Country Music Icon Gave an Emotional, Music-Themed Commencement Speech to a Top Southern College
On May 9, Eric Church delivered the commencement speech for the students of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Before the speech, he made a statement saying, “Being asked to be the Commencement speaker at North Carolina is one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had. Being a Tar Heel ‘born, bred, dead’ and knowing what the school has meant to me and my family, it’s surreal. To be able to be there and celebrate the future, the students at the University of North Carolina as they go onto their next journey, I’m honored to do it, and I can’t wait to see everybody there.”

During the speech, Church brought out an acoustic guitar and compared life to music. "The difference between a life that sounds like music and a life that sounds like noise is whether you stop and listen," he said, according to USA TODAY. "Whether you're honest enough to hear which string has drifted out of tune and humble enough to make the adjustment instead of just turning up the volume and hoping nobody notices."
Church continued, "The part of you that knows what the chords should sound like will always notice. It will not let you go. Life won't be right until it is tuned. Trust what your heart hears and is telling you about your song."
Church closed his speech with a performance of his 2009 song “Carolina.” The country star also said, "There's a sound only you can make, a voice that has never existed before you and will never exist again: a contribution only you can bring, a way of seeing that belongs to only you. The world does not need another cover song. It needs an original."

Chancellor Lee H. Roberts spoke about why Church was the perfect person to give the speech. “A proud North Carolinian and one of country music’s most influential voices, Eric Church has long been a devoted Tar Heel fan and supporter of our University,” he said. “A true legend, he has shaped the music industry and inspired generations of artists and audiences alike. His significant efforts to help rebuild western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene reflect his steadfast commitment to his hometown and our state. I am confident his perspective will encourage the Class of 2026 as they begin the next stage of their lives.”
Hobby Lobby's $2 Vintage-Inspired Table Find Is So Elegant, Shoppers Are Buying 8 at a Time
There's something about a well-styled table that can instantly shift the entire feel of a space. Even the most basic dinner setup starts to look intentional when the right textures, layers and vintage-inspired touches come into play. Lately, tablescaping has moved way beyond holidays or special occasions. People are styling their tables for everyday life now, from casual brunches and birthday dinners to even low-key takeout nights that still somehow end up looking Pinterest-ready.
A big part of the shift is how much people are leaning into making ordinary moments feel a little more thoughtful. It's candles lit on a random weekday, decorative trays sitting on coffee tables as they belong in a styled shoot and place settings layered enough to feel like something out of a wedding reception. Social media has definitely played a role in pushing that creativity, but it's also made something else clear: you don't need expensive designer dinnerware to pull off a polished look.

White Vintage Scalloped Charger Plate, $1.99 At Hobby LobbyHobby Lobby
That's exactly why the White Vintage Scalloped Charger Plate from Hobby Lobby is getting so much attention. At just $1.99, it delivers that vintage-inspired elegance people usually expect from much more expensive tableware. The scalloped edge is what really sells it, adding a soft, decorative detail that immediately elevates the entire place setting. The white base with black trim keeps it versatile, too, so it can blend into just about any aesthetic.
Scalloped edges, in general, are having a real moment because they bring in that balance people are looking for. Straight, clean lines can sometimes feel a little rigid or overly formal, especially on a dining table. Curved detailing does the opposite. It softens everything up, adds movement and makes even a simple setup feel more thoughtful.
The 13-inch oversized design also plays a big role in why it photographs so well and fits into that designer table look people keep recreating online. Charger plates sit beneath standard dinnerware and instantly add layers, making the whole table feel more styled and complete.

Another big reason pieces like this are taking off is simple affordability. People want their homes to feel elevated, but they also want decorating to stay realistic. Spending under $2 on something that can instantly upgrade a holiday table, bridal shower setup, dinner party, or even a regular weeknight meal feels like the kind of small luxury shoppers are leaning into right now.
The black detailing is also what gives this charger its year-round versatility. It can easily shift depending on how it's styled. Pair it with metallic accents and candles, and it leans more elegant and formal for holiday hosting. Mix it with natural wood tones, linen napkins and neutral ceramics, and it feels more minimal and modern.
Even though the charger plate isn't meant for direct food use, it still plays an important role in creating that layered, styled table look people keep recreating online. It's one of those foundational pieces that quietly does the heavy lifting.
For less than the price of a coffee, this decorative charger from Hobby Lobby taps directly into the rise of affordable luxury home decor. It's a simple reminder that you don't always need more pieces, just better styling choices, and sometimes the smallest details end up making the biggest visual impact.

Mountain Dew Officially Brings Back a New Version of Limited-Edition Flavor — At One Chain Only
Mountain Dew just quietly revived one of its limited-edition flavors, but fans will only be able to find it at one chain. The soda company is bringing back Mountain Dew Blackberry Citrus, rebranded from Mountain Dew Game Fuel, which debuted in 2024 as part of a tie-in promotion for World of Warcraft.
The beverage's comeback is an extremely exclusive one, as it is only available at Casey's locations. According to its website, each 20-ounce bottle of the drink retails for $2.89.
The drop was announced on social media on Sunday, May 24, by snack blog @candyhunting. "New Blackberry Citrus Mountain Dew is headed exclusively to Casey's now!" a post showcasing a photo of the bottles on shelves was captioned. The soft drink is a dark purple-colored liquid, while the label features bright pops of green, purple, yellow, and blue with berry graphics.
View this post on InstagramShoppers hopped into the comments section of the Instagram upload with conflicting thoughts: excited for the release, yet disappointed about the limited availability. "Bummed they chose a flavor like this as an exclusive for a store where the closest location is like 5 states away from me haha," one such person expressed.
"I need this flavor no Casey in my state," another agreed.
A third said the flavor is a "Need.❤️," while someone else pointed out the name change: "No fancy name? Just straight up blackberry citrus."
Meanwhile, yet another seemed adamant about getting their hands on the flavor, one way or another, writing, "I need a plug 🔌."
On the other hand, someone who claims to have tasted it wasn't impressed. "Honestly not that impressed with it, has bit too much of a dye flavor to it. Does taste more tolerable when eating something rather than just drinking it alone," they shared, in part.

If You Love ‘The Agathas,’ You Need To Check Out Liz Lawson’s Adult Debut
You know Liz Lawson for her YA novels, such as The Agathas and Murder Between Friends. Now it’s time for her adult debut, It Happened One Murder.
Parade recently chatted with Lawson about the debut, including why she made the move from YA to adult. It was a great tease into what to expect with this cozy mystery that is also a romance at its heart. Now it’s time to delve deeper into what to expect when it’s released on May 26, 2026.
It Happened One Murder brings a story of life to the murder. Harriet Baker returns to a small New Jersey island, Logan Island, when she’s fired from her job. She tried to make a go of it in New York, with the intention never to return to Logan Island, but now she’s back and living with her mother again.
On top of that, she bumps into a man from high school she doesn’t immediately recognize. As they get off to a bad start, you know there’s going to be a somewhat enemies-to-lovers trope thrown into the murder mystery that kicks off early into the story.
There’s a beautifully written story as Harriet tries to figure out her life. It Happened One Murder is a dual-POV story, but I found myself preferring Harriet’s chapters over Nic’s. Part of that could be that I related to her more, but there was also a lot more intrigue as she started the investigation into the murder — I don’t want to give away who was murdered or who the suspect was!
What I will say is that there’s much more to the story than initially meets the eye. Logan Island PD is hellbent on pinning the murder on one woman, but she’s adamant that she didn’t do it. Mixed with some people hearing conversations just before the murder that definitely didn’t involve this woman, it appears clear that the police department is covering something up.
This gives Harriet a chance to solve the case, but not for the sake of the woman who has been accused of murder. I love that there are selfish reasons involved, making it one of the more believable reasons for an amateur sleuth to throw herself into an investigation when she’s never had experience in it before. It allows her to make a mess of things at first.
Courtesy of SourcebooksNic’s chapters do help to add more to the story, so I did appreciate them. He’s looking into the murder investigation for his own reasons, but this time, it's linked to the woman who has been accused of murder. He needs to prove this woman is innocent, and at the same time, hold back his feelings — both good and bad — for Harriet.
I was a little worried about the rom-com added to the murder mystery. While there is often a little bit of romance written in between the pages of a cozy mystery, it doesn’t usually become a focus. It Happened One Murder was a pure blend of the two genres, and it worked extremely well. It felt like many 20-somethings would likely go through as they spent more time with an ex.
There is messy tension, and there’s some terrible communication. Both Harriet and Nic have major flaws, but that’s the adorableness of them. If they can just get over themselves, at times!
Lawson has a knack for mystery, and that’s not surprising when you consider her previous books. It’s clear that she reads this genre as well as writes in it, and she does an excellent job of putting in pieces of the puzzle for you to latch onto and work out. However, don’t expect to get the right answer at the end. Just as you think you’ve worked it out, the rug is pulled out from under you in a fun way!
It Happened One Murder takes us on a twisty journey that is a lot of fun at the same time. It doesn’t get too dark, making it the perfect summer murder mystery read. This is aimed at the adult fans who loved Lawson’s YA stories in The Agathas and Murder Between Friends, but it’s also perfect for those who love the quirkiness and lightness of Only Murders in the Building.
It Happened One Murder will be available on a shelf near you on May 26, 2026, and this should be on your summer reading list.
Queen Latifah Hints at Releasing New Music 17 Years After Her Last Album
Queen Latifah has captivated Hollywood as an actor for a majority of her career in hits like Set It Off, Living Single, Hairspray, The Equalizer, and rom-com classics like Last Holiday. The actor is ready to head back to her music roots, teasing new music that could drop this year.
The actor's influence goes beyond the screen, as Latifah got her start as a rapper and beat-boxer in the late '80s. She released her debut album at 19 years old in 1989, titled All Hail the Queen. It's been over a decade since Latifah released new music, and she told Variety that she has plenty of demo tracks stored away.
"I am going to try and and drop something this year. I guess I have to, at least start letting some of this music out that I’ve been holding on my computer for so long. I play it so much that I feel like it’s already out," she said.
"I think I will actually share it with the people this year. There’s nothing that really sounds like me or is my style that is out there. There’s bits and pieces here and there, but there’s only one me, so I think I need to put some of this music out."
She adds that the possible album or released tracks will be a mix of genres like hip-hop, jazz, and soul. Latifah's last album was in 2009, titled Persona, with the track "Cue the Rain" released as the lead single. Since then, the actor sang alongside Tony Bennett in a duet for "Who Can I Turn To" for his 2011 album.
The actor and rapper hasn't released a track under her solo career. She does appear in the 2025 track "Lite It Up" alongside other known artists like Rah Digga. Since the start of her career, Latifah has been seen as an influential artist with some of her earliest tracks talking about domestic violence and street harassment. Her single "U.N.I.T.Y" became a signature track that won her a Grammy and entered the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
In 2026, Latifah was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and announced she would be a judge on The Voice. She will also step up as the host for this year's American Music Awards, 11 years since she last took the stage.

30% of People Have More Than One Stroke—But an Exciting New Development Could Reduce Recurrence Chances
Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke. It’s one of the most serious health events someone can experience and can have debilitating consequences. Having one stroke is scary and life-threatening enough. But according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly one in four strokes are repeat strokes, which means the person experiencing it has had a stroke before.
According to a study published in Stroke, secondary strokes carry a significantly higher risk of disability or mortality than first-time events. This means if you’ve had a stroke, doing everything you can to prevent having a second one is really important.
Related: The Unexpected Stroke Sign Most People Miss, According to a Vascular Neurologist
After someone has a stroke, their doctor will typically prescribe them a medication such as a blood thinner or statin to prevent a secondary stroke. But considering how common repeat strokes still are, there’s certainly room for improvement when it comes to treatment.
It’s exactly what makes new, groundbreaking research out of the Cleveland Clinic so exciting. Parade talked with Dr. Andrew Russman, DO, the head of the stroke program and medical director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at the Cleveland Clinic, to learn more.
Related: Why Experts Say This Health Number Matters More Than Cholesterol for Stroke Risk
How New Research Is Shaping the Future of Secondary Stroke PreventionDid you know that some people are at a lower risk of ever having a stroke due to their genetics? It’s true. Dr. Russman explains that people with low levels of a blood-clotting protein called factor XI are at a significantly reduced risk of having a stroke.
With this in mind, Dr. Russman says that researchers identified factor XI as a potential target for secondary stroke prevention. “The idea was that we could find a way to reduce the risk of stroke without increasing the risk of bleeding,” he says. Dr. Russman explains that the risk of bleeding is a primary concern for taking a blood thinner or aspirin, which is what’s commonly advised after a stroke.
This line of thinking proved to be spot on. Researchers used this intel to develop asundexian, a new oral medication that a large clinical trial shows reduces the risk of secondary stroke without increasing the risk of bleeding.
Unlike traditional oral anticoagulants like rivaroxaban and apixaban, asundexian works by binding to an enzyme called FXIa. This prevents FXIa from activating factor XI, lowering the amount of factor XI in the body. This helps lower the risk of stroke without increasing the risk of spontaneous bleeding, which is a risk factor for taking aspirin or anticoagulants.
Dr. Russman says that a clinical trial taking into account more than 12,000 people found that the relative risk reduction with asundexian was 26% when compared to a placebo.
He explains that it’s been decades since a medication that can be used for stroke prevention has come out, which is what makes the trial on asundexian so exciting.
“One important characteristic about asundexian is that it’s shown to help with stroke prevention both in the short-term and long-term,” Dr. Russman says. He explains that current medications used for secondary stroke prevention only seem to help in the short-term and not the long-term, which is why this is so noteworthy.
When Will the Medication Come Out?The trial with asundexian wrapped up in the fall of 2025 and the results were published in The New England Journal of Medicine last month. Currently, the drug is being manufactured by Bayer and has been submitted for fast-track approval by the Food and Drug Administration.
“I’m told that they anticipate hearing from the FDA soon and, if approved, the drug could be available in early 2027,” Dr. Russman says.
🩺SIGN UP for tips to stay healthy & fit with the top moves, clean eats, health trends & more delivered right to your inbox twice a week💊
Dr. Russman reveals that there are a couple of other drugs that work similarly to asundexian being developed too, though the data from their clinical trials has not yet been released. Considering that strokes are one of the top causes of death in the U.S., the development of new potential treatments is certainly noteworthy.
While medication plays an important role in stroke prevention, Dr. Russman emphasizes that having healthy diet and lifestyle habits in place matters too. This means avoiding tobacco use, following a balanced, nutrient-rich diet, getting regular exercise and consistently getting enough sleep.
These habits are the cornerstones of good health, and their impact matters more than any drug you can take. But just think about how powerful their impact could be when combined.

Tim McGraw’s Emotional Memorial Day Post Has Fans Saying the Same Thing

"Never forget the ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Unselfishly stepping into the brink for our collective futures," McGraw captioned the post.

It didn’t take long for the comments section to fill with reactions from McGraw’s followers, many of whom took a moment to honor those who died in service.

Livvy Dunne Issues Direct Response to Rumored Feud With 'Baywatch' Co-Star
Is there a Baywatch beef brewing between two blonde bombshells before the reboot even hits our TV screens? Not if you ask one of the rumored rivals in a fight over who will be the next Pamela Anderson.
Former TMZ staffer Melanie Millercaught up with Livvy Dunne this week and asked about feud rumors between the two Baywatch stars. She asked, "I saw that there was a report that you and Brooks Nader are beefing and that there's a fight to be the next Pam Anderson. Is any of that true?"
The report in question came from TMZ earlier this week, declaring that the Baywatch set is quickly becoming a competition between women to be the next blonde bombshell, a position previously held by Anderson, who played CJ Parker in the original series.
@itsmelaniemillerAccording to reports online, there’s tension on that between Livvy Dunne and Brooks Nader over who’s gonna be the next Pam Anderson #brooksnader#baywatch#livvydunne#beef#pamelaanderson
♬ original sound - Melanie MillerOf course, the feud rumor came from a "source," so Miller went straight to the source, and Dunne was quick to deny having any issues with her co-star. The former LSU gymnast visibly laughed at the Baywatch beef question before answering, "No, no, we're very good friends."
"You guys are?" Miller asked before Dunne shook her head, and Miller asked, "So the report's just ridiculous?" Again, Dunne shook her head with affirmation and said, "Yep."
When asked how filming Baywatch was going, the first-time TV star admitted it was "fun" and shared that she was on her way to film right then. She also confirmed that the show has been pushed back and will hit our TV screens in January 2027 with just 12 episodes.
In addition to Dunne and Nader, the series will star Stephen Amell, Hassie Harrison, and Jessica Belkin. David Chokachi and Erika Eleniak are returning to reprise their roles from the original series.

He then called his favorite lady to deliver the exciting news. "Hey mom, I've got something special to show you. Are you ready?" he teased, before flashing the candy bar—which features his name plastered across the packaging where "Hershey's" would usually be—up to the camera for her to see.
"Oh my goodness," she can be heard responding, to which Pulisic proudly replies, "I think I've officially made it."
View this post on Instagram"Full-circle moment seeing my name on a @hersheys bar. Shoutout to my hometown and my mom 🤎," the upload was captioned.
In the comments section, people came by to drop celebratory notes like, "This hits home forreal 🤞" and "Hardly home but always repping."
The famed candy company is even giving away free Pulisic chocolate bars in the athlete's honor, along with a few special activations—but they won't be available nationwide. Naturally, fans can get complimentary bars in Hershey, Penn. (where it all started), on June 6, as well as Times Square, NYC, from June 25 to 27, at a Philly pop-up inspired by Pulisic’s “happy place.”

Bestselling Author David Baldacci Says This New Medical Thriller ‘Hits the Mark’ — And It’s Out Next Month!
Any David Baldacci fan is going to pay attention when he recommends a new novel, and that means Defrosted by Cristina LePort should be on your reading list. The Master of Crime has shared that it “hits the mark” when it comes to everything a medical thriller needs to have.
Baldacci doesn’t just recommend the novel for its high stakes. The bestselling author with 150 million copies sold globally also loves the “impressive” research. Not only do we get characters that we can be hooked by, but there’s depth and a sense of reality within this near-apocalypse world.
Courtesy of Cristina LePortThat shouldn’t be too surprising when you find out that LePort is a retired cardiologist and a biotech founder. This also isn’t her first rodeo, as you’ll likely know her for the Miner & Mulville series of books, starting with Dissection.
Defrosted is set two centuries from now, and we follow Dr. Peter Royce, who has been cryogenically frozen since the 21st century. His expertise is now needed, as he’s the only scientist to have ever studied the “Mitocancer,” a mysterious blue organism that will devor everything in its path.
The world Peter comes from is nothing like the world he now finds himself in. Human worth is measured by reproductivity and productivity in a state heavily regulated. Not only do we get a medical thriller, but there’s a political thriller, as the system weaponizes science, and Peter needs to do everything he can to contain this biological threat before the state can get its hands on it.
Courtesy of Bancroft PressOf course, in a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world, there are secrets and threats. Peter may hold onto the biggest secrets of all: much more about Mitocancer than he has ever let people know.
There’s a promise of more than just a race against the clock to save the world. Defrosted is set to make you think about moral and ethical dilemmas, the state of technology and its potential growth, and much more.
There’s not long left to wait for this high-stakes race. Defrosted will be released on June 2, 2026, and it’s not a release you’ll want to sleep on, especially if you’re a Baldacci fan!

The result is herbaceous, rich, and slightly citrusy without feeling overly heavy, making it an easy addition to burger nights, grilled meats, and backyard barbecue spreads.

This Sculptural Accent Chair at IKEA Is Giving Luxury Lounge Energy Without the Luxury Price Tag

There's been a noticeable shift happening inside people's homes lately. Furniture isn't just there to fill up a room anymore; it's becoming part of people's identity. Everyone wants their space to feel curated, comfortable and visually interesting without looking like they tried too hard. The rise of cozy minimalism, sculptural décor and modern organic interiors has completely changed how people shop for furniture. Now it only takes one statement chair to elevate an entire living room, a bedroom corner, or a home office.
Right now, the real win in home design is finding pieces that look expensive without the luxury showroom markup. People want furniture that feels stylish in real life but also looks incredible in photos when it ends up on Instagram, TikTok or Pinterest. Soft curves, oversized silhouettes, rounded edges and monochromatic tones are dominating interior trends because they instantly make a space feel warmer, cleaner and more high-end. It's that designer-home look people keep saving online, except now shoppers are finding ways to recreate it without spending thousands of dollars.
HERRÅKRA Armchair, $199.99 at IKEAIkea
Shop It!That's exactly why the IKEA HERRÅKRA Armchair is getting so much attention right now. At $199.99, it taps directly into that modern sculptural furniture trend people can't stop obsessing over. Instead of giving off that oversized, bulky chair look, the silhouette feels clean. Even the slightly angled legs give it that elevated designer feel the second you look at it.
What really makes the chair stand out, though, is the shape. The way the armrests flow into the backrest almost looks like soft flower petals wrapping around the seat, which gives it a softer personality compared to much modern furniture that can feel cold or overly sharp. It has that balance people are chasing right now, where something looks high-end and sculptural without making a room feel stiff or untouchable. Whether it's sitting inside a moody apartment setup, a warm neutral living room or even a sleek office corner, the chair blends in naturally because it feels stylish without screaming for attention.
The black Skulsta fabric also plays a major role in its visual appeal. Dark furniture continues to dominate interior trends because it instantly anchors a room and creates contrast against lighter walls, wood finishes and textured decor pieces. The polyester-cotton mix with a polyurethane coating gives the chair texture, softness and durability all at once. That matters now more than ever because people want furniture that not only looks good in photos but also handles real everyday life.
Comfort is a huge part of why this chair works, too. Low-profile seating has completely taken over modern furniture trends because people want their homes to feel relaxed, cozy and lounge-inspired rather than overly formal. The supportive backrest, paired with the wrapped armrests, makes the chair feel inviting the second you sit down. It doesn't come across like one of those accent chairs that look amazing online but feel uncomfortable after ten minutes.
Another thing that helps this chair stand out is how easy it is to style it in almost any space. It doesn't require a full living room makeover or some massive redesign project to make sense visually. One sculptural chair like this can completely wake up an empty corner, create a cozy reading setup or add personality to a home office without overpowering the room. That's why smaller furniture upgrades have become such a big deal lately. People want a noticeable transformation without incurring the full cost of a renovation.
The added 10-year limited warranty makes the chair feel like a smarter investment rather than just another trendy furniture purchase. A lot of modern accent chairs focus heavily on aesthetics while sacrificing durability, so having both visual appeal and long-term support makes this feel even more worth considering, especially at under $200.
For anybody trying to pull together that curated, designer-inspired home aesthetic without draining their wallet, this honestly feels like one of those rare furniture finds that hits every category people care about right now. It's sculptural, comfortable, versatile and surprisingly affordable all at once, which is exactly why pieces like this keep taking over social media feeds and modern home setups everywhere.

Coming to shelves near you on June 23, 2026, Winner Takes It All is described as something perfect for Emily Henry fans. However, there’s a music twist that is sure to hit the high notes.
Winner Takes It All follows Eleanor and Adam, two rival music execs who want to sign the same band. You know how it all goes. Well, you probably think you do, but when you throw in Las Vegas, things take a much more Hangover-like turn to add in some comedy.
Eleanor and Adam both go out for a night on the town with the band they want to sign. The wake up married with absolutely no memory of how the night went down, and now they need to retrace their steps.
The question is how these two enemies became lovers in the first place. That’s the fun in the story, as it brings a whole new level of romance.
Now, for most people, it would mean a quick annulment and the promise never to speak of it again. And they do try to get one, but they’re not as easy to get as the TV shows make it seem.
Plus, this is the world of fictional romance, and as it’s romance, it means a “happily ever after” type ending, right? Well, it should, and the fun in the story is how they get there. Of course, then we want to know what happens to their respective music labels, right?
There are some excellent beach reads coming throughout the summer, and Winner Takes It All needs to be on your list. Not only does it bring the enemies-to-lovers trope, but it does it with a race around Vegas vibe that takes us on the mystery of the drunken night with them! Get ready for June 23, 2026, to add this beach read to your collection.
’70s Rock Icon, a Two-Time Hall of Fame Inductee, Discusses Retirement
Rod Stewart, one of rock's most influential figures, has opened up about the likelihood of stepping away from the grueling touring lifestyle. The singer, who is currently on a world tour, recently revealed in an interview that this might be the last trek he will ever do, leaving longtime rock fans saddened but supportive.
The former Faces frontman is currently traveling the globe for a massive itinerary dubbed the One Last Time world tour. The run originally commenced in 2024 and has since been extended through 2026, operating alongside his The Encore Shows Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
During an interview with talkSPORT on May 18, Stewart was asked about touring, to which he hinted at this being his last run. “I’ve got 40-odd shows this year and that’s not really a lot,” he told hosts Jeff Stelling and Ray Parlour. “And I’m touring the U.K. next year and doing the O2 and that will probably be it, I think. I’ll have to do something new…come on your show more often.”

The rocker, who has previously denied past rumors that he would ever retire, went on to share his affinity for performing, claiming that there is no better rush as a musician. "There's nothing like it," he said. "There's no drink, alcohol or drug that will give you that buzz, to see all those smiling faces out there... send them all home happy is just God's gift. It's wonderful."
While his upcoming dates will not conclude his live career entirely, they will signal the end of his large-scale international travel. In 2024, the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee clarified his future plans in an Instagram post, telling fans not to worry about a total disappearance but revealing that moving forward there will not be any more wide-scale global productions.
“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do, and I do what I love,” Stewart wrote. “I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
The 81-year-old star has enjoyed a prolific career since making his debut at the age of 26. Throughout his six-decade music career, he has contributed to several major bands—including the Jeff Beck Group and Faces—alongside pursing a highly acclaimed solo career that yielded four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. His vast accolades and industry reverence attest to his unyielding passion for his craft, offering a clear reason why he remains uninterested in a definitive retirement from music.

1977 Rock Anthem, Banned by the BBC, Became a Signature Hit Despite Never Reaching No. 1
Almost 50 years ago, one band released a controversial hit that became one of their most iconic tracks to date.
In spring 1977, British rock band the Stranglers released "Peaches," a song that was a huge topic of conversation thanks to its explicit lyrics, risqué themes, and provocative cover art. The track was banned by the BBC with the broadcaster refusing to air the song on its radio stations due to its crude nature, on the grounds of "coarse language and innuendo."
Per Louder Sound, the band was forbidden from playing the song during their debut on BBC's music TV show, Top of the Pops, and instead opted to play "Go Buddy Go" instead, despite "Peaches" being the group's latest release at the time and a toned-down version being recorded.
Despite the controversy, the song went on to become one of the Stranglers' most well-known hits, with the re-recorded version spending 14 weeks on the UK Singles chart and peaking at No. 8. However, the track never made it to the U.S. charts.
"Peaches" has also dominated the pop culture world, featuring on some prominent TV and movie soundtracks, including Sex Education, The Umbrella Academy, and Sexy Beast.
In a 2023 interview, the Stranglers' frontman Hugh Cronwell opened up about the famous track, which made waves in the UK punk rock scene.
"People would go: ‘I’m not sure about the lyrics to ‘Peaches.' A bit sexist.’ The ones who said that had no sense of humor,” the singer said, per Far Out.
The 1977 track wasn't the only song out of their discography to ruffle some feathers. The band's second studio album, No More Heroes, featured more than its fair share of controversial lyrics. "I Feel Like a Wog" and "Bring On the Nubiles" were often criticized for their racial slurs and misogynistic lyrics.
"It was like we discovered we had this ability, and we were using it," explained Cronwell. "Oh, we can wind people up. Great. Well, let’s wind them up a bit more."
