Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin’s Divorce Owned the Tabloids, and She Just Dedicated a Post to His Birthday

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 6:59pm

Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin had one of the most legendary divorces in Hollywood, but the couple appears to have found peace.

Basinger, 72, who made waves in the '80s alongside Mickey Rourke in the sexy drama 9 1/2 Weeks, skyrocketed to the top of the box office in the role of Vicki Vale in Tim Burton‘s Batman, alongside Michael Keaton. However, it was her role in 1997’s L.A. Confidential that earned her an Academy Award. Baldwin has continued to be a Hollywood staple throughout the years, with roles in films like It's Complicated, The Departed, and The Royal Tenenbaums. But when the couple's divorce became official in 2002, the split rocked the tabloids so significantly that it dominated the tabloid news cycle for years to come.

However, things seem to have changed in the last couple of decades. In a new Instagram post, Basinger honored Baldwin's 68th birthday on Friday with a sweet throwback video from their 1991 film, The Marrying Man. But in addition to the video, it was what she said that truly blew fans away.

Maybe Vicky and Charlie lived happily ever after…… But in real life there is a phrase called “OTHER PLANS”………This coming Sunday will mark the 35th anniversary of THE MARRYING MAN…. A very special time in my life that I will be forever grateful for…… The years have passed and time has done its wonders… I will also say that today is Alec Baldwin’s birthday… 🎂 A big happy birthday to Alec my costar …..Wishing him health… laughter…. and many more wonderful years with family and friends……always 🙏✨🥰," Basinger captioned the video.

What's Kim Basinger Up to These Days?

While Basinger’s marriage and divorce from Alec Baldwin became the stuff of tabloid legend, the relationship did introduce the couple’s daughter, Ireland Baldwin, to the world. Ireland chronicles her own path through parenthood with her longtime partner, musician André Allen Anjos, on her social media account, and Basinger is occasionally featured as a loving grandma. In honor of his birthday, Baldwin shared a series of sweet photos, one of which included a rare cameo from her mother, who has chosen a quieter life these days away from the bright lights of Hollywood and social media’s prying eyes.

In the fifth photo, Basinger can be seen chatting with Anjos alongside her grandchild. Sporting black sunglasses and her trademark long, blonde hair, Basinger has barely changed a bit since her days as Vicki Vale in Batman.

“Happy birthday to my everything ♥️,” Baldwin captioned the photo carousel.

Best-Selling Author’s Novel Ranked Among ‘Most Anticipated’ by TIME

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 6:10pm

Best-selling author Robinne Lee is making a highly anticipated return to fiction and readers are already taking notice.

Her upcoming novel, Crash Into Me, has been ranked among the "most anticipated" books of 2026 by TIME, signaling strong early buzz ahead of its July release. The recognition places the book among the year's most talked-about titles, driven by both reader excitement and industry anticipation.

Lee is best known for her debut novel The Idea of You, which became an international bestseller before being adapted into a hit film starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine. The movie drew more than 50 million viewers globally in its first weeks on streaming, becoming a major success and introducing Lee's storytelling to an even wider audience.

Now, nearly a decade later, Crash Into Me marks her first new novel since that breakout success. The story follows Cecilia Chen, an aspiring photographer who relocates from Paris to Los Angeles with her husband, a filmmaker, and their children. But when a car accident connects her to a mysterious former model named Anouk, long-buried secrets begin to surface.

View this post on Instagram

"I have been crafting Cecilia Chen's story for well over a decade, taking multiple breaks along the way — occasionally for years at a time,” Lee told PEOPLE. "But in 2019, I began to work on this current iteration — a seductive narrative about power, privilege, betrayal and desire, viewed from a perspective we don’t often see."

The novel blends romance, suspense and psychological tension, exploring themes of power, desire and identity. TIME describes the book as an "erotic suspense" story set against the glossy backdrop of Los Angeles, highlighting Lee's signature ability to capture complex emotional dynamics.

"The opportunity to write women characters who contain multitudes will always appeal to me," Lee added. And I’m excited for readers to get to know Cecilia and Anouk as intimately as I do."

Beyond her writing, Lee has built a multifaceted career as an actress and producer, with roles in films like Hitch, Seven Pounds and 13 Going on 30, as well as appearances in television series including Being Mary Jane and Kaleidoscope.

With Crash Into Me already earning early recognition, Lee's return to the literary world is shaping up to be one of the standout publishing moments of 2026, one that readers have clearly been waiting for.

Crash Into Me is set to hit shelves on July 7 and is now available for preorder.

Aldi Shoppers Say This New Bakery Find Is Impossible to Stop Eating

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 6:05pm

If you've spent any time scrolling through Aldi fan groups lately, you've probably seen the same warning pop up again and again: go in with a plan, or you might leave with way more sweets than you intended. That's especially true this time of year, when spring bakery items start rolling in—and one $4.99 find is already getting a lot of rave reviews.

The item in question is Aldi's Bake Shop Carrot Cake Cookie Sandwich, a seasonal bakery pick that shoppers say is nearly impossible to stop eating. Sold in a 15.5-ounce pack for under $5, it's quickly becoming one of those blink-and-it's-gone Aldi Finds, with fans urging others to grab it before it disappears from shelves.

Aldi's Carrot Cake Sandwich Cookies Are Back for Spring

Aldi

The product at the center of all the buzz is the Bake Shop Carrot Cake Cookie Sandwich, a seasonal find at Aldi. Priced at $4.99 for a 15.5-ounce package, each container comes with 12 cookies—roughly 42 cents per cookie.

Think of it as a portable version of carrot cake. Each sandwich features two soft, cake-like cookies with a layer of cream cheese filling in the middle. The cookies themselves include classic carrot cake elements like oats and raisins, with a softer, chewier texture rather than crunchy.

This isn't a permanent bakery item, either. As an Aldi Find, it's only available for a limited time, typically around spring and Easter. Once stores sell through their shipment, that's it until next year, which helps explain why shoppers tend to grab them quickly when they spot them.

And while carrot cake desserts aren't exactly rare this time of year, this one stands out for how easy it is to eat. No slicing, plates or fork required—just grab one and go. That simplicity is a big part of why they're so popular.

If there's one consistent theme across Reddit and Facebook, it's that these cookies are hard to pace yourself with and are already selling out in many Aldi stores.

On Reddit, one shopper wrote, "I rarely think that baked goods from grocery store bakeries are very good because I like to bake and homemade is so much better usual [sic]. These cookies are surprisingly good." In another Reddit thread, a commenter said, "Omg! I ate them until I was sick! Lol."

In that same thread, one user described them simply as "unreal!! So good!!" while another joked they had to leave the store quickly before the cookies could "attack" them.

Even Aldi employees are chiming in. One Reddit commenter shared, "I'm an employee… and I went thru two of these in 3 days at work lol."

Over on Facebook, the reactions are pretty much the same. Shoppers call them "dangerously good," "life changing," and "so yummy," with more than a few admitting they didn't last long at home. One person wrote, "We bought them yesterday. They are almost gone… delicious," while another said they planned to "buy out their entire stock."

There are a few minor critiques. Some shoppers find the filling a bit sweet, while others mention the carrot flavor is subtle, but even those comments tend to end on a positive note.

Overall, these live up to the hype. If you spot them, it's worth picking up a pack while they're still in stores—they don't tend to stick around for long.

“Just to explain it to Savannah that, just because we have an incompetent lead doesn’t mean that we don’t care," he explained. "That we don’t want Nancy to be brought home safely and that we’re not with her in this. We are completely with her and her family on this.”

It's unclear whether the "incompetent lead" was Sheriff Chris Nanos or the lead investigator who reportedly never worked a homicide case before. However, Entin's source also weighed in on the recent no-confidence vote against Nanos.

"This isn’t the first no confidence vote that we’ve done. So, it should have been no surprise to him, especially with what’s been going on," the insider pointed out. "So now, not only our local community, Arizona in general, but just the nation now sees that we have no faith in Chris Nanos.”

Nancy was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31 at her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson. As of writing, no suspect has been named, despite Savannah's $1 million reward offer.

1978 Career-Defining Classic Was No. 1 Hit 48 Years Ago Today

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 5:34pm

Forty-eight years ago today, Charley Pride, the beloved 1970s country musician, topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart with his classic hit, "Someone Loves You Honey."

"Someone Loves You Honey" was released in 1978 as the second single and title track on his 24th studio album. After only three months, the track achieved mainstream success, climbing to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Pride held the top position for two consecutive weeks and remained on the chart for 12, marking his 20th No. 1 hit.

The second single followed the success of Pride's lead single, "More to Me," which also peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. The album's collection of hit material landed it the No. 4 spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Someone Loves You Honey earned a Gold certification in 1978 after selling over 50,000 copies in Canada alone.

Produced by Pride and Jerry Bradley via RCA Victor, "Someone Loves You Honey" is recognizable for its blend of traditional roots and the evolving countrypolitan sound. Pride incorporated smooth instrumentation and a polished vocal performance designed for crossover success.

"Someone Loves You Honey" runs only two minutes long. Its efficient nature made it a favorite among radio DJs, contributing to the song's swift rise to fame. Today, Pride's hit remains relevant with modern audiences through streaming platforms. On Spotify alone, the song has accumulated over two million streams.

Written by Don Devaney, the song focuses on themes of endurance and support within a partnership. "Someone Loves You Honey" is a reassuring anthem about unconditional love regardless of the challenges that come along the way. The track's persevering themes and catchy melody make it an exemplary hit within the 1970s country music scene.

Here is what the coaches had to say when the performance wrapped up:

“Jonah, I think you're great. I love your character,” Adam said. “Mikenley, we all turned around for you in the Blinds. It was just a really cool vibey thing. It seems like that's where you're most comfortable in this ethereal alternate universe of your own like magical world. I'm a big fan of your voice. It was a good song choice, and you did great.”

“You both are so talented. Jonah, you're so gifted, You're such a beautiful singer,” John said. “I think this song is really sincere and it's lovely. It's hard in a competition setting for that to land exactly where you want it to land. Mikenley, I love this song and I thought it was really interesting that you took some liberties with the melody. It actually worked for me. I think you won this Knockout."

And then it was Kelly's turn, the most important critique of the three.

“I'm going to start with Jonah. Your passion when you're on stage, it's infectious to me even like Céline. She’s so committed and I love that. I think you're really special. Mikenley, I don't think there's anyone like you, like in your lane. Even down to your wardrobe. You come out here and I was like, ‘I want that sweater.’  You pick songs that people are familiar with, but you always put a twist on them. You always go to these really cool places that not many artists go, which I think is very cool and interesting and sets you apart."

So, who is the winner of this Knockout?"

How You'll Meet Your Soulmate, Based on Your Birth Month

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 5:31pm

If you have yet to meet your soulmate, chances are you’ve thought through a bevy of scenarios that could lead you to The One. Could you cross paths during an everyday routine, like grocery shopping, or might they actually be on the same dating app you’ve been swiping around on for months? While it’s possible to look to astrological transits, numerology, and a variety of other helpful cosmic tools to get a sense of when you’ll meet your soulmate, it can never hurt to better understand what brings you joy for a sense of how you’ll meet them. After all, it’s typically when you’re in a flow with your own life that you’ll find your match.

Look no further than your birth month for valuable intel on your personality, perspective, and favorite pastimes, which might set the stage for connecting with that special someone.

The Way You’ll Meet Your Soulmate, Based on Your Birth Month

Read on to learn more about the path that could lead you to your soulmate, based on the month you were born.

January — Through an activity that supports your most ambitious goals.

If you were born during the first month of the year, you were born while the sun was moving through pragmatic, driven Capricorn or quirky, humanitarian Aquarius. Both signs are capable of reaching for the stars and putting in the work to achieve their greatest aspirations, courtesy of the ruling planet they share: taskmaster Saturn. That’s why you’ll be most likely to meet your soulmate through an activity that goes hand-in-hand with hitting your goals. You’re laser-focused on your career path and/or making your mark in your community, so you may meet them at a professional conference or while volunteering or doing charitable work with neighbors.

NEXT: The 5 Most Powerful Birth Dates

February — While tapping into your most imaginative daydreams.

Born when the sun was moving through community-oriented, future-minded Aquarius or romantic, empathic Pisces, you’re capable of allowing your imagination to run wild and to get caught up in daydreams. You’re a visionary and a poet who might find tapping into your artistic impulses especially therapeutic. In turn, you’ll connect with your soulmate while you’re immersing yourself in this part of your life experience, whether that’s by taking a music class or visiting a museum exhibit that gets your creative juices flowing.

March — By taking big risks.

Because you were born while the sun was moving through dreamer Pisces or go-getter Aries, you’re in touch with your impulses and even have a little bit of an escapist streak. You thrive when you’re putting yourself out there, whether by signing up for an athletic event that challenges you physically or pouring your heart into an artistic endeavor. It’ll be while taking a chance on yourself and making bold moves that you’ll meet the one.

April — Through an embodied experience.

Born when the sun was moving through Aries, the competitive, action-oriented fire sign, or Taurus, the sensual, steady earth sign, you’re capable of being extremely present in any given moment, and you’re also wired to explore and learn through physicality. You’ll feel most grounded when you’re putting your feet in grass during a picnic with friends, going for a run out while taking in a blazing sunset, or taking a yoga class that allows you to work up a sweat and feel more centered spiritually. Creating space in your life for activities like these sets the stage for meeting your soulmate.

RELATE?: 4 Most Dangerous Zodiac Signs When Angry

May — While allowing yourself to reach a natural flow state.

Whether you were born when the sun was moving through practical, slow, and steady Taurus or bubbly, curious, cerebral Gemini, you can bounce back from just about anything and know how to soak up any given moment. You’re also a lifelong learner and optimist by nature. Channel all of these characteristics into immersing yourself in pastimes that make you feel like you’re in your natural flow, whether that’s prioritizing self-care experiences like spa days, traveling, reading, or advancing your education, and you’ll be on track for connecting with your soulmate.

June — While spending quality time with the people you cherish the most.

Born when the sun was in either curious, on-the-go air sign Gemini or protective, caregiving water sign Cancer, you center your world around people, whether that’s your social circle and/or your loved ones. You might be someone who adores flitting from one event to the next, if Gemini is dominant in your birth chart, or who’s perfectly happy to be a homebody, if you have a stronger Cancer influence, but either way, leaning into surrounding yourself with your nearest and dearest to set yourself up for meeting your soulmate. You might even be introduced to them through a friend or relative!

July — While following your heart.

Your sun falls in either sensitive, nurturing, emotionally astute water sign Cancer or action-oriented, charismatic, go-getter fire sign Leo, which means you’re an incredibly passionate person who thrives and feels at their most vital when they’re staying true to their heart. That said, you’ll do well to consider how you can ensure you’re having life experiences that are aligned with your purpose and spirit, whether that’s pursuing the line of work you’ve dreamed about since you were a kid or living somewhere that feels like it supports your mental and emotional well-being. These are the foundations that will make it possible for you to welcome your soulmate.

FURTHER: This is Your Lucky Angel Number, Based on Your Birth Date

August — While striking a balance between pursuing your bold dreams and taking your hands off the wheel.

Whether you were born under optimistic, theatrical fire sign Leo or cerebral, sensitive earth sign Virgo, you’re innately driven to map out your future and take proactive steps to make your boldest aspirations a reality. You’re also a master problem-solver. But sometimes this tendency to push forward at all costs can be draining and actually lead to working against what the universe wants for you. You’ll attract and connect with your soulmate when simultaneously feeling fueled by your ambition — versus drained — and allowing the universe to do its thing. Striking this balance boosts your already sunny confidence and invites true love in.

September — By granting the universe permission to make magic for you.

Born under either service-oriented, intuitive Virgo or partnership-oriented, beauty-loving Libra, your goal in life is to bring more beauty, peace, and balance into the world. And the go-getter that you are, you’re happy to go to great lengths to do that, especially for the people you love — and in order to attract and maintain the romantic relationship of your dreams. As counterintuitive as it might sound, you’ll do best to let go of steering the ship and see what romantic magic the universe has in store for you. The key: being sure that you’ve begun actively cultivating your own bliss, balance, healthy self-image, and inner happiness first.

FUN!: Which Classic Rock Queen Matches You, Based on Your Birth Month

October — While stepping into your unique brand of fearlessness and inner power.

During your birth month, the sun moves through initiative-taking, balance-loving air sign Libra and dynamic, mysterious water sign Scorpio, making you someone who very much centers relationships and might even be a serial monogamist. But knowing your own power and how to make yourself joyful is integral to welcoming your soulmate. Whether you’re flexing your leadership muscles as an entrepreneur or addressing generational wounds with family members, healing and centering yourself emotionally lays the groundwork for fulfilling, fated love.

November — By exploring uncharted territory.

Whether you were born under the powerful, magnetic water sign Scorpio or the wanderlust-filled, gregarious fire sign Sagittarius, you invest a lot of your time and energy into forging heartfelt bonds and seeking spiritual and personal growth. You might vacillate between feeling like a creature of habit (thanks to Scorpio’s fixed nature) or actually being quite restless and always in need of adventure (a more Sagittarian impulse), but stepping out of your comfort zone is a must for magnetizing a soulmate connection. By reveling in eye-opening experiences, such as long-distance travel or taking higher education courses, you’ll find the one who can teach you about yourself and the world.

CURIOUS?: Which National Park Mirrors Your Soul, Based on Your Birth Month

December — By practicing gratitude.

Born with your sun in either adventurous fire sign Sagittarius or industrious earth sign Capricorn, you’re innately wired to continually challenge yourself to grow and achieve. If you’re more influenced by Sag, you’re a philosophical visionary who is always nurturing your gratitude practice, and if you have a strong Capricorn presence in your chart, you know that being appreciative of your blessings bolsters your success. That said, practicing gratitude and taking stock of where in your life you are already experiencing abundance is the fast-track to meeting your soulmate. Whether you connect at a spiritual mentor’s seminar or through an industrious professional undertaking, your glass-half-full, proactive vibe is one that the right person will gravitate to.

Season 4 Love on the Spectrum couples: Who is still together?Madison & Tyler Tyler and Madison on 'Love on the Spectrum'

Netflix

Madison and Tyler are definitely a Love on the Spectrum success story, as the happy couple began Season 4 with Madison moving closer to her "cowboy sweetheart" and ended with the pair now engaged.

Early in the season, Madison confirmed that she had found "her person," in Tyler, which is what she had set out to do beginning in Season 3, when she first joined the show. Madison, who is known for her love of Disney princesses, is now getting a fairytale love story of her very own.

On their Valentine's Day date, which Madison shared marked her first Valentine's Day in a relationship, Tyler serenaded Madison with the country song "Livin' on Love," which Madison joined in on. She suspected that Tyler might be about to pop the question then, but the proposal came a few months later, during their Christmas in July-themed one-year anniversary celebration.

James has had the longest run on Love on Spectrum so far, as he first appeared in Season 1 and was among the returning cast members in Season 4. Although James had a few dates that didn't work out earlier in the show, in Season 3, he confirmed his relationship with Shelley. The two hadn't met on the show—Shelley had actually reached out to him after seeing him on the show—but they found love all the same.

Season 4 confirmed that James and Shelley are still happily together. During the season, the couple was on a house hunt, reflecting their readiness to take the next step. Like their romance, their search for a home had a happy ending, as the two are currently homeowners. James and Shelley have now been living together in their new home for several months, and they express continued love and admiration for each other, referring to each other as soulmates.

Connor and Georgie got together during Season 3, and they concluded that season feeling happy, compatible and hopeful for the future. However, at the beginning of Season 4, Connor expressed some concerns about the status of their relationship. Specifically, he worried that Georgie was keeping him at a distance, which left him feeling confused about how she felt about him—although he still had strong feelings for her, he shared.

Ultimately, Connor and Georgie decided to bring their relationship to an end, calling things off two weeks after their trip to London, which was depicted in Season 4. The two reportedly remain amicable, but they found that they had too many differences in the end. Georgie has since found love with a new person, Luke, while Connor is back on the search for love after taking some time to work on personal growth.

Logan was a newcomer to Love on the Spectrum in Season 4, and he was entering the dating world for the very first time. His first date was with Hailey, and after a pre-date preparatory chat with Love on the Spectrum's on-screen autism expert Jennifer Cook, Logan felt more ready to find his Hannah Montana love story.

Although Logan and Hailey had a first kiss and even began a relationship when Logan asked Hailey to be his girlfriend, Hailey eventually ended the relationship, telling Logan she would prefer to be friends. Logan is currently single, but he hasn't lost hope for love.

Emma was also a Love on the Spectrum newcomer, and she was looking to find love with someone who shared her Mormon faith. She had a first date with Austin early in Season 4, but she ultimately decided that they would be better as friends than romantic partners.

After her date with Austin, Emma found a romantic connection with Eric, with whom she had her first kiss. In the end, though, Emma preferred a friendship with him as well. Currently, Emma is single, but she ended Season 4 hopeful that she will find love in the future, as these experiences have helped her better understand what she is looking for in a romantic partner.

Dylan, the last newcomer on Love on the Spectrum Season 4, went on dates with two women during the season. His first-ever date was with Caroline, with whom Dylan felt a strong connection, even feeling that she may be his "one" on their first date. However, Dylan and Caroline ultimately didn't work out.

Dylan's next date in Season 4 was with Melissa, and although the two went on a second date, they eventually decided they weren't the right fit for each other. Dylan is now single, but he feels ready to keep dating and looking for love, and he remains friends with both Caroline and Melissa.

‘Jury Duty’ Star Reveals 9 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets Fans Never Knew (Exclusive)

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 5:12pm

Back in 2023, Jury Duty brought to our screens one of modern TV's most cavalier concepts. In a day and age filled with social media, and cameras in our pockets at all times, could an entire show be created around one guy who doesn't know he's in a TV show?

Of course, old-school reality TV fans are familiar with the concept, given the four seasons of The Joe Schmo Show that have aired to this point. But Jury Duty aimed to take a step beyond. Rather than putting someone on an entirely fabricated reality show, one if they created a real-life situation, something as mundane as getting called for jury duty, and truly make it out of the ordinary?

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Jury Duty was a runaway hit for Amazon, who aired it on their Freevee service at the time. After raking in commendations, and Emmy nominations, the question became: Could they do it again? And, three years later, they provide the answer in Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat. The "hero" of our story now is Anthony Norman, who thinks he's hired as a temp to assist the annual company retreat for a hot sauce company called "Rockin' Grandma's." He has no idea that he's in for the wildest week of his life, and it's all built around seeing how he would react to every outlandish situation thrown his way.

The tightrope act that is Jury Duty only exists with the tireless talents of the actors who are tasked with playing believable, yet ridiculous characters. One of those actors in Company Retreat is Alex Bonifer, whose character Dougie is a black sheep of the family, looking to prove he deserves inheriting his father's company. Bonifer sat down with Parade to talk through the process of filming Jury Duty Presents Company Retreat, and reveal some of the biggest things you may not know about how this high-stakes social experiment comes together.

The actors were not told the show they auditioned for

The entire conceit to bring Anthony into the Company Retreat fold began with a fake job listing, leading to thousands of applications. Of course, those who sought out the temp position at Rockin' Grandma's wouldn't be able to know what their on-camera work would actually involve. But, according to Bonifer, the actors were left a fair amount in the dark as well when it came to auditioning for the gig.

"When I got the breakdown, it was 'Untitled Anthony King Project,'" Bonifer reveals, referring to showrunner Anthony King. "But given the nature of the breakdown, meaning the role and the sort of vague description of the project, and the fact that we had to improvise for a full minute in the initial self-tape request, I kind of read between the lines.

Interestingly, throughout the entire process, Bonifer was not given any scenes that would wind up playing out in Jury Duty. Instead, he was given a couple of different scenarios and characters and told to improvise, clearly a test to see if the actors could sink or swim in the world of improv. But the ultimate trial came at the final callback. According to Bonifer, the production office was filled with cameras, much like the show proper would. It's then the actors were informed about the corporate setting — albeit at a coffee company rather than hot sauce. And they were told to simply walk in and interact with as many people as they wanted to while in character.

"My goal was just to do 'hard funny,' but believable," he explains. "Extract the comedy out of every single moment. And it was really an improviser's dream, because I got to put my 'stink' all over this character and all over this project."

Most plot points were scripted — but quite a few weren't

Bonifer confirms that, while the Jury Duty was speaking weeks getting into character, they were also being given the scripts of the season. The writers' room had already crafted the overall arc of the company retreat, from Kevin's (Ryan Perez) botched proposal and sudden departure to Doug (Jerry Hauck) refusing to sign over his company at the eleventh hour. That meant that the skeleton of the season would remain the same, no matter what Anthony said or did.

That's not to say, however, that every beat in the show came from the written page. In fact, as Bonifer reveals, the "PJ's Snack Attack" running segment was something that was not in the initial scripts, instead crafted on the fly during filming. Some plot points even unintentionally came from Anthony himself.

"The spicy applesauce that wasn't anywhere to be found [in the script]," Bonifer says. "That was something that Anthony said. And my first time meeting him in the conference room, which we don't see, he had mentioned, 'Oh, I think I wonder if my son would like spicy applesauce.' And so that took us down a whole path."

The show was nearly entirely improvised

Of course, in finding out that there was a writing team and scripts behind Jury Duty, the next question becomes: How scripted was it? And Bonifer clarifies that the script served much more as a recommendation rather than a mandate.

"I would say, for every five pages of the script outline, there might have been a small chunk of scripted dialogue," he says. "But even that was like, 'Here's the broad stroke.' But it was mostly like, 'Here's the journey, and you guys fill in the rest.'"

Bonifer says the moment he's the most proud of improvising came from a group interview that actually became the last line of the trailer. A straight-faced Dougie describes becoming the impending CEO, saying, "People think this job was handed to me. And I'm just excited to prove that it's not a hand job, it's an earned job."

"That's something that I fully improvised," he says. "It's a feeling I often get in improv, where I'm like, 'Don't say that. I don't know if that's gonna be funny. I don't know. Bail on it.' And I had that same feeling come up in that moment during that group interview. But I was just like, 'Screw it. Trust your instinct. Say it.'"

While Bonifer was worried that the crew would say the line was too over the top, he pulled it off, which he credits to the surprising humanity he brings to a man who dropped out of business school to join a reggae band — which he was subsequently kicked out of.

"I prided myself on my portrayal of Dougie," he admits. "He has his crazy moments, but ultimately, he was a grounded, real, believable character with a lot of heart. And so I trusted that, even in a line like that, it's funny because he missed the innuendo completely. But it would still be believable and grounded and real."

Bonifer went undercover in character before getting the part

Bonifer credits his ability to create zany, yet believable characters due to his extensive improvisational background and work in the Groundlings. But there's a certain suspension of disbelief when it comes to seeing an improv show. In order for Jury Duty to be pulled off correctly, these characters had to pass the smell test in the real world. And that's exactly what Bonifer set out to do while he was auditioning for the part that would ultimately become Dougie.

"When I had my that in-person callback I was referring to, my hair was a little longer," he recounts. "And I had teased it out, so it was nice and big and floofy and unprofessional. I didn't have a full beard, but I had kind of like a five o'clock shadow. I was wearing my big suit that I wore in the client cookout. And I was so nervous, like, 'Are people gonna think this is phony?'

"So one of the things I did, and I'm so glad that I did, was that there was a Vons down the street on Ventura Boulevard, and I was early to my audition by about an hour. So I pulled into this Vons, and I just full-blown, in-character was walking around this Vons for 20 to 30 minutes. Interacting with people, asking them if I could use the bathroom, if they thought this cereal was any good. And it really, really helped my confidence to go like, "Oh, wow. Everyone thinks I'm real."

Alex Bonifer says the secret to the success of 'Jury Duty: Company Retreat' comes from the amount of downtime the cast would spend in character.

Courtesy of Amazon

Anthony committed to Rockin' Grandma's much quicker than expected

Of course, much of the plot this season hinged on Anthony's support of Dougie, through his various attempts to prove to his dad that he's the perfect person hand-picked to take over the company. And it's something Bonifer credits to the 24/7 immersive experience this wound up being. Every time the cameras and/or Anthony were around, they had to be in character. And that profuse amount of downtime allowed for connections to easily manifest.

"We lived there around the clock, so you're only actually getting to see a fraction of what our experience was," he says. "That's how we were able to forge such a real friendship. Our interactions were largely casual. And I was just saying truths about my life."

Even so, it's safe to say that Anthony went all-in for people he met a week ago at an alarming pace. Bonifer recalls watching back Episode 3, where Doug pulls Dougie aside after the latter leads a disastrous attempt at a new product launch. Anthony's face expresses palpable hurt and concern, which moves the actor.

"It's because he's just a good guy," he says. "He's just a guy that cares about people. And that was really the first moment where I was like, 'Oh, wow.' He's upset for Dougie. He's feeling for Dougie in this moment, because he genuinely cares"

"Was I surprised that we had that strong of a connection? Probably," he admits. "We have a lot of similarities. He's an athlete. I'm an athlete; I played football in college. Our sons are just a few months apart in age. That was the hardest secret to keep, honestly, the whole time. He would talk about his son, and I had to play dumb. But I was like, 'Dude, I know exactly what you're you know talking about, what you're going through.'

"I think we were all initially surprised, at first, at just how engaging Anthony was. But once we all got to know him, after a day, everything he did became very unsurprising, because he just proved to be who he was. And then when he would start pulling us aside and checking in with us, and being there for Claire and being there for PJ with his 'snack attacks,' at that point, we weren't surprised. We're like, 'Of course Anthony would do this. That's just who he is.'"

Bonifer was never worried Anthony would figure everything out

To pull off something like this is a high-wire act, to say the least. As highlighted in the finale, the scale of production massively multiplied compared to Season 1, meaning more possibilities for things to go wrong. Regardless, when it came to the characters, even during some of their most ridiculous moments, Bonifer never doubted that Anthony would hear what someone was saying and clock that something was up.

"In terms of Anthony believing in the reality, I never really questioned that," he says. "I don't think any of us did. I think that he was fully invested in us as people. Even for me, as an actor who knew what was going on, what being at this very real, very peaceful, very tranquil, recruit retreat facility with limited access to phones, you almost forget about the world outside of this little retreat. That's what businesses go on retreats for. Like, 'Let's strip away the world for a period of time. Let's bond, let's get close.' And you really become fully invested in the thing that you're doing on the retreat. So in terms of that world, we were literally living in that bubble the entire time around the clock. So I was never worried about him questioning the reality.

...but there were a few times they almost got caught

All that said, even if Anthony was all-in on the reality of Rockin' Grandma's, it didn't mean there wasn't a chance of things going wrong. We saw in the finale the moment when things came the closest to crashing down, with the notary pretending to lock his keys in his car, but with the window rolled down. We get taken inside the Jury Duty control room at that point, as the producers hurriedly radio Marjorie (Blair Beeken), telling her to roll the window up and lock the car while Anthony is preoccupied.

But Bonifer says there was another revealing moment caught off-camera earlier in the season. After the documentary crew (and the show proper) "wrapped" for the day, they would schedule a variety of nighttime events for the "company." One of the first nights, they did a "sound bath," which was an immediate hit, so much so that they brought it back towards the end of the retreat. It's a decision they would later regret.

"We went to turn off all the lights, and there was one light bulb that was not going off," he explains. "S it was me, Anthony and Warren Burke, who plays Steve. And we were getting it set up. And Warren gets up on the ladder, and he's like, 'Well, just let's just unscrew it. We'll just take out the light.' So he goes to unscrew it, takes it off, and the light is still on. And we're like, 'What?' And we look, and it's got the production tape with writing on it.

"It really felt like in The Truman Show, when the light falls down on this guy. I was like, 'What?! Then he was like, 'What the hell?!' And I was like, 'Oh no, dude, let's just get out of here and get our sound bath.' And I literally hid it under a pillow. And we were like, 'Let's just not talk about this.' But that was the one moment where on the production side where I was like, 'Oh my god. This is a production light that they didn't tell us about, that they of course, didn't want us to take down. But here we are, so...crisis averted."

When Anthony found out he was on a TV show, Alex Bonifer says his response was 'in grace and in understanding and in joy.'

Courtesy of Amazon

Anthony's reaction to the reveal was not a surprise

Everything that the actors and crew had spent weeks, nay months, prepping for finally reached its peak (or second mountain) in Episode 7. The climax of the story had arrived, as Anthony and Dougie discover Truikas's true intentions in acquiring Rockin' Grandma's mere minutes before the contract would be signed. What follows is a madcap sprint to the finish, complete with multiple trips up the hill, and Bonifer crashing through a banner.

As he describes it, "I had to be snuck down the mountain, hide in my room for Anthony to come back with the coffee, intercept him, go to Triukas, go around the building in a certain specific way so that we could hear them talking in the vents, run up the hill, not find Doug, run back down the hill. So when I got that script, I remember my first thought being like, 'I mean...okay, good luck! I don't know who's going to make this all happen.' And, sure enough, we pulled it off."

Considering how much Bonifer had to compartmentalize as he literally ran through the endgame like a chicken with its head cut off, he didn't pay much mind to what would happen next. After all, while the story of Rockin' Grandma's had come to an end, the story of Jury Duty would not without its final act: The reveal.

When asked about his anticipated reaction from Anthony, Bonifer says, "There were no expectations. I had so much adrenaline rushing through my body, and I was still so present in the halting of the signing of this deal that it kind of caught up to me pretty quickly. But I think I had a lot of confidence that Anthony wouldn't feel hurt or betrayed. I knew that there would be a large degree of shock. But I think I was confident in the relationship that we had built over the course of this experience, and the relationship he built with every other person."

"I thought it was beautiful," he continues. "I thought that he received it in a very unsurprising, very Anthony way, in grace and in understanding and in joy. He was constantly making the joyous choice. And so when it was revealed that he was going to get money right at the end of this, we all just started bawling. And that's what I held on to. I knew that we were going to change Anthony Norman's life for the better. That's what I held on to throughout the whole time of this little layer of deceit that there was to this project. Like, 'No, the world is going to see what a good human he is, and his life is going to change.' And any preconceptions that I had about that reveal, everything else he did, he surpassed it for the better."

Is Anthony close with the Jury Duty cast today?

Jury Duty Season 2 filmed nearly a year and a half ago, timestamped by the fact that the XYZ wildfire nearly derailed the plot of an outdoor search for Dougie halfway through the season. But, even though months have passed since the fourth wall broke and the entire ruse was revealed, Anthony is still in good company with the Company Retreat cast.

"Anthony is going to be a friend of mine for the rest of my life," Bonfier says. "And I'm going to be friends and connected with everyone else at Rockin' Grandma's for the rest of my life. We've all stayed in touch. Rachel Callie, who plays Claire, has a stand-up show next week that a couple of us are going to. Anthony's come out to see me perform at the Groundlings.

"The nature of what we did really bred a closeness unlike any other set or any other project that I've ever worked on. And, honestly, I think the time that has passed since we've wrapped, now that we are able to talk about it, we were all living with this secret that we could only talk to each other about it. And so anything that came up, or any feelings, we were all there for each other to navigate the long wait. And now we're all getting to enjoy it together."

It seems that, even if Rockin' Grandma's is not an actual company, the family feeling behind it remains the biggest reality coming out of Jury Duty.

1981’s Country Cool Classic Sent Barbara Mandrell Straight to No. 1

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 5:10pm

In 1981, Barbara Mandrell reigned as country music’s queen and further solidified her stardom with a song inspired by the sounds that shaped her as a young girl.

On July 4, 1981, Mandrell celebrated a Billboard Country No. 1 hit with the song "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool." The song was written by Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan after a particularly poignant conversation with the country superstar.

According to American Songwriter, Mandrell was teased at school for loving what the other kids called "hillbilly music." This experience later helped shape the heartfelt message behind her chart-topping hit.

“(Kye) and Dennis wrote it after a visit we had had about my early years as a little grade schooler in California,” Mandrell told CMT as reported by American Songwriter. “I was doing live television on a Saturday night and going back to school on Monday morning and being teased about that hillbilly music. Just things of that nature, little stories.”

Fleming said the idea for the song struck her immediately. “I’m looking around like, ‘Anybody hear that?’” Fleming said of the inspiration for "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool."

Fleming added, “I did at that moment think, ‘Wow, this could be really corny. It could be really good. So let’s take our time with it.’”

The song was a smash and spoke to millions of listeners who resonated with the song's heartfelt lyrics. It quickly became an anthem for fans who proudly embraced their love of country music.

The song hailed from Mandrell's album, Barbara Mandrell Live. Other hit songs include "Till You're Gone" and "One of a Kind Pair of Fools." The Country Music Hall of Famer is noted for 27 studio albums. Of these, seven reached the top 10.

Barbara Mandrell walked away from country music after a final performance at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, in October 1997. According to The Tennessean, she hasn't performed live since retiring.

Artemis II Astronauts Share Breathtaking Earth Photos

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 5:06pm

NASA’s Artemis II mission lifted off on April 1, marking the first time NASA has sent astronauts to the moon since 1972. Today, they shared their first photos of Earth.

Artemis II Commander, Reid Wiseman, shared four photos of Earth that NASA posted on their website and Instagram.

The first photo shows “One-third of Earth peeking through the window of the Orion capsule,” NASA posted. “The planet is a dreamy pale blue, swirling with white clouds and reflected sunlight. Although Earth only fills a fraction of the image it is the brightest object in the image by far.”

The second photo is “A full disk image of Earth, as seen from the Orion capsule,” NASA said. “The planet is a pale blue, swirling with white clouds and glowing slightly lighter blue in place from reflected light.”

View this post on Instagram

The two other photos from Wiseman were posted on NASA’s Instagram page a few hours later. In one of them, the divide between night and day, known as the terminator, can be seen cutting across the Earth. The other photo was taken from the Orion capsule, with sunlight illuminating from the limb of Earth.

Wiseman is on the Artemis II mission alongside Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch and CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen. Glover is the first Black astronaut to travel to deep space, and in a video call with ABC News, he said about Earth, “Trust us, you look amazing, you look beautiful, and from up here you also look like one thing… you're all one people."

As of 6 a.m. on Friday, April 3, Artemis II is over 70,000 miles away from Earth. Their 10-day mission has the astronauts traveling at 4,880 miles per hour, and currently, they have over 180,000 miles left to go before they reach the moon.

According to USA Today, the crew will be conducting “safety demonstrations such as CPR and evaluation of the medical kit” today. They will also run through “the observations they plan to make of the lunar surface.”

The crew is scheduled to return to Earth on April 10. They will splash down in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego, California. The official broadcast of the Artemis II launch is still available to watch on NASA’s YouTube:

Tom Holland Gives Candid Take on Zendaya’s New Movie

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 4:59pm

Zendaya’s latest movie, The Drama, was released to theaters today, and Tom Holland can’t help but show his support.

In a recent Instagram story, the Spider-Man actor posted, “The Drama is out today. I couldn’t be more excited!”

On March 21, Holland also posted a photo of The Drama poster, along with a clip of the trailer.

“I honestly couldn’t be more excited for you to see this movie and believe me when I say it’s gonna floor you,” Holland posted. “Get your tickets now!”

View this post on Instagram

With over 4 million likes, fans have been buzzing over Holland’s supportive post.

“His wife’s biggest cheerleader,” one fan commented. “As he should be.”

Another fan joked, “Could you guys adopt me?”

Since Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, claimed that Zendaya and Holland privately got married, speculation has been running rampant that the couple did, in fact, tie the knot. However, in a recent interview with The New York Times’ Modern Love podcast, Zendaya explained why she won’t reveal if she’s married yet.

"There is a level of a parasocial investment in my personal relationship, which I understand, and I'm aware that I'm a public person, and so is he," Zendaya said. "And I'm also aware that we've grown up in front of people, and we've done movies where we fall in love with each other, so I really do understand that. I don't want to dismiss that, like, 'Stay out of my business,' or whatever."

She continued, saying that she’s a private person, and while she and Holland try not to hide themselves, they want to “preserve things for [themselves]” to maintain joy within themselves and their family.

Holland’s public excitement for Zendaya’s The Drama comes on the heels of the release of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. In it, Spider-Man is longing to rekindle the flame between himself and MJ (portrayed by Zendaya). The film will be released in theaters on July 31. Watch the trailer here:

Josh Duhamel’s Kids Can’t Get Enough of These Trader Joe’s Treats

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 4:49pm

Actor Josh Duhamel’s family may be famous, but they’re kind of just like us. While dad is a celeb well-known for roles in Ransom Canyon, Safe Haven, Las Vegas, and Transformers, he also enjoys some fan-favorite Trader Joe’s treats.

Duhamel recently took to Instagram, posting what he captioned, “Family taste test after a Trader Joe’s grocery haul.” The actor made it clear that this wasn’t just another influencer moment courtesy of a paid celebrity. Wagging his finger, he says, “We’re not sponsored by Trader Joe’s, they’re not paying us.” In the background, you can hear his 12-year-old son, Axl (with ex-wife Fergie), shout, “Yet!”

View this post on Instagram

As the camera starts rolling, Duhamel’s younger son, two-year-old Shepherd Lawrence Duhamel (with his current wife, model Audra Mari) cutely interrupts dad in the masterful way only a true toddler could.

The family starts with TJ’s sweet springtime snack, the sprinkle-covered Pinks & Whites. Duhamel explains, “One is not good, five is great.” Axl takes a tween-sized bite (in other words, a stuffed mouthful) of the cookies and gives the treats a solid four. Mom/stepmom Mari only gives the frosted flowers a three. Duhamel goes lower, giving the Trader Joe’s snack a 2.5. Then the camera turns to Shepherd, who says, “I like it!”

Next up? Trader Joe’s Chocolate Truffle Eggs. Axl unwraps the foil, tries an egg, and gives it a 2.5, Mari rates it as a two, Duhamel says a 4.5, and Shepherd sweetly smiles (clearly enjoying the chocolate Easter treat).

The family moves on to TJ’s Bamba. Even though Axl calls it “Pretty weird,” he still gives the stuffed peanut and corn snacks a 3.5. Mari agrees with his assessment, and Duhamel says he “likes it very much,” giving it a four.

Fans flocked to Duhamel’s post, raving about the clip. One commenter gushed, “The little one going, “I like it” is everything!”, while another wrote, “Will this family taste test become a regular thing on social media? Because I can't wait to see the next episode!”

Along with comments about TJ’s tasty treats, one fan remarked, “Wow, Axl looks so much like his mom now!” Of course, his mom is Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie. Duhamel recently opened up on The Megyn Kelly Show, talking about the demise of his past relationship, “She was a massive star at the time. It was a big adjustment for me.” He went on to say, “It’s probably my own ego more than anything…I don’t think it bugged her as much as it probably did me...suddenly you’re in that shadow.”

1974 Career-Defining Classic Was No. 1 Hit Song 52 Years Ago Today

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 4:39pm

In 1974, Charlie Rich released a song that would become one of the most beloved hits of his career.

His single, "A Very Special Love Song," quickly climbed the charts, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and crossing over to the pop charts as well. The track's success helped solidify Rich's place as one of the defining voices of country music in the 1970s.

Known for blending country, pop and soul influences, Rich brought a smooth, emotional delivery to the song that set it apart from many of his contemporaries. "A Very Special Love Song" showcased his ability to connect with listeners through heartfelt lyrics and understated vocal power.

The song arrived during a peak period in Rich's career, following the success of other major hits that helped him earn the nickname "The Silver Fox"” His crossover appeal allowed him to reach a wide audience, bridging the gap between country and mainstream pop music.

"I traveled with country music folk and played country music shows and auditoriums," Rich told Terry Gross in a 1992 interview. "I liked country music but that wasn't all that I liked. And I still think there's some great country records out there and some good things come out of country music. I just can't seem to just stay in one particular thing because I kind of - I feel like it kind of makes me stale if I try to stay in one particular category. And so I venture out on a lot of new things. Some work, some don't."

At its core, the song is a romantic ballad that leans into sincerity and simplicity, capturing the feeling of deep, enduring love. That emotional clarity helped it resonate with audiences and contributed to its lasting popularity.

More than five decades later, "A Very Special Love Song" remains a standout in Charlie Rich's catalog, a career-defining classic that continues to be celebrated as one of the era’s most memorable country hits.

Clint Eastwood Turns 96 Next Month and Is Reportedly Done With Hollywood for Good

Fri, 04/03/2026 - 4:21pm

Clint Eastwood is one of the most celebrated filmmakers and actors in Hollywood history—and by all accounts, he couldn't care less about any of that right now.

The legendary director and actor, who turns 96 in May, has quietly stepped away from the industry, and a source close to him says the transition has been entirely intentional. "His filmmaking days are finally over," the source exclusively told Closer Weekly in an article shared Friday, April 3. "Clint's main hobbies now are playing piano and making art for himself."

According to the source, Eastwood has been splitting his time between homes on the California coast and Hawaii, far from the Hollywood circles he once was a part of. "He's retreated to his beautiful homes far away from Tinseltown, and he doesn't seem interested at all with saying a grand goodbye or even looking back on the library of unforgettable films he has made," the source noted. "Being famous doesn't mean anything to him anymore."

The source added that, "his legacy will be celebrated forever. He's brought joy and entertainment to a lot of people."

Eastwood himself addressed retirement speculation last year, pushing back on a reported interview with Austrian publication Kurier in which he allegedly said he had no plans to retire. He revealed to Deadline: “I thought I would set the record straight.  I can confirm I’ve turned 95. I can also confirm that I never gave an interview to an Austrian publication called Kurier, or any other writer in recent weeks, and that the interview is entirely phony.”

Eastwood first appeared onscreen in 1955 and went on to build an impressive resume—from iconic roles in Dirty Harry and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to directing celebrated films like Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino. His last project, Juror No. 2, was released in 2024 when he was 94 years old.
