Country Star Earns Third Straight No. 1 Hit Amid 2026 Tour

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 11:12pm

Rising country star Tucker Wetmore has reached another major milestone in his fast-growing career. His hit single “Brunette” climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart dated May 30, giving the singer his third straight chart-topping radio hit while he prepares for an expanded 2026 North American tour.

According to The Country Wire, Wetmore is now the 23rd artist in history to see his first three singles all reach No. 1 status. The achievement places him alongside country acts such as Brooks & Dunn, Luke Combs and Florida Georgia Line.

Billboard reported that “Brunette” moved up two spots to claim the top position after earning 30.8 million audience impressions between May 15 and May 21. The song’s audience increased by 11% during that week.

Written by Chris LaCorte, Coop McGill, Josh Miller and Blake Pendergrass, “Brunette” reached No. 1 during its 23rd week on Country Airplay. Billboard noted that the climb was faster than many recent country radio hits, which often take close to 30 weeks to reach the top.

The success comes shortly after Wetmore performed “Brunette” at the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 17, where he also won New Male Artist of the Year.

“Brunette” marks Wetmore’s third major radio breakthrough following “Wind Up Missin’ You” and “3,2,1.” Both songs previously climbed near the top of the Country Airplay chart, helping establish Wetmore as one of country music’s fastest-rising young artists.

Country radio programmers praised the song’s quick connection with listeners.

“For Scott Roddy, brand manager of Audacy’s KSON San Diego, early belief in ‘Brunette’ began outside the station. ‘It started when I saw the crowd’s reaction to ‘Brunette’ at two different concerts,’ he tells Billboard. ‘Then I saw the streams and immediately jumped on the opportunity.’”

Tim Roberts, Audacy country format captain and programming leader for WYCD Detroit, also shared why the track stood out.

“We had Tucker here on our WYCD Hoedown Festival show when he was brand new, so we could see how the audience was loving him from the beginning,” Roberts said. “And like Scotty, the immediate streaming data on the song was proof positive they were gonna eat it up! Besides, a tempo record less than three minutes is a gem.”

Meanwhile, J. Love, operations manager for KBAY San Jose, said the song connected quickly with listeners in California.

“The record connected instantly with our audience,” he said. “Honestly, my wife sings it every single time it comes on.”

Billboard also reported that “Brunette” has generated 203.1 million official on-demand streams in the United States. Overall, Wetmore’s music catalog has now passed 1.7 billion streams.

Wetmore’s growing popularity has also helped his debut album What Not To, released in April 2025 through Back Blocks Music and UMG Nashville. The album reached No. 4 on the U.S. Country chart and earned Gold certification.

So, as she celebrates 82 years, how about we take a closer look at the woman behind the music and the enduring impact of one of soul’s greatest voices? Starting with her rise during the Motown era.

Originally formed in Atlanta in 1952, The Pips were a family band featuring Knight, her brother “Bubba,” sisterBrenda, and cousins William and EleanorGuest. Following a lineup shift and name change, Gladys Knight & The Pips broke through in 1961 with the soul ballad “Every Beat of My Heart,” and she’s delivered hit after hit ever since.

From timeless soul classics to emotionally charged soul anthems, Knight’s gospel-driven sound and unmistakable vocal style have become a beacon of the golden era of R&B and pop. Fan-favorite Gladys Knight & The Pips hits include 1967’s “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” 1970’s “If I Were Your Woman,” and 1973’s “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

In 1989, following the release of All Our Loveand a successful tour, Knight and The Pips disbanded, allowing the legendary frontwoman to embark on a solo career that continues to this day. Oh, yes, Miss Gladys is still performing. Solo standouts that still receive heavy rotation include 1989’s “Licence to Kill,” 1987’s “Love Overboard,” and 1985’s “That’s What Friends Are For.”

One of the most decorated musicians of her era, Knight has earned seven Grammy Awards, along with honors ranging from Lifetime Achievement Awards to Kennedy Center Honors. Not to mention she earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1995, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a year later, and was bestowed her "Empress of Soul" title from the Society of Singers in 2007.

Today, the empress’ voice still resonates across generations, living on through pop culture and younger artists inspired by her contributions to music.

She has also maintained a notable acting career, appearing in films such as Pipe Dreams (1976), I Can Do Bad All by Myself (2009), and Coming 2 America (2021). Guest appearances on the small screen include stints on The Jeffersons, Living Single, and 30 Rock.

A voice this timeless doesn’t fade. It only deepens with time. Have a wonderful birthday!

Now that we’re in the midst of spring and slowly transitioning to summer weather, you might find yourself spending more time in your yard. If you want to transform your home’s outdoor space into a dreamy getaway, you don’t have to go all out with new fixtures and furniture pieces. Sometimes, decor can just as easily elevate the aesthetic and ambiance of a space, like this Pasamic 2-in-1 Solar Lantern Planter at Amazon.

There’s no better time than right now to snag this solar light planter because it’s currently on sale for a whopping 40% off! It normally retails for $50, but you can score it now for just $30. There’s truly nothing like a two-in-one product to make you feel like you got more bang for your buck.

The base of this piece is fixed with a square planter that measures 11 inches wide and long. It offers plenty of room to pot vibrant and colorful flowers and plants to bring your outdoor space to life. The bottom of the planter is fixed with a drainage hole, allowing water to flow through to prevent waterlogged soil. Alternatively, if you prefer a low-maintenance option so you don’t have to deal with watering, many shoppers noted that they used artificial flowers instead!

Fully lending itself to the vintage-inspired aesthetic, the lantern has a sleek traditional silhouette with a pyramid-like roof. The interior is fixed with an Edison lightbulb that hangs from the roof. The lantern is connected to the base by a sturdy pole and an ornate metal scrollwork arm, adding even more of a vintage feel.

The Edison bulb radiates a warm white light that’ll instantly elevate the ambiance of your backyard or porch and make it feel cozy and inviting. Several reviewers raved about how bright the light is and how well it has worked to illuminate the surrounding areas.

Sustainable and environmentally friendly, this light doesn’t require any electricity or batteries. Fixed with four solar panels on top, it’ll draw energy from the sun — just be sure that it’s in direct sunlight for six to eight hours. Once it gets dark outside, the light will automatically turn on and illuminate your space for up to 10 hours. On those cloudy and rainy days when the lantern doesn’t receive ample sunlight, the light may still shine at night, as the solar panels store extra energy. Shoppers attested to this, mentioning that their light still turns on at night even after an overcast day!

“It gives my front and back porch that cozy, elevated look and lights up beautifully at night,” one reviewer raved, explaining that “it adds such a welcoming vibe to any outdoor space.” A second shopper described it as “absolutely gorgeous” and said that they “plant real flowers during the growing season and replace them with silk florals or seasonal decor” when needed.

The lampshade is made of glass, while the rest of the piece is made of weather-resistant thermoplastic. Reviewers noted that the planter and lamp are very sturdy and durable. With an IP44 waterproof rating, the lantern is built to withstand rain and snow, so you’ll be able to leave it outside year-round.

Measuring 28.5 inches tall, this solar lantern planter will stand out where you place it. Thanks to the flat base, you can leave it freestanding on your porch, patio, or in your garden. However, with the included tools, you can mount it to a wall, tree, or fence if you want to suspend it. If you’re looking for inspiration on where to set it up or what to plant in it, check out these stunning images that reviewers shared!

'The Good Doctor' Fan Favorite Turns 71

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 10:35pm

Richard Schiff, the award-winning actor behind the beloved character in The Good Doctor, marks a special personal milestone as he turns 71.

Born on May 27, 1955, the Maryland native is widely celebrated in Hollywood as one of the outstanding veteran actors whose versatility has helped set him apart across film and television.

Schiff began his love for acting in the mid-1980s, despite his intense fear of being in front of the public.

From working behind the camera, he first appeared on TV in the mid-1980s after joining the cast of Tales from the Crypt, season 2 episode 13.

Although he only played a minor role, this was followed by his first movie appearance, making the 1988 film Medium Straight his big-screen debut.

Interestingly, his breakthrough came in the late 1990s when he caught the attention of the renowned director Steven Spielberg.

At the time, he had a guest role in the 1996 cop drama High Incident, but his portrayal of the character drew Spielberg, who handpicked him for the movie The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which launched him into the mainstream and later into Hollywood success.

From the pivotal role of Eddie Carr in the 1997 film, he starred in The West Wing as part of the core ensemble, where he took on the character of Toby Ziegler, a cynical yet deeply principled White House Communications Director.

The performance marked his first major award after taking home the 2000 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

After the show’s seven-year run, Schiff transitioned into yet another iconic role after joining The Good Doctor.

Portraying Dr. Aaron Glassman, the brilliant surgeon and the President of San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital, his character became one of the fan favorites for its warmth and striking mentorship of Shaun Murphy.

Despite delivering a remarkable and impactful character, Schiff admitted that the medical drama genre was not his preferred genre because of one meaningful detail.

“To be perfectly frank, it’s not my style of show,” he told Gold Derby. “I try to avoid hospitals. I spent the first couple of years of my life in a hospital, so I think there’s some deeply rooted psychology there. I don’t like to watch sick people very much. And you can fall into a procedural trap. Anything can fall into a trap.”

Moreover, he shared how he tried to elevate his performance and wanted to give the audience the “highest” possible level of emotional and artistic quality.

“On ‘The West Wing’ you can fall into the trap of Aaron Sorkin, and just ride the wave of clever words,” the actor furthered. “It’s always a matter of trying to find the highest point near the ceiling of perfection. It’s an impossible task, but it’s what I strive for. I like to feel like I’m flying when I’m acting. So elevate is a good word for that.”

At 71, Schiff continues to leave viewers in awe with his performances, proving that true talent becomes more compelling with time.

Nordstrom Rack’s 'Cute' and 'Comfortable' $25 Jelly Sandals Are a Nostalgic Trend Making a Summertime Comeback

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 10:01pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

You know what they say — what goes around comes around. And nowhere is that more obvious than in fashion, where trends from the ’90s keep finding their way back into rotation. We’re seeing it in platform sandals, capri pants, and even the return of translucent textures that defined the era. At the forefront of that comeback? Jelly sandals — but not the ones you remember from childhood.

These updated versions look a lot more refined, blending that same playful, translucent design with more wearable shapes and colors. Want to tap into the trend without splurging? Right now, Nordstrom Rack has the MIA Sophie Clear Woven Mule on sale for $25, down from the usual $35 price.

Dubbed by shoppers as “cute” and “comfortable,” these mule flats tap straight into that retro jelly-sandal look, but with a 21st-century glow-up. The woven cage upper is the star here, with glossy crisscross straps that create that classic open, lattice look you probably remember, just more sophisticated. It gives off that slightly translucent, throwback feel without looking overly plastic or costume-y.

The shoe's shape leans modern, too, blending a fisherman sandal vibe with an easy backless mule silhouette that you can just slip on and go. Inside, there’s a cushioned cork footbed for comfort, plus a textured outsole for grip on all terrains.

Styling-wise, these sandals are surprisingly versatile for something so trend-forward. They work just as well with loose linen pants and relaxed jeans as they do with breezy sundresses, and they instantly elevate even the simplest outfits — think a tee with denim cutoffs or a classic T-shirt dress.

The woven texture also opens the door to some fun styling moments. You can lean into it with other natural textures, like a raffia handbag or a straw hat, or play up the throwback feel with translucent accessories like a jelly bag or a lucite bracelet. These shoes also hit that sweet spot between sandal and flat, so you get airflow without fully committing to open-toe.

They come in a range of color options, with seven shades spanning everything from wearable neutrals to soft pastels, brighter pops of color, and even a fully clear version. Whether you prefer to keep your look understated or lean all the way into the throwback vibe, there’s an option to match. Sizes run in whole numbers from 6 through 10, and the brand recommends sizing up if you’re between sizes for the most comfortable fit.

The guy, who was not tagged in the post, wore a dark cap, a black shirt, and glasses. He also sported a beard and silver necklaces while holding a bouquet of flowers. Behind them was a lit-up message in giant block letters alongside purple balloons.

Following a similar second photo, a different shot showed Thore and the man posing outside together. Meanwhile, the last photo in the carousel featured the man sitting on a couch while massaging what seemed to be Whitney's foot.

1971 Rock Classic, Originally a Radio Breakthrough, Became Band's Biggest Hit in United States

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 9:25pm

In 1971, Badfinger released a soaring rock ballad that would become the band's biggest hit in the United States.

"Day After Day" helped transform the group from rising rock act into international stars and remains one of the most beloved songs of the early 1970s.

Released during a breakthrough period for the band, the song showcased Badfinger's signature blend of emotional songwriting, rich harmonies and melodic guitar-driven rock that would later help define the power pop genre.

Written by band members Pete Ham and Tom Evans, "Day After Day" balanced heartbreak and optimism with an instantly memorable melody that connected strongly with radio audiences.

The song also benefited from major musical support behind the scenes.

Produced by George Harrison of The Beatles, the recording featured Harrison contributing slide guitar while fellow Beatle Leon Russell added piano. That connection to Apple Records and The Beatles helped raise the band's profile during a crucial stage of their career.

"[Harrison] even came in and asked us, 'Is it OK if I do a little slide on your record?'" singer and guitarist, Joey Molland, told Guitar World. He didn't just do it or demand it; he wanted to make sure it was what we wanted. I had a '63 Strat, and that’s what he used. He sounded great. He was one of the best slide players ever. We were thrilled at what he did."

"Day After Day" quickly became a radio breakthrough thanks to its emotional sincerity and polished sound, eventually becoming Badfinger's highest-charting hit in the United States.

"We couldn't do 'Day After Day' anything like the record," Molland told Something Else! "We ended up not doing it on stage, or only once in a while. On 'Day After Day,' for instance, there were four acoustic guitars playing, and six backing vocals. There were two slide guitars, even. And there was a piano — and we didn't have a pianist. It got to be impossible to play, so we'd do other ones. The crowds never said anything to us. I'm sure some people would miss it, but that we just couldn't do it."

At the time, the song stood out because it combined the melodic sophistication associated with late Beatles-era pop music with the more intimate, emotional songwriting emerging in the early 1970s singer-songwriter movement. The track's success also helped cement Badfinger as one of the era's most respected melodic rock bands, even though the group would later endure devastating financial struggles and personal tragedies that overshadowed much of its legacy.

Still, songs like "Day After Day" continued to endure because of their timeless craftsmanship and emotional honesty.

Over the decades, the song became a staple of classic rock and soft rock playlists while influencing generations of artists drawn to melodic guitar pop and harmony-rich songwriting.

More than 50 years later, "Day After Day" remains one of Badfinger's defining achievements, a radio breakthrough that captured the beauty and melancholy that made the band so unforgettable.

1975 Rock Song, Lasting Nearly 9 Minutes, Became an Overshadowed Classic

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:39pm

In 1975, Led Zeppelin released an ambitious, nearly nine-minute epic that would quietly become one of the most beloved deep cuts in the band's catalog.

"In the Light," featured on the double album Physical Graffiti, never became one of the group's massive radio hits, but over time, it evolved into a classic admired by devoted fans for its scale, atmosphere and emotional intensity.

Built around haunting keyboards, thunderous drums and one of the band's most dramatic arrangements, the song showcased Led Zeppelin at its most expansive and experimental.

The track opens with an eerie synthesizer-driven introduction created by bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, immediately setting a darker and more mystical tone than many of the band's more straightforward hard rock songs. As the song unfolds, Robert Plant delivers some of his most emotionally searching lyrics, while guitarist Jimmy Page and drummer John Bonham gradually build the track into a massive, almost spiritual crescendo.

"I had no idea at the time that John Paul Jones was going to come up with such an amazing synthesizer intro, plus there's all the bowed guitars at the beginning as well, to give the overall drone effect," Plant told BBC. "We did quite a few things with drones on, like 'In The Evening' and all that, but when he did that start for 'In The Light', it was just unbelievable."

At nearly nine minutes long, "In the Light" reflected the freedom rock bands embraced during the mid-1970s album era, when radio stations and ambitious studio albums allowed musicians to create sprawling compositions unconcerned with pop radio formats.

Still, the song was somewhat overshadowed by many of Led Zeppelin's more famous classics, including "Stairway to Heaven," "Kashmir" and "Whole Lotta Love."

Despite that, "In the Light" gradually developed a reputation as one of the band's most underrated achievements. Fans especially embraced the song for its hypnotic atmosphere and emotional depth, qualities that helped distinguish it from Led Zeppelin's heavier blues-rock material.

The track also became notable because the band never performed it live in full during their original touring years, adding to its mystique among longtime listeners. The song was simply too difficult to play live, from a technological perspective, at the time the album was released.

"Further on down the road, maybe on the '77 tour, we could have done it," Page told Rolling Stone. "Maybe we should have played it at the O2, because I know that the keyboards of today are more complete. But the song didn't come into the equation; we never even took it on."

More than 50 years later, "In the Light" remains an overshadowed classic, one of those rare deep cuts that proves Led Zeppelin's catalog extended far beyond the songs most often heard on classic rock radio.

1968 Folk Rock Classic, Ranked Among 'Greatest Songs of All Time,' Took 2 Years to Write

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:38pm

Some of the biggest hits in rock history were written in astonishingly short amounts of time. Warren Zevon's "Werewolves of London" was penned in just 15 minutes; Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" took only 10 minutes to write. Other classic tunes, however, were much longer in the making...like the iconic '60s track "Alone Again Or" by the highly influential psychedelic rock band Love.

Band member Bryan MacLean originally started writing "Alone Again Or" for Love's debut album, but he didn't end up finishing the track until the band was recording their third studio album, Forever Changes, during the summer of 1967, according to the 2001 book Arthur Lee: Alone Again Or.

As music journalist Andrew Hickey reported in his critically acclaimed 500 Songs podcast, what began as a folk song turned into something more layered and complex.

“Bryan started ‘Alone Again Or’ as another one of his folk songs," guitarist Johnny Ecols said later.

"I started playing flamenco licks and flourishes in rehearsal, and it went from being a folk song to a Spanish-influenced song," he continued. "We changed the cadence of it. I was just noodling around, trying to find different things that would complement what Bryan was doing. I would always rearrange Bryan’s songs, trying to add something so as to pull them away from sounding like show tunes. It had that Spanish feel, to me. There were probably two or three overdubs of mine where I’m playing inside the chords of that song.”

Tensions arose in the studio during the recording of "Alone Again Or" when it was decided that MacLean's vocals were too "weak" and fellow band member Arthur Lee's vocals were raised in the mix, making his harmony the lead. Though he later accepted this decision, MacLean was furious at the time. Lee, for his part, wasn't happy with how the intro of "Alone Again Or" faded in. MacLean was more than pleased with the string arrangement on the song, however, later calling it "the happiest I ever was with anything we ever did as a band."

No matter how the members of Love felt about "Alone Again Or," the song — released as a single in January 1968 — went on to become not only one of their most famous tunes, but one of the most beloved classics of the era.

Included in both Rolling Stone and NME's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" lists, the song has also been featured in multiple TV shows and movies, including Bottle Rocket, Sleepers, and Russian Doll, and has been covered by such bands and artists as The Damned, Sarah Brightman, Calexico, and Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Announces Major Personal News

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:30pm

Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Kennedy Hannan has officially tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend, Nolan Ruff. The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram post on Monday, just days after their wedding ceremony in Iowa.

“The Ruffs 🤍,” the couple wrote in the caption alongside two wedding portraits.

Hannan also changed her last name to Ruff following the ceremony. She later reposted the wedding announcement on her Instagram Stories and wrote, “The best day of our lives. I will never get over how perfect it was.”

The wedding took place on Saturday at The Midnight Gem in Swisher, Iowa. Friends, family members and several fellow Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders attended the celebration.

For the ceremony, Ruff wore a black suit with a white rose boutonniere. Hannan wore a classic white ball gown with a square neckline while holding a bouquet of white flowers. Wedding photos showed the newlyweds posing outdoors beside floral arrangements with blue and white details.

Many current and former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders congratulated the couple in the comments section of the announcement post.

Marissa Leschber called it “The perfect day 🥹🩵,” while McKenna Gehrke wrote, “crying all over again😭.”

Reece Weaver, Allison Khong, Anna Kate Sundvold, Kayla Hayes, Julissa Garcia, Michelle Siemienowski, Ariel Brumfield, Kleine Powell, Sophia Laufer and several others also shared supportive messages for the newlyweds.

The wedding reception also included one famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders tradition. Members of the squad performed their well-known “Thunderstruck” dance using silver pom-poms during the reception.

“SO much fun!!! You’re glowing Kennedy Ruff 😍🥹 Love this tradition so much 💙💙,” bridesmaid and fellow cheerleader Karley Swindel commented on a video shared online.

Hannan and Ruff’s relationship began nearly a decade ago. According to the couple’s wedding website, the two first connected through Snapchat in August 2016 after a mutual high school friend told Ruff that Hannan thought he was “cute.” They officially became boyfriend and girlfriend in October 2016.

After almost eight years together, Ruff proposed on Sept. 8, 2024.

The wedding news comes during a major year for Hannan and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders organization.

Hannan has appeared on Netflix’s hit series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, which follows the famous NFL cheerleading squad through auditions, rehearsals and performances.

Netflix recently confirmed that the series will return for a third season on June 16. The new season will continue following the team during the 2025–2026 NFL season, including the pressure-filled audition process where only six roster spots are available.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have also remained in the spotlight after reports revealed the squad secured a major pay increase for the 2025 season. Team members said they received an approximately 400% raise after years of discussions surrounding compensation.

Outside of football season, Hannan has continued sharing parts of her personal life online. Earlier this month, she joined friends for a beachside bachelorette celebration in Florida, where she posted photos from the trip on Instagram.

When approaching a backyard transformation, most people focus on how things look — furniture arranged just right, plants potted perfectly, lighting dialed in. But even when everything comes together visually, it can still feel a little flat. That’s because what’s missing isn’t another object — it's wildlife. Hummingbirds, in particular, are a favorite of outdoor enthusiasts.

To bring in these tiny iridescent visitors, you need something that catches their attention and appetites, like the Natures Way Antique Crimson Carnation Nectar Hummingbird Gravity Feeder at Chewy. This hummingbird feeder has a beautifully vintage-inspired look that feels decorative and durable enough to leave out year-round. The intricate glass nectar reservoir features embossed fluting and dot detailing and a curved silhouette that gives it an heirloom-style, antique aesthetic, while the four flexible flower-shaped feeding ports add a whimsical botanical touch.

Because the reservoir is transparent, you can easily monitor nectar levels at a glance and immediately tell when it’s time for a refill. The see-through glass also catches natural sunlight beautifully outdoors, giving the feeder an almost stained-glass effect when hanging from a shepherd's hook in a garden or off a porch, a deck, a balcony, or a patio railing.

It holds up to 22 ounces of nectar, so you’re not constantly refilling it, and the naturally bee-resistant design helps keep the elixir reserved for your intended guests. When it’s time for a refresh, the detachable ports and two-part base make cleaning way less of a chore between feedings. It’s also built to handle the elements, with a sturdy glass reservoir, UV-stabilized plastic components, and a stainless steel hanger that can stand up to sun, heat, and whatever else the forecast throws your way.

9 Most-Requested Discontinued Fragrances, According to a Perfume Expert

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:25pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Have you ever fallen for a beauty product, stayed loyal to it for years and then felt completely crushed when the brand stopped making it? It's a true bummer, we know. Oftentimes, you can find something relatively similar to fill the hole that's left in your heart by the sudden departure of your go-to item. But with fragrances, it can be especially hard to find something that feels quite the same as your previous signature scent.

For this reason, Parade was curious to know more about the most-requested discontinued fragrances. To get some answers, we consulted a few perfume experts who have been embedded in the beauty world long enough to notice a few trends with consumers who covet certain discontinued perfumes.

We spoke with Walter Johnsen, the vice president of product development of Interparfums, Inc., and Sue Phillips, the founder of Scenterprises Inc., and asked them why so many popular fragrances are discontinued in the first place. Plus, Phillips, the author of The Power of Perfume, reveals nine of the most common out-of-production scents that fans are still daydreaming about today.

And if you find yourself missing fragrances of yesteryear, we also have their tips for finding a great dupe for those popular discontinued perfumes.

Why Are So Many Popular Fragrances Discontinued?

If you've ever just assumed that popular perfumes get discontinued because of a lack of interest, that's not necessarily the case.

"One of the biggest misconceptions is that fragrances are discontinued because they’re no longer loved or successful. In reality, it’s rarely that simple. Fragrance today is managed as part of a broader portfolio strategy," Johnsen says.

"Brands are constantly balancing innovation with performance, and even well-loved scents can be retired if they no longer meet global sales targets, margin expectations or fit the current direction of the brand," he adds.

Related: How to Properly Layer Perfume, According to a Fragrance Expert

Regulatory changes can also restrict key ingredients.

"In some cases, reformulating a fragrance alters it to the point where it no longer represents the original creation. When that happens, brands may choose to discontinue rather than compromise the integrity of the scent," Johnsen tells Parade.

Changing trends can also influence a brand's desire to discontinue a particular fragrance.

"What might have been popular ten to 15 years ago could be considered out of style now. The younger crowd doesn’t just pick out one signature scent," Phillips explains. "Rather, they collect multiple fragrances, which forces brands to consistently change things up. This means brands kill older scents to make shelf space and marketing budget for new releases."

How Can You Find a Dupe for a Discontinued Perfume?

If you're feeling adventurous and want to find a dupe for a discontinued perfume, Phillips suggests looking at the fragrance structure (top notes, middle notes and base notes).

"Identify the signature ingredients. Most fragrances have one or two dominant elements," she explains.

The perfume pro also recommends looking beyond luxury.

"Dupes are everywhere. Look for the words 'inspired by' or similar fragrance descriptions. You may never find a 100% dupe, but you can get very close," she says.

Fragrance Alternative to Tom Ford Plum Japonais: Alexandria Forbidden Plum, $70

Alexandria Fragrances

If you once loved this "deep, luxurious and highly complex" fragrance, Phillips says Alexandria Forbidden Plum is a great option.

"It's inspired by Plum Japonais with rich plum, spice and amber notes," she tells Parade

9. L’Artisan Parfumeur Traversee du Bosphore

Ebay

This "extremely unique gourmand leather hybrid" featured notes of apple, leather, saffron and pistachio, per Phillips.

What Makes a Fragrance Hard To Replace or Duplicate?

Some fragrances are harder to duplicate than others since fragrances tap into "emotion and construction," per Johnsen.

"From a consumer point of view, a fragrance stops being just a scent very quickly. It becomes tied to a feeling, a moment, even a version of yourself. You don’t think about the notes. You think about how it made you feel, who you were with or who you became when you wore it," he says.

Related: 7 Best Luxury Perfume Dupes at Zara, According to a Fragrance Expert

Duplicating those feelings can be rather challenging.

"A great fragrance isn’t just a list of ingredients. It’s the balance, the tension, the way it evolves on skin," he continues. "The way something sparkles at the top, then softens, then settles into something that feels almost like a memory. You can recreate the structure. You can get close to the smell. But you can’t recreate the exact emotional imprint it left behind. So from the outside, people are searching for a replacement fragrance. But in reality, they’re trying to return to a feeling. And that’s something no formula can truly duplicate."

’80s Heavy Metal Band, Once Split for 10 Years, Announces Exciting News

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:21pm

Death Angel, a heavy thrash metal band, is celebrating a major milestone in their music career.

The Filipino-American band, known for their infectious, high-octane sound, announced the 10th anniversary of their eighth studio album.

In an Instagram post, the five-piece group is commemorating the release of The Evil Divide by unveiling a special vinyl edition of the album.

Death Angel not only delivered a surprising announcement but also gave fans a special treat by adding a bonus song.

“TODAY is the 10th Anniversary of The Evil Divide. The Evil Divide is BACK ON VINYL with a 10th anniversary edition. The new 2LP and digital versions include bonus cover-track “Wasteland” (original by The Mission UK). This is the first time the track will be available on a US physical release and digitally worldwide!” the caption reads .

The release is scheduled to arrive on July 24 under Nuclear Blast Records.

The thrash metal band from Daly City, California, disbanded in 1991 following a bus crash accident in Arizona in 1990.

Due to the severity of the incident, drummer Andy Galeon needed more time to recover. This led to the band’s temporary hiatus, compounded by their personal issues.

Ten years later, the band officially reunited at the benefit concert Thrash of the Titans for Testament’s Chuck Billy.

The crowd’s overwhelming response pushed the band to reunite permanently and tour together again.

"At that point, we again, we were trying to take that innocent approach, where we weren't trying to do anything," guitarist Rob Cavestany told Sebastiano Mereu of From Hero To Zero. "We were playing together; we weren't even intending to last very long. We just thought we would do a tour or something, like a reunion tour and leave it at that. We started writing music little by little, just naturally, then Nuclear Blast came along and started to tell us, 'Let's do it. Come alive again and make music.' Little by little, we got the idea we should jump back in. So, we signed to Nuclear Blast, and there began this era of the band, or at least the next era of the band."

Currently, Death Angel is on its U.S. spring tour, which kicked off on May 1 and will conclude on June 21. The band is performing in major cities in Arizona, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Florida and more along with special guests Vio-lence and Incite on selected dates.

1973 Love Song, Written While in High School, Became Rocker's Biggest Hit

Wed, 05/27/2026 - 8:18pm

Before he became one of rock music’s most inventive hitmakers, he was just a teenager writing songs inspired by his young love.

Long before "Hello, It’s Me" became a Top 5 hit in 1973, the now-classic ballad was actually the first song Todd Rundgren ever wrote, while still in high school.

Speaking in a recent interview, Rundgren reflected on the origins of the song, revealing that the track stemmed from an early romance and eventually became what he jokingly calls his "albatross," as fans still request it decades later.

"It's the very first song I wrote. You know, I had a band called the Nazz, and we were just doing cover songs of everybody, and realized it couldn't, you know, we would have no future unless we started writing our own material," Rundgren said during a recent interview with Professor of Rock. "I sat down to write the song and instead of writing a song for the guitar, bass, and drums and lead singer — you know, we thought we were The Who — I came up with this sappy ballad."

He went on to say that the song, which was written for the girl he dated in high school, became the "only radio hit that Nazz ever had," even though he had already quit the band by the time it found success.

Rundgren would later re-release the hit on his 1972 solo album Something/Anything?.

"Hello, It's Me" went on to peak at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Decades later, the song experienced a resurgence when it was featured in the pilot episode of That '70s Show in 1997.
