Veteran heavy metal band Raven has confirmed exciting news for fans: a brand-new, full-length documentary is officially in the works. 

The announcement comes after the group faced funding problems with their earlier film project, signaling a fresh start backed by stronger resources and a more experienced team.

In a recent interview, guitarist Mark Gallagher shared that the band has already begun early production. 

“We pretty much worked out the details and we're starting work on it. There's gonna be a RAVEN documentary, like a full documentary,” he said. This new project aims to tell the band’s long and complex story more clearly and completely.

The upcoming documentary follows their 2013 release, Rock Until You Drop – A Long Day’s Journey, which captured nearly four decades of the band’s career. However, that earlier effort faced challenges due to limited funding. 

“The last one was difficult, because it wasn't funded right… it was such a learning curve for me,” Gallagher admitted. This time, he emphasized that “we have really professional people involved,” raising hopes for a higher-quality production.

The new documentary is expected to dive deep into Raven’s journey, from their beginnings in the 1970s to their influence on heavy music. The band is widely known for helping shape early thrash metal and inspiring acts like Metallica and Anthrax.

Gallagher highlighted the emotional side of telling their story, noting that many key figures from their early years are no longer around. 

“A lot of the people who were involved in the beginning of this are gone,” he said, mentioning important contributors like Megaforce Records founder Jon Zazula.

Frontman John Gallagher added, “Even just our contemporaries, a lot of them are gone.” The documentary will likely reflect on these losses while celebrating the band’s survival and legacy.

Despite these challenges, Raven remains active and energized. Mark Gallagher shared that their current North American tour has been a huge success, calling the shows “off the chain” in terms of excitement and fan response.

The announcement also comes after a difficult period for the band. In 2025, Raven had to postpone a major European tour when John Gallagher underwent emergency brain surgery due to a serious condition. The health scare forced the group to take what John later described as a “medical gap year.”

Meanwhile, Mark Gallagher also faced his own struggles, undergoing ankle and knee surgeries after years of performing through pain. These real-life challenges are expected to play a key role in the upcoming documentary, giving fans a closer look at the band’s resilience.

Beyond the documentary, Raven is also preparing new music. According to John, the band has already written enough material for their next album and plans to begin recording in mid-2026. 

“The stuff we've got… more intense, more melodic, more heavy, more crazy,” he said, teasing the sound of the upcoming release.

The band is also planning a major tour in 2027 to support the album. 

“It's looking really good so far. And I'm just excited to kick it all into gear,” John added.Raven’s recent EP, Can't Take Away The Fire, released in 2025, already hinted at this next chapter. Combined with the documentary and touring plans, the band appears to be entering a new and active phase of their career.

A gripping 1953 thriller that once faced heavy censorship in the United States is now being celebrated as one of the greatest films in cinema history. 

The Wages of Fear has climbed into the top tier of movie rankings, recently placing No. 40 on Rotten Tomatoes’ “300 Best Movies of All Time” list, backed by a perfect 100% critics score and a strong 94% audience rating.

The film, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, tells a tense and dangerous story set in a remote South American jungle, where four desperate men risk their lives transporting highly explosive nitroglycerin. 

Today, it is praised not only for its suspense but also for its lasting influence on modern thrillers.

Originally released in 1953, The Wages of Fear follows four European men stuck in a struggling town with no way out. Their only chance at a better life comes when an American oil company offers them $2,000 each to deliver nitroglycerin across rough, deadly roads to stop a raging oil fire.

The job is almost suicidal. Every bump in the road could trigger an explosion.

The film’s suspense builds slowly at first, introducing each man and the harsh conditions they face. But once the journey begins, the tension becomes relentless. Each moment feels dangerous, as the drivers carefully navigate broken roads, unstable bridges and unexpected obstacles.

Despite its success in Europe, the film had a troubled release in the United States. When it arrived in 1955, nearly 50 minutes were cut. Some reports say the edits were made because the film was too long, while others believe it was due to its critical portrayal of American oil companies.

These removed scenes changed how audiences first experienced the movie.

Film critic Roger Ebert later reflected on the restored version, saying, "The film's extended suspense sequences deserve a place among the great stretches of cinema."

With the original cut now widely available, viewers can finally see the film as it was meant to be, complete and uncompromised.

Over time, its reputation grew stronger. The film won both the Palme d’Or at Cannes and the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 1953, making it one of the rare films to achieve both honors. It also became a major box office success in France, drawing nearly seven million viewers.

At its core, The Wages of Fear is not just about danger; it is about survival, fear and human choices. The four men are not heroes. They are ordinary people pushed into extreme situations by poverty and desperation.

A 1958 crime thriller directed by Orson Welles, Touch of Evil, continues to stand strong among the “best movies of all time,” proving that even films once misunderstood can become legends. 

The noir classic, starring Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh, has earned lasting praise from critics, audiences, and film historians, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting a 96% Tomatometer score and 92% Popcornmeter score from over 25,000 ratings.

Rotten Tomatoes also ranked the film 275th out of 300 best movies of all time, showing its strong place in cinema history even decades after its troubled release.

Touch of Evil tells a dark and tense story set on the U.S.–Mexico border. The film begins with a shocking car bomb explosion that kills two people. This event pulls Mexican narcotics agent Miguel Vargas (Charlton Heston) into an investigation led by American police captain Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles).

As Vargas works the case while on his honeymoon with his wife Susie (Janet Leigh), he starts to notice something deeply troubling. Quinlan and his partner Pete Menzies (Joseph Calleia), may be planting evidence to frame innocent people. The deeper Vargas digs, the more danger he and Susie face.

The story turns darker when Susie is kidnapped and falsely accused of murder. Vargas must race against time to expose corruption before more lives are destroyed. In the end, the truth is revealed, Quinlan’s crimes are uncovered, and Susie is freed.

The film is remembered for its intense mood, moral conflict and unforgettable performances. Welles plays Quinlan as a powerful but corrupt officer, adding depth to the story’s theme of justice versus abuse of power.

Even though Touch of Evil is now praised, its early history was chaotic. The film was originally adapted from the novel Badge of Evil (1956). Orson Welles was later hired not only to star but also to direct and rewrite the script.

However, during post-production, creative disagreements broke out between Welles and Universal executives. The studio re-edited the film in a more traditional style and even added reshoots in 1957 without Welles’ approval.

 Welles responded by writing a detailed 58-page memo, explaining how the film should be restored to his vision.

Despite its rocky start and mixed early reviews, the film later gained major recognition in Europe and won top awards at the 1958 Brussels World Film Festival. Over time, critics began to reassess it, and by the 1970s, it was considered one of Welles’ greatest works.

In 1993, the Library of Congress selected Touch of Evil for preservation in the United States National Film Registry, calling it “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

A major turning point came in 1998 when film editor Walter Murch rebuilt the movie based on Welles’ original memo. This restored version helped audiences better understand the director’s vision and is now widely respected.

Today, Touch of Evil is regularly shown in restored versions in film festivals, museums and universities. Modern 4K restorations and Blu-ray releases continue to introduce the film to younger audiences.

Though Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh have both passed away, their performances remain central to the film’s legacy. Heston died in 2008, while Leigh passed in 2004, but both are still remembered for shaping Hollywood history.

The film also helped cement Orson Welles’ reputation as one of cinema’s most creative directors, even during a difficult period in his career.

What was once a heavily edited studio release is now widely regarded as a masterpiece of film noir, and a powerful example of how a movie can be “saved by history.”

The Turtles carved their place in the rock and roll history book with “Happy Together.” The psychedelic love song, featuring Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman’s dreamy harmonies, went to No. 1 in March of 1967, surpassing The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” for the top spot, where it stayed for three weeks. Afterwards, “Happy Together” became one of the biggest songs of the decade and beyond, appearing in movies and commercials to this very day.

And none of that would have been possible had Howard Kalyan not found a copy of Another Side of Bob Dylan in his record collection a few years earlier. Because the Turtles' first hit came when they decided to coverBob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe.”

Kaylan, Volman and Al Nichol first got their start in music shortly after high school with a surf rock group called The Crossfires. As folk rock and Beatlemania took over, the band shifted its sound, recruited Jim Tucker, Don Murray, and Chuck Portz, and rebranded as The Turtles.

“I was trying to figure out what songs to go into the studio with,” remarked Kaylan in Mark Volman’s 2023 memoir and oral history, Happy Together. Kaylan perused “all of the Bob Dylan and Kingston Trio records I had” in search of a song to cover, one that would “distinguish us as far as putting out a Byrds-sounding record that would be recognizable as a new band.”

“The only songs I’d written up to that point had been folk rock songs,” he adds, “but I was searching for something else, and I couldn’t put my finger on it until I listened to Dylan’s ‘It Ain’t Me Babe.’ And then, I knew exactly what it was that the band ought to do.”

Dylan didn’t release “It Ain’t Me Babe” as a single; Another Side of Bob Dylan was a divisive record of the day. For Dlyan, he heard pop gold in the deep cut. He rearranged the track so that it went from “very quiet minor verses to crashing 4/4 choruses,” which transformed the meaning of Dylan’s song from “a plaintive one to an angry one, by saying, ‘No! No! No! It ain’t me, babe!’ and singing it with that sort of venom.”

The Turtles released their version of “It Ain’t Me Babe” in the summer of 1965. It peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September. Having a Top 10 hit launched the band’s career, which they followed with “You Baby” and eventually, “Happy Together.” 

Before the band broke up in 1970, The Turtles scored two more hits with “Elenore” and “You Showed Me.”

What did Dylan think of The Turtles turning his folk song into a Top 10 pop hit? Dylan referenced the group when accepting the MusiCares Person of the Year award in 2015.

“The Byrds, the Turtles, Sonny & Cher,  they made some of my songs Top 10 hits, but I wasn't a pop songwriter, and I really didn't want to be that,” he said in his acceptance speech, “but it was good that it happened. Their versions of songs were like commercials, but I didn't really mind that because 50 years later, my songs were being used in the commercials. So that was good too. I was glad it happened, and I was glad they'd done it.”

In his 2013 memoir, Shell Shocked, Howard Kaylan shed some more light on the inscrutable Dylan’s thoughts on the matter. He recalls performing “a particularly energetic show” at New York City’s Phone Booth in 1965, which climaxed with “It Ain’t Me Babe.” Dylan happened to be in the audience for that night’s show, and the group was “led past him in processional fashion,” according to Howard.

“When I got my chance to shake his hand,” wrote Kaylan, “Dylan said, ‘Hey, that was a great song you just played. That should be your single.’ Then he passed out in his food.”

Later on in the memoir, Kaylan recounts running into Dylan backstage at the L.A. Sports Arena sometime in 1981. Kaylan approached Dylan and thanked him for “writing our first hit.”

“Was it any good?” asked Dylan, to which Kaylan said it was. “So, we both made money, then?” asked Bob. “Yessir,” said Howard, who said Dylan shook his hand and said, “Well, then, I thank you. Let’s do her again sometime.”

Jimmy Kimmel is defending his Melania Trump comments after she and President Donald Trump demanded he be fired by ABC.

During his monologue on the Monday, Apr. 27 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the late-night host addressed the controversy for the first time and said, “You know how sometimes you wake up in the morning and the first lady puts out a statement demanding you be fired from your job? We’ve all been there, right?”

The Trumps urged the network to axe Kimmel earlier that morning after he jokingly said the first lady had a "glow like an expectant widow” two days before the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The comment occurred during the Thursday, Apr. 23 episode of the show—two days before the actual event—when the comedian presented an “alternative” White House Correspondents’ Dinner monologue.

The segment was set up as if Kimmel was in the Washington Hilton ballroom and the president, first lady, and other administration officials were there.

“There was no big reaction to it until this morning, when I greeted the day facing yet another Twitter vomit storm and a call to fire me from our first lady,” Kimmel said in his monologue on Monday. “Obviously, it was a joke about their age difference and the look of joy we see on her face every time they’re together. It was a very light roast joke about the fact that he’s almost 80 and she’s younger than I am. It was not—by any stretch of the definition—a call to assassination. And they know that. I’ve been very vocal for many years, speaking out against gun violence, in particular.”

“But I understand that the first lady had a stressful experience over the weekend, and probably every weekend is pretty stressful in that house,” he continued. “And also, I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject. I do, and I think a great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it. Donald Trump is allowed to say whatever he wants to say, as are you and as am I. Because under the First Amendment, we have, as Americans, a right to free speech.”

Kimmel then condemned the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, but denied that his comments had anything to do with.

He then played a clip of White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying before the event that “there will be some shots fired tonight,” presumably referring to the jokes Trump had prepared for the event.

The Iron Giant was once a box office flop and is now celebrated as one of the movie masterpieces.

Directed by former Disney animator Brad Bird, the science-fiction film was his directorial debut.

It tells the story of a 50-foot metal-eating robot from outer space who was designed to do harm but ultimately chooses between destruction and doing good.

Set in the United States during the mid-1950s, The Iron Giant follows the connection between the robot and a young boy named Hogarth Hughes, who he unexpectedly befriends. It is through their friendship that the giant robot makes a life-changing choice by choosing to be a hero rather than the weapon he was originally designed to be.

Released in August 1999, it received a poor response from the public and was deemed a major box office flop during its debut.

At that time, it only grossed around $31.3 million worldwide, far from its production budget of roughly $50 million.

One of the key factors that made the movie a box office failure was the lack of marketing.

According to the director, The Iron Giant suffered not because of the audience reaction but primarily because the studio, Warner Bros., had already lost confidence in animation and failed to properly support or promote the film.

"They were like 'That's it, we're out of animation.' So they were basically, we were perceived as a film that would be finished and put on the shelf until there was a hole or something in the release schedule in the future,” Bird mentioned in a 2015 interview with JoBlo, adding, “And then we'd be plugged in. They wouldn't give us a release date; they didn't have any hopes. They just thought animation wasn't going to really work for them."

Despite the initial response to the movie, The Iron Giant was seen in a different light years after its debut.

The animated sci-fi movie experienced a turnaround after being released on home video.

In addition, the frequent airing of The Iron Giant on TV networks such as Cartoon Network helped it reach a wider audience and grow in popularity over time.

Now, it has earned the status as a cult classic and even joined the Best Movies of All Time ranking by Rotten Tomatoes.

The popular movie and television review-aggregation website released its top 300 greatest movies, which were based on their iconic Tomatometer rating, which includes the percentage of positive reviews from critics.

At No. 228, The Iron Giant received a 96% Tomatometer score, which means the majority of professional critics gave positive feedback, marking it as an exceptionally well-reviewed film.

Subway is launching its first-ever value menu this year, and everything on it is under $5.

Its first-ever savings-dedicated menu, unveiled on Tuesday, includes over one dozen freshly prepared entrées—from classic deli subs to its relatively new Protein Pockets.

The new Fresh Value Menu features 15 different entrée options, which the company has broken down into three categories: Deli Faves (starting at $3.99), Protein Pockets (also starting at $3.99) and the Sub of the Day (about $4.99 each).

According to the April 28 press release, its Deli Faves is a "new collection of deli-inspired six-inch fully-customizable subs." It features builds like the new Spicy Pepperoni sub, Ham & Salami Sub, a classic B.L.T and Subway's Cold Cut Combo.

On April 28, 1991, Dolly Parton reached yet another milestone in her legendary career when "Rockin' Years," her duet with Ricky Van Shelton, climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

By that point, Parton, 80, was no stranger to chart success. But this achievement marked her 23rd No. 1 country hit, further cementing her status as one of the genre’s most enduring and beloved voices.

"Rockin' Years" stood out not just for its chart performance, but for its heartfelt message. The song tells the story of a couple promising to stand by each other through life’s ups and downs, with a sense of devotion that resonated deeply with fans. Parton’s warm, expressive vocals paired seamlessly with Shelton’s rich baritone, creating a duet that felt both timeless and genuine.

Interestingly, the version that topped the charts in 1991 wasn’t the first time Parton recorded the song. She had previously performed "Rockin' Years" as a duet with George Jones in 1988. While that earlier recording introduced the song to audiences, it was the later collaboration with Shelton that ultimately brought it widespread commercial success.

The early '90s marked a particularly strong era for Parton, as she continued to evolve as an artist while staying true to the storytelling roots that defined her music. For all the die-hard fans of The Office out there, we can agree season 2 was the best of the bunch, no?

"We really shot it in a way that was like we were eavesdropping on Pam, and one of the things I love about the shot is that when Jim walks in, Pam’s back is to us," director Ken Kwapistold Entertainment Weekly when the episode celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2016. "He walks up to her and kisses her, and with that angle, you see his face quite clearly, but you really don’t see her expression. As an audience member, you get to fill in those emotions that you can’t see on her face. You get to imagine how she’s reacting."

Kwapis, 68, continued, "In a funny way, it puts you in her shoes. In a more conventional approach, you’d have a reverse close-up on Pam for her reaction to the kiss, but what makes this one of the great advantages to the mockumentary style is it forces you to get involved in a different way."

Barry Manilow, the 82-year-old music legend behind hits like “Mandy” and “Copacabana,” has shared an exciting career milestone on Instagram while still pausing parts of his 2026 farewell tour due to ongoing health recovery.

The iconic singer posted that he has been inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame, marking a major recognition not just in music, but also in his early creative work in advertising and jingles. 

The announcement comes as Manilow continues to recover from lung cancer surgery that forced him to reschedule several tour dates.

On Instagram, Barry Manilow shared poster that celebrated his achievement. The image carried bold words recognizing his influence beyond music.

The message highlighted Manilow’s early career, when he worked on advertising jingles for major brands before becoming a global music star. Long before selling over 85 million records worldwide, he was already shaping catchy sounds for commercials.

Manilow’s career began in the 1960s and 1970s, eventually leading to major hits like “Mandy,” “Can’t Smile Without You” and “Copacabana (At the Copa).” He later became one of the most successful Adult Contemporary artists of all time, with dozens of chart-topping songs.

While celebrating his Hall of Fame honor, Manilow is still in recovery after undergoing a lobectomy procedure in December 2025 following a stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis. The surgery removed a cancerous spot in his left lung.

He first revealed his condition after doctors found the issue during an MRI following a long illness. Because of the surgery and recovery process, Manilow postponed several shows from his farewell tour. He later shared that his lungs were still not ready for full performances, leading to further schedule changes.

He was seen publicly in New York City on April 24, smiling during an outing. It was his first public appearance since surgery, showing fans that he was slowly getting stronger.Despite the pause in touring, Manilow remains active in his career plans. His new studio album, What a Time, is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.

King Charles and Princess Diana’s 1981 wedding was the event of the decade, and they are credited with starting the iconic royal tradition of sharing a kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Charles, then 32, and Diana, then 20, were reportedly very nervous for their wedding. They had only met around 13 times before getting married and were already experiencing underlying issues in their relationship. To add to the pressure, the $48 million televised event was attended by 3,500 guests in St. Paul's Cathedral and was watched by approximately 2 million spectators in London. The global TV audience was roughly 750 million people.

Thanks to their nerves, Charles and Diana forgot to kiss at the altar during the ceremony. Afterward, the couple presented as husband and wife on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with Queen Elizabeth II. Traditionally, newlyweds would wave to the crowd, but perhaps to make up for the omission, Charles and Diana shared a kiss in front of the crowd and cameras.

The kiss began as an impromptu gesture, but it quickly became an iconic memory from their wedding. The moment was recreated by other royal couples, most notably Prince William and Kate Middleton during their 2011 wedding.

Although Charles and Diana were public darlings, their relationship began on shaky footing. Diana called her wedding the "worst day of my life” and felt like "a lamb to the slaughter” during an interview she secretly recorded with a friend on behalf of reporter Andrew Morton in Buckingham Palace in 1991. 

"I don't think I was happy. I never tried to call it off, in the sense of really doing that, but I think [it was] the worst day of my life,” the Princess of Wales said at the time. 

Diana claimed she found a bracelet Charles had made for Camilla Parker-Bowles before their wedding and confided in her sisters about the doubts she was having. 

"[They said,] bad luck, Duch," Diana recalled. "Your face is on the tea towels, so you're too late to chicken out."

In the book The Duchess: The Untold Story, royal author Penny Junorreported that Charles sent his bride-to-be a letter and gift to help calm her nerves the night before the big day. 

“The night before the wedding, which Diana spent at Clarence House with her sister, Jane, he sent her a note, along with a signet ring bearing the Princes of Wales feathers,” Junor wrote. The note allegedly read, “I’m so proud of you, and when you come up, I’ll be there at the altar for you tomorrow. Just look ‘em in the eye and knock ‘em dead.”

The thoughtful gesture, unfortunately, contradicted a conversation the pair had before their big day, according to Penny Thornton, Diana’s astrologer. 

“One of the most shocking things that Diana told me was that the night before the wedding, Charles told her that he didn’t love her,” Thornton said on the ITV documentary The Diana Interview: Revenge of a Princess. “I think Charles didn’t want to go into the wedding on a false premise. He wanted to square it with her, and it was devastating for Diana.”

Charles and Diana separated in 1992 after welcoming their two kids, Prince William and Prince Harry, and their divorce was finalized in 1996. Diana died after a high-speed car crash in Paris in August 1997 with her lover, Dodi Fayed.

The former Prince of Wales, who met Camilla in 1970, confirmed his extramarital affair during an interview in June 1994. At the time, he claimed the affair started only after his marriage to Diana had "irretrievably broken down." Charles and Camilla wed in 2005, and she became the Duchess of Cornwall.
