This Pop Rock Song About Mick Jagger Surged to No. 1 — And Still Gets Played Today
These days, Adam Levine can be spotted in a cozy chair as a returning coach for The Voice.
His pop rock band Maroon 5 is also keeping busy after all these years, continuing to churn out new tunes such as "Heroine," released last month.
But Sunday, June 21 marks exactly 15 years since one of their biggest hits dropped, with both a chorus and a title that shout out a current rock god.
"Moves Like Jagger" surged to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart back in 2011 and was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 54th Grammy Awards (since it features Christina Aguilera). As fans will recall, the lyrics refer to a guy's ability to impress a female with his dance moves, which he compares to those of Jagger, 82.
The song marked Maroon 5's second Hot 100 No. 1, Billboard noted back in 2011. The band previously reigned for three weeks in 2007 with “Makes Me Wonder.”
For Aguilera, 45, the return to the Billboard chart’s apex ended a long hiatus, given that she had last ruled alongside Lil’ Kim, Mya and P!nk on “Lady Marmalade” for five weeks in 2001. “Moves Like Jagger” was Aguilera’s fifth Hot 100 No. 1. She banked three leaders from her self-titled debut album in 1999-2000:

- “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)”
Levine, 47, made headlines in April when he and his wife, Behati Prinsloo, walked the red carpet at the 12th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The couple posed for photos, which were eventually posted on the internet. 1973 No. 1 Hit Ruled the Summer Charts Just Weeks Before Its Singer's Tragic Death
Legendary singer-songwriter Jim Croce had one of the biggest songs of the summer in 1973, but less than two months after scoring his first No. 1 hit, he was dead.
The late icon released "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" in March 1973 as the lead single from his fourth studio album, Life and Times. It ended up becoming the biggest hit of his career, spending two weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 in July of that year.
Rolling Stone lists the Croce track at No. 7 on the "20 Biggest Songs of the Summer" throughout the entire '70s decade.
But just weeks after the song reached massive success, Croce tragically died at age 30 on Sept. 20, 1973. He and his small crew were taking a chartered plane out of a Louisiana airport after a concert when the plane crashed seconds after takeoff, killing all six people on board.
The day after his death, Croce's "I Got a Name" was released on Sept. 21 1973, and it had debuted on the Hot 100 by early October.

Despite its initial release as part of Croce's debut album You Don't Mess Around With Jim in 1972, "Time in a Bottle" was later released as a single in November 1973 in the wake of Croce's death, and ended up becoming the second song from his catalog to reach No. 1.
Before and after his death, Croce had a career total of five songs make the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, including "You Don't Mess With Jim" which peaked at No. 8, "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song" (No. 9), and "I Got a Name" (No. 10).

Nicole Kidman is keeping the focus on family this Father's Day.
The Oscar-winning actress surprised fans over the weekend when she shared a tribute to ex-husband Keith Urban, marking the first Father's Day since the former couple finalized their divorce earlier this year.
On Sunday, June 21, Kidman posted a pair of black-and-white throwback photos to her Instagram Stories celebrating the fathers in her life. One image showed Urban carrying their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, on his back when they were younger.
"Happy Father's Day to all the fathers," Kidman wrote across the photos, which also included a tribute to her late father, Dr. Antony Kidman, featuring a photo of him holding her as a young girl.

Kidman, 59, and Urban, 58, married in 2006 and were together for nearly two decades before announcing their separation in September 2025. Their divorce was officially finalized in January. According to court documents obtained by multiple outlets, the former couple cited "marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences" when filing to end their marriage.
The settlement established Kidman as the primary parent of the couple's two daughters, with Urban receiving parenting time every other weekend. The agreement also stated that neither party would pay alimony or spousal support, with both sides waiving those claims permanently.

In addition to Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15, the actress is also the mother to Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise. Kidman's Father's Day tribute did not mention Cruise.
Though Kidman and Urban have largely kept details of their post-divorce relationship private, she did offer a brief update on how she's moving forward in the months after their split. Speaking to Variety in March, Kidman said she's "doing all right" following what she described as a difficult year.
"I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward," Kidman said. "That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect."
’90s Country Legend Announces Free Live and At-Home Viewing for Farewell Concert
So, the Alan Jackson: Last Call - The Finale show is sold out. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to still see the show live next Saturday, June 27.
Just down the street from Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, where the country legend will take the stage for the last time, “serving up one more round before he retires from touring,” there’s a Jackson-inspired party going down with several venues airing a live broadcast of the Hall of Famer's soon-to-be-epic showcase, Saving Country Music reported.

Entry is free and open to the public; gates open at 4 p.m. And should you get hungry, AJ’s Good Time Bar, Jackson’s grub hub, is right down the street.
Option No. 2 might be a bit tougher, as space is limited. But the Country Music Hall of Fame is opening its CMA Theater up for country fans to watch the live feed. Tickets are free, but you do need to reserve them.
Another way to see the show is to go back to school, Belmont University, that is. The college is opening its Fisher Center to those looking to catch the live feed. Though this option is not free, proceeds go to a good cause: They will help launch the Alan Jackson Legacy endowed scholarship supporting aspiring musicians and artists of the future. There will also be a live band performing at this spot. Doors and pre-show open at 6:30 p.m. And there are plenty of tickets still available.

Don’t want to leave home at all? NBC has your back. The network is sending a camera crew to the concert to later package together a special to be broadcast and made available for streaming on Peacock. Air dates are still TBD.
Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finaleis the last full-length concert of Jackson’s touring career. It’s set for Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, which is also the home of the Tennessee Titans.
“We just felt like we had to end it all where it all started for me, and that’s in Nashville – Music City -- where country music lives,” Jackson said.

For decades, Journey fans have debated whether anyone could truly replace Steve Perry.
Nearly two decades after stepping into Steve Perry's shoes as Journey's lead singer, Arnel Pineda is speaking candidly about the comparisons he still faces from longtime fans. The frontman recently reflected on the pressure of performing the band's classic hits, admitting he's up against something no singer can ever fully match: fans' memories.
During a recent show, Pineda addressed the negativity on stage.
"P.S. my singing here may not be perfect. And for a lot of purists, it's a disrespect to the one and only voice, Steve Perry," he said, according to Steve Champagne. "But doing five shows a week can do quite a lot of damage, if you get what I'm saying."
Pineda — who joined the band in February 2008 — recently revealed that he tried to quit the band.
"I said to [Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain] I wanted to retire because of my personal problems. No answer," he explained in an interview with Rolling Stone published in March. "Obviously, they don’t want to find another singer."
According to the Filipino artist, he informed his bandmates that he intended to retire due to "personal issues."
"My personal problem really took a toll on me. That's why I wanted to prioritize my family. It's not that I hate touring with [Journey]. It's like the same thing that happened with Steve Perry. He has a hip problem," Pineda added. "Me, I have a personal problem that’s taking a toll on me. It's getting in my head, emotionally. I told them that I was a wreck and needed a little more time so that I could fix my family. But I still have to do this."

Pineda later took to social media to address the "purists" once again.
"As scared as i am from the start ‘til now (believe it or not) i did what’s asked of me to do on behalf of the band’s LEGACY..lots of mishaps, stumblings, shameful moments, gigantic self-doubt, imperfections and before we all knew it,18 and a half years has passed," he wrote in April, adding that he has been "chasing the shadows of greatness i’ll never be able to catch nor achieve."
He continued, "to the believers, #thankyou, to the non-believers, thank you still, to the purist who’s consistently dismissed me? i understand & thank you too…"

Wyndham Clark Wins the U.S. Open — and His Dad's Surprise Visit Steals the Show
Wyndham Clark just won the U.S. Open, and the pro golfer celebrated in a way that’s very fitting for the ‘day.’
The last day of the tournament coincided with Father’s Day. And that left almost no time for players like Clark to spend with their families. But now that the two-time champ (he won the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023) is finally getting the chance to celebrate with his dad.

Like his son, Randall Clark is also an athlete. Back in 2023 (at the U.S. Open), Clark said of his father, “He took me to tournaments. My dad played professional tennis. He is an athlete; he gets it. He instills hard work and discipline, and I feel like I have a lot of fieriness from him, so he has given me a lot. My dad is a big reason why I’m out here.”
The former tennis player had a major health scare in 2024. That September, Wyndham opened up about his father while at Pebble Beach, saying, “So my dad, it’s his 70th birthday. My dad, about 16, 17 weeks ago, had open heart surgery. It kind of put a lot of things in perspective. You know 70 is a big number to make it to, and all his friends are around the same age.”
He added, “So we brought out eight of his best friends, my brother and I, and we’re out here playing Spyglass and Pebble and enjoying ourselves. So, celebrate my dad.”

1977 No. 1 Hit Ranked Among the ‘Greatest Country Songs of All Time’ Was Inspired by a Beloved Dog
In June of 1977, Crystal Gayle released what would become her biggest major success with the teary-eyed ballad “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”
The classic country hit, written by Richard Leigh, who had penned a previous hit for Gayle, features a jazzy feel, a sway-worthy beat, gentle piano, and sweeping strings. Lyrically, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” finds Gayle regretfully crooning over a breakup while reflecting on the way she treated her once other half.
But it’s Gayle’s warm and silky set of vocals, which stand out over the dreamy accompaniment.
Despite her dramatically sultry vocals on the track, the tune wasn’t originally meant for Gayle. According toAmerican Songwriter, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” was initially penned for Welsh singer Shirley Bassey. Once it fell into Gayle’s hands, she felt the song belonged to her, and it only took a single take at Jack’s Tracks recording studio in Nashville to be ready for release.
“That was a first take,” Gayle told Billboardin a previous interview. “I did not re-sing it. It just fell into place, beginning with Pig Robbins‘ opening work on the piano. It was magic in the studio that day.”
Interestingly, the inspiration for the tune didn't come from a once-romantic relationship that seemingly fell apart, but rather from an experience the songwriter had with his pet dog, Amanda.
According toCountryThangDaily, Leigh came up with the idea for the song after noticing the color of his dog’s eyes — a detail confirmed by Gayle in a 2004 interview on Country Music Television. The story goes that Leigh’s pup had lost the color in one brown eye after a trash collector threw rocks at the four-legged friend, leaving the animal with one blue and one brown eye.
Belonging on her fourth studio album, We Must Believe In Magic, “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue” has gone on to become Gayle’s signature hit. The ballad topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, where it remained for four weeks, and also became a major pop crossover success, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also made a major impact overseas, becoming Gayle’s only Top 5 hit in the UK.
Additionally, the song won Gayle a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1978, and landed at No. 109 on Rolling Stone’s ranked list of 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time in 2024.
'Criminal Minds' Star Apologizes for Saying 'You Suck' After Criticism
Actors sometimes make their feelings known about negative reviews of their work. Paget Brewster played Emily Prentiss on Criminal Minds. She returned as the same character for Criminal Minds: Evolution, which is different from the network version of the show.
Brewster, 57, singled out a specific reviewer online. She then apologized the next day.

The critic writes for ScreenRant. Brewster also posted a selfie from her trailer that day. "I’m mostly at work every day. This is my trailer. Which I get because you guys watch @criminalminds. Thank you! Everyone in our crew thanks you. Have a beautiful weekend, my friends," she wrote before apologizing.

Country Music Legend's New Album Announced 24 Years After His Death
Country music legend Waylon Jennings is set to release a new album more than two decades after his death, giving fans another chance to hear previously unheard recordings from one of the genre’s most influential voices.
The upcoming album, Diamonds, was announced by Waylon’s son, Shooter Jennings, during an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning on Father’s Day. The project continues Shooter’s effort to bring unreleased material from his father’s archives to the public.
Physical editions and digital downloads of Diamonds will be available on Nov. 13, while the album will arrive on streaming platforms on Dec. 11. Fans have already received a first preview with the release of the title track, “Diamonds.”

The newly released song carries added historical significance because it features guitar work from the late Glen Campbell, creating a rare collaboration between two Country Music Hall of Fame artists.
According to Shooter Jennings, the recording was discovered while he was reviewing multiple archival sessions from his father’s collection.
“This track eluded me,” Jennings said in a statement. “I kept finding it across three different sessions while I was going through my father‘s work. At first, I was very confused because of the sound of the guitar as to what it was.”
The song was originally recorded on Dec. 28, 1978, during one of the most successful periods of Waylon Jennings’ career. It was written by Jennings and Campbell and remained unreleased for decades.
Diamonds follows the 2025 release of Songbird, the first album in a planned series of archival projects produced by Shooter Jennings. The Grammy-winning producer has dedicated years to organizing and restoring recordings left behind by his father.
During his CBSSunday Morning interview, Shooter explained that the project is about preserving the true story of Waylon Jennings beyond the public image often associated with the outlaw country movement.
“When somebody is gone, there tends to be…the public remembrance of them can be distorted. People can remember the outlaw part of this or fantasize what he was like, but he’s not here to represent himself,” Jennings said. “But what I felt was so important was you saw how much he loved music… He connected with those songs. All he cared about was music — it wasn’t about image, it wasn’t about money, or anything beyond wanting to be great at music and play music.”
Waylon Jennings remains one of country music’s most celebrated artists. A pioneer of the outlaw country movement, he scored 16 No. 1 hits and helped reshape Nashville by fighting for greater creative freedom for artists. His career included classics such as “I’m a Rambling Man,” “Luckenbach, Texas” and “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” with Willie Nelson.
Jennings died on Feb. 13, 2002, at age 64 due to complications from diabetes. Despite his passing, interest in his music has remained strong, leading to continued demand for archival releases.
The album will contain 12 tracks, including “Saturday Night Special,” “Wild & Blue,” “Lost Love Song” and “Words.” It also includes “I’m Tired,” featuring Waylon’s wife and fellow country star Jessi Colter.
As anticipation builds for Diamonds, country music fans will soon have the opportunity to hear another chapter from Waylon Jennings’ remarkable catalog, 24 years after his death.

The actors were allowed to enjoy some of the rides between takes. One of them almost got sick and was upset about another actor's teasing about it.

Farrar also wrote Sandy's emotional ballad, "Hopelessly Devoted to You." The original song was the only Academy Award nomination the musical received.
The movie did show clips of the movie's characters enjoying the carnival. The actors having fun might also be why the final number is so memorable.

We Asked 4 Child Psychologists What Parenting Style Is Best—They All Said the Same Thing
Spend enough time on #MomTok (not that one, but mommy content) and other parenting spaces on social media, and you know that there are so many labels for parenting styles. And honestly, sometimes it seems like the one that's trending changes more often than you needed to change your newborn's diaper back in the day.
Dr. Caitlin Slavens, BAACS, MC, R Psych, a psychologist, knows it can get out of control.
"I think sometimes parents end up so worried about whether they’re doing the 'right' style of parenting that they stop trusting themselves or [stop] responding naturally to their actual child," Dr. Slavens tells Parade.
Also, once upon a time—perhaps when your parents or grandparents were in the child-rearing trenches—there were only three (then later four) upbringing approaches.
"The original parenting styles stem from 1960s research, which identified three primary styles: authoritative, authoritarian and permissive parenting," states Dr. Holly Schiff, Psy.D., a licensed clinical psychologist. "Researchers later added a fourth style: neglectful/uninvolved parenting. These styles are generally defined by two main factors: warmth/responsiveness and structure/expectations."
These approaches can provide guidance, but they aren't "rules." You can still be a good parent without checking every parenting style box.
"Most parents aren't one parenting style all the time, anyway," Dr. Slavens says. "I think it’s more helpful to focus on raising kids in a way that helps them feel loved, safe and secure, while at the same time, also remembering that different kids need different things."
That said, there's one general method that child psychologists agree tends to lead to the best outcomes for kids. Below, they share what parenting style is best, and their takes on some other popular strategies. Plus, which ones to avoid.
The Best Parenting Style for Kids, According to 4 Child Psychologists"Authoritative parenting tends to produce some of the healthiest long-term outcomes for children," Dr. Schiff states.
Dr. Slavens says that authoritative parenting blends warmth and connection with parameters and boundaries—no, these things are not mutually exclusive.
"Children know their parents will be emotionally supportive, but they also know there are limits and expectations," she tells Parade.
Two other child psychologists echo their sentiments.
"Authoritative parenting is the sweet spot between too controlling and too hands-off," says Dr. Cameron Caswell, Ph.D., host of the podcast "Parenting Teens with Dr. Cam" and an adolescent psychologist. "You have fair and reasonable expectations for your child, and they trust and respect you enough to actually want to meet them."
She adds that kids raised in authoritative environments know where the line is, why it's there and that you'll stay steady, even if they push back. Another psychologist says this parenting method builds skills kids will need for a lifetime.
"This style helps children learn how to regulate emotions, tolerate frustration, make decisions and recover from mistakes," Dr. Amy Todey, Ph.D., a psychologist, adds. "It teaches children that failure is survivable, relationships can withstand conflict, and discipline is ultimately about teaching rather than punishment."
What Is an Example of Authoritative Parenting?Authoritative parenting works with kids and teens of all ages who benefit from connection, warmth and boundaries.
For example, a child may become angry when it's time to turn off their iPad and start crying.
"An authoritative parent might say something like, 'I know you’re frustrated. You were having fun, but screens are done for tonight,'" Dr. Slavens explains. "The parent isn’t shaming the child for being upset, but they also aren’t changing the boundary because the child is upset."
Dr. Caswell says your teen may want to go to a party without adult supervision. An authoritarian parent would shut it down ASAP without discussion, and a permissive parent will say yes and hope for the best. On the other hand:
"An authoritative parent says something like, 'I hear you, and I get why you want to go. I'm not comfortable with no supervision, and here's why. Let's figure out something that actually works,'" the psychologist shares. "The teen doesn't always get exactly what they want, but they feel heard, they understand your reasoning and the conversation doesn't end in a slammed door."

6 Other Parenting Styles That Can Be Beneficial 1. Gentle parentingDr. Slavens thinks gentle parenting gets misunderstood online.
"Gentle parenting is quite basic, being emotionally regulated and connected to your child, while still holding boundaries," she states. "The goal is to help kids learn how to regulate their emotions by being a strong, steady presence for them, despite whatever emotions the kids may be feeling."
2. Hybrid parentingDr. Slavens notes that many parents naturally end up parenting this way without labeling it.
"Hybrid parenting is taking pieces from different parenting approaches depending on the child, situation and stage of development," she explains. "For example, a parent may be very collaborative and flexible in some situations but more structured and firm in others."
She loves how reflective this approach is of real life, where parenting is rarely one-size-fits-all.
3. Lighthouse parentingDr. Todey explains that lighthouse parenting involves acting as a steady guide. Lighthouse parents aren't controlling every move, but they don't disappear completely.
"The parent serves as a stable emotional base while allowing children increasing independence as they mature," she states. "This approach is beneficial because it balances safety with autonomy. Children know support is available, but they are also trusted to navigate challenges, make decisions and build competence."
4. Beta parentingDr. Schiff says beta parenting is flexible and anti-perfectionist.
"It prioritizes child-led learning and independence instead of hovering," she states. "Routines do exist, but Beta parents pivot to accommodate the needs and joy of the moment, rather than rigid control and schedules."
5. Free-range parentingDr. Slavens describes free-range parenting as "more independence, responsibility and opportunities to figure things out on their own."
"This may look like letting kids walk to a friend’s house, solving peer conflicts independently or taking age-appropriate risks without adults stepping in immediately," she explains.
6. Responsive parenting"Responsive parenting is about reading what your teen actually needs in a moment and responding to that, instead of reacting to the surface behavior," Dr. Caswell explains.
She shares that this parenting style models stronger emotional regulation, so children and teens raised this way tend to develop these skills.

6 Parenting Styles To Avoid1. HelicopterDr. Todey explains that helicopter parents are "overly involved in managing a child’s experiences, emotions, relationships or problems." They're quick to step in to prevent discomfort, failure or frustration. It's often done with love.
"While the intention is usually love and protection, over-involvement can unintentionally communicate to children that they are incapable of handling challenges on their own," she says. "Children build confidence through competence, and competence develops through failure, practice, struggle and recovery."
2. Snowplow parentingLike a snowplow in a storm, Dr. Slavens says this parenting style involves removing obstacles in a child's path before they can counter them. Snowplow parents might fix friendship conflicts or prevent kids from dealing with natural consequences.
"Over time, some children start doubting their own ability to handle hard things because adults are always clearing the path for them," she states.
3. Authoritarian parentingHigh on rules and low on warmth, Dr. Caswell notes that authoritarian parenting aims for obedience. Questioning the rules is a no-go.
"Teens raised this way often comply on the outside while quietly resenting it on the inside, and when they finally get out from under the rules, they have no internal compass to replace them with," she shares.
4. Tiger parenting"Tiger parenting pushes hard for achievement, often at the expense of everything else," Dr. Caswell states.
She shares that the intention is often to do what is best for a child.
"But when performance becomes the primary way a teen feels valued, they learn to tie their worth to their results," she says. "That's a fragile foundation, and it tends to crack under pressure."
5. Permissive parentingPermissive parenting is warm, but Dr. Todey says it lacks structure and accountability.
"Parents may avoid setting limits, struggle with consistency or prioritize keeping children happy over maintaining boundaries," she explains. "Children generally need more than emotional warmth alone—they also need guidance, structure and limits to feel secure and develop self-regulation."
She notes that children can struggle with frustration tolerance, responsibility and understanding appropriate expectations in relationships without boundaries from an early age.
6. Neglectful parenting"Neglectful parenting is not giving your child attention, making yourself available or showing interest in your child," Dr. Caswell says.
Children raised by people using neglectful parenting learn to stop expecting support and to figure things out on their own.
"This makes them more vulnerable to seeking connection, validation and belonging anywhere they can find it, which isn't always somewhere safe," she points out.
