobe during the 1970s.

Although the suits appear nearly identical at first glance, each was distinguished by a different accent color: black, blue, green or red. Leather details highlighted the pocket flaps, buttons, pleats and trouser accents, while each cape featured a coordinating lining. According to the Graceland Archives, the black-accented version was especially unique, featuring a paisley-lined cape instead of a solid-colored interior.

The costumes weren't originally designed with matching belts, but Presley often personalized the outfits by pairing them with belts borrowed from other stage ensembles, creating distinctive combinations throughout his concert tours.

Arguably, audiences often have a preference for action films that offer a fun viewing experience. Collider recently showcased some of the less serious but still beloved movies in the action genre by releasing a ranking of "the 10 most fun action movies of all time."

The list, published on July 20, included thrilling and somewhat silly films such as 1991's Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, 2022's Hundreds of Beavers, and John Wick: Chapter 4 from 2023. According to Collider, the "most fun action movie" ever made is the 1980 comedy, The Blues Brothers, starring legendary Saturday Night Live alums, Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi, who died in 1982 when he was 33, as brothers, "Joliet" Jake Blues and Elwood J. Blues.

The Blues Brothers has a score of 72 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dan Aykroyd Doesn't Think 'The Blues Brothers' Would Be Greenlit Today

In a May 2026 interview with Adam Carolla, Aykroyd, who co-wrote the film with its director, John Landis, said The Blues Brothers would not have been greenlit in the modern day. He explained that film studios wouldn't be interested in a movie, based on Aykroyd and Belushi's SNL characters, about a blues band trying to help a Catholic orphanage with plenty of practical effects.

"You'd never make it today. They would say, 'Excuse me. What? Catholic? What? Wait a minute. Hold on. Wrecking so many cars? And what? Well, you know, practically no CGI. I don't know.' No, they wouldn't. They wouldn't do it," said Aykroyd during the 2026 interview.

While speaking to Carolla, Aykroyd discussed an iconic scene from the film where Jake and Elwood start dancing alongside Mrs. Murphy, played by Aretha Franklin, as she belts out her classic "Respect." Aykroyd suggested he was starstruck by Franklin, who died in 2018 at the age of 76. He said that he "was paralyzed watching her do her dance," before he was able to nail the choreography.

"I didn't think I would be able to get off the [stool]. I thought my knees would buckle. And John moved, and I overcame it, and then we did it. But I was awed by her talent. And it paralyzed me in that moment," said Aykroyd, now 74.

Did Heather Locklear Know She Saved Melrose Place?

In a recent spread with the other lovely ladies of Melrose Place featured in PEOPLE, Locklear’s former co-stars lamented that she was the force that saved the show from cancellation.

“I did not know that,” said Locklear, who admitted that at the time, she was just looking for work as an actor.

“I wasn’t saving it, I just wanted a job,” she shared.

As for when Locklear realized the show was a runaway hit, there was one key moment.

“I think once we did the Rolling Stone cover,  I went, ‘This is awesome,'” she noted.

Back in June, PEOPLE shared that Ava graduated from the USC Rossier School of Education in May 2023 with a Master’s in family therapy, and was recently accepted to Pepperdine University, where she will begin working toward her doctorate in the fall.

“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Angie Katsanevas and her husband Shawn Trujillo have separated after 27 years of marriage, Page Six reports.

Multiple sources told the outlet that Katsanevas and Trujillo are "no longer together romantically." Page Six further added that representatives for the two have not responded to the outlet's request for comments.

This comes after much speculation that the two were no longer together, with fans noting that Katsanevas did not post on Instagram last month to mark the couple's 27th wedding anniversary. The year prior, in 2025, she posted several photos of them together.

"A Hair Affair🤍🤍🤍 #26YEARS Seems like yesterday I booked an appointment for a blowdry with this dreamy guy I saw on the cover of a romance novel in the grocery store checkout. Long hair like Fabio, big muscles, and known to be lethal with scissors," she captioned the post for their 26th wedding anniversary. "The rest is HAIRstory❤️"

Season 4 of Bravo's hit show “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” also showed Katsanevas dealing with the numerous rumors being spread that Trujillo was cheating on her with several men.

They both denied the rumors, with Trujillo addressing it during an October 2023 episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”

“For me, it’s not a gay-straight thing; it’s an infidelity thing,” he said. "“We love our gay community. We’ve been embedded in it for 30 years now just based on what we do for our business. “But I’m here to support Angie, and I’ll take the hits.”

Season 7 has already been filmed, but it's unknown at this time if their seperation will be featured. The two also appeared on “Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition” in October 2025.

Katsanevas and Trujillo married in June 1999 and share a 15-year-old daughter named Elektra.

Returning to the Games for the first time since 2020 is baseball, and one red-hot MLB star expected to compete is Shohei Ohtani.

The two-way sensation currently plays for the LA Dodgers and would presumably play for Japan in the Olympics. With Japanese his native dialect, he has spoken little English publicly in the U.S. — in fact, when the Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, that was the first time he spoke English to his fans — without an interpreter's assistance...

Latoya Malcolm, a former Miss Universe Jamaica contestant who competed in 2024, has died at the age of 35.

The organization announced the news on Instagram on Saturday, July 18.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Universe Jamaica alumna LaToya Malcolm, who proudly competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica Competition,” the Miss Universe Jamaica organization wrote in a statement. "Our heartfelt condolences are with her family, friends, and loved ones. Rest peacefully, LaToya. You will never be forgotten."

In 2024, Malcolm took home the title of Miss Jamaica Bikini International, having competed while mourning the death of her father.

"I woke up like this! More like I woke up to this! Check out today’s issue of the @jamaicaobserver with my feature as the winner of the @msjambikini_intl Miss Jamaica Bikini International 2024 Competition. Congratulations to the top 6 finalists and the other ladies who competed. Well done!," Malcolm shared on Instagram with a photo of the news clipping in August 2024. "My beloved father, Mr. Malcolm, this win was for you. Your one and only daughter continues to make you proud. I know you’re smiling down on me from heaven 🕊️💙"

Many left comments, paying tribute to Malcolm, including the current Miss Universe Jamaica titleholder Gabrielle Henry.

“After many years of experiencing loss and hardship, I’ve learnt the deep relevance of pausing and reflecting on the lives of those who lived fully, unapologetically and with great passion. To hear of Laloya’s passing is a great loss to her family and the wider community, Jamaica, her impact will always be remembered and her voice will not be forgotten. Wishing her family my deepest condolences. May she rest in peace,” Henry wrote on Instagram.

"Heart felt prayers to her family! She was an absolutely beautiful young lady! Very heartbreaking! 💔 ❤️🙏🏼," one person commented.

"RIP Latoya 🕊️..... I'm literally speechless 💔," another person posted.
