1977 Classic Song, Released by Icon Who Died at 36, Became a No. 1 Hit 31 Years Later

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:55pm

In 1977, a song with a simple message of hope quietly made its debut only to find unexpected chart success decades later.

"Three Little Birds," released by Bob Marley and the Wailers, first appeared on the album Exodus and later in 1980 it was released as a single. Despite its now-iconic status, the track did not chart at the time of its original release.

Over the years, however, the song's gentle reassurance, "every little thing is gonna be all right," helped it grow into one of Marley's most beloved and recognizable tracks. Its laid-back rhythm and uplifting lyrics made it a global favorite, often associated with comfort, resilience and optimism.

Marley, who died at just 36 years old after battling melanoma, left behind a legacy that continues to influence music and culture around the world. "Three Little Birds" stands as one of the clearest examples of his ability to turn simple ideas into powerful, enduring messages.

More than three decades after its release, the song experienced an unexpected chart breakthrough. In 2008, child singer Connie Talbot recorded her own version, introducing the track to a new generation of listeners. Her rendition went on to reach No. 1 on the Hot Singles Sales, marking a major milestone the original recording had never achieved.

Talbot went on to pursue a decades-long career as a solo artist, releasing original music and touring having grown a devoted fan base on the heels of her childhood success.

The moment underscored the song's timeless appeal, proving that its message could transcend generations, genres and even decades.

"I was so lucky to have a career as a child and I find it hard to kind of live up to those achievements," Talbot told Unclear. "Growing up in general and in the music industry definitely had its struggles, highs and lows, meeting incredible people, and some not so much. I realized that everything has kind of led up to this point and everything has led up to this freedom of being able to write about anything I want to."

Today, "Three Little Birds" remains a cultural staple, played in everything from films to everyday life moments when reassurance is needed most.

"Communication go on, you know," Marley said in a 1980 interview. "Someone hear the truth, and tell it to someone, next one tell it to the next one. There is not no one man who really tell everyone cause each one a go teach the next one. Like you hear a good advice, you tell someone else. And it go on, you know."

What began as a quiet release in 1977 ultimately became a No. 1 hit 31 years later, solidifying its place as a timeless classic that continues to uplift listeners around the world.

Bruce Springsteen Offers Rare Words of Support for Donald Trump After D.C. Shooting

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:43pm

Rock legend BruceSpringsteen kicked off his Sunday night concert in Austin with a ”prayer of thanks” for DonaldTrump.

The singer-songwriter is a well-known critic of the president, but put their rivalry aside during his most recent show. He shared gratitude that Trump was safe after the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting on April 25.

In a video circulating on social media, Springsteen told the crowd, “We begin tonight with a prayer for our men and women in service overseas, we pray for their safe return.”

The “Dancing in the Dark” singer continued, “We also send out a prayer of thanks that our president, nor anyone in the administration, nor anyone attending, was injured at last night’s incident at the [White House] press correspondents’ dinner.”

The 75-year-old singer’s disapproval of the current administration did not prevent him from condemning the recent shooting.

“We can disagree. We can be critical of those in power, and we can peacefully fight for our beliefs. But there is no place in any way, shape, or form for political violence of any kind in our beloved United States.”

This isn’t the first time the “Born to Run” singer has mentioned Trump at a concert.

At Springsteen’s 2025 European tour launch, he told his audience, "In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”

The pair's long-running feud dates to 2012, before Trump entered politics.

The current president took to X after Springsteen attended a “get‑out‑the‑vote” rally for then-President BarackObama.

“Why would Ohio listen to Bruce Springsteen reading his lines? Be careful or I will go to Ohio and @MittRomney will win it,” he wrote.

Just months before the 2016 election, the “Born in the U.S.A.” singer called Trump a “moron” in RollingStone, adding that he is “a tragedy for our democracy.”

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are currently on the ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’ tour.

2018 Blockbuster Named 'Greatest' Marvel Film as Fans Await New Sequel

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:36pm

When the box office is in need of a pick-me-up, it's always a delight when superheroes enter the picture.

Later this year, December 18 to be exact, Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters. Marvel's highly anticipated release is a direct sequel to Avengers: Endgame (2019) — which was a follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War (2018), as fans will recall.

Monday, April 27 marks eight years since Infinity War hit the mass and remains a fan-favorite. In an article published last week, Collider called the 19th film in the MCU the "greatest film" from the iconic universe, writing:

"Avengers: Infinity War is arguably one of those rare movies that felt like a true cinematic event, both in its scope and how it paid off a decade's worth of build-up. Its story is just as intense: the intergalactic tyrant Thanos (Josh Brolin) finally plans to collect the six Infinity Stones, which will allow him to wipe out half the universe. The Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and other heroes join forces to stop Thanos, grappling with questions of sacrifice along the way."

Speaking of Brolin, critics and audiences particularly favored Infinity War due to the Goonies actor's layered performance as a villain, among other perks. And let's not forget the data highlights: The 2018 blockbuster became one of the highest-grossing films of all time and climbed onto Disney+'s Top 10 list as well.

The following year came Endgame, and directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo recently announced that the hit film would be re-released on Sept. 25 — and feature brand-new footage. They had previously revealed that Marvel’s highest-grossing film of all time would be re-released in theaters ahead of Doomsday.

Although it hasn’t been announced what the new footage will include, Joe Russo, 54, said at the recent Sands Film Festival that it’s important that Endgame gets re-released. Disney also announced that both Endgame and Doomsday would be released with Infinity Vision, “a new benchmark for theatrical presentation.” Find out more here.

1975 Anthem With Soulful Guitar Lick Ranked the Year’s Definitive Song of Summer

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:33pm

Summer is right around the corner, and you know what that means: blasting classic rock anthems with windows down. And we have the perfect hit to play on repeat: the Eagles' “One of These Nights.”

Named 1975’s definitive song of summer by Business Insider, the track hit the airwaves in May that year and became a landmark anthem for the band. Not only did it signal a new era for the boys, but “One of These Nights” shifted their sound from the easygoing country-rock of their 1972 self-titled debut to a darker, more R&B-tinged vibe.

"We like to be a nice little country-rock band from Los Angeles — about half the time," Don Henley told Rolling Stone in 1975. "We wanted to get away from the ballad syndrome with 'One of These Nights.' With Don Felder in the band now, we can really rock. He's made us nastier and did a great guitar solo on the single."

Written by Henley and Glenn Frey, the title track off their June 1975 album infuses a disco-bottomed groove into the group’s signature California rock sound.

“I'd been listening to Spinners and Al Green records when I started writing it at the piano," Frey told Rolling Stone. "Our producer, Bill Szymczyk, is a real R&B freak. He was a freelance engineer in the '60s on Aaron Neville's 'Tell It Like It Is' and B.B. King's 'The Thrill Is Gone.'"

Meanwhile, for his part, Felder crafted what is now an iconic guitar lick that actually mimics the sound of another instrument altogether.

Speaking with Guitar Player last year, Felder said, “If you listen to that guitar solo, it’s really an alto saxophone solo. I kept listening to this track, and it wasn’t like rock ‘n’ roll. It was almost like R&B at the time.”

He added that he’s good friends with prolific saxophonist David Sanborn and put himself in Sanborn's shoes to craft his riff. "So what I did, it's really a horn part; it's got places where a sax player would stop and take a breath. It's an alto sax solo that I play on guitar."

The track marks Felder’s first credited song with the Eagles and, oh, was it a good one. Hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August that year, “One of These Nights” was the second chart-topping single for the Eagles, with the album seeing the same success and reaching the pinnacle spot on the Billboard 200.

It’s just one of those songs.

1991 Animated Film Was Just Named the Most Calming Movie to Watch

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:32pm

While some movie lovers want to see a film that thrills and excites, others prefer a calming viewing experience. Fortunately, for those who want to watch something quiet and contemplative, the publication Collider recently shared a list of the top 40 "calming movies to watch when you need to relax."

The ranking, published on April 27, featured beloved films like 2006's The Holiday, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty from 2013, Little Women, released in 2019, and Harvey from 1950. The top five ranking included Little Miss Sunshine from 2006, 2001's Ocean’s Eleven, 1961's Breakfast at Tiffany's, and the first two Paddington movies.

The animated filmOnly Yesterday, released in 1991, took home the top spot. According to Collider, the Studio Ghibli movie provides a quaint story about Taeko (Miki Imai) reflecting on childhood events. The publication also complimented the film's comforting animation.

Only Yesterday has a score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Isao Takahata Directed Both 'Only Yesterday' & 'Grave of the Fireflies'

The writer and director of Only Yesterday, Isao Takahata, also directed and wrote the famously somber 1988 animated film, Grave of the Fireflies. While Only Yesterday, adapted from Hotaru Okamoto and Yuko Tone's mangaOmoide Poro Poro, isn't as devastating as Grave of the Fireflies, the 1991 film still has poignant and emotional moments. In a behind-the-scenes interview about Only Yesterday, Takahata, who died in 2018 at the age of 82, shared that he would have preferred to work on light-hearted, humorous films.

"To tell you the truth, my so-called signature titles, like Only Yesterday and Fireflies, they aren't my desired genre that I wanted to work on. When comparing myself with other creators, I had a genre that I thought I was good at. Well, I think making people laugh," said Takahata in the interview.

Takahata then explained that he made the choice to differentiate his works from his Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki's sweet films, like My Neighbor Totoro (1988) and Kiki's Delivery Service (1989).

"But when Miyazaki comes up with fun titles, I want to try something different. I mean, I've got no choice. Because no one needs a copy. No point in making imitations. So it may be fair to say I had to make my films with a different approach," said Takahata.

Subway 'Turns Up the Heat' with New 'Wannabe Spicy' Menu and Ghost Pepper Bread Options

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:30pm

While many people might settle for a traditional Italian sub or an equally delicious ham or turkey on whole wheat, some diners might desire a sandwich that's a little more on the hot side.

Fortunately for these customers, Subway has recently unveiled a brand-new 'Wannabe Spicy' menu that truly delivers the heat (albeit with one key catch).

According to a recent press release from the company, Subway's Canadian locations have officially rolled out their new spicy menu, complete with three distinct heat options. This includes the brand's new "Mild," "Wild" and "Wicked" heat levels, all of which come served on Subway's scorching Ghost Pepper bread.

For a specific breakdown of the new menu, Subway included the following description for each of its new sandwich orders.

  • Mild Piri-Piri Ranch Chicken: Piri-Piri sauce served over Canadian farm-raised Rotisserie Chicken, Cheddar Cheese and Bacon made with Canadian Pork. Finished with crisp lettuce, spinach, tomato, cucumber, green pepper, red onion, and topped with a cooling ranch sauce.
  • Wild Hot Honey Chicken: Hot Honey Sauce drizzled over Canadian farm-raised Rotisserie Chicken and Habanero Jack Cheese, finished with lettuce, spinach, cucumber, green pepper, red onion and banana peppers.
  • Wicked Nashville-Style Deli: Nashville Hot Sauce poured over Black Forest Ham, Pepperoni and Salami, topped with Habanero Jack Cheese, lettuce, spinach, tomato, green pepper, red onion, banana peppers, garlic aioli and house sandwich saucee.

“We didn’t want to add more ‘spice noise’ in a landscape that challenges guests to ‘prove something’,” said Chef John Botelho. “We wanted to provide Canadians with a menu that perfectly fits their spice tolerance and preference. Our ‘Mild,’ ‘Wild,’ and ‘Wicked’ approach gives Canadians the chance to choose their own adventure, with sandwich builds that bring the heat and pack maximum flavour and freshness. For those who can’t break up with their classic order, you can punch it up by switching to Ghost Pepper Bread for a limited time.”

As mentioned above, the new menu items are only available for a limited time at Canadian Subway locations. With that being said, anyone who happens to be in the Great White North might want to think about trying the new sandwiches sooner rather than later!

Why Everyone Is Picking Up Pickleball

Invented in the 1960s and popularized in the early 2000s, pickleball had a modest fan base until it exploded during the COVID-19 pandemic. From roughly 2020 to 2023, people discovered the recreational sport as a way to be outside and around others without having to be within their six-foot space. And like many things that received a spike in attention during that time, pickleball has remained a popular pastime that is both family-friendly and a great way to make new friends while staying active.

If you're new to pickleball, this Aldi set is the perfect place to start. For one, it doesn't cost a fortune and gets you a foot in the game without buying a bunch of expensive gear. Secondly, its portable design means you can set it up on any hard surface, whether it's your own driveway, a tennis court, a badminton court, or really any open, flat slab of concrete where the ground is fairly even. From there, it's easy setup and breakdown, so you can spend less time getting ready and more time improving your serve.

Don't miss out on this awesome summer deal. Supplies are already selling fast, so you'll want to check your local store this week. While you're there, be sure to check out Aldi's collectible quarter keychains and stunning outdoor glass tables.

Jagger, 82, is spoken about at length in The Rolling Stones: The Biography, the new book by Bob Spitz. After visiting a "Buddhist heroin dealer," Jagger collapsed on the floor.

“His lips were turning blue. I didn't know what else to do. I was freaked,” Chess wrote. “Mick Jagger's gonna die in my f-----g apartment!”

Actress Faye Dunawayarrived shortly after, and Chess gave Jagger CPR. After calling for an ambulance, Dunaway helped them secure a private hotel room at the hospital away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

Who is Mick Jagger's Fiancée?

Decades later, Jagger is living a more peaceful life. The singer has found happiness these days with his fiancée, Melanie Hamrick. Jagger and Hamrick are parents to a 9-year-old son, Deveraux. For Jagger’s birthday last year, Hamrick shared a sweet photo of her two men alongside each other sporting bunny ears. (Swipe to the third photo in the slide to see the shot.)

“Happy Birthday!!!!🎊 ❤️🥳,” Hamrick captioned the three shots, which started with a photo of her alongside Jagger looking dapper in formal wear. In the second slide, the couple posed for the camera outside on what looked like a restaurant patio. But it was the third shot, which featured the adorable Deveraux mugging for the camera alongside his smiling dad, that made waves on social media.

While Jagger and Hamrick are engaged, they seem to have no official plans to get married.

Hamrick made it clear that the couple has no serious plans, but that doesn’t mean they may not pursue it in the future.

“We’ve been engaged two or three years,” Hamrick told Paris Match, a French publication, last year. “Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.”

Hamrick continued by saying that what’s most important to the couple is that they’re there for each other no matter what. A retired ballerina and author, Hamrick has also always responded playfully when asked about her age gap with Jagger in the past.

“He’s younger than me,” Hamrick told Page Six, taking it in stride. “He’s amazing, really is.”

Fans Are Convinced a 'DWTS' Pro Just Hard Launched a New Romance—and it's With a Former Contestant

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 2:08pm

Is Sasha Farber off the market? That's the question that many Dancing With the Stars fans are wondering after the ballroom pro posted an April photo dump on Instagram.

Farber, 41, has been spending time with Season 19 Dancing With the Stars competitor Janel Parrish. Over the past few weeks, Farber has been posting photos and videos of himself and Parrish, 37, hanging out, but his new post seems to suggest that the two are more than just friends. In some of the photos, Parrish can be seen planting a kiss on Farber, which is the main reason that fans are convinced that the two are an item.

View this post on Instagram

"April has been amazing," Farber captioned the Instagram post, uploaded on Monday, April 27. He added a red heart and a red rose emoji. Parrish popped up in the comments section of the post to respond.

"Yes it has," she agreed with Farber, adding a white heart and the crown emoji.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the comments from Farber's DWTS co-stars and fans poured in.

"Is this a Hard Launch?" asked Dancing With the Stars judge Derek Hough.

"Happy you’re happy my friend," wrote DWTS pro Peta Murgatroyd.

"So happy for you Sasha. You’re a good man and you deserve happiness," read another comment.

View this post on Instagram

If Farber and Parrish are dating, it would be the first relationship that Farber has gone public with since his split from Bachelorette star Jenn Tran in mid-2025. After meeting on Season 33 of the dance competition show, Farber and Tran dated for about a year before calling it quits. Farber was previously married to fellow Dancing With the Stars pro, Emma Slater.

As for Parrish, People magazine reported that she separated from her husband, Chris Long, earlier this month after seven years of marriage.

The world got its first look at The Lost Boys musical on April 26. And the premiere brought out famous faces, including several notable celebrity parents and their children. So, who went to the NYC event?

Ayesha and Stephen Curry, With Their Daughter Riley

The Golden State Warriors are no longer in the 2026 NBA playoffs. But it looks like basketball phenomSteph Curry still has plenty to do. The point guard and his entrepreneur/author wife, Ayesha Curry, weren’t just catching a glimpse of the show —the Currys are co-producers of the musical.

In March, Ayesha posted (on Instagram), “I am so excited and shouting from the rooftops how honored Stephen and I are to have joined the team as co-producers of The Lost Boys on Broadway! I can’t wait for you all to see what the team has been creating at the legendary Palance Theatre. You are in for a wild ride full of excitement, thrills, and insane talent.”

Singer/songwriter Pink and her teenage daughter, Willow Sage Hart, also attended the opening night of The Lost Boys. The pair came dressed to impress. The mom of two wore a studded black leather jacket, and her fashionable 14-year-old daughter looked chic in a red satin strapless dress.

Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, and the couple’s 15-year-old twins, Harper and Gideon,  made a rare family appearance at the premiere. Like the Currys, NPH is also a co-producer of the vampire musical.

Of course, these weren’t the only celebs to attend the event. Several other stars walked (nd rocked) the red carpet at the premiere. Cameras caught actress Vera Farmiga and her husband, Renn Hawkey, Zooey Deschanel, Darren Criss, and some of the movie’s original cast, including Billy Wirth and Alex Winter

Fans took to Instagram, gushing over the Broadway show and the celebrity audience members. One commentator wrote, “Nothing beats a night at the Palace for a premiere this iconic!, while another said, “It really warms my heart seeing Billy Wirth and Alex Winter at the show! Knowing the actors from the original movie support this musical makes it feel extra special!”

'American Idol' Standout Jordan McCullough Teases a 'Risky' Taylor Swift Night Performance (Exclusive)

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 1:56pm

With his beautiful voice, Jordan McCullough was awarded one of only three 2026 American IdolPlatinum Tickets after performing “Grandma’s Hands” by Bill Withers in Hawaii, and what made it even more meaningful for the 27-year-old worship director from Murfreesboro, TN, was his ticket was voted on by his peers.

“I think that is just the highest honor I could have received all season knowing that this is a singing competition,” McCullough exclusively told Parade. “I’m in a competition ultimately to see who’s the best singer this season and to know that all of these people that I look up to so highly thought that I had a great performance and voted for me to get the Platinum Ticket, that just meant so much.”

As a worship director, McCullough is used to singing inspirational songs, but he says that the theme nights like "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" or "Disney Night" haven’t thrown him. In fact, he claims it hasn’t been challenging at all.

"It’s just been more sober feeling and me stepping into full creativity of how God designed me to be,” he said. “I’m learning throughout this experience that inspirational music doesn’t just happen inside of the church, but it happens in intimacy, it happens in love, it happens in all forms of encouragement. And so having the opportunity to step outside of my genre and do rock and roll, and country, and all these other types of themes is revealing to me, and it’s a special place to be in.”

So, for “Taylor Swift Night” tonight, Jordan had no problem finding a song – which he wasn’t able to reveal – that spoke to him.

“I appreciate Taylor Swift’s work so much,” he explained. “I appreciate what she’s done for the music industry and who she is as a person. And so, knowing that I know a lot of her catalog, I decided to go with a song that I wasn’t as familiar with, but I’ve been known for taking big risks here on this season. So, I think this upcoming song selection and episode will be another one of those risky moments. I’m excited to see if it pays off.”

Following is more of our chat with Jordan about the type of album he’d like to make, the judges’ comments, and what has surprised him most about American Idol.

So, if you were to make an album, would it be inspirational music, or would you like to incorporate some of these new things that you’ve learned?
I definitely want to incorporate some of the new things that I’ve learned. My hope would be that no matter what I’m singing, if it’s an R&B song, if it’s a rock song, at the end of the song, you’re inspired. And so, my faith and my belief in Christianity are always going to be the foundation, but I’m open to singing multiple genres of music and releasing music that just inspires.

You get to work with some terrific vocal coaches, who I’m sure help you produce your songs in a style that works for you. What’s that been like?
The vocal coaches here are just incredible. They listen really, really well. They mentor every week really well. And they also leave room for my creativity to flow as well, so that I appreciate a lot. I have the best team here on Idol, and it’s a great combo.

Last week for Disney night, Carrie Underwood said you were "perfect," a really great compliment, but it’s not something that you can use to improve. How much are you able to incorporate the judges’ comments when they do have constructive criticism?
I think it’s always encouraging to have those highly sought-after comments, like “that was perfect,” and “drop the mic” moments. But I’m also listening to not just the feedback that they’ve given me, but also every contestant that’s on the season, so that it applies to not just them, but also me. So, I’m very attentive to what they’re saying to each and every single one of us after our performances.

You auditioned for The Voice, but you didn’t get a chair turn. What did that teach you going into your American Idol audition that you think maybe got you your Golden Ticket?
It’s so precious. I’m grateful that I had that opportunity to set me up for the success that I found here on American Idol. I was at a time of trying to prove myself without knowing myself to so many people. And my journey here on American Idol was just knowing that I’m enough. And so, I came in to my audition singing Goodness of God, right where I was in the time of my life and it’s led me to the Top 7. So very grateful.

Talk about dealing with the challenges of American Idol. What’s been surprising to you? Have you learned things about song selection, about gaining confidence so you’re more comfortable on a bigger stage?
I think what surprised me the most is the pace of the show. The show happens every Monday. Most concert singers have months, if not multiple months, to prepare for performances. We have days in between each show to prepare for performances and the teams behind the team do so well at making sure that we’re prepared. But yeah, the pace surprises me a lot.

Song selection is a big thing to me. It means a lot to me. I like to think that I've picked some very encouraging yet challenging songs that helped me grow. But I’d say that the pace is definitely what surprises me the most.

Related: How to Vote on American Idol 2026: Online, Text and Social Media Voting Guide

Do you read the comments on social media after your performance? And if so, do you consider what the fans have to say?
I have to be completely honest, I do read the comments, but a lot of people have encouraged me not to. But I am just very fortunate to receive very encouraging responses each week.

I want to know what they have to say, because ultimately, these are the same people buying records and showing up to performances and buying tickets. And so, I want to know what they have to say. I want their input. But also, I’m confident enough to know that the reason why they fell in love with me is because of my authenticity. And so I’m not losing myself in the comments, but finding support in them.

Jordan McCullough

Disney/Eric McCandless

Win or not – because the field is getting narrow, so you must have started thinking about plans for after the show — how do you plan to use the Idol platform? Do you have music that you want to get out there? Or will you be starting from scratch?
Yes, I will definitely want to build off of the momentum that I have for what’s happening here on the show. My goal and dream would be to land a cinema record or record or write something for a film and kind of go down that route. But yeah, I’m ready to just release some music.

What about Broadway?
I would definitely be open to that as well.

You’d have to move.
I love New York. So that works, too!

Is what you’re saying is that if you got a chance to do an album, you’d like to do like an album of movie songs?
Not necessarily movie songs, but maybe a record that would be featured in a film. I have to think that I have the voice to, again, inspire, but also have a big ballad moment. I don’t know, I think it’d be really, really cool based [on] the momentum that I’m receiving on the show, and then go more into my artistic creativity of who I am as an artist.

The true secret to a beautifully designed home is not found in the most expensive furniture or the boldest accent walls, but in the subtle art of lighting. Lighting is the silent architect of atmosphere; it has the power to shift a room from a cold, functional space into a warm, inviting sanctuary. Whether you are aiming to create a focused area for productivity or a tranquil nook for evening relaxation, layered lighting is essential. By mixing overhead fixtures with smaller, localized sources, you create depth, visual interest, and a sense of coziness.

Homeowners are increasingly looking for ways to maximize the style of limited spaces—such as cramped bedside tables, bookshelves, or compact home office desks—without causing visual clutter. The goal is to find pieces that serve as sculptural elements while providing high-utility functionality. When you select lighting that incorporates natural-looking materials, such as wood tones or soft, neutral fabrics, you instantly add an element of sophistication. This approach turns a basic necessity into a thoughtful design statement that reflects your personal aesthetic.

New Poll Reveals California As the Best State For Food in the U.S.

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 1:47pm

if you were to ask 10 people which state they thought had the best food in the U.S., you'd likely have around 10 different answers.

While some people might readily assume the endless variety of New York might make it the suitable choice for the best state for food within the country, a new poll has recently pointed to California as having the greatest culinary offerings in the U.S.

As per a recent study by HelloFresh, the Golden State rounded out the top of the list for the best food states in the nation. As part of the study, the organization polled 5,000 Americans to gather their thoughts on the country's current culinary landscape.

In their findings, HelloFresh highlighted California as the highest rate answer, along with New York, Texas, Louisiana and Florida following close behind.

In contrast, those same survey answers pointed to several U.S. states which left data participants woefully unimpressed, including Delaware, Indiana, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.

Additional research showed that, above any other participants, pollsters from Louisiana felt the most confident about their current culinary standing in the U.S., with 94% of Louisianan participants believing their state had the best food.

Above all else, HelloFresh's research showed that California tended to be associated with three different food specialities, including Mexican food, burgers and shrimp tacos.

New York, meanwhile, tended to be associated with bagels and cream cheese and pizza; Texas with Tex Mex and barbecue; Louisiana with crawfish, Cajun cuisine and gumbo; and Florida with seafood, key lime pie and fresh-squeeze orange juice.

"Food has always been about more than just sustenance – it's how we connect, share stories and pass down traditions," said Michelle Doll Olson, Senior Manager, Culinary Development for HelloFresh US. "From California shrimp tacos and Minnesota Juicy Lucy, to Louisiana gumbo and New York bagels, the dishes that define each state carry generations. of family memories and cultural pride."

Melania Trump Issues Bold Statement After Jimmy Kimmel's Scathing Donald Trump Comments

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 1:37pm

A lot of people may have laughed at Jimmy Kimmel's latest Donald Trumproast, but Melania Trumpwasn't one of them.

The First Lady spoke out after Kimmel joked about the Alternative White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which he delivered Thursday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, citing that if Kid Rockcan do his own show, he can too.

As usual, Kimmel didn't hold back, offering a scathing roast of the president two nights before the actual event was scheduled to take place. It should surprise absolutely no one that he was not invited and there were no comedians on tap to perform.

The White House Correspondents' Dinner 2026 was supposed to be headlined by mentalist and magician Oz Pearlman, but it ended early instead, after the president and First Lady were taken to safety following reports that a gunman rushed security and traded gunfire with law enforcement before being tackled near a staircase leading to the ballroom.

Two days prior, Kimmel took aim at Trump's recent AI Jesus-doctor situation, declaring, "By the way, in the unfortunate event that our president has a medical emergency tonight, do we have a doctor in the house — oh, I’m sorry. I mean, do we have a Jesus in the house? I always confuse them, too."

That was after saying, "Our first lady is here. Mrs. Trump. You have a glow like an expectant widow." He also made the jokes about the Epstein Files, hush money scandals, Iran, and Trump's administration.

Kimmel has received a lot of heat for his jokes, despite making them days before the actual event ended in gunshots ringing out. One of his biggest critics was the First Lady, who didn't hold back, sharing a lengthy statement on X that was posted on Monday.

Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.

"People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate," she continued. President Trump Calls for Jimmy Kimmel to Be Fired by ABC, Echoing Wife Melania's Statement

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 1:29pm

President Donald Trump is calling for ABC to fire Jimmy Kimmel after he called Melania Trump an "expectant widow" two days before the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

The president posted his message to Truth Social on Monday, Apr. 27 shortly after Melania called out the late-night host for his "hateful and violent remarks."

"Wow, Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no way funny as attested to by his terrible Television Ratings, made a statement on his Show that is really shocking," the president wrote. "He showed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son, Barron, like they were actually sitting in his studio, listening to him speak, which they weren’t, and never would be."

"He then stated, 'Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,'" he continued. "A day later a lunatic tried entering the ballroom of the White House Correspondents Dinner, loaded up with a shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He was there for a very obvious and sinister reason. I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC."

Earlier on Apr. 27, the first lady made also made a rare statement about Kimmel's remarks.

"Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy—his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America," she wrote on X. "People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate."

"A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough," she continued. "It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community."

During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, Apr. 23—two days before the actual event—the comedian presented an “alternative” White House Correspondents' Dinner monologue.

The segment was set up as if Kimmel was in the Washington Hilton ballroom and the president, first lady, and other administration officials were there.

Kimmel's latest controversy comes just months after his show was briefly pulled off air due to his comments about slain political influencer Charlie Kirk.

Kimmel, Disney, and ABC have not publicly addressed the Trumps' statements.

This Iconic 1974 Dress Was Purchased Over 1 Million Times in Its First 2 Years—and It’s Still Popular Today

Mon, 04/27/2026 - 1:27pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

It's hard to believe that it's been 52 years since Diane von Furstenberg first released her iconic wrap dress in 1974, which was sold over a million times in its first two years. Since then, the style has become a mainstay in women's wardrobes around the world and has inspired countless other brands to embrace the versatile design.

In 2025, von Furstenberg spoke about the impact her iconic wrap dress had on her life and the lives of other women while accepting the Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum.

"I didn't know what I wanted to do, but I knew the kind of woman I wanted to become.
I wanted to be a woman in charge. I became that woman by creating a simple little dress that embodied confidence," she said. "Because it was a dress, I was able to share that confidence with millions of women. Fifty years later, that little dress is still a symbol of freedom and my dedication to inspire and empower keeps on growing."

Parade was interested to know why wrap dresses remain one of the most versatile styles to this day, so we consulted celebrity stylist Julie Matos to get her thoughts on what makes wrap dresses so popular. We also asked her to weigh in on wrap dress trends for 2026 and share her tips for styling the iconic design.

The Lasting Impact of the Diane von Furstenberg Wrap Dress

Michael Buckner/Getty Images for Diane Von Furstenberg

Matos, who’s worked with Cobie Smulders, Natalie Dormer, Julianne Moore and other celebrities, says von Furstenberg's wrap dress "really shifted how women got dressed."

"It made things feel easy and flattering, but still polished. That balance of looking put-together without overthinking it is still what people are looking for now," she tells Parade. "It gave women something that felt both practical and confident, and that idea has carried through into so many categories since."

The wrap dress has remained a go-to style over the last five decades, and Matos says the reason why is quite simple.

"It’s one of those pieces that can work on literally every body," she states. "It adjusts, and it’s easy. You don’t have to think too much, which is why people keep coming back to it."

In a 2013 interview with New York Magazine, von Furstenberg described the magic she first felt while wearing the wrap dress.

"They were very simple, and they were like nothing, little clothes. And they certainly didn't look like anything before they were worn, but when they were worn on a body, they took the shape of the body. The body language went with it, and they just made perfect sense," she said.

Wrap Dress Trends for 2026

Over time, the wrap dress has evolved quite a bit.

"It used to feel more classic and fitted, and now it’s a bit looser, more relaxed and a little more styled, depending on how it’s worn," Matos tells Parade.

In 2026, the stylist says wrap dresses feel "cleaner" and "more intentional."

"I’m seeing asymmetry, stronger shapes and pieces that feel more elevated and less predictable," she explains. "You also see that reflected off the runway, whether it’s a more tailored, wrap-inspired look or something more styled and directional. Even cleaner, minimal versions show how the wrap has shifted into something more polished and streamlined."

3 Things To Look for While Shopping for a Wrap Dress

Thomas Iannaccone/WWD/Penske Media via Getty Images

Whether this is your first foray into wrap dresses or you've been rocking them for years, Matos says there are three main things to look for while shopping for wrap dresses.

1. Fabric

"I always start with the fabric because that’s what really changes how it sits and moves," Matos states.

The stylist says jersey or stretch knits are great wrap dress materials since they "move with the body and stay in place." Meanwhile, silk or satin "feels more elevated but can shift more."

Viscose or crepe offers "the best balance," per Matos, since it has movement but still holds its shape. Cotton, on the other hand, "reads more structured and casual" but won’t give you a "fluid drape."

"For body types, fabrics with stretch tend to work best for curvier shapes because they prevent pulling," she shares. "Petite frames usually benefit from lighter fabrics, and for a larger bust, something with a bit more weight helps everything feel more secure."

2. Fit

Next, Matos considers how a wrap dress fits at the waist and whether it feels secure.

"The wrap should sit snug at the waist without feeling tight, and the neckline should lie flat without pulling or gaping," she says. "If there’s a belt or tie, it should actually support the fit, not just sit on top. If you’re adjusting it throughout the day, it’s usually not the right one."

3. Little details

"Construction details like an inner tie, snap closure or enough fabric overlap make a big difference," Matos says. “A great wrap dress should feel effortless if the construction is right. You don’t have to think about it.”

How To Style a Wrap Dress: 5 Ways

The way you style a wrap dress depends on the vibe you're going for, the time of year and the occasion, but Matos says you "can't go wrong" with the look. Here are a few looks she's loving.

1. Minimal accessories

"I usually keep it clean and let the dress do its thing. Good shoes and minimal accessories always feel right," she says.

2. Eveningwear

"If you want something more elevated, it can easily shift into evening depending on the fabric and silhouette," Matos says.

3. All-black

"I love how clean and polished this feels. It shows how a wrap dress can still feel elevated and modern without needing much styling," Matos says of Selena Gomez's all-black ensemble.

4. Très tailored

“I like this more tailored approach. It makes the wrap feel sharper and a bit more directional,” Matos tells Parade.

5. Dramatic moment

“This feels more styled and intentional. It shows how a wrap silhouette can lean more towards making a statement depending on how it’s worn,” Matos says.
