Built around a two-word philosophy, “Let Them,” Robbins’ book teaches readers to stop wasting time on other people’s behaviors and focus on the only thing they can control: themselves.

The theory of “Let Them” originated in 2022, when poet and author Cassie Phillips posted a poem with a similar message to social media. Feeling isolated, she turned to her computer and wrote several lines of imperative thinking like, “If they want to go weeks without talking to you, LET THEM.”

The writing was an attempt to “get through the day knowing I didn’t have anybody but myself,” Phillips told The Atlantic. She was “learning not to give up on other people, but understanding I had to trust myself.”

In a now viral video posted to Instagram, Robbins shared the moment she learned of the theory herself: “I just heard about this thing called the ‘Let Them Theory.’ I freaking love this.”

She continued, “If your friends are not inviting you out to brunch this weekend, let them. If the person you’re really attracted to isn't interested in a commitment, let them. If your kids do not want to get up and go to that thing with you this week, let them stay home. So much time and energy is wasted on forcing other people to match our expectations.”

She concludes the video with, “If they’re not showing up how you want them to show up, do not try to force them to change; let them be themselves because they are revealing who they are to you. Just let them—and then you get to choose what you do next.”

According to Bookshop.org, The Let Them Theory was the No. 1 nonfiction bestseller of 2025. It’s been translated into more than 65 languages and sold more than 10 million copies in its first year.

Prior to The Let Them Theory, Robbins had another viral sensation with The 5 Second Rule, a guide to enriching life and destroying doubt in just five seconds.

In addition to books, Robbins hosts her self-titled podcast, which is the most-shared and most-followed podcast in the world. In 2025, it was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, the world’s first ever for a podcast.

Actor Mandy Moore shared a candid look at her postpartum body on social media this week, giving her followers an unfiltered view of the physical changes that come with having three children in rapid succession.

The 42-year-old This Is Us star posted a video to her Instagram Story on July 16 that addressed her physical appearance. Wearing a crop top and leggings, Moore stood in front of a mirror and used her hands to pinch and rub her stomach, highlighting the area for her followers.

“After 3 kids in 3 1/2 years, this is what my body is….” Moore wrote in the caption overlaying the clip. “Loose skin and all.”

Moore shares three children with her husband, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith. The couple’s family includes five-year-old son Gus, three-year-old son Ozzie, and 21-month-old daughter Lou. Moore has spent the majority of the last five years navigating pregnancies, childbirth, and postpartum recovery.

Immediately following the mirror selfie, Moore uploaded a second video to her Instagram Story documenting her return to physical training. The footage showed the star inside a gym executing a high-intensity exercise circuit. In the clip, she jumps up to grip a pull-up bar, drops down onto a fitness box, completes an incline push-up against the surface of the box, and then immediately repeats the entire movement sequence.

Moore used the caption of the workout video to clarify her perspective on fitness, explicitly stating that her goal is consistency and longevity rather than athletic perfection. "Also, I’m super awkward and not a natural athlete,” Moore wrote alongside the training footage, “but I’m committed to getting stronger for the long run.”

The social media updates are part of an ongoing trend for Moore, who has frequently used her platform to document the daily realities of motherhood, including both the physical adjustments and the logistical challenges of raising three toddlers.

Later in the same day's string of posts, Moore shared an additional text slide detailing a humorous, unscripted interaction she had with her oldest son, Gus, highlighting the good-natured, lighthearted banter of her household. “On our way to camp this morning, Gus asked me if I was going to die before dad because I’m older than him. BURN,”  wrote Moore. The Walk to Remember star continued, “I told him I’m only a year older than @taylordawesgoldsmith, geez.”

Megan Fox recently posted a racy lingerie shoot that has fans thinking it’s a preview for Jennifer’s Body 2. And while the overwhelming majority of Fox’s fans praised the jaw-droppingly stunning pics, one critic had something pretty harsh to say.

Along with comments such as, “The most beautiful woman on earth” and “Beautiful dark angel,” one person seemingly trolled the actress, writing, “This sh** is so unbelievably embarrassing for a 40 year old mom to be posting. 16 year old tublr sh**.”

Yes, Fox is 40. And yes, Fox is a mom. She has four children, Noah (born in 2012), Bodi (born in 2014), and Journey (born in 2016) with ex-husband Brian Austin Green and one-year-old Saga Blade Fox-Baker (born in 2025) with ex-fiancé Machine Gun Kelly. But “unbelievably embarrassing?” It doesn’t look like anyone, including Megan, agrees.

The actress clapped back at her critic with a one-two punch to the Internet troll and her past beaus, replying, “Which one of my exes is this.” And of course, plenty of her supporters chimed in with their own take: “I genuinely don’t think she would care about what you think,” and “Not as embarrassing as a grown man creating troll accounts to pester celebrities.” 

One commenter pointed out, “Her being 40 means she has to wear turtleneck sweaters and granny panties? Is she supposed to seclude herself in her basement, knitting sweaters while drinking prune juice? You’re acting like she’s 80,” while others added, “When a 40 yr old mother of four children looks like that, well duh yes 100%” and, “Age has nothing to do with how you dress or express yourself through artistic outlets. Once you become a mom and get to 40, you don’t have to now start wearing ugly unflattering clothes and stay at home with your only activities being collecting knick-knacks and following conspiracy theories on Facebook.”

Even though there’s no debate on Megan looking absolutely amazing in these pics, some fans questioned whether the carousel of scholarship snapshots was actually a promo for her upcoming film. When one commenter asked, “Is this a Jennifer’s Body 2 tease?” Megan responded directly to the question with a person shrugging emoji and a hand over the mouth emoji.

Last October, when rumors that Diablo Cody would write a script for the sequel, Jennifer’s Body director Karyn Kusama told Deadline, “I know she’s working on it right now, and I’m very excited to hear what comes of it.” Earlier this week, other entertainment news outlets reported that Jennifer’s Body 2 (starring Fox and Amanda Seyfried) could start shooting this coming October. 

In celebration of her ‘Loveland’ album release, ethereal indie rock songstress Suki Waterhouse sat down with Teen Vogue to discuss the songs that shaped her life. With her perfect shag and vintage style, you’d expect to hear “You Don’t Own Me” by Leslie Gore on the Playlist of My Life series but Sisqó and Lil Jon? Color us surprised (and impressed.)

Looking back on her school dance memories in England, Waterhouse recalled that the early 2000s soundtrack included "Thong Song," along with Chingy's "Right Thurr," Lil Jon's "Get Low" and Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me." "I feel like Lil Jon's 'Get Low' just allowed you to really come out of your shell," she said.

When asked to name her "main character" song, Waterhouse didn't hesitate, choosing Leslie Gore's feminist anthem "You Don't Own Me." "That's very main character energy," she explained. She also cited No Doubt's "Just a Girl" as another defining track, noting that Gwen Stefani's influence even found its way into her own songwriting. Waterhouse pointed out that her song "Notting Hill" references the famous movie quote, "I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her."

For heartbreak, Waterhouse picked Fiona Apple and Elvis Costello's live performance of "I Want You," calling it "the most heart-wrenching performance of Fiona Apple's I've ever seen."

She also shouted out Gabrielle's "Dreams," Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You," and artists including Sharon Van Etten, Cat Power, Lucinda Williams and Ani DiFranco as major musical influences. And if she ever had to walk into a boxing match? Waterhouse already has the perfect entrance music picked out. "I'd probably be doing it to 'I'm Really, Really Hot' by Missy Elliott," she joked. "That would be pretty scary to my opponent, I think."

Waterhouse's new album, Loveland, is out now, and the singer is also preparing to hit the road on tour. No Doubt, fans can only hope some of these iconic songs make their way into a future setlist.

Nikolai Timofeevich Zhilyakov, 79, survived being stranded alone in the Russian wilderness for nine days after a routine fishing trip turned into a fight for survival.

Zhilyakov went fishing in a forested area of Sakhalin Island, in eastern Russia, on July 6, according to Russian outlets ASTV, Rg.ru, and Izvestia, which cited the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations. When he failed to return, a multi-agency search effort was launched after his car was later found abandoned in the area.

Nine days later, on July 15, volunteers assisting with the search located Zhilyakov on the bank of the Pilevka River, roughly half a mile from where his car had been left. According to the outlets, he had tried to cut his own way out of the dense forest, but was ultimately unable to find his way to safety on his own. The Ministry of Emergency Situations described him as "exhausted" at the time he was found.

Footage of the rescue shows crews scanning the riverbank with a search-and-rescue dog before carrying Zhilyakov out of the woods on a stretcher. In one clip, he can be seen drinking water with visibly shaky hands.

Zhilyakov's son, Vladimir Zhilyakov, thanked the rescue teams in a video message shared after his father was found safe. "Thank you all so much for the miraculous rescue of our dad," he said, according to ASTV. "May God grant you all good health and long life."

The Ministry of Emergency Situations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Wilderness rescues involving elderly hikers or anglers have made headlines before. In 2024, a Russian man survived 67 days adrift on a small boat in the Sea of Okhotsk, one of the coldest bodies of water in East Asia, though his brother and teenage son did not survive the ordeal. His wife later said his weight may have played a role in helping him endure the extreme conditions.

Britney Spears' son is weighing in on rumors that his mom has been cloned.

On Friday, July 17, Jayden James, 19, appeared to be riding in a car with one of his friends when they decided to go live on Instagram. Jayden's friend was reading some of the comments when someone asked if Jayden found it "silly" that people were spreading rumors about his mom not actually being alive.

"I hop on TikTok and I see this one video that has 1.2 million likes, and the caption is like, ‘The biggest theory ever: Is Britney Spears still alive?'" Jayden said during the livestream that was shared by a fan page on Instagram. "Like, bro, you can go to her page and see her right now."

"It makes me know that a lot of the stuff on media is exaggerated and fake," he stated. "People know how gullible people are, and they use that to their advantage. Anyone that sees it on media, they just see it and if it has a lot of likes, they [believe] it. They don’t even research it, they’re just, ‘Wow, yeah, it’s crazy. I believe it," he continued.

Jayden rarely speaks publicly about his mother—or anything, for that matter. He and his older brother, Sean Preston (who goes by Preston), have been shielded from the public eye for most of their lives. While the boys have made appearances on their mom's social media accounts over the years, those blips have been few and far between.

As far as the cloning rumors go, it's just one of the possible conspiracy theories that some fans have come up with to explain the pop star's erratic behavior, whether on social media or out in public.

Several fans—the majority who don't believe any of the clone theories—took to the comments section of the Instagram post to support Jayden's comments.

"He’s very well spoken, idk that I’ve heard him speak before. This might be the most randomly reassuring thing we’ve heard from anyone close to her in awhile. I feel bad that he and Sean Preston have to deal with all the bs," one person wrote.

"I mean they make valid points! All these conspiracy theories are ridiculous and so embarrassing," someone else said, adding, "Made up by crazy obsessed fans! As a huge fan myself, I don’t believe any of it. She’s not dead, she’s just living her life and doing what she wants! But somehow fans around the world can’t accept that and are only causing negative damage! I pray she doesn’t see half the crazy comments people post! Move on, let her just be!"

Both Jayden and Preston have spent much of their lives living with their dad, Kevin Federline, who moved to Hawaii in 2023. The boys have been spending more time with their mom lately, however, as evidenced by her own social media posts.

What is The Hawk About?

Ferrell stars in his new Netflix series, The Hawk. Playing golfer Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, Ferrell appeared in the teaser trailer for The Hawk in a hot pink golf shirt with bright blonde curly hair that sticks out of a visor bearing his name. A voice-over can be heard saying, “This summer, a legend returns. An icon. A champion. An American hero.” As Hawkins mouths along, the voice-over continues: “His name: Lonnie ‘The Hawk’ Hawkins.”

Hawkins continues by saying, “That’s me. I’m him. That’s who they’re talking about. If you were wondering.”

The show debuted on July 16, and the official description of the series reads as follows:

“Lonnie’s return to the world stage comes more than two decades after his seminal 2004 season. He’s bringing along his entire entourage: son Lance, a pro golfer in his own right; estranged wife Stacy; Lance’s fiancée, social-media influencer Natalie; and new caddie Sam. Who Does Ferrell Star With in the Series?

Ferrell, who has an endless array of comedy films under his belt, including Old School, Anchorman, Step Brothers, and Elf, is making a big change with his turn to television with The Hawk. However, he’s surrounding himself with several key players. When Netflix announced the new series, they also let out another exciting piece of news: The actor would reunite with his Saturday Night Live co-star, Molly Shannon, in the series. While the duo has reunited several times for film projects over the years, this is an exciting opportunity to see them together on the TV screen once again. The 10-episode comedy series, which is Ferrell’s first, will also star Shannon as his estranged wife, Stacy. Word on the web is that fellow SNL alum Chris Parnell (that’s Dr. Leo Spaceman for our fellow 30 Rock fans) will also appear, as will Luke Wilson and Fortune Feimster.

Maintaining a heart-healthy diet is easiest when you can prepare your meals at home. That way, you have complete control over the ingredients, including how much salt is added. If you have high blood pressure, eating out can feel like navigating a minefield. It’s hard to know how much sodium is actually in the entree you’re considering.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, foods from fast food restaurants contain an average of 1,848 milligrams of sodium per 1,000 calories. It’s even worse when it comes to dine-in restaurant food. Foods from dine-in restaurants have an average of 2,090 milligrams of sodium per 1,000 calories. To put that in perspective, the U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend keeping sodium under 2,300 milligrams a day because too much sodium increases blood pressure.

It’s unrealistic to plan on eating all of your meals at home. You still want to be able to enjoy dinners out with loved ones. Sometimes—especially when you’re traveling—fast food is your only option. With that in mind, Parade spoke with cardiologists about what people with high blood pressure should keep in mind when ordering at fast food restaurants.

Why Diet Is Still Important Even if You’re Taking a Blood Pressure-Lowering Medication

If you’re taking medication to lower your blood pressure, you may be wondering why you have to consider your diet at all. Isn’t it the medication’s job to lower your blood pressure? “Most high blood pressure is controlled rather than permanently ‘reversed,’ and medication is only one part of that control. I tell patients that blood pressure medicine is not a permission slip to ignore diet,” says Dr. Weston Hickey, MD, FACC, FSCAI, a cardiologist with Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates in Houston, Texas.  

Dr. Hickey explains that while medication can help keep blood pressure levels in check, as soon as someone stops taking it, levels will go back up. “Think of it less like an antibiotic that clears an infection and more like a thermostat quietly holding the temperature down,” he says. “Treating high blood pressure with medication while ignoring your diet is like turning on the air conditioning during a Texas summer but leaving all the doors and windows wide open. The medication is working hard to lower the pressure, but a high-sodium, highly processed diet is actively pushing it back up.”

Dr. Alex Gyftopoulos, MD, a preventive cardiologist at the University of Maryland Medical Center and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, points out that maintaining a heart-healthy diet helps prevent obesity and high cholesterol, two other important parts of caring for your heart that a blood pressure-lowering medication doesn’t address.

The Worst Fast Food Items for High Blood Pressure

Unfortunately, most foods on fast food restaurant menus aren’t exactly great for heart health—or health in general. Dr. Gyftopoulos says that the worst foods for high blood pressure include anything highly processed and high in sodium. 

Dr. Hickey agrees.

“The single biggest offender in fast food is sodium, and it's largely hidden. Salt acts like a sponge in your bloodstream. Where sodium goes, water follows, so a high-salt meal pulls extra fluid into your blood vessels. More fluid in the same set of pipes means more pressure pushing against the walls—that's your blood pressure rising,” he says.

While you probably already know that means skipping the French fries, some highly salted foods that many people may overlook include burger buns, cheese, pickles, seasoning on meat and breading on fried food, Dr. Hickey says, adding that fast food items that include refined carbs, saturated fat and sugar are also important to minimize. That means skipping items like breaded chicken nuggets, burgers and soda.

What To Eat Instead 

Want a fast food order that’s cardiologist-approved? Here are five options to consider.

1. Salad, without the dressing

Most fast food restaurants do offer salads, offering a healthier alternative to the burger-and-fries combos. “Diets rich in fresh vegetables support healthy blood pressure,” Dr. Gyftopoulos says of why salad is a great fast food option for people with hypertension.

If you can, Dr. Hickey suggests adding heart-healthy foods like grilled chicken, avocado, beans, nuts or seeds. He points out that beans, avocado, nuts and seeds all have potassium, which helps balance out sodium.

When ordering your salad, both cardiologists say to skip the dressing, which is often high in sodium or sugar. If a naked salad sounds unappetizing to you, Dr. Hickey recommends having the dressing on the side, which is a way to control how much you consume. And if you can choose between an oily dressing and a creamy one, go for the oily option.

2. Burrito or burrito bowl 

Taco Bell or Chipotle can be great fast food options when it comes to eating for heart health. “Beans are a good source of protein and fiber, which can be an important part of a healthy diet,” Dr. Gyftopoulos says, and Dr. Hickey adds to this, calling beans a superfood for blood pressure.

Even though bean-based entrees are heart-healthy, many can still be high in sodium. Dr. Gyftopoulos points out that most fast food restaurants provide nutrition information in-store or online, which is worth giving a read and checking out the sodium before ordering.

If you’re building a burrito bowl, Dr. Hickey recommends making beans the foundation and adding veggies, grilled chicken and fresh salsa or pico de gallo, which has less sodium than salsa that isn’t freshly made. When making your bowl, he says to skip the sour cream and cheese, which can be high in saturated fat and sodium.

3. Grilled chicken nuggets

If you’re a chicken nugget lover, it’s worth seeking out a Chick-fil-A to satisfy your craving. It’s one of the few fast food restaurants that offers grilled nuggets instead of ones that are breaded.

“Choosing grilled chicken over fried is one of the easiest and most effective swaps you can make at a drive-thru. When chicken is breaded and fried, it acts like a sponge for unhealthy saturated and trans fats, and the breading itself is heavily salted. Grilled chicken bypasses the fryer oil and the salty crust, drastically reducing both the sodium content and the inflammatory fats that stiffen blood vessels over time,” Dr. Hickey says.

When eating your nuggets, Dr. Hickey suggests just being mindful of the dipping sauces, which can be high in sodium.

4. Grilled chicken sandwich 

Nowhere near a Chick-fil-A? Grilled chicken sandwiches (found at fast food joints like Culver’s, Panera Bread and Subway) are the next best thing—especially if you can add lettuce and tomato. 

Dr. Gyftopolous explains that grilling uses less oil and other fats compared to frying, which makes grilled chicken sandwiches lower in calories than breaded chicken sandwiches. “This may better support the goal of maintaining a healthy body weight and, by extension, a healthy blood pressure,” he says.

5. Spinach feta wrap or egg bites

Starbucks’ spinach feta wrap and egg bites are both heart-healthy orders, according to both cardiologists. “Egg-based meals can be a better choice than pastries, doughnuts or breakfast sandwiches made with processed meat. Eggs provide protein and can improve satiety, while vegetables such as spinach, kale, mushrooms and peppers add fiber and beneficial nutrients,” Dr. Hickey says.

As with other fast food items, both cardiologists say that these egg-based foods can still be high in sodium, so it’s a good idea to check the nutrition panel online if it’s not available in stores. 

Tips for ordering

When it comes to navigating fast food restaurants while trying to support your blood pressure, Dr. Hickey says to focus on these five guidelines: 

1. Choose grilled instead of fried.
2. Get sauces and dressings on the side.
3. Drink water instead of soda.
4. Add vegetables or beans.
5. Skip the extra cheese and processed meat.

“Those five decisions can travel with you to any restaurant, from fast food to fine dining,” he says. And they’re good guidelines to follow for everyone, not just people with high blood pressure.

Around 9 a.m. Eastern on Thursday, July 16, a man was able to get past security at 30 Rockefeller Center and make his way toward the Today set. That individual, identified as Andrew Truelove, was reportedly looking for longtime weatherman Al Roker. When he couldn't find Roker, Truelove allegedly lunged toward anchor Craig Melvin and hurled a racial slur at him, according to TMZ. He was taken into custody and is now facing hate crime charges, per the report.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

"There was a security incident this morning at the TODAY show studio. An individual entered an unauthorized area in a vestibule near Studio 1A," a spokesperson for Today said in a statement. "The person approached anchor Craig Melvin, who alerted security. The individual was detained and taken into custody by law enforcement without further incident. There was no altercation, and no one was injured."

Before the scary incident unfolded during the live broadcast, many believe they spotted Truelove hanging out on the plaza in the area directly behind where Savannah Guthrie was sitting. According to TMZ, the man appeared to be pacing back and forth while smoking -- and was wearing the same clothes and had similar features as the man who was arrested a short time later.

The outlet confirmed that Truelove, 41, has a criminal record. He is facing 15 years in prison if convicted, per People. Both Melvin and Roker have been granted protective orders, according to the report.

"Thankfully, he was apprehended quickly, he was placed under arrest, we are cooperating fully with NYPD as they investigate the matter, and we are just very happy that everyone is safe," Melvin said after the incident.

Truelove is due in court on July 22.

Determined to change that, she creates a 30-day plan to finally lose her virginity, only to discover that finding love may require confronting herself first.

"I think we went through a really amazing era where we had really sexually empowered, confident female leads, which is amazing, and I love reading about them," Averick told Audible. "But I also can't relate to them, necessarily. I am somebody who's really anxious when it comes to dating and I'm not confident in that area, and I was waiting for that character to come along. Then it just got to a point where I was like, 'Oh, I'm going to write it myself.' And so that's how Phoebe was born."

Shortly after publication, Netflix announced plans to adapt Phoebe Berman's Gonna Lose It into a feature film, with Averick serving as an executive producer. The adaptation will be written by Sarah Heyward, though casting and a release date have not yet been announced.

Christopher Nolan’sThe Odyssey is wasting no time proving it can conquer the box office.

The star-studded mythological epic earned an estimated $51.2 million from North American theaters on Friday, July 17, and that’s including Thursday preview screenings, multiple outlets report. It is now projected to bring in more than $120 million domestically over its opening weekend, outperforming initial expectations that placed its debut between roughly $85 million and $100 million.

Should those projections hold, The Odyssey will score the biggest live-action opening of 2026 so far. Only the animated blockbusters Toy Story 5 ($160 million) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($131 million) have posted bigger opening weekends this year.

Overseas audiences are showing up, too. The movie is expected to earn approximately $137.3 million across 73 international markets, potentially bringing its worldwide opening toa whopping $258 million. That would surpass The Dark Knight Rises as Nolan’s biggest global debut.

Matt Damonstars as Odysseus, whose dangerous journey home following the Trojan War places him against monsters, gods and seemingly endless obstacles. The sprawling cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film is also off to a great star ratings wise. Currently, The Odyssey has a Tomatometer rating of 95 percent and a Popcornmeter rating of 97 percent.

“A grand and gripping rendition of Homer's epic, and one that feels uniquely Christopher Nolan,” one review on the site reads.

“Nolan’s adaptation draws notable parallels to our modern world, resurrecting this Greek epic into a thoughtful and timely film worth exploring from multiple different perspectives,” another notes.

A third review said, “You know that Nolan will deliver a technically sound, bombastic action showcase. Yet he still finds ways to surprise us after all these years.”

Even the movie’s music was built on an unusually epic scale. Composer Ludwig Göransson avoided relying solely on a traditional orchestra, instead researching instruments associated with ancient Greece. “It’s not like the orchestra existed back then,” he explained to Time Magazine. “It was a challenge and also an opening to try to make something unique.”

Göransson incorporated sounds from the lyre and aulos, along with 35 bronze gongs chosen to reflect the story’s Bronze Age setting. He then layered those instruments with synthesizers and recorded himself striking scrap metal, railings and other everyday objects in search of the right percussion.

The Odyssey is available to watch only in theaters now.

Though many may not know his name, many will recognize his face, especially since he was on many TV screens throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Britt Leach is best known for his character work, playing funny, blue-collar workers and tough cops in classic 1970s and 1980s movies. He is best known for his work on The Great Outdoors, playing Reg, a man who was struck by lightning 66 times, playing Anthony Michael Hall's plumber dad in the show Weird Science and his recurring role as Easy Jackson in The Waltons. In addition, he guest-starred on various hit shows like The Brady Bunch, Murder, She Wrote, Sanford and Son, The Partridge Family and more.

Leach was born on July 18, 1938, in Gadsden, Alabama, before attending college at Northwestern University in Illinois, but he didn't finish and instead worked in Army intelligence. Throughout his college years at Birmingham Southern College and Northwestern, he was very active in college theater.

He started his acting career in the early 1970s, making various appearances in various TV shows and movies, including Jackson County Jail, Night Warning, Silent Night, Deadly Night, The Last Starfighter, Weird Science and The Great Outdoors. In the fall of 1976, Leach was cast in the role of airplane mechanic Mickey "Wig" Wiggins in the CBS adventure series Spencer's Pilots, starring Gene Evans, Christopher Stone and Todd Susman.

His last role in a movie was in Father of the Bride, where he played a supermarket assistant manager who confronts Steve Martin's character for making a scene in the grocery store and has him imprisoned for it. He left acting altogether in the early 1990s and became a co-editor and publisher for Country Connections, a magazine that covered ecology, politics and environmental and progressive social issues.

After Country Connections shut down due to a lack of funds, Leach started writing poetry and became a freelance writer for various sites. In an interview from 2014, Leach told Kickin' it Old School that he and his wife, Catherine, left Los Angeles and moved to the mountains up north. Catherine is a photographer and they raise a cat named Alex. In an interview in 1987, Leach revealed that he and Catherine have two kids together, and is now a grandfather.

A year after his passing, Birmingham isn't ready to say goodbye to its most famous son. The city has announced plans to honor Ozzy Osbourne with its first-ever "Ozzy Day" on July 22, marking the anniversary of the Black Sabbath frontman's death. According to Rolling Stone, the day will feature a "free program of live music, public art, special performances and shared moments" celebrating Osbourne's life and deep roots in the city, effectively turning Birmingham into what officials describe as "a living tribute" to the Aston-born rock legend. It's a fitting next chapter for a city that's long embraced its connection to Osbourne, from the Black Sabbath Bench to murals scattered throughout town - proof that his influence never really faded to black.

The day's lineup includes pop-up performances from the Bostin Brass band, who played in Osbourne's 2025 funeral procession, alongside a lunchtime concert from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The Birmingham Music Archive and OPUS (Outdoor Places Unusual Spaces) are also set to share tributes and short films spotlighting Osbourne's ties to the city that shaped him. Fans can pick up a limited-edition shirt sold only on Ozzy Day, featuring an image from his Back to the Beginning farewell concert, with all 52 Birmingham shows he played (both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist) listed on the back.

"Ozzy Osbourne is one of Birmingham's foremost cultural figures, and we continue to honour his legacy here in the city, where his journey began," City Councillor Deborah Harries, the city's Cabinet Member for Culture, said in a statement. She noted that Black Sabbath's own connection to Birmingham was formally recognized when the band received Freedom of the City in June 2025, adding that the anniversary events give residents and visitors alike a chance to celebrate the legacy while highlighting the creativity that makes the city, in her words, so special.

Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, following a heart attack at age 76, just 17 days after taking the stage for his emotional Back to the Beginning farewell show in the very city now honoring him. A year later, it's clear Birmingham isn't just remembering its Prince of Darkness, it's making sure his legacy won’t ever be forgotten.

Christopher Nolan has no problem getting by without a device nearly everyone owns. Despite being one of Hollywood’s busiest directors, Nolan still manages to get his job done without carrying a cellphone around with him.

Matt Damon, who stars in Nolan’s new film The Odyssey, spoke out about the writer’s traditional way of doing business while discussing the film with People, sharing that it’s Nolan’s wife, Emma Thomas, who alerts people that her husband is going to call them.

Recalling how he found out that Nolan wanted him to be a part of the movie, Damon shared that Thomas sent him a text that read, “‘Are you around for a call today?’”

“Because Chris famously doesn’t have a phone,” he added, explaining that it’s Thomas who is "always" the one to give actors a heads-up that Nolan's going to call. “And then you get a phone call from a nondescript number, because he’s just picking up a line at Universal Studios.”

Nolan spoke about his decision not to carry a cellphone — or communicate by email — during a July 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“My kids would probably say I’m a complete Luddite,” he told the outlet. “I would actually resist that description. I think technology and what it can provide is amazing. My personal choice is about how involved I get. It’s about the level of distraction. If I’m generating my material and writing my own scripts, being on a smartphone all day wouldn’t be very useful for me.”

Earlier this year, Nolan admitted that not carrying a smartphone has started to make things a bit trickier in 2026.

"The return of the QR code has been quite... quite tricky," he said during an appearance on 60 Minutes. "QR code had sort of gone away, but COVID brought it back and now it's kind of everywhere. And if you don't have a smartphone, you can't do much with a QR code."

More than two decades after forming, In This Moment is preparing to unleash its next chapter.

The Grammy-nominated metal band has announced its ninth studio album, Witch, which arrives Aug. 28 via Better Noise Music. Alongside the announcement, the group released the album's latest single, "Crawl," giving fans another taste of what’s to come.

Frontwoman Maria Brink described the new album as one of the band’s most personal and transformative releases to date.

"Witch is my declaration of inner transformation," frontwoman Maria Brink said in a statement. "It's about embracing the duality within—taking pain, persecution, and struggle—and alchemizing them into strength and power. The album reflects both ancient trials and my own journey, where being a 'witch' means being a creator, connected to the universe, manifesting my own reality."

The newly released single "Crawl" continues those themes.

Brink called the song "a reckoning," explaining that it reflects the belief that "those who dominate and cause pain will ultimately reap what they sow." Co-founder and guitarist Chris Howorth added that the track examines "powerful entities dominating and abusing the weaker and compromised masses," while ultimately delivering a message of resilience and standing up against oppression.

Witch follows 2023's Godmode and marks the band's first full-length release for Better Noise Music. The 11-track album will also feature guest appearances from Dayseeker, Kim Dracula, and Kat Von D, who joins the band for a cover of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall."

Formed in 2005 by Brink and Howorth, In This Moment has become one of modern metal's most recognizable acts thanks to its theatrical live shows and blend of heavy riffs, industrial textures, and melodic hooks. Over the years, the band has earned multiple platinum and gold certifications, amassed more than two billion career streams, and received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for "The In-Between."

The announcement continues a busy new era for the band, which previously previewed Witch with the single "Sleeping With the Enemy."

"With 'Sleeping With The Enemy' and our upcoming album, we're confronting the darkness — whether it's inside us or external," said Brink in a press release. "It's about looking that darkness in the face and transforming it into empowerment. We feel so exhilarated and ready to show the world what we've conjured up."

With "Crawl" now available and the album just weeks away, In This Moment is set to begin another chapter in a career that has steadily evolved over the past 21 years while remaining true to its signature blend of spectacle, vulnerability, and crushing metal.

Covers can give music lovers a new interpretation of the same lyrics. This happens because a music label gives the same song to multiple artists. That's a great thing if there are icons on their roster. Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley released covers of the same song before they left to pursue different genres.

Presley recorded "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" in 1955 at Sun Records. The country song's lyrics are from a tortured man who is missing a woman.

"I forgot to remember to forget her/I can't seem to get her off my mind/I thought I'd never miss her," the song starts.

The future King of Rock and Roll wasn't a fan of the song because of the genre. The love sick song became No. 1. He left Sun Records for RCA Records in 1955. Sun Records founder, Sam Phillips, explained their differences to NPR.

"But I can tell you, the only time that we possibly had what you might say a difference of opinion in what we were doing is that I really did not want to do some of the, quote-unquote, 'more poppish' things that Elvis truly did like," he said.

"But at the same time, he also had a certain intrigue about his voice, and I knew that, and I knew that we needed to feel our way around between great gutbucket blues and country," the founder later said.

Cash later recorded "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" and "Down the Street to 301" as his final songs at Sun Records. He left for Columbia Records in 1958 and continued to embrace country.

"I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone" inspired cowriter Stan Kesler to write Presley's first chart topper. That song is also about two people going their separate ways. However, the singer admits he didn't listen to someone's advice that they were too different to work.

"Most of my songs are the love songs, the hurting tear-jerkers," Kesler told Commercial Appeal in 2014. He also described his inspiration as "They just bubble up like boiling water sometimes, and I have to do something with them."

Cash and Presley's connection lasted beyond their career's starting point. They were different artists but admired each other.

Josh Kerr just rewrote the record books in one of track and field's most storied events.

The British runner clocked 3 minutes, 42.66 seconds in the mile at a Diamond League meet in London on Saturday, breaking a world record that had stood since 1999. The previous mark, 3:43.13, belonged to Moroccan runner Hicham El Guerrouj, set nearly three decades earlier in Rome.

Kerr, 28, finished more than three seconds ahead of the field, with American Yared Nuguse crossing next in 3:45.69. Afterward, the Edinburgh native took a celebratory lap around London Stadium.

Kerr described the final stretch of the race as an out-of-body experience. "It was just me, my shoes and the track," he told the BBC. "I was absolutely deaf in that last 110 meters." He said he could feel himself easing up near the finish line, in the best possible way. "I started to glide, and I was like, 'Oh wow, this feels incredible,'" he said, adding that simply seeing "42-something" on the clock as he crossed the line was exactly the goal he'd set for himself.

The record breaks Kerr's own previous personal best of 3:45.34, set in 2024, by nearly three full seconds. Ahead of the race, Kerr told Yahoo Sports he felt ready for the moment: "My body is capable of the mark, and so my job tomorrow is to have my mind to be available to let my body do its job."

Behind the scenes, Kerr's preparation reportedly had a name: "Project 222," a nod to the 222 seconds it would take to break the record. His sponsor, Brooks, built him a custom racing suit designed with laser-cut perforations to manage heat and humidity, along with a pair of spikes engineered around Kerr's specific running mechanics, including his stride pattern and push-off style.

The mile isn't an Olympic or World Championship event, but it holds a legendary place in track history, most notably as the distance Roger Bannister famously broke the four-minute barrier in back in 1954, another milestone credited to a British runner.

On February 3, 1959, iconic American musicians BuddyHolly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper were involved in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, with pilot Roger Peterson. All four were killed in the crash.

Singer and songwriter Don McLean was a 13-year-old newspaper delivery boy at the time of the fatal accident saying, "I first found out about the plane crash because I was a 13-year-old newspaper delivery boy in New Rochelle, New York, and I was carrying the bundle of the local 'Standard-Star 'papers that were bound in twine, and when I cut it open with a knife, there it was on the front page."

Inspired by the iconic deaths, McLean wrote a song about "the day the music died" for his 1971 album of the same name, "American Pie."

"American Pie" is not solely about the deaths of the lauded musicians. The lyrics also speak to McLean's mourning of his childhood heroes and the loss of innocence of his generation. For many years, McLean declined to explain the lyrics, explicitly saying, "They're beyond analysis. They're poetry."

In 2022, when celebrating the song's 50th anniversary, McLean explained the song was heavily influenced by impressionism and the changing of society that took place throughout the 1950s and 1960s.

The album length of "American Pie" clocks in at 8 minutes and 42 seconds, with the radio/single versions both being just over 4 minutes. At the time of release in 1971, McLean's full version was the longest song to enter the Billboard Hot 100. For more than 50 years, it held the record for being the longest song to reach No. 1, with the record being broken by Taylor Swift's "All Too Well (10-Minute Version)" in 2021.

In 2017, McLean's original recording of "American Pie" was selected for preservation by the Library of Congress. Additionally, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002, and the RIAA ranks it as the 5th greatest song of the 20th century.

While the interpretation of the song has been up for debate for decades, the legacy of "American Pie" is undeniable.
